Essays On Racial Discrimination
Writing an essay on the topic of racial discrimination is a challenging task that requires a deep
understanding of the complexities surrounding this sensitive issue. The difficulty lies not only in
researching and presenting factual information but also in navigating the emotional and historical
aspects associated with racial discrimination. This subject demands a nuanced approach, as it
involves exploring the impact of discriminatory practices on individuals, communities, and
societies.
One of the challenges is to strike the right balance between providing a comprehensive overview
of the historical context of racial discrimination and addressing the contemporary manifestations
of these issues. It requires careful consideration of various perspectives, acknowledging the
voices of those who have experienced discrimination, and analyzing the systemic structures that
perpetuate such inequalities.
Additionally, the writer must be mindful of the potential emotional triggers that discussing racial
discrimination may evoke. Crafting an essay that is both informative and empathetic is crucial to
engage readers and foster understanding. It requires sensitivity to cultural nuances, an awareness
of the power dynamics at play, and a commitment to presenting a fair and unbiased analysis.
Furthermore, tackling racial discrimination in an essay involves delving into legal and policy
dimensions, examining the role of institutions, and proposing potential solutions for addressing
and eradicating discrimination. This multifaceted exploration adds another layer of complexity to
the writing process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on racial discrimination demands a thorough understanding of the
topic, a commitment to presenting diverse perspectives, and the ability to navigate the emotional
and historical dimensions of the issue. It is a challenging endeavor that requires careful research,
thoughtful analysis, and a dedication to promoting awareness and change.

Jasper Short Stories
Jasper s eyes snapped open as he awoke with a start. He could ve sworn he heard a
noise. He shook it off, and rolled over to check the time. 4:37 am. He sighed,
climbing out of bed to get a drink of water for his parched mouth. He passed his
window, and had to do a double take. The city, his city, was in ruins. The sky was
fire, the air was ashen. He whirled around, pulling on jeans and a t shirt. As he was
grabbing his pilot s goggles, Jasper s vision swirled as he realized exactly what was
going on. It dawned on him that the scene he had witnessed outside of his bedroom
window was Chicago being bombed. He ran to his door, only to touch his door
handle and yank his burned hand back. There must ve been a bomb nearby, the sheer
force of it must ve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He turned around, and that was when he saw it. There was no doubt about it. The
man, if one could even call it that, was large and bulky, and smelled of ash and
blood. Jasper bit the inside of his cheek so hard he could taste something metallic
inside his mouth. Without wasting another precious moment, Jasper turned on his
heel and took off. He was sure he could hear the stranger s feet pounding on the
damp soil. He knew the man was weighed down by all the fur pelts of the animals
he had probably maimed and killed, but Jasper could tell he was close behind from
the pure stink of his ripe body odor. His eardrums were filled with the sound of his
pumping blood and his own panting breath. He thought he was going to make it,
he truly did. His hopes died, however, when he felt something grab at the back of
his torn and bloodied clothes. Jasper cried out as he felt blunt fingernails scrape at
the back of his neck before grabbing hold of his shirt and yanking him back. He
could feel his skin tear as a particularly sharp branch sliced his abdomen clean
across. He knew it was a shallow laceration, but his vision still fogged up, his body
threatening unconsciousness due to the sheer amount of pain it was in. Jasper
fought it, though. His breaths were coming in and out too fast and too short, and he
was fully aware that he couldn t keep this up much longer. His vision was darkening
and he felt as though his body was collapsing in
Matt Groening Research Papers
Matt Groening is arguably one of the best cartoonists in the history of television.
When people hear the name Matt Groening, they immediately think about the hit
cartoon series The Simpsons or Futurama. However, not many people know much
about Matt Groening as a person. Groening was born on February 15, 1954 in
Portland Oregon. Groening graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland
Oregon and graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. Right
after Groening graduated from Evergreen State College, he started to make comic
strips. In 1977 Groening made his first comic called Life In Hell. Life in Hell is a
comic strip about two rabbits and two men who are constantly having odd adventures.

The show the Simpsons has certainly withstood the test of time. This year would
mark the 18th anniversary of The Simpsons first airing on the Tracy Ullman Show.
A once really short cartoon skit has turned into a half hour cartoon show, that has
aired over 375 different shows over a course of 17 seasons, and there is no end in
sight for the Simpsons to stop having new shows airing every Sunday night at eight
o clock on the FOX network. Matt Groening spent couple of years studying science
fiction in his free time. His study of science fiction gave him the idea to start a new
cartoon series. Groening got together with the head staff writer of the Simpsons,
David X. Cohen, to discuss the possible idea of creating a science fiction cartoon
show. Soon after their meeting the animated show Futurama was born. Futurama
is a cartoon show about a young man named Fry who was a pizza delivery boy in
the year 2000. Fry ends up being frozen in time for 1000 years and he wakes up in
the year 3000. Fry discovers a really distant relative along with a one eyed girl Lela
and a robot named Bender. Together all of the characters go on various comical
science fiction adventures. Futurama was a mild success, the show aired for four
seasons on FOX. But, during the show s fourth season, the ratings began to drop
significantly. As a result 20th Century FOX decided to cancel the show. Groening
blamed the cancellation of Futurama on
The Body Of Christopher Creed
In the book The Body of Christopher Creed, Christopher Creed s relation with his
family are important to the plot of the story. He is affected by his family in many
ways and they may have caused some of the situations from the book. One of the
ways that Chris is affected by his family is his mom, Mrs. Creed. She affects him
by how strict she is. We see in the book that she is strict from the start. She makes
every bedroom the exact same and also doesn t give her children much freedom.
She acts this way because of her past. She has a military background and she also
was a boon. Knowing this, we can infer that she had a rough childhood. It is
mentioned in the book that she was beaten by her father and hung by a tree. The next

The Fellowship Of The Ring
In the Fellowship of the Ring written by J.R.R. Tolkien and it reveals a new world
of elves, magic, men, dwarves, hobbits, and other unworldly creatures. Middle
Earth is the name of the lands every creature inhabits, and like our world, it is
divided up and has different realms of elves, dwarves, men and so forth. Much to
my surprise I enjoyed the book and found it was very intriguing. While I was
reading further into the book I became more drawn into the plot and main
characters. The Fellowship of the Ring is part of a trilogy and I would enjoy
reading the other two books in the series. The story commences with a narrative
speech spoken by Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of the Shire, and gives the reader the
background of Middle Earth. Gandalfthe Grey is in the Shire and decides to visit
Bilbo while he is getting ready for his 111th birthday, which commences the same
night. During the birthday party Bilbo decides to play a little trick on his guests with
his special ring and disappears before their very eyes as he slips on his ring. Bilbo
runs to his home and packs up his belongings and departs for a journey, while he s

