A Hero In Percy A Lightening Thief
Do you know what it s like to be a hero? A hero to you may be the superman in a comic book that
saves the girl from the bad guy. Or a hero can be someone that fought for what they believed in. A
hero can really just be the one main character in a story or in real life that makes an effort to make
everything right and helps everyone. If you ve ever met a hero like a soldier, a role model, or an
important person in your life you know that a hero is one that is noble and does the right things to help
others not only there selves. Being a hero is when you re selfless, brave, and humble. Heroes are the
characters that learn the most and do the most affective actions. There is always going to be a hero in
every story, movie, or real life scenario. A hero doesn t have to be the one who saves someone s life or
fights off evil and is always wearing a cape. A hero can be as simple as someone doing the right thing
not for themselves but for the good of someone else. Hero s choose to make the right choices even if it
s not to satisfy themselves and that can be shown in many ways. For example in the book Percy
Jackson A Lightening Thief the main character starts off being ... Show more content on

Heroes are the ones who step out and make their decision to try their best to help. A hero has to be
brave and full of courage because without being fearless they can t help or stand for what they think is
right. Reffering to Percy Jackson again, he couldn t have helped anyone or done the right thing
without being brave and valiant. If you re not brave you don t believe in yourself and at first heroes
don t think they can help but anyone can be brave you just have to find the courage. Quoted by the
unknown A hero is just someone who is brave for a little bit longer . This quote indicates that no
matter who or why, a person can be a hero because they decided to be the brave one and create a huge

Qualitative Case Study In Organizational Politics
Methodology
In order to explore individual meanings, definitions, examples and attitudes about organizational
politics other authors used a purely qualitative methodology (Buchanan, 1999; Buchanan and
Badham, 1999). This research uses a case study as the research strategy that allows researchers to
concentrate „on a single phenomenon or entity (the case), from which the researcher uncovers the
interaction of significant factors characteristic of the phenomenon. The case study focuses on holistic
description and explanation . Merriam (1998:29). Moreover, one review found that case studies to be
the most popular qualitative research strategy primarily due to its potential to generate novel and
groundbreaking theoretical insights (Piekkari, Welch Paavilainen, 2009). ... Show more content on

Using the qualitative case study approach can help find answers to the what, how and why questions
of the case to achieve a better understanding of the phenomenon studied by providing a descriptive
and explanatory account (Yin, 2003). Finally, the analysis of the case should generate an
understanding and explanation of why the story unfolded in the way it did. The micro political
perspective can help readers understand how managers behaved and managed the change which was
based on the goals, interests, experiences, interpretation and views of the participants involved.
The authors decided to limit the research to only one real time case study of an organization
undergoing organizational restructuring. Yin (2009) argues that the use of single case designs is
legitimate in following situations:
 when using a critical case to test a well formulated

Examples Of Police Abuse Of Power
Absolute power corrupts absolutely,is a saying that states that power tends to corrupt and that great
men are almost always bad men. Abuse of power has been relevant throughout history . the police
abused their power when they beat Rodney King and gave people cause to protest. The L.A. riots were
a dark few days in Los Angeles s history and is still a driving force behind the black power movement
The police let their powers corrupt on one fateful night. On march 3 1991 Rodney King a black
motorist was driving home when he led highway patrol on a high speed chase. ¨Rodney King was
beaten on march 3 1991 and filmed by onlooker George Holliday, who sold the footage to a local
news company .¨(Rodney King Case and the Los Angeles Riot.).the police would claim that he was
resisting arrest and driving under the influence, but that doesn t explain the beating. After months the
trial would be moved to Simi Valley a mainly white suburb due to widespread publicity. The charges

beat him had little regard for his life as they continually beat him till four people emerged from the
crowd to rescue him. When the people saw the carnage of the riots on tv people called on rodney king
to tell them to stop. ¨Can we all get along¨ Rodney King pleaded on television on the 3rd day of the
riots.¨ after the plead half of the rioters stopped and the rest could ve cared less because they didn t see

Forecasting
Forecasting Business forecasting is the process of studying historical performance for the purpose of
using the information gained to project future business conditions so that decisions can be made today
that will assist in the achievement of certain goals. Forecasting involves taking historical date and
using it to project future data with a mathematical model. Forecasts are extensively used to support
business decisions and direct the work of operations managers. In this paper I will introduce different
types of forecasting techniques.
What is Forecasting Forecasting is the art and science of predicting future events. Forecasting is a
statement about the future. Operations management is designed to support forecasted ... Show more

