Thernstrom s Argument Analysis
Robert D. Putnam et. al. and Abigail Thernstrom et. al. address affirmative action policies at
colleges and universities as a broader social issue than just an individual getting into the university
in their amicus curiae briefs. Thernstrom submitted her amici brief in favor of the petitioner,
Abigail N. Fisher et. al., and Putnam submits his amici brief in favor of the respondents, The
Universityof Texas et. al. The University of Texas chose not to admit Ms. Fisher, who was then a
high school student. Ms. Fisher then sued the University, arguing that the use of race in
applications and admission decisions to and of the University were discriminatory under the 14th
Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. These amici briefs were submitted... Show more content on

His experience in the classroom and his substantial research into both the positives and negatives of
diversity make his clear, concise arguments are incredibly convincing, especially in regards to his
own university classroom.
Thernstrom, on the other hand, appears to be attempting to make a case for self evidence. Her
arguments, such as minority students getting into universities because of upward ratcheting appear
unsubstantiated. Indeed, her claim that many minority students cannot catch up to other students
itself appears unsubstantiated. Further, because of she argues that many. Her omission of Dr.
Putnam s research when it directly contradicted her arguments further diminishes her amicus curiae
brief.
Affirmative action, and race based admissions standards, are the best way to increase (or
maintain) diversity at institutions of higher learning. In spite of its perceived flaws, it has
increased the diversity at previously all white institutions of higher learning, such as the University
of Texas at Austin, and that diversity has allowed friendships to be formed that otherwise would
not have been, has allowed students to learn from professors they otherwise would never have and
allowed professors to learn from students from a wide variety of

Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy
Introduction
There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an
experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer
their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued
experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction
stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic
and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every
place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic.
According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company
intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a
way that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to
create a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies
providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the
service profit chain.
In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand
how to maintain employees and customers satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the
owner. First of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service profit chain, for
example, customer

Escher s Art Analysis
Continuing with my self promotion pieces to get PalbergWERX Design + Photography noticed in
this over stimulated communications age, I began work on my second famous artistic image in
history. You can read Part 1 in this series HERE.
[Click and drag to move]
This time I choose M.C. Escher s work Humanity . Again, there have been numerous imitations and
this ribbon type illustration is well known to the general public.
This is a much more challenging project as the illustration is very precise in how it is able to
convey the front features of both characters as well as make a believable ribbon that shows both
the volume and shape of both heads.
As I mentioned, it was important that the work was now in the creative commons, even if I was
not going to use the original work in my promo piece itself. Below is the image that I achieved in
my first try at this. In hindsight, I had a few issues that I didn t fix, but will highlight during this
article.
[Click and drag to move]
The first step is finding a suitable photo in my case, I wanted two images of myself but, not
mirrored and somewhat posed like the original Escher heads.
In my case, because I don t have long flowing hair haha it was easy to mask out my head from the
background. This isn t strictly necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began working the text in InDesign, just to find the right font combination as well as a rough
layout. I soon realized that writing the text all on a single line would be much too long for the
image and the result is that the text would be too small in proportion to the heads, it just wouldn t
look right. When I placed the Palberg above the WERX I knew I was then going in the right
direction. For the most in control I created a unique layer for each letter and then just moved them
around until the composition looked right. Next it was time to customize the

No On Traveling To Mars
Since the beginning of time, people have been curious, and are always trying to explore. But
now it is 2017, and we have to understand what we should do and what we shouldn t do. People
today have a good idea about the hazards of space travel and know the consequences space travel
can have for people. And after considering Andy Weir s statement regarding travel to Mars, I am
of the opinion that we as a nation should not fund a manned mission to Mars in the near future
because it will be very expensive, we have a larger need to explore places here on Earth, and it
purposes a large danger to the people traveling in space.
First, trying to fund a manned mission to Mars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Incoming Junior Year
Junior year has taught me a lot on how to become a better student and better friend. To all the
incoming juniors, my advice to them would be stay focused. Junior year brings a lot of changes
in many students lives. It will test your strengths and weaknesses but it will reveal the type of
individual you are. One idea that I was able to understand better was that it s important to know
what your goals are. Having a goal will not only keep you focused in accomplishing said goal but it
will also be the thing that keeps you moving forward despite the obstacles, that as an incoming
junior, one will encounter throughout the year. Your goals do not have to be specific it can be

Othello s Jealousy
Shakespeare uses themes in many of his works such as love, betrayal and others. Many of these
themes are present in the play Othello, another one of Shakespeare s works. Most obvious in the
play Othello, is jealousy. Jealousy controls the characters in Othello from the beginning of the play
to the end Some characters jealousy is caused by other characters, like Iago. He creates lies which
cause other characters to act differently. He is jealous of Cassio and angry with Othellobecause he
was not chosen as lieutenant of Cyprus, and Cassio was. Iago wants everyone to feel as bad as he
does so he forces jealousy into other characters. Iago wants everyone to become jealous, so he

Haim Omer and Marcello Da Verona writers of the article Doctor Iago s treatment of Othello gives
an example of Iago s manipulation and trickery when Brabantio is confronted by them about his
daughter. Brabantio ignores what they say about Desdemona, because he does not want to believe
his own daughter would to anything to disobey him, and he becomes angry because he has been
woken up in the middle of the night. Iago responds by complimenting Brabantio. Brabantio yells,
Thou art a villain Iago responds, You are a senator (I. i. 115 116). Brabantio is taken back by this

Iago about Cassio being with Desdemona when they are seen together in private. Was that not

Safety, Wellness And Health Of Emergency Medicine Service
Safety and Wellness in the EMS System
Introduction
The wellness and health of emergency medicine service (EMS) workforces extends beyond just
avoiding infections to include physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing. EMS
workers usually encounter stressful events when performing their duties. There is no doubt that
stress has a detrimental physiological impact on the human body; therefore, it is imperative for
EMS workers to have stress management mechanisms, and be informed of the crisis intervention
methods in order to cub illness related to stress (Brennan Krohmer, 2008). EMS workers have
several responsibilities; however, personal safety is the most crucial. Awareness of the scene

