How To Reduce Shingles On A Roof
An important aspect of any home today is the roof, as this is prone to taking a lot of damage over
the years. In order to keep your roof structurally sound for as long as possible, these parts of your
roof are important to inspect.
Shingles
The shingles on your roof are extremely important to inspect. If they are damaged or cracked, they
need to be replaced promptly. Otherwise, water could seep through your shingles and then end up in
your home.
To prevent severe water damage from happening, you can remove shingles on your roof with a steel
shingle remover. Featuring steel teeth on the front, these removers let you get underneath shingles
with ease and remove them in one motion. Thanks to this tool, you don t have to worry about
injuring

Chapter 25 of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck Essay...
Chapter 25 of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
In the twenty fifth chapter of his novel The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck presents the reader
with a series of vivid images, accompanied by a series of powerful indictments. Steinbeck
effectively uses both the potent imagery and clear statements of what he perceives as fact to
convey his message. This short chapter offers a succinct portrayal of one of the major themes of the
larger work. Namely, the potential bounty of nature corruptedand left to rot by a profit driven
system, a system that ultimately fails.
Steinbeck begins the chapter with the simple statement, The spring is beautiful in California (p.
346). The proceeding explanation of California s springtime beauty ... Show more content on

32). Spring is how Steinbeck has chosen to begin this chapter and, though it is not an everlasting
spring, this Californian spring resembles Ovid s Golden Age. Just as Ovid s ages of the world
degenerate into baser and baser metals, so Steinbeck s California degenerates from springtime of
bounty to a harvest time of fruit rotting on the ground.
Continuing to contrast Ovid and Steinbeck another difference becomes apparent. In Ovid s Golden
Age the earth is bountiful without the interference of humans. Ovid says, The earth itself, without
compulsion, untouched by the hoe ... produced all things spontaneously, and men were content
with foods that grew without cultivation (p. 32). Steinbeck s Californian Eden comes about in
vastly different manner. Steinbeck states, Behind the fruitfulness are men of understanding and
knowledge and skill (p. 346). These men manipulate the earth, experimenting with seeds and roots,
seeking to make plants resilient to all manners of pest and blight. Others, men of chemistry, devise
chemical sprays to kills insects, and cut out disease and rots, mildews and sicknesses (p. 346).
There are still others. Doctors of preventative medicine, surgeons, and border guards, all of whom
are attempting to increase the yield and bounty of the earth. No,

Violence In The Workplace Essay

Introduction
When we think of violence, we often reflect on an image the news has portrayed. We think of gun
violence, robberies, or some other brutal attack that has left one dead or seriously injured. It is
common to assume that this is often occurs in low income, poverty stricken areas. A description is
provided of substance abusers, broken families, racism, and a host of other reasons why violence
occurs. Sometimes, in the majority of cases, this description is correct.
At any time, workplace violence can occur. It can injure one person or various people,
emotionally, physically, and mental. Workplace violence occurs anytime that violence is
threatened against someone at work or there is a present threat of violence. It is often committed
against supervisors, managers, and fellow employees by former or current employees. Workplace
violence happens more often than it should. Such as was the case when the apartment manager
was stabbed in Everett in July 2010. In the United States, there has been 20,000 assaults and 792
homicides that has occurred at workplaces, according to the U.S. Department of Labor s
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). One of the very first publicized episode
of workplace violence occurred in August of 1986. Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled post office
employee who was on the verge of being let go, committed suicide after shooting 14

Rejection Challenge Paper
Rejection Challenge Paper The challenge my partner and I chose to perform was to ask someone
to tie our shoes. Before undergoing the challenge I did have a few fears about what would happen
when I went through with the challenge. My main fear was the person I asked would say no and
completely reject me. Another one of my fears was that the entire situation would be uncomfortable
for the other person due to the unusual question I would be asking them. Lastly, I feared, if the
person were to reject me the next time I saw them they would have the wrong impression. Overall,
this challenge did seem easy to accomplish at first, but what caused my fears was thinking about the
potential rejection that could happen. Similarly, the thing that caused... Show more content on

The only thing there is to fear is a person saying no to what you are asking. However, to ever be
accepted or get a yes you have to risk being rejected or nothing will ever happen. For example, if
you see someone you like while you are walking if you never put yourself out there and talk them
nothing will ever happen. Therefore, this challenge has helped me realize that rejection is not
something to fear but it is a necessity to move forward or open different opportunities throughout
life. Consequently, after this exercise I am more inclined to taking risks even if there are
consequences because risks are what allow us to improve, make the most out of life, and pursue
what we want to do. All in all, prior to this challenge I honestly did fear being rejected and
creating situations of uncertainty, but after completing this challenge I realized the importance of
rejection and how it helps us in our lives. If you need help, you have to ask for it. If you want a
job, you have to apply for it. Therefore, I learned that without putting yourself in a spot of potential
rejection you close the door for many opportunities in

How The Other Side Lives By Jacob Riis
First of all, Jacob Riis is the author of How the Other Side lives . He was famous for using
photography to document the extremely poor conditions of many poor populations in the early
20th century. Riis was a Danish immigrant, he worked as a police reporter for The New York
Tribune, a job that gave him a close and personal relationship with Mulberry Bend, a vestige of
Five Points, the most infamous slum in the city. This book reveals the dirt, disease and misery
associated with the living in the New York slums. Throughout the book Riis expresses his cruel
feeling toward the Italians, Jews and the Chinese, while he remains astonishingly less critical of
blacks and women. This book relates to the horrible living conditions and people in

Anti-Semitism In Nazi
In what ways did Hitler and the Nazi Party adopt and adapt various elements of traditional and
modern forms of anti Semitism?
The Nazi party rise to power during the 1930 s was radically influenced and inspired by anti
Semitic philosophy, in a number of forms, that being, drawing on their historical origins of
traditional anti Semitism that is religious bias, to evolving to modern forms which ultimately for
Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party was illustrated through discrimination and racial prejudice. The anti
Semitic beliefs also had a significant impact on economic and political circumstance in Germany
following World War 1. At that time, Germany was not known for its stability as a country, a trend
that had been reoccurring in German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He further goes on to explain that Nazi anti Semitism had a black and white approach to the anti
Semite ideology, and that there were two main discourses present within the ideology, of pseudo
biological and pseudo Christian themes. Essentially parlayed into society as the rescindment of
Jewish liberation during the Enlightenement by the Nazi Party reigniting fear and debate of the
Jewish Question. This dehumanization of the Jews through the analysis of their blood worth and
their threat to sacred Aryan blood, particularly following the defeat of World War that Germans
had to purge their blood of racial weakness and foreign admixtures, and to increase its biological
substance .
Burrin expresses that Nazi anti Semitism became the phenomena that it was because of the Nazi
ability to account Jews fault for previous historical event. Making the anti Semite belief that the
solution to these historical failings could be prevented with the preservation of the Aryan race and
the eradication of the demonic

