The Pros And Cons Of GEICO
The company GEICO was founded in 1936 by Leo and Lillian Goodwin to insure government
employees thus the acronym GEICO (Government employee s insurance company). The company
was eventually acquired by Warren Buffet through a series of stock purchases. In was in 1996 that
Warren Buffet purchased the remaining GEICO stock making the company a subsidiary of Berkshire
Hathaway. GEICO is one of the country leaders in marketing budgets reaching a ground breaking 1
billion expenditures in 2012 according to(http://www.insurancejournal.com). This marketing budget is
what plays to the aggressive role GIECO has in social media. GEICO maintains more than 36,000

their Facebook page that is constantly updated. The list of negative comments is almost unending, the
attempt of GEICO to quell this response is to provide links to customer service.(

and in this respect will probably deter people from insuring with GEICO. There are many comments

Magnet School Research
Thousands of students are gifted who are looking for a better education to suit their learning needs.
Magnet schools are the solution to this problem. Magnet schools are academically selective public
schools which can teach students on a particular focus such as math and science, but can improve by
providing students an enhanced learning experience by changing the modern day classroom. Just by
changing how the modern day classroom runs, students can learn more efficiently and be more likely
to behave and be more successful in life. Magnet schools are public schools with specialized
curriculums and classes. The magnet in magnet school refers to bringing students across the normal
boundaries given by officials ( A Brief History of Magnet Schools ). Most magnet schools in America
are academically selective ( Magnet School Wikipedia). They usually have a narrow focus such as
math and science opposed to regular public schools that have a more generalized focus. Other than
providing gifted students a more academically in depth education, magnet schools are also built to
avoid racial discrimination in some areas of the nation. Applications are usually required to get into
magnet schools and programs. They sometimes require an entrance examination, interview, or
audition. A few magnet schools use the lottery system where the applicants are chosen at random. The
major keys magnet schools look at when applying is race, for a diverse population, and academic
achievements ( Magnet

Essay on Privacy Infringements through the Internet
Today in society, people are expected to be able to protect their own privacy, but the very definition of
privacy states that it is in no way completely attainable, nor will it ever be. And why would people
want that when it has been proven that to achieve absolute privacy would mean to forfeit a place in
society (Nehf)? But in recent years, privacy infringements through the Internet have gotten out of
hand. Until privacy becomes a principal concern for Internet users, they remain unsafe, easy targets
for deceitful scammers, other users, data collectors, and more. There are many problems surrounding
the Internet and its current privacy systems, one of the biggest ones being the current user
accountability arrangement. Currently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the First Amendment concerns the right to free speech. But where is the line drawn
between free speech and cyber bullying? Many schools and organizations observe signs of Cyber
bullying, but the Fourth Amendment banning illegal search and seizure prevents them from taking
further action. Privacy infringements through the Internet are publicly viewed as the work of evil, foul
criminals. But what if the person violating your privacy is your best friend? In many situations a
violation of privacy is an embarrassing wall post or a mean video or tweet. This is a specifically
hurtful instance because it is much more difficult to confront a friend instead of a faceless online
perpetrator. Moreover, many individuals are perfectly will to violate their own privacy through
revealing photos and the sharing of too much personal information, all for the sake of attention
(Subrahmanyam). In 2010, there were several research studies done on Internet privacy, one of which
being the amount of information that could be procured on a specific person in only 30 minutes of
investigating them online (Kasper). The results were startling. The subject of the investigation s sex,

Mpaa s Rating System In This Film Is Not Yet Rated
The 2006 film, This Film is Not Yet Rated , argues that the Motion Picture Association of America s
(MPAA s) rating system for films is a form of censorship with underlying purposes. The rating system
s purposes as the film presents include profit, box office numbers, image, control and company
interest. The film presents its thesis with facts, independent investigation and commentary by people
within the film industry and those that the MPAA s film rating system directly affects. The film makes
a persuasive argument that the MPAA s rating system is a form of censorship. The enemies of movies
and ratings include Jack Valenti, Joan Graves and the MPAA. Valenti is the overseer of the MPAA and
Graves is the head of the MPAA review board. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This affirmation is not too unbelievable because Valenti comes from Washington according to the
film. It is not absurd for Valenti and the MPAA to have acquaintances that have specific interest that
Valenti and the MPAA try to fulfill. In doing so Valenti and the MPAA may receive legislation in their
favor or funding from his acquaintances. Dick reveals another facet of his argument to the viewers
when he examines who is on the board of appeals of movie ratings at the MPAA. This board decides if
a movie rating should be appealed on a case by case basis. The appeals board is made of many people.
These people are not your common, plain and everyday type of people that the MPAA wants you to
believe they are according to the movie. The movie explains the people on the appeals board include
people that represent big companies in the media world. Some of the companies the movies mention
being represented include Regal Entertainment Group, Sony Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures and
others. Allowing big companies to control what films make it to the screen can cripple certain movies
that the group does not see fit to be on display to the public. These groups can also eliminate movies
that pose a threat to their specific film s profit and box office

Exploring the Sharp Rise in Dual-Career Families Essay
Most everyone was raised in a family that had two working parents. Even now most married adults are
working couples. According to a survey, the percentage of dual income families has increased sharply
over the past 30 years. As more and more female enter the work force more single family careers are
turning into two career families. In this economy can a family actually afford not to have both adults
working? Whether it s for money, wanting to seek a goal or just to benefit your family, the dual career
family has taken place of the single career family.
First lets define dual career family , according to the dictionary, the dual career family is one in which
both heads of the household pursue careers and at the same time ... Show more content on

An example would be who would be the bread winner of the family. A woman may be trying to juggle
her career and family. This may be very difficult trying to play wife mother role (nurturance,
emotionality, responsiveness) while balancing her career role. A man too may struggle with his
definition of masculine and feminine roles as it has been taught to him. He may think that he is to be
expected to be the head of the household, to be the one who earns the money and has the power . For
the most part men aren t taught to fill the role in child rearing or homemaking. Even if he has had the
skills he may see it as a waste of time and may hurt his career. Other hand in a single career family
there is no guess as to whose role is what. There is the one that brings in the money, he or she is in the
bread winners role and then there is the one that stays home and takes care of things there. They know
their roles in the household and there is no question about it.
Another challenge of the two career family is that one person may take a back seat for the others
career and the result maybe a person not reaching their full potential career wise. Other the hand the
single career family doesn t have to worry about this, since there is one person with a career that
individual is able to keep going as far as his or her career will take them.
Another challenge is when most couple tries to share the load. When this

