First Person In Cathedral
We gain many insights from the use of first person in Cathedral such as, the
narrator s opinions of blind people, the change of heart of the narrator, and how the
narrator felt after his sudden realization. An example of his biased opinion of blind
people includes when he said, In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never
laughed (32). These types of broad generalizations at the start help to show his
attitude leading up to his change of heart towards blind people. Through the use of
first person narration (175) and dynamic character (220), we get to see the narrator
change his opinion over time. For example, the narrator said, it was like nothing else
in my life up to now (42). This marked when the narrator started to become dynamic
Essay On MГ©tis Culture
The Recognition of MГ©tis Culture and Rights through Existing Legislation
Nobody deserves to be a nobody : unrecognized and unappreciated for their
uniqueness. This is the reason why throughout history, Canada has been working to
make sure that the MГ©tis are not nobodies . Canada has provided enough
recognition for MГ©tis culture and rights through existing legislation. Historically,
the Canadian government, or Dominion of Canada, has acted upon efforts to protect
MГ©tis land through legislation. Furthermore, MГ©tis inherent rights to land,
hunting, fishing and autonomy have been met with current and improved legislation.
The MГ©tis are now recognized as Aboriginal peoples and share the same rights
through Section 35 of the Constitution. These pieces of legislation make it possible ...

This was established first in Section 35 of the Constitution. Previously, the MГ©tis
were not recognized as Aboriginals and were instead called half breeds , so they did
not have the same rights given to them through treaties (such as the Indian Act and
the Numbered Treaties). Even throughout the world, Canada is the only country to
recognize a biracial group, and to give them rights as Aboriginal peoples. Without
Section 35, it was easy for the MГ©tis to be assimilated, and the transfer of
constitutional powers from Britain to Canada threatened their legal identity and
rights established in previous acts. Recognition from the Dominion of Canada
preserved MГ©tis culture, lest it fade away. Section 35 marked the biggest change of
attitude towards Aboriginals, especially MГ©tis, from the government. Furthermore,
it affirmed their collective rights that were given through previous legislation such as
the Manitoba Act. Finally, Section 35 helps to uphold Aboriginal rights in legal cases,
so that the MГ©tis have the power to advocate for their own rights and freedoms.
MГ©tis rights are enshrined and protected through Section
Rhetorical Analysis of Colin Fletcher s The Man Who
Walked...
The story, The Man Who Walked through Time, by Colin Fletcher, is depicting a
situation where he takes over the role of a non existent Indian. Fletcher is trying to
experience things the same way the Indian man used to. Fletcher lets the audience see
this by using rhetorical devices such as word choice, tone, and descriptive examples.
In Fletcher s style of writing he sometimes makes the reader think that he is actually
experiences some of the same things that the Indian experienced.
Fletcher, at first makes the reader believe that he actually lives in the dwelling.
Choosing such sentences as, I climbed back to my pink apartment house, unpacked,
and settled in, (Fletcher 81, 2000), this helps the reader to understand that this is no ...

The cubical showed every sign of having been built for a man just about my size,
(p 81). Again Fletcher is assuming that the cubical was built for a man of his size. I
dwelt in my cliff dwelling for twenty four hours. And, hour by hour conscious of my
vast ignorance, yet curiously confident I began to focus on my cave dweller more
sharply, (p 82). In this sentence Fletcher reassures the reader that the man knows he s
not really experiencing anything with the Indian. We know this because he tells the
audience that he is aware of his own ignorance. By choosing those words, Fletcher
lets the reader know that the man is imagining being with the Indian.
Fletcher has an expository tone. Throughout the essay Fletcher tries to explain to
the audience what it must have been like to live like an Indian. There are very few
factual statements in this writing. Fletcher makes many assumptions and gives his
opinion to try to explain to the reader what it must have been like to live in a cliff
dwelling. By only assuming he does a pretty good job of making the reader believe.
The descriptive examples that Fletcher uses really let s the audience picture it.
Throughout the writing when the man speaks of events, he explains in great detail.
first I pictured him building his home. I saw him chipping patiently away at the roof
of the cave, so that there would be headroom when he sat up in his cubical, (Fletcher

Employee Remuneration
Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
1. MEANING OF WAGE/ COMPENSATION PAYMENT: Wage is a monetary
payment made by the employer to his employee for the work done or services
rendered. It is a monetary compensation for the services rendered [1]. A worker may
be paid Rs. 100 per day or Rs. 4500 per month. This is wage payment. The worker
gives his services and takes payment called wage payment. Industrial workers are
paid remuneration for their services in terms of money called wage payment.
Wages are usually paid in cash at the end of one day, one month or one week. Money
wage is the monetary compensation or price paid by the employer to his employee
for the services rendered. Such compensation is also called wage or salary or reward

