Harley Davidson International Management
I. Summary of the case study Harley Davidson – rockers idol
So, this case study is about Harley Davidson, a brand of motorcycles and more precisely about its
development since his foundation in 1903 by 21 year old William S. Harley and 20 year old Arthur
Davidson.
So, in 2003, it was the celebration of the 100th birthday of the Harley Davidson. And, in order to
commemorate it, fans of this famous brand rode until Milwaukee to see the parade of 10 000 Harley
Davidson motorcycles. Through this celebration, we can see how recognized this brand is for the
owners, or should I say fans. Indeed, this case also shows how the strategy and the marketing of
Harley Davidson are good; because Harley has fans and they will do all they can for ... Show more

The main interest of this group is to ensure members to know each other, and become a second family
who share the same interests, wills, and thoughts. And this strategy ensures Harley Davidson to
maintain a strong relationship with its customers, and thus a strong brand name all over the world.
According to customers, the owners of H D say that this brand understand them and their needs, and
also that they are always there if a problem appears. These remarks can be linked with Harley
Davidson s values. Indeed, according to H D Our values are the heart of how we run our business.
They guide our actions and serve as the framework for the decisions and contributions our employees
make at every level of the Company. (www.harleydavidson.com); these values are:
Be Fair
Tell the Truth
Keep Your Promises
Respect the Individual
Encourage Intellectual Curiosity
We can also link this strategy with the mission statement of Harley Davidson:
We fulfill dreams through the experience of motorcycling by providing to motorcyclists and to the
general public an expanding line of motorcycles and branded products and services in selected market
segments

The Strike Of Foodservice Workers At Unc Chapel Hill
The 1969 strike of foodservice workers at UNC Chapel Hill was a labor dispute involving lunch
ladies, less than 20 women of color, working in a college cafeteria serving the large student
population. This unlikely group of women and their labor dispute had a much more important effect
on the larger perspective of not only work conditions and wages for women and African Americans,
but the macro level of civil rights on college campuses in the south during the civil rights movement.
The efforts of the women and Black Student Movement to fight for fair pay, We will also look at the
impact this labor dispute had for not only the college campus but also the entire state of North
Carolina and the nation at large. Not only geographically, we will also examine the effect this
foodservice strike has had on the fast food industry presently and labor relations for the Fight for 15
movement. The Lenoir Dining Hall at UNC Chapel Hill served food to some 1700 students and
faculty a day. The lunch ladies managing the cafeteria worked through long hours, short wages and
degrading work conditions. Food service was tough enough for college lunch ladies because students
and faculty did not typically regard the non faculty employees with much respect or recognition. This
lack of respect or recognition was amplified by high racial tensions of the civil rights era and the
reality that most non faculty employees were African American.
Not only were the work conditions underappreciated by the

Motorola, Inc.
Motorola, Inc has encountered significant financial loss over the past decade. Although, they have
made several strategic changes during this time, they have not been able to restore the company to its
previous financially stable operation. By doing a SWOT analysis, Motorola may be able to develop a
strategy to boost the company s performance. Regardless of what strategy is incorporated, it must be
able to return the firm to profitability.
Motorola s external environment has a large impact on its opportunities and threats. The threat that is
impacting Motorola the most is new competitors based in different locations worldwide. These

The disadvantage to cutting costs is the 3,000 jobs that will be eliminated.
The spinoff of the Mobile Devices segment that was postponed will be a huge advantage to the main
corporation. However, the segment may not make it as an independent company, especially since it is
already failing due to 2008 s economical downturn. If the company can divide and become two
industry leading companies, as Greg Brown stated, the advantages will include increased flexibility,
more target investment opportunities, focused management and increased tailored capital structures
(Hitt, Hoskisson, amp; Ireland, 2011).
Investing WiMax technology was a strategic investment for Motorola. If the wireless technology takes
off, it may give Motorola the push that it needs to get ahead. Unfortunately, if the technology fails,
Motorola may not recover from their losses. The advantages and disadvantages are complete opposites
in this situation.
Strategic issues can be resolved by changing the design of the company s organizational structure and
strategies. Flawe3d strategies do not help the company with profitability. Motorola may be able to
balance the company if they update everything from style of management to their research and
development team. Another option would be to bring in a specialist to analyze the company s structure
and make recommendations. A cheaper alternative to a specialist would be to hire new people so that
fresh new ideas are integrated into the company. Any changes

