Relationships Between Friendliness And Hostility And...
Abstract
In this study, we looked at the relationships between friendliness and hostility and agreeableness in
college students. We hypothesized that students who were high in friendliness would also be high in
agreeableness, while being low in hostility. We expected a strong correlation with agreeableness, and a
slightly strong correlation with hostility. However, when looking at all three traits we found that
agreeableness, while being the big umbrella it is, might not fully account for traits underneath it. As
well as friendliness and hostility having a stronger negative correlation than we anticipated.
Keywords: Friendliness, Hostility, Agreeableness, Personality
Friendliness in College age Students In this study we aimed to look at the personality trait of
friendliness. Friendliness can be defined as the good nature, amiability of one s personality. In other
words: how agreeable and outgoing one is towards others. Friendliness has been found to be more
prevalent in females than males (Moskowitz, 1993), and has been found to be generalized across
situations. In this research we want to look at college students to see if there is any significance
between friendliness and aggressiveness. To do this we have created our own friendliness scale and
compared it to the Iowa State Hostility Scale (Dill, Anderson, Anderson, Deuser, 1997) and the
agreeableness items from the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) (Gosling, Augustine, Vazire,
Holtzman, Gaddis, 2011).

African Influences In Latin American Music
On November 9, 2017, the Brazilian group Sol e Mar visited our class to share with us the diverse
music of Brazil. One of the first things the speaker explained, that was already explained in a class
lecture, was that in colonies with Catholic colonizers, African customs were kept, unlike some
Protestant colonies where the African customs were forbidden by the colonizers. As a result, in
Catholic colonies, mainly in Latin America, the African population was able to maintain their culture
and music. Today, one can the African influences in Latin American music. In addition, the guest also
explained that due to the immense size of Brazil, there are many influences and different genres of
music that developed in the different regions of Brazil. In addition to ... Show more content on

There is a subgenre of Samba known as Batucada that has exploded to many countries. One of the
famous groups that represents this genre is Olodum, who also collaborated with Michael Jackson in
the song They don t care about us . Furthermore, the influences of the Batucada have spread to soccer
stadiums ranging from Argentina all the way up to Mexico. For soccer games the hardcore fans
organize drumming ensembles which mix Batucada and Murga(from Argentina) styles, along with
singing to show their support for their team. Moreover, what shocked me, was that American Jazz had
a major influence in the development of a new genre in the 1950 s. This new genre was Bossa Nova,
which can be translated to new wave. João Gilberto is popularly known as one of the first pioneers of
making Bossa Nova popular not only in Brazil, but also in the Unites States. Our guests played two of
the most popular Bossa Bova songs, the songs were Garota de Ipanema and Mas que nada . Out of
these two songs the only one I heard before was Mas que nada , since it has been heavily used in

Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well
known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications.
A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a
terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation
against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the
tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as
his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human
conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all
answers.
With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that
hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn.
Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky.
After surviving the Holocaust the main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the
Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a
new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s
rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Essay
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Staphylococcus aureus is an important and common
pathogen in humans. It is found in the nose or on the skin of many healthy, asymptomatic persons (i.e.,
carriers) and can cause infections with clinical manifestations ranging from pustules to sepsis and
death. Most transmission occurs through the contaminated hands of a person infected with or carrying
S. aureus. MRSA infections frequently are encountered in health care settings (Lowy, 1998). A
common cause of blood stream infections, pneumonia, endocarditits, skin and soft tissue infections,
and bone and joint infections, S. aureus infection is often associated with significant morbidity and
mortality. S. aureus is well adapted to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have shown that the rate at which MRSA colonizes and infects patients is significantly
correlated with the amount and nature of the antibiotics prescribed in clinics (van Belkum, 2001).
Cookson (2002) wrote that although community onset MRSA infections have been reported recently,
little is known about their epidemiology or prevalence of carriage. Community outbreaks have
occurred among injection drug users; aboriginals in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia; Native
Americans/Alaska Natives in the United States; and players of close contact sports. Reported most
commonly have been uncomplicated skin infections; however, community acquired MRSA infections
can be severe In his article, Cookson refers to a Center for Disease Control report of a 1999 outbreak
of community acquired MRSA in which four children in Minnesota and North Dakota died (Center for
Disease Control, 1999). Disease transmission can occur easily among inmates at correctional facilities,
where skin or soft tissue infections are recognized problems. Close contact among inmates may place
them at increased risk for transmission of skin colonizing or skin infecting organisms. To prevent skin
disease, all inmates should practice good personal hygiene, including daily showers, should avoid
touching wounds or drainage of others and should have access to sinks and plain soap. Personnel that

The And Of The Business
Alex, Bill, Carl, Devon, and Xavier are all Christians and want their business to be organized and
operated in accordance with the Christian worldview. Alex, Bill, Carl, and Devon father ran the
business as a sole proprietorship, but they want to form a business entity to own the farm. I am going
to be their accountant to help run their business the proper way and right way as Christians should.
They are trying to avoid a lot of paperwork, but they also wants to allow their cousin Xavier to handle
the day to day operations of the farm. Additionally, they want to know ways to minimize their taxes on
the entity. They want to keep this a family business; they do not want a stranger owning any part of
the business. I think this can be a great thing if their family is on one accord and want to expand the
business. When you start having outsiders, they could come in a try to turn things around within the
business and make a lot of unnecessary changes. With Xavier being their cousin, I think they have a
plan that will make the business successful. As stated above, in this case the form of business
organization used by the deceased father is a sole proprietorship. A sole proprietor is someone who
owns an unincorporated business by himself or herself (Sole Proprietorship, 2015). This form of
business organization is a business in which one person is in control of the management and profits. A
sole proprietorship has its disadvantages and advantages. With sole proprietorship, you

Elvis Presley Segregation
The King of Rock and Roll also known as Elvis Presley was famous and adored during the 1950 s by
the young adults all over the United States. Although the older crowd found his music and dance
moves very inappropriate, the teenagers adored and grew fond of his music which made this
Mississippi star controversial. In the very beginning before Elvis, the music that was heard around the
world was a lot of swing and jazz music that the Greats played. By Greats I mean well known artists
like Rosemary Clooney, Artie Shaw, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and so many others. While this music
was amazing in the 1940 s, a young man named Elvis Presley thought that the world should be
showed a new type of music to adore and love. Presley s career actually started when he became a
local star around Memphis, Tennessee. He recorded a couple of songs at a local recording studio and
had a huge audience response, that got him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Back then people had to go through this time period with three choices; to either support it, ignore it,
or be apart of it. I believe that Elvis created his music to try and help get rid of racial barriers by
music, and the critics at the time hated the thought of a white man singing black music . By doing this
it was shown that critics heavily disliked him and actually compared his concerts with screaming girls
and adoring teens, to Hitler mass meetings which screams insanity. There were even magazines that
were not on team Elvis Presley and they strongly showed it. For example a magazine called Look
stated in its 1956 issue, but Presley is mostly nightmare. On stage his gyrations . . . are vulgar . . . He
has also dragged big beat music to new lows in taste . . ., with this in mind people in the older crowd
have completely dragged this rock n roll star through the mud because of the little things that he has

