Essays On Climate Change
Crafting an essay on the topic of climate change is undeniably challenging, given the complex
and multifaceted nature of the subject. Tackling such a pressing global issue requires extensive
research, a deep understanding of scientific principles, and the ability to communicate
effectively to a diverse audience.
To begin with, the sheer volume of information available on climate change demands thorough
investigation to separate credible sources from misinformation. The dynamic and evolving
nature of the field adds another layer of complexity, as new studies and findings continually
reshape the discourse. This requires constant updating of knowledge to ensure the essay remains
relevant and accurate.
Furthermore, addressing the various aspects of climate change – including its causes,
consequences, and potential solutions – necessitates a comprehensive approach. Striking a
balance between scientific rigor and accessibility for a general audience is a delicate task.
Ensuring that the essay is not only informative but also engaging requires a skillful blending of
technical details and relatable examples.
The emotional weight of the topic also adds another layer of difficulty. Climate change is not
merely a scientific matter; it is a global crisis with far-reaching implications for ecosystems,
economies, and human lives. Conveying the urgency of the situation while maintaining
objectivity poses a challenge in itself.
Moreover, the essay must contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding climate change. It
should present a unique perspective or add value to the existing body of knowledge, making the
writing process not only about synthesizing information but also about contributing to a broader
discourse.
In conclusion, writing an essay on climate change demands a combination of research skills,
scientific understanding, communication prowess, and a sense of responsibility towards the
global community. It is an intellectually demanding task that requires dedication and a
commitment to raising awareness about one of the most critical issues of our time.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this challenging endeavor, it's worth exploring

Essay On Houston Environmental Issues
The City of Houston is a beautiful city that is known for its bayous, multiculturalism
and its importance to the US space program. It has also been known for its poor air
quality with the city ranking in the top 10 worst cities for air population in the United
States, which is primarily due to the most important industries to Houstoneconomy
the Houston Ship Channel and the oil and gas industries.
Over the past couple of years a new environmental issue has taken place illegal
dumping, which is astoundingly different than the environmental issues that the City
of Houston has been commonly known for, although it has devastating effect. In, fact
what is rather unusual for this issue unlike the issues of air pollution the oil and gas
industry has little to no involvement with creating the issue. While the city of
Houston and Galveston had created guidelines for handling illegal dumping in 1999
the need to address this issue returned in early 2015. ... Show more content on

It was never considered one of the best neighborhoods but her area never

particular visit. Later that year these dumping sites became a huge burden for the city
and tax payers due to cleanup cost Many local governments realize huge costs
involved in continuously cleaning these sites up and are beginning to invest in
prevention programs . (Pasternak, 2001)
To find out more about the illegal dumping that has occurred around the city I
conducted interviews at Lone Star Disposal Center and Ralston Road Landfill, I
was able to gather some information from both sources about a few of the hazards
that can occur because of these spots, where I can find additional info and where a
few of the hot spots are that illegal dumpers usually dump their
Currently In Healthcare, There Are Many Large And
Impactful
Currently in healthcare, there are many large and impactful demographic groups
under the microscope. These groups have the potential to shift and shape the way
health and healthcare are practiced based on the way the groups engage in their
health. Health professionals are very interested in how patients young and old, rich
and poor, educated and uneducated, insured and uninsured are interacting and
engaging. By researching and observing how these traits affect an individual or
group s care, providers will be able to better tailor care to be the most impactful and
useful for the patients. One of the specific demographicsthat will have considerable
amounts of pull in the way healthcare is practiced today and in the future is

In Millennials Go To College by Neil Howe and William Strauss, they discuss the
demographic in detail and define seven core traits of millennials. They discuss this
group as beginning to finish up college, a group mentality focus, and extremely
diverse (Strauss Howe, 2003). What this means is that this group is generally higher
educated, more focused on groups, communities, and teams rather than themselves,
and in general the group is accepting of diversity and views all people as equal.
These busy individuals are often over stimulated by the amount of work and
extracurriculars that they take on. Howe and Strauss also observed seven core traits
of this demographic group which has the potential to have an effect on the way this
group views themselves and the way they are viewed by others. These traits are that
they are special, sheltered, confident, team oriented, conventional, pressured, and
achieving (Strauss Howe, 2003). Each of these characteristics affects the way that this
group engages in the world around them. These traits follow them through education,
work, and especially healthcare, with regard to current engagement and how they will
engage in the future.
The characteristics of the millennial generation mentioned above affect the beliefs of
the generation itself and how others perceive this demographic group from

War Of The Roses Essay
The outcome of the battle of Bosworth Field on August 22nd, 1485, has long been
one of great controversy. It marked the end of one of the bloodiest civil wars in
England s history, and the dawning of the much acclaimed Tudor era. Bosworth
raises many a question regarding the ideas of loyalty and honour in the latter years
of the medieval age. Upon which side of the battle field, if either, did true betrayal
lie? The infamous War of the Roses saw families torn apart and brother turn against
brother in a mad scramble to claim the English throne. How much did those years
of bloodshed effect the decisions value of loyalty to one s king or lineage? This
paper will discuss the evolution of the concepts of loyalty formed during the War of
the Roses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the course of his lifetime he changed his loyalties at least four times. Each
time could easily be construed as purely for personal advantages. Like his father
and namesake, Lord Thomas seemed to prefer waiting out conflict in order to
emerge on the winning side. He did this not once, but twice during Yorkist rule.
Familial ties with Warwick did not stop him from siding with Edward IV, nor did
rewards from Richard III keep him from sitting out for the king s final battle. Lord
Thomas was motivated by personal gain and this strategy served him well. He was
well rewarded by a grateful, and possibly insecure, Henry VII with lands and offices
that included the much coveted properties of the now deceased Yorkist Harringtons

Questions On Increasing Disciplinary Reading
1.Increasing Disciplinary Reading Biancarosa (2012) states in the introduction to
this section that as students progress up through the grades their reading in content
area courses becomes progressively more distinct (p. 47). A student in a fourth grade
science course will encounter different terminology in a fourth grade social studies
course and even more diverse terminology by the time they reach high school
biology. However, I have often found, and Biancarosa (2012) as acknowledges that
many schools do not focus on readinginstruction across content areas. Biancarosa
elaborates, too often, schools do not explicitly teach students how the reasoning
processes, strategies, and rules for achieving comprehension vary across the content
areas (p. 47). In order to develop adolescents literacy skills we need to increase their
interaction with diverse disciplinary texts. Looking at this from the higher education
lens, once a student moves from the college prep classroom to the collegiate
environment they will be required to demonstrate comprehension and research skills
in their specialized field of study. The best measure that teachers in the K 12 arena
can do to assist them for this transition is to increase their interaction with these texts
during the duration of their elementary and secondary school years.
2.Help Students Achieve Proficiency in Digital Reading This was rather a common
sense recommendation given how much technology and digital reading students are

Procedure:
1.Find a clean counter or table to work on. Make sure you have everything you will
need and that all of the items are clean.
2.Put on a pair of disposable gloves.
3.Make a paper towel damp with some 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Wipe down
the work surface with the rubbing alcohol dampened paper towel.

5.Perform a 1:10 serial dilution of the colloidal silver. Notice that the bottle you
purchased is labeled 500 PPM. This means that the concentration of silver
nanoparticles in the bottle is approximately 500 parts per million (PPM), which is
the equivalent of 500,000 micrograms per liter (Вµg/L). Although you are using
colloidal silver, you are interested in the silver nanoparticle concentration, which is

The Central Powers of World War I
World War I took place between 1914 and 1918. It was a fight between the Central
Powers and the Allies. The Allies included America, Britain, France, and Russia.
The Central Powers were Germany, Austria Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire,
which is now considered Turkey. The United States was involved in the war for a
short period of time; it entered the war very late. There was a deadlock between the
Allies and Central Powers, but Germany knew that they were going to lose the war
because of the United Statesentering; they wanted to seek an armistice. The Allied
Powers ended up winning, and forced Germany to agree to the harsh terms in the
armistice they had written up. The United States faced many challenges and
trouble in its own country after the war. Towards the end of the war, troop
movements contributed to a worldwide influenza epidemic. The disease took more
than 500,000 lives alone in the United States alone in 1918 and 1919. The
epidemic even killed a larger amount of people worldwide than the amount of
people that had died in the war. The epidemic arose in two stages. The first phase,
identified as the three day fever, appeared without warning in the late spring of
1918. Few deaths were reported. Victims recovered after a few days. When the
disease surfaced again that fall, it was far more severe. Scientists, doctors, and health
officials could not pinpoint this plague which was striking so viciously and fast,
evading treatment and resisting control.
Similarities Between Aslan And God
The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, uses analogy to tell about God`s
interactions with his creation and how great and loving God is. This analogy
represents different things in the
Bible many times, from Aslan taking Edmund`s place at the Stone Table to making a
new world, with a recognizable England and Narnia but better, in The Last Battle.
Aslan is God in Narnia, or is he? I believe Aslan represents God, because they share
some similarities, but they do have some differences.
In this essay, I compared God and Aslan as seen in the Bibleand The Magician`s
Nephew, and have similarities and differences between Aslan and God. In the next
section, the third paragraph, I have similarities, in the fourth paragraph I have ... Show