The Petrodollar System
From the Gold Standard
To Black Gold
By: Gibson J.T.
Intro
Behind the global power of the U.S. dollar, hides the most significant form of currency you ve
probably never heard of, the Petrodollar. The word Petrodollar was coined by the Egyptian economist
Ibrahim Oweiss, as a way to describe how oil producing and exporting countries were accounting for
oil units outside of the regular money supply. While the Petrodollar may not be a commonly used
term, I would agree with Economist Jerry Robinson when describing it as, the most brilliant [series of]
political economic moves in recent history... [being] the fabric that holds our [U.S.] economy together
. As the major cornerstone for the U.S. S economic prosperity and international hegemony, following
the change of the Bretton Woods System to the Petrodollar system in 1971; I ve found the largest
independent factor to influence American international interests has been the implementation and
preservation of the Petrodollar.
Petroleum politics have been an increasingly important aspect of diplomacy since the rise of the
Petroleum industry in the middle east in the early 20th century.

Clinical Definition Of A Hallucination
The clinical definition of a hallucination is; a perception of something (as a visual image or sound)
with no external cause usually arising from a disorder of the nervous system (as in delirium tremens or
in functional psychosis without known neurological disease) or in response to drugs (dictionary,
merriam). A hallucination may be a sensory experience in which a person can see, hear, smell, taste, or
feel something that is not there.
Hallucinations can be triggered by many different factors; for instance, certain medicines that doctors
will prescribe for people dealing with Parkinson s disease, depression, psychosis, and epilepsy can
have side effects such as hallucinations. Just because there is a dictionary term for what a
hallucination is, does and how it affects someone does not always mean that it is always an accurate
definition. There is no way to describe a typical hallucination. These experiences vary considerably in
length of time, quality, and sense or senses affected. Some hallucinations only last a few seconds;
however some people that have been diagnosed with Charles Bonnet Syndrome have reported their
hallucinations lasting over the span of several days (Gale). People who have taken certain drugs have
experienced hallucinations lasting over several days. Albert Hoffman, a swiss chemist, first

There have been many different hypothesis that have suggested the explanation of visual
hallucinations. This particular type of hallucination can be a result of three processes:
psychophysiological (i.e., as a disturbance of brain structure), psychobiochemical (as a disturbance of
neurotransmitters) and psychodynamic (as an emergence of the unconscious into consciousness)
(visual hallucinations). However, since these hypothesis have been presented none of them have given
a solid basis on what causes visual hallucinations or how to prevent them from

Importance Of Being At The Right Place
Being at the right time at the right place: How to benefit financially?
By some estimates, the total number of human beings that have ever lived is about 110 billion, of
which approximately 7% are alive today. The world population keeps growing every year, so,
statistically, you might say more humans have a chance of being at the right place at the right time
than at any given time before, right? Yes and, uh, no. Statistics and big numbers have a powerful way
of suggesting the wrong answer. Merely because more people play the lottery certainly does not mean
your chance to win increases; only the total amount the winner will take away increases. That is of
course unless we change the rules of the game itself. So, what does it ... Show more content on

You might have heard of him. Andrew saw a huge opportunity while working for the railroads,
expanding tracks West and South from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rail tracks and bridges were
needed in great numbers all the way to the West Coast. A new, much more efficient process to make a
stronger iron had just been invented by Henry Bessemer in the United Kingdom and Andrew Carnegie
saw an enormous opportunity in making this new iron called steel from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
close to the iron ore mines and rivers for easy transport. But, the most important factor in deciding to
start this business was a law adopted in 1870 supported by the Republican Party, which had the
presidency and a majority in Congress. The law was a $28 tariff on imported steel, basically taking out
the British competition in one stroke. The tariff was upheld for a good 30 years. You may or may not
favor laws like this one, but it is beside the point: it was a Ka Ching moment for Andrew and the other
eight steel companies in the United States. They essentially got a license to print cash for themselves.
Their timing was right. The rest is history. Andrew Carnegie went on to become one of the wealthiest
men ever... only to give it all back to Society. The thinking behind his philanthropy was that he had
been given a huge opportunity, largely by the good fortune of being at the right time and the right
place. Of course, there is more to it than

