Water Quality
Summary:
In this experiment, different methods for cleaning water were used to see how they affected the water
quality. The hypothesis was that boiling water and then pouring it through a carbon sac would clean
the pond water effectively. This is because when the water is boiled, it kills most bacteria and
evaporates chlorine. Then the carbon filter would clear out the suspended matter and some chemicals
such as nitrate. The hypothesis was correct in that most of the measurement categories except for
turbidity because the carbon sac accidentally made the water turn black ish. A source of error was that
the 225 ml sample had to be split into three containers but it was not split. This was fixed by splitting
the remaining water into two containers and then running it through the procedure again and
measuring that. In the end, the method was good for cleaning water but could not instantly make dirty
pond water drinkable.
Introduction
The objective is to see how boiling water and then pouring it through a carbon sac will improve water
quality. This method of cleaning water will be the most effective because boiling kills chlorine but has
no effect on suspended matter. However, the carbon

Representation And Misrepresentation
P3: Describe the law with respect to misinterpretation in given situation. Difference between
representation and misrepresentation: Representation true statement by one or more parties to the
agreement, Misrepresentation false or untrue statement by one party which is believed on by the other
party when they enter a contract. However, if one party did not rely on the statement and attempts to
seek the true of the false statement it is not considered misrepresentation. If misrepresentation occurs
damages can be recovered depending on the type of misrepresentation. Rules of misrepresentation 1.)
Only state the fact, opinions cannot be misrepresentation. For example: Smith v Land and House
Property Corp (1884 ) the claimant describe one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.) Negligent misrepresentation A person is liable for negligence if they make false statement and have
no reasonable ground to believe that the statement they made is true. For example: Hedley Byrne v
Heller (1964) Hedley and Byrne were advertising company and they ask their bank Heller to see their
financial situation and they replied that the state of company finance is good. However, after Hedley
and Byrne went bankrupt and sued Heller for false statement which has cause business to close down.
Effect on contract: Negligent misrepresentation will allow the injured party to rescind contract or
claim damages. 3.) Innocent misrepresentation false statement but not deliberate. The representor
reliably believes that the statement is true. For example: For example if a person A makes a
misrepresentation to person B to say that the computer is able to work in Apple software and Person B
believed that the statement was true. Therefore, by person B believing the statement then it was an

The Differences Of The Las Vegas Shootings
The two topics this paper will be discussing are the Las Vegas shooting and how California was the
first state to have three different genders options to choose from. The first headline being discussed is
the Vegas shooting. According to CNN authors, Stephen Poddock was the deadliest mass shooter in
modern US history. His relentless gunfire police say he fired for nine to 11 minutes after the first 911
call on country music fans at an outdoor concert left 58 people dead, (Yan, Park, and Simon). Poddock
was staying in room on the 32nd floor at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas
strip. After thousands of rounds were fired, Vegas police found Poddock dead in his Mandalay Bay
hotel room. According to Ken Ritter from the Washington Post Poddock s body was sent to Stanford
for multiple forensic analyses to be done on his brain. After a visual inspection of Paddock s brain
during a coroner s autopsy found no abnormalities, (Ritter). The FBI did state that this doesn t have
anything to do with a terrorism attack. This day will never be forgotten across America because we
lost 52 of our own people. Jason Aldean shared that all of his crew members along with himself were
all safe, but had to cancel their upcoming shows. He also stated that it will hard to get back on the
stage. People go to concerts to get away from reality for a few short hours. Reality set in only five
songs into the concert. It is obvious that Poddock broke the law and committed

The Importance Of Classical Conditioning
Classical conditioning is also referred to as Pavlovian or Respondent conditioning. It is a process of
learning whereby a stimulus that is biologically potent such as food and a previously neutral stimulus
such as a bell are paired. This write up aims to expound further on classical conditioning and why it
matters (Gormezano at al, 275).This is because despite the fact that many people use the term a lot,
they may not necessarily fully comprehend it meaning or the fact that it is by far one of the most basic
forms when it comes to basic forms of learning. Most folks who do know something about it will
quickly refer to Ian Pavlov s experiment with dogs and a bell that took place way back in 1927 and
will normally end at that point due to lack of further insight on the subject matter.Classical
conditioning is centered around involuntary automatic/reflexive responses rather than on operant
conditioning (voluntary behavior). This therefore implies that for perfect classicconditioning to occur
the responses are those that are made naturally by an animal being trained and that the responses must
occur below the normal consciousness levels. Such responses include fast or slow heartbeat, nausea,
and dilation of pupils or a sudden reaction to pain or pressure (Brewer $ William, 123).Usually the
classic conditioning starts with an unconditional stimulus being paired with a neutral one. The neutral
stimulus must be one that cannot or does not provoke any type of reaction from the test subject. The
unconditional stimulus on the other hand needs to be something that provides reliable results when
tested on the subject by producing an immediate natural response from the organism. This includes
shining a light on the human eye in which case the pupil naturally reduces in size to limit the amount
of light entering the eye. This is an example of a perfect unconditional response abbreviated as UCR
by the scientist Pavlov in 1927. The moment the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditional
stimulus, it immediately becomes a conditional stimulus and if the two stimuli can occur together over
a period of time, then they become associated which

Rubaiyat Of Omar Khayyam Analysis
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: Textual analysis and translation.
The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is known worldwide and it is one of the most well known and
admired eastern poetry in the Western World. It is the work of a Persian poet Omari Khayyam that was
translated into English language in 1859 by Edward FitzGerald and ultimately won worldwide
acclaim. However, the poetry of Umar Khayyam is considered an enigma, meaning that his poems are
understood differently by different individuals. There is, thus, a debate that Edward FitzGelrald, the
first translator of Omar s work misunderstood the real meaning behind Khayyam s poetry and
translated it in his own way which made Khayyam win worldwide applause, but at the same time
misrepresented him to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is still hard for a native Persian speaker to accurately translate a single line of Khayyam s poem into
English, since the meaning behind each line of Khayyam is broad and mysterious. FitzGerald for these
reasons is recognized as a very intelligent being with a great talent. Today Omar is mainly recognized
as such a great figure due to his poetry. From the poetry Khayyam is seen as demonstrating his
understanding of the nature of human, human s loneliness and the tangled inner side of a human being

The Role And Responsibilities Of The Nurse
As the nurse leader progresses through the strategic planning process, he or she must take into
consideration the financial costs and timeline required to implement their strategic plan. Developing
an operational budget and a realistic timeline are critical elements in ensuring the strategic plan is
successfully implemented (Lee Jones, 2004). Financial Resources For many years now, healthcare
organizations in Canada have faced financial challenges as a result of lower healthcare spending and
increased expenses (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2014, para.1). Therefore, before the
introduction of any new initiative, the nurse leader must ensure the change does not bring any
financial hardship to the organization and resources are used in a cost effective manner (Marquis
Huston, 2015). For this planned change, there is no financial cost with revising the role and
responsibilities of all the Nurse Clinicians and the existing budget is the financial resource that will
cover the cost of adding another Nurse Clinician The largest financial aspect of this planned change is
the salary of the new Nurse Clinician. In this case, when creating another role the nurse manager has
to ensure the change will be cost neutral to the organization, meaning the addition of one Nurse
Clinician will have no impact on the overall budget. To accomplish this, the nurse manager
responsible for the Clinicians explained that when the unit assessors were doing the MDS, every unit

