Pennies And Dimes Lab Report
Discussion
As presented in Table 1, only pennies were used in this part of the experiment. 8 pennies were
added to the cup at each interval, and in response to the addition, the force consistently increased
by 0.20 N. This demonstrated an upward trending linear relationship, as can be seen in Figure 1.
The slope, or m, represents the weight of a penny, which, is shown in Figure 1 as 0.025 N. The x
values represent the independent variable, which is the # of pennies, while the y values
represent the dependent variable, force (N). Slope can be represented as the change in the force
(N) divided by the change in the # of coins. The value for slope in this data set represents the force
per coin. The y intercept value (b) is 0, which is the y value ... Show more content on

Initially, 1 dime was added to the cup, followed by the addition of 1 penny, then 1 nickel, and
finally 1 quarter. The idea was to add the coins in order from the lightest coin in weight (dime) to
the heaviest (quarter) in order to get an upward trend line. When 1 dime was added to the cup,
the force was 0.03 N, however, when a penny was added to the cup, the force was increased to a
total of 0.05 N. This represented only a 0.02 N change when the penny was added. This
information is inferring that a dime weighs more than a penny, however, this is not true. An
error that may have occurred could be that the penny was added before the dime was added.
Therefore, the penny would have weighed 0.3 N and the dime would have weighed 0.2 N.
However, the information in Table 3 does demonstrate that the nickel weighs less than the
quarter, but more than the penny and dime, giving an upward trend line. The slope of the line
passing through points (1,0.03) and (4,0.2) is 0.056 N. Therefore, 0.056 N is the average weight
of the coins. The x values represent the # of coins, the y values represent the force (N), and the y
intercept value is 0. Initially, a linear graph was generated for Figure 3, however, the trend line did
not pass through each point on the graph and the R2 value was .82. Therefore, a polynomial trend
line was incorporated into the graph, as seen in Figure 3. The

Privatization Space Travel
I.Having the Privatization of space travel is an ideal choice as it gives the motive and innovative
process in the minds that can make space travel less expensive and for it to be a business that can
grow, creating space tourism, and eventually going further, outside our home planet.
II.Privatization of the space industry has created innovation in rocket design in order to reduce the
cost to travel to low earth orbit (LEO) and to the International Space Station compared to NASA s
Space Shuttle and Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
A.Many private companies like SpaceX managed to reduce the cost of launch between $50 million
and $100 million compared to the $1.5 billion price tag for each space shuttle mission .
B.Since the space shuttle program ended in 2011, NASA has been buying seats on the Russian
Soyuz spacecraft for $62 million a seat, however SpaceX s Dragon capsule is design to carry seven

With the reduced cost of space launch, NASA is in the position to work with the private sector
to use their rockets to transport cargo and astronauts to space at a lower cost than what they
already pay for. The cost of space travel will make a push to further research in space and soon
make space ventures possible to regular people.
III.Space Tourism is a dream many space enthusiast and entrepreneurs dreamed of doing and that
dream is in the works by a few private companies whose purpose is to make space venturing
possible.
A.Richard Branson who runs Virgin Galactic built his company from a competition to win the
Ansari X Prize that awarded $10 million to the first non government organization that flew people
into space, using a reusable spacecraft, twice in a two week span ().

The Soviet Prison Labor Camp System
Solzhenitsyn envisioned and captured the persona of the Soviet prison labor camp system by
describing as a chain of hidden islands amongst the USSR landscape. Solzhenitsyn sees himself
lifting the shroud that the Soviet regime tried to hide the gulags behind by telling his story of his
time in the gulags. Reading his book gave the reader the sense of reading a forbidden text,
something surrounded in secrecy. Solzhenitsyn develops themes throughout the book. These fetid
and morbid islands would see millions of unfortunate visitors forced to slave away at one of the
world s largest and fastest infrastructure and industrialization builds in the history of mankind
perpetuated by the will of Stalin and his secret police the NKVD. In this beautifully and
treacherously written story, Alexander Solzhenitsyn goes from his glory filled days as a
distinguished officer to just an exhausted instrument of the Soviet state. Solzhenitsyn describes
early on in the book about the cryptic nature of the gulag. No one knows and no one asks about the
gulags. The only way to get to the fabled islands is to be a member within the Ministry of
Internal Affairs, a conscripted guard, or one of the millions sent to their doom. This same
mysticism is projected well into his work, as the Gulag Archipelago was a banned piece of work
by the communist party. The reader can feel a risky nature to reading the novel.
Solzhenitsyn was a very decorated and successful Red Army officer. No prestige can protect a

Board Game Balance Essay
Year published was 2003 and designed by Nicole Johnschwager, Dale Pillars and Nathan Ruff.
There s not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it s fairly new
when it comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known.
Balance
This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen
by the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each
other. For example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who ve known
each other for years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team
would do. I find this quite abstract and out of the box in terms of balancing but it can also make the

I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the
intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing
about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the
teams slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned
something new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and
that is that after a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with
them again you know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the
players themselves could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this
would mean there a more question in the game that haven t been answered before and therefore
not make the game less fun for people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to
introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step
in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the
same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it
wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of
spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players more incentive to try

A Brave New World Conflict Essay
In the novel Brave New World by Aldus Huxley, the use of technology to control the growth and
development of society creates conflicts within individuals, conflicts between individuals, and
conflicts between technology and mankind.
One of the major conflicts shown in Brave New World is man vs. technology. This is obvious to
the reader but the people in this society are unaware of this being any sort of problem because
they are brainwashed as young children through the process of technology. Actually, these people
are all about the use of technology; technology is everything. The conflict itself would be the use
of technology to create mankind and force the people in the society to do certain things and act
certain ways. This is what causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, there is a third conflict involving Bernard; a man vs. self conflict. He has become
somewhat shy; he hates his self image, gets jealous of others and becomes unsociable with
personality changes.
Another major conflict existing in Brave New World is John vs. both the Savages and the World
State. This would be a dual man vs. society conflict. John has heard stories about the world state
and this made him eager and interested to go and explore this new world. But when he ends up
going, he is extremely disappointed and is not accepted at all into that society. He will always
remain a savage to the people in the world state. However, his curious nature towards the World
State made it impossible for John to truly be accepted into the world of the Savages; he was always
an outsider to them.
These conflicts connect to the theme, the use of technology to control the growth and development
of society. Technology plays a major part in this book because its what controls all of society;
making people act a certain way and reducing the amount of conflicts. In this matter, although they
have reduced the number of conflicts, they have subsequently created other conflicts. The focus
around technology creates so much anger, jealousy, sadness, and tension but this is extinguished by
the use of a chemical, soma and the act of brainwashing at a young age. Everything in this society
is about control

