Samuel Taylor Coleridge Drug Use
Writers are magicians, in a way; they open the gateway to the mind, and through colorful words inked
on scratchy paper, show the inner workings and imagination of their brains. But is that all there is
behind their works of art: only their brains? Do authors create some of their most phenomenal pieces
using only a pen and their own minds? No, they don t. There s something sinister behind the
masterpieces they create: drugs. Many authors, specifically authors during the Romantic Era, such as
Thomas de Quincey, John Keats, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge were dependent on drugs either for
medicinal or recreational purposes (Victorian Drug Use). Drugs fueled the creative drive those authors
needed for their writing. But it doesn t end there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But what about Stephen King? He was also a slave to drug addiction, just like these Romantic writers.
Being a modern day author doesn t make him any less of a subject to drug abuse. In fact, despite the

luxury of possessing, he still took them, and he paid the

Globe Theater
Summary(475) The Globe Theater was established by Shakespeare s acting company, Lord
Chamberlain s Men, in 1599. It was composed of 5 brilliant actors: Augustine Phillips, Will Kempe,
Thomas Pope, John Heminge, and William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s wealth and career developed
in this theater, which showed some of his plays like Henry VII. A funny incident that occurred during
the showing of this play on June 29, 1613 was that a fireball special effect was miss shot and hit the
theater, sending it to flames. The theater was quickly rebuilt within 2 years and started showing plays
to the citizens once again. The Globe Theater was a hexagonal structure with a ... Show more content

It could have had an emphasis on social class and identity. Religious reasons could also play a major
role in deciding styles for clothing. Generally men of this period wore heavily puffed clothing of a silk
or thick cotton material. These also had the benefits of warming one up in a cold winter day. Layers
were used in outfits to create a puffing image. The outfit would usually be completed with a fur,
leather, or velvet hat. Because of Spain s growing empire, the influence from this region brought over
a variety clothing styles. It seems that generally people back then all wore thick layers even in hot
weather. Outfits were very structured and rigid, possibly due to preserving a straight back for great
posture and manners. Many accessories were added to increase one s image and social stature.
Usually, outfits included a black color. This is the first time that black is introduced into clothing.
Black clothes would have the effect of making one seem sleeker in figure and it would complement
many different colors of inside layers or accessories. Black has the great effect of highlighting colors
on top of the mono color surface. People back then could have worn this color to show off their power
by emphasizing the silver or gold jewelry. In this period of time, slimmer shoe designs were
introduced for men. They would occasionally have ribbon decor on them in a puffing format. This
made walking or doing daily activities easier because the shoes were more comfortable. Codpieces
also became popular in men s fashion of this time. In women s fashion, dresses were more popular.
Like in many older civilizations, very rigid and structures dresses were used. These were basically
cases for humans to help them keep a good posture and figure. The insides of the dresses would be
lined with wire to restrict the woman s figure and squish and mold the body into a certain hourglass
shape. The torso would be

Heritage Minutes By Terry Fox Essay
The one minute heritage video titled Heritage Minutes: Terry Fox goes on to talk about Fox s journey
through Canada with an amputated leg while raising money for cancer research. The video shows not
only Fox but many people supporting his journey which not only included Canadians watching his
marathon but also family members who came along during the journey and assisting with keeping
track of funds, his length and also his health. It is evident that this had taken place in Canada as there
were many Canadian symbols throughout the film and was also mentioned. However, it is hard to tell
the exact location as to where everything took place. We can notice the various weather conditions that
were seen throughout the film which ranged from rainy to sunny days. We can also note that the video
had been filmed during many times of the day. In the beginning, we see Fox running on an empty road

details and how he came up to the moment in his life where he would take one mile at a time, 26 miles

feature that was definitely left out. Although the film does mention how cancer happens to people all
the time and how Fox wasn t special, the video could have mentioned how he considered himself as
not special by saying that he was a man who loved playing basketball and played for Simon Fraser
University. 2 We also are not told about how in 1970, he penned a letter to the Canadian Cancer
Society telling them how he believed in miracles and that he had intended to run across Canada. This

Impact Of The Romani Communities And Mainstream Slovak...
The continued disparity between the Romani communities and mainstream Slovak society has been
further highlighted recently by their children now being forced to attend ethnically segregated
mainstream schools and classes. The continued investment in so called container schools can
drastically hinder the Romani children s ability to advance to a higher education. It can also become a
hurdle preventing this community to gain sufficient employment to survive and therefore be a full
contributor to the country they call home. By looking at the Republic of Slovakia under the following
headings; political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, information, physical environment and
time (PMESII PT), gaps can be seen that continue to allow for human rights issues like that with the
Roma today to be in the forefront.
TIME
The history of the Slovak nation began in the eleventh century when it was ruled by Hungary. The
Slovaks ancestors were identified as inhabitants of Upper Hungary (more simply known as The
Highlands ). By the nineteenth century, despite the drive by the Hungarian rulers to Magyarize the
multiethnic population of their kingdom, the Slovaks had created a mythologized identity, linking
themselves with the ninth century Slavic kingdom of Great Moravia. In 1918, at the end of World War
I, Slovakia materialized as its own geopolitical unit, not on its own however, but within the new
country of Czechoslovakia. In 1993, for the third time in the twentieth

MNCs analyze this risk?
Political Risk the unanticipated likelihood that a business s foreign investment will be constrained by
host government s policy.
Awareness MNCs must be aware of the political risks factors present in doing business abroad and
develop strategies to respond to them. Policy and control mechanisms, along within certain nations
allow firms to evaluate the inherent risk of doing business there.
7. What is expropriation risk? Who has expropriated in the past (1959 present)?
Expropriation the seizure of doing business with little, if any, compensation to the owners.

