Woman Wang
Death of Woman Wang by Jonathan D. Spence is a historical monograph set in the Qing dynasty
China. It takes place primarily in Tancheng county, located in Shantung province. It chronicles
everyday life, principle relationships vertical and horizontal, and the structure Qing society
functioned on in this period that lasted from 1644 to 1911. The Chinese patriarchal norm
established the hierarchical relationships, which direction they tended to go in, and the restraints
or advantages experienced by different people. Spence uses 3 main sources to immerse the reader
in Tancheng life. P u Sung Ling, a short story writer that told and wrote folk tales displaying Little

The story of Woman Wang is a real event recounted by county magistrate Huang who had to deal
with the many details, trial and investigation procedures needed for this case. Woman Wang was
unhappy with her marriage to her husband Jen. She was living in poverty and one day in 1671,
she ran away with another man. A woman leaving her relationship without full consensus from
the husband wasn t an option for woman, as it was deemed unlawful in society. The only
circumstances in which a woman could leave her husband in Qing society was: if the man
mutilated her, or if she was forced to commit sexual acts with others. There was not many
desirable places to relocate because of geographical challenges(as a woman with bound feet) and
the danger of certain cities. The only considerable option was Tancheng, which also was a risk
because of the regulations and controlled flow of people into and out of the city. 5 Travelers were
stopped and questioned on their motives and innkeepers took a monopoly on hotels, threatening
guests who tried to take cheaper rooms in other buildings. Wang and her lover were essentially on
the run, and she was avoiding punishment, as she, and her lover for committing adultery, were on
the wrong side of the law. Wang s lover shortly abandoned her while they were fugitives on the
road. She now had to

Analysis Of Rainbow s End And Jane Harrison s Rainbows End
As a result of discovery, individuals are opened to the opportunity to transform and in doing so,
renew perceptions of themselves and those around them. In having renewed perceptions,
individuals are automatically exposed to new experiences and perspectives, and as a result
undergo personal growth. Change is an aspect of discovery that is enabled by past experiences
and in this, transformation is achieved. Through Jane Harrison s Rainbow s End, a 1950 s play
about three generations of an Aboriginal family, and Gwen Harwood s Father and Child, a poem
exploring the transformation of a child we are able to explore the way change is inflicted through
experiences of discovery and the responses we find as a result of this. Maturation and... Show more

Feelings of sadness and sympathy towards Dolly and the situation she is in. Individuals may
feel a sense of loss, where they are encouraged to rediscover something about themselves and
essentially, gain a new understanding of themselves and those around them. Through the sexual
assault scene, we establish that Dolly has lost all the innocence she once endured. As a result of
this loss, she matures and transforms into who she becomes. This is shown through Harrison s
use of symbolism. When Dolly s clothes are stripped off her, this shows essentially the stripping
away of her innocence. From this we see that she is no longer a young girl, but a woman. We see
this in the the way she defies Jungi. Through Dolly s discovery and transformation, her emotional
state is threatened, thus causing her ultimate change. This concept of Dolly s loss of innocence
transforming into a growth of maturity implies that growth is compulsory as a result of a loss or
significant event in an individual s life. Some discoveries may be the result of significant
experiences that one undergoes. In moving on from these experiences, the discoveries can be
provoked and have the ability to open the eyes of individuals. Gwen Harwood s Father and Child
explores the growth and maturation of a child. Harwood shows the juxtaposition between innocence
and maturity and the way that discovering this deepens the perception one has of the world. The

pain of broken glass burying in my feet. I fall onto the glass covered floor and finally a scream

standing in the corner looking right at me. I was pulling my arms against the leather restrains trying

to legal frameworks, regulations, working strategies and procedures.
Introduction
I will be evaluating the role of multi agency working, its strengths and weaknesses and how it is
used to reduce the risk of abuse imposed on adults; I will also be referring to legal frameworks,
regulations, working strategies and procedures.
Strengths of Multi agency working
Multi agency working is beneficial for all service users such as children, young people, adults and

Multi Agency working briefly means different agencies working together to provide necessary care
for one specific individual. Rather than the organisations working separately providing separate
services without any communication, multi agency working encourages service providers to work
together through sharing information and coordination of an approach whereby the individual
needs are in the centre. This is the first step to PCC(Person Centred Care)
For multi agency working to be successful, good communication from all the organisations and
care providers is very important with understanding of the responsibilities for each agency. It also
requires all agencies involved to work to a satisfactory level.
Another benefit of multi Agency working would be that individuals are encouraged to be involved
in their care. Health and social care services are supposed to make individuals feel more confident
in talking about their worries, fears and potential abuse. Not just this but also having quality
relationships with service providers helps care receivers to develop a higher self esteem, confidence
and strength to stop encouraging and accepting the abusive situations that may occur are normal or
feel that they deserve less treatment.
Multi Agency working is also a way of enabling better information sharing and communication via
emails and written records such as in a care home whereby there will be a care log which enables
each carer coming on the shift to be

The Giver novel published in 1993 written by Lois Lowry. And until after 21 years, released on

After dinner we all got in the car and drove to our destination and then we bought the tickets and

Special Educational Needs And Disability
(SEND) stands for Special Educational Needs and Disability . QUOTE A learner s needs may be
too complex for a class teacher to fully cater provide for. It is possible that more support and even
specialist help maybe needed for example speech and language therapy. This is usually when a
child is described as having special needs . (Somerville Primary School, 2016). It is true that having
SEND can affect a learner s capacity to learn. A Send learner may show inappropriate behaviour,
find it hard to socialise, struggle with writing and reading or have other issues in class. This is not
an exhaustive list. Diagram (City of London, 2016).
It is recognised that as a teacher it is important to adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and
needs of all pupils DFES (2013). If a learner needs SEND support, it is recommended that a
graduated approach of Assess Plan Do Review should be employed. (p16, DFES (2014). Learners
should receive more support as needed.
It is true that local authorities are tasked with identifying all young people in the locality who have
SEND or a disability however:
anyone can bring a child or young person who they believe has or probably has SEND or a
disability to the attention of a local authority (Section 24 of the Children and Families Act 2014)
In fact: CCGs, NHS Trusts and NHS Foundation Trusts must inform the appropriate local authority