In fact, lack of illness is often ranked the lowest among the various factors contributing to wellness
(Spratlin, 2011). The benefits of wellness for EMS workers have been well documented in literature
including having inner peace, an implied sense of individual purpose, and being physically adept in
undertaking greater achievements. Physical health has been considered the most noticeable indicator
of wellness. In a state of physical health, the human body can resist injury and illness, and function
in an optimal manner characterized by improved cardiovascular capacity, respiratory reserve, and
optimal blood pressure and heart rate. In addition, physical health is characterized by a reduction
in the risk factors associated with a number of the major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and
heart diseases among others. Physical wellness can be achieved through a number of ways
(Spratlin, 2011). The first method involves proper diet, which has been a considered a crucial
aspect of physical health. A proper diet should have all the needed in the right amounts. According
to Spratlin (2011), optimal body functionality can be achieved through the intake of a proper diet
having essential minerals and vitamins, proteins and fats to help in maintaining the body, and
carbohydrates to provide energy. An important consideration with respect to dietary intake is the
type of food intake, and the need to moderate the

upon Le Romaunt de la Rose of Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meung. According to critics,
not the entire poem, but the first part of it may be written by Chaucer. In this dream poem the

and the purity that has been taken away, which briefly conclude the tragedy that happened to
Clarissa. In addition, A crowned Serpent, with its tail in its mouth, forming a ring, the emblem
of Eternity (646) is also etched on the coffin. Since a circle has no beginning or an end, this
shape represents a philosophical idea of eternity. The way the snake bites its own tails reveals a
concept of self consumption (82), as Maud Ellmann explains in The Hunger Artists (1993), the
snake could stand for circulation, self starvation, or imprisonment, all of which contribute to
Clarissa s tragedy (82). The root cause of Clarissa s tragic life is her inability in obtaining autonomy
of her life. The society Clarissa lives in objectifies women to trade for material goods and force
them to develop to fulfill their greed. In The Rape of Clarissa (1982), Terry Eagleton claims that in

Kitty Kallen s Argument Essay
Go often to the house of a friend, for weeds soon choke up the unused path is a Swedish proverb.
This proverb means that one should make an effort to check up on their friends and always try.
All people know they must talk to their friends to keep them. Or, try and help out to keep
something working. Not much is known about the origin of this proverb even though it is
popular. It is important to live by go often to the house of a friend; for weeds soon choke up the

The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Shayne McCormick

The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Teachers bear the heavy responsibility of molding the minds of our nation s most precious
resource, its children. The road to becoming a teacher is a long one, involving post high school
education, people skills, and a desire to change lives. These traits, when accompanied by experience
and good techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Before anything
else, teachers must have a desire to impact the lives of their students (Education). Some teachers
teach because they want to help children learn and grow and would like to make a contribution to
society. Others have an intellectual fascination with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers must be ready to deal with an array of students with different needs. Their day usually
begins around 8 a.m. where they face the difficult task of waking up their tired students and getting
them ready to learn. They must find interesting ways of presenting the subjects that students often
find tedious (Princeton). Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help
students understand the material (School Teachers).
A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved
in after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and
projects, and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik).
There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed
and refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own
groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact
with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers).
Even with the experience of the teacher training programs mentioned earlier, nothing can fully
prepare a person to become a teacher. According to Dr. Bob Kizlik, Each of the roles [a teacher
plays] requires practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher preparation programs. Not all
who want to be teachers should

Roger Waters Research Paper
Roger Waters is, in my opinion, the greatest English songwriter and musical artist of all time. If
you don t know who Waters is, he is the main lyricist and singer of the popular psychedelic rock
band Pink Floyd. The meanings in the poem like lyrics impact, or impacted, the lives of many
people including myself. The flow and general feel of the music seems to relax the brain, at least
from my experience. The hidden stories to his music is incredible as well as the phrasing and
use of his language, although there are some bad things about his music. The moving stories
hidden within the lyrics of his music, and songs of his albums are a great part of the Waters
experience. In the play like album The Wall (1979) it slowly explains the life of an

and his eventual wall casting him from society and normal life. The album shows personal
isolation, neglect, and use of drugs throughout the ninety minutes it takes to listen to it. The most

Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants,

Most deep groundwater does not need screening before other purification steps. 3. Storage Water
from rivers may also be stored in bankside reservoirs for periods between a few days and many
months to allow natural biological purification to take place. This is especially important if
treatment is by slow sand filters. Storage reservoirs also provide a buffer against short periods of
drought or to allow water supply to be maintained during transitory pollutionincidents in the source
river. 4. Pre chlorination In many plants the incoming water was chlorinated to minimize the growth
of fouling organisms on the pipe work and tanks. Because of the potential adverse quality effects
(see chlorine below), this has largely been discontinued.[3]
Widely varied techniques are available to remove the fine solids, micro organisms and some
dissolved inorganic and organic materials. The choice of method will depend on the quality of the
water being treated, the cost of the treatment process and the quality standards expected of the
processed water.

Pure water has a pH close to 7 (neither alkaline nor acidic). Sea water can have pH values that
range from 7.5 to 8.4 (moderately alkaline). Fresh water can have widely ranging pH values
depending on the geology of the drainage basin or aquifer and the influence of contaminant inputs
(acid rain). If the water is acidic (lower than 7), lime, soda ash, or sodium hydroxide can be added
to raise the pH during

18th Amendment Pros And Cons
3rd Housing soldiers was a common practice militaries used for shelter. It was a form of home
invasion by the government, and prohibiting this gave citizens more sense of security to their
property, and not involving them in the war which they aren t fighting. Although, the only time
that soldiers need housing is when we mobilize soldiers, otherwise they should be at bases. As
much as this was relevant in the 1800 s, we haven t had a need to use civilian s homes for
military purposes. There isn t much to say about this amendment anymore. 18th I know lots of
other students see this amendment flawed simply because you can t ban alcohol, then maybe
even lead that into some fabricated argument about marijuana because this is Arapahoe.
Prohibition isn t some type of morality issue to me, nor supporting it as a device to make you
righteous. That being said, I find the presents of alcohol and other feel good drugs in our first
world useless. I repeatedly see articles saying how the 18th amendment has done more harm
than good, but the level of damages caused by alcohol s influence unprsidenly sets that harm to
shame and the ideology of the amendment is the only good. I can go on and on about how
pathetic I find people who abuse and rely on its effects, but I will spare you the bantering of my
thinks he s always right teenager opinion. I dislike this amendment not because I disagreed with it,
but because it failed and will forever be an argument against any future law regarding the usage of
alcohol and other recreational drugs. 21st... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

