Essays On Liberty
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Essays On Liberty" is undeniably challenging. It requires not
only a deep understanding of the concept of liberty but also the ability to articulate nuanced
arguments and perspectives on this multifaceted subject. Delving into the realms of political
philosophy, ethics, history, and sociology, one must navigate through complex theories and
conflicting viewpoints while maintaining coherence and relevance.
The difficulty lies not only in comprehending the various dimensions of liberty but also in
formulating original insights and interpretations that contribute meaningfully to the discourse.
Moreover, addressing the myriad implications of liberty – individual freedom, social justice,
governmental intervention, and more – demands a meticulous approach to research and
analysis.
Furthermore, the task of writing such an essay entails grappling with the paradoxes and
contradictions inherent in the concept of liberty itself. Balancing the ideals of personal autonomy
with the demands of collective welfare, navigating between the boundaries of freedom and
responsibility, and reconciling differing cultural interpretations of liberty pose significant
intellectual challenges.
Ultimately, crafting an essay on "Essays On Liberty" necessitates not only intellectual rigor but
also creativity in synthesizing diverse perspectives and constructing a coherent argumentative
framework. It requires the writer to engage critically with foundational texts and contemporary
debates while offering insightful reflections and potential avenues for further exploration.
In conclusion, while the endeavor to write an essay on this topic is undoubtedly formidable, it
also presents a rewarding opportunity to delve into one of the fundamental questions of human
existence. Through careful analysis and thoughtful reflection, such an essay has the potential to
contribute meaningfully to the ongoing dialogue surrounding liberty and its implications for
society.

Batman s Insanity In The Joker
The Joker, like many of the mentally unstable members of Batman s rogues gallery,
has an obsession. Scarecrow s is fear, Riddler s is proving his intelligence, Two Face
s is fifty fifty chance.
However, The Joker s obsession isn t about being a clown. The reason The Joker is
insane is because he s obsessed with being insane. The complete disregard for human
life. Trying to be fun and humorous in deadly serious situations. The strange
appearance. The crazed laughter. All things we d associate with insanity. And with
The Joker.
This is why it s so difficult to pin down his motives. It s why his backstory changes
on a whim. Why, to quote the DC wiki: One day The Joker may be a harmless
clown, on others he can become a crazed super killer. It s ... Show more content on

And yet, when Joker zigs, Batman zags. Where Joker is loud, Batman s stealthy,
Joker kills excessively and for fun and Batman tries to never take a life. Joker s
colorful and Batman s dark. Joker is funny and Batman is stoic.
And so, Joker starts to think, starts to obsess. If Batman s insane, why wouldn t he
kill people like any other madman? If he s insane, why doesn t he enjoy it? If
Batman s insane, why isn t he more like me?
Maybe.. maybe the reason why Joker can t break Batman is because Batman s
already been broken. Prehaps he s so far gone into madness he s come out the other
side. Maybe.. the reason Joker can t make him kill, make him sink to The Joker s
level, is because Batman sunk far past him long ago.
Of course, this is unacceptable to The Joker. Batman can t, he can not be more
insane than The Joker. And yet how many times has Batman stuck to his morals
despite near impossible situations? How many times has he resisted Scarecrow s gas
that should drive you insane with fear? How many times has he refused to kill Joker
after everything he s
Mill On Liberty Analysis
In On Liberty, J.S. Mill surveys the discord amid the tyranny of the majority and the
rights of the minority. In a democracy, these are both esteemed core values. As an
example, the issue of race relations in the United States of America has long been a
battle between legally sanctioned discrimination by the majority and the will of those
in the minority to fight for their liberty. In the 21st century, we are now witnessing
constant controversies between these age old problems of democratic society. From
gay marriage, and the associated rights of the LGBTQ community, to voter s rights
and a renewed need for equality of liberty among people of different creeds, sexes,
and races, the foundation of the issues never really changes, it is still... Show more

Nevertheless, Mill also added some ideas in the text that are not only inappropriate
but, in retrospect, seem harmful. For example, the belief that it was acceptable to
rule over a people because they were thought savages is just antithetical to his mostly
liberal thinking. Secondly, there is an air of elitism present throughout the work that
is not required. Of course, there will always be those who are less gifted than others
in certain cognitive respects. This does not mean that they should have less of a say
in how their society and individual lives are arranged. There is a delicate line to walk
on this issue (e.g. questions such as: what constitutes a rational human being? And:
who makes that decision?). These are subtle questions of distinction, and for the most
part, Mill appears to suggest that this is common knowledge or, that perhaps some
lower level of human beings exist that must be controlled by those more intellectually
gifted. Although it is not explicitly written in this context, the idea is still present
throughout the
Comparison Of Jules Ferry And Georges Clemenceau
Jules Ferry and Georges Clemenceau were two of the greatest proponents of the
Third Republic in France. They had been active even before the fall of the Second
Empire, with Ferry writing articles against the Empire in Le Temps (Encyclopædia
Britannica, 1998) and Clemenceau founding several Republican journals, and even
being present at LГ©on Gambetta s proclamation of the Third Republicin 1870
(Monnerville, 2016).Whilst it is clear that the two men were both staunch
supporters of a republic in the sense of government delegated to a small number of
citizens elected by the rest (Madison, 1787) their views on many aspects of the state
as a republic frequently clashed. This essay will break down the key differences in
Ferry and Clemenceau s positions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clemenceau is more tied to the theory of the ideal republic as espoused by J.S.
Mill, which states that in a representative democracy people exercise through
deputies periodically elected by themselves ultimate controlling power (1951 cited
Myo 2009). In this view, the politician is bound to the wishes of his electorate.
Whilst entrusted to make decisions on their behalf, they do so as a representative
and not as an autocratic ruler. Ferry on the other hand is closer to the theory of
Niccolo Machiavelli. This purports that the politician must act not as an extension of
the electorate, but as their leader, protecting them from the corruptions they see in
society (1987[1532] cited Myo 2009). Ferry is more akin to a Machiavellian
republican leader in his paternalism and his feeling that he has been elected to mold
the French nation into his republican vision as opposed to simply representing

the volume of sales in the month of September went down, and slowly went up

unusual behavior in September 1996 pulls our attention. For the first time in 4
years history we observe that the sales volume in September compared to August
sales went up by 11.7 % whereas in September 1993 they were down by 8.6%, in
September 1994 down by 15.3%, and in September 1995 actually down by 21.8%.

