The behavior I chose was temper tantrums. When a authority figure gives in to this type of
misbehavior it teaches a child that this is the easiest way to produce a desired outcome. When this
behavior goes untreated it can cause problems at school and in public situation, and result in the child
not feeling the need to show effort because they can receive what they want not through hard work,

Why does a person behave the way they do? Why does each person have a distinct personality?
Scientists believe that this has to do with nature and nurture. Meaning, a person s social activities, and
personality are dictated by the traits they have inherited from their parents, but also from
environmental influences. There are four agents of socialization that have been chosen as the most
impacting on a person s life. These agents of socialization influence how a person will behave,
influence, and think among society. Although the family has been categorized as the most influential
agent of socialization, this is not the only agent that impacts a person life. In this essay, I will go over
how family, peer groups, school, and mass media affect a person from an early age and the impacts it
brings to society.
Notebaly, in societies, the family is the most and the primary agent of socialization on young children.
By interacting with their families, children are able to first learn the values, norms, and beliefs of
society. Socialization in a family setting can be both deliberate and unintended. A father may teach his
children about the importance of telling the truth or being considerate of others. Likewise, a mother
might teach her children the aspects of spending and saving money, these are deliberate or intended
social activities. Usually, unintended social activities have more of an impact on children than

Meela has been isolated her entire life, destined to one day inherit the role of the Thaumaturge. When
the barrier protecting the Island she lives on is destroyed, taking most of the remaining fuel source
with it, Meela sees her chance to escape. She must journey with her older sister, Saleem, to the other
side of the world in order to find their brother who has been working on a solution. For my
dissertation, I will be writing a young adult epic fantasy novel in order to explore whether or not there
is a change in expectations to the hero s journey if the hero is female rather than male. Within this, I
will be investigating what it means to be a strong female character, whether a romantic partner for the
hero is needed for a successful journey, and the expectations of female characters within epic fantasy
and young adult literature, including society s expectations and portrayal of women in the media.
In order to write about the hero s journey, I must first research what the journey usually entails in
order to understand what a hero is often faced with and whether or not gender of the hero will affect
the journey they must complete. Fantasy often borrows the theme of quest in order to explore ideas
around power (Kilian, 2007) which is always at the heart of the hero s journey. Joseph Campbell

Using Hammurabi s Code as an example, the author describes the relationship between humans and
animals as owner and property. As stated by Hammurabi s Code, domesticated animals were valuable
property and were subject to use by humans. Justinian s code is also referenced, allowing humans
access to any animal that is captured. These prehistoric codes have shaped the mindset of many,
leading humans to believe in a natural superiority over animals. This superiority has reduced the status
of animals from living, breathing, wildlife, to simple property. Per the Laws chapter, this superior
mindset is not a new concept.

David is a marble statue seen as a nude male and is 17 feet tall. The sculpture is in Florence Italy in
Galleria dell Accademia. This sculpture took Michelangelo three years to complete and was finished

However, I will maintain that the Washington Consensus is the combination of neoliberal policy
