Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877...
Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a
period of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent
reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the
success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind.
The amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the
military force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions,
but only within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard
hours though in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several
Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower
and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence
wielded by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no
black whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that
this progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks
were subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the
blacks found that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white
counterparts. This was a matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by
experience, of which the blacks had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were
operating in an environment that was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made
considerable progress into politics, their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal
influence inside and violence outside government ensured that the African American politicians
were prevented from working effectively even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these
people even had the remote chance of

The Mafia s Influence On Hip Hop
The Mafia s influence on Hip Hop In Rap, there is a unique culture, history, social impact and
influence on society. Hip Hop/Rap is one of the most popular genre of music. It has helped shape
the pop culture into what it is today. What is popular culture? The ideas, activities or products,
which are popular among the general mass. In today s pop culture, one subject that is at the top of
the list is hip hop/rap. Hip Hop music highlights verses consisting of slang and catchy phrases,
which some parents find troublesome. However, the younger generation find it to be an expression
of an artist s life. Although rap is very influential, other elements in the past have influenced rap.
You can see this through the Mafia and their cultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When talking about the American Mafia, mostly it s referring to the Italians and their influence.
During the height of the Mafia its influence on society was massive and mostly in a negative
way. In pop culture, the Mafia represented violence, gang affiliations, and criminals. Although, in
the perspective of our generation today some view them as heroes. The reason for this is mostly
from the rise of hip hop in society and how people view it. The Mafia s impact on hip hop goes
up against various structures, glorifying the lives of mobsters over a significant time span such
as Al Capone, John Gotti, and Bugsy Siegel. The American Mafia originated in New York,
Chicago, New Orleans, Detroit, and Philadelphia during the 1920 s. Many generations later,
rappers would predominantly be born from these cities aspiring to get the many benefits of
fame, the sudden notoriety and popularity. Despite the fact that the height of the Mafia s impact
was largely found in New York in the 1990 s, rappers such as Jay Z, Biggie Smalls, and Mase are
key examples of rappers who were influenced by the Mafia in some degree. The 1990 s consisted of
other impacts like movies, commercials, news and a few New York rappers influenced by the
long legacy of movies like The Godfather, GoodFellas, and Casino, revealed to the world hip hop

and many more. Rappers such as these where

Moon Landing Research Papers
Moon Landings Essay I think the moon landing was real because evidence that I have found
makes me believe that it was real . One thing that makes me believe it was real is that the U.S was
in a race with another country of who would make it to the moon first and Why? would the fake
going to the moonbecause I know as a competitive person I wouldn t want to lose and I wouldn t
fake it because I would embarrass myself and look dumb and also embarrass my entire country .
My opinion is I think it s real because when Apollo 11launched countries all over the globe

Challenges Facing The Health Care Industry
This case study provides the challenges facing the health care industry in details and proposes
plausible solutions to the arising issues. The paper focuses specifically on three major challenges:
the shortage of labor force for the physician extenders (nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician
assistants), lack of primary health care due to overspecialization of the physician workforce, and
cybersecurity.
The healthcare system makes provision for the prevention, treatment, and management of illness

combine science, information and compassion.
With the implementation of the affordable care act (ACA) in March 2010. There was an
expectation to revolutionize the U.S. health care system. The expectation was to make the health
care more affordable to everyone. In doing this unexpected challenges to the health care system
providers arose. When the newly insured were provided with health care coverage many of the
newly insured try to use their health benefits. Health care providers reported higher than
expected use of oncology, maternity, musculoskeletal and other specialty services, from the
newly insured. As the population of health care users grew in size after the ACA the health care
labor force did not grow appropriately to accommodate such drastic changes in the frequent
usage of health care facilities by the newly insured. According to the Health Care Worker
Shortage: Suggested Responses from the Surgical Community by Jeanette and Andrew, the
demand for healthcare professionals was predicted to grow about 25% between 2002 and 2010.
Registered nurses (RNs), the largest healthcare professional group in the U.S., were particularly
in demand. Of the 2.7 million RNs registered in 2002, only 10% were less than 30 years of age,
and the average age, 45 years old according to 2002 data, had been increasingly steadily. The

