My Favorite Quote Analysis
My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another
time will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is
immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite
quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to
Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also
brings me ease as even in another time someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave
a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and
accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly
active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious
cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in
history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered
in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social
activist are just part of a legacy I am starting.
Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of
amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self
love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English
teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school
career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student
who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of
struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her
cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on
the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and
race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about
personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it
allowed me to see that I can

Lab Report On Water Erosion
Erosion is materials such as rock and soil being removed by the force of weathering such as
water, wind, ice etc. Water erosion would be the main focus throughout this lab. Water Erosion
involves rock and soil being removed by any movements of water. An example would be the Grand
Canyon. It began in colorado, but due to colorado river it continue to grow deeper and cut into
Arizona. Water erosionoccurs into anything involving river banks, streams, seashores, and lastly
seaside cliffs. Throughout the year water erosion particularly happens during spring time due to
water showers and creates a great amount of water to create water erosion.
The occurrence of water erosion is divided into 6 different stages. Sheet erosion is lost of soil
between cultivated and uncultivated environments. Cultivate is essential a way to prepare land of
water overflowing. Than Rill erosion is surface water that involves to channelside to concentration
of water. Comes along Gully erosion which is an amount of soil getting removed by water. Splash
erosion will come next which is movement of soil being directly affected by splashing. Bank
erosion come next which is essentially wearing away for rivers and valleys.
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impacts of water erosion on soil due to splashing.
Hyphothesis:
If the height of the water increases than the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed
of water will create more pressure on the soil causing the

My Quinceanera
As a hispanic, I fit in the stereotype that my quinceanera marks my childhood transition to being an
adult, however, that is false, I am not a fan of attention. Getting my first college acceptance letter
was my accomplishment. I am the first person who will break stereotypes, as a proud
undocumented, feisty, high schoolgraduate girl. Realizing this and feeling proud of myself is one
step to transitioning. I may be eighteen, but I am still my parents little girl.. Because I love my
culture and my family, I want to give back to the community that raised me. Graduating high school
will be a well deserved accomplishment and is going to be marvelous. I am breaking barriers. You
will not classify me as a hispanic girl who got pregnant at sixteen or who dropped out for being
lazy. You cannot say I will end up being no one or a housewife. When I first received an acceptance
letter I knew I was going to college, perhaps, not that certain school, but I was going and that is
enough for me. You hear all the time the small talk people make about you, one day I won t fit in
a stereotype, I will be my own thing that people will not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Majoring in Social Work and Pre Law as well as minoring in Latin american studies will help me

Opening my eyes was another step towards my adulthood, knowing not every time will I have an
accomplishment reached, but trying and putting effort to comfort myself will help immensely.
Transitioning from being a child to an adult is frustrating, irritating, stressing, but it also gives you
freedom, courage, and knowledge. This transition has inspired me to give back to my community,
to make my family proud, and too embrace the beautiful culture I am apart of.

Dick Rhodes Book Summary
Dick Rhodes was born in Ulster to a homemaker and a WWII veteran. Before war broke out in
his homeland, he immigrated to Canada. To be an ordinary guy was his plan, to marry, have
children and live a long productive life. Instead, returning home, he became a soldier. By his
side, his buddies fought the war. Years later, after the guns fell silent many were still fighting the
war. A sinister, unseen, evil war called P.T.S.D. During the conflict, in his homeland, from the
Ulster Defense Regiment alone, 197, male and female soldiers have their names inscribed on war
memorials as killed in action. A further 61 Ex soldiers, the terrorists murdered after their service
ended honorably and had resigned from the Regiment. Others remain at risk today, 23 years after
they declared a pseudo peace.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More families destroyed as our heroes wait in line for help. A support that never seems to come.
It s for the warriors and their families Dick wrote this book. His aim in writing the book is not
just to entertain. It s designed to capture the reader s attention, especially those who suffer from
or connected to those with combat related P.T.S.D. To expose the agony of those who relive their
war every day. To show the effects that untreated P.T.S.D. can have on a family. In the end, the
goal is to urge all to get involved, to help bring about change and improved treatment for our
veterans. If each of us would just touch one life, what a wonderful world it could

Commercials Of Kobe Bryant
Did you see that man Kobe Bryant last night? He put the team on his back! This is what
everyone at school was saying during the 2009 NBA finals. At the time I was in the seventh
grade and had no idea what was going on, although it interested me since all my friends knew
about this event. After school that day, I saw a commercial on ESPN advertising all basketball
fans to watch, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakerstake on the Orlando Magic tonight at 6 pm.
The commercial informed me with the following information, it was Game 5 of a 7 game series
and the Lakers were up 3 1 and the Lakers needed to win one more game to become a 16 time
NBA Championship franchise. Kobe Bryant was the team captain who lead his team into the finals

The commercials reeled in my attention and did not give any room for other distractions.
Watching Kobe Bryant s story influenced me to become just like him. Basketball has impacted
me in a positive way in terms of academics because without it, I would have been an average
student just getting by in the class. Before basketball I was nowhere near the smartest student in
my classes and after not making my eighth grade basketball team that motivated me to assign my
education as the highest priority so that I could play basketball. I ended up playing basketball all
four years in high school and averaged a 4.0 academically with perfect attendance. It s a humbling
experience how the conversations at school and the first basketball commercial I watched about the
NBA finals lead me to play a sport that I

Personal Interest
The personal interest is an attitude which consists in pulling the best party of circumstances by
compromising if need with the ethics principles and by acting only in his own interest to the
detriment of others. Any action results from a motivation. If we harm others, it is from a
motivation; and if we help others, it is also from a motivation. We say of an honest and ethical
person that she is made lose interest whereas a interested person is considered as deceitful and
selfish. Nevertheless, he is natural on behalf of each of us, to pursue or to protect his interests. The
interest is necessary for the man. But the interest, it is also the search for what can benefit us and
this can raise an ethical problem. The motivation is neither... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They can be attributed on fixed bases bound to the status or to the age, either on more punctual
bases bound to the results of the made work. Therefore, a manager who uses the system of
rewards in case of good work will always motivate more his team. Indeed, a person who knows that
she will be rewarded is by receiving an increase or by receiving a good grade or still the gratitude of
its superior will always be more motivated to supply a work that somebody who will receive no
reward and no gratitude of its superiors, who will feel so totally useless. It s the same for the
system of punishment, a person who knows that she will be reprimanded if she hurts her work or
break the regulation will always be more motivated to supply a good work and have a good
attitude to avoid a punishment. Especially as the punishment being bound to the reward a person
who is not punishes because done well its work has big chances to be to reward afterward.
However, Weiss and Adler showed that the personality plays a more important role on the
motivation in the low situations, characterized by the freedom left with the subjects to make
personal choices concerning the nature, the direction, the intensity of the efforts and their obstinacy
in the time. Of this fact certain persons can not be susceptible to the system of punishments and
rewards because their moral and ethical values as well as their character and probably education are

Laptop prices hit new low
Summary:
The article Laptop prices hit new lows by Gary McWilliams focuses on the computer industry,

the prices of laptop computers have decrease substantially over the past 5 years.

comprised only of businesspeople. Now, college students demand represents a considerable
percentage of the total demand for laptop computers. While in the past a laptop computer was

