Analysis Of Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In Madame Bovary, Flaubert writes a couple of major moments in very brief and plain ways. What
Flaubert does for these moments is build up our expectations of what we think is going to happen long
before it actually occurs so that when the moment nears, he can make the current buildup and the
moment itself quick and plain. This is so that we are emotionally detached from it and the character s
experience and ours do not mix. One passage where this happens is near the beginning of part 3, on
page 208, where Emma is having a conversation with Leon. The passage is With a slight shrug, Emma
interrupted him to lament the illness during which she had nearly died; what a shame! she would no
longer be suffering now. Leon immediately envied the tranquillity of the grave, and one night he had
even written his will, requesting that he be buried in that beautiful coverlet, with its bands of velvet,
that she had given him; for this was the way they would have liked to be they were both creating for
themselves an ideal against which they were not adjusting their past lives. Besides. speech is a rolling
press that always amplifies one s emotions. But at this invention concerning the coverlet: Why? she
asked. Why? . He hesitated. Because I loved you so much! And, applauding himself for having gotten
past the difficult part, Leon watched her expression from the corner of his eye. Leon s confession is
heavily set up by the passages that came before it instead of sentences

Harriet Jacobs, Wheatley, And Olaudah Equiano
Throughout the years, many people have attempted to portray the hardships and struggles of slaves
based on what they learned or what they might have been taught. But realistically, there is no way for
anyone to understand the lives that many blacks were forced into because they have never actually
experienced it themselves. During slavery, blacks were separated from their families and pushed into a
lifestyle that was dehumanizing and depressing. Their everyday lives were being watched and harsh
punishments were being given for reasons that were unethical. Harriet Jacobs, Phyllis Wheatley, and
Olaudah Equiano wrote about the different struggles that they faced as slaves in order to give readers
an understanding from their point of view. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this line, she is speaking on the fact the she was taken from her home in Africa and brought to
America. For a little over four hundred years, many Africans were seized from their homes and
transported to America. In America, they were forced to work on plantations and mines. Slaves were
also not allowed to learn how to read because many white were afraid that if they learned how to read
they would eventually get to freedom. From day to day, slaves grew crops, took care of animals and
served their owners for sometimes up to eighteen hours a day. The hard work of these slaves serve as a
shrine for the enormous wealth that is still enjoyed by many Europeans and Americans. In her poem,
Wheatley also says Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain, May be refin d, and join th angelic

Protocols In Emergency Medical Services
In the world of emergency medical services (EMS), first responders face many challenges. Most of
these are well known by the general public, such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from
difficult calls, meeting financial needs, and working long hours. What is not known by many is that
first responders also face the challenging task of learning and remembering an extensive list of
protocols for the state they work in. I remember starting my emergency medical technician (EMT)
class a little over a year ago and feeling overwhelmed when I discovered I had to learn these on top of
all of the information I was taking in an already hard class. I face this again now, being a paramedic
student at Pennsylvania College of Technology. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

carry them (American College of Emergency Physicians, 2016). Protocols are also updated annually
in order to include, exclude, or reword various parts in which editing is deemed needed. An example
would be PA s 2017 basic life support (BLS) protocol update in which it the BLS scope of practice
was expanded to include the use of glucometers to measure blood glucose levels (Pennsylvania
Department of Health, 2017, p. 59). This is can be vital in determining the seriousness of a patient s
condition. TRANSITION. While protocols are needed and are currently revised every so often, there
are some revisions that should be made that have not been yet. One of the greatest injustices in today s
society is caused by protocols. First responders are taught to maintain a standard of quality care,
which means that all patients are supposed to receive the best care possible no matter what. This
includes disregarding one s personal views on gender, race, and other things. Unfortunately, this does
not occur to the extent that it should. For example, in PA s cardiac arrest protocols outline the use of
mechanical CPR devices, such as the Lund University Cardiac Arrest System (LUCAS) Device
(Pennsylvania Department of Health, 2017, p. 69 72). This device performs compressions for the care
provider and has been proven to increase the survivability of patients in

The Barbie Doll s Role Model For Young Girls
Valeria Lukyanova, a 31 one year old woman who at a younger age began to starve herself to achieve
Barbie like body portions. This is just one example of many women and girls who make unhealthy
decisions to attain unrealistic body images. Barbie affects the way girls believe their body should look
and their self worth through her unrealistic body shape, and ideals.
Slumber Party Barbie
Barbie is bad role model for young girls because she represents ideas that can be harmful for children.
According to the Huffington Post Now, courtesy of a 1965 era Barbie, comes another outlandish idea
to help keep the pounds off: starvation. We ve always known Mattel s iconic Barbie doll may not be
the most healthful source for advice on keeping a trim figure, but the Slumber Party Barbie, produced
in the mid 1960s, really takes the cake. Among the doll s accessories are a small plastic scale
permanently set to 110 lbs., and a diet book titled How To Lose Weight, .... The diet book s only
advice? DON T EAT! . (Grenoble, p.3) This Barbie doll confers young girls with the idea of self
starvation through her unhealthy accessories like her scale and diet book. This Barbie doll also shows
that she has self esteem issues if she worries about how much she weighs and whether or not refusing
to eat will be harmful. If this is the message that Barbie gives little girls then she is not a good figure
for them to look up to.

The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education
In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly impossible to avoid the
topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education system in Ontario likely has strong
opinions about the value of being able to speak both English and French fluently. Those opinions may
be strengthened further once a resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational
stream to apply their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are
already learning their native language and English when they arrive, and then they may be required
start learning French as well. Along with these social implications of bilingual learning, there are also
psychological issues that come up. There are helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result
from trying to learn two languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the
drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process.
Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be incredibly adaptable
and responsive. This means that their executive control system is much more stimulated while
learning than that of their fellow students who participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed
the case, it could also be that this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a
program an advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of the

Ictober Research Papers
The ink left nothing untouched, staining and smudging the table, scratch paper, and even my hand. A
mess of paper and ink surrounded me, but only one area was left organized. My sketchbook that I
filled with meticulous work and effort for the past 30 days stared back at me. Thirty days of work
filled the sketchbook to the brim, both the good and bad. I finally finished the final piece I had
completed InkTober.
InkTober is a social media phenomenon that took the artist world by storm. For every day of October,
you are to make one drawing that incorporates ink in its media. The theme or subject of drawing is
completely up to the artist, as long as the piece has ink colored or black then it fits right into InkTober.
Then, once you re satisfied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of my pieces consisted of fanart or simple original pieces exploring inking styles. I admittedly
favored one series, Love Live!, over the others, but I was grateful for the inspiration. Some drawings I
practiced perspective and colors, like the first and fourth day respectively, others I tested styles of
shading and texture. Going from a pencil sketch, to simple lining, and finally to detailed inking was a
fulfilling experience.
I would finish inking the drawing for the day and quickly sketch an outline for the following day in
pencil. This schedule was helpful and time efficient since the most time consuming part of drawing is
figuring out what to draw and how to start it. However, I could only do this due to the leniency of my
school schedule and sparse amount of homework at that time. So when work started picking up at
school two weeks into October, it became a struggle to finish one day s drawing, not to mention
preparing for the following days.
The output and quality of my art in the middle of the month took a drop as I began studying for tests,
in class writings, and the PSAT. It was at this time that Inktober became a real challenge. Not only do
you have to plan and compose a drawing, but you have to manage your schedule and make time to do
so. Unlike professional artists or people with flexible jobs, students are hard pressed with their school
schedule and extracurricular

