Understanding Clinical Decision Support System
Understanding Clinical Decision Support System, Its Origin and the Changing Face
The Era has begun where a tremendous amount of data and silos of information are being generated.
The websites, blogs, the electronic health record are all jam packed with information. Posts from
Facebook, tweets from twitters, interactive websites are a rich source of information. If one can
imagine, information has as much as widespread as the universe. However, what happens to the heap
of information generated? Do we use the information to convert into knowledge and apply it to our
daily life? Are they helping physicians, patients and other clinical staff in their decision making? The
integration of all available information has resulted in Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS). This
system is invented to help the physicians and other clinical staff in decision making process. But the
question again is are they comfortable using CDSS. What if the users could write decision rule which
would be their own personal experience. If they could write their own rule will it increase their
acceptability? The article answers the questions raised and provides a brief description of a CDSS
developed by the Regenstrief Institute, which is contributing to an altogether different face of CDSS.
This, if successfully launched can result in better acceptability among users, which can solve other
user related or initiated difficulties.
CDSS are basically formulated with the intention to assist

The Assassination Of Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto
It was night of December 27, 2007, before my ninth grade final exam, I was in a tutoring center when
we heard many gunshots outside; it wasn t just one person who was shooting in the air but several. We
were frightened for our lives, as they started approaching the stores and small shops to shut them
down forcefully. The cell phone signals were jammed, and we were unable to contact our parents.
After about half an hour, we heard on in the news that the ex Prime minister and chairperson of one of
the political party (Pakistan People s Party) of Pakistan was assassinated. Benazir Bhutto was a
daughter of ex prime minister and a woman with many qualities; she was a Harvard and Oxford
graduate, a well known political figure and the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Benazir Bhutto was the eldest daughter of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Benazir Bhutto
was born on June 21, 1953. She became the 11th Prime Minster of Pakistan in 1988 1990 after
Pakistan People s Party won the elections. Benazir Bhutto s father was a man who was highly
educated and very modern. His daughter followed his footsteps to promote the education level for men
and women in Pakistan. Bhutto was physically brave beyond comprehension. She had a commanding
personality, was extremely intelligent and well read (Ispahani, Huffington post).
She was already studying at Radcliffe College at Harvard University in 1969, at

Disadvantages Of Code Switching
As the globalization of world economies, cultures, and peoples continue to increase, it is inevitable
that languages also follow. In the present day, it is nearly safe to say that there are no nations in the
world that are homogeneously monolingual. With the knowledge of two or more language varieties,
comes the ability for bilinguals or multilinguals to move between two or more varieties within a single
interaction. This phenomenon is known as code switching (CS). It should be noted that CS is different
from style shifting and other language contact phenomena because the varieties being used are distinct
it s one variety or the other at one time. Such shifts may occur at any level of linguistic structure,
whether it be within a single paragraph, sentence, clause, or word. The places where CS occurs can be
categorized into four subtypes: intrasentential switching (within a sentence), intersentential switching
(between sentences), tag switching (tag phrases in a different code from the rest of the sentence), and
intra word switching (within a word). Each category has drawn significant attention from the
sociolinguistic community, but the reasons for the occurrence of CS within the confines of a sentence
(intrasentential) has attracted the most academic interest. It is not at anytime that varieties can be
combined intra sententially. There are a number of compatibility problems that could emerge such as
different word orders, grammatical structures, categorization patterns,

Essay on Technology System Options in Restaurants
When opening a new restaurant it is important to consider technology options that will offer
competitive advantage, enhance profit, and work efficiently for the establishment. Three systems that
are generally purchased for restaurant use are inventory systems, point of sales systems, and
reservation management systems. All of these systems should be researched and compared on their
functionality so the most suitable technologies can be implemented into the daily activities of the
restaurant. An inventory management system would be a great asset to any restaurant. It is very
important to be able to keep track of inventory to make sure items are being used and food costs are

A point of sales system is another great addition to nay growing business. The POS has many
functions. The POS will contain a register for purchases, have the ability to track reports and menu
maintenance, improve service speed, and enhance customer service. To increase service speed, the
POS efficiently makes order entries that are then transferred to the kitchen. This results in fewer
mistakes and the ability to track ticket and wait times. The system also has the function of splitting
checks and makes card processing simple. This ensures more seat turnover and shorter wait times for
the customers. In return this has the potential to increase revenue at every service. POS can create
loyalty programs that ensure repeat customers and generate more sales of gift cards. POS provides
operational control that analyzes detailed reports to drill down on sales, server and restaurant
performance (NCR 2013). A software like ALOHA also provides a training interface that allows new
employees to learn the system quickly. This reduces the cost a restaurant would ultimately have to pay
on training new employees. The ALOHA system is very up to date with new technology trends,
providing mobile and digital signage and cloud based solutions and social technologies. The variety of
functions in a point of sales system makes it very attractive to new restaurant owners. The cost of a
POS can range hundreds to thousands of dollars based on the size of the

Alfred Mosher Butts was the first person to invent Scrabble during the great depression of the 1930 s.
It was initially named Lexico, and also called Criss Cross. It was not made with a board incorporated
to start off with, but played without any type of board. He studied the use of words, and discovered
how certain letters were used more often than other letters. He then proceeded to put scores on each
letter, and the first board was made of paper. At first the game didn t sell very well, but James Brunot
popularized the game when he took an interest, in 1947. Burnot took over the making of the game, and
managed to sell about 2000 sets in his first year of production. The board was originally made from
paper, and written on with pen. Eventually, the tiles were made from wood with the letters engraved
on them. However, people began to cheat as they were able to feel the letters they were picking out, so
the letters were changed to plastic material instead. The game didn t really have much sales until 1952
when the owner of Macy s decided to invest in the sales of the game. He had played Scrabble while on
vacation, and thought it would be good for his business to sell the game in his stores. Shortly after,
other toy stores began stocking the game, and did very well with the sales. The game cost $3 to buy
during the 50 s, and a deluxe version was on sale for $10. Richard Nixon and the Queen