Essay On Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation
Signs Your Home Is Infested With Mice And How An Inspection Helps Get Rid Of Them You
can have an infestation of mice in your home and never see one of the creatures darting around,
but they will leave clues. If you do see the mice, especially during the daytime, that could
indicate you have a particularly bad infestation. Whether you ve seen mice or not, you should
take steps to eliminate them since they are unsanitary pests. Start with an inspection by a rodent
professional. Here s when to suspect you have a mouse problem and why having a professional
inspection is important. Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation Mice are usually most active at night
when activity in your home has settled down. When your home is otherwise quiet, you may hear
their claws scraping inside the walls as they scurry around. They might make chirping or
squeaking noises. You can even hear them gnawing on wood or other objects. Noises may come
from the attic, behind walls, inside the cupboards, or behind the refrigerator. If the mice are
particularly active, you may hear them knock things off shelves and tables as they hunt for food.
Besides unusual sounds, bad odors are another indicator of a mice infestation. You... Show more

This is vital because their entry points must be sealed or the mice will keep coming back.
Another part of the inspection is to look for mice droppings and signs of damage. This helps the
inspector determine if the rodent is a mouse or rat and how many animals could be present. The
inspection will include walking around the perimeter of your home looking for signs of activity
where the mice enter as well as inspecting the inside of your home in secluded areas such as inside
cabinets and in the attic. With all the information gained during an inspection, the pest control
company can devise an effective means of eliminating the mice from your

Gillette Case
On October 1, 2005, P G acquisition of The Gillette Company. Under the purchase agreement, the
total purchase was approximately $53.4 billion including common stock, the fair value of
vested stock options and acquisition costs. The Gillette oral care, batteries and personal care
businesses were subsumed within the Health Care, Fabric Care and Home Care, and Beauty
reportable segments, respectively. The deal is a bold move by P G Chief Executive A.G.
Lafley, who has led the company out of dark times in the past. Moving too fast on a restructuring
plan implemented by former CEO Jager, the company posted several disappointing quarters and
its stock lost more than half its value in 2000. The merger, would create a larger company with
revenues of more than $60 billion that would have even greater clout against mass market
retailers like Wal Mart, which have been pressuring consumer product suppliers to keep costs
low. Lafley was optimistic that the company would not be forced to divest many properties as
part of an antitrust review. Strengths Lafley, and later Taylor, began recalibrating the company s
strategy in China. P G had entered early, in 1988. But it underestimated the growth of Chinas
upper class, focusing instead on the lower to middle class market. Its diapers, for example,
proved vulnerable to higher end offerings from Japanese competitors; P Gs market share has
fallen nearly five percentage points since 2010, to 37%, according to Euromonitor Citi
Research. Explained Taylor at a recent conference: we looked at it too much like a developing
market as opposed to the most discerning customers in the world is now trying to move
upmarket in China. P G has also shifted more resources back to North America, where it has a
more dominant share. And it has become leaner and less bureaucratic, in part through huge job
cuts 35,000 by the end of 2016. P G has slashed product categories from 15 to 10 to improve
focus. Says Jon Moeller, its longtime CFO: the businesses we are keeping are those where we
have a product technology that makes a consumer difference and, almost to a one, daily use items.

1. About Pizza Hut
On June 15th, 1958, two brothers opened the first Pizza Hut restaurant in Wichita, Kansas (U.S.)
by purchasing second hand equipment and renting a small building on a busy cross road. The
concept was relatively new at the time and the brothers quickly saw the potential of this new
enterprise. A short time later, they begun to open new restaurants and developed schedules for
franchised outlets. Their chain started growing up very fast, ten years later Pizza Hut Inc. counted
almost 300 restaurants. In 1986, it had 5,025 domestic units and annual sales of almost $2 billion.
Half of the outlets were franchised. A Pizza Hut restaurant is characterized by a particular
freestanding design with a prominent red roof. The restaurants are full service, eat in/carryout with
about 60 to 90 seatings, open from 11 a.m. to midnight. Pizza HutВґs franchisees have special rights

Setting Boundaries And Ethical Considerations With Clients...
Setting Boundaries and Ethical Considerations with Clients in Treatment Groups
As a social worker and facilitator of a treatment group, you off handedly remarked that you were
going to give away a bunch of clothes that you have had stored and haven t worn. A treatment
group member hears this and asks that you give the clothes to him or her. Do you give them to her
or him? Why or why not? Which NASW Code of Ethics does this situation relate to? If the client is
in need of the clothes then I do not think it would be violating any codes because they need them
because they do not have clothes or need something to wear to say a job interview, however,
because this could be taken out of context such as having a dual relationship with a client. I
would ask the agency that I work for if it is alright to give the clothes to a client that needs them
and if not then I would donate them. Giving a client clothes may be seen as having both a
professional relationship and social relationship with the client, however, it is not because the
clothes were offered because the client had an immediate need. Boundary issues need to be looked
at closely because all of them are not always unethical such as running into clients at the grocery
store or sporting events as one example.

Why I Chose Law School

I majored on Criminal Justice thinking that that was what I needed to study to prepare for law
school, but after many conversations with professors, advisors, including attorneys, I decided to
change my major to Liberal Arts instead. As a Spanish speaking individual, I realized that in
order to reach my goal of preparing for law school, I needed to improve my English. Since then, I
have taken courses that I believe has helped me to improve my English. Since I started college, I
have been planning my pathway to law school. This is why, when I was the Student Trustee in
my second year of college, I contacted our First District Attorney Paul Caccaviello to see if I could

Taking place in 1956, the canal, built by Egyptian workers, was lawfully owned by a private
French and British association known as the Suez Canal Company. However, the current
president of Egypt at the time, Gamal Abdel Nasser, believed it to be within the national interest
of Egypt to reclaim the canal due to both the massive economic boon it would provide due to it

The Use Of Satire In Jon Stewart s The Daily Show
Satire is the use of humor and or sarcasm to expose bigger issues. Jon Stewart addresses topics
through his talk show on the Daily Show. He brings up important arguments that are going on in
our country and shows how ridiculous they are by his use of humor. Through his political
influence and controversial work, Jon Stewart renewed the success of The Daily Show with his
unusual use of satire that connected with the younger generation. Before Stewart made his big
break on the Daily Show, he was a stand up comedian doing all shows that he could. This led him
to the network, Comedy Central, with his own show called The Jon Stewart Show. After it
failing, Stewart had the opportunity to replace Craig Kilborn on the Daily Show, the proposal
was outstanding and could not be passed up. Stewart offered the show a faultless new outlook
on comedy that Kilborn could not bring, politics. The new content led to a spike in views from

wrote, The program... is becoming the coolest pit stop on television. And it does it the hard way.
Unlike late night talk shows that traffic in Hollywood interviews and stupid pet tricks, the Daily

mortality rate of children, the youth and the old due to diseases is among the main manifesto of the