With a larger scale of production companies are applying better organizational skills to its
resources, such as straightforward chain of command, and by this the range where the marginal
product is positive would be greatly increased. Similar to improved organization and technique, the
learning processes related to production, selling and distribution result in increased efficiency.
In industries that are capital and research intensive such as the computer industry, efficiency
requires large if not very large scale operation. For such industries, the main source of scale
economies is new product development costs or new, cheaper ways of production costs; spreading
those huge costs over an increased number of units result in increased efficiency and in the end
lower costs for end users/consumers.
AMD and Intel both face tremendous economies of scale. The cost of building the first chip of a
new design may in the billions of dollars, if one includes the cost of building the manufacturing
facility, and the research and development costs. However, the more chips that are produced of a
given design, the lower the average cost.
Another reason for the significantly drop in price can be the adoption of the demand driven or built
to order production system. The direct

The Rights Of Same Sex Couples
Soppho: Have you heard, Socrates, that our government is intending to extend the rights of
marriages to same sex couples? Under that change, gay partners will then be recognized equally as
heterosexual husbands and wives.
Socrates: Yes, but politicians and those in positions of influence have no business to mess with the
standard of God relating to marriage, let alone decide to debate this issue as if it is open for
discussion. Because of the way they are boasted, they don t have a proper perspective on
themselves and where they fit in this life. The standard is clear by the way that men and women
are made, so the coupling of heterosexuals is shown to be divine.

Crazy, right? Road to equality!
Socrates: Here s what you have to understand about bans on interracial marriage: they were
designed to divide the races, and that was and is wrong. Traditional marriage encourages and
supports bringing the genders together, which is good. Ethnicity is not a fundamental merit or
facet of marriage. But gender is. Therefor, including interracial couples does not draw an analogy
for the redefinition of marriage. Interracial, opposite sex couples can still produce biological
children together. Same sex marriage is a redefinition of marriage that s something very different.
Soppho: First, you have some things right (tradition, racism) but fail to provide an example of
when it is ever okay to pass a form of discrimination against gay people. Second, if restricting the
legality of marriage based on race is what you say it is racial discrimination why ban the legal
recognition of a choice of partner on the basis of gender? That would qualify as sex discrimination.
Socrates: Must our jurisdiction then permit the marriage between polygamous parties? If marriage
is redefined so that the sex of spouses is irrelevant, why stop there? It can be further refined so
that even the age and blood relation of the spouses is also irrelevant. If marriage is a fundamental
rights issue, there can be no grounds for saying no to polygamists or non consenting unions.

they could look to Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, Otis Boykin s, Dr. Charles Drew, and George
Washington Carver who invented heart surgery, pace makers, preservation of blood plasma,

First All-American Musical Essay
ArtsCentric Produces their First All African American Musical Photo Credit: Instadoor
With all the news about violence in the city of Chicago, it s a refreshing change for locals to
watch musicals, especially if the story will take you to back to the city of Chicago in the 1920 s.
During this time, there was a huge influx of killings sprees among the residents which is really not
as inspiring as it should be. However, as a musical show, the storyline was presented through a fresh
and entertaining approach.
The show, Chicago, is a 1975 jazz inspired musical by John Kander, Bob Fosse, and Fred Ebb.
Even though the story depicts a cynical approach about the media and celebrity criminal, you ll find
yourself laughing and getting entertained throughout the show.
However, this time, ArtsCentric will offer audiences a new approach by producing their first...

In another scene, sympathetic reporter, Mary Sunshine, played by BJ Daniels, wore a drag as she
sang the bittersweet song Mr. Cellophane with Roxie s husband, Sylvern Jr. As for the rest of the
musical cast, although they were not as strong in terms of their acting abilities, the show s director,
Kevin McAllister and choreographer, Shalyce Hemby, brought everyone s energy up.
Although the theater appears to be a bit crowded, the stage is setup with subtlety amid a band led
by Cedric. Lyles. The production s costumes were planned by McAllister himself which appears
like a late night party at a Victoria Secret show. This show is indeed fun and entertaining.
Having an all black cast makes the production unique and more interesting to watch. Chicago will
run until August 6, 2015, at the Motor House.

Essay about Comparison on Qin and Augustus Caesar
Comparing Augustus and Qin Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi was crowned king in 246 BC during the
Warring States era (475 221 BC). Two centuries later, Caesar Augustus founded the Roman Empire
and became Rome s first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD. Both emperors ruled
with distinct and individual morals in which they laid upon their society. Both rulers utilized
military victories, new code laws, and established a sense of unity throughout the land. Each
contribution to their state and to their civilizations is unique to their own opinion. Qin Shi Huang

He made many economic reforms for his community, such as creating one system of currency
for all of China; this facilitated the different parts of China to become more involved with each
other. Thus, unification. Huangdi also got rid of feudalism, which was a social and economic
system that was prominent for a very long time. This meant if one was in the military in
exchange for their services, the nobility held land for them. This ridding of feudalism had a
great impact over the land because it gave more power to the people of lower social standing
who had always had to work for those above them. Without feudalism, each person in China was
independent and made wealth for themselves. Chinese economy changed as trade increased for a
long while afterwards. He also began the renounced Great Wall of China, which was very useful
later to military campaigns and protection. Also, he built the first roads and bridges for not only
the state, but the land as a whole. Lastly, he began the Qin dynasty, which was the first successful

Research Paper On War On Drugs
The topic I will be discussing is the War on Drugs. I will discuss the War on Drugs in relation to
mass incarceration and to what consequences the War on drugs has caused among people and
society itself. I have always been interested by the War on Drugs. However, slowly realizing, I
only knew so much about the issue. As I further researched I learned what the term, War on Drugs
really means. The War on Drugs is about the prohibition of drugs in society. Therefore, I strongly
believe that the DrugWar is a very controversial issue in our society today. Not only does the Drug
War affect our neighborhoods and society in which we live in, but it also has effects on
incarceration rates and crime, racial disparity, and employment.
We have been fighting the War on Drugs since 1971 when President Richard Nixon declared drug
abuse as public enemy number one after receiving a report from two Congressmen that an
astonishing number of Vietnam veterans were addicted to heroin. The height of the Drug War was
in the late 1980 s and early 1990 s. (Nixon and the Generation Gap). The War on Drugs caused a
significant increase to the United State prison population from the 1980s to the 1990s. U.S. prisons
were filled with about 5.5% of non violent drug offenders in 1980 to about 7.6% in the 1990s
(Benson, Escalating the War on Drugs Causes and Unintended Consequences, p296).
As we know now, the War on Drugs is a very complex issue in our society today. The drug war has

Disadvantages Of Counterfeit Goods
INTRODUCTION
Counterfeit goods are fake imitations and replicas of products carrying a brand name (Phau Teah,
2009). These goods may include luxury brands from the fashion industry, electronics, software and
pharmaceuticals. Usually these products are of a lower quality as compared to the original.
Companies struggle to protect their goods from being copied since their name, logo, ideas and
designs are copied and sold cheaply in the market. This is unethical and illegal (Chaudhry
Stumpf,2011).
Policy makers of countries have come up with various laws that include heavy fines and
imprisonment for this act. However, these are limited to the supply side of the problem, which
would include the producers, distributers, and marketers of counterfeit goods (Fernandes, 2013).
This problem has grown over 10,000 percent in the past 20 years, partly due to an increase in
consumer demand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some consumers purchase counterfeit luxury brands for their social adjustive function (e.g. to
express themselves and/or to fit in) (Wilcox, Kim Sen, 2009). If the social group the consumer
desires to be a part of, disapproves of such consumption, the perceived social risk involved in the
purchase of counterfeit product reduces consumer intention to purchase counterfeits. Consumers
might refrain from using such goods because they might be afraid of the embarrassment they will
have to face if it is detected that their belonging is not original (Chaudhry Stumpf, 2011). Here, the
consumption or purchase of the counterfeit will cause the individual to lose social capital from
peers or society. When risk is activated consumers are more motivated to avoid negative
consequences than to maximize utility (Mandel, 2003). However, Sinha and Mandel (2008) found
that rising social risks and/or consequences of such utilization may not work for consumers who
have high tolerance for risk (i.e. high optimal stimulation

