Impact of Rhythm and Blues on African-American Culture Essay
Rhythm and blues, also known today as R B , has been one of the most influential genres of music
within the African American Culture, and has evolved over many decades in style and sound.
Emerging in the late 1940 s rhythm and blues, sometimes called jump blues, became dominant
black popular music during and after WWII. Rhythm and bluesartists often sung about love,
relationships, life troubles, and sometimes focused on segregation and race struggles. Rhythm and
blueshelped embody what was unique about black American culture and validate it as something
distinctive and valuable. The term rhythm and blues was coined in 1947 by a white man named
Jerry Wexler who was a reporter, editor, and writer for Billboard Magazine. The record

From the 1950 s to the 1970 s rhythm and blues bands usually consisted of piano, guitars, drums
saxophone, bass, and were sometimes accompanied by background vocalists. New World
Encyclopedia (2008) states As rhythm and blues combined the elements of jazz, gospel music and
the blues, it thus created a very personalized form of melody and rhythm which has become
known as one of the outstanding styles of American music. From jazz and its combination of
African black folk music blended with European folk and pop music, rhythm and blues
incorporated the syncopated beats supported by colorful chordal combinations to mirror the
emotions and experiences of the composer and singer/musician. The term rhythm and blues has
had several different meanings. In the early 1950 s it applied to blues records, in the late 1950 s
it applied to electric blues along with gospel and soul, in the 1960 s it was called soul music, and
in the 1970 s it was a blanket term for soul, funk, and disco. Much of the popular electric guitar led
blues bands like Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and BB King that came from Memphis and Chicago
were considered rhythm and blues since they appealed to the older demographic. The broadcasting
and recording industries did not solely represent the conquering racial assumptions of the 1950 s,
they internalized them and helped to continue them. Racial conventions permeated the organization
and structure of the music industry at every level. The very existence

Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate
CS25410 Assignment Report
The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible
inputs; a ВЈ1 coin paid in, a ВЈ2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the
amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received
ВЈ4 it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is
received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other
behaviours are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money
paid into the machine towards an entry fee e.g. a ВЈ1 LED if ВЈ1 is in memory etc. up to the
maximum of ВЈ3, In the circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input.
The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and
output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01
representing ВЈ1, 10 representing ВЈ2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared
once it has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3
bits of memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, ВЈ0 to ВЈ5, the 1 and 2 bit are only
affected once an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of
the 2 bit memory and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the
assignment specification.

Reformation And Riots. Throughout History, There Have Been
Reformation and Riots Throughout history, there have been reforms and revolts of every stripe.
However the most notable would be the renovations that took place in the nineteenth century and
the riots that soon followed those changes. An example of these mentioned the radicals that had
been involved in the civil unrest that had been caused by the poor working conditions and low
wages of factoryworkers. This triggered retaliation by the captains of industry from the likes of
Andrew Carnegie and Rockefeller. The issues of riots the factors are long hours, poor working
conditions, and the threat of losing a job from going on strike, and low wages. If you were a

As a consequence, of a steel mill owner like Andrew Carnegie, only caring about how to keep the
mill running efficiently and keeping costs low, many of these robber barons resolved this problem
by squeezing the amount of money that running the mill would be or having to replace machinery.
Instead, they kept the old machinery; this eventually leads to most American steel companies to go
out of business later down the line. American steel finally ran its course, as other countries began to
develop and have their industrial revolutions. These countries soon would pass up the American
steel industry and replace American as the leader in steelmaking and production. Because of the
horrid working conditions, many workers went on strike the demonstrate their unrest at the
dangerous situations in the factories and of course the long hours. Unfortunately, the moment
that the workers decided to go on strike they were instantly fired from their jobs. However, some
employees disagreed with the strikers and decided to go to work. These people were known as
scabs along with the scabs, factory managers hired immigrants to replace the employees that have
been fired for going on strike. The constant threat of losing a job for going on strike was always
there for factory employees. An example of this would be the Haymarket riot in which many
workers walked out of the plants, and decided to

How Does Stock Market Volatility Affect The Mortgage...
You may not think much about the stock market when thinking of buying a house because you
probably don t think there is any relationship between the two. However, it is important to keep
track of stock market performance, especially during times of volatility because it does have a
direct impact on your cost of home ownership.
Cheap financing is a major driver of the mortgage industry. When buyers can access cheap funds, it
serves as an encouragement to purchase houses while high interest rates dampen enthusiasm.
Prospective home buyers therefore need to keep an eye on the stock market in determining when
it is the best time to make a purchase as this could mean paying more or less for your home in the
long term.
How stock market volatility affects the mortgage industry
Effect on cost of bonds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since mortgages form a significant portion of this market, the implication is an increase in money
supply for mortgages and therefore a lowering of interest rates. This means that buyers can access
cheaper funds to finance their home purchase.
Volatility in the stock prices can impact on the cost of home ownership because of its relationship to
mortgage interest rates. Although it isn t the only factor that affects mortgage rates, other economic
such as unemployment rate, inflation and the effect of demand and supply are still tied to the stock
market in one way or the other. The reason for this is that stock prices are quite sensitive to
economic uncertainties and subsequently sends a ripple effect of changes on other sectors
including housing.
On the other hand, an upward movement in the prices of stocks attracts investors leading to bonds
sell off and fund movement from bonds to stocks. The implication of this is an increase in interest
rates for mortgage