Political Parties
One way to measure the importance of political parties for our country is to consider the many things
that they do, even though they don t do many of them very well. Political parties tend to help make the
act of voting less irrational for voters because sometimes having a party identification greatly reduces
the time and effort involved in voting for an individual. Large majorities (of voters) still admit to a
party preference and use parties to guide their voting decisions. They do so because, despite the
divisions within the party coalitions and regardless of how they feel about the parties, the party labels
still carry valuable information about candidates, continuing to provide the cheap, shorthand cue so
useful to rationally ignorant voters (Kernell et al., 563). For example, Republicans usually favor a
smaller and cheaper form of federal government. They tend to advocate for lower spending on social
welfare and lower taxes. While Democrats are more supportive of government programs designed to
improve domestic welfare and would spend less on national defense when Republicans are very
generous toward the Defense Department. Democrats are more concerned with fairness and equality,
Republicans with letting free enterprise flourish (Kernell et al., 564). Republicans are anti abortion
and gay marriage and would be supportive of allowing official prayer and religion in public schools
while Democrats would not agree with any of the above. However, not all candidates

Scopes Monkey Trial Research Paper
The aftermath of the Great war and the Great Depression brought on a dramatic social change in
America in the 1920s. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally different
beings; modernists and fundamentalists. While fundamentalists valued the bible, and lived by it in its
entirety, modernists were more self conscious and favored creativity and common sense rather than
the bible. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial began and new
theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the way of thinking.
The revolution in manners in morals is the direct outcome of new innovations studied in the twentieth
century. The Scopes Monkey Trial is a direct reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albert Einstein, famed psychist, offered scientific research that startled fundamentalists and excited
modernists. The huge influence the reject God was largely responsible of famed psychist, Albert
Einstein. His contributions in science left individuals unsure about the past and curious about the
future. Einstein theorized that space, time, matter, and energy were not distinct (Shi and Tindall 799).
His research left many to embrace the idea that there were no absolute standards or fixed points of
reference in the world (Shi and Tindall 799) . What was once said that God created all was questioned
with Einstein s research. Another man s research in psychoanalysis questioned the morals and the way
that people carried out their lives in the 1920s. Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst from Europe, heavily
influenced Americans because of his teachings about sex and behavior. Freud believed that the mind
was essentially and mysteriously conflicted by often unconscious efforts to control or repress powerful
irrational impulses or sexual desires (Shi and Tindall 799). His work gave life a deeper meaning and
influenced sexual liberation. Writers expressed their art through dreams and imaginations. The new
revelations bought on by Einstein and Freud changed the way of life for both modernists and
fundamentalists. Modernists applied the news ideas by applying them into their life by expressing
themselves through art, rejecting the bible, and imagine about the unknown. Fundamentalists stuck to
traditional values and believed in God. The new revelations weren t enough for fundamentalists to

Question: Although New England and the Chesapeake region were both settled largely by of English
origin, by 1700 the region had evolved into two different societies. Why did this difference in
development occur?
Thesis Statement: When talking about New England and the Chesapeake region, you have to consider
the differences in motives and geography. Consider economic situations (reasons for settling where
they did, reasons why they came to New England in the first place). One has to think about the family
development and demographics, as well as the government structure.

Families were coming and units. These people were mostly the Puritans who were coming to New
England for religious purposes. The New England colonies were founded as examples of pure
religion. The New Englanders would come to prosper through their hard work, thrift, and the quality
of their commitment to God and each other. The Christian values of charity towards another man
resulted in tight knit communities that embraced the idea to care for every member. John Winthrop
wrote, A Model of Christian Charity, while he was aboard the Arbella on the Atlantic Ocean in 1630.
In this writing he states that no matter what social class you fall under everyone must say close

The Old Ruins
Introduction The old ruins were enigmatic enough to catch and hold anyone s attention, those being
from 2020, with the old metal/glass boxes with silver apples painted over them in white and old
security systems that might randomly be tripped and start blaring, but nobody had been in them since
the weaponry testing, it was said that there was still some decaying quantum particles that might
sporadically release huge bursts of energy in many forms, generating plasma spurts and possibly chain
reactions. At least, according to the stories. There were other dangers too, supposedly there were
strange and twisted creatures there, and some that even used to be human, but I didn t believe those
ones, I wasn t fit for this society, I hate the laziness here, all the indoors, I wasn t made for this place,
this time, I always feel out of place, I had to escape, to be myself, what better place to do that other
than at the old abandoned ruins? I could get caught, or blasted with a plasma geyser, or tons of other
terrible things could happen, but nothing could be worse than the cooped up life I already was forced
to live. That was also why I couldn t tell my friends, they d only hold me back, and keep me from
going, that is also why I left at midnight, and without a ve hover(too loud, easy to track, and
noticeable) so I could be unknown to the world, and use muscles rarely used by anyone anymore.

Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and...
Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130
In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and
transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another
subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic
of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level
of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is
the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is
of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she
is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is
far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the
original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as
any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind
of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to
the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor
John Kerrigan concludes:
Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you
alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with .
This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of
emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that
trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither.
The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge
stereotype than an actual real life woman,

The Success Rate Of 12 Step Programs
The majority of research that exists on 12 step programs often focus on determining the success rate of
12 step programs such as AA. There is little to no research on problems associated with 12 step
programs or problematic areas of 12 step programs. The little research that does exist argue that 12
step programs are not structured for comorbid individual, they may not be the best option for mild
substance use disorder, and the central theme of powerlessness can conflict with a therapist s
theoretical orientation and be harmful to the therapeutic alliance. (Kelly Myers, 2007, Laudet et al.,
2004, L, Ingvarson, Richard, 1995). The National Institute of Mental Health (2013) has found that
43.6 million adults aged 18 and older have at least one mental illness and 45 percent of individuals
with one mental disorder met criteria for two or more disorders. The presence of comorbid disorders
can severely affect the treatment and outcome of individuals (Terra et al., 2006). Many studies have
found that clients with a dual diagnosis experience increased rates of hospitalization and increased use
of emergency services (Helzer Pryzbeck, 1998). It is easy to imagine how hospitalization can interrupt
treatment by making it difficulty for individuals to attend.
Despite the fact that mental disorders and substance use disorders often appear together, services are
often separate. It is no different with 12 step programs because 12 step programs tend to focus on one
theme. In other

Sylvia Plath Controversy
That s Not How You Bake a Cake, Sylvia Sylvia Plath was an American Poet known for her
confessional style with brilliant wordplay. She had an interesting life filled with love and losses.
Sylvia Plath was and is still a major source of controversy. Sylvia had a troublesome childhood
plagued with death and depression. She was born on October 27, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts
(Biography1). Her parents were Otto Emil, a German professor and entomologist, and Aurelia
Schober, a teacher (Poetry29). Sylvia had a relatively privileged childhood, until her father died when
she was eight years old (Poetry29). That same year she wrote and published her first poem Daddy,
which is based on her father (Poetry29).