The Scientific Method Of Science Essay
The Scientific Method
Introduction
The Scientific Method is defined as a method of procedure that has characterized natural science
since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the
formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. The scientific method is used throughout the
world which makes it a uniform way to systematically conduct experiments. The guidelines in this
method are used so that anyone can repeat the experiment as accurate as possible every time the
experiment is done. All measurements in the scientific world are made in metric measurements so
there is a uniform system of measurement. The Scientific Method has steps that are taken to get
faster, more accurate results. The first step is to make observations over the subject you are
testing. This includes studying previous data over the topic under investigation, and making your
own observations. Step number two is to form a testable hypothesis. Also, by forming a
hypothesis the scientist can plan out how the experiment will be conducted. If the scientist has a
well prepared hypothesis they should be able to make a prediction of what the results of the
experiment will be. After the hypothesis has been formed it is time for the experiment. With the
experiment the hypothesis will be tested, data will be obtained, and the results will be concluded.
The data will also be used to reject, support, or to modify the hypothesis. Step number four is to

6.Technical Findings 6.1 Results of 10 year data Table 6.1.1 displays the matlab output of beta,
standard error, t statistic and p value for the two independent variables during 10 year period. It is
found that beta of X1 is 0.2750 which indicates there is a positive relationship between the utilities
excess return and the healthcare excess return. This positive relationship is statistically significant
as the p value is close to 0 which is much less than the significance level of 5%. In addition, the
standard error of X1 is 0.0300 which represents the average distance that the observed values fall
from the regression line. This indicates that the model fits the data. In contrast, it is found that the
material excess return is negatively... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And the outputs of both dataset are consisted with the results applying the robust function. Betas
stay the same and only the standard errors in both cases decline slightly. Similarly, the graphs in
both cases remain the same. Based on the non robust test, we then can confirm that the variables
are independent and uncorrelated, which satisfies the easing assumption to state the model is
consistent. 7.Criticism Referring to Figure 6.2.3 and 6.3.3, it was proven that our model has
problems that the sample data used does not represent the whole population. Therefore, this is
one of the flaws in our research. A more constructive suggestion to eliminate this problem would
be to extend the research with a larger sample size with longer time horizon. And if the sample
size is large enough, the time series issue can be neglected. Another issue might arise by the
determination of explanatory variables. As we follow the facesheet from Morningstar (2011) to
choose our explanatory variables as a symbol of the defensive sectors and cyclical sectors, it is
possible that the category of sectors is incorrect. Without the support of academic journals, the
facesheet might be purely based on analysts opinions instead of facts. By estimating wrong
explanatory variables, the findings will become

History Of Orvillecopter s Animal Cruelty
Flying in the air beside you is a cat, What? A cat, How? Well this is called orvillecopter. This was
made when an artist had a cat named Orville, sadly he died by getting smacked by a car. The
artist had an idea of making a copper out of him. Now from that day forward he has made all
different types of coppers using animals. For me there is one question, is making animals into
copters really just animal cruelty.
Orvillecopter was not always a copter he was an ordinary cat doing ordinary ordianary things like
running away from dogs, trying to get fish from the fish bowl, catching rats or a mouse, you get
the idea. Orville loved to do what cats do. Orville would have liked a peaceful death but he has to

Compare And Contrast Squid And Octopus
Kiera L. Bethel
Mr. Taulbee

Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am
comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting
how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat
and how they do things.
The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of
them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get
a new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and
four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its
mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The
giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as
sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean
creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter
predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. The water depth in
which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters to about about 330 feet deep. The ... Show

What Does It Means To Be Cool
Cool Man! How do you define cool? What does it mean to be cool? I m talking about being, In

started saying it to each other. I started using it when no one I knew was around me to hear me

were cool. I found out that I might have not been cool when others started laughing at me for
interjecting Cool man! during conversations. I still wanted to be cool, so I looked for other
things that were cool to be involved in. In the movie The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, I
watched Clint Eastwood with that little cigar in his mouth. I was in complete awe, Now that s
cool I thought. The next day I got myself some of those little stogies, popped one into my mouth

leader because he wasn t able to follow through with what he said, he treated his citizens with

The History of Levi Strauss Co.
Idly standing on a busy street corner, one cannot help but observe a plethora of denim whiz by.
Entrepreneur Levi Strauss is the man responsible for creating the booming market and generating a
trend in clothing that has swept the nation for nearly 150 years. Through a steady commitment of
quality and reliable service, Levi Strauss Company became one of the most successful business

As the years went on, Levi Гўs continued to enlarge itself to become a common household name.
Critical junctions of the Levi Strauss Corporation included additions to the company, shifts in
power, new products, markets and ideas. Some made progress, while others caused digression. One
example is of tailor Jacob Davis, who proved to be a defining point in Levi Гўs success. In 1873,
Strauss accepted Davis idea of adding metal rivets to the pockets of his pants, thus making them
stronger. His riveted pants were a smashing success, (Gromer 94). This addition, as tiny as it
was, greatly impacted the company. Within a year, 20,000 pairs of these jeans were made
(Goldish 34). Until his death in 1902, Levi Strauss continued to improve the quality and
appearance of his products. Trademark additions still present today include two orange arcs
sewn into the back pockets and a leather patch of, two horses trying to pull apart a pair of Levi s
jeans. The company wanted to show just how tough it s fabric really was, (Goldish 35) .
Following the originator s passing, power resided in many different hands. Levi Strauss family
took over the reigns of his company in the beginning of the 20th century, and maintained
presidency until 1928. Succeeding Levi s nephew Sigmund Stern as President, was Walter Haas Sr.

Mankind had believed themselves to have escaped the horrors that preyed on them in bygone ages.
Perhaps they were right. Mostly. The torch of scientific progress kindles by newton and his

The Importance Of A Transformational Leader As One Essay
Coleman (2005) describes a transformational leader as one who is a role model, building capacity
in others who follow. A leader with high standards of ethical and moral conduct.
These ideas have guided my leadership. Working with teachers I provide examples and feedback
for others to build on. As a principal, responsible for change, action research is an important
component of transforming our school and community culture. Thus, action research plays a strong
influence in the search for democracy and cross cultural leadership in my work environment.
Context/ Background.
Unearthing my own Maori and Pakeha identity has led me on a journey of discovery and interest in
early New Zealand social anthropology and ethnography. The literature of Elsdon

Zealand. Indeed, much of what I learned in high school about the history of New
Zealand came from their ethnographic research.