Figurative Language In The Count Of Monte Cristo

Power... how did such a good thing give people such a bad reputation? Power is dangerous. Power
attracts the worst and corrupts the best. Those in power, always have the possibility of abusing it. In
the story, The Count of Monte Cristo, written by Alexandre Dumas, The Count took his righteous to
power too far. The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional novel about the story of a young sailor and his
vengeance on others. Young sailor, Edmond Dantes, was falsely imprisoned for supposedly aiding

For example, it was the wicked and wild wind, blew down the doors to let me in, shattered windows
and the sound of drums, people couldn t believe what I d become, (Coldplay 23 28). In these few lines
there is personification and symbolism. Saying, wicked and wild wind, is an example of
personification. It is also an example of symbolism. The wicked and wild wind is an example of all his
temptations that he faced as a king as they blew down the doors to let him in, meaning allowing them
to take control of him. Along with the figurative language, there is diction. The writer uses the words
wicked and shattered to explain how bad his situation was. Furthermore, another quote from the song
is, One minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on me, and I discovered that my castles stand
upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand, (Coldplay 10 14). These lines are using diction with the phrase
upon pillars on salt and pillars of sand . The quote is explaining that his kingdom is weak and falling
apart. By saying his kingdom is standing on salt and sand, we can infer that his kingdom is coming to
its downfall because we know that salt and sand are not strong or sturdy for an empire to stand

Comparing Led Zeppelin s Stairway To Heaven
Led Zeppelin s Stairway to Heaven verdict was gold for the members of the iconic rock band. The
verdict went in their favor, and against Spirit, the group whose instrumental song, Taurus, they were
accused of plagiarizing in creating their mega million selling hit song. Though a chromatic descending
arpeggiated scale that skips the E note is featured in both songs, making a part of Stairway to Heaven
sound similar to a part of Taurus, the jury panel appeared to base its unanimous decision on Thursday
on the fact that the two songs, to their ears, had more differences than similarities between them,
according to Entertainment Weekly.
The decision that Led Zeppelin did not plagiarized the song by Spirit, written by the band s late
guitarist and songwriter, Randy Wolfe, was reached by a jury in a federal court room in Los Angeles
after a trial that lasted a week. Wolfe passed away in 1997. The case was brought against Led Zeppelin
by Michael Skidmore, a trustee of the estate of Wolfe. Wolfe s estate was asking for approximately
$40 million in damages, as well as a songwriting credit for Wolfe and a share of future royalties made
by Zeppelin s Stairway to Heaven. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

APA Style Analysis
APA Style Sample
APA (American Psychological Association) style is primarily used in the social science disciplines. It
is formatted like MLA, and shows many similarities, but is unique in several key points.
APA uses parenthetical (or in text) citations within sentences, but rather than indicating the author s
name and page number, APA includes author s name and date of publication. The page number,
represented with a p. or a pp., is only added to the citation when using a direct quote (not a summary
or paraphrase). If the author s name is mentioned in the sentence, then place the date of publication in
parentheses directly after the name. If the name is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the interviewees have been called exceptions to the norm (Strong amp; Porter, 1998, p. 565).
Note the first example paraphrases an author that is named in the sentence, the second example
paraphrases authors that are not named in the sentence, and the third example provides a direct quote
(thus the inclusion of the page numbers) but also does not identify the authors within the sentence. If
the authors were identified within the sentence in the third example, the authors names would be
followed by the year of publication and only the page numbers would be in the parentheses at the end
of the quote.
Finally, the bibliographic page in APA style differs from MLA, what APA calls the Reference page.
You will notice a few immediate differences from the MLA Works Cited format. With APA you
include the initial of the author s first name rather than the complete name, the publication date
immediately follows the author s name in parentheses, and titles of articles are not surrounded with
quotation marks (however titles of books, magazines, journals, etc are still underlined). The lists are
still alphabetized by author s last name (or title in the absence of an author) and the first line is flush
left while subsequent lines in the same entry are indented in (approximately 5 spaces or one tab). For
journals and magazines, publication title and volume number are both underlined,

For mobility, private cars can, most probably, help to reach where public transportation is not
available. What s more, it s more comfortable in a private car than in a bus, because you don t have to
tolerate the irritation caused by the bad smell or the confined space, especially at peak hours. Superior
as the above mentioned points are, nevertheless, public transportation also has attractions of its own.
Public transportation is much more environmental friendly compared to private cars, it doesn t
produce that much exhaust gas. Also, undoubtedly, you won t be frustratingly confronted with the
petroleum price hovering at a high level, the heavy tax and the auto insurance. Moreover, public
transportation makes great contribution to a lower rate of accidents than private cars, so why not
choose it? Here is the website http://www.rtcsnv.com/transit/fare information/ where provide