Family As A Social Institution Of People
We all raised to believe that from the best thing that one can have is an ideal family and growing
up we all wanted to be raised in a peaceful, happy and secure family with loving parents who will
be there for us no matter what physically and mentally able to provide for the family where we
will be always welcomed by our parents and siblings alike and heard and respected all the time.
Sociologist define the familyas an intimate, domestic and primary group, a social institution of
people related to one another by blood or adoption with legal ties, it have three important social
functions: to provide and raise children, to provide a sense of identity, belonging and a set of
close and strong relations among its members and to transmit culture between generations. In the
modern societies, we prefer to think of a family as constructed of a mother, father, and children
living under one roof called a nuclear family , when it consist of several generations living
together or close by it s called extended family.
As we grow up also we can notice how much we are far from the ideal family, I lived with two
sisters from different fathers my mother went through three marriages she also raised as for a
long period as single mother we had some really hard times where my mom could barely support us
financially and mentally because she had to work for more and more hours so I had to raise my
younger sister instead in a very young age this was bad for me as I did not have a normal childhood

Her decision to go to jail was a huge decision that she had to make and in hindsight it worked out
beautifully for her. I wouldn t say that she is back on top but she is in a lot better place now then
she was before and I think that this is due to her showing the public that she was willing to bite
the bullet and go to jail willingly. I also feel that her letters and reports from jail really showed the
public that she was really paying her dues and that maybe she was deserving of being back in the
real world.
5. Martha should lay low key for the time and continue to live in the good vibes that she is getting
from the public. She seems to have a lot of things back and I feel that she should structure her
comments and actions more around a defensive approach and thoroughly think out her nest few
steps.
6. I think that if she were to acknowledge any mistake she may or may not have made, that it
would throw her back into negativity and mud her name. She needs to focus on becoming the
mogul that she once was and work up not dwelling on the past. She served her time and payed
her dues to the public and she shouldn t relive all of that. It happened years ago and by now a lot
of people have forgotten about it all. I think now, she should stay consistent with her story. Don t

Narrative Essay About Basketball Game
I awoke on Friday morning to the smell of crispy bacon and hot eggs, my usual pre tournament
breakfast. I bolted out of bed to get to the kitchen. I devoured that pretty quickly, then headed to
get ready for the weekend. I had already packed the night before: 2 uniforms, my swimsuit,
pajamas, my bathroom bag, nice clothes for when we go out to eat as a team, and most
importantly, my softball bag. I bolted out to the car as soon as I made sure I had everything readyto
go. Everything was packed, and we embarked on our long journey to the Quad Cities.
After driving for what seemed an eternity, we finally arrived to our tournament. I was the second
person from my team there, my coach and his daughter, Liv, beat me there. The field was
beautiful: the perfect dirt; the fresh, chalk lines; the clean, bright white bases. I was ready to play.

Then it was time for the next game. I was pitching. I threw one of the best games of my life, but
we ended up losing by one run. We got fourth in the whole tournament, and there were 15 teams
there. We had a very successful weekend,
We were able to go out to lunch as a team before we all went back home. We chose to eat at Panera.
I ordered my usual, broccoli cheddar soup with a side salad. It was delicious, as usual. I was able

Gary said, and we bonded and became closer to each other! I was happy to be going home,
although I had so much fun. I missed my comfy cozy bed back home. I learned so much that

Hill Attack Schurz Summary
In Schurz s report he talked a decent amount on the treatment of slaves. He was talking about how
the terror against any colored person was definitely still going on. Schurz talks about how black
people were being; kidnapped, maimed, killed, and have been disappearing (M.P. Johnson pg.4).
The treatment was not going to get better because the southern whites have an ingrained feeling
that the blacks at large belong to the withes at large... (M.P. Johnson pg.5). He s pretty much saying
that the black peopleare still being looked down upon by the whites in the south. This ties in with
how Hill and many of his family were being treated. For example, Hill talks about how one night,
people came knocking at the door of his brother. These people were no other than the K.K.K.
They were looking for him and bludgeoned his sister in law to get the information about Hill s
whereabouts. When the woman couldn t handle the beating, she told them where Hill was. They
grabbed Hill out of his wooden shed and started to beat him, until one of the members started
talking. They threatened Hill and beat him some more before they left him alone. This was the
terror that newly freed slaves were facing, and the terror Schurz was talking about.... Show more

Prisoners In Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, Plato describes a cave where prisoners are chained by their legs
and necks. Since their motions are restricted, they can only see what is directly in front of them.
By deciphering the images that are reflected on the wall in front of them; they can only imagine
the outside world and create their own reality. A prisoner is released to the outside world and
realizes that the items that he and the other prisoners had deciphered in the cave were only
illusions. Once outside the cave, the prisonersees the beautiful world and is not going to want to
return to the cave. Platocompares the cave dwellers to men lacking education and are not fit to
preside over the city. They are without a sense of purpose or duty.