Essay On Cochlear Implants
A cochlear implant consists of an internal and external component. The internal
component is surgically inserted under the skin behind the ear, and a narrow wire is
threaded into the inner ear. Unlike hearing aids, cochlear implants convert sound
waves to electrical impulses and transmit them to the inner ear, providing people with
the ability to hear sounds and potentially better understand speech without reading
lips. Speech and language ability varies among individuals, with many cochlear
implant recipients developing age appropriate linguistic ability. Ability to produce
accurate speech, ability to understand speech and writing and reading ability have all
been studied. In May 1998, National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication
Disorders (NIDCD) had been demonstrated in the long term benefits of cochlear
implants that children were not limited to speech recognition. However, it would do

face where the implant lies. Individuals with abnormal formations of inner ear
structures are at a higher risk of meningitis, which is an infection of the brain s
surface lining, states the FDA. Meningitis is considered a rare but severe

surrounding the brain oozes out of the hole. It is also possible for the fluid in the
inner ear to secrete through the hole made by the surgeon to insert the cochlear
What Role Does Music Play In Early Childhood Education
Music is a core element of the human experience. Unfortunately, many people do not
realize what a vital role music plays in early childhood 121. Below, the early
childhood educators at Over the Rainbow Kids Place in West Henrietta, NY explain
three reasons music is important in early childhood education:
Encourages Creativity: Music is an imaginative art, so encouraging participation in
musical activities will help children develop robust imaginations. From composing
their own melodies and songs to discovering that everyday objects such as sticks and
pots can double as instruments, music provides children with endless opportunities to
develop their creative faculties.

The Day of the Locust Essay

When we look at the sky, what do we see? Stars. What would it look like if there

Galaxy, or M31. Scientists have been asking this question for decades, about how
likely it is, or if it will even happen at all! But some newer evidence to this dilemma
has revealed itself. Now that it is widely accepted as an inevitable fact, many
questions are being asked, such as, How probable is it? and one of the most asked

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason
to be organized is because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just
stuff homework in your backpack when your backpack is already full of papers,
then the next day you will have so much stress rummaging through your backpack
for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I have seen many people get written
up or even a detention because they forgot a book. Time management is key in
middle school. If you get homework from every class and it is all due the next day,
don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is single handedly the worst thing you can do in
middle school. Also don t procrastinate. Now this falls under the same category as
time management, but this usually has to do with projects, not homework, Let s say
Mrs. Delucia gives you a project to do over Christmas break, don t wait until the
last weekend before we come back to school to do the whole science project, If you
do two things will happen, one, you will have a stress filled weekend and that is
not good. Number two, you usually won t get a good grade on the project because
you rushed the project that was meant to be done over a span of two weeks, and you
decided to do it in two
How Water And Sunlight Affects Plant Growth
Review of Literature
Introduction How Water and Sunlight Affect Plant Growth
Photosynthesis is how water and sunlight affect plant growth. According to The
Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which
chlorophyll containing plants make carbohydrates from water and from carbon
dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This basically means photosynthesis is the
process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed food and energy using
sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight affects plant
growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive
energy and food.
Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially
humans. As stated before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and
energy, which helps them grow and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for
plants though. Plants produce various things we use in life such as wood, paper,
food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce for us. They produce
oxygen for all human life and other living things to breathe. Without photosynthesis
there would be little plant life. Without plants there would be little human life.
Therefore, photosynthesis is extremely vital for all forms of life.
The process of photosynthesis is pretty complex. Sunlight and water are both very
crucial elements of this process. Here are the steps of the photosynthesis
Relational Frame Theory And Cognitive Behavioural

There are two main theories applied to relationships, Social Exchange Theory and
Equity Theory underpin commonly used behavioural therapies such as Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy, Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Integrative
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. More recent studies in neuroscience and behaviour
and the importance of language have led to the development of Relational Frame
Theory and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as an alternative approach. In this
essay I will outline the relationship models comparing and contrasting them. I will

The four stages Sampling, Bargaining, Commitment and Institutionalisation describe
how a relationship forms and settles. The theory is predominantly behaviourist and
assumes that humans operate as rational beings making decisions based on costs and
benefits and that their decision making is motivated by the desire to get basic
individual needs met. The first stage in the model, Sampling, is exploring the costs
and rewards of various interactions through a number of different friendships and
relationships and observing various people in their relationships in order to discern
what works and what doesn t. Psychologists interpret the social behaviour of
adolescents and young people as they flit from one relationship/friendship to another
as this sampling stage in action. Bargaining is the natural progression undertaken as a
new relationship is under consideration. What s in it for me? If I do/give this what
will I get in return? At this stage attraction based around similar attitudes or
constructs are explored with a view to establishing the viability of a possible
relationship. Both parties might ask themselves Is it going to be worthwhile investing
in this? Commitment follows when the two parties know enough about each other to
develop the ability to predict each others behaviour and therefore elicit reward
/pleasure/satisfaction from each other. Institutionalisation is the
The Importance Of Authoritarian Government In South
Korea
Within the last few decades, the internal affairs in South Korea have been anything
but smooth. The public demand for a democratic future is prevalent, but it is
unquestionable that the authoritarian leaders and government have had a larger
impact that any democratic ones. The strong hand of leaders like Syngman Rheeand
Park Chung hee allowed South Koreato persevere through difficult times and explode
onto the international market. The measures leaders in the 60s, 70s, and 80s took to
get Korea to the position of wealth it reached have had some dire consequences that
are still felt today. There is no sign of stopping either, as the country has been
preoccupied with many other issues and has had democracy thrust upon them, leaving
many flaws in the system. The power vacuums, unbalanced social structure, and
violent riots have been constant effects brought on by the rise and fall of South Korea
s authoritarian past. This instability and volatile nature of modern South Korean
government and society is the most well defined and over arching theme caused by
authoritarian policies and decisions
Shorty after Korea declared its independence Syngman Rhee was elected their first
president by a wide margin. However, once he began creating legislation to extend
his presidency and silencing his opposition, it was clear that his rule would be an
authoritarian one. After the April Revolution, a clear precedent was set for