This technique is part of a set of techniques that are useful in situations where past data do not exist,
causal relationships have not been identified, or some major change has occurred in the forecasting
context which is not accounted for by other techniques. Evidence as to the effectiveness of using these
methods by themselves is mixed, although using them can provide good forecasts, especially in
uncertain environments. The objective of these techniques is to provide rational, honest, and
systematic estimates. (Marketing Profs) Some advantages of jury of executive opinion is it can be
done easily and quickly without a lot of elaborate statistical manipulations and it incorporates a variety
of opinions from executives. (Sales Forecasting) Delphi method. The Delphi method gathers a panel
of experts from different fields to comment upon the research of others in their own and different
disciplines. It is typically used to arrive at high level predictions. The aim is to account for the
complex factors that affect long range forecasting by generating a wide range of possible future
scenarios. The method also claims to safeguard against the tendency of group discussions on these
kinds of matters to arrive at a consensus. (Delphi Method) Sales force composite. A method of

Junot Diaz s Truly Does Tell The Brief Story Of The...
Junot Diaz s novel truly does tell the brief story of the wondrous life of Oscar de Léon, our Dominican
American protagonist, better known as Oscar Wao. Weighing in at 245 pounds, our hopeless romantic
loves comic books, writes science fiction in all of his spare time, and, as described by our
homodiegetic narrator Yunior, is a loser with a capital L (Diaz 17). While the title might allude that
this is a story solely about Oscar, Diaz also delves deep into the lives of those closest to him. This
narrative tells the epic journey of Oscar, as well as his family members, and how their experiences in
the United States and Dominican Republic come together full circle at the end of The Brief Wondrous
Life of Oscar Wao, with the help of some postmodern techniques. As an immigrant himself, Diaz is
able to use his journey to bring attention to the cultural stereotypes of his characters, but unlike many
bildungsroman writings, our character s coming of age story does not provide him with enough
spiritual learnings to give him the quintessential happy ending. The overall growth of Oscar only
reveals the flaws in his culture, a fatal flaw in his case. Because Oscar does not comply with the
Dominican standards, he faces heavy repercussions in his life. As a story told in a fragmented, non
linear form, Yunior is able to recall anecdotes from different time periods, whether of Oscar, his
mother Beli, or his sister Lola. Diaz gives his narrator the ability to tell a historical account of

Multistep Synthesis Lab Report
Multistep Synthesis Of Benzilic Acid From Benzaldehyde Jesus Pena L20326354 Lamar University
CHEM 3112 Spring 2017 April 26th, 2017 Abstract: Benzilic acid is used in many aspects of industry.
These types of industry are the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries. This process of taking
benzaldehyde and using a multistep synthesis procedure makes making benzilic acid fairly cheap. This
is mainly due to the fact that benzaldehyde is a cheap starting material and is very resourceful. The
overall objective of the experiment was to obtain benzilic acid with the use of the multistep synthesis
procedure which consist of a benzoin condensation, oxidation of benzoin, and a final molecular
rearrangement of benzil. This is a fairly long experiment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not exceed a temperature of 20°C. Proceeding with the reaction a total of 15.10ml of benzaldehyde
was added and allowed to reflux over the course of an hour. Once reflux was done mixture was
allowed to crystallize and the product, benzoin, was collected with vacuum filtration and washed with
cold water along with two 10ml portions of cold methanol. The second step required taking the weight
of benzoin and halving it in order to know the amount of ammonium nitrate to obtain. So, 3.142 g of
ammonium nitrate and 35ml of acetic acid were added into a round bottom flask and ammonium
nitrate was allowed to dissolve. 0.165 g of copper (II) acetate and the benzoin were added to the round
bottom flask. This was then added to the reflux apparatus and allowed to reflux for about an hour.
After reflux mixture was added to 100ml of crushed ice and cooled afterward was vacuum filtrated

