Analysis Of Seated Nude By Aristide Maillol
Throughout history we see many things reused or repeated. This is true in art, many artworks
use influences of previous artists and or styles for their work. The reuse of old ideas is present
in many artworks to date. One piece created in the last century is Seated Nude by Aristide Maillol
which was created in 1902. By using his experiences in France and his travels around Europe,
Maillol experienced many different cultures. With the presence of past cultural artifacts in our as
influences in Europe even today we see evidence of many past cultures. Classical Greek Artis one
that is very present even today. Seated Nude specifically shows Maillol s admiration of the
Mediterranean with its influences in Greek Classical Art. By the use of naturalistic and organic
feature while highlighting realism and humanism, Maillol shows Classical constructs through his
piece.
Seated Nude is a terracotta sculpture on a black marble base. Housed at the Museum of Modern art
it stands 6 long 8 1/8 tall and 3 ВЅ wide. The piece features a woman seated on a ground with her
right arm extended back propping her up. Her other arm is bent and behind her head. The left
leg is bent in an inverted V with her foot on the ground. The right leg is bent lying flat on the
ground and going in between the V of her other leg. Her face, hair, hands, and feet are not heavily
detailed; however her features are clearly defined. The hair is pulled back with rounded hair in a
circle around her head,

Feminism In Wonder Woman
Who doesn t love a good superhero? The perfect figure, the spandex suit, the flowing cape, flawless
looks, and the powers we can only dream of having. Superheroes have been around for ages now,
leaving an everlasting imprint on our hearts. It is no secret that males dominate the superhero
industry; both the heroes themselves and those who create them. Superman, Batman, Ironman, and
Spiderman have become the top heroes of all time; there is nothing wrong with them holding the
spotlight, but female heroes are underrepresented. There are notable female heroes, but they tend
to be drawn with a busty figure that few women are naturally blessed with, and show little
emotional rational in fights. Take Black Widow (Marvel) for example, anyone would love for
her figure and kick ass moves. Wonder Woman is our hero of the hour, she has made her way
onto the big screen; casting her into the spotlight more than ever. She screams fights for love,
promotes peace, is a beacon of hope, and screams feminism. What s not to love? The new movie
released on June 2, 2017, has called more attention to the American spirited, Amazonian woman
than ever before. The movie is the first fully female directed movie, Patty Jenkins brings a great
female to the big screen. Although the movie is great and supports feminism, is the movie the
depiction of Wonder Woman that should be idealized? Feminism isn t some new, hip trend. It has
taken control of mainstream media, it s impossible to go on the internet

Gender Inequality In Ancient Civilizations
Gender inequality has been a common facet of various civilizations since the very first societies in
ancient Mesopotamia. Texts contemporary to the time period of each society allow us insight into
the different fashions by which men and women were positioned. It is difficult to speculate into the
roots of genderinequality; because each society was different, any attempt at pinpointing one
answer would be a sweeping generalization. Statements given in The Laws of Manu and the
argument made by Cicero in the defense of Marcus Caelius Rufus point to the seductive nature of
women and a distrust of their sexuality. The Romans and Indians had stricter biases than
Mesopotamia, however, in each civilization one still sees varying degrees of this bias. The fact
that gender inequality was a common feature of early civilizations ultimately comes from the
belief that It is the nature of women to seduce men in this world, . Sex and the expression of
sexuality was, outside of marriage, a capital offense in many of these cultures. Point 129 of

is in contrast to Table V from Ancient Rome s Twelve Tables, which states that Females should
remain in guardianship even when they have attained their majority. While Mesopotamian women
went back to their fathers in the event of divorce, Hammurabi s Code was much more explicit in
giving rights to women; a woman was specifically allowed to keep her dowry, which afforded her
some degree of independence, whereas Table V from Rome simply takes away from a woman s

The core objectives of SPC are to provide productivity and quality information about production
processes in real time. The principles of SPC take into account the following: All processes have
unique characteristics or hidden personalities that are inherent within them Data analysis provides
in depth understanding of process variations and identifies improvement opportunities Success in
real time SPC requires that measurement data be accurate, and collected in a timely manner.
Various gauging devices are used to ensure that a specific measurement is taken and recorded. SPC
software programs collect and store this data, analyzing it and creating graphs instantaneously. As a
factory floor application, that can be extended up to corporate offices and throughout the enterprise,
SPC software delivers vital quality data upstream to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). By
integrating live production data into enterprise wise systems, SPC plays a vital role in the business
continuous improvement strategy. SPC solutions are designed to allow companies to plan and
structure long term strategies and bring short term quality improvements into view. The scope,

Baseball As A National Pastime
Mary McGrory, an American journalist, writes, Baseball is what we were, and football is what we
have become ( Brainy Quotes ). Baseball is out and football is in. Only 27% of kids from ages 9 13
play baseball in the world today. There is no longer Take me out to the ball game, but let me watch
the game on my TV. Baseballas a national pastime has experienced a decline in popularity
because of the increase of popularity of football, length of the season and cost of a game, and
length of plays and the game itself. Some fans believe that the increase of popularity of sports
other than baseball, such as football, can be attributed to the average size of football stadiums and
the average game attendance. Americans in general like for things to be bigger and better and the
statistics for football stadium size and attendance show football facts far exceed baseball facts. For
example, the Dallas Cowboys stadiumis the largest NFL stadium seating a whopping 80,000 plus
20,000 standing. By comparison, the Los Angeles Dodgers, of the MLB, has the biggest
stadium in baseball seating 56,000 ( ESPN ). These stats show the increase in popularity of
football compared to the decrease of popularity of baseball. Research shows the Cowboys have
demand for more seating because of the number of tickets sold per game. The average game
attendance for an NFL game is greater compared to that of an MLB game. In fact, the Cowboys
sell an average of 92,867 tickets per game. On the other hand,

though Wardlow was not doing anything suspicious. Officer Nolan seeing the defendant flee,
chased and caught the defenfent. When caught officer Nolan did a protective pat down search for

Essay on Ford Supply Chain
2) What advantages does Dell derive from virtual integration? How important are these advantages
in the auto business? In terms of communication and coordination, vertical integration leads to
efficient and effective collaboration between supplier and Dell, and between Dell and customer
through the physical proximity, established patterns of communications, and greater willingness to
cooperate with other members of the same group. Another rationale for vertical integrationis real
time responsiveness and inventorymanagement. Dell has real time updating of order status and is
able to check order status regardless of where the order is in the fulfillment process, which provided