However, when Aslan was creating Narnia, he sang, and when God created, He
just spoke (Lewis 107 and Genesis 1). In Genesis 1, God said many times It was
good for He was talking about His creation (Genesis 1). It also says: And God said,
Let there be light, and there was light (Genesis 1). There is a difference between
singing and speaking. God created humans different from everything else he had
created, molded in His image and likeness (Genesis 2), but
Aslan made a cabby and his wife the first king and queen, but he did not create them
(Lewis 149
152). The Magician`s Nephew says: Aslan threw up his shaggy head, opened his
mouth, and uttered a long, single note...when all of a sudden a young woman...and
stood beside her
(Polly)...the cabby`s wife (Lewis, 149). In other words, Aslan summoned the cabby`s
wife to
Narnia (Lewis 149). When Aslan created the animals, they grew out of the ground in
Narnia, but not in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1 2 and Lewis 122 123). Wait, this is
interesting. In Genesis
2: 19, it says, Now the Lord had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and
birds of the sky (Genesis 2:19) . Does the Bible mean it literally, or does it mean
something else and C.S.
Lewis used it as a parallel in The Magician s Nephew? Aslan sang while God spoke to
create a world, and only God created humans in His image.
.
I view Aslan as Jesus in Narnia! They created worlds and inhabitants (Lewis 107 and
Genesis 1)! They know

1. Apply the concepts of Piaget to Nic s development.
The fourth stage in Piagets Theory is Formal Operational Period. In this stage, which
begins around eleven years of age and continues through adulthood, children become
capable of applying mental operations to abstract concepts. They can imagine and
reason about hypothetical situations. From this point on, people start to think in
abstract, systematic, and logical ways. I believe that this is the stage that got the
best of Nic. He started to drink alcohol at 11, marijuana at 12, and it just kept going.

What was consistent was the typical behaviors and the way it is that the family

was slowly disconnecting. Families are systems of interconnected and interdependent
individuals; none can be understood when isolated from the family. (pp)

Santa Rosa Island Battle
The Battle of Santa Rosa Island began as an attempt by the Confederate Army to
seize the peninsula stronghold of Fort Pickens, FL during the infancy of the
American Civil War. By most accounts it ended with the hasty retreat of combatant
Confederate forces to mainland Florida and the reassurance of Union ground troop
supremacy in the region.(Harpers Journal***) Despite the Confederate Army
leadership s attempts to discredit and downplay the Union Army s decisive victory
and dominance on the battlefield at Santa Rosa Island, historic accounts to the
contrary have been all but wiped from existence and the accounts of the day s events

Fort Pickens garrison was an integral piece of the Union Navy s gulf blockade
campaign that lasted the entirety of the war. While Confederate forces occupied all
mainland forts in the Pensacola Bay Area of Operations(AO), Union Navy and and
Army assets located at Fort Pickens continually denied Confederate forces logistical
support from British seafaring assets in the Gulf of Mexico. A truce had been
reached by both occupying Armies before the onset of The American Civil War
. The
agreed upon conditions in their most basic sense were that the Confederate Army
Soldiers in Pensacola would not attack Fort Pickens, if the Union Army would
refrain from reinforcing their position. The Confederate Army action is
historically described as a retaliatory attack for a raid on the Confederate ship
Judah by sailors and marines from the U.S.S. Colorado. Rowing into the bay under
cover of darkness, a boat party had surprised and torched the Judah in September
1861 before Confederate troops could quell the attack. Determined to retaliate for
the bold raid, General Braxton Bragg, Commanding Officer for Confederate forces
in Pensacola, decided to launch an attack on the outer camps and batteries of Fort
Pickens on Santa Rosa Island. General Bragg was one of the most experienced
Confederate Army Commanders and commanded about 7,000 Confederate Soldiers
in the Pensacola Bay area of operations. Although it is often stated that Bragg hoped
to capture the fort, his real goal seems to have been to destroy the camp of the 6th
New York Volunteers. (exploresouthernhistory.com) The 6th New York Volunteers
consisted of 600 light infantry troops and were Commanded by Cornel William
Wilson, a former politician from New York. The 6th New York Volunteers had little
combat experience at this point in the war, but their reputation for drinking and

The Pros And Cons Of The Gestapo
In 1933, there was a war/battle between Germany and the Jews and many more
other in Germany. There were groups that, are bad, rude, mean people that were in
involved in a group in the Holocaust. The Holocaust, there are seven organizations,
the fourth one was the Gestapo. A Secret Police Office or Secret State Police Force,
who were a group of people who were freed to do whatever, and put random people
into protective custody. The Gestapowas led by Heinrich Himmler, who was the
commander of Home Forces, but someone else had already found the Gestapo first,
Hermann Göring. With the two of him and the Gestapo, they did many bad things
and bad stuff to people who were Germans and even Jews and they also crossed the
line of their law. The Gestapo was a group of people who were being controlled and
being used to do bad things to others by the person who was leading them.
Gestapo s were a very bad group, they never listened to others when they needed
help, they never helped any german citizens, they arrested people for no reasons and
they put them into protective custody. They lied and crossed over the law for them.
Another word or an abbreviation for the Gestapo s was, Geheime StaatsPolizei.
They were a secret state police. To know how the Gestapo s looked like, they had to
be wearing black coats and slouch hats. They were only known and famous because
they were violent, torturing, and cruelty to others. Not only did they were violent to
Jews, but even to their own innocent
Differences Between Flora and Mother Essay example
There is an infinite number of personalities and the best art works portray them
vividly and truthfully. Some people are practical, while others are more abstract. In
the comedic novels about family life, Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons (1932)
and Chicken Every Sunday: My Life with Mother s Boarders by Rosemary Taylor
(1943), the practical characters are in the forefront. While representing different life
phases due to their age difference, Gibbons s main characterFlora Poste is quite
similar in her life views and actions to Taylor s Mother. The central theme is the
conflict between notions of practicality and romance, reflected by the actions of the
heroines, which happen to be heavily affected by their unconventional upbringings....

Both heroines personalities are heavily affected by their rather unconventional
childhoods. Since Mother was born right after the Civil War and had gone through
the hard and poverty stricken times in the South, [t]here was something Spartan in
her nature and her seizing any possibility for making money (57). Flora s childhood
was marked by her hardly knowing her parents and attending various schools, where
she could hardly fit in. Overall, the theme of unconventional childhoods is one of the
major themes of both novels. Most of the characters of Cold Comfort Farm seem to
have psychological issues, which they developed from their childhoods. Ada Doom s
seeing something nasty in the woodshed made a dominating and miserable being out
of her (171). She brought up her daughter, Judit Starkadder, as an emotionally
unstable. It resulted in Judith s obsession with her son, Seth Starkadder. The inferred
Seth s molestation by his mother had resulted in him developing psychological issues
of his own, including hate towards women and sexual promiscuity. On the contrary,
Mother s and Flora s stern upbringing molded them into practical and realistic people,
as well as allowed them to manipulate their surrounding characters. The novels are
insightful to one of the human nature s desires of changing others. Both heroines
change the lives of the whole cast of different characters, instead of allowing the
environments to change them. They introduce other female characters to

The Era Of Music During Beethoven And Dido And Aeneas
By...
Music is a crucial part of life. Conducting, composing, or listening to music are
things most people do everyday. Music exposes feelings and portrays a part of
history. Listeners enjoy different genres. They may like music of different tempos or
dynamics. Many composers may only focus on one instrument to perfect. Regardless
of taste or need for music, it is all important. Two of the important pieces learned in
the beginning music class are SymphonyNo. 5 in C minor by Beethoven and Dido
and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. A major historical event was well underway when
Beethoven was born. The Age of Enlightenment was upon the world. The peak of
the period was happening right as Beethoven was born. Philosophy, science, and
politics were changed. Many believe this helped the Romantic period also
(Enlightenment). During Beethoven s early life, music was mainly classical.
However, Beethoven was the main ingredient on changing his era of music.
Beethoven studied under Haydn and Mozart, but they were not valuable
relationships to him. Beethoven was mostly known for his great piano work. After
branching out from more than the piano, Beethoven s work took on a more
Romantic feel. He put more emotion and expression in his work than he, or most
artists, did previously. This grasp between stages was very productive for Beethoven;
most of his best work was completed during this time (Brief). Ludwig van Beethoven
was assumed to be born in Bonn, Germany, on December 16, 1770. He died in
Letter To Lululemon Essay
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter today. Lululemon is a store, which I
visit often, due to the clothing being modern and popular. However, I am writing
you today to address a problem I ran into at your stores and to propose a possible
solution.
I noticed that Lululemon clothing prices are marked up a great percentage than
what a fair price would be. The fabric advertised is a special mix, Luon. However,
after completing research, many brands, such as Athleta and Adidas, use a similar
mix and their pants are lower in price. This would not be so much of a problem for
Lululemon if the quality matched the price. Yet, there have been complaints from
Lululemon customers where the clothing displayed pilling or sheerness after just a
few washes something I too have experienced. A customerexpects good quality from
their clothing, especially if they are willing to spend a large amount of money on it.
I have a proposal to solve the problem. A successful solution would include the
criteria of being affordable for everyone, creating a competitive market with athletic
brands, and maintaining the quality of clothing.
My solution is to lower the price of the clothing to match the quality. This would
create a fair price that would compete with other athletic clothing stores. On the ...

