To evaluate the ratio, if the ratio is lower than the industry average, this suggests the firm may have
liquidity problems. If the ratio is notability higher, this may suggest the firm is not using its funds in
an efficient manner. A firm that has a current ratio that is close to the industry average is performing
well. (Ameritrade, 2004).
Current ratio is calculated by dividing current assets by current liabilities. The current ratios for World
Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. for 2002, and 2003 are, 4.3:1, and 4.2:1and 4.1:1. By using the general
rule, the organization current ratios for all three years are well above 2.0. This means the organization
has adequate liquidity. The 2002 and 2003 ratios are higher than 2004 ratio.

Balance Sheet Analysis The balance sheet is one of four types of financial statements that are analyzed
to determine the well being of the firm. The balance sheet is also known as the Statement of Financial
Position. The balance sheet provides the detailed information needed to determine the financial
condition of the firm on a specific date, which is usually December 31. The balance sheet depicts what
the firm owns (assets), owes (liabilities), and how much capital (shareholders equity) it has. The name,
balance sheet, is derived from the fact that these accounts must always be in balance. Assets

Casey At The Bat Essay
In the poem Casey at the bat and the story of David and Goliath a comparison shows that there are
many differences in the story and the poem and many similarities. The first similarity between Casey
and David is that they both had faith that they would win. David had faith that he would win because
David stated I ll knock you down and cut off your head, this quote shows that David had all faith that
he would beat Goliath. Also in the poem Casey at the bat Casey had faith that he would win. This is
correct because the author stated, Defiance gleamed in Casey s eye, a sneer curled Casey s lip. This
quote shows that Casey had faith that he would hit the ball by the defiance in Casey s eye. The next of

David was not afraid to fail because he had faith that God would help him defeat Goliath. A quote
from the passage that explains this is the author stated, Today the Lord will help me defeat you. This
quote shows that David has faith that the Lord will help him defeat Goliath, which also means that he
is not afraid to fail. In the passage Casey at the Bat Casey was not afraid to fail also. A quote from
Casey at the Bat that explains this is the author stated, That ain t my style, said Casey. Strike one, the
umpire said. This quote explains that Casey was not afraid to fail from the quote. In addition, there are
differences between Casey and David for instance David was the underdog in David and Goliath and
Casey was the person that everyone thought would win. A quote that explains the difference in the
passage is the author stated, Do you think I m a dog? Goliath asked. This quote explains that David is
an underdog because Goliath asked him if he was a dog. In the passage Casey at the Bat Casey was
not the underdog because the author stated, For Casey, mighty Casey, was advancing to the bat. This
quote explains that the crowd knew that Casey was not an underdog because they call him mighty

Social Action Paper

Celia Bardwell Jones
Abstract The Thirty Meter Telescope was a project finally certified designed in the year of 2012 with
intentions for it to be the world s largest telescope as well as the largest telescope amongst all the
existing telescopes on Mauna Kea, Hilo. This concept for a social action paper was selected because

Emerson and Thoreau join the Native Hawaiians. Where is pluralism in democracy? Were the
appropriate procedures being followed?
To clarify the issues addressed by both sides, I had to lie out the reasonable arguments and in doing so;
I had to interview individuals at the hearing that took place at the Hawaii County Building and
listened to what each one of them had to say not only to me but to the Board Council of the State.
When I arrived at the destination of the hearing, many kanakas were circling the building to represent
how they are against the idea of the TMT and especially its location. The first and foremost argument
was: Mauna Kea is most sacred site in Hawaii tradition and culture. Of the four major islands in the
Hawaiian group, tradition states that the highest and most sacred places were located on Maun Wai ale
ale on Kaua i; Mauna Ka ala on Oahu; Mauna Haleakala on Maui; and Mauna Kea on Hawaii.
However, because Mauna Kea was the tallest and the highest point throughout Pacific Polynesia, it
was considered the most sacred of all. It stood tall over the island of Hawaii and was used to host early
Hawaiian traditions such as religion practices, study of the heavens, tool making, meditation source
and many more. In addition to the traditional events taking place on Mauna Kea, the most serious
issue was the fact that families still lived close to it and used it as a

Wings Macklemore Analysis
Reading Response 5 Title of text: Wings Text type: Song Author: Macklemore The song Wings by
Macklemore is about how people identify through the means of consumerism. It also discusses the
fleeting happiness that is intrinsically linked to the almighty power of the purchase. The song is based
on shoes, but it Macklemore aims to paint a broader picture of being a consumer by using his own
experiences of retail infused desire. In the music wings by Macklemore, he preaches against
consumerism in American culture. He uses the example of expensive Nike branded shoes to show the
effect consumerism has on citizens. He writes the song from his own perspective as a young boy and
his experience of being in a society that has a strong culture of consumerism. ... Show more content on

They feel that the brand is the only way they can identify themselves. With this song I think
Macklemore is trying say that we need to dissect our attachment to brands and logos and the happiness
that is associated with the purchasing of these expensive brands. With this song I think he is trying to
take away the strong connection between bands and being cool . The section of lyrics in the song; my
friend Carlos brother got murdered for his fours, whoa Macklemore uses this metaphor to show how
Carlos brother got totally ripped apart by his peers because his basketball shoes weren t cool or the
right brand. We are so stuck in the world of consumerism and the need to buy things to be able to
relate with others. I can relate to this because on a daily basis I see people get judged by what they
wear and what the own (material goods) rather than them as a person. When Macklemore wrote this
song he hoped to spread awareness of this problem so that it could be stopped. I also agree with
Macklemore that this needs to be stopped and that by spreading awareness of this issue it could
happen. I believe that Macklemore is very smart by using the fame he has gained in a positive way by
helping to spread awareness. I think that year 12s can learn

