Spice Girls Research Paper
The five original members of the Spice Girls haven t appeared on stage together since 2012, but if one
member has her way, that will change in 2016.
According to the Daily Mail, Mel B, known during her Spice Girls days as Scary Spice, appeared on
Alan Carr s New Year s Specstacular and the host asked the singer if a reunion of the epic pop group is
in the cards. Once again, Mel B confirmed that the ambassadors of girl power will reunite in 2016 to
mark their 20th anniversary.
To be serious, it is our twentieth anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate so
hopefully something will be happening pretty soon. I can t tell you what it is yet!

Their 2007 reunion tour earned the band an estimated $107.5 million in ticket sales and merchandise.
While none of the members are broke, Victoria Beckham s estimated $300 million net worth means
that she doesn t need to tour to stay afloat. That coupled with the band s well received appearance at
the 2012 Olympics in Lodon, might make Victoria Beckham reluctant to risk the band overstaying
their welcome with a reunion tour.
The Spice Girls At the height of the Spice Girl s fame, the Spice Girls sold 85 million records and
starred in a movie inspired by their lives, Spice World. Their skimpy clothes, outlandish antics, and
sometimes racy lyrics ushered in an era of pop music dominated by girl groups that continues today
with artists like Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Their female positive message, summarized in the slogan
girl power, became a rallying cry for teenage girls and young women in the late 90s.
Spice Girl fans of the world unite! Dig out your platform shoes and wild print pants. Just skip the
ponytail thong and pencil thin eyebrows. Not even the Spice Girls could pull off that look.

Crafting Winning Strategies in the Wine Industry
CRAFTING WINING STRATEGIES IN A MATURE MARKET
The Wine Industry in U.S has shown that although they are the fourth largest producer of wine, they
still in the 34th place in world wine consumption according to statistics in 2001. The industry
competion is matter that involves understanding the industry structure and ¿ how the fives forces
affect the competition, consumption and the structure in the industry in U.S? Furthermore of this
analysis, the fives forces approach is necessary to understand how companies can compete and use
this forces to take advantages of weaknesses of the wine industry.

Power of Customers
As the market is not highly concentrated, the volumes of purchases by customer are not really high,
the market products are differentiated, the buyer power is low. The industry has detected that
customers are interested in price and quality, as result of this it has segmented in premium and budgets
wines, giving the chance to every customer to find a wine that adjust to its necessities. But a fact is
that consumers don t know much about wines and this decrease consumption, its necessary to create
more conscious customers that became more regularly consumers.
Threat of substitutes
The threats of substitutes are considerable high due that only 10% of Americans drank wine regularly;
the other 90 % prefers other alcoholic s beverages as beer or whiskey, this lead in a weakness for the
industry and in a necessity to conscious more people of drinking wine, in addition 80% of wine
drinkers think that their knowledge in wine is average or below, that results decreases consumption
because of the lack of knowledge of the different kinds of wine, now the industry is focusing in older
and wealthy people, and there is and opportunity to expand to other segments.
Rivalry among existing Competitors
Right now the industry is competing in tow strategic groups: budget and premium segments, and there
is intense competitions in the budget segment were the key is the price; additionally the distribution

Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron
Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron
Cait McCormick
28 November 2016
PHYSICS 1750 01A
Professor Hoogewerff
Objective:
The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform
magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the
equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m .
Theory:
For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a
uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to
feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r
The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q(
v ⃗ × B ⃗)
Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to
mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to
model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration
voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2
Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we

that Colonel William Prescott, due to the fact that fortifying the hill in the midnight, selected the

What Is L K s Target Market
The target market segment of young women is a part of a demographic of young adults (18 29) of
whom 90% use social media. Thus, L K will have to develop an excellent social media and presence
to maximize their potential impact on their target market segment. As well, higher income and higher
educated household are more likely to use social media another group L K would like to target.
Additionally, the first outlet store of L K in Stillwater, Oklahoma can take advantage of the social

L K will need to compete on the basis of quality and justify its higher price to customers. We will do
this by providing superior customer service to the women who visit our store and by providing
services which are entirely lacking in large department stores. Our fashion consultation services will
be one of the two services which will set our store apart from our competition. These services exist for
men in department stores such as Men s Warehouse, but are entirely lacking for women searching for
professional wear. L K will appeal to our customer basis by training our staff in the latest professional
fashion trends, general fashion principles, and in superior customer care. Additionally, we can
compete with larger department stores through the competitively priced tailoring services we will
provide for our customers for any suit they purchase through L K for the lifetime of the suit. Large
department stores do not offer this service, complimentary or not, for professional suits purchased by
their customers. Often, the suits women buy at these stores do need to be tailored to fit the specific
body type of the woman. However, tailoring services are expensive to utilize and difficult to find a

Pros And Cons Of Vice President Joe Biden
This week, speculation about a potential presidential run from Vice President Joe Biden has increased.
Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son, Beau, has caused
him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. She reports that he has been meeting with friends and
family about becoming a candidate. Dowd never named any sources and the credibility of the report is
not good. But it has ignited a debate this week over whether the 72 year old Vice President, will run,
should run, and any possible question less certain the media can ask than Will Hillary win the
Democratic nomination? Biden has not ruled out a third presidential campaign but has done nothing to
indicate one either. Aides say many condolence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biden is well liked by nearly everyone in Washington and his supportive role in the Obama
administration has helped his stature. He s seen as an authentic and funny guy. While Biden makes a
great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for president. Biden
s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches
from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in
2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national
security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense wrote that he found him nearly
always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security. Despite recent drop in polling
numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s garnered more endorsements at this
stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68 million dollars. Biden doesn t have a
significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If voters are tired of Obama and Democrats,
they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned
about a 72 year old executing the duties of vice president, most don t know what a vice president does.
Biden would be 74 on the date of his potential inauguration. Reagan was nearly 70. If for some reason
Clinton bombs out of the race, Biden is the candidate with the best odds. But until then, the odds of
him winning the Democratic nomination aren t good enough for him to