As we just mentioned before, change is irresistible, however, there is still forces reject to change.
Thus, a theory called force field theory was developed by a researcher named Kurt Lewin. It
explained how do these to forces influence each other. In the form below, we can see that when
the two forces are all most balances, there s indeed little change for the organization. In some
degree, if there is a need to change, managers have to consider a way to push the employees to
adjust the new decision and new environment that the changes make bring(George Jones, 2008 ).
Exhibit 2 illustrated Lewin s theory [pic]
Performance level P1of an organization is shown to be balanced means force for change and
resistance to change are equal. If organization want to achieve performance leve P2, the managers
must increase the forces for change and reduce resistance to change,or both.
How to overcome
Communicate with the workforce
For most employees, the horror of change is that they don t know what is going to happen
next.(George Jones, 2008 ). Managers could communicate with employees, to insight their fright
about change and then check out what is the best solution for both.(Litch, Bonnie, 2005) . Or ,they
can have a good group communication in a weekly meeting (George Jones, 2008 ).

A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages
A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome.
Basically, an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding
area is known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is
cerebral, or brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal
vessels, putting them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to
be taken lightly, as they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers
accompanied with subarachnoid hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them,
and even with life after surviving the hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage
occurs, there are many dangers to consider. While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms,
an SAH does and they are unfortunately very sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries,
the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett
describes that the immediate danger caused by subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She
states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by restricted or blocked bloodflow. The areas of the
brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen can suffer irreparable injury, leading to
permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is present from the very start with
subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). The rapid bleeding outside of the brain

UHG Performance Management
Mission, Goals, and Performance Management Today, organizations need to have a clear
understanding of where their organization is and where it needs to be in the future to secure
longevity and financial success (Moore, Ellsworth, Kaufman, 2011). Organizations need to have a
performance management system in place to stay competitive. Therefore, having a well developed
performance managementprocess in place allows the employer and employee to communicate goals,
share information, and establish career growth. Performance managementneeds to contribute to the
success of the organization while providing a positive impact on the employees. Therefore, the
mission, goals and performance management should coincide with one another. UnitedHealth
Group (UHG) was founded in 1977, and based their organization on health maintenance
organizations(HMOs). UHG is considered the most diversified health care organization in the
United States. They have the largest network s of physicians, and health facilities and caregivers
in the United States. They operate in all 50 states and more than 125 other countries around the
world (UHG, 2015a). Their operating revenue is over $130 billion in 2014 and Fortune magazine
ranked them No. 14 of the 500 largest U.S. corporations (UHG, 2015a). UnitedHealth Group s

How A Single Physician Medical Practice Can Start A Card...
Introduction
There are advantages and ways that a single physician medical practice can start a card payment
system. According to the research firm Javelin Strategy and Research. By the year 2017, twenty
three percent of all point of sale or counter sales will be made in cash ( Brooks, 2014). What this
means is that over seventy percent of counter sales or point of sale transactions will be made
electronically. It is, for this reason, prudent for all forms of business to ensure that they can evolve
with the market. If the business is unable to do so, it is likely to lose its edge over its competitors.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, are the rules that regulate the way businesses
or organisations handle credit card information or data.
Creating a Secure Card Payment System
Reasons for setting up a card payment system
There are various advantages to a business setting up a secure payment system. The first advantage
is that the business is likely to have an increase in profitability. Research has shown that the card
payment systems whether by credit or debit cards increases the chances of a customer making
multiple purchases. This can be advantageous to the physician as the patient can make multiple
payments for future or past appointments at an instance. The other advantage of having a card
payment system is that when one uses a card to make payment the payment is guaranteed unlike
when you receive a personal check. When a patient uses a debit card the

Shawn Fanning, Creator of Napster, Changed the Music Industry
Shawn Fanning, an 18 year old Northwestern University dropout, never thought he would be the
one to change the music industry forever. What started out as hours of code to figure out a way
to share music with his roomate, soon turned into the program that the world was buzzing about.
His idea was simple, to create a program where users were able to share filers over a central
server, specifically music files. This became known as Napster. Napster, which was created in
1999, became an internet sensation in the blink of an eye. It was a free file sharing community
that involved millions of users. Napster linked numbers computers to a centralized server, which
was accessible to almost anyone that had access to the internet. When logged onto the server,
users could see music files along with their location, and begin to download them to their
computer library. Users had the ability to search for music on peoples computers around the world.
However, Napster faced a long road ahead of them dealing with copyrightviolation accusations.
Yes, these allegations from recording companies, in this case A M Records, would soon be the
ones responsible for the termination of this short lived, but powerful corporation. As a marketing
major and entrepreneurship minor, or even as a student taking this Business Law class, I can learn
a lot from this case. In August 1999, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) was
one of the firsts to warn Napster of all that lay ahead. They

Instructional Setting And Content Area Essay
Instructional Setting and Content Area The instructional setting for this unit is an elementary
school. All lessons will be taught to a fourth grade glass, consisting of 24 students. The lessons will
take place during the assigned math block (an 80 minute portion of the day). These lessons will be
a scaffolded focus on problem solving, specifically multiplication and division word problems.
Instructional Problem The vast majority of incoming and current 4th grade students in this school
haven t yet mastered the state standard for problem solving (Standard 4.OA.A.3). Specific
standards are set by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and adopted by Washington State
(Common Core State Standards Initiative, (n.d.)), and require students to be able to solve multi
step word problems in all four operations. Incoming fourth grade students struggle with solving
these word problems accurately. These students need to pass the state mandated Smarter Balanced
Assessment (SBA) which requires completion of a problem solving performance task. Their score
on this assessment will determine their placement in grade 5 at the district s middle school.
Students have difficulty with word problems mostly based on lack of strategies and poor language
interpretation. While fact fluency may be present, the ability to interpret vocabulary to guide
computation leaves many students unable to construct mathematical models to interpret or solve
problems. Students have difficulty in analyzing