Perfectionism As A Dynamic And Multifaceted Personality Trait
Introduction Perfectionism has been in a centre of attention of sport psychologists for last few decades
and even though a research boom already provided many interesting findings, the topic offers plenty
of other areas to investigate. Number of different ways in which perfectionism is conceptualized and
measured is one of the biggest challenges when designing research in this field (Hill, Appleton Hall,
2014). Nevertheless, when going through various sources, we can see a common point of view among
researches looking at perfectionism as a multidimensional and multifaceted personality trait
characterized by imposing high standards on oneself with the tendency to engage in overly and
unrealistic critical evaluations of one s achievement (Cumming Duda, 2012; Flett Hewitt, 2002).
Individual s need for flawlessness (perfection) and setting of excessively high standards of
performance accompanied by tendencies for extremely critical evaluation of one s performance are the
core of this phenomenon (Stoeber Otto, 2006). In general population, perfectionism is usually
perceived as a negative psychological phenomenon leading to other unfavourable results (e.g.
experiencing high level of stress). This extremely polarized attitude used to be also kept by many
researchers connecting perfectionism with psychopathology outcomes. For a long time, one
dimensional concept of perfectionism dominated whole research area. Later on, two basic approaches
to conceptualize the

LIFE AND PHILOSOPHY OF J.D. SALINGER
J.D. Salinger is one of the most renowned writers of his time. J. D. Salinger is most known for his
controversial in the Catcher in the Rye. Salinger is also known for many of his writings such as
Franney and Zooey, Nine Stories, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. The summer of 1930 he
was voted The Most Popular Writer . Salinger is a beautifully deft, professional who gives us a chance
to catch quick, half amused, half frightened glimpses of ourselves and our contemporaries, as he
confronts us with his brilliant mirror images (Lomazoff 1). In the novel, Catcher in the Rye, there is a

In the mid 1940 s Zen Buddhism began to influence Salinger s life and writings. Also, in the early 50 s
Salinger met frequently met with teenagers while writing Catcher. These influences, and also the fact
that he was an unknown writer made him free from clichés and slogans that the rest of the world fell
prey to. Salinger only seeked independence, growth, and stability in his life. Because Salinger was not
a renowned writer, he did not have to worry about meeting expectations or censorship. Salinger would
never try to censor himself, and felt that he should not have to. He frequently speaks of a phony
society in which we all live in and in order to be accepted into the adult world, we must become a
phony . Being a phony meaning, adjusting yourself to become what is socially acceptable even though
it may not be what you desire to achieve.
His work is a unique phenomenon, important as the voice of a silent generation in revolt against a
phony world and in search of mystical escapes from a deteriorating society rather than causes
promising political revolution or reform (French 4).
Many of Salingers views for The Catcher in the Rye come from his intense hatred for hypocrisy. In the
novel, Holden Caulfield feels that he must not submit to the phoniness of life, but attain an attitude of
tolerance, understanding, and live which will make his life endurable.

PRODUCTS, TARGET MARKET AND MARKETING CHANNELS
The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries forms one of the most diversified worldwide
entertainment company in the world, with operations in five different areas:
1. Media Networks: this sector includes cable and broadcast television networks, television production
operations and distribution, domestic and international television stations and radio operations. The
cable networks include the ESPN, a channel that present many types of sports, the Disney Channels,
channels that target children and teenagers, and ABC Family, a network that have teenagers and adults
as target market. The Company also have operations in the Hungama and UTV/ Bindass cable
channels in India. This huge diversification in their media networks provide then the opportunity to
reach many people that already are clients or have the potential to become clients of the Disney
products, as an example of the diversity that the Disney network can act, we can highlight: ESPN, that
present a high variety of sport entertainment and have a target market of people of 15 years and older,
the Disney channels, that includes more of one hundred channels available in thirty four languages
and have presence in 163 countries, has as a target market kids ages 2 to 14, and the ABC Family, that

Technological Evolution in the Film Industry Essay
As times are changing, knowledge and information are also changing. With that, the development of
motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological evolution. It is
evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The intricacy of filmmaking
technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for filmmakers. Films are often due to
technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story. Some examples of films that have been
remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998.
King Kong (1933) is another example of a film that has been remade. The remake, King Kong (2005),

The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the
actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the
actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery
(CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative.
Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and
the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is
placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green
hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her.
Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be
constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in
both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological
advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story.
Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King
Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the
emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge

It is believed that the majority American public hold the beliefs that the mentally ill are unpredictable,
irrational, dangerous, bizarre, incompetent, and unkempt , and these stereotypes have only
strengthened from the 1950s to the present. (Thoits, 2011) Despite educational campaigns, there is still
a strong desire among the public to keep a social distance from the mentally ill in an attempt to avoid
awkward social interactions. Studies have shown that there s a direct correlation between
discrimination and low self esteem issues among mental patients. Low self esteem is also linked to
negative health effects. Not all patients who experienced social rejection report a low self worth. It is
stated that patients who experienced social rejection already demonstrated low self worth and self
esteem issues. Some studies even find that stigmatized patients have a very high self esteem. (Thoits,
2011) A study done by National Alliance for the Mentally Ill consumers, Wahl (1999) expressed that
eighteen percent of the sample took the stigma as a form of empowerment. Another study done by

Environmental Ethics And Aldo Leopold s Land Ethics
Wolves certainly are one of the most beautiful and high in the food chain predators. And it was almost
30,000 BCE when mankind first decided to change those creatures path: we domesticated then, used
them for transportation and, today, we call their latest offspring our best friends. If we treat our
puppies like human babies nowadays, some almost a hundred years ago we were barbaric in our way
to treat Yellowstone National Park s wolves: we decimated the park s wolf population with the goal to
protect park s visitors. What was clearly an anthropocentrist act is now being corrected by the
reintroduction of wild wolves into the park s ecosystem; based on Aldo Leopold s Land Ethics, I
believe that choice was an assertive one. Humans should do everything in their power to exercise their
unique rationalization capacity by valuing other creatures and promoting the equilibrium between men
and nature. As a trained forester who went through the Great Depression od 1929, Aldo Leopold
avidly wrote about all the ways he believed humans had failed nature in the exploitation of its
resources; he was the first one who discussed the importance of respecting nature and keeping it wild.
For this reason, the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy points the author as the father of all
environmental ethics; his writings influenced all the biggest discussions of expansion of intrinsic value
to any form of life and non living things, that is, theories against anthropocentrism ( Environmental

