High School Years Were The Worst Time For Me
High school years were the worst time for me. I have absolutely no idea how I made it through to
graduation, but I did. My learning style was to cram everything in my mind right before a test because
my mentality was that if I did that I would recall everything. Well, I was wrong. School work has
always been difficult for me because I find it hard to pay attention and do not understand everything I
am being told. I have this learning block that does not allow me to process information until I
understand every thought or action behind it and if I do not comprehend the details then the
information is not retained. That might be a side effect of my traumatic brain injury or it could just be
because of how I was raised or my own personal way of thinking, whatever the case may be, the
disability is tormenting.
Additionally, when I was little my parents and I continuously got into fights about schoolwork. I could
never explain why my grades were as low as they were or why I still needed help with homework
even after they clarified it fifteen times. In middle school it took me four hours to do thirty minutes
worth of homework because I was not retaining what I had learned in class. My dad asked me how it
was possible for me to know every lyric known to mankind but remembering my multiplication tables
was a struggle. Thus, bringing me to the discovery of a learning style known as kinesthetic. Upon this
detection I decided to research what that meant. Astonishingly it is very

Why Is Lymphoma Important
Lymphoma
Ryan Jones
Mr. Reeves
Biology Honors
April 24, 2018
Introduction
Lymphoma is the name of a diverse group of cancers of the lymphatic system, a connecting network
of glands, organs and vessels whose principle cell is the lymphocyte. When lymphoma occurs, cells in
the lymphatic system grow abnormally. They divide too rapidly and grow without any order or
control. Too much tissue is formed and tumors begin to grow. Because there is lymph tissue in many
parts of the body, the cancer cells may involve the liver, spleen, or bone marrow.
There are two general types of lymphoma which are Hodgkin s Lymphoma and Non Hodgkin s
Lymphoma. They are two opposites when it comes to how they act towards the body and how they are

The Future of the Textbook Industry Essay
Merrian Webster defines Publishing as: The business or profession of the commercial production and
issuance of literature, information, musical scores or sometimes recordings, or art. This essay will
review publishing from its beginnings in the 16th century, describe how technology in the 21st century
has disrupted the profession of publishing. This paper will also discuss where we are today and the
trajectory of the industry for the next decade. As publishing itself is a vast universe encompassing
literary books, fiction, non fiction books, newspapers, magazines, journals, periodicals, music, art,
movie scripts, plays, software, blogs, etc. both in print and electronic. This essay will be limited to the

Yet another leap forward came in the 19th century when steam powered printing presses became
popular. These machines could print 1,100 sheets per hour. From the 15th to the 19th century not
much changed except that conditions for freedom of the press were improved. Today, the majority of
books are printed by offset lithography in which an image of the material to be printed is
photographically or digitally transferred to a flexible metal plate . The 21st century has brought
numerous technological changes to the publishing industry. These changes include electronic books
(eBooks), print on demand and accessibly publishing. E books have been quickly growing in
availability since 2002 . Google, Amazon and Sony have been leaders in working with publishers and
libraries to digitize books. According to estimates from Google there are about 130,000,000 unique
books in the world. So far they have scanned and digitized over 12,000,000 that are primarily out of
print or no longer commercially available. Google has publicly stated a goal to scan and digitize all of
them within this decade. This ambitious project was introduced by Google in 2004, at the same time
they announced partnerships with several high profile universities and public libraries including
Harvard, University of Michigan, Stanford, Oxford, and The New York Public Library. Worth noting
is that with the technology Google is using, anyone is able to search this

Compare And Contrast Tornadoes And Hurricanes
Tornadoes V.S. Hurricanes
OMG! Look over there! A hurricane! Hurricane and tornadoes have many, many similarities, but they
have so many differences also. Hurricanes and tornadoes are similar in the ways that they damage and
strike. Tornadoes and hurricanes are distinct in how they form, their wind speeds, and their effects.
Look at that twister! It s moving so fast! What are the differences in a hurricanes and a tornadoes wind
speed, I wander? A tornado and a hurricane have completely different wind speeds! For example, a
tornado can rotate up to 318 mph (miles per hour), if it were to be an ef 5 tornado that is. On the
alternative hand, hurricanes can only travel from 74 mph to 250+ mph at a time. Man, that s fast

Transformation In Oates s Where Is Here
Explanatory essay When I was 10 years old, I walked into a scary apartment with a cemetery in the
back with me brother and his friends. The wind was blowing so hard like someone was giving me a
sign not to go in but I did. When I went in the the apartment there was a sign that said beware in red
colors. My brother and his friends when into a room with burnt doll heads. Then, when we left the
room of the apartment a powerful wind blew in and we heard a door shut and glass break. At that
point, me my brother and his friends bolted out of the room, out of the apartment and into the car. The
next day me and my brother went to a religious area to not be scared anymore. My day transformed
good to scary in a matter of a snap. Transformation can create fear. Transformation can be seen in
these three stories as well. Oates s Where is Here, Arthur Tress Dream Collector and Julio Cortazar s

The pearl, a great fortune, is perfect as the moon... as large as a sea gull s egg (19). Kino, a poor man,

Pearl, John Steinbeck uses the pearl and Kino as symbols, both representing good and evil, to tell us
what would happen when Kino and the pearl meet how great fortune can become evil and destroy a

