War And Western Influence On The Country Of Rambutan
It has been years since I abdicated my thrown in favor of a Kaufman system. You see I was a
powerful leader in my country but I did wrong by my people. I clung to power through force and
suppression which led to my ultimate downfall. Much like Iraq my country of Rambutan was a
result of war and western influence. People of conflicting beliefs were thrown together under one
state and given a constitution to abide by. Western powers believed that a democracy and
constructed constitution would solve the deep seated rivalry between the Durians and the Ackee s
and a nation would transcend a religious identity. This was not the case in fact it made it worse.
Durians held the majority of the state and our hatred toward the Ackee went back to the creation of
our religionof Langsat. The people of the country were not aware of what a democracy was or
how it worked. It became a question of who controls the state and I was the answer. As a general in
the Durian militaryit was easy for me to seize control. Overrun with power and military loyalty the
Ackee became marginalized. Along with the rest of the population. Animosity between the two
groups grew by the day ethnic and religious war was a constant. Security was nonexistent I made no
attempt to open up economically because much like Tunisia, Rambutan was a rentier state. This
allowed political elites to dominate the country s wealth, leading to extraordinary inequality. The
productivity necessary to develop the economy was

The Bathroom Ordinance
I never doubted that equal rights was the right direction. Most reforms, most problems are
complicated. But to me there is nothing complicated about ordinary equality. Alice Paul (Alice Paul
Quote) Due to recent events unfolding all across the nation many efforts have been made to push
for more equality. From movements like Gay Rights and #blacklivesmatter down to equal rights for
people in the workforce America is truly pushing for the rights to encompass all. On specific
movement here in the city of Houston has taken big steps to show the world that Houston does not
tolerate discrimination and to remind residents that Houstonians take action to counter those who
would perpetuate discrimination, racism, fear, and hate (Hamilton).... Show more content on

In recent polls conducted by TV stations here in Houston it was shown that supporters of the
ordinance [have] a slight lead, but each poll indicated that about one fifth of likely voters were
undecided (Lozano). Sally Field, an Oscar winning actress, supports H.E.R.O on the bases that this
is very personal to her because her mother and grandmother were both born here in Houston, and
she s the mother of a gay son (Karedes). Although many are for the act, on the other side of the
ballpark opponents contend the ordinance would infringe on their religious beliefs against
homosexuality (Lozano). Taking the view points on H.E.R.O from two gay friends shows both
viewpoints on the ordinance. One, Sydney, stated that they were okay with the act and that [the]
country was founded on equality (Hinojosa). The other, Amanda, is fearful that there is a potential
that their friends might get hurt if people misuse the equality of the bathrooms (Hinojosa) and is
focused more on just one aspect of the ordinance. Regardless of both viewpoints on H.E.R.O the
effects of the act will only come to light for here in Houston after it receives its final judgment
when it hit the polls Nov. 3rd of this

Research Paper On Madame Maupassant
Being a dead drop gorgeous French girl from a family of clerks with no dowry, no expectations,
no means of being known, understood, loved, wedded, by any rich and distinguished man,
(Maupassant, 1), Madame Loisel s life was definitely unfortunate. Madam Loisel did not own
any dresses or jewelry and had to dress unadorned. For ten onerous years, she to pay off her debt
for accidentally losing Mme. Forestier s necklace. Madame Loisel even let herself be married to a
little clerk... (Maupassant, 1). Nonetheless, quite a few of Madame Loisel s characteristics
selfishness, self absorption, and deceit are what determined her fate.
Some may believe that Madame Loisel deserves sympathy, since she is already miserable enough.
However, she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Madame Loisel married a clerk, she still had a peasant who did her humble house
work (Maupassant, 1). That is one more reason that she should be appreciative she is still above a
peasant and does not have to do her housework! She does not even resemble the woman of
impoverished households... frowsy hair, skirts askew, and red hands... (Maupassant, 5) that she
eventually ends up due to her atrocious personality and foolish choices. Additionally, on the night
of the ball, she danced with intoxication, with passion, made drunk with pleasure, forgetting all...
(Maupassant, page 3). It is wonderful that Madame Loisel could enjoy herself for once, but she
only pays attention to the men who are smitten with her dazzling looks. The lady s poor husband
slept since midnight, in a little deserted anteroom (Maupassant, 3) and they do not leave until four
o clock in the morning! Married couples go to dances to spend time with each other, not to catch
attention from the opposite gender. Lastly, when her husband covers her shoulders with modest
wraps of common life (Maupassant, 3) she feels ashamed because other women s coats were made
out of fur. Rather than being pleased that she has a loving and caring husband who does not want her

justification of knowledge. It is an examination of how we make knowledge (Dillon Wals, 2006).
Knowledge, according to constructivism, does not therefore exist in a state awaiting discovery
(Gordon, 2009) but is constructed by humans through proactive and purposive interaction with the
world (Morcol, 2001).
Methodology is the strategy or plan of action which lies behind the choice and use of particular
methods (Crotty, 1998). This research study will involve a large population of active duty service
members and veterans; therefore a quantitative research method will be conducted to ensure the
appropriateness of the study. Data collection methods implemented: Surveys /Questionnaires,
Interviews, Groups/Forums, and Observations.
Subsequently, there are limitations to all forms of research due to uncontrollable variables which in
most cases are the results of inadequate information and assumptions made regarding the research
topic. Limitations of scientific research commonly occur when the hypothesis of the study is not

A Study On Micro Cap Investing
Micro cap investing is an increasingly growing topic in today s society. There are many upsides
to this form of investing, but there is also a large downfall. Being a finance major, this topic is an
interesting one to study. This topic is specifically related to finance, although, investing, in general,
is something that does not require a degree to take part in. There is an incredible potential to earn
wealth. Micro cap investing is important in the business field because it is considered the riskiest
form of investing, and micro cap investors are encouraged to judge these companies carefully. This
is useful information to study.