Black Single Mom Research Paper
When I was in middle school, not a week went by where I was not sent out of class. Given my thirst
for learning, I remember being frustrated leaving the classroom with my head held low and a referral
in hand. My teachers would always tell me, your mouth is going to get you in trouble! Yet, I never
comprehended how my actions warranted my removal. Raised by a successful Black single mother,
she taught me at an early age what it meant to be a Black woman in today s American society. The
daughter of field workers from Mississippi, education was my mother s most important value. My
grandparents worked hard to make sure she and her siblings received the education they did not and in
turn, my mother stopped at nothing to make sure my brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

my Black female students endure the same type of pushout from their teachers like I did, I began to
question what our educational systems are doing to our girls. Seeking answers, I soon grew frustrated
with the lack of gender and race based studies for Black girls in urban school settings. We were
trapped in the juncture of race and gender where studies on Black youth focus primarily on issues
encountered by Black boys and the studies on girls gives attention to the challenges faced by White
girls. Because of the absence of information on Black girls, many often make the assumption that
Black girls are not up against some unique challenges of their own which is far from the

Investigating the Rate of Reaction Between Marble Chips...
Investigating the rate of reaction between Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and hydrochloric acid
Aim.
In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by
measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of
Marble
Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute.
Hypothesis.
The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. This happens
because by increasing the surface area we are also increasing the rate of collisions between the
particles. When there is more of the reactant to react with the reaction speeds up. Therefore, my
hypothesis is: the reaction will be faster when using small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This increased the accuracy of the obtained results.
GRAPH
From the table of results and the graphs I can deduce that by increasing the surface area the rate at
which the gas was produced also increased. The line which represented the amount of gas given off on
the graph was steeper in the test using powder therefore the gas was produced at a faster rate. Roughly
the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was correct.
Evaluation.
As I repeated the experiment 3 times and worked out the average rate of reaction in each test, I think
my results are quite reliable.
However, I could make further improvement by increasing the number of tests and taking the results
with a smaller gap such as 10 seconds instead of 20. I could also increase the amount of Calcium
Carbonate to more than 2g and keep the

In September 1934, Rommel first met Hitler. Rommel was devoted to Hitler because of Hitler s
acceptance of the army over the SA. Rommel thought Hitler was a good man, and he was swept up in
the patriotic pride that now ran rampant throughout Germany. Hitler was just as impressed with
Rommel, and Rommel s character soon gained him the position of Major General of Hitler s Special
Guard, a very prestigious honor. Soon Rommel and Hitler became close friends. Hitler consulted with
Rommel on where he would like to go from there. Rommel told him he would like to lead an armored

Saving Time
Time management determines by the difference between successful and unsuccessful people.
Successful people are able to balance the goals they wish to achieve and duties. And this success
comes from their ability to their time optimally in light of their objectives.
There are two types in our lives:
Type I: A difficult time organizing, or managing how much time we spend in our basic needs such as
eating, comfort, family relations and social mission. It is a time cannot use it a lot in what has been
designated a degree of importance to keeping equilibrium in our life.
Type II: Time that can be organized and managed to devote to work, our own lives. Can we take

Sometimes we need rest and break to achieve the goal, so what we do is close the computer, close the
phone, shut down the TV or anything that makes noise. Take a short nap. That gives more energy for
every day. Also sleeping at night is better.
What I understood from these ways is if we want to manage our time well, we have to look for
efficacy and efficiencies.
Efficacy: to perform work properly and reach the desired result.
Efficiency: the performance of work in the right way and getting to the desired result, but with
minimal effort, time and cost. we need to profit and Exploit marginal times, times between
commitments and actions (such as: the use of the car, waiting at the doctor, travel, waiting for meals,
expected visitors). We must know How we spend time, then decompose and identify times marginal,
and develop a plan of operation to benefit them as much as possible. Also do not give up urgent for the
things unnecessary. According to Cameron Chapman bellow are sixteen tips to help us better
managing our time:
1) Get organized.
2) Separate work Space from Everything Else Space.
3) Take advantage of time

This paper is a descriptive essay that explains in detail how or why Colin Powell s eighteen leadership
principles pertains to me during phase II of 922A Warrant Officer Basic Course. I chose three
leadership principals that I was able to identify with: (1) Being responsible sometimes means pissing
people off. (2) You don t know what you can get away with until you try. (3) Perpetual optimism is a
force multiplier. This paper describes my personal opinions and real life experiences that pertain to
each of the three principals chosen. Three Leadership Principals from Colin Powell s Leadership

society expects of a military officer. Leadership means to positively influence, motivate and provide
your Soldiers with a sense of purpose to accomplish the mission to the highest standard. General Colin

leadership. After reading through the eighteen principles I have chosen three that I am able to identify