White Privilege Vs White Race
Inequality has two components in respect to power, privilege and social status: political imbalance at a
social level and prejudice on the individual level. Race superiority in regards to white privilege by its
very nature is a flawed premise! There is no white race; we are all a mixture of our ancestors DNA; by
some estimates ninety or more percent of us are technically mixed race. In my own family of origin
we have identified our origins to include, but not limited to: American Indian, Irish, Scottish,
Brazilian, Welsh, German, Scandinavian and Dutch. I was not raised with the idea or label that my
skin was white , in fact I was taught that white was the color of a crayon, the color of paint on the

My parents prefer that I check other on legal documents as a statement against the social injustices
brought about by society due to the identifier of skin color (perhaps, there should be a box that reads,

world. From my perspective, I am only left to either evaluate behaviors of the individual or a society.
Perhaps, my perspective has caused me to only see injustices brought about by individual and group
behaviors, not skin color. What we might try, is to stop fueling the ideology of white privilege. If
future generations (me included) raise our children with an attitude of equality based on behaviors
conducive to a society it would become part of the consciousness of our society. It s important to
remember that privilege even white privilege is relative. What we re fueling by focusing on the
negative is the negative. What we need to focus on is how we as individuals can change the course of

An Example Of Diffusion Of The Plasma Membrane
I. Introduction There s not much that comes to mind when it s time for that first cup of coffee in the
morning except hoping that it s strong enough to stimulate the mind for the time being. This real life
scenario is an example of diffusion. Simple right? When cream is poured into coffee it remains heavily
concentrated in the area it was poured at and eventually spreads throughout it. The more the coffee is
stirred the quicker the cream spreads even more. Sugar would do the same thing as well. This is an
example of how the interstitial fluids work within the bodies of humans. Interstitial fluids that enclose
in on a cell would be the cell membrane or the plasma membrane s doing. It creates a barrier between
the internal fluids and the exterior environment. When the body moves, the diffusing of the molecules
within it accelerates. The plasma membrane is made up of many substances, like salts, vitamins,
nutrients, waste products, etc... The plasma membrane dictates what enters and makes sure it s
sufficient. It blocks out the other substances that isn t needed. Also it happens to be selectively
permeable. This means either the molecules progress on without a hassle or there may be a little
difficulty to progress on. Materials traverse through the membrane by two methods, which are called
passive process and active process. In this lab passive process is part of the main focus. Energy from
the cell isn t a necessity when it comes to passive process. The word diffuse

Methods Of Error Detecting Code
Introduction The most common method of transmitting information include use of bit strings. It s
beyond bounds of possibility to evade errors when data is stored, recovered, operated on or
transmitted. The likely source for this errors include electrical interference, noisy communication
channels, human error or even equipment error and storing data for a very long time on magnetic
tapes.. Important to consider therefore is ensuring liable transmission when large computer files are
transmitted very fast or say when data is sent over a very long distance and to recover data that have
degraded due to long storage on tapes. For a reliable transmission of data, techniques from coding
theory are used. It is done in a such a way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in case this is done, errors will not only be able to detected but also corrected . In short , in case
sufficiently few errors are made in the transmission of a codeword, it becomes very easier to
determine which codeword was sent. the following examples illustrate the idea. Application include
television cameras. Hamming Distance when it comes to information theory, Hamming distance refers
to the number of bits which are the difference between two binary strings. expressed alternatively,, the
distance between two strings A and B is ∑ | Ai Bi |. simply put in a similar way is that it determines
the minimum number of substitutions required to alter one string into the other, or the lowest number
of errors that could have changed one string into the other. large application is in coding theory, more
specifically to block codes, in which the equal length strings are vectors over a finite field. Perfect
Codes Perfect Codes refers to those codes that achieve the Hamming bound .A good example include
those codes that have just a single codeword, and also those codes that are the whole of . Another
perfect example can be illustrated by the repeat codes, where each symbol of the message is
duplicated an odd fixed number of times so as to obtain a codeword whereby q = 2. Both of these
examples are often referred to as the trivial perfect codes. In the year 1973, it was confirmed that any

Betty Friedan s The Feminine Mystique
In The Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan presents several arguments that dealt with the issues of
personal engagement and equality that women of the time faced, calling it, the problem that has no
name. Friedan describes an ideal that middle class women of the 1960s were held to. She highlights
that women were chained to kitchens and their spouses and children, while their dreams of careers and
college degrees were suppressed. These women had goals and dreams, and they wanted more, but as
Friedan describes, it was nearly impossible to break through the feminine mystique. Friedan argues
that the stereotypes, occupations, and marriages that the women held caused the feminine mystique,
however, she misses important structural issues, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These women in offices and labs had to put forth tremendous effort to achieve their career goals, but
were left out of Betty Friedan s arguments, quite possibly so that competitors could not merely claim
that housewives were just lazy and taking the easy way out. Friedan also leaves out that after World
War II, jobs were actually available to anyone who wanted one, women included. The labor force was
no longer restricted to just men. If a woman wanted a job, she was capable of getting one. At the time
The Feminine Mystique was published, two thirds of the women in America were actually already part
of the working class. What it really came down to was how badly these middle to upper class women
wanted to work outside of their homes. By cutting out most of the working female population, Friedan