Federal Preemption Should Be Easily Decided
David Gorhan
MBA 610 Business Law
Final Paper: Federal Preemption
January 25, 2015
Cases about federal preemption should be easily decided. The basis of the concept is written clearly in
the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution. Article VI, Paragraph 2 states:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all
treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme
law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or
laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding. (Cornell University Law School, n.d.)
Essentially, the Supremacy Clause states that the laws promulgated by the U.S. government take
priority over any laws that the individual states have enacted. The forefathers of the United States
understood that while some issues should be under the states discretion, others have more of a national
concern. Based on the Supremacy Clause, states are prohibited from passing laws that are inconsistent
with federal law. In turn state constitutions have also inserted Supremacy Clauses in their own
constitutions that prohibit the municipalities from enacting laws that are inconsistent with state laws.
However obvious and simple this concept sounds, the Supreme Court of the U.S. (SCOTUS) has seen
over twelve cases in the last five years concerning federal preemption and the balance between state
and federal power and

Foreign Aid For Economic And Humanitarian Development...
Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian
development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the initiation
of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an improvement in the
economic standing in the region from both the international community and majority of the
Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied Gaza Strip and West
Bank has in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo Accords. Although there
have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been far more long term and
complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United States, were not able to
effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian economy. The inability of
the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian development within Palestine is the
result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and blockades, the unintentional
implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and political patronage.
Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian assistance
to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military occupation and
blockades in the occupied West Bank. Palestine has been allocated approximately $5 billion in U.S.

I am sure that I will observe these changes also. As the students change, whether it is in a positive or
negative manner, teachers need to adapt to these changes. Teachers that are around the age of
retirement seem to have a hard time making these adaptations. My experiences have revealed
problems with teachers that have taught the same information to students in the same fashion that they
taught it to their parents and occasionally to their grandparents. As students change, teachers need to
have the flexibility needed to adapt to the students needs. Students today are much different than they
were twenty or thirty years ago, so teachers need to recognize this and help the students by changing
their teaching techniques, classroom management, and the amount of training they receive, whether it
is required or voluntary.
Going to school has a much more complex purpose than just going to learn things, making your
parents happy, earning good grades, or qualifying for better jobs. While in school, students are taught
about culture and values and are taught how to act in society. In the United States, students learn about
their own culture and heritage in U.S. History classes. Without this, how would anyone know where
we came from as Americans or what we stand for?

The Three Types of Annoying Shoppers
Tires squeal across the hot asphalt; exhaust fumes fill the air. Innocent shoppers leap to safety as cars

Adrenaline rushing. The driver s sole mission is to obtain a white lined rectangle of pavement before

of tabloids to read are necessary when shopping behind Suburban Sally.
In comparison to her absent minded habits, Picky Pete, the third type of annoying shopper, appears

The Chemical Traces Of A Beer And The Artist Of Its...
Humans have been trying to get a buzz for centuries. Molecular archeologist Patrick McGovern
believes fermentation of yeast was discovered nearly 9,000 years ago after he uncovered chemical
traces of a fermented beverage found seeped into the porous clay of ancient pottery. It is safe to say
that the brewing industry is as old as civilization itself and over time humans have been able to be
creative with the process and produce variations of beer recipes. Drinking a beer can be defined as an
experience involving the presentation of its storage along with the beverage itself. Consumers can

The wort is then brought to a boil, only recent in todays world, and hops are introduced where they
can break down and add different flavoring to the beer by releasing oils. The wort cools down and
yeast is then added for fermentation to begin. The yeast breaks down the sugars from the mash and
releases alcohol and carbon dioxide into the mixture. At this point in the brewing process, brewer can
decide to brew an ale or a lager, and choose the correct yeast according to that decision. As the yeast
finishes up its job, it begins to settle at the bottom of the fermentation vessel, leaving the final beer
product (Quinn).