Lab Report On Projectile
What is a projectile? In what is a projectile (Physics Classroom, 2015), a projectile is a moving object
and the only force acting upon it is gravity. The actual path of a projectile could vary according to the
position and direction of the launch of the projectile. The image types of projectiles (2015) shows
three types of projectiles. P1 is the projectile which has the movement only in vertical direction while
P2 has more vertical and a little horizontal motion thus moving in two dimensions. P3 has both
motions almost equal. Projectile has the characteristic of being under influence the force of gravity
only. If the path of a moving object is affected significantly by some air resistance, the object is not a
projectile any more. It is also not a projectile while at the source or when it hits something during its
flight. A ball shown in the diagram below is not a projectile till the ball leaves the hands of the person
dropping it or throwing it. The air resistance can be ignored at this point because the effect is not
significant. It again seizes to be a projectile when it is in contact with the ground because the force of
the reaction from the ground and the force of friction has come into action. P1 P2 P3 Diagram 1

Fanon Vs Pontcorvo Essay
Frantz Fanon and Pontecorvo could not have come from more different backgrounds, so it seems.
Pontecorvo was a Catholic film maker from Italy while Fanon hailed from Martinique and practiced
psychiatry, philosophy and wrote about post colonialist theory. Even though these men seemed
completely different, they both believed that violence, was not the answer to solving problems. More
specifically, these two men created art and wrote about colonialism and what is perpetuated because of
it. Pontecorvo created the Battle of Algiers not too long after the end of the Algerian War, which ended
in 1962, with Algerian independence from France. The director s intent to film so shortly after the end
of the war speaks to the type of feel he wanted to convey. Pontecorvo captured the heartbreak and

Christ like manner his arms outstretched in order to look like a cross. After a bombing scene in the

is Pontecorvo s subtle way of stating that not all colonizers are the same. Pontecorvo s stance on
violence toward the colonizer is apparent he does not think it is justifiable. By humanizing the
colonizer, especially during the bombings, he is stating that we are all broken people. Christianity
recognizes human depravity, which is why people need God to save them and forgive them for their
sins. Pontecorvo s music plays a massive role in conveying how both types of people, the colonizer
and the colonized are capable of great evil, but both can be justified through God. He believes that
once the colonizers and colonized can understand that they share the same human brokenness, then
maybe they can try to understand each other or work towards restorative

American Vandal Satire
Mockumentaries are an over looked current new genre of television, According to Dictionary.com
they are a movie or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. Most
mockumentaries often overlap into the comedy genre, and are sometimes called satirical or parody
documentaries. Dictionary.com also states the word parody as, a humorous or satirical imitation of a
serious piece of literature or writing. American Vandal and Making a Murderer are two effectively
different television shows that were released in 2016. American Vandal is a prime example of a

Examples Of Personification In The Pardoners Tale
In The Pardoners Tale, the three rioters come together to kill Death, but in doing so they come upon
some things that they can t go back and change. An analysis of The Pardoners Tale, shows how
personification and irony are not so funny when Death is involved. Death is personified throughout
The Pardoners Tale. Personification occurs when an author gives living characteristics to something
that isn t living. The first example occurs when the three rioters are drinking and they hear a funeral.
The tavern boy tells the men about their friend s death. , sir no need i promise you, two hours before
you came here i was told. He was a friend of yours in days of old, and suddenly last night, the man

Little did he know that the other two rioters were planning to kill him. There are three types of irony
told in The Pardoners Tale. Another form of irony is situational irony. Situational irony is when a
reader expects one thing then something else occurs. Situational irony occurs in The Pardoners Tale
when the three rioters are in the bar, Let s each hold up a hand to one another, each of us will become
the others brother. ( Chaucer LL (696 697)) but by the time the three rioters find the gold under the
tree they all plot to kill each other in order to have more money to themselves. The final example of
irony told in The Pardoners Tale, is dramatic irony. Dramatic irony is when an audience knows
something that the characters are not aware of. Dramatic irony is found in The Pardoners Tale, when
the youngest rioter arrives with the poisoned wine planning to kill the other two rioters, but the other
two rioters had plotted against the youngest trampling him and killing him. Once the youngest rioter is
dead the other two drink the poisoned wine not knowing that the wine was

