Overpopulation Is A Problem Of Overpopulation
People Beget but Land Does Not
Too many people. Too little space. There are already seven and a half billion people walking on the
surfaces of the earth and is believed that there will be 9.6 billion people as of 2050, according to a UN
report. As time passes by, population is rapidly increasing and there will be less space for people to
reside in. Scientists say that this world cannot espouse many people on the next 50 years. This crisis is
fatal that can entirely obliterate the whole humankind. Overpopulation is a problem that every nation
is facing but sometimes over looked by due to lack of understanding and awareness. This is a serious
issue that should be taken care of immediately. Overpopulation is an undesirable situation where the
number of existing human populace surpasses the carrying capability of Earth. There are main factors
that are contributing overpopulation such as the rising birth rate and declining of mortality rate.
Overpopulation occurs when the birth rate surpasses the mortality rate. Birth rate is currently
increasing due unprotected and premarital sex. Every day, as estimated by UNICEF, there are 350,000
babies being born. That means 255 mothers are giving birth per minute or 4.3 babies are born per
second. While death rate is diminishing because of the technology that improved created better
medical treatments and developed high standard of public health. The number of babies born should
be equal to the number of people that die in order for the

Katherine Mansfield s Mrs. Brill
When reading Miss Brill written by Katherine Mansfield. The story starts off in the perspective of
Mrs. Brill a elderly lady wearing a fur coat. This is when the story starts to progress, Mrs. Brill
decides to wear her fur coat to the public garden. She then proceeds to sit in the garden on a bench and
observe the various foot traffic. She would sit and observe and listen to the peoples conversation
without them noticing her ease dropping. The garden was quite busy that day due to the band that
usually plays there playing so beautifully. An elderly couple come and sit by Mrs. Brill on the bench,
they were not interesting to Mrs. Brill. Mrs. Brill started to notice that the people on Sundays were
usually very odd, they looked very pale like they had been in a cupboard all week and only came out
for fresh air. Two girls then walked by Mrs. Brill they were accompanied by two ... Show more

Brill is a average story but it means a lot more than the words tell and about the way people effect
others without even knowing it. The beginning of the story starts off pretty slow but then picks up
towards the middle. I was growing a little weary of the immense detail throughout the story. When
Mrs. Brill was making snap judgements about the other characters I started to dislike her more and
more. I still remained to like Mrs. Brill although the author makes it difficult felt her presence was
hindering their mood. But in all reality Mrs. Brill was just sitting in a public area and happened to
make the girl feel uncomfortable, while the young couple instead of just moving places responded in a
ill manner ruining the rest of her day. Over all I find the story mediocre but with a good moral and
ethical agenda.to like her because of all her faults. Towards the end of the story I feel that the author
got the most influential part of the story, how the last set of teenagers are boysterious towards Mrs.
Brill for the fact that they picked up on the idea that she was observing them and that

Teach Live Experience
Going into the Teach Live session I was very excited and could not wait to experience what it would
be like to teach a real lesson. At first when hearing about the assignment I thought to myself this was
going to be hard for me to do. This is so because I am a very shy and closed off person, my voice gets
shaky when I have to speak in front of a group, and I have never done anything such as a Teach Life
lesson before. The day of the Teach Live I was jittery and elated that whole day, I just knew I was
going to kill it. I arrived 15 minutes early and Mr. C made sure I felt very comfortable and was ready.
While sitting there preparing to teach the lesson I had chosen, fear and nervousness swept over me and
I began to worry. A few minutes before I began the Teach Live session all the fear and negativity left
my mind and body. Then when the session began and I saw the virtual students a smile grew on my
face, sending a cooling, calm sensation through my body.
I found this experience very helpful. It gave me that final confirmation that I need in deciding if
teaching students was how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Teaching a lesson, learning, and
gaining experience before entering an actual classroom, I feel is what every education major should
experience. I loved the Teach Live session, it is a great way to rid all of the nervousness, help you
learn from your mistakes, and better prepare you for your future of becoming a teacher. If you happen

The Wave Susan Casey Summary
The average person would not pick up a scientific book and have a yearning urge to read it. It is the
author s job to captivate their audience s attention as quickly as possible. In the book The Wave by
Susan Casey, she does an amazing job at captivating her audience s attention. From the very first
sentence Casey tells us an epic story about waves. She throws you right into the middle of a storm
right in front of a huge wave measuring 100 feet tall. It is clear that survival is not guaranteed but in
the end the crew of Discovery makes it out alive, able to talk about their encounter with a monster of
the ocean. Right after this adrenaline pumping story, Casey goes on to tell the reader other eyewitness
accounts of these rogue waves. Yet she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luckily for the crew of the vessel was able to make it out alive and actually report their encounter
with a 100 foot wave. This trip led to finding the largest wave ever scientifically recorded in the open
ocean. The next account comes from a very reliable source, Ernest Shackleton. Shackleton rode on a
ship called Endurance; it was on this ship that Shackleton would venture to Antarctica where he would
come across a wave so large he thought he was looking at the sky. He was lucky to have made it out
alive from this storm. Casey next talks about the 850 foot cargo ship München, this ship was built to
be unsinkable it was the German Merchant Navy s state of the art flagship. To everyone s surprise an
S.O.S. message was received that the ship had suffered great damage from a wave. Even with 110
ships and 13 aircrafts looking for it, it was never found. In 1933, a naval officer aboard the USS
Ramapo saw a huge wave in the Pacific and made some trigonometric calculations that estimated the
wave to be about 112 feet high. On January 1, 1995 Statoil s Draupner oil drilling platform were being
hit by large waves 38 feet tall, then a huge 85 foot wave hit the rig causing moderate damage to the
platform. This was the first confirmed measurement of a rogue wave. In 1982 the Ocean Ranger was
struck by a wave which destroyed the rig and left no survivors. The rig was built to withstand 110 foot
seas and 115 mile per hour winds, it was deemed indestructible. The wave that hit it took it as a
challenge and sank the whole rig instantly killing 84 people who were onboard. On March, 1973 two
bulk carriers were lost within one hour of each other in the same span of the North