Compulsive gamblers should first be aware of their problems that they are unable to restrain
themselves from gaming and second, they want help. Willingness is the foundation and premise of the
self exclusion program. And then, they are required to provide information for state gaming
commission. The gaming commission will send those profiles to all casinos within their jurisdiction.
Once a gambler enrolls in the program, he has at least two obligations. First, to refrain from entering
gaming facilities. Second, to release the state and the casinos from any liabilities . As to casinos, they
also have obligations that they must not knowingly provide gaming activities to self excluded
gamblers and ensure that self excluded gamblers do not receive direct marketing materials. However,
no state imposes an obligation on casinos to prohibit compulsive gamblers from entering their
properties. Rather, most states prohibit the casinos from knowingly allowing compulsive gamblers to

In states like Nevada, it s hard for them to implement a self exclusion program to hundreds of casinos

procedures to help compulsive gamblers to self limit. Most of casinos in Las Vegas Strip put

lower. As the water samples were taken from surface sources and shallow, hand dug wells, where the
main F source are the highly weathered parent rocks, the low F concentrations were expectable.
However, since surface water and the shallow hand dug wells are the main drinking water sources of
the local population, we assumed the overall F consumption via the rock water pathway to be low as

In contrast, F concentrations in drinking water in basalt areas around Lake Magadi in Kenya, where

Motown Records Influence On Society Essay

Motown Records Influence on society Through the creation of Motown records Berry Gordy changed
the barrier between white and black americans and their music. Before Gordy come along to change
the standards of american culture whites and blacks had different labels and music. Motown Records
is the first record label to successfully market black artists to the white mainstream audience. (Dahl 12
15) Berry Gordy was the first African American to own a music label and have artists of different
races on the same label. In the 1960s racial tension was a problem because of segregation and equal
rights, For the most part, black artists were forced to record on white owned labels that regarded their
work as novelties, one offs and curiosities. (Ross). When Gordy opened the record label it started to
break down the tension between races. The reason the label opening broken down tention was because
Gordy didn t care about the color of their skin or where they come from. Berry Gordy founded

Gender differences also had to be dealt with accordingly also. Reason being, females average life
expectancy is roughly 6 10 more years (Data ranges over different countries) than males. Beginning

time and together rate the subjects personality with a given 25 trait dimension. Now that all of the
participant s dispositions were categorized accordingly, the next step was to create equations that
would evaluate a person s life expectancy at different points in their lives. Although several analyses
were made during this experiment, the focal one was the hazard regression analysis. This analysis

Proposition to Reface Mount Rushmore
Over the years, America has produced many people worthy of having their faces chiseled into a large
rock for all to see. Although the current Mount Rushmore possesses faces that are very important and
worthy, they are no longer relevant in today s society. The proposition I have for the re facing of
Mount Rushmore is sure to be relevant and inspiring to Americans for centuries to come. Edgar Allen
Poe was an American poet and short story composer whose writings have influenced literature for a
century and a half. Calvin Coolidge was a strong leader who was appointed to presidential office in
the 1920s. He also had a very awesome last name. Bob Dylan is a nearly prophetic poet and song
writer, the voice of a generation, and an inspiration to many. Jennifer (Stelter) Schubert is a tenacious
woman who has overcame trials and tribulations daunting to any human and came out on top. I
propose that the faces of Edgar Allen Poe, Calvin Coolidge, Bob Dylan, and Jennifer Schubert be
carved into Mount Rushmore for their impact on past and present American society, leadership
qualities, and overall awesomeness. Edgar Allen Poe is credited with the composition a poem that has
been extremely prominent throughout the past century and a half The Raven . But this was not the
only work that has stuck with Americans all of these years; Poe was a man of many talents and
troubles. Edgar Allen Poe was born to two actors whom he never really got to know. He was separated

the expansion of infrastructure. Buildings were built taller, roads were constructed more extensively,
and bridges connecting two areas of land separated by water were formed. As cities became larger,
populations increased, and with it, property values went up. As the population and land prices rose, the
urgency for taller buildings grew with it. However, all of this required a material that was strong
enough to withstand an immense amount of force. The higher buildings were built, the more likely it
was to collapse from enduring all of that weight. Large scale buildings were built through the use of
iron frames combined with glass or other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steel is an alloy primarily containing iron with slight amounts of carbon carefully controlled. Steel
provided both the strength of cast iron and ductility of wrought iron, making it a viable option for
constructing tall buildings, particularly the construction of skyscapers.2 These two factors enabled
steel to be molded into strong frames that did not require additional bracing for support, unlike iron.
Therefore, steel made building light and tall structures a feasible idea. The primary type of steel
favored for constructing tall structures were carbon steel. Carbon steel is a type of steel made from
iron and a tiny amount of carbon (2% to be exact). Iron is quite soft in its pure form, yet by blasting it
in a furnace, it becomes hard. However, this process results in the iron becoming more brittle at the
same time due to the high content of carbon as well as other impurities. In order to make it less brittle,
carbon is extracted from the iron until only a precise amount remains, creating steel. Iron is used
because it is fairly strong despite being brittle after coming out of the furnace and is also very
abundant. Carbon is used to make the iron stronger, and by controlling the amount of carbon in the
iron, the iron becomes less brittle. Through this process, steel is