With this solution being said, there are potential objections. First of all, it could be
argued that Lululemon would lose money by lowering the cost of clothing. This is
not necessarily true as people already buy the clothing at the current price. Therefore,
lowering the price would theoretically increase the sales dramatically, which in turn
means Lululemon is making more money. A second objection is the fact that the
pants are expensive due to the brand name. While this is true, having an even slightly
lower price would attract more customers and grow the brand
The Potassium-Argon Method
Evolutionary biologists and archaeologists in recent years have forever
transformed the way we look at our past, and have shed light on many things that
were previously waiting in the dark just ready to be discovered. With
breakthroughs in technology such as the potassium argon method, and DNA
analysis, biologists and archaeologists have found new ways to look back on where
it all began. In 1967, scientists we re roaming the Omo Valley in Ethiopia and they
discovered what was the first known, and documented member of our species in that
of what was called Omo 1. (Video Sheet) Thrilled about the discovery, scientists
needed to know how old the skeleton they found was. With the use of the Potassium
argon method, they were easily able to pinpoint exactly how old the skeleton was. As
it turns out, the skeleton at hand was 195,000 years old. (Video Sheet) Scientists we
re extremely please with the find and without the use and technology of Potassium
Argon method they may have never been able to figure out the exact timeframe that
this person lived thus not being able to capture a lot... Show more content on

earth s greatest mysteries when it comes to the evolution of humans. One prime
example of this is in the case of discovering a completely new strand of DNA as it

50 mutations in it which was extremely higher than that of other strands. Not only
we re the mutations alarming, but when it was discovered that the strand was

scientists thought was the first known species that we as people descended from.

Analysis of Consumer Decision Making Process
Introduction
Consumer decision making process is a list of steps that are carried out by consumers
concerning to a potential market transaction, before, during and after the purchase of
a product or service. The process includes identifying the problem, collecting
information, evaluating the alternatives, making the purchase decision and
evaluating post purchase.
Generally, decision making is the cognitive process of selecting a course of action
from among multiple options.

Q.1) Compute the following quantities for the current production process as well as
for Mike s and Ike s plans, assuming the plans are implemented as described in the
case.
Solution:
Current batch processing
Sales for the Executive Shirt Company are constituted of only a few basic styles
and colours. Hence the company has a limited number of varieties to produce. So, it
has large batches of each kind of shirt (size and color).
It has only one cutting machine, which is computer controlled and can cut up to 60
layers of cloth at the same time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cycle time / shirt = 30 / 60 = 0.5 min / shirt.
The work in process inventory = Total number of batches in all operations * Batch
size
= (16 + 144 + 12 + 12 + 12) * 60
= 196 * 60 = 11760 shirts
Now we can apply Little s Law to calculate the throughput time which is equal to the
manufacturing lead time in this case.
By Little s Law,
Throughput time = Work in process / Throughput rate = Work in process * Cycle time
= 11760 * 0.5
= 5880 minutes
Since production goes on for 8 hrs per day, manufacturing lead time = 5880 / (8 * 60)
= 12.25 days
Total number of shirts produced per month is 16,000. The company works for 20
days a month.
So, the output per day = 16000 / 20 = 800 shirts.
In, 8 hours a day, the company can produce 60 * 8 * (1/0.5) = 960 shirts, which is
the current production capacity. But it needs to produce only 800 shirts.
So, the capacity utilization = (800 / 960) * 100 = 83.33%
The actual labor utilized = Number of shirts produced * Direct labor content
= 800 * 25.76
= 20608 minutes
The available labor for utilization = Total number of workers * Hours per day *
A Birth Defect
Different studies and different recourses show that about 1 in 33 babies that are
born in the U.S have a birth defect. I decided to use this known fact from the
Human Biology thirteenth edition textbook by Sylvia S. Mader and Michael
Windelpecht due to the fact that not many people know or even care to think
about it that is unless it happened to them or someone in their own circle. In order
to understand how to prevent and test for a birth defect you need to understand
some common definitions and words that can be used while reading about the
topic. For starters, as stated in the merriam webster dictionary, the medical
definition of defect is a lack or deficiency of something necessary for adequacy in
form or function. Another word that is used a lot when talking about this subject
matter is test and testing. Based on the medical definition a test is a diagnostic
procedure for determining the presence or nature of a condition or disease or for
revealing a change in function. From this definition you can see how the word test
is also used in medical vocabulary to see what is wrong with a patient so the doctors
can determine what to do next. The last term that I want to explain briefly before
continuing is one that people might get confused with, it is the word prevent.
Although it might seem like an easy word people still confuse it with the act of
curing someone. The dictionary without a doubt states that the word prevent means
to keep from happening or existing
The Cruelty Of Animal Cruelty
Hypocrisy comes to mind as I grudgingly watch a woman eat a cheeseburger while
wearing a t shirt with the phrase My Favorite Breed is RESCUED blasted on the
front. With every bite I delve deeper into the question of what exactly is animal
cruelty and why does society differentiate between which animals are worthy and not
worthy of liberation. Humans have not only been hidden skillfully from the
atrocious truth that is factory farming, but many choose to remain ignorant as it is
easier to ignore the cries of cattle than to give up a delicious cheeseburger. Selfishly,
we have become content in our societally programmed sheltered view of the world.
Fortunately, for us, we can escape the shelter willingly, for the animals in factory
farming,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Needless to say, the undercover investigation exposed Pilgrim s cruelty to animals,
yet the Harnett County District Attorney of North Carolina, Vernon Stewart,
ultimately decided not to burden this case with criminal charges (Staff, COK ).
Perhaps, if animal cruelty laws were taken seriously and implemented truly for all
animals, more would ve been done to make this unlawful behavior obsolete.
Furthermore, a form of animal neglect is hoarding. Hoarding is described by the
Hoarding of Animals Research Consortium as the accumulation of a large amount
of animals, resulting in a lack of nutrition, sanitation, veterinary care, and failure to
recognize these deteriorating conditions of being harmful to both the animal and
caretaker ( Hoarding ). There are several laws prohibiting hoarding in every state
and the individuals who participate can be prosecuted either by fines, jail time or
banned from animal ownership. For example, section 31 19 1 of New Mexico s
Statutes declares that any defendant convicted of animal neglect can be imprisoned
up to one year and fined up to 1,000 dollars ( 2006 ). This law only applies to
domesticated animals and not livestock, thus leaving pigs the devastation of

To What Extent was the Cold war Caused by Ideological...
The Cold War, a period of sustained political and military tension between the USA
and the USSR, resulted in various viewpoints concerning the cause of the tension
emerging. Until today the question remains unresolved, even after the 1991 release
of Soviet archives. The main point of disagreement relates to the roles that ideology
played in the events between 1945 and 1949. Was it the strongly opposing ideologies,
capitalism and communism, or power and material interest that drove both
superpowers to the decades of struggle for global supremacy.
The orthodox view regarding the cause of the Cold War, formed the standard
interpretation between the 1940s and early 1960s. The breakdown of the wartime

Reflection Paper On Golf Carts
As a teenager, hearing our parents tell us no to doing something enjoyable due to it
being unsafe is a huge heartbreaker . We seem to think we are invincible and that
our parents know absolutely nothing. January 1st of 2015, I learned that maybe,
just maybe, our parents are actually looking out for us. We should probably listen
to them when they tell us to not ride a golf cart at 1 A.M. on a freezing cold winter
night. My day started off just as it usually does, I wake up and go straight to the
kitchen for my morning cup of hot chocolate. I knew that this day was going to be
fun, it was New Year s eve. My grandparents were having a familyparty that night. I
have a very close relationship with all of my family so seeing everyone together
again was extremely exciting. We got to my grandparents house around 7 P.M.
Most of my family arrived earlier so, I went off to see what my cousins were
doing. I found them in the backyard driving rampant on my grandfather s new golf
cart. I probably should have taken this as a sign to not get on, but everyone else
was doing it so I decided I should just do it too. Our parents eventually told us it
was getting too late and to come inside. After watching the ball drop, My cousins
and I decided to take my grandfather s golf cart for one more ride. Our parents told
us that it was too late, too cold, and we shouldn t be going. We had the bright ideato
go against what our parents had just told us and told them we were going outside
to play basketball. We got outside to find that the keys were still in the ignition
from the excitement we experienced earlier that day. My cousins, Blake and
Hannah, got in the front seat while I got in the backseat along with my other
cousin Hillary. We started our ride off with a trip down the driveway and quickly
picked up speed, way faster than we expected. As we got towards the end of the
driveway, Blake decided it would be a good idea to make a sharp left turn. This
caused the golf cart to flip. As we were flipping, I could see Blake and Hillary jump
off while Hannah and I were somehow thrown under the golf cart. Hannah ended up
getting lucky, only her ankle was caught under a metal bar and she was able to easily
get out. On the other hand,
The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeiting
If you have ever traveled to another country, you have probably seen vendors on the
sidewalks or streets, selling designer brand goods at a really cheap price. You may
have even purchased something from them. The fashion industry is a 1.2 trillion
dollar global industry and employs 1.9 million people in the United States alone
(Maloney, 2015). There is one market that is proving to be detrimental to this
powerhouse industry. The black market of fashion, which produces counterfeitgoods
that are being sold at a fraction of the price of the originals.
Whatever the reason a consumer has for purchasing a counterfeit product, that sale
will still influence the global economy. Counterfeiting leads to huge losses for not
only the industry, but also a loss of tax revenue for governments. It is estimated
that counterfeiting consists of 5% to 7% of world trade and produces profits of
over 650 billion dollars annually ( Challenges of Selling , 2008). Not only does
counterfeiting steal profits from legitimate retailers, but it also causes loss of jobs,
other, more violent crimes, supports child labor, and puts consumers health at risk
(Bell, 2016). Since most illegal counterfeiting operations are run by organized crime
rings, no taxes are paid, and the profits from selling these goods are often used to
support other crimes such as drug and human trafficking, money laundering and even
terrorism. Counterfeit sales in the United States have been directly related to the