An Overview Of Food Safety Essay
An Overview of Food Safety
Unsafe food has been a human health problem since history was first recorded, and many food safety
problems encountered today are not new. Although governments all over the world are doing their best
to improve the safety of the food supply, the occurrence of foodborne disease remains a significant
health issue in both developed and developing countries as stated by WHO (2006). Food safety
concept is that food will not harm the consumer so long as intended use guidelines are followed when
it is prepared or eaten. Conversely, food is potentially harmful whenever it has been exposed to
hazardous agents and intended use guidelines have not been followed (ISO 22000, 2005). York et al.
(2009) as well as Gormley et al. (2011) reported that There is no doubt that the food safety is of great
importance because it provides supplied food safety and secures the conditions and actions through
the production, processing, storage or distribution of food to ensure its safety or suitability for human
consumption Safe Food is free from contaminants and risk and that does not cause injury or damage or
disease of the human food in the long term or the short. Food Safety Management

discussed is the belief that the damaging effects of these curriculum changes are affecting primarily
low income children in urban areas and that there is little potential for these children to get a well
rounded education later in life. I believe that the article certainly poses some strong points that should
be given further consideration, however, as a whole the article does not adequately assess both sides of
the story and thus was generally ineffective in the end. Tim Walker s article The Testing Obsession
and the Disappearing Curriculum suggests that unrealistic pressures put on teachers are having
devastating effects on elementary curriculum, but his analysis came across as too biased on the whole
to be considered a legitimate argument. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states, high poverty schools across the nation have been forced to narrow the curriculum much
more drastically than wealthier schools with worse consequences for low income students. While their
more affluent peers may routinely visit museums or other cultural resources, many poor urban and
rural students rely on their teachers to expose them to the kind of background knowledge that is
essential to subject mastery. Based on that opinion, he goes on to state that ironically the social justice
intended by the No Child Left Behind Act has instead created further social injustice. Walker writes
that an additional inconvenient truth of all this is that the impacts are irreversible, While no one
discounts the very real problem of students who can t read or do basic math, defenders of the status
quo often claim that glossing over science, arts and social studies is merely a fleeting elementary
school experience later to be recouped in middle and later high school. Following this close he quotes
Richard Milner, a professor of education and director of urban education at the University of
Pittsburgh, as saying that by the time these students do reach middle school, it is probably too

Essay on Divergent Viewpoints
The nature of conflicting perspectives is to explore differing values and ideas, through the
representation of the events, people and situations, which in some way impact on the composer and
the reader. Composers often manipulate their representations for their own purpose and these
conflicting perspectives exist because of the eternal subjectivity of composers. Hughes 20th century
confessional poems, Fulbright Scholars and Your Paris offers a perspective on his tempestuous
relationship with Plath, persuading the reader that he was the victim suffocating under Plath s mental
instability. Similarly, George Clooney s (2005) American dramatic film, Good Night and Good Luck ,
in conjunction with Hughes poetry demonstrates how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of ironic imagery discharges an emotive, personal tone which in turn persuades the reader to
empathise with Hughes as he was dumbfounded afresh by Plath.
Consequently, individuals can be selective in their choices when representing a person, event or
situation and omit key elements, controlling the response of the responder. Similar to how Hughes
anthology, Birthday Letters , expressed through inherent subjectivity, George Clooney s 1950 s era,
Good Night and Good Luck, echoes this as he represents this idea through the media. Through filmic
devices, Clooney explores the tension between the perspectives of reporters at CBS and Senator
Joseph McCarthy in viewing McCarthy s actions as he, takes charge... of Communist infiltration . Just
as Hughes relationship with Plath raised questions from public opinion, but he dismisses their
viewpoints through his emotional poetry. Clooney uses Edward R. Murrow to expose Senator
McCarthy as a fear monger of communism in his television segment, See it Now , as he presents his
story from a low angle shot. This presents Murrow in a powerful position as he uses the media to
announce his perspective on McCarthy to the citizens of America. As he addresses the story about a

Campin s Painting Comparison
Both paintings focus around the same subject, Mary receiveing the news that she will be carrying
Jesus by the Archangel Gabriel. Angelico s painting is a very large fresco. The painting is so large that
Mary and Gabriel are almost life size. In comparison, Campin s painting is a triptych that is small and
a portable oil painting. This portability brings us into a new era, where people want this type of art in
their homes versus only being able to view them in a church. The left panel allows us to see the donors
being nosey, the middle panel is the scene of the annunciation, and the right panel gives us a look at
Joseph working. Both paintings have reflective qualities. In Angelico s painting Gabriel s wings are

Angelico keeps his painting very simplistic with no flash or Christian symbolism in it. Many think that
it is because of the location of the painting in a church. The area surrounding Gabriel and Mary is bare
and flat. The focus is strictly on Mary and Garbriel who are technically to large spacially. They would
not be able to move around in the area because of their size. Campin has created a piece that is full of
Christian symbolism. The flowers on the table, the tools that Joseph uses, and baby Jesus floating in
on sun rays heading toward Mary s womb are just a few examples. While Angelico kept his
background simple and plan, Campin uses a background that makes the painting relatable for the
viewer of that time. Campin uses a home that would have been modern and pays specific details to the
surroundings. The textures and amount of detail that Campin puts into his painting make it feel plush
and full of life. The candle stick, the vase, the wooden table and the surrounding wooden pieces in
Joseph s shop all show us the texture of the material. It almost makes you want to reach out and