[Germany] is renowned for being home to some of the most charming looking towns in all of Europe.
Cities like [Cologne], [Dresden] and [Koblenz] (to name but a few) are postcard perfect treasures, yet
among all of them, you may be hard pressed to find one which is as enticing as Regensburg. The town
which sits on the confluence of three rivers (the Danube, Regen and Naab) is one of Germany s oldest
and seems to have the best of everything. Its stunning UNESCO listed centre is simply superb, the
cobblestone alleyways, imposing cathedral and myriad of other architectural gems make it an absolute

Discourse Community Definition
We now know what would be the necessary threshold levels for members who wish to join in such a
community, but now we must realize the rest of the questions that need to be answered when talking
about the discourse communities. But, what is a discourse community? Well, by definition, a discourse
community is a group of individuals whom share similar ideals to one another, and are able to
communicate with one another so that they all may be able to achieve a goal. However, as any other
term within the English dictionary, there is something more than what was stated to be the definition.
And John Malcolm Swales, a linguist best known for his work on genre analysis, would agree with
that train of thought. He had stated that when it comes to a

Sociology Of Violence
Aggression and war typically are not seen in various forms. One could argue that war is not always
where violent acts are seen, in the sense of cold wars, so it is can also be said to be a stage for
aggressive, rather than violent, acts. However, violence has multiple variations including: mental
violence, symbolic violence, and lastly as studied, political violence, that cultural anthropologists have
significantly improved the understanding of. Before delving into the different categories of violence, it
is important to understand that the uses of violence also vary. When examining violence, it is crucial
to discern the action from the perspective of the perpetrator. (Hansen, 367) As seen in Riches dynamic
triangle of violence, those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, violence does not need to be a physical act, it can also be mental or symbolic. This is someone s
ability to maintain a permanent hold on another person based on economic or practical commitments.
(Hansen, 369) Many scholars will find this does not classify being labeled as violence. However,
symbolic violence is something that is consistently seen in states. Symbolic violence is an important
tool commonly used by states in the ordering of relationships of superiors and inferiors. States are able
to justify their infliction of terror by saying their own actions are just a reaction to the symbolic
violence that is implicit in opposition. (Nagengast, 111) This is where we begin to see the topic of
political violence finally discussed. First and foremost, it is important to clarify that political violence
may or may not be direct violence. (Nagengast, 114) A state may take actions such as limiting food
sent to poorer people, hurting their chances of survival without actually physically hurting them. State
violence can be referred to by using the term terror. Terror is used by the states in order to maintain the

Bone Of Blood And Macbeth Comparison

Destruction of Ambition and Power Throne of Blood and Macbeth have many similarities and
differences. These similarities and differences are shown through themes, characters, and plot. The
themes are similar because it is light vs dark. The characters are similar because of the supernatural
aspect, the insane wives, and the reluctant murder of the King and Lord. Macbeth takes actions that
have serious and destructive consequences for himself and for other characters in the play just like
Washizu in Throne of Blood. Once Macbeth and Washizu have committed an act in which they use
power for negative consequences, they both find it extremely difficult to keep themselves from going

In opposition, there was not a clearly defined reason found in Throne of Blood. Macduff acted as a
representation of a righteous man, someone that put the benefit of others before his. Although Macduff
once admired Macbeth, he turned malicious after Macbeth murdered his family. In the play, he acted
as a judge of all evil acts. In Throne of Blood, Kurosawa purposely left the character anonymous. He
focused mostly on the inner struggle of the man and the morals that once governed Washizu which
turned into his greatest enemy after he started to murder. Washizu s attitude gave little information
about his thought process, but it was clarified through the symbolism of nature. The change of
atmosphere showed how he was losing his mind. When his wife turned crazy, lightning split the sky in
two. As the forest approached, darkness shadowed the whole city. These foreshadowed the coming
events and the confusion that was going on in his head. He was waiting for an enemy to challenge
him, but his ignorance led to his

Sexual Abuse And Bulimia Nervosa
Victims of sexual abuse may develop eating disorders in order to cope with their traumatic
experiences that they may have suffered from their loved one. In many cases, it has been reported that
there are larger cases of bulimia nervosa in victims of sexual abuse than anorexia nervosa. As
according to Wonderlich et al. s study, those who have been sexually assaulted as a child have some
stronger relations with bulimia nervosa than anorexia nervosa. Studies conducted by Bushmell et al.
(1992) and Pribor and Dinwiddie (1992), both found frequent cases of bulimia nervosa compared to
anorexia nervosa among the eating disorder rates of sexually abused victims. Additionally, as

Secondly, women who have been a victim of childhood sexual abuse and adult rape had even a larger
rate of eating disorders compared to those who have not (Fischer et al., 2010, pg.190). For instance, a
woman who has been sexually abused may be blamed for the incident, as many individuals in society
would claim that the woman was appealing and showing a bit too much than she should be, or the
woman was asking for the abuse to happen. In these circumstances, a woman may take these
comments really seriously towards herself and thus begin to change herself, as mentioned before, in
order to not feel guilty for what had happened. Thus, concentrating on her eating habits, which could
lead to binge eating and eventually self purging after a heavy meal to feel satisfied with herself.
Therefore, victims of sexual abuse are more likely to develop bulimia nervosa than anorexia nervosa
since the victim is able to take control and use their bulimia has an excuse to feel better about