The Number Three In Dante s Inferno
Symbolism can be utilized in diverse manners but remains a prominent aspect of life within most
religions throughout the world. Out of ample differential symbolic numbers, Dante showcases the
number three throughout the allegorical tale of his journey through hell. Dante bases Inferno upon the
Christian idea of hell by using the religiously symbolic number three within his choice of poetic
structure, the monsters displayed, and the associations of the number three in the Bible.
Dante s poetic masterpiece The Divine Comedy is composed of three individual cĂĄntica: Inferno,
Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The three works include 33 cantos in each poem, with the exception of
Inferno, totaling 100 cantos, which is the square of 10; 10 is the perfect number, for it is composed
solely of the square of the Trinity plus 1, which represents the Unity of God. (McAllister xxii). The
rhyme scheme of the 100 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three beasts face against Dante within the beginning of the narrative poem: The Leopard, The Lion,
and The She Wolf of Incontinence. Alongside to meeting the three animals, Dante also metaphorically
encounters the three main kinds of sin committed within the Christian world: Incontinence, violence
and fraud. Each sin corresponds according to a sin in the Bible and matches with each of the three
beasts. Once Dante follows away from the three monsters and towards a pathway through hell, he
encounters a ravenous three headed dog of Hell who characterizes as monstrous Cerebus, the ravening
beast (Alighieri 44 45). Dante s usage of the number three within his choice of monsters furthermore
portrays the reoccurring usage of the number in Inferno. In addition, Dante encounters Satan whom
has three faces, each of different color. Each monster encountered by Dante within the narrative poem
Inferno symbolically displays the number three which moreover connects the number to the Christian

Rebirth In Hinduism
When the charioteer of Prince Arjuna, Krishna (who is an avatar of the god Vishnu), tries to convince
the prince to fight against his own relatives, he invokes some of the core concepts of Hinduism, such
as karma, dharma, samsara, and brahman.
The avatar Krishna brought up Hindu concept of atman saying, the Eternal [atman] in man cannot die .
Hindus believe in brahman, the essence of life. The brahman in humans is the soul, or atman. As
opposed to the human body, the atman is eternal. The ultimate goal in Hinduism is to achieve moksha,
or reunion with brahman. But it takes multiple lifetimes to achieve moksha, so Hindus believe in
samsara, or rebirth. After the physical death of the human body, the atman then takes another form and
Krishna reminds Arjuna of this by saying, As...our mortal body wanders on in ... Show more content

A person has a higher chance of being united with brahman if they build up good karma throughout
their lifetime. In order to build up good karma, one must fulfill his or her dharma. Krishna repeatedly
invokes this concept of dharma. Karma is a person s actions which, if used to fulfill their dharma, lead
to good karma. Good karma results in the person s atman being reincarnated in a higher being, and so
is therefore closer to achieving the ultimate goal of moksha, or reunion with the divine. Since Prince
Arjuna is a warrior, his duty is to fight. Krishna invokes this by saying Think thou of thy duty and do
not waver. Not fulfilling one s dharma means that person will get bad karma, and therefore be farther
away from achieving the Hindu goal of moksha. Since Arjuna s duty is to fight, him not fighting, even
if it means killing his own relatives, is him not fulfilling his dharma.

Managing Pain During The Acute Care Setting
Everyone experiences pain differently, its etiology, source, and type of pain is unique to each patient.
Pain is defined as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon that originates from sensory stimuli,
which has obvious motivation affective properties, demands attention, disrupts thought and behavior
and results in activity aimed to stop the pain (Blanchard, 2010). Managing pain in the acute care
setting has become one of the greatest challenges nurses and healthcare providers face.
Unsatisfactorily managed pain can contribute to several adverse outcomes for hospitalized patients
including reduced mobility, stimulation of unhealthy stress response, infection, creates barriers, and
additional complications. As pain treatment becomes more aggressive, so too does our attention to
reassessment of pain after intervention to ensure both safe and effective pain management (Gordon,
2014).
In 1992, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research provided guidelines for the management of
acute postoperative pain. The goals of the pain management guidelines are to reduce pain,
complications, and length of hospital stay, to educate patients in communicating unrelieved pain; and
to enhance patient satisfaction with pain management practices (Good, 1998). From these guidelines,
Marion Good, PhD, RN, helped develop a middle range theory for Acute Pain Management for adults
who can learn, set goals, and communicate symptoms. The theory does not pertain to individuals such

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom was a film directed by Justin
Chadwick about the life of Nelson Mandela and a revolution he led Anti Apartheid Movement. The
movie was released on November 28, 2013, a week before Mandela s death . It was based on Mandela
s autobiography Long Walk to Freedom . The film includes many factual incidents which took place in
South Africa during that time period. The movie shows most of the trivial details and the oppressed
people s suffering. Overall, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom is a movie that accurately depicts the
events that occurred at the time.

also many people around the world. Many people including Mandela had went through a lot of pain
and misery in order to end the Apartheid. His struggle did not go without change, Mandela describes
his journey as a Long Walk to Freedom, which shows that even though it was long, he still got to
where he wanted to be after all. He finally accomplished his purpose and goal in life. I chose this
movie because I remember how many people were affected by his death and saw him on the news a
lot for a while, but I never knew why he was such a respected man. I knew about the Apartheid, but I
did not know what role he played in it. After viewing the movie and seeing the obstacles he overcame
and the hardship he endured, I was able to understand why so many people looked up to him. Mandela
s story should be something people are educated about because he played a significant part in
changing history and making the world a better place by spreading peace and creating an equal

The dictator at that time was Bernado O Higgins, and he laid down the foundation of the modern state
with a two party system and centralized government. To extend the Chilean territory the dictator
Diego Portales fought in a war with Peru from 1836 to 1839, three years long. They adopted a new