Comparison Of Halo And Call Of War
Let s analyze this. Halo and its single player campaign held a vast universe and followed the Spartan
warriors into battle to save the Earth from the alien invasion of 2 different races while Call of Duty
has switched from World War 2 and the Modern era. I must say, the World War 2 story lines were
quite boring, being the same in almost every way, but the Modern Warfare story line caught my
attention. With the evil villain Makarov and the twists and turns the story made in Modern Warfare 2, I
was on the edge of my seat. But, Halo was in every way better in the single player front. Following
genetically enhanced Spartan warriors into battle fighting off hordes of aliens I was amazed with how
deep the story got and how Bungie used every asset they could to enhance the story further in a not so
crazy way.
Ah co op. The lovely days of playing a game with a friend right beside you on a Saturday will never

This finally paragraph will analyze the uniqueness of each game. Starting with Halo, the Forge mode
brought to us by Halo 3 revolutionized multiplayer maps and gametypes far beyond what we could ve
imagined. Also, the theater mode brought by Halo 3 helped the creative minds of the community. Now
Call of Duty...well Call of Duty didn t really bring that much uniqueness but it did help evolve the
modern fast paced shooter into what it is now. In addition, the 60 frames per second on that game
makes it a Call of Duty title while Halo and basically all other games lack that aspect. As I ve said too
many people, Halo is a crappy game at the start that eventually evolves into a giant while CoD is
awesome until exploits in the game are

The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members
during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially
babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and
collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi
broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into
unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out
whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of
workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock)
and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc.
Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3.
Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a
role, played most visibly by women. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass
and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of
women. Prolonged exposure to wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other
diseases. 4. Once the relief initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs. Supplies of emergency
food materials, temporary shelters, clothing etc are provided. Many a time, the

The Symbolism Of A High End Luxury Brand
The typical impression someone leaves are often the first impression. Judgement based on appearance
is not a new concept. Scientifically proven, it takes a set amount of three seconds to determine the
type of impression the subject leaves. In those three seconds, appearance can be based on physical
looks and/or materialistic items. The symbolism of a high end luxury brand can imply the social
standing of a certain individual as well as their physical appearance. It is an invitation for society to
judge ones appearance and attitude, solely based upon what type of brand they wear and how they
look. In the concept of appearance, most people use their appearance as a tool to express their own
individualized style. With having individualized style, it works hand in hand with using fashion as a
way to identify ones social standing. As trends come and go, there are dedicated advocates of certain
styles. Those advocates might relate to that style by dressing in various different outfits that can be
jumbled up into a certain category. However, there are a few individuals that have certain looks that
sets them apart from the crowd. For example, in the mid 1960 s, British teenage model, Twiggy,
created a marketable style of an androgynous look consisting of large eyes, long eyelashes, and short
hair. That became her trademark and caused an uprising in her career as a significant pioneer in the
fashion industry. Her appearance created a whole new way of using a trademark as a way of

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Essay
I wandered lonely as a cloud is a poem written by William Wordsworth which is known as daffodils. It
was published in 1815 with a new revision after realizing there were words that needed to be changed
in Poet in Two Volumes edition (Abishek, 2013). This poem is one of the examples of romantic era. I
love this poem because the content is related to nature. It is true with the statement from Xiaolin
Huang, Feifei Pei, and Changle Fu (2014) that William Wordsworth often called himself as A
Worshiper of Nature so everyone called him as a poet of nature. He thought that nature could
illuminate the kind heartedness and universal brotherhood of human being, and only present in
harmony with the nature where human could get the truly happiness. ... Show more content on

The first stanza tells that the poet was wandering alone to a place whereby yellow daffodils flies over
the hills and valleys with the wind flow. These daffodils grew under the trees and were close to the
lake. The breeze made these daffodils easily fluttering like they were happily dancing. While in the
second stanza, the poet saw these flowers shining and twinkling brightly like stars in the Milky Way.
They spread over a large area along the bay margin with a huge quantity. Moreover, in the third
stanza, the poet tells that both of lake and daffodils were also dancing. He shows that the daffodils
looked beautiful rather than the sparkling of the lake because the daffodils have more glee. Here he
shows the loneliness gradually turning into happiness because of his companions (lake and daffodils)
but he could not understand what he gained from his experience. For final stanza, it tells that
whenever the poet felt loneliness, he could remember the happiness when he saw the dancing
daffodils. In addition, we can take a look at the use of past tense along the poem which tells about the
poet s experience and the use of present tense is used only in the last stanza since the important
message of this poem is about the reflection of the poet s

Aquinas Cosmological Argument Essay
Aquinas Cosmological Argument is a method for proving God s existence and its foundation is based
on the fact and observation that the universe exists. Aquinas states that in order for the universe to
exist (an idea that we know to be true), there must also exist a cause that caused the existence of the
universe. He concludes his argument by saying that God, an unperceivable image, is the cause of the
universe, which further verifies His existence. This argument proves that in order to accept the factual,
former claim that the universe exists, it is necessary to accept the latter claim that God exists as well.
Anselm s motto, Faith Seeking Understanding, has to do with the search for a deeper knowledge of
God and asserts the idea that faith in Him comes before understanding God in His entirety. Anselm
claims that we don t have to understand God in order to have faith or belief in Him. Rather, Anselm
says that in order to understand God, we should first develop that faith and belief, which ultimately
allows us to comprehend God.