Since the beginning of fermentation history, potters and brewers have been linked by the beer market.
Beer is a product of water, malt, and yeast and fermentation. Fermentation is fundamental in brewing
because it gives beer its carbonation and alcohol content, so it is no wonder people began creating
vessels, or amphorae, with a functional use suited for this chemical reaction. In Figure 1, amphorae
that are shown generally had a specific shape with a tall narrow body and cylindrical neck, enabling
beer to ferment due to yeast breaking down sugar into alcohol in a cyclical movement inside
(Cartwright, 2013). Both artists felt the impact of globalization in pre modern period with two major
inventions: the wheel and writing. Writing helped with communication between far away places and

Herbert Bayer Research Paper
Haag, Austria. April 5th, 1900 Herbert Bayer is born to Rosa Simmer Bayer and Maximilian Bayer.
Although the village that he was raised in was mainly filled with peasants, his mother and her family
owned a local hotel, known as the Gasthaus and Herbert s father was a tax collector in the area. Being
the second son of four total children meant that a young Herbert Bayer was shy and withheld.
Although the relationship between parent and son was somewhat distant, his mother and father
supported his early interests in design, which included frequently drawing the surrounding landscape
around where the Bayer family lived. Twelve years after Herbert was born, his family moved from
Haag to Linz where he was able to attend the Gymnasium.
Once he finished his educational studies, Herbert had planned to move and study in Vienna, which
ended up being put aside as his father unexpectedly passed away in 1917. With no money for travel or
education, he found himself serving for 18 months in the Fourteenth Infantry Regiment of the Imperial

Throughout Bayer s life, he was able to take intricate and detailed images and break them down into
simplistic shapes, which was his main calling card. However, for the most part, he was almost always
influenced by someone else and had very few pieces that he had created solely from his own
imagination, which was the only downfall in his road to success. It has been said that two exhibitions
held in 1942 signalled the peak of his creative flow and also, unfortunately, the spiralling downfall of
his career. It would be very hard for an Austrian to become successful in the US during the Second
World War when a lot of people saw Austria as an enemy

External Affairs Power In Australia
Introduction
Section 51 (xxix) of the Constitution of Australia grants exclusive power to the Commonwealth to
legislate with regard to external affairs. Since its inception, through the development of case law, the
external affairs power has been found to consist of three limbs:
1. Relations with other countries
2. Matters geographically external to Australia
3. Implementing treaties within Australia
In this essay, it will be seen that the expansion of the external affairs power since Federation reflects
Australia s growing independence from a Dominion of the United Kingdom and its transition into
nationhood.
In order to be recognised as an independent state, a country or nation must satisfy five vital elements.
Statehood is recognised when a country or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relations with Other Countries
The first limb of the External Affairs Power allows the Commonwealth to institute legislation
designed to preserve relations with other countries and international organisations like that of the
United Nations. This deals with a legal topics ranging from sedition or treason , extradition and
terrorism.
A major part of this limb is to develop and enforce laws that aim to criminalise acts like that of
sedition or treason against countries other than Australia . By doing so it is hoped that relations with
external countries are preserved.
Another major aspect this limb deals with is that of Australia s relationship with the United Nations
and other major international organisations .
The external affairs power is also designed to apply to individuals plotting terrorist acts against other
countries, as was the case in Thomas v

Dna Testing And The Criminal Justice System
Convictions prior to the advancement of DNA testing in the criminal justice system were commonly
found to be later wrongful and due to eyewitness misidentification (Scheck Neufeld, 2001). Hence,
there has been increasing research by psychologists in eyewitness memory and particularly in line up
practices. In criminal identification, a simultaneous line up (SIM) is typically used and involves
presenting the witness with all line up suspects at once with the offender (target) placed amongst other
innocent suspects (foils) that resemble the offender (Wells Olsen, 2003). With these conditions,
witnesses have a tendency to compare suspects with each other in order to determine the one that have
the closest resemblance with the offender, a process called relative judgement (Steblay, Dysart, Fulero
Lindsay, 2001). In the simultaneous line ups with target present, there are more hits as the closest
resemblance is the perpetrator but while in target absent conditions, the closest matching foil is often
picked and resulting in more false alarms (Steblay, Dysart, Fulero Lindsay, 2001). Therefore, to
prevent the potential of misidentification, alternative line up presentations have been developed to
inhibit relative judgement processes such as sequential line up in Lindsay and Wells (1985).
Sequential line ups (SEQ) involves presenting a line up of photos in a sequential format and
eyewitnesses can only view the photo once and must determined whether the photo matches the