Tattoos In Jap The Tattos Are Discrimination In Japan
Irezumi
In Japan, the world can be written in diverse ways, but each with them have closely
different meanings. Irezumi, Horimono, and Shise all can represent the tattoo in
Japan. However, most of Japanese skin artists prefer the English word tattoo to
irezumi. The reason is not because the tattoos are considered to be unclean, but rather
they represent an identification or identity the association with the deviant
subculture. Therefore, as that reason having tattoos in Japan are considered
controversy.
For finding out why tattoos are discriminated in Japan, first people need to know how
the word irezumi originated from. Back to 1910, one of the well known Japanese
litterateur, Tanizaki, publicized a short story which named The Tattooer in English.
In the story, a gigantic spider was inscribed by a tattoo artist on a beautiful and young
woman s body. Since then, the woman s beauty takes a demonic and compelling
power and irezumi also takes a deep impression for Japanese.
The creation of the word of irezumi is just a beginning of the controversy. During
the Edo period, the city in Japan had a large population, and the crime rate followed
up. So, the government of Japanese began to punish the criminals by marking ink on
their bodies. Japanese authorities will according to the level of crime and the severity
of sentencing in the criminals arm, wrist, forehead or facial tattooed in a prominent
position. This action is named irezumi kei, with kei referring to penalty,
Database Management System ( Dbms )
A database management system or DBMS is a certain type of system software,
which is used for the creation, and management of databases. A DBMS serves for
multiple purposes but is mainly used to provide users and programmers with a
systematic way to retrieve, create, manage, and update data. A DBMS serves as an
interface between data and its end user, making sure that data is consistently
organized and remains easily accessible to users. DBMS s are vital to several
aspects of our technological world and are responsible for the data organization of
several thriving industries in this world including banking, airlines, wealth
management, manufacturers, credit card companies, and telecommunications. A
DBMS is useful for providing a view of data that can be accessed by multiple users,
from multiple locations at one time. A DBMS can act as a filter and can limit what
a user sees and also sets limits on how that user can view data. Users and
programmers are free from having to determine where the data is physically
located or on what type of storage media it resides because the DBMS simply deals
with all requests. The DBMS can give both logical and physical data independence,
which means that it can protect its users or applications from needing to know where
data is stored. Although a DBMS benefits several sectors of the world, they are by far
most beneficial in business organizations. Thousands of companies depend on
accurate recordings, updates, and tracking of their data
Cause And Significance Of The Triple Alliance
The Triple Alliance, which was also known as the Triplice was a secret political
and military alliance between the Germany Empire, Austria Hungary, and Italy
formed on 20 May, 1882 and renewed periodically until World War I. Germany and
Austria Hungary had been closely allied since 1879 while Italy desired support
against France shortly after it lost its North African ambitions to the French. Each
nation promised mutual support in the event of an attack by any other great power.
The treaty stipulated that Germany and Austria Hungary were to assist Italy if it was

Next, another cause to why tobacco is harmful, is because some mothers smoke
during pregnancy. When mothers smoke while pregnant, it can cause life
threatening issues for their child. A mother that smokes is much more likely to
give birth to a child with defects. Congenital heart disease is one of the most
popular effects (Banschbach 349). This is a problem because it is not only putting
the mother s life in danger, but it is not giving a baby the chance to be healthy and
free from defects; some of these defects could be entirely prevented by not
smoking. Not only does smoking cause heart defects, but it also can cause a lack
of oxygen and nutrition while the baby is in the womb (Banschbach 349).
Banschbach, found that many babies whose mothers smoke, are born too early,
and have a low birth weight, making it more likely the baby will become sick or die
(349). While these examples are the main effects, babies can also suffer from
simpler physical effects such as, a cleft lip or palate. Lastly, one of the most harmful
effects to a child due to smoking is the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
(Banschbach 349).
Consequently, the use of tobacco is not only harmful to the person consuming it, but
it also influences everyone

Sources Of Law And European Convention On Human
Rights Essay
Starting with the fact that sources of law in Wales and England are similar, there
are 4 sources of law, which are: Statute Law, Common Law, European Law and
European Convention on Human Rights. First of all, Statute law is a written law
passed by a legislature on the state of federal level. An example of it would be
В«Theft Act 1968В». It is the first and primary source of law and it is created by
proposing a Bill in Parliament. After three readings of the bill in House of
Commons and House of Lords and afterwards in Royal Assent is received and
approved, then it becomes a satute which must be enforced by courts. Secondly,
there is a Common Law. Common Law is created by judiciary and it is also known
as В«case lawВ». However, the Common Law could be amended or overridden by
Statute Law, EU LAW and/or Human RightsLaw. Third is European unionlaw. It was
created as a result of European Communities Act 1972. There are four principal
institutions, which are: The council of the EU, European Commission, European
Parliamentand European Court of Justice. They make the decisions concerning laws.
Finally, there is European Convention on Human Rights. It came into effect in
October 2000. It takes care about main provisions of the European convention of
Human Rights into the UK law.
Those sources of law divide in internal and external, Common and Statute are internal
while European Union law and European convention on Human Rights are external
laws. Internal laws refers to laws that

The Pros And Cons Of Military Intervention
Military intervention is defined as the deliberate act of a nation or a group of
nations to introduce its military forces into the course of an existing controversy. For
the most part, military intervention is focused on upholding basic human rights
throughout the world but, the idea of the military intervention itself is a controversy,
there is a constant debate on whether it is good or bad. Many people believe that
military intervention does more harm than it does good to all the countries involved
and is a violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, arguing that the
government is in place to protect its citizens from violation of their rights and from
domestic violence. Which being said is to be upheld by the police force and the

During his final days in office, President George W. Bush proposed to the United

Launch Angle Research Paper
Understanding Launch Angle and Why Hitters are Employing It
Meta Description A launch angle in baseball measures the vertical angle of the ball
as it meets the bat. Launch angles range from under ten degrees for ground balls to
50 degrees or more for pop ups. MLB statistics show that the best launch angles for
batters are 19 to 26 degrees. These angles result in more hits and homers.
A launch angle, in baseball, is the vertical angle measurement of the ball when it
leaves a player s bat. These measurements vary depending on how hard the bat
contacts the ball.
Analysts can figure out a hitter s viability by averaging their launch angle from all
his at bats. However, launch angles are also used to discuss pitchers, and what type
of contact the average batter can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This classification was created by Tom Tango, a baseball and hockey statistical
analyst.
A ball must have a speed of 98 mph (exit velocity) when it leaves the bat and any ball
struck at that speed with a 26 30 degree launch angle is classified as barreled. The
launch angle degree rises at speeds over 98 mph.
When the speed of the ball increases to 100 mph or more, the launch angle goes up
by two or three degrees until there s an exit velocity of 116 mph. At that point, a ball
with a launch angle of eight to 50 degrees is classified as barreled.
Balls classified as barreled during the MLB s 2016 season had a slugging percentage
of 2.386 and an .822 batting average.
Softball Barrels
A batted ball in softball belongs is barreled when the exit velocity is 67 mph or
more and the launch angle is between 20 and 38 degrees. Most softball fields have
a fence that s between 200 and 220 feet. When the fence is farther away, the ball
needs to be hit harder and the launch angle has a smaller window of

Deceptive Advertising
Deceptive advertising has been around since the beginning of time and still prevalent
today. Sometimes it is done unknowingly by an advertiser, however more often than
not; it is done with the intent to mislead the consumer making deceptive advertising a
relevant marketing ethics issue. Deceptive advertising is a growing trend among
business in our society. This trend includes directly trying to deceive consumers into
thinking that they are getting something great but in reality they are getting nothing.