Poetic Principle and The Rationale of Verse. He also produced the thrilling tale, The Cask of
Amontillado, and poems such as Ulalume and The Bells. Most of Poe s work is concerned with terror
and sadness, but in normal circumstances the poet was a pleasant companion. The way Poe talked was
so mysterious and dark, therefore Edgar Allan Poe talked brilliantly, and with so much emotional and
passion in his poems. Even when he does not hurl his characters into the clutch of mysterious forces or
onto the untrodden paths of the beyond, he uses the anguish of imminent death as the means of
causing the nerves to quiver ( The Pit and the Pendulum ), and his grotesque invention deals with
corpses and decay in an uncanny play with the aftermath of death. Edgar ... Show more content on

He was capable of writing angelic or weird poetry, with a supreme sense of rhythm and word appeal,
or prose of sumptuous beauty and suggestiveness, with the apparent abandon of compelling
inspiration; yet he would write down a problem of morbid psychology or the outlines of an
unrelenting plot in a hard and dry style. In Poe s masterpieces the double contents of his temper, of his
mind, and of his art are fused into a oneness of tone, structure, and movement, the more effective,
perhaps, as it is compounded of various elements. As a critic, Poe laid great stress upon correctness of
language, metre, and structure. He formulated rules for the short story, in which he sought the ancient
unities the short story should relate a complete action and take place within one day in one place. To
these unities he added that of mood or effect. He was not extreme in these views, however. He praised
longer works and sometimes thought allegories and morals admirable if not crudely presented. Poe
admired originality, often in work very different from his own, and was sometimes an unexpectedly
generous critic of decidedly minor writers

performances with his family such as a Las Vegas style Revue that they performed with Motown hits
and celebrity impersonations. When he was four years old he decided to join the family musical act

Socrates Worldview Of Socrates
Part 1: Socrates Worldview Socrates is a widely renowned teacher, who has taught and demonstrated a
variety of lessons that regard how he views the world. Socrates has described his view on morality,
purpose, death, and the ultimate. He has spoken about these views through multiple texts including
The Last Days of Socrates and they have been interpreted through the text Socrates by George
Rudebusch. Through these worldviews, Socrates has given people the opportunity to expand their
wisdom and question the world around them.
Morality
In the novel The Last Day of Socrates, Socrates explains that a central moral principle is that no one
must do wrong. ...that to commit injustice is in every case bad and dishonorable for the person who

Therefore, if these things are not exchanged with the help of wisdom then Socrates believes that the
aspect of virtue is ...a mere illusion. (Phaedo 69b). In conclusion, Socrates view on morality is based
upon justice, examining how to live, and expanding one s wisdom.
Purpose Socrates found his purpose through oracles and dreams by a divine power, ...since I was
trying to find out the meaning of the oracle, I was bound to interview everyone who had a reputation
for knowledge. (Apology 22a), from the oracle of Apollo, Socrates believed that his purpose was to
philosophize. Socrates would question reputable wise men and try to prove the oracle that he
(Socrates) was not the wisest man. After interviewing men with a high reputation, Socrates began to
expose them for their ignorance and their deficiency. He also determined that his wisdom was of no
value, yet he was the wisest mortal. He also established that there are three levels of wisdom; real
wisdom (the highest), being wisest among men (the middle), not being wise, but seeming wise,
especially to oneself (the lowest). Even after establishing his purpose and proving the oracle, he felt as
if he should still philosophize (Mission from God, pg. 20). Along with morality, Socrates had the
belief that our purpose in life was to examine how to live, he thought that we must come

2008). In September 2002, Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170 million
dollars from Tyco and swindling $430 million in the sale of company shares. Tyco s former chief
corporate counsel Mark A. Belnick was also found to have forged business records to hide over $14
million dollars that he received in company loans (Timeline of the Tyco International scandal, 2005).
The first trial began in October 2003, which was declared a mistrial in April 2004, because a juror said
she received a letter pressurizing her to convict Kozlowski and Swartz. The second trial began in
January 2005 and ended in June 2005, with Kozlowski and Swartz found guilty and in a separate trial,
Belnick was freed of all charges against him (Timeline of the Tyco International scandal, 2005).
The spending and loans were able to go on for so long because of Kozlowski s unethical leadership
style. However, Kozlowski felt right and content about his doings and continued to do so. He was
shrewd enough to understand the loopholes that existed in the company which he could use to his
advantage and was successful in soliciting several confidants who were willing to be his partners in
crime. He intelligently built the required trust with his leadership team, employees and stakeholders,
hence effective in portraying the needed picture to encompass the success of the company. Tyco had

Why Do Jewish Women Join Partisan Groups
Jewish women fighting within the partisan groups faced an uphill battle in their attempt to gain respect
and find their place within the group. Being both Jewish and women, just gaining access into the
group was difficult but then once they were in, they faced being bound by traditional feminine role
and the threat of sexual abuse. Many partisan women though, did not let racism, and sexism define
them and proved themselves valuable through their work ethics, skills, and strength. Through several
stories we have learned about, we can see the heroism that these women showed and how they broke
away from the traditional roles that women were expected to play, shattering the stereotypes that were
put on them. These women survived not only being a partisan but also the evil twins of anti Semitic
and sexual violence (JPEF1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many Jewish women did not join the partisans out of fear, and felt that their role was to remain loyal
to their family, even if that meant death, and many men agreed with this. We see this with Meyer
Orbuch who refused to take his sister into his partisan group saying, no girls can go with us. Only
boys can go (JPEF2). So the women that did join partisans were already breaking free of the
traditional roles that many people felt they should be playing as women. Women that joined the
partisans wanted to live, and to avenge the humiliation that had been thrown upon them and their
families. This concept of women wanting to fight and use a gun broke conventional roles and shows
that they were not bound by