This is due to poverty, rising prices, mass unemployment and rising population. Wage
payment indeed a vexatious problem and needs to be tackled from economic, social
and humanistic angles.
1.2 CONCEPT OF FAIR WAGES:
Fair wages is the wage which is above the minimum wage but below the living wage.
Obviously the lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper
limit is set by the ability of the industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair
wages should depend on the factors like 1. Prevailing rates of wages in the same
occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or neighbouring areas 3.
Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5.
Productivity of labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy
Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis.
When fair wages are paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted
fact that wages must be fair and reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able
to meet its essential needs and enjoy reasonable standard of living. Equal pay for
equal work serves as base of fair wage [4].
1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The
organization s ability to pay:
Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them.
Companies that have good sales and therefore high profits tend to pay higher wages
than those which are
The Are The Gods Of The Gym
Competitive lifters are the gods of the gym, they can bench the weight of a large
animal, squat over twice their own bodyweight, and deadlift the Earth if they felt so
inclined. The definition of a stereotype is a widely held oversimplified image of a
particular person or group. Similar to stereotypes, misconceptions are views or
opinions that are incorrect, because they are based on faulty understandings.
Stereotypes stem from commonalities within groups, which often cause others to
categorize them. Misconceptions originate from false information or
misunderstanding, that have been carried out through society. Powerlifters and
olympic weightlifters are assumed to be large, heavy set men, who have arrogant
personalities, and abuse... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Misconceptions are often brought about through media, because of its profound
influence on society. A common misconception made by the media is the belief
that all blondes are dumb. Similar to the glasses claim, there are no studies or
research that support and prove this idea, it is simply a generalization made off of
false facts. Misconceptions are often confused as stereotypes, but they are two
very different generalizations. Unlike stereotypes, misconceptions are formed
from false knowledge and misled understandings. Misconceptions are completely
untrue while stereotypes are based off of the exaggerated truth. Misconceptions
often derive from stereotypes, and are assumptions based off of the already
generalized knowledge of a group. The only reason why misconceptions are often
believed and considered normalities, is because of how commonly they are used.
The media s influence in society is one reason why both misconceptions and
stereotypes stay relevant, because of the media great impact in society, many
members believe all of what the media says is true, even if there are little to no
facts surrounding it. Weight lifters are large burly men whose frame take up an

walking around the gym looking for more weight to pick up, so everyone can
experience their great music taste. The volume on their music is to a max to give

Developing Technology And Integrated Hsr System
China, by far, has the largest existing HSR network, followed by Japan, France, Spain
and Germany. China also has the most ambitious expansion plans, with the most
kilometers of lines currently under construction and the most planned. Spain is also
undergoing an HSR construction and planning boom, with France and Turkey also
notably having ambitious HSR expansion plans.
If it is assumed that expansion proceeds as planned, in the next few decades, China
will have the largest HSR network, with Spain and France in a distant second and
third, both surpassing Japan in total system size. Overall, Japan has the most
developed and integrated HSR system, being the first country to develop the

France has the fastest tested time for a non maglev, steel wheeled train, at 574 km

delegation (1960) visiting France about the 25kV overhead traction system and
played an important role in the first Shinkansen, was closely associated with the
Indian Railways in introducing the Rajdhani Express trains. While IR is still stuck at
the 1964 determined 130 kmph restriction, the Japanese have already migrated to
double the speed already.
China, while being a newcomer to HSR, has very rapidly expanded its HSR system
and has some of the most ambitious plans, by far, of any country for HSR expansion
within the country and across the entire Asian continent. In contrast, the United States
as a whole has only just recently, with the endorsement and backing of President
Obama, begun an effort to develop HSR by allotting funds for the exploration,
planning, and in some cases, building of regional HSR systems.
Having said this, part of the current efforts to develop HSR includes funding projects,
such the one in California, connecting Sacramento to L.A., which have been in the
planning phases for some time

Analysis Of Stanley Kubrick s The And The Post...
Edited part 2
The use of colour to express complexity of mind and to affirmatively counterpoint
brutality also distinguishes the post Strangelove films. As Sergei Eisenstein (an early
theoretical influence on Kubrick) predicted, colour in serious cinema would become
integral to meaning. But unlike some of Eisenstein s ideological descendants,
Kubrick did not consider beauty to be a varnish for social injustice. (rice, pg2)
Stanley Kubrick began making films in the 1950s; his early films were in black and
white since, at the time, color film stock was very expensive and only used on big
budget films with big stars. His first technicolor feature Sparticus (1960) was
extensively storyboarded and was even put through the same rigorous color tests
that Walt Disney used for all his feature films since Kubrick was obsessive about
color. Due to struggles with actor Kirk Douglas, Kubrick refused to work with star
actors which resulted in him not working in color for nearly eight years.
Black and White: The duality of Man.
In the context of Kubrick s films, the relationship between black and white takes
on its own independent significance as an element of colour design. Kubrick uses
black and white as if the were on either end of the spectrum, polar opposites but
made up of the same spectrum. This duality of colour echoes the duality of man in
Full Metal Jacket and 2001 and on a less obvious way his other films.
Kubrick returned to color film stock for his masterpiece
Ancient Greece Compared To Modern Society
The ancient Greeks were a very well established society, and lots of their inventions
and creations are still used today, but some of their equality aspects and a few other
things in society were very biased and unfair. Firstly, the Ancient Greeks had a very
complex and specific law and government system. Due to the large population of
Greece, in 507 BC, the Athenian leader at the time (Cleisthenes) created a system
of democracy, and a social hierarchy. This was a very complex system states that all
people or citizens have the right to have a say in who is their leader, and is still
used today in many parts of the world. Although this sounds equal and fair, only
eligible citizens could vote. Then came the social hierarchy. Gods at the top, then
kings and priests, wealthy merchants, and so on, with women and children, slaves
and servants sitting at the bottom. Only men who were wealthy, owned land, and
were born in a city state were allowed to vote, excluding all women. This is very
different today, where, in Australia, the only voting restrictions are age and
citizenship. Much of the society in ancient Greecewas male dominated and followed
the social hierarchy. This affected who attended assemblies and political meetings,
who was allowed to compete/watch the Olympics and other sports, etc. the
Olympics were avery big part of their ives and it has kept its tradition still today. The
sporting element in ancient Greece was mostly made up of the Olympics and training