The Political Science Of Voters And Their Knowledge
There is still a debate within the political science community about voters and their knowledge.
Manand argues that voters are not dumb but rather, they are just not smart when it comes to
politics. Ambramowitz believes that low voter turnout is okay because the people who are
voting are the ones who actually understand and know politics. Key believes that independent
voters not knowing or understanding politics is okay because voters as a whole group will
inevitable pick the correct candidate. Caplan disagrees. The median voter wants protection.
Protection makes the median voter worse off. But the median voter does not want to be worse
off (Caplan 142). Caplan believes that voters do not simply not know or understand things but
rather they intentionally pick the wrong or incorrect answer. Caplan believes this is because in
the political arena, unlike the rest of American society, there is no real repercussions for choosing
wrong. A possible example of this is Americans choosing to believe that a terrorist attack is more
fearful, and probable, than a mass shooting. According to a survey taken by Gallup conducted
between December 11th and 12th of this past year, 47% of Americans were worried about an
attack orchestrated by the Islamic State, compared to only 38% of Americans who were worried
about a mass shooting. The 9% difference between these two possible events contrasts with the

The Philosophy Of Azure College A Nursing Institution
Concept Usage in a Professional Practice Model
Nursing career is one of the most respectful professions not only in the United States but also
around the world. The remarkable aspect that makes nursing in such position is the evolution of the
nursing theorists, the nursing theories, and the nursing philosophy. Among of these three, the
nursing philosophy is the one that really identifies the nursing mission, and the fundamental
evidence based practice of nursing. In this case, many health organizations include nursing schools

The Role Of Historical Inaccuracies In The Mummy
Several well known historical films such as The Mummy, Disney s Pocahontas, Gladiator, Marie
Antoinette and Shakespeare in Love are often portrayed based on stereotypes where historical
people and events are altered for the sole purpose of entertainment. Take for example the film, The
Mummy (1999), which was set in ancient Egypt. The mysterious and yet thrilling element of
mummies associated with the belief of curses, along with the Egyptian culture, beliefs and
architecture enthrall people to this specific genre. Although The Mummy (1999) teems with
suspense and anticipation, it is embellished with false facts and distorts the ancient Egyptian culture
to captivate the viewers. Not only did the film manipulate several ancient Egyptian facts... Show

In contrast to the mummification process that the female lead actress described in the film
where the heart is taken out. Ancient Egyptians believed that the heart was the center of reason
and emotion (Ryan, n.d.). The heart said to be the core and soul of the deceased would be
essential in the afterlife as the god of embalming and the afterlife, Anubis, would weigh one s
heart on a scale with a feather and only if the heart was as light as the feather or lighter, would the
soul be allowed to enter the afterlife. It was believed that by mummifying the body, the soul of the
deceased would be able to stay immortal. However, Imhotep, who shared an adulterous affair with
Seti I s wife, Anck Sun Amun, and later killed the pharaoh, would not have been mummified alive
like portrayed in the film as mummification in ancient Egypt was a privilege reserved for royalty
and the rich. According to the law during New Kingdom Egypt, Imhotep would have been executed
for his crimes, and if the Great Kenbet, the ancient Egyptian judicial system deemed fit, Imhotep s
punishments could also extend to the family. Also, Anck Sun Amun who committed suicide in
order to allow Imhotep time to escape, would not have been mummified due to her adulterous

Christian Beliefs In Dorothy Sayers s The Mind Of The Maker
Dorothy Sayers was one of the most renown female British Christian writers of the twentieth
century. Her best works were in the field of crime and mysterious fiction, however the The Mind
of the Maker, a Christian theological novel that challenged the ideas of Christian beliefs, quickly
grabbed the attention of many in England. Published in the year of 1941, a time period of chaos
and distraught throughout Europe due to warfare that continued to dominate world affairs. Sayers
laid the foundation of great contemporaries in the Church of England were T. S. Eliot, C.S. Lewis
and Charles Williams were acquainted. She portrays the doctrine of the Trinityby relating it to the
process of writing fiction, a concept that she could speak on with tremendous knowledge.
The Mind of the Maker sets forth an analogical study of the Christian doctrine of the Trinity,
comparing the various aspects of the Godhead to the human person. Sayers demonstrates this by
shedding a new perspective on a set of statements made in the Christian creeds. The word Creed is
derived from the Latin word credo, translating to the meaning of I believe . Moreover, The Creeds
are a summary of beliefs in Christianity. In the early years after the death of Christ, churches
encountered the problem of opposing views over matters of whether he was truly God, or if he had
both a human or divine nature. This notion was established not because the early Fathers were
eager to finalize the language of what they believed

Hegemonic Masculinity Analysis
Reserving the cultural power and importance of gaming for the male audience effectively forms a
gender hierarchy, which is the definition of hegemonic masculinity (Connell, 2005). This concept is
a theoretical perspective combining Gramsci s analysis of class relations with gender studies to
illustrate how gendercan shape society. Connell defines hegemonic masculinityas a gender practice
which embodies the currently accepted answer to the problem of the legitimacy of patriarchy,
which guarantees (or is taken to guarantee) the dominant position of men and the subordination of
women (Connell, 2005, p. 77). Therefore, in the context of the videogames industry and the gaming
press, because men have always been, and continue to be perceived as, the dominant audience, they
and not women, will remain the principal group courted by these institutions, which effectively

A Brief Note On The World Health Organization
The Definition Of Disability
The World Health Organization s (2011) report defined disability as being complex, dynamic and a
multidimensional highly debated problem that is part of the human condition. With aging, a
disability may become a part of elderly individual s daily lives. The WHO (2011) report described
impairments as an issue in body structure or function, limitation in activities as being restricted
from getting involved in life situations due to the disability. About 15% of the world s population
will face disability at some point of their lives. The report highlighted barriers faced by individuals

In India, the vast majority of individuals with disabilities are unemployed and have less access to
education than individuals without disabilities (Mishra and Gupta, 2006). Individuals with
disabilities encounter difficulties that require interventions to overcome as well as to remove social
and environmental barriers (World Health Organization, 2011). In addition, individuals with
disabilities are susceptible to secondary conditions such as depression, pain, injury, overweight and
obesity among other health problems (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016).
Moreover, the combination of disability and environmental factors contributes to create major
barriers in accessing rehabilitation services. Almost everyone who gets through old age experiences
some level of increased difficulties in functioning at some point in their life; therefore, disability is a
human rights issue in which appropriate accessibility would most certainly benefit us all

disability rights activists in Europe, Asia, Southern Africa, North, Central and South America

existence of a disability movement as always being present in history; however, with a different
focus. Campbell and Oliver (1996) analysed social theory,

Supernova In The Milky Way
Have you ever seen a supernova in person, if not not it was probably because Supernovas are
difficult to see in our own Milky Way galaxy because of dust blocking our view. Supernovas are
33 light years away. A website called eartsky.org stated there might be one dangerous supernova
event in Earth s vicinity every 15 million years . Another says, that, on average, a supernova
explosion occurs within 10 parsecs (33 light years) of the Earth every 240 million years.
Only three Milky Way naked eye supernova events have been observed during the last thousand
years, though many have been telescopically seen in other galaxies. The most recent directly
observed supernova in the Milky Way was Kepler s Star of 1604 (SN 1604), but remnants of two
more recent supernovae have been found retrospectively. Statistical observations of supernovae in
other galaxies suggest they should occur on average about three times every century in the Milky

Electra Essay
The House of Mannon Eugene O Neill s Mourning Becomes Electra is a play of revenge, sacrifice,
and murder conveyed through visible references to Aeschylus House of Atreus. O Neill alludes to
The House of Atreus in order to ground the play; attaching the plot to well known aspects of history.
As well, it brings a certain significance that otherwise would be neglected if their underlying
manifestations went unnoticed. The most prominent of these allusions is that to Aeschylus House
of Atreus. O Neill specifically modeled Mourning around Aeschylus work, modernizing it, applying
it to a new generation of readers. Agamemnon, a general in the Trojan War, becomes Ezra Mannon,
a Civil War soldier of the same rank.

