In the last sixteen weeks, I have spent my time as an intern at Great American Insurance Company
in Cincinnati, OH. I was interning as an IT Desktop Technician for the Annuity Group. Interning in
this position meant being apart of a Desktop IT team, which consisted of two full time employees
and myself. Throughout my interning time, I have learned a lot of new things, improved on some
of my weaknesses, and also strengthened some of my strengths. On the job, my main role was to
work on PC refreshes. This meant handling users within the company s old desktop computers and
upgrading them to a new laptop. The process is very important because all users without laptops
were still using Windows XP operating systems, which is very outdated. The upgrade process
allowed for an upgrade in operating system as well, which was Windows 7. The routine was very
organized. Essentially, our Asset ManagementTeam would send tickets through our ServiceNow
application with lists of people who needed upgrades. The upgrades are based on how old your
machine is. Once I get the list, I go down to our IT laboratory and either use a nicely, refurbished
laptop or a brand new laptop. Then, I go and put the laptop on our workstations in the laboratory
and put our company s base image onto the laptop. The base image for all of our laptops includes

They mate at sea then they return to land at night. The mother uses her hand flippers to dig a
circular hole 40 to 50 centimeters deep. When the nest is dug, she starts filling it with soft
shelled eggs until she has placed around 50 to 350 eggs. Some only lay 250 eggs depending on

everyone s life they have to purchase a car or someone close to them makes that big purchase in

of ways. Spiegelman s choice to tell a biographical account in comic book form is bold in and of
itself, but his choice to portray all of his characters as animals is the most audacious and
controversial choice of all. In Maus, every ethnic group is characterized by its own distinct animal:
Jewsare mice, Germans are cats, non Jewish Poles are pigs, and so on. This deliberate choice
alludes to the extreme essentialization of identity during the Holocaust. Just as in Maus people are
very clearly labeled as mice, pigs, cats, etc., during the Holocaust, people were very strictly groups
together by whether they were Jewish, Polish, or German. Each group s identity was very discretely
defined, and there was meant to be no overlap between groups whatsoever. During the Holocaust,
who you were was predetermined, and you were stuck with your assigned identity and the
consequences and/or privileges that came with it. At key moments in the novel, however,
Spiegelman diverts from this strict essentialization of identity. At two distinct moments he draws

identity. In Maus, masks are used as measure of deception and affiliation. Through the use of masks,
