Essays About Veterans
Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Veterans" can present both challenges and
rewards. On one hand, the subject matter is deeply meaningful and important, as it involves
honoring and discussing the experiences of individuals who have served in the military. On the
other hand, navigating the vast array of perspectives, historical events, and personal stories
related to veterans requires careful research, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of the topic.
One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between providing factual information
and conveying a heartfelt appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans. Crafting an essay that
is both informative and emotionally resonant requires a delicate touch, ensuring that the reader
gains a comprehensive understanding of the subject while also connecting with the human
aspects of the stories shared.
Furthermore, it's crucial to approach the topic with sensitivity and avoid oversimplification.
Veterans have diverse experiences, and their stories encompass a wide range of emotions,
challenges, and triumphs. Navigating this complexity while maintaining clarity and focus in the
essay can be a formidable task.
In addition, the writer must be mindful of the potential emotional impact of the subject matter.
Veterans and their families may read the essay, so it's important to handle the content with
respect and avoid sensationalizing or trivializing their experiences.
However, despite the challenges, writing an essay on "Essays About Veterans" can be a
gratifying endeavor. It provides an opportunity to amplify the voices of those who have served
and create a narrative that fosters understanding and appreciation. By addressing the
complexities of the topic thoughtfully, the essay can contribute to a broader conversation about
the significance of military service and the lasting impact it has on individuals and society.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Veterans" may be
demanding due to the need for careful research, empathy, and a nuanced approach, it also offers
a chance to explore and convey the rich tapestry of experiences within the veteran community. If
you find yourself in need of assistance or inspiration, it's worth exploring resources such as

Aerospace Engineering Essay
Aerospace Engineering has paved the way for most of modern day
technologies; it has contributed to the development of stealth, reconnaissance, and
commercial aircraft, its made revolutionary breakthroughs in both fighter jet and
rocket designs including pilot/passenger safety, forever changing the outlook of
travel and modern warfare and travel. One might say; what is Aerospace
engineering? Aerospace engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the
design, development, and production of aircraft or related systems such as rockets,
spacecraft and missiles; and is closely tied to aeronautical engineering and
astronautical engineering (Aerospace Engineering).
Aerospace engineering all began with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is the air resistance on any given object that is moving in the presence of air. In the
case of an airplane this force is controlled by the thrust vector (engine/propeller).
Using the principles of flight the Wright brothers flew the first successful airplane
that they named the Wright Flyer in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina during the year of
1903. It flew a distance of approximately two football fields until landing
( Milestones of Flight ). Since the age of the Wright brothers, aerospace in itself has
grown substantially from ballistic missiles to satellites. The key principles of flight,
discovered by early engineers helped modern engineers nearly perfect design
and scrape the surface of fixed winged aircraft s full potential. Thus pushing
engineers to extend their reach into the vastness of space far beyond what Orville
and Wilbur Wright could have possibly imagined.
In modern times the Internet is the most widely used method of
communication, its not common that people would want to know about how the
internet actually works, most would just rather click and receive instant access to
the world wide web. In terms of engineering one could consider the following
hypothesis to be logical; aerospace engineers design satellites making them durable
enough to withstand the debris in space surrounding the Earth s atmosphere as well
How Democratic The European Union
T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European
Union is by analysing each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the
European context. It will take into account the special role of the European Union as
a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and the complex
relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries.
Hereby taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network
governance in which the state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has
changed from authoritative allocation from above to the role of an activator (Crum
and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of complexity remains unique
in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states. Following a
multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the
scepticism towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit
inherent in the EU are right shall be answered.
When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is
important to define democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has
various meanings and comes in different shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct
democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices direct democracy to a
mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct
democratic participation. A reasonable
Similarities Between Baseball And Cricket
Although they bear some superficial similarities the differences between Baseball
and Cricket are striking. Cricket is believed to have began in the 15th century
while Baseball wasn t started until 1839 by Abner Doubleday. Many believe that
Baseball originated from cricket, There is no accurate document that supports the
idea. Both sports have the same basic principle in how you play to win the game.
The object in both sports is to see who can score the most runs in the game or
match. The basics of both games are that the pitcher or bowler throws the ball
towards the batter and the batter swings the bat and hits the ball and there is 9 or 11
other players that try to get you out. Cricket and baseballare both considered bat and
ball games.
Analysis Of The Texas Legislature
The first Texas Legislature met in 1846 and has only had a few changes. It is a
bicameral legislature that has two chambers which include the Texas Senate, with 31
senators and the House of Representatives, with 151 House members. The
responsibility of the legislators includes promoting their constituent s concerns and
issues by addressing them during the sessions.
The Texas Legislaturemeets once every two years regular sessions of 140 days.
However, there are times when it is necessary for the governor to call special
sessions that are limited to 30 days of which he sets the agenda. There is not a limit
to the number of special sessions that can be called. These special sessions are
exercised to complete items that were not taken care of ... Show more content on

Former governor Rick Perry once said When you have a full time legislature, they
just feel pretty inclined to be doing something. So they are going to dream up new
laws, new regulations and new statutes and generally all of those cost money.
(Champagne) Government does not need to be involved in everything, but it is
necessary to try and keep order and to protect the citizens. An additional argument
against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to
the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give
in to the temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a
full time legislature would offer more time and money for the job to be completed
thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the
bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons.
The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the
issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill,
they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the
minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these
corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have
access to. Whether the legislature is currently corrupted or would be so if it becomes
a full time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the legislature is not an
Spring Awakening Critique
On September 30, 2016, I attended the musical Spring Awakening, by Steven Sater.
The musical production was performed by the West Georgia Theater Company and
directed by Shelly Elman. The production was definitely something to remember, but
after it was over I felt slightly relieved. Personally I wouldn t recommend anyone to
go see this Spring Awakening performance. Each scene brought different emotions
about such as confusion, disbelief, astonishment, humor, and shock. When arriving to
the musical I was a bit excited, because I was hearing about the content that was
supposedly being displayed on stage and I thought this musical was definitely going
to be interesting. Towards the end of the musical the title went from Spring

It seemed as if the costumes were meant to be literal and just go with the theme of
the musical. Seeing the actors switch from school regulated uniforms dress code
costumes to what seemed to be a rock band s attire was a bit annoying, because
when they were constantly ripping apart their vests and snapping it back together.
Some of their double sided costume components would be submerging out with
each change, making it very distracting. Not only were the costumes difficult to
distinguish, but some of the characters were as well. With three actors having to
play two different roles, it was hard to tell the difference between Hanschen and
Rupert, played by Bryan Jones, or Ernst and Reinhold, played by Fern Jones, or Otto
and Ulbrecht, played by Tyshawn Gooden. At one time I thought the Wendla and
Melchior were sister and brother, because both characters mother was acted out by
the same actress and it made me extremely confused at first. The only thing that
separated the actors playing multiple character roles were them changing the style or
color of a shirt or dress. The small change in clothing wasn t enough to help me
differentiate the different character
Hatshepsut Accomplishments
Traditionally, the role of a Pharaoh and King was a male dominated position,
however, one ambitious woman took both titles for herself. Hatshepsut was daughter
of the great Pharaoh, Thutmose I, married to her brother, Thutmose II, and acting as
coregent for her stepson, Thutmose III, before assuming the full responsibility of
Pharaoh. She was also arguably one of the most powerful and successful pharaohs of
the New Kingdom. Although Hatshepsuts reign was highly controversial, her
architectural and commerce advances as well as her legitimation caused her reign to
be highly successful. Hatshepsut s ability to legitimise herself as the true pharaoh,
even as a woman, was an extremely significant accomplishment of her reign.
Similarly, the architectural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well as having her father pronounce her as the next King and Pharaoh of Egypt,
Hatshepsut devised a myth of the god Amun, being her father by divine birth
(Margetts, 1951). Another inscription found in Hatshepsut s temple at Deir el
Bahari stated that she was the product of Amun and Ahmose (Hatshepsut s
mother), and as she was the god s daughter, she will be the next King of Egypt (The
Classical Historian, 2018). By connecting herself closely with the cherished god,
Amun, Hatshepsut could further extend the Egyptian people s acceptance of a
female ruler. Finally, pictorial evidence depicts Hatshepsut dressing as a man with
masculine clothes and a symbolic beard (Margetts, 1951). This source is reliable
as it came from a peer reviewed journal article containing a variety of primary
sources. Hatshepsut was drawn with red brown skin in paintings, which was
traditionally a colour reserved for men (Dunn, 2001). Hatshepsut additionally
reinforced her position by presenting herself as a traditional warrior pharaoh ,
drawn as a sphinx on obelisks at Karnak (Antiquities book). Her representation as a
male was a successful manoeuver in being respected as a true Pharaoh by the people
of Egypt. Hatshepsut s legitimation was significant in gaining her people s respect
which caused her successful rule, and allowed her to organize and implement highly
effective building and trading