Enterprise Resource Planning ( Erp ) Systems Attempt
Introduction
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems attempt to combine data and processes in
organizations. The data is centralized as a single database. This database functions as a hub that
stores, shares, and circulates data from within the different organizational units and business
functions. ERP systems are one of the most adopted information technology (IT) solutions in
organizations. Besides the possible cost savings, one of the main drivers for an ERP adoption
would be the technical and operation integration of business functions to complement the
information stream with the material flow of goods or services. In order for the management and

Ontological Argument For The Existence Of God
Throughout Proslogion Anselm defends his argument that God is which nothing greater can be
thought by providing key elements. Anselm proposes that one cannot imagine a god that is greater,
and even non believers have a conception of the western god. Anselm asserts that since everyone
has an understanding of god in their mind, then god exist in reality. This paper will evaluate some
of the main key elements that Anselm uses to prove that the ontological argumentis correct in
Proslogion. I contend that Anselm does not exhibit proper terminology and provides vague
statements and therefore his argument that God is which nothing greater can be thought is invalid.

Anselm argues that god is merciful and impassible at the same time. Those two definitions are the
complete opposite of each other. Merciful can mean showing compassion for a person and being
sympathetic towards a person who has done wrong. Impassible can mean incapable of feeling
sympathy for an individual who has done wrong. Anselm believes that god is both, but how is that
possible for a person to be compassionate and not compassionate. This statement is contradictory
and does not make logical sense because a person cannot be compassionate and not compassionate.
If god is both compassionate and non compassionate then he is indecisive because he cannot decide
whether he actually wants to punish an individual. When Anselm stated that god was both
compassionate and not compassionate he realized that it did not make sense because he even
questions god. Anselm combines words that are contradictory to each other and creates a confusing
statement. This statement is difficult to understand and creates a flaw in his ontological

Why Do We Need To Legalize Animal Testing
Within the past several decades, as medical and scientific research have progressively advanced
throughout the world, the global market has expanded to encompass a wide range of medications,
chemicals, cosmetics, and other commercial products. In an endeavor to account for the constantly
increasing demand for these products, numerous research facilities and laboratories have arisen
across the United States. However, although a number of these medications and cosmetics have
proven an asset to society, these products are created at the expense of the lives of millions of
innocent creatures. Before becoming available for consumption on the market, the effectiveness of
these products is verified through a series of unfathomably cruel animal trials and experiments.
While the government has sought to maintain a measure of control over animal experimentation
through the implementation of laws, these efforts have been largely in vain. Despite the enactment
of regulations designed to reduce the mistreatment of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, animal experimentation subjects innocent creatures to immense physical and
psychological agony through the employment of abusive, inhumane procedures. Currently, an
approximate 26 million animals in the United States alone undergo trials and experiments devised
to ascertain the efficiency and overall safety of products developed for human use ( Animal Testing
). In a futile attempt to prevent the immoral treatment of animals in scientific laboratories, the
government enacted the Animal Welfare Act several years previously, granting marginal protection
to a handful of sentient species. However, the Animal Welfare Act excludes nearly 99 percent of
animal species commonly used in scientific studies, thereby enabling scientists to experiment on
creatures such as birds, mice, fish, and other cold blooded species without interference from the law
( Animal Testing 101 ). Consequently, in order to test commercial

Chapter Summary For Killer Angels
KILLER ANGELS
AUTHOR: MICHAEL SHAARA
Set in the American Civil War, Killer Angels gives the viewpoints of four Generals (Generals Lee
Longstreet from the South and Generals Chamberlain Buford from the Union) as they fight through
the battle of Gettysburg.
The year is 1863. The American Civil Warhas dragged on for over two years. For most of the war
the South has been playing defense in their own background, using maneuvers and tactics to gain
impressive victories over the far superior Union Army. General Meade has been thrust into
command of the Army of the Potomac. President Lincoln faces heat in Washington and his
reelection is in doubt. The time is now for General Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia to go on