Sylvia is best known for The Colossus, Ariel, and possibly her most controversial writing The Bell Jar

have dampened her depression and make her rethink suicide. Sylvia Plath had a major part in the
battle for feminism because she had such a difficult time conforming to the wife and mother roles in
her life (Learner1). I think that Sylvia did not want to be a part of the feminist movement, but instead
she was just handling her problems the only way she knew, through writing about them. Numerous
people speculate what sent Sylvia over the edge. Some possibilities are the feminist movement using
her as an icon, Hughes infidelity, or her father dying when she was at such a young age (Archive1). I
think that Plath s suicide had something to do with her being the jump starter for a movement and also
not being able to please or satisfy her husband, which in her era was one of the most important roles in

Different Types of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
Since the discovery of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome specialists have been trying to understand the different

Muscle Endurance Essay
Two of the main causes of poor posture are muscle tightness and muscle weakness, therefore it is
important to design a stretching program to improve muscle length, as well as a resistance training
program to improve strength.
Prior to commencing exercise our patient is to complete a warm up consisting of low intensity
exercise (approximately 40% of heart rate max), for between 7 and 10 minutes, this is followed by a
series of dynamic stretching exercises aimed at preparing the muscles for physical activity, improving
range of motion, and improving proprioception. This dynamic exercise program consists of:
1. Neck Rotations

SNAP Diet Analysis
The most challenging part about the SNAP diet was not being able to eat out. I have classes everyday
during lunch time, and as a result I eat out often. However, one meal from a restaurant is basically
what I can consume daily for this diet . Another challenge was calculating the portions size to ensure I
would have enough food for the four days. I tried visually dividing the can of black beans in four
equal parts. It did not work and in the fourth day, I had no more black beans. Similarly with the beets,
I was going to divide the can in four equal amounts, but then it would be a significant small portion,
and therefore I decided to share in three equal parts. Another great challenge was the quality of the
food. I like to eat my salad with olive oil and vinegar. However, olive oil would be too expensive, and
I decided to buy a light Italian salad dressing instead. The dressing had HFCS as ingredient, which I
usually avoid. Like the salad dressing, I would not buy a regular mayonnaise, but I could not find a
light version in the Dollar Tree store. The quality of the green tea was also bad, it even stained my
cup. To conclude my challenges with this diet, headache was a problem. I am used to ... Show more

Summary Of The Faces In The Mirror By Ty Burr
Why are people so fascinated with celebrities? What makes people want to be like them? What are
celebrities actually like? Facing these tough questions, Ty Burr in his essay The Faces in the Mirror
forces readers to question their own answers. By explaining the history of celebrities and the worship
of them, he gives readers a wealth of knowledge. Wisely, Burr immediately establishes his credibility
so that readers know they can trust his educated point of view. His essay is full of strong logic.
However, it lacks a substantial amount of hardcore facts. Furthermore, Burr effortlessly snatches the
reader s attention by using dramatic statements and achieving a sense of pathos. Burr s authority on
the topic, along with his convincing logic, and dramatic statements allow his essay to achieve a
remarkable persuasiveness to his essay.
In his essay, Burr instantly creates a sense of ethos. Within the first two paragraphs, Burr articulated
that he is a professional film critic for a major metropolitan daily newspaper (Burr 31). Because of this
statement, he gained credibility on the subject of actors. Additionally, he has interviewed a number of
actors and directors, ingénues and legends (Burr 31). Burr makes sure to give some examples of
especially famous stars that he has interviewed to further provide credibility. Some include: Steve
Carell, Laura Linney, and Kevin Spacey (Burr 33). Throughout his essay, Burr takes a position of
authority on the subject and writes with intense confidence in his knowledge. Furthermore, readers
swiftly realize that Burr has done plenty of research to make readers ponder their position. By proving
his credibility, Burr quickly and efficiently snatches the reader s attention and gives them a reason to
want to continue reading.
Using a long string of logic, Burr s writing is primarily the history of America s cultural obsession
with celebrities. While his logic is simple to understand, it is absolutely intelligible. Although he
doesn t provide nearly enough hardcore facts, Burr makes sure to include a few facts in an effort to
further his point. For instance, he draws attention to the fact that the man who shot and killed John
Lennon...made sure to get his autograph first

The Mystery Of The Chocolate War By Robert Cormier
The work of fiction delves readers into an environment that may appear foreign to us. The underlying
mystery of the story, is a pull as a device to keep our fingers eagerly turning the pages. The difference
between fiction and non fiction is just an illusion. The reality is fiction at its best can capture people
beyond merely reading is covering up the hard truth of non fiction. Truths are revealed about our
society, reality, and human conditioning. The mystery is solved by playing with the readers emotions,
leading them to take a different perspective on the view of the world. Fictional works are falsehoods,
that reveal truths in a more eloquent fashion rather than non fiction, by exposing corruption and
imperfections of the real world, such as issues of Nazism represented in three separate novels. In The