Carmen Essay
Themes of Seduction and Corruption in Carmen
Si je t aime; prends garde à toi! This ending line from one of the most famous arias in music history,
The Habanera, is one of its most literal. It translates to if you love me, guard yourself! , a fitting
exclamation from the titular character Carmen. She has often been described as a femme fatale, a
mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, though others urge audiences to
view Carmen as the emotional, vulnerable woman beyond that. In general, Georges Bizet s opera
Carmen has been called one of the most seductive operas of all time, despite being a controversial,
hostily received tragedy during Bizet s time. The opera, based on the novella Carmen by Prosper
Mérimée, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carmen herself is at once the battlefield, the enemy, and the prize, and José and the rest of the
characters are the ones warring over her. Carmen plays a game, the rules of which she had no part in
writing. The men offer her love, but love here means sexual objectification, loss of individual identity,
and submission to men. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze
as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through
death. Other sources, however, cite Carmen as a demon, a predatory siren who lures men to their
destruction, an objectification of manipulative, destructive, female sexuality... an animal, a devil .
Women, in general, were often portrayed as an enemy in different artistic realms during this time. In
Balzac s Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes, the character Esther, a courtesan who commits suicide,
is identified by Balzac as a Jew and describes her as Oriental, mysterious, pagan, [and] sexually
promiscuous, a diabolical, sadistic serpent, and as a demon without pity. Carmen as a gypsy is
considered disorderly, violent, law breaking, diabolical, and generally uncivilized. (Due to the word

scattering problems that arise in microwave imaging for localization of suspicious tissue regions as
well as to estimate the shapes and dielectric properties of potentially malignant lesions within highly

The technique used for detection in microwave imaging is based on the contrast in the dielectric
properties between healthy and malignant breast tissues. Breasts consist of a mixture of fatty, adipose,
epithelial and connective tissues. Dense breast tissue results from a large percentage of epithelial and
connective tissues, collectively referred to as fibro glandular tissues.
It is well established from radiographic images that malignant breast tumours have irregular spiculated
shapes and usually hide inside healthy fibro glandular regions.
The challenge faced by any existing imaging is to distinguish the malignant breast tissues from
healthy fibro glandular tissue regions. Another compelling potential application is the characterization
of the relative density of tissues in a healthy breast using microwave imaging as the high breast
density is strongly correlated with cancer risk. The breast density estimation via microwave imaging
can help to identify high risk subjects before cancer has manifested. In addition, microwave imaging
can also be used in monitoring the response of a tumour to other treatment protocols. These require
dielectric mapping of the breast in addition to localization of malignant tissue. 2. AIMS AND

This project will make a significant contribution to knowledge in the modelling and design of a non

Analysis Of Willy Loman
Great writers develop great character. In Death of a Salesman , Arthur Miller takes the life of an elder
man, Willy Loman, and reveals Willy s past through his flashbacks to show a character downfall.
Willy Loman strives to become a successful salesman and for people to like him very much, but as
Willy gets older the business world changes and Willy s once successful business life goes downhill.
Through Willy, Miller portrays an unsuccessful American dream. With the downfall of Willy Loman,
along with the characterization of Willy Loman, the symbols, and the irony in Death of a Salesman ;
Arthur Miller presents the American dream of Willy Loman, to become prosperous as a salesman
through his kind heart, and also shows how not all American dreams turn out successful.
Miller characterizes Willy Loman to further develop his character and the understanding of Willy s
American dream to expand the plot. When Charley offers Willy a job, Willy turns it down then tells
Charley After all the highways, and the trains, and the appointments, and the years, you end up more
dead than alive (243). This characterizes Willy to show how he has given up his dream of a successful
salesman. After Willy dies, Biff realizes there s more of him in that front stoop than in all the sales he
ever made (276). Biff realizes that Willy made the most success at home, fixing the house and making
it the best place for his family to live. When Willy turns down Ben s offer to move to Alaska, he tells

of the novel furthermore aids Baldwin in his overall purpose of informing Blacks in the 1960 s of how
White people, who are incapable of accepting and loving themselves, create a racist environment,
which African Americans, despite fear and risk, can conquer with love and strategy. Upon my
reflection on the writing, I was pleasantly surprised to find Baldwin has a perspective unlike any other
theorist, because he has convinced me to believe with him how the end of racism can be found in the
root cause of the issue.
Because Caucasian people are uncomfortable and unconfident with themselves, they consistently
persecute and destroy people of African descent. When James Baldwin says some argue Whites must
accept Blacks, he counteracts this using procatalepsis suggesting, White people in this country will
have quite enough to do in learning how to accept and love themselves and each other, and when they
have achieved this which will not be tomorrow and may very well be never the Negro problem will no
longer exist (Baldwin 22). The author has brought to my attention how self pity,

Point Barrow Alaska Essay
Barrow, Alaska is the United States northernmost city on the Arctic Ocean. Barrow is made up of a
population of mostly Iñupiat Eskimo native and a fraction of Caucasian and other minority citizens.
Point Barrow (n.d.) suggests that archaeological evidence dates human habitation by Iñupiat Eskimos
in the area from about 500 A.D. The city was named for Sir John Barrow, British promoter of Arctic
exploration; its Iñupiaq name is Ukpeagvik, meaning Place Where Owls Are Hunted (Point Barrow,
n.d.). With scarce resources available, Iñupiat peoples subsist on the land and sea of north and
northwest Alaska. Construction of the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line and exploration in the
National Petroleum Reserve brought new people to the region ... Show more content on

As important as it is, Arctic coastal sea ice plays a vital role in dynamics of the coastline, covers
stretches of open water which serve as important biological habitats, and serves as a platform for a
broad range of activities by residents and industries (Druckenmiller et al., 2009). Sea ice is also
important because it is used as a platform for harvesting seals and whales in spring, transport of
personnel and supplies to camps, and as a network of trails (Druckenmiller et al., 2009). Dangerous
effects of climate change include ice breakouts which are when large chunks of ice that whalers are
using as working areas break off of the main ice blocks and take whaling camps out to sea