What is Asperger Syndrome you ask? It is a rare type of autism that affects about two out of 10,000

by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and
abstract concepts. It is sometimes difficult to identify an individual having Asperger syndrome as it

also produce a variety of jams, jellies, and fruit snacks, The first grape juice known to be processed in
the United States was produced by Dr. Thomas B. Welch,... (Morris, Par. 1). The grape juice was an
alternative for wine in religion practices, Their product was used for the sacrament on the Communion
table of the Vineland New Jersey Methodist Church (Morris, Par. 1). Since then Welch s has continued
to expand through the states and in other countries, becoming a leading competitor for kid s fruit
juices. Welch s ad tells us that it is 100% grape juice , there is no added sugar ever , and that there are
two servings of fruit in every glass but many may question the accuracy of these labels. Parents are
lured to buy their children fruit juice because there is a lack of knowledge. Although Welch s may
have actual benefits, research will help parents to understand the importance of real fruits and to cut

Pathow And Density Experiment Essay
For the first set of trials, flow and density were measured during each trial. The density of vehicles is
defined as the number of vehicles per unit length. It was mea sured as the total number of vehicles
divided by 303, the total number of spaces on the road. Since the number of cars on the road did not
change over the course of one trial, the density could be measured at any point during the trial. Flow is
defined as the number of vehicles passing a certain point on the road per unit time. To measure flow,
the total number of vehicles that passed the right side of the Netlogo display was calculated and
divided by the amount of time that passed, 3000 time steps. The probability of shifting (p shift) was

The density was increased in increments of 3 303 because the number of cars always has to be a
multiple of 3 (so that there will be an equal number in each lane), 6 and the average flow over 3000
time steps was measured for each density setting. This allowed me to create a flow density diagram for
p shift=0.1. I repeated this procedure with p shift=0.2, p shift=0.3, p shift=0.5, and p shift=0.8 to get
an idea of how different values of p shift would affect the flow density relationship. For the first flow
density graph (Figure 1), all vehicles were given a maximum speed of 10. For the second flow density
graph (Figure 2), maximum speeds of 8, 9, and 10 were distributed among the vehicles with equal
probability. In a second set of trials, I measured average speed and density. The average speed of a
vehicle over time was calculated by computing the total distance it had traveled and dividing by 3000
time steps. Since a vehicle moved a distance equivalent to its speed in each time step, average speed
could also be calculated by computing the sum of its speeds in each time step and dividing by 3000.
Density was measured in the same way as in the first trial. Initially, 30 vehicles were placed on the

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead Comparison
Reality is relative to each individual. Everyone will perceive reality differently prominently depending
on the upbringing, the environment of an individual, and changes throughout time as they become
more and more exposed to the world. In Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams reality is
explored more about discovering the big question of what is the meaning of life. Although in
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard, it focuses primarily on what is death. Yet
together both these novels conclude to a riveting theme of reality is an illusion and vice versa. Both
authors use satire to combine humor and intelligence to convey the message accordingly. In both
stories there are symbols that lead to a realization of the theme. In fact in both cases, they entail
beautiful aphorism for readers to enjoy the theme and the book as a whole. Therefore, through an

Pharmaceutical Patents And Its Effects On Society
Everyone loves a good bad guy. It seems to make complex issues easier to deal with when there is a
scapegoat defined. Disease kills many people on a daily basis all around the world. However, many
people view the big drug companies as evil profiteers in the fight against disease, wielding patents to
protect their profits rather than wielding medicine to combat disease. Medicines have been created to
combat disease which greatly improves survival outcomes and daily quality of life. Many of the large
pharmaceutical companies are responsible for inventing and manufacturing a majority of the
medications that have had this positive impact on society. Although it may seem that many view
pharmaceutical companies as profiteering from illness via patents, people world wide benefit from the
process, especially when generic production is authorized. This would never happen without the
current model utilizing pharmaceutical patents.
Patents give intellectual rights to a person or a group of people that invent something. Patents fuel
innovation because they give a temporary monopoly to the inventor that received the patent.
Otherwise, the originator of a product may not receive the credit, more specifically, the financial
reward for creating something useful and sharing it with the world. This applies to medicine just as
much as anything else. Pharmaceutical companies spend enormous amounts of time and treasure to