Taking a Look at Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is something the Western society is very familiar with. Billions of dollars are spent
every year on these types of procedures The oldest type of plastic surgery is reconstructive, it
developed out of need to treat wounded soldiers during wartimes and help them recover after. This
type of plastic surgery is used to rebuild severely fractured bones, skin grafting, and implanting
prosthetics. Plastic surgery was then introduced to treat birth defects like clef lip, and remove skin
blemishes. This was the start of cosmetic plastic surgery, from the almost necessary correction of cleft
lip for children to nose jobs, face lifts, and changing size of breasts on adults. Cosmetic surgery may
be the most well known form of plastic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An elder man balding may receive hair transplants to his scalp to look younger and be more
competitive in the business. Separating oneself at the workplace with plastic surgery can almost seem
necessary, A women prison officer had cosmetic dentistry because she said she couldn t look like
someone s granny if she was to keep her status with the prisoners (Jackson 3). A true need for this type
of plastic surgery is repairing clef lips for children so they can properly eat and speak throughout their
lives without being or appearing different from other children. After surgery patients should consider
follow up psychotherapy or counseling after plastic or reconstructive surgery because of the drastic
change of their bodies can affect their social relationships. Typically children with birth defects have
been the most affected in social and schooling relationships, as well as older patients with other
deformities or disfigurement (Fey 3). There has been proof of psychological benefits from plastic
surgery, Dr. Eric Finzi, proposed that having botox can actually combat depression...if we can t
physically frown, we don t feel sad (Jackson 2). Dr. Patrick Bowler proves this in his study, women
who had botox were indeed measurably less negative than their non botoxed counterparts (Jackson 2).

The Four Noble Truths In Buddhism
The Four Noble Truths are the four central beliefs containing the essence of Buddhist teachings.
Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering?
Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it
also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended
to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and
attempts to rectify it. The four noble truths are a plan for dealing with the suffering humanity faces,
which is suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature. These four noble truths consist of the truth
of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the
path of that leads to the end of suffering. Buddha had learned that all people have one thing in
common: if they think about their own life, or look at the world around them, they will see that life is
full of suffering. The first noble truth is the truth of suffering, which is also called Dukkha. Buddha
had said that suffering may be physical or mental. Suffering includes when someone is suffering of
birth, old age, sickness, and death are all unavoidable, it is something that comes with life. Physical
suffering can come in many forms, but it is part of us as human to endure the suffering. As we become
older all of us find that life can become more

Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone, By Sophocles
A tragedy is a relative term for great sadness, but in the times of the Greeks and the Romans, the word
tragedy had a slightly different meaning. Aristotle defined a tragic hero as one who has a major
character flaw and experiences a tragedy leading to that character s downfall. The character must
experience a loss in fortune and suffer beyond what they deserve. In the story Antigone was written by
Sophocles, Creon can be defined as a tragic hero more so than Antigone. Creon is the king of Thebes;
he is stubborn but loyal. His loyalties lie with his city, and he believes that personal affairs come
second to the city of Thebes. After the rebels, atack Thebes Creon enacts a law stating that Polynices,
one of the rebels, is forbidden to be buried. Furthermore, he declares that burial of Polynices will be
punishable by death. In Ancient Greece a burial determined entrance into the afterlife. Creon reckoned
that Polynices was an enemy of the state who did not deserve entrance into the afterlife. However,
Polyneices sister, Antigone, wants to bury her brother. Antigone believes that family matters should
take priority over conflicts of the state. Additionally, because the gods did not proclaim this law
Antigone believes she should not have to follow Creon s law. Creon argues the point of civil law while
Antigone places power in moral law. Civil law is the idea that the person in a position of power makes
the laws and that no one, not even the king is above the law. Moral law is

Book Review Of White Fang By Jack London
For my first quarter project I have read the book White Fang. The book White Fang was written by
Jack London. Jack London wrote some of the most extraordinary works of fiction. White Fang is an
outstanding example. I now know why White Fang is considered a literary classic. White Fang
transports you to a completely different time and place. The setting of a book is key to the plot of a
story. The story is set in Canada. More specifically the Northwest Territories and around Fort Yukon. It
takes place during the 1890 s Gold Rush. Towards the end of the story Sierra Vista, California,
becomes part of the setting. White Fang is written in a third person point of view. Protagonists and
antagonist are the main part of the story. If you didn t have these types of characters the conflict may
not be as interesting. The main protagonist is a once wild wolf dog named White Fang. White Fang
goes through major changes and hardships through the story. Kiche was part of the pack that killed
Bill. She is known as the she wolf and she is White Fang s mother. She also left her owner but then is
found by her old owner s brother. One Eye is part of the pack with Kiche. He is White Fang s father.
He was killed by a lynx after trying to steal food from it. Weedon Scott then buys White Fang and is
his final owner. Collie is a dog that becomes White Fang s mate. Judge Scott is Weedon Scott s father.
Bill and Henry are two characters that help jump start the story. They are mushers who are

Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Beowulf
The eternal struggle between good and evil unwavering as always. This battle has been seen
throughout time and has been implemented into mass media. This revolutionary thought is used
consistently. Light and dark imagery is used in stories to differentiate between good and evil. The
entire premise of the story Beowulf is based upon one hero, Beowulf, attempting to eradicate evil.
Whomever wrote Beowulf used light and dark imagery to create a visual representation of places and
characters throughout the story.
Beowulf is a long narrative that contrasts light and dark. This story contains many key words that
differentiate between the two based upon the mood of the story. Some words from Hrothgar that
would lean towards a more happy tone, And then, in the morning, this med hall glittering/ (480 488)
the author uses this line to show that the mead hall is usually a happy and upbeat place. The phrase
glittering shows that the mead hall is clean and constructed before Grendel arrives. It also shows that
the mead hall was once bustling with many people gathered happily under one roof. ... Show more

Terror Management Theory applied to Ageism in Film
Ageism (prejudice toward the elderly) is becoming a pressing issue as the population of adults over
sixty proliferates (Levy Macdonald, 2016, p. 5). Enforcers of ageist stereotypes include the
mainstream film industry. By enforcing a negative stereotype, the media subconsciously implements
fear of growing old and ultimately dying among its viewers. To begin eliminating stereotypes research
of origins of these ageist views must take place. Terror Management Theory (TMT) has been a leading
theory in ageist attitudes research (Martens, Goldenberg Greenberg, 2005; O Connor McFadden, ...

224). These symbolic solutions may also create a sense of mortality for the individual by contributing
to a culture that will continue after their death, i.e., they are immortal (Popham, Kennison Bradley,
2011, 752). Research shows that putting faith in religion makes individuals less vulnerable to
mortality salience and death thoughts (Wojtkowiak, Rutjens, 2011). Therefore, the solution of
immortality creates a resolution for death thoughts but in turn is a coping mechanism to avoid
thoughts of our mortality as well.
Ageism in Young Adults
Ageism, in correlation with TMT, stems from an innate fear of death causing individuals to distance
themselves from the elderly. Ageism refers to the discrimination and prejudice to a specific age group,
mainly used to describe discrimination toward the elderly. When coupled with TMT, ageism develops
in people via coping against mortality salience and denying the body s physicality (Martens,
Goldenberg Greenberg, 2005, p. 226; O Connor McFadden, 629, 2012). Humans innately fear to die,
and aging is the path toward death thus, the fear of aging results. When individuals interact with the
elderly, they see an inescapable fate of their own. Now, ageism, coupled with TMT, is a culmination of
many fears toward aging. Martens, Goldenberg and Greenberg (2005) propose the main factors
contributing toward ageism include the threat

Analysis Of No I Do Not Want To Pet Your Dog By Farhad Manjoo
In the article No, I Do Not Want to Pet Your dog, by Farhad Manjoo, the author deeply expresses his
negative opinion towards dogs and their oblivious owners who believe that everyone s a dog lover.
The overall theme of the essay illustrates the lack of responsibility for dog owners have for their pets
as they run ramped through dog free zones. Manjoo deeply expresses his opinion, although lacks some
key supporting points and formulates mostly upon personal bias. With that in mind, I strongly disagree
with the author and believe that his main points does not accurately portray the issue related to dogs.
...........
To begin with, Manjoo s arguments against dogs and their owners don t appear logical and rather
sound more as a rant in attempt to get his point across. More specifically, I found Manjoo s arguments
rather abrupt towards the beginning while he stated his one sided opinion, rather than considering and
addressing those who many disagree with him. In doing so, Manjoo may have attracted a portion of
the audience of who agrees with him, while he only repels those with a neutral or positive view
towards dogs, with his negative and irrational tone. For instance, when Manjoo stated No explanation
was offered for the pooch s presence, as if it were the most natural thing in the world to have a dog in
a place usually reserved for human beings. Huh, I thought (224). In his claim, Manjoo comments that
dogs are found in places usually reserved by humans, the word

Research indicates that low education that occurs early in childhood has long term implications on
health and mortality. According the Canadian facts, when an individual has a higher education, they
have improved health outcomes. This is often related to the fact that education increases income,
employment and provides improved job security. Education also produces enhanced literacy.
Education allows for individuals to have an improved comprehension of the societal aspects that
influence their health. Furthermore, by having improved education, a patient can advocate for their
health, implement healthier lifestyle choices and seek out appropriate resources to enhance their
health. The literature also demonstrates that poor education is equated with increased hospitalization
stays, the use of emergency services and reduced medication compliance (Mikkonen, Raphael, 2010).
Recommendations for Change at Level of the Healthcare Provider
The recommendations for change to practice at the level of the provider would include first treating
the underlying problem that Mrs. Smith was admitted for. According to the literature, a progressively
worsening diabetic foot ulcer requires implementing a multitude of strategies to prevent amputation of
the limb. Adequate wound management, including debridement if required, and offloading techniques
should be instilled for Mrs. Smith. Furthermore, education by the provider would be of critical
importance for

The Current Economic Environment Of Lean Manufacturing
The current economic environment we are in, shared with increasing guidelines has placed
manufacturers in the challenging position of having to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase
productivity. Although lean manufacturing can well enough be the answer, some companies have
found lean manufacturing implementation to be an ongoing battle. Which is not to say, however, that
there have not been some major success stories. There are many obstacles to lean implementations.
Two Major Obstacles for Lean Manufacturing Implementation
One obstacle is the perception that the use of lean manufacturing solutions is, at best, nothing more
than a trend. In addition, at worst, a brief craze. It is often observed as nothing more than a
repackaging of fundamental industrial engineering principles dressed up in new clothes, and flaunted
in new terms to appeal to a new industry. Lean manufacturing is sometimes seen in many industries as
a collection of techniques, known to be effective in the auto industry, which some people are now
trying to impose on a completely different industry. This means that perceptions have to be changed.
Another major obstacle is gaining management and employee buy in. For example, decreasing batch
size is easy to see and not hard to influence in most industries. However, in many industries, altering
batch size also involves reducing the size of the blend, which, in turn, runs into renewed testing, and
several layers of approval. There will, of