Enervation In The Triumph Of Death Essay
Drizelle Baluyot
Enervation in The Triumph of Death
In a perfect world, sickness and death no longer exist. Ideally, there would be
wholesome bodies, pure souls, and a transcendence that takes human beings beyond
the limits of their imagination. Although Giorgio Aurispa longs for this kind of
transcendence, he has found that life was but a seething mass of impurity (104).
Human beings have managed to find purpose in the midst of life s endless scheme of
enervation through work, religion, responsibility, and community. However, this is
not always the case for the privileged, which Gabriele D Annunzio blatantly
addresses in his novel The Triumph of Death through Giorgio Aurispa, a 20 year old
man who has become wealthy through inheritance from his uncle who has just
committed suicide. Giorgio begins his journey towards enervation after no longer
having need of these different spheres of life and instead, immerses himself with
sensuality, materialism, and whatever pleasures his heart desires. Gabriele D
Annunzio used Giorgio s ambivalence to demonstrate how his journey of enervation
was birthed out of privilege. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With sickness and death constantly surrounding Giorgio, he wasn t able to get
through life by focusing on other aspects, such as work, community, or love. Giorgio
s tendency towards privilege led him to a prideful man, an unmoved Nietzsche
superman who would not settle for less than the ideal. D Annunzio used The Triumph
of Death as a pessimistic warning to the privileged that the obsessive pursuit of
transcendence will only lead to a disappointment that has the potential to destroy a
person s soul. Life is not meant to be experienced through an idealized lens, but
through hard work, dedication, responsibility, community, and everything that gives
life the fullness of
Propaganda In The Nazi And The Rwandan Genocide
Thee last couple of weeks we have been talking about genocide and the eight stages
to identify it. We have also talked about three or four cases of genocide for example
the Nazi genocide or the Rwandan genocide. And after looking over the stories and
comparing them they all have many commonalties either in their planning or in the
actions that they all took throughout the genocide. Some of these commonalties are
the usage of propaganda as recruitment, the planning of the genocides, and finally
hatred towards a certain race or religion. How propaganda was a major commonality
is in the Nazi and the Cambodian genocide both were very repetitive with sayings or
images using it as recruitment or a support method. Secondly the Nazis and the
Rwandan genocidewere similar because they both used their propaganda to
dehumanize the enemies, convince their soldiers who the enemy was, and that killing
the enemy was the only way to go. All the genocides on the other hand have the
commonality of using propaganda to build up hate for the group that they wished to
kill or wipe out.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example is the killings in all the genocides didn t just happen in one day
they were executed in small episodes. Another reason planning was a major part is
the Hutus nor did the Nazis just choose a random group of people to kill they
thought about who they wanted to attack. Finally planning is a major part in
genocide because you can t just go into a fight without a plan they had to
strategically plan out when and how they were going to attack the group they were
fighting against. For example the concentration camps weren t just randomly found
the Nazis built them certain ways for the different ways they were going to kill the
Bernanke on Bernanke Essay
In a recent article in Bloomberg, reporter Jeannine Aversa gives some history and
advice for Ben Bernanke, Fed Chief from Ben Bernanke the scholar. Ben s advice
in a nutshell? Be bold. Ben Bernanke began his 4 year appointment as Fed
Chairman and 14 year term on the Federal Reserve Bank s Board of Governors
February 1, 2006 by President George H.W. Bush. He was appointed to a second
term as the Chairman on February 1, 2010 by President Barack Obama. Dr.
Bernanke received his B.A. in economics from Harvard in 1975 and a Ph.D. in
economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979 (Federal
Reserve, 2011). The article in Bloomberg hits on a few key spots where Bernanke has

On his watch, the Fed has also had to purchase mortgage securities as well as
government debt in an effort to revive the housing market and promote spending
by Americans (Aversa, 2011). Another effort to promote spending by consumers
was a payroll tax cut called for by Bernanke along with buying up $600 billion in
bonds through an open market operation. When the Federal Open Market
Committee (FOMC) wants to increase the money supply, they buy up government
bonds from the public on the bonds markets (Mankiw, 2009). The result of buying
bonds puts money in the pockets of the public, if the Fed wants to decrease the
money supply, they sell off bonds. It is generally thought that when the public has
more money available to them, they will consume more. This increased
consumption should lead to an overall increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
and expansion of the economy. GDP is the market value of all final goods and
services produced within a country in a given period of time. GDP is basically the
measure of a nation s total income and is an important tool in explaining a single
society s economic well being (Mankiw, 2009). To some extent that was the case,
consumption did increase for a short period of time after the Fed s Quantitative
Easing (QE). 2010 and the first half of 2011, saw some good
Case Study On Chimera
2.1 Multitasking Real Time Kernel Chimera Kernel differs from conventional
operating systems since they provide constructs to control process execution as a
function of time (real time kernel). The kernel provides task and memory
management, flexible scheduling, user space system calls to reduce operating system
overhead, virtual timers, and a variety of communication and synchronization
mechanisms. Chimera was intended to adopt most of the features of a multi tasking
operating system while keeping the response time low, a typical characteristic of a
real time system. This was achieved by eliminating overhead features required of
multi user operating systems like inter process security, large process space and
virtual memory. It also provides... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore all classes of design (architectural, procedural and data design) become
more complex. Predictability of a real time operating system puts performance at
stake. However in Chimera high performance features make it different from other
RTOSs. Distributed operating systems pose a serious issue of security and therefore
need to incorporate Authorization and Authentication mechanisms. Many of the
information resources that are made available and maintained in distributed systems
have a high intrinsic value to their users. Their security is therefore of considerable
importance. Sufficient information regarding this aspect is not available for

asked me why homeopathy is the best treatment option for kids?
Homeopathy is an alternative branch of medical science that works on the basic
principle of similia similibus curenter , means like cures like in another word, a

Although homeopathic remedies should not replace conventional treatment for
serious health concerns, but they can be used as an alternative option. For example
in the case of asthma in kids, it is necessary to use conventional inhalers and other

them. When indicated medicine will start work on individual symptoms (it may take
a time and patience is required) then the dose of conventional medicines can be
tapered gradually. After a period of time patient can control his disease with

Team Working and Personality Type
A team is made up of different kinds of people; some people behave as team
workers to help and support other members, while some people work as an
individual to solve problems. In order to make the most effective outcomes, it is
important to understand which type of team members you are. Belbin suggested
that every team members are unique in nine different characteristics and
categorized it into three groups: Action Oriented, People Oriented, and Thought
Oriented (Belbin 1993, 2014) (See Appendix D). However, the questionnaire test
assessed only eight team roles by exempt Specialist team role from questionnaire.
The result from Belbin s Team Role Testing showed that I am act as Co coordinator
in the team (See Figure3 and Table 1). According to Belbin (1993), Co coordinators
are mature, trusting and confident, they are quick to spot individual talents and to
use them to pursue group objectives, and they have a broad and worldly outlook.
Nonetheless, the key to work in a team is to have correct balance of skill and
behavior to support and drive each other to connect with a common goal.

Science Fiction And Cultural Values
Science Fiction and Cultural Values
Introduction
Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with
the future of technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic
novels, fiction novels, television series, and in film. Some common portrayals of
science fiction include time and space travel. At times, these stories feature life that is
found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on new
technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may
seem to be a fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic.
However, that fantasy becomes a reality when it changes how people view their daily
lives.
History of science fiction
Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates
back to science fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances
in science in future years to come. Religious poems and stories that talk about the
creation or demolition of the universe have some elements that are like the
elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be associated
with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old
philosophical text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The
Republic . The topics and adventures discussed in the text are viewed as a fantasy
and do not seem practical in real life because they cannot be experienced using normal

an easier way for nurses and physicians to access healthcare records, provides a quick

who live on the island of Neverland. The boys never want to grow up. When they

why i think motherhood is very important especially in this story. The main setting
in this story is in Ms. Darling nursery. In the nursery at the beginning and end of the
story is where I believe the importance of motherhood is shown. This is because

Binge Drinking In College
The perennial problem of binge drinking, especially among college students, is an
important issue that must be solved as soon as possible. Thesis: The binge drinking
related problems in campus can be inherently solved by building up proper drinking
belief from family education. Supporting subtopics: The gravity of binge drinking
related problems has not been relieved in the recent decade, although college
administrators have developed prevention programs and punishment policies to
eliminate the phenomenon of binge drinking. The persistently unsolved problem
should be attributed to that the major focus of previous attempts has generally been
on preventing binge drinking behavior per se (root). To solve binge drinking related
problems by prohibiting binge drinking is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a matter of fact, binge drinking would not necessarily lead to negative
consequences. For example, consider the individual who perceives that drinking
alcohol is likely to lead to physical harm. This individual is perhaps less likely to
engage in behaviors after drinking that are highly related to experiencing negative
consequences relative to individuals who do not hold that belief (root). Binge
drinking in campus is universally recognized as misconduct, but the degree of its
consequence is determined by the drinking belief of the drinkers. In certain
occasions, such as birthday parties, binge drinking is inevitable. But if the college
students hold the drinking belief that any immoral, illegal or dangerous activities
should be avoided after binge drinking with their friends, in all probability, they
would not suffer from the potential negative consequences. Additionally, when there
exist a few fellows with proper alcohol awareness among the drinkers in a party,
they can help lower the risk of alcohol related hazards of their friends in the party

Brand Items And The Purchaser Basic Leadership Process
INTRODUCTION In the modern society brands not only signify the product or
company but also have a strong relationship with perceived quality, consumers life
style, social class, taste etc. The motivation behind this study is to frame a more
profound thought of what impact a brand name can have, when individuals go for
buying, pick the items between various brands, particularly private vehicle like car.
Furthermore, this concentrate additionally tries to investigate the connection
between various brand items and the purchaser basic leadership process. This
study has been conducted through literature study as well as questionnaire
directed survey. Simple random sampling procedure has been used to determine
sampling frame and size and a convenience sample of sixty respondents of different
age groups, income and occupation have been considered for the survey. The
collected data were analysed to comply with the objectives and also to draw
conclusions. From the study it is discovered that when consumer purchases a car,
brand names do effect his/her choice. The study also reveals that branded cars have
a excessive place in consumer mind, when customers go for purchasing a car; they
prefer to purchase a familiar branded car. Customers would prefer not to attempt new
or obscure marked cars in light of the fact that they have very little data about the
slighter known brand. INDUSTRY PROFILEIndia is one of the most significant