April 14th 2015 Final Exam: Question 5 The unprecedented economic progress of a handful of
East Asian economies were able to achieve in three decades, from1960 s to the 1980 s sparked the
curiosity of the world as to how such an astounding feat occurred. After the Second World War,
countries from both East Asia and Latin America began to industrialize and competed vigorously in
the world market, however it is worthy to note that Latin American had several advantages from the
very beginning. These include higher per capita income, higher level of industrialization, higher
saving rates, higher education levels. Many of these East Asian countries/regions have just gained
their independence (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia) and are
recovering from war, in particular Japan and South Korea. Yet in the 1980 s East Asian
economies developed at a much faster pace while economic growth in Latin America was stagnant
and failed to live up to its potential. This paper will address the differences in economic strategies
employed, explore why Latin America failed while East Asian economies achieved remarkable
progress, and if there are any worthwhile lessons that current emerging economies can if possible
emulate the kind of success achieved by newly industrialized countries (NICs).

ADPIE stands for assessment, diagnosis, patient plan, implementation and evaluation of the
implementations. It was a very structured approach that has to be completed in the SBAR or

creative approach allowed. Spiritualty was never part of any aspect of the process. There were
times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for
adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section.
For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I

Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal
The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also
known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of
Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that
mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so
dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to
these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive
way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical
facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the
growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for
a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal
consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the
kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive
children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add
to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest
interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public
good of his country,

Sociocultural Theory in Early Childhood Development Essay
Sociocultural is defined as relating to, or involving a combination of social (relating to human
society) and cultural (taste in art and manners that are favored by a social group) factors.
(Socialcultural , 2010) You might ask why we are defining these words. It gives a better
understanding of Vygotsky beliefs that children seek out adults for interaction, beginning at birth,
and that development occurs through these interactions. (Morrison, 2009 sec 14.6) I agree that his
theory is the best process for learning. Many people feel that social interaction and learning begin at
birth, but there have been research conducted that fetus can learn through parental interaction.

through social interaction no matter what it is. They are taught by example, by getting help with
the task and are expected to be able to complete it by themselves. With this concept of learning
every child is able to learn and evolve into completing activities independently and progressively
from what they have learned. It is important that the environment for the child be set with ideas and

Children are taught to mimic things like sounds and action; by mimicking this will help teachers

Essay On Irish Imperialism
Until the 19th century European society was based upon single individuals and dynasties of
families. The nucleus of a group revolved around the centralized power of monarchs with no real
sense of national ties. Although communities claimed similar ethnicities and religious beliefs the
unity of this was limited by miniscule differences. Countries were greatly divided by this schism,
Protestants deeply mistrusted Catholics, Saxon and Hessen Germans were old rivals and French
forcible conquests of foreign monarchies created territorial tension. Activities like these created
great internal strife of civil wars and rebellions; it was not until the French Revolution that the
enlightenment idea of a state truly began to unite countries under a singular idea of the nation. No
longer was centralism based upon traditional ideas of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following nearly 600 years of varying English rule the Irish people in the late 1800s experienced a
voracious onset of nationalist sentiment, influenced by European enlightenment thinkers. The Irish
under an initially moderate national leadership pushed for the policy of home rule, which would
grant the Irish autonomy, self rule and economic freedom in return for maintaining their position
within the United Kingdom. The home rule issue would dominate Irish politics for nearly 50 years
until 1919, when extremist nationals would attain control of local governments and officially
declare the Irish Republic (Campbell 624 630.) The Irish revolution is commonly attributed to pre
nationalistic revolutionary ideas of intolerance, economic propensity towards independence and
foreign oppressment creating unity, this is a misplaced assumption though as the war and preceding

Amphipathicity In Negatively Charged Membranes
As previously suggested, AMPs can partition themselves into the lipid rich areas of biomembranes
and disrupt the proper functioning of bacterial lipids regulating cell division. Hydrophobicity is an
important factor that determines the extent to which an AMP can distribute itself among
membrane lipids. The percentage of hydrophobic residues in a peptide is termed hydrophobicity.
It is usually at 50% for most peptides. [1] However, highly hydrophobic peptides can prove to be
toxic to the cell, therefore AMPs must be moderately toxic to be able to show antimicrobial activity
while at the same time have minimal effect on mammalian cells. [1]
The relative abundance and distribution of hydrophobic and hydrophilic residues in a peptide is

Antibiotic resistant pathogens have evolved various mechanisms to evade antibiotic action. These
include preventing the antibiotic from binding or entering it, modifying the binding site of the
antibiotic or producing an enzyme that deactivates the antibiotic. Therefore it has become crucial to
be able to design new antimicrobial substances that can overcome these existing antibiotic resistant
pathogens. [3]
Such an antimicrobial agent should be highly target specific, making them non toxic towards
mammalian cells. This is not very difficult to achieve since there are significant differences between
mammalian and microbial cells based on structural features, membrane charge and composition,
transmembrane potential etc. as discussed above.
Due to their ability to permealibilize microbial membranes, AMPs have the potential to act
synergistically by facilitating the passage of antibiotics across the microbial membranes.
Moreover, it is difficult for microbial cells to develop resistance towards AMPs. This is possibly
due to the fact that AMPs attack the entire cytoplasm as well as intracellular molecules, and kill
bacterial cells very quickly using several complex mechanisms.

European Development Between The 5th And The 15th Century
Between the 5th and the 15th century, European development had dramatically changed. The
middle ages had sparked political, social, and economic growth. It created the foundation and
change in European development that can still be seen in this day and age. Economic growth was
greatly impacted by the influences of different nations and city states interactions. Expansion had
grown tremendously as people started spreading out throughout Europe. People were able to go into
craftsmanship and sell other good besides food. One major foundation that changed lives forever
was the domestication of plants and animals. This lead to people being able to control their
environment around them and create agriculture surplus through advances like crop rotation.