Fee Simple Research Paper
Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an
estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then
the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition
subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a
condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use
being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later
the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back.
The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible
/ qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee
simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Synonyms: fee simple qualified Antonyms: fee

There are two types of overall estates, freehold estates which are owned and less than freehold
estates which are rented or leased. There are two types of freehold estates: estate in fee and life
estates. A life estate is based on the life of a specified person. There are two types of estate in
fee, fee simple qualified and fee simple absolute. The fee simple qualified is based on some
condition (precedent or subsequent). The fee simple absolute is the completely unrestricted in any

absolute estate. Fee simple absolute is an estate in fee which means it is a perpetual estate or an
estate of inheritance too. The fact that a home is purchased instead of rented makes the estate a

thinking of North Korea.
Introduction This report is a cultural analysis of the country of North Korea. The paper itself
analyzes the history, geography, education, language, economy, and politics of the Democratic
People s Republic of Korea known simply as: North Korea. Group 4 chose this particular country
out of curiosity and the want to find out what the nation was like. Not many facts are known about
North Korea and its shady past. This project explores everything from the difficult relationships
between the Korean people and their government, to the famines and floods that threatened the
entire survival of the country. The research has shed light on the corruption of the North Korean
government and the reign of ruthless leaders such as Kim Il Sung and his son Kim Jong Il. The
politics of North Korea have been questionable at best in the nation s history. Finally they are
making progress to renew laws that better fit into North Korean society, but the process is slow.

A Critique For Clt.

A Critique for CLT
There has been a big shift in teaching languages away from the old traditional ways to the notion
of CLT, but like any modern notion, it should not be followed blindly by all institutions in all
parts of the world. To make the decision of whether or not it should be used in a particular class,
so many variables need to be examined including; the aims for learning and teaching a language, the
actual teaching process, the cultural acceptance and appropriateness of CLT, and the readiness for
teachers to use it.
What is CLT? Where did it come from?
Communicative language teaching (CLT) is based on the idea that language is but a mean for
communication, and so its primary goal is to achieve, what is called, communicative competence.
For CLT, a good language learner is one who can communicate well in a real life situation that
which involves a lot of strategies to keep a meaningful conversation and to avoid any
communication gap. Unlike the audio lingual method, which originally originated from
behaviorism, CLT did not have any psychological background. Thus, all that CLT material
developers and syllabus designers had was the broad theory that students learn best by doing. It was
all based on the general assumption that the learners communicative competence develops
automatically through their active participation

Islam Is The Religion Of The Muslims
Islam is the religion of the Muslims, a monotheistic faith regarded as revealed through Muhammad
as the Prophet of Allah. The origin of Islam is dated back to 622 A.D. in Saudi Arabia.
Muhammad experienced an angelic visitation. This is how the secular world views the start of
Islam, but according to Islamthere are much deeper roots. According the the Quran, it did not
originate with Muhammad, but it was given by Gabriel to Muhammad. Surah 26:192 195 says,
This is a revelation from the Lord of the universe. The Honest Spirit (Gabriel) came down with it,
to reveal it into your heart that you may be one of the warners, in a perfect Arabic tongue.
Muslims trace their faith back to Abraham, but they rather follow the family line of Ishmael to be
traced to Muhammad. As Christians we focus on the family line of Isaac and trace it to Jesus. They
say that Abraham and Ishmael established the rites of Hajj, or pilgrimage, which Muslims still
practice today. Those are the basic origins of the Islamic faith. We can relate Christianity, Judaism,
and Islam based on the fact that they trace their roots back to Abraham. Although, we can see
many differences between these religions in different beliefs. Islam is the youngest of the major
World Religions. Although, it is already the second youngest, and by 2020 it is planned for there
to be about 2.2 billions Muslims which is how many Christians there are now. There are many well

The Discovery Of The Indigenous Native Peoples
In 1492, when Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, he didn t anticipate the existence of the
indigenous native peoples that had inhabited the land for the past 10,000 years or more. Incidently,
Columbus didn t even consider that these people were native to the land or that he was on a new
founded continent. Colombus first considered them to be Indians from India but quickly he
realized his mistake. After gathering information and goods he returned home. In the 1500s Spanish
exploration led by conquistadors who led to the discovery of what would become known as the
PowhatanIndians after they found and kidnapped a young Algonquian boy. In 1607, the English
founded the colony of Jamestown in Virgina, just ten miles from the Powhatan capital of
Werowocomoco. The Powhatans were later forced to move their capital up the Chickahominy River
to Orapax to create distance between the Powhatans and the English settlers. The history between
the Powhatan Indians and the Europeans is a long one that passes through the early sixteenth
century to the late eighteenth century and even in the modern day era. Differences between the
Europeans and the Powhatans notoriously caused rivalry and conflict among them. The Algonquian
speaking Powhatan people were indigenous to the east coast of the North America. At it s largest,
the confederacy extended north of Alexandria along the Potomac River, south to the Neuse River
in North Carolina, west along Virginia s fall line, and east to the