What Are The Five Major Elements Of Data Driven...
Question 1: What forms of data do you use most often to make instructional or other decisions? As a
teacher I use formative and summative data to drive my instruction. As I start with the state standard
for the lesson and plan a formative assessment on that skill before a summative assessment. In years
prior our school district used the platform of Performance Matter to collect data of that grade level
standards three times a year. This type of information set in with Dr. Scott McLeod (20??) essential
concepts. The five major elements of data driven instruction are: good baseline, measurable
instructional goals, frequent formative assessment, professional learning communities, and focused
instructional interventions (pp. 1 2, 20??). The assessment gave teachers a baseline, mid year, and end
year focus. When the teacher delved into the platform each question was broken down each standard
and concept, thus allowing teacher to provide adequate instructional goal to meet the students needs.
Teachers would also look at past state standardized testing to determine what if any remediation is
needed. As a principal, he/she/I needs to understand the data elements to schedule necessary people
and aid for the professional development communities.
Question 2: Do you feel comfortable with exploring other forms of data? I consider myself very
comfortable with exploring different forms of data. As an ESE teacher, I write many Individual

Essay about Greek History
Greek History In this book, the result of my inquiries into history, I hope to...preserve the memory of
the past by putting on record the astonishing achievements both of our own and of the Asiatic
peoples.... With this mission statement Herodotus introduces his Histories, the first recorded history
text in the western world. Using fragments of the past he reconstructs a picture of the whole; the
objects of his researches included first hand accounts and tales passed down through generations,
physical remains and artifacts, and his own intelligence and creativity. Using sources such as these
(though he cites nothing), Herodotus describes the foundation of the Theran colony of Cyrene, ca. 630

The detail given in the Histories surpasses in amount that given in the degree inscription but does not
contain any overtly absurd or patently false accounts. Herodotus description remains true to what is
known about early Greek colonization: the oracular role, economic and agricultural pressures spurring
colonization, and the mysterious and dangerous nature of unexplored territories. One aspect, given in
both Herodotus and the inscription, matches evidence of the period. The Theran decree tells of Battos,
Archagetes [founder] and king leading one hundred Therans to Africa; Herodotus writes that with
Battos as their leader and king...they sent two pentekonters to [Africa], with each pentekonter
containing fifty rowers each. Herodotus says the colonists were chosen with brother drawing lots with
brother; the Theran decree relates that [o]n equal and fair terms shall they sail according to family.
The main differences between the two accounts lie not in conflicts, but in new material. The
inscription gives the rules to govern the actions of the colonists: their rights of citizenship, the results
of hardships to the colony. It also details how men could be forced to join the colonization party, and
that the consequence for disobeying the order of the mother city was death. Herodotus remains silent

The small town of dill city is where I grew up and spent all of my life in the same house. I cant

have to worry about much. But not much goes on I western Oklahoma anyways. You normally have to

of friends to hangout with and usually have a pretty good time. Friends are the best thing about
growing up in a small town, they become brothers and sisters to you and eventually become family.
The neighbors here in dill city are not your average people that you see on your everyday bases. These
people are the best and would do anything for someone. The town has some shady parts in it but what

The Key Differences Between The “Law On The Books And “Law
The key differences between the law on the books and law in action, the phrase law on the books

Gary Haugen and Victor Boutros offer a searing account of how we got here and what it will take to
end the plague. Filled with vivid, real life stories and startling new data, The Locust Effect is a

In their belief, the laws on books are written and on the books, but the laws in action are enforced to

laws are written and the citizens of this country are advised to follow the laws. There are times even

the publics urgency to find the killer or the individual who might fit the profile for the crime causes
our judicial system to not thoroughly investigate a case. The law on the books perspective in the case
of Paul House caused the prosecutors and the U.S. Supreme Courts to base their decision on the
written laws of Tennessee, however, the laws in action made Paul House guilty as charged. The

Brothers Drake Meadery

Brothers Drake Meadery located on 26 E 5th Ave. Brothers Drake Meadery s business contains

Mr. Meadery has great passion for mead; as a matter of fact, he sees the recipe generation part as the
most important part of his business. It is indeed this unique, innovative process that supports his
business; however, it is undeniable that there are some problems generating from this process.
On the one hand, the random new recipe testing schedule wastes lots of time, and sometimes makes it
fail to meet customer demand on time. The production process is relatively standard, which asks for a
long time for brewing and aging. However, once staffs start to produce new mead, they can only make
one flavor at a time in the whole metal container.
On the other hand, all labor forces are assigned to keep producing the mead due to Mr. Meadery s
focus on increasing the utilization of existing equipment. However, the bottling is quite a labor
intensive process that will cost lots of money to employ more labors.
Besides, stores that sell their bottled mead do not have good sales plan, which makes Brothers Drake
Meadery fail to track the sales of each flavor and make better plans for next production.

Augustine s father was a local Roman official and pagan, until he converted shortly before dying.
Monica, Augustine s mother, was a devout Christian and tried to raise her son as one also. Augustine

could no longer pay the tuition fees. Augustine turned to alcohol, gambling, and prostitutes. A year
later Augustine was able to return to school and studied law. When his studies were completed at the

that therefore no one was responsible for his or her sins. Monica fervently prayed for her son s
conversion, but he was stubborn and refused to do so. A year later, while teaching in Milan, Augustine

Soon Manichaeism became increasingly dissatisfying for Augustine. He became fascinated with the
teachings of Plato and was soon convinced that there was a single god. Augustine even began

Health Inclusion Issues Affecting People with a Learning...
In this essay I will discuss the health inclusion issues affecting people with a learning disability with
regards to healthy eating and diet.
The Department of Health in England (DH 2001) defined learning disability as: a significantly
reduced capability in understanding new or information of greater complexity, to learn new skills as
well as a reduced ability to get by independently. The beginning of a learning disability is believed to
be cause by event taken place before adulthood, having a lasting effect on the person s development.
People with learning disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to have health problems than other people
without a learning disability (Disability Rights Commission 2006). Despite the knowledge of this,
recent reports have highlighted that there is evidence that people with learning disabilities have higher
levels of unmet health needs and also receive less or no effective treatment, even though the
legislation that explicitly sets out a legal framework for effective delivery of equal treatment and
health inclusion for all (Disability Rights Commission 2006 and 2007)