Canada s Role In Ww2
In the final two years of the Second World War, Canadian operations was astonishing from the simple
growth and expansion of the RCN, working alongside Britain to engage in and manage convoy
protection. Canada s naval contribution was essential over U Boat attacks on shipping, and because of
such undertakings, Canadian naval officers conducted an ultimately successful campaign to have
Canada s efforts in the Battle of the Atlantic acknowledged by the creation of an independent
Canadian command in the northwest Atlantic. In December 1942, Canada successfully won an
administrative battle to gain responsibility for the distribution of all intelligence concerning convoys
under Canadian control, and because of complex additions to the Enigma machines ... Show more

Moving forward, it is also highly unlikely that Britain would have survived after the Battle of Britain
had the Royal Canadian Navy not been assisting merchant convoys crossing the Atlantic from the US
and Canada. The air effort presented similar trends as the RCN in May 1945, there were 784 aircraft in
Coastal command, with 511 used against submarines and the rest for enemy attacks. Approximately
153,000 flight personnel were trained out of a total of 239,761 that were engaged in British and
Commonwealth flying operations, a pivotal choice in gaining air superiority victory over the sky
would never have happened so quickly without Canada s involvement. The RCAF famously worked
with the RCN throughout the Battle of Britain, the attempt by the German war machine to destroy
Britain s Royal Air Force (RAF) and prepare for invasion after already conquering most of Europe,
including France, which was one of Canada s first campaigns during the first nine months or so of
war. Founded in 1924, the RCAF was the smallest of Canada s services when war broke out in 1939.
Attempts to expand and improve the force up until 1935 were futile, only growing from 569 to 1,031
personnel, just enough for the needs of war. The Second World War undoubtedly established an
aircraft industry and the progression of civil aviation formed a reserve of skilled pilots from a
developed training scheme established in Canada. The inauguration of the British Commonwealth Air
Training Plan (BCATP) took place, a strategy conceived by Prime Minister King to train pilots and
flight personnel in Canada, so that the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) would remain a safe
distance away from the fighting in Europe and North Africa. This allowed for contribution from the

Bullying And Its Effect On Schools
While bullying has occurred for many years, anti bullying programs in schools are having a strict
development. Bullying was not an important subject that was paid much attention in schools or
classrooms before 1999. When the Columbine and Virginia Tech shooting happened, schools did not
have any anti bullying programs. In 1999, schools started to implement anti bullying programs like
The Espelage Lab and Collaborator and many others. Unfortunately, bullying is still happening in
nowadays. Bullying tragedies are in nowadays active. One big example is the bullying tragic ending:

has demonstrated reductions in bullying and victimization, while it promoted students empathy toward
victimized peers and self efficacy to help them. The Kiva program has shown increases in school
liking and social motivation ( Salmivalli et al, 2013).
Emphasis on the Teacher
Teachers Roles Teachers can be seen as authority figures, and can stand up for behavioral norms in
classrooms (Veenstra, Lindenberg, Tinga, Ormell, 2010). When teachers are more involved in
preventing bullying and help to create a positive environment, students can feel confident to talk to the
teacher if there is a bullying problem (Veentra et al, 2014). Positive relationships between students and
teachers can help strengthen anti bullying norms (Veentra et al, 2014). Programs to support teachers
efficacy and attitudes are very important to help bullying victims in a classroom. Bullying incidents
mostly take place on the playground, hallways, lunchroom, and other place where teachers are not
around (Veenstra et al, 2014). Unfortunately, teachers are not able to support anti bullying norms
while they are not around (Atlas, Pepler, 1998). But still victims feel teachers are not able to protect
them, when teachers are around (Novick Isaacs, 2010).

Turtles belong to the class Reptilia, the subclass Anapsida, and the order Testudines (Le Buff 1990).
Reptiles have repeatedly invaded marine environments with varying success and marine adaptation
has been undertaken more than once in the history of the Cheloniidae family. Marine reptiles were
particularly successful in the Mesozoic as major predators in the sea. Mesozoic marine reptiles

Two lineages of sea turtle survived through the Eocene Epoch 55 to 38 millions years ago (Bowen
2003). One lineage was the predecessor of the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), the only

Cheloniidae, one of which is the loggerhead sea turtle (Bowen 2003). Today, only seven or eight
species of marine turtles survive, distributed unevenly through all three tropical oceans. The modern
decline in sea turtles species is not due to inherently poor adaption to post Pleistocene conditions, but
is mainly a result of current and past anthropogenic exploitation. Additionally, the greater diversity of
sea turtle taxa in the past compared to today is also due to the disappearance of entire isolated oceans
such as the Nirobrara Sea, which was once inhabited by a diversity of seat turtle species. It is also due
to other evolutionary mechanisms. Early sea turtle lineages had a growth of experimental type species
that were more specialized, and these eventually became narrowed down to modern species as
overspecialized species had a poor response to changing

