Fox, it was once a movie theatre, but it is now a performing arts center with a proscenium stage

Self definition Throughout history black women have been stereotyped and put into many
different roles in society. Black women, it seems, have become the scapegoat for many issues and
problems and have been misrepresented usually by men, mostly by white men. Through the

irony in a different manner, instead of using the women s thoughts she uses their actions. The
expectations of the reader are because of the upbringing and personal connection of Sula and
Nel. The reader experiences situational irony in upbringing through Nel and irony in the
women s personal connection through Sula. It may seem as if Nel will not become like her
mother, leave the town, travel, become chaotic and take chances. For days afterward she
imagined other trips she would takeВ…Leaving Medallion would be her goal (Morrison 29). Nel
does none of this and settles into the life of the Bottom and contrary to what the reader expects,
she grows up to be almost exactly like her mother. Yet it is not expected that Nel would do this
and it is surprising when it happens. Morrison spends great detail explaining the upbringing of
both Nel and Sula to show that they are exact opposites, foils of each other and the attraction that
each has towards their different lives. Nel, grows up with a strict mother, she is restricted by her
mother and is never able to express herself. Her household is quiet and reserved, in a sense, perfect
and her mother is involved in the community and works hard to kill the imagination and drive of

Personally, Veda s convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young,
Mildred s friend, Ida, echoes what is seemingly the general consensus upon viewing the film
Mildred Pierce (1945). In James M. Cain s 1945 hardboiled crime novel of the same name, we re
taken on a whirlwind ride as Mildred separates from her husband, goes into the restaurant business,
and tries to give her daughter, Veda, everything she desires. In the filmadaptation, we re also taken
on a whirlwind ride, but this time in the form of a murder mystery. Hollywood can t be blamed for
twisting the story into the classic film noir that audiences craved, but there s no denying the vastly

Greed, family bonds, and independence are also key players in the story as Mildred fights to
please Veda and wait upon her every whim. The novel s narrative configuration lends itself more
to enhancing the betrayal aspect of the story, Mildred finding Veda and Monte in bed, Veda
attributing the fake loss of her singing voice to Mildred nearly strangling her, or Veda leaving
Mildred with the truth of her reconciliation simply being a ploy. However, the film is much more
suited for conveying the theme of greed. Interestingly enough, the Motion Picture Production
Code was too strict at the time to allow a strict adaptation of the novel s events. Thus, the murder
mystery was created to send Veda to jail for breaking the law and the sexual betrayal was toned
down, therefore guiding the filmmakers to exploit the greedy, obsessive aspects of Veda in the
case of the film to allow the audience to develop their hatred towards her. The viewer could
understand Mildred s desire to please her daughter, and her immense love for her, so the film s
use of flashbacks makes the viewer wonder whether Mildred is truly describing how awful Veda
was to her over the course of the story. The omniscient nature of the Cain novel reveals Veda s
flaws as they occurred, but Mildred could easily be applying a filter to make her daughter seem
better than she is or, perhaps, worse. The film s configuration is also wonderful at trying to make
the viewer consider the dangers of the greed, independence, and betrayal occurring on screen, as
they know what is coming for Monte they just not entirely sure

There will be a recap of what happened, and then some commentary on what happened and where
the show might go next. Trying to figure out where this show goes is pretty difficult since there
are many plots that interweve. The good thing about that is having a show that s unpredictable. No
one like knowing the end of a season at the beginning. Looking at you Wayward Pines. 2 seasons

Last week s episode was so full of weird stuff going on that at the end of it, I just sat there and
went, Wait, what just happened? It was like the entire episode went over my head, and that sort of
made me feel like an idiot. What happened the last few week s basically proved that the hack wasn
t 100% successful. E Corp took a huge hit, but the real people hurting are the people that had
accounts with E Corp banks. That s the complete opposite of what the Elliot and co. wanted to
do. Their objective was to free all people of their debt by hacking in. Maybe they should ve blown
up all the credit card buildings like in Fight Club. Elliot might have a blown off face, but hell, that
seemed to work in that movie.