Based on the CDA and corpus linguistics theories and gender studies, this study conducts an
analysis of how the descriptions and representations of rape incidents and the offenders and
victims in the discourse of rape cases have influence in the determination of rape cases in terms of

cases that are classified as hard criminals as the description of the offenders were the ones with
sexually violent and out of control tendencies, and strangers to the victims such as violent sexual
crime , and danger to female members of the public , thus, pose a great threat to the public. On the

Pros And Cons Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis has emerged over the last twenty years as an extremely effective tool to treat
everything from depression and OCD to quitting smoking and improving self confidence. Lack
of self confidence is more often than not something developed during childhood and
adolescence. It is something that quietly and subconsciously informs all of our actions and
perceptions. As such tackling it from a purely conscious or logical standpoint is going to be very
difficult. Those who have tried cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT often admit feeling a bit
disappointed at the treatments ability to tackle these deep, nebulous issues of self worth and self
confidence. This is because they are purely based in the conscious mind. While CBT type
approaches certainly have their place analysing your thoughts and feelings and trying to bring
them into line with reality is always a good idea CBT has become overly popular as a quick fix
solution to a myriad of problems that potentially it just isn t well suited for.
Hypnosis on the other hand, focuses exclusively on the deep subconscious. Most of us are born
with a fairly high level of self confidence we haven t yet begun to consider ourselves stupid or fat
or unlovable. These beliefs, unfortunately, creep in incredibly quickly. Our understanding of
ourselves and our relationship to the world is determined in ... Show more content on

The Hungry Tide Analysis
Nature in The Hungry Tide Nature and literature have constantly shared an intimate relationship as
demonstrated in the creations of artists and writers across generations in all societies of the world.
The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh is a novel about individuals of his Motherland and the nation
itself, beautiful, different, and mythical India. The writer exemplifies brilliant nature, individuals,
customs and even issues with tremendous love and respect. The ecological issues turn out to be
increasingly apparent, while the specialists do their best to overlook them. It is not only the
legislature at blame, but the citizens as well. The primary reason is obliviousness. The Hungry Tide,
develops nature by utilizing interlacing legends, experience, myths and history to uncover human
association with the non human world. It likewise makes an endeavor to discover his cognizant
engagement with the regular world that attracts our thinking to the tragedy of the global
environment. The novel manufactures a noticeable worry about the survival of a balanced
environment like the sundarbansand it also records The situation of the misplaced refugees in their
bountiful surroundings to guarantee their survival. The Hungry Tide steps into the environmental
conflict with a plea for moderation. The Hungry Tide pleas for the acknowledgement and
understanding of the predicament of the poor by environmentalists and of animals and nature by

Case Study Of Blockbuster
Introduction of Blockbuster
Blockbuster is the largest movie rental retailer. With its opening in 1985, Blockbuster has pursued
an ambiguous program of growth and expansion. Currently, Blockbuster owns and operates over
9,000 stores both domestically and internationally. In addition, Blockbuster franchises about a
quarter of its stores. It is important to note that Blockbuster is undergoing a managerial struggle at
the present time. The current CEO, John Antioco, and a major shareholder, Carl Icahn, are disputing
Blockbuster s strategy. Mr. Antioco has threatened to resign if Mr. Icahn succeeds at attaining a
position on the Board of Directors1. Mr. Antioco believes that Blockbuster needs to develop new

It could package soundtracks with movies to increase revenue, or sell and advertise popular
soundtracks at the front of the store to increase sales. Admittedly, there are only a few soundtracks
that gain mass popularity with consumers, and perhaps a very limited inventory of soundtracks for
sale could be advantageous.
Diversification: Developing new products in new markets can be a riskier strategy given the
unproven market place. However, if innovation is a business value it may be worth the risk as long
as you understand what s at stake.
Introduce Visa cards: Blockbuster should unveil Visa cards that earn the user credit toward video
rentals and music purchases. This would be a very creative idea and it would also help them to
cater the European and Asian markets.
Other products: Further expansion and success in the international market can be achieved by
introducing new books on audiotape and soft drinks should be sold at Blockbuster.
Venturing: Venture into other music businesses through a joint venture for example Virgin Records.

Pica And Rumination Research Paper
What exactly are pica and rumination disorder? Pica is the act of eating items that are non
nutritive, in other words they have little to no nutritional value to the human body. Things that
could be eaten include glass, couch cushions, chalk, glue, just about anything that normally would
not be considered to be taken into the body. This can happen because of trying to avoid high
calorie items foods and the desire for weight loss. Rumination disorder is when someone(typically
children) have swallowed food and spit it back up and begin chewing it again. This behavior does
not happen because of medical reasons either.
In the study, they used 149 females that had eating disorders and 100 men and women that were
considered obese. There were few reports of eating non edible objects. Barely anyone at from
either group met the criteria for pica. 7.4% of the people experienced rumination. The prevalence is
still unknown. The females with eating disorders had 93.8% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. The males and females from the other place had 95% of the patients had the same
diagnosis. These numbers are not far apart which could mean they are pretty closely related and
accurate, but this is not enough evidence to make the prevalence known. ... Show more content on

Family Law Research Paper
Family law is an area of law that is very interesting to me. Many people are unaware of exactly
what family law is and what it deals with. Most believe that family law is marriage, divorce, child

family law is so much more than that. Below I will discuss my reasons for choosing family law,