The Party For Freedom And The Socialist Party
By definition, Nationalism is an ideology in which a group s recognition and espouse of their identity,
as a nation, is expressed based on a common origin, in addition to the desire to spread their global
influence. Through analysis of the Netherlands Party for Freedom (PVV) and the Netherlands
Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) alongside the World Values Survey, I will assess the values of
each party and compare their supporters through various variables in order to further examine
Nationalism. In comparison of the Party for Freedom and the Socialist Party, I will focus on the
country s answer toward the question: Which party would you vote for if there were a national
election tomorrow, as well as analyze the various demographics involved. The Netherlands is run
based upon a parliamentary representative democracy with both parties analyzed containing the same
number of seats within the parliament. Thus, both parties, despite having different worldviews, carry
similarities throughout the nationalistic views of the Dutch people. In order to inaugurate the analysis,
we must begin by determining the nationalistic views within the Netherlands and understand the basis
behind each party. The Party for freedom is a right wing nationalist party, while the Socialist Party is a
left wing social democratic party. Within the current politics of the Netherlands, both parties control
an equal number of seats with 15 being in the House of Representatives and 9 being within the

Application For The Cloud Service Provider
Applications in today s world consume resources on a wide variety of scale, one application could be
CPU based while another could be network based which mean each application would saturate a few
resources and under utilize a few. With cloud computing, Pay as you go enables you to pay only for
the utilized. For example, an application consumes only 50% of the processing power; you need not
pay for the entire set of machines and would only pay for the utilized rate and cloud providers offer
competitive prices today. To add to it operating costs like building space, power, cooling, maintenance
of servers and network will be on the cloud service provider. The installation, upgrades and patches
are easily done as cloud provider usually relies on virtual machines instead of physical equipment.
According to a study, in the year of 2000, 45% of IT budget was spent on capital expenditure whereas
only 6% of the resulting server capacity was utilized1. In this scenario, in the next couple of years the
cost of server maintenance would exceed the capital expenditure invested with very less utilization
ratio. Datacenters of large scales can reduce the economies and time of computing to a large extent
and also contribute to the Green IT initiative saving the environment. Cloud also offers potential
benefits like scalability where adding additional resources can be done in matter of hours and also
eliminates the need for huge capital expenditure which enables startups access to large

on children s and pre teens? The results may vary on the different children and types of technology,
some children might have far more screen time than a certain other, they might have a brighter screen
or it may vary on the children themselves they might have a condition that may worsen with the use of
technology. One of the effects on children and young teens is they don t get much exercise as they

Science in Nathaniel Hawthorne s Rappaccini s Daughter
The short story Rappaccini s Daughter can be seen as a love story about young man determined to be
with his beloved, despite the fact that she is poisonous. However, when examining the text, underlying
theme about science arise. During the time in which this piece was written, science was rapidly
evolving. All biological sciences must first go through a taxonomic stage since their data must be put
in order before they can be employed in research on an analytical level (Shryock 291) Rappaccini s

These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels about religion
can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the Garden of Eden. The story
contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the viewpoint of that time. The most significant
Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the use of science to
explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould is an important
tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such as racism and sexism. In
assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race we must first recognize the
cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and intellectuals did not doubt the propriety of racial
ranking with Indians below Whites and Blacks below every one (Gould 63) Rappaccini uses the
excuse that the world is dangerous to justify why her made his daughter poisonous. He fails to realize
that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice. Rappaccini myopically ignores the needs of others,
imposing his sense of things on the people who fall under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions
shows that he has a lack of morals. A second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have
dominion over nature Dr. Rappaccini is extremely talented botanist; he has

Introduction:
John Forbes Nash Jr. was born June 13, 1928 he is an American mathematician who works in game

mathematics professors heaped praise on him, his fellow students found him a very strange person.
Physically he was strong and this saved him from being bullied, but his fellow students took delight in
making fun of Nash who they saw as an awkward immature person displaying childish tantrums. He
showed homosexual tendencies, climbing into bed with the other boys who reacted by making fun of
the fact that he was attracted to boys and humiliated him. They played cruel pranks on him and he
reacted by asking his fellow students to challenge him with mathematics problems. He ended up doing

Theme Of A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, written in 1941, is a short story about an elder, Negro woman, Phoenix
Jackson, traveling along a well worn path to an unknown destination. As the title suggests, this is a
path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person
would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love.
Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a
person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the
theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary
bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. Jones writes,
The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a comparison with the
legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The
reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader
concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a
reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the
journey is a representation of being reborn.
Welty s diction and the time period that the short story was written also gives the reader context into
Phoenix s endurance of the wrath of society. Phoenix is described as an

The Statue Of Liberty At Ellis Island
America is a melting pot of culture. The statue of liberty at Ellis Island has welcomed hundreds of
thousands of immigrants into this country since the early 1900s. Although the immigrant families
knew it was important to learn the American language and American culture, they also wanted to keep
alive their rich heritage and pass it onto their children. This was often a struggle as their children
attended American schools and picked up on the American culture ways quicker than their elder
parents. Often these children, especially the teenagers, would struggle with embarrassment over the
ways their family was different from other American families. One author who wrote about this

This was what inspired her to write stories about the relationships between Chinese women and their
Chinese American daughters. In the narrative Fish Cheeks , Amy Tan shares a story of young love
which reveals the conflict of shame and pride that she felt about her Chinese heritage.
The narrative begins by telling how a young Chinese girl has a crush on the minister s son, Robert
who is American. When the daughter finds out her parents have invited the minister and his family
over to eat, she starts to panic. All she could think was, What would Robert think of our shabby
Chinese Christmas? What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American
manners? What terrible disappointment would he feel upon seeing not a roasted turkey and sweet