Micro cap investing is an optimal solution to exponentially growing the wealth of one s wallet.
Investopedia said think big is the motto most successful investors live by (Loiacono, 2007).
B.What are micro cap investments?
Micro cap investments are investments made in companies worth $50 million to $300 million (
Micro Cap , 2003). In simpler terms, these are investments made in companies with small market
capitalizations. Typically, these are start up companies with little to no history, and in turn, this
means the companies have little media on them. Though they have little market capitalization
compared to other larger companies, this does not mean that their stock price is automatically lower.
It simply means that the risk in the investment is much higher. They are often not recognized
publicly, and because of the large risk involved, there is a healthy gap to earn money.
C.How are micro cap stocks traded?
Micro cap stocks are traded through different methods than regular stocks. Because these stocks do
not have the popularity to go through Wall Street or media, these stocks are traded through
something alternative. Most micro cap stocks are traded through a method known as over the
counter ( Microcap Stock: A Guide for Investors , 2013). Over the counter means that it is not run
through the national securities exchange ( Microcap Stock: A Guide for Investors , 2013).

Identifying An Organism With A Biological Lens Essay
Spectrophotometrically Identifying Alfalfa Sprouts Chloroplasts and Lysosomes Isolated in a
Sucrose Gradient
Introduction: Conceptualizing an organism with a biological lens involves understanding the
organism s components and how their individual functions characterize the overarching entity. For
a body, this means understanding organs and tissues. For a cell, this means classifying its organelles
and discerning their functions. Analysis of subcellular components has become a major focus in
biochemical studies, and it relies heavily on the fractionation of organelles. Fractioning and
isolating organelles essentially enables a scientist to elucidate organelle functions, which, as
mentioned before, adds definition to the all encompassing image of a cell. Modern studies on this
topic tend to target organelles with somewhat ambiguous functions, like anammoxosomes and
melanosomes. By isolating these subcellular components and analyzing them, biologists have
unearthed ammoxosomes role in filling a large part of the Earth s atmosphere with nitrogen gas
(Neumann et. al, 2014). In addition to this, other biological organizations have managed to
sequester intact melanosomes from cells, separating them from other items of similar densities, and
study the activity of V Type ATPase proteins while they are in a subcellular membrane (Pelkonen et.
al, 2016). The general procedure for executing an experiment like these involves lysing cells,
centrifuging their components, and separating

Big City Sociology
As the world s population is booming, it requires for more cities to be developed and to grow in
order to meet the needs of the population. Megacities are cities in which the population have
surpassed 10 million, such as Buenos Aires. During the English Industrial Revolution, Manchester
was an important city like Buenos Aires. Their population were able to grow fast because of
technology and citizens leaving their rural effect, but these changes harmed society. In Manchester,
many people left their rural homes amidst the start of the Industrial Revolution. The concept of
enclosure was widespread during that time which helped generate more money, but reduced the
needs for large amount of workers. Not only did the farms need less workers, but better wages
were undoubtedly the greatest attraction of city life (Griffin). As a result, the movement of
urbanization happened when many people left their homes for the cities. This caused the
population to rise quickly which had a negative effect because of the living conditions that existed
in Manchester. Most of the people who moved to the cities were living in slums... Show more

Burn Injury
Burn injury is one of the most severe forms of critical illness and is associated with long term
complications. One concern is the long term effects of burn associated metabolic abnormalities in
glucose and lipid metabolism, which lead to the high incidence of morbidity and mortality in this
patient population [1].
Children are more vulnerable than adults to the metabolic abnormalities associated with burns due
to anatomical and physiologic factors and their limited energy reserves compared with adults [2].
Severe burns are physically and psychologically catastrophic. Burned children have an elevated
resting energy expenditure, muscle weakness, and whole body catabolism, all of which are
worsened by prolonged bed rest and physical inactivity [3, 4]. Burned patients suffer from a
concomitant muscle wasting and negative nitrogen balance. The use of anabolic agents such as
recombinant human growth hormone and oxandrolone results in improved bone mineral content
and muscle strength [5].
The role of the skin in maintaining adequate serum vitamin D (VD) levels has been well
established [6]. VD, or calciferol, is a liposoluble prohormone available in two forms: VD2 and
VD3. Many studies have suggested that VD is essential for bone health because of its role in the

Cancun has the most beautiful and unique beaches with soft sand, the tallest amazing temples, and

Progressive Rock Era
The progressive rock era was primarily found and established in the late 1960s to the early 1970s.
It primarily evolved due to a mostly British attempt to elevate rock music to new levels of artistic
credibility. The primary characteristics of this genre is to push the boundaries of rock s technical
and compositional boundaries. By utilizing this idea, the songs produced incorporate elements from
jazz, classical, and vary greatly depending on the background of the person. If a musician grew up
listening to Jazz, there will be lots of jazz elements found in the progressive musiche or she was
producing. The instrument choice also provides a huge element of the unique sound a musician or

The Importance Of Controversy In Art
Art has been apart of humanity for about 300,000 to 700,000 years and has served as a form of
expression ever since. With expression comes interpretation and with interpretation comes
controversy. Controversy can be found in all forms of art such as music, illustrations, and even
television shows. Controversy in artwork can affect the consumer in numerous ways and some may
argue how the controversy affects the consumer. Author Jessica Hopper shows how controversy in
art can lead to a stronger emotional connection with the art and the consumer. Jessica Hopper, an
author as well as music critic, speaks about her personal experience with the controversy regarding
emomusic and how women are given no life. Author Jesse Hassenger shows how controversy can
negatively affect the consumer. Hassenger talks about James Rolfe, also known as The Angry
Video Game Nerd , who posted a viral video about the controversy regarding the new Ghostbusters
adaptation. I believe the effect controversy has on its consumer is completely dependent on the
thoughts and beliefs the consumer has on the subject at hand. Author Jessica Hopper would argue
that controversy has a positive effect on the consumer because it gives the consumer a stronger
emotional connection with the artwork. This is evident in her writing Emo: Where The Girls
Aren t . Hopper is a fan of the emo genre in music. Hopper feels that women have been locked out
of this genre that she appreciates so much. She states Girls in

The University Of Notre Dame s Undergraduate Usage Of St....
The purpose of this project was to examine the University of Notre Dame s undergraduate usage of
St. Liam s health center. Five questions were proposed to collect data on specific areas to gain an
understanding of how often and why undergraduate students seek out St. Liam s services. We
believe that St. Liam s is underutilized and hypothesized that not many undergraduates use the
services provide. Furthermore, we suspect that factors such as stress and grades (GPA) affect a
student s health, which would prompt them to visit and use St. Liam s health center. One of the
target questions focused on St. Liam s mental health and counseling services. We aim to determine
what type of mental health issue increases the number of times undergraduates students visited St.
Liam s for mental health/counseling services. Our results indicated that there is a relationship
between the student s type of issue and the number of visits to St. Liam s. From this, we can draw
from the raw data that the issue most prevalent in causing students to seek out counseling is mental
illness such as depression and bipolar disorder, with stress being the third most prominent cause.
However, majority of the students reported having no issue, but this did not affect the number of
visits these students made to St. Liam s. An equal number of students reporting no issue made a
different amount of trips to St. Liam s for mental health services, implying that most students are
just as likely to use St. Liam s.