Juz Kitson
Juz Kitson is an Australian installation and sculpture ceramicist who primarily works with
porcelain. Kitson, however, also employs many other types of clay and materials which she
individually forms into larger installation pieces. With the uses of both traditional and contemporary
modes of moulding, glazing and coating, Kitson conveys the complexity of notions of being such
as life and death, beauty and the grotesque, the permanent and impermanent.
Kitson was born in Sydney in 1987 and attended the National Art School, Sydney. From there she
was offered a artist residency in China which further developed her curiosity in the art of ceramic
making and is now where she practices her art making; half her time is spent in Jingdezhen learning

Kitson usually begins by creating slip cast moulds to create multiples of shapes, using various
porcelains and clays. However Kitson favours Southern Ice porcelain due to its aesthetic
properties such as its white colour and translucency which often she leaves in its natural raw
state. Kitson then proceeds to paint, glaze and fire her ceramic pieces in communal kilns in
Jingdezhen, China. This is important for her creative process as it helps to connect her pieces to
their historical origin and also allows her to fire as much as possible due to the enormity of the
kilns. Kitson then uses the coating method of physical vapour disposition. This method was
created by NASA in 2010. Kitson prefers this new and highly technologically advanced practice
because it prevents the erosion of the clays and porcelain, and can use both organic and inorganic
coatings and is more environmentally friendly than most coating techniques. Once this is
complete, the ceramic pieces are brought back to Australia to be assembled into her installations.
She also attaches material like horse hair and silk at this stage. Kitson also hunts around the Hill
End and Broken Hill areas collecting animal remains including skulls and bones. Once collected
she then dips them in porcelain and allows for the porcelain to dry. These are then also added to

A Short Story About Thomas
One autumn morning, Thomas jumped out of bed, pulled open the curtains, and then gazed down
at the quiet cobblestone streets below. Leaves the colors of a brilliant sunset, playfully glided and
danced along the street s edge. He smiled. Soon the vending trucks would be pulling up outside,
and the town folks hurrying about as they prepared the streets for the Festival of Ghouls.
A grin formed across Thomas s face, as he glanced over at the grim reaper costume that was lying
on top of his dresser. Snatching it up, he pulled the black robe over his head, and then placed the
skull mask over his face. Covering his head with the hood, he grabbed the plastic scythe that was
leaning against the wall.
Standing in front of the mirror, he gazed at the dark, voiceless creature with the two empty eye

Oompa Mount Adequate Movement Analysis
For our movement analysis project, we evaluated the oompa mount escape. In order to fully
understand this move, it is first necessary to evaluate what the mount position is. By doing this, the
method of escape will be better understood.
The mount is a fighting position where an individual straddles their adversary and puts their
weight on his or her chest. By doing this, it allows the fighter to control the movement of their
opponent. This enables them to easily strike the enemy combatant due to his limited mobility.
Moreover, this move can serve as a transition to other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves such as armlocks or
chokeholds. Due to these facts, being held in this position is one of the worst scenarios that a
fighter can find themselves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, the motions involved are: flexion of the thigh, abduction of the thigh, extension of the
thigh, and adduction of the thigh. By looking at these motions individually, it will be clear what
muscles are involved in the motion.
The first motion is flexion of the thigh. This is important in order to throw the opponent forward.
This brings their arm closer to your body for the later part of the move, as well as, distributing their
weight in order to make the movement phase easier. The agonists of this motion are the iliacus,
psoas major, psoas minor, rectus femoris, sartoris, pectineus, gluteus minimum, and the tensor
fascia latae. Opposing this are the antagonist muscles, which extend the thigh. These are the biceps
femoris, semitendinosis, semimembranosis, and the gluteus maximus.
The next progression of the preparatory phase is abduction of the hip. When performing this motion,
the goal is to abduct the thigh to a point that is past the lower leg of the opponent. For this, the
agonist muscles are the sartorius, gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, and the tensor fascia latae.
Opposing this are the antagonists, which consist of the pectineus, adductor brevis, adductor longus,
adductor magnus, and the

Should Gun Control Be Banned
Gun Control Essay
Gun control is a very hot and controversial topic in the U.S that has been around for years. Some of
the population thinks that it shouldn t be a thing, while the other half strongly disagrees. However,
gun control is essential to a progressive and peaceful country. Adults and gunowners should take
stricter actions to ban high capacity and automatic rifles, support common sense gun control
(such as background checks and making sure the mentally ill don t obtain them), and make sure
civilians (including hunters) don t own military grade firearms. High capacity rifles should be

A background check is the process of looking up and compiling criminal, financial, and
commercial records of an individual or an organization; they are used to keep child predators

keep guns out of convicts hands? Senators Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz called this
sensible policy an invasion of privacy , infringement on the American people s constitutional
right to bear arms , and an easy way for bad people to steal these gun owners personal information
. Not only is this argument wrong, it s a loophole for many felons to get away with illegal
crimes. Without them, up to 40% of all gun sales are undocumented private party sales that do not
require a background check. Additionally, 90% of adults approve of laws to prevent the mentally
ill from purchasing a gun. Most of the time these people are in need of special care and have no
business owning a gun. They are a danger to themselves and lack the judgement to determine what
is right and wrong. Common sense gun control laws would protect us all from thoughtless and
harmful criminals from killing people and committing illegal crimes. They would also protect us
from meaningless and senseless people from injuring

definition, set the parameters within which the subordinates operate. The dominant group holds the
power and authority in society relative to the subordinates and determines how that power and

Biofuels as an Alternative Fuel Source
Some organisms produce energy by photosynthesis. These organisms convert sunlight to energy
that is chemical, and this energy is in the form of sugar (Freedman 2013). The sugars from these
organisms can be used as biofuels by fermenting the sugars (Bourne 2007). Some photosynthetic
organisms are more efficient than others. Based on our reading, I found out that algae plants are
the most efficient organism for biofuel because they do not have cellulose and lignin that sugarcane
and corn both possess (Bourne 2007). Biofuels could eventually replace diesel fuels that we
continuously use, and will soon run out of. Diesel fuels have been proven to damage the
environment, and biofuels would help this issue.
Biofuels would not be bad for the environment because they come straight from the environment,
and with biofuels there would be no dangerous or bad chemicals released into the atmosphere. Each
photosynthetic organism collects the sunlight in different ways because of their pigments (lab
manual 2013). Different types of pigments in the organism absorb different wavelengths. The
wavelength that travels the deepest in water is blue, which is 450 500nm. Before starting the
experiment, my group was curious to what color of light would produce the biggest biomass, and
what kind of pigment would be in our organism. We were given the algae chlorella, and based our
hypothesis on that. For our hypothesis, we thought there would be a difference in biomass between
red and blue light, and