Jim Hawkins In Treasure Island
In the book Treasure Island, there are two main characters, Jim Hawkins and Long
John Silver, the pirate and leader of mutineers. They sound nothing alike in the
beginning, the easily frightened Jim and the cunning and silver tongued Long John
Silver, but by the end of the story, the difference is not so profound as had been
expected. This, including the fact that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get
things done, even breaking a few rules. Jim Hawkins is the first characterintroduced
when writing down what had happened on the Island several years later. He starts
off to seem like a rather meek boy, who is afraid of the strange man in the Admiral
Benbow. This starts to change for Jim though when Billy Bones dies and he and
his mother learn of the pirates coming to the Admiral Benbow. He takes charge
when needed, as seen when he touches the body of the dead Billy Bones while
looking for a key to the chest Bones had. He also takes charge when the pirates storm
the Benbow and he keeps him and his mother hidden out of the sight of the pirates.
When Long John Silver is first introduced, however, he is in cheerful spirits (pg, 55)
and a clean, and pleasant tempered landlord (pg, 57). He is also described as very
loud and boisterous and seems to be a well liked man who is ... Show more content on

He still keeps a part of the old Jim when he sneaks off to find Ben Gunn and doesn t

also shows when he gets up on the Hispaniola which either shows bravery or

his job well, there are many skills an aspiring housekeeping manager must have.
Among them are communication, time management, and training skills. A person in
this field must also be able to motivate others to perform well in their jobs and
maybe even develop new skills. A housekeeping manager needs the focusing ability
to remain on course, adhering to a schedule when necessary, as well as the flexibility
to change directions when circumstances require adjustment. He should also be detail
oriented and capable of multitasking; math skills can be helpful as well.

The Structure Of The Skeletal System
The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ
responsible for a number of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to
providing protection and support to other organ systems, as well as permitting
movement through collaboration with the muscular system. At the cellular level, bone
provides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the acid base balance
and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective
tissue, bone has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is
made up of collagen fibers and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen
accounting for ~90% of total protein, and the noncollagenous osteocalcin,
osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making up the other 10%. In contrast
with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is mineralized
physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. This
mineral component, making up 50 70% of bone, provides bone s characteristic
mechanical rigidity and strength (Clarke 2008). Elasticity and flexibility are due to
the organic matrix, which makes up another 20 40%, lending bone incredible
resilience without compromising its strength, and another 5 10% of bone is water.
There are two major types of bone; trabecular (also called cancellous or spongy),
and cortical (also called compact). Cortical bone is denser and hard, whereas
trabecular bone is a honeycomb network
Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People
Martin Luther and John Calvin В Views on Sinful People
Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that
righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone.
The sixteenth century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic
Church resulted in the
establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin
Luther and John
Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation.
They both
proclaimed Justification as the main subject of the gospel of God s grace. They were
well acknowledged for their common doctrines of salvation as the deliverance from
sin and its
consequences. They believed that to be brought ... Show more content on

To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I
thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in
implementing
the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther
and Calvin
shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines
is very
different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they
have divergent
interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their
personalities
are extreme opposites.
Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they
believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave
credit to the
Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe
that there
are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God,
and the human
spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. The spirit that is
often
refereed to when talking about the flesh is the human spirit (what does the Bible
mean by the
flesh by Msgr. Charles Pope). We might argue that Luther is trying not to be
judgmental, that he
acknowledged the fact that efforts to live a sinВfree life is a mere dream, and the

Cultural Dislocation and the Sense of Loss: A Study of Ashima s Predicament in The
Namesake
Abstract
Due to increasing urbanization, dislocation and migration, a person s identity is
caught up in many contradictions. While trying to locate oneself in between their
root and their new existence, the sense of belonging to a particular place often gets
blurred. Modern and postmodern fiction bears a true reflection of this universal
human condition in the present world. With the diasporic writers these issues find the
most powerful, striking and convincing expression. Narrating the story of a Hindu
middle class Bengali couple that settles in the US, Jhumpa Lahiri s The Namesake
depicts the vexing issues of diasporic identities, predicament of assimilation ... Show

She chronicles dislocation and its resulting sense of loss in a strikingly powerful
manner. She blends the two cultures and creates inner turmoil for many of her
characters who struggle to balance the Western and Indian influence. To sum up, one
must acknowledge that the story beautifully portrays the postmodern predicament in
the multicultural juncture. Ashima s sense of loss and trauma, the vacuum in her
heart, speaks of the universal fate of an immigrant life. Though not easily acceptable,
this painful experience is an inextricable part in expatriate life.

Why I Am Grateful For Rowing
Why I am Grateful for Rowing
When I first joined the Texas Rowing Center, I had no idea that six months later my
life would revolve around rowing. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, because I
knew that committing to rowing would mean giving up over ten hours of precious
time a week to make space for practice. However, the decision has paid off in
innumerable ways, including the fact that rowing practice is now the highlight of
every day.
Rowing has helped me make new friends. Before I joined rowing, almost all of my
friends were from school. Now I have another way to connect with lots of people,
some of whom have become great friends. One example of a wonderful friend I have
made on crew is my friend Hannah. We are the same age, ... Show more content on

Although I can run three miles pretty fast, and I wanted to race the other fast
people on my team, I decided to stick with the slow group and help them get
motivated instead. I hated having to walk half the way, but it was helpful for me
to experience a leader. I had to practice a lot of patience. I was also elected team co
captain, which means I have a lot of organizational responsibilities as well. I feel
like Abbey, our coach, really respects me as a leader in the group. I am so thankful
for the chance to lead my peers somewhere other than at school. Being in a different
environment leading different people presents a whole new set of challenges and
benefits.
Rowing forces me to challenge myself and push my boundaries. I am especially
grateful for Abbey pushing me. She never lets me take the easy way out. If she
weren t there, I would probably not try as hard and not improve as much. When I
erg all by myself, it s really hard to get motivated, but whenever I erg at practice I
always want to show Abbey how well I can do. Even when I think I m doing my
best, she always tells me to go harder and drop my split lower, and I always find
that I can. Rowing has made me work harder than I thought possible, push farther
than I believed I could, and hurt more than I thought I could take. Through all that, I
am constantly inspired to push harder every day of practice. I love to get in the boat
and get started, and every new workout just makes me want to
Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism
Introduction
Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to
predict the collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely
debated about the role of economic models, in particular their underlying
assumptions and their ability to predict the upcoming events. Colander et al pointed
out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the failure of economic models
(Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their fingers towards
Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the validity
of assumptions is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the
usefulness of prediction matters.
Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the
description, explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the
Ricardian model as an example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the
prediction, we should also address the importance of assumptions, which would then
lead us to explore the true purpose of science.
The Ricardian Model
The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common
fallacies about the causations of trade flows. It illustrates that, instead of absolute
advantage, it is comparative advantage that brings forth the gains from trade.
Comparative advantage refers to the ability to produce a product at a lower
opportunity cost than another. This ability is the result of
God Vs Atheism Argument
The video, God vs. Atheism: Which is more rational, doesn t make sense to me. It
starts by saying faith s a belief in God, but towards the end it says God doesn t
require faith. If Faith is a belief in God, how does God not require faith? It says
Atheism requires faith but Atheists don t believe in God. How would Atheists have a
belief in God, Faith? It says faith and reason are opposites which I agree with but I
feel God has to do with faith and Atheists think they are being reasonable because
they feel science has proved God impossible, but just like the video said, the belief in
God is far more rational than Atheism. Logic can show there s a God. Nothing can
come from nothing. Things move and we know something must cause that
movement. Catholics believe God is the unmoved mover. Just because you... Show

