Essays On Human Trafficking
Writing an essay on the topic of human trafficking can be a daunting and challenging task. The
subject is not only emotionally charged but also deeply complex, involving various aspects such
as social, economic, and political dimensions. Tackling this issue requires extensive research to
comprehend the multifaceted nature of human trafficking, including its root causes, global
prevalence, and the impact on victims.
One of the difficulties lies in presenting a comprehensive overview while maintaining a focused
and coherent narrative. Striking the right balance between providing statistical data, real-life
narratives, and academic analysis is crucial to convey the severity of the issue effectively.
Additionally, delving into the legal frameworks, international efforts, and societal responses
demands meticulous attention to detail.
Moreover, the emotional toll of engaging with a topic as grave as human trafficking should not
be underestimated. Navigating through stories of exploitation, abuse, and violation of human
rights requires a sensitive approach to ensure ethical treatment of the subject matter. The writer
must remain objective while expressing empathy and raising awareness about the urgency of
addressing this pervasive problem.
Crafting a compelling essay on human trafficking also involves staying abreast of current
developments and emerging trends in the field. The dynamic nature of the issue demands that
the writer remains informed about evolving patterns, new legislations, and the effectiveness of
anti-trafficking measures.
In conclusion, writing an essay on human trafficking is no simple feat. It requires a deep
understanding of the subject, a commitment to ethical storytelling, and a continuous effort to
stay informed about the ever-changing landscape of this global challenge. For those seeking
assistance in tackling such complex topics, it's worth noting that similar essays and much more

Songs Of Innocence And Experience By William Blake
William Blake was an English poet and printmaker in the late 18th and early 19th
centuries, specially renowned for his poems published in a series titled Songs of
Innocence (1889) and Songs of Experience (1894) ( William Blake. ). Although in his
lifetime he was considered mad by British society and his works were neglected,
today, Blake is regarded as one of the original Romantic poets (G.E Bentley).
Furthermore, his works reflect the transition between the Augustan period and the
Romantic one; a time of rediscovery, inquiry, and individuality. The evolution that
gravitated away from the Augustan era (18th century) ( Augustan Literature. ). was
very much characterized by the political and economic changes in Great Britain; in
addition, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience, the poems selected in
themselves consist of differences in the manner human life is evaluated on earth.
William Blake s The Echoing Green , published in Songs of Innocence, conveys the
ultimate effect that old age and maturation has on human happiness, and the innocent
voice of childhood undisputed by the experienced voice of a veteran. Moreover,
Blake further enhances the importance of human growth by alluding to the
correlation between human life and the renaissance of nature, and develops the theme
of Nature and its similarity with the human life cycle. In contrast, London , published
in Songs of Experience, presents a different calculation of human life. The restricted
manner in which the individual leads their life under urbanization directly impacts
their satisfaction; the lack of communion with nature and pureness enhances the sense
of misery in the midst of a city. Furthermore, the similar literary devices used in
contrary poems will be examined in how different messages are conveyed but
ultimately allude to a mutual theme: the negative effects that industrialization has on
human life, as it is directly related to nature. It is important to note that although
Blake praises nature for its purity and nurturing, he
Globalization Vs Globalization
Twenty first century is defined by globalization, something Thomas L. Friedman
unquestionably agrees with in his book The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the
Twenty first Century. Globalization can immediately be correlated with businesses,
but such should not be the case in this circumstance. Globalization, as a matter of
fact, also takes its effect on cultures worldwide. For example, thanks to globalization,
western cultures are able to perceive the cultures of other countries around the world,
some of which are found to be exotic. However, when this occurs, there is a certain
concern that must be brought up: the issue with looking at the world from a western
lens. Chandra Talpade Mohanty writes in her work Under Western Eyes: Feminist
Scholarship and Colonial Discourses that the definition of colonization she wishes to
invoke here is a predominantly discursive one, focusing on a certain mode of
appropriation and codification of scholarship and knowledge about women in the
third world by particular analytic categories employed in specific writings on the
subject which take as their referent feminist interests as they have been articulated in
the U.S. and Western Europe. It is worth mentioning that the safety measure of
identifying the lens through which one looks at another cultureor subject is a
necessity. I, for example, can talk about the Western cultureand the Indian culture
without such notice because I have been indigenously part of both. However, the

(Draper para 5). Readers take notice of pictures prior to reading the text. Pictures
that can speak a thousand words can attract readers to the concern much quicker
than the text. Images will draw readers to explore the text. According to Weston, I
also believe that the power of photography lies beyond the technical excellence; a
photograph s true energy is found in the message it speaks (Weston para 15).
Weston has an important point in that a picture can tell a story and a document may
not be needed to support the image. Expressing images to citizens makes them
realize the problems going on in our environment. Draper believes that many
magnificent pictures can explode the fullness of our environment to the world. We
may never see the world identical to what it was before (Draper para 4). By
showing that threats to our environment, it can carry a message to our world. Draper
points out, It can transport us to the unseen worlds (Draper para 5). People will pay
attention to photographs more than taking the time to read a document that explains

I Hate U I Love U By Gnash
Music had been around for ages. It has revolutionized the way humans
communicate emotions or ideas through sequence of tunes, ranging from one key
signature to another. Overtime, music has evolved from having strict composition
rules, which are classical, to multiple genres that puts no limit to a composer s
creativity. Back then, only one type of music generally rule the music industry, but
today, there are countless types of music a person can explore and relate to. The song
I Hate U I Love U by Gnash was released February 17, 2016 (Wikipedia). The lyrics
was inspired by a very sensitive topic about a specific stage of a relationship; the
break up. The entirety of this track revolves around the emotional rollercoaster of
what maleand femaleusually experience after being separated from someone they
have committed themselves to. It illustrates the confusion that occurs during the
latter days of a relationship, the discord during the initially agreement of separation
and the disturbance it causes to one s personal life after the separation. Listeners of
this song were instantly captivated by the fluidity of the musical patterns and its
relatable lyrics. Gnash recorded this song with Olivia O Brien on 2015. He was not
able to release the music due to an issue that arose between him and his producer.
One big obstacle did not hinder him from releasing this song. It took one year for
Gnash to gather up enough resources to produce the song himself. Surprisingly, the
song was
A Drawing is a Line Going to a Walk
What is Drawing?
A drawing is simply a line going for a walk. Paul Klee (Klee, 2010)
Drawing is to create a picture, image or diagram with a pencil or pen by making
lines or marks on a piece of paper or other material. The common theory I have found,
after questioning several people on what their definition of drawing was, is that
drawing is a method to convey feelings or emotions onto a piece of paper, using a
pencil or pen so that others can see what they are thinking or feeling. This is correct
but is this the only way drawing is used?
Drawing has a vast variety of descriptions as to what they thought drawing was it
seems that there are three common usages ; drawing as an art form, as a tool for
communication or as part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drawing as movement implies that individual drawings are put together as frames,
and create something new and different from each individual drawing. It is
fundamentally different from the other three types of drawing, as it develops through
time therefore clarifying that drawing is a important piece of the animation process.
Most animations being with a script and therefore a storyboard is created, allowing
changes to be made before the next stage of sketching characters and scenes and of
course space. Applying Aesthetics touches can be done which are fundamentally
important as to the look and feel of the final animation. From this cells can be
drawn upon in order of sequence to be filmed and animated. Of course if a 3 D
program is to be used to finalise the animation then the concluding part of drawing
onto cells would not occur and the drawing portion of the animation would terminate
here.

what would seem like Isis dancing and moving around. Even earlier than this,
animation was attempted by cavemen, who would draw four sets of legs to depict
movement.

approximately 25 percent of total federal government spending to education. Public
education is free for male and female citizen children through the university level.
Beginning in the academic year 2006 7, expatriate students may, for a fee, attend