Theology, on the other hand, obtains knowledge and truths based on both reason and on revealed truth
and faith. As a result, Aquinas saw philosophy as a subset of theology because theology deals with
both reason and revelation to obtain knowledge, while theology only uses reason. In a similar light,
Aquinas also believed that all theologians are philosophers, but he did not see all philosophers as
theologians. Consequently, Aquinas saw theology as superior to philosophy because of theology s
unlimited potential and means of acquiring truths/knowledge; in other words, theology encompasses
subjects that reason, or philosophical studies, cannot

Impact Of Shelf Management On A Supermarket
Impact of shelf management in a supermarket
Supermarkets today across the world have become extremely competitive in nature and the pressure to
prop up sales using existing facilities is increasing. Advertising and point of purchase sales promotion
are used widely by supermarkets to get the maximum amount of sales as possible. It also helps to
know that today data is widely available on almost any factor in consideration. Such large data can be
used well for analysing and finding any particular trends that may benefit their stores. In
supermarkets, as we can generally see and understand, there is a limited amount of space, large,

Research Aim
The primary aim of the research is to assess the impact of product placement on the sales of a product
and determine whether there would be any improvement or decrement in sales as a result of switching
shelf space.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are to assess if a product placed in one position on the shelves is better
than it being placed in another position and to see if it is better to place the product with any other
items which can be thought to help improve the sales. Also, another objective of the research is to
understand whether data analysis can be used to improve the shelf management and whether the
inferences from such data analysis for a number of stores in a single supermarket can be characterized
to be standard across the board or whether the output of such analysis should only be used in a
particular store from which data was collected.
Research Questions
This research will concentrate the efforts on answering the below questions:
1. How does shelf management affect the sales of the product? Whether the sales of a product which
was already selling well, decrease because of a shift in the shelf space? Or does the sales of a product
which was not selling before improve because of a change in the shelf space?
2. Which position on the shelf space has

The portrayal of women is very negative, particularly with their use of sexual appeal to achieve
success, thereby teaching very corruptive lessons to their viewers. These include the belief that a
woman s life should revolve around a man, not working hard will make you more appealing to others,
and looking and feeling your best can only be achieved with help from cosmetics. Too much priority is
placed on things of little to no substantial value, such as achieving the perfect body or reaching the
highest Instagram followers. Robin Roberts of Good Morning America declared, you cannot escape

The Watergate Of The White House
Richard Nixon s six year stint in the White House is and was reviewed as a pivotal and influential time

for large scale pre 21st century military conflict. When Nixon resigned, (The first United States

how if he had not done so, the Democratic Congress would have forced more liberal laws and

beneficial to him. Nixon was a president that ideologically could have opposed restriction on

My Love For Photography Essay
Late elementary school afternoons at 2601 Parkside Drive were where my thirst for exploring the
world s clandestine beauties blossomed into something new. Whilst others engrossed themselves in
competitive foursquare and portable video games, I immersed myself in sketching images of places I
dreamt of visiting. All I needed was a pencil in my hand, a picturesque landscape on my mind, and my
Canson sketchbook on the table. The possibilities were then endless. Slowly, the tabula rasa of this
book filled to the brim with a lust to explore and innovate. Inside, Vietnamese villages that I had once
seen on the Internet were now laden with sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Iceland s greenery
was now characterized by tropical rainforests and towering skyscrapers. Venice s magnificent canals
were now surrounded by great expanses of icy mountain ranges. Over the years, as this lust diffused

leaving shots overexposed, oversaturated, too wide and too narrow revealed life in different lights. As
a child, I placed my finger on the shutter release of my curiosity and heard two simultaneous clicks,
one for sketching and the other for photography. They changed me; they caused the pitch black
display of my individuality to fade into a beautiful mélange of colors, each one representing a new
creative spark. These sparks then swathed the waters of my consciousness like fire across paper,

Rhetoric Spirituality
Plastic Spirituality
The Hellenic world worshipped beauty. The cult of the body was born from the Greeks, as well as
rhetoric, the art of speaking pretty , the whole problem is when the appearance has no essence. When
the label does not match the content or the cries of the preachers are not cries of the heart, but only
expedients of those who want to call attention to themselves. I see so many people today who play,
sing and preach in the church trying to impress. They have the need for people to see them. When I
see falsettos, in order to demonstrate how well they can sing, and preachers in need of self esteem
trying to just promote themselves, I see the spirit of Greece. The more impressive are the people that
feed this pride disguised in good preaching. In the first century, the Pharisees acquired a religion of
rituals and outer manners, which was condemned by Jesus who called them hypokrites (the actors)
because they were staging a spirituality without internal content. They were defined as whitewashed
tombs, cute on the outside and rotten on the inside, that represented a role, as many of their spiritual
descendants today, whose ethics are just aesthetic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

although they seem to be profound, are in fact pro funds. Have you ever hard that saying: there are

Multiculturalism And The American Culture
Multiculturalism promotes cultural diversity and is supported by many educators in the United States.
Educators tend to favor multiculturalism because it seeks to understand and appreciate different
cultures. Multicultural education seeks to reduce social conflict between minority groups because it
allows the majority (Americans) to have a better understanding of the nations vast amounts of diverse
cultures. In relation to the English only laws, it sees the notion of multiculturalism as undermining
American traditions and history. They tend to favor cultural literacy, in which schools teach and
empathize American values in the educational system. Multiculturalism developed as a result of the
opposition to the melting pot regarding the American identity and the increasing amounts of
immigrants that arrived to the United States. In this concept, immigrants melt into the American
culture in which they renounce their pervious cultural identity in order to become true and loyal
Americans like language and cultural practices. As generations go by, many immigrants lose their
cultural traditions and adopt the American culture. The salad bowl theory on the other hand, regards
foreign cultures in a positive light. Various ethnic groups are tossed together in a way in which each
cultural group keep their own identity while co existing with one another to preserve their distinctive
cultural norms.

A Canticle For Leibowitz Analysis
A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, Jr., gives an undeniable analogue to our own society. It
deals with religion, science, faith, humanity, religious ethics, secular ethics, sin, redemption,
preternatural innocence, myth and these components interlock to structure our understanding of
society. It manages the embezzlement of scientific knowledge and superstitious methods for religion.
Miller s novel depicts the ascent and fall of civilization around a small monastery in a desert

Soybeans, maize, and rapeseed are raw commodities where the primary use is inputs in the feed, food,

The current supply chain structure in which these crops are traded creates several possibilities for
impurities or co mingling. It is common practice in food safety regulations to allow a minimum
presence of unintended materials like dirt, weed seeds, and mycotoxins in crop shipments (Backus et
al. 2008). However, this may not always be the case regarding the unintended presence of traces of an
unapproved GM event in the non GM crops (whether crops where no GM approvals have been made
or crops where GM varieties have been commercialized). For example, the EU has a zero tolerance
level for unapproved GM events in the shipments of crops. Thus, the case of asynchronous approval
of GM varieties and differing thresholds for LLP among countries can lead to important impediments
to trade. These can include returning, relocation, or destroying cargos of non GM varieties at the
importing country s port as a result of the unintended presence of GM traits. Also, with the growing
number of GM events being licensed

Buddhism In The Tang Dynasty
Buddhism is originated from India, however it seems that China has become the center of Buddhism
with the rise of Tang, and the Chinese Buddhism have a profound influence on the development of
Buddhism in East Asia. Although Buddhism was introduced to the Chinese people early in the Han
Dynasty in the first century B.C., a couple of historical events in Tang Dynasty truly mark the
prosperousness of Buddhism in China. During the early Tang dynasty, along with many other
pilgrims, the monk Xuanzang traveled to India and returned to Chang an (Place 1) with a large
collection of Buddhist texts, relics, and statues. With the support of Emperor Taizong of Tang,
Xuanzang set up a large translation bureau in Chang an, attracting students from