Ford should trim its supplier networks down to one or two tier and select the suppliers with
advanced and compatible IT capabilities. In the meantime, Ford should pay more attention to
building and strengthening the data linkages like communicating inventory levels and
replenishment needs regularly with vendors to facilitate the sharing of information in real time
fashion. Ford also needs to encourage the dealers to improve their IT ability and much more involve
them in forecasting demand. 4) If you were Teri Takai, what would you recommend to senior
executives? To what degree should Ford emulate Dell s business model?
I will recommend the BOD to approach the Dell model with a prudent attitude, neither too
aggressive nor too timid. Emulating the virtual integration should focus on developing the
strategic partnerships with technologically advanced suppliers and eliminating the correlation
with smaller ones. Ford would make sure that key suppliers have access to forecasting data from
customers purchasing trends and production information to enable a faster order to delivery cycle.
The difference in the distribution model between Dell and Ford lies in the middle link of using
retail shops. Since Ford cannot skip retail as a focal distribution point, it should work on
establishing a network of retail shops that it owned. Ford make sure shops are not affecting

Electricity And Its Effects On The Future
In the last decade, many issues have been raised related to our planet s health, because of the high
demand for electricity. People are used to flipping a switch and turning on lights, or turning on the
TV for entertainment, using the microwave, the refrigerator, and our heating system. These would
not be possible with out electrical power. People may not think of coalwhen they enjoy all these
conveniences, but coal is the primary source of power plants in United States and around the world.
Electricity is part of our daily lives, which makes our lives easier since it has been discovered, but
nobody thought about the dangerous consequences we will face, now and in the future. In addition,
most people do not know how electricity is produced; they just know how to consume it. Burning
coal in giant boilers to generate steam that produces electricity and power other industries.
However, the side effects of the use of coal to process energy have caused massive damage to
Mother Nature and our environment that is escalating to the next level. This is the destruction of
our environment. Electricity is primary conveniences as we continue develop our ways of living.
But people must find alternative ways to get power without damaging our environment.
In Coal s history nobody knows when the human race began to use coal as a source of power. In
addition, heat has been produced by wood and has been used longer than coal. The Romans, Greek
and Chinese discovered coal many years ago

How Stock Market Operates Paper

How Stock Market Operates It is easy to understand why many people lose a lot of money when
they invest in stock market, because the process of choosing the stock and investing is confusing.
Fortunately, the market itself is not as complicated or confusing as people think. To completely
understand the stock market and how it operates, will potentially help an investor to make good
investment decision. The basic definition of the stock market is the place where anyone can sell
and buy shares of the company. The trading begins when the company decides to make shares
available for public and what you get when you purchase a stock is a percentage ... Show more

For example, if expected earnings is good, the stock price will be driven up and then sold after
earnings announcement because the stock value is believed to have already achieved the
maximum point. Investors usually do not receive any of the company s profit even if they are
the shareholders of that company. In some cases, an investor on the big company will be able to
receive some of the company s profits called dividend. However, this does not apply to all
companies because they want to obtain their high profits in order to be able to pay for future
growth; this is called keeping cash in hand. Some investors have preference over another, some are
more interested in receiving dividends than in growth of the company. So the choice of investment
will entirely depend on your goals.
Science and Technology as Predictors of Stock Performance In this second paragraph, our main
focus is on how science, technology and stock performance related are and how science is used as a
stock performance s indicator. To begin, one of the most important objects that I found about
technology analysis is to completely understand how investing in stock market or technological
change can create economic benefits. However, the research study form Zhen Deng, shows that the
relationship between investing in economic performance country and are comparatively
insufficient. This paragraph is intended to help readers to understand how

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
One Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich was the first novel written by the Nobel laureate Alexandr
Solzhenitsyn. It revolves around one day in the life of an inmate in a Gulag , which was a name
given to the forced labor camps in the Soviet Union. The novel is set during the winter of 1951
when the Soviet Union was under the communist rule of Joseph Stalin. The novel can be seen as an
autobiographical account of Solzhenitsyn s life as the author was arrested for making derogatory
remarks about Stalin, following which he spent a long time in prisons and labor camps very
similar to the one described in the novel. The novel has been written in the first person narrative
through the eyes of Ivan Denisovich who is serving his eighth year of his ten year sentence.

Southwest Airlines Business Strategy
Southwest Airlines is an organization known for making flying affordable, offering legendary
customer service, and treating employees with respect. The company s strategy of putting people
over profits has delivered number 1 rankings in customer and employee satisfaction. It would be
easy to say karma was playing an enormous role in the company s success, but things would change.
A combination of internal growth, government regulations, price of resources and growingly
disgruntled employees has put the company in a tough strategic situation.

A Journal Of The Plague Year, By Daniel Defoe
H.F. s Curiosity and Desire A Journal of the Plague Year was written by Daniel Defoe, and
published in 1722. This book is a novel in form of a journal that recreates the plague in London in
1665. In this novel, the author gives life to the main character and narrator H.F., which after
having the option of leaving town to avoid getting sick, decides to stay because he thought and
believed God was sending him the message, through a bible passage, that he should stay in London
and he would be safe. When the plague took place, Daniel Defoewas around five years old, for that
reason we know that he was not present at the moment of the plague in London. Still, there s the
false frame. The story isn t really being told by H. F., it s being told by Defoe. That s... Show more

But at the end, the detailed scenes H. F. describes are his observations, not his experiences
(Kelly 55). So, by being more of a witness than a victim of the plague, he brings a lot of details to
the story, which is his way of persuading his audience, by the use of Logos. For example, As near
as I may judge, it was about 40 foot in length, and about 15 or 16 foot broad; and at the time I
first looked at it, about nine foot deep (Defoe 2302). For some authors like Juengel, the excessive
amount of details into the story goes more towards eccentric and macabre
But, What does the plague mean? ... Literature has reflected the tendency to make plague a
vehicle for allegory, and the interpretive bent is usually religious: plague is the punishment of a
sinful people by an angry god (Stephanson 225). I think that H.F. agreed with this definition, or at
least he believed that God had a purpose for this plague. From the beginning of the story, H.F.
shows us that he believes in God and in God s messages, just like when he thought that God had a
purpose or a mission for him to stay in

The Dangers Of Secondhand Smoking
We have laws that protect minors from physical abuse, but isn t the damage from secondhand
smoking also considered physical abuse?
Secondhand smoke is the combination of the smoke exhaled by smokers and the burning end of a
cigarette. This smoke is dangerous for children and should not be used in the car with children.
Why is Secondhand Smoking Bad for Children?
Secondhand smoking cause many defects for children as they grow up. As parents of young
children smoke in the car, these children are exposed to this secondhand smoke frequently.
According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Secondhand smoke causes
numerous health problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma
attacks, respiratory infections, ear infection, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). As these
children group up, the health problems resulting from the secondhand smoke exposure affects their
lifestyle and future.
Children do not deserve to be exposed to such toxic things so young. They are innocent victims
to their parents bad habit and life choices. Children are vulnerable and clearly do not know what
these chemicals do to their bodies so they are defenseless against the dangers of secondhand
smoke. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also states, Secondhand smoke contains
more than 7,000 chemicals, hundreds are toxic and about 70 are known to cause cancer. I believe
that it is not okay to for parents to think that exposing children to secondhand smoke is not a
problem. This mentality that there is not a problem is the problem with secondhand smoking. I am
not asking parents to stop smoking just to take is outside away from childrens developing bodies.
Secondhand smoke is dangerous to all passengers in the car. The Americans for Nonsmokers
Rights (ANR) argues, Exposing passengers, both children and adults, to secondhand smoke in the
confined space of a car is extremely hazardous. This hazard is something that can be avoided, if
laws are passed to make smoking with children in the car illegal.