This parallels Clytemnestra s killing of Agamemnon in order to further explore her love interest,
Aegisthus, as well as Orestes homecoming. Orestes later takes his own life, escaping certain agony
and torment. Prior to Orestes suicide, however, he conspires with his sister, Electra, in attempt to
prevent their mother from becoming romantically involved with Aegisthus. Ultimately, the only
ample resolution to prevent such an event from transpiring is the murder of Aegisthus, which is
executed by Electra and Orestes. This series of events directly parallels the actions of Lavinia and
Orin in response to their mother s display of love for Captain Adam Brant. Christine, in a moment
of loss and severe depression, commits suicide with a revolver; her son follow suit, leaving Lavinia
alone in the Mannon estate.
With Lavinia left to endure a lifetime of guilt stricken sorrow, the Mannon dead plague her
continuously, much like when Orin was still alive. The Mannon dead serve the same purpose as
Aeschylus furies in that they haunt Lavinia and Orin, eventually leading to Orin s suicide and
Lavinia s assumption of responsibility. There were no ghosts, spirits, or specters present, merely
portraits that kept a vigil on the house and the Mannon name. O Neill alludes to the House of
Atreus with the intention of expressing the revenge, the hatred, the murderous contempt that
threads itself throughout the play.

How Self Esteem Leads to Success
The strongest factor for success is self esteem: Believing you can do it, believing you deserve it,

Success is being comfortable with who you are.
According to Meaghan Ramsey in her TED talk Why thinking you re ugly is bad for you she
states that About six out of ten girls are now choosing not to (do the activities that they like)

are good at because of their appearance, they might think their whole life they are not good
enough for any of their favorite activities, or even what they always dreamed being in the future
when they were younger. She next claims that Thirty one percent, nearly one in three teenagers
are withdrawing from classroom debate. They re failing to engage in classroom debate because
they don t want to draw attention to the way they look. Teens are now being afraid of participating
in class because of what they think that other people judge them. Students shouldn t be failing a
class because of how they look, or what other people think about them. Students should be proud to

The Structures And Functions Of Different Lipocalins
This paper mainly deals with a small family of proteins Lipocalins . The structures and functions of
different lipocalins have been widely discussed. The structural similarity, physiological functions,
synthesis, their number of amino acid residues, secondary structures of each lipocalin has been
widely analyzed throughout this paper.
Lipocalins are a family of proteins which contribute various physiological role in small molecules.
Lipocalins are found to take part in binding, storage or sequestration of many low molecular weight
compounds which shows poor solubility and easy decomposition, thereby stabilizing them and
playing an important role. In humans lipocalins are present as secretory proteins in blood, genital
secretions and tears.
About Lipocalins: Lipocalins are small monomeric proteins with 150 180 residues, having compact
fold with central eight ОІ strands. There are four loops which connect the ОІ strands and forms a
cup shaped cavity. Different lipocalins can accommodate different chemical ligands (lipids,
steroids, vitamins, cofactors etc.) of various shapes and sizes, depending on the length of the amino
acid sequence of the loops. The name Lipocalins were given to a group of proteins comprising of
the human О±1 acid glycoprotein, О±1 microglobulin, serum/plasma retinol binding protein, and
bovine ОІ lactoglobulin on the basis of sequence homologies, disulfide bonds, functional
similarities and their ability to bind with +complex lipophilic substances in

Reflection About Silence
Throughout my life, I have read so many books with hundreds of storylines and plot twists that
have either stayed with me or faded away as time passed. However, some books leave a lasting
impression, their images playing on repeat, their wisdom influencing my own life. One of these
was, Silence, by Natasha Preston. It is the first in a two bookseries that I will always remember.
The main character s experiences and the way in which she handled them lingered in my mind
and impacted my own experiences as well. As the longest serving Harvard University president
and American academic, Charles William Eliot, said, Books are the quietest and most constant of
friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.
Eliot s quote is the perfect description of what Silence is to me: a friend, a counselor, a teacher.
I discovered this tragic book when I was in seventh grade, skimming the list of free iBooks during
the required reading time. Within the 323 pages is a story about a young girl that easily made my
heart clench and fill with warmth. The protagonist, 15 year old Oakley, has sentenced herself to a
lifetime of silence and nobody knows the reason. No more than a shoulder shrug, nod, or shake of
her head aids Oakley in communicating with everyone she knows and loves. Eventually, the reader

Malala Yousafzai had her education taken away when the Taliban invaded her village in
Northern Pakistan. This changed her life, and education became her passion, as she did
whatever she could to try and get it back. Malala made speeches and was called for interviews
because of her passion for fighting for education for all children. Later, she was targeted and shot
by the Taliban specifically for advocating for girls education. Malala is inspired by her mother,
father, and her country s history. Malala values and fights for human rightsto education because her
personal access to education was compromised, and because she believes that education is the
basis of freedom, giving people choices in their own lives. The experiences of her mother, Toor

Some women don t start their prenatal care until the second trimester, so they might be offered
second trimester screening tests for their prenatal genetic screening. Second trimester screening is
normally done at week 15th 22nd of the pregnancy. The tests can correctly detect about 81 % of
fetuses with Down syndrome, about 80 % of fetuses with trisomy 18 and about 80 % of fetuses
with neural tube defects. When results from both first, if available, and second screening combine
together, about 87 % of fetuses with Down syndrome, 90 % with trisomy 18 and 80 % with neural
tube defects can be identified (Intermountain healthcare, 2014).
Thirdly, the prenatal diagnostic tests including amniocentesis and CVS are highly accurate ways
to check for genetic disorders (Intermountain healthcare, 2014). Both tests can confirm with 99 %

I think the American Dream is everybody s dream. When Ralph Lauren, the corporation, chose this
quote from their respective patriarch as the basis for an advertisement in October 2017 s issue of

While this advertisement uses many traditional American stereotypes, portraying a sense of
optimism and nostalgia centered around civic nationalism, it makes a mistake in itsit s overly broad

The Jeep is known as the vehicle that won World War II. The family represents the idea that
America is a place where one s children can grow up to maximize their full potential. These items
are all tied together by their identity within an American context. Of these classic American
stereotypes, the cowboy hat atop Lauren s head carries with it as much nostalgia as nearly any

represents American concepts such as the west, wide open spaces, and manifest destiny. A
secondary interpretation, which actually makes more sense in the context of the ad, being that the

On an even deeper analysis, one may notice that the pose of Lauren in this photograph bears a

Analysis Of Paul s The Letter Of Romans Essay
Romans Project
Chapter 1
Summary:
Paul begins the letter of Romans by introducing himself and stating his mission. Concisely stating
the gospel message, Paul encourages the Roman Christians to bring about the obedience of faith
for the sake of his name (1:5), or for the glory of Jesus Christ. He goes on to write of his desires
and intentions to visit Rome in order to preach the gospel of Christ to the Jews as well as the
Gentiles. Paul continues by explaining his excitement for the gospel as well as the need to live the
gospel out in our lives. Finishing the first chapter, Paul presents the inexcusable idolatry, sinfulness,
and evilness of the ungodly.
Key Verses:
1:16 17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone
who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed
from faith for faith, as it is written, The righteous shall live by faith.
Question:
In 1:15, why is Paul eager to preach the gospel to a church that has presumably already received
the gospel?
Answer:
In Romans 1:15, the you could possibly refer to Rome and all of its citizens. While this is a
possibility, Douglas Moo notes that the you in verse 15 more likely refers to the members of the
Roman church. In this case, Paul is referring to the gospel as the ongoing work of teaching and
discipleship that builds on initial evangelism (Moo, p. 63). Therefore, not only is Paul eager to
spread the gospel