He attempts to gather all his divisions together and begin his offensive campaign against
General Meade s armies. On the Union side, General Buford engages Lee s forces until dusk in
order to hold off their advances and allow his men to keep the high ground and gain a strategic
advantage. It appears that Lee has gained a major victory at this point since Buford ran to the
hills . Day two dawns with General Longstreet trying to convince Lee that the Army of Northern
Virginia is not built to go on the offensive and that a full on assault campaign will ruin the Army.
Lee pays no heed. General Chamberlain and his Maine Men are the end of the Union Line and
successfully holds off a far superior Confederate assault and keep the high ground. On the third
and final day of the battle, General Lee commits the greatest folly of his illustrious career. Again
dismissing the pleas of Longstreet, Lee sends General Pickett and his division across an open
field to attack the Union position. To this day, military historians are unsure why Lee sent Picket
on this suicide mission. Pickett s Charge led to catastrophic losses for the Confederate Army and
a shocked General Lee was forced to call retreat. Thus ended the bloodiest battle of the American
Civil War and effectively ended the war for all intents and purposes (although the war would rage
on for another year and a half). The Army of Northern Virginia would never again make a serious
venture into the Northern

Patient Safety Is A Major Concern For All Health Care
Patient safety is a major concern for all health care providers. Two areas of safety that are
relevant to my practice in an outpatient surgical center are medication errors and the electronic
error reporting. The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) is the organization
that was used to support my project. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN)

Everyone in the health care environment wants to be kept safe. A discussion on how
medication errors and the electronic error reporting affects everyone from the staff to the
community will be discussed. Safety is an integral part of health care. Considering the Joint
Commission (2015) believes patient safety is so important that it has dedicated and entire

medication errors and electronic error reporting will be discussed. Along with the topic of
medication errors and electronic reporting will be two plans to reduce safety related events.

To assume that something is correct because of popular opinion allows those with influence to
manipulate our way of thinking if we do not do our own research. Over the past month, a huge
argument between the President and the media has been about how many people were at the
inauguration speech of President Obama in comparison to how many were at President Trump s.
It is as if both sides are trying to say who is right by saying who had more people. To think that
one President is better because one had more support at the inauguration speech is ridiculous yet
the argument received plenty of air time on both sides of the media and garnished a lot of attention
from the White House. Apparently, this is a very important argument to be won though by the
amount of attention it has received. Those are my three examples of logical fallacies. I chose them
because as I thought about the selection given to us, those three were the ones that stood out in my
mind the most as being used in politics. Seems kind of ridiculous that all three are being used. Not
just being used, but being used

Observation Of Shopper Behavior
Firstly, when observing shopper behaviour, it is critical to understand that customers can not
know they are being observed, therefore it doesn t consciously or unconsciously influence their
behaviour. Because if people know they are being watched, they will become more self
awareness, and it may change their behaviour or what they do as a result (Graves 2010, p.72 74).
In order to observe how much time customers spent in store and how do they move in store,
Myer can use a technological way, such as WiFi. When people going shopping in Myer, they can
connect free WiFi in store, and when they leave the store, the WiFi will automatically disconnect.
Therefore, it tells how long customers spend in store and it can also track the movements of
customers in store. For the customer satisfaction, the manual observation would be better, so that
researcher can see objectives body language, and the words they use, their tone of voice, and their
facial expression. These can provide a visual indicator of how customer feeling during the
shopping (Graves 2010, p.85). To repot these behaviours, Myer can calculate the average time
people spent in store, and where is the most visited areas in store. These can answer the questions
of how to layout the store, where to put the products in order to get shoppers attention. Moreover,
through the observation of customers emotion, Myer can understand how to service customer in a
better, and how to make customers satisfied. I companied one of my

How Healthcare Is An Important Industry That Is Always Needed
Healthcare is an important industry that is always needed. Like other industries, it has to start
somewhere. Organizations have to be planned, opened, and organized, healthcare providers ,
managers, and other employees need to be hired, and much more. One of the most important
employees within an organization is the compensation specialist. Compensation specialists
supervise and manage the employee compensation programs within an organization. Some of the
common responsibilities include: developing the organization s pay structure, managing and
improving all bonus or commissions, and preparing job descriptions (DeCenzo, Robbins, Verhulst,
2013). According to Samantha Smith, a compensation specialist for Rocky Mountain Sleep Clinic,
the process of determining an employee s salaryis rather long and time consuming. She says that
there are five steps she follows to develop the salaries within the organization. First she must
review her own pay practice to help determine the budget of the company. Once this is completed,
she must determine the definition and description of each job, which is later used to advertise the
position during the hiring process. A proper description of each position allows for the applicants
to understand what they are applying for. Employees also know what is expected of them after
reading the job description. It is also important to track the competition. Salaries will vary by
organization, position, and employee, but knowing where the