Fifa Women s World Cup Essay
Thirty million dollars, that s what the German National Soccer team made last year
for winning the World Cup. The World Cup is one of the most prestigious
accomplishments in any sport. The players in the World Cup are some of the hardest
working, highest paid athletes in the world. These players are paid tremendous
amounts of money by their club, their country, and FIFA. However this is not the
only World Cup, on a different four year rotation is the FIFA Women s World Cup.
The women in the World Cup are treated as inferior because of their gender in terms
of payment, respect and also treated poorly by their own governing body.
The FIFA Women s World Cup started in 1991 as a twelve team tournament. It has
since expanded to a 24 team tournament that features tremendous athletic ability and
intense competition. The United States has won the Women s World Cup three times,
more than any other country, and is currently recognized by FIFA as the best team in
the world.
The Federation International de Football Association, FIFA, or in English the
International Federation of Association Football, is the governing body of soccer and
soccer related games, such as futsal and beach soccer. FIFA is a non profit

Literary Techniques Used In The Movie Oblivion
When a movie only contains a plot some stock soundtracks emphasizing certain
moments in a movie, then it s only just as good as the other movies within the
same genre because the soundtracks prove there was very little the makers could do
to emphasize how the movie was different and much more exciting since it did not
follow a clichГ© from similar movies. The movie Oblivion does just this: It
provides a unique plot that differs from most other sci fi movies and is accompanied
occasionally by segments of the main soundtrack, also named Oblivion. The
soundtrack could be the base of an entire short filmif the creators wanted to do just
only that. It is entirely possible because of the nature of the song and the fact that it

One example of the devices they used to influence the emphasis the song makes is
the rhyme scheme AAAA used in order to give a smooth transition to every line in
the song. This gives the feeling of a smooth transition into different chapters in the
movie instead of having an alternating rhyme scheme that would rather make the
song feel unconnected and as if the song misses key points before describing the
next chapter. Another example is the heavy use of symbolism throughout the song.
In the beginning, the dying swan is a reference to an inevitable fate that the female
sees coming for her relationship. In the second version, the lyrics imply that the
male character is better off without her by contrasting the word light to mean the
male and darkness to represent the female. There is also a heavy use of repetition
to highlight parts of movie where the emotions of the female are at the highest point
such as by using the words goodbye, falling, and calling to convey how heartbroken
the female feels. Based off all literary qualities the lyrics possess; the lyrics could
even interchangeably become a

In Section 4 in Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck, the author, decides to put four
characters in the section/scene. The four characters are: Crooks, Lennie, Candy and
Curley s Wife. In this scene,
Steinbeck portrays power through the characters. He portrays different types of
power and uses different methods to show us the power relationship through the four
characters. Steinbeck presents differing power through three main methods. These
methods are: power through the setting, power through all four characters (as one
band of characters), and through individual power in the group. As a result of this,

Steinbeck brought the two characters, Candy and Curley s Wife, in a way where
they cancel each other out: Candy gets angry and calms himself down whilst Curley
s wife couldn t do anything to or threat Candy as he even told her that he didn t care
if he got sacked.
Not only this but Curley s Wife gives us an impression of what she thinks of the
other characters in the Section as she calls them a bunch of bindle stiffs a nigger an a
dum dum and a lousy ol sheep. Steinbeck immediately portrays the difference of
power between them through Curley s
Wife thoughts.
When Lennie, Candy and Crooks were all together before Curley s Wife entered,
they were in the middle of talking about George and Lennies American Dream.
Crooks entered a dreamy state: he forget about The Great Depression and forgot about
hi skin colour and his status. After
Candy had a go at Curley s Wife and told her to leave, Crooks said that Maybe you
better go along to your own house. Curley s Wife ignored his comment. This shows
us that she thinks that she is superior to him and that he cant boss her around.
Steinbeck again subtly indicates this without direct speech. Later on when things
become tenser, Crooks stands up for himself: Crooks stood up from his bunk and
faced her. I had enough, he said coldly. You got no rights comin in a coloured man s

William Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Experience
William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience, printed in 1794, represents the
world as it is envisioned by what he calls two contrary states of the human soul
(Greenblatt, 1452). This collection of poetry is accompanied by pictures, which
create a mutually reliant relationship that allows for complete understanding of Blake
s works. To read a Blake poem without the pictures is to miss something important:
that relationship is an aspect of the poem s argument (1452). Overall, Blake s works
in Songs of Innocence and Experience provides a greater understanding into human
life. Through poetry, Blake juxtaposes the innocence of childhood with the
corruption of adulthood. Thus, his work allows the reader to see situations from a
double sided lens of innocence and then of experience. These two perspectives,
known as the two contrary states of the human soul , are independent and each
poem is accompanied by another poem; the poem Infant Joy is paired with Infant
Sorrow and the meek Lamb reveals its other aspect of divinity in the flaming,
wrathful Tyger (1456). In Songs of Innocence, published in 1789, celebrates the
innocence and untainted nature of childhood but it also doubles as a warning to
adults. It warns them that the corruption of society and culture is to come and in
Songs of Experience, a state of being that encompasses the loss of childhood vitality
and corruption caused by social and political influence. The innocence and experience

Sociology In Sociology
According to Durkheim, Social fact or social phenomenon are the main subject
matter of sociology. He said in one of his pieces that social fact must be studied
distinct from the biological and psychological phenomenon. Social order is the
trend of behavior being used to exercise power over another person. It has become
rules and regulations that have been set up by some authorities to be obeyed by
another group of people who are being undermined in a society, it is a situation that
oppressed people and limits them from their liberties. When people go through these
situations they cannot function the way they are supposed to function because they
are limited by their freedom. These social orders are not only laws but rather certain
norms created by the authority to put a whole raceinto a situation where they are very
far from freedom of speech, movement, and knowledge. African Americans are an
example of a race that has been through discrimination at workplaces, schools,
community etc. They are one race which has been a label or put in a class where
the situation will never permit you to climb the ladder of success. Although you
might have all the certification, qualification, the best schools, etc. but the fact that
you came from the poor class or the lower class, it becomes very difficult for the
Caucasian people to give you the opportunity you deserve, because of this, the

Maya Angelou Biography
Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist known
worldwide for these many things. Throughout her life she had published seven
autobiographies, three essay turned books, and several books of poetry. She was
credited by many influencers for her amazing list of plays, movies, and television
shows that had a span of over 50 years. She was and for many more lifetimes will be
a woman that people look up to. Many people know her as Maya Angelou.
Born on April 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri she was named Marguerite Johnson
nicknamed Maya by her brother; her surname is an adaptation of that of her first
husband. Due to the breakup of her parents marriage, her brother and herself had
moved to live with their grandmother in Stamps, Arkansas. Maya was raped by her
mother s boyfriend when she was eight years old and for the following five years
was mute. In her teens she moved to California to live with her mother, and at 16
gave birth to her son (Angelou, Maya). Which lead to the portrays unsparingly, but
with humour, the hardships of her early years, including the trauma of rape by her
mother s lover; it was nominated for a U.S. National Book Award. (Marguerite Annie)
After moving to San Francisco when she was 16, Angelou began studying music,
dance with many artist such as Martha Graham, and joined drama. In her twenties
she toured Europe and Africa in a production of Porgy and Bess sponsored by the
U.S. Department of State (1954 55). Angelou was a

throughout the world, in places such as the United States, Canada, Asia, the
Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Latin America. The
organization was founded in 1976. The idea for the organization came to the

I have volunteered there before. I volunteered at Gleaners twice, once for HOPE

The right to consult a lawyer when being questioned by the police is a very
important right as it could potentially save an individual from being convicted for
whatever he or she has been accused of. This case was centered on Danny Escobedo
who was taken into custody by the Chicago police department on January 20th, 1964,
for the shooting of his brother in law. During Escobedo?s interrogation he
continuously asked to consult with his lawyer. The authorities in charge of
Escobedos interrogation refused to provide a lawyer for Escobedo, which ultimately
ended up with him confessing to the murder of his brother in law. Being forced into
confessing to the murder of his brother in law drove Escobedo to take his case to the
supreme court under the premise that his sixth amendment right of right to counsel,