Film Review Of Camila
Camila Film Review The tyrannical period of Argentina from 1829 to 1852 was filled with
brutality and death at every corner; no one was safe, not even the wealthy or the immaculate. The
corrupt regime, flooded with strict rules and forced advocacy, dominated society for over twenty
years. During this time, two unlucky lovers fell deep into the unforgiving pit of this cruel regime.
The film Camila , with its star crossed lovers juxtaposed in a callous and dictatorial society, has a
dark romantic plot soaked with violence. This melodrama features constant blood spill and horror
under Argentinas tyrannical leader, Juan Manuel de Rosas. The film features violence such as the
killing of a bookkeeper, the brutality of Camila s patriarchal family, and the ultimate demise of
Camila, her unborn child, and her lover. Although never pictured, this unforgiving ruler leaves
quite an impression in the two main characters lives, who are never able to escape the heinous
regime of Rosas. Camila shares the tale of two unlucky partners who become stuck in Rosas
never ending web of death and discontent. The film reveals how brutal and unforgiving life was
during this period. The beginning of the film shows Camila s grandmother being locked away due
to her previous relationship with a viceroy. She is automatically rejected from society and
imprisoned in her son s home. Although she manages to escape death, her life is essentially tossed

The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy,...
American Literature
9 March 2013
The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy, and Editha Charlotte Perkins Gilman s
piece, The Yellow Wallpaper (written in 1890, published in 1892), is a semi autobiographical piece
that, although believed to be a result of her severe postpartum depression, illustrates the difficulties
faced by women during the Women s Movement. These difficulties are further illustrated by the
similarly semi autobiographical poem, based on Plath s father and husband, Daddy by Sylvia Plath
(written in 1962, published in 1965). These gender roles are then reversed in Editha, (written in
1898, published in 1905) which has been said to be William Dean Howells s response to the Spanish
American War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial description of this woman is of her stooping down and creeping about. The woman in
the wallpaper is a direct reflection of the narrator s confidence and feelings of inferiority, and the
change they undergo. Initially, the woman in the wall symbolizes the narrator s fear of
presenting herself and her opinions, and being her husband s equal. She begins to display a
building confidence in herself, and an almost amused view of John s orders. When John tells her
that she seems to be doing well, in spite of the wallpaper, she has to stop herself from openly
laughing. It is at this point, where she is building confidence in herself, that she begins to see the
woman in the wallpaper more clearly. She states, I think that woman gets out in the daytime! And I
ll tell you why privately I ve seen her! symbolizing her confidence beginning to emerge. Finally,
she allows herself to be fully confident; she allows her mind to fully explore the wallpaper. The
lines, then I peeled off all the paper I could reach standing on the floor. It sticks horribly and the
pattern just enjoys it, symbolizes the destruction of that which limits her. One may argue that she
has had a psychotic break, but the intention of these lines is to show the narrator gaining
confidence. As Gilman says herself in an article submitted to the October 1913 issue of The
Forerunner regarding her treatment: then, using the remnants of intelligence that remained [...] I

Autoimmune Disease By Vitamin D. D ) Case Study
This important molecule is naturally occurs in all human cells12. Production of this cell is through
the conversion of the amino acid tryptophan or vitamin B3, although it turns out vitamin B3 has
one significant drawback12. And as we age, the metabolic activity in human body gets slow down.
As due to less production of this molecule in the human body, there will be the less production of

Stocks play a significant part in our economy. For many investors, stock splits seem to be too great

Predation Cost of Conspicuous Male Coloration in Collard...
Introduction Animal coloration is due to pigmentation found in the skin, feathers, and fur. Pigments
are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living
things. Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible
light. The visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010).
Chromatophores are also important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers
of the skin in animals. Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores
(red), xanthophores (yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the colorof the pigments. The dispersal
of these cells and the pigments and their orientation determine the color... Show more content on

Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on
conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that
suffered greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski
2003). Even though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species
recognition favor conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more
conspicuous organisms suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994;
Houde 1997). A limitation of support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation
risk is the way conspicuous colors are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of
different species of animals vary significantly from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to
humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator (Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart

Analysis Of Long Day s Journey Into The Night And The Enemy
In the two readings of Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the Night and Margarita
Spalding Gerry s The Enemy , we can compare and contrast the main characters of the women in
each reading on behalf of their drug addiction. In Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the
Night, Mary Tyrone struggles with her addictionof Morphineand in Margarita Spalding Gerry s The
Enemy , Mrs. Campbell also struggles with morphine addiction. In both readings we can
compare and contrast each of these women s lifestyles and how they are affected by their
morphine addiction. In both readings, these two women were prescribed morphine by their
doctors. In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary Tyrone is prescribed morphine for her so
called Rheumatism and Mrs. Cambell from The Enemy was prescribed morphine for some
slight neuralgic trouble, after analyzing both texts, it seems like the reasons for their morphine
prescription is just a cover up for a different and a more deep reasoning to kill their pain. In The
Enemy the doctor is blamed for prescribing Mrs. Campbell morphine just to make a profit, Oh
yes, there are always druggists that pander to anything with a profit Both doctors can be put at
fault for the start of their addiction for prescribing morphine to someone who does not
necessarily need it. By prescribing morphine to these women, they have an excuse to continue
their use of morphine because they believe they have a logical problem that they need to control.
In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary recognizes her doctor is all in it for profit, I hate
doctors! They ll do anything anything to keep them coming to them. They ll sell their souls!
What s worse, they ll sell yours, and you never know it till one day you find yourself in hell!
(P.76) Even though Mary recognizes the truth behind these doctors, she stills uses her Rheumatism
disease as a legitimate excuse to use morphine as she explains to her son Edmund that she shouldn
t be ashamed of her addiction, I suffer from rheumatism in my hands and have to take medicine to
kill the pain? Why should I be ashamed of that? (P. 118) The more in depth cause of these
addictions may be affected by cultural expectations of their