Teen Pregnancy Causes
Some causes of Teen pregnancy are absent parenting, lack of knowledge, substance abuse, living in
poverty and peer pressure. The number of teens within the ages of 14 19 has substantially
decreased over the last several years. While examining the causes of teen pregnancy, new methods
of prevention can be defined. If there are different methods identified for preventing teen pregnancy
than the number of teens can go down more.
Absent parenting is one of the leading causes of teen pregnancy. Women who do not have both
parents in the picture are eight times more likely to become pregnant at a young age than
someone who has both parents. On account of absentee parents the time the parent leaves affect
the risk that the child has on becoming a teen parent. When a parent leaves or is present but
does not engage with the child, there is no one to lead by example. If there is no one for a teen
to look up to they look for an alternative that may not make the best choices. As a result of not

Decisions that are not in the best interest of the teenager are likely to increase if they know there

Shakespeare’s Presentation of Rome and Egypt in Antony and...
Shakespeare s Presentation of Rome and Egypt in Antony and Cleopatra As the title clearly
suggests, Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is based around the extraordinary relationship
among two distinctive individuals, one a Roman general and the other an Egyptian queen. Along
with Caesar who is also a Roman general, these entities dominate the play s tragic storyline
progression. However whilst Antony and Cleopatra centres around a provocative love affair,
Shakespeare makes it evident that there is a good deal larger tensions involved, a collision course
between two worlds. Antony and Cleopatra details the conflict between Rome and Egypt, it
demonstrates the differences between Eastern and Western... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Antony and Cleopatra, West and East collide, but it does not in spite of Caesar s conquest
over the land of Egypt, defeat it. Cleopatra s suicide implies that a touch of the East s character,
the freedoms and fervour that are not signified in the play s notion of the West, cannot be listed
by Caesar s victory. The play proposes that the East will survive on as a perceptible and invincible
counterpart to the West, bound as inseparably and everlastingly as Antony and Cleopatra are in
their mausoleum. As the play develops, Antony continues to occupy contradictory characteristics
that play out the struggle between motive and feeling. In one instance, he is the rancorous war
hero whom Caesar eulogizes and fears. Almost immediately after that, he surrenders his military
designation by foolishly allowing Cleopatra to establish his course of action. As his Roman
friends, even the faithful Enobarbus desert him, Antony feels that he has, without a doubt, lost
himself in old age, and he resolves to salvage his dignified individuality by killing his self.
Originally, this act may emerge to be a victory of motive over fervour, of Western consciousness
over Eastern ones, but the play is not as straightforward as that. Even though Antony departs this
life deeming himself a man of reverence,

The Lady With The Dog Chekhov
Moreover, in The Lady with the Dog by Chekhov, the story begins in Yalta, the seaside town on
the Black Sea in Russia. The main characters are guests at a resort and it is most likely summer
since the people eat outside in the gardens. The garden where they first meet and Anna
Sergeyevna s hotel room. Moreover, the setting shifts to Oreanda where Gurov and Anna go after
their first night together. As they watch the morning mist in Oreanda, there is a slight sense of
foreboding. They have done something they should not have done. The third setting of the story is
Moscow, where Dmitri lives with his wife and children. It is cold, busy and gray, as the author says
in the story In the morning it was still dark when the children were having breakfast

Contracts And Contracts Of Contracts
Introduction We enter into contracts every day. Taking a seat in the taxi amounts to entering into
a contract. You go to a bar to drink some beers, you have entered a contract though we might not
realise that we have entered into a contract. In the commercial world services and goods are
normally purchased for resale or consumption. Usually the buyer and the seller will negotiate the
terms of the purchase before they enter a transaction which will result in the sale. Trading involves
financial risk therefore it is in the interest of all to have recognizable set of rules by which each
party agrees and abides to. All business naturally deal with contracts, these contracts can either be
unwritten or written. A contract is a legally binding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To create a contractual relationship both parties must intend their agreement to have legal
consequences. Cases where parties of the agreement have not clearly expressed their intentions it
will be left to the courts to judge whether they intended to get into a contract. An agreement of a
purely social or domestic nature is not a contract. A good example is the Balfour v. Balfour (1919)
case whereby the husband agreed to pay ВЈ30 to his wife every month while he was abroad. As he
failed to pay the promised amount, his wife sued him for the recovery of the amount. The court
held that she could not recover it because it was social agreement and the parties did not intend to
create any legal relations. Nonetheless, even in the case of agreements of purely social or domestic
nature, there may be intention of the parties to create legal obligations. In such cases the social
agreement is intended to have legal consequences which results in a contract. In commercial and
business agreements the law will presume that the parties entering into agreement intend those
agreements to have legal consequences. A contract may be oral or in writing. If a certain type of
contract is required by law to be in writing, it must comply with the necessary formalities as to
writing, registration and attestation. If these legal formalities are not

Constructionism And Intersectionality
From a social constructionism perspective, the meanings and definitions of race are created through
categorizing groups of people from a cultural context.
As stated by Bowleg (2012), the term women and minorities are ubiquitously wedded in public
health discourse, policy and research which fails to consider the intersection of these two
categories whereas a woman can be both a minority as well as a female. By combining two aspects
that each experience discrimination and oppression in their own rights individuals which share 1 or
more are often marginalized further. The term intersectionality refers to the concept of
acknowledging multiple aspects of individuals identities that may overlap or intersect. Gender, race,
sexuality and class are all mutually exclusive aspects of humanity which can be categorized into
groups; membership to one or more of these groups can intersect within the same individual. For
example, a high income, homosexual, Hispanic male describes his intersectionality.

According to Mattsson (2014), in social work s effort to challenge oppression and inequality,
intersectionality has been found to be a useful tool for critical reflection. Critical reflection focuses
on a specific event or situation analytically considering the feelings thoughts and actions involved
in a way that alternative ways of understanding social problems, the client, the social workers
positions and client interactions present themselves. Social workers using an intersectionality
approach combine a knowledge base of social structures affecting individuals psychosocial

Coyote Omnivore
The Coyote, part of the biological family of canidae, look appears in between a wolf and fox, and
is an opportunistic omnivore predator and scavenger that it s native in North America. Coyote are
highly adaptable species, even when it moves into human occupied territory. They adjust their
hunting techniques to whatever prey they laid its eye onto. For huntingsmaller prey alone, they
usually stalk behind the prey and pounce onto them; for bigger prey such as deer, they hunt in small
packs and take down the prey as one. Because of their ability of adapting most habitats, like
deserts, plains, and grasslands, they can spread their habitat range all across the continent, even in
large cities in urban area (Baker Bonine 2015). Originating in the west of North America, the coyote
spread eastward into Ontario, and continue move forwards to Quebec and other eastern provinces