Nas The Water Cycle And The Climate Impact On Humans
Have you ever imagined seeing inside a hurricane? Would you like to be able to
predict the water cycle and the climate impact on humans? NASA has made these
opportunities possible through decades of hard work. NASA has developed rockets,
Mars rovers, and earth observing satellites. Their main objective, to serve the
American public, will improve the quality of life on planetEarth, which in turn will
strengthen the American Economy. Encouraging economic activity creates jobs
and helps generate tangible benefits for people. NASA technologies save lives and
makes our world a better place. said NASA Chief Technologist David Miller.
Unfortunately, people believe that NASA is too expensive. They want to cut back
the budget to save taxes, by passing a bill. Saving money wouldn t be a problem,
except that the money would end up going somewhere else in the government. It
won t stay in the tax payers pocket. The fundamental question comes down to this,
Should people s hard earned money go to a facility that works day in and day out
to return that money to them through economic development? Or should it be
added into another random budget because it has been complained that NASA is
too expensive? The answer is simple. There is not a single reason to cut NASA s
Earth Science budget. The bill will end up directly affecting the economy, people s
life style, people s safety, and scientist programs that are vital for keeping this world
alive and well. David Malakoff (

Banned Books On The American School System
Banned Books in the American School System
Literary works are the foundation for education and are crucial for multiple reasons,
some of which include that literature obtains a large variety of information that is at
times not accessible to students by computers and teachers alone. Another advantage
is adults and children alike improve their understanding and knowledge of certain
topics whilst improving their intelligence of the language itself. Banning literary
pieces of work is unjustifiable and proves to students that if something is not
agreeable within a book, shielding its contents is the next honorary thing to do in
order to prevent disruption. High schools should not ban books due to their
excessive profanity, violence, sexual content and unagreeable topics because this
restriction prevents young readers from developing a better understanding of the
society they live in, and could counter act a new change and lessons to be learned.
The Island Trees School District vs Pico was a court case that traveled all the way to

The higher the GDP the higher is the country s standards of living and the lower
the GDP the lower is the country s standard of living. According to (Abuqamar,
Coomans, Louckx, 2011), unemployment is an important factor in measuring
country s economic strength like GDP per capita. If the unemployment level is
high, then economic growth is very low because they have a negative relationship.
A sustainable growth accompanied by macroeconomic policies that promotes
employment will eventually cut down the level of unemployment in the economy
and growth is considered as a solution to decrease unemployment (Hussain, Siddiqi,
Iqbal, 2010). This is true because when government wants to increase output by
building infrastructures and the like. They create job opportunities for those who
are unemployed thus, alleviating unemployment in the economy. More people
will get jobs and earn to sustain their standard of living or even increase their
standard of living depending on their salaries. B. Average Years in School
Education is very important in everyone s lives. It is our foundation of knowledge
which will reflect us. Even though going to school and doing homework are
boring, we will still benefit from it because we learn and by learning we become
mature and responsible. According to (Weisberg Meltz), the higher the level of

Rhinosinusitis Essay
The most common organisms associated with adult bacteria rhinosinusitis are
Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenza (Arcangelo, 2013). These
organisms are the normal flora seen in healthy individuals, when over populated, they
invade the sinuses, causing acute rhinosinusitis. Morazella catarrhalis is mostly seen
in children. Other less frequently seen organisms are A Streptococcus, Chlamydia
pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes (Arcangelo, 2013).
Causes of rhinosinusitis may include: allergy, or hay fever, humidity, cold air,
alcohol, and perfumes (Arcangelo, 2013). Other risk factors may also include overuse

Symptoms relief is the key. Therapies to help relieve symptoms may include, aspirin
or acetaminophen for fever and aches, decongestants for stuffy nose or topical
corticosteroids (may alter the immune system s response to infection), antihistamines
are only recommended if the patient has allergies (Arcangelo, 2013).
Antibiotics treatment should be prescribed to patients who do not improve or have
worsening symptoms after 7 days of observation (Arcangelo, 2013). Antibiotics
should be considered if more than of the following symptoms are present: fever
102℉, pain, tenderness of the ears, sinuses, face, purulent color sputum, sore
throat, dyspnea, and pleuritic chest pain without any improvement for over 10 days
(Arcangelo, 2013).
Nonpharmacological therapy includes rest, proper hydration, hot shower, room
humidifier, and saline nasal flushes are shown to be helpful in relieving the
symptoms of rhinosinusitis (Arcangelo, 2013).
The goal of medication therapy is to decrease the duration of symptoms, prevent
compilations such as meningitis or brain abscess and acute rhinosinusitis becoming
chronic rhinosinusitis (Arcangelo, 2013).
The duration of the antibiotics should either be at least 14 days or 7 days after the
symptoms has resolved completely, whichever is the longer.

she watched movies, played games, and had tons of people to talk to. Then days
turned into weeks and the hospital begun to run low on food. She began to realize
that it wasn t all fun and games.

Also, with the popularization of cars and the construction of modern roads, rural
farmers were not limited to shopping by catalog. The American city was becoming

Scopes Monkey Trial Of The Century Essay
In 1925, the Scopes Monkey Trial captured national interest and the infamous
moniker Trial of the Century due to William Jennings Bryan serving as part of the
prosecution and Clarence Darrow serving as defense counsel to John Scopes with
the social divide between science and religion serving as the backdrop, a
controversy that has persisted to the modern day. William Jennings
Bryan(henceforth Bryan) was well known to the American people for his political
involvement with the Democrat party and his passionate speeches as a

for his work as an attorney regarding labor law issues and his work as a defense
attorney during the Franks murder trial, a trial that was also called the Trial of the
Century , where he defended Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb. Between the
involvement of these two titanic public figures, the social divide between science and

Challenges And Opportunities For Product Managers
Never in history has there been more challenges and opportunities for product
managers bringing new and innovative products to the marketplace. However,
competitive pressures in the form of economic and global shifts have made it more
difficult for product managers to respond to increased customer demands and
infidelity. Many product managers are asking; Are we building the right products
with the right features? Which features or technologies should I invest in or which
features should we cease? What should I end of life, and how can I better serve my
end user customers? All of these questions, while not new, are more complicated due

Above and beyond technology expertise, product managers must maximize their
limited budgets and resources from the start to ensure they have the tools to be
successful. Many organizations are turning to design manufacturers like Jabil to
enable their business to decrease production costs, increase capacity, and achieve
economies of scale they cannot attain themselves. Thereby reducing overall risk and
to ensure they can meet agreed upon NPI (new production introduction) schedules
and quality standards. Product managers must do more with less, be more informed
about the markets and technology they serve, and most importantly become
resourceful with both internal and external resources they engage to bring their
products to market. There are many reasons to work with a design manufacturer, and
each are definitely not created equally. Below are the top reasons product managers
should consider working with a to design manufacturer that has the expertise, scale,
and history to ensure success: 1.End to end insight into the supply chain One of the
key differentiators top design manufacturers leverage is their ability to have visibility
and insight into all aspects of the supply chain, especially when manufacturing goes
global. This visibility helps companies to understand their products demand,
inventories, service parts management, and the products overall viability. Finally,
when choosing a design
The Internet Plagiarism Explosion Essay
A great deal has been published in the media about the explosion of Internet
plagiarism among high school and college students. Because the Internet is so young,
there have been few studies conducted on the extent of Internet plagiarism. However,
existing studies do show that the Internet is an extremely popular tool students use to
cheat on written assignments. In any group of students, some will choose the path of
academic dishonesty and copythe words or ideas of another person without giving
credit to the author. The advent of the Internet has opened new waysfor students to
plagiarize written material. Not only can students copy material from individual Web