Seeking a Just Judiciary
In recent years, many people in the United States have acquired an oddly tilted concept of how the
judicial branch of government should function. Modern consensus postulates that the Supreme Court
is the final arbiter of the Constitution, and that its judgments cannot be challenged or changed except
through its own decision (Vieira). Curiously, however, this idea of giving the power of final
constitutional interpretation to the judiciary known in law as judicial supremacy finds no basis in the
text of the Constitution itself or in historical opinion. This doctrine is a modern construction, and it
poses an unhappily real threat to individual liberties in America. The people of our nation deserve a
judiciary that is just in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While one may contend that there were relatively few judicial power grabs during the lifetimes of
these two presidents, there is a disturbing new legal model that extends the power of the Supreme
Court far beyond its traditional authority of constitutional arbitration. In 1965, a landmark case known
as Griswold v. Connecticut came before the Supreme Court. The ruling was, as usual, long and
technical, but the legal precedent upon which the Court based its holding had many lawyers scratching
their heads and reaching for their dictionaries. The Court confidently stated that their holding was
based upon the right to privacy , which the justices had managed to locate in a penumbra, formed by
emanations from [the Bill of Rights] (Griswold). The word penumbra, which is used four times in this
particular ruling, is not often heard in the field of law, and for good reason. Of all things, it is a Latin
astronomical term that roughly translates to secondary shadow . Essentially, the 1965 Court was
calling the enumerated rights the umbra, or primary shadow, while claiming that there was a separate
set of unenumerated rights found in the penumbra (Griswold v. Connecticut). This idea of a
constitutional penumbra, which was never suggested before the ruling in Griswold, allows the
Supreme Court to invent entirely new rights and constitutional statutes, an ability that extends its
powers into

Persuasive Essay On Climate Crisis
As advances in technology and medicine lead to longer lifespans and lowered mortality from disease,
some people worry about overpopulating the earth. These people also argue that aid work will fuel the
population growth and demolish one of the only forms of population control. Melinda Gates explains
that as people work to provide more education and contraceptives to women in third world countries,
the birth rate will naturally decrease, especially as they worry less about having a child survive into
adulthood (Rosen). Currently there is enough to sustain the population and its growth in the years to
come; presently the issue is not the number of people, but rather, the distribution and effective use of
resources.
The World Economic Forum s Global Shaper Survey shows that most millennials agree that climate
change is the most urgent issue and that they can do something to fix it (Jackson). Bill Gates has
mentioned the possibility of a new charity dedicated to solving the climate change issue because he
views it as the most imminent threat to the survival and advancement of humanity. An article on The
Guardian even mentions that The foundation s annual letter for 2015 says their achievements could be
undone by the advancing climate crisis. (Mathiesen). Gates has even theorized that, at the current rate,
we could be facing serious climatic consequences in as little as 15 or 20 years.

Systems without a knowledge base, on the other hand, rely on machine learning to analyze clinical

challenge is that a CDSS must be integrated with a healthcare organization s clinical workflow, which

interoperability with reporting and electronic health record (EHR) software. Furthermore,
incorporating large amounts of data into existing systems places significant strain on application and

Natural Born Killers Analysis
The film Natural Born Killers , analyzes author John Grisham s main argument regards that of the
astronomical role of the film in the deaths of Bill Savage and Patsy Byers due to it s use of glorified
violence. The author uses information regarding the case such as the outstanding personalities of the
victims, the troubled childhood of the perpetrators, and the effect that the movie natural born killers

Grisham in his opinion piece unnatural killers asserts that Oliver Stone s film should be held

author s purpose is to give a detailed description of the case in order to try to get the audience on his

particularly to the youth. The author establishes a tone that appears to be objective, but it is clear even
from the beginning that it is biased in nature. To explain, Grisham is eloquent in utilizing facts and

Comparing The Civil Rights Movement And The Feminist Movement
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the United States encountered a variety of different mass social
movements that rediscovered the definition of America. Mostly, the different social movements
demonstrated a fight for equality and freedom, while others protested against government decisions.
Participants of these different social movements underwent a great deal of discrimination and violence
from fellow Americans to fight for their rights as American citizens. Two major social movements
during this time were the Civil Rights Movement and the Feminist Movement. Both of these
movements outlined a cry for freedom and a demand for equality amongst their different groups. The
Civil Rights Movement made a huge impact on the social status of African Americans, therefore, it
lead to the rise of other social movements to fight for their rights as well, such as the Feminist
Movement. The Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was the African American

The New Problem of Internet Addiction
With reference to relevant literature, identify and discuss a concern which has become a problem for
users of the internet.
Miniwatts Marketing Group (2009) stated that more than two billion people use the internet. The
internet is a world wide web of computer networks, all linked to one another. The internet enables
people to communicate almost instantly, research and access data or information, and is most
commonly used for email. The popularity of email has almost seen the demise of postal services
(Harris, 2007). This essay will argue that one concern for users of the internet is addiction, as millions
of users become consumed in the habit, with severe cases of internet addiction resulting in death and
violence.
Internet addiction is a habit addiction, rather than a form of substance abuse. According to Kimberley
Young it is the world s fastest growing addiction (2009, p 2). Perhaps the reason for this is due to the
many ways in which the internet can be used and how commonly accessible it has become in the
home or office. For example, the internet can be used for online shopping, virtual gaming, social
networking and aspects of the internet that are addictive. The concern with this is how the use of the
internet is impacting on a person s everyday living. Similarly to other forms of addiction,
inappropriate use of the internet can result in lost employment, broken relationships, financial loss and
even death. In an extreme case, a teenage addict killed his

Reflective Essay On Group Diversity
Through my work in groups, I have had to adjust my feedback and leadership styles based on the
different cultures of my group members. Every organization has its own unique spoken and unspoken
rules that define the culture. Culture is often simply stated as, the way we work around here. Cultures
are formed and change through a variety of environmental events, leadership, and experiences (Weiss,
Tilin, Morgan, 2014, p. 153). I need more here maybe?
When bringing students together from different backgrounds and cultures, it is anticipated to run into
some cultural diversity. While these differences are expected to be met with professionalism in all
settings, according to Weiss, Tilin, and Morgan (2014) we have a tendency to interpret the behavior of
others through the lens of our own habits of thought or personal bias (pp. 191 192). Upon acceptance
into the radiography program, I had a preformed stereotype or prejudice of my classmates. Because it
is a prestigious and competitive program, I assumed each member would strive to go above and
beyond to produce optimum results. My personal cultural bias was believing everyone would set those
high goals and do whatever it takes to achieve them. I have found in my classroom groups that some
members only do the bare minimum. They are sometimes unprepared and look toward others for
results. This impacted group communications because someone had to lead the group and bring more
insight when others were not contributing. It also made members do more than their fair share of
work. Some members had to take on more to make up for the lack of effort shown by others.
My group works together very well when providing feedback. We established that we all thrive from
constructive criticism and even welcome it. Feedback is important for all groups because knowing
what was good and bad about a performance or assignment is how you learn from your experiences.
By institutionalizing feedback strategies, power sharing becomes the responsibility of leaders as well
as members who provide each other with constructive opinions and supportive advice (Weiss, et al.,
2014, p. 141). So far my experiences in providing and receiving feedback within my group have been
mostly positive.