Refugees In Camps During The Refugee Crisis
During the refugee crisis there was some international governmental and non governmental aid for the
refugees in the country still those 350 000 400 000 (vidi pogore) were enormous burden for
Macedonian economy. That was third reason for accommodating refugees in camps instead
incorporating them in the society. Their potential influence on Macedonians economy and establishing
refugees camps can be observed thru the possible impact on local and national economy. Because
these two factors are very closely connected they will be elaborated and overviewed simultaneously.
Refugees escaping from ethnic cleansing were arriving in Macedonia only with few necessities, and
were relaying on Aid from host nation. In that time the biggest economy issue for Macedonian
government was unemployment, statistic said that around 32% of the population was unemployed, or
around 350 000 people. So people in order to survive were working on black market, and without
insurance. At some level that was tolerated from the government because it was providing existence
for people and social peace in the country. Black market and working without insurance had a big
influence for local and national economy. Major concern for government if refugees were
incorporated into the society was that these 350 000 400 000 refugees, in conditions of no income was
more than possible that they would seek for job in the country on black market. Also around 50 000 60

A Study On Polycystic Kidney Disease ( Pkd )
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder primarily affecting the kidneys. It is
characterized by growth of numerous cysts on the kidneys (McPhee, Papadakis Rabow, 2014). The
kidneys primary job is to filter the waste products from the blood into urine and ultimately out of the
body. The cysts are primarily fluid filled and when they become enlarged, they interfere the normal
functioning of the kidneys, leading to enlarged kidney (McPhee et al., 2014). When the enlarged
kidney stops properly functioning leading kidney failure. It may take years before the kidneys totally
loose function and then require dialysis, which is in only about half of the patients diagnosed with
PKD. According to National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearing House (NKUDIC)
(2007), mutations in genes PKD1, PKD2 and PKHD1 cause polycystic kidney disease. Defects in the
formation of epithelial cells and their cilium result in cyst formation and obstruction that is followed
by destruction of renal parenchyma, interstitial fibrosis, and loss of functional nephrons (McCance,
Heuther, Brasher, 2014). The renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular organs are the
most common systems affected by PKD (McPhee et al., 2014).
There are two major inherited forms of PKD. One is autosomal dominant PKD and the other is
autosomal recessive PKD. According to National Human Genomic Research Institute (2013),
autosomal dominant is the most common form of inheritance. To

Essay Causes Of The War Of 1812
Causes of the War of 1812 The War of 1812 was fought between the United States and Great Britain
from June 1812 to the spring of 1815 (Findling, 15). When the war began, it was being fought by the
Americans to address their grievances toward the British, though toward the end, the issues eventually
were unjustified and reasons manipulated. There is no single cause for the War of 1812 but instead,
several related causes, such the influence of the War Hawks, the impressments as well as the Embargo

The Hawks were confident that Britain would yield to US demands if it saw America considering
military battle. Any way, Britain was already involved with the Napoleonic Wars in Europe, thus being
short on money and men. Ultimately, the War Hawks convinced majority of congress to vote in favor
of this Second Struggle for Liberty . Though a few rebellious congressmen fought over little details,
everyone agreed that it wasn t realistic to expect a peaceful and diplomatic conclusion to the constant
divergence with Britain. In the early 19th century, Britain and France were engaged in a life or death
struggle. After much war through the years, France dominated a lot of Europe, though Britain was the
ruler of the seas. When it became obvious that neither side was likely to win a decisive military
contest, the warring nations turned to commercial warfare: Britain tried to blockade all of Europe, and
France attempted to prevent the sale of British goods in their
possession(http://gatewayno.com/history/War1812.html, War of 1812). During the 1790s, French and
British maritime policies produced several crises with the United States, but after 1803 the difficulties
became much more serious. In November of 1807, Britain issued a trade regulation called an Order in
Council, which compelled all neutral ships to either call at British ports or be subject to a search by
British authorities. A month later, Napoleon decreed

Political Science Of Political Sabotage Or Dirty Plans Essay
Ratf**ked is a term used in political science to describe political sabotage or dirty plans. David Daley,
in his book of the same name, describes Republicans incentives in 2010 to take control of state
legislatures and control congressional redistricting processes. Republicans were then able to take
redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The
Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the
Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina
and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election.
Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to
help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid
term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to
control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski
had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the
legislature. His REDMAP team would create priority lists of swing states, to state houses, and finally
to state senates that they had to win. Republicans focused their time and energy on areas that they
believed that they could swing red or keep red by calling, sending mail, billboards,

Aegis Amber Robertson Summary
Robertson, Amber. Women s Agency as Represented in Various Works of Medieval Literature. Aegis:
Otterbein Humanities Journal, vol. 10, 2005.
Robertson discusses the representation of women in the Lais of de France and how they were
constructed around the feudal society and were meant to represent the female agency. Robertson goes
on to explain the feudal society and how it is a social ladder where everyone gets their opinions from
who is on the very top this being the Church and the aristocracy (Robertson 68). Robertson makes the
point that these are two facets that are least acquainted with women. Robertson notes that medieval
people also elevated the status of women at the same time as decimating it. Women ladies were
compared to the Virgin Mary, who represents all things a woman should be: chaste, delicate, beautiful,
modest, and so on. Marie de France wrote her lais so they could be enjoyed by both men and women,
but she did explore the gender inequalities that existed in her time and still exist today!
This source compares to another one I have mentioned. Both Amber Robertson and Elizabeth
Robertson reference Greek philosophy and the view that women were considered inferior because of
the bodies they exist in. The male form was the finer one, women s bodies ... Show more content on

Change the American Philosophy on Consumerism and the...
The best solution to the mortgage crisis America is facing today is both easy . . . and difficult to
execute. The solution is two pronged: change the American philosophy on consumerism and debt
while also making concrete changes in the way the lending industry works. Both demand taking a long
term view in order to be successful.
A New Philosophy
Changing one s philosophy is easy, but putting it into practice on a daily basis is not. One needs to