Misconceptions Of Policing Essay
Misconceptions of Policing As the day begins, millions of American s perception of
police work is influenced by everyday norms that they face. Whether it being actual
interaction with police, news, movies, TV, protests, social media, observing police,
or conversations with peers, people are knowingly or unknowingly forming an idea
as to what policework is like. The ideas of policing have taken on a drastic change
since the beginning of the 21st century. With the introduction of social media and the
internet, people have been free to express whatever feelings or stories they have
about police whenever they want without any fact checking or any type review by
professionals. Entertainment media has molded policing into action pact dramas

the CSI effect is the notion that people who watch crime shows like CSI feel as
though they have an understanding of forensic investigation and an expectation that
a certain amount of evidence should be presented at a trial just like in the shows.
In his research titled The Impact of Crime Drama Viewership on Perceptions of
Forensics and Science, Amber Ferris studied the relationships between crime drama
viewership and perceptions of forensics and science. Part of his research found a
positive correlation between the numbers of hours spent watching a show and it
effect on people s perception of forensic evidence. Ferris found that the more
participants watched CSI programming, the more likely they were to indicate that
scientific evidence would be presented in theft cases and in every criminal case
(Ferris,2011, p.78) and that hours spent per week viewing CSI: Miami was positively
related to participant s‟ likelihood of expecting forensic evidence in every
criminal case(Ferris,2011, p.76). This notion is one of many misconceptions that
come from TV s take on forensic investigation. In a study of 400 murder cases
across multiple jurisdictions, it was found that only 13.5% of the cases had physical
evidence that linked the crime to the suspect (Turvey,2011, p.147). DNA was found
in only 4.5% of the homicides with latent fingerprints being found 28% of the time

Donald Trump s Foreign Policy Essay
When Donald trump announced his candidacy it was somewhat of a joke to some
of the establish GOP members, but as time went on it became clearer that he is what
the American public wanted. Donald Trump is a man that to the public may seem
like he has no idea what the is doing, but that is not the truth at all. Walter Meade
said that, In both domestic and foreign policy, this century will be profoundly
influenced by the values and concerns of Jacksonian America (Mead 2002, 231).
Donald Trumpembodies those Jacksonian principles almost down to the mark, with a
small percentage of Jeffersonian thrown in. He believes in first and foremost
protecting America and its interests while still protecting the liberties at home, and
that is what has shaped and will shape his foreign policy if and when he becomes
president.
We will examine how Donald Trumps foreign policies align with the Jeffersonian
school of thought first. In Jeffersonianism the core belief is that liberty is infinitely
precious, and almost as infinitely fragile (Mead 2002, 183). This meaning that liberty
is the most important thing to Jeffersonian s. One of Donald Trump s main proposals
is to protect our constitutional liberties (Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. n.d.). He
sees this as an important and vital part of the governments job, like the Jeffersonians
do. Jeffersonians are also skeptical of just about everything, including Washington
insiders, which Donald Trump has taken great pride in not being. It

In April 1985, Donna Dubinsky attended the Leadership Experience seminar. Ms.
Dubinsky thought that Ms. Coleman used this seminar to lobby for her cause. Ms.
Dubinsky began to see her own disillusionment as part of a larger problem where the
executives were confused, demoralized, and critical of the company. She ended the
seminar with the realization that proposed distribution strategy was so radical that it
would shut the company down. So the next day she met with Bill Campbell who was
Roy Weaver s manager and presented him with an ultimatum. Ms. Dubinsky wanted
thirty (30) days to develop her own distribution strategy proposal or she would leave

Situation Analysis
The following situations are analyzed.
Donna Dubinsky versus Proposed Distribution System
Since Donna Dubinsky and Roy Weaver did not address Mr. Jobs questions
regarding the 1985 Distribution Business Plan, he assigned Debi Coleman to develop
a new Distribution Strategy Proposal based on the just in time concept. Ms.
Dubinsky was not proactive in presenting her issues and concerns regarding the just
in time concept. It is assumed that she considered the idea not feasible and that it
would not gain momentum; however, the exact opposite occurred.
Unbeknownst to Donna Dubinsky, around the same time, Roy Weaver s
Ronald Reagan Tear Down This Wall Analysis
In Ronald Reagan s Tear Down this Wall speech, he addresses the European public
and leaders in Berlin. In the speech, he uses both facts and opinions to get his main
point and beliefs across. These beliefs that are the main focus of the speech are that
Western and Eastern Europe need to be united and that democracy is superior to
communism.
Reagan begins the speech by directly addressing his intended audience: the people
of Europe as well as European leaders. He addresses Chancellor Kohl, Governing
Mayor Diepgen, and the people of both Western and Eastern Europe. Reagan even
speaks German to relate with the audience and also to show the audience his
admiration of Germany and Berlin.

Aristotle On Prejudice
In the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga s performance of Eurydice, there are
key elements that set this performance aside from others. Likewise, Aristotle was an
ancient Greek philosopher who carries heavy influence on thought. Therefore,
Aristotle has certain ideas as to what elements drama should try to accomplish. This
specific performance of Eurydice ties in all six of these elements of drama, which
includes plot, theme, character, diction, music, and spectacle. As far as plot goes,
this particular play is fairly rapid in scene changes and, at times, it can be difficult to
follow. However, the audiencecan concisely follow the main plot of this play. The

to make audience connection was a key factor in the performance. Likewise, there
was a particular melody that was mirrored throughout the performance that was
initially sung by Orpheus. This ties back to the characterization of Orpheus through
sound and music. Also, music is an important piece of his life, so much so that he
describes Eurydice s strands of hair as individual instruments. The use of music
throughout the play acts to characterize and establish
Dbq Boston Massacre
On March 5, 1770, five English colonists were killed in Boston, Massachusetts, by
British soldiers. This day will forever be known as the Boston Massacre. It all
started with a British sentry who was stationed in Boston. The sentry faced verbal
harassment from colonists in the town. Eventually, the group grew larger, and the
British sentry called in eight additional soldiers for backup. The large mob of
colonists began to physically attack the colonists with clubs and other weapons,
leading to the British soldiers to fire on the colonists. The colonists were to blame for
the events that occurred on March 5, 1770, because they verbally tormented the
British, threatened them with weapons and largely outnumbered the British soldiers.