Figure 1.
Introduction:
Web Services describe an area of computing which define the method of
communication used by machines to interact with each other over the internet. A web
service is a method for applications that are written in contrasting languages to be
able to transfer data between one another without any problems. Two kinds of Web
Services are SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and REST (Representational
State Transfer).
SOAP characterizes a communication protocol for XML based message exchange.
SOAP utilizes transport protocols such as HTTP and SMTP. SOAP provides
simplified communication methods through firewalls and proxies. It is both language
and platform independent. SOAP uses SOAP messages in order to transmit messages.
The SOAP message is a standard XML document which contains the following

The meetings I have attended focused on ground transportation items such as taxi
and transportation network companies (TNCs), i.e. Uber and Lyft and ground

and the public speakers are very loud and vocal. The meeting on March 28th, 2017
was more of a formal setting with vocal discussions, however, the atmosphere
surrounding the meeting was somewhat subdued compared to the other meetings I
have participated in. The BOCC were more relaxed during this meeting and even
joked with each other in a professional and polite manner. The audience, whom
should be quite during the meeting, also laughed at the Commissioners jokes.
When the audience participated as speakers the BOCC listened and then moved
onto the next speaker. Both parties, the BOCC and the public speakers were polite
and all speakers stayed within his or her allocated three (3) minutes timeframe to
talk. I was unable to locate any news articles relating to the March 28, 2017, BOCC
meeting. There were a few times throughout the meeting a commissioner asked the
County Attorney if what was being requested was the first time or a different action
taken by the Board than in the past. It seemed many of the new Board members
wanted to ensure they were not changing policy or actions of previous Boards.
Annotated Bibliography On Database Encryption
1. INTRODUCTION Database Encryption is one of the technique used for
securing the data in database. This method transforms information on a computer
in such a way that it becomes unreadable. So, even if someone is able to gain
access to a computer with personal data on it, they likely won t be able to do
anything with the data unless they have original data key, complicated or expensive
software. The main function of encryption is essentially to translate normal text into
cipher text. Encryption makes sure that data doesn t get read by the wrong people,
but can also ensure that data isn t altered in transit, and verify the identity of the
sender. Data Encryption method typically uses a specified parameter or key to
perform the data transformation. Some encryption algorithms require the key to be
the same length as the message to be encoded, yet other encryption algorithms can
operate on much smaller keys relative to the message. Encryption is most used
among transactions over insecure channels of communication, such as the internet.
Encryption is also used to protect data being transferred between devices such as
mobile telephones, automatic teller machines (ATMs), and many more. Encryption
can be used to create digital signatures, which allow a message to be authenticated.
When properly implemented, a digital signature gives the recipient of a message
reason to believe the message was sent by the claimed sender. 2. THREATS TO

Equality 7-2521 Quotes
In the book Anthem, we learn that people live in a collectivist society where they
are the great We and the only We. This kind of society oppresses man s inborn
thirst for knowledge and creativity, although one character still possesses the want
for knowledge. Equality 7 2521 is the man cursed with the nature to want to know
more, even though he is lashed he still persists on his quest for knowledge. What is
Equality s motivation if not for joy, and it is not for the greater good for mankind?
The simple answer may be curiosity, for no punishment could change him from
wanting to know. Equality is motivated for multiple reasons, one being curiosity,
the desire to create something to call his own, and to be part of the council of
scholars. Curiosity killed the cat, but it is also the reason we are so technologically
advanced today. A society without curiosity would have no will, no drive, and people
would wander around without meaning. This trait, curiosity, is the basis of mankind.
As shown in the book, Equality possessed curiosity. He said, But we loved the
Science of Things. We wished to know. We wished to know about all the things which
make the earth around us. We asked so many questions that the Teachers forbade it.

The story of Capturing the Friedman and The Imposter are unique and interesting;

The effect of this single shoot also help to forms an emotional connection between
Bourdin and the audience when he discuses his childhood as an damaged person who

Issues In Cinderella Man
In Cinderella Man, Ron Howard illustrates the events that occurred in the life of
James J. Braddock, a boxer in the early 1900s who overcame rigorous challenges
and became the world heavyweight boxing champion. While many people believe
the film was made purely to entertain, it actually displays many prevalent issues in
today s society, with one of these issues being the importance of maintaining a
proper appearance. Although it isn t blatantly displayed throughout the film, Ron
Howard demonstrates the importance of appearances in today s society through
the subtle interactions between the on screen characters. The issue traces back to
even the most well known Cinderella story, as is shown in Walt Disney s
Cinderella, adapted by Campbell Grant. The story places emphasis on how

Cinderella wins the battle because her mother is able, through magic, to provide
raiment so stunning that no ordinary dress can compete (Panttaja 288). A few lines
later, the author supports this by stating that The prince marries Cinderella
because he is enchanted (literally) by the sight of her in the magical clothes (288).
What this implies is that the prince would not have had the slightest of interest in
Cinderella if it wasn t for her magical garbs, provided by her fairy godmother of

described as deformed, while the sisters are described as fair ; what can be
inferenced from this is that Cinderella s dress is in fact, miraculous by turning a

One of the things that sets Harley Davidson s culture apart from other businesses is
employee involvement. The participation of the employees in the business has been
an essential component to there success. In order to maximize employee
involvement, the hierarchy and layers of management have been minimized and an

He believes that alienation is a phenomenon of consciousness, involving an
inherent disassociation of man as subject and object. It is interesting to note that
while Marx discusses four aspects of alienation alienation from the object
produced; alienation from one s work process itself; alienation from one s work;
alienation from one s fellow men, the Freudians hold that it is society that creates
an emaciating effect upon man s raw energy. Erich Fromm, like Hegel, explained
alienation more than a sociological phenomenon. He discussed four main ways in
which a person can experience alienation: from nature, from others, from society,
and from the self. While discussing the concept of alienation, Karen Horney talks
about real self . Her main focus is on understanding the psychic processes which
ensue when a person loses touch with his real self or is self alienated. In Durkheim
s phraseology, alienation as the consequence of a state of anomie exists when people

campuses. Community is thought of as, although different to specific individuals or
subcultures, basically a group of informally bound people sharing similar passions
(Wenger, 2000). Majority of universities will push the idea of community and
togetherness on its students. They will do this a number of ways including, Freshman
Convocation, Freshman Colloquium, and Welcome Week Activities (Nathan, 2005),
just to name a few. By using different methods of bringing students closer to one
another, universities intend to make a happier ... Show more content on

Included in the research of this topic were anthropologists, psychologists,
sociologists, and social policy in order to connect individuals, institutions, cultural
communities, and relationships over time. This research was done to create
opportunities for youth and to help people give back to their community (Wenger
Snyder, 2000), to emphasize on the strengths, rather than weaknesses of youth and
build youth s initiative (Denner, Lopez, Cooper, Dunbar, 1998; Zeldin, 1995).
Gathered from this research was a list of ways to build a successful community
within a university.
Step 1Make goals explicit by clarifying the goals.
Step 2Develop a common language with informal actions to establish common
ground.
Step 3Define roles in the community, but it is not necessary to limit who can join.
Step 4Have early success by beginning with simple yet effective activities to get the
group rolling forward.
Step 5Everyone needs to participate to feel accepted and needed by the group.
Step 6Members need to be recognized as individuals.
Community has many advantages that go along with it; these groups may not be
particularly easy to create and sustain, the organic, spontaneous, and informal nature
makes them resistant to supervision and interference (Wenger, 2000). Unfortunately,
with every accomplishment there must be some sort of downfall. As described in
Nathan s, My Freshman Year, big community has

In 2006, Parker and Stone met Lopez in London where they wrote a few songs for
the musical and came up with the basic plot for the musical. After a few years of
staging workshops and making changes to the production, the musical started with
developmental workshops in 2008. In August 2010, a final workshop took place
that lasted for five weeks. The producer for the play Scott Rudin wished for the
musical to not travel outside of New York Cityand to open up on Broadway. He
pushed everyone by booking the Eugene O Neill Theatre in New York City. After the

Vapor Liquid In Electronic Cigarettes Essay
How to Fill Vapor Liquid in Electronic Cigarettes
Ecig liquid is what fills up electronic cigarette cartridges; the atomizer revolves it
into the vapor that you breathe in. It is a blend of vegetable glycerin and propylene
glycol, with added flavorings and nicotine. The ratio of propylene glycol to
vegetable glycerin changes the properties of the vapor formed; propylene glycol
creates fewer vapor but extra flavor, while vegetable glycerin does the contrary.
Most vapor liquids include more PG than VG, but the percentage you prefer will
depend on what you desire. Propylene glycol simulates the feel of smoking superior
because it generates a sturdy throat hit, which is the feeling you find when nicotine
vapor hits the reverse of your throat.