The Importance Of Literacy
Literacy or the ability to read and write is not only very important but it is a necessity in dealing
the everyday life. It is like breathing, you need it so you don t even think about what it s like not
being able to read or write. Everything we do in based on reading in this world, yet there are 32
million adults in the U.S. that can t read. The power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read
and write, but rather in a person s capacity to apply these skills to effectively connect, interpret and
discern the complexities of the world in which they live.
Literacy is about more than just words and meaning, it affects peoples lives directly, impacting their
chances of employment and a descent level of income. The effects of globalization and free trade,
better communication and information technologies, and the rise of societies that use knowledge
and information have resulted in a growing demand for highly skilled workers. Not only has
literacy become very important in the U.S some have started programs to get kids more involved
in reading. Michelle Obama has been very involved in helping get the message out about how
important reading and education in general is for future generations.
However, one career that is very dependent on the ability to read and write is the acting
profession. An actor and actress are very dependent on knowing how to read so they can learn

Journal Submission Analysis
Journal Submission 1 A very painful and enduring time in my life was when I was fifteen years
old and my father told me that I would never succeed in school or college. Ever since then, I have
always felt that I could never be smart enough for college and that I would probably just fail all of
my courses that I had planned to study. If it was not for my mom, who highly supports me with
going to college, I probably would not be attending college this year. I think having other positive
familymembers has really helped me to overcome my fears of failing my classes in college and that
I am smart enough to succeed in college and my life.
Before we did the guided essay in class, I would often forget to gather ideas and develop my
topic for my written assignment and so my paper would often look unfinished because it did not
have a supporting topic. I also would not draft my papers because I thought drafting was a waste
of time. Most of the papers that I have written did not get a good grade because I didn t know
how important it was to know all of the rules of writing an assignment. But after doing the guided
essay in class, I realized that drafting and gathering ideas for a topic sentence can help you when
doing a written assignment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

me to attend class so that I can learn new writing skills in class so that I can hopefully, pass this
class with a good grade. Participating with the teacher, I believe is also important because the

between the birds, a threat that many of them face. Many of these renewable energy sources
people are able to see heading down to Palm Springs or getting on the freeway to LA. A large area
of the desert was plowed and flattened out for solar panels destroying many homes for animals.