a few are able to face the challenging tasks of such a situation using their wits and
persistence. In the book Life Of Pi and the film The Odyssey, the journeys of the
main characters are surprisingly parallel, considering the works were written over 20
centuries apart. Both of their journeys contain stages similar to the archetypal hero
journey, including the Separation/Departure, Initiation and The Return. Although

he must eat meat, as he recounts it for the first time by saying It was a great

with the discovery of using aquatic creatures for meat / food sources. Back to

nothing but horrific trials such as the Cyclops and Lotus eaters. For example after
Odysseus sets sail Poseidon creates a fog causing them to meet a troublesome foe,
by trapping them in the Cyclops s cave. However Odysseus gets the Cyclop drunk
and stabs him in the eye, allowing them to escape. This portrays his cunning bravery
which saves most of his men and himself. One similarity for both character s road of

Methane Gas as an Alternative Source of Energy
The shortage of energy is already one of crucial issues in some areas and it is
spreading steadily across the globe. In addition, the vast majority of the consuming
energy comes from nonrenewable fossil fuels, such as oil, natural gas, and coal,
which threaten the damage of environment that can lead to the global warming.
Therefore, it is required to find new renewable source of energy, which can entirely
ensure sustainable system and provide the population with environmentally friendly,
financially available and productive energy (Turner 1999). The methanegas (CHВЅ)
is the biogas that is abundant in nature; it is also produced anaerobically by recycling
the materials as wood wastes, agricultural crops, municipal solid wastes, and wastes
from food processing and aquatic plants and most effectively by concentrated animal
wastes (Bingemer and et al. 1987). The biogas is widely adopted in many fields, such
as heat and electricity production in industry, chemicals and proteins emitter,
manufacturing the vehicle fuel. In addition, the methane has a significant role in
agriculture; it is indispensable substance that can supply rural areas simultaneously
with heat and electricity (Holm Nielsen and et al. 2009). This paper suggests the
methane gas as an alternative solution and evaluates the most proper area for
opportunely utilizing it.

William Shakespeare s Beowulf Essay
Tuttle 1
Beowulf Unfit to be King of the Geats For 1000 years we have been reading of the
adventures of Beowulf, and his story was told for hundreds of years before. The
tale is full of trials, tribulations, adventure, great loss, great victory, and wonderful
battles. But, what do we make of it? Is it a tale told to illustrate the virtues of the
epic hero himself, or is it a cautionary tale, told to warn the readers of the dangers of
allowing unqualified men (or women) to ascend to a position of leadership and the
inevitable results of such an event?
The author of Beowulf takes great care to describe the hero in detail, and we, as
readers, learn about his abundant courage and strength. We are taken on a tour
through his early struggles, his successes against the great monster Grendel and
Grendel s mother, and his ultimate demise during his battle with a dragon. But one
needs to analyze the unstated theme in order to fully appreciate the effect that
Beowulf has had on readers for generations. Stanley Greenfield, in his article
Beowulf and Epic Tragedy writes that, in the end, For all of Beowulf s efforts, he
is reaped only with useless gold, for a nation soon to perish (104). This is
representative of the core issue at hand in this epic. Beowulf is unfit to be a great
king, despite his physical prowess. Because of his early and continuing history of
foolishly taking unnecessary risks, his excessive pride and lack of humility, the
diminishing quality of his personal

The term Blood is thicker than water really makes sense here. It is a common
misconception and misunderstanding that blood means family and water is
friendship, but it is actually reversed. The blood of the covenant (bonds with other
people) is thicker than the water of the womb (family members). Yes, it took a
village. Since I am only sixteen, there is still tons of growing up to do and plenty
of room for error and mistakes. At least we have a good support system! So in
recent years since I am older, I have made an effort to spend lots of time with my
dad and that side of family since we have been separated by the Atlantic Ocean. At
the end of May this summer, I flew to Germany to see my dad. We spent time
together and after a week, went to Mallorca. In Mallorca you see lots of different
people and cultures come together on an extremely old island that has an amazing
history, since the Vikings and the Moors have lived there among many other
groups. You can see their influence on architecture when you see many old
buildings and churches, which is exactly what we did biking through Palma and
Cala Ratjada. Walking through shopping areas and on Bodega La Rambla in
Palma, you frequently walk past Gypsy beggars. They are usually stationed after
every block or so. I have had a few interesting encounters with Gypsies, beginning in
2010 on a trip to Lanzarote. A New Years Eve party had been organized, and a group

Manipulation In 1984 And Wuthering Heights
Manipulation is a known tool used for many horrid reasons such as taking
advantage of others or releasing the negative emotions out of chaos. A story of a
dystopian world manipulating the citizens and another about a man manipulating a
woman s life, seeking revenge of his scarred heart for many decades because of her
rejection are two stories known to use that tool. 1984 by George Orwell and
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte are different in every way yet the techniques the
authors impose are very similar, highlighting the message of manipulation.
These two novels portray two different scenarios of manipulation using similar
techniques. The narrations of both novels are extremely different from one another.

to control and suppress the people s minds. Winston was marveling at the Party s
success in manipulating the whole town mentioning how in the end the Party would

The readers may see the power the Party holds and the inevitable self resistant the

Tattoo s Effect On Society
Thank goodness for Thomas Alva Edison s patented invention of the Electronic Pen

intended for a document duplication system used by businesses. Edison s invention