Greek And Roman Mythology
Greek and Roman Mythology
Since the dawn of time, different societies have worshiped gods, believing in their power and being
afraid of their fury. People have prayed and made sacrifices in order to achieve the gods mercy and
generosity. They believed that, if the gods are in good mood, they will provide people with good
weather conditions for growing crops. People needed explanations for different natural phenomena,
such as rain, drought, lightning, thunder and earthquake. So, ancient people believed that these natural
phenomena are caused by the gods. A good example of such societies could be ancient Greeks and
Romans. Ancient Greeks and Romans existed in the middle ages. This essay will describe main gods

Romans call these twelve main gods and goddesses as follows: Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Mars, Feb,
Mercury, Volcano, Juno, Minerva, Venus, Diana, and Bacchus. They are the same gods and goddesses
with same powers, but with different names.
Even though the Roman religion is based on the Greek religion, there are number of differences
between gods of these societies. Romans have not just adopted their religion from Greeks. They have
also changed their religion according to their culture. So, if you read about Rome and Greek gods and
goddesses, you will see differences in their names. Romans gave their gods names that are different
from names of Greek gods. Thus, there are only few Greek and Roman gods and goddesses that have
similar names. Usually Roman gods and goddesses have names of planets of the sun system, such as
Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune and Mars. In contrast, Greek gods and goddesses have their own names,
such as Zeus, Hermes, Ares and Hera. For example, the goddess of love is Venus in Roman mythology
and Aphrodite in Greek mythology. Romans call the god of war Mars, while Greeks call Ares. The god
of sea is called Neptune in Roman mythology and Poseidon in Greek mythology.
Furthermore, if you read about Roman and Greek gods, you will notice differences in characters of
gods and goddesses. Gods and goddesses usually have characters similar to people that believe and
pray to them, because people think up their

The Cultural Differences Of Athens And Sparta
Unlike many other ancient civilizations of the Near East, Greek history has a start like no other. The
Greek civilization was based upon city states, two in particular; Athens and Sparta. These two
dominants in Greek history differ from any other near east society because of their historical
background, geographical region and the cultural differences they display. The Athenian city state was
an open democratic maritime state, dominating Attica and supporting commercial and cultural
expansion. The Spartan city state had a tightly organized, militaristic, land based state, dominating the
peloponnesian peninsula. The Near east was a simple time to be alive, they had a small population and
little revolutionary advancements recorded. Early Civilization brought strangers together and
separated classes of people living side by side into distinct semi autonomous groupings (Sherman,
McNeill 17) unlike the civilization of the greek society. Athens was dominant toward the end of the
5th century. It was located in Attica. This location was a major difference from the societies of the
near east because they had no major rivers to get fresh water from and had no mountain ranges for
protection. This was a defence that many near east civilizations were built upon. Due to the lack of
natural defence the city state built long walls to help protect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Oliver Twist Is Saturated With The Evil Of Men
Charles Dickens Oliver Twist is saturated with the evil of men (and women) who seek to destroy the
purest of things the innocence of a child. The majority of the characters in this novel are driven by
greed, power (over the less fortunate) and pure evil non more so than Mister Bumble, the cruel,
pompous old beadle of the poorhouse where Oliver is raised, and Fagin, a loathsome reptile of a man.
While each of these men will succumb to some level of depravity, as will the other characters, young
Oliver Twist does not. Against all odds, Oliver is the only one who remains untainted by the evil that
surrounds him all times. Despite the heartbreaking revelation of his parents demise, dealing with the
loss of them both, the ill treatment he receives on a daily basis, existing in a world completely void of
light and permeating with corruption, Oliver never adopts the pervasive nature of those around him.
The infestation, which eventually consumes all those around him, is something that Oliver Twist was
able to avoid due to his purity of self.
From the moment of his birth, Oliver Twist is besieged by pure evil, and while he grows up without
knowledge of what being good is like, having never seen it, having never experienced it, he is able to
maintain a level of morality that most of the adults around him cannot. His disposal into the

The International Financial Reporting Standards
There have been plenty of debates surrounding the two type standards; on one side we have the United
States General Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) which has always been used until now with
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). A committee of accountants from the American
Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a
set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally
accepted. European companies first adopted IFRS in 2005, and by 2012 countries such as Japan,
Canada, and India had done the same. Since early 2010, FASB and IASB have been working together
to converge both of these accounting standards. The SEC has been on board, and although they have
not been successful yet, a Work Plan has been developed which lays out factors, which need to be
considered before transitioning into a new reporting system. The main topic for this paper is pension
and how both differ from GAAP and IFRS. In the research, it will mainly geared towards pension plan
and the benefits that differ between the U.S GAAP and IFRS. Through the research the main
information comes from the income statement of the company to identify the difference.

What Happens To A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes Essay
During the Harlem Renaissance, many look towards big cities to pursue their dreams. Langston
Hughes, a famous poet, knew how important dreams were and he saw dreams crumble during his
times. Dreams are a big deal in life because people set dreams to give themselves hope. When their
dreams crumble, their spirits die as well because they have nothing else to strive for. In Harlem,
Hughes uses vivid imagery and similes to illustrate how dreams deferred upset and defeat the human
spirit inside one s self. Hughes starts his poem with the rhetorical question what happens to a dream
deferred (line 5)? He then offers a series of responses towards the question, to remind the world how
important dreams are to the human spirit. In each response, Hughes ... Show more content on