For every problem caused by urbanisation there is an...
Rapid urbanisation has caused a variety of problems, including transport congestion, lack of
sufficient homes and living conditions, sanitary and health care issues, and crime. For all these
problems, city planners have attempted potential solutions, each with varying degrees of success.
Cities including London, Manila and Mumbai have several of the aforementioned problems, and
have each tried their own potential solutions. This essay will discuss how successful these schemes
have been in resolving these issues.
As a result of an increased population inhabiting one area, traffic congestion is often a major issue
resulting from urbanisation. In London, traffic is evidently a problem. As it would be expected

In terms of health, an example of an attempt in Mumbai is the Slum Sanitation Program, started in
1995 by an NGO, who built 330 new communal toilet blocks in the slums; due to health also being
detrimentally affected by exhaust emissions from traffic, dirty water, cramped living spaces
(increasing the spread of disease) and general cleanliness of homes, this has had little impact. Over
all, it is evident that these attempts have not been greatly successful, potentially due to the lack of
money preventing any major plans like complete rejuvenation which would solve the problems.
As cities grow, problems grow with them. Solving these problems has been attempted in various
ways by various people, and have each have had different levels of success. In MEDC London, the
issue of congestion was attacked in a much more structured way, and therefore did make some
impact, although for the moment, minimal. In LEDCs Mumbai and Manila, Governments have
struggled to rectify their problems due to their lack of money, as the scale of their modifications is
too great due to such rapid urbanisation. In conclusion, I agree that more often than not there is an
effective solution for problems caused by urbanisation, but in many cases they are just too big and

Spanish Cuisine
Spanish Cuisine
The earliest settlers of Spain include the Iberians, the Celts, and the Basques groups. Then the
Phoenicians came, who were later followed by the Greeks, who ruled Spain until they were
defeated by the Romans. The last of the settlers to arrive were armies of Arabs and Berbers, whom
were called Moors. Fascinated with water, they developed irrigation systems and planted citrus and
almond trees in eastern and southern Spain.
The Phoenicians arrived from the Mediterranean and brought their sauces to Spain. The Greeks
gave the Spanish cuisine olives and olive oil though. Other cultures that have contributed to the
Spanish cuisine are the Jews and the Carthaginians. At one point in time, Christians, Jews and

Themes Of Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream takes us down the dark paths of four people who, in desperate attempts to
find happiness and fulfilment, become sucked into a world of drug addiction. The 2000 film by
Darren Aronofsky is based upon Hubert Selby Jr. s 1978 novel of the same name. Sara Goldfarb
(Ellen Burstyn) is a retired widow who lives by herself in a tiny apartment. She is very lonely
and spends copious amounts of time watching television; she is especially enamored with a self
help show. After a phone call leads her to believe her dreams of appearing on the show as a guest
might come true, she attempts to lose weight. She starts taking diet pills and soon finds herself
hooked, causing her mental state to deteriorate rapidly. Her son, Harry (Jared Leto), is a junkie
who, along with his friend, Tyrone (Marlon Wayans), thinks that his big break in life will be
when he becomes a big time drug dealer. He has no qualms about using his mother s beloved
television set as collateral for drug deals. Harry s girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) is a
talented clothing designer who could have a future, but she can t resist the drugs, and she finds
herself sucked into down along with Harry. The film, which is set in Brooklyn s Brighton
Beach, holds close to the theme of the novel: the real drug we re all hooked on is the American

The Use Of Symbolism In Dandelion Wine By Ray Bradbury
I am Doug Spaulding. Ray Bradbury may have chosen Doug to be the twelve year old
protagonist in Dandelion Wine, but I am convinced that Bradbury took a pencil and paper to my
childhood. Part of the reason why Doug s character resonates with me so much stems from
Bradbury s use of symbolic language. Because symbolism leaves the audience to interpret the text
s meaning, every reader draws a different interpretation of the text based on his or her own
personal experiences. By picturing the experience associated with Bradbury s imagery, the reader
gains a deeper understanding of the story. Bradbury effectively utilizes symbolism in Dandelion
Wineto aid the audience in perceiving the text s significance and to impart the messages that
form the novel s overall theme. Bradbury reveals Doug s youthful nature in the form of animals,
allowing the reader to visually imagine Doug s mental and physical characteristics. After Doug
becomes aware of his existence, Bradbury writes, Douglas, eyes shut, saw spotted leopards pad
in the dark (10). When Doug opens his eyes, Bradbury states, The leopards trotted soundlessly off
through darker lands where eyeballs could not turn to follow (10). From a twelve year old s
perspective, leopards seem like the fastest and scariest animals in the world. The reader envisions
the leopards and gathers that Doug s realization of his existence struck him unexpectedly, leading
him to be justifiably frightened. When Doug opens his eyes, the leopards

Mexican People Living In Texas In The 1930 s
Mexican people living in Texas, which until 1830 was part of Mexico, had a peaceful life. As
any other city, the society was divided into rich and poor classes. Spanish descendants were the
rich and mixed blood people were the poor. Even with these marked social distinctions, the
Mexicans had no major problem with each other. BY 1920, the Mexican government in its effort to
increase the economy, invited Americans to move to the vast expanse of land. Taking advantage of
the rich soil in Texas, in a while, there was more Anglos than Tejanos living in this part of Mexico.

The revolution in 1836, introduced new ways of doing things, a new language, and a new

extreme that many Texans decided to flee with their families to other states in Mexico. Then,
Squatter occupied the land left behind, invading Texas and the Anglos increasingly invaded the

Another conflict point was that Mexican Tejanos were always against slavery, but for the
Americans, slavery was an essential part of their economy. Tejanos frequently help slaves to scape

Mexican peons from entering the country and forbidding Mexicans to associate with blacks (p.