Physical Changes Of Aging Research Paper
As we get older we go through physical changes such as our voice, our mobility, our
vision, our hearing, and our balance which are just a few physical changes that
occur. But one change that many of us, especially women, dread about as we age
is our appearance. As we get older our skin loses cells, collagen, fat and the elastin
fibers that make our skin texture smooth and supple, thus creating visible changes
such as wrinkles, crow s feet around the eyes, dark circles, sagging skin, hallowing
of the cheeks, frown lines, and the drooping angle of our mouths. Our appearance,
especially the way our face looks like, is something every woman, young and old,
stresses about. Women, and men too, want to stay and look young forever. In
western culture and around the world beauty is defined by the media and its
various platforms. When we see in the media older celebrities such as Halle Barry,
Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie and various other beautiful
celebrities we are conditioned to think that this is what aging looks like and what
we should be striving for. There is a social pressure that is created because of this. As

Comparison Of Health By Glaeser E And Renewing Cities
In A City of Health, Richardson BW, How were the tenements tamed, Glaeser E and
Renewing Cities, Freestone Robert, all three authors have came to the conclusion of
cities change through time. They pointed out that the prosperity and success of cities
were originated by the wellbeing of citizens and their expertise in how to plan and
design a city, enhancing the standard of civilization and urbanization.
The wellbeing of people has been the main driver to bring changes over time. The
term well being refers to both mental and physical statue of human. It basically means
the health of individuals.
The ideal city of the future will be the beginning of a new era for humanity.
In Richard BW study, he provided statistic of the general mortality in different

Wives Of King Henry VIII
The Wives of King Henry VIII William Penn once said, Kings in this world should
imitate God, their mercy should be above their works. This would clearly be the
best case scenario for a king, but King Henry VIII acted directly opposite to this
quote. Henry was a man hungry for power and willing to hurt whoever stood in his
way, he proved this by his extensive history with women. Henry Tudor, most
commonly known as King Henry VIII, was born on June 28, 1491, to mother,
Elizabeth of York and father, Henry VII. Henry was born in Greenwich, London,
England, at the royal Greenwich Palace. He was the third of six other siblings, but
unfortunately only three of his siblings made it through infancy: Arthur, Margaret
and Mary. Because he was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Henry VII did not want his newly formed alliance with Spain to end, so his
solution was to offer Henry VIII in marriage to Arthur s widow. While both King
Henry VIII and his wife Elizabeth were ecstatic with the idea, Henry VIII and
Catherine were hesitant of the idea of getting married ( Tremlett 59). Oddly
enough, King Henry VII died on April 22, 1509, which left Henry VIII to succeed
him as king. Shortly after his father s death, Henry agreed to marry Catherine, as
he claimed that it was the dying wish of Henry VII that he does so. On June 11,
1509, the two were married in a small wedding held at the friar s church in
Greenwich. Exactly twelve days after the marriage, on June 23, 1509, Henry led
Catherine from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey for their grand
Coronation that would take place the next day. Following the coronation ceremony
everyone gathered at Westminster Hall for an elaborate celebration banquet
(Tremlett 61). One year after being married, on June 31, 1510, Catherine gave birth
to a still born, but conceived again only four months later. New Year s Day 1511
was a day to remember; Catherine gave birth to a baby boy whom they named
Henry after his father. This was an obvious reason for great celebrations, and Henry
hosted a jousting tournament as part of the celebrations. However, seven short weeks
after being born, the child passed away. Three years later
Medical Acronyms
In the English language, acronyms have begun to take on the same role as their
common word counterparts. Although they may initially be created to serve a
purpose to a military or government, they have been adapted to fit into everyday
language. Whether it be medical professionals, avid sports fans, or members of a
certain generation, acronyms greatly contribute to group specific jargon.
In militaries, efficiency is highly valued. To prevent from having to repeat obscenely
long phrases, militaries frequently employ the use of acronyms. Due to this, many
acronyms originate from the military and trickle their way into the common language.
For example, the acronym, ASAP ( as soon as possible ) was first used by military
forces to express urgent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the medical field, many procedures or conditions have acronyms that represent
them. This allows those in the medical community to trim down long medical terms
and associate them with shorter words that are much easier to remember. When used
between those in the healthcare field, these words do not pose a threat to the
transferring of ideas, as both parties understand these words meanings. However, if
one party is an outsider of the medical field, the use of such acronyms could be
detrimental to the communication between the two. Because of this, many doctors
avoid using medical acronyms when conversing with a patient about matters of his or
her health.
Among certain groups with common interests, acronyms have evolved to be used as
jargon. The use of such jargon often provides its users with a sense of belonging
within a social circle. For example, sometimes middle aged people may try to use
initialisms that are popular with the younger generation in an attempt to fit in and
rekindle the flame of their former youth. Interestingly, when such attempts are done
incorrectly, it can often have the opposite effect and alienate the person from said
group. This alienation occurs because the person is perceived to be desperate and
believed to not share common
Analysis Assignment- Stairway to Heaven
ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Through ineffective manipulation of structure, timbre and melody, Victor Lopez s
short version of Stairway to Heaven fails to convey the same mood and effect on the
listener as the original classic piece by Led Zeppelin.
Jimmy Page, lead guitarist of hard rock band Led Zeppelin, and composer of Stairway
to Heaven, once said with reference to the album this piece was released on, My
vocation is more in composition really than anything else building up harmonies