My Memories Of My Memory Essay
Going through my memory bank to remember something I learned, which seems so long ago, has
made me laugh because roller skating pops right into my head. Out of all things to remember that was
my worst and most exciting learning experience. I could not even tell you how old I was. I would
guess between five and eight years old. I remember getting a big brown box and in that box was a pair
of roller skates. I remember being so happy because I going to roller skate with all the other kids in the
apartment complex, so I thought.
Playing with the other kids was not hard to do, but skating was difficult thing to learn. Once I put
those skates on, I could not stand upright. I would fall forward on my knees or backwards on my
backside. I remember my arms flying all over the place. A couple of kids grabbed my hands to help
me, so I would not fall, but I still fell down. After some time, I learned to master standing completely
still and only being able to move my head from left to right. I managed to scoot and hold on to the
walls to get around, but when I let go to move on my own, I just landed on the ground. Each time I
tried to use my foot to push, I would just tip over. I must have looked like a tree falling over each time.
I was unable to keep up with my friends, which meant I had many tantrums. I stood there hurt because
I had fallen so many times that I had cut up my knees and hands and at that moment, I decided I was
not skating anymore. Being physically hurt

I believe that fishing in Canada is much better than fishing in the United States. Through personal

We rent it from a married couple about sixty years old, Lisette and Rolan. It doesn t cost a lot of

Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be
proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would
have others think of us. In her novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen makes the point that an excess
of pride or vanity is indeed a failing.
Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am
convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there
are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self complacency on the score of some quality or
another, real or imaginary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Collins possesses a definite sense of vanity. He is in no way concerned about his own opinion of
his character, for as we see his character leaves much to be desired. All he cares about is what others
think of him. He always needs the approval of his present company. When he gives Elizabeth the
grand tour of his nothing spectacular home, he is looking for her approval of his position and
possessions. It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they just had better be
impressed his status in life and his connections.
Mr. Darcy, as one of the main characters, is for the better part of the novel a focus of the theme of
pride. His pride is very obvious. It is a part of his nature and is seen in his mannerisms and in his
speech. Darcy has such a high opinion of himself that he does not care what others think of him or his
prideful actions. He believes that he is the best in every way possible and finds that his standing in
society gives him the right to be critical of those not as perfect as he.
Elizabeth Bennet, the other main character of the novel, is just as guilty of being proud as any of the
other characters in the novel. She prides herself on being unprejudiced and rational in the judgement
of others. Yet, this is an imaginary quality as she learns that her preconceived notions of both Mr.

The Importance Of Personal Liberty
Personal liberty means a bundle of rights, essential for the existence of human life. In Maneka Gandhi
v. Union of India, the Supreme Court pointed out that the expression personal liberty does not mean
only liberty of the persons but also liberty or rights attached to the person (Jus personam). A division
bench of the Delhi High Court observed in AV Chardel v. Delhi University that the expression life and
personal liberty includes a variety of rights, which though not enumerated in Part III of the
Constitution, can be included in various aspects of liberty provided they are necessary for the full
development of human personality. Further in Francis Coralie v. Union Territory of Delhi, Justices PN
Bhagwati, Fazal Ali, Murtaza, while stressing the quality of life and its enjoyment within the purview
of Article 21 have rightly said: the right to life enshrined in Article 21 cannot be restricted to mere
animal existence. It means something much more than just physical survival. The right to life includes
the right to live with human dignity and all that goes along with it.
Along these lines the articulation individual freedom isn t restricted to the assurance of appendage and