So This Is Nibraska
So this is Nebraska is a poem by Ted Kooser in the postmodern age. The poem had been written in
present tense, probably to emphasize the current state of rural Nebraska, which is a small village in
America.
The poem describes a Sunday afternoon in July in Nebraska and this is mentioned in the third
stanza of the poem all the other descriptive language in the poem is used to explain this setting.
The very first paragraph is a compound complex sentence. The purpose of this is to slow the pace
of the poem. In the first line the gravel road rides, the road is being personified, further
description of telephone lines is given to create the image of a long monotones. A visual image

Tactile imagery is used with the phrase squeezing the air, this immediately makes the reader identify
with the environment and feel like he/she is there in Nebraska. In the 4th line of this stanza
anthropomorphism has been used because the meadowlarks are waiting and the author had given
them human qualities. The word waiting suggests that it is very still and silent in Nebraska.
The fourth stanza talks about a shelterbelt of cedars and a visual image is used here to make the
trees seem big and protected. An auditory image is used to describe the staring up of the engine of
the pick up truck.
The 5th stanza the phrase you feel has been repeated several times to elaborate the feeling that
the u in the poem is yearning to feel which is laid back and care free. The 5th stanza also suggests
that the u in the poem wants to fit into the environment. The phrase tires go flat implies silence
and lack of movement. The 5th stanza is also one big long compound complex, which runs into the
next stanza to slow the pace and contribute to this feeling of silence. The tone of this stanza is laid
back suggesting that the u in the poem wants to be off card and calm. The 6th stanza starts with an
onomatopoeic word clucking to describe the various sounds in the environment. The narrator says
that the u in the poem feels like holding a skinny old man in his/her lap... Waiting for someone to

Money Is Not The Answer

Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of
working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of
life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the
purchase of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in
contemporary society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more
they want to obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point
where there is complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through
wealth. Dickens saw this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great
Expectations, such as Joe and Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a
person, but rather, true inner wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others.
Dickens uses the character of Joe to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that
Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe
embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions and relationships to others. This occurs before
Pip has received his expectations, where Joe sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. For
instance, when Mrs. Joe s dinner guests start to criticise Pip, Joe always aided and comforted me

Camera angles in movies can be used to show a character has power over another one. It is also
used if character is physically taller than another but has less power the camera angle may still
be down on them. This is shown in the Blind Side when michael is being interviewed by the lady
from the N.C.A.A The camera angle is clear that the lady has more power over michael because
she is almost always looking down on him except at the end where michael takes a stand against
the lady and leaves the room then the camera angles even out showing the shift in power. It was
very effective in making him feel powerless and then powerful. Another example is when michael
is in hurt village when he is talking to alton and he is sitting with him and then he stands up and it
creates a lot of tension and it shows the balance of power tilting towards michael. The camera

Mandatory Driving Laws And Legislation For Teenagers
In 2011, about 2,650 teenagers in the United States aged sixteen to nineteen were killed and almost
292,000 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That
means that seven teenagers ages sixteen to nineteen died every day from motor vehicle related
injuries (Teenage 1). Teenage drivinghas become an increasingly controversial topic over the past
ten years. Many adults and politicians are fighting for tougher driving laws and legislation for
teenagers. While soon to be teenage drivers, along with current teenage drivers and busy parents
argue that things are fine just the way they are. But, when the leading cause of death among
teenagers in the nation is traffic accidents, things cannot be considered fine . It is obvious that
there is a need for change and something must be done to save the lives of teenagers throughout
the United States. In an effort to lessen the number of traffic injuries and deaths among teenage
drivers, states need to adopt a Graduated Driver Licensing Program (GDL), which encompasses
night time driving, passenger limitation, cell phone use, seat belt use, a minimum holding period,
and a minimum amount of supervised driving hours. In the area of safety issues among teenage
drivers, studies have shown that driver education classes and training are simply not enough, and
the solution every study has found is a Graduated Driver Licensing Program, also referred to as,
GDL. A Graduated Driver Licensing Program