In the beginning of the novel the narrator appears to be young girl who has recently finished school.
She is shy, uncertain, and quiet. The narrator seems to shy away from the spotlight when first talking
to Mr. de Winter. As she gets to know him a little bit she opens up and soon becomes smitten for him.
The narrator uncharacteristically takes a reckless chance and becomes the new Mrs. de Winter. After
having fun on the honeymoon, she becomes bashful and timid once she arrives at Manderley. Mrs.
Danvers even frightens her. She dislikes when people come to call, and becomes extremely nervous
before the big party. The strain of living in Rebecca s shadow negatively impacts the narrator by
making her more uncertain as she tries to follow in Rebecca s footsteps. At the turning point in the
novel Maxim confesses he murdered Rebecca and that he never truly loved her at all. This sends Mrs.
de Winter into shock. After what Maxim says finally sinks in the narrator changes. She becomes
hardened by the information but also gains courage from the fact that Rebecca was a horrible person.
Soon after even Mrs. Danvers and the ghost Rebecca do little to faze her. The strain and stress of the
resulting inquiry only strengths her. She falls deeper in love with Maxim and finds inner purpose and
courage. By the end of the novel the narrator is a strong, experienced woman. Mrs. de Winter goes

Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease
Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a
congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells in
the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension. Also
known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly of a very
vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise healthy
babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital heart
defects. Functional outcomes, thanks to contemporary medical advances, are generally successful. As
medical professionals, nurses play a significant role in helping patients achieve therapeutic goals.
Therapeutic goals also include a level of psychological wellness in living with persistent bowel
dysfunction after Hirschsprung surgery but few, if any, studies have addressed this likelihood.
Focusing on the results after definitive surgical repair of Hirschsprung disease, the journal article, An
example of psychological adjustment in chronic illness: Hirschsprung s disease by Athanasakos,
Starling, Ross, Nunn, and Cass, identifies outcomes in terms of psychiatric health. The primary aim of
this study was to report overall outcomes after Hirschsprung surgery and to address the impact of the
disease on the optimism for a normal life. Fecal soiling was identified as the most common problem

Introduction: AUV s are improving and technologically advancing to allow scientists and deep sea
researchers to explore the vast unknown of the underwater world. AUV s are automated underwater
vehicles that can explore bodies of water without the influence of an external control source. Although

The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a
major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous
system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge
importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be
exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The
thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer,
which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can
induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different
components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge
influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the
natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread
system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the
beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the
freezing conditions in the Northern

The Art Scene Of Tucson, And All Over The World
Creativity and art is becoming such a rising normality in our everyday culture. A new mural with a
political statement is popping up every other week. A person visiting the local pizza joint downtown
can look up on the wall and see a piece of art with a price tag next to it. A local artist painted it and
where else to get public attention than Brooklyn Pizza, in the heart of buzzing downtown. The art
scene is growing quickly, and thanks to the creative means, so is the opportunity for aspiring artists.
Whether it be a political, personal, local, environmental, or just showing U of A pride, local murals
and art are popping up and displaying the creativity of fellow Tucsonans. Art in Tucson, and all over
the world, sets a name for the city, brings the people together and defines a culture. There s such a hub
of cultural exchange here, with Native Americans, Mexican Americans. There really is a lot going on
in the arts (Busler). Local and community art galleries have been around, and are on the rise; Murals,
too, are creating business interest, and create an outlet for creativity. Art shows and auctions get more
artists out into the world, as well as their inspirational pieces. This art scene is only going to grow, and
opportunity along with it. Culture is the puzzle piece in this scene. Cultural diversity is a social good
and the wellspring of free expression. Cultural equity means full inclusion, participation, and power

Cutaneous Leishmaniasis
Leishmaniasis is a parasitic infection that effects 15 to 20 million people globally each year. It is
mainly found in the Tropics, Subtropics, and Southern Europe. Most infections are the result of the
bite of an infected female sandfly, but it can also be delivered in vitro or by the use of contaminated
needles. Leishmania are digenetic. This means that it requires two hosts to complete it s life cycle. For
leishmania the two hosts are an invertebrate and an vertibrate. The female sand fly is the invertebrate
host. When the fly is infected, the leishmania are in promastigote form. A promastigote is extra

incubation period once infected is typically two to three months, but it can range from two weeks to

symptoms are simular to cutaneous leishmaniasis except specifically affecting the mucosal membrane.

The Catcher in the Rye, a novel written by J.D. Salinger, follows the short journey in which a teenage
boy is coming to terms with his encroaching adulthood. Holden, the main character, has been kicked
out of a private school for the third time. In New York, he is on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Holden is reluctant to act on the obvious solution of returning home and feels discombobulation

William Paley s Views Of The Evidence Of Christianity
William Paley
I. Abstract:
Born in Peterborough, England in July 1743, William Paley was a natural philosopher and wrote many
books on Christianity. Before working his way through the ranks of the Anglican Church, Paley
graduated first of his class from Christ s College in Cambridge in 1763, became a deacon in 1765, and
was appointed assistant curate by a tutor of the college in 1766. He opposed slavery, advocated for
prison reform, and was a utilitarian. He believed that humans act morally to increase their overall level
of happiness. Paley had eight children with his wife, Jane Hewitt married in 1776. He was a very
popular preacher publishing many lectures and books and is considered one of England s most
important theologians of his generation. William Paley died on May 25th, 1805 and is currently buried

Avoiding A Future Of Crippling Car Congestion
AVOIDING A FUTURE OF CRIPPLING CAR CONGESTION
Bill Ford, the chairman of Ford Motors, spoke at the 2012 Mobile world congress where he outlined a
plan for connected cars to help avoid traffic congestion. Connected cars he explained are vehicles
linked to various mobile networks and intelligent systems and capable of M2M communication
(Efraim Turban, 2013). During his address in Barcelona, Ford explained to the delegates that the
number of cars on the world s roads is forecasted to grow from 1 billion now to up to 4 billion in the
next few years and The proposed solution to avoid the potential problem of a global gridlock due to

be determined largely by customer acceptance of new technologies. This blueprint sets short and long

The Patent Of CD Mounting Apparatus For Portable...
Chase Dunn was granted the patent of CD Mounting Apparatus for Portable Electronic Device on
December 6, 2007, patent number US20070278274A1. There are two patents for mounting devices
for vehicles, however, they come with the hazards of either having to permanently altering the
dashboard or risk the loss of bonding to the windshield. Along with the negative aesthetics and
limiting the viewing area of the driver concerning these other devices. This patent deals with the safe
and easy handling of portable electron devices (PEDs) by drivers of vehicles. PEDs concern mp3
players, iPod, cell phones, satellite radios, and other audio sources. The device makes use of the
limited space in vehicles dashboard area for a personal device ... Show more content on