The Classification Of Dynamic Games
Classification of dynamic games according to the level of information available. Information plays a
crucial role in Game theory. The high level of importance is due to the fact that it provides us with an
outline for different possible strategies that the players might undertake. 4.1. Dynamic Games with
Complete Information Complete information implies that each agent knows both the strategies and
returns of the other agents participating in the game but they may be not be aware of the particular
actions of the other players in the game. Complete and Perfect Information. A game in which each
player is aware of the actions of all other players that have already taken place is called a game with
complete and perfect information. They know the strategies and the returns of the other players. In
those games, the agents are aware of the complete history of the game. Usually in those games there is
one leader and then the rest of the players are followers. Two player (administrator, attacker) general
sum and zero sum games Let us consider a game where there are two players, with payoffs
represented by the following matrix: B^1=[■(β_11^1 β_12^1@β_21^1 β_22^1 )] and B^2=[■(β_11^1
β_12^1@β_21^1 β_22^1 )] If the player 1 has an action set of A1 = {α11, α 21 } and the player 2 has
an action set of A2 = {α12, α 22 } , the payoff to the first player is matrix B^1 and to the second player
is B^2 . When we have a zero sum game the payoff for both players is always zero: B^1+B^2=0

Underdog Branding and Its Consumer Appeal
Picture the Jamaican bobsled team going for the gold at the Winter Olympics. Or competitors in what
seem fundamentally unbalanced battles: the Chicago Cubs versus the New York Yankees, Apple

In the public eye, the weaker party is often more attractive. Why?
The reason might be an increasing willingness on the part of consumers to identify with the underdog.
In today s economically difficult times, it appears, underdog brands are gaining psychological, and

A: Our interest was piqued during the 2008 presidential election when virtually all the candidates,

underdog. A market scan of contemporary branding practices also indicated a rise in underdog
positioning across a diverse group of brands.