Mary Wollstonecraft s The Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman
Mary Wollstonecraft s fought for equity for women and was especially passionate about educating
women. In her readings, there has been numerous of topics she had raised and one of the most stood
out topic for me was her judgement towards education for females. This part of the aspect has brought
to my attention that it needs further discussion with my peer to discuss how some of Wollstonecraft s
judgement relevant to the lives of women today.
Wollstonecraft was born in London and is second of seven sibling in her family. In her readings, it
showed that she was a very intelligent and talented women who strive for success. During her life
stage, she had plenty of struggles with every aspect of her live but that did not stop her from being a
writer, philosopher or even an activist. One of the main key point Wollstonecraft raised was how girls
should be educated, she believed she was a great educational thinker and could help women to fight
for equal rights. In the Vindication of the rights of woman that Wollstonecraft published, she argued
that in order for women to develop morally, boys and girls should be educated together with the same
subjects. Girls should be taught how to reason and be given more to think other than how they dress

neon Essay
Did you know that neon is a Greek word that means quot;new quot;? Neon is the element that I am
most interested in. I chose to do neon because I found out what many uses it has in our daily life.
Neon is the element that allows you to watch TV. Without neon we would never see the cool flashing
signs outside of diners and bars. In my essay I am going to tell you about neon and its many uses.
First, I m going to tell you about the history and uses of neon. Neon was discovered by Sir William
Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English chemist, shortly after their discovery
of the element krypton in 1898. Neon is one of the most amusing elements used today. Neon mixed
with some other elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neon is found in the atmosphere. Neon is 0.002% of the atmosphere. Also, stars produce neon during
the later stages of nuclear fusion.
All there is to talk about neon now is about how it integrates into our life. To show you the integration
in our society I will demonstrate a situation in which neon comes into play. Imagine walking around in
Las Vegas with your friends looking to have a good time before your business meeting the next day.
You look up and see giant signs that flash and move around advertising casinos and restaurants. Those
signs are discharge tubes holding the active ingredients of our friend neon and his buddy mercury. You
decide to walk into the casino with the biggest, coolest sign that says quot;MGM quot;. You walk into
the casino wondering what to do first, so you walk over to the nearest craps table. You play craps for a
couple hours and decide to cash in and go out to eat with all the money you won. You walk into a
sports bar to get a drink and you notice a TV with the Lakers game on. You look up at the TV and
notice they are losing 84 to 36. The television has a tube in it that holds neon to project things onto the
glass screen you see, without neon you wouldn t be able to watch any of your favorite shows. When
you are finished eating your friends ask if you want to go to the Smithsonian observation museum
about 10 miles away from downtown Las Vegas. You agree and pile into your rented Mercedes Benz
SRX. As your driving on the

To Further Understand The Text One Must Know The Literary
To further understand the text one must know the literary devices present in The Lottery. In the short
story The Lottery there is a theme of tradition. The citizens all blindly followed the tradition of the
lottery while barely remembering its origin or reasoning. Each year the town came together to have its
lottery. It was said that the lottery was done each year so that they would have good crops but many of
the citizens had forgotten its purpose.
While waiting for the ceremony to begin the children picked stones and the adults chatted nervously.
Mrs. Tessie Hutchinson, the protagonist, arrived late which foreshadowed her bad luck to come. Mr.
Summers was the man in charge of the lottery. He brought the same black wooden box each year ...

I Clearly Remember My Last Moment As An Undergraduate...
I clearly remember my last moment as an undergraduate student. I had just finished my last exam for
the semester, and as I checked back over my test I reflected on my college experience. In just 7
semesters I had attended 4 different colleges, lived in 4 different cities, had 9 different jobs, took a
semester off for a competitive internship, and still managed to graduate a semester early. But of
course, it s kind of a long story.
Throughout high school my family always supported me and encouraged me to do my best, but never
pushed me to strive for a college education. I knew I wanted to go to college, but I was uncertain and
scared of the process. As a junior I applied to Chicago Scholars whose mission it was to help
minorities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before the rug had been pulled on my U of I plans, I had applied to the competitive Disney College
Program in Florida. I learned of my acceptance at the perfect time, and committed to spend the next
semester in Florida. This was a great opportunity for me to network with some of the most ambitious
college students from around the world while I learned a lot.
While my internship with Disney provided me with the opportunity to transition to whatever was next,
it unfortunately did nothing to help my financial situation, and I found myself back at home. Living
with my dad in Chicago I worked 60 70 hours a week and completed 22 credit hours at my local
community college. During this time I pushed myself to not let circumstances hold me back and
decided to be relentless in chasing my goals. Despite taking a semester off for Disney, I received my
Associates degree on time. At a college fair, I learned about Loras College and prepared to continue
my BA at Loras in Dubuque, IA.
I started at Loras in Fall of 2014 and eagerly threw myself into the academia and school involvement
that I had been desperate for since U of I. After arriving in Iowa, I became involved with Dr. Julia
Omarzu s research team, worked part time at a Jimmy Johns and the school Library, volunteered in
Dubuque elementary schools, worked as a math tutor in a high school, did trail maintenance for a
nature preserve, and crocheted and donated baby

The Influence of Internet Addiction Have you been though things such as you open up your laptop to

Individuals start to enjoy the feelings brought up by the internet and fall into it deeply. When they
realize where they are and want to get their life back to the real life, usually they will find hard times
doing so. Moreover, researches show the majority of people who consume internet addiction the
young generation, especially college students. The reason is young generations use internet more often
than the older generations do, especially for college students, their life are filled up with social media s
like Instagram, snapchat, Facebook, etc. They cannot be communicated or in other words, accepted by
their peers if they do not use internet quite often. In doing so, internet addiction definitely makes a
difference in terms of social media use. Addictive use of the Internet may be vary and it has impacts
on several aspects such as online affairs, student internet abuse, and employee internet abuse. Online
chat rooms and other social medias might impact individuals in ways such as marriages, health
conditions, and personalities. New areas of research identify users who became hooked on online chat
rooms, instant messaging, interactive games, and even eBay only to see their lives become
increasingly unmanageable because of the Internet (e.g., Morahan Martin, 1997; Scherer, 1997;
Young, 1996). Moreover, information on the Internet is too disorganized and unrelated to school
curriculum to help students and can even serve as a

Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Intervention
Mr. Harry Bright has undergone a procedure called percutaneous transluminal coronary intervention
(PTCI) via femoral approach for the treatment of his progressive unstable angina. Femoral artery is
the most common access site used for PCI because of its size and its direct passageway to the heart
(Young, 2014 p.431; Cosman, Arthur, Bryant Lukosius, Strachan, 2015 p.180). In this procedure, a
cardiac catheter followed by a stent is inserted to the artery to dilate the occluded blood vessel and
improve blood flow (Young, 2014 p.430). The occlusive atherosclerotic plaque are usually associated
with Mr. Bright s diabetes, hypetension and smoking history. Contrary to the positive effect of PTCI,
bleeding and hematoma formation are the most typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No further data was mentioned apart from minimal oozing. This led to the understanding that because
angioplasty is an invasive procedure it is vital to perform a thorough assessment on the wound site to
check for signs of bleeding and infection. As cited by Benbow (2016 para.1) in her article, an accurate
wound assessment would yield to the delivery of effective nursing management and prevention of
impending health issues. Moreover, she also mentioned in her paper that comorbidities such as
diabetes, smoking, and ageing would slow down the healing process (para.4). These comorbidities are
well presented in Mr. Bright s history. This study is further augmented by an evaluation research
headed by Greatrex White and Moxley (2013 p.295 296) wherein they enumerated a criteria necessary
for wound assessment. In their research, the wound assessmet tool comprises of the following: details
and characteristics, wound measurement using, tissue type, exudate, pain, signs of infection, and
surrounding skin. Furthermore, since hematoma formation, a benchmark of wound assessment tends
to occur after patient is discharged, educating him and his significant other how to measure his
hematoma is significant. Cosman et. al. (2015 p.182 183) proposed different methods of measuring
hematoma. A general method described includes the precise measurement of length and width of the

Grapes of Wrath Ch. 5 8 Analysis
Ch.5
Theme: A theme found in this chapter is The Monster, or to be more exact, human control. The
Monster is the bank, as it takes the money away from all the people. The bank has a power over the
people, as they are desperate just to clear their debt fro m the bank. It is as though it is a monster,
forcing the people to do whatever is possible, from stealing to scavenging, just to help with the debt.
Some are forced to leave their lands and travel to California, where it is said to have jobs, so the
people have to raise money for the trip. Humans lose control of their own lives, and have to do
unorthodox things to help their lives. They are controlled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They see the truck and believe that the smoke from their fire set them off. Joad believes that the
superintendent will not do much, as they are not doing anything, but Muley knows that he will,
because they are trespassing on the land, and even that is enough for the superintendent to kill them.
We re doin somepin jus bein here. We re trespassin (77). The superintendent basically hunts
trespassers, and Muley knows, as he becomes the hunted, and also becomes a run an hide fella (78). It
gets more dramatic as there are only two options for Joad and Casy, especially since the deputy has a
gun, he either got to kill you or you got to get his gun away an kill him (79). It situation becomes
extreme especially with the possibility of death, but luckily there are able to scathe off the deputy.

Theme: A theme for this chapter is deception. It takes about the car owners, and what they did to make
a huge profit. Many people, due to the great depression, and hearing of news of opportunity in
California, had wanted to travel, since any hope of being successful, if you weren t already, was slim
in these parts of the country. To travel they would need a car to help them get to California.

Katy Perry s Song Firework
Three minutes, that is the average length of most popular songs that are available today. Three minutes
is all it takes to send a message and have it resonate with its intended audience. All songs are written
to have a meaning, but many listeners rarely analyze the lyrics to understand what the meaning really
is. Unlike the article 17 Things You Should Do If You Are Struggling With Self Love , song lyrics are
purposefully written in an indirect way so that the meaning is almost hidden from the audience. The
messages in the article tend to be easier to identify since many people tend to analyze written material
rather than songs. Katy Perry s song Firework is an inspirational song that highlights the meaning of

entertainment. Compared to an online article, this message we are trying to get across is hidden in our
lyrics but our purpose still remains to remind people that you are not alone. Like the song Firework ,
we want many people to hear this song, not just a select audience. We plan on conveying emotion with
specific artwork and music videos that everyone will

