British Petroleum And Oil Spill
On April 20, 2010, an explosion occurred in the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. The
ocean was filled with oil which harmed the environment. The oil spill is considered to be the
biggest spill in the United States. Several sea creatures were covered with oil, it contaminated
them and killing others. The local people were affected by the oil change by having no job due to
the water being toxic. The British Petroleumcompany do not take fault for the explosion but they
cleaned up the oil spill. Although the British Petroleum contradicted themselves making the
situation worse. The company failed to deliver an effective message to the world. The company
miscommunicated which it made the company seem irresponsible and unreliable. Situations like
this can be prevented by having a public relation staff. The public relation can prepare an effective
speech that can directly answer the most important questions for the audience. Keywords: BP,

Textile Science Chapter 2 Hw
Textile science Chapter 2 hw 1. State the fiber property that most affects the indicated condition:
a. Pilling propensity pilling = hydrophobic strength static electricity
b. Producing permanent pleats. pleats = resiliency thermoplasticity
c. Improving insulation. Scientists model the manner in which a liquid wets fibers, gaining useful
insights for improving glass wool properties. Sandcastles are a prime example of how adding a
small amount of liquid to a granular material changes its characteristics

5. What is crimp? How does it affect the properties of a textile? Crimp is the bends and twists
along the length of a fiber.
It increases resiliency, bulk, warmth, elongation, absorbency, and skin comfort. Makes the hand
harsher and luster is reduced as crimp increase. Allows the fiber to stand off the skin so fabric will
not cling to the wearer s skin. Also helps make the fiber able to withstand being bent back on itself
many times without breaking.
6. How does fiber absorbency affect the properties of a textile? Absorbency affects: skin comfort,
static build up, dimensional stability in water, stain removal, water repellency, and wrinkle recovery.
7. What is pilling? Why is it more apparent on some fibers than on others? Pilling is the formation
of groups of short or broken fibers on the surface of a fabric that are tangled together into tiny balls
(pills).
More apparent on hydrophobic fibers because their fibers have greater electrical static attraction
for each other ran do not fall off the fabric surface. Wool also pills because it has a scaly surface.
8. Which fiber would be more suitable for athletic wear one that wicks or one that absorbs
moisture? Why? Wicking fibers are more suitable for athletic wear because

Reducing Toxic Emissions with a Catalytic Converter
Figure 1 shows an image of a three way catalytic converter block diagram that is comprised of two
types of catalysts. Whereby these catalysts don t take place in any reactions happening but only
triggers them. The diagram shows how less harmful gases are produced to the atmosphere by the
reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst.
The three way catalytic converter uses two stages to accomplish the process of reducing toxic
emissions, the first stage takes place on the reduction catalyst. The second stage of the process
happens on the oxidation catalyst. Platinum and rhodium are the metals used for the reduction
catalyst and oxidation catalyst uses platinum and palladium. The use of rhodium is very important
because it enhances the purification of the gases to be emitted since palladium does not perform
well in the purification process.
Automobile converters reheat the gases (Nitrogen gas, Carbon Dioxide, Hydro carbons, Water
vapor, Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon monoxide) that are already heated by the vehicle s exhaust
at about 350В°C and 650В°C. A ceramic honey comb structure is used for both catalysts; this
can be seen in Figure 2. The main reason for specifically using ceramic honey combs is because it
increases the surface area, so that when a thin coating of the platinum group metals is used it can
spread on a large area. Another reason is to make sure that pressure gradients are reduced and
therefore the area of the honey comb be compacted.
The first stage of Figure 1

How To Write A Chapter Summary Of To Kill A Mockingbird
Telling our stories is composed of nine chapters where he shares some of his stories from his
vast collection. This book is the result of decades of research and collecting of traditional
narratives. The author, Louis bird seems to have felt responsible for preserving the traditional oral
stories of his culture. These stories may have otherwise been lost as the elders who told them
passed away. It is my wish and hope to save the stories that have been passed on to us by our
grandfather s and their grandfather s (louis bird; www.ourvoices.ca). Each of the nine chapters
contains a useful introductionby an editor.
Chapter one is essentially a history lesson. In this chapter we learn a little about the personal
history of the author as well as his motivation for collecting his cultures personal stories. Louis bird

Chapter 7 is a story in which Bird describes the way his ancestors made and used weapons which is
appropriately titled arrows and thunder sticks . Roland Bear introduces this chapter by reminding