Some, including www.collegetermpapers.com, offer papers for free. (All of these
sites were found in a search for term papers using the Google search engine.)
Although papers are readily available for downloading from paper mills, the
quality of those papers is usually poor. An investigative report conducted by U.S.
News World Report evaluated the quality of four papers purchased from Internet
mills. University professors evaluated each of the papers and judged their quality to
be mediocre at best (Kleiner, 1999, para. 4).
Studies reach conflicting conclusions on the extent of plagiarism and cheating in
American high schools and colleges. An article in the Toronto Star cites a study
conducted by Who s Who Among American High School Students that found that
four fifths of high school students surveyed reported cheating (Walker, 2001, para.
28). The Center for Academic Integrity found that 72 percent of high school students
admit to serious cheating on written assignments and over 50 percent plagiarized
material from the Internet (CAI Research, 2001, para. 7). The Los Angeles Times
paraphrased the founder of the Center for Academic Integrity: Although a majority of
high school students admit cheating at one time or another, technological advances
such as the Internet have not had a significant effect on the overall number of

The Federal Reserve ( Fed )
The Federal Reserve (FED), is the central bank of the United States. It was created
by Congress to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable
monetary and financial system (Federalreserve.org, 2016). The monetary policy of
the US is governed by the FED, which assist in regulating the supply and demand of
moneyin the market. Interest rates are a very important tool of monetary policythat
economists use to achieve the targets defined for the country s monetary policy.
Interest rates have a profound impact on the value of the country s currency, inflation,
export competiveness and imports into the country. Interest rates also impact the
inflow and outflow of funds into or out of the country. Due to their wide reaching
impact on the economy, if the Fed decides to raise the interest rates at the end of this
year it will definitely impact several aspects such as consumer financing, annuities
values, the NPV calculation, the WACC and corporate earnings.
Effect of rising rates on the following:
Consumer financing for big ticket items such as autos and homes
Rates on mortgages and other types of loans have been fairly low, creating more
access to capital for businesses and making big ticket purchases more affordable for
consumers. If the FED raises the interest rate it will have several effects on the
consumer. It will reduce their purchasing power and consumers shopping habits will
be influenced. The decrease in purchasing power leads to a decrease in

cathedrals was the motivation that led to Brunelleschi s invention of the dome that is
used on a few cathedrals in Florence.
The questions that were asked were how are they going to build a dome that was
almost 150 feet across? How are they going to build this dome and successfully place
them from 180 feet from the ground? Would the weight
Anne Hutchinson Biography Essay
Anne Hutchinson was born in Alford, Lincolnshire, England. In 1591, in those
times the dates of birth were unclear, because they didn t have archives where they
could keep all the births written down, as today. As women used to give birth in
their own houses. But we know the date of her christening was on July 20, 1591.
Families didn t usually take a lot of time to baptized there kids, because on those
dates child mortality was very important so if it happened, they will go to the
paradise . So we can supposed she borne a few days, maybe a week earlier than her
baptism.
Her father was a dissident minister Francis Marbury ( discredited from the anglican
clergyman) and her mother Bridget Dryden.

Gender Roles Of Kurdish Women
The creation of YPJ/YJA STAR women guerilla units within the PKK ideology
creates a sense of freedom and a step towards liberation. It could be noted that the
transformation of gender roles within the Kurdish community, has transformed the
appearance of the eastern women as no longer the oppressed victim, in which today
the Kurdish female fighters are presented as a novel phenomenon (Dirik, 2015).
Conversely, the Kurdish women s freedom movement has been appealing in the field
of war since the 19th century, in which the world has largely ignored. The
intensification of the Kurdish female fighters in the movement can be understood as
a reaction against the western world, as it believes that imperialist states use this as a
justification to
Full Inclusion In Early Childhood Education
In early childhood, many five to eight year olds, are included in general education
classes for at least part of the day. School districts implement full inclusion. I could
not stress the enough. When I was younger in elementary school I had an IEP.
Having an IEP already made me feel like an outcast and having to go to a separate
room made that feeling even worse. I understand in some severe cases children
have to be separated. In my case I just need the teacher to go a little slower and
explain the concept a few times. The schoolshould have had teachers equip to handle
this situation. I did not need a separate room to learn the information I just need a
little help, which the teacher could have easily applied.

Electronic Technology In Marshall Mcluhan s The Medium
Is...
The major advances in civilization are processes that all but wreck the societies in
which they occur (A.N Whitehead). Marshall Mcluhan, the author of The Medium
is the Massage, would agree to this and add that electronic technology is reshaping
and restructuring patterns of social interdependence and every aspect of our
personal life (McLuhan, 8). He would argue that society has always been shaped
by the medium of the media affecting everything from government to family,
leaving no part of us untouched. Using the alphabet for example, is a technology
which is absorbed at a very early age in a completely unaware manner. Words and
the meaning of words predispose the child to think and act automatically in certain
ways (McLuhan, 8). McLuhan would add that electronic technology does this in
the exact same way, as it encourages unification, involvement, and commitment. As
we grow to learn more about each other, [w]e have become irrevocably involved
with, and responsible for, each other (McLuhan, 24). If we don t conform
McLuhan believes we will eventually enter into an Age of Anxiety , where we ... do
today s job with yesterday s tools with yesterday s concepts (McLuhan, 9). This
causes us to live in a rear view mirror society, and McLuhan says one must use tools
of the present to make sense of the present. George Orwellauthor of 1984 would have
a lot to say about this particular topic for instance, Who controls the past controls the
future. Who controls the
Women s Glass Ceiling Essay
Women are ready and able to occupy top executive positions. This was the case in
the inspiring story of Gert Boyle. When her husband died of a heart attack, he left
her with a debt ridden company and no knowledge on how to run it. In spite of
that, thirty two years later, she has turned Columbia Sportswear Inc. into a
successful outerwear company, competing with North Face and REI. She had to
make difficult decisions along the way, including once she had to fire 55
employees as a strategy due to low margin profits. Nevertheless, Mrs. refocused on
new ways to push the company forward by listening to her customers requests. Since
1984, sales have grown from $3 million to over $700 million (Ivanevich, 2002).

Almost half, 46.3 percent of the companies have no female directors, and 30
percent have no female directors. Despite increasing number of women in
corporate America, women are undeniably underrepresented in most powerful
executive positions (Gile Olivarez, 2009). Few lines about the work of author
Hilary Cosell (1985) who wrote the next few words, in her Book titled Woman on
a Seesaw: I think we re being terribly misled about how much success woman as a
group have achieved and about how real that success actually is. I think there may
bitter day of reckoning for many of us that s not too far off. A day where women
will say: I gave up my personal life, I destroyed my marriage, I did not have
children, I gave up this and gave up that and what was it for? I still have not been
able to achieve the way men do, in the same arena they do, the way I was told I
could. Let s face it: women are no longer disenfranchised, but we do not have
anything like the power of the white male corporate establishment. I do not know if
we will ever acquire that kind of power but if we do, it is not going to be anytime
in the near future (Morrison, 1992). The words of Hilary Cosell are indeed
discouraging but she seems to hit right on some of the issues that women experience
while placing themselves last. Subsequently, finding they are giving up, and /or
balancing family and career. Clearly, Mrs. Cosell struggled with the job
The United States Steel Industry
Steel has an intricate past and present. When scientist discovered how to mass
produce steel the moment marked the modern society s genesis. During that time, the
United States Steel Corporation dominated the steel industry. Today, the steel
industry sees competition not only from native business but from abroad as well. Steel
is used in almost every major commercial load bearing structure. Combined global
competition and mixed uses has increased the need for civil engineers to conduct
specialized research.
A Brave New World
The United States steel industry has a rich history. America started its love affair
with steel in the mid 1800 s when Sir Henry Bessemer of England engineered what is
today known as the Bessemer Process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States Steel Corporation led the field in steel production in early America.
As of 2015, the United States Steel Corporation is still a major player in the industry,
but they also compete against giants such as the Nucor Corporation, Steel Dynamics
Incorporated, ArcelorMittal USA and AK Steel Holding Corporation and the AK
Steel Holding Corporation. In all, there are approximately 50 major steel
manufacturers in the United States. Three quarters of these manufacturers hold
membership in the Steel Manufacturers Association. Collectively, these member
companies employ over a half million workers. The group works together to set
industry standards the server the interest of the public and its members. They regulate
steel industry policy in areas such as operations, environment, human resources,
safety and transportation. These industry regulations create a demand for civil
engineers who can carry out these objectives.
The Role of Steel in Modern Construction
Steel is a very versatile building material. Construction companies use steel in a
variety of settings. The most notable setting is in the building construction arena.
Steel serves as the backbone of some of the most strikingly beautiful structures in the
United States. Designing these buildings so that they are safe, to its occupants and
the environment is a formidable feat. These projects are so formidable that several
engineers may have to work on a single project within specialty scopes