In this, it says things don t happen by chance and most natural things lack
knowledge. There are four ways atheists go at explaining this It had to be this way,
it s only a coincidence, it just happened to be this way, and winning the cosmic

by chance and these examples would all be chance. To say something happened by
luck or chance honestly just sounds uneducated to me. This being said, the
scenario that best goes with our proof is You are at a coffee shop after class
discussing the Big Bang Theory for an upcoming test and another student asks: If
the Big Bang caused the universe, why would Christians believe in a God causing
the universe? Moreover, if God caused it, who/what caused God? Belief in God is
reasonable. The Atheists don t think God s realistic because Catholic believe God
was the beginning, the one who created everything, but science says the Big Bang
was. Atheists also feel someone had to have created God. The world s 13.7 billion

Network Synthesis Essay
Affordable mobile communication for civilian and military applications is greatly
enhanced by the significant investments in infrastructures such as cellphone towers
and repeaters. However, such infrastructures cannot be provided for ad hoc
communication systems and the network connectivity for such systems is greatly
degraded by the adverse effects of the communication channel such as multi path
fading, attenuation, non line of sight, etc. As a result, operation at longer
wavelengthes (UHF and VHF) is preferred for ground communication between army
vehicles to decrease path loss and bypass obstacles. Also because of the issues
related to near earth wave propagation, vertical polarization is the preferred choice to
achieve minimum path loss.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Window embedded wire antennas have been introduced at FM frequencies for low
power or receive only applications. The power transmitted by the army radios at
VHF and UHF frequencies can exceed tens of watts. At these power levels, it is of
crucial importance to isolate the interior of the vehicle from the antenna radiation. In
addition, this isolation eliminates the affects of the cabin interior and passengers on
the antenna input impedance and radiation pattern. Hence a transparent ground
plane will be needed behind the radiating element to reduce the radiation inside the
vehicle and at the same time increase the directivity of the antenna. A wire mesh or
a more sophisticated band selective ground plane can be used as the reflecting
element. A meshed patch antenna on a mesh ground plane can provide the required
isolation with the cabin interior. However because of the sub wavelength
dimensions of the armored windows at VHF and UHF frequencies a patch antenna,
if feasible, cannot provide the one octave bandwidth required by the army radios. In
this paper a monopole bow tie antenna backed by a cavity (armored window) is
proposed. Because of the limited thickness of the window glass, the radiation element
and the transparent ground plane need to be placed very close to each other.
Therefore the gain and/or the

time. After Virginia my parents were stationed at Kentucky so we went to
Kentucky. Lived there for a while in a house till I was 4 years of age. In Kentucky I
had my first ever pet. My parents decided to give me a hamster instead of a dog. He
was a small brown and white little pet. I was to give him a name so since I was 4

Window Treatments Essay
The window treatment business is a multi million dollar industry that dates back to
the 17th century around the time of the Industrial Revolution. Even during economic

Ready made window treatments are mass produced, prefabricated treatments that
can be easily found at most major retailers, discount stores, and a large number of
catalog and online stores. This makes them easily accessible and convenient
allowing them to be brought home and hung the same day for instant gratification.
Custom made treatments are a little more involved than driving to a store and
taking the window treatments home. The homeowner will have to decide if they
are going to hire a professional designer or recruit the help from an associate at a
retail store that specialize in custom made treatments. The whole process can take
months with more decisions to be made and time to make them. Another thing a
homeowner will have to consider is the size and shape of a window. Ready made
draperies will be available in a limited number of lengths the most common being
eighty four and ninety six inches long which would mean that these would not
work well for taller windows where the draperies would not be long enough to
touch the floor. Most ready made panels are offered in only one width which is
usually only sufficient to close over a thirty six inch wide window or smaller or
would be fine if they were meant to be stationary. If a wider width is desired, multiple
panels that are not sewn together would have to be purchased. When pursing the
custom avenue one would find out that custom window

Bernard L. Madoff and his longtime investment securities activities, which eventually
turned into an enormous fraud of incomparable size. In this report, you will begin to

illegal business behavior found in this case is too numerous to count however, quite a
few will be identified. In addition, the roles of the perpetrators, accomplices, and their
involvement in this scheme will be made known. This fraud had such an enormous

Clients were promised that Bernard Lawrence Madoff Investment Securities
(BLMIS) would invest their funds in a basket of approximately 35 50 common
stocks within the Standard amp; Poor s 100 Index (the S amp;P l00 ), a collection of
the 100 largest publicly traded companies in terms of their market capitalization.
MADOFF claimed that he would select a basket of stocks that would closely mimic
the price movements of the S amp;P 100. MADOFF further claimed that he would
opportunistically time those purchases, and would be out of the market
intermittently, investing clients funds in these periods in United States Government
issued securities such as United States Treasury bills. MADOFF also claimed that he
would hedge the investments that he made in the basket of common stocks by using
investor funds to buy and sell option contracts related to those stocks, thereby
limiting potential losses caused by unpredictable changes in stock prices. ( United

Madoff s Illegal Business Behaviors Exposure Federal prosecutors filed a total of
eleven charges against Bernard Madoff. The first of those charges was for securities
fraud. The crime of securities fraud involves false claims of investment security
holdings, and misinformation regarding stocks and brokerage advice. Sensational
insider information is also considered a component of this criminal activity. Another

The Elizabethan Er The Golden Age Of English History

World History (E Block)
March 13, 2015 The Elizabethan Era is depicted as the golden age in English
history. This age was marked as a renaissance which inspired English exploration,
international expansion and naval triumph over England s hated Spanish enemies (
Elizabethan Era. ). Queen Elizabeth I was queen from 1558 until her death in
1603, marking the Elizabethan Era. Her father was King Henry VIII, who ruled
from 1509 until his death in 1547, and was succeeded by Elizabeth s siblings
Edward and Mary. Her father s reign was shaped by his separation from the Catholic
Church, which sparked years of religious controversy in England. Queen Elizabeth s
mother was Protestant, but Elizabeth s predecessor and sister Mary was Catholic.
Navigating the religious instability that resulted from these religious changes was one
of Elizabeth s great obstacles when obtaining the throne. Despite such challenges,
Elizabeth I s reign was one of the more constructive periods in English history, due to
her success in maintaining British dominance in foreign affairs, her patronage of
literature and music, and her stabilization of religious conflict between Catholics and
Protestants ( The Greenhaven Encyclopedia of The Renaissance ).
Queen Elizabeth had great success in maintaining British dominance in foreign
affairs, including the colonies in America, and leading the defeat of the Spanish
Armada. She encouraged the English settled new colonies in the