The Theory Of Albert Einstein
¬¬Albert Einstein Biography Albert Einstein was a German American theoretical physicist, best
known for developing the general theories of relativity. He is largely considered the most influential
physicist of the 20th century. Earlier Years Einstein was born on March 14th, 1879, in Ulm,
Wurttemberg, Germany, to Herman Einstein, an electrochemical factory manager, and Pauline Koch, a
housewife. They were both Ashkenazi Jews, however they did not practice their religion (Whitaker).
Einstein had one other sister, Maria, who was 2 years younger than him. In 1880, the Einstein family
relocated to Munich, where Einstein s father founded an electrochemical company (Whitaker).
Education and Career Einstein s had a disrupted education, which was a result of his father s failing
business (Whitaker). He attended Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich between the ages of 10 and 15,
exhibiting a keen interest in mathematics, particularly geometry and calculus (Mannoury). He often
stated how he disliked the schools policy of strict memorization, promoting creative and philosophical
thinking. He had a very close relationship with Max Talmud, a medical student and family friend, who
introduced Einstein to further mathematics and philosophy (Mastin). For a year he was a student at the
Cantonal school in Aargau in Switzerland, and at age 17, he enrolled in the Swiss Federal Polytechnic

Periodontal Disease
Brodoski 1 Laura Brodoski English 102 Ms. Vatcher, MA 1 October 2002 Why Periodontal Disease
Should be a Concern to All. Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease or
gingivitis. This infection is serious enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This chronic
infection starts around the tooth and it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal disease can
affect anywhere from one tooth to all thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts with the plaque
that builds up on your teeth everyday. The plaque build up causes the gums to become red and
inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the remaining plaque will also cause the gums to bleed. This
stage of periodontal disease is commonly referred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another problem that periodontal disease is associated with is pre term births. It is estimated that ten
percent of all pre term babies have mothers with periodontal disease. It is easy to understand why
prevention and healing of this disease are so important. Prevention is the key with periodontal disease.
Proper brushing and flossing at least twice a day is recommended. If you like electric toothbrushes,
my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like Listerine is helpful as well. If you are
a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you continue to smoke. If you are pregnant,
make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do the same if you have heart disease. Make an
appointment every six months with your dental hygienist. Avoid sugary foods that encourage plaque
growth. Suckers and hard candies are the worst because they sit in your mouth. This gives the bacteria
and plaque plenty of time to grow. See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and
floss twice a day. If prevention is already too later and you¡¯ve been diagnosed with periodontal
disease there are ways to encourage healing. It is important to start or maintain daily flossing and
brushing. Most dentists will prescribe an antibiotic rinsing agent. You may get a referral to see a
periodontist. This is a professional trained in the Brodoski 4 dentistry of the supporting structures of

My Work Experience In High School Community
I sprinted into school and up four flights of stairs, and returned to the announcer s booth. When I
arrived, I was exhausted and disheveled, and worst of all the game had already begun. I turned the

that filled the crowd as my co announcer and I cracked corny jokes and encouraged everyone to cheer

London s Social Class in Robert Louis Stevenson Strange...
London s Social Class in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
One Victorian sentiment was that a civilized individual could be determined by her/his appearance.
This notion was readily adopted by the upper classes and, among other things, helped shape their
views of the lower classes, who certainly appeared inferior to them. In regards to social mobility,
members of the upper classes may have (through personal tragedy or loss) often moved to a lower
class status, but rarely did one see an individual move up from the abysmal lower class. Although
poverty could be found almost anywhere in Victorian London (one could walk along a street of an
affluent neighborhood, turn the corner, and find oneself in an area of depravity and decay), most upper

It was two storeys high. . . and bore in every feature, the marks of prolonged and sordid negligence. . .
Tramps slouched into the recess and struck matches on the panels; children kept shop upon the steps;
the schoolboy had tried his knife on the mouldings; and for close on a generation, no one had appeared
to drive away these random visitors to repair their ravages. (5)
This is the environment in which Stevenson places his novel, in which Hyde, the exemplification of
the East Ender, thrives and commits his heinous and unspoken acts.
If Hyde represents all that Victorian London characterized as the East End, then Henry Jekyll, in turn,
represents London s West End. As Hyde and Jekyll are dual natures of the same entity, then so are
London s East and West sides. Throughout the novel, Stevenson could be using the theme of duality to
represent the growing social and economic barriers that existed between these two parts of the city
especially during the 19th century. More importantly, if the novel can be interpreted as a homoerotic
commentary of 19th century London, then Stevenson could certainly be observing the obvious
increase of homosexuals in the East End, which incited fear and indignation from their more upper
class neighbors to the west.
The reason for Jekyll creating Hyde is to release these (his own) primitive urges and to allow them to
flourish unhindered by societal laws or mores. It

Free Expression Within The Soviet Union
Free Expression within the Soviet Union has been a contested idea over the past century of its
existence. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression
such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. However these limited
means that were deemed acceptable by the leaders were not what the general populace always wanted.
A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but
when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled.
That is exactly what happened to Soviet citizens brought up within their society that emphasized
uniformity as a way to unify its population in an ideological battle which forced its citizens to stay
within a Soviet framework. Rising out of Stalinist times, a youth movement stressing more open
freedom regarding culture and expression began to pick up steam before exploding in the 1980s under
Gorbachev. Movements in art, music, and literature contributed to the push towards glasnost. This
reform came about after decades of resistance to state control of culture and expression in the Soviet
Union through the early years(Lenin Stalin), middle years(Khrushchev Brezhnev), and the later
years(Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev).
During the early years of the Soviet Union, uniformity within the country was established under the
state but pockets of resistance remained nonetheless. The

Pros And Cons Of Fear Of Super Intelligence

superintelligence exists in our society. There is no doubt why people to be scared of this kind of