By deleveraging over the years, DLM has decreased its debt levels, increased its
debt capacity and financial flexibility, and thus reduced the overall probability of
any financial distress. It also has shown steadily growing earnings and operating
cash flows which indicate that the company has the capacity to service any
additional debt and still remain a going concern. DLM operates in a stable and
mature industry of pet and food products which although affected by periodic
economic downturns are not cyclical or seasonal in nature. This means that the
company has steady stream of income round the year. The company is able to
generate these cash flows by a steady expense of capital that increased from
$96.7MM in 2008 to $104.9MM in 2010 (4.5% CAGR), and thus indicating a low
level of capital expense. Macro economic factors such as the downturn in the
economy could also mean that there are imperfections in the market due to which the
company is undervalued and is thus a ‘low hanging fruit’ with low
purchase multiples. Lastly, from a PE firm’s perspective, if it brought in
experienced people with the likes of Jim Kilts (ex P G, ex Gillette turnaround
strategist) on its management, it should be able to bring in the necessary
operational, financial, and governance expertise to DLM and turn it into a more
profitable organization by taking it private. All these factors made DLM a good
candidate for an LBO by a
Essay about Baldrige Criterion
To many people, strategic planning is something meant only for big businesses, but it
is equally applicable to any type of business entity or organization. Strategic planning
is matching the strengths of an organization to available opportunities. To do this
effectively, an organization need to collect, screen, and analyze information about its
environment. The organization also needs to have a clear understanding of its
strengths and weaknesses and develop a clear mission, goals, and objectives
(Wikipedia, n.d.). Acquiring this understanding often involves more work than
expected. The organization must realistically assess its current state and device a
plan of action to successfully make it better. So how does an organization gauge...

By clearly defining what their goals and needs are, both universities mirrored the
Baldrige criteria for strategic planning. Secondly, one of the ten questions asked in
Baldridge criteria for strategic planning is how do you ensure that financial, human,
and other resources are available to support the accomplishment of your action
plans? In other words, how do the universities convert their strategic objectives into
action plans through resource allocations? UC Boulder satisfied that question by
having approximately 300 employees in the Information Technology Services. In
addition, UC Boulder has also clearly defined how they will allocate their IT
resources to ensure they meet their strategic goals. According to the website UC
Boulder s IT allocation is as follows:
1. Campus programs and projects (28%)
2. Academic technologies and spaces (25%)
3. Support, operations, and services (including network and telephony) (42%)
4. Administration amp; support (5%)
With UC Berkeley, however, it paints a different picture. UC Berkeley did have an
IT allocation but they used the generic term resources throughout their strategic plan
and were not at all defined as compared to UC Boulder. Their means of resource
support simply stated: Researchers and research support staff across disciplines
require a minimum level of research support with technical compatibility to facilitate
research and the sharing of
Nuclear Deterrence And The Soviet Union
Nuclear deterrence was first identified in you during the Cold War between the
United States and Soviet Union. The United States and the Soviet Union both
assembled a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons. Beforehand the United States had the
upper hand with nuclear weapons, but the Soviet Union quickly emerged. It used this
threat of massive retaliation as a means to deter Soviet hostility. The Soviet Union
insinuated that there was in fact leeway or a chance that a probable nuclear war
could be fought and won. At this moment the United States decided to adopt the idea
of nuclear deterrence. To be more threatening and convincing to the Soviet Union, the
United States began to develop and deploy several different types of systems or
strategies that could be used to attack the Soviet Union.
During 1960s the United States had by then developed three systems as a basis of
strategic deterrence. These three strategies were long range manned aircraft that
carried nuclear bombs, land based large scale ballistic missiles with nuclear
warheads, and nuclear powered submarines on with nuclear ballistic missiles. This
new system became known as the Strategic Triad. Because of how powerful the
three strategies are, it will be almost impossible to destroy all three at once, so the
strategic triad was impervious.
In 1968 the non proliferation treaty was made up the objective is to prevent the
spread of nuclear weapons technology nuclear disarmament in general and complete

The more molecules that are able to escape into the vapor, the greater the decrease
in temperature due to evaporative cooling. Thus, a larger negative О”T
corresponds to a substance in which the IMFs are weak. A greater number of
electrons correspond to a great polarizability of a molecule. Greater polarizability
leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases, the number of
electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the
strength of the dispersion forces of the substance. 4. In Molecular Series II (Branched

Paralysis in Dubliners Essay
In his letters, Joyce himself has said that Dubliners was meant to betray the soul of
that hemiplegia or paralysis which many consider a city (55). The paralysis he was
talking about is the paralysis of action. The characters in Dubliners exemplify
paralysis of action in their inability to escape their lives. In another of Joyce s
writings, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young
Man, Joyce writes of Ireland: When the soul of a man is born in this country there
are nets flung at it to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language,
religion. I shall try to fly by those nets (Joyce 238). The characters of Dubliners face
similar nets that prevent them from escaping their lives. Unfortunately, their attempts

It is in this way that his fear of failure keeps him paralyzed in his unhappy life. An
additional example of paralysis through indetermination comes in A Painful Case.
In the story, Mr. Duffy pursues a relationship with a woman he met at an event. For
a time, this allows him to break from his monotonous life. The problem is, the
woman is married, and when the possibility of love comes in the picture, out of
fear Mr. Duffy decides to break off the relationship. This returns not only himself,
but the woman as well to the previous condition of paralysis and unchanging
dullness of life. Another common cause for paralysis would be bonds that tie the
characters to the city and their dull lives, preventing them from escaping. Nowhere
it seems is this more evident than in Eveline, where the main character attempts to
break free of her life and escape across the sea with a sailor named Frank. Yet at the
end of the story, as she is about to leave, she changes her mind and does not board
the ship with Frank. She clings to the pier railing like a helpless animal as she
watches him leave (Joyce 32). This action was caused partly by fear or rather
anxiety from facing a completely new and different life, but much more influential
was the bond that Eveline had to her family. Her promise made to her dying mother
to keep the home together as long as she could heavily weighs on her decision to
stay (Joyce 30).
The Great Smog Of 52 Research Paper
The Great Smog of 52 occurred in London from December 5th to December 9th in
1952. This was when a thick fog covered London with a mixture of black smoke
emitted from homes and factories, leading to a deadly smog (1). A severe cold
weather hit London in December 1952. The people in London burned more coal to
heat their homes because this is what they usually did when the weather became
cold. On December 5th, 1952, a layer of dense fog engulfed the city and stayed for
about five days. Since the air pollutants from the burning of coal were prevented
from escaping into the atmosphere by an inversion, this caused the fog to form. Most
of the people living in Londonwere not surprised by this fog since the city was known
for its pea soup fogs.
Gothic Process Research Paper
Gothic Process Paper Throughout history, the world has seen the growing influence
of Gothic literature as it has produced some of the most fascinating tales known to
man. Gothic literature, which first appeared in the late eighteenth century, typically
employs a vast atmosphere of darkness and mystery along with a melodramatic plot
to help further entice the audience. In the Gothic novel Sharp Objects, the author,
Gillian Flynn, uses various elements of Gothicism including mystery, a dark setting,
and psychological events to spur greater interest amongst the reader. Most apparently
used amongst the Gothic elements, in the novel, is mystery. Since problems always
start long before you really, really see them (Flynn 74) they are a mystery and... Show