However, new methods of high speed and high resolution neutron detection are necessary for such real
time imaging. Currently, mainstream neutron detectors are comprised of counter tubes and
scintillators;9 however, a new, faster, and more sensitive technique is needed. To do this,
semiconductor material is expected as a new neutron detector, and was already proposed in many
applications. The neutron detector using semiconductor material like boron carbide (BC) or
microstructured Si substrate was proposed and developed.10 12 Such neutron detection devices
require a high quality pn diode property, the material selection of neutron capture cross section, and
the selection of semiconductor material for low γ ray detection sensitivity. For this purpose, 10B
atoms, which have large neutron capture cross sections, could potentially be used along with gallium
nitride (GaN) as a wide gap semiconductor. In neutron detectors, the neutron capture element is
among the most important components, and 155Gd, 157Gd, 10B, and 3He are used for capturing
neutrons, as discussed in Ref. 13. In our study, we considered a new alloyed semiconductor material
comprising 10B atoms. The neutron radiation mass attenuation coefficients of 10B atoms are the
second largest among those of all elements.13

Stroke And Infarction With Hormonal Contraception
Stroke and Infarction with Hormonal Contraception
During one year, one in 3,000 women who are taking oral contraceptives will develop a blood clot
(James, n.d.). These blood clots can lead to more dangerous events such as a thrombotic strokes or
myocardial infarctions. Through a nursing research article from The New England Journal of
Medicine, a study was conducted in Denmark to assess the risks of taking oral contraceptives and its
correlation with stroke and infarction. The article explains the purpose, the subjects of the study, how
the subjects were protected, findings, and implications that may be used for practice. The
pathophysiology of how oral contraceptives cause blood clots and how these blood clots cause strokes
and infarctions will also be discussed.
A thrombotic embolism appears to correspond with the estrogen dosage. Estrogen/progestogen oral
contraception affects blood clotting by increasing plasma fibrinogen and the activity of coagulation
factors, thus making the blood more prone to clotting. The inhibitor of coagulation is usually
decreased as well. Platelet activity is also enhanced with acceleration of aggregation (Bonnar, 1987).
These changes that occur in the blood while taking oral contraceptives create a state of
hypercoagulability. Hypercoagulable state means there is an abnormally increased shift toward blood
clotting. The hypercoagulability state of the blood causes the formation of blood clots that travel to the
brain or the heart

Our character is Fouquet, a character with a casual, yet important personality. In the very beginning of
the book, Fouquet is not mentioned at all. It s not until Chapter 10 that he is even mentioned, and
becomes a character of importance in Chapter 11. From there on, he seems to hold a role in every
chapter. The book provides minimal descriptions of Fouquet s physical appearance, so we are only left
to infer most of the details. The first small detail that is given through the book, is in Chapter 10 on
page 88. Though not directly stated, we came to the conclusion that Fouquet is an older man. This is
also backed up by the fact that Fouquet is extremely wealthy (meaning he had more time to gain his
wealth). As for Fouquet s personality, details are almost always directly given. The most important
detail of his personality that plays a big role throughout the book is the fact that he is loyal to the king.
This aspect first shows up in Chapter 11, on page 93. In a conversation with Aramis, Fouquet reveals
that he views the king as sacred than ever and dear . Earlier in the conversation, Fouquet also states ...

Similarities Between Ancient Greece And China Essay
1. Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial
age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher
Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century
BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that
promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum
between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid
consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were
laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the
foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China.
Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual
development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate system covers the problems
of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the mentality of this culture consisted the two
vectors Apollonian and Dionysian. Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the
instinctual needs, as opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific
elements. The widespread fall of the monarchy and the actualization role of the nation brought

The Role Of Ethics And Morals Throughout The Life Of A...
The paper is a description of what role ethics and morals play in the life of a Defense Attorney. While
having to support his client a defense Attorney more often than not would have to prove the
prosecution s witness to be fake. The paper deals with the techniques that are followed by an Attorney
to protect his client and it gives us an idea of the numerous strategies that he would have to adopt to
prove his client in the right. Further, the paper is also a discussion upon facts as to whether an
Attorney can purposely cross question a witness, and mislead the court just to prove his client not
guilty. Here the main purpose of the argument starts with the fact whether a defense attorney is
ethically right when he decides to purposely cross examine the prosecutor s witness just to mislead the
court, when he knows that the witness is saying the truth, and does so only to discredit his answers.
From time immemorial lawyers have been condemned and thought of as conniving people. As early as
the biblical times writers have been condemning lawyers. The great satirist, Jonathan Swift had in his
book Gulliver s Travels in 1726 stated that there was a society of men among us, bred up from their
youth in the art of proving by words multiplied for the purpose that white is black and black is white,
according as they are paid. To this society all rest of the people is slaves. It can be stated that the real
reason to conduct Cross Examination is to find answers to questions of fact.

Teen Pregnancy Norms Affected by Race, Religion, and Social Status
INTRODUCTION
Teen pregnancy is a controversial issue that Americans are facing in society today. The problematic
behavior that comes along with teen pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon that exists on many domains.
A bulk of the teenage population is starting to believe that teen pregnancy is customary and okay. A
persons background has a lot to say about how weakly or strongly this norm is enforced. Although it is
difficult to get a full variation of pregnancy norms in high schools across the nation, the three main
aspects that influence teen pregnancy are race, religion, and social status.
It is hypothesized that social status has the highest correlation to teenage pregnancy. If a teenager s
status were to change, they would feel pressured to hold up to that new status and norm. If a teenager
were to move up in their social status, they would feel as though they would have to live up to the

General Motors in China
General Motors Company in China Huseyin Akbulut Southern New Hampshire University Abstract
This paper aims to explore the cultural barriers that GM encounters while doing business in China
especially in terms of language and Asian mind difference. As a matter of fact, we cannot examine all
the cultural barriers due to the scope of the paper. On the other hand, some differences emerging from
different thinking behavior between US and China are exemplified in the second part of the paper. In
the first part, the company information and the SWOT analysis of GM are given before going further