The Cation Exchange Gel Samples
The cation exchange gel samples are labelled IEX 19 22 as these were the tubes with the highest
activity as shown in the above table. The other IEX fractions had significantly lower specific
activities so were less likely to contain the protein of interest and more likely to contain unwanted
proteins than the higher specific activity fractions. Only the higher specific activity fractions were
chosen for this reason. All the fractions that were analysed by gel electrophoresishave the same
banding patterns which means that they can be combined to get a combined total for the yield
calculations. This has then been used to calculate the amount that there would have been if the
entire solution was used for this process. However, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen in the gel electrophoresis where there is a greater number of bands for dye 9 11 than
there is for the IEX tubes. The fold purification was expected to be between 3 7 fold as found on
the BRENDA web page (2017), for this experiment a 1.4 fold (492404/349710) increase in activity
was seen after dye ligand chromatography. The retrospective yield was like cation exchange
which also gave an impossible result considering the after dialysis yield. It is difficult to say
which yield is more accurate. The after dialysis yield measured may be lower than its true value or
the error created by averaging the different tubes and treating them as if the entire sample has
overestimated the amount of LDH present. Although there are more bands on the gel there is a
lower retrospective total protein for dye ligand than there is for cation exchange 43.2 mg and 55.9
mg respectively. This could indicate that although there is a greater number of bands the ratio of
LDH to unwanted proteins may be higher. This technique has gotten rid of the band that was
present in cation exchange but has different bands present which shows that the two purification
techniques are targeting LDH in different ways.
Affinity chromatography relies on the protein ability to bind to specific molecules tightly but not
covalently. This technique uses a ligand bound to the matrix that is capable of specifically binding
to the protein. When the impure solution is passed through the

Themes In Imagining Argentina
Imagining Argentina is a novel written by Lawrence Thornton, which is set in the era of the late
1970s of Argentina, during the dirty war. The dirty war came into effect when a military junta had
taken power by force, shortly after the former president was removed. The main cause of the dirty
war was to suppress the people of Argentinawho are on the side of left wing politically. Anyone
suspected or even related to the side of left wing would have a green falcon visit their home or
wherever they are, and will be kidnapped and tortured, becoming known to the people as the
disappeared . Although thousands of Argentinians have disappeared through the years of the dirty
war, their identity has not disappeared, through the power a name holds. Carlos Rueda, the
protagonist, believes names to be much more than just a name. A name holds a person s
uniqueness; their personality; their identity; and their story. Carlos is gifted with an imagination,
which can predict the fate of the disappeared through the power these names hold. Although
identity is a key theme, the overall message revolves around imagination. Throughout Imagining
Argentina the use of imagination is always present. Thornton provides a powerful message which is
imagination being our strongest tool; our reality. Imagination helps us through times of desperation
and despair. The human mind is stronger than any physical force. Our power to imagine helps us
stay strong, it helps us identify as humans. Imagination

Gun Weapons Of The United States
There is an estimated 300 million registered gun owners in the United States. With that many
Americans owning guns, its not a surprise nearly 68% of all homicides reported to the FBI
involved firearms. It s a good thing the forensics of firearms has advanced to a point that with just
a single round recovered, ballistic experts can tell investigators, what caliber round was fired what
type of weapon fired the round, and in some cases the distance at which the round was fired.
Without such advancement, more murderers would be walking free.
When arriving to a crime scene where weapons are present, safety is always top priority. Treat
every firearm as if it is loaded. When deciding to unload a weapon you always want to do so with
the utmost care, to preserve all types of evidence. This evidence includes fingerprints, blood,
hair or fibers, cylinder halos and debris in the barrel and /or cylinder.(www.crime scene

Kluckhohn and Strodbeck’s Value Model
Abstract: Culture is the holistic interrelationship of a group s identity, beliefs, values, activities,
rules, customs, communication patterns, and institutions. (Dodd, 1998) Values are important
components of a given culture accepted by individuals sharing that culture. They are deep and
hidden elements of the cultural iceberg that are seldom questioned or defended but can reflect
different characteristics of different cultures. Kluckhohn and Strodbeck s valuemodel is used here to
analyze distinct Chinese and American culture. Key words:culture; values; Kluckhohn and

In the Bible story of Adam and Eve, God throws them out of the Garden of Eden because they ate
the fruit from the Tree of knowledge. But with modernism came a sense that progress improves
the world and the people in it, and actually already with Puritanism came the work ethic which in
a sense suggested that if a person works hard he can overcome his sinful nature as stated in busy
hands make for good morals and idle hands are the devil s opportunity . Democratic and
educational ideals also work toward the improvement of mankind. (Kulich, personal email to the

that the traditional belief continues to flourish, for example among fundamentalist Christians who
follow the Bible in their daily life. Influenced by the teachings of Confucius, The Chinese people

begins when people grow and are affected by society. In order to prevent the corruption, parents,
teachers and other related persons are obligated to set up good examples for their protГ©gГ©s and

Epistemological And Psychological Views Of Divorce
Epistemological and Psychological Views of Divorce This paper looks at divorce from different
perspectives of thought. By using personal experience, critical thinking and Christian integration
I am able to evaluate the implications of divorce. Marriage is a vow intended to be kept, and when
a couple decides to separate it detaches from God s perfect will for their lives. From a sociological
standpoint divorcecan effect kids, government policies and communities. Divorce does not only
effect the couple but people outside of it. The rate of separation is so prevalent that society accepts
this as a social norm. The goal of my paper is to prove that divorcing is not beneficial for long term
happiness or mental health. Identifying the solutions through a struggling marriageby
epistemological thought and psychology will ultimately decline the rate of divorce. The concept of
divorce can be understood through reason, empirical investigation and revelation. By reason, one
can assume that divorce will not lead to happiness but to loneliness and uncertainty. This paper will
further explore empirical investigation which has assessed that divorce will not guarantee true
satisfaction or contentment. Through the testimonies of many, their experience has led to a
revelation of truth in their lives, and the true meaning of marriage.