In order to do so, I had to ask myself some important questions like: Is the telescreen in the book

These people, for whom the government really does not care, are seen as a burden.
The overall conclusion to this statement is that the classes are divided with different opportunities
and even though not as much as the government officials in the book, the upper classes still have
more freedom to excel and do as they please.
The second similarity is that both governments believe that ?War is Peace.? We saw in the book
that the government of Oceania believed that the only way to have peace was through war and
strength. They would at one time be peaceful with one of the two other two countries in the
world, Eurasia or Eastasia, while waging war against the other. The government would also use
excuses on why they were waging war. The same is here in The United States. We went to Iraq
for reasons that some feel were not justified while others feel differently. The main argument of
the opposition was that we went to war with Iraq on the basis that they had weapons of mass
destruction and so forth but non were found. The question that I want to ask is: Were we lied to as
the people in Oceania were?
The third similarity is that both governments have their hands and control in every aspect of
society?s life. Also the government spies on their citizens. In the book we saw Oceania had
absolute control over people?s life. Even though the control that the United State government has
over people?s lives these days is not as great as the one in the book, they still interfere

317) Different types of faces include expert, a manager, a project member, a company employee,
a friend, etc (Lahlou, 2008, p.314) He defines being in private when one does not have to wear a
specific face. The transition from face to face could be analogous to the transition between front
stage and backstage. When a person is alone, they are a combination of all of their faces; they do
not have to put any particular face because there is no expected role when they are alone.
In somewhat of a contrast to the traditional view of privacy, Lahlou claims that privacy issues
emerged from role conflicts between activities. (Lahlou, 2008, p.

BINGO Board Game Analysis
The objective of the first interactive learning activity is to promote a deeper understanding of
the core tenets of the Constitution. This can be accomplished by playing a BINGO board game.
The prepared BINGO cards will contain a total of twenty five squares with five rows going
across and five rows going down. Three BINGO cards will be distributed to parents containing
the key tenets written on the inside of each of the squares. Some of the tenets will be duplicated
inside the squares while other squares will contain a blank space. The parents will also receive a
small packet of colored chips to use as a marker for the squares.
A list of questions regarding each of the core tenets will begin the BINGO game. The speaker will
read one question relating to the core tenets. Parents will raise his or her hand to answer the
question. The presenter will continue to call on parents until a correct response has been given.
The parents will place a colored chip on the square if the correct answer is written inside the
square. There will be more questions asked than the number of squares on the BINGO cards. The
winner of the game must have colored chips in all squares going across, ... Show more content on

These parents regard playing a musical instrument as a highly difficult and demanding task. This
implies that those students who aim to get good grades with music are likely to receive very poor
grades in other conventional subjects. therefore, should not have compulsory status in public
schools which are funded by taxpayers resources. Further, it is argued that the standard curriculum
teaches abstract reasoning, mathematics, sciences and medicine which has great value, even if the
skills acquired are not, thereafter, directly usable in everyday life. The study of arts and music
gives no practical application. The objective of public education funds must be of helping students
to develop valuable skills for their practical lives. It is believed that the study of mathematics,
language, science, etc. provides both useable knowledge and abstract skills.
The paper discussed why public funds should not support arts and music education and evaluated
the assertion that education for arts and music is a less useful allocation of educational resources
than traditional subjects. It is concluded that the cost for provision of arts and music education in
public school system is very high. Further, it is discussed that eliminating music education from the
curriculum of public schools would enable

Competitive Strategy for Low Cost Airlines
Hongwei Jiang
RMIT University, Australia
Abstract The aim of this paper is to identify challenge faced to Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) or Low
Cost Airlines and provide new insights into the development and competitive strategy for LCCs.
LCCs are still a relatively new phenomenon in Australia since Virgin Blue and Jetstar came to the
market. There are over 30 LCCs have been launched since 2002 worldwide. In fact, LCCs have
been very successful in the USA and Europe since 1990s. For example, in 1994 less than 3 million
passengers flew on LCCs. In 1999, five years later, this figure had risen to about 17.5 ... Show more

Today, Southwest Airlinesoperates more than 3,100 daily flights to 62 cities across the United
States, and registers yearly more than 80 million passengers. What began as a small Texas airline,
Southwest now has grown to become one of the largest airlines in the United States1. European
history of low cost airlines is much younger, but those airlines are for sure trendsetters of the
1990s. The expansion of LCCs in Europe coincided with the final deregulation of the market
during the 1990s. Genuine lowcost operations began in Great Britain in the 1990s with the Irish
company Ryanair (founded in 1985 and started operating flights in 1986), which was patterned on
American Southwest Airlines. Following Great Britain, LCCs have successfully developed on the
Continent (Grotte, 2005). In the year 2005, there are 60 low cost airlines operating in Europe2.
Prior to 2002, there were no significant low cost scheduled carriers operating in the Asia Pacific
rim. The initial slow development was in part due to the perception that the low cost model adopted
in the United States and Europe could not be replicated in Asia, because of the longer aircraft stage
lengths, lack of secondary airports and regulatory restrictions preventing access to international
markets. The latter being particularly relevant given

King Alfred the Great Essay
King Alfred the Great
King Alfred the Great was born at Wantage, in 849, on a royal manor of his father s holding, a
family estate which long afterward he himself would leave in legacy to his wife. Alfred was the
youngest of five children, four sons and a daughter, born to Ethelwulf by his wife Osburh. When
Alfred was four years old, his father, the king, who by now had long despaired of getting to
Rome in the present state of things, decided to send Alfred there, to at least receive the blessing
of the Holy Father. The pope at the time, Leo the IV, gave Alfred the blessing to become king.
Alfred s time came in the year mid April 871, when King Г†thelred died. Only a king of full age
could defend the land, and although Г†thelred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Alfred was not content with being on the defensive. He also attacked the Danish held
City of London in an attempt to diminish the lands ruled under Dane law (Bruce 4). No Anglo
Saxon king was ever strong enough to coerce a recalcitrant peasantry. Except Alfred who
decided to allow half the men liable for service to remain at home while the other half was out
against the Danes (Stenton 261). In order for Alfred to keep peace and defeat the Danes, he had to
win many major battles. On Easter Sunday 878, when King Alfred withdrew into the Isle of
Athelney, there was every likelihood that before the end of the year Wessexwould have been
divided out among the members of the Danish army. King Alfred made sure that Wessex would
escape that fate. Although Alfred did lose a major battle against the Danes only four years ago,
he overcame them in 878 when he won the Battle of Edington. Alfred showed strong resistance
by constantly engaging Danish raiding parties from his base in Athelney. After nearly seven
weeks of strong battles, Alfred was able to begin defeating the Danes (Stenton 253). Along with
Alfred s idea of coercing a recalcitrant peasantry, he had other ways of defeating the Danes as
well. Alfred began building warships in order to develop a navy. The ships in which Alfred built
were twice as long as those which they were intended to meet (Stenton 253). These