The reason of the increasing sales is increasing sales of Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac. The target of 2
million car sales is achieved according to GM website as of November 2010. (GM fact sheet, GM

Korea as far as the Asian Pacific market concerned like the case indicated. GM Daewoo has started to
increase sales, yet, it needs way to go. GM Daewoo is the low cost production base with its facilities
in South Korea and Vietnam for some GM brands such as Hummer and Saturn and Opel of European
Operations. The subsidiary made some moves to expand its operations in Europe by purchasing
former Uzbekistan and Romania plants of Daewoo and Polish car maker Fabryka Samochodów

Essay on Alan Bennett Talking Heads
Alan Bennett Talking Heads
In Bennett s monologues the main character faces an important decision which will affect the course
of their lives. I will go on and explain in this essay, the play writer s use of literary techniques
including setting, theme and characterisation which may make the decision seem correct or not.
Talking Heads was originally produced for BBC television but has recently been used as a collection
of short stories. Each of the characters portrayed, is played by an actress that has been previously
associated with Alan Bennett e.g.:Thora Hird who plays Doris worked on a BBC Radio 4 programme

Bennett reflects this very well by transferring this British habit to his characters. All of them are dead
against a change in their lifestyle.
This is excellently demonstrated in A Cream Cracker Doris wants to stay in her house, but the council
recommends she moves to a nursing home , but she refuses on the grounds of hygiene clearly this
shows that she is against a change of setting and a change of life and this is cleverly portrayed
throughout the plays.
Is their setting a safe haven or a prison? Looked at from different angles, we all would have different
views. With Graham, his home and mainly his bedroom is a sanctuary for him, some where he can
escape prejudice and critics, but on reflection what they really are is a hiding place , a place for
Graham to hide away and wallow in self pity. But for Irene she feels her home is a prison. She has no
freedom or liberty, no way to express herself. The only way she achieves this is by writing letters
which may anger or offend other members in the community. But as she enters an actual prison she
feels more freedom than when she was actually a free woman, that may seem strange to you and I, but
for some people, this can be reality and a break from a life they do not enjoy. When dealing with
Doris, it is or can be a confusing situation, from different viewpoints it

Poem Analysis Of To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell
To his Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, he revealed the endeavors of a man towards demanding his
sweetheart s warmth and declines of the unknown mistress to lay down with the honorable man being
referred to, and the refined man s reaction is to disclose to her that, if had he enough time, he could
spend whole hundreds of years respecting her excellence and her beauty; be that as it may, human life
is short and tomorrow is not guarantee he doesn t have this time, thus they ought to appreciate each
other now while regardless they can, as nobody in death can grasp or feel delight. In his tones of
adoration and slavishness reflect how the suiter guarantees that if the time stopped he would
passionately worship each component of his coy mistress, however since time wait for no man he
utilizes this guarantees to lure in his fancy woman to make love with him. The poem is written in the
form of a love poem using the traditional love elegy format also known as carpe diem and is divided
into three stanzas or poetic paragraphs. It s spoken by a nameless man, who doesn t reveal any
physical or biographical details about himself, to a nameless woman, who is also anonymous. The
beauty of the language and the overwhelming focus on the woman s beauty, the respect shown therein,
makes the poem quite progressive and intriguing. The man aims not only to smooth talk but also to
impress her. To confront the concept of time, he uses biblical references to mark the permanent nature
of reality. By using a story out of the Old Testament the image of the great flood that purged the earth
as a start point and then used the image that Armageddon will ultimately occur at the conversion of the
Jews as an end point, the man tries to show the vastness of predicted human existence. At the same
time however he subtly hints toward the second more nihilistic section of the poem. This imagery it is
interesting in two respects; first it suggests that physical human life has been ended by God and will
be ended by him again. Thus, providing a backdrop for the speaker s argument that in reality life is
temperamental and therefore procreation should not be delayed at the expense of morality. The image
is interesting in a second way as it may be

Essay about Impact of Sea Otters on Community Ecology
Introduction Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are marine mammals capable of spending their entire lives in
water. Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They
are referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction
between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator
prey interactions on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence has a far
reaching influence on the marine food web by affecting the populations of sea urchins, which
indirectly affects the populations of kelp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, sea otters play an indirect, yet vital role in the preservation of kelp forests. This in turn
protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing
by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the
habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of
this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp
forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240).
Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region.
Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be
preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. Impact of sea otters on community ecology
The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have
shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes.
The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat Improvement
Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are

consists of five members, KC Meals on vocals, Henry Louis Velge on the bass guitar, Gabriel De
Souza on the lead guitar, Field Teo on the rhythm guitar and Martin Kong on drums. Since their debut

Also, making sure that media attention on the band is closely monitored while sending press releases
to the media informing about upcoming performances and public appearances. Lastly, the manager has
to acquire the help of a publicist or if not needed, publicise the band as it adds value to the band by
setting up CD sales, getting more bookings for shows and interviews. Opportunities for Caracal is that
being based in Singapore, the market is small and is easier to break into the music scene and be one of
the famous bands around. On the other hand, the limitation of being in Singapore is that the music
scene is not as recognized and huge such as companies in the United States of America where talent
scouts are everywhere looking for new talent every other day for their record labels. Therefore, an
action plan must be set for the goals, aims and objectives of both the band and the manager must be
put into place. Firstly, with the band flying off overseas for the Canadian Music Festival in Toronto,
press releases must be printed and sent out to the media involved in the music festival. Not stopping
there, more press releases and also portable info packs should be printed out so that when attending
artists networking conferences in Canada, the United States of America or in fact anywhere around the
world, the manager is able to promote their band to A list record labels or scouts. Networking is an