Compare Hurricanes And Tornadoes
Hurricanes and Tornadoes are alike and different. They are extremely dangerous. They have
destroyed houses buildings and structures. If you were in this situation, what would you do?
Tornadoes can be dangerous too, but hurricanes are still stronger. Tornadoes Come in different
scales. EF0=65 85mph, EF1=86 110mph, EF2=111 135mph, EF3=136 165mph, EF4=166

about the same. Tornadoes spin columns of air that reach the sky and tough the ground. A tornado

Education vs Prison Funding
Final research paper on Education vs. Prison Funding
The government is responsible for security of its citizens and it is also responsible to provide a
safe socio economic environment to its people, and in this context; Jails and schools are two
important institutions of any society, which need regular monetary support from the government.
Thus government has to be very careful in allocating funds to both of the institutions; as one
punishes the convicts and other makes the people skillful, and wise enough to get a job and earn
money for family. Government has to be very careful in allocation of funds to them, as it is very
critical to decide which institution should be allocated more money. The report, PrisonSpending

It also mentions that in past 30 years the population of the country increased by only 33 percent,
however the number of prisoners increased by around 350 percent. With this data we can assume
the amount of funding required for the functioning of jails. Prisoners are seen as potential threat
for the society; government spends billions annually to keep criminals in jails, to supervise
those on parole and probation. Though the prisoners are also human beings and deserve basic
comforts of life in jail too; but, it is also necessary for the government to instill fear of prison in
minds of all the people and it is not possible when prisoners enjoy the comfort in prisons. Jails
should be dreadful for criminals and this fear should work as a deterrent to commit crime, but
studies have revealed that fear of prison is not a successful deterrent for major part of prison
population. Sometimes they don t have an option but to commit crime, as many of them are not
educated enough to get a decent job and earn money; so they resort to crime to earn a living. A
report titled. Education and Correctional Populations suggests that it can only be stopped, if
prisoners are provided education to make them skillful, and instead of spending money on gyms
and other recreational things for prisoners, jails should spend money on making a good library and
providing technical education to prisoners, so they

Descriptive Essay About Window Shopping
On the first day we arrived in Monterey we had lunch at a family dinners we found before
exploring the area. Since we had arrived late and couldn t go to the aquarium that day like we
had originally planned. So for the rest of the day we went window shopping because there were
several small shops in the area near the aquarium. There was one store in particular that we all had
found interesting it was a glassmakers shop. Inside the shop there were different glass plates,

The Effect Of Temperature On The Earth Surface Energy Budget
1. Introduction
In 1762, Scottish chemist Joseph Black first introduced the term Latent Heat . He defined this term
as the quantity of heat absorbed or released by a substance undergoing a change of state at a
constant temperature and pressure [2]. Black, used the term latent heat in the context of calorimetry
[3] when he observed a change in volume of a thermodynamic system whilst it was held at a
constant temperature.
Two more common forms of enthalpies are latent heat of fusion (solid to liquid) and latent of
vaporization (liquid to vapour). Both of these changes are endothermic as they absorb energy whilst
changing state, which is important in the science of Meteorology. Meteorology studies the
processes of transpiration, evaporation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because when heat is added to a system whilst changing state there is no change in
temperature.
Specific heat capacity is an important value for many reasons; substances with a small specific
heat capacity are useful for tools used in cooking such as pans and kettles because their
temperature needs to be raised quickly whereas substances that have a large specific heat are more
suitable for insulation as an absorption of heat will cause a smaller change in temperature.
2. Theory
2.1 Latent Heat
Latent heat derives from the amount of work required to overcome the forces that hold together the
atoms or molecules in a substance. Attractive forces maintain the crystalline lattice of a solid and
each atom oscillates to and from its average centre of mass position. As the temperature of this
structure increases the oscillations become progressively more violent until the melting point is
reached and the attractive forces holding the lattice together are no longer sufficient enough to
maintain the crystalline structure s stability.
Further heat (latent heat of fusion) must be added for the substance to complete a full change of
state. Once enough heat is added to the system the substance will melt and become liquid which
results in the atoms and molecules to no longer maintain a structured crystal lattice but instead are
free to move. Forces of

Jesus Ministry On Jesus And His Disciples
4. Commentary.
8:27.While Mark has been clearly focusing on Jesus ministry in Galilee where his authority was
exhibited in his teaching and the miraculous, he now transits by altering his scene of action from
Galilee to the the way to Jerusalem via Caesarea Philippi. The construction Jesus and his disciples
is not frequently employed by the author especially when reporting on Jesus journeying episodes.
Often times he renders the verbal form in singular when referring to Jesus alone or the third
person plural they for both Jesus and his disciples . This pointing is significant for it marks a
turning point on what is to follow. This path is exclusively Jesus as it will climax with Jesus alone
at the cross when all his disciples will have deserted him.
With his disciples, he journeys into the Caesarea Philippi. This is significant geographical shift for
most of Jesus ministry had been in Galilee. He now goes north east of Bethsaida, into a popularly
Hellenistic city. At the territorial border exiting into non Jewish territory. It is a city that was built
by Philip and named after Roman emperor and Herod Antipas s brother Philip. It had long been a
center of Pagan worship and prominently a site for emperor worship . Importantly it was a city for
political rulers. The significance of Jesus choice to visit this city has been highly disputed by
various scholars. Stain argues that, this geographical designation must be a historical reminiscence
since there is no known

Coco Chanel Biography
Today, one of the most important items that a woman must have in her closet is a little black
dress and Coco Chanel was the woman that made having one so important. Ms. Chanel had a
very rewarding career and, even today, her and her company are huge parts of the fashion world.
While researching her early life, lovers, career, and her death, there were many facts about Miss
Coco Chanelthat made her a truly intriguing person to research. She seemed to have led a very
interesting life, but she may not have been happy. That is probably why she kept going for the
richer and more powerful men and why she lied so much about her past. The inconsistencies were
evident throughout all the research, even up to her cause of death.
In Saumur, France on August 19, 1883, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanelwas born. At the time of her
birth, her parents were not married, but they did exchange vows when Ms. Chanel was a year old.
When she was twelve years old, her mother died. Her cause of death was from a respiratory
infection, either tuberculosis or bronchitis. Her father, then, sent her and her sisters to go live in
Aubazine, a convent. One resource states that the convent was too strict that Chanel ran away to
Moulins to stay at a boarding house for Catholic girls. (Coco Chanel Biography Childhood, Life
Achievements Timeline) But another source states that Ms. Chanel stayed at the convent until she
turned eighteen, and then she was released; from there she went to go live in Moulins.