If I would have known that this storm was coming that bad, I would have left, she said in a laughing
manner. As she continued to speak, she talked about how they prepared for Hurricane Andrew. We
went out and brought cold cuts, flashlights, candles, we even tied down everything on our back porch
and whatever we could not tie down, went in our shed. I thought we prepared more than enough, but
we didn t. We prepared just enough. She explained how the storm was furious, how it was very
powerful and dangerous. When I asked Mrs. Brown was there any damage done to her house, she said
yes. Our big avocado tree that has been there for almost 25 years, fell and hit our back porch and or

Del Hardy s The Light In The Forest Book
The Light in the Forest book was about an Indian boy, True Son being forced to return to his white
parents that lived in Pennsylvania. True Son went back to his white parents and his younger brother,
after being an Indian for eleven years in Ohio. With him was a white soldier, Del Hardy that spoke the
Delaware language. Myra Butler, Harry Butler, and Gordie Butler were excited for his return. When
he arrived home, his Aunt Kate disliked True Son and his customs. His Uncle Wilse made fun of his
language and his people. Uncle Wilse hated True Son what he was, an Indian and slapped True Son.
True Son got into a lot of conflicts with other whites because of his Indian mindset. Half Arrow, True
Son s cousin found him on white territory. True Son and Half Arrow stole multiple things from True
Son s uncle. Half Arrow and True Son ran away together in the forest. They both stayed in the forest
until they came to their tribe again. True Son met with his Indian father, Cuyloga. The Lenni Lenape
planned an attack against the whites. The Lenni Lenape sent True Son in to attract the whites. Once
the whites were close enough, True Son warned them to go back. Since True Son did that, he ... Show

One is that True Son took a swing at Del Hardy in the movie. While on the other hand, True Son just
sat there and didn t do anything. Another difference between the book and the movie was that True
Son dropped and ate a the Mandrake Root instead of the May Apple like he did in the book. Next
difference was that True Son had no other siblings in the movie. In the book he had a younger brother
named Gordie. To go along with character difference, there was a servant to Aunt Kate and Uncle
Wilse in the movie named Shenandoah. Another difference was that True Son s mother put on a dance
for True Son so, that he could meet a girl and fancy her. At the party, Myra Butler put a ring in the
cake and had True Son give it to the person he liked the

Analysis Of Once Upon A Time
Once Upon a Time by Nadine Gordimer Imagine witnessing a family s surroundings turning before
their eyes as their neighborhood becomes dangerous by the days, also Having constant fears of
homeless people barging into their home and stealing their beloved items and food to survive. With
the family having to secure their home, the family s only son died from the things that were suppose to
protect them. As you well know the child ends up dead at the end because of over security. In the short
story Once Upon a Time Nadine Gordimer has a weird transition with point of view at the end of the
first page. This transition helped out develope the mood. The point of view of this story is unique
because of the transition. If the story had a different perspective it would change most of the story. The
story begins with the narrator (Nadine Gordimer) in her bed explaining an offer she had been given.
The offer was to write a children s book, but she didn t write children s stories. The same novelist that
had offered her the opportunity wrote in a book of his every writer ought to write at least one story for
children. Her job was to write an analogy of stories for children, In the first three paragraphs she woke
up from the stress and anxiety that she had. The stress had made her hear certain things. Nadine
Gordimer thought there was a person in her home. A creaking of the kind made by the weight carried
by one foot after another along a wooden floor. Soon she realized that

Essay On Why Students Should Get Free Tuition
Why should students with low income get free college tuition? There are a lot of people who don t or
can t go to college because it costs too much. Some students don t go because they see that their
parents are successful without going to college. Since they see that they can be successful without
college, they don t even try to go and spend all that money. Making college tuition free is not just a
benefit for students. Having free tuition is a benefit for the whole world. Some adults that didn t finish
college can go and finish college whenever they want to because they don t have to worry about
tuition. A few reasons why students can t pay college tuition is because they have bad credit, a low
paying job, or having trouble with living situations. I believe that the main reasons why students with
low income should get free college tuition is because students choose work over school, some are
single parents, and the students simply can t afford college.

College tuition gets higher every year so that means the amount of students going to college goes
down every year. A lot of students can t afford college because they were born in poverty. Students
born in poverty could have trouble getting to school because they don t have any type of
transportation. Trying to pay college tuition keeps students further away from having enough money
to buy a car. A lot of students that are just coming out of high school are young minded and want
material things instead of paying thousands of dollars for college. Students need motivation and know
the consequences of not going to college. They need to know that they can get into college without
having to pay thousands of dollars before they even get to

Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs
This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children
have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about
playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in
video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the
feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to
solve problems. Children who play video games may think and learn differently than those who do not
play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A
child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children
who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics
are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational
needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being
bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to
solve problems.
Technology s Impact on Childhood Development
Ever since video games were introduced to the world, the topic on whether or not they benefit or
decline a child s progress was a concerning and alarming question. This topic has steadily grown in

Aa Meeting Experience Essay
I might be different than some people in this class, I ve had already had some experience with AA
meetings and NA meetings albeit as a young child. I had a parent who would attend them from time to
time and my sister and I would attend. While this was many years ago, the setting was still the same to
me as it was then.
Going to these kinds of meetings is something that is quite simple. You find out where and you just
show up when it is convenient to you. There s no signing in, you don t have to pay anything, or make
appointments. There are no meddling questions, no commitments. Your confidentiality and privacy
will be appreciated. You won t be met with a mandate to come back to any meeting. You can go to
multiple or as little as you wish. Many have no idea what to expect in their first meeting. For some the
idea can be quite intimidating, so you will be relieved to find that your fears will be unwarranted. AA
meetings are stress free, welcoming and open.
It should be no surprise about the type of people that make up these meetings. In terms of gender the
meeting I attended had just a couple of more males than females. There wasn t a huge disparity in the
number though. Race was different, there was not a prevailing race over another. I think that it ...

preconceptions I had about alcoholics and A.A meetings were brought clearly out into light as false. I
used to think religion played a strong role, but I soon learned that the A.A. based upon religion. Many
just simply believe in a power that is greater, but that s not to say that it is a god per say. I can also
now see members continue to attend meetings even after they have been sober for a while. I think that
this is because alcoholism is viewed by many as an illness that cannot be cured and people most likely