The Pros And Cons Of The American Civil War
Railroads are not nearly as popular in the United States as they are in European countries. Prior
to the American Civil War, railroads were a fairly new, and untried, invention. Compared to
carriages and the other modes of transportation at the time, the railroad was far superior. Due to
this superiority, they were used to transport soldiers, food, and supplies. A systemic railroad
began to spread all across the nation, and both sides of the war used them to their advantage.
The railroad construction started as soon as possible. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was
founded in 1828 and its first section of rails was open in 1830. At its peak, The B O Railroad
spread from the east coast all the way to the Illinois, and was over 5,550 miles long! In 1831, the
state of Maryland granted the B O Railroad and charter to begin construction of a line connecting
Maryland to Washington D.C. The south, which was mostly a society built on agriculture, was at a
huge disadvantage when it came to railroads. Two thirds of all the railroads in the nation at the
time were in the north. The southern states couldn t transport anything as easy as the north, and
their income mostly relied on the exportation of their crops. Without this source of income, the
Confederacy s economy was crippled. Arguably, railroads were the reason for the South s eventual
defeat. By 1861, 22,000 miles of track had been laid in the Northern states and 9,500 miles in the
South. In the south, there were cities that

The Movie Hocus Pocus Was Directed By Kenny Ortega And The...
In the late 1940 s a man named Joseph Campbell shared his Mythic principal with the world. He
explains that there is a three stage formula that he calls a Hero Journey which is the structure of
every story. Though most stories are completely different on the outside, the stories are almost
structured around these three stages. Stage 1 is the hero leaves the everyday world and enters
another world. While Stage 2 the hero is challenged by opposing forces and must pass a series a
test throughout the movie. That will then determine who will be victorious, either the hero or the
opposing forces. Stage 3 is tied into Stage 2 because if the hero is victorious, they will return to
the ordinary world with a gift for the world.
David Kirschner and Mick Garris fulfilled all the Hero s Journey steps. The movie Hocus Pocus

Essay about The Zulu Clan
The Zulu Clan
In the 1820 s, during a period of social unrest and warfare, the Zulu clan, a Bantu people, rose to
political prominence under the great King Shaka in present day South Africa. This period is
called mfecane, or crushing because it was characterized by Shaka s tyrannous reign during
which he conquered neighboring peoples and established a kingdom for the Zulu people on South
Africa s eastern coast. The word zulu was used in 1824 to refer to a war like race of South African
Blacks . (Ngubane, 1977) The British characterization of Shaka as a monster, however, is now seen
as a propagandist attempt to disguise their own interests in procuring land and labor in the region.

Considering the social trauma associated with colonialism and apartheid the Zulu responded by
clinging more tenaciously to their heritage as a means of psychological survival in a society
which systematically degraded and disrespected them as a people. Berglund (1976) points out
that it is the rituals and symbols of a society which express the relationships between members of
that society and makes living in that society a meaningful experience. The focus of this paper
will be centered on traditional Zulu spiritual beliefs and, to whatever extent possible, not those
adapted to Western thought. In providing first the basic cosmological beliefs and then moving
on to the central theme of traditional spiritual beliefs involving deceased ancestors and their role
in Zulu society, my goal will be to demonstrate how social harmony is maintained as a result of

Growing up my dad was always a busy business person. I remember ever since I was younger I
wanted to become a business owner just like him. He was a very helpful man with big dreams and
now that I am grown up I see myself in that man day to day.
This memo summarizes the extent knowledge Dane has in entrepreneurship as well as great advice
he provided for me.
Education
In interviewing Dane Brewer he informed me on his education. He graduated from the University
of Utah with a Bachelor s of Science of Electrical Engineering. This degree is not limited to
Electrical work. This degree is all about electricity to power to how to design computers. To
complete this degree Dane spent four years and one summer in school.
The first three years of college Dane worked for Utah Power and Light (Rocky Mountain
Power). While he was working for them he read about a scientist of the name Dr. Thomas
Stockum Jr. Stockum created the first audio recorded and Dane was extremely interested in this
because he loved music. When Dane was a senior he went to the company Stockum was running
and practically begged for a job as a janitor just to get his foot in the door. The

Kreon In Sophocles Antigone
In the play Antigone, Sophocles, the author, was more lenient and favorable towards Antigone, as
opposed to Kreon and the chorus because she showed more heroic characteristics as opposed to the
other two characters. Antigone goes against the normal human being at the time who would have
just listen to Kreon, but instead she decided to stand up for her family over herself. On line 26
Antigoneinitially starts to think about why only one of her brothers was buried, It s the burial. It
s our brothers: Kreon, honoring one and casting the other out. This was the first time Antigone got
to show what she wanted and how she acted. Since Kreon did not bury Polyneices that broke
Antigone s heart. Her whole family except for Ismene is dead, so she wanted to respect her family
first, and respect the dead. When she was brought to Kreon she had no shame, she did not lie, and
she was honest with Kreon.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antigone: I did it. I deny nothing. (538 541)
That small interaction between Kreon and Antigone is very honorable, especially in the situation
she was in. These are characteristics that show that Sophocles favored Antigone, she did all of this
on her own will. Then when Ismene did not want to join Antigone in the quest to bury her brother
you would be able to see the limits Antigone would go to.
Ismene: I won t dishonor anything; but I cannot help, not when the whole country refuses to help.
Antigone: Then weakness will be your plea. I am different. I love my brother and I m going to bury
him, now. (97 101)
Although Ismene, her last family member, did not help bury their own brother, Antigone carried
on with her plan to bury her brother. Antigone buried her brother even when Kreon had guards
stationed on the body, and she did so in a god like