Essay about Business Internships
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually
out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students
in today s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or
business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main
purpose of the internshipis for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are
also other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether
or not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they
are highly interested in it really helps... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason alone is a great reason as to why all business schools should build a strong
internship program.
An internship is no good if you do not make it work. Thus making the internship work for you is
very important. To start out the student must want to direct their full attention to the internship
because the internship is pretty much starting out their future. First impressions are usually suppose
to be good so a student should not go into an internship thinking that it is going to be easy and that
they can just blow through it. Internships should be beneficial for the students and the employer s.
The internship program coordinator should look for a few things when they are picking out the
companies in which they are going to send their students to learn and gain experience. First off the
firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do.
Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. It also helps out
when there are positive people surrounding the student intern. For an internship to work, the firm s
principals must be available to supervise and teach. (Berger 30) The student intern will usually
have lots of questions and if there are good people around the intern to answer his or her questions
and correct their mistakes then the internship will be quite beneficial.
There are legal concerns that come along with internships that the

The Prophet Muhammad Was A Great Woman
Zainab bint Muhammad was a great woman. She was the eldest daughter of the Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) and Khadija (rah). She was born 599AD. Her story begins in Makkah when
one day her cousin, Abu al As ibn al Rabi, ask her head in marriage. The prophet asked Zaynab if
she wanted to marry him, and she blushed out of bashfulness and smiled. They had two children
named Ali(died during childhood) and Umma. One day when, Abu al As ibn al Rabi returned to
Makkah from a trip, Zainab announced that her father had become the prophet of Islam and that
she and most her family had be come Muslims. The quraysh told Abu al As ibn al Rabi to divorce

Makkah. That s when tragedy struck. Since Zainab s husband was not Muslim, he was going to

father. She was very scared. She feared for her husband and her father. She prayed saying O
Allah, I fear one day the sun may rise and my children become orphans or I lose my father . So
the battle started, and ended in victory for the Muslims. In the end the Muslims won and Abu al
As ibn al Rabi was captured. When this news reached Makkah, Zainab was over come with relief
and thanked Allah that her father was all right and that the Muslims had won. There was a
problem though. Her husband was captured. She did not have much so she gave her necklace as
a payment. When the prophet was checking the payments and releasing captives, he saw Zainab
s necklace. He began to sob because it was Khadija s necklace and he had loved her dearly. He
released Abu al As ibn al Rabi for the time being and told him to give the necklace to Zainab and
tell her to never give it away. Then the prophet created a rule. A Muslim woman cannot be

Zainab that she had to go and stay with her father in Madina and leave him. She asked him for

Ethnographic Observation
Ethnographic Observation TSL 4520

Background (Milde, R., 2001)
Common wisdom tells us that there are, in general, two kinds of writing: creative and expository.
Creative writing tells about feelings, opinions, points of view, things that originate inside the writer.
Expository essays tell about facts, things outside of the writer. Essays on literature examine a
literary text, a thing outside the writer. Lab reports describe experiments with chemicals and other
stuff that really exists and can be measured. Research is factual; fiction, poetry, and the personal
story are emotional.

Guiding questions are aimed at the basic point of ethnography: gaining the world view of a group

A common format for a guiding questions might be:
How do members of a particular group perceive of or understand a certain social or cultural

It s best to take notes during the observation. If that is impractical, take notes immediately

Long Distance Rates And Revenue
As long distance rates and revenue declined, the debt and expenses piled up and put pressure on
WorldCom s ability to meet key performance indicators and earnings forecasts (J. Randel Kuhn
Sutton, 2006). The line cost was the biggest expense for WorldCom and half of its total expenses.
Management committed to achieve a low line cost to revenue ratio because lower ratio meant better
performance and higher ratio meant poorer performance. Managementfocused on lowering the line
cost level expense (J. Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). It carried out two improper accounting
methods to reduce the amount of line costs (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). First, it
released the accruals, the amounts kept aside on WorldCom s financial statements to pay
expected bills which is also called cookie jar reserve from 1999 2000 (Beresford, Katzenbach,
C.B. Rogers, 2003). These accruals were supposed to reflect the estimate line costs and other
expenses that WorldCom had not yet paid (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003). Releasing
the accrual is appropriate when it turns out that less is needed to pay the bills than has been
expected to pay. Instead, WorldCom provided offset against reported line costs when the accrual
was released which reduced reported expenses and increased pre tax income (Beresford,
Katzenbach, C.B. Rogers, 2003).
When the accruals started to run out, WorldCom came up with another method, capitalization of
line costs. WorldCom started classifying

Religion In Night By Elie Wiesel
As days went by in the concentration camp, many begin to lose their faith in religion just like
Elie. The book, Night is written by Elie Wiesel, a winner of the Nobel Peace prize. In the book
Night, Elie is the main character who is very religious at first. It begins with his family and him
traveling to Auschwitz which his little sister and mother die. With only his father and him, they
went through many hardships and moving from camp to camp. Unfortunately, Elie father did not
survive the Holocaust but Elie did. By the end of the story, Elie did entirely lose his faithin God
because he did not celebrate the important holidays, questioned God and his justice, and tries to
forget his existence.
One way that shows Elie loss of faith in religion is that he refuse to participate and enjoy the
religious holidays. Once a religious Jewish who study the Kabbalah, Elie did not enjoy Rosh
Hashana and pray like the other Jews. He also decided not to fast during Yom Kippur. And then,
there was no longer any reason for me to fast. I no longer accepted God s silence. As I swallowed
my ration of soup. I turned that act into a symbol of rebellion, of protest against him (Wiesel,
69). Wiesel uses words such as silence, rebellion, and protests against him to bring out the anger
in Elie s voice and feeling. He realizes that faith does not help you survive. Elie s refusal to
participate in these holidays indicates the beginning process of losing his faith.
Another way that shows him losing