  • 2. Pennies And Dimes Lab Report Discussion As presented in Table 1, only pennies were used in this part of the experiment. 8 pennies were added to the cup at each interval, and in response to the addition, the force consistently increased by 0.20 N. This demonstrated an upward trending linear relationship, as can be seen in Figure 1. The slope, or m, represents the weight of a penny, which, is shown in Figure 1 as 0.025 N. The x values represent the independent variable, which is the # of pennies, while the y values represent the dependent variable, force (N). Slope can be represented as the change in the force (N) divided by the change in the # of coins. The value for slope in this data set represents the force per coin. The y intercept value (b) is 0, which is the y value ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, 1 dime was added to the cup, followed by the addition of 1 penny, then 1 nickel, and finally 1 quarter. The idea was to add the coins in order from the lightest coin in weight (dime) to the heaviest (quarter) in order to get an upward trend line. When 1 dime was added to the cup, the force was 0.03 N, however, when a penny was added to the cup, the force was increased to a total of 0.05 N. This represented only a 0.02 N change when the penny was added. This information is inferring that a dime weighs more than a penny, however, this is not true. An error that may have occurred could be that the penny was added before the dime was added. Therefore, the penny would have weighed 0.3 N and the dime would have weighed 0.2 N. However, the information in Table 3 does demonstrate that the nickel weighs less than the quarter, but more than the penny and dime, giving an upward trend line. The slope of the line passing through points (1,0.03) and (4,0.2) is 0.056 N. Therefore, 0.056 N is the average weight of the coins. The x values represent the # of coins, the y values represent the force (N), and the y intercept value is 0. Initially, a linear graph was generated for Figure 3, however, the trend line did not pass through each point on the graph and the R2 value was .82. Therefore, a polynomial trend line was incorporated into the graph, as seen in Figure 3. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Privatization Space Travel I.Having the Privatization of space travel is an ideal choice as it gives the motive and innovative process in the minds that can make space travel less expensive and for it to be a business that can grow, creating space tourism, and eventually going further, outside our home planet. II.Privatization of the space industry has created innovation in rocket design in order to reduce the cost to travel to low earth orbit (LEO) and to the International Space Station compared to NASA s Space Shuttle and Russian Soyuz spacecraft. A.Many private companies like SpaceX managed to reduce the cost of launch between $50 million and $100 million compared to the $1.5 billion price tag for each space shuttle mission . III.Space Tourism is a dream many space enthusiast and entrepreneurs dreamed of doing and that dream is in the works by a few private companies whose purpose is to make space venturing possible. • 4. The Soviet Prison Labor Camp System Solzhenitsyn envisioned and captured the persona of the Soviet prison labor camp system by describing as a chain of hidden islands amongst the USSR landscape. Solzhenitsyn sees himself lifting the shroud that the Soviet regime tried to hide the gulags behind by telling his story of his time in the gulags. Reading his book gave the reader the sense of reading a forbidden text, something surrounded in secrecy. Solzhenitsyn develops themes throughout the book. These fetid and morbid islands would see millions of unfortunate visitors forced to slave away at one of the world s largest and fastest infrastructure and industrialization builds in the history of mankind perpetuated by the will of Stalin and his secret police the NKVD. In this beautifully and treacherously written story, Alexander Solzhenitsyn goes from his glory filled days as a distinguished officer to just an exhausted instrument of the Soviet state. Solzhenitsyn describes early on in the book about the cryptic nature of the gulag. No one knows and no one asks about the gulags. The only way to get to the fabled islands is to be a member within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a conscripted guard, or one of the millions sent to their doom. This same mysticism is projected well into his work, as the Gulag Archipelago was a banned piece of work by the communist party. The reader can feel a risky nature to reading the novel. • 5. Board Game Balance Essay Year published was 2003 and designed by Nicole Johnschwager, Dale Pillars and Nathan Ruff. There s not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it s fairly new when it comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known. Balance This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen by the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each other. For example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who ve known each other for years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team would do. I find this quite abstract and out of the box in terms of balancing but it can also make the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in the game that haven t been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players more incentive to try guess rather ... • 6. A Brave New World Conflict Essay In the novel Brave New World by Aldus Huxley, the use of technology to control the growth and development of society creates conflicts within individuals, conflicts between individuals, and conflicts between technology and mankind. One of the major conflicts shown in Brave New World is man vs. technology. This is obvious to the reader but the people in this society are unaware of this being any sort of problem because they are brainwashed as young children through the process of technology. Actually, these people are all about the use of technology; technology is everything. The conflict itself would be the use of technology to create mankind and force the people in the society to do certain things and act certain ways. This is what causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, there is a third conflict involving Bernard; a man vs. self conflict. He has become somewhat shy; he hates his self image, gets jealous of others and becomes unsociable with personality changes. Another major conflict existing in Brave New World is John vs. both the Savages and the World State. This would be a dual man vs. society conflict. John has heard stories about the world state and this made him eager and interested to go and explore this new world. But when he ends up going, he is extremely disappointed and is not accepted at all into that society. He will always remain a savage to the people in the world state. However, his curious nature towards the World State made it impossible for John to truly be accepted into the world of the Savages; he was always an outsider to them. These conflicts connect to the theme, the use of technology to control the growth and development of society. Technology plays a major part in this book because its what controls all of society; making people act a certain way and reducing the amount of conflicts. In this matter, although they have reduced the number of conflicts, they have subsequently created other conflicts. The focus around technology creates so much anger, jealousy, sadness, and tension but this is extinguished by the use of a chemical, soma and the act of brainwashing at a young age. Everything in this society is about control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay On Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation Signs Your Home Is Infested With Mice And How An Inspection Helps Get Rid Of Them You can have an infestation of mice in your home and never see one of the creatures darting around, but they will leave clues. If you do see the mice, especially during the daytime, that could indicate you have a particularly bad infestation. Whether you ve seen mice or not, you should take steps to eliminate them since they are unsanitary pests. Start with an inspection by a rodent professional. Here s when to suspect you have a mouse problem and why having a professional inspection is important. Signs Of A Hidden Mice Infestation Mice are usually most active at night when activity in your home has settled down. When your home is otherwise quiet, you may hear their claws scraping inside the walls as they scurry around. They might make chirping or squeaking noises. You can even hear them gnawing on wood or other objects. Noises may come from the attic, behind walls, inside the cupboards, or behind the refrigerator. If the mice are particularly active, you may hear them knock things off shelves and tables as they hunt for food. Besides unusual sounds, bad odors are another indicator of a mice infestation. You... The inspection will include walking around the perimeter of your home looking for signs of activity where the mice enter as well as inspecting the inside of your home in secluded areas such as inside cabinets and in the attic. • 9. Gillette Case On October 1, 2005, P G acquisition of The Gillette Company. Under the purchase agreement, the total purchase was approximately $53.4 billion including common stock, the fair value of vested stock options and acquisition costs. The Gillette oral care, batteries and personal care businesses were subsumed within the Health Care, Fabric Care and Home Care, and Beauty reportable segments, respectively. The deal is a bold move by P G Chief Executive A.G. Lafley, who has led the company out of dark times in the past. Moving too fast on a restructuring plan implemented by former CEO Jager, the company posted several disappointing quarters and its stock lost more than half its value in 2000. The merger, would create a larger company with revenues of more than $60 billion that would have even greater clout against mass market retailers like Wal Mart, which have been pressuring consumer product suppliers to keep costs low. Lafley was optimistic that the company would not be forced to divest many properties as part of an antitrust review. Strengths Lafley, and later Taylor, began recalibrating the company s strategy in China. P G had entered early, in 1988. But it underestimated the growth of Chinas upper class, focusing instead on the lower to middle class market. Its diapers, for example, proved vulnerable to higher end offerings from Japanese competitors; P Gs market share has fallen nearly five percentage points since 2010, to 37%, according to Euromonitor Citi Research. Explained Taylor at a recent conference: we looked at it too much like a developing market as opposed to the most discerning customers in the world is now trying to move upmarket in China. P G has also shifted more resources back to North America, where it has a more dominant share. And it has become leaner and less bureaucratic, in part through huge job cuts 35,000 by the end of 2016. P G has slashed product categories from 15 to 10 to improve focus. Says Jon Moeller, its longtime CFO: the businesses we are keeping are those where we have a product technology that makes a consumer difference and, almost to a one, daily use items. Setting Boundaries and Ethical Considerations with Clients in Treatment Groups As a social worker and facilitator of a treatment group, you off handedly remarked that you were going to give away a bunch of clothes that you have had stored and haven t worn. A treatment group member hears this and asks that you give the clothes to him or her. Do you give them to her or him? Why or why not? Which NASW Code of Ethics does this situation relate to? If the client is in need of the clothes then I do not think it would be violating any codes because they need them because they do not have clothes or need something to wear to say a job interview, however, because this could be taken out of context such as having a dual relationship with a client. I would ask the agency that I work for if it is alright to give