This has led us to believe that men s sports deserve more attention and funds. Title IX fixed the
funding issue but made it almost impossible to comply to. The problem with the law was its
proportionality factor. There had to be an equal number of sports and similar spending on
activities for boys and girls. A few sports that are quite expensive are available to both genders
but are dominated by men; such as football and wrestling. The cost of these programs was far
greater than the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount
of money wasn t being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario
became lenient because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for
certain sports to operate. This issue makes it almost impossible to be proportional so only 20% of
all high schools and universities are technically in compliance with Title IX requirements (New

Exile And Pain In Three Elegiac Poems Essay
There is a great similarity between the three elegiac poems, The Wanderer, The Wife of Lament,
and The Seafarer. This similarity is the theme of exile. Exile means separation, or banishment from
ones native country, region, or home. During the Anglo Saxon period, exile caused a great amount
of pain and grief. The theme is shown to have put great sadness into literature of this time period.
The majority of the world s literature from the past contains the theme of exile. The Wife of Lament
is another perfect example of literature with exile, and was written by an unknown author.
The most striking example of exile in this poem can be seen in the passage when she says, quot;A
song I sing of sorrow unceasing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author continually describes how incredibly miserable he is living his life in exile, how
awful it is to have to live without the guidance from a higher rank being a lord and king in this
case, how there is no one to talk to and to share ones feelings with, and how there is no money or
riches of any kind‚ for a man who is living in exile.
For the most part, the poem is sad and depressing and the reader easily sees what this man is
going through and how terrible it must be for him to live without all the things many others take
for granted everyday of their lives. The author of this poem, who has obviously been exiled,
does an exquisite job of showing, maybe even teaching, to the reader how important the things
are that you lose in life when exiled, no matter how rich or poor you are. You take the greatest
loss of all when you are exiled, you take the loss of losing everything that makes it seem
purposeful for you to live out the day you just began. This is obviously the idea the author is
trying to get across in this poem. Throughout the poem The Seafarer, also composed by an
unknown author, it is obvious that the man is not exiled directly in the ways people have been
exiled in the other poems, however being stuck on a ship is in many ways quite similar to being
exiled from your homeland. Numerous passages in this poem show this mans painful life at sea.
The one that stands out most greatly to me is this passage;

What Role Does Religion Play In Hamlet
As a shadow approached Marcellus, Barnardo, and Horatio, they questioned the state of their
country and the unfortunate circumstances regarding Hamlet. The ghost, originally a catholic idea,
was presented as an uncertain character is used to symbolize the development of the revenge plot,
delay of Hamlet s actions, and foreshadowing of death. The ghostdid not simply introduce an idea of
revenge, it also represented the unpleasant idea which at the time was popular: revenge. When the
ghost approaches Hamlet, it lures him to create a private conversation between them. The ghost told
Hamlet, Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder, and led Hamlet in a direction that shifted his

Seeing ghosts in any tradition is an omen of something negative. Marcellus directly said,
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (Shakespeare, Act 1, Scene 4). As a tragedy, death is
certainly one of the many themes of Hamlet. The ghost, a dead person s soul, tells Hamlet that his
father s death was caused by his uncle. By suggesting revenge as a way to fix his father s sins, the
ghost s dialogue foreshadows the death of the Claudius. Given the circumstances of the public
agreeing to usurp of the throne, Hamlet s unusual behavior, and involvement of outside characters,
Hamlet s journey to seek vengeance will include the death of other characters. The ghost acted as
the firebrand that initiated a series of deaths by simply suggesting the death of one individual:
Claudius. Without much effort, Hamlet is persuaded to avenge his late father and unknowingly take
his own life. Marcellus statement ultimately became the truth after the death of both Claudius and
Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and some other uninvolved characters like Ophelia and Polonius. The
ghost did not only complicate the entire story of Hamlet, it also developed the theme of revenge
and Hamlet s delay of vengeance. However, it can be inferred that if the character of the ghost was
not included in the story, then the story of Hamlet would not have happened. In the process

Washburn Women s Venture Partners: Proposal for Grant Funding: the iRead Common Reading
Program Purpose: The iRead common reading program at Washburn University was developed to
enhance the educational experience of the students and the greater Washburn/Topeka community.
Common reading programs merge the curricular and cocurricular components of college and
reinforce the message that learning occurs both inside and outside the classroom.* Such programs
help students understand that reading, critical thinking, discussion, and other activities are
expected in college and contribute to learning.* Reading can promote more meaningful learning.

Since that time, those funds were not replaced and further budget cuts were made. In short,
much of the money for the program was gone. A book was selected for 2009 and used in some
courses, but we were unable to bring the author in for a speaking engagement (the primary cost
of the program). Each of the previous years cost approximately $15,000. The small amount of
funding still available for the program was just not adequate to provide for bringing in the
author. Objectives: Develop a cohesiveness between students (especially the entering freshman
class). No matter what classes they are taking or various activities in which they participate, they
will all have a common experience of reading the iRead book. Once again, encourage as many
instructors as possible to utilize the book in their curriculum. (This was especially successful in
the past with the English and Human Services departments.) Provide additional cocurricular
activities, such as Mondays at the Mabee events, to promote and expand upon the book and its
topics. Bring the author to campus as a culminating activity for the Washburn and Topeka
community. Benefits/Outcomes: The success of this program will, once again, be measured by a
combination of the following: Was the book used by a variety of instructors across the discipline
areas? How many books did the WU Bookstore sell? Did we have a variety of supplemental
activities during the fall semester

Strong Feelings in Macbeth and the Old Nurse s Story Essay
By examining The Old Nurse s Story and Macbeth , in detail, compare and contrast how Elizabeth
Gaskell and Shakespeare explore strong feelings in these two texts.
Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and
it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I.
Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this
was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth
s most powerful emotions. The play also reflects a widespread fascination with witchcraft and
Shakespeare exploits this interest for dramatic effect. In 1597, James I published his own book ...