How Color And The Affects It Has On The Human Brain
Color is any hue, tint, or shade of light that can be separated as in a spectrum or rainbow as defined by
the Oxford English Dictionary. There have been many studies concerning color and the affects it has
on the human brain. According to Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, a eighteenth century writer, each
color evokes a different emotion or sensation, which can be seen and studied using a prism, the grand
instrument in the experimental field of research into light. So why does color matter in marketing? In
a recent study, researchers found that 92.6% of people put most importance on visual factors when
purchasing products, (Morton). A key factor to visual composition is color choices, pairings, schemes,
and the emotions and feelings each of those colors evoke.
The human brains reaction to color is called color psychology. Marketers consider the meaning behind
each color when designing merchandise packaging, and consumers choose certain products because
they find the packaging to be appealing, and subconsciously playing into the plans of the companies.
The history and study of color has presented a plethora of information regarding the important role
color plays in everyday life. The scientific reasoning behind color psychology has yet to be specified
due to the wide variety of factors that could affect the results, such as personal preference, personal
history, and environmental conditions. Although marketers might not consider such specific details of
color psychology, there

Narcissistic And Cult Leaders Essay
Narcissistic and Cult Leaders Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Cult Leaders
Every day we face and deal with either small or big issues relating to terrorist leaders from inside and
outside of country. During the past decade we have seen North Korean leader, Kim Jung Un, Osama
bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro of Cuba, Idi Amain of Uganda and more, who have been
described as crazy, cruel, lunatic, madman, psychopath and even worse. How could they acquire all
the power, rule over people and become a leader in a country if they were such a psychopath?
Ironically, they are just as rational as we are. We simply do not have a full understanding of their
personalities, which are unusually different from societal norms and expectation. They are defined as a
personality disorder. There are six personality disorders classified: sadistic, antisocial, paranoid,
narcissistic, schizoid and schizotypal.
Remarkably, most of these cult leaders have been suffering from narcissistic personality disorder,
which brings a dictatorship in social relationship and a fatal negative influential to both oneself and
others. Any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Life In The Trenches Narrative Essay
It s been three days since my regiment was sent to fight in the trenches on the Western Front of this
Two Front War or more befittingly, The War to End All Wars . When we arrived, we were greeted with
open arms by British Soldiers that called us Doughboys . A few soldiers happily showed us around the
trenches and warned us about the high water level and mud, explaining how it can lead to vile trench
feet . The soldiers also warned us of the danger that is German poison gas attacks and how we should
always have a gas mask on hand. Finally, we were all given rations, a few trench arts that some
soldiers made in their spare time, and a speech that still resonates with me. A young British sergeant
stood up on a stool and told us that he believes that we can finally end the stalemate with the Germans
and stick it to their pig of a leader, Kaiser Willhelm II. I then retired to a loathsome barrack filled with
lice, mice, and flies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hurriedly equipped myself with a gas mask, trench knife, and rifle. I ran out of the barracks and was
immediately met with orders to support from the rear line trench. I remember being amazed at how
fast everything was prepared in response to the attack, hundreds of men were already fighting, and the
machine guns were already mounted and manned. I remember also being shocked by the chaos on the
battlefield, it was nothing like how it was in training. Grenades were flying and shrapnel was being
launched everywhere, accompanied by the onslaught of bullets coming from both sides. No one dared
to go over the top and charge into the mine and barbed wire ridden No Man s Land, having it to where
no progress was being made by both sides. We were sitting ducks, and I could ve sworn that I heard
the whizzing of planes above me, ready to bomb us at any moment, but luckily there was no such air
raid to end us all. Just hours of incessant gunfire and

Literature Review On Intelligence
Search strategy
PsycINFO was the database I used for this literature summary. Firstly, I searched articles relate to
breastfeeding. I tried to exhaust the results on this topic by changing three kinds of phrasings (breast
feeding, breastfeeding or breast fed), and they turned out to be 4,133. Secondly, I searched articles
relate to intelligence and because of the numerous amount of studies in this field, I specified it by
choosing the following interested scopes cognitive ability, cognitive development, intelligence
quotient, intelligence, and IQ. I also searched for cognitive measurement as a performance of
intelligence, using Cognit* to widen the results. I added up the articles on intelligence and cognition
by the OR Boolean operator and got 430,710 results. Next, I applied the AND Boolean operator to
combine breastfeeding with intelligence and gained 262 pieces of studies. With the aim of exploring
more about the confounding effect on past literature, I searched confound in three ways, namely
confound, confounded or confounded. The previous 262 outcomes which were intersected with
confound then attenuated to 22, this step also helped me narrow the scope down. All of the searches
concentrated on title and abstract, expect for confounding I look it up in the whole context.
I briefly read the introduction and discussion part of these studies, 5 out of 22 studies found that there
is a positive association between breast feeding and intelligence, whereas 7 studies claim the

Critical Thinking and Writing in Criminal Justice
December 13, 2016 Abstract
This paper explores the history of Charleston Southern University located in the heart of the
Lowcountry in Charleston, South Carolina. With its core Christian values, Charleston Southern
achieves an atmosphere that most universities cannot. The history of this school can be pinpointed
back to 1964 when it was initially founded (University History and Milestones, 2015). The early years
were fairly rough, with low enrollment rates and very few majors being offered (Joslin, Merkling,
Strubel, 2014). However, the university went through countless changes that drove it to be the
successful school that it is today. Now, Charleston Southern University is an academically excellent
school and also a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. This school started as
merely an idea and expanded into a thriving university full of thousands of students. ... Show more

Decline In Voter Turnout
The decline in voter turnout at the turn of the century has always been a concern for politicians and
scholars alike. The very fact that voters are responsible for changing or keeping the country s
leadership means that this development should be a concern not only to a few individuals but also to
the whole nation. The government, political parties, and focus and interest groups have tried to find
ways to increase the motivation to vote while easing the voting process. However, these methods have
been less successful than expected. While the motivation to vote relies on factors such as the attributes
of voters, political socialization, and electoral laws and rules, the impact of political parties and their
aspirants supersedes any strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
148). In essence, every voter has some political beliefs and values that often influence the way he or
she views political parties, candidates, and ideals. Some conservative people tend to vote to
Republican, while some people tend to vote Democratic. Voters have their own political attitudes, and
these attitudes determine how society goes, whom they are voting for, and what kind of political
parties they are supporting. Many elements have the ability to contribute the political attitudes, such as
family, gender, education, income, religion, age, race, and etc. According to Ginsberg et al., the first
place where people start forming their beliefs on politics is their families and society (148). This idea
explains the reason some areas in the U.S. have more Democratic representatives while others have
the majority of their residents being Republicans. The fact that most people possess these ideals means
that in the event that the candidates in a ballot do not have the qualities that a particular group of
voters is looking for, these voters will not partake in voting. When the impact of race in political
socialization is factored in, it becomes increasingly evident that some people of one race are unlikely
to spend their time voting for a candidate who does not represent their beliefs pertaining to racial
issues. For instance, African Americans perception of the extent of racism is different from that of
whites. This has a significant bearing on the motivation of voters from each divide to participate in an
election (Ginsberg et al.