According to Arend Hintze, there are four different types of fear about artificial intelligence including
fear of unforeseen, fear of misuse, fear of wrong social priorities, and fear of the nightmare scenario;
the first fear being fear of unforeseen. Even if the designers of the superintelligence think they can
control what they have made, they might not understand what the machine is thinking. One of the
examples of the real world being AlphaGo, the computer program, have beaten the professional go
player from South korea, Lee Sedol, who is one of the best go players in the world. Go is one of the
most complex board games with the most simple rules where there are two players in which each one
of them takes turn placing one of the stones given (black or white) onto the 19 by 19 grid board. The
purpose of the game is to create as much territories surrounded by their own stones as possible. Once a
player s stones are circled by the other player s stones, those stones need to be removed from the
board. Since there is no artificial intelligence that have ever beat the brain of human before, the Alpha
go, which was developed by a team of twenty people, is considered one of the superintelligence.
These kinds of artificial intelligence system that can defeat human s brain could turn into something
scary in the future. Thus, humans should be aware of superintelligence and be responsible of what

Shakespeare s King Lear And Marlowe s Doctor Faustus
Shakespeare s King Lear and Marlowe s Doctor Faustus are two examples of early modern texts, one
a tragedy and the other a morality play respectively, which deal with the theme of power at the crux of
its narrative. Between both texts it is evident that different characters utilize their power or authority
differently some unwisely whilst some maliciously . In either case, the use of power progresses the
plays and drives the majority of main characters.
To begin with, both plays incorporate the conventions of an Aristotelian tragedy. One of Aristotle s
primary conventions of a tragedy in his Poetics, is the notion of hamartia where:
A man not outstanding in virtue or justice, brought down through vice or depravity, who falls into
adversity not through vice or depravity but because he errs in some way (Aristotle 2013, p. 32)
It can be argued that both Lear s and Faustus hamartia are intertwined in one way or another with
power. Lear s error of judgement is his hubris when he asks his daughters who doth love us most so he
can split up his kingdom so the largest bounty may extend where nature doth with merit challenge
(Shakespeare 2004, 1.1.50 52). Pride and vanity leads him to test his daughters and distributing his
kingdom. This is ultimately the starting point leading to the tragic consequences at the end of the play.
Similarly, Faustus shows excessive ambition in regards of knowledge and power O, what a world of

The Impact Of Tourism On Tourism Sector Essay
Tourism is one of the most important sectors that apply ICTs which already played a significant role in
this industry. It plays an important and vital role in the economic activity of Tunisia; it contributes to
budget balancing and solves many economic and social problems.
The Promotion of tourism services is the most important role that information and communications
technology contributes in the tourism sector. It ensures the task of delivering information for tourists
on tourism agencies and their programs and therefore promotes positive interaction between the tourist
and tourism organization. Digital services and mobile applications offered by ICTs assist tourists in
finding offers that meet their needs and individual preferences.
Information and communication technologies have a profound and positive impact on tourism in
Tunisia by opening outlets worldwide, improving information flow and realizing efficient gains
through better organization. The Internet, in particular, profoundly changed the distribution of tourism
products and services as well as market structure and consumer behavior. There is a growing
distribution channel, complementary to traditional channels to consumers, tourism enterprises such as
hotels, transport companies, and distributors, including travel agencies and tour operators. ICTs give
our country the opportunity to directly access international markets and promote a diversified tourism
offers using cultural and natural resources.

Siddhartha Vs. A Dolls House Essay
Though Siddhartha and A Doll s House share a completely different storyline, they are very much
similar because of the development of the main characters throughout the two stories. Nora, from the
play A Doll s House, changes her image after recognizing what kind of life she was living. Siddhartha,
from the book Siddhartha, becomes aware that life cannot be taught, and that it had to be experienced
first hand.
Both of the main characters seemed to have suddenly awakened from what I consider enslavement of
the mind. I believe this because they are not free to think about things without the influence of their
surrounding society. Nora notices that she is living her life in wretchedness at the end of the ... Show

Her father owned her and made her do everything he wanted, and now her husband is playing that
role. Her whole life seems to be awful, but then the plot thickens, and Nora awakens from her
everyday, coma of ignorance. Nora has morphed from a housewife into a liberated woman. These
changes occur throughout the three acts of A Doll s House, and are the basis of the play.
Nora, the innocent little housewife, starts off as a harmless little doll but soon changes. She is Torvald
s perfect wife in the beginning of the play, but little does he know that she has a mind of her own and
isn t really his little doll. The opening of Nora s ulterior personality starts when she opens up to Mrs.
Linde (Act 1). Nora bleeds to Mrs. Linde her financial problems with the trip that she spent two
hundred and fifty pounds on, on her husband. Being the reader, I was shocked to hear so knowing how
harmless and perfect Nora appeared to be. Then later on, the plot unfolds and reveals the incriminating
fact that Nora had been owing Krogstad this money the whole time and had been paying him back in
increments with the allowance given to her by Torvald. It is crazy that Nora had been so sneaky all
along and had been keeping it away from Torvald all along. Nora is then stuck in a dilemma when
Krogstad blackmailed her by telling her that she has to get his job back or he ll reveal the whole thing

Similarities Between American Revolution And Russian...
When in Russia, Do As the French Do Each country, society, and culture has a unique history, but how
unique it is, can easily be questioned. France and Russia have different geographic domains, peoples,
and cultures. However, their causes of revolution are similarly manifested in social political issues,
economic crisis, incompetent rulers, and enlightened ideas. Born out of the people s restlessness for
change, the French Revolution of 1789 and the Russian Revolution of 1917 were parallel in their
initial spark of revolution. The French and Russian Revolutions were both caused by social political
issues that stemmed from regimes incapable of change and founded on absolute tradition. Revolution