  • 3. The Strike Of Foodservice Workers At Unc Chapel Hill The 1969 strike of foodservice workers at UNC Chapel Hill was a labor dispute involving lunch ladies, less than 20 women of color, working in a college cafeteria serving the large student population. This unlikely group of women and their labor dispute had a much more important effect on the larger perspective of not only work conditions and wages for women and African Americans, but the macro level of civil rights on college campuses in the south during the civil rights movement. The efforts of the women and Black Student Movement to fight for fair pay, We will also look at the impact this labor dispute had for not only the college campus but also the entire state of North Carolina and the nation at large. Not only geographically, we will also examine the effect this foodservice strike has had on the fast food industry presently and labor relations for the Fight for 15 movement. The Lenoir Dining Hall at UNC Chapel Hill served food to some 1700 students and faculty a day. The lunch ladies managing the cafeteria worked through long hours, short wages and degrading work conditions. Food service was tough enough for college lunch ladies because students and faculty did not typically regard the non faculty employees with much respect or recognition. This lack of respect or recognition was amplified by high racial tensions of the civil rights era and the reality that most non faculty employees were African American. Not only were the work conditions underappreciated by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, they have made several strategic changes during this time, they have not been able to restore the company to its previous financially stable operation. By doing a SWOT analysis, Motorola may be able to develop a strategy to boost the company s performance. Regardless of what strategy is incorporated, it must be able to return the firm to profitability. Motorola s external environment has a large impact on its opportunities and threats. The spinoff of the Mobile Devices segment that was postponed will be a huge advantage to the main corporation. However, the segment may not make it as an independent company, especially since it is already failing due to 2008 s economical downturn. If the company can divide and become two industry leading companies, as Greg Brown stated, the advantages will include increased flexibility, more target investment opportunities, focused management and increased tailored capital structures (Hitt, Hoskisson, amp; Ireland, 2011). Investing WiMax technology was a strategic investment for Motorola. If the wireless technology takes off, it may give Motorola the push that it needs to get ahead. Unfortunately, if the technology fails, Motorola may not recover from their losses. The advantages and disadvantages are complete opposites in this situation. Strategic issues can be resolved by changing the design of the company s organizational structure and strategies. Flawe3d strategies do not help the company with profitability. Motorola may be able to balance the company if they update everything from style of management to their research and development team. Another option would be to bring in a specialist to analyze the company s structure and make recommendations. A cheaper alternative to a specialist would be to hire new people so that fresh new ideas are integrated into the company. Any changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The word Petrodollar was coined by the Egyptian economist Ibrahim Oweiss, as a way to describe how oil producing and exporting countries were accounting for oil units outside of the regular money supply. Hallucinations can be triggered by many different factors; for instance, certain medicines that doctors will prescribe for people dealing with Parkinson s disease, depression, psychosis, and epilepsy can have side effects such as hallucinations. Just because there is a dictionary term for what a hallucination is, does and how it affects someone does not always mean that it is always an accurate definition. There is no way to describe a typical hallucination. These experiences vary considerably in length of time, quality, and sense or senses affected. Some hallucinations only last a few seconds; however some people that have been diagnosed with Charles Bonnet Syndrome have reported their hallucinations lasting over the span of several days (Gale). People who have taken certain drugs have experienced hallucinations lasting over several days. Albert Hoffman, a swiss chemist, first synthesized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By some estimates, the total number of human beings that have ever lived is about 110 billion, of which approximately 7% are alive today. The world population keeps growing every year, so, statistically, you might say more humans have a chance of being at the right place at the right time than at any given time before, right? Yes and, uh, no. Statistics and big numbers have a powerful way of suggesting the wrong answer. Rail tracks and bridges were needed in great numbers all the way to the West Coast. A new, much more efficient process to make a stronger iron had just been invented by Henry Bessemer in the United Kingdom and Andrew Carnegie saw an enormous opportunity in making this new iron called steel from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, close to the iron ore mines and rivers for easy transport. But, the most important factor in deciding to start this business was a law adopted in 1870 supported by the Republican Party, which had the presidency and a majority in Congress. The law was a $28 tariff on imported steel, basically taking out the British competition in one stroke. The tariff was upheld for a good 30 years. You may or may not favor laws like this one, but it is beside the point: it was a Ka Ching moment for Andrew and the other eight steel companies in the United States. • 13. Federal Preemption Should Be Easily Decided David Gorhan MBA 610 Business Law Final Paper: Federal Preemption January 25, 2015 Cases about federal preemption should be easily decided. The basis of the concept is written clearly in the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution. Article VI, Paragraph 2 states: This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding. (Cornell University Law School, n.d.) Essentially, the Supremacy Clause states that the laws promulgated by the U.S. government take priority over any laws that the individual states have enacted. The forefathers of the United States understood that while some issues should be under the states discretion, others have more of a national concern. Based on the Supremacy Clause, states are prohibited from passing laws that are inconsistent with federal law. In turn state constitutions have also inserted Supremacy Clauses in their own constitutions that prohibit the municipalities from enacting laws that are inconsistent with state laws. However obvious and simple this concept sounds, the Supreme Court of the U.S. (SCOTUS) has seen over twelve cases in the last five years concerning federal preemption and the balance between state and federal power and ... Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the initiation of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an improvement in the economic standing in the region from both the international community and majority of the Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank has in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo Accords. Although there have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been far more long term and complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United States, were not able to effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian economy. The inability of the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian development within Palestine is the result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and blockades, the unintentional implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and political patronage. Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian assistance to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military occupation and blockades in the occupied West Bank. As students change, teachers need to have the flexibility needed to adapt to the students needs. Students today are much different than they were twenty or thirty years ago, so teachers need to recognize this and help the students by changing their teaching techniques, classroom management, and the amount of training they receive, whether it is required or voluntary. Molecular archeologist Patrick McGovern believes fermentation of yeast was discovered nearly 9,000 years ago after he uncovered chemical traces of a fermented beverage found seeped into the porous clay of ancient pottery. It is safe to say that the brewing industry is as old as civilization itself and over time humans have been able to be creative with the process and produce variations of beer recipes. Drinking a beer can be defined as an experience involving the presentation of its storage along with the beverage itself. Consumers can appreciate both the artist of the individualized concoction of the beer and the artist of its container or vessel. These two components of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wort is then brought to a boil, only recent in todays world, and hops are introduced where they can break down and add different flavoring to the beer by releasing oils. The wort cools down and yeast is then added for fermentation to begin. The yeast breaks down the sugars from the mash and releases alcohol and carbon dioxide into the mixture. At this point in the brewing process, brewer can decide to brew an ale or a lager, and choose the correct yeast according to that decision. As the yeast finishes up its job, it begins to settle at the bottom of the fermentation vessel, leaving the final beer product (Quinn). Fig. 1 Since the beginning of fermentation history, potters and brewers have been linked by the beer market. Beer is a product of water, malt, and yeast and fermentation. Fermentation is fundamental in brewing because it gives beer its carbonation and alcohol content, so it is no wonder people began creating vessels, or amphorae, with a functional use suited for this chemical reaction. In Figure 1, amphorae that are shown generally had a specific shape with a tall narrow body and cylindrical neck, enabling beer to ferment due to yeast breaking down sugar into alcohol in a cyclical movement inside (Cartwright, 2013). • 24. Dna Testing And The Criminal Justice System Convictions prior to the advancement of DNA testing in the criminal justice system were commonly found to be later wrongful and due to eyewitness misidentification (Scheck Neufeld, 2001). Hence, there has been increasing research by psychologists in eyewitness memory and particularly in line up practices. In criminal identification, a simultaneous line up (SIM) is typically used and involves presenting the witness with all line up suspects at once with the offender (target) placed amongst other innocent suspects (foils) that resemble the offender (Wells Olsen, 2003). With these conditions, witnesses have a tendency to compare suspects with each other in order to determine the one that have the closest resemblance with the offender, a process called relative judgement (Steblay, Dysart, Fulero Lindsay, 2001). In the simultaneous line ups with target present, there are more hits as the closest resemblance is the perpetrator but while in target absent conditions, the closest matching foil is often picked and resulting in more false alarms (Steblay, Dysart, Fulero Lindsay, 2001). Therefore, to prevent the potential of misidentification, alternative line up presentations have been developed to inhibit relative judgement processes such as sequential line up in Lindsay and Wells (1985). Sequential line ups (SEQ) involves presenting a line up of photos in a sequential format and eyewitnesses can only view the photo once and must determined whether the photo matches the ... We rent it from a married couple about sixty years old, Lisette and Rolan. It doesn t cost a lot of money, about two thousand dollars, to stay there two and a half weeks. It is a very small, white, run down cabin overlooking the lake. The view is gorgeous out of a cracked window. You see the deep, blue, glass like water with the sunset reflection ... Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us. In her novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen makes the point that an excess of pride or vanity is indeed a failing. Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self complacency on the score of some quality or another, real or imaginary. ... He is in no way concerned about his own opinion of his character, for as we see his character leaves much to be desired. All he cares about is what others think of him. It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they just had better be impressed his status in life and his connections. • 33. The Classification Of Dynamic Games Classification of dynamic games according to the level of information available. Information plays a crucial role in Game theory. The high level of importance is due to the fact that it provides us with an outline for different possible strategies that the players might undertake. 4.1. Dynamic Games with Complete Information Complete information implies that each agent knows both the strategies and returns of the other agents participating in the game but they may be not be aware of the particular actions of the other players in the game. Complete and Perfect Information. A game in which each player is aware of the actions of all other players that have already taken place is called a game with complete and perfect information. They know the strategies and the returns of the other players. In those games, the agents are aware of the complete history of the game. Usually in those games there is one leader and then the rest of the players are followers. Two player (administrator, attacker) general sum and zero sum games Let us consider a game where there are two players, with payoffs represented by the following matrix: B^1=[■(β_11^1 β_12^1@β_21^1 β_22^1 )] and B^2=[■(β_11^1 β_12^1@β_21^1 β_22^1 )] If the player 1 has an action set of A1 = {α11, α 21 } and the player 2 has an action set of A2 = {α12, α 22 } , the payoff to the first player is matrix B^1 and to the second player is B^2 . (13) Guidelines direct that casualties who remain unresponsive to glucagon after 10 minutes are then eligible for treatment with IV dextrose 50%. (13) This appears unique to the ADF. The Ambulance Service of New South Wales (ASoNSW) offers glucagon as a non essential treatment option along with dextrose 10%, while Ambulance Victoria (AV) directs that glucagon is administered only to patients in whom IV access cannot be established.