The detailed setting established as it was May 12 but the temperature had dipped
to the forties, and after four days shivering in my shirtsleeves, I grabbed cover at a
tag sale rather than dig through my boxed up winter clothes. Spring in Chicago
(Flynn 11). The dreary and cold ambience illustrates a dark mood. The reader can
also see that these conditions are unfavorable and unwelcome through the sarcasm
of the narrator, Camille, when she states Spring in Chicago . The eerie diction and
imagery used to describe how Main Street was empty. No cars, no people (Flynn
19) create a dark mood. Desolation and silence depict an eerie atmosphere, which
is characteristic of Gothic literature. A, somewhat, supernatural feeling can be
inferred by the reader as it best describes the aura of Wind Gap, Missouri. A town
so suffocating and small, you tripped over people you hated every day. People who
knew things about you. It s the kind of place that leaves a mark (Flynn 39). This
description of Wind Gap makes it out to be an unwelcoming and frigid community.
Not only does this help the reader visualize the story, but it also aids in furthering the
feeling and tone of the plot. Although the usage of a dark setting and mysterious plot
play vital roles in developing the novel as Gothic literature, the inclusion of
psychological events makes Sharp Objects unique. Rather than just

False Alarm Creative Writing
False Alarm My lungs burned as I dashed vigorously through the streets of Venice.
Although I had only been living there for a few months, I knew it was a city I
could call home. A cool breeze replaced the warm, humid air of the shores. Clouds
engulfed the city in a thick fog. The sounds of ocean liner s foghorns bellowed in
the distance, echoing in the silence of the sleeping city. The waters in the narrow
canals shimmered under moonlight. I sensed the movement of something behind
me, but I carried on without checking, too petrified to discover what it could be. I
quickly turned the corner into a dark alleyway in an effort to lose whatever was
chasing me. Almost immediately, I watched as a dark shadow crept into the
alleyway in my direction. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. The figure
came closer and closer until I could smell the familiar, musky scent... Show more

was too little too late, and before I knew it, I had blacked out. I awoke to bright
lights, making it difficult to see my surroundings. I could feel the soft bed beneath
me forming to the shape of my body. The faint sound of a beeping heart rate
monitor replaced the silence of the room. As my vision cleared, I glanced upward
to see a group of concerned doctors conferring with one another. I tried to sit up,
only to realize that I didn t have the strength to. I became more confused and began
to desperately ask the doctors questions. What s happening to me? I cried in
confusion. I received no response. Nobody acknowledged that I was talking aloud.
Frantically, I attempted to ask a second time. Am I going to be
Thomas Jefferson s Monticello
Thomas Jefferson s Monticello is a great example of neoclassicism, the renewed
emphasis on the classics. Parts of Monticello that show ties with classicism are the
post and lintel style, the octagonal dome, and the combination of the two styles
(Greek and Roman).
Monticello is a beautifully designed house. In fact, it is Thomas Jefferson s house.
The most obvious of the styles in Monticello is the post and lintel/Greek style
temple. The front porch area of Monticello has four pillars and a pediment that rests
atop the four of them. The Greek temples also had this style. The famous Parthenon
was a full version of this Greek architectural form. Along with the Parthenon is the
Pantheon. The Pantheon is so much like Monticello. The Pantheon
Summary Of How To Paint A Water Lily
The poem How to Paint A Water Lily by Ted Hughes is a beautiful piece of work.
Just like a painter would put very fine details with every stroke of the paintbrush, so
does Hughes with each stanza to build this beautiful poem. Although the poem s title
makes the reader think the poem is about a water lily it is really about the
environment around it. Hughes uses personification to describe the scene the speaker
is witnessing in comparison of the water lily.
Ted Hughes used personification throughout the entire poem. Most of the
personification in the poem is based on the world around the flower instead of the
actual flower. In the fourth stanza, Hughes describes the eating habits of the dragonfly
by saying,
First observe the air s dragonfly That eats meat, that bullets by.
This means the dragonfly is eating insects that are flying by and is describing the
flying insects as bullets . Another example of personification in the poem is in the
thirteenth stanza. The thirteenth stanza says,
Which, deep in both worlds, can be still,
As a painting, trembling hardly at all.
In this stanza Hughes is describing the still sitting water lily in all of the chaos
around it by saying the flower is not trembling in the water as if nothing is happening
at all.
Ted Hughes may not mention the flower many times in the poem but he does
mention it at the beginning and the end. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker
starts to describe the leaves on the bottom of the water lily.

Lab Safety Code At Biosafety Labs
Chemistry laboratories pose a threat to the consumer; however, they also affect the
researcher. A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people
thought he was sickened with this disease because there was a SARS crisis all
around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs
to Improve Safety Practices, the researcher claimed that he didn t have the
background to understand how to handle dangerous agents. Due to the chemistrylab,
the researcher was injured. This then formulated an international problem in which
the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs.
Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to
perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death depending on how
potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen
many improper lab practices in which I helped teach people how to correctly
perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way
because acids may bubble and splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small
containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is
easier to spill the content from a big container into the small container, and to wear
close toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact
with skin. As one may see, there are very

Physics and Fish Bioenergetics Essays
Welcome to the world of fish physics. Many of us understand basic fish behavior
and can reach logical conclusions about where the best place to throw a fishing line
is. But when we don t think much further than that we are missing out on some very
interesting details of fish behavior. We can never fully understand why we find
some fish in one location and some fish in other locations until we consider the
concept of fish bioenergetics. Ultimately, fish behavior is a product of bioenergetics.
First, we will take a look at basic fish bioenergetics, understanding the underlying
quantitative principles. Then, we will look at some examples of how physical forces,
thermodynamics, and light characteristics are specifically related to fish... Show more