As with any business, the savviest professionals are those who are truly educated in their field, and in
the case of sales, their products. Not only did banks offer exotic loans that were generally not
sagacious for most Americans, but individual salespeople didn t necessarily understand their products
(let alone buyers) which made for a risky combination that led to the current crisis. People signed on
the dotted line without understanding what they were committing to, and those employed to guide
them through the process were no more versed in the products themselves. Enforcing more stringent
certification requirements for individual loan officers would help salespeople to better understand their
products, making them more capable of guiding clients into the best fit loans. Finally, in addition to
increasing the level of training required for loan officers, it would be beneficial for borrowers to
demonstrate a certain level of understanding of what they are committing to. The costs of owning a
home are more complicated than a mortgage alone; with the purchase of a mortgage comes the
commitment to pay taxes, home owner s association fees and other hidden costs, not to mention the
fact that a person with a mortgage can get a home equity line of credit. Education programs that could

New Heritage Doll Company Capital Budgeting Analysis The New Heritage Doll Company is a
company that makes dolls for children between the ages 3 12 years. The company has revenues of 245

Retailing division, the Licensing division and the Production division. The head of the production
division has to choose between two capital intensive projects that have been presented to her the Make

In deciding which product to approve, the production head could use historical data pertaining to
customer buying habits to see if their buying habits change when a new product line is launched.
Therefore, choosing MMDCE from a strategic stand point seems to be a better option. Issue 3: NPV
Analysis Since DYOD is a brand new product line for the company, the inherent risks involved in its
successful launch are higher than MMDCE, since it is merely an extension of an existing line of
products. Therefore, in order to do an NPV analysis, the division head could use a discount rate of
8.4% for the MMDCE and 9% for the DYOD product lines respectively. An NPV analysis suggests
that investment in the MMDCE product line is a more profitable proposition compared to the DYOD
product line since the NPV of the DYOD product line is negative ( 2,434,000). Since we reject
projects with negative NPVs, MMDCE seems to be an obvious choice. The following table below

The Carnegie Museum Of Art
Project 1: The Carnegie Museum
The Carnegie Museum of Art was a museum created to focus on the art of tomorrow rather than
already popular art and artists of today. A necessary part for that dream of Andrew Carnegie to become
a reality is having a place to house these art pieces. While of course he could have just found an empty
warehouse and placed all the art there that would neither have given the pieces of art justice nor would
anyone want there personal collection to be placed on display there. Instead, in order to have a
successful art museum you have to house the art in a place that does it justice. Museums heavily rely
on their architecture to accurately portray and supplement the showpieces within the museum.

(See Diagram 1) Going from the intense darkness of the walls and tile in the space beforehand to the
bright and engagingly light room once you open the door is a very intense chance. It creates an
awakening of excitement and alertness in your journey throughout the gallery. While this transition is
nice in this aspect that it awakens you to the art its not the most desirable simply because it is rather
drastic and can be a little to much to handle for those with sensitive eyes that need to wait to adjust
completely to the new lighting intensity. When you step out of this room to the photography room on
the right your feelings within the surrounding change once again. In the first room of the museum the
tile is white and thus reflects light, creating yet more light in the surrounding area. The walls go from
light and colorful shades to a medium tinted of gray creating a more plain mood within the room. In
the side room full of photography the flooring changes from white large stone tiles to wood panel
flooring. The opening to this second room is an opening the wall rather than another doorway but
instead of the opening stretching all the way up to the ceiling, there is a thinner horizontal plank at the
top that is an almost metallically aluminum color. The space is divided up

from iPSC s.
Simplified title
Improvement of stem cell differentiation to pancreatic β cell for transplantation into diabetics.
2) Project summary
Ethical concerns regarding the use of embryo derived embryonic stem cells (ES), and the immune
response elicited by differentiated ES cells, are being circumvented by using induced pluripotential
stem cells (iPSCs) derived from patients somatic cells. These can be differentiated into other cell types
including pancreatic  cells for diabetics. Unfortunately aspects of iPSC DNA regulation of
differentiation impair the production of cells for transplant. Understanding the role of micro RNAs in
iPSC differentiation could improve the therapeutic application of iPSCs.

Economic Hit Man By John Perkins was written in 2004, which reflects the increasing realization of
the corporate power of Halliburton and other transnational organizations that were destroying third
world nations, such as Iraq, during the Bush Administration. Of course, Perkins (2004) had worked
with Halliburton through his previous NSA connections in the U.S. intelligence services. In this
manner, Perkins (2004) defines the underlying economic motives of the Bush Administration to

The Poverty Cycle Of Homeless Children
education, despite income level, students have a higher chance of continuing and ending their poverty
cycle.
Homelessness
Poverty affects more than a child s education, it also impacts where that child might sleep at night.
During the 2009 2010 school year, 939,903 homeless children and youth were enrolled in public
schools, a 38% increase from the 2006 2007 school year ( Effects of Poverty... 2). These numbers
include grade K 12, so additional younger children may not be accounted for. In 2010 more than 1.6
million children (1 in 45 children) in America were homeless and that approximately 650,000 are
below age 6 ( Effects of Poverty... 2). Homeless children, whether that be bouncing from home to
home or living on the streets, may have a reduced quality of life.. According to Jeff Koistsky, the
executive director of Hamilton Family Center:
Homelessness has a devastating impact on children. No access to places for homework, no places to
feel safe, and they don t even have a pillow or bed to lie down on. They can t even have a good night s
rest. It overall has a terrible impact on their academic and social development. (youtube video)
When children are in unstable environments, they begin to miss opportunities, such as potential jobs
or educational chances. This will delay a child developmentally, and often lead the children to
dropping out of school and becoming involved with the negative aspects of life. Children may be
exposed to or become enmeshed with violent and