The introduction starts with every instrument playing and an attempted take off of
the chorus, contrasting the idea of one melody growing in Led Zeppelin s version.
The arranged variation begins in E flat major and modulates to D major. There is no
clear melody evident at all throughout the piece, as the number of instruments playing
at similar volumes, makes it hard to determine. Ornamentation is also a key musical
flourish in the original, that lacks in Victor Lopez s version, as there is no guitar and
therefore none of the brilliant guitar techniques mentioned above, to make the music
come alive and become more than just notes on a page.
The timbre or characteristic quality of sound displays a great difference when
comparing the jazz arrangement of Stairway to Heaven to the original. Jimmy Page
manipulates his guitar as the main sound source with such brilliance, using a variety
of methods such as pull offs, vibrato, hammer ons, bends and slides (see Figure 2).
The guitar is the central instrument and is held responsible for the individuality and
vividness of the piece as it holds the majority of the melody, and in particular brings
out the contrast during the bridge and solo (5:35). The entire piece depends on the
guitar as it continues to play throughout the whole song and is accountable for the
most complex part, portraying the creativity and ingeniousness of Stairway to
Themes Of Johnny Tremain
Esther Forbes published Johnny Tremain in 1943, when the United States was in the
middle of World War II, in which the United States and the United Kingdom ,yet
another way to refer to Great Britain, were allies. But that s okay because Forbes
makes it clear that England is not the real enemy but the real enemy is any
government that threatens the liberty of its people or just doesn t stand up for them.
So, in a roundabout way, Johnny Tremainis partly about the importance of workman
s comp laws. Johnny Tremain, the book and the movie, were very different because
of the events and the characters; and similar because of the plot, and timeline.
Johnny Tremain, an orphan is apprenticed to silversmith Emphraim Lapham. When
we meet Johnny, his entire identity is wrapped up in being a fantastic silversmith.
He s career driven since he is only an apprentice, but he s running his master s shop.
Johnny s natural arrogance will always be his downfall, but he slowly learns to
control it, along with his naturally quick temper. From believing that he knows it all,
he comes to realize how much he doesn t know, through his journey through Bostons
Sons of Liberty. He violates the Sabbath laws by working on Sunday, suffers an
injury to his hand by burning it with silver, and that ends his career as an artisan. He
then goes to the home of rich merchant Jonathon Lyte with a silver cup given to him

A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay
Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment
was to observe competition or allelopathy between two different species of
paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other
organisms when developing in nature. This insures the survival of one organism
against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that
enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of surrounding
plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores
from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for
resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout
nature all the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this
experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors
influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many
scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have
more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was
conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and
interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this
particular subject has been limited. Ever since Gause s experiment, not many other
scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the experiment was a way to
observe competition and better interpret the results gathered
Rhetorical Devices In No Name Woman

Living Off Of Minimum Wage
Living off of Minimum Wage in the United States
In Barbara Ehrenreich s documentary novel, Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By
In America (2001), she claimed that it is almost impossible to live off of minimum
wage in the united states. She supports her claim by writing a documentary novel
explaining the details of the life of the American struggles caused by the minimum
wage. Through her book, she supports that minimum wage salary is insufficient
means of survival and leads to a difficult life. After encountering many people who
falsely accuse welfare receivers of being lazy and not work hard enough, she wrote
a book to challenge and change the public s negative opinion towards them and also
about the day when the minimum wage workforce will stand up for themselves and
demand to have a higher wage. Ehrenreich s purpose for writing this novel was to
bring attention to wage workforce by showing the general American public the life of
their fellow citizens who are struggling to survive.
The main, primary theme that Nickel and Dimed focuses on is the hardship and
distress caused by the poverty in the United States. Ehrenreich s main concern
regarding this theme is how it is practically impossible to have basic necessities for
survival with the amount of money earned from a minimum wage salary. She grasps
the reader s attention and proves her claims and arguments by using a unique
technique called investigative journalism, which allows her to get the first hand

The Great Gatsby And The Virgin Suicides
Obsession has been used as a controversial tool in literature for many years. It
provokes strong feelings in people because of the different ways obsession can
take form, whether it be soft and affectionate, or aggressive and violent. Often, the
targets of obsession are females. In The Great Gatsby, The Virgin Suicides, Lolita
and Fear, there are men who obsess over a female character. These female
characters are all shown to be powerless, whether it be at the hands of their
obsessor or because of other factors in their lives. In The Great Gatsby and The

The boys obsession is unrequited, with the narrator noting that while we pretended
we hadn t been looking for them at all, that we didn t know they existed. This is in
contrast with Gatsby, whose love returned by Daisy during the novel. Gatsby s and
the boy s obsessions are both used in order to fill a hole left in their lives: Gatsby
feels incomplete without Daisy, and the Lisbon sisters were taken away from the
boys very abruptly, which left them needing to find out what happened. The men
who show their obsessions in Fear and Lolita do so in a more aggressive manner.
Humbert, who has always had in interest in young girls, is instantly taken with
Dolores, the 12 year old daughter of his landlady It was love at first sight, at last
sight, at ever and ever sight. She is the whole reason for his decision to stay at the
house, as he is initially put off by her mother, the domineering Charlotte. Humbert
takes extreme measures by marrying Charlotte for the sole purpose of staying close
to Dolores. After Charlotte s death, Humbert takes Dolores on the road for an
indefinite road trip. He is so attached to her that he becomes easily panicked when

Internet Usage Of Social Media
OVERVIEW: Internet usage has become a heavily integrated and important
characteristic of current and contemporary society. It would be rare to meet anyone
who has not yet used any aspect of the Internet. In fact, according to the article, Social
Media Update 2016 written by Shannon Greenwood, Andrew Perrin, and Maeve
Duggun of the Pew Research center, 86% of Americans are currently internetusers
(Greenwood et al.) This percentage includes teenagers, emerging adults, and adults.
Below are observations of the different trends in internet usage of these different age
groups.
TEENS: The Pew Research center refers to the age group of teens as those being
between the ages of 12 to 17. Amongst this age bracket, 87% of those (...) now use the