Essay On Satyam Scandal
RECOMMENDATION
The 2009 Satyam scandal in India has highlighted the shameful potential of an improperly
governed corporate leader. Some recommendations can be made from the mistakes learnt from the
scandal to further avoid such mishaps. First, all inaccuracies are to be investigated as a lot of fraud
schemes initially start out small, with the thought that small changes here and there would not
make a big difference, and is less likely to be detected. The fraud scheme at Satyam started very
small that eventually grew into $276 million. Second, Corporate Governance needs to be Stronger
as a Fraud of such a kind does not only look bad on a company; it also ruins the reputation of the
whole industry and the country. India has been adopting Corporate ... Show more content on

The culture at Satyam, especially dominated by the board, represented an unethical culture.
Satyam was brought to its knee due to tunneling effect unlike Enron, which sank due to agency
problem. All kind of frauds have proven that there is a need for good conduct based on strong
ethics. The debacle of Satyam raised a debate about the role of CEO in driving an organization to
the heights of success and its relationship with the board members and ore committees. The fraud at
Satyam brought to the light the role of CG in influencing the protocols related to the working of
audit committee and duties of board members (Niazi, and Ali, 2015). The government of India took
very quick actions to protect the interest of the investors of Satyam, the nation s image across the
world and, safeguard the credibility of India. Moreover, Satyam fraud has forced the government to
re‐write the CG rules and tightened the norms for auditors and accountants (Bhasin, 2013b). The
Indian affiliate of PwC ―routinely failed to follow the most basic audit procedures. The SEC
and the PCAOB fined the affiliate, PwC India, $7.5 million in what was described as the largest
American penalty ever against a foreign accounting firm (Norris, 2011). According to Mr. Chopra,
President (ICAI), ―The Satyam fraud was not an auditing or accounting failure, but one of CG.
This apex body had found the two PwC auditors prima facie guilty of professional misconduct. The
CBI, which investigated the Satyam fraud case, also charged the two auditors with complicity in
the commission of the fraud by consciously overlooking the accounting irregularities. The Satyam
fraud, finally, had to end and the implications were having far reaching consequences. With all the

Slavery In Venezuela
Venezuela s economic development began long ago when Christopher Columbus discovered it
on one of his voyages to the new world. The development started with the colonial experience led
by the Spanish. In the 1500s word had spread that there were pearls and rare precious metals to be
found in Venezuela. With the newly found pearls, the Spanish colonizers started developing
extractive policies to harvest these pearls and metals to the point where new ways and resources
had to be found. In the 1520 s, instead of extracting resources and treasures from Venezuela, the
Spanish began extracting their native people, taking the people for slavery. The slaves that were
extracted from Venezuela were used to supply the growing need for labor in the Caribbean... Show

Formerly under control from Dictator Hugo Chavez, and now currently under control by
Nicolas Maduro, With an estimated 34.2% of the GDP accounting for the public debt, and an
extremely high inflation rate of 56.2% in 2013 raising from 21.1% in 2012, it is obvious that
the policies and programs aren t working out for the country. Poor leadership in Venezuela has
driven the country s economy into a downward spiral. Having one of the larger resource
endowments among the developing countries, it is questionable how there are so many
problems with its economy. Since the 1920s Venezuela s economy has been primarily driven by
their vast availability of petroleum. Being a member of the OPEC, Venezuela s main export is
oil. The powerful oil industry in Venezuela is driven by their state run petroleum company
Petroleos de Venezuela S.A PDVSA. Venezuela sits on top of the world s largest oil reserves and
this oil based economy accounts for roughly 50 percent of government revenue, 95 percent of
Venezuela s exports, and 25 percent of Venezuela s GDP, just in oil alone. With a population of
29.9 million people (estimated in 2012) the country has a per capita GDP of $12,756. Venezuela
is highly dependent on oil revenues, these oil revenues account for around 96% of all export
earnings. Venezuela s development faces various challenges being a

Baby Boomers Analysis
As a Millennial, I ve found that trying to achieve the same sort of success as previous
generations is completely impossible. Our country has changed so much, and we ve come to
realize we re not as invulnerable as we thought. Baby Boomers had a dream instilled into them by
their parents that prosperity and the American Dream are accessible to anyone determined to
reach it. And they got all they wanted, plus more. So my generation was asked to reach for the
stars because we could get more than the American Dream. We could get our dreams. But after the
real estate market crash, a line was drawn between this generation and the last because we had to
learn a new way to achieve our dreams. After recovering from the Great Depressionand swearing...

We, more than any other age, want stability. No one wants to see that in us because it s a tough
fight to get it, but we want to self manage and have financial certainty. Houses mean something
entirely different to us than to others. We don t see houses as necessities or obligations. We don t
take mortgages lightly or settle into some place we re not happy with. The real estate market has
some new customers who are taking their choices seriously. To us, that house has to be earned, and
it s also an investment. We don t feel an obligation to settle into that house; we want it because of
what it offers us. That house can grant both stability and financial security. Making an investment
like that is something that overjoys a generation still shaken from the uncertainty of the market
crash. When we make investments, we become adults. There is nothing scarier or more
exhilarating than stepping away from an age where we can t control the world around us into
being at the wheel. The housing market may not have the same customers as it once did, but these
customers are ones who aren t taking any decisions lightly. Stepping from dorm to apartment to
renting and, finally, to owning a home is a terrifying journey. Nobody should take it lightly, but we
should take it. We re ready to take on mortgages and handle the economyin a new

Essay about Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
The central conflict in the novel Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte is Heathcliff.
Heathcliff s internal conflicts affect how all of the other characters interrelate. Heathcliff
throughout the book never does anything honorable or dignified. Heathcliff creates whirlwinds of
problems by just being present, sometimes, by not even doing a thing. Heathcliff s problems not
only the affect the Earnshaw s but also their neighbors Edgar Isabella Linton. Heathcliff comes to
live with the Earnshaw s, which also includes their children Catherine and Hindley. As Graham
Holderness states, The gipsy brat old Mr. Earnshaw brings home with him has neither name nor

(Berg 59) Catherine provides Heathcliff with love, support, a sense of right and wrong, and a
feeling of self esteem. Heathcliff is addicted to the emotions that Catherine provides for him, that he
is unable to provide for himself.
Catherine cannot, at first, decide whom to marry. Catherine wonders if she should marry the man
she loves or the man that can provide her with material security. Catherine tells Nelly that I ve no
more business to marry Edgar Linton than I have to be in heaven: and if the wicked man in there
had not brought Heathcliff so low, I shouldn t have thought of it. It would degrade me to marry
Heathcliff now (Bronte 120) Catherine also states that Whatever our souls are made of, his
{Heathcliff s} and mine are the same, and Linton s {Edgar} is as different as moonbeam from
lightening, or frost from fire. (Bronte 121) Catherine wants to be with Heathcliff even though she
knows all about him. But Catherine s need for psychological security and material comforts out
weighs her desire to be with Heathcliff. (Goodlett 124)
Catherine marries Edgar Linton and moves to Thrushcross Grange and is separated from
Heathcliff. Heathcliff begins to lead Hindley to destruction, and courts Isabella in order to hurt
Edgar. When he finds out that Catherine married Edgar in his absence.
During Heathcliff s marriage to Isabella