Becoming An Art Director
Art directors create nearly every creative aspect of television programs, video
games, motion pictures, and more. They develop specific details for creating
photographs, audio, or graphics used in broadcasting and advertising. Also, they
oversee everyone working around them to make sure the job is done correctly and
exceptionally. Some of their most important tasks include managing budgets,
approving materials, completing storyboards, and selecting and training staff
members. Art directors use both computers and handheld materials to build
incredible sets and designs. Without art directors, there would be very few of the

The Boom in Robotic Population
Introduction According to the report of International Federation of Robotics in
2008 the world s robot population has reached 8.6 million. That is a little less than
the population of New Jersey (Guizzo, Erico). From this data it is clear that lots of
people do not realize how much they are surrounded by robots already at the
present time. Additionally from year to year number of these robots is growing as
technology and science are developing faster than it seems. This essay will discuss
drawbacks and benefits of using robots in the future, by evaluating negative and
positive impacts of robotics. Research will begin by evaluating the economic
factors of using robots. It will then proceed to investigate the social factors and will
analyze the judgments of society. Main body Economic factors of using robots
From the economic point of view using robots is not advantageous. Firstly in the
future some jobs will become extinct. According to Rob Rawson, co founder of
Staff.com, after serious crashes caused by a human operated air traffic controller, in
2034 the government will mandate that all air traffic must be controlled by
Artificial Intelligence agents. Moreover in 2028 Google is going to produce perfect

translators and interpreters will lose their working places. Similarly as self driving
cars become main stream, there will be no need for taxi drivers by 2038 (Rawson,

Streptomyces Essay
Streptomyces is a genus of Gram positive bacteria in the actinomycetes group.
Streptomyces species are common inhabitants of soil, though they are found in a
variety of habitats. They have a mycelial and reproduce by the formation of spores
at the extremities of aerial hyphae. They respire aerobically and can use a wide
range of organic compounds as carbon and energy sources. Streptomyces often
produce extracellular enzymes that allow them to utilize various materials such as
starch, cellulose and chitin. They produce over half of all known antibiotics, and
certain species are commercially important. An example of an antibiotic produced by
Streptomyces griseus is streptomycin. (Collins Dictionary of Biology, 3rd ed. 2005)
Streptomyces are the most extensively studied and well known genus of the

decomposers. They also are medically significant due to their ability to produce...

Worthy of note is the process involving the production of antibiotics where there is a
symbiotic relationship between Streptomyces and plant. The antibiotic protects plants
against pathogens, and plant exudates allows the growth of Streptomyces.
Researchers have suggested that some antibiotics originated as signal molecules, with
the ability to effect variations in the expression of some genes that are unrelated to a

undoubtedly a complex process. Streptomyces is a well known genus of the
Actinomycetes family of bacteria with a unique morphology and metabolism, which
lends to its ability to produce more than half of the antibiotics that are used in

The Physical Values Of Roger Federer And Ray Ban
Like Roger Federer, they are veterans in their designated field. Simply put, both
Federer and Ray Ban are timeless classics. Federer is arguably one of the most
attractive men in all of sports. Of course this highly relates to his great physical
shape and facial features, but it is also about his class, humbleness, and charm. As
mentioned in the audit chart, Federer is considered a great philanthropist as he has
helped many people around the world and even has his own foundation. In many
ways, he can be thought of as the perfect gentleman . The perfect complimenting
accessory for an attractive gentleman such as himself is a classic pair of aviator Ray
Ban sunglasses.
Of course, attractiveness is only one part of this equation. As mentioned previously,
trustworthiness may be more important for actual purchase persuasiveness. Federer s
credibility adds tremendously to his trustworthiness. He may not have won a grand
slam title in 2015 or 2016 but he was still ranked in the top 3 in the world, and has a
great tract record that has proven his ability to still compete and dominate. When
Federer chooses a brand of sunglasses to wear, consumers can be confident in his
choice. Much like Federer, Ray Ban does not have to prove the value of their
product. They have both been around for a long time, and understand what it means
to be great.
Another major reason for I would propose this sponsorship is due to Federer
apparently not currently having a sunglasses sponsor. He has some
Basil The Great
While studying Theology in South Korea, I obtained an opportunity to translate one

professors, and write a thesis on his educational thoughts. Basil s writing was for

experiencing conflicts regarding whether they could read the pagan literatures or not.
In his writing, Basil underscores the importance of the pagan works from which
Christians can attain benefits in order to clearly understand Godand the Bible. It
continuously led me to make a question: So what does it mean for modern Korean
churches?

Traditionally, this feeling resulted from three reasons. First, women felt han due to
their roles. Based on Confucianism which emphasizes the roles of men, when a
woman could not have a boy, her husband could have additional wives, which
formed the woman s resentment. Second, in a highly hierarchical society, han was a
common feeling among those with less power. Third, Korea experienced a lot of
wars and struggles between China and Japan, which was another reason for Korean
people s resentment. Even though they could not change their situation at all,
nevertheless they sublimated their han in various ways such as writing poems,
singing songs, and exorcising. It reminds of a lot of songs in Psalm, which reveals

Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the
independence of India from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired
the likes of Martin Luther King Jr. and others. However, many despised Gandhi s
methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of Delhi, was heading to a prayer
meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank shots at
Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he
employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined
conflicting religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that
Gandhi did many great things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives.
To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to
protest the injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due
to the prohibition of salt exportation to India from countries other than Britain.
According to This Day in History, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78
followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea.
There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from
seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America
banned the production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals
decided to make and distribute alcohol or have it imported. They were called
bootleggers. Gandhi s actions were comparable

Gender And Simulations
When people becomes who they are, there are many different factors that come into
play. Freud s work starts to notice the identities both genders take when he says, boys,
he suggests, become children while girls remain little women (Chodorow 1794:54).
Chodorow wrote Family Structure and Feminine Personality and Baudrillard wrote
Simulacra and Simulations, which both talks about how individuals from their
identity. The first theorist who looks at society s influences on individuals is
Chodorow. Her theory falls under psychoanalytic theory, which most normal
sociologist do not follow. She looks at how individuals become who they are through
gender. Her work, shows how the two genders grow up and become their own selves.

Unlike men, women stay close to their mothers during development. In Chodorow s
theory, she explains, Feminine identification is based not on fantasied or externally
defined characteristics and negative identification, but on the gradual learning of a
way of being familiar in every life, and exemplified by the person with whom she
has been most involved with (Chodorow 1974: 51). The basis of her theory shows
that a girl cannot completely reject her mother since they identify to the same gender.
While her relationship grows with her father, her relationships with her mother
strengthens. There is no need to break away from anything for them since girls are
expected to be feminine. Since daughters spend time with their mothers so much,
they act like their mothers later in life. Creating this different identity can be

which plays a significant rule in the global economy. The population is about 30.0