The bracket portion is attached to the mounting portion and extends out from the dashboard with a wat
to attach the PED at the end. To attach the PED clips/a basket, or a flat surface facing the driver with
Velcro can be used allowing easy securement of the PED. The complete device using clips/a basket for
the PED securement is shown in figure 1 on the left. Contained in the patent are six other figures
besides the one shown in Figure 1 that show different embodiments of the invention in perspective,
cross section side, and top down views. This patent protects many different items relating to this
electronic mounting device. The main protection covers a device made of three elements: part that is
inserted into a CD player, one that extends outward attached to the first, and one that has a way to
attach a PED to the second. This device is used in vehicles and is located in front of the audio controls
on that vehicles dashboard. The first element can be either wedge shaped or comprised of two parallel
plates capable of separation, and can be adjusted either manually or automatically. Extending from the
first is the second element in a coplanar arrangement and the whole device can be made of a flexible
material so the PED can be adjusted for the best location per person and different CD player
arrangements. The device to hold and/or secure the PED is a

Compare And Contrast A Secret Sorrow And A Sorrowful Woman
Love conquers all, or at the very least, that s what many romance novels want people to believe. A
Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee, which tells the tale of Faye and her struggle to commit to Kai
after an accident leaves her unable to reproduce, is a perfect example of this. The Sorrowful Woman
by Gail Godwin, on the other hand, is a dark fairy tale about a woman whose life is only made worse
by marriage and motherhood. At first glance, these stories may seem completely different. On further
examination, A Secret Sorrow and A Sorrowful Woman share both similarities and differences in tone,
theme, and gender roles that lead to the latter story being a much better piece of literature.
First of all, the tones these stories employ really set them apart. In A Secret Sorrow, the tone is happy
and hopeful optimistic. Despite everything Faye has gone through such as finding out she can t have
kids she still gets her happily ever after. They adopt kids, and at the very end, as she s lying in bed
with Kai, van der Zee writes, And in the warm afterglow of lovemaking, their bodies close together,
she knew that to him she was everything, to him she was the only woman, beautiful, complete, whole
(38). This is the ending that many girls dream of, and despite the conflict, the story remains light
hearted for the most part. In contrast, in A Sorrowful Woman, the tone is much darker and pessimistic.
The woman never gets her happily ever after. Instead, the son has to watch his

Descriptive Essay About Roller Coaster
A Rollercoaster Ride
I was standing in line with my sister and cousin waiting to get on the Viper . We were at Six Flags
having already been in the long line an hour and a half. We all went on our favorite rides, then we
decided to go on the roller coaster. This was going to be my very first ever roller coaster in my life.
Then the rollercoaster conductor told us to get in the coaster. I jumped in, put my seatbelt on and
listened to the safety precautions. Then the conductor pressed the button and we were off.
My sister, Anna, said in a soft voice, so she would not wake up my brother Drew, Wake up. Wake up
Andrew. We need to pick up Melissa.
I was still drowsing, but I was awake. I got my clothes on, and then went to get my phone and ... Show

Anna told me after one of the rides, Hey, we should ride a roller coaster.
I do not want to ride one though. They look big and scary. I responded
Just trust me. It will be fun. My sister said.
So we all decided to go on the Viper and we went to the area where it was located and we hopped in
line. It said on the board a 1 and a half hour wait, so luckily I still had battery on my phone. Time
passed and we got onto the roller coaster. I got in the very front of the coaster and put my seatbelt on. I
was as nervous as I would ever be in my life. I was sweating because of how nervous I was. The voice
told us about the precautions of the roller coaster that I had already heard a million times before
standing in line.
Then the roller coaster jerked forward and we were off. We went up slowly and I was ready for a big
drop. I closed my eyes and then the roller coaster suddenly went down. I had this weird feeling inside
of my gut. It was extremely fast and really high up. It took multiple turns and drops and I closed my
eyes for all of the drops. Then the roller coaster suddenly went slower and we were at the start of the
ride. I got off and met with my sister and cousin.
See it was not that bad. My sister told me.
Nope, I am never riding a roller coaster ever again in my life. I responded back.
We rode some more rides after the coaster and then we had to meet up with

had more thorough inspections been done. There have been well over 520* deadly crashes in drag

Media, Violence, And Violence Essay
Violent crime statistics is continually increasing overtime, and there are a wide variety of factors that
contribute to this. One influencing factor would be the media. Media and violence are both very wide
and broad concepts that have massive impacts in our society, and it is important to distinguish their
relationship with each other. The types of media are things such as violent video games, films,
newspapers, magazines and television. One particular type of media that is often very problematized is
violent video games. Different studies have shown convincing and unconvincing correlational in
regards to the media and violence, but to whom do we believe?
The media, especially in today s modern society surrounds us all the time. It affects our daily lives and
has become part of our everyday routines, which is why it has such a huge impact on us, and violent
media is everywhere. It is known that by the time we get to our eighteenth birthday, we will have seen
and witnessed about 200,000 violent acts and about 16,000 murders (Media Education Foundation,
2005). There have been ongoing controversial debates as to whether violent media exposure
contributes to violent and aggressive behaviours and whether one is caused by the other. Violence
includes, but is not limited to things such as murder, assault, homicide, shootings, property offence,
rape and assault. The mainstream and popular notion has been that violent video games make people