Oral Hygiene And Oral Health
The oral cavity is more often than not viewed as a separate entity than the rest of the body. This is
a mistake due to the overriding effect the mouth has on the rest of the body. This view needs to
cease immediately due to the fact that oral health affects what people eat, their quality of life, and
their speech.1 Oral health also plays an important role with chronic diseases. Unfortunately, oral
health has not been a priority among many healthcare professionals, and this has lead to millions of

Oral health affects people not just physically but also psychologically and it really influences

U.S and Vietnamese Military and Political leaders
U.S military and political relations with Vietnam today help think about why the U.S supported
South Vietnam and participated in the Vietnam War and how the relationship turned into the way it
is today. The VietnamWar started on November 1, 1955 and lasted until April 30, 1975. This war
involved many significant leaders such as Richard Nixon, Lyndon B Johnson, John F Kennedy, Ho
Chi Minh and many others. North Vietnam leaders had a great impact on the war by organizing
many guerrillas and offensives while the South Vietnam leaders were fighting against themselves.
However, the U.S took a more forceful approach to the war by sending in troops and engaging in
nuclear warfare.
The most prominent North Vietnam leaders were Nguyen Giap and Ho Chi Minh and their
contributions has a substantial effect on the Vietnam War. Giap was the Commander in Chief of
the North Vietnam Army and is considered as one of the greatest commanders in history. Giap
was directly involved in many important campaigns during the Vietnam War such as the Tet

Packaging And Labelling Are Two Important Aspects Of...
Introduction:
Packaging and Labelling are two very important aspects of modern marketing, which puts a
significant effect on the success of the business. Labelling is considered as a wrapper or container
of the product whereas a part of the printed or written note that is put on the package is considered
as the label.
Colourful paper labels, the first form of commercial art was first brought forward by a European
artist. It is both used as a product identifier and an eye catcher for the consumers since 1880.This
art, which later became a profession of lithography, was used on packaging cases of fruits, boxes
of cigars and on cans of vegetables. The world s first self adhesive labels was established by an
entrepreneur, R.Stanton Avery and it turned to a very profitable business.
In the recent days, all sorts of companies takes huge interest in packaging and labelling their
products, keeping their targeted customers on mind and these have now become a very successful
business entity. Nevertheless, these have to be continuously innovated and recreated to keep the
mass consumers attracted towards the product. Packaging and labelling help marketing the product
in a numerous ways and thus through these the companies can reach the targeted consumers,
ultimately making a strong place in the retail market. Still, the Australian market of packaging and
labelling is comparatively minor in terms of international standards.

Voltaire s Criticism of Enlightened Beliefs
Through The Eyes of Candide
Voltaire, one the Enlightenment s greatest leaders was well known for his use of satire to expose
and criticize vices of the 18th century. Through his writing, Voltairesuccessfully uses irony and
parody as a means to satirize what he believes is wrong with 18th century life. In his novel Candide,
Voltaire focuses on many topics, specifically the pitfalls and dangers of optimism, the hypocrisy of
the Catholic Church, and political injustice. Although humorous, the irony and parody that exists in
the novel serve the purpose of exposing the Enlightenment s widely accepted views of political,
philosophical, and religious practices through the eyes of Candide.
Voltaire had an appreciation for the more liberal and free societies which he witnessed in Britain.
He believed that the political system in France was corrupt and favored the aristocracy while
undermining commoner s rights. In Candide, Voltaire parodies the Enlightenment s magnificent
view of lords as he describes the Baron of Westphalia:
The Baron was one of the most powerful lords in Westphalia, for his castle had not only a gate, but
even windows, and his great hall was hung with tapestry. He used to hunt with his mastiffs and
spaniels instead of greyhounds; his groom served him for huntsman; and the parson of the parish
officiated as his grand almoner. They called

Feminism In For Colored Girls
Many people of many genders identify as a feminist, most will say that they believe in equal
rights for men and women, and some can tell you about the three waves of feminism. For
women of color however, feminism can tend to be a double edge sword. Many black women and
women of color were forced to choose their cause. Would they fight for their rights as a person of
color, or would they march for their rights as a woman? In circles of color, men would often
expect women to abandon their fight as a woman to support men of color. And In circles of women,
white women were the dominant voice and their brand of feminismonly seemed to further the
white women s agenda. It is important when speaking of feminism, we speak about a more
critical, inclusive and diverse branch of feminism. The film that I will be applying feminism
and black feminism to will be For Colored Girls (Perry, Tyler 2010). I will be discussing in which
areas feminism applies and where it does not in For Colored Girls. Feminism is typically defined
as the movement for women to have equal rights as men. Deeper than that however, feminism is a
movement that addresses institutional, social and internalized sexism. This includes issues from
the wage gap, rape culture, and gender roles. Mainstream feminism has three different waves, that
include, women s fight for the right to vote, a broader expansion of equality in the workplace and
for reproductive rights, and finally the wave we are currently in The micro

Database Management System ( Dbms )
2. What is a DBMS? Briefly describe the components of a DBMS.
Database Management System(DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data (database) and set of
programs to access and modify those data.
DBMS has several components. Each component has some specific task to perform. The Major
components DBMS are as follows,
Hardware
Without hardware it is not possible to implement DBMS. The main hardware is the computer used
for storing and accessing the data in database. Other hardware components used in DBMS are
Storage devices, I/O devices, and electromechanical devices which makes interface between user
and the database.

End Users
The real users who the application programs to interact with the database to perform different
operations stored in the database. Some of the operations are insertion, deletion, updating data in
the database, etc.
Query processor
It converts the user queries into series of low level instructions. The query processor has the
following components,
i. DDL interpreter:
It interprets DDL statements and records definitions in the data dictionary. ii. DML compiler:
It translates DML statements in the query language into an evaluation plan consisting of low level
instructions. iii. Query evaluation engine:
It executes low level instructions (query evaluation plan).
Data
Data is the most important component of the DBMS. The main purpose of DBMS is to process
the data in efficient and convenient way for the users. In DBMS, databases are defined,
constructed, modified , inserted and accessed from the database. There are two types of data in the
DBMS. They are
i. Meta data:
It is the data about data or description about data stored in the database. Data definition
language(DDL) is used to manipulate this type of data. ii. Actual data:
This is data actually stored in the database by the users. Data manipulation language(DML) is used
to manipulate this type of data.

World War II raged around the world, but the people of London faced it on their doorsteps. The

The Absentee Father
In today s society, it is common for family units to be missing a member that was once the
backbone of American families. This member was the person who financially supported and
provided for the remainder of the family, while also upholding the moral and religious values that
the family would abide by. This absent figure is most commonly known as the father. Statistics
show that an estimated 24.7 million children (33%) live absent their biological father ( The

fatherless. This startling fact reigns prevalent all throughout the American nation. For the father to

which tie back to the evolution of economics in America. As the role of women in society has
changed, it has also caused the role of men to shift. Between 1948 and 2001, the amount of
working women approximately doubled in size, growing from under 33% to more than 60% ( The

My Love Song
It is incredible that you can make such a jazzy and fun song and put a dark and depressing twist
on it by just controlling the lyrics. I love all kind of music and when I mean all kind, I really
mean all kind. The reason for why I listen to a song can vary depending on the situation, mood, etc.
For this particular song, I was introduced to this song by my friend showing me the song while we
were just hanging out and she thoughtthat I would love the song. And the thingis that I did love the
song and decided to put the song on repeat for the rest of the week. At first, I enjoyed it for the
beat and the overall tone of the song. One random day, it was completely silence, and all I was
doing was riding the bus to go to school. In that moment, my brain was only focused on the
lyrics, and noticed that this song lyrically does not match the tone that the musician created. The
song was created by the band, Foster the People , and the song was called Pumped Up Kicks .
To summarize the song, it is about a child named Robert that wants to cause violence towards his

Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression
Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is
oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant
group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does
it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the
simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there
are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive
idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects
both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the
concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no
group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when
rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the
simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction.
Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal
oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly
counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of
oppression is largely