Nicholas was known to be narrow minded and weak willed. He hated politics and was dominated by
his wife, Tsarina Alexandra. Marie Antoinette was not the only queen with a famous and powerful
woman in her family. Alexandra s grandmother was Queen Victoria of England. Alexandra saw herself
as English, not French, and she had no desire to even learn the Russian language. Both Alexandra and
Marie Antoinette were hated because they were outsiders who could not sympathize with their people.
The scandal of Rasputin, the Siberian peasant who wandered into St. Petersburg, declaring himself a
healer and holy man, was seen by Alexandra as her miracle. Her son Alexi had hemophilia and she
eternally blamed herself for his heredity disease. In reality, Rasputin actually was able to stop the
ceaseless bleeding, but their friendship, and rumored affair, severed her relationship with the Russian
people, who knew that Rasputin was not a holy man, but an exploiter. Known for attending parties,
taking drugs, and being quite popular with the Russian ladies, the people knew his true identity.
Alexandra refused to believe anyone who spoke against Rasputin. She not only took his medicinal
advice, but extended his influence to the politics of the country, passing his political advice on to
Nicholas. During World War I, when Nicholas had gone to the Western front, Rasputin was sitting in
on cabinet meetings and even dismissing officials. Rasputin s voice spoke loud, while the Russian
people were not even allowed to speak. In the eyes of the Russian people, the Tsar and Tsarina did not
care about the fate of Russia. Louis XVI and Nicholas II were the last rulers of the countries that could
take no more. Agitation from the educated nobles inspired the people to act together and force the
abdication of Nicholas, thus ending three hundred years of Romanov rule (Reid). Enlightened ideas in

Pasteurization Is Not Sterilization Essay
1. Explain, in detail, the meaning of the following statement. Pasteurization is not sterilization
These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to
keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and
bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing
pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food
products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can survive.
However, they do not represent a health risk for consumers because theses prokaryotes are not
commonly pathogenic. Also, pasteurized foods are refrigerated right away and stored until
consumption. 2. Describe at least two methods of microbial control in depth and give examples of

Knee Flexion Contracture Essay
A.D.Van Velzen et al (2005) conducted an experiment to compare the outcome of early treatment

knee flexion contracture. In the research, the subjects were divided into three groups: (i) traditional
elastic bandaging (ii) immediate fitting method and (iii) delayed fitting method. In the first condition,
the stump of the subject was covered with a dressing bandage. Elastic bandaging was started once the
wound has healed and after the removal of stitches. The subject was fitted with a regular prosthesis

Effects On The Capital Market Union
Effects On the Capital Market Union Due to Brexit: Positive or Negative?
Fluctuations in the economy are normal anywhere in the world and have gone through multiple series
of highs and lows ever since scholars began the study of economics. One of the most well known
economic booms occurred when the Industrial Revolution began in the United Kingdom.
Coincidentally, the recently announcement of the exit of United Kingdom (UK) from the European
Union (EU) caused a great deal of uncertainty among investors across the world and this affected the
economy globally. It is not surprising to see that events happening in Europe can greatly affect the
stock markets around the world. The exit is confirmed after a referendum was held and passed
nationally where the count of votes to exit was higher than to remain in the European Union. An exit
from the EU is a first of its kind and will create a high degree of fluctuations in the economy
especially during the process of withdrawal. This will nonetheless disrupt the European Commission s
Capital Markets Union (CMU) plan which is what this paper is about. The European Commissions
introduced CMU to integrate capitals throughout the EU allowing the European Commission to
mobilize funds in attempt to build a more efficient Single Market. UK s exit will likely have negative
impacts on the CMU s plan since there will have to be restructuring of the plan depending on the
negotiations of exit between UK and the EU. Until we know where the UK and

Advanced Computational Problem Solving
My middle school self spent her evenings in front of a music stand for which she was already too tall.
I would dive into that week s clarinet etude, punctuating the tune with squeaks and wrong notes, still
full mentally and physically from the dinner table offerings, food and academic discussion. My
parents expected my sounds only to improve. But then, in grade ten, I attacked multiphonics, playing
more than one note at a time, and erased that hope for improvement. To make up for my inability to
master the technique, I became an expert on the theory, which surprisingly contained mathematical
concepts. Two notes that sound good together have very simple ratios of frequencies. The notes I d
play together probably had ratios somewhere around 453/920. But I liked the theory more anyway.
The noises made the math real. I started listening for matching frequencies, and would agitate my
band friends by blurting out fractions in the middle of songs.
In grade eleven I was accepted to a residential STEM high school on a college campus. While I

Good and Evil in Good Country People Essay
Good and Evil in Good Country People
In Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, the masked truth is reflected unequivocally through
the reality in the story, its equal counterpart. For every good or evil thing, there is an antagonist or
opposing force. Each character has a duplicate personality mirrored in someone else in the story.
In the story, the names and personalities of the characters clash. The name is the mask covering the
personality, which is representative of the reality aspect of each character. When Mrs. Hopewell
named her daughter Joy, she was hoping for all the joy that comes with raising a child and watching
the child develop a life of its own. What Mrs. Hopewell received was a disabled daughter who ...

qualifications to be a good country person. As she spends more time with Manley, and the story

open and honest with Manley. She tells him that there mustn t be anything dishonest between [them]

truth and reality are most obviously revealed through the character s souls. Mrs. Freeman, who had a

had an evil soul that was fortunately very passive in its actions (299). Mrs. Hopewell, on the other

Family Relationships With My Family
For two year, the first year my mother left dad, we lived with my maternal grandparents. Although, I
was toddler at the time I still acknowledge their efforts and support for a period my family needed it
the most. They occasionally visited for Christmas and for four of their granddaughters quince,
including mine. I visited them four times in Mexico. Because they live in Mexico is it hard to keep
constant contact with them. But they both had a huge influence and I have great respect for them.
When they visited Nebraska, they stayed in the household for a couples of weeks. The most important
extended family relationships are with my mom s sisters and brother who reside in Nebraska.
The most important relationship outside my immediate family is with my cousin Brenda because she
is my best friend. We are only three months apart from each other and have many similarities. We

U.s. Military Policy Policies
Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States, began his presidency dealing with many
foreign policy issues left behind by his predecessor, George Bush. President Bush was unable to solve
many foreign policy problems faced by our country prior to leaving office. Some of these included the
wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Arab Israeli conflict, illegal immigration, and improving U.S.
relations with Cuba. President Obama was faced with the question of how to handle the number troops
in Iraq and Afghanistan and ultimately how to end or lessen U.S. military involvement in these
nations. Similar to other presidents, President Obama had to tackle improving the relationship between
Arabs and Israelis. He was also faced with the problem of how to handle illegal immigrants and
border patrol. A weak relationship between the U.S. and Cuba was another foreign policy issue that
President Obama was faced with having to improve. This is President Obama s last year as president.
Overall, he has done a decent job with foreign policy, excelling in some areas, and falling short in
others.