According to the Better Business Bureau, an advertisement as a whole may be
misleading although every sentence separately is considered true. Second, the
Federal Trade Commission examines the misrepresentation from the view of a
reasonable consumer or particular target group such as the elderly. And finally, the
representation, omission or practice must be a material one . This means that if the
misrepresentation is likely to affect the consumers decision whether or not to use or
purchase a certain product or service, this is considered material since the consumer
may have decided differently if not for the deceptive advertising (Federal Trade
Commission, 1998[on line]). The 1990 s have brought on some new targets for
deceptive advertisers as well as a new focus for Federal Trade Commission and the
Better Business Bureau. The main target of the 90 s include: antioxidant claims, the
diet industry for misrepresenting weight loss claims, environmental or green

Capital punishment in the essays by George Orwell, H.L. Mencken, and Norman

subdue personal beliefs as the authors have illustrated. The pleasure of relieving

The uses of mind altering chemicals, H.L. Mencken s essay Hangings I have

The Basic Idea Of Science
THE BASIC IDEA
In the field of physical science it has been proved that absolutely everything can be
scientifically reduced to one ultimate invisible Essence, something which cannot be
contacted by the physical senses. It is therefore only reasonable to say that originally
everything must have, and still does, come from It. According to one s way of
thinking, different names are given to It: Energy, Principle, Universal Intelligence,
Universal Mind, Consciousness, Spirit, God.

That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being.
The Infinite cannot be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us.
Each and everyone is one with the infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to
this conclusion, then consider one question: Why did he say that when we pray we
should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with the infinite
One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my
insistence that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can
ignore the infinite One; they just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our
heritage, our inheritance and our inherent nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even
thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away.
One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being
[Acts 17:28] Jesus said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the
kingdom of God is within you. [Lk. 17:21] God would have to be very small to be
within all, and very large to include all. However, to resolve these two extremes, God
need only be infinite. Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his essay,

Research Paper On Coastal Erosion
Coastal erosion is an ecological hazard that has been occurring for centuries
however rising sea levels and increasingly erratic weather patterns have the potential
to advance the danger and destruction to much greater levels. While the enormous
wave action created by huge storms such as hurricanes is the most contributive to
coastal erosion, the normal but repetitive wave action against the shoreline is just as
destructive over the long term. Coastal erosion is the wearing away of land and the
removal of beach or dune sediments by wave action, tidal currents, wave currents,
drainage or high winds. The coastal land is made up of many and various types of
wetlands. Wetlandtypes found in coastal watersheds include salt marshes, bottomland
hardwood swamps, fresh marshes, mangroveswamps, and shrubby depressions known
in the southeast United States as pocosins. Coastal wetlands cover about 40 million
acres and make up 38 percent of the total wetland acreage in the conterminous United
States. 81 percent of coastal wetlands in the conterminous United States are located in
the southeast.

This chemical based erosion occurs only with certain types of rock such as chalk or
limestone, which are high in calcite. The acidity of the seawater causes a chemical
reaction in the mineral, eating away at it. Another form of erosion is abrasion. This
occurs when the sediment suspended in the water is thrown against the shore by
waves. The sediments grind against the land, weakening the structural integrity of the
coastline. Attrition is also a form of erosion. It s the continued wave action hurls
stones and other material at the land, which smooths and breaks up the rocks on the
coast, dislodging them from one another. These in turn collide with other rocks on the
Marc Antony And The Roman Empire
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to

funeral as if to solidify that Caesar has passed and the Romans should look forward
without nostalgia of gone by emperors. Marc Antony was a leader in the change of
the Roman Republic into the Roman Empirethat spanned thousands of miles in its
prime. Born in January of 83 BC to the gens Antonia, which was a prominent family
with both patrician and plebeian ties. His father was Marcus Antonius Creticus, and
his mother was Julia Antonia, a distant relative to Julius Caesar. (Life of Antonius

During this campaign through Egypt Antony came to meet Cleopatra for the first

that this meeting between the two is what sparked Antony s love and desire for
Cleopatra. While Antony was fighting in the East he was unaware of plot by the
First Triumvirate to take control of the Republic. Once the Triumvirate had
basically taken over the Republic for themselves Antony came to serve under
Julius Caesar in 54 BC. At this time Caesar was in the middle of his conquest of
Gaul during the Gallic Wars. While under Caesar Antony was noted as an
excellent military leader and strategist, because of this Caesar took notice of
Antony and the two became friends until Caesar died. After years in the conquest
of Gaul Antony was sent back to Rome to begin his political career as Quaestor in
52 BC as a member of the Populares faction. However, still assigned to Caesar s

This method can either stir up positive or negative emotions in the reader, but
either way its intent is to sell an idea, belief, a product, or to convince the reader to
pick a side. This commercial uses pathos in a couple different ways. Humor is the
most obvious way pathos is being used, it is the setting of the entire commercial.
When Wayne, Max, and his friend on the phone, Kenny, are saying, Whaaaaaat! , it
is meant to be silly and fun. It is even funny just watching them pour champagne on
their smartphones. Humor promotes laughter, and laughter releases endorphins in
our brain that trigger the happy feels, and puts us in a good mood. It is well
known, that if you can get the customer to laugh, then you are more likely to sell to
that customer because laughter helps them drop whatever guard they are putting
up. Another way this ad uses pathos, is by appealing to the fear of dropping our
phone in water and damaging it. We all can relate to this type of accident, and we
are always trying to prevent it, so we don t have to worry about forking out the big
bucks to repair or replace our beloved smartphone. In the commercial, Max pouring
champagne on his phone and it shorting out, is a perfect example of pathos, by
showing us that if you get your phone wet, it will damage it, unless you get the new

In life we adhere to certain standards established by society and follow a fixed set
of principles. However, I often find myself questioning what are principles and do I
really live my life by these principles. Professional Ethics as new as it is has

to situations and open mindedness. The content taught in class thus far has really
started a chain of thoughts for me personally, in the past I had never given much

The moral competency test(MCI) I completed in week one was a defining moment
for me because the results forced me to recognize certain behavioural patterns I
had fallen into over the years. My weaknesses that were reveal, genuinely took me
by surprise as I was not aware of most of them prior to taking the test. How does a
person like me who has considered themselves to be of high moral and high
principles go from here? It was hard at first for me to not sit and dwell on my
shortcomings and think that I was a bad person . In the past three weeks I have
come to the conclusion that the areas where I experienced inadequacies did not
equate to me being a bad person. Instead it was the result of falling into the trap of
societal expectancy. Everyone wants to see the world in a certain order and when
you find that it is not so, you rationalize by thinking that other people do not have the
same principles you do and somehow that makes you a lesser being. The reality of
the matter is that different people have different principles.

Historical, Social and Political condition
Athol Fugard was born into the era of apartheid. The Fugard family was known as
a very poor white family which affected the way he wrote his plays. Apartheid was
known as a time in South Africa when whites were separated from the non whites.
White people were known as the top dogs and the non whites were classified as the
under dogs in the Republic of South Africa.
Fugard was against apartheid due to the way he was living at the time. His father
worked amongst non whites and therefore made the poor Fugard family much like
the non whites. Fugard was completely against the apartheid and therefore, just like
his dad, Fugard worked with black actors in his plays. The Government did not like
what Fugard was doing, by working with black actors and therefore they punished
him at times by either banning his plays or confiscating his passport. Apartheid was
an era of violence and oppression. Oppression was part of the apartheid laws against
non whites. This caused most of the non white population to go on strikes and try and
fight their way through these ridiculous laws.
Fugard wrote about the unknown things that were happening during apartheid.
Fugard stood by the non whites side to help them fight, by producing his thoughts
onto stage.