Executive Branch Of Government Power
For years, America has been considered a country of freedom and liberty. The founding fathers
intended this country to be established under good intentions. As stated in the Preamble of the U.S.
Constitution, We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union... Many
Americans may stumble upon the question, Are we a more perfect Union? .
I believe that the general structure of a country plays a significant role in the overall adequacy. The
United States Government runs under a system called checks and balances. This is the coordination
between the three branches of government executive, legislative, and judicial. So far, it has proved
to be an efficient way to organize and regulate each position.
Separation of power allows each branch of government to do its role while rectifying and
improving each other branch in the process. This is in order that each branch has equal power and
there is no branch with more or less power than another. The executive branch consists of the
President and various departments and agencies. This branch is responsible for enforcing laws. The
legislative branch is made up of the House and Senate. Among other things, the legislative branch
makes laws, declares war, regulates interstate and foreign commerce and controls taxing and
spending policies. The Judicial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Types Of Contingencies, Designing A Contingency, And Owner...
According to Gunhan and Arditi (2007), there were three types of contingencies, namely designer s
contingency, contractor s contingency, and owner s contingency. They claimed that the best
method to predict contingency was to use previous experiences. They mentioned that a detailed
study of four factors, namely site conditions, schedule constraints, project scope, and
constructability issues could play an important role either in preventing the CO or reducing the
chances of needing a big contingency money. Smith et al. (1999) stated that the wise decision on
the amount of contingency used while bidding could have effects on whether wining of the
contract. They interviewed 12 contractors on the contingency calculation method and found that
among these contractors, nobody was aware of any kind of estimation method for the contingency
amount. Whenever, these contractors used contingency, they simply followed the traditional
approach of adding some percentages to the base cost as contingencies. Mac and Picken (2000)
conducted a study on two types of projects, namely estimating using risk analysis (ERA) and non
ERA projects. They made comparison between 45 ERA projects with 287 non ERA projects and
found that ERA method helped to reduce the unnecessary risk allowances in projects. According to

Probate Law
To many people, the word estate conjures up visions of large houses on acres of land, filled with
valuable antiques and family heirlooms. However, the legal definition is a bit more broad than that,
and actually includes almost everything you own. The probate law attorneys at Ethredge Copeland
P.A., serving northern Arkansas, explain that understanding what constitutes your estate is key to
establishing a plan that will save your beneficiaries time, money, and frustration.
According to probate law, most of your assets will have to be processed by the court before your
descendants can inherit them. This includes anything with a title or deed that will have to be
legally transferred into the beneficiaries name, like real estate or automobiles. Other items, such as
personal possessions, valuables, and even those that only have emotional value for your family
members, are also considered part of your estate and must be distributed by the executor of the will.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Charleston Hope
Rhetorical Analysis
In the view of Lloyd Blitzer, he explains what makes situations rhetorical that is identical to a
moral act . His definition of a moral act is when you act or preform by any situation. He shows
examples of different types of rhetorical analysis that happened in the past. Blitzer states that a
rhetorical analysis is a change in reality. Therefore, he is saying that it is an action or new
information that is to be addressed or known. He states that rhetorical analysis should be followed
by a rhetorical method. Blitzer mentioned that there are three main components when writing a
rhetorical analysis. One component to look for is referred to as exigence. Exigence is the reason
you are proving something. Audience is the part of a rhetorical analysis that involves people that
you are trying to get to understand your situation. Lloyd stated that everyone is being capable by
the change of speech. From my perspective, Blitzer s rhetorical audience consists only of people
who are more likely influenced by discourse and have the possibility of becoming mediators of
change. The final component is constraint. Constraint deals with limitation and restrictions in a
rhetorical analysis. Charleston Hope provides a great opportunity to become involved and assist with
its mission throughout the community.

Social Action At The Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Case study 3: Social action at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum
Ruth J. Abram, who wanted to create a museum centered upon an experience common to the
majority of Americans, founded the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Abram believed that the
immigrant experience was something that diverse groups of people could relate to and unite
together on, moving Americans to participate in a national conversation with similarly situated,
contemporary immigrants and other outsiders (Abram 2005:21). As we can see, Abram has been
dedicated from the start to civic engagement through community collaboration.
Abram continually ensures that the museum has the resources and insight needed for community
engagement. This is done in several ways. For instance, Abram and the Board of Trustees are
committed to ensuring that there is funding for not only the various programs the museum engage
in, but also for the staff s needs. They are committed to having a diverse and inclusive team,
comprised of individuals from multiple backgrounds. Furthermore, they have 32 full time staff
positions and 30 part time docents (Abram 2005). It is this kind of commitment that has contributed
to successful and sustainable community collaboration. Staff members often speak more than one
language and have experienced many of the same issues that past and present immigrants have
faced such as welfare (Abram 2005). This brings in diverse experiences and stories into the
museum space.
As Abram has pointed out The

particularly true of the lower peninsular regions, different kinds of tanks served multiple purposes
aesthetic, spiritual and practical. There were two main kinds of tanks: village ponds used as

that is becoming very scarce.
Step 3: Research

This campaign will start in July of 2017 and will go throughout August of 2020. This project will
be based out of southern Ontario. The project will try to make water extraction legal from main
lakes and big bodies of water such as the Great lakes etc.... But illegal or minimized from smaller
lakes. 360,000 litres of water each day is taken from the Innisfil Watershed in Lake simcoe and it
is unacceptable. (Lake Simcoe Message Board, 2016) The City of Innisfil Town management
/planners are making plans to bring it down to 260,000 liters a day due to high petition rate in
the town, still the number is to high. Water levels are getting to low for animal safety, the space
for natural habitats and living creatures is decreasing with our water levels. Something needs to
be done and The water saving economist group will do everything they can to help the cause. The
bill we are proposing will make water extraction legal from all bodies of water in Canada with an
area of 500 kmВІ, an up to 1,000,000 litres of water taken from each body of water maximum. All
other water under 500 kmВІ may only be extracted up to 100,000 litres of water a day. These are
fair rates to make wildlife and citizens happy as well as the government of Canada s
environmental protection group . The water saving economist group will then take our bill with
all of the petition signatures to the Minister of the environment, from there he will discuss the
ideas at cabinet meetings where they will decide if it is a good idea. Next the first and second
reading will happen where MP s will think about our bill and discuss more. Hopefully next the
committee discussion and third reading will go well and gets minimal or no suggested changes
to it. Then the bill will be sent to the senate where it will be given 3 more readings, finally The

Chinese Immigrants To Canada
During the early 20th century, Asian immigrants who came to Canada faced a great deal of
backlash from Canadian society. Among these men and women who came overseas, the Chinese
suffered the brunt of the racial discrimination that ran rampant in Canada, and were treated
distinguishably worse than any other group of immigrants. Although many other immigrants were
met with prejudice and racial stereotyping on arrival, there was no other group that experienced the
same level of organized racism as Chinese immigrants did. Discriminatory acts were not only
conducted on a communal and societal level, but also found its way into Canadian politics. What
resulted from this was a national effort to limit the Chinese from both entering Canadaas well...