Global Warming And Its Effect On The Marine Ecosystem
Essay
The fear of global warming has been looming over people, and baffling scientists for
decades. Since it was recognised that climate change is becoming accelerated due to
human resources, the knowledge around it has been slowly evolving. Fifty years ago,
as will be discussed, thinking around the subject was quite different. Even now
experts cannot come to a consensus as to what the result of climate changewill be. It
is observed, at present, that global warminghas made a huge impact on the marine
ecosystem as the sea temperature and amount of carbon continues to rise. One of
the great concerns about global warming is its effect on the cryosphere and polar
caps, of which the science will be later explored. In addition, it is predicted that if
global warming continues to develop within the next ten years, the world will change
drastically for the worse. Body Paragraph One: Past knowledge
Fifty years ago, scientific knowledge of climate change was limited, and some
predictions were far from the results. In the 1960 s to 1970 s, what we in the present
day fear, global warming, was not an issue at all, actually, experts were concerned
about global cooling. According to this theory, proposed by Kenneth Watson of the
University of California, it was predicted that by the 21st century, the earth would
have cooled enough to send the world into an ice age, and billions of people alive
now would have died due to starvation, caused by crops being unable to grow. There

to be, a counseling psychologist and my grandma always telling me that people is
my job suit. My value, strengths and interests all rely on building relationships and
caring for others and their feelings. As a result, when I fulfill these needs I feel so
greatly accomplished and beyond satisfied.
Everyone should have values they stand for one hundred percent. My values are
relationships, independence, and support. Achievement and recognition fall into my
academic values meaning I like to use my best abilities and see results vastly,
however, in my profession of counseling psychology you have to work towards
something to make progress or see your patient put effort. With that being said, I
wouldn t really need recognition I would feel I accomplished my job if we make
progress and my patient don t come out as they came. Relationships and support are
two big factors I will need to build a relationship with my patient on trust and if they
feel my support in order for us to communicate properly. When looking into a
practice I plan to look for good working conditions suiting my personal work style
and working independently, and security. These values go, hand
Stephen King s The Shining
People in every decade and every place have had problems or fears they had to live
with. To cope with their issues, individuals have turned to crime, drugs, therapy, and
many other methods, some ways are good and some are bad. To deal with his issues
and fears, Stephen King turned to writing horror stories. Through the character Jack
Torrance in Stephen Kings novel The Shining, King is able to project his life as a
writer, display the hardships he went through, and reveal his writing persistence in the
novel. Without knowing any background on Stephen King, some of the connections
between him and The Shining may not be clear. He was born on September 21, 1947

Interview With A Research Coordinator Essay
Analysis of an Interview with a Research Coordinator
Summary
This interview aims to help students understand the role of the research coordinator
(RC) and what it is like for that person to bring a large scale research project from
conception to completion. The interview participant has worked as a RC for many
years and has a strong background in statistics. According to the participant, an
essential qualification for a RC is a solid understanding of statistical concepts and
analyses, and the ability to build on that knowledge and apply it to statistical
computer programs. This foundational knowledge is needed because a project can
involve a significant amount of analysis and coding from data. The participant s
current research project is a large scale project involving the implementation of
public health policy for BC and Ontario. This research is dynamic and challenging
and always evolving, which requires the RC to be flexible and adaptable. For many
of the team members, this project is not a primary job; therefore, it is important for
the RC to find the balance between project deadlines and allowing people to have
personal time. Despite being the lead for this project, the participant shares decision
making with a variety of people and government agencies in both provinces, which
brings various levels of bureaucratic challenges, including gaining access to data. This
and other logistical constraints can make analyzing data and producing papers time
consuming.
Finer Bags
Totally contrary to enthusiastic claims that fake handbags and other counterfeit goods
are indistinguishable from the originals, in fact these knock off products typically
leave a lot to be desired. The real items are usually individually handmade from the
best materials using only the most perfect stitching, while fakes are mass produced.
In addition, the counterfeitindustry is tied to the globalization of organized crime, so
the money people spend on forgeries while being pleased at their savings ends up in
the pocket of a thief at best, and the mob, terrorists, or drug cartels at worst. In short,
even if cultural relativism is taken into consideration, it is difficult to say that
counterfeiting actions are in any way going to improve the... Show more content on

Eventually, however, that sales website was also removed, and replaced with content
persuading domain visitors to buy genuine Chanel products instead of the fakes that
had been sold from the domain in the past (LeatherMoon.com, n.d.). Evidently, the
managers at Finer Bags did not realize that honest thieves are still thieves.

suspect that dissonance is occurring here? Why or why

The Placement Of Product Warehouses
Placement of Product Warehouses
The placement of product warehouses has become a key instrumental feature in today
s world of logistics. The placement of product warehouses does not only play a
significant role in safeguarding the product before it reaches its final destination, but
with the right location strategy the product will arrive at its destination in on a timely
manner; satisfying both the retailer and consumer. Together with a well organized
strategy, retailers, suppliers, and manufactures can benefit greatly by the placement
of product warehouses in terms of generating long term capital. As previously stated
the key to placement of product warehouses is having a strategy that fits the
organization s needs. A strategy will be composed of the following factors location,
efficiency, inventory, and the use of advanced technologies. Determining the location
involves taking in consideration of the product, travel time, and cost of labor to
restock the warehouse. A good example of this is Amazon and Walmart both of these
retailers have revolutionized the placement of product warehouses suitable their
products and consumers; in order to maximize their profit while maintaining their
market share. In 2005, Walmart made drastic changes in order to manage their
300,000 stock keeping units (SKUs), by opening 40 high velocity cross dock
distribution centers solely for the purpose of accommodate their perishable deliveries
to its store locations (Fiveash, 2016). In the
Persuasive Essay On Obesity In Schools
Obesity is defined as a disorder involving excessive body fat that increases the risk
of health problems: diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. Obesity is a
nationwide epidemic, especially in today s younger generation. This is caused by
all the processed, fatty, fried junk food that is easily accessible everywhere. For
instance, schools are promoting unhealthy eating habits by providing unhealthy
lunches and allowing students to buy unhealthy junk food through vending
machines and fundraising method. The government must begin financing for
healthier food in schools to promote healthier eating habits as well as making
unhealthy foods less accessible and healthy foods more accessible. In today s
world, convenience is a necessity and as a result fast food joints are around every
corner. In addition to fast food being easily available, it is promoted everywhere on
media which is only encouraging our youth to eat more fast food, when they
should be eating healthier. Instead of promoting fast food, a much more
convenient option, the government and schools should be promoting healthier
foods and healthier eating habits, which can be achieved through making fast food
less accessible. In her article, Attacking the Obesity Epidemic by First Figuring Out
Its Cause, Jane E. Brody talks about how in the past, junk food was less accessible
compared to the present day, When I was growing up in the 1940s and 50s, I had to
walk or bike many blocks to buy an ice cream
Nevada Deca Experience
I have learned a many great things from participating in Nevada DECA in the last
two years. It has helped gain experience and confidence in the business world,
which changed my entire outlook on and attitude toward life. Before I joined
Nevada DECA during my sophomore year, I never had the confidence to face
challenges out of my comfort zone. Nevada DECA has helped change that fear of
going out of doing what I am comfortable with, and began challenge other
opportunities the world had to offer. My first Nevada DECA state competition was
challenging, because it was something I have never done before. As my first year, I
was still lack a little bit in confidence and turned away from individual events and

I felt the urge to win. I practiced and played out multiple role plays repeatedly with
my partner. Unfortunately, we did not win the position we wanted, which I felt
very downcast afterwards, but I got over it after some time. I realized that it is not
about winning, sometimes losing teaches a lot more than winning. The
experiences I gained out of my two years in Nevada DECA, has brought my
communication skills, confidence, and better outlook of the amazing opportunities
I have. Even though, I didn t win a medal, my same partner during the two years
and I improved in my scores and have received positive feedbacks along with few
negative ones, too. Instead of ignoring these negative feedbacks, I took those in
consideration in how I can improve next Nevada DECA state competition. Over the
two years, taking part of Nevada DECA in high school has taught me what it takes to
succeed. Furthermore, it got me interested in going into Business. While doing my
college research, I have found that UNLV has a place where DECA also took place,
and I am excited in taking part of it as an Honor College
Homicide Analysis
Another example is that of Homicide, which is generally accepted as long as it is
executed from outside your own clan, exerting no moral obligation. For this
reason, murder, stealing and the seduction of women is an acceptable course of
action, as long as it is held appropriate within the tribal organization. Thus, as a
human being, they have a variable value and in this case, they fail to separate the
individual from the social context. The consequences of adultery and stealing are
prone to the specifics of those involved, e.g. adultery is only deemed wrong if it is
within a clan and subclan. But again this is not an intrinsic wrong doing, as even if
it goes unnoticed, no moral blame or feeling of guilt is set upon those involved. This
exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was considered to be moral is dependent upon the group and the social
context accordingly. In opposition to this is the Christian evaluation of the
objective good of man, and the ultimate difference, is that this is set above the
social medium, in which case moral responsibilities transcend all aspects of the
social context and social ties. Individuality is the acknowledgment of the self as a
spiritual entity, which also envelops our personal integrity and respect for all life.
Due to Gods likeness, we are given an absolute worth, encompassing the duty we
must hold to ourselves and others because of his divine wisdom, and the fulfilment
of an absolute teleological end. Therefore, nothing is morally just because society
conveys it to be, instead we find a natural moral order within the universe, the
eternal good of our infinite being. Hence, murder is always wrong, as it is linked to
our intrinsic worth as human beings, which is not subordinate to a social ranking or
context. With reference to Reads conception of the person in light of Christianity, it is
emphasized how the person is made up of matter (the body) and form (immaterial
element of the soul). Man is a spiritual being, with a rational soul, and this was also
configured by Mauss, where the spirituality of the soul allows for the

b.Change in estimate (2009 event).
A prior period adjustment is a correction, for an accounting error, on the financial
statements of a prior year. ASC 250 10 50 7 states that when financial statements are
restated to correct an error, the entity shall disclose that its previously issued financial
statements have been restated, along with a description of the nature of the error. The
entity also shall disclose ...the cumulative effect of the change on retained earnings or
other appropriate components of equity or net assets in the statement of financial

Therefore, it should not affect or restate retained earnings or liabilities recorded in
prior periods
The company should report the change in the contingency accrual as a 2009 event due

shall not be accounted for by restating or retrospectively adjusting amounts reported
in financial statements of prior periods. Additionally, ASC 450 20 25 7 indicates that
all estimated losses for loss contingencies shall be charged to income rather than
charging some to income and others to retained earnings as prior period adjustments .