Compare and contrast of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein
Pop Art was a popular movement that formed in the 1950 s in Britain, and later formed in the united
states. When you think about pop art you think about three dimensional art. Well Pop art is not about
the form of the picture. Pop art is like an advertisement, news magazines and comic books that catch
the people s eyes. There were many artists like Eduardo Paolozzi, Richard Hamilton, and Robert
Rauschenberg, who presented pop art to the world especially in the united states. Pop art is also not
about the pictures and how bright and colorful it is. Pop art is really about what message is provoked
to the viewers.
Andy Warhol was a well known artist during the pop art movement. He was born in a big city named
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1928. Andy Warhol attended a college named Carnegie Institute
of Technology. After graduating from college in 1949 he made his first project for Glamour magazine.
While in New York, Warhol created window displays and advertising for the local New York retailers.
One of Warhol works that made him locally famous was his blotted line advertisement he did with
Miller and Sons. The advertisement even won him several awards from the Art Directors Club and the
American Institute of Graphic Arts. Warhol wasn t just an artist, he was also an American Draftsman,

How Does Hitchcock Use Suspense In The Birds
The birds compare and contrast essay While reading/watching both du Maurier s The Birds and
Hitchcock s The Birds, they both used suspense to enhance the story/plot. However, Hitchcock s does
a better job at creating and utilizing the element of suspense using pace, timing, and continuity. Alfred
Hitchcock uses suspense by slowing the movie down so it makes the audience wait and wait until the
climax appears and gives a more dramatic feeling. For example in the scene were the number of birds
keep on increasing as Melanie Daniels innocently sits on the bench next to the school. This is
suspenseful because as she sits we see the birds rapidly increasing but she is completely clueless. Thus
in du Maurier s The Birds she does not use the slow suspense in fact she has action in the begging of
her story. For example, children flung themselves, screaming, upon him, while in the darkness the
birds rose and dived and came for him again. (Page5). This shows that she goes straight out and doesn
t keep the action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when all the birds came fluttering out of the chimney exactly when you think they
would. This is suspenseful because you could hear sound of suicide birds hitting the house and you
knew something was going to happen. This was not shown by du Maurier s story because she used
very detailed descriptions and each part of the story followed a sequence. For example when she
explains that Jill was being attacked and then another room was attacked and so forth. This is shown
when she writes, Nat lit the candle, but when he opened the bedroom door to cross the passage the
draft blew out the flame. There came a second cry of terror, this time from both children (4). This
explains that she couldn t use timing because it was a book but she instead wrote horrifying events
that led up to one big one. Therefor Alfred s The Birds, was more

Legal Issues Of The Lawsuit Filed By The Creditors
In the lawsuit filed by the creditors in order to recover their money, there are a few legal issues. They
major question here is whose assets can the creditors go after Double J Branding, Jana, or Jamal?
More in depth questions that need to be answered for this lawsuit are was the limited partnership valid
and was Jamal considered the limited partner at the time of the transaction? Also did the loan officer
and real estate agent believe in good faith that Jamal was a general partner at the time of the
transaction? Many rules are included and must be followed in order for a limited partnership to be
valid and to work properly. A limited partnership is a type of partnership that has two types of partners
a general partner and a limited partner. The general partner of a limited partnership invests capital and
manages the business. The general partner has unlimited liability which means they are personally
liable for the debts and obligations of the limited partnership. The limited partner in a limited
partnership invests capital but does not participate in management. The limited partner has limited
liability, which means they are only liable for the debts and obligations of the limited partnership up to
their capital contributions but they are not personally liable.
The partners of a limited partnership must complete and sign a certificate of limited partnership, thus
making the partnership legal and binding. An incorrect creation of a limited partnership is called a

Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds Essay
Hypotheses On the Origin of Birds
Since the advent of the theory of evolution the origin of birds has been a thriving topic in science.
Many ideas and hypotheses have been presented, but only two stand today: that birds are descendents
of ancient thecodont stem reptiles, and that birds are the direct descendents of a group of dinosaurs
known as the coelurosaurs. Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on
information obtained from the fossil record. There is not enough evidence at this time to determine
which hypothesis, if either, is right. Only more hard work by scientists will tell. Until then we have
only speculation, but speculation based in observed evidence.
The origin of birds is one of the great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include the
largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a theropod:
hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes
(foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on
the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the
group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two
groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group
can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000).
The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the
ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles
with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs,
including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000).
The Theropod Hypothesis
The theropod hypothesis puts the entry of birds into the evolutionary arena after the line of descent
had continued from thecodonts to the saurischian dinosaurs and their subsequent split into

It is no longer deemed a safe way to bring in a show with lots of preview performances due to the fact
that as soon as an audience have seen the first preview they are able to write on many different
platforms their opinions, whether they be positive or negative critique. James Seabright suggests in his
book So You Want To Be A Theatre Producer? that it needs to be the producers main concern that the
show is ready for public viewing from the day of the first preview as it is so much easier to get word
around about a show using the likes of Facebook and Twitter (Seabright, 2010). Although Andrew
Lloyd Webber was offended by this newfound love of social media, there is no embargo for paying
audiences (Sadler, 2014). It can either fall as a friend or a foe depending on how the audience receives
it, if Twitter and blogs are bursting with positivity then the producers need to use this to continue the
hype until reviews from critics are released, and if these don t speak too well then social media can
just be pushed even more (O Hanlon, 2014). It may start to become a matter of fact that previews are
more important than the official opening night. According to a survey conducted by Ticketmaster,
almost one quarter of theatre goers tweet about the performances they have seen proving that theatres
need to be latching onto this free publicity, that is if the tweets are of a positive nature

Technology And Its Effects On Aphasia Patients
B. Thesis: While technology plays a huge role in many aspects of Aphasia research, in the field of
Aphasia treatment, the use of technology is still largely developing. AAC technology has a lot of
potential to aid in the communication abilities of Aphasia patients, however, currently its use in
aphasia treatment is not as efficient as its benefits in aphasia patients do not seem to be generalizable
to real life communication outside of the treatment setting. II. Background A. What is Aphasia? 1.
Aphasia is typically caused by damage to the portion of the brain that is primarily responsible for
language. It is a communication disorder that can results in impaired speech and language
comprehension. 2. Aphasia does not present itself in the same way for everybody. Depending on the
kind of damage suffered, it can vary throughout patient s (Jacobs et al., 2004). a) Language production
may be very limited cannot speak fluently b) Some may have more trouble with comprehension
aspects speak fluently but words used don t make sense used incorrectly c) Because it is related to
brain damage, there are other cognitive deficits that may be associated with aphasia, depending on the
type of damage. 3. Every individual patient with chronic aphasia differs, which means treatment has to
be flexible and adaptable to the patient. B. What is AAC? 1. Augmentative and Alternative