China a strong nation. As a result, he created the big movement of the Chinese

Wife Of Bath Argument
In the beginning of the prologue, the Wife of Bath implements herself as an
authority of marriage because she has been married five times. She is justifying her
experiences against biblical authority, and interprets scripture in her own distinct
way. Given the time period in which this narrative is being told, the biblical
references that she uses were necessary in providing a valid argument. Women did
not have much say in that time; therefore, anything they said did not interest the
public. She uses those biblical references to make her points interesting, to make
people pay attention to what she has to say, even if her references are not all
plausible. The genre leans more towards a confessional, but the problem is that she
defends her sinful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The troubling issue is that none of them were women who had multiple husbands, so
her references are more in support of gender equality, which was not truly existent in
her time, rather than the justification of multiple marriages.
The Wife of Bath refers to several lexical sets of quantities and numbers to illuminate
her point that it does not matter how many husbands she should have in her lifetime,
and that there is no upon this nombre diffinicioun. The focus of the fyve, fifthe,
bigamye, and octogamye is to bring to focus that it should not be a concern of how
manye housbondes myghte she have in mariage. These words of nombres help
express her argument more effectively, as she cannot find anything to support her

individuals in the extremely small Northern Quebec community of Kangiqsualujjuaq.
After the outbreak The Public Health Agency of Canada is running over to discover
the origin of the outburst its spread. Officials are also bringing up more additional

The Traditional Family And Social Development Of The...
A snapshot of the classic yet desired white family of the 1950 s: a pale skinned
man with a pressed tie and shiny dress shoes, enjoys the pancakes and eggs his
slender and sweet wife had prepared for him before work. The gentle figure leans to
kiss her children who hustle to catch the school bus, a full lunch box in each hand
and new toys for show and tell. However, this depiction of the traditional american
familyhas been greatly modified. In her family history course, Stephanie Coontz
asked her students to illustrate their own concept of a traditional or perfect family.
Unsurprisingly, the predominating result was the stereotypical nuclear family,
consisting of only father, mother, and children. This had once been culturally correct,
but beginning in the mid 1900 s, the ideal American family has changed immensely
with social development. Although the traditional family still exists in several
households across the nation, the majority of families are far from the initial
standards.
A monumental change to the traditional American family came in 2015 when same
sex marriage was legalized. This momentous step to ensure the acceptance and
rights of ranging sexualities had not only enhanced the quality of life for same sex
couples, but also transformed the iconic household. Now that gays all across the
nation were granted their right to marry, it was no longer necessarily husband and
wife but the classic couple could be wife and wife or husband and husband . This
Mark Twain Dream Dissipated Summary
Famous satirical author in the Gilded age, Mark Twain, in his Dreams Dissipated ,
argues the Great Earthquake in San Francisco in 1865 had revealed the true animal
like behavior of the elite and other people with a following. Twain s purpose is to
unveil the true nature of the elite and influential public figures to show they are not
superior than the general public, in order for his audience not to seek guidance
from the elite and view them as people with flaws. Twain adopts a mocking tone
for his audience who may blindly follow the elite and other groups, as well to an
audience who may be unaware of the true effect it had on the people of San
Francisco. Twain supports this claim by first using intricate descriptions for each

Instead of simply stating that large sums of people were fleeing from their homes,
Twain gives the houses human like features by stating it is vomiting people. By
doing so, it helps readers have a more vivified image of the events and gain a better
apprehension. The fact that the houses were vomiting as the earthquake was
occurring, helps create an insight for the readers that a lot of people were attempting
to escape their homes with the best of their abilities as their houses collapse. Crowds
were exiting their homes all at once to save themselves and their families, making
seem as if the house were gagging. Furthermore, Twain applied hyperbole in his
writing while describing women who had raided their husbands purses to force them
to buy the latest fashion because they wanted to mimic the elite women, meanwhile
the husbands suffered as they watched. Twain had exaggerated the scene, by
portraying the wives who had attacked their husbands, but when in fact, they did not.
In reality, women were urging their husbands to purchase certain items, not physically
attacking the husbands in the process. Whereas the husbands, were not necessarily
suffering at all, except they may have been restless due to the fact that they were
waiting for their wives. Through the use of personification and hyperbole, Twain
describes the earthquake

the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (United States

people of the United States safe from a tyrannical government. This is not only

The constant discussion of taking away firearms or limiting their uses, causes the
public to go to the nearest firearm dealer and purchase the sorts of weapons being
banned before the legislation is enforced. Now there is a bigger problem, people
who have never touched a firearm now are an owner of such weapons. Some people
decided to give away these banned firearms, and could possibly give that weapon to a
criminal through private purchasing, making the amount of private sales increase
drastically. With more private sales, more unregistered firearm owners now have the
banned firearms in their possession making it easier to commit crimes such as the
previously mentioned mass shootings. Ironicly the laws made to stop such shootings

August 14 Persuasive Speech
We are met to commemorate the anniversary of one of the most dreadful crimes in
history not for the purpose of condemning it, but to repent for our share in it. We
do not start any agitation with regard to that particular crime. I understand that an
attempt to prosecute the chief criminals has been made, and has entirely failed;
because the whole community, and in a sense our whole people, are really
involved in the guilt. The failure of the prosecution in this case, in all such cases,
is only a proof of the magnitude of the guilt, and of the awful fact that everyone
shares in it. I will tell you why I am here; I will tell you what happened to me.

The trouble has come down to us out of the past. The only reason slavery is wrong
is that it is cruel, and makes men cruel and leaves them cruel. Someone may say
that you and I cannot repent because we did not do the act. But we are involved in
it. We are still looking on. Do you not see that this whole event is merely the last
parable, the most vivid, the most terrible illustration that ever was given by man or
imagined by a Jewish prophet, of the relation between good and evil in this world,
and of the relation of men to one another? This whole matter has been an historic
episode; but it is a part, not only of our national history, but of the personal history
of each one of us. With the great disease (slavery) came the climax (the war), and
after the climax gradually began the cure, and in the process of cure comes now
the knowledge of what the evil was. I say that our need is new life, and that books
and resolutions will not save us, but only such disposition in our hearts and souls as
will enable the new life, love, force, hope, virtue, which surround us always, to enter

what he really stands in need of he cannot get for himself, but must wait till God

The Han And Roman Attitudes Towards Technology
Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Advancement The Han and Roman worlds were
two of the largest and most complex early empires composed of different cultures,
political systems, languages, beliefs, and ways of living. However, they had a few
similarities; one of which is the introduction of various technologies during the first
and second millennium. The Han in China and Romans in the Mediterranean
experienced a time period of expansion in which they began to develop technology
such as metallurgy and water systems to aid in military conquests and practical
purposes. Although both Han and Roman had definite appreciation towards
technology, the Han attitude towards technology was more glorifying in its
effectiveness and utility; while the roman attitude was less glorifying as they focused
on technology to display their civilizations advancements, while they neglected to
glorify those who worked with tools. Han s attitude towards technology was
appreciative, glorified technology when its is supported by the government, and
believed technology is essential for the empire. The Roman attitude includes
inferiority of tools, aestheticism as main use of technology, and less glorification and
importance on technology. Hans appreciation towards technology is depicted in their
usage to improve society by making it run more efficiently. For instance, In document

Clara Barton Women In The Military
Clara Barton, who was born in 1821, grew up in Massachusetts. Growing up with
five siblings, she was taught that women weren t supposed to do activities such as
being a nurse or working in the military. While this was not the norm, she wished
to become a nurse as a child because she was influenced by her father who worked
in the military. She was a rebel. He would come home to tell her tales of his time in
the military which often included stories of his wounded cohorts. At only ten years
old, she took it upon herself to nurse her brother back to health after he fell off the
roof of their barn. Eventually, she turned to teaching as she got older. During her
time as a teacher her students were so well behaved the parents deemed her the best
discipliner. Offended, she requested them to take back this name. Bartonfared well as

his only son to die on the cross God, loving and merciful, showed he cared about his

their children. No caring for mortals there. Surprisingly that s just one of the many
qualities that separates the Odyssey gods to the real almighty God. While that by