The first factor is the failure to react to changes in society or the marketplace. Many business
owners think that their success in the past will continue to work and help their business grow,
but in reality, society and demands change all the time, especially with the development of
technology. Failure to adapt to these changes will cause many businesses to become outdated
and lose to their competition. Another factor for failure is the inability to price a product or
service correctly. There are many examples of this, one including a business making a product
expensive for customers even though it isn t of high quality. This mistake will make businesses
lose their customer base and eventually fail. Another example is if a business tries to make a
high quality product, but also sell it for a cheap price. This will make the business lose money,
therefore narrowing its chances of achieving business success. Although there are many failure
factors, one important one that means the difference between a successful business and a failed
one is the lack of financial management. Good financial skills are needed in a business in order
to control and track the money that it earns and spends. An example of this failure factor is if a
business chooses to spend more money than it can earn, and also chooses to spend it on something
unproductive. This will cause the business to lose its money and fail. Overall, there are

This theory is not supported if we have dishonest athletes turning to anabolic steroid usage to beat

Taking Banned Performance Enhancing Substances: A Qualitative Study written by authors Derwin
K. C. Chan, Sarah J. Hardcastle, Vanessa Lentillon Kaestner, Robert J. Donovan, James A.
Dimmock, and Martin S. Hagger explains that:
Evidence suggests that despite comprehensive and ongoing deterrence and detection efforts by
antidoping agencies (e.g., World Anti Doping Agency [WADA]), the use of banned performance
enhancing substances among elite athletes remains pervasive in many sport disciplines (Alaranta et
al., 2006; Backhouse, McKenna, Robinson, Atkin, 2009; Laure Binsinger, 2007). In addition to the
moral and ethical issues arising from transgression of antidoping legislation, long term use of many
banned performance enhancing substances confers serious side effects deleterious to the health of
athletes (Lentillon Kaestner, Hagger, Hardcastle, 2012; Pipe Ayotte, 2002) (Chan et al. 241 42).
This statement elicits themes likely to affect beliefs and attitudes toward banned performance
enhancing substances as they should due to the unfair advantages these drugs bring about.
Whenever athletes compete for national competitions or even state competitions the use of steroids
and other performance enhancing supplements is

Similarities Between Everyman And The Pilgrim s Progress
Religion has played a significant role in the shaping and molding of human civilization. In the
Middle Ages, religion was a core pinnacle that served as a source of guidance and meaning for
individuals and the state. The medieval play, Everyman, explores the journey of Everyman to
Heaven and the phases he must go through in order to stand before God to give an account of his
life. Everyman was written during a time when the Catholic Church s practice of penance was
paramount as a means for attaining salvation. The personification of the everyday person and
spiritual qualities in this play gives an impressive insight into the trials and victories that are part of

the common individual through its emphasis on relationship. Everyman s longing for a friend is
an inherent desire of every Christian because it gives them a sense of community while seeking

Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal according to the

caused sea levels to rise, temperatures to rise, oceans to warm and rise, ice sheets to melt, and
extreme weather events along with many other impacts. 97% of scientists believe global warming is

History Of Modern Day Credit Cards

1900 s, they have continued to evolve and shape the way we as a society buy and pay for items.
The introduction of the credit card has completely changed the way we make purchases, large and

entire transaction at once, but we can now purchase these items with a credit card. Buying items
with a credit card means the merchant we buy from gets payment in full immediately, but the

used by banks and department stores, so that customers could charge their purchases at these
locations. The drawback, however, was that the customers could only use the cards at the issuing
location and they could not be used elsewhere. Credit cards were also implemented by oil
companies for their employees. In his article published for the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, Stan
Sienkiewicz states that such cards were accepted only at the business that issued the card and in
limited locations. While modern credit cards are mainly used for convenience, these predecessor
cards were developed as a means of creating customer loyalty and improving customer service.

Islamic Terrorism And Islamic Finance Essay
With its assets estimated to total nearly $1 trillion globally, Islamic finance remains tiny
compared to conventional finance with its tens of trillions of dollars. The market in Islamic
bonds, or sukuk, is believed to total about $50 billion, roughly 1 percent of global bond issuance.
In view of the financial crises which have been affecting the whole world, a solution in the name
of Islamic finance could be introduced. As the global economic slowdown becomes more severe
and protracted, many countries will be seeking alternatives, and Islamic finance can seize these new
opportunities by offering standardized Islamic finance products with prudent regulations and
supervisory arrangements. The beauty of the Islamic finance lies in its balanced and integrated
approach towards a development policy that is urgently called for in the current crisis, caused by
the awesome importance attached to the promotion of the financial sector alone. Islamic Finance is
a viable alternative to conventional finance. What is Islamic Finance? Islamic finance is any
finance that is compliant with the principles of Islamic law Shari ahs. In terms of finance, Shari ah
explains in detail the ethical concepts of money and capital, the relationship between risk and profit
and the social responsibilities of financial institutions. A distinctive feature of Islamic finance is that
it does not allow the creation of debt through the direct lending and borrowing of money or other
financial assets. The debts

The Honors Forum Analysis
The Honors Forum on January 24, 2017, helped with refining my personal life skills. Eric Rush,
a former member of the Honors Institute and Phi Theta Kappa officer, came to talk to Forum
about his experience at Hinds with the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa. He also talked
about how those experiences helped him now at Delta State University. I believed that hearing
Eric Rush s story is great because we listened to how he was once in our positions and is now
benefiting tremendously from it.
One thing this Forum did for me was allowing me to be in contentment with all of my decisions I
made at Hinds. I am glad that I decided to join the Honors Program my first semester at Hinds, and
I am grateful for my leadership studies and experience