Chinese immigrants were not only denounced for their negative impact on Canada s economy, but
as a greater threat towards Canada s culture. As such, many community leaders, labour organization
leaders and even government officials called for exclusionary measures against Chinese
immigrants, ranging from stripping them of their ability to organize to implementing harsh
limitations on immigration and business conduct. It was assumed by labour leaders that Asian
workers were impossible to organize, and therefore felt they had no choice but to demand
exclusionary policies, regardless of the Asian involvement in labour militancy which closely
aligned with the goals of Canadian labour unions (Goutor, 2007, 554). At the time, many other
policies were also enacted to severely limit the already scarce amount of freedom that Chinese
immigrants had, one of which was the Act to Prevent the Employment of Female Labour in
Certain Capacities which was a statute that made it a criminal offense for Chinese men to employ
white women (Backhouse, 1996, 315). The act was put into motion by the propaganda fed fear of
Chinese men, who were regularly portrayed as sexual predators [that] sought to take advantage of
white women (Goutor, 2007, 556). The Chinese Immigration Act came into effect in 1923,

Machiavelli And Love
Friedrich Nietzsche s The Gay Science uses definitions and descriptions to compare love and
greed and ultimately argue that love is often merely another name for greed. He contrasts love as
having a positive connotation, whereas greed holds a negative one. But upon defining each and
showing examples of love, he calls into question if the love of neighbors and love of truth and
knowledge are not just another craving for possession. This desire for what is new is compared
using the description of one s desire to travel to more beautiful places after living somewhere new
for even just three months. Nietzsche suggests that such an unsatisfied spirit is one of greed
because the person constantly wants to possess what he or she does not already... Show more

This is different from Nietzsche s approach because he does not employ definitions and
descriptions as much, but rather compares the degrees of severity in the effects of both love and
fear. Machiavelli begins by noting that love is held by the tie of obligation and thus one may
break that bond if he or she faces difficulty or has a personal interest. This is then compared with
fear which is bound by the apprehension of punishment and is, therefore, a reliable relationship.
Machiavelli compares these two examples of cause and effect to emphasize that in the context of
an army, it is better to be feared than loved. His use of rhetoric here makes the reader consider the
outcome of different war scenarios if the leader is not feared. He proposes that an army that
loves its commander may fall apart due to the frail and fickle nature of man when in the heat of
battle. This is then compared to a commander who has instilled a healthy fear in his army and, as a
result, has remained victorious and united in the face of war. By using these techniques, he
effectively argues that the impacts of being feared are far better than those of being loved. This
method of comparison is different from Nietzsche s because Machiavelli assumes the definitions of
his terms and goes right ahead to showing causes and effects of love and fear. Nietzsche

O. Anderson, E. C., Schreiner, L. A (2002). Strengths Quest. New York, NY: Gallup There are
several ways that organizations can utilize the strengths of there employees. First, an assessment
test must be given to find out the strengths of each employee. After the employees strengths are
revealed, the organization should try to match each employee to a job that best fit each
employee s strength. Organizations should also pay attention to how well employee work doing
different task. Knowing how well an employee works under pressure, their strengths, their
weaknesses, or how well they work with others could definitely be beneficial to the organization.
Knowing that all employees in an organization deserves to be treated fairly, and tend to put forth
a better effort after recognition of their outstanding work, organizations should do more to make
employees feel that their hard work is appreciated (Clifton, 2002). A bonus, a free lunch, or a gift
card would make the employee feel as f they have the best job in the world. Reference: Clifton, D.

Analysis Of The Body By Stephen King
In the short story, The Body, written by Stephen King, various life lessons are evident in the
adventure the four main characters have. The life lessons chosen by the author are reflective of
life lessons that could be learned by the reader, and life lessons that are not always vocalized. In
Stephen King s The Body, the group of young boys learn many different life lessons including
familynot always being trustworthy, some things should be kept to yourself, and that friends, even
best friends, can split up. The main characters all have unique, yet abusive, relationships with their
families. As said in the introductory paragraph, this choice made by Stephen Kingwas incredibly
important and wise to make because especially in the sixties, which is when the story takes
place, it was a common occurrence that was often overlooked. One of the most evident life
lessons in the story was that relatives should not get a free pass to hurt each other. The character
Teddy s relationship with his father was overlooked, exclusively by Teddy himself, Teddy s dad
took Teddy over to the big woodstove at the back of the kitchen and shoved the side of Teddy s
head down against one of the cast iron burner plates . Teddy had a lot of respect for the father for
the soul reason that he is his father. If it was not for the fact that Teddy s father messed him up
physically and mentally for life, Teddy would treat the person with a lot less respect and nobility.
Despite that his father only