Managing Multi Generation Workforce
MANAGING MULTI GENERATION WORKFORCE A NEW CHALLENGE IN I.T. INDUSTRY

ABSTRACT:
Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their shoulders
more or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these generations show drastic
variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work
environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for
the organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking
about IT industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the
Traditionalists. As the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby
Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation.
Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top
managers. The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more
matured workforce and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change
their basic policies, which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the
campus. This situation has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but
also making them work under same policy framework. This research work helps in

The Importance of Self-Awareness in Counselling
HOW DOES A COUNSELLOR DIFFER FROM A FRIEND? Folashade Oloniyo Abstract In this
essay, the characteristics of a counsellor and a friend will be expanded upon in order to gain a
greater knowledge for deciphering the two. We all have been in situations where we hit a brick
wall in our life and are unsure of the next step or the next move to make. We have close friends to
whom we can turn and reach out to, but in some situations, are they really our best option for
help? Friends are needed for support on many levels, but on others, professional reinforcement may
be of greater good. With that said, I challenge you the reader and ask the questions: What is
counselling? How does a counsellor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

obligation to remain objective and non judgmental at whatever is said to you by your client. I can
recall feeling slightly judgmental; I thought to myself that my client/friend was making completely
unhealthy and unwise decisions. Her actions were so silly and desperate and completely opposite
to how I would have acted. I attempted to transfer my views as diplomatically as possible, trying
not to cause a wall of defense to be built. In an actual client and counsellor setting, this type of
thinking definitely defies objectivity standpoints that counsellors should ensue. Objectivity is

Essay on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Abstract
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome remains the leading cause of post neonatal mortality (under the
age of one) in developed countries. The causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome have been
puzzling and research is being conducted to solve this catastrophic problem. Having a child under
the age of one makes me very concerned, along with any other parent(s), that the possibility of
SIDS could affect any infant at anytime, SIDS does not discriminate. I am seeking to find the
possible causes to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome so in the future deaths could be avoided.
Researchers have studied the many possible causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and four
have been selected for this paper.

The researchers also examined a correlation between the prenatal risk factors and the incidences of
SIDS.
Sample:
The researcher collected a sample of 244 SIDS cases and 869 controls in Denmark, Sweden and
Norway. All the SIDS diagnosis were confirmed by the same forensic pathologist for accuracy.
Four control groups were selected with the criteria of sameness in gender, age and place of birth.
Method:
Between the years of 1992 to 1995 the parents of the SIDS victims completed a questionnaire
inquired as to the potential risk factors of SIDS. The questions on the questionnaire were regarding
the sleeping position (independent variable) of the infant and prenatal information (independent
variable) prior to death due to SIDS (dependent variable).
Findings:
The results found a high risk factor in prone and side sleeping in infants 13 to 24 weeks old and
that the risk for prone sleeping was higher in girls than it was for boys. Also, the incidence of
SIDS was higher in prone and side sleeping positions than supine sleeping position. The incidence
of SIDS was found to be greater in infants of low birth weight and that were considered preterm.
Additionally, infants who experienced intrauterine retarded growth showed a higher risk for SIDS
when slept in the

Third Grade Classroom Observation
For my observation, I observed a first to third grade special day class at a public Fresno Unified
School District classroom in Fresno, California. When I first entered the classroom all the students,
approximately 10 students, were sitting down on the rug in front of the class as the teacher was
reading a short story to them. When she finished they would go over their reading assignment.
For the first half an hour, I could see that the students in the back had a difficult time sitting still in
the crisscross position on the rug. One student would frequently stand up on his knees, lie down on
the rug, or spin himself in a circle. During this time I noticed that most of the students who also sat
in the back row on the rug was talking to their peers, while one student stayed quiet and entertained
himself with hyperactivity movements, sucking on his thumb, or playing with his shoelaces. When
the teacher finishes her explanation of the butterfly life cycle, a student quietly raised his hand and
asks her if he would be able to create a human life cycle instead.
I chose to observe a young Caucasian male student, around seven or eight years old. I also do not
have any background information about this student. For the purpose of this observation paper, I

The Influence Of Stereotyping
When we first meet a new person, we are all guilty of creating judgements and stereotypes based on
things such as culture, appearance, and initial personality. Someone meeting me for the first time
would likely judge my culture by labeling me as white, a country girl, a Christian, Midwestern, and
a blonde. Individual stereotypes they would initially give me might include, young, quiet, mature,
weird, and caring. Stereotyping can be found all around us. It is constantly in the media, including
the Internet, television, and movies. Family and friends certainly influences our initial thoughts
about others, too. The people that we spend time with and trust are often those that we tend to
reflect. For example, I come from a pretty welcoming family, so I tend to be open when I meet

Relief Of All Of The Special Needs
Need for the Study
If this research is never conducted, ensuring the evacuation of all of the special needs
individuals who need assistance will turn out to be a disaster in itself. If there is not a proper
location for these individuals to go to, this will lead to loss of life or hospitalization for some,
and mass chaos for others. There is a possibility that there are more people with special needs
than available space or transportation. There is also a possibility that even if there is available
space or transportation, that those with medical needs may not be able to be cared for in the
facility provided. In order to find out if this is the case in Santa Rosa County, the Emergency
Management Department needs to find out how many people need assistance.
In order to complete this research, Santa Rosa County Emergency Department needs to provide a
way to communicate with the special needs populace. To start off with, the method chosen will
be a questionnaire. This will consist of face to face interaction with the parents/caretakers of the
special needs individuals that are chosen by a non probability sample. According to van Thiel, a
sample is a selection from the total population of possible units of study (van Thiel, pg. 46).
Within the non probability sample, a purposeful approach will be utilized. Doing so, the people
chose will only be from the special needs populace.