Grace is wearing posh clothes in the portrait, which shows that she is upper class, but even this

The impression that we are given in the opening scene of Macbeth is that the actions of only a
few people will deal with the fate of the whole kingdom. This is hinted at when the witches speak
of a battle being lost and won , as the word battle usually refers to a conflict on a large scale, which
suggests that numerous people in the kingdom could be affected. This battle could tie in to the
strong feelings of guilt, ambition and determination on many levels. The battle could be a spiritual
one between the good (the Thanes) and the evil (the supernatural), or a mental battle in Macbeth s
conscience; all of which could cause the characters to explore their innermost thoughts. Both of
these openings anticipate the release of strong emotions from the protagonists, which are caused by

The American Revolution And American History Essay
The American Revolution was an important moment in American history. The revolution shed new
light on how people could live and how a nation could be governed. Looking back, one might think
that the British saw the American colonists as a group of people easy to conquer. In the time
period of the American Revolution, women were seen more as property rather than active
participants in war, but women played a large part in the war. In the end, the American Revolution
transformed the United Statesfrom a collection of agrarian colonies into a self sustaining country.
The American Revolution was the war that decided the United States independence. The war
between the United Stated and Britain lasted 8 years, 1775 1783, but the tension between these two
formed long before the war began. The tension between the two countries escalated when King
George III began to tax the American colonies. The Stamp Act, The Townshend Tariffs, and the Tea
Act, all increased the tension between Great Britain and the United States. Violence between the
two sides escalated quickly when British soldiers fired upon a mob in Boston. This slaughter later
became known as the Boston Massacre. Later, in 1773, British Parliament became even more
outraged with the colonials after the event known as the Boston Tea Partyand created the Coercive
Acts, making clear that the British were the authority. In 1775 the Continental Congress met in
Philadelphia and declared independence from Great Britain thereby

The Relationship Between Punk and Dada Essay
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DADA AND PUNK
It is difficult to estimate when people began to create different theories, movements and
ideologies with regards to what is positive and negative in the world that we live in. A part and
parcel of human nature has always been an individual desire to be a part of the perfect world
which unfortunately is mainly stimulated by individuals in power. Therefore this bore a
disagreement and critique among minorities and has been exploding over the centuries in different
forms of cultural movements. One of the greatest cultural trends began in Zurich and it is known as
Dadaism. During World War I a group of individuals created Dadain reaction to what they

The message that Dada and Punk tried to achieve through their work in the context of desired
reality is very similar as both of them bore from a social outburst. Punk was a form of artistic
anarchy against system control and specific pattern of society, whereas Dada was an Anti War
movement . However, very interesting is the fact that they were relatively unrelated and occurred
around 50 years apart. Although the vocalist of a very controversial punk rock band Sex Pistols ,
Johnny Rotten said he had never heard about Dada there can be found the same themes of
inspirations as in Dadaism. Therefore assuming that the group Sex Pistols did not model on
Dadaism and any other movements or trends, this might be associated with a human nature. The
nature, that does not like to be manipulated, controlled or skipped as a microscopic minority.

nihilistic and propagating belief in nothing and the wish to become nothing. Punk was against

Examples Of Self-Sacrifice In Cyrano De Bergerac
Was Cyrano s act of self sacrifice worth his anguish?
You d do anything for love, right? In Edmond Rostand s novel Cyrano De Bergerac, Cyrano s act
of self sacrifice was not worth his anguish because not only did it hurt him but it also hurt Roxane in
the long run. Throughout the novel, Cyrano continuously sacrifices his happiness for Roxane s
benefit. He set her up with another man (Christian), tricked her into believing Christian was writing
her letter when it was really Cyrano, and didn t reveal the truth until it was too late. Although this
showed his love for Roxane, it was deceitful and ended up hurting her as much as it hurt him.
Helping the woman you love be with another man is bound to hurt. It s inevitable. When Roxane
tells Cyrano about her love for another man (Christian) and asks him to protect him, Cyrano does
that and more. Cyrano says, tis well, I will protect your little baron... (Rostand 66). when he agrees

A Soldier s Dignity In The Life Of A Fallen German Soldier
The thought of being entangled in barbed wire after being shot is an idea that makes me cringe. I
cannot fathom the pain that the soldiers in these situations must have felt, but I can understand the
factors that allowed for their killing. I believe the moral factor most relevant in mercy killing is
dignity. As humans, we offer sympathy for our peers that are suffering. In addition, we help them to
keep their dignity by trying to ease their pains. In the second scenario, the author describes a
scene in which a fallen German soldier screams in pain and calls for his mother throughout the
night. It is understood that the German will not survive as he was stranded, and as members of
the same profession, we should respect the German s dignity by putting him out of his suffering.
Considering that he will not survive, we recognize the pain he feels is unwarranted, so why allow
him suffer and scream? More generally, the purpose of mercy killing is not to commit a malicious
act against a friend or foe, but it is to induce their inevitable deathwith less suffering. By ending the
torment of those in pain, we are respecting their dignity by not allowing them to experience
unnecessary agony. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Character Analysis Of A Jury Of Her Peers
The story, A Jury of Her Peers , took place in a time where men were perceived as the more
dominant figures. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters take different approaches to this topic. Mrs. Hale feels
belittled and takes offense to this. On the other, this belittlement does not affect Mrs. Peters too
much. Mrs. Peters is a soft spoken, gentle womanwho is married to a sheriff. While Mrs. Hale is a
strong willed woman from a farmhouse, the gender roles really affect Mrs. Peters decision
making a lot. Mrs. Peters does not usually get into too many verbal fights with the men, but Mrs.
Hale sometimes does get in a skirmish with them. For example, George Henderson was washing
his hands and then he had to wipe his hand with a dirty towel. His immediate perception of
Minnie Wright was that she is dirty and not a great house cleaner. Then Mrs. Hale retaliated to
this by saying that when one is a farmer s wife, the work is never ending. Mrs. Hale said this
because she herself is a farmer s wife. Though Mrs. Peter s is soft spoken and listens to everything

The Lictors Returning to Brutus the Bodies of his Sons , is a painting by the French artist Jean Louis

This was not an uncommon reaction towards David s art at the time. However, the painting was
restored to a place of honor by Baudelaire, who wrote :
This painting is David s masterpiece and one of the great curiosities of modern art because, by a
strange feat, it has nothing trivial or vile. What is most surprising in this very unusual visual poem
is that it was painted very quickly. When one thinks of the beauty of the lines, this quickness is
bewildering. This is food for the strong, the triumph of spiritualism.
David s artwork did not just involve the use of pretty colours. Many of his paintings beared
powerfull meanings, historically and politically. Culturally they had a huge impact on social
activity during the French Revolution. The story of Brutus was popular with educated sections of
the French public during the eighteenth century. Voltaire s play Brutus , was performed on stage
from 1730. In November 1790, the first two performances of a revival of Brutus at the National
Theater in Paris took place. At the second performance of the revival, a stage tableau of David s
painting was acted out at the moment when the death of Brutus son was announced.
Like his later Death of Marat , David s Brutus can be seen as a representation of a kind of
political heroism in which the best interests of society are put before those of the individual. His
painting also appeared at a time when a general dissatisfaction