Political Changes In Cuba
The country of Cuba is a nation that has gone through a great amount of change throughout its
history, especially during the period of the early 1960s up through the late 1970s. However, the
element of Cuba that has gone through the most change was its politics and international relations.
Cuba s politics and international relations with North America, South America, Europe and Africa
have been key factors and the reasons why Cubas economy, society and culture are shaped the way
they are now.
The year Castro and Che Guevara defeated Fulgencio Batista, Fidel took control of Cuba and
crowned himself the new prime minister of his country. The successful revolution represented one
of the most profound social transformations ever seen in the Americas (Strug, 68). Cuba, a country
that has always been controlled by a stronger nation throughout its history, was finally free. As
discussed in lecture, the United States was not happy with the success of the revolution due to the
fact that they had a great deal of investments in the country of Cuba and they could no longer
control the government as they once did. Once in power, Fidel Castro had the ... Show more content

As discussed in lecture, this covert mission in an attempt to invade Cuba and bring down Fidel
and was executed under the order of John F Kennedy. This attack failed miserably and led to the
capture and deaths of many Cuban exiles. The prisoners of war were freed by the Fidel Castro
after the United States agreed to pay Cuba fifty million dollars worth of food and medicine. This
standoff caught the eyes of all nations around the world especially to all the latin countries that
were excited that someone had finally stood up to the imperialist United States. Fidel Castro s
success against the United States led to dramatic increase in Cuban pride and the closer relationship

Huntington s Disease Study
Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by
progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per
100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative
disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The
result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes
damage to neurons. The striatum of the brainand the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene
but other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life
although an early onset form can occur before the age of 20.... Show more content on

compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results
showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to
the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite
suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and
absorption (Wang et al., 2014).
Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group
compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in
the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a
decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang
et al., 2014).
Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with
Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin
levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular
adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington
s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and
showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which
is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD
patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels

Support for High Definition IP Cameras
Brian Templin
DeVry University
NETW206: Introduction to Switching
Submitted to:
Professor: Timothy Roseberry
Date: 09/14/2014
This paper will take a look at all the setup needed for adding IP camera s to our network and also
have scalability of a little over 20 percent for future growth. The structure will begin at the access
level and then we will look at the switches we will be using and then we will move onto the
distribution and core levels switches. I have looked at the Cisco 3560 for the access layer which
is a 48 port and by using them we use these because the offer an enhanced security features as well
as PoE. This switch aslo offers sufficient bandwidth and low cost ... Show more content on

By adding the equipment that we have already discussed we will have no problem in adding these
camera s in many key areas and could have some set up for redundancy as well to cover key areas.
If for some reason a access switch were to go down and alternate image from over lapping
cameras can be used. Sense the switches we chose use the PoE all the cameras can be supplied
with power using the IEEE 802.1af which is standard. To optimize performance we should add the
flash memory card with a 64Mb compact flash for each unit. I also think that we should consider
Cisco SMARTnet extended service agreement and around the clock global access to the Cisco
Technical Assistance Center (TAC). This will give us any help we may need with problems with
equipment and setup.
For security on the network we will use the 802.1x this provide port security and provide port
based network access control as well as authenticated network access control. Using the 802.1x can
increase security by providing support for authentication, accounting, user identification and
dynamic key management. This level of security will also be able to set allow and deny network
for connectivity and also control VLAN access and many other traffic policies.

Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay
Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of
identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights
Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the
Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay
LiberationMovement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of
lesbian identity politicsa movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would
come to be coined the lavender menace of feminisma group of mostly Caucasian lesbians followed
later by the black lesbian feminist group, The Combahee River Collective.... Show more content on

After delivering the food, and being understandably annoyed with the task, she was belittled by a
male protestor who would have her as a sexual reward for sitting in. Black feminists, such as those
in the Combahee River Collective, experienced very similar discrimination in Civil Rights
campaigns, especially groups like the Black Panthers. Just like Jay, many African American women
were used as sexual remuneration to men who did good work within their organizations. This
patriarchy, antithetic to the goals of feminism, was the undoubted enemy of both these lesbian
organizations usurping it became one clear goal. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not
feel separate from African American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white
patriarchy. Understanding that they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them
sexually, almost supplements the idea that white men who controlled government and economy
were the ultimate oppressor. They did not feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black
men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the Collective connected with white lesbians against
patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within feminism as well as lesbianism. Secondly, we
see that if well known reformists were not male, they were heterosexual, the epitome being Betty
Friedan. This was the reason for the more specific goal of the two groups: battling hierarchy in