Healthcare Provision and Resources Essay
There has been plans geared towards improvement of healthcare in the U.S to
enable meet its population needs by improving the health status of Americans. Top
on the list of its agenda is to provide appropriate healthcare to all people within the
U.S. borders which is a goal that is achievable according to PR Newswire (2007).
Healthcare Provision and Resources
In the United States almost all levels of healthcare are delivered by the private sector
providers. Many hospitals and health facilities are owned and run by profit making
companies. Doctors and other health workers are either independent practitioners or
happen to work for private sector healthcare institutions. Access to healthcare is
acquired through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has led to various methods of improving the situation through redesigning of the
healthcare system according to the Institute of Medicine through its report Crossing
the Quality Chasm: A New Health System for the 21st Century which was released in
March 2001.
The healthcare is supporting the goals of public through various strategies. Firstly,
the healthcare is dedicated to provide care to patients whenever they need it and in
many forms, not just face to face visits. This means that the healthcare is now
responsive at all times, and it is providing healthcare over the internet, by telephone,
and by other means in addition to in person visits. The healthcare has also
customized its services depending on the customer needs and values which have
enabled it to meet the most common types of needs and at the same time having the
capability to respond to individual patient choices and preferences. It has also made it
easier for patients to receive necessary information and opportunity to exercise the
degree of control they choose over healthcare decisions that affect them. This system
has now been able to accommodate differences in patient preferences and encourage
shared decision making. This information is also made available to patients families
which enable them to make informed decisions when selecting a health plan, hospital,
or clinical practice, or when choosing among alternative treatments.
Understanding The Retail Department Stores
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to develop an in depth understanding of the retail
Department Stores industry. This understanding will allow our team to create and
implement a strategic plan in order to gain a competitive advantage for firms in the
industry. The Department Store industry includes companies that sell a broad
assortment of products and also incorporates Discount department stores who offer
their products at lower prices than most other retail stores (Carter, 2015). There are
five major product categories sold in department stores and they are apparel, drugs
and cosmetics, furniture and household appliances, toys and hobby goods, and other
(Carter, 2015). Some stores may also have pharmacy and photo services as well as
restaurants.
Executive Summary
The Department Store industry growth rate and life cycle are declining due to the
industry being unattractive and not drawing in more competitors. Also, firms are
leaving the industry because they want to offer consumers more options and are then
reclassified out of this industry into another one. Industries use either the low cost
strategy or the differentiation strategy to obtain a competitive advantage. Analyzing
the external environment has shown that it is not attractive for new entrants. After
the Target data breach firms in the industry are taking the necessary steps to protect
consumer information to be able to regain consumer trust. The industry is starting to
raise the hourly rate for employees
Conservatism vs. Labour Essay
Conservatism vs. Labour Conservatives: Conservative policy: There are two
different types of Conservative. There is the Traditional Conservative and the Neo
Liberal Conservative (Thatcherite). Conservatives generally, are pragmatic. This
basically means that each political situation should be judged on its own merits.
This also means that the idea of a fixed political response or formula is rejected.
However, it is interesting to note that many Thatcherites often adopted fixed
principles for political action. There is generally a strong emphasis on order.
Conservatives believe that the first concern of any government is to maintain order
and security. There is also emphasis on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other key players were Keith Joseph and Norman Tebbitt (aka Lord Tebbitt). A
number of large industries were privatised and trade unions were knocked down
from their powerful positions. In the eyes of a Conservative, trade unions are
disincentives for enterprise as they place too many constraints upon an employer,
thereby damaging the economy. They also reduced a wide range of welfare
benefits, and direct taxation on incomes. Instead, VAT was raised form 8% to
17.5%. This effectively meant that people were no longer taxed as much on their
earnings, but were taxed more on their spending. This meant that people had a
choice; they did not need to spend, they could save instead. Many people thought
that this favoured the middle classes as they could afford to pay the increase on
spending, whereas poorer people would not be able to pay this huge increase in
VAT and would therefore not be able to buy things. Also, direct taxation on profits
was reduced, thereby creating another incentive for the economy to perform well.
As one can see; the Conservatives of that era stuck to their ideals and did not
directly meddle with the economy. Instead, they altered the way taxation worked,
and the power of trade unions to indirectly alter the economy. The New Right is also
intensely nationalistic and takes a very firm line on law, order, and moral issues. To

Beowulf Embodies The Epic Hero
The 3D animated film Beowulf was released in 2007 and captured a completely new
look at the story of the epic hero Beowulf. The film compared to the epic poem,
written nearly a thousand years before, is different story wise. Critics had opposing
opinions on the movie, some immensely enjoyed it, while others were not fond of the
approach the writers took. Although the animated feature Beowulfmade several
changes to the original poem, Beowulf is a great movie that embodies the epic
while having its own story, because the film shows that Beowulf is flawed, the
transformation of Grendel s mother s character provides a compelling narrative,
and the modern spin on the poem made the film more fascinating. While Beowulf
is seen as a flawless hero in the poem, the movie presents him as not just a hero, but
a flawed one. Zemeckis Beowulf revolves around the great hero and gives audiences
an inside look at how he feels guilt, sadness, and is most importantly not perfect.
Transforming the hero into an imperfect man was a brilliant idea because it resonates
with audiences. In the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The epic was mainly about Beowulf and his battles with the monsters, meanwhile,
the film focused on a variety of events. The relationship between Wiglaf and
Hrothgar was complex, considering he was the father of Grendel. When Beowulf
and Wiglaf became a couple, and numerous years later slowly drifted apart, their
issues were prominent. Beowulf was shown pursuing an affair, and years before had
given Grendel s mother another child. The difficulties of feeling guilt, of drifting
apart from your spouse, and even giving into temptation are all modern issues that
anyone can deal with. Their intention, I think, was to make Beowulf and the ancient
world of the epic more engaging for modern audiences, particularly those unfamiliar
with the story . . . (Wood). Incorporating modern day issues into the plot created an

Health Financing Is Not For Effective Public Health Essay
Health financing refers to the function of a health system concerned with the
mobilization, accumulation and allocation of money to cover the health needs of
the people, individually and collectively, in the health system... the purpose of
health financing is to make funding available, as well as to set the right financial
incentives to providers, to ensure that all individuals have access to effective public
health and personal health care (WHO 2000). It is a well established fact that all
countries must have efficiently organized and managed health financing systems in
order to ensure human welfare. Or it can be simply said that without the necessary
funds, no health workers will be employed, no medicines would be available nor will
any health promotion or prevention activities take place (WHO). However it should
also be noted that financing is not merely the generation of funds. It is one of the
critical determinants that influence health outcomes in a country. It is mandatory to
have a good financing mechanism in place to ensure equity and accessibility as well
as to protect the majority of the population from catastrophic health expenditures.
Even in a high income country like the United States, cost escalations have put even
the basic healthcare inaccessible to several segments of the population, where
carefully planned financing arrangements have not been implemented (HLEG Report
on UHC 2011). To arrive at an appropriate strategy, policy makers would need to
assess
Hegel Sense And Certaintyity
Hegel s discussion and refutation of sense certainty is the beginning of his
discussion of consciousness in the Phenomenology of Spirit. From this discussion,
he lays the groundwork from which he reaches absolute knowledge. In this essay, I
will focus on Hegel s discussion of sense certainty. Following a brief summary of my
interpretation of sensecertainty, this essay will mainly focus on paragraph 91 in
which Hegel acknowledges the attributes and deficiencies of sense certainty. Since
the paragraph itself is too long to quote and analyze, I will choose a few key quotes
from the paragraph to discuss in detail. Further, since this is the beginning of sense
certainty and the claims he makes regarding sense certainty will later be refuted, the...