The Age of Enlightment
In Europe in the early 17th century, Christianity was the dominant religion. Most countries believed
that it was the only acceptable one, and that there should not be any toleration for other religions. In
many countries, the monarchs (or the other rulers) would enforce Christianity and persecute people
with other beliefs. Some of these beliefs, however, changed during the Age of Enlightenment from the
late 1600 s to the mid 1700 s. The philosophers during the Age of Enlightenment influenced peoples
way of thinking through their ideas of reason, empiricism, and the power of nature. The ideas that the
philosophers had eliminated the stranglehold that religion had on the people and the government.
Through the heavy influence of John Locke, Isaac Newton, and other philosophers, alternative
religions, mainly deism, emerged, which changed how people viewed themselves and their
relationship to government. Through their discoveries and theories, the philosophers during the Age of
Enlightenment greatly affected the way that people viewed themselves. Isaac Newton was the first of
these philosophers to alter the views of the people of the time. Newton believed that the key to
discovery was trial and error. He believed that no one should firmly believe in anything unless it was
distinctly proven. This idea is known as empiricism. Along with these views, he also believed that
there was a scientific and mathematical reason for everything on earth. Rather than God being the only

Notes On The Committee Kenya African Union Essay
Prospectus of Defeating Mau Mau Religion
In 1954 Louis (Seymour Bazett) Leakey wrote Defeating Mau Mau an examination of the Mau Mau,
and how the organization works from initiation to infrastructure, and the fact that Mau Mau is losing
as a political movement aimed to drive out the white man and win self government. After the
construction of the Lunatic Express British colonization of Kenya skyrocketed, causing a division
between white, well capitalized ranches Vs. small scale farmers. Tension between blacks and white
grew due to the uneasy equilibrium, causing motivation for uneducated, poor, landless kenyans to
fight the colonialist. Jomo Kenyatta help forum Kenya African Union (K.A.U.), the first effort to
create a colony wide African political organization which turned into the Kikuyu Central Association
(K.C.A.), which led to the freedom fighters known as Mau Mau rebellions who fought the colonialist.
The Mau Mau Emergency ends in defeat by the British Loyalist with brutal concentration camps.
Leakey includes seven goals the Mau Mau aimed to achieve, one of the goals being to destroy
christianity. Leakey describes various methods of propaganda, one of the most effect vises being
subliminal hymns. Hymns would contain catchy melodies, with lyrics that would prepare Kikuyu
people to take the Mau Mau oath. Within the context, Leakey repeatedly identifies religion as the
primary reason for Mau Mau popularity(expansion?) in the Kikuyu community.

Susan B Anthony Achievements
Susan Brownell Anthony was a fierce and powerful woman who was very determined to fight for
equal rights. Her speeches and enthusiasm captured the attention of many, and this was important
because she influenced the government to finally pass the 19th amendment which gave women
suffrage in 1920. She powered through all the obstacles that were imposed on her. Later, her name
went down in history.
On February 15, 1820 in Adams Massachusetts, Susan B. Anthony was born into a large Quaker
family consisting of her mother, father, four sisters and two brothers; she was the second oldest of
them all. Most Quakers along with her father, Daniel, believed that girls and women deserved an
education, so Susan and her four sisters accompanied their brothers ... Show more content on

Many of them happened when she made her speeches. She wore bloomers, pants that symbolized
women s rights, to all of them. However, she stopped because nobody would listen to her. She even
made her speeches in the freezing cold, or possibly being pelted with food and snow. But even though
her speeches helped the cause, the male africans getting suffrage in 1866 didn t. Though it was a good
thing, Susan protested that it was unfair for africans to get suffrage but not women, which made the
male abolitionists, whom she was acquainted with, turn on her because they thought she only was
focused on women s rights. After this, she decided she would vote illegally. In 1872, she went to vote.
They let her after she showed them a copy of the fourteenth amendment, which allowed citizens to
vote. Three weeks later, Susan was unfairly arrested and the amendment was changed from allowing
citizens to vote, to allowing male citizens to vote; this angered her very much. Many years later, Susan
started a campaign for women s suffrage. She was going to win until a liquor company said it would
ruin business. To make matters worse, Elizabeth Cady Stanton passed away in 1902. At her small
funeral, she asked for a single picture to be placed on her casket. A picture of her best partner and
friend, Susan B. Anthony, lay there. Clearly, Susan faced some very rough

World War I ( 1914-1918 )
World War I (1914 1918) was the first war to involve almost all of Europe; Austria Hungary, France,
Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Russia all participated. The war wiped out a significant amount of
the young generation and changed politics, economics and public opinion in Europe for decades to
come. While many countries had a role in the war s outbreak, Germany probably bore the greatest
responsibility due to three factors. The Germans had pushed for war since the founding of the modern
German state. Germany had poor relationships with many of the countries that surrounded them.
Finally, Kaiser Wilhelm II, the head of Germany, and his government made numerous diplomatic
errors in months that led up to the outbreak of the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
German militarism and German nationalism led to a strong desire for war. German people wanted a
large and strong army, and they not only respected their soldiers; they worshipped them. They
believed in the importance of being and appearing strong. Barbara Tuchman in her book, The Guns of
August, notes that unlike President Theodore Roosevelt, who believed that a person should speak
softly and carry a big stick , the Germans believed that a person should speak loudly and brandish a
big gun. This motto indicated the German belief in not only being strong, but also looking strong. The
Germans also believed that war was ennobling. As the German writer Thomas Mann wrote, [War is] a
purification, a liberation, an enormous hope. The victory of Germany will be a victory of soul over
numbers. German officials believed that an effective way to impress Europe was through threats and a
show of power. They wanted to win a war and humble Russia; crush Great Britain and deprive the
British of their navy, India, and Egypt; to make France pay indemnity; force Belgium to yield its
seacoast; and punish Japan.
The German people had deep nationalistic views about their country. They believed that Germany was
the top country and that all other countries should recognize it. The Germans felt as though they were
the most educated and progressive people and as such they would enlighten the world. Many