During this time period consumer spending declined, unemployment increased, and a severe

Sacred Violence in Shirley Jackson s The Lottery . In this work, Bailey reasons that The Lottery is a
story which encompasses violence through tradition, an agricultural fertility ritual, and

one of the main characters, Old Man Warner stands for the voice of an older generation who does

Male dependence and dominance in A Streetcar Named Desire
For many generations American men have dominated both marital relationships and society in
general. This domination has resulted in a dependence on men for economic stability and an
illusory happiness believed by women. This falsified necessity for a male counterpart has resulted
in the destruction of female independence and sexual oppression. Through close analysis of the
behaviors and beliefs of the female protagonist in the play, A streetcar named desireby Tennessee
Williams, it is evident that Blanche and Stella live in a patriarchal society in which they overly

Through close research of this play, many quotes from both primary and secondary sources
prove her dependence. We can assume that Blanche s entire perspective is that men are her only
source of happiness and success. First, Blanche is very conscious of her appearance; hiding
herself under dim lights and make up, afraid of being judged by men around her. Whoever you
are I have always depended on the kindness of strangers (Williams 142), Blanche s need for
kindness of strangers refers to her miscellaneous encounters with men in the past to make her
feel worthy. She means what she says when she urges them not to notice her (toles). Toles refers
to scene 3, where it is evident that Blanche seeks approval from men around her even though
they payed no mind to her. Another demonstration of her need for admiration to gain self
confidence is this excerpt You haven t said a word about my appearance (Williams 21), where
she urged Stanley to notice her to fulfill her desire to feel beautiful. Not only did Blanche believe
a male s opinion was almost a necessity, she also believed that they were the only thing that can

Marine Pollution In The Great Barrier Reef
What is Marine Pollution?
Marine pollution is the spreading of harmful substances into the ocean. Oil, carbonic acid and
plastics are harming the marine environment as well as the wide variety of animals and plants
within. Marine pollution is caused by many industrial and domestic activities such as oil spills,
garbage dumping, factory waste disposal and the burning of fossil fuels. A few of the main
causes in the great barrier reef are oil spills, the burning of fossil fuels and general waste.Fossil
fuels affect the reefs by the carbon dioxide from the fossil fuels accumulates in the atmosphere.
As carbon dioxide enters the ocean, it reacts with the seawater to form carbonic acid. The
carbonic acid harms oysters, mussels and clams, floating marine snail as well as the coral reefs all
of which are significant to the marine food webs.
The oils spills can kill the animals or delay their reproduction, growth and development. The entire
reef ecosystem can suffer from an oil spill, affecting the many species of fish, crabs, and other
marine animals that live in and around the coral reefs.
Who is involved with Marine Pollution?
Many people are to blame for Marine Pollutions in the Great Barrier Reef. Anyone ... Show more

I have based my research in the Great Barrier Reef. The great barrier reef is situated in the Coral Sea
, on Australia s north eastern coast. It stretches 2,300km along Queensland s coastline, beginning
at the top of Cape York Peninsula in the north and traveling all the way down to Bundaberg in
the south. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef ecosystem on earth, representing about
10% of all the world s coral reefs. The Reef was listed on the World Heritage Register in 1981 on
the basis of its Outstanding Universal Value.
The Reef contains the greatest species diversity of any World Heritage Area on the planet,

Barn Animal Vignettes
Vignettes
The Barn Animal Although she knew nothing about them, morgan was obsessed with horses.
Maybe she liked the way they looked majestically standing in the beating sun, or maybe she
loved playing with her plastic four legged barn animals which she knew nothing on how to tame
a live one. Whatever is was, she was eager to ride one. By the time she and I were ready, I took her
to my barn to ride a horse. Morgan had not a clue how to ride the four legged real barn animal.
She was very comfortable with pretending that she was the best competitor in the world with
her plastic barn animals. We stepped into the barn where you can see stall after stall of neutral
colored horses. My horse, Austin, was black, and a little undersized, and perfect for a beginner.
She couldn t wait any longer, so as soon she got on the horse, she told me It felt natural, she wasn
t scared. It did not take her very long to learn how to steer the majestic earthly creature. The more
she coiled around the barn the wider her smile got. After a while she settled getting her own trainor.

Firewall Attack Essay
In the world of computer and network security, there are myriad ways to launch an attack, which,
from the perspective of a network, can usually be defined as traffic that has vicious intent. There
are infinite computer attacks that no firewall can prevent, such as those executed locally on the
machine by a malicious user. From the network s perspective, there are numerous types of attack.
Attacks can be grouped into two types: brute force and precision. Juniper Firewallhas the capability
to protect against both types of attack. Denial of Service (DoS) attacks are one of the most well
known network security threats under brute force attacks, which is largely due to the high profile
way in which they can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can use flows or sessions as a way to determine whether traffic attempting to traverse the
firewall is legitimate. We control the state checking components resident in Juniper Firewall by
configuring flow settings. These settings allow you to configure state checking for various
conditions on the device. You can use flow settings to protect against TCP hijacking, and to
generally ensure that the fire wall is performing full state processing when desired. We take a case

Netscreen Firewall. A new solution for securing enterprise networks will be developed here.
1.INTRODUCTION
A number of malicious attacks which causes disruption to the processes has been increased due to
an increase in the tremendous expansion in the field of computer networks. The main aim of
network administrators is to provide continuous services to which they are intended to. Currently,
the main aim of researchers is to provide secure network whereas, little intervention has been given
to the quantification of network security which includes assessing of the vulnerability and
malicious attacks to these systems. One of the huge networks which has more possibility to

Bay Laurel Essay
My hypothesis was correct, the 100% Bay Laurel Solution worked most effectively as compared to
the other solution. My data supports my hypothesis by showing that the 100% Bay Laurel
controlled the dandelions within four days. The 75% Bay Laurel solution controlled the dandelions
within six days, the 50% Bay Laurelsolution controlled the dandelion within seven days. The
control group, however, was not able to control the dandelion in the given time.
The most important part of the experiment was not whether the hypothesis was correct, but it was
what I gained from the project. As I progressed with my experiment, I learned many things. My
knowledge of the Bay Laurel, Laurus nobilis, plant expanded greatly. I learned that the Bay laurel

First, my experiment provides an organic, non chemical weed killer, that people may use. Using an
organic weed killer does not pose a large threat as compared to a chemical weed killer. The
chemical weed killer would affect the soil, nutrients, and the water underground in a very
harmful way. On the other hand, the Bay Laurel weed killer does not pose such a large threat
because of the fact that the organic weed killer itself is a plant. There is also a price difference,
chemical weed killer costs about $15 30. In contrast, the Bay Laurel weed killer requires plain
tap water and Bay Laurel leaves. Another advantage of an organic weed killer is that it does not
affect the human health as greatly as the chemical weed killers. For example, if chemicals come in
contact with the skin, it may cause irritation and even a rash. However, Bay Laurel has a distinct,
soothing fragrance. The only time to be concerned is when the Bay Laurel has been eaten, due to
the fact that it can destroy internal organs. Even though it might take more time and effort than a
chemical weed killer, it is worth it to save our environment and the