Investigating The Mass Rate Of Sodium Hypochlorite
INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of this two part experiment was to determine the mass percent of sodium hypochlorite
in a commercial chlorine bleach sample (lab website). Titration is used in this lab twice. In Part
one, students will use the solution of KIO3 primary standard and use this solution to standardize a
solution containing sodium thiosulfate. When the KI is added to the solution, it forms a brown
/yellow color. Then students used titration to add Na2SO3 to make the color go from brown/yellow
to colorless. In the second part of the lab, students used the standardized Na2SO3 solution to
determine the mass percent of sodium hypochlorite in the commercial chlorine bleach. Students
used titration to the standard solution of Na2SO3 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this, students used titration to add Na2SO3 to make the color go from brown/yellow to
colorless and then used that to figure out the concentration of Na2SO3. Having balanced chemical
equations are important because students need to use the mole to mole conversion and if the
equation isn t balanced correctly, the numbers that the students use in the experiment will be
messed up. The products on one side have to equal the reactants on the other side in order to be
useful. The molarity of KIO3 that students started off with was 0.01 M. Group two expected to
get similar results to that molarity. Instead, the actual results in the first trial concluded to be 0.098
M and 0.108 M for the second trial. The composition of the commercial bleach ended up to be
8.77%. Sources of error could ve come from the calculations. Students could ve miscalculated and
that messed up there results. Also, since measurements had to be exact, students could ve put more
or less of the solution in than that was needed. Another source of error could ve come from the
titration part. Since group