Essay about The Great Potato Famine
The Great Potato Famine
The Great Potato Famine is characterized as one of the leading disasters in Ireland s history. It
began in the summer of 1845 with the appearance of an unusual disease growing on potato crops
throughout various parts of Europe. With the spread of this disease, it soon targeted Ireland
consuming the major crop of potatoes. The famine began by this mysterious disease that hit many
parts of Europe during 1845. This disease known as the blight was caused by a fungus known
phytophthora infestans . Prior to the blight, two main diseases known as curl and dry rot attacked
Ireland but were not as destructive (Kinealy 33). The blight was known to be originated from South
America through cargo ships that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By Ireland lacking things such as coal and iron, and not being as conductive in any other special
skills, their reliance was on the agriculture of the country. Remaining then on the agriculture and
the production of goods, the main importance therefore was the potato (O Brien 103). Among
the expanding population, the limit of potatoes was scarce, and in the event of something as
serious as the blight, the dependency became higher which led some people to emigrate or
starve (O Brien 103). At this time, about forty percent of the entire potato crop was ruined, so
the dependency began to grow stronger, and people began to make decisions on what to do
because of the overpopulation and scarce food sources (Newsinger 2). The main cause for why
Ireland was hit so hard during the spread of the blight was because of the over populated areas in
certain parts of Ireland.
The Famine in Ireland was based on several circumstances which occurred within the Country.
Another cause was the dependency on the potato which resulted from the over population. Since
potatoes were grown by a considerable section of the population, this caused such a dependency that
other citizens concentrated on Irelands agricultural growth of grains. A few years before the
Famine, the Irish economy expanded in the production of grains and exporting them to other
countries such as Britain. With the growth of grain exports from Ireland to Britain, the

Oresteia
At the point when a person is blamed for a crime they are either discovered guilty or innocent. This
is the fundamental thought of justice and it is the thing that people feel needs to happen on the off
chance that somebody has done something dubious. In the play The Oresteia by Aeschylus, the tale
of Clytemnestra guilt or innocents is addressed.
She does numerous things that individuals are not very content with and those disputable activities
all through the story; basically in the primary part Agamemnon gets her into an inconvenience. As
we investigate the body of evidence that works against her innocents by investigating the killings of
Agamemnon and Cassandra and the proud expression about the killings.
This activity causes a lot of fierceness in Clytemnestra. One could exceptionally surely know
why she would act along these lines. Clytemnestra see s the slaughtering of her little girl as
simply being murdered for her spouse s gain. She additionally feels that he could have picked an
alternate virgin to give up. One the other hands, if one takes a gander at Agamemnon s issue they
could think something else. Agamemnon was the general of his armed force and the pioneer that
his men gazed upward to. So when the benefit came to him saying I will give you wind for a
virgin sacrifice he took it as relinquishing somebody close to him. So Agamemnon picks his girl

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research Paper
Spinal Muscular Atrophy Eveline S. Arnold and Kenneth H. Fischbeck Neurogenetics Branch,
National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda,
MD, USA Abstract Autosomal recessive proximal spinal muscular atrophy (Werdnig Hoffmann,
Kugelberg Welander) is caused by mutation of the SMN1 gene, and the clinical severity correlates
with the number of copies of a nearly identical gene, SMN2. The SMN protein plays a critical role
in spliceosome assembly and may have other cellular functions such as mRNA transport. Cell
culture and animal models have helped to define the disease mechanism and to identify targets for
therapeutic intervention. The main focus for developing treatment has been to increase... Show more

These mice, a severe model from the Arthur Burghes lab at Ohio State University, are either
stillborn or die on average at approximately postnatal day 5 with approximately 40% loss of
motor neurons, representing the severe type I SMA phenotype. As is seen in human patients,
mice with higher copy numbers (more than eight) of the SMN2 transgene were phenotypically
rescued, once again demonstrating that the SMA phenotype could be modified by the number of
copies of SMN2 (Monani et al., 2000). A similar strategy was used to generate SMA mice in the
Hung Li lab in Taiwan (Hsieh Li et al., 2000). In contrast to Burghes severe model, the Hung Li
SMA mice showed a range of phenotypic severity within the same litter, from severe to moderate.
Further studies indicated that this variation in phenotypic severity was likely due to hemi or
homozygous transmission of the transgenic human SMN2 allele on the background of
heterozygous deletion of the Smn1 endogenous allele, thereby producing mice expressing varying
copy numbers of the transgene (Gogliotti et al., 2010). Building on the development of the Burghes
severe model, mice expressing a SMNпЃ„7 transgene in addition to full length SMN2 were also
produced (Smn1 / ;SMN2tg/tg;SMNпЃ„7tg/tg). Introduction of the SMNпЃ„7 allele extended the
life span of affected mice from approximately five days to approximately thirteen days (Le et al.,
2005) and indicated that SMN produced from the SMN2 locus could be a valid therapeutic target.
To date, the two most commonly used mouse models are the Smn1 / ;SMN2tg/tg;SMNпЃ„7tg/tg
(SMAпЃ„7 mice) and the Smn1hung / ;SMN2Hungtg/tg (Hung Li SMA mice), which both have an
average survival of approximately 13 days and recapitulate the clinical manifestations and

Integrated Reporting And An Understanding Of A Company s...
Integrated Reporting is a more holistic approach to gaining an understanding of a company s
performance. It takes into consideration factors including the environment, society and governance
when evaluating a company s performance and strategizing on a future course of action. One of the
most recent and promising developments in Integrated Reporting has been the release of the
Integrated International Reporting Framework by the International Integrated Reporting Council.
This paper assesses the opportunities, benefits, challenges and limitations of this framework.
Introduction
The Integrated International Reporting Framework was introduced by the International Integrated
Reporting Council (IIRC) to guide the entire integrated reporting process and also to clearly define
key ideas and concepts of this framework. Given some of the confusion surrounding this framework
among companies and accountants in New Zealand with respect to what precisely the Integrated IR
Framework is and how it might affect accounting practice, this essay purports to clearly explain the
framework. Further, this paper will also critically examine the framework, highlighting some of the
salient opportunities, benefits, challenges and limitations of this approach. Finally, it will briefly
reflect upon the implication of the framework for accounting practice.