Discover the Intricacies of Agoraphobia Essay
Among the many diseases in this world, some of the most interesting and least understood are
illnesses of the mind. One aliment in particular, Agoraphobia, is of particular interest to me as it

if I too will fall victim to it. I know from previous knowledge that this particular ailment is a
mental one, though I have witnessed it causing drastic physical symptoms, and that it generally

Aside from written, digital sources, it was required of me to conduct an interview for this
assignment, something that I at first was weary of, but was ultimately glad I did. I first had to
decide on to whom to interview, and I did so by first asking myself what I wanted to know more
from a real person, and what would be easier to find out from a real person. This essentially
boiled down to talking to either a doctor about treatment or a patient about how the disease is
truly experienced. Eventually I chose to do the later, because finding medical papers was
relatively easy, but finding out the real difficulties of the disease was something that was too
personal for most scientific sources. I chose to interview my aunt, Linda Pistole, as she out of all
of my family had the worst case of agoraphobia, and contacted her through a simple phone call.
She agreed to the interview and arranged to answer my questions over lunch at her house the next
day. I conducted the interview rather cautiously, as I knew it was a difficult topic, so gentleness
was key. Tape recording was out of the question during the interview so I took notes instead, and
knew that I could always call again if I managed to forget something important. Overall, I felt that
the interview went better than I expected. The information I received had detail, but not bloated
with technical jargon as most formal sources are, and I found it to be quiet useful. It illustrated well

Why People Commit Crime Is Not An Easy Task
Introduction
Explaining why people commit crime is not an easy task. Criminologists have attempted to travel
down the paths of the reasoning for criminal behavior and the factors that flow with them.
Criminologists have developed many theories or perspectives of crime. The perspectives recognize
the cause of crime by the related qualifies of criminals and populations with high crime rates. Two
perspectives of crime stood out from the wide variety, biological and psychological. In some cases
biological and psychological explanations of crime run hand in hand, however the two perspectives
focus on very different products of criminal behavior.
BIOLOGICAL VIEW
In explaining criminal behavior factors reveal that a person s physical or biological
characteristics are the results of criminal behavior. Biological factors play a significant role in
determining the reasons people commit crime. It is believed that people go against the social
norms because of that person s biological make up (Boundless, 2014). Biological perspectives
note that a person s appearances and properties can be linked to illegal acts. Lombroso believed
that people with certain appearances such as drooping eyes or large ears were found to be
criminals (Boundless, 2014). Hereditary and genetic factors are said to also be a product of
criminal behavior. A child can grow up and have the tendencies of a criminal because he/she has
inherited those traits from a criminal parent. In today s society, biochemical

Relationship Between Teacher Training And Student...
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1Theoretical review
Meta analytic reviews reveal contradictory results with regard to the relationship between teacher
training and student achievement. Hanushek (1989, 1997; Fehrler et al., 2009) concluded that there
is no strong evidence to suggest that teacher training and teacher education has a positive effect on
student achievement. On the other hand, Greenwald et.al (1996) and Kane (2013) find a strong
relationship between teacher education and student achievement. Using a narrative synthesis of
individual studies, Wayne and Youngs (2003) argue that students test scores in English, History and
Science do not provide sufficient empirical evidence for drawing conclusions regarding the nature
of the relationship between teachers education and training and students achievement.
2.1.1Aspects of teacher training and education that affect teacher quality
The government plays a major role in determining the qualification of teachers. Governments
influences teacher quality by setting teacher qualification at a high level to so as to ensure
satisfactory teacher quality while taking into account the supply of qualified individuals. Minimum
qualification requirements for teachers tend to change over time. Teachers employed in the past
may not meet the set qualifications for new teachers, (UNESCO, 2012, 2014). Thus, the quality of
new teachers entering into the profession from initial training will tends to depend on several
factors including the

Nursing Homes
Just the mere mention of nursing home causes most people to shudder and think, I would never
put my relative in such a ghastly place. There are a great deal of horror stories that stem from
nursing homes, most along the lines of , My mother was neglected after I put her in a nursing home.
I would go to visit her and she would be lying in urine and have a new bruise, different than the
one that was there last time. There seems to be this popular perception that nursing homes are
places where aging people go to wait out their final days and die; this causes many individuals to

The predominance of residents in nursing homes are long term, meaning they will never recover
enough to be on their own again. For every 100 residents there are 35 that will die in the nursing
home and 37 will transfer to a hospital before dying (Day). This does not mean that it was the
facilities fault, it just shows that many patients are already reaching their final days when they are
placed in a nursing home. People should not expect the nursing homes to revitalize every single
resident, considering most are in there for extreme health problems.
The nursing homes that are present today have definitely evolved a great deal from where they first
started. Before the 19th century, no age restricted institutions existed in order to care for long term
residents. The elderly people who had an incapacity, were impoverished, or had no family, often
ended their days in almshouses (FATE). In these almshouses, elders had to live with those who were
insane, intoxicated, and homeless. The older individuals ended up being the dominant residents in
the almshouses so superintendents changes the names of these asylums. By 1923, the proportion of
elders had increased to 67% in the institutions, and managers stated they could find everything they
needed (FATE). This began the formation of nursing homes, however, there was still a negative
view that came from the almshouses. People still

Comparison Between Modern Day Music And Langston Hughes...
Comparison of modern day music to Langston Hughes and Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry has
changed over the course of many years and numerous events in history.Music, as well, changed
the sound and lyrical meanings due to many events in history. Whether music is poetry or not
can be argued, but I believe music is an art represented through sound and lyrics. Music is a form
of poetry with a little tune to it. Music has a message to it just as poetry would. Modern day
music can reflect on many things, just as poetry sometimes refers to events going on in the
world. Many years ago a very controversial topic was the discussion of slavery, and later the
inequality of colored men to whites. Popular American poets, Paul Laurence Dunbar and
Langston Hughes, are two of the very few who would talk about these controversies. Their
poetry consisted of slavery, racial relations and inequality, opportunity, and hope. Their poetry
captures the despair and faith in the colored people through all their oppression. Modern day
music genre and style of hip hop or rap is a style created by African Americans. Present day rap
artists, J Cole and Kendrick Lamar, are two rap artists who have revolutionized music and have
become idolized by many African Americans. The two are known for discussing the reality of
what it is like being a black man in today s society. The poems of Hughes and Dunbar are very
comparable to the songs of Cole and Lamar that discuss oppression, inequality, and hope within