Part Iv Issues On Chinese Language Teaching
Part IV Issues on Chinese Language Teaching
As a state school situated in a low SES area, Loganlea SHS s vocational education outperforms its
academic education. Its disadvantaged geographic location make it very hard for the school to
promote literacy and numeracy development among the majority of vocational students who are with
low level of general skills and academic aspirations and lack of motivations. It is likely that subjects
with cognitive engagement would not attract students by nature.
Loganlea SHS is my second practicum placement. In this school, my teaching subject is Mandarin
(Chinese). At Loganlea SHS, Chinese language subject is offered to students from Year 7 to Year 12.
Compared to other second languages, Chinese is very difficult for English speakers to learn, because
the language system and grammar structure are totally different from English. It is highly likely that
the level of difficulty can challenge students confidence and capability and demotivate students
eventually. Moreover, students in low SES families and area tend to have low self efficacy and
motivations in learning. Low expectations on education may exert negative influence on their
academic performance. In addition, relative low level of literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills
among a large number of students at Loganlea SHS may inhibit their second language acquisition
process. These factors may exert negative influence on student learning process and their behaviors
management. It

Obstacles In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath gives an in depth reality to how life should be lived even with the obstacles you
overcome. This is explained in the novel through the Joad family. The Joad family consists of a weak
family that is about to lose their land in Oklahoma. There was no work for them in their home state
due to the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. This leads them to take a chance and journey to
California for work. Although, they overcome many obstacles they learn new skills and strengthen
their family. The story takes place in the 1930 s in the states of Oklahoma and California. At this time
the United States is under a Great Depression and some states are experiencing a great drought, most
commonly known as the Dust Bowl. Citizens experienced great struggles that no one should ever go
through. Some of these include: no food, no income, no shelter or eviction, death and loss of loved
ones. Banks breathe profits; they eat interest on money. If they don t get it, they die the way you die

Nelson on Descartes s Theory of Perception and Judgment
Nelson on Descartes?s Theory of Perception and Judgment
ABSTRACT: One tension in Descartes?s account of human error stems from the idea that we may be
faulted for our acts of will, despite the fact that God is our omnipotent and omniscient creator. In the
present essay, I describe a second tension in Descartes?s account of human error. After describing the
tension, I consider Alan Nelson?s characterization of the means by which Descartes?s intended to
relieve it. Although Nelson s interpretation is almost correct, I think that it obscures some of the
interesting details of Descartes?s theory of perception and judgment. These details are revealed by the
taxonomy of sensory responses that Descartes articulates in the Sixth Set of Replies ... Show more

In cases of false perceptual judgment, is it not the faculty of intellect that so seductively offers up false
propositions whose subject matter so clearly concerns our environs? As Descartes himself concedes,
the objects of perception include the ideas of size, shape, and motion, and of other properties that are
referred to objects outside of the mind.2 If the will and intellect, respectively, contribute the neustic
and phrastic components of judgment, then it appears that the intellect (and hence God) is
blameworthy in cases of erroneous perceptual judgment.
II.
In his paper, Descartes?s Ontology of Thought, Alan Nelson attempts to give an interpretation of
Descartes?s theory of perception and judgment that extricates Descartes from the tension associated
with explaining human error.3 On Nelson?s interpretation, Descartes maintained that false perceptual
judgments are ultimately the result of confused ideas, which have their origin in past determinations of
the will. In turn, Nelson supposes that confused sensory ideas can subsequently come to be the
customary result of the impact of external objects, and thereby result in the spontaneous dispensing of
false propositions by the intellect.
Nelson?s interpretation has a lot going for it. First, it appears to relieve the apparent tension in
Descartes?s account of error. Indeed, by characterizing false perceptual judgment as the result of
confused ideas and tracing the source

Gillian Clark Women In Late Antiquity Summary
Gillian Clark s book on, Women in Late Antiquity: Pagan and Christian Lifestyles is a patchwork
constructed from the legal and medical texts of the era. Clark makes it abundantly clear; that this book
is like a kaleidoscope of the somewhat colorful and comical limited written knowledge of women of
the period. In most cases the history was recorded by the biased slant of the male dominated society.
Clark points out in her introduction, The goal is to give some basic information on women s lives in
late antiquity, and to make a start on answering some fundamental questions: to what extent could
women choose what to do? What social, practical, or legal constraints limited their choices? What
options were available besides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may have been that women were supposed to get married and have children, is this not what they
have been taught and trained for since inception, conception, and birth , was this not their greatest
desire (13). It is not as if a woman had an abundance of career or professional choices. Marriage was a
capital transaction and mostly an arraigned one at that. It is interesting to note that formal betrothal
was the age of seven and legal validity of a girl getting married as early as the age of twelve to any
warm body male (14). Moreover, a male was not expected to get married until he became a man; the
age seems to vary, starting around seventeen and upwards. Also, the women were the under her father
s yoke (potestas) (14) until his death and only then did she become legally independent (15). Could
this be part of society s means of controlling women through the dominance of being beholden and
controlled by a male patriarchal society, with the mindset, of procreation and promotion of the family
lineage always at the forefront of so called