In order to cure market imperfections and improve access to quality medical care, governments
have commonly taken one of two approaches: a national health service or the promotion of health
insurance. Although the United States system relies much more deeply on private insurers, health
insurance in both France and America is closely tied to one s employer or socio professional
group. This basic similarity is joined by other fundamental principles, especially in regard to the
freedom of medical practice and patient choice.
COMPARISONS: PRIVATE MEDICINE
This basic comparison is joined by important principles to the freedom of medical practice and
patient choice. As in the U.S., independent physicians dominate ambulatory health care in France.
Patient choice of physician, direct access to specialists, patient payment of fees (with subsequent
reimbursement), physicians freedom of diagnosis and prescription, fee for service, and ultrahigh
levels of medical confidentiality remain well entrenched features of French medicine. Also like
in the United States., French employers and workers split the cost of health insurance on payday.
In both countries the employers and workers pay the majority of their medical care through
premiums calculated by their gross wages. French employers and their employees pay wage levies
of approximately 20%; employees pay a one percent wage levy as well as a social contribution that
varies according to income. Employers pay a straight 13

the way they made the contracts.

crowds at a rapid speed. Lyddie is sent off by her own mother to work at a tavern. She is fired
and now has to go work at a textile mill. Lyddie now finds a petition going around that will fight

Some might say she should not sign the petition or she will get blacklisted. If she gets sent home
by any injury, she cannot work for money so she has to have better working environments. The
first reason why Lyddie should sign the petition is because of her low compensation. Her mother
sent Lyddie to work to pay off a debt owed by her family. This means that Lyddie needs higher
wages in order to pay off what they owed. According to Lyddie it stated, Lyddie was given
another loom and then another, she could tend all four and felt a satisfying disdain for those
who could not do the work. (89) This shows that Lyddie can keep up the pace but does she know
when to stop? If she does not know what the debt is, how can she possibly know how much
money she needs to earn? She could have been doing this superfluous work in order to keep her
compensation the same. You can infer that the family debt is high because of Lyddie getting an
upraised pay among all the other girls, yet she cannot pay off the debt of what they owed. In a
span of two years and with a pay double of what she would habitually have, she did not earn the
money in order to pay off the

how this could produce a signal. We know that electromagnetic radiation is produced by
accelerating charges. In the radio transmitter, electrons oscillate up and down and are thus
accelerating. An electron will exert a force on another electron when they are some distance away,
like charges repel. When the electron in the transmitter oscillates up and down, the direction of the
force it exerts changes since the source of the force is moving. It takes some time for the change ...

Either way this is about 10 or so grid points.
5) If the amplitude is increased, what happens to the wavelength? The wavelength stays the same
The amplitude affects the strength of the force, that is the length of the force vectors in the
electromagnetic wave. The wavelength of the wave depends only on the frequency with which the
electron in the transmitting antenna is oscillating up and down; and the speed of light.
Wavelength x Frequency = Speed of Light
6) If the oscillation frequency of the transmitting electron decreases, the oscillation frequency of the
electron in the receiver is instantaneously affected.

The electron in the receiving antenna feels only the force resulting from the electromagnetic wave
at its current location. It only receives the transmitting electron because of the effects that the
transmitting electron has on the electromagnetic waves. So the receiving

Political Philosophy Of Liberalism
Liberalism is a political viewpoint that is established on the thoughts of liberty and equality. Thus,
liberalists promote various ideas that are aligned to the concepts of liberty and equality such as
freedom of speech, freedom of religion, gender equality, and civil rights. In general, it can be
argued that the philosophy of liberalismis focused on protecting and promoting the freedom of the
people (Celikates and Jansen). As such, it presents the people as the central issue of politics. In
fact, according to the liberalists, the main function of the government is to protect individuals from
being oppressed by others. Nonetheless, liberalists are also aware that in the process of offering

socio economic and political excellence.
3. What is neoliberalism (you get a sense of neoliberalism in David Harvey, Elizabeth Povinelli,
Michel Foucault, and Wendy Brown s work)? What critiques of neoliberalism do Harvey,
Povinelli, and Brown offer? Neoliberalism refers to a perspective that sees mall time as working
time. It encourages people to participate in socio economic activities at all the time in a bid to
realizing the desired development. It plays an essential role in empowering the people to remain
committed to realizing success in life by engaging them to work at all the times (Harvey 44). It
does not acknowledge the significance of leisure in the socio economic development of an
individual. Critics of neoliberalism are against the fact that a person solely focuses on realizing
success at the expense of their wellbeing. It is of the essence for a person to allocate adequate
time for rest and leisure to realize the desired socio economic success (Harvey 47). Although the
critics of neoliberalism are not against working, they are against the non stop working of the

Macromolecules Of Carbohydrates
Background and Carbohydrates
How are macromolecule polymers assembled from monomers? How are they broken down?
To assemble a macromolecule polymer from monomers, the monomers must bond. This is a
process known as a dehydration reaction, in which a water molecule is lost to form the bond.
When this process occurs, each of the two bonded monomers provides part of the water molecule
that was lost in the dehydration reaction: one contributes a hydroxyl group and the other a
hydrogen. Dehydration reaction can take place over and over again, losing a water molecule every
time, and forming a chain of monomers: a macromolecule. These macromolecules are disassembled
by hydrolysis. This process is the inverse of a dehydration reaction: the covalent bond between the
monomers is broken when water is added, a hydrogen attaching to one monomer and a hydroxyl
group attaching to the other.
How can you tell a biological molecule is a carbohydrate?
Carbohydrates are sugars that contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in a 1:2:1 ratio. They can be
used for storage, structure, and energy. An example is glucose, with chemical formula C6H12O6.
Explain the relationship between monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.
All three are carbohydrates. Monosaccharides are the simplest carbohydrates and are classified as
simple sugars with molecular formulas that are multiples of CH2O. Disaccharides are two
monosaccharides bonded by a glycosidic linkage (a covalent bond formed by dehydration