Summary
In the well written article Stubborn Skills Gap in America s Work Force, the author Eduardo Porter
describes how fictitious the idea of workers in America really is. When asking President Obama which
country develops and breads the most skilled work force he said hands down the United States.
Obama s direct words about the work force were more productive than any on earth and they build
better products than anybody else. Even the less boisterous Republicans were sure American workers
could surpass any competition on any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Americans skills are still in the same place and have not gotten stronger or shown any sign
of trying to improve. The demand for better education and stronger skilled applicants is constantly
growing in all advanced nations, but the supply for this demand is not coming from the United States.
Regardless of the lack of supply provided by America, their highly skilled workers who do exist earn a
much larger wage premium than unskilled workers in all other advanced nations. To summarize today
s economy; the American labor market is good at attracting talented foreigners, offering them more
money than they make elsewhere. This is not the way to improve the education and skill level of
workers in America but it s a solution for companies to sustain their business process and continue to
generate revenue. If they can hire 3 people from another country for the same salary as one American,
it makes sense from a business standpoint to be more productive for less money. The United States
was the first country to provide for universal high school education but now 1 in every 5 high school
students leave without a diploma. Across the board America is below other nations as far as education
and development in the work place, not only are there minimal qualified applicants for jobs but when
they do get hired

Existentialism in Art
Existentialism is highly regarded when it comes to artists and artwork. Sartre is a well known
prominent advocate in the post war period. Sartre wrote essays about artists work which helped
viewers translate philosophy into visual art and by doing this viewers are able to understand the
reasons behind the artwork and along with the understanding comes a deeper appreciation for the art.
If man is unexplainable it is because we make ourselves so if he is indefinable it is because at first he
is nothing (Sartre) he must create who he will be.( www.theartstory.org) Sartre spoke these words to
the artwork of the post war period. Jean Dubuffet and Wols art work is able to address the coexistence
of mind and body on which humans need. Ponty believes that art does not have to be perfect and
symmetrical its science does not have to be exact as long as it captures the eye of the observers than it
has done its job correctly. Existentialism in art is for the artist to be completely free with every stroke
of the hand. The art of the artist is dependent on the time and place in which the artist is born.
Following the first and second World Wars, the decades of fighting and relentless political turmoil it
comes as no surprise that a philosophy that invokes man, the individual s existence at its core had such
an extensive following. This is why existentialist art flourishes after times of war because people want
to express their feeling of freedom and the importance of the individual.

Harold And Maude Essay
Films are almost always centred around people, or aliens or animals with human like qualities. The
purpose of film is storytelling, and the best of storytellers allow their listeners to see the world in a
different way, to put themselves into the shoes of a character in the story, to insert themselves where
they see fit. Harold and Maude is no different. Despite its age, the 1971 cult classic Harold and Maude
reaches out for that part of us that we all know is a little odd, that part of us that we want to hide but at
the same time know needs to be addressed for the uniqueness of our personal selves. What s most
interesting about the film is how it documents transitions between characters, not just through the plot
but through the cinematography ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Across different cultures, different colours represent different things. Because of how American this
movie is, Harold and Maude take on a north American colour scheme when trying to represent ideas
on screen. At the beginning of the movie, dominant colours are black and white, representing
simplicity and death. For the first 30 minutes of the film, there is barley a hint of any bright colour to
be seen, aside from the white walls of Harold s psychiatrist s office. Here, black is the obvious symbol
of death which encompasses the main points of the movie and becomes easily associated with Harold,
the boy obsessed with death (the white, instead of representing purity in its traditional sense, can
represent sanitization or a sort of cleansing that his psychiatrist is trying to impose upon Harold).
Clothing wise, Maude s outfits are either stand out colours like those she wears to funerals, or earthy
tones, which could have been forth with the intention that Maude is one with the earth, as her
character is routinely trying to help the planet, for example when she would protest in her youth and in
the moving of the tree from the city to a forest. Of course, because of Maude, Harold abandons his
darkened suits and ties and adopts a more youthful, colourful wardrobe, his clothes reflect him coming
back to life so to

The Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Teens
It takes a village to raise a child, or at least it was once believed to. It seems each year parents are
getting younger in age, and the birth rate is rising higher. Mississippi has the highest birth rates in teen
pregnancy, and has held this title for the past few years. This problem has had such a rise to fame
because this is a problem that can be prevented. Parents and communities should take action to help
lower the teen pregnancy birth rate in Mississippi. Since the birth rate in teens is so high that means
there is more need of government assistance. This becomes such a problem in states because with
more government assistance come more money, and in states like Mississippi, who is ranked as one of
the poorest states in America, this falls back on everyone. Even though the birth rate has gotten out of
control, teen pregnancy is 100% preventable. With the right knowledge and explanations this problem
could be incredibly reduced. Teen pregnancy becomes an even larger problem because not only does it
affect the families involved, but it affects the economy. According to Newswire PR, Mississippi has
seen a 36% decline in the teen birth rate between 1991 and 2010. (PR). Also it has been said that teen
pregnancy could also cause higher rates with incarceration and child welfare, which are the main
concerns from the government (PR). For the past few years many have tried to come up with solutions
for teen pregnancy rates. One that comes across the board for years is