Equitable Income Inequality
The distribution of income is the manner in which income is divided amongst the members of the
economy. A more equitable distribution of income from work would lead to all individuals in society
having a similar quality of life. This equitable distribution of income may be either positive or
negative. Positive factors may include the poor being able to access better education and health care
and avoiding the inequality of opportunity they may face. It also decreases and diminishes the poverty
faced by individuals. The negative factors of a more equitable income include it having an effect on
the economy by lowering the incentives for people to study hard and work hard to achieve a higher
education and to get a higher knowledge based job and discourages innovation and people taking
risks. Sweden has a fairly equitable distribution of income, its Gini Index is 23.0 a country with 0.0

What Was The Role Of Women In Nineteenth-Century England
Introduction
A conflict stirred among the sexes during the nineteenth century that reverberated through all aspects
of life from science to literature. The advent of the Industrial Revolution in the late 1700s and the
introduction of capitalism sparked the discussion on the nature and role of women as society shifted
from a land centered economy to an urban workforce. This argument gained such notoriety it
commonly became known as The Woman Question, and it covered aspects of the legal and political
rights of women, education, and economic opportunities. Such was the discussion that scientists,
philosophers, and biologists like Charles Darwin, Herbert Spencer, and Patrick Geddes entered the

topic being the most prominent in the discussion on The Woman Question and what roles women were
to occupy. British philosopher Herbert Spencer suggested everyone had basic rights, including
women, and that these rights were necessary for social progress and those basic rights fell in with
cooperation among the sexes rather than competition (Sweet). Similarly, Patrick Geddes, a Scottish
biologist and follower of Spencer, theorized that male and female characteristics were complementary
and must be kept in balance. His views supported, to some degree, the separation of men and women
into separate spheres not because the sexes were unequal but because they were and needed ways in
which to express their strengths. Interestingly enough, these types of ideas and theories surfaced in the
literature of the Victorian era, namely that of Coventry Patmore and Florence

for the first time, there is a close up on their facial expressions. This helps the audience to understand
the emotion that both characets are feeling and alsp it creates an intimacy between the two. In contrast,
the 2013 version there are wider shots of characters positionnig which allows the audience to see the

Sickle Cell Disease Lab Report
How will I show that DNA mutation causes sickle cell disease? (Include sketch)
The disease is caused by a mutated version of the gene that help makes hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is
the protein that carries oxygen in red blood cells. Sickle cell is a disorder in the blood caused by
abnormal hemoglobin proteins. The abnormal hemoglobin protein caused sickle cell shaped red blood
cells. The sickle cell red blood cells are crescent shapes and can clog up very easily in blood canals. In
the diagram to the right it shows how a mutation causes a change in the amino acid.
How will I show that the DNA mutation affects the hemoglobin protein? (Include sketch)
DNA mutations occur and it changes how the amino acid will turn out. A bunch of amino acids make
up one protein. So, DNA mutation occurs and literally changes the outcome of the protein. An
example of this is the following sequences that shows change throughout the codes.

With red blood cells carrying mutant hemoglobin proteins, this means the red blood cells are deprived
of oxygen. The red blood cells become sickle shaped. This means the red blood cells become more
crescent shaped than round shaped. The sickle shaped red blood cells then clogs up and blocks blood
canals. In the next paragraph, it will show how the sickle shaped red blood cells clog up blood canals.
In the diagram to the right, it shows how mutated hemoglobin proteins are different. It shows that they
get clumped up and stick together.
How will I show how mutated red blood cells affect the circulatory system? (Include