The websites, blogs, the electronic health record are all jam packed with information. Posts from Facebook, tweets from twitters, interactive websites are a rich source of information. If one can imagine, information has as much as widespread as the universe. However, what happens to the heap of information generated? The integration of all available information has resulted in Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS). The Assassination Of Benazir Bhutto Syed Muhammad M Jafri COMM 100W Spring 16 03/15/2016 Benazir Bhutto It was night of December 27, 2007, before my ninth grade final exam, I was in a tutoring center when we heard many gunshots outside; it wasn t just one person who was shooting in the air but several. We were frightened for our lives, as they started approaching the stores and small shops to shut them down forcefully. The cell phone signals were jammed, and we were unable to contact our parents. After about half an hour, we heard on in the news that the ex Prime minister and chairperson of one of the political party (Pakistan People s Party) of Pakistan was assassinated. Benazir Bhutto was a daughter of ex prime minister and a woman with many qualities; she was a Harvard and Oxford graduate, a well known political figure and the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto was the eldest daughter of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Benazir Bhutto was born on June 21, 1953. She became the 11th Prime Minster of Pakistan in 1988 1990 after Pakistan People s Party won the elections. Benazir Bhutto s father was a man who was highly educated and very modern. His daughter followed his footsteps to promote the education level for men and women in Pakistan. Bhutto was physically brave beyond comprehension. She had a commanding personality, was extremely intelligent and well read (Ispahani, Huffington post). She was already studying at Radcliffe College at Harvard University in 1969, at ... • 5. Disadvantages Of Code Switching As the globalization of world economies, cultures, and peoples continue to increase, it is inevitable that languages also follow. In the present day, it is nearly safe to say that there are no nations in the world that are homogeneously monolingual. With the knowledge of two or more language varieties, comes the ability for bilinguals or multilinguals to move between two or more varieties within a single interaction. This phenomenon is known as code switching (CS). It should be noted that CS is different from style shifting and other language contact phenomena because the varieties being used are distinct it s one variety or the other at one time. Such shifts may occur at any level of linguistic structure, whether it be within a single paragraph, sentence, clause, or word. The places where CS occurs can be categorized into four subtypes: intrasentential switching (within a sentence), intersentential switching (between sentences), tag switching (tag phrases in a different code from the rest of the sentence), and intra word switching (within a word). Each category has drawn significant attention from the sociolinguistic community, but the reasons for the occurrence of CS within the confines of a sentence (intrasentential) has attracted the most academic interest. It is not at anytime that varieties can be combined intra sententially. There are a number of compatibility problems that could emerge such as different word orders, grammatical structures, categorization patterns, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of these systems should be researched and compared on their functionality so the most suitable technologies can be implemented into the daily activities of the restaurant. The POS will contain a register for purchases, have the ability to track reports and menu maintenance, improve service speed, and enhance customer service. To increase service speed, the POS efficiently makes order entries that are then transferred to the kitchen. This results in fewer mistakes and the ability to track ticket and wait times. The system also has the function of splitting checks and makes card processing simple. This ensures more seat turnover and shorter wait times for the customers. In return this has the potential to increase revenue at every service. POS can create loyalty programs that ensure repeat customers and generate more sales of gift cards. POS provides operational control that analyzes detailed reports to drill down on sales, server and restaurant performance (NCR 2013). A software like ALOHA also provides a training interface that allows new employees to learn the system quickly. This reduces the cost a restaurant would ultimately have to pay on training new employees. The ALOHA system is very up to date with new technology trends, providing mobile and digital signage and cloud based solutions and social technologies. Children can also learn by matching up the numbers that are called. Alfred Mosher Butts was the first person to invent Scrabble during the great depression of the 1930 s. It was initially named Lexico, and also called Criss Cross. It was not made with a board incorporated to start off with, but played without any type of board. He studied the use of words, and discovered how certain letters were used more often than other letters. He then proceeded to put scores on each letter, and the first board was made of paper. At first the game didn t sell very well, but James Brunot popularized the game when he took an interest, in 1947. Burnot took over the making of the game, and managed to sell about 2000 sets in his first year of production. The board was originally made from paper, and written on with pen. Eventually, the tiles were made from wood with the letters engraved on them. However, people began to cheat as they were able to feel the letters they were picking out, so the letters were changed to plastic material instead. The game didn t really have much sales until 1952 when the owner of Macy s decided to invest in the sales of the game. He had played Scrabble while on vacation, and thought it would be good for his business to sell the game in his stores. • 9. Duality In Edgar Allan Poe s Poetry Stallings 4 Poetic Principle and The Rationale of Verse. He also produced the thrilling tale, The Cask of Amontillado, and poems such as Ulalume and The Bells. Most of Poe s work is concerned with terror and sadness, but in normal circumstances the poet was a pleasant companion. The way Poe talked was so mysterious and dark, therefore Edgar Allan Poe talked brilliantly, and with so much emotional and passion in his poems. Even when he does not hurl his characters into the clutch of mysterious forces or onto the untrodden paths of the beyond, he uses the anguish of imminent death as the means of causing the nerves to quiver ( The Pit and the Pendulum ), and his grotesque invention deals with corpses and decay in an uncanny play with the aftermath of death. He was capable of writing angelic or weird poetry, with a supreme sense of rhythm and word appeal, or prose of sumptuous beauty and suggestiveness, with the apparent abandon of compelling inspiration; yet he would write down a problem of morbid psychology or the outlines of an unrelenting plot in a hard and dry style. In Poe s masterpieces the double contents of his temper, of his mind, and of his art are fused into a oneness of tone, structure, and movement, the more effective, perhaps, as it is compounded of various elements. As a critic, Poe laid great stress upon correctness of language, metre, and structure. He formulated rules for the short story, in which he sought the ancient unities the short story should relate a complete action and take place within one day in one place. To these unities he added that of mood or effect. He was not extreme in these views, however. He praised longer works and sometimes thought allegories and morals admirable if not crudely presented. • 12. Socrates Worldview Of Socrates Part 1: Socrates Worldview Socrates is a widely renowned teacher, who has taught and demonstrated a variety of lessons that regard how he views the world. Socrates has described his view on morality, purpose, death, and the ultimate. He has spoken about these views through