Unlike our predecessors, the society is now affected by a manifold of dynamics which affect the ways
of life and the living standards of people. The change of society has created the need for citizens to be
more reliant on the politics of their country, the social conditions of the country, as well as the
economic prosperity that may affect where they live. In this report, the living standards of citizens in
different countries will be analyzed and shown. From observing the several countries in the world, an
analysis will be made to discover what makes the living standards of one country higher than another.
Several organizations are already performing this type of research, such as UNICEF; an organization
which would rather promote happiness and wellness of citizens in a country rather than only
considering the economical factors provided. Instead of solely judging a country by its GDP, or
essentially its numerical productivity, there is numerical data for happiness, otherwise known as the
Gross National Happiness1. This was created by the King of Bhutan, the leader of a communist
country, and the GHP was measured by the social, economic, and political conditions within the
country1. Used by major organizations now across the world including UNICEF, I also agree that a
country should not only be measured by the economical standards as it is not the only

Summary Of A Wall Of Fire Rising
Life can be a beautiful thing, or in this case of the short story A Wall of Fire Rising, by Edwidge
Danticat, life is an unpleasant thing. One of the main characters, Guy, is struggling to enjoy his life
due to living as a low economy family in the post colonial Haitian era. Such a life can cause one to
become crazy when seeing an opportunity to escape, but continuously being unable to reach it. Being
out of reach of his escape plan and left with no other option, Guy, places little value in life and
continuously thinks about hope for a better life. His aggressive characteristic traits are not an
expression of a strange personality, but rather a reaction to feeling broken. Trapped by his economic
status, Guy is out of reach of any opportunities to better his family s life. Because of this, he learned to
accept that being a permanent worker at the sugar mill would never happen. Growing older, he knows
he wants better for his son s life, but must keep up with the normal life his family belongs to. Many
years ago, it was determined that the men of a specific decent were the only ones allowed to work at
the mill. The Haitians of Lebanese, the sugar mill owners, were the workers because they had been in
the country for generations. As the narrator explains, The jobs at the sugar mill were few and far
between. The people who had them never left, or when they did they would pass the job on to another
family member who was already waiting on line (Danticat 97 99). Since Guy was viewed as a lower
class to the community, he worried about his son s future, but his wife tried to overlook the thought of
her son living like Guy. Multiple times, Guy tried to tell his wife about his escape plan to a better life,
but she blew it off each and every time. Due to the setting being post colonial, Guy never experienced
a great life. After his multiple walks to watch the state sponsored news with his wife and son, he
continuously notices a hot air balloon. The community knew the balloon belonged to the Assad
family; however, after leaving it on the grass by the mill it seemed to become Guy s center of
attention. The narrator explains, For the last few weeks, ... Guy was lost each time he reached this
point, twelve feet away

Examples Of Scapegoats In The Crucible
Scapegoating in the Crucible A scapegoat is someone who is blamed for mistakes of another, usually
for someone to avoid a sticky situation. We all have done it one way or another in hope to escape
some trouble, but the crucible takes it to a whole new level. In the crucible it is not about just being
grounded for a couple days, it is about life and death. Throughout the crucible there are multiple cases
of scapegoating as characters try to avoid being thrown in jail or hanged. Abigail is the biggest culprit
of using scapegoats to cast the light on someone else rather than herself. Abigail realizes at the
beginning of the play that if she blames someone else everyone automatically believes her because the
people think that the victims are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

prevent such issues, it is key to learn about the security of your network. Network security is the
protection of networks that help secure files and directories of a computer. It helps protect the user
from hackers, virus attacks, misuse and prevents unauthorized access. The importance of learning and
becoming aware of network security is important for protecting yourself and others around you. I will
be discussing the common type of attacks, methods to protect your computer from harm and discuss
what the future may hold for network security.
There are many attacks that can be associated with network security, eavesdropping, viruses/malware
and Trojans, phishing, IP spoofing attack and lastly denial of service. Eavesdropping, has two
subcategories passive and active. Passive eavesdropping refers to someone listening to a phone call, or
reading a chat email (Daya, Bhavya). Active eavesdropping refers to the hacker physically going in
and distressing the conversation (Daya, Bhavya). This type of attack allows the hacker to steal