What Are The Red Flags In The Landlady
In the story, The Landlady by Roald Dahl there are numerous red flags where a young man, Billy,
has trouble trusting his instincts. Billy is quite intrigued when he finds a Bed and Breakfast that
is inexpensive. He finds the sweet old lady to be a little off, but ignores it until he realizes what
she will do to him. In this story, Dahl shows that Billy should trust his instincts when something
seems off, otherwise something awful might end up happening to him. The first red flag happens
in the beginning of the story. Although it may not stand out as particularly important or atrocious,
when combined with other minor, almost negligible events that happen it is definitely worth
noticing. Dahl writes, Normally you ring the bell and you have at least a half minutes wait before
the door opens. But this dame was a like a jack in the box. (2) Billy appears to find this a little
strange, but this alone, without her telling him how she was expecting him and other little things
she does it doesn t seem that important. She says little peculiar things to him when he first arrives

Compare And Contrast Utopian And Dystopia
: Utopian and Dystopian Literature
There are several definitions for utopia: some philosophers say that utopia is a perfect happy and
ideal place or island. Sir Thomas More (1478 1535) sees that utopia is the perfect attitudes and
behavior of people who seek happiness. He believes that utopian citizens are committed to the
happiness of other people as well as to their own pleasure; they are cheerful and always seek the
public good. Lois Lowry defines utopia as a place that there is no poverty, starvation,
unemployment, lack of housing, or prejudice; everything is good and there are no problems.

The ending can be positive or negative and has a moral lesson. The hero can be a tragic hero and
has a tragic flaw. The ending is left for the reader to decide what is right and what is wrong.
Usually the hero wants to change something in his or her society and willing to affect a change.
Masses are not important; they are just part of the whole. Ambition is only for the progress of
the society. Many works describe people describe people as numbers. In every novel, clothes
and their hair is the same (Ferris 14). Aldus Leonard Huxley (1894 1963) is one of the pioneers.
He was an English novelist. He was best known for his novel Brave New World (1932) which is
set in a dystopian London. His themes are suffering, science, freedom, confinement, society and
class. Lois Lowry (1937 ) is an American writer. She wrote The Giver 1993. She used many

Giver is one of the greatest masterpieces. It is a 1993 American young adult novel by Lois Lowry.
It is set in society which at first appear to be utopian but is revealed to be dystopian as the story

Critical Analysis Of Killing The Bear By Judith Minty
The Analysis of Killing the Bear by Judith Minty Based on Reader Response Criticism The
important thing in the reader response theory is the interpretive of the readers itself, rather than
the author or even the text. The theory gives the competence to the reader to critic the text,
however with the condition the readers have the evidence or research from other people toward
the critic. The way of their interpretation may reveal their identity, because the reader gives the

more constructing the work itself (Louise M. Rosenblatt, 1988). The theory usually used for the

settlements have trouble receiving healthcare and they also face alarming shortages of food,
water, and shelter . Overall, there have been 2.7 million displaced people and those rates are still
going up. In addition, there are 120,000 refugees fleeing to these provinces, and in 5 of the eastern
provinces alone, there are 6.7 million hungry people. (10 Facts). Settlements, such as Tanganyika,
have seen nearly half a million citizens displaced within a year (Democratic Republic of Congo).
These provinces will soon see these numbers climb if something is not done to stop this growing
issue.
The effects that malnutrition has on the Democratic Republic of Congo are fairly severe. Not only
is malnutrition affecting the countrywide health, but it also heavily impacts the economy. Because
citizens are undernourished, they are at a higher risk of infections and diseases. This is due to a
lack of a balanced diet which

Analysis Of The Book The Fugitive Essay
The Fugitive
One summer night Sara, Chad, Austin, Tristan, Autumn, Myles, Shelby, and I got together to find
a game to play. We met in Lincoln at South Pointe at Cold stone creamery. We headed to the mini
golf course but when we arrived the place was packed. So we stood in the parking lot trying to
figure out ideas. We were getting nowhere when Tristan says well we can play fugitive.
None of us had ever played it or even heard of such a game. He explained it was a game where
we have two people in a car trying to find the fugitives the fugitives start at one end of the town
and the cops would start at the other. There would be a designated place where if you made it
without being captured you won the game. So we decided Lincoln was too big to play it so we
headed to our hometown of Seward. We arrived at the ballfields and broke into four couples. Sara
and Austin were the cops and the rest of us were fugitives. They got in the burgandy vanand drove
to the other side of town. Right when they were out of sight Chad and I sprinted as fast as we
could to get a head start over competition. I only made it about half a mile before I was keeled
over out of breath but Chad, who is in cross country, kept running and left me behind. Soon I was
alone walking the streetlight lit sidewalk trying to find my way to town square. As a girl walking
alone always freaks me out especially at night so I am extra aware of my surroundings. There are
crickets chirping, wind is russeling the

Human Relation vs Human Resources
Discuss the difference between human relations theory and human resources development and the
implications which each strategy has for issues of socialisation and performance control. Which of
these theories appears to be most consistent with the behaviour of contemporary managers?
There are so many fallacies for instance the term of human relations and human resources where the
contemporary organisation unseen the differences between this two approaches. Both human
relations and human resources manager might use the same kind of organisational behaviour but
for very different reasons (Miller 2009). Human relations approach emphasize on productivity
where the management advocates better on treatment of subordinates in belief that it ... Show more