General Mills Suicides
Of all of the gun related deaths in America, over 60% are suicides. As this problem continues to
increase, we must ask ourselves why this is the case. Could it be that Americans have unprecedented
access to firearms? Could it be that we are in desperate need of major mental healthcare reform
(Sanger Katz)? Perhaps, or perhaps not. For you see, there is a sinister, underlying root to the problem
that has yet to be discussed in mainstream conversation. As General Mills sales increase, suicides by
gunshot increase; therefore America s suicide problem is caused by its love of cereal and other

heavy regulation in the United States as they do in many other Western countries. They are in plentiful

likely to be executed effectively (Sanger Katz). While no study has confirmed that suicidal thoughts
increase dramatically after consuming General Mills products, the data presented in Figure 3 suggests
more than a real study ever could. Likewise, no study has been made establishing long term effects of
consuming General Mills products and the likelihood of mental illness. What this could mean is that
mental illness might be directly caused by consuming General Mills products, coupled with access to
firearms, leading to suicide. Whether it is a chemical imbalance in General Mills products that affect

The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge
Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is
credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999). Socrates is
well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian democracy, his
development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern of virtue.
However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Plato s writings, as he did not leave any behind.
Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that the
most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of wealth
or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and justly.
As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately lead
to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia (Happiness).
However, what is virtue? As mentioned in Plato s Meno, Socrates himself did not know what virtue is.
Virtue is defined as any behaviour showing high moral standards. Synonyms ... Show more content on

and deficiency. For example, advertising in media is mainly used to promote and appeal to an
audience of a certain product. Providing information about the product that is sufficient for buyers to
understand the product in terms of function is the mean between releasing it to buyers without

Comparing Black Elk Speaks and The Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven
Traditionally, Native American Literature has been an oral genre. Although Native American
Literature was the first American literature created, it has been the last to be recognized and, to some
extent, is still waiting for full recognition (www.usc.edu). With the Indian being forced to assimilate,
their literature was forced to take on a written form. Although the traditional way of storytelling has
changed, Native American Literature has survived. In it s written form, it is being shared with a larger
population. Black Elk Speaks (Neihardt 1932) and The Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven

In the story The Trial of Thomas Builds the Fire, Thomas is put on trial for unnamed crimes. In his
testimony, he assumes several personae, including the voice of one of 800 ponies captured and
slaughtered by the U.S. Cavalry. He is also Qualchan and Wild Coyote, telling stories of murder,
extermination, and dispossession (Whitson, 132). This shows that the Indian still holds on to the hurt
and loss they have suffered. They cannot and will not forget what their ancestors went through to
survive.
Another area the two books share is humor. Humor is needed in order to cope with loss and move
forward. Although we see more humor in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, Black Elk
Speaks has some humorous stories. For example, I found the story of High Horse s Courting very
humorous. High Horse wants to take a young Indian maiden for his wife. He goes to her father and
offers him two horses for the girl. The old man waves him off. He goes back and offers four horses.
Still, the old man is not impressed. High Horse wants his girl so bad that he goes out and steals about a
hundred horses. High Horse proved himself and got the girl. It was not the horses her father wanted,
but he wanted a son who was a real man and

Reflection Of Storycorp Interview
Introduction
This paper will discuss the recent events that have happened in this past week. The results of the
personality and values test. How the StoryCorp interview got me closer to my mother. What I learned
about the photographic work field in my informational interview. The online programs I plan to use
for my 21 day APP project. How I hope this class will help my growth as a person.
Summary of Key Findings from Interest, Skills, Values and Personality Surveys I generally try to be
kind to others and I greatly enjoy making people laugh. I would like to incorporate humor into my
Capstone Project and show the beauty of nature. I want my pictures to make people happy whether it
is by laughing or admiring nature. I believe this project will go well with my personality.
StoryCorps Interview Reflection Karen, my mother, and I talked about family and religion. My
mother is a family based woman, she has become more religious in her age. I asked her what her
favorite memories of me were and she brought up events so far in the past I had forgotten them. It was
nice to reminisce about events long past and talk about Heaven. We do not normally talk about
Heaven so it was nice to hear her thoughts about it.
Informational Interview Results The Capstone Project I have chosen does not need a higher education
to pursue after. Mr. Dunahee explained that the degree he went in for was not for photography. He had
ended up in this work field after a friend paid him to do his wedding shots. Mr. Dunahee told me this
after we had finished our interview, I was unsure whether to add it in or not.
Photography is a constantly adapting in order to keep up with all the new technology made available.
Why pay for a photographer when your phone can handle the job? While I greatly admire the field I
do not think it would be a suitable career choice for me. After the interview, Mr. Dunahee encouraged
me to join his class to learn more about photography face to face. While the offer is tempting, I fear I
do not have time to join his class due to my demanding work schedule.
21 Day APP Project Since my work schedule is very hectic I have chosen to take online class to learn
more about photography. I did have a hard time narrowing

Amphipathicity In Negatively Charged Membranes
As previously suggested, AMPs can partition themselves into the lipid rich areas of biomembranes and
disrupt the proper functioning of bacterial lipids regulating cell division. Hydrophobicity is an
important factor that determines the extent to which an AMP can distribute itself among membrane
lipids. The percentage of hydrophobic residues in a peptide is termed hydrophobicity. It is usually at
50% for most peptides. [1] However, highly hydrophobic peptides can prove to be toxic to the cell,
therefore AMPs must be moderately toxic to be able to show antimicrobial activity while at the same
time have minimal effect on mammalian cells. [1]
The relative abundance and distribution of hydrophobic and hydrophilic residues in a peptide is called

Antibiotic resistant pathogens have evolved various mechanisms to evade antibiotic action. These
include preventing the antibiotic from binding or entering it, modifying the binding site of the
antibiotic or producing an enzyme that deactivates the antibiotic. Therefore it has become crucial to be
able to design new antimicrobial substances that can overcome these existing antibiotic resistant
pathogens. [3]
Such an antimicrobial agent should be highly target specific, making them non toxic towards
mammalian cells. This is not very difficult to achieve since there are significant differences between
mammalian and microbial cells based on structural features, membrane charge and composition,
transmembrane potential etc. as discussed above.
Due to their ability to permealibilize microbial membranes, AMPs have the potential to act
synergistically by facilitating the passage of antibiotics across the microbial membranes. Moreover, it
is difficult for microbial cells to develop resistance towards AMPs. This is possibly due to the fact that
AMPs attack the entire cytoplasm as well as intracellular molecules, and kill bacterial cells very
quickly using several complex mechanisms.

role in the hypothesis that Christians would disagree with same sex marriage. Regarding the poll,
respondents were asked to pick the choice that best represented their stance on the legality of same sex