Weather plays an important role in emphasising the effect and mood of a scene in any piece of

it was a dark, stormy night while something horrific was taking place during a scene in a movie. The
audience is going to feel more intrigued and involved in the scene based off of the surrounding

Peritoneal Dialysis Research Paper
Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement is a surgery to insert a thin, flexible tube (catheter) in your
abdomen. This surgery must be done before you begin peritoneal dialysis. Dialysis is a treatment that
replaces some of the work that healthy kidneys do. During dialysis, wastes, salt, and extra water are
removed from the blood. In peritoneal dialysis, these tasks are performed by transferring a fluid called
dialysate to and from your abdomen during each session. The fluid goes through the catheter to enter
the abdomen at the start of each dialysis session, and it drains out of the body through the catheter at
the end of each session.

out the window in the den for what seemed like hours waiting for her letter to arrive. The mailman
carried a blue umbrella covering his bag full of envelopes. He looked rather young. He attempted to

Radio Frequency Identification Is Important For Airport...
abrownBUS310_101615. Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) should implement
radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in the airport s baggage handling operations for a variety of
reasons. First, implementing this system will be beneficial to airport workers, travelers, and the
airlines. Second, the cost of lost luggage fees and millions of dollars being spent in reimbursements
will be significantly reduced. Third, the overall control of luggage will be more efficient and effective.
Fourth, traveler satisfaction will improve, as the luggage process will be hassle free. In order for the
RFID tagging system to properly function, it is important for the airport to make an effective plan.
Planning which is, choosing a goal and developing a strategy to achieve that goal, (Williams, 2015,
p.4) is an approach that will benefit all involved. In this case specifically, it will benefit the airport
workers, travelers, and the airlines themselves. The amount of customer service representatives it
takes to handle all aspects of the baggage process is very large. From customer service representatives
taking complaints, to tracking and identifying lost luggage, you name it, it is imperative to have a staff
member available at all times. Today s automated baggage handling systems play a critical role in
alleviating the pressures played on ground support personnel and in helping them increase customer
satisfaction (Heacock, 2005, p.1). With this, implementing RFID s in

The American Economy Is Characterized By A Free Market System
The American economy is characterized by a free market system also known as capitalism. The basic
tenet of which is that economic transactions are determined in the private sector and that assets and
resources are held privately. There are many different economic models that can be used in a country
but no country has a purely simplistic style but rather has a mixed model. A mixed model
encompasses components of each different model. The U.S. currently dominates the world economy
and by doing so has popularized the free market model. However, the U.S. model has not been
without fault or periodic boom and bust cycles. In the 1930s the U.S. saw its most severe economic
recession also called The Great Depression. This depression saw unemployment at a staggering 25%
at its height . As a result of this depression, the U.S. economy had a paradigm shift in which the
dominant school of economic thought shifted from classical economics to Keynesian economics. The
end result was that the U.S. economy was ultimately made stronger and the policies that we adopted
became entrenched in our system of economic thought. Recently, the U.S. and world economy