Go Ask Alice Research Paper
Go Ask Alice tells the story of a teenage girl that develops a drug habit. Controlled by her mental
struggle, Alice runs away on a journey of escapism, and self destruction. Go Ask Alice, was written
anonymously by a teenage girl. Go Ask Alice has become a well known, first person account of the
world of addiction. It has touched the hearts of many adolescents and also warned them about the drug
world and all that comes with the lifestyle. It has also given adults an important insight into the minds
of drug addicted adolescence. Go Ask Alice, many years after its publication, is still awash in
controversy. Go Ask Alice deals with many subjects that make it very prone to controversy. This is
why, perhaps, it has become so widely popular among teenagers. There are several important themes
in Go Ask Alice. One of these important themes is Dissatisfaction. In Go Ask Alice, Alice never seems
to be happy or content no matter what is happening in her life. Often when Alice is not high, Alice is
bored, however, when Alice is high she is often disgusted with herself and everything that happens to
her. Another theme in Go Ask Alice is the difficulty of communication. The main reason Alice begins

Strategic Behavior And Game Theory
Introduction
Strategic behavior and game theory coincide together in many ways. Strategic behavior plans happen
within the confines of game theory. Silva, Mota, and Gril (2015) describe game theory and all that is
involved with it as one of the most powerful tools within social science in general and economics (p.
421). With this statement, a deeper look into the measures that sum up strategic behavior and game
theory is essential for an understanding of a firm s decision in the global economy.
Strategic Behavior
Definition
As oligopolists compete for advantages in their market, they must make decisions about the approach
they take. Strategic behavior is the plan the oligopolist takes after understanding all of the measures
that will go into the plan as well as the opportunity costs by not choosing other plans (Salvatore,
2015). These actions are taken into consideration by the competitors in the industry as well. They then
must arrange or manipulate their plan in order to compete.
Role in Economics Strategic behavior is what drives a company into a competitive market with the
tools to be successful. If the leaders in a company do not take into account all of the criteria that
establishes a strategic behavioral plan, they will not be able to compete in the industry at their highest
potential. Ursacescu and Cioc (2015) describe the criteria that is incorporated into making strategic
behavioral decisions such as operational intelligence, informational intelligence,

The Food Of The Potato Industry
Over time, potatoes have become a favorite and satisfying source of nourishment for individuals
globally. For many centuries, potatoes have been utilized to feed a variety people including those who
made historical strides. For example, an icon such as Christopher Columbus went on sea vogues for
extended periods of time and he had to store supplies and resources that had long shelf life and
nonperishable items. Since the versatility of potatoes are endless the purpose of this particular
vegetable can be consumed by people, exchanged (imported and exported) in markets across the
world, used to feed livestock, and/or used as a supplement to nourish crops for future harvests.
Ultimately, the potato industry is thriving and will continue because if prepared in the desired manner
potatoes are the most efficient or convenient source of beneficial healthy food. A downfall that could
cripple the potato commerce is if stricter regulations are implemented and enforced to reduce
undesired actions of the fast food(restaurant) industry, which as a result could cause financial ruins
affecting nation s economy and the global market as an entity. According to the Agricultural
Marketing Resource Center, the potato crops are the fourth most important crop in the world and
essential vegetable in the United States. Above fifty percent of potato sales are producers of french
fries, chips, dehydrated potatoes, and other products. The remainder of potato production are sent to

Purchase Intentions And Motives Of A Casino
Purchase Intentions and Casino Motivations
There is empirical evidence in the research that suggest the purchase intentions and motivations of a

found that customers perceive that floor layout and theme are two important factors that affect
customer s satisfaction.
When relating the atmosphere of the casino to the customer satisfaction, casinos objectives should be
on developing an atmosphere that influences a player s perception on the overall experience of the
casino (Johnson, 2002). Johnson (2002) found that individuals that visit casinos are concerned about
their surroundings while they gamble. Thus, it is important to that casinos are creating a suitable
atmosphere on the gaming floor for customers because it may initially affect satisfaction.
Promotions
Complimentary services or comps are services offered by a casino to attract more customers. Comps
are given to customers from the casino to compensate them for their business. Suh and Tanford (2012)
suggest that casinos give comps to lure customers to gamble and to encourage loyalty among players.
The casino comps include free gaming play, free food, free drinks, concerts, and shopping sprees.