The United States Health Care System Essay
The United States health care system is lacking the needs to create a reliable system to achieve
quality, access, cost, and educate for the consumers. Despite the efforts of the government to find
a common ground to meet the standard for the societies, the system has yet to have a major
improvement. These issues must be reexamined to fix the broken system. The United States
health care expenditure is another issue that needs to be addressed to achieve the future goals of
the healthcare system in the United States. Healthcare societies will need to interact differently
by incorporating consumer s empowerment, technology, and education to meet the future goals
of the health care system. Also, the consumer must be highly educated on the purpose of
preventive care to lower the risk of chronic diseases which account for a lot health care spending.
The process of correcting the United States health care system will take time and effort from all

system? Unfortunately, we will never achieve what is considered the perfect health care system
because we don t proceed perfection as the same. Some may believe that a blue sky with a hint of

The Effects Of Military Involvement On U.s.
Introduction
Since the need has been established to justly acknowledge the requisite to take into account
preparations and responses to hazards and the correlational effects, the realization of governmental
assistance became apparent. Due to the ever demanding scenarios, and the requirement of
specialized skill and personnel, the United States Military would ultimately play a role during such
occurrences on United States soil. Although there are Federal, State, and local authorities whom
have a primary purpose of planning for such events, the need of additional assistance during certain
situations is inevitable.
Until certain pieces of legislation were formed, the authorized scope of military involvement on
U.S. soil in a post disaster area was somewhat obscure. Situations as such created issues regarding
personnel, equipment, regulation, and the ever present issue of monetary cost and reimbursement.
Once FEMA was legally formed into a federal entity, these issues could be more accurately
accounted for with such pieces of legislation and regulations as the Stafford Act, the Immediate
Response Authority, Defense Support to Civil Authorities, and although put into law decades
before the previously noted, the Posse Comitatus Act. All of these alterations were tested out in the
field, ultimately showing several complications and alterations that were necessary to respond and
recover in a more effective manner.
Although controversy exists, generally Military assistance comes

Mesopotamian And Hellenistic Art
In History, artistic achievements have represented cultural advancements in civilized society. The
artist s ability to express themselves on a surface plane has progressed immensely from the
prehistoric era through the present. At one time, techniques were so primitive, simple handheld
figures and tools were all artisans had the ability to craft. However, Mesopotamian and Greek and
Hellenistic Art specifically, modernized the techniques and boundaries of sculpture and figurative
art. As time goes on, an artist s ability to express themselves within their art has progressed. Artists
possess the ability to express personal beliefs through depictions, of which are so detailed many art
historians interpret their meanings similarly. Historically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides the past as a claim for complex art impling cultural prominence in societies, the present
is a great representation of a society s cultural qualities. The United States population s ability to
express themselves has grown the most in recent decades. Specifically in art, one can express
themselves however they want, no: restrictions, limitations, or necessary guidelines. This
capability to express one s self is comparable to our cultures recent stressed activism for the
freedom to act without criticism. Artist s role now, is to be as personal, unique, and creative as
possible. Our society is going through a change of cultural acceptance for those who feel
oppressed. Art is currently about being creative and expressing emotions or ideas through a surface
plane medium. However, it always was not this way. Artists and their art world, from century to
century, responds to their societies attributes. Because of this, past cultures prominence can be
interpreted and represented through their art. Recalling the oldest known art periods, first, the
Prehistoric Art era, we can see societies from b.c. through 2500 b.c., that their cultures were
advanced. From personal representations of nature and deities, these people s small ability to
create different types of art shows how they were more skilled craftsman, instead of artists. Cave
Paintings and other art forms represent their hunting and living styles. For example, the Women
from Willendorf, can show how they expressed themselves through art but, art was not considered
to be a profession in the Prehistoric Art era

No Real Hero In Maus II
The Impact Of Past Events On The Present: No Real Hero in Maus Maus I and Maus II are
graphic novels written by Art Spiegelman which both make up a good story as well as attempt to
understand the human condition, sort it out and put it in its place. Lynda Barry, the author of One
Hundred Demons suggests that literature helps us to cope as if looking at our demons is a way to
get to know them, to befriend them and even master them. The story explores the nature of guilt,
while exploring traumatic events of the Holocaust through a survivor. This graphic novelalso
explores the impact of the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of people who were born after it
ended. Once reading MausI and Maus II, it becomes evident to the reader that there is no real hero
in this story due to the existing impact of past events on the present. In order to fully understand

This volume also includes Artie s personal difficulties in dealing with the publicity he has gotten
from the publication of Maus I. In Maus II, Artie sees Pavel, a Czech Jew who is also a survivor
of Auschwitz. Artie discusses with Pavel the dilemmas he faces as the child of a Holocaust
survivor attempting to write about his father s experiences. This volume comes to an end when
the Nazi war ends, and Vladek and other prisoners are able to escape and make their way to
Poland. German soldiers and Poles continued to murder the Jews but Vladek hid out in various
locations until American soldiers arrived to protect him and the others in hiding. On the last few
pages, Artie discovers that his father has suffered another heart attack, and Mala has returned to

Working With Client Reflection
In participating in this experiment, it provided me hands on experience in dealing with a client.
In the process of working with my client, I frequently found myself very comfortable with the
process; this may have been mainly due to how cooperative my client Scott was. Although it was
very comfortable with him, I did find myself on occasion not knowing what say when he asked
questions, but I did my best to answer what I could and made it known that I did not know the
answer, but was willing to do some outside research. One of the first questions I can remember
Scott asking me was, what is the difference between each fruitand vegetables and what do they
offer in terms of vitamins and minerals. I did not know how to respond to this, so I replied... Show

His response was he appreciated how welcoming I was and how comfortable I made him feel.
Some other positive feedback he gave was; my honesty to questions I did not know about, he felt
that I was very knowledgeable, approachable, honest, reliable, and very people oriented. I also think
I did well at communication and getting the client to talk about sensitive information. Getting
people to feel comfortable is the first step to establishing rapport with your client. With that rapport
comes trust and understanding ultimately leading to more vulnerability and trust between the
dietitian and client. Another strength I think is important is approachability, if your client does not
feel comfortable talking to you and reaching out in times of need, then you won t be able to
establish a rapport outside a clinical setting.
During the second protocol, I noticed that I was good at suggesting alternatives foods and
ingredients in meal. When it comes to assessing your clients eating habits, finding ways and using
tactics to modify already existing diets, especially in case when dealing with diverse cultures and
ethnicities is very important. An example I mentioned to Scott during out appointments was
discussing portion sizes. During times when Scott would eat

Essay on Discovering Further Links between Language and Music
Arguably, language is the one thing that sets humans apart from animals. The capacity to share
thoughts and ideas through the spoken word allows humans to function as a group, enabling
humanity to function as an entity greater than the sum of its separate individuals. Music shares
similar properties, as it is also transmitted and perceived through sound. Both have the potential to
connect people and are innate properties of the human being. The aim of this paper is to discover
further links between the two based on empirical evidence. The main sources that will be consulted
are articles produced by Dr. Aniruddh Patel, a pioneer in the field of musicpsychology, with works
ranging from music cognition to rhythmperception.