According to Amanda Lenhart from the piece, Teens and Sexting, 4% of cell owning
teens ages 12 17 say they have sent sexually suggestive nude or nearly nude images
of themselves to someone else via text messaging [and] 15% of cell owning teens
ages 12 17 say they have received [them] (Lenhart). In addition to sexting,
cyberbullying has become a major issue online. The article, Cyberbullying 2010:
What the Research Tells Us, 32% of teens have experienced (...) forms of online
harassment (Lenhart). Though there is no way to completely stop the existence of
these problems the application of Education about internet usage, dangers, and
consequences amongst teens will lessen the exposure of both inappropriate contact
and content through online communication.
EMERGING ADULTS: I will be referring to the age bracket of 18 29 as the
emerging adult group. Similarly to the teens, emerging adults of today s society
heavily use and rely on the internet and internet technologies as forms of
communication and entertainment. Andrew Perrin and Maeve Duggen of the
article, Americans Internet Access: 2000 2015, observes that 96% of 18 to 29
year olds use the internet (Perrin at al.) Among the 96% of internet users in the age
group, 90% of them use social networking sites, as reported by the article Social
Media Usage: 2005 2015 (Perrin). A majority of social media networking traffic

Private Key Infrastructure Advantages And Disadvantages
Q1:
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a popular encryption and authentication approach
used by both small businesses and large enterprises for exchanging information based
on, it make securely exchange data over networks such as the Internet and verify the
identity of the other party. The foundation of a PKI is the certificate authority(CA),
which issues digital certificates that authenticate the identity of organizations and
individuals over a public system such as the Internet, and the certificates also used to
sign messages, ensures messages are not been tampered.
There are Components for the PKI or Public Key Infrastructure. Below there are the
components and the explanation of it ..

Its data conversion uses a mathematical algorithm along with a secret key, which
results in the inability to make sense out of a message. Symmetric encrpytion is a two
way algorithm because the mathematical algorithm is reversed when decrypting the
message along with using the same secret key.
Symmetric encryption is also known as private key encryption and secure key
encryption. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SYMMETRIC encryption
ADVANTAGES
пЂЄпЂ A symmetric Encryption is faster.
пЂЄпЂ In Symmetric Encryption, encrypted data can be transferred on the link
even if there is a possibility that the data will be intercepted. Since there is no key
transmiited with the data, the chances of data being decrypted are null.
пЂЄпЂ A symmetric Encryption uses password authentication to prove the receiver s
identity.
пЂЄA system only which possesses the secret key can decrypt a message.
DISADVANTAGES
пЂЄпЂ Symmetric Encryption have a problem of key transportation. The secret key
is to be transmitted to the receiving system before the actual message is to be
transmitted. Every means of electronic communication is insecure as it
Marquis De Lafayette Characteristics
Marquis de Lafayette was one of the biggest figures in American Revolution
history. Lafayette was a volunteer soldier in the American Revolution, he came
with the sole purpose of avenging his father s death against the English in the
French and Indian wars. He soon grew to believe in the patriot s beliefs of freedom
and equality. Lafayette said, Defender of Liberty I idolize, myself more free than
anyone, as coming as a friend to offer my services to this intriguing republic...
(Vowell 16). He also showed great zeal for the cause of liberty (Vowell 1) which later
helped him move up through the ranks to the position of major general. The young
Frenchman s first battle was the Battle of Brandywine, where he fought alongside the
prestigious George Washington. In this battle he was shot in the leg and had to
leave; but he cut short his recovery time so he could continue fighting. Lafayette s
fervor for the war won him the highly desired trust of General George Washington,
which then led him to be one of the most esteemed generals of all time. His
dedication inspired many other French soldiers to join the American cause. He was
both a vocal defender and a great example by his leadership and courage in the
Revolutionary War. His most important battle was the Battle of Yorktown in 1781.
With his royal relations in France, he was able to transfer extra French military
officers and ships to aid the Americans in this momentous battle. Lafayette s skilled
military sense was one

Previously, the MГ©tis were not recognized as Aboriginals and were instead called half breeds , so they did not have the same rights given to them through treaties (such as the Indian Act and the Numbered Treaties). Even throughout the world, Canada is the only country to recognize a biracial group, and to give them rights as Aboriginal peoples. Without Section 35, it was easy for the MГ©tis to be assimilated, and the transfer of constitutional powers from Britain to Canada threatened their legal identity and rights established in previous acts. Recognition from the Dominion of Canada preserved MГ©tis culture, lest it fade away. Section 35 marked the biggest change of attitude towards Aboriginals, especially MГ©tis, from the government. Furthermore, it affirmed their collective rights that were given through previous legislation such as the Manitoba Act. Finally, Section 35 helps to uphold Aboriginal rights in legal cases, so that the MГ©tis have the power to advocate for their own rights and freedoms. MГ©tis rights are enshrined and protected through Section