Language In The Korean Language
The Korean language contains unique characteristics that differentiate it from thousands of other
languages. While writing and speaking in languages are typically synonymous with each other, the
two structures themselves differently in the Korean language. Without the knowledge of the difference
between writing and speaking in Korean, becoming fluent in the language can prove to be a difficulty
(P. S. Hsiang, pg. 1). The intimidating and strenuous format of the language creates an easier
understanding, despite its paradoxical appearance. However, the function of the format makes
conversing and expressing oneself much quicker and easier; toddlers between the ages of two and
three retain the ability to state their thoughts and feelings, while most Americans who are taught
English can only speak following a two word format that only consists of nouns and possible
prepositions. Koreans who are taught Hangul can link these two ideas together, and develop quickly
enough later in life to master the language by age 4 (Korean Overseas Information Service, pg. 1).
These quick milestone achievements that Koreans experience when learning Hangul owes itself to its
structure; their alphabet splits itself into consonants and vowels, each section only having around 10
14 letters. The combination of the two divisions creates a quicker understanding when kids
differentiate between what letters to use in a word, as opposed to English s homogenous 26 letters we
must choose from. The history and cleverness behind the creation of Hangul find itself at the
beginning of rich Korean history, with their 14th century king, Sejong the Great, also complemented
with their language variation, and honorifics. The beginning of the Korean language starts off with the
creation of the Korean alphabet. During the 14th century, around 1440 of the Yi Dynasty, King Sejong
composed of their writing system, which had about 28 symbols. Before Hangul was produced, the
writing system that represented Korea during the period were Chinese characters. Although the
Koreans didn t speak actual Chinese, they borrowed their characters to embody the verbalization of a
native Korean. Despite the Chinese characters being the language for Koreans, only the most

Methods Of Construction At 4.1 Pile Foundation
4. METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION 4.1 PILE FOUNDATION: Piles are structural members that are
made up of steel, concrete, or timber. They are used to build pile foundations, which are deep and
which cost more than shallow foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to
ensure structural safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile
foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly compressible and too weak to carry the load
transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the load to underlying bedrocks or a
stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth
below the ground surface, piles are used to transmit the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the
applied structural load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil pile
interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal forces, pile
foundations resist by bending while still supporting the vertical load transmitted by the superstructure.
This type of situation is generally encountered in the design and construction of earth retaining
structures and foundations of tall structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3.
In many cases, expansive and collapsible soils may be present at the site of a proposed structure.

What is Shamanism?
Shamanism is a mix of magic, folklore, medicine and spirituality that evolved in tribal and gathering

How Does Social Security Help To Underdeveloped Poor...
Picture years down the road, you are trying to get ahead in life, but debt continues to drag you down.
A family to provide for and someone is constantly breathing down your neck to pay your debts. Can
you imagine the sudden relief, of your debt being paid, every hard earned penny being your own, and
finally your family having enough food on the table.
Now lets apply this to underdeveloped poor countries. As the country struggles to get ahead,
international lenders drown them in their overwhelming debt, preventing them from every rising to the
surface.
Thus my first contention is Mercy. Mercy is having compassion or forgiveness shown toward
someone whom it is within one s power to punish or harm. As God has mercy on us, we should have
mercy on others. God commands us to be perfect, holy, and righteous, but these traits are unattainable

American, you cannot be against removing the debt of highly indebted countries unless you also

Gandhi s Influence On Society
Mahatma Gandhi was born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on the 2nd of October, 1869, at Porbandar
located in Gujarat. Gandhi s father was the chief minister of Porbandar and his mother was engulfed in
religious devotion. As his mother was involved so deeply in religion Gandhi s upbringing was
enshrined with the Jain pacifist teachings of mutual tolerance, non injury to living beings and
vegetarianism. Gandhi was born into a privileged castle and was provided with a comprehensive
education. At the age of 19, Gandhi left home to study law in London. Gandhi was determined to
adhere to his religious principles which included vegetarianism as well as alcohol and sexual
abstinence. Gandhi initially found London rather restrictive however eventually delved into the
philosophical study of religions which included: Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism and others. After
admission to the English Bar he returned to India where he at first struggled but then in 1893 joined an
Indian firm in South Africa. Gandhi then spent the next 21 years of his life living in South Africa and
within those 21 years he railed against the injustice or racial segregation. On one occasion Gandhi was

own. Still, I feel inept sometimes in the area of English. Taking Advanced Placement courses in high
school was a wake up to this. I remember, one defining moment for showing how much further I have
to improve was in my AP Language Arts and Composition class. I was full of false confidence going
into writing the essay that would eventually be submitted to many colleges and universities in hopes
of accepting me into their school. I thought this would be easy after going through most of my first AP
English course, but this was not the case. I was stumped. The one concept I did have did not change,
even though it might have been better if it did. Mean Girls like the movie Mean Girls, but in my actual
life, was the inspiration and major focus of the essay telling colleges how I came to be who I am
today. It is a story about me being a bully with the popular girls in elementary school while also being
bullied by them in turn, especially once I figured out their pattern. It is not a very happy story, nor
does it make me look good, but it is a story of me finding better moral standards and seeing the error
in this behavior long before the other girls did. I

St. Julian In The Haut Médoc Case Study
A RICH LADY IN Bacchus neighborhood was divorcing her husband and had a garage sale of his
large wine collection. Bacchus flew there like a bee towards clover. An older lady had a bottle of
Charmes Chambertin in her hand marked $2 and kept picking it up and putting it down on the table.
Bacchus is too much a gentleman to push over a little old lady, but how he prayed to the wine god to
make the lady choose the THUNDERBIRD, over the CHAMBERTIN. That s exactly what she did
and Bacchus thankfully picked up the Chambertin. Bacchus saw another famous label at a commercial
wine garage sale. He picked up the bottle and there was lots of sticky stuff around the bottle capsule
and the white wine had a brown tinge to it. These are two signs that the wine had been improperly
stored and that it was now maderized. CAVEAT EMPTOR, Youalls. CHÂTEAU BEYCHEVELLE
($80 and up) from St. Julian in the Haut Médoc is one of Bacchus favorite Bordeaux wines. It is
classified as a FOURTH GROWTH, but in a good year, it can almost ... Show more content on

This is the greatest of all the great Sauternes. It was a favorite of the Russian Tsars (no wonder they
had a revolution there!) Even democratic Thomas Jefferson loved the wine, and sometimes you hear
of a bottle with the initials TJ on it being found. As a sweet dessert wine, Château D Yquem is truly in
a class by itself. Full of honey, thick glycerin, and pretty flowers, this wine is a fantastic value for the
unique quality it produces. The Bacchuses walked through nearby vineyards, and the superiority of the
growing grapes, the grounds, and the buildings shout out the royalty of Château D Yquem. Great
Sauternes and Barsacs are created by noble rot BOTRYTIS CINEREA, a black mold that grows on the
grape skins, sucking the water out of the grapes, thereby concentrating flavorings, sugars, and other
good ingredients of grapes. Château D Yquem and plain pound cake make an exquisite