It is widely acknowledged by linguists that British English represents stress timed language,
whereas French represents syllable timed language. To detail the exact difference between the
two, stress timed languages have equal duration between stresses, while syllable timed languages
show equal duration between syllable onsets (Patel Daniele, 2003, p. 36). With this basic piece of
background information, Patel Daniele hypothesizes that syllable timed languages have greater
variability in the duration of its vowels as opposed to syllable timed languages. Intuitively, this
makes sense since the temporal distance between syllables is smaller compared to the distance
between the various points of stresses made in speech, which can span multiple syllables and
words. This logic gave birth to the normalized Pairwise Variability Index measure of speech rhythm
or simply, nPVI.
As the term pairwise suggests, the nPVI takes the length between each pair of adjacent events in
time, and calculates how much variability there is among the various duration of vowels compared
to the average duration over the entire series of events. The main strength of the nPVI measure lies
in the fact that it is a relative measure of events that take place over time, allowing one to take an
nPVI value for both music and language and selectively measure the variability of speech rhythm
and musical rhythm within the same

Juxtaposition In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood and the Death Penalty Is the killing of certain people morally acceptable? In his
novel, In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written
by Truman Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas.
Capote details both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder.
In this novel Capoteargues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor,
juxtaposition, and. In the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the
resulting deaths. He writes At the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun
blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because
it shows the contrast of the sleeping town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time.
Capote uses this juxtaposition, not only to detail the nature of the crime, but also to make a subtle
argument about the case. After finding out that the Clutters have been murdered, the community is
shocked and horrified. They cannot sleep at night because of the fear that the... Show more content

addition, by comparing it to a jack o lantern, Capote paints a picture in the reader s mind of the
eerie glow coming from the warehouse, and the metaphorical fire found within. This comparison
shows the reader the fear that the inmates feel and makes the reader feel bad for the people waiting
to die. If the reader does feel bad for the inmates, it strengthens Capote s argument against the death

France s Long History Boundaries
Europe s long history greatly affected the world s structure today in a multitude of ways. How did
countries such as England and France establish their borders along the continent? Modern
boundaries affected the world in numerous ways. The extensive Hundred Years War raged from
1337 to 1453 and played a key role in solidifying borders in Europe(Hundred Years War np).
Conflict over the throne of France ignited a bitter war between England and France when English
kings claimed their right to the French throne (Curry 3). Several significant battles during the war
included The Battle of Crecy, The Battle of Poitiers, The Battle of Agincourt, and The Battle of
Castillon. Arise of new technology changed warfare such as the usage of cannons that... Show more

There were breaks in the war that lasted for long periods of time, however, the issue of the
monarchy of France still remained (Hundred Years War np). Another skillfully fought battle that
occurred years later was the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 which resulted in another victory for the
English (Curry 10). England s king, Henry V, intended to conquer more French land and capture
the throne as the rightful king just as previous kings had done. The French army s heavy armor,
cavalry, and overconfidence had led to their downfall in this battle, even though they outnumbered
the English army (Curry 10). If the army had instead used their numbers more efficiently to
overpower the English and advance their style of warfare, then the results would have been
different. As stated in Battle of Agincourt , The English stood their ground as French knights,
weighed down by their heavy armor, began a slow advance across the muddy battlefield. The
French were met by a furious bombardment of artillery from the English archers (Battle of
Agincourt np). A slow army would be easy to target and dwindle their numbers because the
English archers could halt a cavalry charge from a distance. It was a time of change for the English
and their army while the French army still used the feudal system of knights in this battle.
Evidently, the feudal system was becoming obsolete as a result in the disadvantages it presented.
Without England s advancement, the smaller army most likely would have not been able to capture
more duchies of France. Possibly, the French army might have stopped the war entirely earlier on.
Instead, the French stubbornly held onto traditional style of warfare that cost them battles against
modern warfare tactics and the Hundred Years War