Apostle s Closing Admonitions
The Apostle s Closing Admonitions and Benediction (16:10 24)
E. Harrison (p. 275) summarizes the message of the Epistle in these words: The greatest single
overall emphasis seems to be on the unity of the local church as the body of Christ, which is
brought out not only in connection with the discussion of the groups (i.e.; the factions within the
church), but also in relation to the Lord s Supper and spiritual gifts. A corollary is the sanctity of
the church as members of Christ, both corporately and individually, (note, especially, such
passages as 1 Cor. 3:16 17 and 6:15 20.) We may add, it is in this Epistlethat the Holy Spirit
through the Apostle Paul most eloquently sets forth the supremacy of love as the most excellent
way, which the Christian is called to follow (1 Cor. 12:31b 13:13
The Mystery Surrounding the Missing Letters
The References to Two Other Letters
Sometime after his initial visit to Corinth, probably while he was ministering in Ephesus, Paul
wrote a letter to the church, a letter to which he alludes in 1 Cor. 5:9, I wrote to you in my epistle
not to have any company with fornicators. As D. Guthrie points out (p. 426), the gist of the
contents of that previous letter may be inferred from 1 Cor. 5:9 13.
The apostle had evidently issued a warning to the Corinthians to maintain a clear separation from
those persons who continued to exhibit the pagan lifestyle that was characteristic of Corinth. (As
we have seen, the city was renowned for its

Iran s Iran Nuclear Program And Us Israel Relationship
Introduction:
Iran s clerical regime with a highly complicated government structure is an emergent economy in
the Middle East. While the historical hostility between the countries, is more than the Iran s
nuclear program, but now the center of debates are Iran s nuclear program and US Israel
relationship. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has reduced tensions between
both countries. However, Israel and Saudi Arabia, two allies of the US and adversaries of Iranhas
opposed the agreement. Iran is till considered a threat to the US national interest and security. The
risks cannot be eliminated only by military means, but it requires a comprehensive strategy. It is
important to reduce the capability of Iran and change its intention. The best possible way to do this
is supporting a gradual political transition of power from an extremist religious leader to the Iranian
nation.
Iran in a Glance:
Located in the Middle East, bordering the Gulf of Oman, the Persian Gulf, the Caspian Sea,
Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, Iran is 1,648,195 sq
km large. It is the 18th largest country in the world with a population estimated at 80 million
median age of 28.8 years, 99% Muslims and one 1% non Muslim. The Achaemenid Empire is
raise of Persian empire dated 550 BC, but some written history of Iran dates back to 3200 BC.
In 1979 conservative clerical Ayatollah Khomeini, erupted into revolution and founded the current

My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover
The mind of a psychotic can be an interesting maze to travel. The reason s that they do what they
do will probably remain a mystery for a long time, despite technological advancements. The
reasoning for some psychotics slips and harms to others can possibly be explained by Owen J.
Flanagan, as he states, The fact that slips sometimes take even the person himself by surprise is
explained by the fact that unconscious wishes are usually unknown to the person himself.
(Flanagan). This can help explain how the men act within the stories My Last Duchessand
Porphyria s Lover. Furthermore, this is a comparative analysis of the lover s within Porphyria s
Lover and My Last Duchess, both by Robert Browning. In both stories, the lover s perceive the
women as objects, instead of actual people. In My Last Mistress, he believes that he has given her
a gift by marrying her, and thus thinks that he owns her. He feels that she is taking this gift granted
and gets angry when she does not worship him. This is further pointed out by Susan Brownmiller,
...that masculine esteem which gets its kick and sense of power from viewing females as
anonymous, panting playthings, adult toys, dehumanized objects to be used, abused, broken and
discarded. (Brownmiller). This mode of thinking is more akin to the man in My Last Duchess. On
the same token, in Porphyria s Lover, the lover still sees her as an object because he wants to make
her his forever. He does not want her to go out by herself to