It is also the case that I am certain of this item not for the reason that the item of
which I am certain would exist in terms of a rich relation of diverse states in itself,
or because it would be related in multifarious ways to others. Both have nothing to
do with the truth of sense certainty; in that certainty, neither I nor the item mean a
manifold of mediation ; I does not mean a manifold of diverse activities of
representing and thinking, nor does the item mean a manifold of diverse states ;
rather, the item is, and it is merely because it is (Pinkard 2010). Hegel further
continues his criticism of the objects of sense certainty in these sentences. Since the
consciousness can t, according to sense certainty, comprehend and use its mental
capacity to conceptualize the object, its is limited to mere being as it is. This being
as it is stems from apprehension which allows the subject to apply universals to
objects of sense certainty. This application of universals blends one object with
others since universals can be applicable to other things as well. Therefore, a person
is only aware of an empty universal according to Hegel who concluded that this is
one of the major faults of sense certainty. Sense certainty fails in this regard because
apprehension does not transcend the universal...which does not

Evelina is a sort of island of graceful womanly understanding in a sea of shallow,
patronizing or satirical eighteenth century attitudes upon women and their ways. This
statement from Harrison R. Steeves (1965) depicts how women are under threat in
this male dominated society. Femininity is being discussed from men s point of view

Professional Theatre Vs School-Based Theater
Perhaps it s easy to assume that all theatre experiences are the same; after all, they
include the same ingredients. You need a cast, a set, a director, a stage manager, and
a few crewmembers to do the technological work. The differences between working
in a professional theater and a school based theater shouldn t be that prominent, in the
end. Except they are, and it s not nearly that simple. Compared to the stage in Loeb,
the Philadelphia TheatreCompany located in Center City is, in fact, a completely
different beast altogether. The theatre itself is located on the corner of Broad and
Lombard with a separate office a few blocks down, but the main building is
sprawling enough as it is. For the month of January, the company elected to put...

As the show came together, the core crew was established; it was to be the stage
manager, her assistant, the director, the actresses, and myself. As more elements
were added, the distribution of the jobs became clear; the stage manager was to
record and check out blocking, the assistant stage manager was to keep an eye on
props and reset them whenever necessary, and I was to watch for lines. This placed
me in a position wherein I would have to tell the actresses, at least thirty years my
senior and two astoundingly talented figures, what to do and how to phrase certain
lines. Not only was this prospect daunting, but it was terrifying; I entered this
project assuming I would be told what to do, but what they needed of me was to
tell others what to do. The community of theatre, I realized then (and still hold with
me now), did not rely on the heavy power structures that the rest of the world seems
to care about so deeply; there is give and take. The director tells the stage manager
what to do, yet sometimes the situation is switched. The actresses take instruction
from the director, but the director will listen to them for thoughts on where the scene
should go. Therefore, despite my small position as a standby assistant for whoever
needs it, it was expected of me to correct the actresses and give them cues when
necessary (no matter how uncomfortable I felt with it). I was nervous at the thought
and yet this
How Is Beyonce Unique
BeyoncГ© Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, TX on September 4, 1981 to
Tina and Mathew Knowles. Her parents weren t famous at all, her mother did for a
living and her father was a sales manager. At a very young age, she attended a
catholic school. There, she knew she had vocal abilities and she learned how to
dance. Once she could start school in 1990, she attended Parker Elementary. This is
the school, that s known for its students being musically talented. As a child,
BeyoncГ© signed up to audition for a group that consisted of only girls. She was
then assigned to the group called Girl s Tyme with a couple of other young girls. In
that group, was her cousin, Kelly Rowland, her friend, LaTavia Robertson and
another friend. With her group, she competed and won various competitions in her
local community with her vocals and how she would dance. In 1993, her group,

Using Moving Averages in Stock Trading
A way to use moving averages is to use them as dynamic support and resistanceWe
like to call it dynamic because it s not like your traditional horizontal suppo
resistance lines. They are constantly changing depending on recent price
action. There are many traders out there who look at these moving averages as key
sup resistance. These traders will buy when price dips and tests the moving averagif
price rises and touches the moving average. Watch the blue line as support.
It looks like it held really well! Every time price approached 20 EMA and tested it, it
acted as resistance and price bounced back down. Amazing, huh?
One thing you should keep in mind is that these are just like your normal support and
resistance lines. This means that price won t always bounce perfectly from the
moving average. Sometimes it will go past it a little bit before heading back in the
direction of the trend.
There are also times when price will blast past it altogether. What some traders do
is that they pop on two moving averages, and only buy or sell once price is in the
middle of the space between the two moving averages. You could call this area the
zone .(figure 11) In an uptrend, as with an uptrend line, the moving average line
shows more instances where the average coincided with or acted as, support and in a
downtrend, similar to what happens using a down trend line, there are many
instances where the moving average coincided with resistance.
There are some traders who use intraday
Comparing Jefferson And Meriwether Lewis
In 1803, Thomas Jefferson enlisted in the help of his secretary, Meriwether Lewis
to explore the newly purchased Louisiana. Jefferson wanted to find out if there
were any possible water routes to the Pacific, as well as beyond the Rocky
Mountains in the west. Lewis couldn t go alone, however, even though he was
known for being an intelligent, and literate man, as well as being an experienced
frontiersman. Therefore, Lewis asked Jefferson if a man known as William Clark
could be a part of the exploration. Clark was an even more experienced draftsman
and frontiersman than Lewis. Jefferson approved of the duo and believed that the
men would find Wolly Mammoths, volcanoes, and a mountain of salt. Thus, Jefferson

Homelessness in Cincinnati Essay
In Ohio (The Tri state), and over the last 17 years, there has been a 160%
population increase. Homelessness has become a problem in the city of Cincinnati.
Many families are homeless because of job layoffs and exhausted unemployment

family and pay for adequate housing. Young single mothers can receive welfare
benefits (Aid for Dependent Children) for 36 months. During that time they are
supposed to be furthering their education or preparing to go to work. If neither is
accomplished, the mother will receive medical for the children and food stamps

Although organizations are working with the Cincinnati Interfaith Worker Center in

with less dignity and have the lowest most devastating working conditions.

  • 2. Jasper Short Stories Jasper s eyes snapped open as he awoke with a start. He could ve sworn he heard a noise. He shook it off, and rolled over to check the time. 4:37 am. He sighed, climbing out of bed to get a drink of water for his parched mouth. He passed his window, and had to do a double take. The city, his city, was in ruins. The sky was fire, the air was ashen. He whirled around, pulling on jeans and a t shirt. As he was grabbing his pilot s goggles, Jasper s vision swirled as he realized exactly what was going on. It dawned on him that the scene he had witnessed outside of his bedroom window was Chicago being bombed. He ran to his door, only to touch his door handle and yank his burned hand back. There must ve been a bomb nearby, the sheer force of it must ve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He turned around, and that was when he saw it. There was no doubt about it. The man, if one could even call it that, was large and bulky, and smelled of ash and blood. Jasper bit the inside of his cheek so hard he could taste something metallic inside his mouth. Without wasting another precious moment, Jasper turned on his heel and took off. He was sure he could hear the stranger s feet pounding on the damp soil. He knew the man was weighed down by all the fur pelts of the animals he had probably maimed and killed, but Jasper could tell he was close behind from the pure stink of his ripe body odor. His eardrums were filled with the sound of his pumping blood and his own panting breath. He thought he was going to make it, he truly did. His hopes died, however, when he felt something grab at the back of his torn and bloodied clothes. Jasper cried out as he felt blunt fingernails scrape at the back of his neck before grabbing hold of his shirt and yanking him back. He could feel his skin tear as a particularly sharp branch sliced his abdomen clean across. He knew it was a shallow laceration, but his vision still fogged up, his body threatening unconsciousness due to the sheer amount of pain it was in. Jasper fought it, though. His breaths were coming in and out too fast and too short, and he was fully aware that he couldn t keep this up much longer. His vision was darkening and he felt as though his body was collapsing in
  • 3. Matt Groening Research Papers Matt Groening is arguably one of the best cartoonists in the history of television. When people hear the name Matt Groening, they immediately think about the hit cartoon series The Simpsons or Futurama. However, not many people know much about Matt Groening as a person. Groening was born on February 15, 1954 in Portland Oregon. Groening graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland Oregon and graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. Right after Groening graduated from Evergreen State College, he started to make comic strips. In 1977 Groening made his first comic called Life In Hell. Life in Hell is a comic strip about two rabbits and two men who are constantly having odd adventures. Groening... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The show the Simpsons has certainly withstood the test of time. This year would mark the 18th anniversary of The Simpsons first airing on the Tracy Ullman Show. A once really short cartoon skit has turned into a half hour cartoon show, that has aired over 375 different shows over a course of 17 seasons, and there is no end in sight for the Simpsons to stop having new shows airing every Sunday night at eight o clock on the FOX network. Matt Groening spent couple of years studying science fiction in his free time. His study of science fiction gave him the idea to start a new cartoon series. Groening got together with the head staff writer of the Simpsons, David X. Cohen, to discuss the possible idea of creating a science fiction cartoon show. Soon after their meeting the animated show Futurama was born. Futurama is a cartoon show about a young man named Fry who was a pizza delivery boy in the year 2000. Fry ends up being frozen in time for 1000 years and he wakes up in the year 3000. Fry discovers a really distant relative along with a one eyed girl Lela and a robot named Bender. Together all of the characters go on various comical science fiction adventures. Futurama was a mild success, the show aired for four seasons on FOX. But, during the show s fourth season, the ratings began to drop significantly. As a result 20th Century FOX decided to cancel the show. Groening blamed the cancellation of Futurama on