The mention of the raisin in the sun (line 3) makes the reader picture a dry shriveled raisin lying in the
sun. After that Hughes states whether a denied dream fester like a sore (line 4). Here the readers
picture a nasty running sore, which coveys the consequences of deferred dreams. Hughes then asks if
dreams stink like rotten meat (line 6). This description makes the readers sense the rotten smell of
meat, which is not a pleasant smell. Next he says dreams are a heavy load (line10). This image makes
one think of a person carrying hard work by themselves, without anybody s help. They are so
exhausted that they drop the load and put it away for now. People tend to put their dreams away and
once their put away it s hard to pick them back up. They tend to not have the same drive or
momentum they had once before. To conclude this poem, Hughes ask the final question whether a
dream just explode (line 11). This is a very strong and bold word to compare a dream to because
explode means the end. This verb makes the readers picture and hear the sound of a bomb exploding.
This is the final step of a dream crumbling because once one have gone through so much, they can no
longer contain themselves. This leaves their human spirit empty and

Magna Carta In Australia Essay
Introduction This research essay addresses the issue of the application of Magna Carta in Australia by
championing the idea proposed by Justice Isaacs that Magna Carta is the groundwork of the
Constitution of the Commonwealth. In determining the relationship between Magna Carta and the
Commonwealth Constitution, we investigate how the principles of the Commonwealth Constitution
are connected with and reflected in Magna Carta. It is worthwhile to examine the degree of
consistency between Magna Carta and the Commonwealth Constitution in Australia.
Nexus between the Commonwealth Constitution and Magna Carta
The fundamental principles in the Commonwealth Constitution
The origin of the Commonwealth Constitution was the received principles of English law which
became applicable on settlement and which were modified and extended by subsequent statutes. The
constitutional system of Australia subsequently followed the set of conventions regarding the exercise
of powers in relation to the Australian Constitution by the Parliament, Sovereign and Ministers of the
United Kingdom. These conventions ensured the proper functioning of government and the smooth
working of the Constitution in changing conditions. As a consequence of a process of development

My Goals In Life
Everyone has dreams and aspirations on what they want to be when they grow up. I remember
changing my ideal career three times as a kid. My heart was for sure set on being a fire fighter, then
video game creator, and lastly a United States Marine. We all have passions and dreams that we want
to achieve and for some they are very much attainable, but for the rest we need to realize it might not
work out. This seems counter intuitive to what society tells us. Follow your dreams, chase your heart,
but if we re going to be honest not all of us are going to win the American idol and make it big. Not to
push you away from pursuing your dreams, but finding a secure job is a wider choice. This is
something I had to decide when choosing my career, I determined my passion, and what I was good
at, then found a way to pursue both. This process helped me find the career path as well as the colleges
I would need to obtain my goal. Music has always been a big part of my life, I play five instruments
decently and I love the feeling that music gives. In the past, I ve played alongside a professional blue
grass player, as well as performed in churches in the San Diego area. As I get older it s something that
I m going to continue to pursue. Another passion of mine is serving God in preaching. As a teenager, I
helped teach Sunday School classes, the eleven o clock kid s church, and even Vacation Bible School
during the summer. My two passions in life are music and preaching, both I can see myself doing
years down the line. However, both of my passions won t provide financial security. Rather than
forgetting your dreams, find a career that would enable you to pursue them. I m extrovert in nature,
and in the past, I ve known myself to be decent with numbers. One day I was talking to a CEO of a
foster agency, she told me how if I did the book work for an agency I can make minimum $80,000 a
year. I had a foreknowledge of what book keeping was, and I decided it would be the perfect job to
provide financial security. Once I determined a career field I had to plan what colleges to attend. To
get an accountant degree, and pursue my other goals along the way I would need to attend two
colleges. I spoke to my mom about the best

Nuclear Energy Is A Threat Weapon Of Mass Destruction
Introduction It all started in the 1940 s, when two atomic bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy were
dropped onto innocent Japanese civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the aftermath of the
catastrophic attacks, nuclear energy was being rebranded as a clean and safe energy option for a
brighter future. The country was split. On one hand, nuclear energy was the key to a more green
future, but on the other hand, it was a potential weapon of mass destruction. Today, over 439 nuclear
reactors are operating in 31 countries. The energy from these plants provide more than 14% of the
world s electricity.
What is Nuclear Energy? Atoms are the basic building block for almost everything in the universe.
They consist of a nucleus, made up of protons and neutrons, and an electron cloud surrounding it.
When the bonds holding the nucleus together are broken through nuclear fission, tremendous energy is
unleashed; this is nuclear energy. During nuclear fission, a neutron collides with a uranium atom and
splits, discharging huge amounts of energy in the form of radiation and heat. Additional neutrons are
also released when a uranium atom splits and they go on to hit even more uranium atoms; this starts a
nuclear chain reaction. Nuclear chain reactions are measured in a nuclear power plant to control the
amount of heat produced. Most power plants use a special type of uranium, called U 235, for nuclear
fission because its atoms are easily split apart. While normal uranium is about a

They also indicate sponsorship and authorization. They also differentiate a company s products from
those of competitors. Trademarks also show value and image as an effort to create a notion of quality
or uniqueness in the mind of the customer. Trademark infringement takes place when there is chance
of confusion between two products or services offered by different companies (Knudson, 2006).
Trademarks are usually a crucial element of company s marketing strategy and therefore need to be
selected carefully and safeguarded consistently against all possible violators. Copyrights are used in
protection of artistic works like books, plays, films, music, paintings, or computer software. Copyright
infringement entails use of such works either in part of whole without prior permission of their
owners, or without acknowledging the source (Knudson, 2006). Trade secret refers to any intellectual
property that grants its holder a competitive edge over the competitors. It includes any information
which may in from of a formula, pattern, compilation, program, technique, process that derives
sovereign economic value from not being known. Unlike patents which protect the original inventor
regardless of the source of subsequent inventions, trade secrets are not safeguarded (Knudson, 2006).

million children under 5 years of age are wasted, 17 million are severely wasted and 155 million are

There are several reasons for the concentration of malnutrition in the DRC. E: First of all, The
Democratic Republic of Congo has been in the middle of a civil war for nearly 10 years. So the
question is, how does this affect the dietary needs of citizens? Displaced settlements have trouble
receiving healthcare and they also face alarming shortages of food, water, and shelter . Overall, there
have been 2.7 million displaced people and those rates are still going up. In addition, there are 120,000

displaced within a year (Democratic Republic of Congo). These provinces will soon see these
numbers climb if something is not done to stop this growing issue.
The effects that malnutrition has on the Democratic Republic of Congo are fairly severe. Not only is