Suicide Causes, Etiologies, And Prevention Strategies
Suicide causes, etiologies, and prevention strategies were examined in Mesa county of western
Colorado. The highest population at risk for completion of suicide within Mesa county and that of the
national average were found to be White males between the ages of 36 54 years of age. Risk factors of
suicide and demographics of this population were assessed and compared to the efficacy of current
suicide programs utilized within Mesa county. Data was then compared from Mesa county s
demographics, suicide rates, and prevention programs to current literature and the District of
Columbia, which hosts the lowest suicide rate in the country. The juxtaposition of current literature
and the District of Columbia s suicide prevention programs to Mesa county s current suicide
prevention program were made to identify the efficacy and areas of improvement needed to further
reduce suicide rates.
Suicide in Mesa County Suicide rates within the United States continue to rise at a steady rate. Within
the past several years, the suicide rate has steadily increased to 12.6 suicide deaths per 100,000
people, which comes to more than 41,000 deaths per year (Bower, 2016). Fleischmann et al. (2016)
found that despite preconceptions, suicide occurs in approximately 75% of lower to middle class

  • 2. High School Years Were The Worst Time For Me High school years were the worst time for me. I have absolutely no idea how I made it through to graduation, but I did. My learning style was to cram everything in my mind right before a test because my mentality was that if I did that I would recall everything. Well, I was wrong. School work has always been difficult for me because I find it hard to pay attention and do not understand everything I am being told. I have this learning block that does not allow me to process information until I understand every thought or action behind it and if I do not comprehend the details then the information is not retained. That might be a side effect of my traumatic brain injury or it could just be because of how I was raised or my own personal way of thinking, whatever the case may be, the disability is tormenting. Additionally, when I was little my parents and I continuously got into fights about schoolwork. I could never explain why my grades were as low as they were or why I still needed help with homework even after they clarified it fifteen times. In middle school it took me four hours to do thirty minutes worth of homework because I was not retaining what I had learned in class. My dad asked me how it was possible for me to know every lyric known to mankind but remembering my multiplication tables was a struggle. Thus, bringing me to the discovery of a learning style known as kinesthetic. Upon this detection I decided to research what that meant. Astonishingly it is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Rebirth In Hinduism When the charioteer of Prince Arjuna, Krishna (who is an avatar of the god Vishnu), tries to convince the prince to fight against his own relatives, he invokes some of the core concepts of Hinduism, such as karma, dharma, samsara, and brahman. The avatar Krishna brought up Hindu concept of atman saying, the Eternal [atman] in man cannot die . Hindus believe in brahman, the essence of life. The brahman in humans is the soul, or atman. As opposed to the human body, the atman is eternal. The ultimate goal in Hinduism is to achieve moksha, or reunion with brahman. But it takes multiple lifetimes to achieve moksha, so Hindus believe in samsara, or rebirth. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A person has a higher chance of being united with brahman if they build up good karma throughout their lifetime. In order to build up good karma, one must fulfill his or her dharma. Krishna repeatedly invokes this concept of dharma. Karma is a person s actions which, if used to fulfill their dharma, lead to good karma. Good karma results in the person s atman being reincarnated in a higher being, and so is therefore closer to achieving the ultimate goal of moksha, or reunion with the divine. Since Prince Arjuna is a warrior, his duty is to fight. Krishna invokes this by saying Think thou of thy duty and do not waver. Not fulfilling one s dharma means that person will get bad karma, and therefore be farther away from achieving the Hindu goal of moksha. Since Arjuna s duty is to fight, him not fighting, even if it means killing his own relatives, is him not fulfilling his dharma. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pain is defined as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon that originates from sensory stimuli, which has obvious motivation affective properties, demands attention, disrupts thought and behavior and results in activity aimed to stop the pain (Blanchard, 2010). Managing pain in the acute care setting has become one of the greatest challenges nurses and healthcare providers face. Unsatisfactorily managed pain can contribute to several adverse outcomes for hospitalized patients including reduced mobility, stimulation of unhealthy stress response, infection, creates barriers, and additional complications. As pain treatment becomes more aggressive, so too does our attention to reassessment of pain after intervention to ensure both safe and effective pain management (Gordon, 2014). In 1992, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research provided guidelines for the management of acute postoperative pain. The goals of the pain management guidelines are to reduce pain, complications, and length of hospital stay, to educate patients in communicating unrelieved pain; and to enhance patient satisfaction with pain management practices (Good, 1998). He finally accomplished his purpose and goal in life. I chose this movie because I remember how many people were affected by his death and saw him on the news a lot for a while, but I never knew why he was such a respected man. I knew about the Apartheid, but I did not know what role he played in it. After viewing the movie and seeing the obstacles he overcame and the hardship he endured, I was able to understand why so many people looked up to him. Refugees In Camps During The Refugee Crisis During the refugee crisis there was some international governmental and non governmental aid for the refugees in the country still those 350 000 400 000 (vidi pogore) were enormous burden for Macedonian economy. That was third reason for accommodating refugees in camps instead incorporating them in the society. Their potential influence on Macedonians economy and establishing refugees camps can be observed thru the possible impact on local and national economy. Because these two factors are very closely connected they will be elaborated and overviewed simultaneously. Refugees escaping from ethnic cleansing were arriving in Macedonia only with few necessities, and were relaying on Aid from host nation. In that time the biggest economy issue for Macedonian government was unemployment, statistic said that around 32% of the population was unemployed, or around 350 000 people. So people in order to survive were working on black market, and without insurance. At some level that was tolerated from the government because it was providing existence for people and social peace in the country. Black market and working without insurance had a big influence for local and national economy. Major concern for government if refugees were incorporated into the society was that these 350 000 400 000 refugees, in conditions of no income was more than possible that they would seek for job in the country on black market. • 17. A Study On Polycystic Kidney Disease ( Pkd ) Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder primarily affecting the kidneys. It is characterized by growth of numerous cysts