The Board Of Overseers, Ladies And Gentlemen Essay

Mr. President, Dr. Conant, members of the Board of Overseers, Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am profoundly grateful, touched by the great distinction and honor and great compliment
accorded me by the authorities of Harvard this morning. I am overwhelmed, as a matter of fact,
and I am rather fearful of my inability to maintain such a high rating as you ve been generous

But to speak more seriously, I need not tell you that the world situation is very serious. That must
be apparent to all intelligent people. I think one difficulty is that the problem is one of such
enormous complexity that the very mass of facts presented to the public by press and radio make it
exceedingly difficult for the man in the street to reach a clear appraisement of the situation.
Furthermore, the people of this country are distant from the troubled areas of the earth, and it is
hard for them to comprehend the plight and consequent reactions of the long suffering peoples of
Europe and the effect of those reactions on their governments in connection with our efforts to
promote peace in the world.
In considering the requirements for the rehabilitation of Europe, the physical loss of life, the visible
destruction of cities, factories, mines, and railroads was correctly estimated, but it has become

they are punished by gods and men, are those whose sins are curable; and they are improved, as

Cross Sex Relationships Are Becoming Increasingly More...
Cross sex relationships are becoming increasingly more popular than ever before. According to
Schoonover and McEwan of Predicting the audience challenge in cross sex friendships, men
and women have complimenting communication styles and this is what makes cross sex
friendships so appealing as it grows to be more accepted (Schoonover, McEwan, 2014). In
analyzing the benefits for both sexes, the most significant challenges, and the cultural or societal
challenges, it can be concluded that while cross sex friendships come with their own trials, it
can be a very rewarding relationship. Who Benefits More Both men and women are able to reap
the benefits of cross sex friendships because they are given insight into unfamiliar territory.
Seeking advice about the opposite sex with a friend who is of the same sex does not always give
the most accurate perspective and so that sex is not represented. On the downside, women who
have too many male friends may be seen as promiscuous in this society because it is not a good

from maintaining many cross sex relationships. For this reason, men have the greatest benefit for
maintaining cross sex relationships which is why they may be known to engage in them more
frequently. Men Men benefit from cross sex friendships because they seek out female

The American Epidemic of Obesity
As Americans we have made food not only a way to live but all help us with life events, whether
emotional times or celebratory events we turn to food. However our society has been consumed
with unhealthy food options readily available. This has in turn caused a huge medical epidemic in
America. Obesity has and will put people at risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some types of
cancer. More than one third of American adults are obese (Ogden et al., 2012). By looking in depth
at the obesity epidemic in America through the three major sociological perspectives (structural
functionalist, social conflict, and symbolic interactionist) we are able to better discern this medical
issue impacting the health of American people. Structural Functionalist Perspective The structural
functionalist perspective would argue obesity in America is a necessary epidemic to our society.
After all, structural functionalist believe that all mechanisms that exist a definite meaning and are
useful to society as a whole. Structural functionalist could say that having overweight and obese
people in the world causes us to put attention on the true problems of health care. Obesity for a
structural functionalist is crucial for the continuous learning of human health and also for our love
and hate relationship with food. Structural functional would also argue that having an obese

routines for greats such as The Miracles, The Temptations, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Pips,
and many others. Atkins destroyed negative stereotypes as he performed in Jim Crow s America.

Charles Cholly Atkins was truly a class act. He definitely a leader in the entertainment industry,
and he knew it. Not only was he amazing at various types of dance, he was a gifted singer, and a
superb choreographer. His career started in the 1930s and the legacy of it extends even to today.
His dancing style was like no others; he combined standard tap dance with modern dance and
ballet moves to create amazing and eye catching tap techniques. Atkins performed in venues
such as Broadway and the Apollo theatre. He also choreographed performances for the likes of
the Temptations, the Pips. the Cadillacs and many others. His vocal choreography changed the
way tap dance and dace ita=self was perceived by performers. Even when tap almost died, Cholly
never abandoned tap; when he started choreographing for musical groups some of the moves he
taught the group came from tap dance such as the ball change and he taught the groups he
worked with how to dance smoothly as if they were doing the soft shoe. Charles Cholly Atkins
was indeed an amazing performer and choreographer. He was able to stay relevant in the
entertainment industry, and because of this was a household name for so long. He was able to
morph his image to change the times, and that was the key to his success. Unlike many of the
famous tappers of the 1950s and 1960s he was still popular

Internal Controls Protect Businesses Essay
American stockholders have billions if not trillions of dollars invested in various publicly traded
companies throughout the country. With that much money involved, it is only wise that there be
control measures and safeguards put into place protect these investments from any unlawful or
irresponsible activity. Publicly traded companiesare required by law to develop such measures.
These measures are often referred to as internal controls. These internal controls exist for two main
reasons. One reason being, to keep the employees honest. With so much money and other assets
involved in business every day, the temptation to steal or misuse those assets cannot be ignored.
Humans are flawed beings and measures need to keep such activity from... Show more content on

Internal controls are can be set up in several different ways based on several basic principles. One
very important principle is to establish responsibility. It is important to clearly identify who is in
charge and who is accountable for certain tasks. Without accountability, individuals will simply pass
the buck and avoid taking responsibility whenever something bad happens.
Companies must also set up physical control measures to safeguard assets. Several examples of
such safe guards are limiting access to cash through the use of safes and pass code protected
registers. Security cameras and alarm systems are also effective control measures.
Companies also segregate or separate related tasks and assign them to different individuals. This
makes it extremely difficult for employees to steal or misuse assets because they cannot
completely conceal their activities. For example, where I work, there are over 100 company
vehicles. Supervisors assign the vehicles, while employees drive the vehicles, and a separate
vehicle management officer (VMO) maintains vehicle usage records. If someone wanted to use a
vehicle in an unauthorized manor, they would have to somehow fraudulently obtain a vehicle from
a supervisor, use the vehicle without other employees finding out, and then conceal the use of fuel
and mileage from the VMO. The task is not impossible, but extremely difficult to accomplish. Using