Universal Studios Presents The 1960 Film Psycho
Universal Studios presents the 1960 film Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock, adapted from the Robert Bloch
novel by Joseph Stephano, and scored by Bernard Hermann. The film stars Anthony Perkins, Vera
Miles, Janet Leigh, and a very creepy house. This film falling under the horror genre was based
loosely on the novel of the same name which drew inspiration from real life serial killer Ed Gein, who
has been the motivation for two other popular movies, The Silence of the Lambs and The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre . The budget for Psycho ran under one million dollars and was the last film on
Alfred Hitchcock s contract with Universal. The film was shot entirely on set at Universal studios
except for an early shot of Marion Crane s (Janet Leigh) vehicle parked on the side of the road when
she was too tired to continue driving, as well as the car dealership. Due to the budget constraints the
films crew were made up of mostly people who were working on the, Alfred Hitchcock Presents
television show. The film is about a man named Norman Bates, who runs a motel owned by his
family. Norman is a victim of his ill mothers love. His mother becomes violent when Norman s
attention has been detracted from her needs. This film is a study of character, suspense, and
storytelling; all reasons this film is considered an American classic. This film is unique due to several
factors: its presentation, it contained two different point of views (with an interpreted third point of
view), and it has some

On March 28, 2000, our city of Fort Worth was hit by an F3 tornado. After hearing about tornados on

when I was a kid and I can recall how the buildings looked like for a while after the storm and how the
downtown area has evolved over the years after the tornado. I also find it to be interesting in finding
out why we are hit so often. Texas is one of the hardest states hit by tornados. According to the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, there are on average 155 tornados in Texas per

A Brief Note On Pharmacology And The Nursing Process
Digoxin
Oluchi Madubuike
University of Texas at Arlington
Pharmacology and the Nursing Process
N3365 001
Sandra Laird
April 1, 2015 OVERVIEW OF DIGOXIN
Origin
Digoxin is a drug gotten from the leaves of a digitalis plant ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 1). We commonly
refer to this plant as foxglove but we also use its botanical name, which is Digitalis purpurea when
discussing it ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Foxglove is a popular flower that can be found growing along
the roadsides and in meadows or waterlogged areas usually in the western region of the United States (
Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Although this plant can now be found in America, European immigrants
originally brought Foxglove into the United States centuries ago ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). William
Withering first described the therapeutic effect of this plant in 1785 ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 4).
Drug Class
Digoxin is grouped under a class of drugs known as cardiac glycosides (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014,
p. 387). Cardiac Glycosides are a class of drugs known as cardiac drugs (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014,
p. 387). They are the oldest group of cardiac drugs that are recognized to have beneficial effects on
people with failing heart and help in controlling the heart s ventricular rate (Lilley, Collins, Snyder,
2014, p. 387). These drugs help make the heart beat stronger and with a more regular rhythm. In
previous years, cardiac glycosides (digoxin) were used as the first line drugs for heart

Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior
Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior s
If a war was to take place, and the Spartans are the enemy warriors, you better pray to god you live to
breathe another day. There are many reasons behind the fact that Spartans are the deadliest warriors of
all time. Could it be that they begin training to become a warrior at the age of 7? Or could it be how
they were starved and only could get food by being a successful warrior. Spartans can be recognized
as cruel warriors that cared for no one, when actually they had to be blood thirsty otherwise they
would not survive themselves. Throughout this essay I will claim the hardships a Spartan had to go
through to become such well known warriors in history. (Thesis?)

Other warriors forbidden fighting and hazing others due to the fact that it will destroy their unity. This
was not the case with the Spartans. While training Spartans were hazed and beat by instructors only to
make them stronger as an individual. Moments occurred during training where young children would
fight another child to death in order to eliminate the weak. When instructors saw this they would only
sit and watch, looking for either a leader or a dominant individual. Unlike today Spartans already
knew what their future held. That was to be a Spartan for life until you were dead. Many young men
would attempt escaping Rome in hope to live a free life. Those who were caught escaping were hung
on the first of every month. There was no such thing as women for Spartan s. Spartan men were not
allowed to be married or live with a women until they turned thirty. This is why many of the Spartans
were gay and had male lovers. It was forbidden though, and anyone who was caught with the same
sex was ridiculed and made fun of. The only reason marriage was acceptable to the Spartans was to
breed new soldiers. in fact husbands who could not have children were not allowed to marry and were
forced to stick with the military Spartan life

The first one that jumps out to me is the Appointments that were discussed. During this time, future
teachers can take note of who is retiring and get an idea of what positions will be open when the time
comes. It is a good way to become involved and informed about a district you are interest in. Another
topic that was discussed that will impact feature students was budget cuts. This impact them because it
could impact their salary as well as impact what resources are available to them when the time comes.
However, with seeing current teachers propose for a grant it shows new teachers to not be afraid to ask
for resources that can help benefit and further your student s education. Going to this school board
meeting has enlightened me on how a meeting works and what can all be discussed during these
meetings. I think it is important as a teacher to be in attendance at the meetings to be informed and
knowledgeable about what is going on in your own district. I know for me when the time comes I
would like to attend the school board meetings of my future

Causes And Treatment Of Cervical Cancer
INTRODUCTION
Cervical cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the cervix or
cervix uteri. Cervical cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the fourth leading
cause of cancer death in females worldwide with over 527,000 new cases 1,2 and perhaps the second
most common cancer among women in the third world countries 3 5 It accounts for 9% of the total
new cancer cases and 8% (more than 265,000) of the total cancer deaths among females.1,2 More than
80% of these cases and deaths occur in developing countries.1 4

BACKGROUND
The cervix is the lower part or neck of the uterus (womb) connecting the body of the uterus to the
vagina (birth canal). It is a cylindrical structure, which lies below the internal os.11 13 The upper third
of the cervix is made up of columnar/glandular cells (similar to the rest of uterus). The lower two
thirds of the cervix is made up of squamous cells (similar to the vagina) see figure 1. The normal
squamocolumnar junction (transformation zone or T zone) is located in the ectocervix and can be
exposed to carcinogens, resulting in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), an abnormal proliferation
or overgrowth of the basal cell layer.11,12 The T zone is the most common site for cervical dysplasia
which is a premalignant condition to cervical cancer that results from an abnormal proliferation of
cells characterized by changes in cell size, shape, and loss of cellular organization.11,12
Approximately 90% of cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinomas.11,12,,14 Another 10% of
cervical cancers are of the adenocarcinoma type.11,12,14 Occasionally, the cancer may have
characteristics of both types and is called adenosquamous carcinoma or mixed carcinoma.11,12,14