  • 2. Relationships Between Friendliness And Hostility And... Abstract In this study, we looked at the relationships between friendliness and hostility and agreeableness in college students. We hypothesized that students who were high in friendliness would also be high in agreeableness, while being low in hostility. We expected a strong correlation with agreeableness, and a slightly strong correlation with hostility. However, when looking at all three traits we found that agreeableness, while being the big umbrella it is, might not fully account for traits underneath it. As well as friendliness and hostility having a stronger negative correlation than we anticipated. Keywords: Friendliness, Hostility, Agreeableness, Personality Friendliness in College age Students In this study we aimed to look at the personality trait of friendliness. Friendliness can be defined as the good nature, amiability of one s personality. In other words: how agreeable and outgoing one is towards others. Friendliness has been found to be more prevalent in females than males (Moskowitz, 1993), and has been found to be generalized across situations. In this research we want to look at college students to see if there is any significance between friendliness and aggressiveness. To do this we have created our own friendliness scale and compared it to the Iowa State Hostility Scale (Dill, Anderson, Anderson, Deuser, 1997) and the agreeableness items from the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI) (Gosling, Augustine, Vazire, Holtzman, Gaddis, 2011). ... • 3. African Influences In Latin American Music On November 9, 2017, the Brazilian group Sol e Mar visited our class to share with us the diverse music of Brazil. One of the first things the speaker explained, that was already explained in a class lecture, was that in colonies with Catholic colonizers, African customs were kept, unlike some Protestant colonies where the African customs were forbidden by the colonizers. As a result, in Catholic colonies, mainly in Latin America, the African population was able to maintain their culture and music. Today, one can the African influences in Latin American music. One of the famous groups that represents this genre is Olodum, who also collaborated with Michael Jackson in the song They don t care about us . Furthermore, the influences of the Batucada have spread to soccer stadiums ranging from Argentina all the way up to Mexico. For soccer games the hardcore fans organize drumming ensembles which mix Batucada and Murga(from Argentina) styles, along with singing to show their support for their team. Moreover, what shocked me, was that American Jazz had a major influence in the development of a new genre in the 1950 s. This new genre was Bossa Nova, which can be translated to new wave. João Gilberto is popularly known as one of the first pioneers of making Bossa Nova popular not only in Brazil, but also in the Unites States. Our guests played two of the most popular Bossa Bova songs, the songs were Garota de Ipanema and Mas que nada . Out of these two songs the only one I heard before was Mas que nada , since it has been heavily used in soccer video games and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications. A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all answers. With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn. Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. After surviving the Holocaust the main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is found in the nose or on the skin of many healthy, asymptomatic persons (i.e., carriers) and can cause infections with clinical manifestations ranging from pustules to sepsis and death. Most transmission occurs through the contaminated hands of a person infected with or carrying S. aureus. MRSA infections frequently are encountered in health care settings (Lowy, 1998). Studies have shown that the rate at which MRSA colonizes and infects patients is significantly correlated with the amount and nature of the antibiotics prescribed in clinics (van Belkum, 2001). Cookson (2002) wrote that although community onset MRSA infections have been reported recently, little is known about their epidemiology or prevalence of carriage. Community outbreaks have occurred among injection drug users; aboriginals in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia; Native Americans/Alaska Natives in the United States; and players of close contact sports. Reported most commonly have been uncomplicated skin infections; however, community acquired MRSA infections can be severe In his article, Cookson refers to a Center for Disease Control report of a 1999 outbreak of community acquired MRSA in which four children in Minnesota and North Dakota died (Center for Disease Control, 1999). Disease transmission can occur easily among inmates at correctional facilities, where skin or soft tissue infections are recognized problems. Close contact among inmates may place them at increased risk for transmission of skin colonizing or skin infecting organisms. To prevent skin disease, all inmates should practice good personal hygiene, including daily showers, should avoid touching wounds or drainage of others and should have access to sinks and plain soap. Alex, Bill, Carl, and Devon father ran the business as a sole proprietorship, but they want to form a business entity to own the farm. I am going to be their accountant to help run their business the proper way and right way as Christians should. They are trying to avoid a lot of paperwork, but they also wants to allow their cousin Xavier to handle the day to day operations of the farm. Additionally, they want to know ways to minimize their taxes on the entity. They want to keep this a family business; they do not want a stranger owning any part of the business. I think this can be a great thing if their family is on one accord and want to expand the business. When you start having outsiders, they could come in a try to turn things around within the business and make a lot of unnecessary changes. With Xavier being their cousin, I think they have a plan that will make the business successful. As stated above, in this case the form of business organization used by the deceased father is a sole proprietorship. A sole proprietor is someone who owns an unincorporated business by himself or herself (Sole Proprietorship, 2015). • 9. Elvis Presley Segregation The King of Rock and Roll also known as Elvis Presley was famous and adored during the 1950 s by the young adults all over the United States. Although the older crowd found his music and dance moves very inappropriate, the teenagers adored and grew fond of his music which made this Mississippi star controversial. In the very beginning before Elvis, the music that was heard around the world was a lot of swing and jazz music that the Greats played. By Greats I mean well known artists like Rosemary Clooney, Artie Shaw, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and so many others. While this music was amazing in the 1940 s, a young man named Elvis Presley thought that the world should be showed a new type of music to adore and love. Presley s career actually started when he became a local star around Memphis, Tennessee. He recorded a couple of songs at a local recording studio and had a huge audience response, that got him ... I believe that Elvis created his music to try and help get rid of racial barriers by music, and the critics at the time hated the thought of a white man singing black music . By doing this it was shown that critics heavily disliked him and actually compared his concerts with screaming girls and adoring teens, to Hitler mass meetings which screams insanity. There were even magazines that were not on team Elvis Presley and they strongly showed it. For example a magazine called Look stated in its 1956 issue, but Presley is mostly nightmare. He has also dragged big beat music to new lows in taste . . ., with this in mind people in the older crowd have completely dragged this rock n roll star through the mud because of the little things that he has ... • 10. Political Parties One way to measure the importance of political parties for our country is to consider the many things that they do, even though they don t do many of them very well. Political parties tend to help make the act of voting less irrational for voters because sometimes having a party identification greatly reduces the time and effort involved in voting for an individual. Large majorities (of voters) still admit to a party preference and use parties to guide their voting decisions. They do so because, despite the divisions within the party coalitions and regardless of how they feel about the parties, the party labels still carry valuable information about candidates, continuing to provide the cheap, shorthand cue so useful to rationally ignorant voters (Kernell et al., 563). For example, Republicans usually favor a smaller and cheaper form of federal government. They tend to advocate for lower spending on social welfare and lower taxes. While Democrats are more supportive of government programs designed to improve domestic welfare and would spend less on national defense when Republicans are very generous toward the Defense Department. Democrats are more concerned with fairness and equality, Republicans with letting free enterprise flourish (Kernell et al., 564). Republicans are anti abortion and gay marriage and would be supportive of allowing official prayer and religion in public schools while Democrats would not agree with any of the above. However, not all candidates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Scopes Monkey Trial Research Paper The aftermath of the Great war and the Great Depression brought on a dramatic social change in America in the 1920s. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally different beings; modernists and fundamentalists. While fundamentalists valued the bible, and lived by it in its entirety, modernists were more self conscious and favored creativity and common sense rather than the bible. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial began and new theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the way of thinking. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albert Einstein, famed psychist, offered scientific research that startled fundamentalists and excited modernists. The huge influence the reject God was largely responsible of famed psychist, Albert Einstein. His contributions in science left individuals unsure about the past and curious about the future. Einstein theorized that space, time, matter, and energy were not distinct (Shi and Tindall 799). His research left many to embrace the idea that there were no absolute standards or fixed points of reference in the world (Shi and Tindall 799) . What was once said that God created all was questioned with Einstein s research. Another man s research in psychoanalysis questioned the morals and the way that people carried out their lives in the 1920s. Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst from Europe, heavily influenced Americans because of his teachings about sex and behavior. Freud believed that the mind was essentially and mysteriously conflicted by often unconscious efforts to control or repress powerful irrational impulses or sexual desires (Shi and Tindall 799). His work gave life a deeper meaning and influenced sexual liberation. Writers expressed their art through dreams and imaginations. The new revelations bought on by Einstein and Freud changed the way of life for both modernists and fundamentalists. Why did this difference in development occur? Thesis Statement: When talking about New England and the Chesapeake region, you have to consider the differences in motives and geography. Consider economic situations (reasons for settling where they did, reasons why they came to New England in the first place). The Old Ruins Introduction The old ruins were enigmatic enough to catch and hold anyone s attention, those being from 2020, with the old metal/glass boxes with silver apples painted over them in white and old security systems that might randomly be tripped and start blaring, but nobody had been in them since the weaponry testing, it was said that there was still some decaying quantum particles that might sporadically release huge bursts of energy in many forms, generating plasma spurts and possibly chain reactions. At least, according to the stories. There were other dangers too, supposedly there were strange and twisted creatures there, and some that even used to be human, but I didn t believe those ones, I wasn t fit for this society, I hate the laziness here, all the indoors, I wasn t made for this place, this time, I always feel out of place, I had to escape, to be myself, what better place to do that other than at the old abandoned ruins? I could get caught, or blasted with a plasma geyser, or tons of other terrible things could happen, but nothing could be worse than the cooped up life I already was forced to live. That was also why I couldn t tell my friends, they d only hold me back, and keep me from going, that is also why I left at midnight, and without a ve hover(too loud, easy to track, and noticeable) so I could be unknown to the world, and use muscles rarely used by anyone anymore. • 17. Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and... Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130 In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor John Kerrigan concludes: Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with . This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither. The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge stereotype than an actual real life woman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is little to no research on problems associated with 12 step programs or problematic areas of 12 step programs. The little research that does exist argue that 12 step programs are not structured for comorbid individual, they may not be the best option for mild substance use disorder, and the central theme of powerlessness can conflict with a therapist s theoretical orientation and be harmful to the therapeutic alliance. (Kelly Myers, 2007, Laudet et al., 2004, L, Ingvarson, Richard, 1995). The National Institute of Mental Health (2013) has found that 43.6 million adults aged 18 and older have at least one mental illness and 45 percent of individuals with one mental disorder met criteria for two or more disorders. The presence of comorbid disorders can severely affect the treatment and outcome of individuals (Terra et al., 2006). Many studies have found that clients with a dual diagnosis experience increased rates of hospitalization and increased use of emergency services (Helzer Pryzbeck, 1998). It is easy to imagine how hospitalization can interrupt treatment by making it difficulty for individuals to attend. Despite the fact that mental disorders and substance use disorders often appear together, services are often separate. While one may contend that there were relatively few judicial power grabs during the lifetimes of these two presidents, there is a disturbing new legal model that extends the power of the Supreme Court far beyond its traditional authority of constitutional arbitration. In 1965, a landmark case known as Griswold v. Connecticut came before the Supreme Court. The ruling was, as usual, long and technical, but the legal precedent upon which the Court based its holding had many lawyers scratching their heads and reaching for their dictionaries. The Court confidently stated that their holding was based upon the right to privacy , which the justices had managed to locate in a penumbra, formed by emanations from [the Bill of Rights] (Griswold). The word penumbra, which is used four times in this particular ruling, is not often heard in the field of law, and for good reason. Of all things, it is a Latin astronomical term that roughly translates to secondary shadow . It is fair to say that the Civil rights movement was an influence for many of the mass social movement during this time in history. Betty Friedan wrote, There is no civil rights movement to speak for women, as there has been for Negroes and other victims of discrimination. The National Organization for Women must therefore begin to speak (Reader 177, p.298 299). She is essentially saying that women have to create their own civil rights movement because there is not one that involves discrimination of women. • 40. The New Problem of Internet Addiction With reference to relevant literature, identify and discuss a concern which has become a problem for users of the internet. Miniwatts Marketing Group (2009) stated that more than two billion people use the internet. The internet is a world wide web of computer networks, all linked to one another. The internet enables people to communicate almost instantly, research and access data or information, and is most commonly used for email. The popularity of email has almost seen the demise of postal services (Harris, 2007). This essay will argue that one concern for users of the internet is addiction, as millions of users become consumed in the habit, with severe cases of internet addiction resulting in death and violence. Internet addiction is a habit addiction, rather than a form of substance abuse. According to Kimberley Young it is the world s fastest growing addiction (2009, p 2). Perhaps the reason for this is due to the many ways in which the internet can be used and how commonly accessible it has become in the home or office. For example, the internet can be used for online shopping, virtual gaming, social networking and aspects of the internet that are addictive. The concern with this is how the use of the internet is impacting on a person s everyday living. Similarly to other forms of addiction, inappropriate use of the internet can result in lost employment, broken relationships, financial loss and even death. In an extreme case, a teenage addict killed his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Reflective Essay On Group Diversity Through my work in groups, I have had to adjust my feedback and leadership styles based on the different cultures of my group members. Every organization has its own unique spoken and unspoken rules that define the culture. Culture is often simply stated as, the way we work around here. Cultures are formed and change through a variety of environmental events, leadership, and experiences (Weiss, Tilin, Morgan, 2014, p. 153). I need more here maybe? When bringing students together from different backgrounds and cultures, it is anticipated to run into some cultural diversity. While these differences are expected to be met with professionalism in all settings, according to Weiss, Tilin, and Morgan (2014) we have a tendency to interpret the behavior of others through the lens of our own habits of thought or personal bias (pp. 191 192). Upon acceptance into the radiography program, I had a preformed stereotype or prejudice of my classmates. Because it is a prestigious and competitive program, I assumed each member would strive to go above and beyond to produce optimum results. My personal cultural bias was believing everyone would set those high goals and do whatever it takes to achieve them. I have found in my classroom groups that some members only do the bare minimum. They are sometimes unprepared and look toward others for results. This impacted group communications because someone had to lead the group and bring more insight when others were not contributing. It also made members do more than their fair share of work. Some members had to take on more to make up for the lack of effort shown by others. My group works together very well when providing feedback. We established that we all thrive from constructive criticism and even welcome it. Feedback is important for all groups because knowing what was good and bad about a performance or assignment is how you learn from your experiences. By institutionalizing feedback strategies, power sharing becomes the responsibility of leaders as well as members who provide each other with constructive opinions and supportive advice (Weiss, et al., 2014, p. 141). So far my experiences in providing and receiving feedback within my group have been mostly positive. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a lot of people who don t or can t go to college because it costs too much. Some students don t go because they see that their parents are successful without going to college. Having free tuition is a benefit for the whole world. Some adults that didn t finish college can go and finish college whenever they want to because they don t have to worry about tuition. A few reasons why students can t pay college tuition is because they have bad credit, a low paying job, or having trouble with living situations. I believe that the main reasons why students with low income should get free college tuition is because students choose work over school, some are single parents, and the students simply can t afford college. Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to solve problems. Children who play video games may think and learn differently than those who do not play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to solve problems. One of the main characters, Guy, is struggling to enjoy his life due to living as a low economy family in the post colonial Haitian era. Such a life can cause one to become crazy when seeing an opportunity to escape, but continuously being unable to reach it. Being out of reach of his escape plan and left with no other option, Guy, places little value in life and continuously thinks about hope for a better life. His aggressive characteristic traits are not an expression of a strange personality, but rather a reaction to feeling broken. Because of this, he learned to accept that being a permanent worker at the sugar mill would never happen. Growing older, he knows he wants better for his son s life, but must keep up with the normal life his family belongs to. Many years ago, it was determined that the men of a specific decent were the only ones allowed to work at the mill. The Haitians of Lebanese, the sugar mill owners, were the workers because they had been in the country for generations. As the narrator explains, The jobs at the sugar mill were few and far between. The people who had them never left, or when they did they would pass the job on to another family member who was already waiting on line (Danticat 97 99).