Compare and Contrast Essay: Rikki tikki tavi Snakes and mongooses don t usually get along.
Well, in Rikki tikki tavi, that is very true. Rikki tikki is constantly fighting a snake. There is both
a book and a video about this exciting story. There are many similarities and there are also
differences. In the book, Rikki tikki gets washed away in a flood. A family is out in their garden
full of many beautiful plants, and find him lying under the hot sun. They take him into their
home and feed him a piece of raw meat. Rikki tikki doesn t let any harmful animal get to his

Audrey Hepburn, S Influence On Hollywood s Life
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I m possible ! (Audrey Hepburn) Hollywood s
golden age was a time where Hollywood was one of the most visible businesses in America and
higher quality sound and film that started from 1930 and to the 1960s. Many actors and actresses
had been an inspiration, like Audrey Hepburn who flourished during the last years. Audrey
Hepburn, famous actress, dancer and fashionista, is the most known person in the 1960s for her
amazing acting that makes her one of the best of all time. Audrey Hepburn had a arduous
childhood, many events happening but make her a perseverant person. First and foremost, A
native of Brussels, Hepburn spent part of her youth in England at a boarding school there. During
much of World War II, she studied at the Arnhem Conservatory in The Netherlands. Education was
the simplest thing in her life at the time as she was going through the war and family change, but
manages to keep an education unlike maybe some others. Furthermore, Audrey Hepburn also had
been alive during the time of World War II and her childhood had been affected greatly because of
such dramatic changes. After the Germans invaded the Netherlands in 1940, Hepburn used the
name Edda van Heemstra, because an English sounding name was considered dangerous during the
German occupation. Also, Her family was profoundly affected by the occupation, with Hepburn
later stating that had we known that we were going to be occupied for five years, we

What Are Some Amount Of Praise Towards Students With Their...
The purpose and relevance of this study are to determine if we use a certain amount of praise
towards students if their behavior will change through different kinds of situations. There were
two experiments conducted for this study. The two experiments were called Experiment 1 and
Experiment 2. The different groups that would be used during this study were called easy 100,
easy 33, and difficult 100. The main focus of this study is to get rid of problematic behaviors,
mainly those who self injure, have aggression, and have tantrums, all of which that are serious
enough for the safety of the child and others. The study has a few factors that are liable for the
care of the problem behaviors which, falls into two classes such as escape behaviorwhich is
controlled by negative reinforcement developments, and attention requesting behavior that is
controlled by positive reinforcement developments. There is a decent amount of evidence that is
said to believe that many of the children learn to produce problematic behaviors in the existence
of aversive stimuli. It is seen that aversive stimuli are being used in everyday classroom settings.
In these settings the instructional demands may be more frequent aversive stimuli and a range of
different problematic behaviors such as aggression, self injury, and tantrums may serve as an
escape behavior which, allows children to avoid what they were going to be participating in, in the
classroom. In the first experiment, we will be