  • 6. The Fellowship Of The Ring In the Fellowship of the Ring written by J.R.R. Tolkien and it reveals a new world of elves, magic, men, dwarves, hobbits, and other unworldly creatures. Middle Earth is the name of the lands every creature inhabits, and like our world, it is divided up and has different realms of elves, dwarves, men and so forth. Much to my surprise I enjoyed the book and found it was very intriguing. While I was reading further into the book I became more drawn into the plot and main characters. The Fellowship of the Ring is part of a trilogy and I would enjoy reading the other two books in the series. The story commences with a narrative speech spoken by Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of the Shire, and gives the reader the background of Middle Earth. Gandalfthe Grey is in the Shire and decides to visit Bilbo while he is getting ready for his 111th birthday, which commences the same night. During the birthday party Bilbo decides to play a little trick on his guests with his special ring and disappears before their very eyes as he slips on his ring. Bilbo runs to his home and packs up his belongings and departs for a journey, while he s packing Gandalf arrives to speak to Bilbo. Before Bilbo leaves the Shire, he leaves the ring and everyone of his belongings to Frodo. Frodo arrives back to Bilbo s home and sees Bilbo has left, and discovers Bilbo has left the ring for him. As he examines the ring Gandalf enters the room and speaks to Frodo about the origin of the ring and the dangers of
  • 7. Enervation In The Triumph Of Death Essay Drizelle Baluyot Enervation in The Triumph of Death In a perfect world, sickness and death no longer exist. Ideally, there would be wholesome bodies, pure souls, and a transcendence that takes human beings beyond the limits of their imagination. Although Giorgio Aurispa longs for this kind of transcendence, he has found that life was but a seething mass of impurity (104). Human beings have managed to find purpose in the midst of life s endless scheme of enervation through work, religion, responsibility, and community. However, this is not always the case for the privileged, which Gabriele D Annunzio blatantly addresses in his novel The Triumph of Death through Giorgio Aurispa, a 20 year old man who has become wealthy through inheritance from his uncle who has just committed suicide. Giorgio begins his journey towards enervation after no longer having need of these different spheres of life and instead, immerses himself with sensuality, materialism, and whatever pleasures his heart desires. Gabriele D Annunzio used Giorgio s ambivalence to demonstrate how his journey of enervation was birthed out of privilege. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With sickness and death constantly surrounding Giorgio, he wasn t able to get through life by focusing on other aspects, such as work, community, or love. Giorgio s tendency towards privilege led him to a prideful man, an unmoved Nietzsche superman who would not settle for less than the ideal. D Annunzio used The Triumph of Death as a pessimistic warning to the privileged that the obsessive pursuit of transcendence will only lead to a disappointment that has the potential to destroy a person s soul. Life is not meant to be experienced through an idealized lens, but through hard work, dedication, responsibility, community, and everything that gives life the fullness of
  • 8. Propaganda In The Nazi And The Rwandan Genocide Thee last couple of weeks we have been talking about genocide and the eight stages to identify it. We have also talked about three or four cases of genocide for example the Nazi genocide or the Rwandan genocide. And after looking over the stories and comparing them they all have many commonalties either in their planning or in the actions that they all took throughout the genocide. Some of these commonalties are the usage of propaganda as recruitment, the planning of the genocides, and finally hatred towards a certain race or religion. How propaganda was a major commonality is in the Nazi and the Cambodian genocide both were very repetitive with sayings or images using it as recruitment or a support method. Secondly the Nazis and the Rwandan genocidewere similar because they both used their propaganda to dehumanize the enemies, convince their soldiers who the enemy was, and that killing the enemy was the only way to go. All the genocides on the other hand have the commonality of using propaganda to build up hate for the group that they wished to kill or wipe out.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good example is the killings in all the genocides didn t just happen in one day they were executed in small episodes. Another reason planning was a major part is the Hutus nor did the Nazis just choose a random group of people to kill they thought about who they wanted to attack. Finally planning is a major part in genocide because you can t just go into a fight without a plan they had to strategically plan out when and how they were going to attack the group they were fighting against. For example the concentration camps weren t just randomly found the Nazis built them certain ways for the different ways they were going to kill the
  • 9. Bernanke on Bernanke Essay In a recent article in Bloomberg, reporter Jeannine Aversa gives some history and advice for Ben Bernanke, Fed Chief from Ben Bernanke the scholar. Ben s advice in a nutshell? Be bold. Ben Bernanke began his 4 year appointment as Fed Chairman and 14 year term on the Federal Reserve Bank s Board of Governors February 1, 2006 by President George H.W. Bush. He was appointed to a second term as the Chairman on February 1, 2010 by President Barack Obama. Dr. Bernanke received his B.A. in economics from Harvard in 1975 and a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979 (Federal Reserve, 2011). On his watch, the Fed has also had to purchase mortgage securities as well as government debt in an effort to revive the housing market and promote spending by Americans (Aversa, 2011). Another effort to promote spending by consumers was a payroll tax cut called for by Bernanke along with buying up $600 billion in bonds through an open market operation. When the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) wants to increase the money supply, they buy up government bonds from the public on the bonds markets (Mankiw, 2009). The result of buying bonds puts money in the pockets of the public, if the Fed wants to decrease the money supply, they sell off bonds. It is generally thought that when the public has more money available to them, they will consume more. This increased consumption should lead to an overall increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and expansion of the economy. GDP is the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time. GDP is basically the measure of a nation s total income and is an important tool in explaining a single society s economic well being (Mankiw, 2009). To some extent that was the case, consumption did increase for a short period of time after the Fed s Quantitative Easing (QE). 2010 and the first half of 2011, saw some good
  • 10. Case Study On Chimera 2.1 Multitasking Real Time Kernel Chimera Kernel differs from conventional operating systems since they provide constructs to control process execution as a function of time (real time kernel). The kernel provides task and memory management, flexible scheduling, user space system calls to reduce operating system overhead, virtual timers, and a variety of communication and synchronization mechanisms. Chimera was intended to adopt most of the features of a multi tasking operating system while keeping the response time low, a typical characteristic of a real time system. Many of the information resources that are made available and maintained in distributed systems have a high intrinsic value to their users. Their security is therefore of considerable importance. Homeopathy In The United States According to WHO (world health organization) Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity . Parents are always concerned their child s complete health (physical, mental, social and emotional). As a homeopathic physician the question that most people often asked me why homeopathy is the best treatment option for kids? Homeopathy is an alternative branch of medical science that works on the basic principle of similia similibus curenter , means like cures like in another word, a substance taken in small amounts will cure the same symptoms it causes if it has taken in large amounts. • 13. Science Fiction And Cultural Values Science Fiction and Cultural Values Introduction Science fiction is a genre of creative writing which has stories that are connected with the future of technology and science. This style of writing is often seen in graphic novels, fiction novels, television series, and in film. Some common portrayals of science fiction include time and space travel. At times, these stories feature life that is found on other planets apart from Earth. The tales are usually based on new technologies, different social systems and scientific discoveries. Science fiction may seem to be a fantasy because the technologies involved sometimes look unrealistic. However, that fantasy becomes a reality when it changes how people view their daily lives. History of science fiction Philosophical stories and texts from centuries ago have some imagery that relates back to science fiction. The stories imply that, even then, they predicted advances in science in future years to come. Religious poems and stories that talk about the creation or demolition of the universe have some elements that are like the elements of Science fiction. The powers used by science fiction can be associated with those of the gods during and before biblical times. An example of an old philosophical text which can be associated with science fiction is Plato s The Republic . The topics and adventures discussed in the text are viewed as a fantasy and do not seem practical in real life because they cannot be experienced using normal