The Political Structure Of The Libertarian Party
In a political atmosphere where it is easy to be grouped up in either conservative
or liberal, it is harder to see such an easy split more and more each day. Non
traditional candidates are now emerging into the political arena that in prior
elections would have been scoffed at. Whether we are talking about the unusually
high polling Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson, the Democratic Socialist Bernie
Sanders or the Authoritarian Republican Nominee, Donald Trump, It is getting
harder and harder to ignore the rise they are having. The two major political parties
will have to adapt to these emerging ideologies or face the threat of the dreaded
third party . Very rarely do third party candidates poll more than 10 percent but
Libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson, is doing just that (Russonello). The Libertarian
party as a whole has seen a recent rise in recent electionswith Gary Johnson being the
first third party candidate to be on the ballot in all 50 states in 20 years (Tau).
Despite the general public confusion on them their ideology is quite simple. The
general idea is that Libertarians are fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
Britannica defines Libertarians as, classical liberals who strongly emphasize the
individual right to liberty. (Encyclopedia Britannica). It is ultimately about giving
people the liberty to do what they want without hurting other people. The voting
record of Libertarians is generally easy to follow. If the policy limits the freedom of

Benzocaine Extraction
The purpose of this lab was to learn how to perform liquid liquid extraction in order
to isolate benzocaine and benzoic acid from a mixture. The initial mass of the
impure mixture of benzoic acid and benzocaine was 2.143 g. At the end of the
experiment, 0.244 g of benzocaine was obtained, and 0.411 g of the benzoic acidwas
obtained. The melting point range for the benzocaine was 88.6 degrees Celsius to

Celsius to 125.6 degrees Celsius.
The percent recovery of the benzocaine was 23.9%, and the percent recovery of the
benzoic acid was 40.3%. The student spilled the samples twice throughout the
duration of the lab, which is why the percent recovery turned out to be so low.
As for melting point ranges, the known melting point range of benzocaine was 88
degrees Celsius to 90 degrees Celsius. The known melting point range for benzoic

July 1968 is a symbolic date during Cultural revolution, when, student activists as
the ed Guards expanded their authority, and accelerated their efforts at social
reconstruction (Yuan Gao 122 132). They began by passing out leaflets explaining
their actions to develop and strengthen socialism and they even held public
meetings to criticize and solicit self criticism from suspected counter
revolutionaries (those who do not agree on Mao s revolution idea, especially those
who support the four olds ; old ideas, cultures, manners and customs. Here is
another reason why, Mr. Chiu could be suspected as an ex member of the Red
Guards. Even though, it is stated that the story takes place sometime in the post
Cultural Revolution period, bear in mind, that what the writer wants to stress is how
much the cultural Revolution affects the lives of the nation. The story somehow
borders between the present and the past . It is blend of what people have gone
through during the Cultural Revolution and the repercussions of the years after.
Geographical setting in Saboteur plays the significant irony. It is an element that
implies the state of the masses. Ha Jin, like in his other works, chooses China as its
central geographical setting. In this case, China is a crucial choice; based on a
chosen period, (post Cultural Revolution). The world focuses on the inevitable chaos
that the period has caused; not only to the citizens of
Causes Of Motor Vehicle Accidents
The Complex Role Introduction In the U. S., injuries that are related to motor
vehicle accidents are responsible for the death of more kids and young adults than
any additional one cause alone (The Community Guide, 2014). Additionally,
automobile collision is the major reason for death due to injury for individuals of
every age (The Community Guide, 2014). Roughly 33,000 individuals lost their
lives from being in an automobile accident in 2010 (The Community Guide, 2014).
This equals to 90 individuals every day. Also, a million other received injuries
from motor vehicle accidents that were not deadly, according to the Community
Guide (2014). Each year the expenses associated with motor vehicle accidents is
over 99 billion dollars in lost of production and medical expenses (The Community
Guide, 2014). The federal, state, and local government all play a role in the
prevention of motor vehicle accidents. Federal On October 15, 1966, the
Department of Transportation was enacted by Congress (U. S. Depart of
Transportation ([DOT], 2015). It was on the first of April in 1967 that the DOT
began its first day of officially being in operation (DOT, 2015). According to the
DOT, there mission is to provide service to America by making sure there is a fast,
safe, efficient, accessible and convenient system of transportation which meet the
standard for the interests of the nation that are vital as well as enhancing the quality
of life for individuals in America presently and in the
Workplace Discrimination And Its Effects On Social...
Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on
social cohesion and political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most
blatant forms of discrimination at work may have faded, many remain a persistent
and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more subtle forms. Every day,
around the world, discriminationat work is an unfortunate reality for hundreds of
millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay
gap between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also
persists, though older theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic
group over another have been replaced by allegations that foreign and incompatible
cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of national identities. New forms
of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual orientation have now
become cause for growing concern.
Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies,
for example, helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in
some countries. A few rise to the top of the social ladder, while most remain among
the low paid and socially excluded. Discrimination often traps people in low paid,
informal economy jobs. The discriminated are often stuck in the worst jobs, and
denied benefits, social protection, training, capital, land or credit. Women are more
likely than men to be engaged in these more
Relativism And Moral Absolutism
Moral Absolutism is concerned with right and wrong behavior. The absolute is what
controls whether the action or behavior is right or wrong. Therefore, from the
position of moral absolute, some things are always right and some things are always
wrong no matter how one try to rationalize them. Moral absolutism materializes from
a theistic worldview. Ethical Absolutists can condemn practices such as the Nazi
harassment of the Jews because Absolutist views give definite guidelines as to what
is right and wrong.
Moral Relativism is defined as the belief that conflicting moral beliefs are true. This
carries the impression that what you respect as a right behavior may be a right
conduct for you, but not for me. Moral Relativism is an attempt to ... Show more