  • 2. Analysis Of Flaubert s Madame Bovary In Madame Bovary, Flaubert writes a couple of major moments in very brief and plain ways. What Flaubert does for these moments is build up our expectations of what we think is going to happen long before it actually occurs so that when the moment nears, he can make the current buildup and the moment itself quick and plain. This is so that we are emotionally detached from it and the character s experience and ours do not mix. One passage where this happens is near the beginning of part 3, on page 208, where Emma is having a conversation with Leon. The passage is With a slight shrug, Emma interrupted him to lament the illness during which she had nearly died; what a shame! she would no longer be suffering now. Leon immediately envied the tranquillity of the grave, and one night he had even written his will, requesting that he be buried in that beautiful coverlet, with its bands of velvet, that she had given him; for this was the way they would have liked to be they were both creating for themselves an ideal against which they were not adjusting their past lives. Besides. speech is a rolling press that always amplifies one s emotions. But at this invention concerning the coverlet: Why? she asked. Why? . He hesitated. Because I loved you so much! And, applauding himself for having gotten past the difficult part, Leon watched her expression from the corner of his eye. Leon s confession is heavily set up by the passages that came before it instead of sentences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Harriet Jacobs, Wheatley, And Olaudah Equiano Throughout the years, many people have attempted to portray the hardships and struggles of slaves based on what they learned or what they might have been taught. But realistically, there is no way for anyone to understand the lives that many blacks were forced into because they have never actually experienced it themselves. During slavery, blacks were separated from their families and pushed into a lifestyle that was dehumanizing and depressing. Their everyday lives were being watched and harsh punishments were being given for reasons that were unethical. Harriet Jacobs, Phyllis Wheatley, and Olaudah Equiano wrote about the different struggles that they faced as slaves in order to give readers an understanding from their point of view. In ... For a little over four hundred years, many Africans were seized from their homes and transported to America. In America, they were forced to work on plantations and mines. Slaves were also not allowed to learn how to read because many white were afraid that if they learned how to read they would eventually get to freedom. From day to day, slaves grew crops, took care of animals and served their owners for sometimes up to eighteen hours a day. The hard work of these slaves serve as a shrine for the enormous wealth that is still enjoyed by many Europeans and Americans. In her poem, Wheatley also says Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain, May be refin d, and join th angelic train . Phyllis Wheatley s conversion to Christianity as a consequence of her surviving the infamous middle passage from Africa to America. • 5. Protocols In Emergency Medical Services In the world of emergency medical services (EMS), first responders face many challenges. Most of these are well known by the general public, such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from difficult calls, meeting financial needs, and working long hours. What is not known by many is that first responders also face the challenging task of learning and remembering an extensive list of protocols for the state they work in. I remember starting my emergency medical technician (EMT) class a little over a year ago and feeling overwhelmed when I discovered I had to learn these on top of all of the information I was taking in an already hard class. I face this again now, being a paramedic student at Pennsylvania College of Technology. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 90). For those items that are not required, the state medical director must give the unit permission to carry them (American College of Emergency Physicians, 2016). Protocols are also updated annually in order to include, exclude, or reword various parts in which editing is deemed needed. An example would be PA s 2017 basic life support (BLS) protocol update in which it the BLS scope of practice was expanded to include the use of glucometers to measure blood glucose levels (Pennsylvania Department of Health, 2017, p. 59). This is can be vital in determining the seriousness of a patient s condition. TRANSITION. While protocols are needed and are currently revised every so often, there are some revisions that should be made that have not been yet. One of the greatest injustices in today s society is caused by protocols. First responders are taught to maintain a standard of quality care, which means that all patients are supposed to receive the best care possible no matter what. This includes disregarding one s personal views on gender, race, and other things. Unfortunately, this does not occur to the extent that it should. For example, in PA s cardiac arrest protocols outline the use of mechanical CPR devices, such as the Lund University Cardiac Arrest System (LUCAS) Device (Pennsylvania Department of Health, 2017, p. 69 72). This device performs compressions for the care provider and has been proven to increase the survivability of patients in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Barbie Doll s Role Model For Young Girls Valeria Lukyanova, a 31 one year old woman who at a younger age began to starve herself to achieve Barbie like body portions. This is just one example of many women and girls who make unhealthy decisions to attain unrealistic body images. Barbie affects the way girls believe their body should look and their self worth through her unrealistic body shape, and ideals. Slumber Party Barbie Barbie is bad role model for young girls because she represents ideas that can be harmful for children. According to the Huffington Post Now, courtesy of a 1965 era Barbie, comes another outlandish idea to help keep the pounds off: starvation. We ve always known Mattel s iconic Barbie doll may not be the most healthful source for advice on keeping a trim figure, but the Slumber Party Barbie, produced in the mid 1960s, really takes the cake. Among the doll s accessories are a small plastic scale permanently set to 110 lbs., and a diet book titled How To Lose Weight, .... The diet book s only advice? DON T EAT! . (Grenoble, p.3) This Barbie doll confers young girls with the idea of self starvation through her unhealthy accessories like her scale and diet book. • 7. The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly impossible to avoid the topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education system in Ontario likely has strong opinions about the value of being able to speak both English and French fluently. Those opinions may be strengthened further once a resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational stream to apply their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are already learning their native language and English when they arrive, and then they may be required start learning French as well. Along with these social implications of bilingual learning, there are also psychological issues that come up. There are helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result from trying to learn two languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process. Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be incredibly adaptable and responsive. This means that their executive control system is much more stimulated while learning than that of their fellow students who participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed the case, it could also be that this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a program an advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of the negative effects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ictober Research Papers The ink left nothing untouched, staining and smudging the table, scratch paper, and even my hand. A mess of paper and ink surrounded me, but only one area was left organized. My sketchbook that I filled with meticulous work and effort for the past 30 days stared back at me. Thirty days of work filled the sketchbook to the brim, both the good and bad. I finally finished the final piece I had completed InkTober. InkTober is a social media phenomenon that took the artist world by storm. For every day of October, you are to make one drawing that incorporates ink in its media. The theme or subject of drawing is completely up to the artist, as long as the piece has ink colored or black then it fits right into InkTober. Then, once you re satisfied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of my pieces consisted of fanart or simple original pieces exploring inking styles. I admittedly favored one series, Love Live!, over the others, but I was grateful for the inspiration. Some drawings I practiced perspective and colors, like the first and fourth day respectively, others I tested styles of shading and texture. Going