Analysis of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost ?The Road Not Taken? (1916) tells of someone
faced with two of life?s decisions however only one can be chosen. Whichever road is taken will be
final and will determine the direction that their life takes. Frost drives this poem by a calm and
collective narrative, spoken by the traveler of the diverged roads. Who is speaking with himself trying
to convince himself of which road is the better choice. Frost wrote this poem using standard, modern
language. In line one Frost introduces the diverging roads, which are his main metaphors. Diverging

The exclamation point after line 13 conveys excitement, but that excitement is severed by his
admission in the following lines. ?way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back?

stanza that begins with a new sentence, indicating that it is a stronger break from the previous ideas.
The speaker puts himself in a future situation discussing his life. What he states here seems to
contradict what he has said earlier. From his future prospective he says that the paths where different

and he only wishes that he could choose in the present ?the one less traveled by.?(5.20) ?The Road

syllables. This structure is maintained through out the poem. The stanzas are arranged like that of a

always second guessed by our second and so forth until we make our final decision, which cancels out
all that was thought before. This is what Frost manages to do in the arrangement of his stanzas.

Bayou Farewell Essay
Bayou Farewell The story is told by Mike Tidwell, a man who chooses to hitchhike down the Bayou,
catching rides on stranger s boats who he has never met before. He started on his exciting journey, not
knowing what would become of him. Relying on strangers kindness, and a great deal of luck.
Throughout the book the author travels down the Baya , as the Cajun people call it, and meets many
people of Cajun background who call this place their home. The Author s main purpose in writing this
book is to share with the world the lifestyle of these Cajun people; and how their home is disappearing
before their own eyes. He wants to call attention to the rising problem of the disappearing marshlands,
with the intention of slowing down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his journey he makes many friends who are all extremely kind and willing to lend a hand.
Mike Tidwell wrote this novel with the purpose of informing the readers about the wonderful, often
overlooked location that is the Bayou. He wants the public to know that this region is a treasure and
holds many unique qualities that so many places in the United States are missing today. Through his
journeys he came to love the land and the water. He learned a great deal about shrimping and
crabbing, and the way of life on the Cajun coast. While he wrote this book to inform people about the
region, he also wrote it to persuade readers to care. He wants people to realize that this territory is
becoming extinct. There are many reasons why much of the marshlands are turning to open waters,
and he wants to make sure that the readers become curious about them. He wants to pass on his love
of the land to those who read about his experiences. He most likely hopes that people will read this
book and consider what they can do to help out the cause. Most of the author s statements are based on
experiences. The majority of the book is about the experiences that the author has during his travels
down the bayou. While a few of his chapters do have some facts about the problem of the sinking land
, it s mainly based on his experiences. He writes about what he knows and what he learns. While his

1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to conduct a comparative analysis between for profit hospitals and not for
profit hospital. It will discuss the characteristics of each as well as factors affecting the operations of
both systems. Additionally, it discusses potential areas of improvement and some of the challenges
associated with each relative to finance and operations.

It is also possible that a nonprofit hospital, especially in a large city, may be busier at any given time
than a for profit hospital. To get an idea of what a large city s nonprofit hospital is like, you can recall
the television show ER, which was set in a nonprofit hospital. By treating everyone regardless of
ability to pay, nonprofits provide a needed service (Writing, 2012). The IRS interprets this reasoning
in their rulings.
Another term often used with both not for profit and for profit hospitals is uncompensated hospital
care. With not for profit and for profit, revenues come from daily operations. What happens if a person
cannot afford the care in a not for profit hospital? Regardless of the type operation, hospitals must
stabilize the patient and transport to a public hospital, even though they are not required to treat these
patients. This uncompensated care is classified as uncompensated care, bad debt, or charity care. For
profit hospitals write off this bad debt and use these figures to offset their profits and to assist in
developing their costs to Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Public not for profit hospitals are dependent upon tax based support for their government sponsors and
from patient revenues. Capital budgeting can be financed through government bonds that must be
voted upon during elections. Under these circumstances, it is difficult to maintain current equipment
and capital

Dna And Pyrimidines
DNA is a double helix structure which helps to keep the structure of the molecule stable. DNA has a
phosphate sugar back bone and covalent bond which also help with the stability of the DNA. DNA
also has coiling which is also very helpful with the stability of the molecule. DNA has two types of
bases, these are known as purines and pyrimidines. Purines are adenine and guanine and the
pyrimidines are thymine and cytosine. Purines are double ringed structures whereas pyrimidines are a
single ring structure. Adenine is complementary to thymine and cytosine is complementary to guanine.
Due to the different complementary base pairings within the two groups it allows information to be
transcribed. In between the different bases there is hydrogen

Menorca Research Paper
Because I follow the life and career of Tammy Gillis so closely, I was well aware of her current film,
Menorca. Being the indie film champion that I am, I did my homework and discovered who the writer
and director was John Barnard. Recently, I had the opportunity to ask him a few questions about how
he got started in the business, his notable works, and even a hint at his upcoming works.