From the 1950 s to the 1970 s rhythm and blues bands usually consisted of piano, guitars, drums saxophone, bass, and were sometimes accompanied by background vocalists. New World Encyclopedia (2008) states As rhythm and blues combined the elements of jazz, gospel music and the blues, it thus created a very personalized form of melody and rhythm which has become known as one of the outstanding styles of American music. From jazz and its combination of African black folk music blended with European folk and pop music, rhythm and blues incorporated the syncopated beats supported by colorful chordal combinations to mirror the emotions and experiences of the composer and singer/musician. The term rhythm and blues has had several different meanings. In the early 1950 s it applied to blues records, in the late 1950 s it applied to electric blues along with gospel and soul, in the 1960 s it was called soul music, and in the 1970 s it was a blanket term for soul, funk, and disco. Much of the popular electric guitar led blues bands like Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and BB King that came from Memphis and Chicago were considered rhythm and blues since they appealed to the older demographic. • 4. Circuit Of Logisim That Controls An Entry Gate CS25410 Assignment Report The task was to implement a circuit in logisim that controls an entry gate. The gate has 3 possible inputs; a ВЈ1 coin paid in, a ВЈ2 coin paid in or the cancel button pressed. The gate must store the amount of money paid in and has four possible behaviours for outputs. Once the gate has received ВЈ4 it must open, in terms of implementation a LED must light up and stay lit until another input is received, any extra money in the machine must count towards the next entry fee. The other behaviours are based off when the cancel button is pressed, a LED relating to the amount of money paid into the machine towards an entry fee e.g. a ВЈ1 LED if ВЈ1 is in memory etc. up to the maximum of ВЈ3, In the circuit these LED s must stay on until the next input. The general structure of my implementation can be split up into three segments; Input, storage, and output. In the input section there are 2 bits of memory to temporarily store the 3 different inputs, 01 representing ВЈ1, 10 representing ВЈ2 and 11 representing cancel pressed. This memory is cleared once it has been clocked into the main storage of the system. The storage is implemented with 3 bits of memory as there are 6 possible states for the memory, ВЈ0 to ВЈ5, the 1 and 2 bit are only affected once an input has been clocked in however the 4 bit is only affected by the carry bit of the 2 bit memory and is cleared as soon as an input button has been pressed as this was part of the assignment specification. ... Instead, they kept the old machinery; this eventually leads to most American steel companies to go out of business later down the line. American steel finally ran its course, as other countries began to develop and have their industrial revolutions. These countries soon would pass up the American steel industry and replace American as the leader in steelmaking and production. Because of the horrid working conditions, many workers went on strike the demonstrate their unrest at the dangerous situations in the factories and of course the long hours. Unfortunately, the moment that the workers decided to go on strike they were instantly fired from their jobs. However, some employees disagreed with the strikers and decided to go to work. Name: Esraa Galal Salama Haiba M.A 2016 program A Critique for CLT There has been a big shift in teaching languages away from the old traditional ways to the notion of CLT, but like any modern notion, it should not be followed blindly by all institutions in all parts of the world. To make the decision of whether or not it should be used in a particular class, so many variables need to be examined including; the aims for learning and teaching a language, the actual teaching process, the cultural acceptance and appropriateness of CLT, and the readiness for teachers to use it. What is CLT? Where did it come from? Communicative language teaching (CLT) is based on the idea that language is but a mean for communication, and so its primary goal is to achieve, what is called, communicative competence. For CLT, a good language learner is one who can communicate well in a real life situation that which involves a lot of strategies to keep a meaningful conversation and to avoid any communication gap. Unlike the audio lingual method, which originally originated from behaviorism, CLT did not have any psychological background. Thus, all that CLT material developers and syllabus designers had was the broad theory that students learn best by doing. It was all based on the general assumption that the learners communicative competence develops automatically through their active participation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The origin of Islam is dated back to 622 A.D. in Saudi Arabia. Muhammad experienced an angelic visitation. This is how the secular world views the start of Islam, but according to Islamthere are much deeper roots. According the the Quran, it did not originate with Muhammad, but it was given by Gabriel to Muhammad. Surah 26:192 195 says, This is a revelation from the Lord of the universe. The Honest Spirit (Gabriel) came down with it, to reveal it into your heart that you may be one of the warners, in a perfect Arabic tongue. Muslims trace their faith back to Abraham, but they rather follow the family line of Ishmael to be traced to Muhammad. As Christians we focus on the family line of Isaac and trace it to Jesus. They say that Abraham and Ishmael established the rites of Hajj, or pilgrimage, which Muslims still practice today. Those are the basic origins of the Islamic faith. We can relate Christianity, Judaism, and Islam based on the fact that they trace their roots back to Abraham. Although, we can see many differences between these religions in different beliefs. Islam is the youngest of the major World Religions. The Discovery Of The Indigenous Native Peoples In 1492, when Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean, he didn t anticipate the existence of the indigenous native peoples that had inhabited the land for the past 10,000 years or more. Incidently, Columbus didn t even consider that these people were native to the land or that he was on a new founded continent. Colombus first considered them to be Indians from India but quickly he realized his mistake. After gathering information and goods he returned home. The Powhatans were later forced to move their capital up the Chickahominy River to Orapax to create distance between the Powhatans and the English settlers. The history between the Powhatan Indians and the Europeans is a long one that passes through the early sixteenth century to the late eighteenth century and even in the modern day era. Differences between the Europeans and the Powhatans notoriously caused rivalry and conflict among them. The Algonquian speaking Powhatan people were indigenous to the east coast of the North America. Many business owners think that their success in the past will continue to work and help their business grow, but in reality, society and demands change all the time, especially with the development of technology. Failure to adapt to these changes will cause many businesses to become outdated and lose to their competition. Another factor for failure is the inability to price a product or service correctly. There are many examples of this, one including a business making a product expensive for customers even though it isn t of high quality. This mistake will make businesses lose their customer base and eventually fail. Another example is if a business tries to make a high quality product, but also sell it for a cheap price. This will make the business lose money, therefore narrowing its chances of achieving business success. Buying items with a credit card means the merchant we buy from gets payment in full immediately, but the buyer can make monthly payments to the credit card company to gradually pay for the purchase. Credit cards had a humble beginning dating back to the 1900 s. The cards were first used by banks and department stores, so that customers could charge their purchases at these locations. The drawback, however, was that the customers could only use the cards at the issuing location and they could not be used elsewhere. Credit cards were also implemented by oil companies for their employees. In his article published for the Philadelphia Federal Reserve, Stan Sienkiewicz states that such cards were accepted only at the business that issued the card and in limited locations. While modern credit cards are mainly used for convenience, these predecessor cards were developed as a means of creating customer loyalty and improving customer service. • 42. Islamic Terrorism And Islamic Finance Essay With its assets estimated to total nearly $1 trillion globally, Islamic finance remains tiny compared to conventional finance with its tens of trillions of dollars. The market in Islamic bonds, or sukuk, is believed to total about $50 billion, roughly 1 percent of global bond issuance. In view of the financial crises which have been affecting the whole world, a solution in the name of Islamic finance could be introduced. As the global economic slowdown becomes more severe and protracted, many countries will be seeking alternatives, and Islamic finance can seize these new opportunities by offering standardized Islamic finance products with prudent regulations and supervisory arrangements. The beauty of the Islamic finance lies in its balanced and integrated approach towards a development policy that is urgently called for in the current crisis, caused by the awesome importance attached to the promotion of the financial sector alone. Islamic Finance is a viable alternative to conventional finance. What is Islamic Finance? Islamic finance is any finance that is compliant with the principles of