The Unknown Citizen By Auden
The Unknown Citizen, written by W. H. Auden, is a poem that describes a man
who lived a life most people would see as ideal. The man illustrated by this poem
did what society expected him to do, which resulted in a model life. This poem,
however, can be seen in more than one way. Some may see the story in the poem
as a description of a man who had an unfulfilling life because he did exactly what
was expected of him. Instead of trying something new, exploring the world, or
making a change, the man did what everyone else regarded as acceptable. W. H.
Audens poem can be seen from two perspectives: the man who lived an ideal life
that many people sought to have or the man who lived an unfulfilling, ordinary life
which caused him to blend in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
W. H. Auden s poem, The Unknown Citizen, is a great example of this because one
can find at least two meanings within the poem. One person could see the poem as
a description of a perfect man while someone else could see the poem as a message
to be unique and make a change in the world. The man in the poem fulfilled society s
expectations, but at the same time, the man may not have had a fulfilling life. These
two ideas could not be the only interpretations of the poem. Other readers may

Unknown Citizen describes the life of an unknown man, but the reader must decide

Walter Disney Elias
Walter Disney Elias was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois to Elias
Disney (father) and Flora Call Disney (mother). Walt was named after his dad
Elias. Walt was one of 5 kids in his household: one girl and four boys. Walt lived
most of his life in Marceline, Missouri, on a farm. Walt Disney first discovered his
interest in drawing when he was seven years old. Though he sometimes didn t
have paper to draw on, he used napkins or drew on what he could find. Walt made
money when he was only seven by selling small sketches and drawings to his
neighbors and people he knew. One time Walt convinced his sister Ruth to help
him paint one of the sides of their house with tar, only to get in trouble by his mom.
As a child Walt had many small jobs to help him make money; he sold drawings,
newspapers, popcorn, and soda to travelers that passed by the railroads near his
house. Education Walt didn t start school till he was seven because his dad though

again in 1912, the Disney family moved to Chicago, Illinois because one night Roy
decided to leave home and that put a lot of pressure on Walt for delivering the

Twain gained much of his knowledge since he had little formal schooling. In 1853,
Twain left Hannibal, displaying the yearning for travel that he would experience

to Keokuk, Iowa, to assist his brother with more printing business.
In 1857, Twain made plans to travel to South America, and in April of that year, he
started down the Mississippi River toward New Orleans. It was on this trip that
Twain made a decision with important consequences for his life and career. He met
a pilot named Horace Bixby who revived Twain s boyhood dream of learning the
river. So, instead of traveling to South America, Twain persuaded the riverboat pilot
to teach him the skills of piloting. By April 1859, Twain had become a licensed
riverboat pilot and he continued with this job until secession of the South from the
Union closed the river. Mark Twainserved briefly in the Marion Rangers, a militia

Being the first person drafted in the 1990s in the 2009 NBA Draft Ricky Rubio
went from enigma to one of the league best passers. In ____ seasons, he s averaged
________. During his time with the Wolves his teams have never sniffed the
playoffs, and for the most part the Timberwolves remained a team marked with a lot
of change instead of building a team built consistency. At only ____ years old Rubio
is Minnesota most tenured player. He s the point guard of the team and, is viewed as
the quarterback, the leader, an extension of the coach while the team is on the floor.

During some points, this season the Timberwolves were in games until the end. Let s
chalk it up to inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team?
We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re
just giving up leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the
will to win.
A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points
of the game. As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do
to kind of settle the young players down?
Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three,
instead of a two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s
easy to talk about it now. It hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s
when veterans come in.
Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think
they won t make some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you
think once they get older they ll start to slow down?
I mean with experience you learn how to play close games, but like I said you need
the will to win, and play more
Betrayal In Hamlet
Hamlet himself has left, he has lived outside his land, he has wanted to keep away
from a system that betrays all his principles, but he is too attached to the trunk and
has returned. Now he sees his world as a foreigner who does not want to take sides,
has been dethroned and in its place reigns corruption and chaos. He knows that to
fight against this order of things with his arguments is useless and he is not willing
to do it in terms of what a transmutation of character should endure, which is worse
than a renunciation, it would be a betrayal of himself. We see Hamletwith his white
hands, he is just a big boy who has not had his hands involved with reality, he still

His hands have stuck more and more into the mud and he has already killed in self
defense. But long before this, Hamlet has already intuited that his life will be
dedicated on restoring order and justice for the death of his father and that this is an
impossible task that it can only be achieved through the means of revenge. Hamlet
intuits that he is condemned and that there is only one way left, forward whatever
happens. He is no longer the humanist graduated from Wittenberg, he has fully
recognized his wild side and knows he s capable of reaching inhuman limits. He has

The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
The Man, The Boy, and the remains of a dead world are the only constants the
reader will know as they make their journey down The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
The novel tells a story of the nameless protagonists as they traverse through a post
apocalyptic land in an attempt to reach the warm coast before winter. McCarthy s
story also covers many dark and heavy topics primarily death. He has said himself
that death especially is a major issue in the world, and that writers who do not
address it are not serious. As a manof his word, McCarthy has written The Road with
imagery and metaphor alluding to how death stays as a heavy presence even after it
has done its work. The book s dystopia is a result of all of the worst faults of
humanity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McCarthy also tends to avoid any assignment of speech; one does not know who is
speaking because McCarthy has explicitly written that The Boy or The Man has said
it, if the reader cannot understand who is saying what then the writer has not done
their job. He sees no need for complex and elaborate constructions of literature when
words on their own can be simple yet profound in delivery in messages. I specifically
chose to read this book because McCarthy is the opposite of myself. I thoroughly
respect this ability in him. While I might find other authors like Poe who do the
(stark) opposite to be more entertaining, I cannot deny that there is something so
remarkable about an author who can manage something so beautiful and direct naked
writing. It demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that went into
each word.
McCarthy s approach to storytelling, simple yet definitive, conveys far more than
what is printed on paper. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the use of metaphor within
descriptions of setting does the same. Many times throughout the story are trees
mentioned. At first, the frequency may seem peculiar it is always yellowing dead
trees that are mentioned, and this initially serves to reveal to the reader that an
unknown apocalypse has basically killed the earth and most of its flora. However,
the constant presence of the dead trees is also a reminder that even though death has
come and gone the skeletons it leaves behind will
The Diary Of Anne Frank
I.History
1.When studying past events, historians use primary and secondary resources to
gather information. A primary resource is a historical piece of evidence, such as an
artifact or document, which was made at the time of the event, firsthand. A secondary
resource is a document that was created by someone whom was not present at the time
of the event, basing their information off of various primary resources. The
difference between the two is that with a primary resource the account is more
direct being from someone who most likely has great knowledge of the matter or is
involved, where as a secondary resource is not as reliable coming from someone who
may or may not know much about the event. Although, a secondary resource could ...