Analysis Of The Book Hot Shot
Director Euros Lyn establishes a dark future in Fifteen Million Merits where the members of society
are trapped in a perpetual cycle of earning currency through riding exercise bikes to pay for an endless
supply of entertainment at their fingertips. They are cycling to power their environment and
entertainment is the way that they are sucked into the vicious cycle that keeps them cycling like
slaves. The citizens autonomy is limited to tasks such as choosing what to watch on their screens,
choosing what food to eat from a preselected array, and choosing how to dress their virtual avatar. The
second episode of Black Mirror tells the story of Bingham Bing Madsen (Daniel Kaluuya) trying to
help Abi Khan (Jessica Brown Findlay) use her impressive singing voice to break from the system.
Bing funds and convinces Abi to pursue the game show Hot Shot which provides a rare but expensive
opportunity to stand out from the everyday cycling residents. The plan ultimately backfires which
reveals the stranglehold that the entertainment driven culture has on the inhabitants. Through a
futuristic dystopian setting, Lyn s Fifteen Million Merits shows the different ways that entertainment
in society can be used to skew the residents values and control their lives and actions. Entertainment
bends the society s values towards pro fitness and fat shaming which creates a hierarchy. Fat shaming
in the society s entertainment is very available and prominent. People can watch the

Examples Of Hegemonic Masculinity
Writing Assignment 5
In gender studies, hegemonic masculinity is the norms and values upheld as an ideal for all males. The
concept of hegemonic masculinity was proposed first from a field study in Australian high schools of
social inequality by Kessler. (Kessler et al. 1982) The concept was later made popular by sociologist
R.W. Connell. All men are upheld to the image of being the strongest and most aggressive, and to hold
the power over women and other men. What do males have that lead them to commit more crime?
That question has been noted for years, but no one can pinpoint the exact answer. Some sociologist
denote masculinity to the answer of the previous question. From a young age, men are perfectly
characterized as someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2012, H M used soccer star David Beckham is perhaps one of the most vivid ads still today.
Beckham, a tattooed, athletic and muscular man, embodies hegemonic masculinity to a sporting
audience. Because Beckham is a globally recognized, the commercial does not need to add his athletic
ability, financial statues, and wife to gain audience viewers. By being married, Beckham is observed
to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary
man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display
hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in
the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess.
Disney s artist create these male roles to be larger than the other characters and displaying more
muscle. Most of these characters, and many I didn t mention, didn t just save the princess easily. They
went through a difficult task to be portrayed as a

A Brief Note On Access Control Access Controls
Thus majority of the respondents think frequent change of password is necessary but not manageable
which indicate usability issues like inability to create passwords as frequently as obligatory. Inglesant
and Sasse (2010) found that end users experience with password security policy is that of rigidity in
regards to their skills and official responsibilities.
Inglesant and Sasse (2010) also found an improvement in the number of their respondents that is 9 out
of 32 respondents wrote down their passwords as end users are more aware of data security.
Access control limit access to sensitive data based on organisation policies by determining who and
how data can be accessed based on a need to know of an entity like an employee s name, position or
something you are like fingerprints (Goodrich and Tamassia 2011, Kizza 2010). Additionally identity
depends on other characteristics such as something you are acquainted with like password and
something you have like secret encryption key. Access control is based on the assumption that only the
authorized entity has possession of what they are, know or have (Shabtai, Yuval and Rokach 2012).
However access control is limited in preventing data leakage due to social engineering and
networking. This have led to recent development of using more than one form of access control in a
process called layered authentication like audio visual interfaces (Jang Jaccard and Nepal 2014).
Access control also holds employees accountable