Islamic law Shari ahs. Eric Rush, a former member of the Honors Institute and Phi Theta Kappa officer, came to talk to Forum about his experience at Hinds with the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa. He also talked about how those experiences helped him now at Delta State University. I believed that hearing Eric Rush s story is great because we listened to how he was once in our positions and is now benefiting tremendously from it. One thing this Forum did for me was allowing me to be in contentment with all of my decisions I made at Hinds. • 44. Political Changes In Cuba The country of Cuba is a nation that has gone through a great amount of change throughout its history, especially during the period of the early 1960s up through the late 1970s. However, the element of Cuba that has gone through the most change was its politics and international relations. Cuba s politics and international relations with North America, South America, Europe and Africa have been key factors and the reasons why Cubas economy, society and culture are shaped the way they are now. The year Castro and Che Guevara defeated Fulgencio Batista, Fidel took control of Cuba and crowned himself the new prime minister of his country. The successful revolution represented one of the most profound social transformations ever seen in the Americas (Strug, 68). Cuba, a country that has always been controlled by a stronger nation throughout its history, was finally free. As discussed in lecture, the United States was not happy with the success of the revolution due to the fact that they had a great deal of investments in the country of Cuba and they could no longer control the government as they once did. • 45. Huntington s Disease Study Huntington s disease, or HD, is a genetic neuro generative condition that is characterized by progressive dysfunction in motor, cognitive and behavioral abilities. There are about 4 10 cases per 100,000 throughout the world, which makes it one of the most prevalent genetic neuro generative disorders. Huntington s disease is a dominant gene mutation that occurs in the huntingtin gene. The result is an excessive repeat of the nucleotide triad cytosine adenine guanine (CAG) and causes damage to neurons. The striatum of the brainand the cerebral cortex are most affected by the gene but other parts of the brain atrophy as well. Typically, onset begins around the 4th decade of life although an early onset form can occur before the age of 20.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... compared the metabolic profiles of pre manifest, manifest HD and control groups. The results showed that amylin and ghrelin levels were significantly increased in all HD subjects compared to the control group. The increase in ghrelin, an appetite stimulant, and amylin, an appetite suppressant, demonstrates the numerous abnormalities regarding regulation of food ingestion and absorption (Wang et al., 2014). Another abnormality observed was a significant decrease in glucagon in the manifest HD group compared to the control group. Glucagon plays a major role in upholding normal metabolism in the body. It also acts as a protective agent by reducing the neurotoxic glutamate. Therefore, a decrease in glucagon can play a significant part in the pathogenesis of Huntington s disease (Wang et al., 2014). Adiponectin is a hormone that is released from adipose tissue and is negatively correlated with Body Mass Index. In HD subjects, this correlation was not significant. Decreased adiponectin levels is usually linked with obesity and insulin resistance. These changes suggest that irregular adipocyte function is associated with the metabolic changes in the pathophysiology of Huntington s disease. Prolactin and total cholesterol levels were also decreased in all HD subjects and showed erratic levels of leptin. This is likely due to impaired food digestion and absorption, which is also supported by the increased amylin levels. Essentially, the study s findings show that HD patients have a decreased ability to maintain metabolic homeostasis and abnormal hormone levels (Wang et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Netw206 week 1 assignment 1 Essay examples Support for High Definition IP Cameras Brian Templin DeVry University NETW206: Introduction to Switching Submitted to: Professor: Timothy Roseberry Date: 09/14/2014 This paper will take a look at all the setup needed for adding IP camera s to our network and also have scalability of a little over 20 percent for future growth. The structure will begin at the access level and then we will look at the switches we will be using and then we will move onto the distribution and core levels switches. I have looked at the Cisco 3560 for the access layer which is a 48 port and by using them we use these because the offer an enhanced security features as well as PoE. This switch aslo offers sufficient bandwidth and low cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By adding the equipment that we have already discussed we will have no problem in adding these camera s in many key areas and could have some set up for redundancy as well to cover key areas. If for some reason a access switch were to go down and alternate image from over lapping cameras can be used. Sense the switches we chose use the PoE all the cameras can be supplied with power using the IEEE 802.1af which is standard. To optimize performance we should add the flash memory card with a 64Mb compact flash for each unit. I also think that we should consider Cisco SMARTnet extended service agreement and around the clock global access to the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC). This will give us any help we may need with problems with equipment and setup. For security on the network we will use the 802.1x this provide port security and provide port based network access control as well as authenticated network access control. Using the 802.1x can increase security by providing support for authentication, accounting, user identification and dynamic key management. This level of security will also be able to set allow and deny network for connectivity and also control VLAN access and many other traffic policies. References Cisco. (n.d.). http://www.cisco.com. • 47. Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay LiberationMovement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of lesbian identity politicsa movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would come to be coined the lavender menace of feminisma group of mostly Caucasian lesbians followed later by the black lesbian feminist group, The Combahee River Collective.... After delivering the food, and being understandably annoyed with the task, she was belittled by a male protestor who would have her as a sexual reward for sitting in. Black feminists, such as those in the Combahee River Collective, experienced very similar discrimination in Civil Rights campaigns, especially groups like the Black Panthers. Just like Jay, many African American women were used as sexual remuneration to men who did good work within their organizations. This patriarchy, antithetic to the goals of feminism, was the undoubted enemy of both these lesbian organizations usurping it became one clear goal. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not feel separate from African American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white patriarchy. Understanding that they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them sexually, almost supplements the idea that white men who controlled government and economy were the ultimate oppressor. They did not feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the Collective connected with white lesbians against patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within feminism as well as lesbianism. Secondly, we see that if well known reformists were not male, they were heterosexual, the epitome being Betty Friedan. This was the reason for the more specific goal of the two groups: battling hierarchy in addition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Investigating The Mass Rate Of Sodium Hypochlorite INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this two part experiment was to determine the mass percent of sodium hypochlorite in a commercial chlorine bleach sample (lab website). Titration is used in this lab twice. In Part one, students will use the solution of KIO3 primary standard and use this solution to standardize a solution containing sodium thiosulfate. When the KI is added to the solution, it forms a brown /yellow color. Then students used titration to add Na2SO3 to make the color go from brown/yellow to colorless. In the second part of the lab, students used the standardized Na2SO3 solution to determine the mass percent of sodium hypochlorite in the commercial chlorine bleach. Students used titration to the standard solution of Na2SO3 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this, students used titration to add Na2SO3 to make the color go from brown/yellow to colorless and then used that to figure out the concentration of Na2SO3. Having balanced chemical equations are important because students need to use the mole to mole conversion and if the equation isn t balanced correctly, the numbers that the students use in the experiment will be messed up. The products on one side have to equal the reactants on the other side in order to be useful. The molarity of KIO3 that students started off with was 0.01 M. Group two expected to get similar results to that molarity. Instead, the actual results in the first trial concluded to be 0.098 M and 0.108 M for the second trial. The composition of the commercial bleach ended up to be 8.77%. Sources of error could ve come from the calculations. Students could ve miscalculated and that messed up there results. Also, since measurements had to be exact, students could ve put more or less of the solution in than that was needed. Another source of error could ve come from the titration part. Since group ...