Children Of A Child Protection Process Essay
There are a number of different organisations that may be involved when a young person or child has
been abused or harmed. This includes health visitors, GP s, the police, schools, the NSPCC,
psychologists, school nurses and probation workers.
Health visitors have a vital role in protecting children from harm and abuse because they are one of
the first to recognise children who are likely to be abused or neglected. They play a big part in all
stages of a child protection process including case reviews. They support and guide parents of young
children, provide developmental checks on children under the age of five, have contact with many
multi agencies and they support the work of the Local Safeguarding Children s Board (LSCB). They
are trained to a high level to recognise any risks that the child might be in and also they will visit the
children at home. They are in a position to gather information from very early on and therefore this
enables them to start the process quite quickly when any signs or concerns of abuse or neglect are
detected. The health visitor will need to have ongoing contact with the family if abuse or neglect is
suspected. Health visitors should use their own judgement on when to share information with other
agencies.
The role of a General Practitioner is to maintain their skills in recognising if a child is being abused or

Teaching sex educational subject at school should be done or not A review on philosophical and

Abstract
The issue of incorporating sex education in schools of Malaysia is still debatable. Some parents think
sex education in school is essential to Malaysian youths to reduce sexual related social problems.
While a greater section of people still believe that it is unnecessary to slot in sex education as a
separate subject in schools, as rudiments of sex education in schools are already included in a subject

In Malaysia, the Cabinet ministry has permitted to introduce reproductive and social health education
in the school curriculum after years of consideration. 160 pages of guidelines were produced by
Ministries of Education and Women, Family and Community Development. The guidelines covered
varied topics related to sexuality which included topics like contraception, kind of touching that is
permitted, risks of online predators, teenage crushes, sexual orientation and HIV/AIDS.
Malaysia is at present moving more into a superior and more urbanized territory. Equivalent to
development and evolutions, several challenges should not be overlooked such as gap in family
relationships and separation as well as societal and environmental problems. Regrettably, children and
teenagers are among the most susceptible and exposed to these kind ill challenges and threats. The
subject and its impact on children and young folk are of main concern at present to the Malaysian
government such as increasing rate of HIV/AIDS , escalated reporting of sexual violence against
children and adolescents with sexual abuse, juvenile crimes and many more. In such a situation,
parents need to take part in their roles to furnish their children with sex education. Though, commonly
parents are rarely seen as sex educators of the children because they are unwilling to discuss sex
related topics with their children.

Surface Area To Volume Ratio
Single celled organisms are small meaning that their surface area is big compared to their volume.
These organisms have a large surface area to volume ratio which means that they can obtain different
substances by diffusion through their relatively large plasma membrane. The substances have to
diffuse only short distances so they can diffuse at a faster rate and meet the organism s needs. Multi
cellular organisms have a much smaller surface area to volume ratio. Many of their cells are not in
direct contact with their surroundings so they cannot solely rely on diffusion to supply all of their
organs with oxygen and nutrients, as the distance from their surface to all cells is too far. Humans are