In Herzberg s Motivation Hygiene theory led to development of extensive lists of these motivator
and hygiene factor (Miller 2006). According to Miller (2006), the category of motivator factors is
responsibility, achievement, recognition, challenging work and advancement in the organisation.
The category of hygiene factors are physical working conditions, salary, benefits, company policy
and the technical quality of supervision (Miller 2006). Herzberg believes that the absence of
these factors will lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Effective job performance is highly
dependent on the adequacy and balance of both motivator and hygiene factors. A US retailer,
Costco is known to be incredibly loyal, which can be keep profitability for the organisation
(Leberecht 2010). Keeping the employees satisfied will make employees perform well and it results
in higher profitability for the organisation in the long run (Leberecht 2010).
The fact that human relation approaches can really enhance the performance control for an
organisation is undisputable however it will bring some negative impacts to an organisation at the
same time. Human relations theories revolve broadly around fulfilling employees needs as an
individual in correlation to their job performance. Therefore, individualism could also indirectly
cause the breakdown of cooperation as well as social cycle. For instance, Maslow s and Herzberg s
theory which mentioned about reward as motivator

A Nursing Home For The Ill
To those who were afflicted a practical nursing home for the ill.
***
What do you mean I can t stay with her? I yelled at the woman behind the front desk.
I am sorry, sir. We aren t allowed to let you stay. The clerk stood tall, and her words were firm. The
other residents may find discomfort knowing there is a non afflicted person living in our quarters.
I continued to yell. I extended my arm towards my wife. She needs me!
Sir, I am sorry, but I am just not allowed to let you stay.
My wife walked up to the desk. She placed her hand gently on the counter. Her fingers were bound
by skin so that only her thumb was mobile. Please, ma am. Not only do I need him, but he needs
me. Please.
The clerk s previous presence faded. She began typing into her computer. Her hands shook and her
voice cracked when she said, your room is on the third floor. She handed me the key.
***
Since it was difficult for her to walk with the skin that immobilized her toes, I guided my wife
delicately through the halls. I held her elbow, since she wasn t able to hold my hand anymore.
As we approached our room, we saw many residents afflicted with the illness roaming the halls.
Some followed along the wall, blinded by the skin covering their eyes. Others bowed their heads at
us in greeting, unable to speak due to the skin that connected their lips.
A boy came up to us and offered his hand. We shook hands as he greeted us. Hello, ma am and sir.
As my wife

Mybridge Comes To America Analysis
IntroductionDocumentary film, a term coined by John Grierson, the father of the documentary film
movement in the English speaking world, (Barsam, 1973, p. 77), concerns a genre that is unlike
other forms of cinema. There are no actors and the plot reveals itself in authentic actions rather than
dialogue. The people concerned are the characters, their lives the setting. In the years leading up to
Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North, the first such feature length film, the medium was
immensely popular, with audiences clamoring to see the far reaches of the globe from their local
theater or exhibition house. While narrative film in the modern day is considered the default mode
of moviemaking, documentaries still capture the imagination and take the viewer into real lives
they have not experienced, rather than lives imagined on a page. Without these historic
documentaries, film itself may not have reached the heights of culture it inhabits today. The early
history of documentary filmis inseparable from the history of film itself.
Muybridge Comes to America The work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge is commonly
regarded as the origins of the cinema. Muybridge was an English emigrant to the United States
who settled in California during the Gold Rush. An entrepreneur like many of the area s new
arrivals, he opened a successful bookstore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But motion pictures had captured the imagination of the public, not least of which was famous
inventor (and credit taker) Thomas Edison. Edison company photographer William Dickson was
put to work on creating what would be called the Kinetograph. Edison intended for the machine to
do for the eyes what the phonograph does for the ear. Though he credited himself with the
invention, Dickson did the major legwork in building the actual machine

Persuasive Essay On Caged Rights
Caged Rights
Whether it was long ago in the glorious days of childhood or if it was a recent trip, the majority
of us have gone to a zoo at least once. As a child, no one seems to challenge the ethical dilemmas
zoos put forth, but as one matures they may start to call into question the ethics of zoos. Do zoos
treat animals humanely? Some questions one should think about are the zoo s breeding and
conservation strategies that go on and the exhibits. Do they support the necessities that animals
require?
One well known positive impact zoos have in place are their breeding and conservation programs.
These educational and species saving programs have been able to bring numerous animals such as
red wolves, black footed ferrets, and California Condors back from the brink of extinction. Species
Survival Plans (SSPs), which aim to manage the breeding of specific endangered species in
order to help maintain healthy and self sustaining populations that are both genetically diverse
and demographically stable (Traw), are a key factor in saving these species. So far, the
Association of Zoos and Aquariums has put in place over 100 SSPs. Without these plans in
place, the Earth would be missing an even larger amount of species. One of the main arguments
zoo protestors have against captive breeding, is that it creates a lack of diversity in the species
genes; however, experts in this field are very knowledgeable about creating diversity, and they have
software that looks over the genetic