multiple texts including The Last Days of Socrates and they have been interpreted through the text Socrates by George Rudebusch. Through these worldviews, Socrates has given people the opportunity to expand their wisdom and question the world around them. Purpose Socrates found his purpose through oracles and dreams by a divine power, ...since I was trying to find out the meaning of the oracle, I was bound to interview everyone who had a reputation for knowledge. (Apology 22a), from the oracle of Apollo, Socrates believed that his purpose was to philosophize. Socrates would question reputable wise men and try to prove the oracle that he (Socrates) was not the wisest man. After interviewing men with a high reputation, Socrates began to expose them for their ignorance and their deficiency. He also determined that his wisdom was of no value, yet he was the wisest mortal. He also established that there are three levels of wisdom; real wisdom (the highest), being wisest among men (the middle), not being wise, but seeming wise, especially to oneself (the lowest). Even after establishing his purpose and proving the oracle, he felt as if he should still philosophize (Mission from God, pg. 20). • 13. Case Study Of Tyco s Case 2008). In September 2002, Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170 million dollars from Tyco and swindling $430 million in the sale of company shares. Tyco s former chief corporate counsel Mark A. Belnick was also found to have forged business records to hide over $14 million dollars that he received in company loans (Timeline of the Tyco International scandal, 2005). The first trial began in October 2003, which was declared a mistrial in April 2004, because a juror said she received a letter pressurizing her to convict Kozlowski and Swartz. The second trial began in January 2005 and ended in June 2005, with Kozlowski and Swartz found guilty and in a separate trial, Belnick was freed of all charges against him (Timeline of the Tyco International scandal, 2005). The spending and loans were able to go on for so long because of Kozlowski s unethical leadership style. However, Kozlowski felt right and content about his doings and continued to do so. • 14. Why Do Jewish Women Join Partisan Groups Jewish women fighting within the partisan groups faced an uphill battle in their attempt to gain respect and find their place within the group. Being both Jewish and women, just gaining access into the group was difficult but then once they were in, they faced being bound by traditional feminine role and the threat of sexual abuse. Many partisan women though, did not let racism, and sexism define them and proved themselves valuable through their work ethics, skills, and strength. Through several stories we have learned about, we can see the heroism that these women showed and how they broke away from the traditional roles that women were expected to play, shattering the stereotypes that were put on them. These women survived not only being a partisan but also the evil twins of anti Semitic and sexual violence (JPEF1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Jewish women did not join the partisans out of fear, and felt that their role was to remain loyal to their family, even if that meant death, and many men agreed with this. We see this with Meyer Orbuch who refused to take his sister into his partisan group saying, no girls can go with us. Only boys can go (JPEF2). So the women that did join partisans were already breaking free of the traditional roles that many people felt they should be playing as women. Women that joined the partisans wanted to live, and to avenge the humiliation that had been thrown upon them and their families. Canada s Role In Ww2 In the final two years of the Second World War, Canadian operations was astonishing from the simple growth and expansion of the RCN, working alongside Britain to engage in and manage convoy protection. Canada s naval contribution was essential over U Boat attacks on shipping, and because of such undertakings, Canadian naval officers conducted an ultimately successful campaign to have Canada s efforts in the Battle of the Atlantic acknowledged by the creation of an independent Canadian command in the northwest Atlantic. Approximately 153,000 flight personnel were trained out of a total of 239,761 that were engaged in British and Commonwealth flying operations, a pivotal choice in gaining air superiority victory over the sky would never have happened so quickly without Canada s involvement. The RCAF famously worked with the RCN throughout the Battle of Britain, the attempt by the German war machine to destroy Britain s Royal Air Force (RAF) and prepare for invasion after already conquering most of Europe, including France, which was one of Canada s first campaigns during the first nine months or so of war. Founded in 1924, the RCAF was the smallest of Canada s services when war broke out in 1939. Attempts to expand and improve the force up until 1935 were futile, only growing from 569 to 1,031 personnel, just enough for the needs of war. The Second World War undoubtedly established an aircraft industry and the progression of civil aviation formed a reserve of skilled pilots from a developed training scheme established in Canada. The inauguration of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP) took place, a strategy conceived by Prime Minister King to train pilots and flight personnel in Canada, so that the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) would remain a safe distance away from the fighting in Europe and North Africa. Today, only seven or eight species of marine turtles survive, distributed unevenly through all three tropical oceans. The modern decline in sea turtles species is not due to inherently poor adaption to post Pleistocene conditions, but is mainly a result of current and past anthropogenic exploitation. Additionally, the greater diversity of sea turtle taxa in the past compared to today is also due to the disappearance of entire isolated oceans such as the Nirobrara Sea, which was once inhabited by a diversity of seat turtle species. It is also due to other evolutionary mechanisms. Gilman and Chopin in their short stories how the male dominated society used power to imprison, oppresses, silences, and encourages submissiveness among married women. The freedom for a woman to speak, think, act and contribute to decision making in her marriage contributes to the fight for equality between men and women. The short story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman illustrates the struggle faced by women who seek freedom from oppression. Gilman reveals in this short story how the narrator feels oppressed by her husband despite her love for writing by stating, He hates to have me write a word (218). This was often a struggle as their children attended American schools and picked up on the American culture ways quicker than their elder parents. This was what inspired her to write stories about the relationships between Chinese women and their Chinese American daughters. In the narrative Fish Cheeks , Amy Tan shares a story of young love which reveals the conflict of shame and pride that she felt about her Chinese heritage. The narrative begins by telling how a young Chinese girl has a crush on the minister s son, Robert who is American. When the daughter finds out her parents have invited the minister and his family over to eat, she starts to panic. All she could think was, What would Robert think of our shabby Chinese Christmas? What would he think of our noisy Chinese relatives who lacked proper American manners? What terrible disappointment would he feel upon seeing not a roasted turkey and sweet potatoes but Chinese food? Here is where Amy Tan first hints at the shame she has about her culture. She was already embarrassed before the dinner even happened. Tan continues to provide a vivid image of the special meal her mother has prepared. For example she describes the fish as a slimy rock cod with bulging eyes , and she makes the fish seem almost human as it pleads not to be dropped into the hot oil. Tan uses a simile to describe the tofu. Tofu, which looked like stacked wedges of rubbery white sponges.