Absolutists would have to condemn a mother who steals food for her starving
children because in their eyes all stealing is wrong, whereas Relativists can say
stealing is wrong usually but as the mother needed to feed her children, what she did
was right and should therefore not be condemned.
Absolutists can appear to be intolerant to views of others, for example, if they are
against cruelty of animals, they would be against the Islamic practice of sacrificing
lambs, but Relativists would be able to see the religious significance and the
importance of that practice to the Islamic community and will therefore not
condemn it. Moral Relativism is tempting as an easy choice. If someone says he or
she is a moral relativist about precise issues they perhaps have an underline principle
that is morally true everywhere and is not relative. However, trying to find those
underline principles is really hard.
The interesting logical discussion is between moral absolutism and moral nihilism.
However, morally this question is so hard that reasonably we may want to act like
moral agnostics. If we have this attitude a moral relativistic stance will probably be
the safest. If a whole group of people all think murder is fine and I think it s not,
then I ll give them the benefit of the doubt until I get really good evidence to the
Observation Of Observation At Starbucks
For this assignment, I decided to observe people s interaction in Starbucks at level
one of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), Indiana University. Starbucks is one of
America s coffee companies and coffee shop chains. Starbucks sells handcrafted
coffee, tea, snacks and many more beverages. I decided to go to do my observation
at Starbucksinstead of other coffeeshops because in my opinion, Starbucks is one of
the famous coffee shops among Americans so more people will come there to buy
coffee, to hang out with their friends or even just to warm themselves up from the
cold weather. Because of that, I went to observe students and other people who are
in Starbucks at IMU. At this Starbucks, there is a stage at the back of the coffee
shop for people to make performance and in between of the stage and the counter,
there are lots of tables and chairs for customers to sit down. For the purpose of
observing people s interaction, I sit at one of the tables in the middle between the
Starbuck s counter and the stage that were facing the Starbucks counter. By sitting
there, it made it easier for me to observe people at the counter and at the same time
looking and observing people that were sitting around me. I took my field notes by
using my laptop and draw the setting (IMU s Starbucks interior) by hand. The
weather outside was really cold and chilly, but it was warm inside the Starbucks. I
came to the Starbucks at 12pm on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 and it was
really noisy at that time. There were lots of students came in and out of the
Starbucks at that time and there are also a lot of people lining up to get their
orders. There were six Starbucks s workers and all of them were wearing green
aprons with a Starbucks logo on it with a matching green hat, also with a Starbucks
logo. Besides, there was a barista taking up customers orders (he is a black guy
with a long hair) while waiting in the line. At the counter, there were two cashiers
taking order (a man and a woman) and another four preparing people s orders, such
as making coffee and heating up pastries. Before I was sitting at the table, I ordered
a drink and I realized that one of the cashiers did not know how to handle the cash
register and asking another
Papilledema Case Studies
2. Case presentation
2.1. Clinical presentation and history
An obese 41 year old woman was admitted to Rasool Akram Hospital presenting
with a headache, blurred vision, anxiety, and mental depression. She had been treated
with acetazolamide for the management of papilledema, which was unsuccessful, so
she was referred to us. Her body mass index was 38 kg/m2. Her medical history
showed consumption of Fluoxetine, Inderal, Haloperidol, Desipramine, and Artan,
which were prescribed by her previous psychologist.
2.2. Diagnostic measures
A neuro ophthalmologist observed swelling in her bilateral optic disc. Visual field
perimetry and visual acuity were in the normal range. Other general and neurological
examinations did not reveal any abnormalities. The laboratory analysis of her blood
showed hyperglycemia due to unmanaged diabetes mellitus (FBS: 180 mg/dl, normal
range: 70 100 mg/dl) and hyperprolactinemia (Prolactin: 98 ng/mL, normal range: 2
29 ng/ml). A lumbar puncture was performed to evaluate her cerebrospinal fluid
(CSF). Although she consumed a 250 mg tablet of Acetazolamide every eight hours,
her lumbar puncture opening pressure was 33 cm H2O. Biochemistry and cytological
analysis of CSF were within normal limits (Protein: 10 ... Show more content on

Because of the misdiagnosis of LP shunt induced cerebellar tonsillar ptosis, she was
conservatively treated with medications, such as Promethazine and Trifluoperazine.
Her nausea and headache were exacerbated, and she was readmitted. Her computed
tomography (CT) scan of the brain indicated left frontotemporoparietal subacute
subdural hematoma with subfalcine herniation (Figure 3). In her second surgery, the
left parietal Burr Hole was performed, and the subdural hematoma was evacuated.
The post operative period was uneventful, and her symptoms disappeared. Her delay
brain CT showed relief of hematoma and herniation (Figure

Scarecrow s is fear, Riddler s is proving his intelligence, Two Face s is fifty fifty chance. However, The Joker s obsession isn t about being a clown. The reason The Joker is insane is because he s obsessed with being insane. The complete disregard for human life. Trying to be fun and humorous in deadly serious situations. The strange appearance. The crazed laughter. All things we d associate with insanity. And with The Joker. This is why it s so difficult to pin down his motives. It s why his backstory changes on a whim. If Batman s insane, why isn t he more like me? Maybe.. maybe the reason why Joker can t break Batman is because Batman s already been broken. Prehaps he s so far gone into madness he s come out the other side. Maybe.. the reason Joker can t make him kill, make him sink to The Joker s level, is because Batman sunk far past him long ago. How many times has he resisted Scarecrow s gas that should drive you insane with fear? How many times has he refused to kill Joker after everything he s
  • 3. Mill On Liberty Analysis In On Liberty, J.S. Mill surveys the discord amid the tyranny of the majority and the rights of the minority. In a democracy, these are both esteemed core values. As an example, the issue of race relations in the United States of America has long been a battle between legally sanctioned discrimination by the majority and the will of those in the minority to fight for their liberty. In the 21st century, we are now witnessing constant controversies between these age old problems of democratic society. From gay marriage, and the associated rights of the LGBTQ community, to voter s rights and a renewed need for equality of liberty among people of different creeds, sexes, and races, the foundation of the issues never really changes, it is still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, Mill also added some ideas in the text that are not only inappropriate but, in retrospect, seem harmful. For example, the belief that it was acceptable to rule over a people because they were thought savages is just antithetical to his mostly liberal thinking. Secondly, there is an air of elitism present throughout the work that is not required. Of course, there will always be those who are less gifted than others in certain cognitive respects. This does not mean that they should have less of a say in how their society and individual lives are arranged. There is a delicate line to walk on this issue (e.g. questions such as: what constitutes a rational human being? And: who makes that decision?). These are subtle questions of distinction, and for the most part, Mill appears to suggest that this is common knowledge or, that perhaps some lower level of human beings exist that must be controlled by those more intellectually gifted. Although it is not explicitly written in this context, the idea is still present throughout the
  • 4. Comparison Of Jules Ferry And Georges Clemenceau Jules Ferry and Georges Clemenceau were two of the greatest proponents of the Third Republic in France. They had been active even before the fall of the Second Empire, with Ferry writing articles against the Empire in Le Temps (EncyclopГ¦dia Britannica, 1998) and Clemenceau founding several Republican journals, and even being present at LГ©on Gambetta s proclamation of the Third Republicin 1870 (Monnerville, 2016).Whilst it is clear that the two men were both staunch supporters of a republic in the sense of government delegated to a small number of citizens elected by the rest (Madison, 1787) their views on many aspects of the state as a republic frequently clashed. This essay will break down the key differences in Ferry and Clemenceau s positions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clemenceau is more tied to the theory of the ideal republic as espoused by J.S. Mill, which states that in a representative democracy people exercise through deputies periodically elected by themselves ultimate controlling power (1951 cited Myo 2009). In this view, the politician is bound to the wishes of his electorate. Whilst entrusted to make decisions on their behalf, they do so as a representative and not as an autocratic ruler. Ferry on the other hand is closer to the theory of Niccolo Machiavelli. This purports that the politician must act not as an extension of the electorate, but as their leader, protecting them from the corruptions they see in society (1987[1532] cited Myo 2009). Ferry is more akin to a Machiavellian republican leader in his paternalism and his feeling that he has been elected to mold the French nation into his republican vision as opposed to simply representing