The Easy Way To Sucess
Hey, so about that tour you were giving me... are you going to continue? I said as I jogged over
to Jai, who was standing with some other circus entertainers which surprisingly looked the same
age as him compared to the ones I lived with. The girls I lived with where much older, the
youngest looked around fifteen or sixteen years old minimum. But somehow Jai wasn t so
happy to see me as for a couple of moments ago; as soon as I finished my sentence he rushes
towards me and cover my mouth but stops cause he realize it is too late, his friends started
laughing at him while pointing their fingers at us when we are only a couple of feet away. Now
I remember; I am the weird, stubborn little girl who is only trying to chase her dream. They are
idiots. If only they all would see potential I actually have. I know I can do it, we all have very
even chances of making it, and so why not do the best of the time and not fight about it? Before
my own thoughts dragged me into my imaginary world Jai complained; Ugh, did you really have
to do that? He said without making eye contact and just started walked away with big steps,
making it hard for me to hold up with him. Do what? Burst your ego, maybe? I say teasingly as I
look at his profile angle while my feet try to stride in the same rhythm like his. He actually looks
less like a jerk from that way. Good point. My inner voice talks and I nod my head to the side as I

  • 3. Chapter 25 of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck Essay... Chapter 25 of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck In the twenty fifth chapter of his novel The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck presents the reader with a series of vivid images, accompanied by a series of powerful indictments. Steinbeck effectively uses both the potent imagery and clear statements of what he perceives as fact to convey his message. This short chapter offers a succinct portrayal of one of the major themes of the larger work. Namely, the potential bounty of nature corruptedand left to rot by a profit driven system, a system that ultimately fails. Steinbeck begins the chapter with the simple statement, The spring is beautiful in California (p. 346). The proceeding explanation of California s springtime beauty ... Spring is how Steinbeck has chosen to begin this chapter and, though it is not an everlasting spring, this Californian spring resembles Ovid s Golden Age. Just as Ovid s ages of the world degenerate into baser and baser metals, so Steinbeck s California degenerates from springtime of bounty to a harvest time of fruit rotting on the ground. Continuing to contrast Ovid and Steinbeck another difference becomes apparent. In Ovid s Golden Age the earth is bountiful without the interference of humans. Ovid says, The earth itself, without compulsion, untouched by the hoe ... produced all things spontaneously, and men were content with foods that grew without cultivation (p. 32). Steinbeck s Californian Eden comes about in vastly different manner. Steinbeck states, Behind the fruitfulness are men of understanding and knowledge and skill (p. 346). These men manipulate the earth, experimenting with seeds and roots, seeking to make plants resilient to all manners of pest and blight. Others, men of chemistry, devise chemical sprays to kills insects, and cut out disease and rots, mildews and sicknesses (p. 346). There are still others. Doctors of preventative medicine, surgeons, and border guards, all of whom are attempting to increase the yield and bounty of the earth. No, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Violence In The Workplace Essay Introduction Literature Review Methodology Findings and Results Limitations Conclusion References Introduction When we think of violence, we often reflect on an image the news has portrayed. We think of gun violence, robberies, or some other brutal attack that has left one dead or seriously injured. It is common to assume that this is often occurs in low income, poverty stricken areas. A description is provided of substance abusers, broken families, racism, and a host of other reasons why violence occurs. Sometimes, in the majority of cases, this description is correct. At any time, workplace violence can occur. It can injure one person or various people, emotionally, physically, and mental. Workplace violence occurs anytime that violence is threatened against someone at work or there is a present threat of violence. It is often committed against supervisors, managers, and fellow employees by former or current employees. Workplace violence happens more often than it should. Such as was the case when the apartment manager was stabbed in Everett in July 2010. In the United States, there has been 20,000 assaults and 792 homicides that has occurred at workplaces, according to the U.S. Department of Labor s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). • 5. Rejection Challenge Paper Rejection Challenge Paper The challenge my partner and I chose to perform was to ask someone to tie our shoes. Before undergoing the challenge I did have a few fears about what would happen when I went through with the challenge. My main fear was the person I asked would say no and completely reject me. Another one of my fears was that the entire situation would be uncomfortable for the other person due to the unusual question I would be asking them. Lastly, I feared, if the person were to reject me the next time I saw them they would have the wrong impression. Overall, this challenge did seem easy to accomplish at first, but what caused my fears was thinking about the potential rejection that could happen. Similarly, the thing that caused... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only thing there is to fear is a person saying no to what you are asking. However, to ever be accepted or get a yes you have to risk being rejected or nothing will ever happen. For example, if you see someone you like while you are walking if you never put yourself out there and talk them nothing will ever happen. Therefore, this challenge has helped me realize that rejection is not something to fear but it is a necessity to move forward or open different opportunities throughout life. Consequently, after this exercise I am more inclined to taking risks even if there are consequences because risks are what allow us to improve, make the most out of life, and pursue what we want to do. All in all, prior to this challenge I honestly did fear being rejected and creating situations of uncertainty, but after completing this challenge I realized the importance of rejection and how it helps us in our lives. If you need help, you have to ask for it. If you want a job, you have to apply for it. Therefore, I learned that without putting yourself in a spot of potential rejection you close the door for many opportunities in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was famous for using photography to document the extremely poor conditions of many poor populations in the early 20th century. Riis was a Danish immigrant, he worked as a police reporter for The New York Tribune, a job that gave him a close and personal relationship with Mulberry Bend, a vestige of Five Points, the most infamous slum in the city. This book reveals the dirt, disease and misery associated with the living in the New York slums. Throughout the book Riis expresses his cruel feeling toward the Italians, Jews and the Chinese, while he remains astonishingly less critical of blacks and women. • 8. The Scientific Method Of Science Essay The Scientific Method Introduction The Scientific Method is defined as a method of procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. The scientific method is used throughout the world which makes it a uniform way to systematically conduct experiments. The guidelines in this method are used so that anyone can repeat the experiment as accurate as possible every time the experiment is done. All measurements in the scientific world are made in metric measurements so there is a uniform system of measurement. The Scientific Method has steps that are taken to get faster, more accurate results. The first step is to make observations over the subject you are testing. This includes studying previous data over the topic under investigation, and making your own observations. Step number two is to form a testable hypothesis. Also, by forming a hypothesis the scientist can plan out how the experiment will be conducted. If the scientist has a well prepared hypothesis they should be able to make a prediction of what the results of the experiment will be. After the hypothesis has been formed it is time for the experiment. With the experiment the hypothesis will be tested, data will be obtained, and the results will be concluded. The data will also be used to reject, support, or to modify the hypothesis. Step number four is to analyze ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is found that beta of X1 is 0.2750 which indicates there is a positive relationship between the utilities excess return and the healthcare excess return. This positive relationship is statistically significant as the p value is close to 0 which is much less than the significance level of 5%. And the outputs of both dataset are consisted with the results applying the robust function. Betas stay the same and only the standard errors in both cases decline slightly. Similarly, the graphs in both cases remain the same. Based on the non robust test, we then can confirm that the variables are independent and uncorrelated, which satisfies the easing assumption to state the model is consistent. 