RH: What caused you to pursue a career in entertainment?
JB: For me, filmmaking began with picking up a friend s camcorder the first time and simply starting
to make movies. It was one Saturday a long time ago, I think I was thirteen. From that moment on, I
knew there was no other option, and aside from some part time ... Show more content on

As one who has been devalued and ridiculed my entire life for not doing what my peers deem as
acceptable, I suppose I am consistently drawn to those who march to the beat of a different drum. I
admire John s outlook on film and the way he explores stories in unique and unusual ways. Moreover,
the fact that he recognizes the value of being nice to everyone in the business and gleaning wisdom
from the older generation causes John to rise even higher in my estimation. For him, filmmaking is a
passion in which he tells a story in such a way that it causes the viewers to think in an unconventional
way. And in a society where conformity is king and cookie cutter ideas are often lauded, his viewpoint
is a breath of fresh air. While I have not had the opportunity to view any of his works to date, this is
one time when reputation and what others say about a person carries a great deal of weight with me. I
say that if Tammy thinks he s a fantastic filmmaker, a stellar person, and a true professional, that s
enough of a recommendation for me. Furthermore, his responses are authentic, humble, and certainly
pragmatic. He has no grandiose views of his self worth, and he comprehends the value of community
and being a team player. Therefore, I ask that all my readers consider visiting the links below and even
perchance following him on social media. Without indie filmmakers like John, our movies choices
would be quite limited in the cinema, and even if his films are not necessarily your cup of tea, there is
no denying that he is one of those trailblazers who is continuing to find new ways of telling stories in
the world of entertainment. And for that, he has my eternal gratitude, and I hope that I will have the
opportunity to view one of his works very

The Importance Of An Effective Teacher
Educating is as intricate as the learning procedure is for each student. Educating is not just lecturing in
front of the class and later on give them tests to assess their knowledge. Being a teacher your style
must adapt constantly for the diversity of the children in our classroom as well as their learning styles.
To be viable in my work, planning and managing your time is crucial in setting up appropriate lesson
plans for the children. I trust that with information I have accumulated throughout the years on the
qualities of an effective teacher, I will have the capacity to arrange strategies and imaginatively design
strategies for difficulties and issues that I will experience in the classroom environment. The key to
success would be to always keep in mind the child s needs and to understand how society is evolving.
The learning process isn t the same in all children but instead it is an intricate procedure where each
student learns differently even as they get older. This occurs by the brain and its astounding ability to
recall occasions and learn things. Not all children are the same so it is important to figure out and
understand how their brain works. The brain is separated into three principle areas to be specific, the
forebrain which is in charge of the learning process, the midbrain and hindbrain. Located in the
midbrain is the cerebral cortex, which is in charge of memory, recognition and thought. Having
realized that the mind is involved in learning, it

Working Labour And Engineering Based Careers For This...
Comparatively, unlike larger metropolitan cities in Queensland, Toowoomba neglected catering to its
developing expert health care working force. Even now, focusing on developing working labour and
engineering based careers for this generation. Certainly, basic financial literacy can tell you why this is
considered as a brash approach to developing the economy, where the development is at the cost of a
generation. For instance, since Toowoomba is openly too inclined to expand its current infrastructure,
this created a disproportionate market share. Wherein, much of the educational development is biased
for training a robust labour market to supplement this industrial growth. Subsequently, relying on
fringe benefits, such as reasonable housing pricing, to incentivize foreign and interstate expert
working health care force to work in Toowoomba. In the light of a recent poll conducted in
Toowoomba, over 68% of the currently employed were uncertain about the prospect of finding a job
in the near future. Upon further revision on the matter, Toowoomba s Regional Council of finance and
business strategy general manager Arun Pratap stated to the Toowoomba Chronicle the following: If
you are planning on living and working in the Garden City in five years time aim to get into health,
aged care, hospitality and retail, transport and construction. [business] Additionally postulating that

It is intended both to provide thumbnail descriptions of the various intellectual property regimes to
economists working in this area and to indicate where additional economic research might be useful.
The other papers in this symposium provide important examples of ongoing research on the
economics of intellectual property. Suzanne Scotchmer analyzes the complex effects of patent
protection when innovation is cumulative. Rather than analyzing situations in which several firms vie
to develop the same innovation the approach of the patent race literature her analysis examines
circumstances in which only one firm can develop an initial innovation but others can also build upon
it. She focuses on how the incentive to develop both the initial and subsequent inventions may be
affected by the scope of patent protection. Janusz Ordover considers ways of adjusting the patent
system that may help to both provide returns to the inventor, and encourage the diffusion of the
innovation in the economy. His paper is part of a line of work that explores the place of the intellectual
property system among the large number of institutions that affect the amount and nature of research
and development that takes place. In the final paper, David

Spanish Official Language
Spanish is the official language spoken in 20 different countries and it is one of the most spoken
languages around the world based on the number of people who are native speakers. Spanish is one of
the official languages of the United Nations and it is spoken as first and second language for more
than 400 million people. Many people may think that Spanish is just one language, therefore, it should
be understood the same way by all Spanish speakers around the world; which is true up to a point. The
truth is, there are thousands of ways in which a person can write or say something in Spanish and each
country has developed a unique way of using a specific word. Countries that speak Spanish have a
wide combination of words and slang words that make them unique in themselves, giving Spanish
language a different identity according to the place people live in. There might be various reasons of
why a same word may mean different things depending on the county in which it is used. When
Spanish settlers came to the New World, each country already had a native or indigenous base of
language. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People would say no tengo un chavo in these countries as an expression that they don t have money.
Then again, the same word chavo means a boy in Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua. The variations of
same Spanish words makes it difficult for people from different Spanish speaking countries to
comprehend each other with no misunderstandings, and it is even more difficult for translators and
interpretations to translate from one language to another when the interpreter is from a different
country than the person needing an interpreter. The interpreter needs to know the variations of all the
words used by the person they are interpreting by using localization through knowledge of regional
terminology. Localization is used to adapt a message for a specific country or

How Norman Castles Changed During The Middle Ages
Introduction
Castles first came to England in 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, won the battle of Hastings.
The Normans needed castles because they had taken control of England by force and were hated by
many English people. The Normans had to protect themselves from English rebellions and they
needed to keep power over and show strength to the English people. William made sure that castles
were built all over England in major towns. The first castles were built very quickly and were very
simple, but during the reign of William and throughout the rest of the Middle Ages (1066 1500) the
design of castles changed. In this essay I will talk about how much castles changed during the Middle
Ages and the reasons for this.