There are already seven and a half billion people walking on the surfaces of the earth and is believed that there will be 9.6 billion people as of 2050, according to a UN report. As time passes by, population is rapidly increasing and there will be less space for people to reside in. Scientists say that this world cannot espouse many people on the next 50 years. This crisis is fatal that can entirely obliterate the whole humankind. Overpopulation is a problem that every nation is facing but sometimes over looked by due to lack of understanding and awareness. This is a serious issue that should be taken care of immediately. Overpopulation is an undesirable situation where the number of existing human populace surpasses the carrying capability of Earth. There are main factors that are contributing overpopulation such as the rising birth rate and declining of mortality rate. Overpopulation occurs when the birth rate surpasses the mortality rate. Birth rate is currently increasing due unprotected and premarital sex. Every day, as estimated by UNICEF, there are 350,000 babies being born. That means 255 mothers are giving birth per minute or 4.3 babies are born per second. While death rate is diminishing because of the technology that improved created better medical treatments and developed high standard of public health. • 3. Katherine Mansfield s Mrs. Brill When reading Miss Brill written by Katherine Mansfield. The story starts off in the perspective of Mrs. Brill a elderly lady wearing a fur coat. This is when the story starts to progress, Mrs. Brill decides to wear her fur coat to the public garden. She then proceeds to sit in the garden on a bench and observe the various foot traffic. She would sit and observe and listen to the peoples conversation without them noticing her ease dropping. The garden was quite busy that day due to the band that usually plays there playing so beautifully. An elderly couple come and sit by Mrs. Brill on the bench, they were not interesting to Mrs. Brill. Brill is a average story but it means a lot more than the words tell and about the way people effect others without even knowing it. The beginning of the story starts off pretty slow but then picks up towards the middle. I was growing a little weary of the immense detail throughout the story. When Mrs. Brill was making snap judgements about the other characters I started to dislike her more and more. I still remained to like Mrs. Brill although the author makes it difficult felt her presence was hindering their mood. But in all reality Mrs. Brill was just sitting in a public area and happened to make the girl feel uncomfortable, while the young couple instead of just moving places responded in a ill manner ruining the rest of her day. Over all I find the story mediocre but with a good moral and ethical agenda.to like her because of all her faults. Towards the end of the story I feel that the author got the most influential part of the story, how the last set of teenagers are boysterious towards Mrs. Brill for the fact that they picked up on the idea that she was observing them and that ... At first when hearing about the assignment I thought to myself this was going to be hard for me to do. This is so because I am a very shy and closed off person, my voice gets shaky when I have to speak in front of a group, and I have never done anything such as a Teach Life lesson before. The day of the Teach Live I was jittery and elated that whole day, I just knew I was going to kill it. I arrived 15 minutes early and Mr. C made sure I felt very comfortable and was ready. While sitting there preparing to teach the lesson I had chosen, fear and nervousness swept over me and I began to worry. A few minutes before I began the Teach Live session all the fear and negativity left my mind and body. Then when the session began and I saw the virtual students a smile grew on my face, sending a cooling, calm sensation through my body. I found this experience very helpful. It gave me that final confirmation that I need in deciding if teaching students was how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Teaching a lesson, learning, and gaining experience before entering an actual classroom, I feel is what every education major should experience. I loved the Teach Live session, it is a great way to rid all of the nervousness, help you learn from your mistakes, and better prepare you for your future of becoming a teacher. It is the author s job to captivate their audience s attention as quickly as possible. In the book The Wave by Susan Casey, she does an amazing job at captivating her audience s attention. From the very first sentence Casey tells us an epic story about waves. She throws you right into the middle of a storm right in front of a huge wave measuring 100 feet tall. It is clear that survival is not guaranteed but in the end the crew of Discovery makes it out alive, able to talk about their encounter with a monster of the ocean. Luckily for the crew of the vessel was able to make it out alive and actually report their encounter with a 100 foot wave. This trip led to finding the largest wave ever scientifically recorded in the open ocean. The next account comes from a very reliable source, Ernest Shackleton. Shackleton rode on a ship called Endurance; it was on this ship that Shackleton would venture to Antarctica where he would come across a wave so large he thought he was looking at the sky. He was lucky to have made it out alive from this storm. Casey next talks about the 850 foot cargo ship München, this ship was built to be unsinkable it was the German Merchant Navy s state of the art flagship. To everyone s surprise an S.O.S. message was received that the ship had suffered great damage from a wave. Even with 110 ships and 13 aircrafts looking for it, it was never found. In 1933, a naval officer aboard the USS Ramapo saw a huge wave in the Pacific and made some trigonometric calculations that estimated the wave to be about 112 feet high. On January 1, 1995 Statoil s Draupner oil drilling platform were being hit by large waves 38 feet tall, then a huge 85 foot wave hit the rig causing moderate damage to the platform. This was the first confirmed measurement of a rogue wave. In 1982 the Ocean Ranger was struck by a wave which destroyed the rig and left no survivors. The rig was built to withstand 110 foot seas and 115 mile per hour winds, it was deemed indestructible. The wave that hit it took it as a challenge and sank the whole rig instantly killing 84 people who were onboard. But, what is a discourse community? Well, by definition, a discourse community is a group of individuals whom share similar ideals to one another, and are able to communicate with one another so that they all may be able to achieve a goal. However, as any other term within the English dictionary, there is something more than what was stated to be the definition. One could argue that war is not always where violent acts are seen, in the sense of cold wars, so it is can also be said to be a stage for aggressive, rather than violent, acts. However, violence has multiple variations including: mental violence, symbolic violence, and lastly as studied, political violence, that cultural anthropologists have significantly improved the understanding of. Symbolic violence is an important tool commonly used by states in the ordering of relationships of superiors and inferiors. States are able to justify their infliction of terror by saying their own actions are just a reaction to the symbolic violence that is implicit in opposition. (Nagengast, 111) This is where we begin to see the topic of political violence finally discussed. First and foremost, it is important to clarify that political violence may or may not be direct violence. Psychological Adjustments for Hirschsprung’s Disease Hirschsprung Disease Occurring once in approximately 5000 live births, Hirschsprung disease is a congenital abnormality characterized by the absence of autonomic