Jewish Death And Burial Practices
Introduction
Burial has long been considered an important component of death; it is the mourners final encounter
with the recognizable, substantial body of the deceased. Every culture has to determine how to deal
with the physical remains of the dead, to find a way to honour their memory, and to go on living in a
society that is now deprived of one of its members. Burial traditions and practices have developed
throughout history and around the world to meet this human need. This paper will examine Jewish
death and burial practices from the Old Testament, the Gospels, and other New Testament accounts, as
well as archaeological evidence from first century Palestine; this evidence, when compared to recent

This was also the first of seven days of mourning. This mourning took place publicly, either just
outside the entrance of the tomb, or inside the tomb itself..
Burial in the Jewish nation most commonly occurred in a family tomb, usually a cave located outside
the city proper, and therefore away from where people lived. In the Old Testament, the euphemism for
death, slept with his fathers, references the familial tomb (eg. 1 Kings 2:10; 1 Kings 11:43; 2 Kings
15:7,22,38; 2 Chr. 26:2,23).
The Jewish people in the Old Testament showed respect for the dead by providing them with proper
burials. In Scripture, examples of burial of the dead date back to the days of the patriarchs (Sarah,
Gen. 23; Abraham, Gen. 25, Jacob, Gen. 50), the judges (Tola and Jair, Judg. 10; Ibzan, Elon, and
Abdon, Judg. 12), and the kings, both good and evil (Saul, 1 Sam. 31; David, 1 Kings 2; Manasseh, 2
Kings 21; and Josiah, 2 Kings 23).
In keeping with the Mosaic laws, even executed criminals were to be buried promptly, in order to
avoid defiling the land:
When someone is convicted of a crime punishable by death and is executed, and you hang him on a
tree, his corpse must not remain all night upon the tree; you shall bury him that same day, for anyone
hung on a tree is under God s curse. You must not defile the land that the Lord your God is giving you
for possession. (Deuteronomy 21:22 23, New Revised Standard Version)

In 1973, Las Fuerzas Armadas de Chile staged a coup against President Salvador Allende, which led
Latin America to one of the bloodiest and violent takeovers it had ever seen. President Salavador
Allende served two terms and was known for being a Marxist, socialist, and communist. Because he

Golden Age Of Absolutism Essay
The Age of Absolutism, ranging from 1550 1800, was a period of time where monarchs successfully
gathered wealth and power of states thus allowing the world to witness the emergence of the Absolute
Monarch . The beginning of the absolutism unarguably originated in Spain with King Philip II who
remained in power for 42 years, claiming he ruled by divine right. Philip II not only extended Spain s
power during his time as an absolute monarch but also led Spain through a Golden Age from the years
1550 1650. Philip II founded academies of both mathematics and science leading to an increase in

What Is The Theme In All Summer In A Day
The short story All Summer in A Day, by Ray Bradbury is about the power of jealousy and

topics in the story. All Summer in A Day is about a group of kids, who all their lives have been living

Differences Between The Tempest Play And Movie
The Tempest Play v. Movie
The play The Tempest is a rather difficult play to follow in its written format. You have to carefully
keep track of who is talking to have a good understanding of what is occurring in the play itself. Just
like with movies it is easier to understand a play that is being portrayed by actors on stage because you
have the ability to view who is speaking with visual cues. Comparing the written second scene in Act
One of The Tempest written by William Shakespeare and the movie from 2010 which was directed by
Julie Taymor there are some differences like lines being removed, lines being shifted, and overall
easiness to follow.
During Act One, Scene Two of the play we start out by noticing that one of the main characters,
Prospero, has had a gender swap, which changes the name to Propsera throughout the play. Starting
out that is the only major difference that you can see, however the first line difference that has been
skipped occurs when Miranda says, Wherefore did they not that hour destroy us , which was
completely skipped in the movie adaptation (Shakespeare, 12). In some instances, the director might
have opted to make the movie a little bit more children friendly by removing lines from Ferdinand

  • 2. Samuel Taylor Coleridge Drug Use Writers are magicians, in a way; they open the gateway to the mind, and through colorful words inked on scratchy paper, show the inner workings and imagination of their brains. But is that all there is behind their works of art: only their brains? Do authors create some of their most phenomenal pieces using only a pen and their own minds? No, they don t. There s something sinister behind the masterpieces they create: drugs. Many authors, specifically authors during the Romantic Era, such as Thomas de Quincey, John Keats, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge were dependent on drugs either for medicinal or recreational purposes (Victorian Drug Use). Drugs fueled the creative drive those authors needed for their writing. But it doesn t end there. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But what about Stephen King? He was also a slave to drug addiction, just like these Romantic writers. Being a modern day author doesn t make him any less of a subject to drug abuse. In fact, despite the new knowledge about the dangers of drugs, knowledge that people of the Romantic era didn t have the luxury of possessing, he still took them, and he paid the ... • 3. Globe Theater Summary Charles Liu English 2 H Smith Period 6 16 October 2014 Shrewsearch Globe Theater Summary(475) The Globe Theater was established by Shakespeare s acting company, Lord Chamberlain s Men, in 1599. It was composed of 5 brilliant actors: Augustine Phillips, Will Kempe, Thomas Pope, John Heminge, and William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s wealth and career developed in this theater, which showed some of his plays like Henry VII. A funny incident that occurred during the showing of this play on June 29, 1613 was that a fireball special effect was miss shot and hit the theater, sending it to flames. The theater was quickly rebuilt within 2 years and started showing plays to the citizens once again. The Globe Theater was a hexagonal structure with a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could have had an emphasis on social class and identity. Religious reasons could also play a major role in deciding styles for clothing. Generally men of this period wore heavily puffed clothing of a silk or thick cotton material. These also had the benefits of warming one up in a cold winter day. Layers were used in outfits to create a puffing image. The outfit would usually be completed with a fur, leather, or velvet hat. Because of Spain s growing empire, the influence from this region brought over a variety clothing styles. It seems that generally people back then all wore thick layers even in hot weather. Outfits were very structured and rigid, possibly due to preserving a straight back for great posture and manners. Many accessories were added to increase one s image and social stature. Usually, outfits included a black color. This is the first time that black is introduced into clothing. Black clothes would have the effect of making one seem sleeker in figure and it would complement many different colors of inside layers or accessories. Black has the great effect of highlighting colors on top of the mono color surface. People back then could have worn this color to show off their power by emphasizing the silver or gold jewelry. In this period of time, slimmer shoe designs were introduced for men. They would occasionally have ribbon decor on them in a puffing format. This made walking or doing daily activities easier because the shoes were more comfortable. Codpieces also became popular in men s fashion of this time. In women s fashion, dresses were more popular. Like in many older civilizations, very rigid and structures dresses were used. These were basically cases for humans to help them keep a good posture and figure. The insides of the dresses would be lined with wire to restrict the woman s figure and squish and mold the body into a certain hourglass shape. The torso would be