  • 2. War And Western Influence On The Country Of Rambutan It has been years since I abdicated my thrown in favor of a Kaufman system. You see I was a powerful leader in my country but I did wrong by my people. I clung to power through force and suppression which led to my ultimate downfall. Much like Iraq my country of Rambutan was a result of war and western influence. People of conflicting beliefs were thrown together under one state and given a constitution to abide by. Western powers believed that a democracy and constructed constitution would solve the deep seated rivalry between the Durians and the Ackee s and a nation would transcend a religious identity. This was not the case in fact it made it worse. Durians held the majority of the state and our hatred toward the Ackee went back to the creation of our religionof Langsat. The people of the country were not aware of what a democracy was or how it worked. It became a question of who controls the state and I was the answer. As a general in the Durian militaryit was easy for me to seize control. Overrun with power and military loyalty the Ackee became marginalized. Along with the rest of the population. Animosity between the two groups grew by the day ethnic and religious war was a constant. Security was nonexistent I made no attempt to open up economically because much like Tunisia, Rambutan was a rentier state. This allowed political elites to dominate the country s wealth, leading to extraordinary inequality. The productivity necessary to develop the economy was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Identifying An Organism With A Biological Lens Essay Spectrophotometrically Identifying Alfalfa Sprouts Chloroplasts and Lysosomes Isolated in a Sucrose Gradient Introduction: Conceptualizing an organism with a biological lens involves understanding the organism s components and how their individual functions characterize the overarching entity. For a body, this means understanding organs and tissues. For a cell, this means classifying its organelles and discerning their functions. Analysis of subcellular components has become a major focus in biochemical studies, and it relies heavily on the fractionation of organelles. Fractioning and isolating organelles essentially enables a scientist to elucidate organelle functions, which, as mentioned before, adds definition to the all encompassing image of a cell. Modern studies on this topic tend to target organelles with somewhat ambiguous functions, like anammoxosomes and melanosomes. By isolating these subcellular components and analyzing them, biologists have unearthed ammoxosomes role in filling a large part of the Earth s atmosphere with nitrogen gas (Neumann et. al, 2014). In addition to this, other biological organizations have managed to sequester intact melanosomes from cells, separating them from other items of similar densities, and study the activity of V Type ATPase proteins while they are in a subcellular membrane (Pelkonen et. al, 2016). The general procedure for executing an experiment like these involves lysing cells, centrifuging their components, and separating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Manchester, many people left their rural homes amidst the start of the Industrial Revolution. The concept of enclosure was widespread during that time which helped generate more money, but reduced the needs for large amount of workers. One concern is the long term effects of burn associated metabolic abnormalities in glucose and lipid metabolism, which lead to the high incidence of morbidity and mortality in this patient population [1]. Children are more vulnerable than adults to the metabolic abnormalities associated with burns due to anatomical and physiologic factors and their limited energy reserves compared with adults [2]. Severe burns are physically and psychologically catastrophic. Burned children have an elevated resting energy expenditure, muscle weakness, and whole body catabolism, all of which are worsened by prolonged bed rest and physical inactivity [3, 4]. Burned patients suffer from a concomitant muscle wasting and negative nitrogen balance. The use of anabolic agents such as recombinant human growth hormone and oxandrolone results in improved bone mineral content and muscle strength [5]. The role of the skin in maintaining adequate serum vitamin D (VD) levels has been well established [6]. VD, or calciferol, is a liposoluble prohormone available in two forms: VD2 and VD3. Five questions were proposed to collect data on specific areas to gain an understanding of how often and why undergraduate students seek out St. Liam s services. We believe that St. Liam s is underutilized and hypothesized that not many undergraduates use the services provide. Furthermore, we suspect that factors such as stress and grades (GPA) affect a student s health, which would prompt them to visit and use St. Liam s health center. One of the target questions focused on St. Liam s mental health and counseling services. We aim to determine what type of mental health issue increases the number of times undergraduates students visited St. Liam s for mental health/counseling services. Our results indicated that there is a relationship between the student s type of issue and the number of visits to St. Liam s. From this, we can draw from the raw data that the issue most prevalent in causing students to seek out counseling is mental illness such as depression and bipolar disorder, with stress being the third most prominent cause. However, majority of the students reported having no issue, but this did not affect the number of visits these students made to St. Liam s. An equal number of students reporting no issue made a different amount of trips to St. Liam s for mental health services, implying that most students are just as likely to use St. Liam s. ... American Literature 9 March 2013 The Struggle for Power in The Yellow Wallpaper, Daddy, and Editha Charlotte Perkins Gilman s piece, The Yellow Wallpaper (written in 1890, published in 1892), is a semi autobiographical piece that, although believed to be a result of her severe postpartum depression, illustrates the difficulties faced by women during the Women s Movement. These difficulties are further illustrated by the similarly semi autobiographical poem, based on Plath s father and husband, Daddy by Sylvia Plath (written in 1962, published in 1965). Pigments are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living things. Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible light. The visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010). Chromatophores are also important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers of the skin in animals. Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores (red), xanthophores (yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the colorof the pigments. The dispersal of these cells and the pigments and their orientation determine the color... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that suffered greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski 2003). Even though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species recognition favor conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more conspicuous organisms suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994; Houde 1997). A limitation of support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation risk is the way conspicuous colors are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of different species of animals vary significantly from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator (Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart 2001b; Marshall 2001). Although it is highly assumed that males are more likely to be preyed upon more frequently than females because of their conspicuous coloration, evidence for this is inconsistent (Andersson 1994; Zuk and Kolluru 1998). Though these generations show drastic variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the Traditionalists. As the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation. Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top managers. The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more matured workforce and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies, which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the campus. This situation has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them work under same policy framework. This research work helps in ... • 24. The Importance of Self-Awareness in Counselling HOW DOES A COUNSELLOR DIFFER FROM A FRIEND? Folashade Oloniyo Abstract In this essay, the characteristics of a counsellor and a friend will be expanded upon in order to gain a greater knowledge for deciphering the two. We all have been in situations where we hit a brick wall in our life and are unsure of the next step or the next move to make. We have close friends to whom we can turn and reach out to, but in some situations, are they really our best option for help? Friends are needed for support on many levels, but on others, professional reinforcement may be of greater good. With that said, I challenge you the reader and ask the questions: What is counselling? As a counsellor, you have an obligation to remain objective and non judgmental at whatever is said to you by your client. I can recall feeling slightly judgmental; I thought to myself that my client/friend was making completely unhealthy and unwise decisions. Her actions were so silly and desperate and completely opposite to how I would have acted. Four control groups were selected with the criteria of sameness in gender, age and place of birth. Findings: The results found a high risk factor in prone and side sleeping in infants 13 to 24 weeks old and that the risk for prone sleeping was higher in girls than it was for boys. Also, the incidence of SIDS was higher in prone and side sleeping positions than supine sleeping position. The incidence of SIDS was found to be greater in infants of low birth weight and that were considered preterm. Among the expanding population, the limit of potatoes was scarce, and in the event of something as serious as the blight, the dependency became higher which led some people to emigrate or starve (O Brien 103). At this time, about forty percent of the entire potato crop was ruined, so the dependency began to grow stronger, and people began to make decisions on what to do because of the overpopulation and scarce food sources (Newsinger 2). The main cause for why Ireland was hit so hard during the spread of the blight was because of the over populated areas in certain parts of Ireland. The Famine in Ireland was based on several circumstances which occurred within the Country. Another cause was the dependency on the potato which resulted from the over population. The SMN protein plays a critical role in spliceosome assembly and may have other cellular functions such as mRNA transport. These mice, a severe model from the Arthur Burghes lab at Ohio State University, are either stillborn or die on average at approximately postnatal day 5 with approximately 40% loss of motor neurons, representing the severe type I SMA phenotype. As is seen in human patients, mice with higher copy numbers (more than eight) of the SMN2 transgene were phenotypically rescued, once again demonstrating that the SMA phenotype could be modified by the number of copies of SMN2 (Monani et al., 2000). A similar strategy was used to generate SMA mice in the Hung Li lab in Taiwan (Hsieh Li et al., 2000). In contrast to Burghes severe model, the Hung Li SMA mice showed a range of phenotypic severity within the same litter, from severe to moderate. Further studies indicated that this variation in phenotypic severity was likely due to hemi or homozygous transmission of the transgenic human SMN2 allele on the background of heterozygous deletion of the Smn1 endogenous allele, thereby producing mice expressing varying copy numbers of the transgene (Gogliotti et al., 2010). Building on the development of the Burghes severe model, mice expressing a SMNпЃ„7 transgene in addition to full length SMN2 were also produced (Smn1 / ;SMN2tg/tg;SMNпЃ„7tg/tg). Introduction of the SMNпЃ„7 allele extended the life span of affected mice from approximately five days to approximately thirteen days (Le et al., 2005) and indicated that SMN produced from the SMN2 locus could be a valid therapeutic target. It is important to clearly identify who is in charge and who is accountable for certain tasks. Several examples of such safe guards are limiting access to cash through the use of safes and pass code protected registers. Security cameras and alarm systems are also effective control measures. Companies also segregate or separate related tasks and assign them to different individuals. This makes it extremely difficult for employees to steal or misuse assets because they cannot completely conceal their activities. For example, where I work, there are over 100 company vehicles. Supervisors assign the vehicles, while employees drive the vehicles, and a separate vehicle management officer (VMO) maintains vehicle usage records.