  • 2. Spice Girls Research Paper The five original members of the Spice Girls haven t appeared on stage together since 2012, but if one member has her way, that will change in 2016. According to the Daily Mail, Mel B, known during her Spice Girls days as Scary Spice, appeared on Alan Carr s New Year s Specstacular and the host asked the singer if a reunion of the epic pop group is in the cards. Once again, Mel B confirmed that the ambassadors of girl power will reunite in 2016 to mark their 20th anniversary. To be serious, it is our twentieth anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate so hopefully something will be happening pretty soon. I can t tell you what it is yet! The rumor that the Spice Girls would take the stage again in 2016 has been around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their 2007 reunion tour earned the band an estimated $107.5 million in ticket sales and merchandise. While none of the members are broke, Victoria Beckham s estimated $300 million net worth means that she doesn t need to tour to stay afloat. That coupled with the band s well received appearance at the 2012 Olympics in Lodon, might make Victoria Beckham reluctant to risk the band overstaying their welcome with a reunion tour. The Spice Girls At the height of the Spice Girl s fame, the Spice Girls sold 85 million records and starred in a movie inspired by their lives, Spice World. Their skimpy clothes, outlandish antics, and sometimes racy lyrics ushered in an era of pop music dominated by girl groups that continues today with artists like Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Their female positive message, summarized in the slogan girl power, became a rallying cry for teenage girls and young women in the late 90s. Spice Girl fans of the world unite! Dig out your platform shoes and wild print pants. Just skip the ponytail thong and pencil thin eyebrows. Not even the Spice Girls could pull off that look. • 4. Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron Cait McCormick 28 November 2016 PHYSICS 1750 01A Professor Hoogewerff Objective: The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m . Theory: For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q( v ⃗ × B ⃗) Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2 Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we ... L K will need to compete on the basis of quality and justify its higher price to customers. We will do this by providing superior customer service to the women who visit our store and by providing services which are entirely lacking in large department stores. Our fashion consultation services will be one of the two services which will set our store apart from our competition. These services exist for men in department stores such as Men s Warehouse, but are entirely lacking for women searching for professional wear. L K will appeal to our customer basis by training our staff in the latest professional fashion trends, general fashion principles, and in superior customer care. Additionally, we can compete with larger department stores through the competitively priced tailoring services we will provide for our customers for any suit they purchase through L K for the lifetime of the suit. Large department stores do not offer this service, complimentary or not, for professional suits purchased by their customers. Often, the suits women buy at these stores do need to be tailored to fit the specific body type of the woman. Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son, Beau, has caused him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. She reports that he has been meeting with friends and family about becoming a candidate. Dowd never named any sources and the credibility of the report is not good. Biden is well liked by nearly everyone in Washington and his supportive role in the Obama administration has helped his stature. He s seen as an authentic and funny guy. While Biden makes a great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for president. Biden s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. Biden ran for president in 2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden s foreign policy and national security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense wrote that he found him nearly always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security. Despite recent drop in polling numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s garnered more endorsements at this stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68 million dollars. Biden doesn t have a significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If voters are tired of Obama and Democrats, they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned about a 72 year old executing the duties of vice president, most don t know what a vice president does. • 10. An Example Of Diffusion Of The Plasma Membrane I. Introduction There s not much that comes to mind when it s time for that first cup of coffee in the morning except hoping that it s strong enough to stimulate the mind for the time being. This real life scenario is an example of diffusion. Simple right? When cream is poured into coffee it remains heavily concentrated in the area it was poured at and eventually spreads throughout it. The more the coffee is stirred the quicker the cream spreads even more. Sugar would do the same thing as well. This is an example of how the interstitial fluids work within the bodies of humans. Interstitial fluids that enclose in on a cell would be the cell membrane or the plasma membrane s doing. It creates a barrier between the internal fluids and the exterior environment. When the body moves, the diffusing of the molecules within it accelerates. The plasma membrane is made up of many substances, like salts, vitamins, nutrients, waste products, etc... The plasma membrane dictates what enters and makes sure it s sufficient. It blocks out the other substances that isn t needed. Also it happens to be selectively permeable. This means either the molecules progress on without a hassle or there may be a little difficulty to progress on. Materials traverse through the membrane by two methods, which are called passive process and active process. In this lab passive process is part of the main focus. Important to consider therefore is ensuring liable transmission when large computer files are transmitted very fast or say when data is sent over a very long distance and to recover data that have degraded due to long storage on tapes. Hamming Distance when it comes to information theory, Hamming distance refers to the number of bits which are the difference between two binary strings. expressed alternatively,, the distance between two strings A and B is ∑ | Ai Bi |. simply put in a similar way is that it determines the minimum number of substitutions required to alter one string into the other, or the lowest number of errors that could have changed one string into the other. large application is in coding theory, more specifically to block codes, in which the equal length strings are vectors over a finite field. Perfect Codes Perfect Codes refers to those codes that achieve the Hamming bound .A good example include those codes that have just a single codeword, and also those codes that are the whole of . Another perfect example can be illustrated by the repeat codes, where each symbol of the message is duplicated an odd fixed number of times so as to obtain a codeword whereby q = 2. Therefore, steel made building light and tall structures a feasible idea. The primary type of steel favored for constructing tall structures were carbon steel. Carbon steel is a type of steel made from iron and a tiny amount of carbon (2% to be exact). Iron is quite soft in its pure form, yet by blasting it in a furnace, it becomes hard. However, this process results in the iron becoming more brittle at the same time due to the high content of carbon as well as other impurities. Buddhism is a major global religion with a complex history and system of beliefs. What is suffering? Suffering is, the state of undergoing pain, distress, or hardship. Suffering exists; it has a cause, but it also has an end; and it has a cause which brings about its end. The notion of suffering is not intended to convey a negative world view, but instead a perspective that deals with the world as it is, and attempts to rectify it. My past involvement in the political stream was related to the quality of public education, for all children locally and state wide, my name was selected for the school committee City of Portland, ME, but did not make it on the ballot that year. • 29. Book Review Of White Fang By Jack London For my first quarter project I have read the book White Fang. The book White Fang was written by Jack London. Jack London wrote some of the most extraordinary works of fiction. White Fang is an