Better living conditions for the Norman barons with bedrooms, kitchens, a chapel and toilets
(Garderobes).
Square Keep castles had lots of strengths: They were a show of power against the English and really
difficult to attack because of their thick stone walls and height. They also gave better living
conditions. They did still have weaknesses though: They were expensive, took a long time to build,
they could not be moved and they could still be attacked by enemies by:
Setting really hot fires under the corners (weak points) until they collapsed.
Using battering rams.
Starving out the Normans by not letting food in.
Tunneling and mining under the castle walls.
Using archers and catapults to fire arrows and rocks over the castle walls.
The corners were blind spots an attacker could hide behind corners.
These problems led to a change of design towards the end of the 12th Century once Edward I became
king. Under his reign the design of round stone castles and keeps began. The round castle keep meant
that there was nowhere the enemy could not be seen and took away the weaknesses of having corners.
Concentric Castles (1239 1400)
Concentric castles were a castle within a castle idea and were built to be as difficult to attack as
possible. Castles were very important as there were still lots of wars in England with many people
fighting for power.

Hope In The Hunger Games
How Hope Changes and Grows In the first three movies in The Hunger Games series, hope is present,
and it begins to grow and change from movie to movie. Daniel Munday says, Hope coalesces with
other virtues, particularly courage... (1). Therefore, when one person has hope, a little hope can grow
because that said person is courageous enough to help it grow. Katniss Everdeen helped the hope grow
for Panem with her many courageous acts throughout the series such as volunteering for her sister
Prim and becoming Rue s ally (The Hunger Games). With these acts, she unintentionally started a
rebellion and spread hope throughout the country. In the first movie The Hunger Games, hope seems
lost for the people of Panem. They feel as if the games that send ... Show more content on

During this film, Katniss has agreed to become the mockingjay, ...a mutation that has become a
symbol of hope... (Tan, 5). Being the mockingjay, Katniss main purpose is to give hope to the districts
in Panem. The popular line, I have a message, for President Snow: You can torture us, and bomb us,
and burn us to the ground but do you see that? Fire is catching, and if we burn you burn with us! (The
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1) had hope coursing through the districts. Hope grows within this
movie, enough for neutral districts to begin to rebel. One districts blows up the hydroelectric dam, and
another the people in another district conjure up a plan to blow up the peacekeepers (The Hunger
Games: Mockingjay Part 1). Not only did hope grow, but it also changed. It changed from a
courageous hope to a more powerful one. It became the driving force behind the rebellion. It was not
just hope that made a person defy the rules of the games or had them revive a fellow tribute; it was
now hope that made the people of Panem band together and fight the common evil, President Snow.
The Hunger Games series is a great representation of how hope can grow and change with a few
simple actions. This series shows how hope can not only grow but can grow from nothing. In the
beginning of the series there was no hope, but at the end of the third movie, there is an immense
amount of hope. It also changed from a mere courageous hope to a strong and powerful hope that
brought the people of Panem together. President Snow says, Hope. It is the only thing stronger than
fear. (The Hunger Games), and The Hunger Games series proves how powerful hope can actually