  • 5. Heritage Minutes By Terry Fox Essay The one minute heritage video titled Heritage Minutes: Terry Fox goes on to talk about Fox s journey through Canada with an amputated leg while raising money for cancer research. The video shows not only Fox but many people supporting his journey which not only included Canadians watching his marathon but also family members who came along during the journey and assisting with keeping track of funds, his length and also his health. It is evident that this had taken place in Canada as there were many Canadian symbols throughout the film and was also mentioned. However, it is hard to tell the exact location as to where everything took place. We can notice the various weather conditions that were seen throughout the film which ranged from rainy to sunny days. We can also note that the video had been filmed during many times of the day. In the beginning, we see Fox running on an empty road before sunrise and then we progress into a busier time period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Important parts to Fox story such as when he says I take one mile at a time, 26 miles a day It is possible to go through Fox s history, which there is not a ton of information on in the video, in more details and how he came up to the moment in his life where he would take one mile at a time, 26 miles a day. Information such as his background and what his life was like before being diagnosed was a key feature that was definitely left out. Although the film does mention how cancer happens to people all the time and how Fox wasn t special, the video could have mentioned how he considered himself as not special by saying that he was a man who loved playing basketball and played for Simon Fraser University. 2 We also are not told about how in 1970, he penned a letter to the Canadian Cancer Society telling them how he believed in miracles and that he had intended to run across Canada. This led to Fox being able to receive many partnerships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Impact Of The Romani Communities And Mainstream Slovak... The continued disparity between the Romani communities and mainstream Slovak society has been further highlighted recently by their children now being forced to attend ethnically segregated mainstream schools and classes. The continued investment in so called container schools can drastically hinder the Romani children s ability to advance to a higher education. It can also become a hurdle preventing this community to gain sufficient employment to survive and therefore be a full contributor to the country they call home. By looking at the Republic of Slovakia under the following headings; political, military, economic, social, infrastructure, information, physical environment and time (PMESII PT), gaps can be seen that continue to allow for human rights issues like that with the Roma today to be in the forefront. TIME The history of the Slovak nation began in the eleventh century when it was ruled by Hungary. The Slovaks ancestors were identified as inhabitants of Upper Hungary (more simply known as The Highlands ). By the nineteenth century, despite the drive by the Hungarian rulers to Magyarize the multiethnic population of their kingdom, the Slovaks had created a mythologized identity, linking themselves with the ninth century Slavic kingdom of Great Moravia. In 1918, at the end of World War I, Slovakia materialized as its own geopolitical unit, not on its own however, but within the new country of Czechoslovakia. The wicked and wild wind is an example of all his temptations that he faced as a king as they blew down the doors to let him in, meaning allowing them to take control of him. Along with the figurative language, there is diction. The writer uses the words wicked and shattered to explain how bad his situation was. Furthermore, another quote from the song is, One minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on me, and I discovered that my castles stand upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand, (Coldplay 10 14). The verdict went in their favor, and against Spirit, the group whose instrumental song, Taurus, they were accused of plagiarizing in creating their mega million selling hit song. Though a chromatic descending arpeggiated scale that skips the E note is featured in both songs, making a part of Stairway to Heaven sound similar to a part of Taurus, the jury panel appeared to base its unanimous decision on Thursday on the fact that the two songs, to their ears, had more differences than similarities between them, according to Entertainment Weekly. The decision that Led Zeppelin did not plagiarized the song by Spirit, written by the band s late guitarist and songwriter, Randy Wolfe, was reached by a jury in a federal court room in Los Angeles after a trial that lasted a week. Wolfe passed away in 1997. The case was brought against Led Zeppelin by Michael Skidmore, a trustee of the estate of Wolfe. Currently, mainstream neutron detectors are comprised of counter tubes and scintillators;9 however, a new, faster, and more sensitive technique is needed. To do this, semiconductor material is expected as a new neutron detector, and was already proposed in many applications. The neutron detector using semiconductor material like boron carbide (BC) or microstructured Si substrate was proposed and developed.10 12 Such neutron detection devices require a high quality pn diode property, the material selection of neutron capture cross section, and the selection of semiconductor material for low γ ray detection sensitivity. For this purpose, 10B atoms, which have large neutron capture cross sections, could potentially be used along with gallium nitride (GaN) as a wide gap semiconductor. Stroke And Infarction With Hormonal Contraception Stroke and Infarction with Hormonal Contraception During one year, one in 3,000 women who are taking oral contraceptives will develop a blood clot (James, n.d.). These blood clots can lead to more dangerous events such as a thrombotic strokes or myocardial infarctions. Through a nursing research article from The New England Journal of Medicine, a study was conducted in Denmark to assess the risks of taking oral contraceptives and its correlation with stroke and infarction. The article explains the purpose, the subjects of the study, how the subjects were protected, findings, and implications that may be used for practice. The pathophysiology of how oral contraceptives cause blood clots and how these blood clots cause strokes and infarctions will also be discussed. A thrombotic embolism appears to correspond with the estrogen dosage. Estrogen/progestogen oral contraception affects blood clotting by increasing plasma fibrinogen and the activity of coagulation factors, thus making the blood more prone to clotting. The inhibitor of coagulation is usually decreased as well. Platelet activity is also enhanced with acceleration of aggregation (Bonnar, 1987). These changes that occur in the blood while taking oral contraceptives create a state of hypercoagulability. Hypercoagulable state means there is an abnormally increased shift toward blood clotting. The hypercoagulability state of the blood causes the formation of blood clots that travel to the brain or the heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China. Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual development. Teen Pregnancy Norms Affected by Race, Religion, and Social Status INTRODUCTION Teen pregnancy is a controversial issue that Americans are facing in society today. The problematic behavior that comes along with teen pregnancy is a cultural phenomenon that exists on many domains. A bulk of the teenage population is starting to believe that teen pregnancy is customary and okay. A persons background has a lot to say about how weakly or strongly this norm is enforced. Although it is difficult to get a full variation of pregnancy norms in high schools across the nation, the three main aspects that influence teen pregnancy are race, religion, and social status. It is hypothesized that social status has the highest correlation to teenage pregnancy. If a teenager s status were to change, they would feel pressured to hold up to that new status and norm. If a teenager were to move up in their social status, they would feel as though they would have to live up to the expectations of that new social structure. The direction in which your social status moves determines the rise or fall of the next generation. Questions such as why more and more women in high school are getting pregnant are both difficult to tackle experimentally and highly charged socially. The poem is written in the form of a love poem using the traditional love elegy format also known as carpe diem and is divided into three stanzas or poetic paragraphs. It s spoken by a nameless man, who doesn t reveal any physical or biographical details about himself, to a nameless woman, who is also anonymous. The beauty of the language and the overwhelming focus on the woman s beauty, the respect shown therein, makes the poem quite progressive and intriguing. The man aims not only to smooth talk but also to impress her. To confront the concept of time, he uses biblical references to mark the permanent nature of reality. By using a story out of the Old Testament the image of the great flood that purged the earth as a start point and then used the image that Armageddon will ultimately occur at the conversion of the Jews as an end point, the man tries to show the vastness of predicted human existence. At the same time however he subtly hints toward the second more nihilistic section of the poem. This imagery it is interesting in two respects; first it suggests that physical human life has been ended by God and will be ended by him again. The interaction between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator prey interactions on community ecology. This in turn protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240). Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region. Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. With this statement, a deeper look into the measures that sum up strategic behavior and game theory is essential for an understanding of a firm s decision in the global economy. Strategic Behavior Definition As oligopolists compete for advantages in their market, they must make decisions about the approach they take. Strategic behavior is the plan the oligopolist takes after understanding all of the measures that will go into the plan as well as the opportunity costs by not choosing other plans (Salvatore, 2015). These actions are taken into consideration by the competitors in the industry as well. They then must arrange or manipulate their plan in order to compete. Role in Economics Strategic behavior is what drives a company into a competitive market with the tools to be successful. If the leaders in a company do not take into account all of the criteria that establishes a strategic behavioral plan, they will not be able to compete in the industry at their highest potential. Burial in the Jewish nation most commonly occurred in a family tomb, usually a cave located outside the city proper, and therefore away from where people lived. In the Old Testament, the euphemism for death, slept with his fathers, references the familial tomb (eg. 1 Kings 2:10; 1 Kings 11:43; 2 Kings 15:7,22,38; 2 Chr. 26:2,23). In Scripture, examples of burial of the dead date back to the days of the patriarchs (Sarah, Gen. 23; Abraham, Gen. 25, Jacob, Gen. 50), the judges (Tola and Jair, Judg. 10; Ibzan, Elon, and Abdon, Judg. 12), and the kings, both good and evil (Saul, 1 Sam. 31; David, 1 Kings 2; Manasseh, 2 Kings 21; and Josiah, 2 Kings 23). In keeping with the Mosaic laws, even executed criminals were to be buried promptly, in order to avoid defiling the land: When someone is convicted of a crime punishable by death and is executed, and you hang him on a tree, his corpse must not remain all night upon the tree; you shall bury him that same day, for anyone hung on a tree is under God s curse. You have to carefully keep track of who is talking to have a good understanding of what is occurring in the play itself. Just like with movies it is easier to understand a play that is being portrayed by actors on stage because you have the ability to view who is speaking with visual cues. Comparing the written second scene in Act One of The Tempest written by William Shakespeare and the movie from 2010 which was directed by Julie Taymor there are some differences like lines being removed, lines being shifted, and overall easiness to follow. During Act One, Scene Two of the play we start out by noticing that one of the main characters, Prospero, has had a gender swap, which changes the name to Propsera throughout the play. Starting out that is the only major difference that you can see, however the first line difference that has been skipped occurs when Miranda says, Wherefore did they not that hour destroy us , which was completely skipped in the movie adaptation (Shakespeare, 12). In some instances, the director might have opted to make the movie a little bit more children friendly by removing lines from Ferdinand (page 24 line 448) talking about Miranda s virginity (00:26:48 00:26:59). Some interpretations of the play by the actors and or directors that make the movie easier to follow is when Ferdinand draws his sword, which he does after Prospera raises her ...