The company was eventually acquired by Warren Buffet through a series of stock purchases. In was in 1996 that Warren Buffet purchased the remaining GEICO stock making the company a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. GEICO is one of the country leaders in marketing budgets reaching a ground breaking 1 billion expenditures in 2012 according to(http://www.insurancejournal.com). The social media outlet that where most commonly used at this time was Facebook. There was often free merchandise to encourage people to post pictures of themselves with the gecko. One event was the New York comic con in 2014 there where raffles and a 3d image capture of you in a GEICO backdrop(https://www.geico.com/more/geico community/news events/geico takes on new york comic con/). To enter into the contest, you would post the picture and hash tag the image and the winners were selected from this group of posters. • 3. Magnet School Research Thousands of students are gifted who are looking for a better education to suit their learning needs. Magnet schools are the solution to this problem. Magnet schools are academically selective public schools which can teach students on a particular focus such as math and science, but can improve by providing students an enhanced learning experience by changing the modern day classroom. Just by changing how the modern day classroom runs, students can learn more efficiently and be more likely to behave and be more successful in life. Magnet schools are public schools with specialized curriculums and classes. The magnet in magnet school refers to bringing students across the normal boundaries given by officials ( A Brief History of Magnet Schools ). Most magnet schools in America are academically selective ( Magnet School Wikipedia). They usually have a narrow focus such as math and science opposed to regular public schools that have a more generalized focus. Other than providing gifted students a more academically in depth education, magnet schools are also built to avoid racial discrimination in some areas of the nation. Applications are usually required to get into magnet schools and programs. They sometimes require an entrance examination, interview, or audition. • 4. Essay on Privacy Infringements through the Internet Today in society, people are expected to be able to protect their own privacy, but the very definition of privacy states that it is in no way completely attainable, nor will it ever be. And why would people want that when it has been proven that to achieve absolute privacy would mean to forfeit a place in society (Nehf)? But in recent years, privacy infringements through the Internet have gotten out of hand. Until privacy becomes a principal concern for Internet users, they remain unsafe, easy targets for deceitful scammers, other users, data collectors, and more. There are many problems surrounding the Internet and its current privacy systems, one of the biggest ones being the current user accountability arrangement. Currently, ... Many schools and organizations observe signs of Cyber bullying, but the Fourth Amendment banning illegal search and seizure prevents them from taking further action. Privacy infringements through the Internet are publicly viewed as the work of evil, foul criminals. But what if the person violating your privacy is your best friend? In many situations a violation of privacy is an embarrassing wall post or a mean video or tweet. This is a specifically hurtful instance because it is much more difficult to confront a friend instead of a faceless online perpetrator. Moreover, many individuals are perfectly will to violate their own privacy through revealing photos and the sharing of too much personal information, all for the sake of attention (Subrahmanyam). In 2010, there were several research studies done on Internet privacy, one of which being the amount of information that could be procured on a specific person in only 30 minutes of investigating them online (Kasper). Mpaa s Rating System In This Film Is Not Yet Rated The 2006 film, This Film is Not Yet Rated , argues that the Motion Picture Association of America s (MPAA s) rating system for films is a form of censorship with underlying purposes. The rating system s purposes as the film presents include profit, box office numbers, image, control and company interest. The film presents its thesis with facts, independent investigation and commentary by people within the film industry and those that the MPAA s film rating system directly affects. The film makes a persuasive argument that the MPAA s rating system is a form of censorship. The enemies of movies and ratings include Jack Valenti, Joan Graves and the MPAA. Valenti is the overseer of the MPAA and Graves is the head of the MPAA review board. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This affirmation is not too unbelievable because Valenti comes from Washington according to the film. It is not absurd for Valenti and the MPAA to have acquaintances that have specific interest that Valenti and the MPAA try to fulfill. In doing so Valenti and the MPAA may receive legislation in their favor or funding from his acquaintances. Dick reveals another facet of his argument to the viewers when he examines who is on the board of appeals of movie ratings at the MPAA. This board decides if a movie rating should be appealed on a case by case basis. The appeals board is made of many people. An Overview Of Food Safety Essay An Overview of Food Safety Unsafe food has been a human health problem since history was first recorded, and many food safety problems encountered today are not new. Although governments all over the world are doing their best to improve the safety of the food supply, the occurrence of foodborne disease remains a significant health issue in both developed and developing countries as stated by WHO (2006). Food safety concept is that food will not harm the consumer so long as intended use guidelines are followed when it is prepared or eaten. Conversely, food is potentially harmful whenever it has been exposed to hazardous agents and intended use guidelines have not been followed (ISO 22000, 2005). York et al. He states, high poverty schools across the nation have been forced to narrow the curriculum much more drastically than wealthier schools with worse consequences for low income students. While their more affluent peers may routinely visit museums or other cultural resources, many poor urban and rural students rely on their teachers to expose them to the kind of background knowledge that is essential to subject mastery. Based on that opinion, he goes on to state that ironically the social justice intended by the No Child Left Behind Act has instead created further social injustice. Walker writes that an additional inconvenient truth of all this is that the impacts are irreversible, While no one discounts the very real problem of students who can t read or do basic math, defenders of the status quo often claim that glossing over science, arts and social studies is merely a fleeting elementary school experience later to be recouped in middle and later high school. Hughes 20th century confessional poems, Fulbright Scholars and Your Paris offers a perspective on his tempestuous relationship with Plath, persuading the reader that he was the victim suffocating under Plath s mental instability. If you like electric toothbrushes, my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like Listerine is helpful as well. If you are a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you continue to smoke. If you are pregnant, make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do the same if you have heart disease. This gives the bacteria and plaque plenty of time to grow. See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and floss twice a day. London s Social Class in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde One Victorian sentiment was that a civilized individual could be determined by her/his appearance. This notion was readily adopted by the upper classes and, among other things, helped shape their views of the lower classes, who certainly appeared inferior to them. In regards to social mobility, members of the upper classes may have (through personal tragedy or loss) often moved to a lower class status, but rarely did one see an individual move up from the abysmal lower class. Although poverty could be found almost anywhere in Victorian London (one could walk along a street of an affluent neighborhood, turn the corner, and find oneself in an area of depravity and decay), most upper class ... (5) This is the environment in which Stevenson places his novel, in which Hyde, the exemplification of the East Ender, thrives and commits his heinous and unspoken acts. If Hyde represents all that Victorian London characterized as the East End, then Henry Jekyll, in turn, represents London s West End. As Hyde and Jekyll are dual natures of the same entity, then so are London s East and West sides. Throughout the novel, Stevenson could be using the theme of duality to represent the growing social and economic barriers that existed between these two parts of the city especially during the 19th century. More importantly, if the novel can be interpreted as a homoerotic commentary of 19th century London, then Stevenson could certainly be observing the obvious increase of homosexuals in the East End, which incited fear and indignation from their more upper class neighbors to the west. Within legal boundaries Russians were restricted to state sponsored means of expression such as journal writing, classical music, or state censored literature and media. However these limited means that were deemed acceptable by the leaders were not what the general populace always wanted. A system that pushes for freedom and uniformity throughout its population doesn t sound too bad but when that uniformity is pressed upon the individual s personality; freedom of expression is stifled. That is exactly what happened to Soviet citizens brought up within their society that emphasized uniformity as a way to unify its population in an ideological battle which forced its citizens to stay within a Soviet framework. Rising out of Stalinist times, a youth movement stressing more open freedom