  • 3. Feminism In Wonder Woman Who doesn t love a good superhero? The perfect figure, the spandex suit, the flowing cape, flawless looks, and the powers we can only dream of having. Superheroes have been around for ages now, leaving an everlasting imprint on our hearts. It is no secret that males dominate the superhero industry; both the heroes themselves and those who create them. Superman, Batman, Ironman, and Spiderman have become the top heroes of all time; there is nothing wrong with them holding the spotlight, but female heroes are underrepresented. There are notable female heroes, but they tend to be drawn with a busty figure that few women are naturally blessed with, and show little emotional rational in fights. Take Black Widow (Marvel) for example, anyone would love for her figure and kick ass moves. Wonder Woman is our hero of the hour, she has made her way onto the big screen; casting her into the spotlight more than ever. She screams fights for love, promotes peace, is a beacon of hope, and screams feminism. What s not to love? The new movie released on June 2, 2017, has called more attention to the American spirited, Amazonian woman than ever before. The movie is the first fully female directed movie, Patty Jenkins brings a great female to the big screen. Although the movie is great and supports feminism, is the movie the depiction of Wonder Woman that should be idealized? Feminism isn t some new, hip trend. It has taken control of mainstream media, it s impossible to go on the internet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gender Inequality In Ancient Civilizations Gender inequality has been a common facet of various civilizations since the very first societies in ancient Mesopotamia. Texts contemporary to the time period of each society allow us insight into the different fashions by which men and women were positioned. It is difficult to speculate into the roots of genderinequality; because each society was different, any attempt at pinpointing one answer would be a sweeping generalization. Statements given in The Laws of Manu and the argument made by Cicero in the defense of Marcus Caelius Rufus point to the seductive nature of women and a distrust of their sexuality. The Romans and Indians had stricter biases than Mesopotamia, however, in each civilization one still sees varying degrees of this bias. The fact that gender inequality was a common feature of early civilizations ultimately comes from the belief that It is the nature of women to seduce men in this world, . Sex and the expression of sexuality was, outside of marriage, a capital offense in many of these cultures. In point 149, women are again afforded their dowry should she refuse to live in her husband s house... This is in contrast to Table V from Ancient Rome s Twelve Tables, which states that Females should remain in guardianship even when they have attained their majority. While Mesopotamian women went back to their fathers in the event of divorce, Hammurabi s Code was much more explicit in giving rights to women; a woman was specifically allowed to keep her dowry, which afforded her some degree of independence, whereas Table V from Rome simply takes away from a woman s ... Baseballas a national pastime has experienced a decline in popularity because of the increase of popularity of football, length of the season and cost of a game, and length of plays and the game itself. Some fans believe that the increase of popularity of sports other than baseball, such as football, can be attributed to the average size of football stadiums and the average game attendance. Americans in general like for things to be bigger and better and the statistics for football stadium size and attendance show football facts far exceed baseball facts. For example, the Dallas Cowboys stadiumis the largest NFL stadium seating a whopping 80,000 plus 20,000 standing. By comparison, the Los Angeles Dodgers, of the MLB, has the biggest stadium in baseball seating 56,000 ( ESPN ). These stats show the increase in popularity of football compared to the decrease of popularity of baseball. Research shows the Cowboys have demand for more seating because of the number of tickets sold per game. The average game attendance for an NFL game is greater compared to that of an MLB game. In terms of communication and coordination, vertical integration leads to efficient and effective collaboration between supplier and Dell, and between Dell and customer through the physical proximity, established patterns of communications, and greater willingness to cooperate with other members of the same group. To what degree should Ford emulate Dell s business model? I will recommend the BOD to approach the Dell model with a prudent attitude, neither too aggressive nor too timid. Emulating the virtual integration should focus on developing the strategic partnerships with technologically advanced suppliers and eliminating the correlation with smaller ones. Ford would make sure that key suppliers have access to forecasting data from customers purchasing trends and production information to enable a faster order to delivery cycle. The difference in the distribution model between Dell and Ford lies in the middle link of using retail shops. Since Ford cannot skip retail as a focal distribution point, it should work on establishing a network of retail shops that it owned. Ford make sure shops are not affecting ... People are used to flipping a switch and turning on lights, or turning on the TV for entertainment, using the microwave, the refrigerator, and our heating system. These would not be possible with out electrical power. How Stock Market Operates Paper Ravipas Chaloenchansa Econ 735 Dec 11th 2014 How Stock Market Operates It is easy to understand why many people lose a lot of money when they invest in stock market, because the process of choosing the stock and investing is confusing. Fortunately, the market itself is not as complicated or confusing as people think. To completely understand the stock market and how it operates, will potentially help an investor to make good investment decision. In some cases, an investor on the big company will be able to receive some of the company s profits called dividend. However, this does not apply to all companies because they want to obtain their high profits in order to be able to pay for future growth; this is called keeping cash in hand. Some investors have preference over another, some are more interested in receiving dividends than in growth of the company. So the choice of investment will entirely depend on your goals. • 18. The Dangers Of Secondhand Smoking We have laws that protect minors from physical abuse, but isn t the damage from secondhand smoking also considered physical abuse? Secondhand smoke is the combination of the smoke exhaled by smokers and the burning end of a cigarette. This smoke is dangerous for children and should not be used in the car with children. Why is Secondhand Smoking Bad for Children? Secondhand smoking cause many defects for children as they grow up. As parents of young children smoke in the car, these children are exposed to this secondhand smoke frequently. According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Secondhand smoke causes numerous health problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infection, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). As these children group up, the health problems resulting from the secondhand smoke exposure affects their lifestyle and future. Children do not deserve to be exposed to such toxic things so young. They are innocent victims to their parents bad habit and life choices. Children are vulnerable and clearly do not know what these chemicals do to their bodies so they are defenseless against the dangers of secondhand smoke. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also states, Secondhand smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, hundreds are toxic and about 70 are known to cause cancer. I believe that it is not okay to for parents to think that exposing children to secondhand smoke is not a problem. This mentality that there is not a problem is the problem with secondhand smoking. I am not asking parents to stop smoking just to take is outside away from childrens developing bodies. Secondhand smoke is dangerous to all passengers in the car. The Americans for Nonsmokers Rights (ANR) argues, Exposing passengers, both children and adults, to secondhand smoke in the confined space of a car is extremely hazardous. This hazard is something that can be avoided, if laws are passed to make smoking with children in the car illegal. The cost of these programs was far greater than the cost of many of the other sports and many argued that because the same amount of money wasn t being spent on females sports, it violated Title IX. The rules for this scenario became lenient because it was impossible to fix the amount of spending that is necessary for certain sports to operate. • 22. Exile And Pain In Three Elegiac Poems Essay There is a great similarity between the three elegiac poems, The Wanderer, The Wife of Lament, and The Seafarer. This similarity is the theme of exile. Exile means separation, or banishment from ones native country, region, or home. During the Anglo Saxon period, exile caused a great amount of pain and grief. The