The American Civil War
In 1862, as the tribulation of the American Civil War unraveled, across the ocean an
invasion of European vineyards began. Today, as we look out at the vineyards of the
lower RhГґne valley and admire their well ordered appearance of tamed nature, we
would not think that this was once a scene of desolation. Yet, in the mid 1860s, vines
around Roquemaure, a small town and commune located in the South of France,
RhГґne, began to dry up and die. Over a span of 15 years, as an unexplainable
plague spread across Europe, almost the entire country of France was phylloxerated.

organizations around the world were dire. Recovery from this catastrophic episode

Originating from eastern and southern United States, phylloxera lives on native
American vines. Developing on mature storage roots, phylloxera disrupts their
function, allowing countless secondary fungal pathogens to be introduced. Early
signs of a phylloxera infestation include yellowing of leaves and stunting of
growth as the leaves lose function. Symptoms will appear within three years,
ultimately killing the vines between five to six years depending on the phylloxera
genotype. Phylloxera is characterized by having three jointed antennae, the third of
which is the longest, and its overlapping wings resting flat on the back. It belongs
to the order of Homoptera, and shares commonalities between two families of that
sub order: the plant lice and bark lice. Their lifecycle, from egg to adult, is gradual
and complex one species is known to progress through 21 different phases.
Phylloxera adults are all female and reproduce asexually. One adult female is
capable of producing 1) 200 eggs per cycle and 2) having several cycles in a
lifetime. Multiple alleged sources are credited with the responsibility of the initial
spread of Phylloxera. One widely credited source is Count Agoston Haraszthy.
Haraszthy started Buena Vista Winery, one of Sonoma County s oldest winery, in
1857. He traveled to Europe in 1861, visiting several vineyards throughout France,
Germany and Switzerland, unknowingly

The threat that was created by the Communists in the United States was known as
the Red Scare. The Red Scare led to mass hysteria between Communists and the

Essays On Climate Change

  • 1. Essays On Climate Change Crafting an essay on the topic of climate change is undeniably challenging, given the complex and multifaceted nature of the subject. Tackling such a pressing global issue requires extensive research, a deep understanding of scientific principles, and the ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience. To begin with, the sheer volume of information available on climate change demands thorough investigation to separate credible sources from misinformation. The dynamic and evolving nature of the field adds another layer of complexity, as new studies and findings continually reshape the discourse. This requires constant updating of knowledge to ensure the essay remains relevant and accurate. Furthermore, addressing the various aspects of climate change – including its causes, consequences, and potential solutions – necessitates a comprehensive approach. Striking a balance between scientific rigor and accessibility for a general audience is a delicate task. Ensuring that the essay is not only informative but also engaging requires a skillful blending of technical details and relatable examples. The emotional weight of the topic also adds another layer of difficulty. Climate change is not merely a scientific matter; it is a global crisis with far-reaching implications for ecosystems, economies, and human lives. Conveying the urgency of the situation while maintaining objectivity poses a challenge in itself. Moreover, the essay must contribute to the ongoing conversation surrounding climate change. It should present a unique perspective or add value to the existing body of knowledge, making the writing process not only about synthesizing information but also about contributing to a broader discourse. In conclusion, writing an essay on climate change demands a combination of research skills, scientific understanding, communication prowess, and a sense of responsibility towards the global community. It is an intellectually demanding task that requires dedication and a commitment to raising awareness about one of the most critical issues of our time. For those seeking assistance in navigating this challenging endeavor, it's worth exploring resources like HelpWriting.net, where expertly crafted essays on a variety of topics, including those related to environmental issues, are readily available. • 2. Essay On Houston Environmental Issues The City of Houston is a beautiful city that is known for its bayous, multiculturalism and its importance to the US space program. It has also been known for its poor air quality with the city ranking in the top 10 worst cities for air population in the United States, which is primarily due to the most important industries to Houstoneconomy the Houston Ship Channel and the oil and gas industries. Over the past couple of years a new environmental issue has taken place illegal dumping, which is astoundingly different than the environmental issues that the City of Houston has been commonly known for, although it has devastating effect. In, fact what is rather unusual for this issue unlike the issues of air pollution the oil and gas industry has little to no involvement with creating the issue. While the city of Houston and Galveston had created guidelines for handling illegal dumping in 1999 the need to address this issue returned in early 2015. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was never considered one of the best neighborhoods but her area never experienced the levels of trash and illegal dumping that I had experienced on that particular visit. Later that year these dumping sites became a huge burden for the city and tax payers due to cleanup cost Many local governments realize huge costs involved in continuously cleaning these sites up and are beginning to invest in prevention programs . (Pasternak, 2001) To find out more about the illegal dumping that has occurred around the city I conducted interviews at Lone Star Disposal Center and Ralston Road Landfill, I was able to gather some information from both sources about a few of the hazards that can occur because of these spots, where I can find additional info and where a few of the hot spots are that illegal dumpers usually dump their
  • 3. Currently In Healthcare, There Are Many Large And Impactful Currently in healthcare, there are many large and impactful demographic groups under the microscope. These groups have the potential to shift and shape the way health and healthcare are practiced based on the way the groups engage in their health. Health professionals are very interested in how patients young and old, rich and poor, educated and uneducated, insured and uninsured are interacting and engaging. By researching and observing how these traits affect an individual or group s care, providers will be able to better tailor care to be the most impactful and useful for the patients. One of the specific demographicsthat will have considerable amounts of pull in the way healthcare is practiced today and in the future is Millennials ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Millennials Go To College by Neil Howe and William Strauss, they discuss the demographic in detail and define seven core traits of millennials. They discuss this group as beginning to finish up college, a group mentality focus, and extremely diverse (Strauss Howe, 2003). What this means is that this group is generally higher educated, more focused on groups, communities, and teams rather than themselves, and in general the group is accepting of diversity and views all people as equal. These busy individuals are often over stimulated by the amount of work and extracurriculars that they take on. Howe and Strauss also observed seven core traits of this demographic group which has the potential to have an effect on the way this group views themselves and the way they are viewed by others. These traits are that they are special, sheltered, confident, team oriented, conventional, pressured, and achieving (Strauss Howe, 2003). Each of these characteristics affects the way that this group engages in the world around them. These traits follow them through education, work, and especially healthcare, with regard to current engagement and how they will engage in the future. The characteristics of the millennial generation mentioned above affect the beliefs of the generation itself and how others perceive this demographic group from

  • 5. War Of The Roses Essay The outcome of the battle of Bosworth Field on August 22nd, 1485, has long been one of great controversy. It marked the end of one of the bloodiest civil wars in England s history, and the dawning of the much acclaimed Tudor era. Bosworth raises many a question regarding the ideas of loyalty and honour in the latter years of the medieval age. Upon which side of the battle field, if either, did true betrayal lie? The infamous War of the Roses saw families torn apart and brother turn against brother in a mad scramble to claim the English throne. How much did those years of bloodshed effect the decisions value of loyalty to one s king or lineage? This paper will discuss the evolution of the concepts of loyalty formed during the War of the Roses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the course of his lifetime he changed his loyalties at least four times. Each time could easily be construed as purely for personal advantages. Like his father and namesake, Lord Thomas seemed to prefer waiting out conflict in order to emerge on the winning side. He did this not once, but twice during Yorkist rule. Familial ties with Warwick did not stop him from siding with Edward IV, nor did rewards from Richard III keep him from sitting out for the king s final battle. Lord Thomas was motivated by personal gain and this strategy served him well. He was well rewarded by a grateful, and possibly insecure, Henry VII with lands and offices that included the much coveted properties of the now deceased Yorkist Harringtons (Horrox, p.
  • 6. Questions On Increasing Disciplinary Reading 1.Increasing Disciplinary Reading Biancarosa (2012) states in the introduction to this section that as students progress up through the grades their reading in content area courses becomes progressively more distinct (p. 47). A student in a fourth grade science course will encounter different terminology in a fourth grade social studies course and even more diverse terminology by the time they reach high school biology. However, I have often found, and Biancarosa (2012) as acknowledges that many schools do not focus on readinginstruction across content areas. Biancarosa elaborates, too often, schools do not explicitly teach students how the reasoning processes, strategies, and rules for achieving comprehension vary across the content areas (p. 47). In order to develop adolescents literacy skills we need to increase their interaction with diverse disciplinary texts. Looking at this from the higher education lens, once a student moves from the college prep classroom to the collegiate environment they will be required to demonstrate comprehension and research skills in their specialized field of study. The best measure that teachers in the K 12 arena can do to assist them for this transition is to increase their interaction with these texts during the duration of their elementary and secondary school years. 2.Help Students Achieve Proficiency in Digital Reading This was rather a common sense recommendation given how much technology and digital reading students are