Energy expended by the fish depends on the velocity (flow) of the water and the
swimming capability of the fish. The fish must exert a force in the upstream
direction that is equal to the force of the water trying to push it downstream. When
the fish goes to retrieve a prey item laterally, it will have to swim faster than the
current. Getting a little bit more complex, we can consider Holling s disc equation
(Stephens and Krebs 1986) which can apply to any foraging animal. This equation
s most simplified derivation is R = О»e s/ 1 + О»h where R is the rate of intake,
О» is the rate of encounter with other prey items, e is the energy gain, s is the
search cost, and h is the handling time. This equation assumes that searching for
prey and handling prey are mutually exclusive activities. It also assumes that the
encounter rate will have a positive linear relationship with the time spent searching
for prey. For fish, many aspects of the physical environment can effect all of these
components. There are many physical factors that effect fish bioenergetics, such as
local hydrologic characteristics in a stream or river. However, not all of the physical
factors involved are especially obvious. We will look at three examples here. Water
velocity plays an extremly important role in fish bioenergetics. It effects components
that are detrimental to fish as
The Role Of Memory In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of
Wrath
Wendy seems to bare the brunt of Peter s memory loss in the novel. It is almost a
surprise that Peter has not forgotten her sooner, and in the beginning of the
adventure it appears that he almost did. He constantly abandons them for adventure
during their flights to Neverland and he often forgets who they are when he returns.
Wendy comments, And if he forgets them so quickly...how can we expect that he
will go on remembering us . Peter has a hard time remember people and events, but
does not seem to have a problem with navigating in and around the island. He flies
Wendy and her brothers to the island, and later directs them back to their house.
Navigation is a type of memory that Peter has retained, and he also does well
remembering his most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He questions, who is Captain Hook? and I forget them after I kill them . Despite the
obvious concern with a child killing another human, what is even more concerning is
that Peter kills and then forgets about it. A Freudian psychologist might suggest that
he is subconsciously blocking out the memory, but times are past that era, instead it
might just be that Peter cannot retain memory because he has no room to grow.
Peter never ages, and his playful face is the same throughout generations. While
Peter is blessed with never having to grow up, and therefore never having any real
form of responsibility, he is cursed with the inability to remember. Memories grow
with the individual, it takes place within time regardless of the duration and is
encoded into the brain likewise. The timeline in Neverland is unclear because years
or seconds may pass relative to the real world, but even if the time ratio was one to
one, there is without doubt that Peter s internal clock has stopped ticking. His past
therefore can be considered infinite because no one knows if he is twenty years old
or two thousand. Infinite memory is incomprehensible, as previously stated, as other
characters grow up in Peter Pan their childhood becomes merely snapshots. Peter
may not have the ability to retain memory because he can only live in the present.
For him to have memory of the past would suggest that he
The 2014 Isla Vista Massacre Essay
This past Friday of Memorial Day weekend 22 year old Elliot Rodger, son of the
assistant director of The Hunger Games went on a rampage in the coastal town of
Isla Vista, neighboring the UC Santa Barbara campus where six students were
murdered in total plus multiple injured by who the media and any mainstream news
station would label a very lonely and mentally disturbed young man. But you only
have to watch his final YouTubevideo called Elliot Rodger s Retribution to know
that he knew exactly what he was doing. In this chilling video he sits in his black
BMW expressing his clear superiority complex and sense of entitlement towards
women. He lays out his final plan saying On the day of retribution, I will enter the
hottest sorority... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At these camps, the vast majority of the female population will be deliberately
starved to death [...] A few of them would be spared, however, for the sake of
reproduction. These women would be kept and bred in secret labs . If you Google
Elliot Rodgers, majority of the articles will detract from the real issue, instead
focusing on how Rodger s might have had Asperger syndrome, and how this was
the real cause of the premeditated murders. Obviously though, violent misogyny is
not a symptom of mental illness. So it literally makes no sense to deny that
systematic misogyny had anything to do with Elliot Rodger s actions despite his
explicit statements pointing out that it did. His emphasis on how unacceptable it
is for himself to be a virgin at 22 years old reveals how bizarrely hyper sexualized
American society is in comparison to other countries. In Asian or Africa 22 is a
normal age to still be a virgin. Only in America is a young dude who has not scored
pussy considered inadequate in the social rankings until he s no longer a virgin.
Only in America does it this urge a man to go on a shooting rampage just because he
felt as if he didn t achieve manhood since no one wanted to sleep with him. People do
not want to admit that the basics of masculinity taught and deeply rooted into the
men and boys in our culture are eliciting patriarchal violence, because if they did it
would force them to change the way they think about their identity.

Enslavement Of The Slave Movement
Enslavement Resistance
Slave resistance began for many enslaved Africans before they reach the Americas.
Karenga explained the many arrangements in which Africans resisted to enslavement,
while in Africa, during the middle passage, and in the Americas. Employing the
Karenga text one can evaluate the different resistances that transpired in Antigua as
Cultural, Resistance, Day to Day Resistance, Abolitionism, Armed Resistance,
Revolts, Ship Mutinies, and Afro Native Alliance. One can conclude that enslaved
Africans had an unrelenting resistance to enslavement (Karenga).
There is evidence that confirms enslaved Africans were able to execute successful
ship mutinies, while at sea, and control their destiny by establishing maroon societies
wherever they landed in the Caribbean. These maroon societies would later act as
sanctuaries for escaped slaves throughout the Caribbean. In Antigua, one prominent
maroon society was located around the summit of Antigua s extinct volcano, Boggy
Peak now known as Mount Obama (Dash). Maroon societies allowed groups of
escaped slaves and their descendants to maintain a free community in close proximity
of society, but independent of European influence. Maroon communities developed
their own distinctive cultures. Since most maroon communities were founded by
African born people, they incorporated and preserved many aspects of African
culture, including language, religious practices, and craft styles (Jaede). All maroon
communities lived in

Introduction
The Internet is the technological genius of the computer age. Although the Internet is

Child Pornography
Child Pornography is the abuse of innocent children that has been put on display and
oftentimes sold for a profit. It is used largely by pedophiles to help lure other children
into illicit relationship situations that no child should ever have to endure. Because
the Internet provides global access, the number of sex offenders using this avenue has
dramatically increased, allowing them greater access to innocent victims.
Child pornography is illegal in the United States regardless of whether it is being
sold, viewed, saved on a computer or copied. Other countries have varying laws
regarding child pornography where it is illegal to produce it but not to have it stored
on a computer that you own. Although laws may be in place to protect against child
pornography across the global community, those laws are not always enforced. Some
countries have no laws at all against child pornography, making those countries a
haven for distribution.

Why We Should Distracted Walking Be Banned
Should Distracted Walking be Banned? I have injured myself multiple times by
walking into sharp objects I had not seen while looking down at my phone, and I
would like to prevent it from happening to unsuspecting citizens before something
even worse happens to them. Already, an excessive amount of people have
accumulated serious injuries due to distracted walking. There have even been deaths
because of this issue. Some people think that glancing at their phones for even a
second is harmless, but we should put a ban on distracted walking to avoid future
disasters. I believe that there should be a ban on texting and walking because the
amount of accidents would decrease, it will prevent drivers and pedestrians from
gaining injuries, but it will also make any city, especially a well populated one,
safe. With a ban on distracted walking, there would be a major decline of
pedestrian fatalities and injuries. In fact, according to the National Safety Council,
there were 5,987 pedestrian fatalities in 2016 the highest number since 1990 and a 9
percent increase over 2015. I believe that if there was a law against texting and
walking, those terrifyingly large numbers will shrink. Scholastic Scope s Would you

turns out our brains can t focus on our phones and our surrounding environment

Distracted walking is still dangerous. Also from Scholastic Scope Would you Ban
Texting and Walking?, In 2012, a 15 year old on her phone was hit by a car and
killed. (page 10) This is an important reason why the country needs a ban on
distracted walking, so further accidents like the previously stated can be

  • 1. Essays On Human Trafficking Writing an essay on the topic of human trafficking can be a daunting and challenging task. The subject is not only emotionally charged but also deeply complex, involving various aspects such as social, economic, and political dimensions. Tackling this issue requires extensive research to comprehend the multifaceted nature of human trafficking, including its root causes, global prevalence, and the impact on victims. One of the difficulties lies in presenting a comprehensive overview while maintaining a focused and coherent narrative. Striking the right balance between providing statistical data, real-life narratives, and academic analysis is crucial to convey the severity of the issue effectively. Additionally, delving into the legal frameworks, international efforts, and societal responses demands meticulous attention to detail. Moreover, the emotional toll of engaging with a topic as grave as human trafficking should not be underestimated. Navigating through stories of exploitation, abuse, and violation of human rights requires a sensitive approach to ensure ethical treatment of the subject matter. The writer must remain objective while expressing empathy and raising awareness about the urgency of addressing this pervasive problem. • 2. Songs Of Innocence And Experience By William Blake William Blake was an English poet and printmaker in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, specially renowned for his poems published in a series titled Songs of Innocence (1889) and Songs of Experience (1894) ( William Blake. ). Although in his lifetime he was considered mad by British society and his works were neglected, today, Blake is regarded as one of the original Romantic poets (G.E Bentley). Furthermore, his works reflect the transition between the Augustan period and the Romantic one; a time of rediscovery, inquiry, and individuality. The evolution that gravitated away from the Augustan era (18th century) ( Augustan Literature. ). was very much characterized by the political and economic changes in Great Britain; in addition, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Blake s Songs of Innocence and Experience, the poems selected in themselves consist of differences in the manner human life is evaluated on earth. William Blake s The Echoing Green , published in Songs of Innocence, conveys the ultimate effect that old age and maturation has on human happiness, and the innocent voice of childhood undisputed by the experienced voice of a veteran. Moreover, Blake further enhances the importance of human growth by alluding to the correlation between human life and the renaissance of nature, and develops the theme of Nature and its similarity with the human life cycle. In contrast, London , published in Songs of Experience, presents a different calculation of human life. The restricted manner in which the individual leads their life under urbanization directly impacts their satisfaction; the lack of communion with nature and pureness enhances the sense of misery in the midst of a city. Furthermore, the similar literary devices used in contrary poems will be examined in how different messages are conveyed but ultimately allude to a mutual theme: the negative effects that industrialization has on human life, as it is directly related to nature. It is important to note that although Blake praises nature for its purity and nurturing, he
  • 3. Globalization Vs Globalization Twenty first century is defined by globalization, something Thomas L. Friedman unquestionably agrees with in his book The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty first Century. Globalization can immediately be correlated with businesses, but such should not be the case in this circumstance. Globalization, as a matter of fact, also takes its effect on cultures worldwide. For example, thanks to globalization, western cultures are able to perceive the cultures of other countries around the world, some of which are found to be exotic. However, when this occurs, there is a certain concern that must be brought up: the issue with looking at the world from a western lens. Chandra Talpade Mohanty writes in her work Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses that the definition of colonization she wishes to invoke here is a predominantly discursive one, focusing on a certain mode of appropriation and codification of scholarship and knowledge about women in the third world by particular analytic categories employed in specific writings on the subject which take as their referent feminist interests as they have been articulated in the U.S. and Western Europe. It is worth mentioning that the safety measure of identifying the lens through which one looks at another cultureor subject is a necessity. I, for example, can talk about the Western cultureand the Indian culture without such notice because I have been indigenously part of both. However, the