  • 12. How Water And Sunlight Affects Plant Growth Review of Literature Introduction How Water and Sunlight Affect Plant Growth Photosynthesis is how water and sunlight affect plant growth. According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which chlorophyll containing plants make carbohydrates from water and from carbon dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This basically means photosynthesis is the process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed food and energy using sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight affects plant growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive energy and food. Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially humans. As stated before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and energy, which helps them grow and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for plants though. Plants produce various things we use in life such as wood, paper, food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce for us. They produce oxygen for all human life and other living things to breathe. Without photosynthesis there would be little plant life. Without plants there would be little human life. The theory is predominantly behaviourist and assumes that humans operate as rational beings making decisions based on costs and benefits and that their decision making is motivated by the desire to get basic individual needs met. The first stage in the model, Sampling, is exploring the costs and rewards of various interactions through a number of different friendships and relationships and observing various people in their relationships in order to discern what works and what doesn t. Psychologists interpret the social behaviour of adolescents and young people as they flit from one relationship/friendship to another as this sampling stage in action. Sources Of Law And European Convention On Human Rights Essay Starting with the fact that sources of law in Wales and England are similar, there are 4 sources of law, which are: Statute Law, Common Law, European Law and European Convention on Human Rights. First of all, Statute law is a written law passed by a legislature on the state of federal level. An example of it would be В«Theft Act 1968В». It is the first and primary source of law and it is created by proposing a Bill in Parliament. After three readings of the bill in House of Commons and House of Lords and afterwards in Royal Assent is received and approved, then it becomes a satute which must be enforced by courts. Secondly, there is a Common Law. Common Law is created by judiciary and it is also known as В«case lawВ». However, the Common Law could be amended or overridden by Statute Law, EU LAW and/or Human RightsLaw. Third is European unionlaw. It was created as a result of European Communities Act 1972. There are four principal institutions, which are: The council of the EU, European Commission, European Parliamentand European Court of Justice. They make the decisions concerning laws. Finally, there is European Convention on Human Rights. It came into effect in October 2000. It takes care about main provisions of the European convention of Human Rights into the UK law. Those sources of law divide in internal and external, Common and Statute are internal while European Union law and European convention on Human Rights are external laws. Internal laws refers to laws that

Launch Angle Research Paper Understanding Launch Angle and Why Hitters are Employing It Meta Description A launch angle in baseball measures the vertical angle of the ball as it meets the bat. Launch angles range from under ten degrees for ground balls to 50 degrees or more for pop ups. MLB statistics show that the best launch angles for batters are 19 to 26 degrees. These angles result in more hits and homers. A launch angle, in baseball, is the vertical angle measurement of the ball when it leaves a player s bat. The launch angle degree rises at speeds over 98 mph. When the speed of the ball increases to 100 mph or more, the launch angle goes up by two or three degrees until there s an exit velocity of 116 mph. At that point, a ball with a launch angle of eight to 50 degrees is classified as barreled. This means that if the misrepresentation is likely to affect the consumers decision whether or not to use or purchase a certain product or service, this is considered material since the consumer may have decided differently if not for the deceptive advertising (Federal Trade Commission, 1998[on line]). The Basic Idea Of Science THE BASIC IDEA In the field of physical science it has been proved that absolutely everything can be scientifically reduced to one ultimate invisible Essence, something which cannot be contacted by the physical senses. According to one s way of thinking, different names are given to It: Energy, Principle, Universal Intelligence, Universal Mind, Consciousness, Spirit, God. That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being. The Infinite cannot be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us. Each and everyone is one with the infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to this conclusion, then consider one question: Why did he say that when we pray we should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with the infinite One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my insistence that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can ignore the infinite One; they just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our heritage, our inheritance and our inherent nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away. One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being [Acts 17:28] Jesus said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. [Lk. 17:21] God would have to be very small to be within all, and very large to include all. However, to resolve these two extremes, God need only be infinite. Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his essay, History: There is no great and no small To the Soul that maketh all: And where it cometh, all things are; And it cometh everywhere. When we envision a God that is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent we are thinking of the infinite,

This method can either stir up positive or negative emotions in the reader, but either way its intent is to sell an idea, belief, a product, or to convince the reader to pick a side. This commercial uses pathos in a couple different ways. Humor is the most obvious way pathos is being used, it is the setting of the entire commercial. When Wayne, Max, and his friend on the phone, Kenny, are saying, Whaaaaaat! , it is meant to be silly and fun. It is even funny just watching them pour champagne on their smartphones. Humor promotes laughter, and laughter releases endorphins in our brain that trigger the happy feels, and puts us in a good mood. It is well known, that if you can get the customer to laugh, then you are more likely to sell to that customer because laughter helps them drop whatever guard they are putting up. Another way this ad uses pathos, is by appealing to the fear of dropping our phone in water and damaging it. We all can relate to this type of accident, and we are always trying to prevent it, so we don t have to worry about forking out the big bucks to repair or replace our beloved smartphone. In the commercial, Max pouring champagne on his phone and it shorting out, is a perfect example of pathos, by showing us that if you get your phone wet, it will damage it, unless you get the new Galaxy S7

The initial mass of the impure mixture of benzoic acid and benzocaine was 2.143 g. At the end of the experiment, 0.244 g of benzocaine was obtained, and 0.411 g of the benzoic acidwas obtained. The melting point range for the benzocaine was 88.6 degrees Celsius to 90.4 degrees Celsius. The melting point range for the benzoic acid was 122.3 degrees Celsius to 125.6 degrees Celsius. The percent recovery of the benzocaine was 23.9%, and the percent recovery of the benzoic acid was 40.3%. The student spilled the samples twice throughout the duration of the lab, which is why the percent recovery turned out to be so low. As for melting point ranges, the known melting point range of benzocaine was 88 degrees Celsius to 90 degrees Celsius. The known melting point range for benzoic acid was 121.5 degrees Celsius to 123.5 degrees Celsius. The fact that in both cases the experimentally determined melting point ranges were very similar to the expected melting point ranges indicates that the benzoic acid and benzocaine were purified quite ... In regards to why the benzocaine was able to be isolated, the amine group that was present in benzocaine received a proton from the hydrochloric acid. This process ended up forming a water soluble salt. However, this salt was not soluble in dichloromethane. After that, the salt of the benzocaine became concentrated in the aqueous layer (which was on the top). In the bottom organic layer, there was benzoic acid and benzamide. After the organic layer was run through the funnel again, the benzocaine was removed. But in order to finish the job, sodium hydroxide was added to deprotonate the