  • 8. The Central Powers of World War I World War I took place between 1914 and 1918. It was a fight between the Central Powers and the Allies. The Allies included America, Britain, France, and Russia. The Central Powers were Germany, Austria Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, which is now considered Turkey. The United States was involved in the war for a short period of time; it entered the war very late. There was a deadlock between the Allies and Central Powers, but Germany knew that they were going to lose the war because of the United Statesentering; they wanted to seek an armistice. The Allied Powers ended up winning, and forced Germany to agree to the harsh terms in the armistice they had written up. The United States faced many challenges and trouble in its own country after the war. Towards the end of the war, troop movements contributed to a worldwide influenza epidemic. The disease took more than 500,000 lives alone in the United States alone in 1918 and 1919. The epidemic even killed a larger amount of people worldwide than the amount of people that had died in the war. The epidemic arose in two stages. The first phase, identified as the three day fever, appeared without warning in the late spring of 1918. Few deaths were reported. Victims recovered after a few days. When the disease surfaced again that fall, it was far more severe. Scientists, doctors, and health officials could not pinpoint this plague which was striking so viciously and fast, evading treatment and resisting control.
  • 9. Similarities Between Aslan And God The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, uses analogy to tell about God`s interactions with his creation and how great and loving God is. This analogy represents different things in the Bible many times, from Aslan taking Edmund`s place at the Stone Table to making a new world, with a recognizable England and Narnia but better, in The Last Battle. Aslan is God in Narnia, or is he? I believe Aslan represents God, because they share some similarities, but they do have some differences. In this essay, I compared God and Aslan as seen in the Bibleand The Magician`s Nephew, and have similarities and differences between Aslan and God. In the next section, the third paragraph, I have similarities, in the fourth paragraph I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when Aslan was creating Narnia, he sang, and when God created, He just spoke (Lewis 107 and Genesis 1). In Genesis 1, God said many times It was good for He was talking about His creation (Genesis 1). It also says: And God said, Let there be light, and there was light (Genesis 1). There is a difference between singing and speaking. God created humans different from everything else he had created, molded in His image and likeness (Genesis 2), but Aslan made a cabby and his wife the first king and queen, but he did not create them (Lewis 149 152). The Magician`s Nephew says: Aslan threw up his shaggy head, opened his mouth, and uttered a long, single note...when all of a sudden a young woman...and stood beside her (Polly)...the cabby`s wife (Lewis, 149). In other words, Aslan summoned the cabby`s wife to Narnia (Lewis 149). When Aslan created the animals, they grew out of the ground in Narnia, but not in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1 2 and Lewis 122 123). Wait, this is interesting. In Genesis 2: 19, it says, Now the Lord had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and birds of the sky (Genesis 2:19) . Does the Bible mean it literally, or does it mean something else and C.S. Lewis used it as a parallel in The Magician s Nephew? Aslan sang while God spoke to create a world, and only God created humans in His image. . I view Aslan as Jesus in Narnia! They created worlds and inhabitants (Lewis 107 and Genesis 1)! They know

In this stage, which begins around eleven years of age and continues through adulthood, children become capable of applying mental operations to abstract concepts. • 11. Santa Rosa Island Battle The Battle of Santa Rosa Island began as an attempt by the Confederate Army to seize the peninsula stronghold of Fort Pickens, FL during the infancy of the American Civil War. By most accounts it ended with the hasty retreat of combatant Confederate forces to mainland Florida and the reassurance of Union ground troop supremacy in the region.(Harpers Journal***) Despite the Confederate Army leadership s attempts to discredit and downplay the Union Army s decisive victory and dominance on the battlefield at Santa Rosa Island, historic accounts to the contrary have been all but wiped from existence and the accounts of the day s events have been potrayed as such. Fort Pickens garrison was an integral piece of the Union Navy s gulf blockade campaign that lasted the entirety of the war. While Confederate forces occupied all mainland forts in the Pensacola Bay Area of Operations(AO), Union Navy and and Army assets located at Fort Pickens continually denied Confederate forces logistical support from British seafaring assets in the Gulf of Mexico. A truce had been reached by both occupying Armies before the onset of The American Civil War . The agreed upon conditions in their most basic sense were that the Confederate Army Soldiers in Pensacola would not attack Fort Pickens, if the Union Army would refrain from reinforcing their position. The Confederate Army action is historically described as a retaliatory attack for a raid on the Confederate ship Judah by sailors and marines from the U.S.S. Colorado. Rowing into the bay under cover of darkness, a boat party had surprised and torched the Judah in September 1861 before Confederate troops could quell the attack. Determined to retaliate for the bold raid, General Braxton Bragg, Commanding Officer for Confederate forces in Pensacola, decided to launch an attack on the outer camps and batteries of Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa Island. General Bragg was one of the most experienced Confederate Army Commanders and commanded about 7,000 Confederate Soldiers in the Pensacola Bay area of operations. Although it is often stated that Bragg hoped to capture the fort, his real goal seems to have been to destroy the camp of the 6th New York Volunteers. (exploresouthernhistory.com) The 6th New York Volunteers consisted of 600 light infantry troops and were Commanded by Cornel William Wilson, a former politician from New York. The 6th New York Volunteers had little combat experience at this point in the war, but their reputation for drinking and mischief had followed them down
  • 12. The Pros And Cons Of The Gestapo In 1933, there was a war/battle between Germany and the Jews and many more other in Germany. There were groups that, are bad, rude, mean people that were in involved in a group in the Holocaust. The Holocaust, there are seven organizations, the fourth one was the Gestapo. A Secret Police Office or Secret State Police Force, who were a group of people who were freed to do whatever, and put random people into protective custody. The Gestapowas led by Heinrich Himmler, who was the commander of Home Forces, but someone else had already found the Gestapo first, Hermann GГ¶ring. With the two of him and the Gestapo, they did many bad things and bad stuff to people who were Germans and even Jews and they also crossed the line of their law. The Gestapo was a group of people who were being controlled and being used to do bad things to others by the person who was leading them. Gestapo s were a very bad group, they never listened to others when they needed help, they never helped any german citizens, they arrested people for no reasons and they put them into protective custody. They lied and crossed over the law for them. Another word or an abbreviation for the Gestapo s was, Geheime StaatsPolizei. They were a secret state police. To know how the Gestapo s looked like, they had to be wearing black coats and slouch hats. They were only known and famous because they were violent, torturing, and cruelty to others. Not only did they were violent to Jews, but even to their own innocent
  • 13. Differences Between Flora and Mother Essay example There is an infinite number of personalities and the best art works portray them vividly and truthfully. Some people are practical, while others are more abstract. In the comedic novels about family life, Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons (1932) and Chicken Every Sunday: My Life with Mother s Boarders by Rosemary Taylor (1943), the practical characters are in the forefront. While representing different life phases due to their age difference, Gibbons s main characterFlora Poste is quite similar in her life views and actions to Taylor s Mother. The central theme is the conflict between notions of practicality and romance, reflected by the actions of the heroines, which happen to be heavily affected by their unconventional upbringings.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both heroines personalities are heavily affected by their rather unconventional childhoods. Since Mother was born right after the Civil War and had gone through the hard and poverty stricken times in the South, [t]here was something Spartan in her nature and her seizing any possibility for making money (57). Flora s childhood was marked by her hardly knowing her parents and attending various schools, where she could hardly fit in. Overall, the theme of unconventional childhoods is one of the major themes of both novels. Most of the characters of Cold Comfort Farm seem to have psychological issues, which they developed from their childhoods. Ada Doom s seeing something nasty in the woodshed made a dominating and miserable being out of her (171). She brought up her daughter, Judit Starkadder, as an emotionally unstable. It resulted in Judith s obsession with her son, Seth Starkadder. The inferred Seth s molestation by his mother had resulted in him developing psychological issues of his own, including hate towards women and sexual promiscuity. On the contrary, Mother s and Flora s stern upbringing molded them into practical and realistic people, as well as allowed them to manipulate their surrounding characters. The novels are insightful to one of the human nature s desires of changing others. Both heroines change the lives of the whole cast of different characters, instead of allowing the environments to change them. They introduce other female characters to

  • 16. The Era Of Music During Beethoven And Dido And Aeneas By... Music is a crucial part of life. Conducting, composing, or listening to music are things most people do everyday. Music exposes feelings and portrays a part of history. Listeners enjoy different genres. They may like music of different tempos or dynamics. Many composers may only focus on one instrument to perfect. Regardless of taste or need for music, it is all important. Two of the important pieces learned in the beginning music class are SymphonyNo. 5 in C minor by Beethoven and Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. A major historical event was well underway when Beethoven was born. The Age of Enlightenment was upon the world. The peak of the period was happening right as Beethoven was born. Philosophy, science, and politics were changed. Many believe this helped the Romantic period also (Enlightenment). During Beethoven s early life, music was mainly classical. However, Beethoven was the main ingredient on changing his era of music. Beethoven studied under Haydn and Mozart, but they were not valuable relationships to him. Beethoven was mostly known for his great piano work. After branching out from more than the piano, Beethoven s work took on a more Romantic feel. He put more emotion and expression in his work than he, or most artists, did previously. This grasp between stages was very productive for Beethoven; most of his best work was completed during this time (Brief). Ludwig van Beethoven was assumed to be born in Bonn, Germany, on December 16, 1770. He died in