theme is shown to have put great sadness into literature of this time period. The majority of the world s literature from the past contains the theme of exile. The Wife of Lament is another perfect example of literature with exile, and was written by an unknown author. The author continually describes how incredibly miserable he is living his life in exile, how awful it is to have to live without the guidance from a higher rank being a lord and king in this case, how there is no one to talk to and to share ones feelings with, and how there is no money or riches of any kind‚ for a man who is living in exile. For the most part, the poem is sad and depressing and the reader easily sees what this man is going through and how terrible it must be for him to live without all the things many others take for granted everyday of their lives. The author of this poem, who has obviously been exiled, does an exquisite job of showing, maybe even teaching, to the reader how important the things are that you lose in life when exiled, no matter how rich or poor you are. You take the greatest loss of all when you are exiled, you take the loss of losing everything that makes it seem purposeful for you to live out the day you just began. This is obviously the idea the author is trying to get across in this poem. Throughout the poem The Seafarer, also composed by an unknown author, it is obvious that the man is not exiled directly in the ways people have been exiled in the other poems, however being stuck on a ship is in many ways quite similar to being exiled from your homeland. Numerous passages in this poem show this mans painful life at sea. The one that stands out most greatly to me is this passage; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seeing ghosts in any tradition is an omen of something negative. Marcellus directly said, Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (Shakespeare, Act 1, Scene 4). As a tragedy, death is certainly one of the many themes of Hamlet. The ghost, a dead person s soul, tells Hamlet that his father s death was caused by his uncle. By suggesting revenge as a way to fix his father s sins, the ghost s dialogue foreshadows the death of the Claudius. Given the circumstances of the public agreeing to usurp of the throne, Hamlet s unusual behavior, and involvement of outside characters, Hamlet s journey to seek vengeance will include the death of other characters. The ghost acted as the firebrand that initiated a series of deaths by simply suggesting the death of one individual: Claudius. Without much effort, Hamlet is persuaded to avenge his late father and unknowingly take his own life. Marcellus statement ultimately became the truth after the death of both Claudius and Gertrude, Hamlet s mother, and some other uninvolved characters like Ophelia and Polonius. The ghost did not only complicate the entire story of Hamlet, it also developed the theme of revenge and Hamlet s delay of vengeance. Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I. Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth s most powerful emotions. I understand the right of self determination can be stretched to where a person s desires infringe on the rights of others, so I believe everyone has this right until they are harming others. • 34. Character Analysis Of A Jury Of Her Peers The story, A Jury of Her Peers , took place in a time where men were perceived as the more dominant figures. Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters take different approaches to this topic. Mrs. Hale feels belittled and takes offense to this. On the other, this belittlement does not affect Mrs. Peters too much. Mrs. Peters is a soft spoken, gentle womanwho is married to a sheriff. While Mrs. Hale is a strong willed woman from a farmhouse, the gender roles really affect Mrs. Peters decision making a lot. Mrs. Peters does not usually get into too many verbal fights with the men, but Mrs. Hale sometimes does get in a skirmish with them. For example, George Henderson was washing his hands and then he had to wipe his hand with a dirty towel. His immediate perception of Minnie Wright was that she is dirty and not a great house cleaner. Then Mrs. Hale retaliated to this by saying that when one is a farmer s wife, the work is never ending. Mrs. Hale said this because she herself is a farmer s wife. Though Mrs. Peter s is soft spoken and listens to everything her husbandsays, her character develops throughout the story. She starts developing her own opinion. This story is an about undiscovered murder in which three men, including Mrs. Peter s husband, need a certain evidence in order to convict Millie Wright, the women accused of murdering her husband. This was not an uncommon reaction towards David s art at the time. However, the painting was restored to a place of honor by Baudelaire, who wrote : This painting is David s masterpiece and one of the great curiosities of modern art because, by a strange feat, it has nothing trivial or vile. What is most surprising in this very unusual visual poem is that it was painted very quickly. When one thinks of the beauty of the lines, this quickness is bewildering. This is food for the strong, the triumph of spiritualism. David s artwork did not just involve the use of pretty colours. Many of his paintings beared powerfull meanings, historically and politically. Culturally they had a huge impact on social activity during the French Revolution. The story of Brutus was popular with educated sections of the French public during the eighteenth century. Voltaire s play Brutus , was performed on stage from 1730. In November 1790, the first two performances of a revival of Brutus at the National Theater in Paris took place. At the second performance of the revival, a stage tableau of David s painting was acted out at the moment when the death of Brutus son was announced. This domination has resulted in a dependence on men for economic stability and an illusory happiness believed by women. This falsified necessity for a male counterpart has resulted in the destruction of female independence and sexual oppression. First, Blanche is very conscious of her appearance; hiding herself under dim lights and make up, afraid of being judged by men around her. Whoever you are I have always depended on the kindness of strangers (Williams 142), Blanche s need for kindness of strangers refers to her miscellaneous encounters with men in the past to make her feel worthy. She means what she says when she urges them not to notice her (toles). Toles refers to scene 3, where it is evident that Blanche seeks approval from men around her even though they payed no mind to her. Another demonstration of her need for admiration to gain self confidence is this excerpt You haven t said a word about my appearance (Williams 21), where she urged Stanley to notice her to fulfill her desire to feel beautiful. Not only did Blanche believe a male s opinion was almost a necessity, she also believed that they were the only thing that can save her despair. In scene four Blanche states Y know how indifferent I am to money. I think of money in terms of what it does for you but he could do it, he could certainly do it (67) the reader can assume she believes that Shep Huntleigh can pull her and her sister Stella out their poverty. Oil, carbonic acid and plastics are harming the marine environment as well as the wide variety of animals and plants within. Marine pollution is caused by many industrial and domestic activities such as oil spills, garbage dumping, factory waste disposal and the burning of fossil fuels. A few of the main causes in the great barrier reef are oil spills, the burning of fossil fuels and general waste.Fossil fuels affect the reefs by the carbon dioxide from the fossil fuels accumulates in the atmosphere. As carbon dioxide enters the ocean, it reacts with the seawater to form carbonic acid. To assemble a macromolecule polymer from monomers, the monomers must bond. This is a process known as a dehydration reaction, in which a water molecule is lost to form the bond. When this process occurs, each of the two bonded monomers provides part of the water molecule that was lost in the dehydration reaction: one contributes a hydroxyl group and the other a hydrogen. Dehydration reaction can take place over and over again, losing a water molecule every time, and forming a chain of monomers: a macromolecule. These macromolecules are disassembled by hydrolysis. This process is the inverse of a dehydration reaction: the covalent bond between the monomers is broken when water is added, a hydrogen attaching to one monomer and a hydroxyl group attaching to the other. How can you tell a biological molecule is a carbohydrate? Carbohydrates are sugars that contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen in a 1:2:1 ratio. They can be used for storage, structure, and energy. An example is glucose, with chemical formula C6H12O6. Explain the relationship between monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. All three are carbohydrates. Monosaccharides are the simplest carbohydrates and are classified as simple sugars with molecular formulas that are multiples of CH2O. Disaccharides are two monosaccharides bonded by a glycosidic linkage (a covalent bond formed by dehydration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