The story of Woman Wang is a real event recounted by county magistrate Huang who had to deal with the many details, trial and investigation procedures needed for this case. Woman Wang was unhappy with her marriage to her husband Jen. She was living in poverty and one day in 1671, she ran away with another man. A woman leaving her relationship without full consensus from the husband wasn t an option for woman, as it was deemed unlawful in society. The only circumstances in which a woman could leave her husband in Qing society was: if the man mutilated her, or if she was forced to commit sexual acts with others. There was not many desirable places to relocate because of geographical challenges(as a woman with bound feet) and the danger of certain cities. The only considerable option was Tancheng, which also was a risk because of the regulations and controlled flow of people into and out of the city. 5 Travelers were stopped and questioned on their motives and innkeepers took a monopoly on hotels, threatening guests who tried to take cheaper rooms in other buildings. Wang and her lover were essentially on the run, and she was avoiding punishment, as she, and her lover for committing adultery, were on the wrong side of the law. • 4. Analysis Of Rainbow s End And Jane Harrison s Rainbows End As a result of discovery, individuals are opened to the opportunity to transform and in doing so, renew perceptions of themselves and those around them. In having renewed perceptions, individuals are automatically exposed to new experiences and perspectives, and as a result undergo personal growth. Change is an aspect of discovery that is enabled by past experiences and in this, transformation is achieved. Through Jane Harrison s Rainbow s End, a 1950 s play about three generations of an Aboriginal family, and Gwen Harwood s Father and Child, a poem exploring the transformation of a child we are able to explore the way change is inflicted through experiences of discovery and the responses we find as a result of this. Individuals may feel a sense of loss, where they are encouraged to rediscover something about themselves and essentially, gain a new understanding of themselves and those around them. Through the sexual assault scene, we establish that Dolly has lost all the innocence she once endured. As a result of this loss, she matures and transforms into who she becomes. This is shown through Harrison s use of symbolism. When Dolly s clothes are stripped off her, this shows essentially the stripping away of her innocence. From this we see that she is no longer a young girl, but a woman. We see this in the the way she defies Jungi. Through Dolly s discovery and transformation, her emotional state is threatened, thus causing her ultimate change. This concept of Dolly s loss of innocence transforming into a growth of maturity implies that growth is compulsory as a result of a loss or significant event in an individual s life. Some discoveries may be the result of significant experiences that one undergoes. In moving on from these experiences, the discoveries can be provoked and have the ability to open the eyes of individuals. Gwen Harwood s Father and Child explores the growth and maturation of a child. Harwood shows the juxtaposition between innocence and maturity and the way that discovering this deepens the perception one has of the world. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus government has to be very careful in allocating funds to both of the institutions; as one punishes the convicts and other makes the people skillful, and wise enough to get a job and earn money for family. It also mentions that in past 30 years the population of the country increased by only 33 percent, however the number of prisoners increased by around 350 percent. With this data we can assume the amount of funding required for the functioning of jails. Prisoners are seen as potential threat for the society; government spends billions annually to keep criminals in jails, to supervise those on parole and probation. Though the prisoners are also human beings and deserve basic comforts of life in jail too; but, it is also necessary for the government to instill fear of prison in minds of all the people and it is not possible when prisoners enjoy the comfort in prisons. • 18. The Effect Of Temperature On The Earth Surface Energy Budget 1. Introduction In 1762, Scottish chemist Joseph Black first introduced the term Latent Heat . He defined this term as the quantity of heat absorbed or released by a substance undergoing a change of state at a constant temperature and pressure [2]. Black, used the term latent heat in the context of calorimetry [3] when he observed a change in volume of a thermodynamic system whilst it was held at a constant temperature. Two more common forms of enthalpies are latent heat of fusion (solid to liquid) and latent of vaporization (liquid to vapour). Both of these changes are endothermic as they absorb energy whilst changing state, which is important in the science of Meteorology. Meteorology studies the processes of transpiration, evaporation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because when heat is added to a system whilst changing state there is no change in temperature. Specific heat capacity is an important value for many reasons; substances with a small specific heat capacity are useful for tools used in cooking such as pans and kettles because their temperature needs to be raised quickly whereas substances that have a large specific heat are more suitable for insulation as an absorption of heat will cause a smaller change in temperature. 2. Theory 2.1 Latent Heat Latent heat derives from the amount of work required to overcome the forces that hold together the atoms or molecules in a substance. Attractive forces maintain the crystalline lattice of a solid and each atom oscillates to and from its average centre of mass position. As the temperature of this structure increases the oscillations become progressively more violent until the melting point is reached and the attractive forces holding the lattice together are no longer sufficient enough to maintain the crystalline structure s stability. Further heat (latent heat of fusion) must be added for the substance to complete a full change of state. Once enough heat is added to the system the substance will melt and become liquid which results in the atoms and molecules to no longer maintain a structured crystal lattice but instead are free to move. Commentary. 8:27.While Mark has been clearly focusing on Jesus ministry in Galilee where his authority was exhibited in his teaching and the miraculous, he now transits by altering his scene of action from Galilee to the the way to Jerusalem via Caesarea Philippi. The construction Jesus and his disciples is not frequently employed by the author especially when reporting on Jesus journeying episodes. Often times he renders the verbal form in singular when referring to Jesus alone or the third person plural they for both Jesus and his disciples . The inconsistencies were evident throughout all the research, even up to her cause of death. In Saumur, France on August 19, 1883, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanelwas born. At the time of her birth, her parents were not married, but they did exchange vows when Ms. Chanel was a year old. When she was twelve years old, her mother died. Her cause of death was from a respiratory infection, either tuberculosis or bronchitis. Her father, then, sent her and her sisters to go live in Aubazine, a convent. One resource states that the convent was too strict that Chanel ran away to Moulins to stay at a boarding house for Catholic girls. (Coco Chanel Biography Childhood, Life Achievements Timeline) But another source states that Ms. Chanel stayed at the convent until she turned eighteen, and then she was released; from there she went to go live in Moulins. First off the firm in which you might be thinking about going into for an intern must have work for you to do. Sitting behind a desk all day staring out the window will not teach you anything. Management committed to achieve a low line cost to revenue ratio because lower ratio meant better performance and higher ratio meant poorer performance. Managementfocused on lowering the line cost level expense (J. Randel Kuhn Sutton, 2006). It carried out two improper accounting methods to reduce the amount of line costs (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. First, it released the accruals, the amounts kept aside on WorldCom s financial statements to pay expected bills which is also called cookie jar reserve from 1999 2000 (Beresford, Katzenbach, C.B. It begins with his family and him traveling to Auschwitz which his little sister and mother die. With only his father and him, they went through many hardships and moving from camp to camp. Unfortunately, Elie father did not survive the Holocaust but Elie did. By the end of the story, Elie did entirely lose his faithin God because he did not celebrate the important holidays, questioned God and his justice, and tries to forget his existence. One way that shows Elie loss of faith in religion is that he refuse to participate and enjoy the religious holidays. Once a religious Jewish who study the Kabbalah, Elie did not enjoy Rosh Hashana and pray like the other Jews. He also decided not to fast during