  • 2. My Favorite Quote Analysis My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another time will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting. Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Lab Report On Water Erosion Erosion is materials such as rock and soil being removed by the force of weathering such as water, wind, ice etc. Water erosion would be the main focus throughout this lab. Water Erosion involves rock and soil being removed by any movements of water. An example would be the Grand Canyon. It began in colorado, but due to colorado river it continue to grow deeper and cut into Arizona. Water erosionoccurs into anything involving river banks, streams, seashores, and lastly seaside cliffs. Throughout the year water erosion particularly happens during spring time due to water showers and creates a great amount of water to create water erosion. The occurrence of water erosion is divided into 6 different stages. Sheet erosion is lost of soil between cultivated and uncultivated environments. Cultivate is essential a way to prepare land of water overflowing. Than Rill erosion is surface water that involves to channelside to concentration of water. Comes along Gully erosion which is an amount of soil getting removed by water. Splash erosion will come next which is movement of soil being directly affected by splashing. Bank erosion come next which is essentially wearing away for rivers and valleys. Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impacts of water erosion on soil due to splashing. Hyphothesis: If the height of the water increases than the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of water will create more pressure on the soil causing the ... • 4. My Quinceanera As a hispanic, I fit in the stereotype that my quinceanera marks my childhood transition to being an adult, however, that is false, I am not a fan of attention. Getting my first college acceptance letter was my accomplishment. I am the first person who will break stereotypes, as a proud undocumented, feisty, high schoolgraduate girl. Realizing this and feeling proud of myself is one step to transitioning. I may be eighteen, but I am still my parents little girl.. Because I love my culture and my family, I want to give back to the community that raised me. Graduating high school will be a well deserved accomplishment and is going to be marvelous. I am breaking barriers. You will not classify me as a hispanic girl who got pregnant at sixteen or who dropped out for being lazy. You cannot say I will end up being no one or a housewife. When I first received an acceptance letter I knew I was going to college, perhaps, not that certain school, but I was going and that is enough for me. To be an ordinary guy was his plan, to marry, have children and live a long productive life. Instead, returning home, he became a soldier. By his side, his buddies fought the war. Years later, after the guns fell silent many were still fighting the war. A sinister, unseen, evil war called P.T.S.D. To show the effects that untreated P.T.S.D. can have on a family. In the end, the goal is to urge all to get involved, to help bring about change and improved treatment for our veterans. • 6. Commercials Of Kobe Bryant Did you see that man Kobe Bryant last night? He put the team on his back! This is what everyone at school was saying during the 2009 NBA finals. At the time I was in the seventh grade and had no idea what was going on, although it interested me since all my friends knew about this event. After school that day, I saw a commercial on ESPN advertising all basketball fans to watch, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakerstake on the Orlando Magic tonight at 6 pm. The commercial informed me with the following information, it was Game 5 of a 7 game series and the Lakers were up 3 1 and the Lakers needed to win one more game to become a 16 time NBA Championship franchise. Basketball has impacted me in a positive way in terms of academics because without it, I would have been an average student just getting by in the class. Before basketball I was nowhere near the smartest student in my classes and after not making my eighth grade basketball team that motivated me to assign my education as the highest priority so that I could play basketball. I ended up playing basketball all four years in high school and averaged a 4.0 academically with perfect attendance. Personal Interest The personal interest is an attitude which consists in pulling the best party of circumstances by compromising if need with the ethics principles and by acting only in his own interest to the detriment of others. Any action results from a motivation. If we harm others, it is from a motivation; and if we help others, it is also from a motivation. We say of an honest and ethical person that she is made lose interest whereas a interested person is considered as deceitful and selfish. Nevertheless, he is natural on behalf of each of us, to pursue or to protect his interests. The interest is necessary for the man. Therefore, a manager who uses the system of rewards in case of good work will always motivate more his team. Indeed, a person who knows that she will be rewarded is by receiving an increase or by receiving a good grade or still the gratitude of its superior will always be more motivated to supply a work that somebody who will receive no reward and no gratitude of its superiors, who will feel so totally useless. It s the same for the system of punishment, a person who knows that she will be reprimanded if she hurts her work or break the regulation will always be more motivated to supply a good work and have a good attitude to avoid a punishment. Especially as the punishment being bound to the reward a person who is not punishes because done well its work has big chances to be to reward afterward. However, Weiss and Adler showed that the personality plays a more important role on the motivation in the low situations, characterized by the freedom left with the subjects to make personal choices concerning the nature, the direction, the intensity of the efforts and their obstinacy in the time. With a larger scale of production companies are applying better organizational skills to its resources, such as straightforward chain of command, and by this the range where the marginal product is positive would be greatly increased. Similar to improved organization and technique, the learning processes related to production, selling and distribution result in increased efficiency. In industries that are capital and research intensive such as the computer industry, efficiency requires large if not very large scale operation. For such industries, the main source of scale economies is new product development costs or new, cheaper ways of production costs; spreading those huge costs over an increased number of units result in increased efficiency and in the end lower costs for end users/consumers. AMD and Intel both face tremendous economies of scale. The cost of building the first chip of a new design may in the billions of dollars, if one includes the cost of building the manufacturing facility, and the research and development costs. However, the more chips that are produced of a given design, the lower the average cost. • 9. The Rights Of Same Sex Couples Soppho: Have you heard, Socrates, that our government is intending to extend the rights of marriages to same sex couples? Under that change, gay partners will then be recognized equally as heterosexual husbands and wives. Socrates: Yes, but politicians and those in positions of influence have no business to mess with the standard of God relating to marriage, let alone decide to debate this issue as if it is open for discussion. Because of the way they are boasted, they don t have a proper perspective on themselves and where they fit in this life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crazy, right? Road to equality! Socrates: Here s what you have to understand about bans on interracial marriage: they were designed to divide the races, and that was and is wrong. Traditional marriage encourages and supports bringing the genders together, which is good. Ethnicity is not a fundamental merit or facet of marriage. But gender is. Therefor, including interracial couples does not draw an analogy for the redefinition of marriage. Interracial, opposite sex couples can still produce biological children together. Same sex marriage is a redefinition of marriage that s something very different. Soppho: First, you have some things right (tradition, racism) but fail to provide an example of when it is ever okay to pass a form of discrimination against gay people. Second, if restricting the legality of marriage based on race is what you say it is racial discrimination why ban the legal recognition of a choice of partner on the basis of gender? That would qualify as sex discrimination. Socrates: Must our jurisdiction then permit the marriage between polygamous parties? If marriage is redefined so that the sex of spouses is irrelevant, why stop there? It can be further refined so that even the age and blood relation of the spouses is also irrelevant. If marriage is a fundamental rights issue, there can be no grounds for saying no to polygamists or non consenting unions. Soppho: Setting aside how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Essay about Comparison on Qin and Augustus Caesar Comparing Augustus and Qin Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi was crowned king in 246 BC during the Warring States era (475 221 BC). Two centuries later, Caesar Augustus founded the Roman Empire and became Rome s first Emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in 14 AD. Both emperors ruled with distinct and individual morals in which they laid upon their society. Both rulers utilized military victories, new code laws, and established a sense of unity throughout the land. He made many economic reforms for his community, such as creating one system of currency for all of China; this facilitated the different parts of China to become more involved with each other. Thus, unification. Huangdi also got rid of feudalism, which was a social and economic system that was prominent for a very long time. This meant if one was in the military in exchange for their services, the nobility held land for them. This ridding of feudalism had a great impact over the land because it gave more power to the people of lower social standing who had always had to work for those above them. Without feudalism, each person in China was independent and made wealth for themselves. Chinese economy changed as trade increased for a long while afterwards. • 13. Research Paper On War On Drugs The topic I will be discussing is the War on Drugs. I will discuss the War on Drugs in relation to mass incarceration and to what consequences the War on drugs has caused among people and society itself. I have always been interested by the War on Drugs. However, slowly realizing, I only knew so much about the issue. As I further researched I learned what the term, War on Drugs really means. The War on Drugs is about the prohibition of drugs in society. Therefore, I strongly believe that the DrugWar is a very controversial issue in our society today. Not only does the Drug War affect our neighborhoods and society in which we live in, but it also has effects on incarceration rates and crime, racial disparity, and employment. We have been fighting the War on Drugs since 1971 when President Richard Nixon declared drug abuse as public enemy number one after receiving a report from two Congressmen that an astonishing number of Vietnam veterans were addicted to heroin. The height of the Drug War was in the late 1980 s and early 1990 s. (Nixon and the Generation Gap). The War on Drugs caused a significant increase to the United State prison population from the 1980s to the 1990s. U.S. prisons were filled with about 5.5% of non violent drug offenders in 1980 to about 7.6% in the 1990s (Benson, Escalating the War on Drugs Causes and Unintended Consequences, p296). As we know now, the War on Drugs is a very complex issue in our society today. The drug war has its very own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Disadvantages Of Counterfeit Goods INTRODUCTION Counterfeit goods are fake imitations and replicas of products carrying a brand name (Phau Teah, 2009). These goods may include luxury brands from the fashion industry, electronics, software and pharmaceuticals. Usually these products are of a lower quality as compared to the original. Companies struggle to protect their goods from being copied since their name, logo, ideas and designs are copied and sold cheaply in the market. This is unethical and illegal (Chaudhry Stumpf,2011). Policy makers of countries have come up with various laws that include heavy fines and imprisonment for this act. However, these are limited to the supply side of the problem, which would include the producers, distributers, and marketers of counterfeit goods (Fernandes, 2013). This problem has grown over 10,000 percent in the past 20 years, partly