outstanding example. I now know why White Fang is considered a literary classic. White Fang transports you to a completely different time and place. The setting of a book is key to the plot of a story. The story is set in Canada. More specifically the Northwest Territories and around Fort Yukon. It takes place during the 1890 s Gold Rush. Towards the end of the story Sierra Vista, California, becomes part of the setting. White Fang is written in a third person point of view. Protagonists and antagonist are the main part of the story. If you didn t have these types of characters the conflict may not be as interesting. The main protagonist is a once wild wolf dog named White Fang. White Fang goes through major changes and hardships through the story. Kiche was part of the pack that killed Bill. She is known as the she wolf and she is White Fang s mother. She also left her owner but then is found by her old owner s brother. One Eye is part of the pack with Kiche. He is White Fang s father. He was killed by a lynx after trying to steal food from it. Weedon Scott then buys White Fang and is his final owner. Collie is a dog that becomes White Fang s mate. Judge Scott is Weedon Scott s father. Bill and Henry are two characters that help jump start the story. They are mushers who are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Beowulf The eternal struggle between good and evil unwavering as always. This battle has been seen throughout time and has been implemented into mass media. This revolutionary thought is used consistently. Light and dark imagery is used in stories to differentiate between good and evil. The entire premise of the story Beowulf is based upon one hero, Beowulf, attempting to eradicate evil. Whomever wrote Beowulf used light and dark imagery to create a visual representation of places and characters throughout the story. Beowulf is a long narrative that contrasts light and dark. This story contains many key words that differentiate between the two based upon the mood of the story. Some words from Hrothgar that would lean towards a more happy tone, And then, in the morning, this med hall glittering/ (480 488) the author uses this line to show that the mead hall is usually a happy and upbeat place. • 31. Terror Management Theory Applied To Ageism In Film Terror Management Theory applied to Ageism in Film Frida Ramirez Lone Star College University Park Terror Management Theory applied to Ageism in Film Ageism (prejudice toward the elderly) is becoming a pressing issue as the population of adults over sixty proliferates (Levy Macdonald, 2016, p. 5). Enforcers of ageist stereotypes include the mainstream film industry. By enforcing a negative stereotype, the media subconsciously implements fear of growing old and ultimately dying among its viewers. To begin eliminating stereotypes research of origins of these ageist views must take place. Terror Management Theory (TMT) has been a leading theory in ageist attitudes research (Martens, Goldenberg Greenberg, 2005; O Connor McFadden, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 224). These symbolic solutions may also create a sense of mortality for the individual by contributing to a culture that will continue after their death, i.e., they are immortal (Popham, Kennison Bradley, 2011, 752). Research shows that putting faith in religion makes individuals less vulnerable to mortality salience and death thoughts (Wojtkowiak, Rutjens, 2011). Therefore, the solution of immortality creates a resolution for death thoughts but in turn is a coping mechanism to avoid thoughts of our mortality as well. Ageism in Young Adults Ageism, in correlation with TMT, stems from an innate fear of death causing individuals to distance themselves from the elderly. Ageism refers to the discrimination and prejudice to a specific age group, mainly used to describe discrimination toward the elderly. When coupled with TMT, ageism develops in people via coping against mortality salience and denying the body s physicality (Martens, Goldenberg Greenberg, 2005, p. 226; O Connor McFadden, 629, 2012). Humans innately fear to die, and aging is the path toward death thus, the fear of aging results. When individuals interact with the elderly, they see an inescapable fate of their own. Now, ageism, coupled with TMT, is a culmination of many fears toward aging. Martens, Goldenberg and Greenberg (2005) propose the main factors contributing toward ageism include the threat ... Analysis Of No I Do Not Want To Pet Your Dog By Farhad Manjoo In the article No, I Do Not Want to Pet Your dog, by Farhad Manjoo, the author deeply expresses his negative opinion towards dogs and their oblivious owners who believe that everyone s a dog lover. The overall theme of the essay illustrates the lack of responsibility for dog owners have for their pets as they run ramped through dog free zones. Manjoo deeply expresses his opinion, although lacks some key supporting points and formulates mostly upon personal bias. With that in mind, I strongly disagree with the author and believe that his main points does not accurately portray the issue related to dogs. ........... To begin with, Manjoo s arguments against dogs and their owners don t appear logical and rather sound more as a rant in attempt to get his point across. More specifically, I found Manjoo s arguments rather abrupt towards the beginning while he stated his one sided opinion, rather than considering and addressing those who many disagree with him. In doing so, Manjoo may have attracted a portion of the audience of who agrees with him, while he only repels those with a neutral or positive view towards dogs, with his negative and irrational tone. For instance, when Manjoo stated No explanation was offered for the pooch s presence, as if it were the most natural thing in the world to have a dog in a place usually reserved for human beings. Huh, I thought (224). In his claim, Manjoo comments that dogs are found in places usually reserved by humans, the word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Current Economic Environment Of Lean Manufacturing The current economic environment we are in, shared with increasing guidelines has placed manufacturers in the challenging position of having to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase productivity. Although lean manufacturing can well enough be the answer, some companies have found lean manufacturing implementation to be an ongoing battle. Which is not to say, however, that there have not been some major success stories. There are many obstacles to lean implementations. Two Major Obstacles for Lean Manufacturing Implementation One obstacle is the perception that the use of lean manufacturing solutions is, at best, nothing more than a trend. In addition, at worst, a brief craze. It is often observed as nothing more than a repackaging of fundamental industrial engineering principles dressed up in new clothes, and flaunted in new terms to appeal to a new industry. Lean manufacturing is sometimes seen in many industries as a collection of techniques, known to be effective in the auto industry, which some people are now trying to impose on a completely different industry. This means that perceptions have to be changed. Another major obstacle is gaining management and employee buy in. For example, decreasing batch size is easy to see and not hard to influence in most industries. However, in many industries, altering batch size also involves reducing the size of the blend, which, in turn, runs into renewed testing, and several layers of approval. There will, of ... • 37. Children Of A Child Protection Process Essay There are a number of different organisations that may be involved when a young person or child has been abused or harmed. This includes health visitors, GP s, the police, schools, the NSPCC, psychologists, school nurses and probation workers. Health visitors have a vital role in protecting children from harm and abuse because they are one of the first to recognise children who are likely to be abused or neglected. They play a big part in all stages of a child protection process including case reviews. They support and guide parents of young children, provide developmental checks on children under the age of five, have contact with many multi agencies and they support the work of the Local Safeguarding Children s Board (LSCB). They are trained to a high level to recognise any risks that the child might be in and also they will visit the children at home. They are in a position to gather information from very early on and therefore this enables them to start the process quite quickly when any signs or concerns of abuse or neglect are detected. The health visitor will need to have ongoing contact with the family if abuse or neglect is suspected. Health visitors should use their own judgement on when to share information with other agencies.