According to Capture Mother Nature, These types of photographers take photographs of all aspects of nature, including scenery and animals ( Capture Mother Nature para 2). Bringing environmental awareness to citizens is another service of nature photography. Photographers use their work to show citizens the reasons why they should care about the environment. Professional photography captures pictures to inform citizens that there are threats to the environment. Pictures that can speak a thousand words can attract readers to the concern much quicker than the text. Images will draw readers to explore the text. According to Weston, I also believe that the power of photography lies beyond the technical excellence; a photograph s true energy is found in the message it speaks (Weston para 15). Weston has an important point in that a picture can tell a story and a document may not be needed to support the image. Expressing images to citizens makes them realize the problems going on in our environment. Draper believes that many magnificent pictures can explode the fullness of our environment to the world. We may never see the world identical to what it was before (Draper para 4). By showing that threats to our environment, it can carry a message to our world. Draper points out, It can transport us to the unseen worlds (Draper para 5). People will pay attention to photographs more than taking the time to read a document that explains risks to our

Overtime, music has evolved from having strict composition rules, which are classical, to multiple genres that puts no limit to a composer s creativity. Back then, only one type of music generally rule the music industry, but today, there are countless types of music a person can explore and relate to. The song I Hate U I Love U by Gnash was released February 17, 2016 (Wikipedia). The lyrics was inspired by a very sensitive topic about a specific stage of a relationship; the break up. The entirety of this track revolves around the emotional rollercoaster of what maleand femaleusually experience after being separated from someone they have committed themselves to. It illustrates the confusion that occurs during the latter days of a relationship, the discord during the initially agreement of separation and the disturbance it causes to one s personal life after the separation. Listeners of this song were instantly captivated by the fluidity of the musical patterns and its relatable lyrics. Gnash recorded this song with Olivia O Brien on 2015. He was not able to release the music due to an issue that arose between him and his producer. One big obstacle did not hinder him from releasing this song. It took one year for Gnash to gather up enough resources to produce the song himself. Surprisingly, the song was

Paul Klee (Klee, 2010) Drawing is to create a picture, image or diagram with a pencil or pen by making lines or marks on a piece of paper or other material. The common theory I have found, after questioning several people on what their definition of drawing was, is that drawing is a method to convey feelings or emotions onto a piece of paper, using a pencil or pen so that others can see what they are thinking or feeling. This is correct but is this the only way drawing is used? As of 2015, the United States Steel Corporation is still a major player in the industry, but they also compete against giants such as the Nucor Corporation, Steel Dynamics Incorporated, ArcelorMittal USA and AK Steel Holding Corporation and the AK Steel Holding Corporation. In all, there are approximately 50 major steel manufacturers in the United States. Three quarters of these manufacturers hold membership in the Steel Manufacturers Association. Collectively, these member companies employ over a half million workers. The group works together to set industry standards the server the interest of the public and its members. They regulate steel industry policy in areas such as operations, environment, human resources, safety and transportation. These industry regulations create a demand for civil engineers who can carry out these objectives. The Role of Steel in Modern Construction Steel is a very versatile building material. Construction companies use steel in a variety of settings. The most notable setting is in the building construction arena. Steel serves as the backbone of some of the most strikingly beautiful structures in the United States. Designing these buildings so that they are safe, to its occupants and the environment is a formidable feat. These projects are so formidable that several engineers may have to work on a single project within specialty scopes

It also has shown steadily growing earnings and operating cash flows which indicate that the company has the capacity to service any additional debt and still remain a going concern. DLM operates in a stable and mature industry of pet and food products which although affected by periodic economic downturns are not cyclical or seasonal in nature. This means that the company has steady stream of income round the year. The company is able to generate these cash flows by a steady expense of capital that increased from $96.7MM in 2008 to $104.9MM in 2010 (4.5% CAGR), and thus indicating a low level of capital expense. Macro economic factors such as the downturn in the economy could also mean that there are imperfections in the market due to which the company is undervalued and is thus a ‘low hanging fruit’ with low purchase multiples. Lastly, from a PE firm’s perspective, if it brought in experienced people with the likes of Jim Kilts (ex P G, ex Gillette turnaround strategist) on its management, it should be able to bring in the necessary operational, financial, and governance expertise to DLM and turn it into a more profitable organization by taking it private. All these factors made DLM a good candidate for an LBO by a
  • 28. Essay about Baldrige Criterion To many people, strategic planning is something meant only for big businesses, but it is equally applicable to any type of business entity or organization. Strategic planning is matching the strengths of an organization to available opportunities. To do this effectively, an organization need to collect, screen, and analyze information about its environment. The organization also needs to have a clear understanding of its strengths and weaknesses and develop a clear mission, goals, and objectives (Wikipedia, n.d.). Acquiring this understanding often involves more work than expected. The organization must realistically assess its current state and device a plan of action to successfully make it better. By clearly defining what their goals and needs are, both universities mirrored the Baldrige criteria for strategic planning. Secondly, one of the ten questions asked in Baldridge criteria for strategic planning is how do you ensure that financial, human, and other resources are available to support the accomplishment of your action plans? In other words, how do the universities convert their strategic objectives into action plans through resource allocations? UC Boulder satisfied that question by having approximately 300 employees in the Information Technology Services. In addition, UC Boulder has also clearly defined how they will allocate their IT resources to ensure they meet their strategic goals. According to the website UC Boulder s IT allocation is as follows: 1. Campus programs and projects (28%) 2. Academic technologies and spaces (25%) 3. Support, operations, and services (including network and telephony) (42%) 4. Administration amp; support (5%) With UC Berkeley, however, it paints a different picture. UC Berkeley did have an IT allocation but they used the generic term resources throughout their strategic plan and were not at all defined as compared to UC Boulder. Their means of resource support simply stated: Researchers and research support staff across disciplines require a minimum level of research support with technical compatibility to facilitate research and the sharing of
  • 29. Nuclear Deterrence And The Soviet Union Nuclear deterrence was first identified in you during the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Union. The United States and the Soviet Union both assembled a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons. Beforehand the United States had the upper hand with nuclear weapons, but the Soviet Union quickly emerged. It used this threat of massive retaliation as a means to deter Soviet hostility. The Soviet Union insinuated that there was in fact leeway or a chance that a probable nuclear war could be fought and won. At this moment the United States decided to adopt the idea of nuclear deterrence. To be more threatening and convincing to the Soviet Union, the United States began to develop and deploy several different types of systems or strategies that could be used to attack the Soviet Union. During 1960s the United States had by then developed three systems as a basis of strategic deterrence. These three strategies were long range manned aircraft that carried nuclear bombs, land based large scale ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads, and nuclear powered submarines on with nuclear ballistic missiles. This new system became known as the Strategic Triad. Because of how powerful the three strategies are, it will be almost impossible to destroy all three at once, so the strategic triad was impervious. In 1968 the non proliferation treaty was made up the objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons technology nuclear disarmament in general and complete