due to an increase in consumer demand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some consumers purchase counterfeit luxury brands for their social adjustive function (e.g. to express themselves and/or to fit in) (Wilcox, Kim Sen, 2009). If the social group the consumer desires to be a part of, disapproves of such consumption, the perceived social risk involved in the purchase of counterfeit product reduces consumer intention to purchase counterfeits. Consumers might refrain from using such goods because they might be afraid of the embarrassment they will have to face if it is detected that their belonging is not original (Chaudhry Stumpf, 2011). Here, the consumption or purchase of the counterfeit will cause the individual to lose social capital from peers or society. When risk is activated consumers are more motivated to avoid negative consequences than to maximize utility (Mandel, 2003). However, Sinha and Mandel (2008) found that rising social risks and/or consequences of such utilization may not work for consumers who have high tolerance for risk (i.e. high optimal stimulation ... The Economic Progress Of Latin America Richard Wong Professor Sanjay Peters EMPA U6560 April 14th 2015 Final Exam: Question 5 The unprecedented economic progress of a handful of East Asian economies were able to achieve in three decades, from1960 s to the 1980 s sparked the curiosity of the world as to how such an astounding feat occurred. After the Second World War, countries from both East Asia and Latin America began to industrialize and competed vigorously in the world market, however it is worthy to note that Latin American had several advantages from the very beginning. These include higher per capita income, higher level of industrialization, higher saving rates, higher education levels. Many of these East Asian countries/regions have just gained their independence (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia) and are recovering from war, in particular Japan and South Korea. Yet in the 1980 s East Asian economies developed at a much faster pace while economic growth in Latin America was stagnant and failed to live up to its potential. This paper will address the differences in economic strategies employed, explore why Latin America failed while East Asian economies achieved remarkable progress, and if there are any worthwhile lessons that current emerging economies can if possible emulate the kind of success achieved by newly industrialized countries (NICs). There were times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section. For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I was marked down. If I added the patients spiritual needs in the format it would be crossed out because it did not fit the checklist. The nursing approach that was used in our program was based on theory we learned in lecture. We wrote care plans that included an assessment, structural variables, nursing diagnosis, goals, nursing interventions and evaluations. We were marked down if the interventions didn t match the nursing diagnosis or if there was insufficient assessments made to come up with a nursing diagnosis or goal. • 17. Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublinwere not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satiremade to jolt the people of Dublin, Irelandinto understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country, ... It is important that the environment for the child be set with ideas and task that will allow them too mentally, educationally and physically develop with or without adult and peer assistant. Countries were greatly divided by this schism, Protestants deeply mistrusted Catholics, Saxon and Hessen Germans were old rivals and French forcible conquests of foreign monarchies created territorial tension. Amphipathicity In Negatively Charged Membranes As previously suggested, AMPs can partition themselves into the lipid rich areas of biomembranes and disrupt the proper functioning of bacterial lipids regulating cell division. Hydrophobicity is an important factor that determines the extent to which an AMP can distribute itself among membrane lipids. The percentage of hydrophobic residues in a peptide is termed hydrophobicity. It is usually at 50% for most peptides. [1] However, highly hydrophobic peptides can prove to be toxic to the cell, therefore AMPs must be moderately toxic to be able to show antimicrobial activity while at the same time have minimal effect on mammalian cells. Antibiotic resistant pathogens have evolved various mechanisms to evade antibiotic action. These include preventing the antibiotic from binding or entering it, modifying the binding site of the antibiotic or producing an enzyme that deactivates the antibiotic. Therefore it has become crucial to be able to design new antimicrobial substances that can overcome these existing antibiotic resistant pathogens. [3] Such an antimicrobial agent should be highly target specific, making them non toxic towards mammalian cells. This is not very difficult to achieve since there are significant differences between mammalian and microbial cells based on structural features, membrane charge and composition, transmembrane potential etc. as discussed above. Due to their ability to permealibilize microbial membranes, AMPs have the potential to act synergistically by facilitating the passage of antibiotics across the microbial membranes. Moreover, it is difficult for microbial cells to develop resistance towards AMPs. This is possibly due to the fact that AMPs attack the entire cytoplasm as well as intracellular molecules, and kill bacterial cells very quickly using several complex mechanisms. ... In his novel Candide, Voltaire focuses on many topics, specifically the pitfalls and dangers of optimism, the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church, and political injustice. Although humorous, the irony and parody that exists in the novel serve the purpose of exposing the Enlightenment s widely accepted views of political, philosophical, and religious practices through the eyes of Candide. Voltaire had an appreciation for the more liberal and free societies which he witnessed in Britain. He believed that the political system in France was corrupt and favored the aristocracy while undermining commoner s rights. • 37. Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely ... • 41. The Effects Of Military Involvement On U.s. Introduction Since the need has been established to justly acknowledge the requisite to take into account preparations and responses to hazards and the correlational effects, the realization of governmental assistance became apparent. Due to the ever demanding scenarios, and the requirement of specialized skill and personnel, the United States Military would ultimately play a role during such occurrences on United States soil. Although there are Federal, State, and local authorities whom have a primary purpose of planning for such events, the need of additional assistance during certain situations is inevitable. Until certain pieces of legislation were formed, the authorized scope of military involvement on U.S. soil in a post disaster area was somewhat obscure. Situations as such created issues regarding personnel, equipment, regulation, and the ever present issue of monetary cost and reimbursement. Once FEMA was legally formed into a federal entity, these issues could be more accurately accounted for with such pieces of legislation and regulations as the Stafford Act, the Immediate Response Authority, Defense Support to Civil Authorities, and although put into law decades before the previously noted, the Posse Comitatus Act. All of these alterations were tested out in the field, ultimately showing several complications and alterations that were necessary to respond and recover in a more effective manner. The United States population s ability to express themselves has grown the most in recent decades. This capability to express one s self is comparable to our cultures recent stressed activism for the freedom to act without criticism. Artist s role now, is to be as personal, unique, and creative as possible. Our society is going through a change of cultural acceptance for those who feel oppressed. Art is currently about being creative and expressing emotions or ideas through a surface plane medium. However, it always was not this way. Artists and their art world, from century to century, responds to their societies attributes. Because of this, past cultures prominence can be interpreted and represented through their art. Recalling the oldest known art periods, first, the Prehistoric Art era, we can see societies from b.c. through 2500 b.c., that their cultures were advanced. From personal representations of nature and deities, these people s small ability to create different types of art shows how they were more skilled craftsman, instead of artists. The capacity to share thoughts and ideas through the spoken word allows humans to function as a group, enabling humanity to function as an entity greater than the sum of its separate individuals. Music shares similar properties, as it is also transmitted and perceived through sound. Both have the potential to connect people and are innate properties of the human being. It is widely acknowledged by linguists that British English represents stress timed language, whereas French represents syllable timed language. To detail the exact difference between the two, stress timed languages have equal duration between stresses, while syllable timed languages show equal duration between syllable onsets (Patel Daniele, 2003, p. 36). With this basic piece of background information, Patel Daniele hypothesizes that syllable timed languages have greater variability in the duration of its vowels as opposed to syllable timed languages. Intuitively, this makes sense since the temporal distance between syllables is smaller compared to the distance between the various points of stresses made in speech, which can span multiple syllables and words. This logic gave birth to the normalized Pairwise Variability Index measure of speech rhythm or simply, nPVI. As the term pairwise suggests, the nPVI takes the length between each pair of adjacent events in time, and calculates how much variability there is among the various duration of vowels compared to the average duration over the entire series of events. The main strength of the nPVI measure lies in the fact that it is a relative measure of events that take place over time, allowing one to take an nPVI value for both music and language and selectively measure the variability of speech rhythm and musical rhythm within the same ... In his novel, In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written by Truman Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas. In the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the resulting deaths. He writes At the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because it shows the contrast of the sleeping town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time. How did countries such as England and France establish their borders along the continent? Modern boundaries affected the world in numerous ways. The extensive Hundred Years War raged from 1337 to 1453 and played a key role in solidifying borders in Europe(Hundred Years War np). Conflict over the throne of France ignited a bitter war between England and France when English kings claimed their right to the French throne (Curry 3). There were breaks in the war that lasted for long periods of time, however, the issue of the monarchy of France still remained (Hundred Years War np). Another skillfully fought battle that occurred years later was the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 which resulted in another victory for the English (Curry 10). England s king, Henry V, intended to conquer more French land and capture the throne as the rightful king just as previous kings had done. The French army s heavy armor, cavalry, and overconfidence had led to their downfall in this battle, even though they outnumbered the English army (Curry 10). If the army had instead used their numbers more efficiently to overpower the English and advance their style of warfare, then the results would have been different. As stated in Battle of Agincourt , The English stood their ground as French knights, weighed down by their heavy armor, began a slow advance across the muddy battlefield. The French were met by a furious bombardment of artillery from the English archers (Battle of Agincourt np). A slow army would be easy to target and dwindle their numbers because the English archers could halt a cavalry charge from a distance. It was a time of change for the English and their army while the French army still used the feudal system of knights in this battle. Evidently, the feudal system was becoming obsolete as a result in the disadvantages it presented. Without England s advancement, the smaller army most likely would have not been able to capture more duchies of France. Possibly, the French army might have stopped the war entirely earlier on.