  • 2. Thernstrom s Argument Analysis Robert D. Putnam et. al. and Abigail Thernstrom et. al. address affirmative action policies at colleges and universities as a broader social issue than just an individual getting into the university in their amicus curiae briefs. Thernstrom submitted her amici brief in favor of the petitioner, Abigail N. Fisher et. al., and Putnam submits his amici brief in favor of the respondents, The Universityof Texas et. al. The University of Texas chose not to admit Ms. Fisher, who was then a high school student. Ms. Fisher then sued the University, arguing that the use of race in applications and admission decisions to and of the University were discriminatory under the 14th Amendment s Equal Protection Clause. These amici briefs were submitted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His experience in the classroom and his substantial research into both the positives and negatives of diversity make his clear, concise arguments are incredibly convincing, especially in regards to his own university classroom. Thernstrom, on the other hand, appears to be attempting to make a case for self evidence. Her arguments, such as minority students getting into universities because of upward ratcheting appear unsubstantiated. Indeed, her claim that many minority students cannot catch up to other students itself appears unsubstantiated. Further, because of she argues that many. Her omission of Dr. Putnam s research when it directly contradicted her arguments further diminishes her amicus curiae brief. Affirmative action, and race based admissions standards, are the best way to increase (or maintain) diversity at institutions of higher learning. In spite of its perceived flaws, it has increased the diversity at previously all white institutions of higher learning, such as the University of Texas at Austin, and that diversity has allowed friendships to be formed that otherwise would not have been, has allowed students to learn from professors they otherwise would never have and allowed professors to learn from students from a wide variety of ... • 3. Benefits Of A Shift From A Service Based Economy Introduction There is no doubt that nowadays we can observe a shift from a service based economy to an experience based economy as owners of businesses tend to commoditize services and thereby offer their customers not a simple service for the money but an unforgettable, special and highly valued experience. The service profit chain which links the employees , customers and owners satisfaction stands behind this experience. These days it is believed that customers want to receive an authentic and remarkable experience for their money, rather than a service which can be offered in every place, they want to feel unique, that is why there is a growing interest in this topic. According to B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore, an experience occurs when a company intentionally uses services as the stage and goods as props, to engage individual customers in a way that creates a memorable event (Pine II, Gilmore, 1998). Therefore, companies are trying to create a specific experience which will help them to distinguish themselves from other companies providing the same service. In order to do that it is very important to understand the links in the service profit chain. In every business and in a hotel industry especially it is crucial for every manager to understand how to maintain employees and customers satisfaction while continuing earning profit for the owner. First of all, every manager should comprehend the links in the service profit chain, for example, customer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Escher s Art Analysis Continuing with my self promotion pieces to get PalbergWERX Design + Photography noticed in this over stimulated communications age, I began work on my second famous artistic image in history. You can read Part 1 in this series HERE. [Click and drag to move] This time I choose M.C. Escher s work Humanity . Again, there have been numerous imitations and this ribbon type illustration is well known to the general public. This is a much more challenging project as the illustration is very precise in how it is able to convey the front features of both characters as well as make a believable ribbon that shows both the volume and shape of both heads. As I mentioned, it was important that the work was now in the creative commons, even if I was not going to use the original work in my promo piece itself. Below is the image that I achieved in my first try at this. In hindsight, I had a few issues that I didn t fix, but will highlight during this article. [Click and drag to move] The first step is finding a suitable photo in my case, I wanted two images of myself but, not mirrored and somewhat posed like the original Escher heads. In my case, because I don t have long flowing hair haha it was easy to mask out my head from the background. This isn t strictly necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I began working the text in InDesign, just to find the right font combination as well as a rough layout. I soon realized that writing the text all on a single line would be much too long for the image and the result is that the text would be too small in proportion to the heads, it just wouldn t look right. When I placed the Palberg above the WERX I knew I was then going in the right direction. For the most in control I created a unique layer for each letter and then just moved them around until the composition looked right. Next it was time to customize the ... • 5. Persuasive Essay No On Traveling To Mars Darren Gamble Mr. Stewart ERWC 12 17 April 2017 No On Traveling To Mars Since the beginning of time, people have been curious, and are always trying to explore. But now it is 2017, and we have to understand what we should do and what we shouldn t do. People today have a good idea about the hazards of space travel and know the consequences space travel can have for people. And after considering Andy Weir s statement regarding travel to Mars, I am of the opinion that we as a nation should not fund a manned mission to Mars in the near future because it will be very expensive, we have a larger need to explore places here on Earth, and it purposes a large danger to the people traveling in space. First, trying to fund a manned mission to Mars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our bodies are not built for space. The exposure to radiation can cause cataracts, brain damage, and cancer. Weightlessness can cause muscle mass loss, bone mass loss, and bad circulation. Author of Humans may dream of traveling to Mars, but our bodies aren t built for it, Charles Wohlforth and Amanda Hendrix explains Doctor astronauts working on the International Space Station in 2009 also discovered that living in weightlessness can damage the optic nerve. In the absence of gravity, cerebral spinal fluid stops circulating. On voyages of more than a year, that could lead to blindness or contribute to dementia, [3]. This is a big problem when it comes to space travel, and should be NASA s biggest priority. In conclusion, traveling to Mars may seem like a great idea, but it really isn t. After considering Andy Weir s statement regarding travel to Mars, I am of the opinion that we as a nation should not fund a manned mission to Mars in the near future because it will be very expensive, we have a larger need to explore places here on Earth, and it purposes a large danger to the people traveling in space. Junior year brings a lot of changes in many students lives. It will test your strengths and weaknesses but it will reveal the type of individual you are. One idea that I was able to understand better was that it s important to know what your goals are. Having a goal will not only keep you focused in accomplishing said goal but it will also be the thing that keeps you moving forward despite the obstacles, that as an incoming junior, one will encounter throughout the year. Your goals do not have to be specific it can be something minor such as just getting through high schoolbeing proud of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Othello s Jealousy Shakespeare uses themes in many of his works such as love, betrayal and others. Many of these themes are present in the play Othello, another one of Shakespeare s works. Most obvious in the play Othello, is jealousy. Jealousy controls the characters in Othello from the beginning of the play to the end Some characters jealousy is caused by other characters, like Iago. He creates lies which cause other characters to act differently. He is jealous of Cassio and angry with Othellobecause he was not chosen as lieutenant of Cyprus, and Cassio