3.Event history or history from above is history written by the members of the
higher class or those thought of as more important at the time. History from below,
developed after history from above , gave a voice to those who were thought of as
unimportant, such as women and the poor. In both, people are given insight on a
particular event in history, however from two different perspectives. In history
from above , one reads the event from the higher class therefore, in most cases, the
best case scenario from the event. However in history from below , one reads from
the perspective of the less fortunate whom, in most cases, got the worst from the
event being in the lower class or lower in society in general. It changes one s
perspective on history because they see the event from two different sides: the elite
and the unimportant.
4.Bias is favor or dislike towards a particular thing, person, or group. Bias relates
to history because some sources could be written bias to a particular thing, person,
or group in an event in history. Reading the source could change people s views on
the event. It could persuade them to think in the way the source was written and to
follow along with the author of the source s beliefs. It could make people unfairly
judge the event in history based off how the source portrays its favored thing, person,
or group. It is
How Did Pop Culture Influence The Culture Of The 1920 s
The 1920 s, also called the Roaring Twenties, was a decade of change throughout the
entire country. Although cultures among the United States vary, the wide spread of
technology is something all regions of America can relate to. From East to West,
changes in entertainment, sports, and radio were major contributions to the change
of pop culture. The 1920 s was the beginning of a new era that shaped the way the
United Statesforever viewed the media. A chain reaction was built throughout the
twenties, making the country closer from coast to coast. As soon as one area thrived,
all three areas (entertainment, sports, and radio) benefited.
The radio especially turned the entire United States towards a new age of
communication never seen before by mankind. What once took days or even weeks
to deliver, now took the citizens only moments to receive the news as it broke. The
radio not only improved the time frame of converting news, but created many new
entertainment opportunities. With the convenience of a radio, it was no longer
necessary to leave the house when pondering upon the score of the local baseball
game. Music also became a hit during the 20s. During this time period, people started
becoming dubbed as famous, or in other words, universally known. In the sense of
communication, the radio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the radio broadcasting sporting reports and individuals becoming more popular,
sports stars were inevitably created. This lead to the emergence of larger organized
sports, such as: the National Football League and the first Olympic Winter Games.
Athletes like Babe Ruth and Jack Dempsey benefited from the invention of the radio,
as it allowed anyone to listen to their athletic achievements the moment they occurred.
However as more people listened to these stars the less they actually played the games
themselves developing more a fan aspect throughout the

Historical Influence In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
History plays an important part in shaping the lives of people and the literary works
they produce. While not readily apparent, history can influence stories and their
messages; it plays a pivotal role in how the authors write in their stories because
events in real life affect how people think during a certain time period. Authors, like
Edgar Allan Poe, used events that happened during his time to write some of his
stories, and The Raven shows how well Edgar Allan Poe writes, which got him
literary fame (Mays 107 108). William Faulkner used the events that happened
around him in his stories and would later receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in
1950 (298 299). Amy Tan, who wrote The Joy Luck Club, also uses history in her
story. Stories... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story starts off with a girl named June May leaving Hong Kong and entering
China. She says she is becoming Chinese (Tan 179). While on her way, she tells
the reader how her trip is about seeing her lost sisters, and she recalls how she
found out about them. When she arrives at her destination, she and her father run
into her family from China. Her father talks to her relatives, and then they head
towards their hotel. When they arrive, June May thinks that her travel agent made
a mistake with the hotel, but it turns out that she is wrong. The group stays at the
hotel, and June May convinces her father to tell how her mother met him. Then
June May, on a plane on route to see her sisters, she wonders how she is going to
tell her sisters about their mother. When she gets off the plane and arrives at the
airport, she sees her sisters who bear a striking resemblance to her mother. At first,
she believes that she sees her mother standing right in front of her, but upon closer
inspection, she discovers two different people. The story ends with the sisters taking
a photo together. One interesting fact about Suyuan Woo s story is how vague the
setting is. While the story does not specify when it happens, research shows that the
story takes place in World War II during the Sino Japanese War. This fact correlates to
the time that Amy Tan s mother left her three daughters in 1947, and the Sino

Blue Winds Dancing Whitecloud

closeness of a Native American and his home to values learned along the way. As
we continue to read the entire story, you will discover how the content and various
selections of literary are well created. Whitecloud introduces this story in the 1930

his Indian culture way of life. Whitecloud says, that These civilized white men
want us to be like them always dissatisfied getting a hill and wanting a mountain

During Blue Winds Dancing, Whitecloud defines settings in several different ways.
Across the valley there are heavy mountains holding up the night sky, and beyond
the mountains there is my home (pg. 320). Home, and peace, and the beat of
drums, and blue winds dancing over snowfields (pg. 320). He s describing the love
he feels for his environment while being absent. Another example, when he says, I
am tired. I want to walk again among the ghost birches. I want to see the leaves turn
in autumn, the smoke rise from the lodge houses, and to feel the winds again (pg.

college. He s feeling homesick and baffled about which path he should take his life.

Immigration Happy Path Essay
Immigration Happy path?
Day in and day out, immigrants work hard to achieve permanent residency or
citizenship in the U.S. and live in constant fear. While some Americans understand
that the immigration strengthens the American society by attracting the intellectual
and entrepreneurs, others are taking it to social media to express their humor or anti
immigration feelings saying immigrants are a threat to Americans customs and
values. A few are even attacking immigrant groups with foul language and violence.
One such incident occurred just a few months ago in February, 2017. Patrons at a
Kansas bar kicked Adam W. Purinton, a US citizen and a Kansas resident, out because
he was questioning two Indian bar patrons immigration status and throwing racial
slurs at them. Angry Purinton returned to the bar with a handgun that same night and
shot at the two Indians, killing one and wounding the other. Later in court, the
indictment accused Purinton of shooting the two men because of their actual and
perceived race, color, religion and national origin. Not even two weeks later, an
Indian born man was outside his house in Seattle when an attacker shouted, Go back
to your own country before shooting him in the arm. Incidents like these are leaving
many Indian immigrants worried for themselves and their families. As an Indian born
immigrant myself, I feel the need to address the laborious immigration process, and
some underlying struggles the immigrants face.