the clothes to a client that needs them and if not then I would donate them. Giving a client clothes may be seen as having both a professional relationship and social relationship with the client, however, it is not because the clothes were offered because the client had an immediate need. Boundary issues need to be looked at closely because all of them are not always unethical such as running into clients at the grocery store or sporting events as one example. Code 1.06 Conflicts of Interest C. Social workers should not engage in dual or multiple relationships with clients or former clients in which there is a risk of exploitation or potential harm to ... When I finally started college, I majored on Criminal Justice thinking that that was what I needed to study to prepare for law school, but after many conversations with professors, advisors, including attorneys, I decided to change my major to Liberal Arts instead. As a Spanish speaking individual, I realized that in order to reach my goal of preparing for law school, I needed to improve my English. Since then, I have taken courses that I believe has helped me to improve my English. Since I started college, I have been planning my pathway to law school. • 21. A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome. Basically, an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding area is known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is cerebral, or brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal vessels, putting them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to be taken lightly, as they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers accompanied with subarachnoid hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them, and even with life after surviving the hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs, there are many dangers to consider. While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms, an SAH does and they are unfortunately very sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries, the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett describes that the immediate danger caused by subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by restricted or blocked bloodflow. The areas of the brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen can suffer irreparable injury, leading to permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is present from the very start with subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). However Kitson favours Southern Ice porcelain due to its aesthetic properties such as its white colour and translucency which often she leaves in its natural raw state. This is important for her creative process as it helps to connect her pieces to their historical origin and also allows her to fire as much as possible due to the enormity of the kilns. Kitson then uses the coating method of physical vapour disposition. This method was created by NASA in 2010. Kitson prefers this new and highly technologically advanced practice because it prevents the erosion of the clays and porcelain, and can use both organic and inorganic coatings and is more environmentally friendly than most coating techniques. Once this is complete, the ceramic pieces are brought back to Australia to be assembled into her installations. She also attaches material like horse hair and silk at this stage. Summary Of Beverly Tatum s Argument Beverly Tatum s Argument Beverly Tatum s argument about the multiple identities and how many people define their self is one of the most notorious articles I ve ever read. She s arguing how the areas where a person is a member of the dominant or advantaged social group, the category is usually not mentioned. That element of their identityis so taken for granted by them that it goes without comment. For example she talks about when she asked her students of color to complete the sentence I am .... how many of them mention their race, I am Black, Puerto Rican, and Korean American . But, when she asked white students to complete the sentence they rarely bring up their race. Some may ask why is it that the white students didn t bring up their race? She uses her examples perfectly, and backed it up very well, they fall right into what she s trying to inform us on. People often forget about and not talk about how we are dominant in some categories but always remember how we are subordinates as you can see. The Dominant groups, by definition, set the parameters within which the subordinates operate. The dominant group holds the power and authority in society relative to the subordinates and determines how that power and authority may be acceptably used. Miller points out that dominant groups generally do not like to be reminded of the existence of inequality. Because rationalizations have been created to justify the social arrangements, it is easy to believe everything is as it should be (Tatum 3). Subordinates groups often find their selves trying to live above and go beyond the bar that the dominant group has set for us, and break the stereotypical thoughts that they have of ... • 37. Biofuels as an Alternative Fuel Source Some organisms produce energy by photosynthesis. These organisms convert sunlight to energy that is chemical, and this energy is in the form of sugar (Freedman 2013). The sugars from these organisms can be used as biofuels by fermenting the sugars (Bourne 2007). Some photosynthetic organisms are more efficient than others. Based on our reading, I found out that algae plants are the most efficient organism for biofuel because they do not have cellulose and lignin that sugarcane and corn both possess (Bourne 2007). Biofuels could eventually replace diesel fuels that we continuously use, and will soon run out of. Diesel fuels have been proven to damage the environment, and biofuels would help this issue. Biofuels would not be bad for the environment because they come straight from the environment, and with biofuels there would be no dangerous or bad chemicals released into the atmosphere. Each photosynthetic organism collects the sunlight in different ways because of their pigments (lab manual 2013). Different types of pigments in the organism absorb different wavelengths. The wavelength that travels the deepest in water is blue, which is 450 500nm. Before starting the experiment, my group was curious to what color of light would produce the biggest biomass, and what kind of pigment would be in our organism. We were given the algae chlorella, and based our hypothesis on that. For our hypothesis, we thought there would be a difference in biomass between red and blue light, and ... The number of teens within the ages of 14 19 has substantially decreased over the last several years. While examining the causes of teen pregnancy, new methods of prevention can be defined. If there are different methods identified for preventing teen pregnancy than the number of teens can go down more. Absent parenting is one of the leading causes of teen pregnancy. Women who do not have both parents in the picture are eight times more likely to become pregnant at a young age than someone who has both parents. On account of absentee parents the time the parent leaves affect the risk that the child has on becoming a teen parent. When a parent leaves or is present but does not engage with the child, there is no one to lead by example. If there is no one for a teen to look up to they look for an alternative that may not make the best choices. As a result of not having a parent present, when the child executes a wrong decision, there is little to no discipline Decisions that are not in the best interest of the teenager are likely to increase if they know there will be no punishment for their actions. Shakespeare s Presentation of Rome and Egypt in Antony and Cleopatra As the title clearly suggests, Shakespeare s Antony and Cleopatra is based around the extraordinary relationship among two distinctive individuals, one a Roman general and the other an Egyptian queen. Along with Caesar who is also a Roman general, these entities dominate the play s tragic storyline progression. However whilst Antony and Cleopatra centres around a provocative love affair, Shakespeare makes it evident that there is a good deal larger tensions involved, a collision course between two worlds. In Antony and Cleopatra, West and East collide, but it does not in spite of Caesar s conquest over the land of Egypt, defeat it. Cleopatra s suicide implies that a touch of the East s character, the freedoms and fervour that are not signified in the play s notion of the West, cannot be listed by Caesar s victory. The play proposes that the East will survive on as a perceptible and invincible counterpart to the West, bound as inseparably and everlastingly as Antony and Cleopatra are in their mausoleum. As the play develops, Antony continues to occupy contradictory characteristics that play out the struggle between motive and feeling. In one instance, he is the rancorous war hero whom Caesar eulogizes and fears. Almost immediately after that, he surrenders his military designation by foolishly allowing Cleopatra to establish his course of action. As his Roman friends, even the faithful Enobarbus desert him, Antony feels that he has, without a doubt, lost himself in old age, and he resolves to salvage his dignified individuality by killing his self. Originally, this act may emerge to be a victory of motive over fervour, of Western consciousness over Eastern ones, but the play is not as straightforward as that. You go to a bar to drink some beers, you have entered a contract though we might not realise that we have entered into a contract. In the commercial world services and goods are normally purchased for resale or consumption. Usually the buyer and the seller will negotiate the terms of the purchase before they enter a transaction which will result in the sale. To create a contractual relationship both parties must intend their agreement to have legal consequences. Cases where parties of the agreement have not clearly expressed their intentions it will be left to the courts to judge whether they intended to get into a contract. An agreement of a purely social or domestic nature is not a contract. A good example is the Balfour v. Balfour (1919) case whereby the husband agreed to pay ВЈ30 to his wife every month while he was abroad. As he failed to pay the promised amount, his wife sued him for the recovery of the amount. The court held that she could not recover it because it was social agreement and the parties did not intend to create any legal relations. Nonetheless, even in the case of agreements of purely social or domestic nature, there may be intention of the parties to create legal obligations. In such cases the social agreement is intended to have legal consequences which results in a contract. In commercial and business agreements the law will presume that the parties entering into agreement intend those agreements to have legal consequences. A contract may be oral or in writing. If a certain type of contract is required by law to be in writing, it must comply with the necessary formalities as to writing, registration and attestation. If these legal formalities are not ... Constructionism And Intersectionality From a social constructionism perspective, the meanings and definitions of race are created through categorizing groups of people from a cultural context. As stated by Bowleg (2012), the term women and minorities are ubiquitously wedded in public health discourse, policy and research which fails to consider the intersection of these two categories whereas a woman can be both a minority as well as a female. By combining two aspects that each experience discrimination and oppression in their own rights individuals which share 1 or more are often marginalized further. The term intersectionality refers to the concept of acknowledging multiple aspects of individuals identities that may overlap or intersect. Gender, race, sexuality and class are all mutually exclusive aspects of humanity which can be categorized into groups; membership to one or more of these groups can intersect within the same individual.