  • 2. Southern White Supremacy and Black Civil Rights 1863-1877... Having endured the brutality of slavery and the uncertainty of war, America s blacks enjoyed a period of relative respite during the years 1863 1877. With slavery abolished, the South underwent reconstruction within every component of its unsteady structure. However, one must measure the success of this reconstruction with the criteria of political, social and economic changes in mind. The amendments of the 1860s gave blacks greater political freedom, but were only upheld by the military force of the Northern army; blacks developed their first education and religious institutions, but only within a segregated framework; and economically, the black population worked long, hard hours though in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Reconstruction years of 1863 65, a considerable proportion of blacks occupied several Deep South governments. In Louisiana, for example, African Americans made up 42% of the lower and 19% of the upper houses. However, these numbers do not accurately reflect the influence wielded by blacks in this period. Very few blacks held top positions, and in five Southern states no black whatsoever held a major office during reconstruction. Furthermore, one must recognise that this progression came about in an environment of intense pressure, in which any successful blacks were subject to white violence and widespread animosity. Furthermore, once in the house, the blacks found that they had far less speaking time and thus far less influence that their white counterparts. This was a matter of procedure: governmental power is inevitably measured by experience, of which the blacks had none but it is important to note that the black politicians were operating in an environment that was far from equal. Thus, one can see that although blacks made considerable progress into politics, their development was cut short by white activity. Unequal influence inside and violence outside government ensured that the African American politicians were prevented from working effectively even in their limited posts. However, the fact that these people even had the remote chance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Mafia s Influence On Hip Hop The Mafia s influence on Hip Hop In Rap, there is a unique culture, history, social impact and influence on society. Hip Hop/Rap is one of the most popular genre of music. It has helped shape the pop culture into what it is today. What is popular culture? Once this is completed, she must determine the definition and description of each job, which is later used to advertise the position during the hiring process. The word waiting suggests that it is very still and silent in Nebraska. The fourth stanza talks about a shelterbelt of cedars and a visual image is used here to make the trees seem big and protected. An auditory image is used to describe the staring up of the engine of the pick up truck. The 5th stanza the phrase you feel has been repeated several times to elaborate the feeling that the u in the poem is yearning to feel which is laid back and care free. The 5th stanza also suggests that the u in the poem wants to fit into the environment. The phrase tires go flat implies silence and lack of movement. The 5th stanza is also one big long compound complex, which runs into the next stanza to slow the pace and contribute to this feeling of silence. The tone of this stanza is laid back suggesting that the u in the poem wants to be off card and calm. The 6th stanza starts with an onomatopoeic word clucking to describe the various sounds in the environment. • 28. Money Is Not The Answer Evan Zhang Trachtman Honors English 9 2 March 2016 Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the purchase of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in contemporary society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more they want to obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point where there is complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through wealth. Dickens saw this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great Expectations, such as Joe and Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a person, but rather, true inner wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others. Dickens uses the character of Joe to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions and relationships to others. This occurs before Pip has received his expectations, where Joe sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. • 35. The Pros And Cons Of The American Civil War Railroads are not nearly as popular in the United States as they are in European countries. Prior to the American Civil War, railroads were a fairly new, and untried, invention. Compared to carriages and the other modes of transportation at the time, the railroad was far superior. Due to this superiority, they were used to transport soldiers, food, and supplies. A systemic railroad began to spread all across the nation, and both sides of the war used them to their advantage. The railroad construction started as soon as possible. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was founded in 1828 and its first section of rails was open in 1830. At its peak, The B O Railroad spread from the east coast all the way to the Illinois, and was over 5,550 miles long! In 1831, the state of Maryland granted the B O Railroad and charter to begin construction of a line connecting Maryland to Washington D.C. The south, which was mostly a society built on agriculture, was at a huge disadvantage when it came to railroads. Two thirds of all the railroads in the nation at the time were in the north. The southern states couldn t transport anything as easy as the north, and their income mostly relied on the exportation of their crops. Without this source of income, the Confederacy s economy was crippled. Arguably, railroads were the reason for the South s eventual defeat. By 1861, 22,000 miles of track had been laid in the Northern states and 9,500 miles in the South. In the south, there were cities that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Stage 2 the hero is challenged by opposing forces and must pass a series a test throughout the movie. That will then determine who will be victorious, either the hero or the opposing forces.