  • 2. Different Methods For Cleaning Water b.t = Before treatment Submission Date 3/1/2016 a.t = After treatment Nathaniel Cheng, Benjamin Sullivan, Connor McCarthy 6W Water Quality Summary: In this experiment, different methods for cleaning water were used to see how they affected the water quality. The hypothesis was that boiling water and then pouring it through a carbon sac would clean the pond water effectively. This is because when the water is boiled, it kills most bacteria and evaporates chlorine. Then the carbon filter would clear out the suspended matter and some chemicals such as nitrate. The hypothesis was correct in that most of the measurement categories except for turbidity because the carbon sac accidentally made the water turn black ish. A source of error was that the 225 ml sample had to be split into three containers but it was not split. This was fixed by splitting the remaining water into two containers and then running it through the procedure again and measuring that. In the end, the method was good for cleaning water but could not instantly make dirty pond water drinkable. Introduction The objective is to see how boiling water and then pouring it through a carbon sac will improve water quality. This method of cleaning water will be the most effective because boiling kills chlorine but has no effect on suspended matter. However, the carbon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Differences Of The Las Vegas Shootings The two topics this paper will be discussing are the Las Vegas shooting and how California was the first state to have three different genders options to choose from. The first headline being discussed is the Vegas shooting. According to CNN authors, Stephen Poddock was the deadliest mass shooter in modern US history. His relentless gunfire police say he fired for nine to 11 minutes after the first 911 call on country music fans at an outdoor concert left 58 people dead, (Yan, Park, and Simon). Poddock was staying in room on the 32nd floor at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas strip. After thousands of rounds were fired, Vegas police found Poddock dead in his Mandalay Bay hotel room. According to Ken Ritter from the Washington Post Poddock s body was sent to Stanford for multiple forensic analyses to be done on his brain. After a visual inspection of Paddock s brain during a coroner s autopsy found no abnormalities, (Ritter). The FBI did state that this doesn t have anything to do with a terrorism attack. This day will never be forgotten across America because we lost 52 of our own people. Jason Aldean shared that all of his crew members along with himself were all safe, but had to cancel their upcoming shows. He also stated that it will hard to get back on the stage. • 5. The Importance Of Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning is also referred to as Pavlovian or Respondent conditioning. It is a process of learning whereby a stimulus that is biologically potent such as food and a previously neutral stimulus such as a bell are paired. This write up aims to expound further on classical conditioning and why it matters (Gormezano at al, 275).This is because despite the fact that many people use the term a lot, they may not necessarily fully comprehend it meaning or the fact that it is by far one of the most basic forms when it comes to basic forms of learning. Most folks who do know something about it will quickly refer to Ian Pavlov s experiment with dogs and a bell that took place way back in 1927 and will normally end at that point due to lack of further insight on the subject matter.Classical conditioning is centered around involuntary automatic/reflexive responses rather than on operant conditioning (voluntary behavior). This therefore implies that for perfect classicconditioning to occur the responses are those that are made naturally by an animal being trained and that the responses must occur below the normal consciousness levels. Such responses include fast or slow heartbeat, nausea, and dilation of pupils or a sudden reaction to pain or pressure (Brewer $ William, 123).Usually the classic conditioning starts with an unconditional stimulus being paired with a neutral one. The neutral stimulus must be one that cannot or does not provoke any type of reaction from the test subject. The unconditional stimulus on the other hand needs to be something that provides reliable results when tested on the subject by producing an immediate natural response from the organism. This includes shining a light on the human eye in which case the pupil naturally reduces in size to limit the amount of light entering the eye. This is an example of a perfect unconditional response abbreviated as UCR by the scientist Pavlov in 1927. The moment the neutral stimulus is associated with the unconditional stimulus, it immediately becomes a conditional stimulus and if the two stimuli can occur together over a period of time, then they become associated which ... The Role And Responsibilities Of The Nurse As the nurse leader progresses through the strategic planning process, he or she must take into consideration the financial costs and timeline required to implement their strategic plan. Developing an operational budget and a realistic timeline are critical elements in ensuring the strategic plan is successfully implemented (Lee Jones, 2004). Financial Resources For many years now, healthcare organizations in Canada have faced financial challenges as a result of lower healthcare spending and increased expenses (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2014, para.1). Therefore, before the introduction of any new initiative, the nurse leader must ensure the change does not bring any financial hardship to the organization and resources are used in a cost effective manner (Marquis Huston, 2015). For this planned change, there is no financial cost with revising the role and responsibilities of all the Nurse Clinicians and the existing budget is the financial resource that will cover the cost of adding another Nurse Clinician The largest financial aspect of this planned change is the salary of the new Nurse Clinician. In this case, when creating another role the nurse manager has to ensure the change will be cost neutral to the organization, meaning the addition of one Nurse Clinician will have no impact on the overall budget. To accomplish this, the nurse manager responsible for the Clinicians explained that when the unit assessors were doing the MDS, every unit in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Halo and its single player campaign held a vast universe and followed the Spartan warriors into battle to save the Earth from the alien invasion of 2 different races while Call of Duty has switched from World War 2 and the Modern era. I must say, the World War 2 story lines were quite boring, being the same in almost every way, but the Modern Warfare story line caught my attention. With the evil villain Makarov and the twists and turns the story made in Modern Warfare 2, I was on the edge of my seat. But, Halo was in every way better in the single player front. Following genetically enhanced Spartan warriors into battle fighting off hordes of aliens I was amazed with how deep the story got and how Bungie used every asset they could to enhance the story further in a not so crazy way. Ah co op. The lovely days of playing a game with a friend right beside you on a Saturday will never be forgotten. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock) and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc. Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of women. • 11. The Symbolism Of A High End Luxury Brand The typical impression someone leaves are often the first impression. Judgement based on appearance is not a new concept. Scientifically proven, it takes a set amount of three seconds to determine the type of impression the subject leaves. In those three seconds, appearance can be based on physical looks and/or materialistic items. The symbolism of a high end luxury brand can imply the social standing of a certain individual as well as their physical appearance. It is an invitation for society to judge ones appearance and attitude, solely based upon what type of brand they wear and how they look. In the concept of appearance, most people use their appearance as a tool to express their own individualized style. With having individualized style, it works hand in hand with using fashion as a way to identify ones social standing. As trends come and go, there are dedicated advocates of certain styles. Those advocates might relate to that style by dressing in various different outfits that can be jumbled up into a certain category. However, there are a few individuals that have certain looks that sets them apart from the crowd. For example, in the mid 1960 s, British teenage model, Twiggy, created a marketable style of an androgynous look consisting of large eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. That became her trademark and caused an uprising in her career as a significant pioneer in the fashion industry. Her appearance created a whole new way of using a trademark as a way of ... It was published in 1815 with a new revision after realizing there were words that needed to be changed in Poet in Two Volumes edition (Abishek, 2013). This poem is one of the examples of romantic era. I love this poem because the content is related to nature. It is true with the statement from Xiaolin Huang, Feifei Pei, and Changle Fu (2014) that William Wordsworth often called himself as A Worshiper of Nature so everyone called him as a poet of nature. These daffodils grew under the trees and were close to the lake. The breeze made these daffodils easily fluttering like they were happily dancing. While in the second stanza, the poet saw these flowers shining and twinkling brightly like stars in the Milky Way. They spread over a large area along the bay margin with a huge quantity. Moreover, in the third stanza, the poet tells that both of lake and daffodils were also dancing. He shows that the daffodils looked beautiful rather than the sparkling of the lake because the daffodils have more glee. Here he shows the loneliness gradually turning into happiness because of his companions (lake and daffodils) but he could not understand what he gained from his experience. For final stanza, it tells that whenever the poet felt loneliness, he could remember the happiness when he saw the dancing daffodils. • 13. Aquinas Cosmological Argument Essay Aquinas Cosmological Argument is a method for proving God s existence and its foundation is based on the fact and observation that the universe exists. Aquinas states that in order for the universe to exist (an idea that we know to be true), there must also exist a cause that caused the existence of the universe. He concludes his argument by saying that God, an unperceivable image, is the cause of the universe, which further verifies His existence. This argument proves that in order to accept the factual, former claim that the universe exists, it is necessary to accept the latter claim that God exists as well. Anselm s motto, Faith Seeking Understanding, has to do with the search for a deeper knowledge of God and asserts the idea that faith in Him comes before understanding God in His entirety. Anselm claims that we don t have to understand God in order to have faith or belief in Him. • 21. Soybeans, Maize, And Rapeseed Essay Soybeans, maize, and rapeseed are raw commodities where the primary use is inputs in the feed, food, and drink industries. Appendix A Figure 2.A.1 lists the wide spectrum of food industries where soybeans, maize, and rapeseed are used as inputs. Since the value of these crops is low compared to the final products in which they are typically inputs infers that transport and storage must often be organized in bulk in order for operational and transaction costs to be kept low. The current supply chain structure in which these crops are traded creates several possibilities for impurities or co mingling. It is common practice in food safety regulations to allow a minimum presence of unintended materials like dirt, weed seeds, and mycotoxins in crop shipments (Backus et al. 2008). However, this may not always be the case regarding the unintended presence of traces of an unapproved GM event in the non GM crops (whether crops where no GM approvals have been made or crops where GM varieties have been commercialized). • 26. The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999). Socrates is well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian democracy, his development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern of virtue. However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Plato s writings, as he did not leave any behind. Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that the most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of wealth or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and justly. As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately lead to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia (Happiness). However, what is virtue? As mentioned in Plato s Meno, Socrates himself did not know what virtue is. Virtue is defined as any behaviour showing high moral standards. Synonyms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amphipathicity In Negatively Charged Membranes As previously suggested, AMPs can partition themselves into the lipid rich areas of biomembranes and disrupt the proper functioning of bacterial lipids regulating cell division. Hydrophobicity is an important factor that determines the extent to which an AMP can distribute itself among membrane lipids. The percentage of hydrophobic residues in a peptide is termed hydrophobicity. It is usually at 50% for most peptides. [1] However, highly hydrophobic peptides can prove to be toxic to the cell, therefore AMPs must be moderately toxic to be able to show antimicrobial activity while at the same time have minimal effect on mammalian cells. Antibiotic resistant pathogens have evolved various mechanisms to evade antibiotic action. These include preventing the antibiotic from binding or entering it, modifying the binding site of the antibiotic or producing an enzyme that deactivates the antibiotic. Therefore it has become crucial to be able to design new antimicrobial substances that can overcome these existing antibiotic resistant pathogens. [3] Such an antimicrobial agent should be highly target specific, making them non toxic towards mammalian cells. This is not very difficult to achieve since there are significant differences between mammalian and microbial cells based on structural features, membrane charge and composition, transmembrane potential etc. as discussed above. Due to their ability to permealibilize microbial membranes, AMPs have the potential to act synergistically by facilitating the passage of antibiotics across the microbial membranes. Moreover, it is difficult for microbial cells to develop resistance towards AMPs. This is possibly due to the fact that AMPs attack the entire cytoplasm as well as intracellular molecules, and kill bacterial cells very quickly using several complex mechanisms. ... • 33. Language In The Korean Language The Korean language contains unique characteristics that differentiate it from thousands of other languages. While writing and speaking in languages are typically synonymous with each other, the two structures themselves differently in the Korean language. Without the knowledge of the difference between writing and speaking in Korean, becoming fluent in the language can prove to be a difficulty (P. S. Hsiang, pg. 1). The intimidating and strenuous format of the language creates an easier understanding, despite its paradoxical appearance. However, the function of the format makes conversing and expressing oneself much quicker and easier; toddlers between the ages of two and three retain the ability to state their thoughts and feelings, while most Americans who are taught English can only speak following a two word format that only consists of nouns and possible prepositions. Koreans who are taught Hangul can link these two ideas together, and develop quickly enough later in life to master the language by age 4 (Korean Overseas Information Service, pg. 1). These quick milestone achievements that Koreans experience when learning Hangul owes itself to its structure; their alphabet splits itself into consonants and vowels, each section only having around 10 14 letters. The combination of the two divisions creates a quicker understanding when kids differentiate between what letters to use in a word, as opposed to English s homogenous 26 letters we must choose from. The history and cleverness behind the creation of Hangul find itself at the beginning of rich Korean history, with their 14th century king, Sejong the Great, also complemented with their language variation, and honorifics. The beginning of the Korean language starts off with the creation of the Korean alphabet. During the 14th century, around 1440 of the Yi Dynasty, King Sejong composed of their writing system, which had about 28 symbols. They are used to build pile foundations, which are deep and which cost more than shallow foundations. Despite the cost, the use of piles often is necessary to ensure structural safety. The following list identifies some of the condition that require pile foundations. 1.When the upper soil layers are highly compressible and too weak to carry the load transmitted by the superstructure, piles are used for transmitting the load to underlying bedrocks or a stronger soil layer, as shown in figure(a). When bedrock is not encountered at a reasonable depth below the ground surface, piles are used to transmit the structural load to the soil. The resistance to the applied structural load is derived mainly from the frictional resistance developed at the soil pile interface (figure (b)). Figure 4.1 Pile Requirements 2. When subjected to horizontal forces, pile foundations resist by bending while still supporting the vertical load transmitted by the superstructure. This type of situation is generally encountered in the design and construction of earth retaining structures and foundations of tall structures that are subject to high wind and/or earthquake forces. 3. He picked up the bottle and there was lots of sticky stuff around the bottle capsule and the white wine had a brown tinge to it. These are two signs that the wine had been improperly stored and that it was now maderized. CAVEAT EMPTOR, Youalls. Even democratic Thomas Jefferson loved the wine, and sometimes you hear of a bottle with the initials TJ on it being found. As a sweet dessert wine, Château D Yquem is truly in a class by itself. Full of honey, thick glycerin, and pretty flowers, this wine is a fantastic value for the unique quality it produces. The Bacchuses walked through nearby vineyards, and the superiority of the growing grapes, the grounds, and the buildings shout out the royalty of Château D Yquem. Great Sauternes and Barsacs are created by noble rot BOTRYTIS CINEREA, a black mold that grows on the grape skins, sucking the water out of the grapes, thereby concentrating flavorings, sugars, and other good ingredients of grapes. Analysis Of The Book Hot Shot Director Euros Lyn establishes a dark future in Fifteen Million Merits where the members of society are trapped in a perpetual cycle of earning currency through riding exercise bikes to pay for an endless supply of entertainment at their fingertips. They are cycling to power their environment and entertainment is the way that they are sucked into the vicious cycle that keeps them cycling like slaves. The citizens autonomy is limited to tasks such as choosing what to watch on their screens, choosing what food to eat from a preselected array, and choosing how to dress their virtual avatar. The second episode of Black Mirror tells the story of Bingham Bing Madsen (Daniel Kaluuya) trying to help Abi Khan (Jessica Brown Findlay) use her impressive singing voice to break from the system. Bing funds and convinces Abi to pursue the game show Hot Shot which provides a rare but expensive opportunity to stand out from the everyday cycling residents. The plan ultimately backfires which reveals the stranglehold that the entertainment driven culture has on the inhabitants. In 2012, H M used soccer star David Beckham is perhaps one of the most vivid ads still today. Beckham, a tattooed, athletic and muscular man, embodies hegemonic masculinity to a sporting audience. Because Beckham is a globally recognized, the commercial does not need to add his athletic ability, financial statues, and wife to gain audience viewers. By being married, Beckham is observed to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess. Disney s artist create these male roles to be larger than the other characters and displaying more muscle. Most of these characters, and many I didn t mention, didn t just save the princess easily. They went through a difficult task to be portrayed as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inglesant and Sasse (2010) also found an improvement in the number of their respondents that is 9 out of 32 respondents wrote down their passwords as end users are more aware of data security. Access control limit access to sensitive data based on organisation policies by determining who and how data can be accessed based on a need to know of an entity like an employee s name, position or something you are like fingerprints (Goodrich and Tamassia 2011, Kizza 2010). Additionally identity depends on other characteristics such as something you are acquainted with like password and something you have like secret encryption key. Access control is based on the assumption that only the authorized entity has possession of what they are, know or have (Shabtai, Yuval and Rokach 2012). However access control is limited in preventing data leakage due to social engineering and networking. This have led to recent development of using more than one form of access control in a process called layered authentication like audio visual interfaces (Jang Jaccard and Nepal 2014). Access control also holds employees accountable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