7.Criticism Referring to Figure 6.2.3 and 6.3.3, it was proven that our model has problems that the sample data used does not represent the whole population. Therefore, this is one of the flaws in our research. A more constructive suggestion to eliminate this problem would be to extend the research with a larger sample size with longer time horizon. And if the sample size is large enough, the time series issue can be neglected. Another issue might arise by the determination of explanatory variables. As we follow the facesheet from Morningstar (2011) to choose our explanatory variables as a symbol of the defensive sectors and cyclical sectors, it is possible that the category of sectors is incorrect. Without the support of academic journals, the facesheet might be purely based on analysts opinions instead of facts. By estimating wrong explanatory variables, the findings will become ... • 11. Compare And Contrast Squid And Octopus Kiera L. Bethel Mr. Taulbee English 2 20 December 2016 Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat and how they do things. The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get a new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. Growing up the word cool, was not in the language yet as far as being defined far out cool. I actually didn t start perceiving Cool until the1960s when the Hippies started saying it to each other. I started using it when no one I knew was around me to hear me say it. I thought I was cool saying it but not sure if I was qualified to use it, not being sure if I were cool. I found out that I might have not been cool when others started laughing at me for interjecting Cool man! during conversations. I still wanted to be cool, so I looked for other things that were cool to be involved in. In the movie The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, I watched Clint Eastwood with that little cigar in his mouth. Malala values and fights for human rightsto education because her personal access to education was compromised, and because she believes that education is the basis of freedom, giving people choices in their own lives. The experiences of her mother, Toor Pekai, greatly impact Malala s life. Toor Pekai regrets that she never received a full education because she now feels locked into a societal stereotype. Her family encouraged her to go to school, but she thought that because she was a woman she would end up cleaning and cooking and never have a job, so she quit school. Malala writes that one day [Toor Pekai] sold her books for nine annas, spent the money on boiled sweets and never went back. (Yousafzai 40). Toor Pekai does not know how to read or write, and that greatly restricts her life. Malala has grown up with a love and passion for education, even though her mother left ... Some women don t start their prenatal care until the second trimester, so they might be offered second trimester screening tests for their prenatal genetic screening. Second trimester screening is normally done at week 15th 22nd of the pregnancy. The tests can correctly detect about 81 % of fetuses with Down syndrome, about 80 % of fetuses with trisomy 18 and about 80 % of fetuses with neural tube defects. When results from both first, if available, and second screening combine together, about 87 % of fetuses with Down syndrome, 90 % with trisomy 18 and 80 % with neural tube defects can be identified (Intermountain healthcare, 2014). Thirdly, the prenatal diagnostic tests including amniocentesis and CVS are highly accurate ways to check for genetic disorders (Intermountain healthcare, 2014). Both tests can confirm with 99 % of accuracy if a fetus has a genetic disorder. Additionally, CVS can be done early between weeks 10th 13th of pregnancy to help confirm the presence of a genetic disorder. This again gives expectant parents time to make decisions in regard to whether they should keep or terminate the pregnancy and how to take care of their future baby with special needs if they decide to continue with the ... When Ralph Lauren, the corporation, chose this quote from their respective patriarch as the basis for an advertisement in October 2017 s issue of Esquire Magazine, they were making a bold, blanket statement. They also made an assumption. While this advertisement uses many traditional American stereotypes, portraying a sense of optimism and nostalgia centered around civic nationalism, it makes a mistake in itsit s overly broad appeals that render the ad ineffective; the American dream is not everyone s dream, it s not even every American s dream. The Jeep is known as the vehicle that won World War II. The family represents the idea that America is a place where one s children can grow up to maximize their full potential. These items are all tied together by their identity within an American context. Of these classic American stereotypes, the cowboy hat atop Lauren s head carries with it as much nostalgia as nearly any other possible non government affiliated symbol (i.e. the American Flag). The cowboy hat represents American concepts such as the west, wide open spaces, and manifest destiny. A secondary interpretation, which actually makes more sense in the context of the ad, being that the form and shape of this hat renders itself much more commercial than functional, is that the hat references the Golden Age of Hollywood, a time in 1950 s and 1960 s America when Western film was at its height and every young boy in America wanted to be John Wayne. On an even deeper analysis, one may notice that the pose of Lauren in this photograph bears a striking resemblance to a famous portrait of President Ronald Reagan in his cowboy hat and work shirt. President Reagan is known, at least among conservatives, as a champion of the free work. They revere him for his economic policies that were pro capitalist and for his work to fight communism and end the Cold War. • 38. Analysis Of Paul s The Letter Of Romans Essay Romans Project Chapter 1 Summary: Paul begins the letter of Romans by introducing himself and stating his mission. Concisely stating the gospel message, Paul encourages the Roman Christians to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name (1:5), or for the glory of Jesus Christ. He goes on to write of his desires and intentions to visit Rome in order to preach the gospel of Christ to the Jews as well as the Gentiles. Paul continues by explaining his excitement for the gospel as well as the need to live the gospel out in our lives. Finishing the first chapter, Paul presents the inexcusable idolatry, sinfulness, and evilness of the ungodly. Key Verses: 1:16 17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, The righteous shall live by faith. Question: In 1:15, why is Paul eager to preach the gospel to a church that has presumably already received the gospel? Answer: In Romans 1:15, the you could possibly refer to Rome and all of its citizens. While this is a possibility, Douglas Moo notes that the you in verse 15 more likely refers to the members of the Roman church. In this case, Paul is referring to the gospel as the ongoing work of teaching and discipleship that builds on initial evangelism (Moo, p. 63). First I will talk about the similarities and then I will finish off with the differences, all of which will be based on factual information that I have gathered both, from the book and the mainstream media. Then I will finish by coming to a conclusion to an opinion I have and whether the government systems are more similar or different. In order to do so, I had to ask myself some important questions like: Is the telescreen in the book the same as the cameras at work watching us or the satellites the government has in space that can see you ... The overall conclusion to this statement is that the classes are divided with different opportunities and even though not as much as the government officials in the book, the upper classes still have more freedom to excel and do as they please. The second similarity is that both governments believe that ?War is Peace.? We saw in the book that the government of Oceania believed that the only way to have peace was through war and strength. They would at one time be peaceful with one of the two other two countries in the world, Eurasia or Eastasia, while waging war against the other. The government would also use excuses on why they were waging war. The same is here in The United States. We went to Iraq for reasons that some feel were not justified while others feel differently. The main argument of the opposition was that we went to war with Iraq on the basis that they had weapons of mass destruction and so forth but non were found. The question that I want to ask is: Were we lied to as the people in Oceania were? The third similarity is that both governments have their hands and control in every aspect of society?s life. Also the government spies on their citizens. In the book we saw Oceania had absolute control over people?s life. Even though the control that the United State government has over people?s lives these days is not as great as the one in the book, they still interfere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

European history of low cost airlines is much younger, but those airlines are for sure trendsetters of the 1990s. The expansion of LCCs in Europe coincided with the final deregulation of the market during the 1990s.