Serebrier 9th Symphony
A bit close to a decade ago, I confessed to a friend and fellow reviewer, Julian Grant, who graced
these Amazon pages with his own informative and thought provoking reviews I took the pleasure in
reading, of how dissatisfied I was in music programmes particularly in America s concert halls. I was
ranting about how too little we were exposed to the great composers like Glazunov, Atterberg,
Nielsen, Popov, Myaskovsky, and others and the need to rectify that in part by not overplaying the
familiar Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Beethoven, et al. in these halls. But Julian Grant put the matter into
perspective in reminding me that repeated listening is a complex ingredient in music appreciation. It is
indeed amazing, now that I am thinking about it, of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is indeed a despondent, anguish work, written (in 1910 originally for piano) at the time in Russian
history where violence and uncertainties abounded. Its bleak language is very much akin to that of his
Two Prelude Improvisations (1918) for pianoforte where conditions were even more precarious. Truth
to tell, I cannot think of a more striking, penetrating orchestral realization of the work s profound
sense of melancholy and dreariness than Gavriil Yudin s. And Serebrier brings these attributes
movingly, with the menacing flutes, prominent in the middle allegro moderato section, that are
perfectly caught. Come to think of it, it would ve been interesting if Glazunov s dramatic overture The
Song of Destiny is included here, for it too shows the composer s changing musical persona under the
conditions he was in.
But be that as it may, this album, extremely well recorded and reverberant, caps what is now the most
absorbing, revelatory, thought provoking, satisfyingly searching Glazunov symphony cycle to date
(and imagine that admirable sense of preparation and knowledge of these symphonies in the
performances of them that took place in just four days June 2 5, 2009). And while some will take issue
with Serebrier s essay where he uses the Bernstein/Mahler series as an example of how much of a
revelation a series like this is (or how much it can be), I for one will not pose an

  • 2. A Hero In Percy A Lightening Thief Do you know what it s like to be a hero? A hero to you may be the superman in a comic book that saves the girl from the bad guy. Or a hero can be someone that fought for what they believed in. A hero can really just be the one main character in a story or in real life that makes an effort to make everything right and helps everyone. If you ve ever met a hero like a soldier, a role model, or an important person in your life you know that a hero is one that is noble and does the right things to help others not only there selves. Being a hero is when you re selfless, brave, and humble. Heroes are the characters that learn the most and do the most affective actions. There is always going to be a hero in every story, movie, or real life scenario. A hero doesn t have to be the one who saves someone s life or fights off evil and is always wearing a cape. A hero can be as simple as someone doing the right thing not for themselves but for the good of someone else. Junot Diaz s novel truly does tell the brief story of the wondrous life of Oscar de Léon, our Dominican American protagonist, better known as Oscar Wao. Weighing in at 245 pounds, our hopeless romantic loves comic books, writes science fiction in all of his spare time, and, as described by our homodiegetic narrator Yunior, is a loser with a capital L (Diaz 17). While the title might allude that this is a story solely about Oscar, Diaz also delves deep into the lives of those closest to him. This narrative tells the epic journey of Oscar, as well as his family members, and how their experiences in the United States and Dominican Republic come together full circle at the end of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, with the help of some postmodern techniques. As an immigrant himself, Diaz is able to use his journey to bring attention to the cultural stereotypes of his characters, but unlike many bildungsroman writings, our character s coming of age story does not provide him with enough spiritual learnings to give him the quintessential happy ending. The overall growth of Oscar only reveals the flaws in his culture, a fatal flaw in his case. Because Oscar does not comply with the Dominican standards, he faces heavy repercussions in his life. As a story told in a fragmented, non linear form, Yunior is able to recall anecdotes from different time periods, whether of Oscar, his mother Beli, or his sister Lola. These types of industry are the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries. This process of taking benzaldehyde and using a multistep synthesis procedure makes making benzilic acid fairly cheap. This is mainly due to the fact that benzaldehyde is a cheap starting material and is very resourceful. In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute. Hypothesis. The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. Roughly the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was correct. Evaluation. An analysis of The Pardoners Tale, shows how personification and irony are not so funny when Death is involved. Death is personified throughout The Pardoners Tale. Personification occurs when an author gives living characteristics to something that isn t living. The first example occurs when the three rioters are drinking and they hear a funeral. Since the number of cars on the road did not change over the course of one trial, the density could be measured at any point during the trial. This allowed me to create a flow density diagram for p shift=0.1. I repeated this procedure with p shift=0.2, p shift=0.3, p shift=0.5, and p shift=0.8 to get an idea of how different values of p shift would affect the flow density relationship. For the first flow density graph (Figure 1), all vehicles were given a maximum speed of 10. For the second flow density graph (Figure 2), maximum speeds of 8, 9, and 10 were distributed among the vehicles with equal probability. In a second set of trials, I measured average speed and density. The average speed of a vehicle over time was calculated by computing the total distance it had traveled and dividing by 3000 time steps. Since a vehicle moved a distance equivalent to its speed in each time step, average speed could also be calculated by computing the sum of its speeds in each time step and dividing by 3000.