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Emerson and Thoreau join the Native Hawaiians. Where is pluralism in democracy? Were the appropriate procedures being followed? To clarify the issues addressed by both sides, I had to lie out the reasonable arguments and in doing so; I had to interview individuals at the hearing that took place at the Hawaii County Building and listened to what each one of them had to say not only to me but to the Board Council of the State. When I arrived at the destination of the hearing, many kanakas were circling the building to represent how they are against the idea of the TMT and especially its location. The first and foremost argument was: Mauna Kea is most sacred site in Hawaii tradition and culture. Of the four major islands in the Hawaiian group, tradition states that the highest and most sacred places were located on Maun Wai ale ale on Kaua i; Mauna Ka ala on Oahu; Mauna Haleakala on Maui; and Mauna Kea on Hawaii. However, because Mauna Kea was the tallest and the highest point throughout Pacific Polynesia, it was considered the most sacred of all. It stood tall over the island of Hawaii and was used to host early Hawaiian traditions such as religion practices, study of the heavens, tool making, meditation source and many more. In addition to the traditional events taking place on Mauna Kea, the most serious issue was the fact that families still lived close to it and used it as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Wings Macklemore Analysis Reading Response 5 Title of text: Wings Text type: Song Author: Macklemore The song Wings by Macklemore is about how people identify through the means of consumerism. It also discusses the fleeting happiness that is intrinsically linked to the almighty power of the purchase. The song is based on shoes, but it Macklemore aims to paint a broader picture of being a consumer by using his own experiences of retail infused desire. In the music wings by Macklemore, he preaches against consumerism in American culture. He uses the example of expensive Nike branded shoes to show the effect consumerism has on citizens. He writes the song from his own perspective as a young boy and his experience of being in a society that has a strong culture of consumerism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They feel that the brand is the only way they can identify themselves. With this song I think Macklemore is trying say that we need to dissect our attachment to brands and logos and the happiness that is associated with the purchasing of these expensive brands. With this song I think he is trying to take away the strong connection between bands and being cool . The section of lyrics in the song; my friend Carlos brother got murdered for his fours, whoa Macklemore uses this metaphor to show how Carlos brother got totally ripped apart by his peers because his basketball shoes weren t cool or the right brand. We are so stuck in the world of consumerism and the need to buy things to be able to relate with others. I can relate to this because on a daily basis I see people get judged by what they wear and what the own (material goods) rather than them as a person. When Macklemore wrote this song he hoped to spread awareness of this problem so that it could be stopped. I also agree with Macklemore that this needs to be stopped and that by spreading awareness of this issue it could happen. I believe that Macklemore is very smart by using the fame he has gained in a positive way by helping to spread awareness. I think that year 12s can learn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a teacher I use formative and summative data to drive my instruction. As I start with the state standard for the lesson and plan a formative assessment on that skill before a summative assessment. In years prior our school district used the platform of Performance Matter to collect data of that grade level standards three times a year. This type of information set in with Dr. Scott McLeod (20??) essential concepts. The five major elements of data driven instruction are: good baseline, measurable instructional goals, frequent formative assessment, professional learning communities, and focused instructional interventions (pp. 1 2, 20??). The assessment gave teachers a baseline, mid year, and end year focus. When the teacher delved into the platform each question was broken down each standard and concept, thus allowing teacher to provide adequate instructional goal to meet the students needs. Teachers would also look at past state standardized testing to determine what if any remediation is needed. As a principal, he/she/I needs to understand the data elements to schedule necessary people and aid for the professional development communities. With this mission statement Herodotus introduces his Histories, the first recorded history text in the western world. Using fragments of the past he reconstructs a picture of the whole; the objects of his researches included first hand accounts and tales passed down through generations, physical remains and artifacts, and his own intelligence and creativity. The detail given in the Histories surpasses in amount that given in the degree inscription but does not contain any overtly absurd or patently false accounts. Herodotus description remains true to what is known about early Greek colonization: the oracular role, economic and agricultural pressures spurring colonization, and the mysterious and dangerous nature of unexplored territories. One aspect, given in both Herodotus and the inscription, matches evidence of the period. The Theran decree tells of Battos, Archagetes [founder] and king leading one hundred Therans to Africa; Herodotus writes that with Battos as their leader and king...they sent two pentekonters to [Africa], with each pentekonter containing fifty rowers each. Herodotus says the colonists were chosen with brother drawing lots with brother; the Theran decree relates that [o]n equal and fair terms shall they sail according to family. The main differences between the two accounts lie not in conflicts, but in new material. The inscription gives the rules to govern the actions of the colonists: their rights of citizenship, the results of hardships to the colony. It also details how men could be forced to join the colonization party, and that the consequence for disobeying the order of the mother city was death. Herodotus remains silent on ... A committee of accountants from the American Institute of Accountants (AIA) created the first set of US GAAP standards in the 1930s. US GAAP is a set of guidelines made to help publicly traded companies create their financial statements. The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) serves a similar purpose, but has been globally accepted. We all have passions and dreams that we want to achieve and for some they are very much attainable, but for the rest we need to realize it might not work out. Nuclear Energy Is A Threat Weapon Of Mass Destruction Introduction It all started in the 1940 s, when two atomic bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy were dropped onto innocent Japanese civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the aftermath of the catastrophic attacks, nuclear energy was being rebranded as a clean and safe energy option for a brighter future. The country was split. On one hand, nuclear energy was the key to a more green future, but on the other hand, it was a potential weapon of mass destruction. Today, over 439 nuclear reactors are operating in 31 countries. The energy from these plants provide more than 14% of the world s electricity. What is Nuclear Energy? Atoms are the basic building block for almost everything in the universe. They consist of a nucleus, made up of protons and neutrons, and an electron cloud surrounding it. When the bonds holding the nucleus together are broken through nuclear fission, tremendous energy is unleashed; this is nuclear energy. During nuclear fission, a neutron collides with a uranium atom and splits, discharging huge amounts of energy in the form of radiation and heat. Additional neutrons are also released when a uranium atom splits and they go on to hit even more uranium atoms; this starts a nuclear chain reaction. Nuclear chain reactions are measured in a nuclear power plant to control the amount of heat produced. Most power plants use a special type of uranium, called U 235, for nuclear fission because its atoms are easily split apart. While normal uranium is about a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Police officers are openly crooked, while politicians and judges are in the pockets of the mobsters. By the time of The Dark Knight, things have started to improved in Gotham. Batman and Lieutenant Jim Gordon, have had astonishing success fighting the mob in Gotham. Their success has been paralleled by that of District Attorney Harvey Dent, Gotham s white knight. (1916) tells of someone faced with two of life?s decisions however only one can be chosen. Whichever road is taken will be final and will determine the direction that their life takes. Frost drives this poem by a calm and collective narrative, spoken by the traveler of the diverged roads. Who is speaking with himself trying to convince himself of which road is the better choice. While I have not had the opportunity to view any of his works to date, this is one time when reputation and what others say about a person carries a great deal of weight with me. To be viable in my work, planning and managing your time is crucial in setting up appropriate lesson plans for the children. I trust that with information I have accumulated throughout the years on the qualities of an effective teacher, I will have the capacity to arrange strategies and imaginatively design strategies for difficulties and issues that I will experience in the classroom environment. The key to success would be to always keep in mind the child s needs and to understand how society is evolving. The learning process isn t the same in all children but instead it is an intricate procedure where each student learns differently even as they get older. This occurs by the brain and its astounding ability to recall occasions and learn things. Not all children are the same so it is important to figure out and understand how their brain works. The brain is separated into three principle areas to be specific, the forebrain which is in charge of the learning process, the midbrain and hindbrain. The Normans needed castles because they had taken control of England by force and were hated by many English people. The Normans had to protect themselves from English rebellions and they needed to keep power over and show strength to the English people. William made sure that castles were built all over England in major towns. The first castles were built very quickly and were very simple, but during the reign of William and throughout the rest of the Middle Ages (1066 1500) the design of castles changed. Better living conditions for the Norman barons with bedrooms, kitchens, a chapel and toilets (Garderobes). Square Keep castles had lots of strengths: They were a show of power against the English and really difficult to attack because of their thick stone walls and height. They also gave better living conditions. They did still have weaknesses though: They were expensive, took a long time to build, they could not be moved and they could still be attacked by enemies by: Setting really hot fires under the corners (weak points) until they collapsed. Using battering rams. Starving out the Normans by not letting food in. Tunneling and mining under the castle walls. Using archers and catapults to fire arrows and rocks over the castle walls. The corners were blind spots an attacker could hide behind corners. These problems led to a change of design towards the end of the 12th Century once Edward I became king. Under his reign the design of round stone castles and keeps began. The round castle keep meant that there was nowhere the enemy could not be seen and took away the weaknesses of having corners. Concentric Castles (1239 1400) Concentric castles were a castle within a castle idea and were built to be as difficult to attack as possible.