regarding culture and expression began to pick up steam before exploding in the 1980s under Gorbachev. Movements in art, music, and literature contributed to the push towards glasnost. This reform came about after decades of resistance to state control of culture and expression in the Soviet Union through the early years(Lenin Stalin), middle years(Khrushchev Brezhnev), and the later years(Andropov, Chernenko, Gorbachev). Shakespeare s King Lear And Marlowe s Doctor Faustus Shakespeare s King Lear and Marlowe s Doctor Faustus are two examples of early modern texts, one a tragedy and the other a morality play respectively, which deal with the theme of power at the crux of its narrative. Between both texts it is evident that different characters utilize their power or authority differently some unwisely whilst some maliciously . In either case, the use of power progresses the plays and drives the majority of main characters. To begin with, both plays incorporate the conventions of an Aristotelian tragedy. One of Aristotle s primary conventions of a tragedy in his Poetics, is the notion of hamartia where: A man not outstanding in virtue or justice, brought down through vice or depravity, who falls into adversity not through vice or depravity but because he errs in some way (Aristotle 2013, p. 32) It can be argued that both Lear s and Faustus hamartia are intertwined in one way or another with power. Lear s error of judgement is his hubris when he asks his daughters who doth love us most so he can split up his kingdom so the largest bounty may extend where nature doth with merit challenge (Shakespeare 2004, 1.1.50 52). Pride and vanity leads him to test his daughters and distributing his kingdom. This is ultimately the starting point leading to the tragic consequences at the end of the play. (2008) wrote a case study report to explain the benefits of using a dynamic splint for knee flexion contracture patient after TKA as an add on treatment with the physiotherapy in reducing the knee flexion contracture. In the experiment, physiotherapy was the primary intervention for the patient after one month of TKA surgery. The exercises that were prescribed to the patient includes a combination of ROM, closed and open kinetic chain strengthening exercises and balance exercises that involve trunk and lower limb muscles. Following the 28 physiotherapy sessions, a DS was prescribed to the patient to wear at night time (while sleeping) in order to increase the patient s time at total end range of knee extension. DS act as a second intervention in reducing the knee flexion contracture in the patient. He explained the benefit of using dynamic splinting to reduce the contracture of the knee and achieve full knee extension after a TKA due to its low load and prolonged stretching duration with the dynamic tension provided by the splint. • 26. Effects On The Capital Market Union Effects On the Capital Market Union Due to Brexit: Positive or Negative? Fluctuations in the economy are normal anywhere in the world and have gone through multiple series of highs and lows ever since scholars began the study of economics. One of the most well known economic booms occurred when the Industrial Revolution began in the United Kingdom. Coincidentally, the recently announcement of the exit of United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) caused a great deal of uncertainty among investors across the world and this affected the economy globally. It is not surprising to see that events happening in Europe can greatly affect the stock markets around the world. The exit is confirmed after a referendum was held and passed nationally where the count of votes to exit was higher than to remain in the European Union. An exit from the EU is a first of its kind and will create a high degree of fluctuations in the economy especially during the process of withdrawal. This will nonetheless disrupt the European Commission s Capital Markets Union (CMU) plan which is what this paper is about. The European Commissions introduced CMU to integrate capitals throughout the EU allowing the European Commission to mobilize funds in attempt to build a more efficient Single Market. UK s exit will likely have negative impacts on the CMU s plan since there will have to be restructuring of the plan depending on the negotiations of exit between UK and the EU. Until we know where the UK and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Advanced Computational Problem Solving My middle school self spent her evenings in front of a music stand for which she was already too tall. I would dive into that week s clarinet etude, punctuating the tune with squeaks and wrong notes, still full mentally and physically from the dinner table offerings, food and academic discussion. My parents expected my sounds only to improve. But then, in grade ten, I attacked multiphonics, playing more than one note at a time, and erased that hope for improvement. To make up for my inability to master the technique, I became an expert on the theory, which surprisingly contained mathematical concepts. Two notes that sound good together have very simple ratios of frequencies. The notes I d play together probably had ratios somewhere around 453/920. But I liked the theory more anyway. The noises made the math real. I started listening for matching frequencies, and would agitate my band friends by blurting out fractions in the middle of songs. Good and Evil in Good Country People Essay Good and Evil in Good Country People In Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, the masked truth is reflected unequivocally through the reality in the story, its equal counterpart. For every good or evil thing, there is an antagonist or opposing force. Each character has a duplicate personality mirrored in someone else in the story. In the story, the names and personalities of the characters clash. The name is the mask covering the personality, which is representative of the reality aspect of each character. Mrs. Hopewell comes across as very sincere and earnest. She tells Manley up front that she didn t want a Bible and he might as well put those up (302). She didn t mislead him in any way. Joy Hulga also demonstrates her qualifications to be a good country person. As she spends more time with Manley, and the story develops, she shows her genuine self that she has been trying to hide behind Hulga. She becomes very open and honest with Manley. She tells him that there mustn t be anything dishonest between [them] (307). She also shows how simple, or innocent, she really is. She, despite having a Ph.D. in psychology, is very naive to the way people behave. She is clueless about Manley s real intentions with her. He had met her the day before and had already proclaimed his love to her. She reveals her innocence when she asks him Aren t you, aren t you just good country people? (309). The masked truth and reality are most obviously revealed through the character s souls. Mrs. Freeman, who had a special fondness for the details of secret infections, hidden deformities, [and] assaults upon children, had an evil soul that was fortunately very passive in its actions (299). Mrs. Hopewell, on the other hand, had no bad qualities of her own (298). Her soul was passively good. The two most important souls in the story Good Country People belong to Joy Hulga and ... The audience is going to feel more intrigued and involved in the scene based off of the surrounding weather. If a horrific scene was happening and it had a bright sunny day without a single cloud in the sky. Along with the hot, sunny day, tension is already being recorded and noted while the characters know that blood is going to be spilled today. This surgery must be done before you begin peritoneal dialysis. Dialysis is a treatment that replaces some of the work that healthy kidneys do. In peritoneal dialysis, these tasks are performed by transferring a fluid called dialysate to and from your abdomen during each session. The fluid goes through the catheter to enter the abdomen at the start of each dialysis session, and it drains out of the body through the catheter at the end of each session. Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) should implement radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in the airport s baggage handling operations for a variety of reasons. First, implementing this system will be beneficial to airport workers, travelers, and the airlines. Second, the cost of lost luggage fees and millions of dollars being spent in reimbursements will be significantly reduced. Third, the overall control of luggage will be more efficient and effective. Fourth, traveler satisfaction will improve, as the luggage process will be hassle free. In order for the RFID tagging system to properly function, it is important for the airport to make an effective plan. Planning which is, choosing a goal and developing a strategy to achieve that goal, (Williams, 2015, p.4) is an approach that will benefit all involved. The basic tenet of which is that economic transactions are determined in the private sector and that assets and resources are held privately. There are many different economic models that can be used in a country but no country has a purely simplistic style but rather has a mixed model. A mixed model encompasses components of each different model. The U.S. currently dominates the world economy and by doing so has popularized the free market model. However, the U.S. model has not been without fault or periodic boom and bust cycles. In the 1930s the U.S. saw its most severe economic recession also called The Great Depression. This depression saw unemployment at a staggering 25% at its height . As a result of this depression, the U.S. economy had a paradigm shift in which the dominant school of economic thought shifted from classical economics to Keynesian economics. The end result was that the U.S. economy was ultimately made stronger and the policies that we adopted became entrenched in our system of economic thought. Recently, the U.S. and world economy experienced a global economic recession in 2008 that was considered by some to be the worst economic crisis to plague the U.S., and ultimately the rest of the world, since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