Christianity Reward and Paul
Paul c.5 c.67
Paul was an important follower of Jesus and made a big impact on the growth of Christianity.
Paul s life span was 3 67 AD. Paul traveled 10,000 miles around Rome to teach Christianity. A
couple of the places he visited were Ephesus, Philippi, Corinth and Athens. Paul taught to the Jews
and Gentiles. The story of Paul is that his name was once Saul. Saul was traveling to Damascus
and a bright light from heaven shone on him. Saul was before hand persecuting Christians for their
faith. The bright light was God/Jesus. He asked Saul to why he was persecuting him. Saul realized
what he was doing was wrong. He got baptized, changed his name to Paul and started preaching
about Jesus and Christianity.
Constantine c.272 c.337
Constantine founded the Edict of Millan. This said that everyone could worship whoever the
wanted without persecution. Constantine helped Christian s a great deal, because before they were
being persecuted. Constantine wasn t always as fond of Christianity. Constantine one day had a
dream/vision that led him to next put crosses on his soldiers shields. They won their battle and
Constantine became fond of Christianity, he said that God was one of the causes for winning. The
religion of Rome was stated as Christianity by him in 392 AD.

The purpose of this lab is to use genetic engineering to transform E. coli bacteria by inserting the
plasmid pGLO, and to then see if the bacteria was transformed by using the antibiotic, ampicillin.
Background Information:
Genetic transformation is the change caused by genes. This transformation includes the insertion of
a gene into an organism, changing one of the organism s traits. There are many other uses for
genetic transformation including the altering of plant genes coding for frostbite, pests and spoilage
resistance. It can also be used to digest oil spills and even alter in gene therapy to transform sick
cells into healthy ones. This particular experiment will include the transformation of the bacteria

If the bacterial cells do accept the plasmid then the cell will have antibiotic resistance to the
antibodies, and the bacteria will survive.
Pre Lab Questions:
The two most important sequences on the plasmid that will be used are the ORI bacteria and the
antibiotic resistance. The ORI is the origin of the bacteria and is an important part of the
bacteria because it does the job of replication. The antibiotic resistance is equally important
because it is used to see which bacteria take in the plasmid. In the lab there will be two micro
test tubes used. One tube will be labeled +plasmid and the second tube will be labeled plasmid.
Both test tubes will contain the E. coli bacteria and 0.25mL of calcium chloride (CaCl2), but
only the +plasmid tube will receive 10pL of pGLO plasmid. There will also be four agar dishes
used in this experiment. They will be labeled as follows: LB/Amp+, LB/Amp , LB+, and LB .
The LB/Amp+ dish will have luria broth, ampicillin, and the pGLO plasmid. The LB/Amp dish
will contain luria broth, ampicillin, and will not contain any plasmid. LB+ also contains luria
broth, will not contain ampicillin and will contain the plasmid. The last dish, LB , will have the
luria broth, and will not have neither ampicillin nor the plasmid inserted. The LB/Amp and LB
dishes act as the control group because they will be used to observe changes that occur without the
plasmid. The LB/Amp+ and LB+ will act as the experimental dishes because the plasmid will

Analysis Of The Play Oedipus Tyrannous By Sophocles
Tamara McDowney
Dr. Kwa
LITR201
August 19, 2016
Dear Dr. Kwa,
I chose to write about the play Oedipus Tyrannous by Sophocles, I found this play to be very
encapsulating to the very end. I really enjoyed the suspense, as well as the turn of direction that
the play took in the end as the plot thickened. In this essay, I will describe why I personally
believe that this play was not just a tragic event and the many reasons why I believe that Oedipus
can be viewed as a tragic hero by his actions throughout the play. I believe that some of my
strengths in this essay will show that I have written a well developed and explanatory essay that
will prove to be true of my analysis of Oedipus s heroism in his words to support my opinions. I
know that some of the verses that I quoted form the play can be interpreted differently so I would
definitely like to get your take on those quotes that I cited that you feel may have a deeper
meaning or interpretation altogether. I also view this as my weakness because of the way that
some of the verses are worded or the choice of words used, it was hard for me to understand as it
sounded a bit off. I also know that I used a few large sections of quotes which I made up for in my
in my word count.