However, I am writing you today to address a problem I ran into at your stores and to propose a possible solution. I noticed that Lululemon clothing prices are marked up a great percentage than what a fair price would be. The fabric advertised is a special mix, Luon. However, after completing research, many brands, such as Athleta and Adidas, use a similar mix and their pants are lower in price. This would not be so much of a problem for Lululemon if the quality matched the price. Yet, there have been complaints from Lululemon customers where the clothing displayed pilling or sheerness after just a few washes something I too have experienced. A customerexpects good quality from their clothing, especially if they are willing to spend a large amount of money on it. I have a proposal to solve the problem. A successful solution would include the criteria of being affordable for everyone, creating a competitive market with athletic brands, and maintaining the quality of clothing. My solution is to lower the price of the clothing to match the quality. This would create a fair price that would compete with other athletic clothing stores. On the ... First of all, it could be argued that Lululemon would lose money by lowering the cost of clothing. This is not necessarily true as people already buy the clothing at the current price. Therefore, lowering the price would theoretically increase the sales dramatically, which in turn means Lululemon is making more money. A second objection is the fact that the pants are expensive due to the brand name. While this is true, having an even slightly lower price would attract more customers and grow the brand

Solution: Current batch processing Sales for the Executive Shirt Company are constituted of only a few basic styles and colours. Hence the company has a limited number of varieties to produce. So, it has large batches of each kind of shirt (size and color). It has only one cutting machine, which is computer controlled and can cut up to 60 layers of cloth at the same time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cycle time / shirt = 30 / 60 = 0.5 min / shirt. The work in process inventory = Total number of batches in all operations * Batch size = (16 + 144 + 12 + 12 + 12) * 60 = 196 * 60 = 11760 shirts Now we can apply Little s Law to calculate the throughput time which is equal to the manufacturing lead time in this case.
  • 22. By Little s Law, Throughput time = Work in process / Throughput rate = Work in process * Cycle time = 11760 * 0.5 = 5880 minutes Since production goes on for 8 hrs per day, manufacturing lead time = 5880 / (8 * 60) = 12.25 days Total number of shirts produced per month is 16,000. The company works for 20 days a month. So, the output per day = 16000 / 20 = 800 shirts. In, 8 hours a day, the company can produce 60 * 8 * (1/0.5) = 960 shirts, which is the current production capacity. But it needs to produce only 800 shirts. So, the capacity utilization = (800 / 960) * 100 = 83.33% The actual labor utilized = Number of shirts produced * Direct labor content = 800 * 25.76 = 20608 minutes The available labor for utilization = Total number of workers * Hours per day *

In order to understand how to prevent and test for a birth defect you need to understand some common definitions and words that can be used while reading about the topic. For starters, as stated in the merriam webster dictionary, the medical definition of defect is a lack or deficiency of something necessary for adequacy in form or function. Another word that is used a lot when talking about this subject matter is test and testing. Based on the medical definition a test is a diagnostic procedure for determining the presence or nature of a condition or disease or for revealing a change in function. Furthermore, a form of animal neglect is hoarding. Hoarding is described by the Hoarding of Animals Research Consortium as the accumulation of a large amount of animals, resulting in a lack of nutrition, sanitation, veterinary care, and failure to recognize these deteriorating conditions of being harmful to both the animal and caretaker ( Hoarding ). There are several laws prohibiting hoarding in every state and the individuals who participate can be prosecuted either by fines, jail time or banned from animal ownership. We seem to think we are invincible and that our parents know absolutely nothing. January 1st of 2015, I learned that maybe, just maybe, our parents are actually looking out for us. We should probably listen to them when they tell us to not ride a golf cart at 1 A.M. on a freezing cold winter night. My day started off just as it usually does, I wake up and go straight to the kitchen for my morning cup of hot chocolate. I knew that this day was going to be fun, it was New Year s eve. My grandparents were having a familyparty that night. I have a very close relationship with all of my family so seeing everyone together again was extremely exciting. We got to my grandparents house around 7 P.M. Most of my family arrived earlier so, I went off to see what my cousins were doing. I found them in the backyard driving rampant on my grandfather s new golf cart. Our parents eventually told us it was getting too late and to come inside. After watching the ball drop, My cousins and I decided to take my grandfather s golf cart for one more ride. Our parents told us that it was too late, too cold, and we shouldn t be going. We had the bright ideato go against what our parents had just told us and told them we were going outside to play basketball. You may have even purchased something from them. The fashion industry is a 1.2 trillion dollar global industry and employs 1.9 million people in the United States alone (Maloney, 2015). There is one market that is proving to be detrimental to this powerhouse industry. The black market of fashion, which produces counterfeitgoods that are being sold at a fraction of the price of the originals. Whatever the reason a consumer has for purchasing a counterfeit product, that sale will still influence the global economy. Counterfeiting leads to huge losses for not only the industry, but also a loss of tax revenue for governments. It is estimated that counterfeiting consists of 5% to 7% of world trade and produces profits of over 650 billion dollars annually ( Challenges of Selling , 2008). Not only does counterfeiting steal profits from legitimate retailers, but it also causes loss of jobs, other, more violent crimes, supports child labor, and puts consumers health at risk (Bell, 2016). Since most illegal counterfeiting operations are run by organized crime rings, no taxes are paid, and the profits from selling these goods are often used to support other crimes such as drug and human trafficking, money laundering and even terrorism. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives. To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned the production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and distribute alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. Gandhi s actions were comparable

Chodorow wrote Family Structure and Feminine Personality and Baudrillard wrote Simulacra and Simulations, which both talks about how individuals from their identity. The first theorist who looks at society s influences on individuals is Chodorow. Her theory falls under psychoanalytic theory, which most normal sociologist do not follow. The basis of her theory shows that a girl cannot completely reject her mother since they identify to the same gender. While her relationship grows with her father, her relationships with her mother strengthens. There is no need to break away from anything for them since girls are expected to be feminine. Since daughters spend time with their mothers so much, they act like their mothers later in life. • 40. Global Warming And Its Effect On The Marine Ecosystem Essay The fear of global warming has been looming over people, and baffling scientists for decades. Since it was recognised that climate change is becoming accelerated due to human resources, the knowledge around it has been slowly evolving. Fifty years ago, as will be discussed, thinking around the subject was quite different. Even now experts cannot come to a consensus as to what the result of climate changewill be. It is observed, at present, that global warminghas made a huge impact on the marine ecosystem as the sea temperature and amount of carbon continues to rise. One of the great concerns about global warming is its effect on the cryosphere and polar caps, of which the science will be later explored. In addition, it is predicted that if global warming continues to develop within the next ten years, the world will change drastically for the worse. Body Paragraph One: Past knowledge Fifty years ago, scientific knowledge of climate change was limited, and some predictions were far from the results. In the 1960 s to 1970 s, what we in the present day fear, global warming, was not an issue at all, actually, experts were concerned about global cooling. According to this theory, proposed by Kenneth Watson of the University of California, it was predicted that by the 21st century, the earth would have cooled enough to send the world into an ice age, and billions of people alive now would have died due to starvation, caused by crops being unable to grow. There were grand

The interview participant has worked as a RC for many years and has a strong background in statistics. According to the participant, an essential qualification for a RC is a solid understanding of statistical concepts and analyses, and the ability to build on that knowledge and apply it to statistical computer programs. This foundational knowledge is needed because a project can involve a significant amount of analysis and coding from data. The participant s current research project is a large scale project involving the implementation of public health policy for BC and Ontario. This research is dynamic and challenging and always evolving, which requires the RC to be flexible and adaptable. Despite being the lead for this project, the participant shares decision making with a variety of people and government agencies in both provinces, which brings various levels of bureaucratic challenges, including gaining access to data. This and other logistical constraints can make analyzing data and producing papers time consuming.

For this reason, murder, stealing and the seduction of women is an acceptable course of action, as long as it is held appropriate within the tribal organization. Thus, as a human being, they have a variable value and in this case, they fail to separate the individual from the social context. The consequences of adultery and stealing are prone to the specifics of those involved, e.g. adultery is only deemed wrong if it is within a clan and subclan. But again this is not an intrinsic wrong doing, as even if it goes unnoticed, no moral blame or feeling of guilt is set upon those involved. This exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What was considered to be moral is dependent upon the group and the social context accordingly. In opposition to this is the Christian evaluation of the objective good of man, and the ultimate difference, is that this is set above the social medium, in which case moral responsibilities transcend all aspects of the social context and social ties. Individuality is the acknowledgment of the self as a spiritual entity, which also envelops our personal integrity and respect for all life. Due to Gods likeness, we are given an absolute worth, encompassing the duty we must hold to ourselves and others because of his divine wisdom, and the fulfilment of an absolute teleological end. Therefore, nothing is morally just because society conveys it to be, instead we find a natural moral order within the universe, the eternal good of our infinite being. Hence, murder is always wrong, as it is linked to our intrinsic worth as human beings, which is not subordinate to a social ranking or context. With reference to Reads conception of the person in light of Christianity, it is emphasized how the person is made up of matter (the body) and form (immaterial element of the soul). Man is a spiritual being, with a rational soul, and this was also configured by Mauss, where the spirituality of the soul allows for the