The story, The Man Who Walked through Time, by Colin Fletcher, is depicting a situation where he takes over the role of a non existent Indian. Fletcher is trying to experience things the same way the Indian man used to. Fletcher lets the audience see this by using rhetorical devices such as word choice, tone, and descriptive examples. In Fletcher s style of writing he sometimes makes the reader think that he is actually experiences some of the same things that the Indian experienced. Fletcher, at first makes the reader believe that he actually lives in the dwelling. Choosing such sentences as, I climbed back to my pink apartment house, unpacked, and settled in, (Fletcher 81, 2000), this helps the reader to understand that this is no ... And, hour by hour conscious of my vast ignorance, yet curiously confident I began to focus on my cave dweller more sharply, (p 82). In this sentence Fletcher reassures the reader that the man knows he s not really experiencing anything with the Indian. We know this because he tells the audience that he is aware of his own ignorance. By choosing those words, Fletcher lets the reader know that the man is imagining being with the Indian. Fletcher has an expository tone. Throughout the essay Fletcher tries to explain to the audience what it must have been like to live like an Indian. There are very few factual statements in this writing. Fletcher makes many assumptions and gives his opinion to try to explain to the reader what it must have been like to live in a cliff dwelling. By only assuming he does a pretty good job of making the reader believe. The descriptive examples that Fletcher uses really let s the audience picture it. Throughout the writing when the man speaks of events, he explains in great detail. first I pictured him building his home. I saw him chipping patiently away at the roof of the cave, so that there would be headroom when he sat up in his cubical, (Fletcher 82).

Ancient Greece Compared To Modern Society The ancient Greeks were a very well established society, and lots of their inventions and creations are still used today, but some of their equality aspects and a few other things in society were very biased and unfair. Firstly, the Ancient Greeks had a very complex and specific law and government system. Due to the large population of Greece, in 507 BC, the Athenian leader at the time (Cleisthenes) created a system of democracy, and a social hierarchy. This was a very complex system states that all people or citizens have the right to have a say in who is their leader, and is still used today in many parts of the world. Although this sounds equal and fair, only eligible citizens could vote. Then came the social hierarchy. Gods at the top, then kings and priests, wealthy merchants, and so on, with women and children, slaves and servants sitting at the bottom. Only men who were wealthy, owned land, and were born in a city state were allowed to vote, excluding all women. Is it a tale told to illustrate the virtues of the epic hero himself, or is it a cautionary tale, told to warn the readers of the dangers of allowing unqualified men (or women) to ascend to a position of leadership and the inevitable results of such an event? The author of Beowulf takes great care to describe the hero in detail, and we, as readers, learn about his abundant courage and strength. This would clearly be the best case scenario for a king, but King Henry VIII acted directly opposite to this quote. Henry was a man hungry for power and willing to hurt whoever stood in his way, he proved this by his extensive history with women. Henry Tudor, most commonly known as King Henry VIII, was born on June 28, 1491, to mother, Elizabeth of York and father, Henry VII. King Henry VII did not want his newly formed alliance with Spain to end, so his solution was to offer Henry VIII in marriage to Arthur s widow. While both King Henry VIII and his wife Elizabeth were ecstatic with the idea, Henry VIII and Catherine were hesitant of the idea of getting married ( Tremlett 59). Oddly enough, King Henry VII died on April 22, 1509, which left Henry VIII to succeed him as king. Shortly after his father s death, Henry agreed to marry Catherine, as he claimed that it was the dying wish of Henry VII that he does so. On June 11, 1509, the two were married in a small wedding held at the friar s church in Greenwich. Exactly twelve days after the marriage, on June 23, 1509, Henry led Catherine from the Tower of London to Westminster Abbey for their grand Coronation that would take place the next day. Following the coronation ceremony everyone gathered at Westminster Hall for an elaborate celebration banquet (Tremlett 61). One year after being married, on June 31, 1510, Catherine gave birth to a still born, but conceived again only four months later. New Year s Day 1511 was a day to remember; Catherine gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Henry after his father. This was an obvious reason for great celebrations, and Henry hosted a jousting tournament as part of the celebrations. However, seven short weeks after being born, the child passed away. Although they may initially be created to serve a purpose to a military or government, they have been adapted to fit into everyday language. Whether it be medical professionals, avid sports fans, or members of a certain generation, acronyms greatly contribute to group specific jargon. In militaries, efficiency is highly valued. To prevent from having to repeat obscenely long phrases, militaries frequently employ the use of acronyms. Due to this, many acronyms originate from the military and trickle their way into the common language. In the medical field, many procedures or conditions have acronyms that represent them. This allows those in the medical community to trim down long medical terms and associate them with shorter words that are much easier to remember. When used between those in the healthcare field, these words do not pose a threat to the transferring of ideas, as both parties understand these words meanings. However, if one party is an outsider of the medical field, the use of such acronyms could be detrimental to the communication between the two. Because of this, many doctors avoid using medical acronyms when conversing with a patient about matters of his or her health. Among certain groups with common interests, acronyms have evolved to be used as jargon. The use of such jargon often provides its users with a sense of belonging within a social circle. The introduction starts with every instrument playing and an attempted take off of the chorus, contrasting the idea of one melody growing in Led Zeppelin s version. The arranged variation begins in E flat major and modulates to D major. There is no clear melody evident at all throughout the piece, as the number of instruments playing at similar volumes, makes it hard to determine. Ornamentation is also a key musical flourish in the original, that lacks in Victor Lopez s version, as there is no guitar and therefore none of the brilliant guitar techniques mentioned above, to make the music come alive and become more than just notes on a page. The timbre or characteristic quality of sound displays a great difference when comparing the jazz arrangement of Stairway to Heaven to the original. Jimmy Page manipulates his guitar as the main sound source with such brilliance, using a variety of methods such as pull offs, vibrato, hammer ons, bends and slides (see Figure 2). The guitar is the central instrument and is held responsible for the individuality and vividness of the piece as it holds the majority of the melody, and in particular brings out the contrast during the bridge and solo (5:35). The entire piece depends on the guitar as it continues to play throughout the whole song and is accountable for the most complex part, portraying the creativity and ingeniousness of Stairway to

A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since Gause s experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the experiment was a way to observe competition and better interpret the results gathered