was. Iago wants everyone to feel as bad as he does so he forces jealousy into other characters. Iago wants everyone to become jealous, so he betrays and manipulates the other characters. Othello starts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Haim Omer and Marcello Da Verona writers of the article Doctor Iago s treatment of Othello gives an example of Iago s manipulation and trickery when Brabantio is confronted by them about his daughter. Brabantio ignores what they say about Desdemona, because he does not want to believe his own daughter would to anything to disobey him, and he becomes angry because he has been woken up in the middle of the night. Iago responds by complimenting Brabantio. Brabantio yells, Thou art a villain Iago responds, You are a senator (I. i. 115 116). Brabantio is taken back by this complement and re thinks he situation. He now believes Iago and Roderigo, especially when he finds Desdemona missing from her bed chamber (Omer 1). Iago waits for whatever Othello says to figure out how to respond best to get the right reaction from him. For example, Othello asks Iago about Cassio being with Desdemona when they are seen together in private. Was that not Cassio parted from my wife? questions Othello to Iago, then Iago responds, Cassio, my Lord? Othello answers back, I do believe twas he (III. iii. 37 38, 40). Safety, Wellness And Health Of Emergency Medicine Service Safety and Wellness in the EMS System Introduction The wellness and health of emergency medicine service (EMS) workforces extends beyond just avoiding infections to include physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing. EMS workers usually encounter stressful events when performing their duties. There is no doubt that stress has a detrimental physiological impact on the human body; therefore, it is imperative for EMS workers to have stress management mechanisms, and be informed of the crisis intervention methods in order to cub illness related to stress (Brennan Krohmer, 2008). The benefits of wellness for EMS workers have been well documented in literature including having inner peace, an implied sense of individual purpose, and being physically adept in undertaking greater achievements. Physical health has been considered the most noticeable indicator of wellness. In a state of physical health, the human body can resist injury and illness, and function in an optimal manner characterized by improved cardiovascular capacity, respiratory reserve, and optimal blood pressure and heart rate. In addition, physical health is characterized by a reduction in the risk factors associated with a number of the major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and heart diseases among others. The Mask Of Symbols In Lord Of The Flies The Mask of Symbols I chose to make a mask to represent that there was a dark side to every character, not only Jack. This topic stood out to me because as the novel progressed,I saw that no matter who they were, every character showed their dark side at some point, even Ralph in chapter twelve when he was fighting for his life.I associate this mask to every single person. We all have a dark side, some just take more than others to unleash it.Some alternative ideas I considered were creating a personal mask that represents darkness into the light.I didn t choose it because the mask of symbols had a deeper image and stronger theme. • 10. Age of Chaucer Romaunt of the Rose: It s a lengthy allegorical poem written in octosyllabic couplets and based upon Le Romaunt de la Rose of Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meung. In this dream poem the narrator enters the Garden of Mirth, where he sees various allegorized figures and falls in love with a rosebud. Although thousands of Argentinians have disappeared through the years of the dirty war, their identity has not disappeared, through the power a name holds. Carlos Rueda, the protagonist, believes names to be much more than just a name. A name holds a person s uniqueness; their personality; their identity; and their story. Carlos is gifted with an imagination, which can predict the fate of the disappeared through the power these names hold. Although identity is a key theme, the overall message revolves around imagination. Throughout Imagining Argentina the use of imagination is always present. Thornton provides a powerful message which is imagination being our strongest tool; our reality. Imagination helps us through times of desperation and despair. • 30. Gun Weapons Of The United States There is an estimated 300 million registered gun owners in the United States. With that many Americans owning guns, its not a surprise nearly 68% of all homicides reported to the FBI involved firearms. It s a good thing the forensics of firearms has advanced to a point that with just a single round recovered, ballistic experts can tell investigators, what caliber round was fired what type of weapon fired the round, and in some cases the distance at which the round was fired. Without such advancement, more murderers would be walking free. When arriving to a crime scene where weapons are present, safety is always top priority. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. When deciding to unload a weapon you always want to do so with the utmost care, to preserve all types of evidence. This evidence includes fingerprints, blood, hair or fibers, cylinder halos and debris in the barrel and /or cylinder.(www.crime scene investigtor.net) Firearms should be unloaded and placed in a safe condition at the point of collection. By using personal experience, critical thinking and Christian integration I am able to evaluate the implications of divorce. Marriage is a vow intended to be kept, and when a couple decides to separate it detaches from God s perfect will for their lives. From a sociological standpoint divorcecan effect kids, government policies and communities. Divorce does not only effect the couple but people outside of it. The rate of separation is so prevalent that society accepts this as a social norm. The goal of my paper is to prove that divorcing is not beneficial for long term happiness or mental health. Identifying the solutions through a struggling marriageby epistemological thought and psychology will ultimately decline the rate of divorce. The concept of divorce can be understood through reason, empirical investigation and revelation. By reason, one can assume that divorce will not lead to happiness but to loneliness and uncertainty. This paper will further explore empirical investigation which has assessed that divorce will not guarantee true satisfaction or contentment. Through the testimonies of many, their experience has led to a revelation of truth in their lives, and the true meaning of marriage. • 52. Machiavelli And Love Friedrich Nietzsche s The Gay Science uses definitions and descriptions to compare love and greed and ultimately argue that love is often merely another name for greed. He contrasts love as having a positive connotation, whereas greed holds a negative one. But upon defining each and showing examples of love, he calls into question if the love of neighbors and love of truth and knowledge are not just another craving for possession. This desire for what is new is compared using the description of one s desire to travel to more beautiful places after living somewhere new for even just three months. This is different from Nietzsche s approach because he does not employ definitions and descriptions as much, but rather compares the degrees of severity in the effects of both love and fear. Machiavelli begins by noting that love is held by the tie of obligation and thus one may break that bond if he or she faces difficulty or has a personal interest. This is then compared with fear which is bound by the apprehension of punishment and is, therefore, a reliable relationship. Machiavelli compares these two examples of cause and effect to emphasize that in the context of an army, it is better to be feared than loved. His use of rhetoric here makes the reader consider the outcome of different war scenarios if the leader is not feared. He proposes that an army that loves its commander may fall apart due to the frail and fickle nature of man when in the heat of battle. This is then compared to a commander who has instilled a healthy fear in his army and, as a result, has remained victorious and united in the face of war. By using these techniques, he effectively argues that the impacts of being feared are far better than those of being loved. This method of comparison is different from Nietzsche s because Machiavelli assumes the definitions of his terms and goes right ahead to showing causes and effects of love and fear. Nietzsche ...