on the kidneys (McPhee, Papadakis Rabow, 2014). The kidneys primary job is to filter the waste products from the blood into urine and ultimately out of the body. The cysts are primarily fluid filled and when they become enlarged, they interfere the normal functioning of the kidneys, leading to enlarged kidney (McPhee et al., 2014). When the enlarged kidney stops properly functioning leading kidney failure. It may take years before the kidneys totally loose function and then require dialysis, which is in only about half of the patients diagnosed with PKD. According to National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearing House (NKUDIC) (2007), mutations in genes PKD1, PKD2 and PKHD1 cause polycystic kidney disease. Defects in the formation of epithelial cells and their cilium result in cyst formation and obstruction that is followed by destruction of renal parenchyma, interstitial fibrosis, and loss of functional nephrons (McCance, Heuther, Brasher, 2014). The renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular organs are the most common systems affected by PKD (McPhee et al., 2014). There are two major inherited forms of PKD. One is autosomal dominant PKD and the other is autosomal recessive PKD. According to National Human Genomic Research Institute (2013), autosomal dominant is the most common form of inheritance. There is no single cause for the War of 1812 but instead, several related causes, such the influence of the War Hawks, the impressments as well as the Embargo and Non Intercourse acts, and the British s possible interference with the Indian Nations, and land ownership disputes between the Natives and Americans, ultimately leading to the Battle of Tippecanoe. Though a few rebellious congressmen fought over little details, everyone agreed that it wasn t realistic to expect a peaceful and diplomatic conclusion to the constant divergence with Britain. In the early 19th century, Britain and France were engaged in a life or death struggle. After much war through the years, France dominated a lot of Europe, though Britain was the ruler of the seas. When it became obvious that neither side was likely to win a decisive military contest, the warring nations turned to commercial warfare: Britain tried to blockade all of Europe, and France attempted to prevent the sale of British goods in their possession(http://gatewayno.com/history/War1812.html, War of 1812). Republicans were then able to take redistrict in favor of a republican controlled congress being elected. This plan was entitled The Redistricting Majority Project or REDMAP (Daley 2016). After the 2008 election, the future of the Republican Party looked grim. Obama took Republican strongholds like Virginia and North Carolina and Democrats took control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate during the election. Chris Jankowski, a member of the Republican State Leadership Committee, came up with a plan to help the Republicans gain control of the state legislatures. He realized the importance of the 2010 mid term elections with the upcoming census, whichever party controlled the state legislatures got to control the redistricting process for congressional districts in 42 of 50 states (Daley 2016). Jankowski had $30 million dollars to invest in states that Republicans could control both governors office and the legislature. Robertson goes on to explain the feudal society and how it is a social ladder where everyone gets their opinions from who is on the very top this being the Church and the aristocracy (Robertson 68). Robertson makes the point that these are two facets that are least acquainted with women. Robertson notes that medieval people also elevated the status of women at the same time as decimating it. Women ladies were compared to the Virgin Mary, who represents all things a woman should be: chaste, delicate, beautiful, modest, and so on. This is why existentialist art flourishes after times of war because people want to express their feeling of freedom and the importance of the individual. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Harold And Maude Essay Films are almost always centred around people, or aliens or animals with human like qualities. The purpose of film is storytelling, and the best of storytellers allow their listeners to see the world in a different way, to put themselves into the shoes of a character in the story, to insert themselves where they see fit. Harold and Maude is no different. Despite its age, the 1971 cult classic Harold and Maude reaches out for that part of us that we all know is a little odd, that part of us that we want to hide but at the same time know needs to be addressed for the uniqueness of our personal selves. What s most interesting about the film is how it documents transitions between characters, not just through the plot but through the cinematography ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Across different cultures, different colours represent different things. Because of how American this movie is, Harold and Maude take on a north American colour scheme when trying to represent ideas on screen. At the beginning of the movie, dominant colours are black and white, representing simplicity and death. For the first 30 minutes of the film, there is barley a hint of any bright colour to be seen, aside from the white walls of Harold s psychiatrist s office. Here, black is the obvious symbol of death which encompasses the main points of the movie and becomes easily associated with Harold, the boy obsessed with death (the white, instead of representing purity in its traditional sense, can represent sanitization or a sort of cleansing that his psychiatrist is trying to impose upon Harold). Clothing wise, Maude s outfits are either stand out colours like those she wears to funerals, or earthy tones, which could have been forth with the intention that Maude is one with the earth, as her character is routinely trying to help the planet, for example when she would protest in her youth and in the moving of the tree from the city to a forest. Of course, because of Maude, Harold abandons his darkened suits and ties and adopts a more youthful, colourful wardrobe, his clothes reflect him coming back to life so to ... • 36. The Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Teens It takes a village to raise a child, or at least it was once believed to. It seems each year parents are getting younger in age, and the birth rate is rising higher. Mississippi has the highest birth rates in teen pregnancy, and has held this title for the past few years. This problem has had such a rise to fame because this is a problem that can be prevented. Parents and communities should take action to help lower the teen pregnancy birth rate in Mississippi. Since the birth rate in teens is so high that means there is more need of government assistance. This becomes such a problem in states because with more government assistance come more money, and in states like Mississippi, who is ranked as one of the poorest states in America, this falls back on everyone. Even though the birth rate has gotten out of control, teen pregnancy is 100% preventable. With the right knowledge and explanations this problem could be incredibly reduced. Teen pregnancy becomes an even larger problem because not only does it affect the families involved, but it affects the economy. According to Newswire PR, Mississippi has seen a 36% decline in the teen birth rate between 1991 and 2010. (PR). Also it has been said that teen pregnancy could also cause higher rates with incarceration and child welfare, which are the main concerns from the government (PR). For the past few years many have tried to come up with solutions for teen pregnancy rates. One that comes across the board for years is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