from a pencil sketch, to simple lining, and finally to detailed inking was a fulfilling experience. I would finish inking the drawing for the day and quickly sketch an outline for the following day in pencil. This schedule was helpful and time efficient since the most time consuming part of drawing is figuring out what to draw and how to start it. However, I could only do this due to the leniency of my school schedule and sparse amount of homework at that time. So when work started picking up at school two weeks into October, it became a struggle to finish one day s drawing, not to mention preparing for the following days. The output and quality of my art in the middle of the month took a drop as I began studying for tests, in class writings, and the PSAT. It was at this time that Inktober became a real challenge. Not only do you have to plan and compose a drawing, but you have to manage your schedule and make time to do so. • 9. Perfectionism As A Dynamic And Multifaceted Personality Trait Introduction Perfectionism has been in a centre of attention of sport psychologists for last few decades and even though a research boom already provided many interesting findings, the topic offers plenty of other areas to investigate. Number of different ways in which perfectionism is conceptualized and measured is one of the biggest challenges when designing research in this field (Hill, Appleton Hall, 2014). Nevertheless, when going through various sources, we can see a common point of view among researches looking at perfectionism as a multidimensional and multifaceted personality trait characterized by imposing high standards on oneself with the tendency to engage in overly and unrealistic critical evaluations of one s achievement (Cumming Duda, 2012; Flett Hewitt, 2002). Individual s need for flawlessness (perfection) and setting of excessively high standards of performance accompanied by tendencies for extremely critical evaluation of one s performance are the core of this phenomenon (Stoeber Otto, 2006). In general population, perfectionism is usually perceived as a negative psychological phenomenon leading to other unfavourable results (e.g. experiencing high level of stress). This extremely polarized attitude used to be also kept by many researchers connecting perfectionism with psychopathology outcomes. For a long time, one dimensional concept of perfectionism dominated whole research area. Later on, two basic approaches to conceptualize the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Salinger is most known for his controversial in the Catcher in the Rye. Salinger is also known for many of his writings such as Franney and Zooey, Nine Stories, and Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters. The summer of 1930 he was voted The Most Popular Writer . Salinger is a beautifully deft, professional who gives us a chance to catch quick, half amused, half frightened glimpses of ourselves and our contemporaries, as he confronts us with his brilliant mirror images (Lomazoff 1). In the mid 1940 s Zen Buddhism began to influence Salinger s life and writings. Also, in the early 50 s Salinger met frequently met with teenagers while writing Catcher. These influences, and also the fact that he was an unknown writer made him free from clichés and slogans that the rest of the world fell prey to. Salinger only seeked independence, growth, and stability in his life. Because Salinger was not a renowned writer, he did not have to worry about meeting expectations or censorship. Salinger would never try to censor himself, and felt that he should not have to. He frequently speaks of a phony society in which we all live in and in order to be accepted into the adult world, we must become a phony . Being a phony meaning, adjusting yourself to become what is socially acceptable even though it may not be what you desire to achieve. His work is a unique phenomenon, important as the voice of a silent generation in revolt against a phony world and in search of mystical escapes from a deteriorating society rather than causes promising political revolution or reform (French 4). Many of Salingers views for The Catcher in the Rye come from his intense hatred for hypocrisy. In the novel, Holden Caulfield feels that he must not submit to the phoniness of life, but attain an attitude of tolerance, understanding, and live which will make his life endurable. Some examples of films that have been remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998. King Kong (1933) is another example of a film that has been remade. The remake, King Kong (2005), directed by Peter Jackson, shows technological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative. Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her. Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story. Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting the emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge ... • 14. Environmental Ethics And Aldo Leopold s Land Ethics Wolves certainly are one of the most beautiful and high in the food chain predators. And it was almost 30,000 BCE when mankind first decided to change those creatures path: we domesticated then, used them for transportation and, today, we call their latest offspring our best friends. If we treat our puppies like human babies nowadays, some almost a hundred years ago we were barbaric in our way to treat Yellowstone National Park s wolves: we decimated the park s wolf population with the goal to protect park s visitors. What was clearly an anthropocentrist act is now being corrected by the reintroduction of wild wolves into the park s ecosystem; based on Aldo Leopold s Land Ethics, I believe that choice was an assertive one. Humans should do everything in their power to exercise their unique rationalization capacity by valuing other creatures and promoting the equilibrium between men and nature. As a trained forester who went through the Great Depression od 1929, Aldo Leopold avidly wrote about all the ways he believed humans had failed nature in the exploitation of its resources; he was the first one who discussed the importance of respecting nature and keeping it wild. For this reason, the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy points the author as the father of all environmental ethics; his writings influenced all the biggest discussions of expansion of intrinsic value to any form of life and non living things, that is, theories against anthropocentrism ( Environmental ... This ending line from one of the most famous arias in music history, The Habanera, is one of its most literal. It translates to if you love me, guard yourself! , a fitting exclamation from the titular character Carmen. She has often been described as a femme fatale, a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, though others urge audiences to view Carmen as the emotional, vulnerable woman beyond that. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through death. Computational Breast Phantoms using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The technique used for detection in microwave imaging is based on the contrast in the dielectric properties between healthy and malignant breast tissues. Breasts consist of a mixture of fatty, adipose, epithelial and connective tissues. Dense breast tissue results from a large percentage of epithelial and connective tissues, collectively referred to as fibro glandular tissues. It is well established from radiographic images that malignant breast tumours have irregular spiculated shapes and usually hide inside healthy fibro glandular regions. The challenge faced by any existing imaging is to distinguish the malignant breast tissues from healthy fibro glandular tissue regions. Another compelling potential application is the characterization of the relative density of tissues in a healthy breast using microwave imaging as the high breast density is strongly correlated with cancer risk. The breast density estimation via microwave imaging can help to identify high risk subjects before cancer has manifested. In addition, microwave imaging can also be used in monitoring the response of a tumour to other treatment protocols. These require dielectric mapping of the breast in addition to localization of malignant tissue. 