July 1968 is a symbolic date during Cultural revolution, when, student activists as the ed Guards expanded their authority, and accelerated their efforts at social reconstruction (Yuan Gao 122 132). They began by passing out leaflets explaining their actions to develop and strengthen socialism and they even held public meetings to criticize and solicit self criticism from suspected counter revolutionaries (those who do not agree on Mao s revolution idea, especially those who support the four olds ; old ideas, cultures, manners and customs. Here is another reason why, Mr. Chiu could be suspected as an ex member of the Red Guards. Even though, it is stated that the story takes place sometime in the post Cultural Revolution period, bear in mind, that what the writer wants to stress is how much the cultural Revolution affects the lives of the nation. The story somehow borders between the present and the past . It is blend of what people have gone through during the Cultural Revolution and the repercussions of the years after. Geographical setting in Saboteur plays the significant irony. It is an element that implies the state of the masses. Ha Jin, like in his other works, chooses China as its central geographical setting. In this case, China is a crucial choice; based on a chosen period, (post Cultural Revolution). The world focuses on the inevitable chaos that the period has caused; not only to the citizens of

S., injuries that are related to motor vehicle accidents are responsible for the death of more kids and young adults than any additional one cause alone (The Community Guide, 2014). Additionally, automobile collision is the major reason for death due to injury for individuals of every age (The Community Guide, 2014). Roughly 33,000 individuals lost their lives from being in an automobile accident in 2010 (The Community Guide, 2014). This equals to 90 individuals every day. Also, a million other received injuries from motor vehicle accidents that were not deadly, according to the Community Guide (2014). Each year the expenses associated with motor vehicle accidents is over 99 billion dollars in lost of production and medical expenses (The Community Guide, 2014). • 44. Workplace Discrimination And Its Effects On Social... Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on social cohesion and political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most blatant forms of discrimination at work may have faded, many remain a persistent and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more subtle forms. Every day, around the world, discriminationat work is an unfortunate reality for hundreds of millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay gap between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also persists, though older theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic group over another have been replaced by allegations that foreign and incompatible cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of national identities. New forms of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual orientation have now become cause for growing concern. Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies, for example, helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in some countries. A few rise to the top of the social ladder, while most remain among the low paid and socially excluded. Discrimination often traps people in low paid, informal economy jobs. The discriminated are often stuck in the worst jobs, and denied benefits, social protection, training, capital, land or credit. Women are more likely than men to be engaged in these more
  • 45. Relativism And Moral Absolutism Moral Absolutism is concerned with right and wrong behavior. The absolute is what controls whether the action or behavior is right or wrong. Therefore, from the position of moral absolute, some things are always right and some things are always wrong no matter how one try to rationalize them. Moral absolutism materializes from a theistic worldview. Ethical Absolutists can condemn practices such as the Nazi harassment of the Jews because Absolutist views give definite guidelines as to what is right and wrong. Moral Relativism is defined as the belief that conflicting moral beliefs are true. This carries the impression that what you respect as a right behavior may be a right conduct for you, but not for me. Moral Relativism is an attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Absolutists would have to condemn a mother who steals food for her starving children because in their eyes all stealing is wrong, whereas Relativists can say stealing is wrong usually but as the mother needed to feed her children, what she did was right and should therefore not be condemned. Absolutists can appear to be intolerant to views of others, for example, if they are against cruelty of animals, they would be against the Islamic practice of sacrificing lambs, but Relativists would be able to see the religious significance and the importance of that practice to the Islamic community and will therefore not condemn it. Moral Relativism is tempting as an easy choice. If someone says he or she is a moral relativist about precise issues they perhaps have an underline principle that is morally true everywhere and is not relative. However, trying to find those underline principles is really hard. The interesting logical discussion is between moral absolutism and moral nihilism. However, morally this question is so hard that reasonably we may want to act like moral agnostics. If we have this attitude a moral relativistic stance will probably be the safest. If a whole group of people all think murder is fine and I think it s not, then I ll give them the benefit of the doubt until I get really good evidence to the
  • 46. Observation Of Observation At Starbucks For this assignment, I decided to observe people s interaction in Starbucks at level one of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), Indiana University. Starbucks is one of America s coffee companies and coffee shop chains. Starbucks sells handcrafted coffee, tea, snacks and many more beverages. I decided to go to do my observation at Starbucksinstead of other coffeeshops because in my opinion, Starbucks is one of the famous coffee shops among Americans so more people will come there to buy coffee, to hang out with their friends or even just to warm themselves up from the cold weather. Because of that, I went to observe students and other people who are in Starbucks at IMU. At this Starbucks, there is a stage at the back of the coffee shop for people to make performance and in between of the stage and the counter, there are lots of tables and chairs for customers to sit down. For the purpose of observing people s interaction, I sit at one of the tables in the middle between the Starbuck s counter and the stage that were facing the Starbucks counter. By sitting there, it made it easier for me to observe people at the counter and at the same time looking and observing people that were sitting around me. I took my field notes by using my laptop and draw the setting (IMU s Starbucks interior) by hand. The weather outside was really cold and chilly, but it was warm inside the Starbucks. I came to the Starbucks at 12pm on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 and it was really noisy at that time. There were lots of students came in and out of the Starbucks at that time and there are also a lot of people lining up to get their orders. There were six Starbucks s workers and all of them were wearing green aprons with a Starbucks logo on it with a matching green hat, also with a Starbucks logo. Besides, there was a barista taking up customers orders (he is a black guy with a long hair) while waiting in the line. At the counter, there were two cashiers taking order (a man and a woman) and another four preparing people s orders, such as making coffee and heating up pastries. Before I was sitting at the table, I ordered a drink and I realized that one of the cashiers did not know how to handle the cash register and asking another

Clinical presentation and history An obese 41 year old woman was admitted to Rasool Akram Hospital presenting with a headache, blurred vision, anxiety, and mental depression. She had been treated with acetazolamide for the management of papilledema, which was unsuccessful, so she was referred to us. Her body mass index was 38 kg/m2. Her medical history showed consumption of Fluoxetine, Inderal, Haloperidol, Desipramine, and Artan, which were prescribed by her previous psychologist. 2.2. Diagnostic measures A neuro ophthalmologist observed swelling in her bilateral optic disc. Visual field perimetry and visual acuity were in the normal range. Other general and neurological examinations did not reveal any abnormalities. The laboratory analysis of her blood showed hyperglycemia due to unmanaged diabetes mellitus (FBS: 180 mg/dl, normal range: 70 100 mg/dl) and hyperprolactinemia (Prolactin: 98 ng/mL, normal range: 2 29 ng/ml). A lumbar puncture was performed to evaluate her cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Although she consumed a 250 mg tablet of Acetazolamide every eight hours, her lumbar puncture opening pressure was 33 cm H2O.