Yom Kippur. And then, there was no longer any reason for me to fast. I no longer accepted God s silence. As I swallowed my ration of soup. I turned that act into a symbol of rebellion, of protest against him (Wiesel, 69). This essentially boiled down to talking to either a doctor about treatment or a patient about how the disease is truly experienced. Eventually I chose to do the later, because finding medical papers was relatively easy, but finding out the real difficulties of the disease was something that was too personal for most scientific sources. • 29. Why People Commit Crime Is Not An Easy Task Introduction Explaining why people commit crime is not an easy task. Criminologists have attempted to travel down the paths of the reasoning for criminal behavior and the factors that flow with them. Criminologists have developed many theories or perspectives of crime. The perspectives recognize the cause of crime by the related qualifies of criminals and populations with high crime rates. Two perspectives of crime stood out from the wide variety, biological and psychological. In some cases biological and psychological explanations of crime run hand in hand, however the two perspectives focus on very different products of criminal behavior. BIOLOGICAL VIEW In explaining criminal behavior factors reveal that a person s physical or biological characteristics are the results of criminal behavior. Biological factors play a significant role in determining the reasons people commit crime. It is believed that people go against the social norms because of that person s biological make up (Boundless, 2014). Biological perspectives note that a person s appearances and properties can be linked to illegal acts. Lombroso believed that people with certain appearances such as drooping eyes or large ears were found to be criminals (Boundless, 2014). Hereditary and genetic factors are said to also be a product of criminal behavior. A child can grow up and have the tendencies of a criminal because he/she has inherited those traits from a criminal parent. In today s society, biochemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1Theoretical review Meta analytic reviews reveal contradictory results with regard to the relationship between teacher training and student achievement. Hanushek (1989, 1997; Fehrler et al., 2009) concluded that there is no strong evidence to suggest that teacher training and teacher education has a positive effect on student achievement. On the other hand, Greenwald et.al (1996) and Kane (2013) find a strong relationship between teacher education and student achievement. Using a narrative synthesis of individual studies, Wayne and Youngs (2003) argue that students test scores in English, History and Science do not provide sufficient empirical evidence for drawing conclusions regarding the nature of the relationship between teachers education and training and students achievement. 2.1.1Aspects of teacher training and education that affect teacher quality The government plays a major role in determining the qualification of teachers. Governments influences teacher quality by setting teacher qualification at a high level to so as to ensure satisfactory teacher quality while taking into account the supply of qualified individuals. Minimum qualification requirements for teachers tend to change over time. Teachers employed in the past may not meet the set qualifications for new teachers, (UNESCO, 2012, 2014). Before the 19th century, no age restricted institutions existed in order to care for long term residents. The elderly people who had an incapacity, were impoverished, or had no family, often ended their days in almshouses (FATE). In these almshouses, elders had to live with those who were insane, intoxicated, and homeless. Comparison of modern day music to Langston Hughes and Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry has changed over the course of many years and numerous events in history.Music, as well, changed the sound and lyrical meanings due to many events in history. Whether music is poetry or not can be argued, but I believe music is an art represented through sound and lyrics. Music is a form of poetry with a little tune to it. Music has a message to it just as poetry would. Modern day music can reflect on many things, just as poetry sometimes refers to events going on in the world. Many years ago a very controversial topic was the discussion of slavery, and later the inequality of colored men to whites. Popular American poets, Paul Laurence Dunbar and Langston Hughes, are two of the very few who would talk about these controversies. Soon I was alone walking the streetlight lit sidewalk trying to find my way to town square. As a girl walking alone always freaks me out especially at night so I am extra aware of my surroundings. There are crickets chirping, wind is russeling the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. A Nursing Home For The Ill To those who were afflicted a practical nursing home for the ill. *** What do you mean I can t stay with her? I yelled at the woman behind the front desk. I am sorry, sir. We aren t allowed to let you stay. The clerk stood tall, and her words were firm. The other residents may find discomfort knowing there is a non afflicted person living in our quarters. I continued to yell. I extended my arm towards my wife. She needs me! Sir, I am sorry, but I am just not allowed to let you stay. My wife walked up to the desk. She placed her hand gently on the counter. Her fingers were bound by skin so that only her thumb was mobile. Please, ma am. Not only do I need him, but he needs me. Please. The clerk s previous presence faded. She began typing into her computer. Her hands shook and her voice cracked when she said, your room is on the third floor. She handed me the key. *** Since it was difficult for her to walk with the skin that immobilized her toes, I guided my wife delicately through the halls. I held her elbow, since she wasn t able to hold my hand anymore. As we approached our room, we saw many residents afflicted with the illness roaming the halls. Some followed along the wall, blinded by the skin covering their eyes. Others bowed their heads at us in greeting, unable to speak due to the skin that connected their lips. A boy came up to us and offered his hand. We shook hands as he greeted us. Hello, ma am and sir. As my wife ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Mybridge Comes To America Analysis IntroductionDocumentary film, a term coined by John Grierson, the father of the documentary film movement in the English speaking world, (Barsam, 1973, p. 77), concerns a genre that is unlike other forms of cinema. There are no actors and the plot reveals itself in authentic actions rather than dialogue. The people concerned are the characters, their lives the setting. In the years leading up to Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North, the first such feature length film, the medium was immensely popular, with audiences clamoring to see the far reaches of the globe from their local theater or exhibition house. While narrative film in the modern day is considered the default mode of moviemaking, documentaries still capture the imagination and take the viewer into real lives they have not experienced, rather than lives imagined on a page. Without these historic documentaries, film itself may not have reached the heights of culture it inhabits today. The early history of documentary filmis inseparable from the history of film itself. Muybridge Comes to America The work of photographer Eadweard Muybridge is commonly regarded as the origins of the cinema. Muybridge was an English emigrant to the United States who settled in California during the Gold Rush. An entrepreneur like many of the area s new arrivals, he opened a successful bookstore ... • 45. Persuasive Essay On Caged Rights Caged Rights Whether it was long ago in the glorious days of childhood or if it was a recent trip, the majority of us have gone to a zoo at least once. As a child, no one seems to challenge the ethical dilemmas zoos put forth, but as one matures they may start to call into question the ethics of zoos. Do zoos treat animals humanely? Some questions one should think about are the zoo s breeding and conservation strategies that go on and the exhibits. Do they support the necessities that animals require? One well known positive impact zoos have in place are their breeding and conservation programs. These educational and species saving programs have been able to bring numerous animals such as red wolves, black footed ferrets, and California Condors back from the brink of extinction. Species Survival Plans (SSPs), which aim to manage the breeding of specific endangered species in order to help maintain healthy and self sustaining populations that are both genetically diverse and demographically stable (Traw), are a key factor in saving these species. So far, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums has put in place over 100 SSPs. Without these plans in place, the Earth would be missing an even larger amount of species. One of the main arguments zoo protestors have against captive breeding, is that it creates a lack of diversity in the species genes; however, experts in this field are very knowledgeable about creating diversity, and they have software that looks over the genetic ...