Thus, a larger negative О”T corresponds to a substance in which the IMFs are weak. A greater number of electrons correspond to a great polarizability of a molecule. Greater polarizability leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases, the number of electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the strength of the dispersion forces of the substance. 4. The paralysis he was talking about is the paralysis of action. The characters in Dubliners exemplify paralysis of action in their inability to escape their lives. In another of Joyce s writings, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce writes of Ireland: When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung at it to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets (Joyce 238). The characters of Dubliners face similar nets that prevent them from escaping their lives. Unfortunately, their attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in this way that his fear of failure keeps him paralyzed in his unhappy life. An additional example of paralysis through indetermination comes in A Painful Case. In the story, Mr. Duffy pursues a relationship with a woman he met at an event. For a time, this allows him to break from his monotonous life. The problem is, the woman is married, and when the possibility of love comes in the picture, out of fear Mr. Duffy decides to break off the relationship. This returns not only himself, but the woman as well to the previous condition of paralysis and unchanging dullness of life. Another common cause for paralysis would be bonds that tie the characters to the city and their dull lives, preventing them from escaping. Nowhere it seems is this more evident than in Eveline, where the main character attempts to break free of her life and escape across the sea with a sailor named Frank. Yet at the end of the story, as she is about to leave, she changes her mind and does not board the ship with Frank. She clings to the pier railing like a helpless animal as she watches him leave (Joyce 32). This action was caused partly by fear or rather anxiety from facing a completely new and different life, but much more influential was the bond that Eveline had to her family. Her promise made to her dying mother to keep the home together as long as she could heavily weighs on her decision to stay (Joyce 30).

This was when a thick fog covered London with a mixture of black smoke emitted from homes and factories, leading to a deadly smog (1). A severe cold weather hit London in December 1952. The people in London burned more coal to heat their homes because this is what they usually did when the weather became cold. On December 5th, 1952, a layer of dense fog engulfed the city and stayed for about five days. Since the air pollutants from the burning of coal were prevented from escaping into the atmosphere by an inversion, this caused the fog to form. Most of the people living in Londonwere not surprised by this fog since the city was known for its pea soup fogs.

Gothic Process Research Paper Gothic Process Paper Throughout history, the world has seen the growing influence of Gothic literature as it has produced some of the most fascinating tales known to man. Gothic literature, which first appeared in the late eighteenth century, typically employs a vast atmosphere of darkness and mystery along with a melodramatic plot to help further entice the audience. In the Gothic novel Sharp Objects, the author, Gillian Flynn, uses various elements of Gothicism including mystery, a dark setting, and psychological events to spur greater interest amongst the reader. The reader can also see that these conditions are unfavorable and unwelcome through the sarcasm of the narrator, Camille, when she states Spring in Chicago . The eerie diction and imagery used to describe how Main Street was empty. No cars, no people (Flynn 19) create a dark mood. Desolation and silence depict an eerie atmosphere, which is characteristic of Gothic literature. A, somewhat, supernatural feeling can be inferred by the reader as it best describes the aura of Wind Gap, Missouri. A town so suffocating and small, you tripped over people you hated every day. People who knew things about you. It s the kind of place that leaves a mark (Flynn 39). This description of Wind Gap makes it out to be an unwelcoming and frigid community. Not only does this help the reader visualize the story, but it also aids in furthering the feeling and tone of the plot. Although the usage of a dark setting and mysterious plot play vital roles in developing the novel as Gothic literature, the inclusion of psychological events makes Sharp Objects unique. Just like a painter would put very fine details with every stroke of the paintbrush, so does Hughes with each stanza to build this beautiful poem. Although the poem s title makes the reader think the poem is about a water lily it is really about the environment around it. Hughes uses personification to describe the scene the speaker is witnessing in comparison of the water lily. Ted Hughes used personification throughout the entire poem. Most of the personification in the poem is based on the world around the flower instead of the actual flower. In the fourth stanza, Hughes describes the eating habits of the dragonfly by saying, First observe the air s dragonfly That eats meat, that bullets by. This means the dragonfly is eating insects that are flying by and is describing the flying insects as bullets . Another example of personification in the poem is in the thirteenth stanza. The thirteenth stanza says, Which, deep in both worlds, can be still, As a painting, trembling hardly at all. In this stanza Hughes is describing the still sitting water lily in all of the chaos around it by saying the flower is not trembling in the water as if nothing is happening at all. Ted Hughes may not mention the flower many times in the poem but he does mention it at the beginning and the end. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker starts to describe the leaves on the bottom of the water lily.

A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people thought he was sickened with this disease because there was a SARS crisis all around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs to Improve Safety Practices, the researcher claimed that he didn t have the background to understand how to handle dangerous agents. Due to the chemistrylab, the researcher was injured. This then formulated an international problem in which the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs. Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death depending on how potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen many improper lab practices in which I helped teach people how to correctly perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way because acids may bubble and splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is easier to spill the content from a big container into the small container, and to wear close toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact with skin. Many of us understand basic fish behavior and can reach logical conclusions about where the best place to throw a fishing line is. But when we don t think much further than that we are missing out on some very interesting details of fish behavior. We can never fully understand why we find some fish in one location and some fish in other locations until we consider the concept of fish bioenergetics. Ultimately, fish behavior is a product of bioenergetics. First, we will take a look at basic fish bioenergetics, understanding the underlying quantitative principles. Then, we will look at some examples of how physical forces, thermodynamics, and light characteristics are specifically related to fish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Energy expended by the fish depends on the velocity (flow) of the water and the swimming capability of the fish. The fish must exert a force in the upstream direction that is equal to the force of the water trying to push it downstream. When the fish goes to retrieve a prey item laterally, it will have to swim faster than the current. Getting a little bit more complex, we can consider Holling s disc equation (Stephens and Krebs 1986) which can apply to any foraging animal. This equation s most simplified derivation is R = О»e s/ 1 + О»h where R is the rate of intake, О» is the rate of encounter with other prey items, e is the energy gain, s is the search cost, and h is the handling time. This equation assumes that searching for prey and handling prey are mutually exclusive activities. It also assumes that the encounter rate will have a positive linear relationship with the time spent searching for prey. For fish, many aspects of the physical environment can effect all of these components. There are many physical factors that effect fish bioenergetics, such as local hydrologic characteristics in a stream or river. However, not all of the physical factors involved are especially obvious. We will look at three examples here. Water velocity plays an extremly important role in fish bioenergetics. It effects components that are detrimental to fish as

Employing the Karenga text one can evaluate the different resistances that transpired in Antigua as Cultural, Resistance, Day to Day Resistance, Abolitionism, Armed Resistance, Revolts, Ship Mutinies, and Afro Native Alliance. One can conclude that enslaved Africans had an unrelenting resistance to enslavement (Karenga). There is evidence that confirms enslaved Africans were able to execute successful ship mutinies, while at sea, and control their destiny by establishing maroon societies wherever they landed in the Caribbean. These maroon societies would later act as sanctuaries for escaped slaves throughout the Caribbean. In Antigua, one prominent maroon society was located around the summit of Antigua s extinct volcano, Boggy Peak now known as Mount Obama (Dash). Maroon societies allowed groups of escaped slaves and their descendants to maintain a free community in close proximity of society, but independent of European influence. Maroon communities developed their own distinctive cultures. Since most maroon communities were founded by African born people, they incorporated and preserved many aspects of African culture, including language, religious practices, and craft styles (Jaede). Already, an excessive amount of people have accumulated serious injuries due to distracted walking. There have even been deaths because of this issue. Some people think that glancing at their phones for even a second is harmless, but we should put a ban on distracted walking to avoid future disasters.