parasympathetic ganglion cells in the colon preventing peristalsis and resulting in intestinal obstruction and abdominal distension. Also known as congenital aganglionic megacolon, this medical malady is an unfortunate anomaly of a very vulnerable population infants and children. Hirschsprung disease can occur in otherwise healthy babies, but is commonly diagnosed in combination with Down s syndrome and congenital heart defects. Introduction: AUV s are improving and technologically advancing to allow scientists and deep sea researchers to explore the vast unknown of the underwater world. AUV s are automated underwater vehicles that can explore bodies of water without the influence of an external control source. The large scale system of currents that carry large bodies of water globally throughout the world is a major factor that has to be considered when the construction of an AUV is in effect. This enormous system of currents is known as the global conveyor belt . Not only is the global conveyor belt a huge importance to bear in mind, but also in which part of the global conveyor belt will the AUV be exploring. The global conveyor belt is greatly affected by the thermocline layer of the ocean. The thermocline layer of the ocean is between the deep water layer of the ocean and the mixed water layer, which lies at the top of the sea near the surface. Based on which layer of the ocean the water is in can induce many different properties such as temperature and density and can influence different components of the global conveyor belt. Although the thermocline layer of the ocean is a huge influence on the way the global conveyor belt flows, there are many other factors that contribute to the natural movement of the large scale currents (University of Illinois, 2010, n.p.). This widespread system of currents starts its cycle all the way up in the North Atlantic near the North Pole. In the beginning of its cycle the water begins on the surface of the ocean and is low in temperature due to the freezing conditions in the Northern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Compare And Contrast A Secret Sorrow And A Sorrowful Woman Love conquers all, or at the very least, that s what many romance novels want people to believe. A Secret Sorrow by Karen van der Zee, which tells the tale of Faye and her struggle to commit to Kai after an accident leaves her unable to reproduce, is a perfect example of this. The Sorrowful Woman by Gail Godwin, on the other hand, is a dark fairy tale about a woman whose life is only made worse by marriage and motherhood. At first glance, these stories may seem completely different. On further examination, A Secret Sorrow and A Sorrowful Woman share both similarities and differences in tone, theme, and gender roles that lead to the latter story being a much better piece of literature. First of all, the tones these stories employ really set them apart. In A Secret Sorrow, the tone is happy and hopeful optimistic. Despite everything Faye has gone through such as finding out she can t have kids she still gets her happily ever after. They adopt kids, and at the very end, as she s lying in bed with Kai, van der Zee writes, And in the warm afterglow of lovemaking, their bodies close together, she knew that to him she was everything, to him she was the only woman, beautiful, complete, whole (38). This is the ending that many girls dream of, and despite the conflict, the story remains light hearted for the most part. In contrast, in A Sorrowful Woman, the tone is much darker and pessimistic. How Does Hitchcock Use Suspense In The Birds The birds compare and contrast essay While reading/watching both du Maurier s The Birds and Hitchcock s The Birds, they both used suspense to enhance the story/plot. However, Hitchcock s does a better job at creating and utilizing the element of suspense using pace, timing, and continuity. Alfred Hitchcock uses suspense by slowing the movie down so it makes the audience wait and wait until the climax appears and gives a more dramatic feeling. For example in the scene were the number of birds keep on increasing as Melanie Daniels innocently sits on the bench next to the school. This is suspenseful because as she sits we see the birds rapidly increasing but she is completely clueless. Thus in du Maurier s The Birds she does not use the slow suspense in fact she has action in the begging of her story. For example, children flung themselves, screaming, upon him, while in the darkness the birds rose and dived and came for him again. (Page5). This shows that she goes straight out and doesn t keep the action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both hypotheses pose many interesting and insightful ideas based on information obtained from the fossil record. Theropods are a diverse group of bipedal saurischian dinosaurs (see cladogram). They include the largest terrestrial carnivores ever to have walked the earth. Several characters typify a theropod: hollow bones, three main fingers on the manus (hand), and three main (weight bearing) toes on the pes (foot). Most theropods had sharp, recurved teeth useful for tearing flesh, and claws were present on the ends of all of the fingers and toes (Hutchinson 2000). It is thought that birds are descendents of the group of theropods known as the coelurosaur or maniraptora. (There is debate as to whether these two groups should be one, so for the sake of this paper, I will refer to them as coelurosaurs.) This group can be typified by such species as Velociraptor and Deinonychus (Hutchinson 2000). The other hypothesis is that birds arose much earlier than dinosaurs from a group known to be the ancestors of theropods: the thecodonts (Dingus and Rowe 1998). Thecodonts were small, agile reptiles with long tails and short forelimbs, thought to include the ancestral stock of all other archosaurs, including birds, all dinosaurs, pterosaurs (extinct flying reptiles), and crocodilians (Anonymous 2000). Nelson on Descartes s Theory of Perception and Judgment Nelson on Descartes?s Theory of Perception and Judgment ABSTRACT: One tension in Descartes?s account of human error stems from the idea that we may be faulted for our acts of will, despite the fact that God is our omnipotent and omniscient creator. In the present essay, I describe a second tension in Descartes?s account of human error. After describing the tension, I consider Alan Nelson?s characterization of the means by which Descartes?s intended to relieve it. Although Nelson s interpretation is almost correct, I think that it obscures some of the interesting details of Descartes?s theory of perception and judgment. In cases of false perceptual judgment, is it not the faculty of intellect that so seductively offers up false propositions whose subject matter so clearly concerns our environs? As Descartes himself concedes, the objects of perception include the ideas of size, shape, and motion, and of other properties that are referred to objects outside of the mind.2 If the will and intellect, respectively, contribute the neustic and phrastic components of judgment, then it appears that the intellect (and hence God) is blameworthy in cases of erroneous perceptual judgment. II. In his paper, Descartes?s Ontology of Thought, Alan Nelson attempts to give an interpretation of Descartes?s theory of perception and judgment that extricates Descartes from the tension associated with explaining human error.3 On Nelson?s interpretation, Descartes maintained that false perceptual judgments are ultimately the result of confused ideas, which have their origin in past determinations of the will. In turn, Nelson supposes that confused sensory ideas can subsequently come to be the customary result of the impact of external objects, and thereby result in the spontaneous dispensing of false propositions by the intellect. Nelson?s interpretation has a lot going for it. First, it appears to relieve the apparent tension in Descartes?s account of error.