Binge drinking in campus is universally recognized as misconduct, but the degree of its consequence is determined by the drinking belief of the drinkers. In certain occasions, such as birthday parties, binge drinking is inevitable. But if the college students hold the drinking belief that any immoral, illegal or dangerous activities should be avoided after binge drinking with their friends, in all probability, they would not suffer from the potential negative consequences. Another example is the heavy use of symbolism throughout the song. In the beginning, the dying swan is a reference to an inevitable fate that the female sees coming for her relationship. In the second version, the lyrics imply that the male character is better off without her by contrasting the word light to mean the male and darkness to represent the female. William Blake s Songs Of Innocence And Experience William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience, printed in 1794, represents the world as it is envisioned by what he calls two contrary states of the human soul (Greenblatt, 1452). This collection of poetry is accompanied by pictures, which create a mutually reliant relationship that allows for complete understanding of Blake s works. To read a Blake poem without the pictures is to miss something important: that relationship is an aspect of the poem s argument (1452). Overall, Blake s works in Songs of Innocence and Experience provides a greater understanding into human life. Through poetry, Blake juxtaposes the innocence of childhood with the corruption of adulthood. Thus, his work allows the reader to see situations from a double sided lens of innocence and then of experience. These two perspectives, known as the two contrary states of the human soul , are independent and each poem is accompanied by another poem; the poem Infant Joy is paired with Infant Sorrow and the meek Lamb reveals its other aspect of divinity in the flaming, wrathful Tyger (1456). In Songs of Innocence, published in 1789, celebrates the innocence and untainted nature of childhood but it also doubles as a warning to adults. It warns them that the corruption of society and culture is to come and in Songs of Experience, a state of being that encompasses the loss of childhood vitality and corruption caused by social and political influence. The innocence and experience that Blake

He said in one of his pieces that social fact must be studied distinct from the biological and psychological phenomenon. Social order is the trend of behavior being used to exercise power over another person. It has become rules and regulations that have been set up by some authorities to be obeyed by another group of people who are being undermined in a society, it is a situation that oppressed people and limits them from their liberties. When people go through these situations they cannot function the way they are supposed to function because they are limited by their freedom. Illinois: Right to seek counsel Mark Monsees Liberty High School AP Government 3A/B The right to consult a lawyer when being questioned by the police is a very important right as it could potentially save an individual from being convicted for whatever he or she has been accused of. The meeting on March 28th, 2017 was more of a formal setting with vocal discussions, however, the atmosphere surrounding the meeting was somewhat subdued compared to the other meetings I have participated in. The BOCC were more relaxed during this meeting and even joked with each other in a professional and polite manner. The audience, whom should be quite during the meeting, also laughed at the Commissioners jokes. When the audience participated as speakers the BOCC listened and then moved onto the next speaker. Both parties, the BOCC and the public speakers were polite and all speakers stayed within his or her allocated three (3) minutes timeframe to talk. I was unable to locate any news articles relating to the March 28, 2017, BOCC meeting. There were a few times throughout the meeting a commissioner asked the County Attorney if what was being requested was the first time or a different action taken by the Board than in the past. It seemed many of the new Board members wanted to ensure they were not changing policy or actions of previous Boards.
  • 33. Annotated Bibliography On Database Encryption 1. INTRODUCTION Database Encryption is one of the technique used for securing the data in database. This method transforms information on a computer in such a way that it becomes unreadable. So, even if someone is able to gain access to a computer with personal data on it, they likely won t be able to do anything with the data unless they have original data key, complicated or expensive software. The main function of encryption is essentially to translate normal text into cipher text. Encryption makes sure that data doesn t get read by the wrong people, but can also ensure that data isn t altered in transit, and verify the identity of the sender. Data Encryption method typically uses a specified parameter or key to perform the data transformation. Some encryption algorithms require the key to be the same length as the message to be encoded, yet other encryption algorithms can operate on much smaller keys relative to the message. Encryption is most used among transactions over insecure channels of communication, such as the internet. Encryption is also used to protect data being transferred between devices such as mobile telephones, automatic teller machines (ATMs), and many more. Encryption can be used to create digital signatures, which allow a message to be authenticated. When properly implemented, a digital signature gives the recipient of a message reason to believe the message was sent by the claimed sender. 2. THREATS TO DATABASE 2.1 Database Databases are the

This kind of society oppresses man s inborn thirst for knowledge and creativity, although one character still possesses the want for knowledge. Equality 7 2521 is the man cursed with the nature to want to know more, even though he is lashed he still persists on his quest for knowledge. What is Equality s motivation if not for joy, and it is not for the greater good for mankind? The simple answer may be curiosity, for no punishment could change him from wanting to know. Equality is motivated for multiple reasons, one being curiosity, the desire to create something to call his own, and to be part of the council of scholars. Curiosity killed the cat, but it is also the reason we are so technologically advanced today. A society without curiosity would have no will, no drive, and people would wander around without meaning. This trait, curiosity, is the basis of mankind. As shown in the book, Equality possessed curiosity. He said, But we loved the Science of Things. We wished to know. Although it isn t blatantly displayed throughout the film, Ron Howard demonstrates the importance of appearances in today s society through the subtle interactions between the on screen characters. Other key players were Keith Joseph and Norman Tebbitt (aka Lord Tebbitt). A number of large industries were privatised and trade unions were knocked down from their powerful positions. In the eyes of a Conservative, trade unions are disincentives for enterprise as they place too many constraints upon an employer, thereby damaging the economy. They also reduced a wide range of welfare benefits, and direct taxation on incomes. Instead, VAT was raised form 8% to 17.5%. This effectively meant that people were no longer taxed as much on their earnings, but were taxed more on their spending. This meant that people had a choice; they did not need to spend, they could save instead. Many people thought that this favoured the middle classes as they could afford to pay the increase on spending, whereas poorer people would not be able to pay this huge increase in VAT and would therefore not be able to buy things. Also, direct taxation on profits was reduced, thereby creating another incentive for the economy to perform well. As one can see; the Conservatives of that era stuck to their ideals and did not directly meddle with the economy. Instead, they altered the way taxation worked, and the power of trade unions to indirectly alter the economy. Health Financing Is Not For Effective Public Health Essay Health financing refers to the function of a health system concerned with the mobilization, accumulation and allocation of money to cover the health needs of the people, individually and collectively, in the health system... the purpose of health financing is to make funding available, as well as to set the right financial incentives to providers, to ensure that all individuals have access to effective public health and personal health care (WHO 2000). It is a well established fact that all countries must have efficiently organized and managed health financing systems in order to ensure human welfare. Or it can be simply said that without the necessary funds, no health workers will be employed, no medicines would be available nor will any health promotion or prevention activities take place (WHO). However it should also be noted that financing is not merely the generation of funds. It is one of the critical determinants that influence health outcomes in a country. It is mandatory to have a good financing mechanism in place to ensure equity and accessibility as well as to protect the majority of the population from catastrophic health expenditures. Even in a high income country like the United States, cost escalations have put even the basic healthcare inaccessible to several segments of the population, where carefully planned financing arrangements have not been implemented (HLEG Report on UHC 2011). This placed me in a position wherein I would have to tell the actresses, at least thirty years my senior and two astoundingly talented figures, what to do and how to phrase certain lines. Using Moving Averages in Stock Trading A way to use moving averages is to use them as dynamic support and resistanceWe like to call it dynamic because it s not like your traditional horizontal suppo resistance lines. They are constantly changing depending on recent price action. There are many traders out there who look at these moving averages as key sup resistance. These traders will buy when price dips and tests the moving averagif price rises and touches the moving average. Watch the blue line as support. It looks like it held really well! Every time price approached 20 EMA and tested it, it acted as resistance and price bounced back down. Amazing, huh? One thing you should keep in mind is that these are just like your normal support and resistance lines. This means that price won t always bounce perfectly from the moving average. Sometimes it will go past it a little bit before heading back in the direction of the trend. There are also times when price will blast past it altogether. What some traders do is that they pop on two moving averages, and only buy or sell once price is in the middle of the space between the two moving averages. You could call this area the zone .(figure 11) In an uptrend, as with an uptrend line, the moving average line shows more instances where the average coincided with or acted as, support and in a downtrend, similar to what happens using a down trend line, there are many instances where the moving average coincided with resistance. There are some traders who use intraday

The building will be renovated to a 160 room lustrous hotel, so that upscale workers can be near their jobs. In 2008, city council had limited jobs for human service workers for the people in over the Rhine. Over the Rhine is a small community in the heart and back end of downtown Cincinnati, known as the ghetto. It consists of poor people of all nationalities and in which most of the homeless live. Those who can only work part time, or have no transportation must car pool with someone or pay the