2. Down at the Cross from The Fire Next Time is James Baldwin s memoir pertaining to his life experiences with racism. The author presents an original writing strategy which uses examples and details to reach the main goal of helping the reader discover the main points of the story. The rhetorical style for the second half of the novel furthermore aids Baldwin in his overall purpose of informing Blacks in the 1960 s of how White people, who are incapable of accepting and loving themselves, create a racist environment, which African Americans, despite fear and risk, can conquer with love and strategy. Upon my reflection on the writing, I was pleasantly surprised to find Baldwin has a perspective unlike any other theorist, because he has convinced me to believe with him how the end of racism can be found in the root cause of the issue. Because Caucasian people are uncomfortable and unconfident with themselves, they consistently persecute and destroy people of African descent. When James Baldwin says some argue Whites must accept Blacks, he counteracts this using procatalepsis suggesting, White people in this country will have quite enough to do in learning how to accept and love themselves and each other, and when they have achieved this which will not be tomorrow and may very well be never the Negro problem will no longer exist (Baldwin 22). There have been many studies concerning color and the affects it has on the human brain. According to Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe, a eighteenth century writer, each color evokes a different emotion or sensation, which can be seen and studied using a prism, the grand instrument in the experimental field of research into light. So why does color matter in marketing? In a recent study, researchers found that 92.6% of people put most importance on visual factors when purchasing products, (Morton). A key factor to visual composition is color choices, pairings, schemes, and the emotions and feelings each of those colors evoke. The human brains reaction to color is called color psychology. Marketers consider the meaning behind each color when designing merchandise packaging, and consumers choose certain products because they find the packaging to be appealing, and subconsciously playing into the plans of the companies. The government, political parties, and focus and interest groups have tried to find ways to increase the motivation to vote while easing the voting process. Some conservative people tend to vote to Republican, while some people tend to vote Democratic. Voters have their own political attitudes, and these attitudes determine how society goes, whom they are voting for, and what kind of political parties they are supporting. Many elements have the ability to contribute the political attitudes, such as family, gender, education, income, religion, age, race, and etc. According to Ginsberg et al., the first place where people start forming their beliefs on politics is their families and society (148). This idea explains the reason some areas in the U.S. have more Democratic representatives while others have the majority of their residents being Republicans. The fact that most people possess these ideals means that in the event that the candidates in a ballot do not have the qualities that a particular group of voters is looking for, these voters will not partake in voting. When the impact of race in political socialization is factored in, it becomes increasingly evident that some people of one race are unlikely to spend their time voting for a candidate who does not represent their beliefs pertaining to racial issues. A Brief Note On Pharmacology And The Nursing Process Digoxin Oluchi Madubuike University of Texas at Arlington Pharmacology and the Nursing Process N3365 001 Sandra Laird April 1, 2015 OVERVIEW OF DIGOXIN Origin Digoxin is a drug gotten from the leaves of a digitalis plant ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 1). We commonly refer to this plant as foxglove but we also use its botanical name, which is Digitalis purpurea when discussing it ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Foxglove is a popular flower that can be found growing along the roadsides and in meadows or waterlogged areas usually in the western region of the United States ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). Although this plant can now be found in America, European immigrants originally brought Foxglove into the United States centuries ago ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 2). William Withering first described the therapeutic effect of this plant in 1785 ( Digitalis, 2015, para. 4). Drug Class Digoxin is grouped under a class of drugs known as cardiac glycosides (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014, p. 387). Cardiac Glycosides are a class of drugs known as cardiac drugs (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014, p. 387). They are the oldest group of cardiac drugs that are recognized to have beneficial effects on people with failing heart and help in controlling the heart s ventricular rate (Lilley, Collins, Snyder, 2014, p. 387). Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior Why Spartans Are The Best Warrior s If a war was to take place, and the Spartans are the enemy warriors, you better pray to god you live to breathe another day. There are many reasons behind the fact that Spartans are the deadliest warriors of all time. Could it be that they begin training to become a warrior at the age of 7? Or could it be how they were starved and only could get food by being a successful warrior. Spartans can be recognized as cruel warriors that cared for no one, when actually they had to be blood thirsty otherwise they would not survive themselves. Throughout this essay I will claim the hardships a Spartan had to go through to become such well known warriors in history. (Thesis?) Immediately when a Spartan ... While training Spartans were hazed and beat by instructors only to make them stronger as an individual. Moments occurred during training where young children would fight another child to death in order to eliminate the weak. When instructors saw this they would only sit and watch, looking for either a leader or a dominant individual. Unlike today Spartans already knew what their future held. That was to be a Spartan for life until you were dead. Many young men would attempt escaping Rome in hope to live a free life. Those who were caught escaping were hung on the first of every month. There was no such thing as women for Spartan s. Spartan men were not allowed to be married or live with a women until they turned thirty. This is why many of the Spartans were gay and had male lovers. It was forbidden though, and anyone who was caught with the same sex was ridiculed and made fun of. The only reason marriage was acceptable to the Spartans was to breed new soldiers. in fact husbands who could not have children were not allowed to marry and were forced to stick with the military Spartan life ... • 34. School Board Meeting Assignment For the purpose of this assignment I sat in on a school board meeting for Central Dauphin School District. This board meeting was held on April 10th, 2017. This district holds school board meetings two times per month. Every meeting has an agenda that they follow along with a guided script. There were nine different sections for this meeting. The order is as follows, call to order, roll call, flag salute, additions, deletions, or modifications to the agenda, review and approval of meeting minutes, information and proposals, unfinished business, new business and adjournment. There were many different people present at this meeting. The first person I noticed was, Mr. Ford Thompson. Mr. Thompson is the Board President and he did most of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one that jumps out to me is the Appointments that were discussed. During this time, future teachers can take note of who is retiring and get an idea of what positions will be open when the time comes. It is a good way to become involved and informed about a district you are interest in. Another topic that was discussed that will impact feature students was budget cuts. This impact them because it could impact their salary as well as impact what resources are available to them when the time comes. However, with seeing current teachers propose for a grant it shows new teachers to not be afraid to ask for resources that can help benefit and further your student s education. Going to this school board meeting has enlightened me on how a meeting works and what can all be discussed during these meetings. I think it is important as a teacher to be in attendance at the meetings to be informed and knowledgeable about what is going on in your own district. I know for me when the time comes I would like to attend the school board meetings of my future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a cylindrical structure, which lies below the internal os.11 13 The upper third of the cervix is made up of columnar/glandular cells (similar to the rest of uterus). The lower two thirds of the cervix is made up of squamous cells (similar to the vagina) see figure 1. The normal squamocolumnar junction (transformation zone or T zone) is located in the ectocervix and can be exposed to carcinogens, resulting in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), an abnormal proliferation or overgrowth of the basal cell layer.11,12 The T zone is the most common site for cervical dysplasia which is a premalignant condition to cervical cancer that results from an abnormal proliferation of cells characterized by changes in cell size, shape, and loss of cellular organization.11,12 Approximately 90% of cervical cancers are squamous cell carcinomas.11,12,,14 Another 10% of cervical cancers are of the adenocarcinoma type.11,12,14 Occasionally, the cancer may have characteristics of both types and is called adenosquamous carcinoma or mixed carcinoma.11,12,14 Figure 1: Adapted from http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=anatomy+of+cervix id=4B21A47DFDF1FD4269F79CD47453E03D15FE3FA7 FORM=IQFRBA Cause/Risks of Cancer of Cervix The etiological role of ...