Essays About Veterans. Why Should We Honor Our Veterans Essay Example

  • 1. Essays About Veterans Writing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Veterans" can present both challenges and rewards. On one hand, the subject matter is deeply meaningful and important, as it involves honoring and discussing the experiences of individuals who have served in the military. On the other hand, navigating the vast array of perspectives, historical events, and personal stories related to veterans requires careful research, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of the topic. One of the difficulties lies in striking the right balance between providing factual information and conveying a heartfelt appreciation for the sacrifices made by veterans. Crafting an essay that is both informative and emotionally resonant requires a delicate touch, ensuring that the reader gains a comprehensive understanding of the subject while also connecting with the human aspects of the stories shared. Furthermore, it's crucial to approach the topic with sensitivity and avoid oversimplification. Veterans have diverse experiences, and their stories encompass a wide range of emotions, challenges, and triumphs. Navigating this complexity while maintaining clarity and focus in the essay can be a formidable task. In addition, the writer must be mindful of the potential emotional impact of the subject matter. Veterans and their families may read the essay, so it's important to handle the content with respect and avoid sensationalizing or trivializing their experiences. However, despite the challenges, writing an essay on "Essays About Veterans" can be a gratifying endeavor. It provides an opportunity to amplify the voices of those who have served and create a narrative that fosters understanding and appreciation. By addressing the complexities of the topic thoughtfully, the essay can contribute to a broader conversation about the significance of military service and the lasting impact it has on individuals and society. In conclusion, while composing an essay on the topic of "Essays About Veterans" may be demanding due to the need for careful research, empathy, and a nuanced approach, it also offers a chance to explore and convey the rich tapestry of experiences within the veteran community. • 2. Aerospace Engineering Essay Aerospace Engineering has paved the way for most of modern day technologies; it has contributed to the development of stealth, reconnaissance, and commercial aircraft, its made revolutionary breakthroughs in both fighter jet and rocket designs including pilot/passenger safety, forever changing the outlook of travel and modern warfare and travel. One might say; what is Aerospace engineering? Aerospace engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with the design, development, and production of aircraft or related systems such as rockets, spacecraft and missiles; and is closely tied to aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering (Aerospace Engineering). Aerospace engineering all began with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drag is the air resistance on any given object that is moving in the presence of air. In the case of an airplane this force is controlled by the thrust vector (engine/propeller). Using the principles of flight the Wright brothers flew the first successful airplane that they named the Wright Flyer in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina during the year of 1903. It flew a distance of approximately two football fields until landing ( Milestones of Flight ). Since the age of the Wright brothers, aerospace in itself has grown substantially from ballistic missiles to satellites. The key principles of flight, discovered by early engineers helped modern engineers nearly perfect design and scrape the surface of fixed winged aircraft s full potential. Thus pushing engineers to extend their reach into the vastness of space far beyond what Orville and Wilbur Wright could have possibly imagined. In modern times the Internet is the most widely used method of
  • 3. communication, its not common that people would want to know about how the internet actually works, most would just rather click and receive instant access to the world wide web. In terms of engineering one could consider the following hypothesis to be logical; aerospace engineers design satellites making them durable enough to withstand the debris in space surrounding the Earth s atmosphere as well
  • 4. How Democratic The European Union T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European Union is by analysing each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the European context. It will take into account the special role of the European Union as a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and the complex relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries. Hereby taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network governance in which the state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has changed from authoritative allocation from above to the role of an activator (Crum and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of complexity remains unique in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states. Following a multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the scepticism towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit inherent in the EU are right shall be answered. When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is important to define democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has various meanings and comes in different shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices direct democracy to a mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct democratic participation. A reasonable
  • 5. Similarities Between Baseball And Cricket Although they bear some superficial similarities the differences between Baseball and Cricket are striking. Cricket is believed to have began in the 15th century while Baseball wasn t started until 1839 by Abner Doubleday. Many believe that Baseball originated from cricket, There is no accurate document that supports the idea. Both sports have the same basic principle in how you play to win the game. The object in both sports is to see who can score the most runs in the game or match. The basics of both games are that the pitcher or bowler throws the ball towards the batter and the batter swings the bat and hits the ball and there is 9 or 11 other players that try to get you out. Cricket and baseballare both considered bat and ball games.
  • 6. Analysis Of The Texas Legislature The first Texas Legislature met in 1846 and has only had a few changes. It is a bicameral legislature that has two chambers which include the Texas Senate, with 31 senators and the House of Representatives, with 151 House members. The responsibility of the legislators includes promoting their constituent s concerns and issues by addressing them during the sessions. The Texas Legislaturemeets once every two years regular sessions of 140 days. However, there are times when it is necessary for the governor to call special sessions that are limited to 30 days of which he sets the agenda. There is not a limit to the number of special sessions that can be called. These special sessions are exercised to complete items that were not taken care of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Former governor Rick Perry once said When you have a full time legislature, they just feel pretty inclined to be doing something. So they are going to dream up new laws, new regulations and new statutes and generally all of those cost money. (Champagne) Government does not need to be involved in everything, but it is necessary to try and keep order and to protect the citizens. An additional argument against a full time legislation is the belief that it would increase corruption due to the fact that the legislators would have more time together to deliberate and give in to the temptation of unethical practices. (Champagne 217) My opinion is that a full time legislature would offer more time and money for the job to be completed thoroughly. Instead of scheming, they would be able to research and discuss the bills as they are being submitted. It seems that corruption is caused for two reasons. The first being that currently there is simply not enough time to tackle all the issues, so when one is approached with being persuaded to support a certain bill, they act on it when they might not have even known that it existed. Secondly, the minimal amount of pay for this job could play a role in one being tempted to these corrupt practices for money or to enjoy things that they would otherwise not have access to. Whether the legislature is currently corrupted or would be so if it becomes a full time, it is difficult to deny the fact that the legislature is not an
  • 7. Spring Awakening Critique On September 30, 2016, I attended the musical Spring Awakening, by Steven Sater. The musical production was performed by the West Georgia Theater Company and directed by Shelly Elman. The production was definitely something to remember, but after it was over I felt slightly relieved. Personally I wouldn t recommend anyone to go see this Spring Awakening performance. Each scene brought different emotions about such as confusion, disbelief, astonishment, humor, and shock. When arriving to the musical I was a bit excited, because I was hearing about the content that was supposedly being displayed on stage and I thought this musical was definitely going to be interesting. It seemed as if the costumes were meant to be literal and just go with the theme of the musical. Seeing the actors switch from school regulated uniforms dress code costumes to what seemed to be a rock band s attire was a bit annoying, because when they were constantly ripping apart their vests and snapping it back together. Some of their double sided costume components would be submerging out with each change, making it very distracting. Not only were the costumes difficult to distinguish, but some of the characters were as well. With three actors having to play two different roles, it was hard to tell the difference between Hanschen and Rupert, played by Bryan Jones, or Ernst and Reinhold, played by Fern Jones, or Otto and Ulbrecht, played by Tyshawn Gooden. At one time I thought the Wendla and Melchior were sister and brother, because both characters mother was acted out by the same actress and it made me extremely confused at first. The only thing that separated the actors playing multiple character roles were them changing the style or color of a shirt or dress. The small change in clothing wasn t enough to help me differentiate the different character
  • 8. Hatshepsut Accomplishments Traditionally, the role of a Pharaoh and King was a male dominated position, however, one ambitious woman took both titles for herself. Hatshepsut was daughter of the great Pharaoh, Thutmose I, married to her brother, Thutmose II, and acting as coregent for her stepson, Thutmose III, before assuming the full responsibility of Pharaoh. She was also arguably one of the most powerful and successful pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Although Hatshepsuts reign was highly controversial, her architectural and commerce advances as well as her legitimation caused her reign to be highly successful. Hatshepsut s ability to legitimise herself as the true pharaoh, even as a woman, was an extremely significant accomplishment of her reign. Similarly, the architectural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well as having her father pronounce her as the next King and Pharaoh of Egypt, Hatshepsut devised a myth of the god Amun, being her father by divine birth (Margetts, 1951). Another inscription found in Hatshepsut s temple at Deir el Bahari stated that she was the product of Amun and Ahmose (Hatshepsut s mother), and as she was the god s daughter, she will be the next King of Egypt (The Classical Historian, 2018). By connecting herself closely with the cherished god, Amun, Hatshepsut could further extend the Egyptian people s acceptance of a female ruler. Finally, pictorial evidence depicts Hatshepsut dressing as a man with masculine clothes and a symbolic beard (Margetts, 1951). This source is reliable as it came from a peer reviewed journal article containing a variety of primary sources. Hatshepsut was drawn with red brown skin in paintings, which was traditionally a colour reserved for men (Dunn, 2001). Hatshepsut additionally reinforced her position by presenting herself as a traditional warrior pharaoh , drawn as a sphinx on obelisks at Karnak (Antiquities book). Her representation as a male was a successful manoeuver in being respected as a true Pharaoh by the people of Egypt. Hatshepsut s legitimation was significant in gaining her people s respect which caused her successful rule, and allowed her to organize and implement highly effective building and trading

  • 10. Jim Hawkins In Treasure Island In the book Treasure Island, there are two main characters, Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver, the pirate and leader of mutineers. They sound nothing alike in the beginning, the easily frightened Jim and the cunning and silver tongued Long John Silver, but by the end of the story, the difference is not so profound as had been expected. This, including the fact that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get things done, even breaking a few rules. Jim Hawkins is the first characterintroduced when writing down what had happened on the Island several years later. He starts off to seem like a rather meek boy, who is afraid of the strange man in the Admiral Benbow. He takes charge when needed, as seen when he touches the body of the dead Billy Bones while looking for a key to the chest Bones had. He also takes charge when the pirates storm the Benbow and he keeps him and his mother hidden out of the sight of the pirates. • 12. The Structure Of The Skeletal System The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ responsible for a number of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to providing protection and support to other organ systems, as well as permitting movement through collaboration with the muscular system. At the cellular level, bone provides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the acid base balance and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective tissue, bone has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is made up of collagen fibers and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen accounting for ~90% of total protein, and the noncollagenous osteocalcin, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making up the other 10%. In contrast with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is mineralized physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. This mineral component, making up 50 70% of bone, provides bone s characteristic mechanical rigidity and strength (Clarke 2008). Elasticity and flexibility are due to the organic matrix, which makes up another 20 40%, lending bone incredible resilience without compromising its strength, and another 5 10% of bone is water. There are two major types of bone; trabecular (also called cancellous or spongy), and cortical (also called compact). Cortical bone is denser and hard, whereas trabecular bone is a honeycomb network

Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People Martin Luther and John Calvin В Views on Sinful People Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone. The sixteenth century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic Church resulted in the establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation. To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities are extreme opposites. Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the

The Reformers and the Protestants believe that there are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God, and the human spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. The spirit that is often refereed to when talking about the flesh is the human spirit (what does the Bible mean by the flesh by Msgr. Charles Pope). Modern and postmodern fiction bears a true reflection of this universal human condition in the present world. • 17. Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism Introduction Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to predict the collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely debated about the role of economic models, in particular their underlying assumptions and their ability to predict the upcoming events. Colander et al pointed out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the failure of economic models (Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their fingers towards Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the validity of assumptions is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the usefulness of prediction matters. Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the description, explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the Ricardian model as an example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the prediction, we should also address the importance of assumptions, which would then lead us to explore the true purpose of science. The Ricardian Model The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common fallacies about the causations of trade flows. It illustrates that, instead of absolute advantage, it is comparative advantage that brings forth the gains from trade. Comparative advantage refers to the ability to produce a product at a lower opportunity cost than another. This ability is the result of

Network Synthesis Essay Affordable mobile communication for civilian and military applications is greatly enhanced by the significant investments in infrastructures such as cellphone towers and repeaters. However, such infrastructures cannot be provided for ad hoc communication systems and the network connectivity for such systems is greatly degraded by the adverse effects of the communication channel such as multi path fading, attenuation, non line of sight, etc. As a result, operation at longer wavelengthes (UHF and VHF) is preferred for ground communication between army vehicles to decrease path loss and bypass obstacles. Also because of the issues related to near earth wave propagation, vertical polarization is the preferred choice to achieve minimum path loss.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Window embedded wire antennas have been introduced at FM frequencies for low power or receive only applications. The power transmitted by the army radios at VHF and UHF frequencies can exceed tens of watts. At these power levels, it is of crucial importance to isolate the interior of the vehicle from the antenna radiation. In addition, this isolation eliminates the affects of the cabin interior and passengers on the antenna input impedance and radiation pattern. Hence a transparent ground plane will be needed behind the radiating element to reduce the radiation inside the vehicle and at the same time increase the directivity of the antenna. A wire mesh or a more sophisticated band selective ground plane can be used as the reflecting element. A meshed patch antenna on a mesh ground plane can provide the required isolation with the cabin interior. However because of the sub wavelength dimensions of the armored windows at VHF and UHF frequencies a patch antenna, if feasible, cannot provide the one octave bandwidth required by the army radios. In this paper a monopole bow tie antenna backed by a cavity (armored window) is proposed. Because of the limited thickness of the window glass, the radiation element and the transparent ground plane need to be placed very close to each other. Therefore the gain and/or the

Her father was King Henry VIII, who ruled from 1509 until his death in 1547, and was succeeded by Elizabeth s siblings Edward and Mary. Her father s reign was shaped by his separation from the Catholic Church, which sparked years of religious controversy in England. Queen Elizabeth s mother was Protestant, but Elizabeth s predecessor and sister Mary was Catholic. Navigating the religious instability that resulted from these religious changes was one of Elizabeth s great obstacles when obtaining the throne. Despite such challenges, Elizabeth I s reign was one of the more constructive periods in English history, due to her success in maintaining British dominance in foreign affairs, her patronage of literature and music, and her stabilization of religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants ( The Greenhaven Encyclopedia of The Renaissance ). The Han And Roman Attitudes Towards Technology Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Advancement The Han and Roman worlds were two of the largest and most complex early empires composed of different cultures, political systems, languages, beliefs, and ways of living. However, they had a few similarities; one of which is the introduction of various technologies during the first and second millennium. The Han in China and Romans in the Mediterranean experienced a time period of expansion in which they began to develop technology such as metallurgy and water systems to aid in military conquests and practical purposes. Although both Han and Roman had definite appreciation towards technology, the Han attitude towards technology was more glorifying in its effectiveness and utility; while the roman attitude was less glorifying as they focused on technology to display their civilizations advancements, while they neglected to glorify those who worked with tools. Han s attitude towards technology was appreciative, glorified technology when its is supported by the government, and believed technology is essential for the empire. While this was not the norm, she wished to become a nurse as a child because she was influenced by her father who worked in the military. She was a rebel. He would come home to tell her tales of his time in the military which often included stories of his wounded cohorts. At only ten years old, she took it upon herself to nurse her brother back to health after he fell off the roof of their barn. Eventually, she turned to teaching as she got older. During her time as a teacher her students were so well behaved the parents deemed her the best discipliner. Offended, she requested them to take back this name. In many ways they are very different. Sending his only son to die on the cross God, loving and merciful, showed he cared about his mortals, while the gods of The Odysseywill try to kill you even if you slightly offend their children. The man illustrated by this poem did what society expected him to do, which resulted in a model life. This poem, however, can be seen in more than one way. Some may see the story in the poem as a description of a man who had an unfulfilling life because he did exactly what was expected of him. Instead of trying something new, exploring the world, or making a change, the man did what everyone else regarded as acceptable. W. H. McCarthy s story also covers many dark and heavy topics primarily death. He has said himself that death especially is a major issue in the world, and that writers who do not address it are not serious. McCarthy also tends to avoid any assignment of speech; one does not know who is speaking because McCarthy has explicitly written that The Boy or The Man has said it, if the reader cannot understand who is saying what then the writer has not done their job. He sees no need for complex and elaborate constructions of literature when words on their own can be simple yet profound in delivery in messages. I specifically chose to read this book because McCarthy is the opposite of myself. I thoroughly respect this ability in him. While I might find other authors like Poe who do the (stark) opposite to be more entertaining, I cannot deny that there is something so remarkable about an author who can manage something so beautiful and direct naked writing. It demonstrates the depth of thought and careful consideration that went into each word. McCarthy s approach to storytelling, simple yet definitive, conveys far more than what is printed on paper. Therefore, it is unsurprising that the use of metaphor within descriptions of setting does the same. Many times throughout the story are trees mentioned. At first, the frequency may seem peculiar it is always yellowing dead trees that are mentioned, and this initially serves to reveal to the reader that an unknown apocalypse has basically killed the earth and most of its flora. However, the constant presence of the dead trees is also a reminder that even though death has come and gone the skeletons it leaves behind will

While some Americans understand that the immigration strengthens the American society by attracting the intellectual and entrepreneurs, others are taking it to social media to express their humor or anti immigration feelings saying immigrants are a threat to Americans customs and values. A few are even attacking immigrant groups with foul language and violence. One such incident occurred just a few months ago in February, 2017. Patrons at a Kansas bar kicked Adam W. Purinton, a US citizen and a Kansas resident, out because he was questioning two Indian bar patrons immigration status and throwing racial slurs at them. Angry Purinton returned to the bar with a handgun that same night and shot at the two Indians, killing one and wounding the other. Later in court, the indictment accused Purinton of shooting the two men because of their actual and perceived race, color, religion and national origin. Not even two weeks later, an Indian born man was outside his house in Seattle when an attacker shouted, Go back to your own country before shooting him in the arm. Incidents like these are leaving many Indian immigrants worried for themselves and their families. As an Indian born immigrant myself, I feel the need to address the laborious immigration process, and some underlying struggles the immigrants face. According to Pew