Oedipus as a tragic hero is because a tragic hero is determined to be a character in a play with

The name of this book is Jake Reinvented. One of the main themes in Jake Reinvented is some
people will do anything to keep there past behind them even if that means to change yourself into
something you thought you would never be. These paper is going to how this is the theme of Jake
Reinvented and show that this is one of the main themes in Jake Reinvented. I well cover three
different scene in the book from them beginning to the end of the book.
The first scene that supports my theme is the scene when Jake tells Rick to bring Jenifer to the
next party and Didi come with and she see Jake and realizes that he was here old mat tutor from
McKinley. This is the first major scene that comes up in the book that shows part of Jakes old
self and what he was before he started going to Rick s school. These two quotation show that Jake
was kind of a nerd Back at his old school. The first quote comes for page 42 when Didi says, Jake
used to go to McKinley! He was my math tutor. If it were not for him I would still be in the tenth
grade. That Jake did have a different school and did know some thing about math. The next quote
also comes for Didi and this quote show that Jake was some kind of nerd because he did study

Characteristics Of Secret Societies In The 18th Century
In the eighteenth century, Europe had the largest number of Secret Societies. There were three
trends that Secret Societies got something good out of: The Enlightenment (a philosophical
movement (Locke, Montesquieu and Voltaire) advocating human reasoning over obedience while
strengthening the reasons for Scientific thinking), Enlightened Despotism (where society of every
rank and status felt their values were threatened by the state. Freemasonrytherefore seemed very
appealing as it taught ways of conveying ancient wisdom and virtue), and The growth against the
reasoning of Rationalism and Enlightenment as well as the fascination for nature s secrets which
brings about a mystical, magical and even occult exaltation.
As secret societies is the topic at hand, i d like to start by speaking about secret societies before
continuing with the classification of secret societies for the purpose of developing the discussion.
Secrecy is defined as an exclusion of reciprocal knowledge by members of associations and the
concealment is premeditated. As having full knowledge of any information is trusting, the
complete absence means distrust. It is very natural for us to understand that what is forbidden is
permitted and for what is not permitted is forbidden. Secrecy is one of the greatest
accomplishments of humanity as the purposeful concealment and aggression against the other party
is most effective with negative and positive outcomes. There will always be a small ratio of

Right Orthodontist
Regardless of whether you re looking for an orthodontist for cosmetic or health related reasons,
choosing a specialized and experienced expert is paramount to getting the best results.
Orthodontists in general are dentists who are picked to undergo extra training in accredited
orthodontic residency programs so as to become specialists in offering particular orthodontic braces
or appliances. If you have bite problems or instability in the straightness of your teeth, you should
consider visiting an orthodontist to get specialized treatment for your problem. Here are some of
the benefits of choosing the right orthodontist in Bakersfield.
Early treatment minimizes later problems
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, children who may need dental braces
should be assessed at the age of around seven years. Orthodontists are trained to assess and predict
how the jaw will develop in later years. Hence, if an orthodontist can identify a potential problem
and intervene at an early age, it helps a lot in reducing the degree of damage or necessity of
substantial procedures in rectifying the jaw problems later on. Orthodontists are used to seeing
patients with crooked teeth every day, and hence have more experience in straightening teeth than
general dentists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mayans Achievements
Carson Ritchie
3rd
The amazing achievements of the Mayans! The majestic Maya! These were people who, for
more than 3,000 years have lived in Mesoamerica. More than a thousand years before the
Spanish arrived the Maya had built a great civilization. The Maya s most remarkable
achievements were based off of four things. Scale, genius , effort, and significance. In this essay,
we will be looking at many great achievements that the Maya s have accomplished. The Maya had
a very fancy trade network that went from Mesoamerica from Southern Mexico to Honduras (DOC
A). They carried lots of products on these routes including shells, pearls , and sometimes even gold
that they got sometimes from Colombia (DOC A). The Maya had to put a lot of effort ... Show more

They also used combinations of dots and bar symbols. This helped the Maya with time keeping
(DOC C). If the Maya didn t have a symbol for zero, the system could not work properly. This
achievement by the Maya was a great success but also took a large amount of genius and
significance. The Maya created a 260 day calendar for rituals and ceremonies and a 365 day
calendar that synced with Earth s orbit around the Sun. The two calendar cycles were used
together. The Maya developed the calendar further than anyone else (DOCD). The Maya priest
astronomer s took a lot of time to collect information and so they could predict what would
happen with the systems and develop them (DOC D). This took a lot of effort and genius
although it is not as significant today, it was very helpful to the Maya back then. The most
remarkable achievement of the Maya is their ability to build cities. Scientists have found
thousands of building remains in over 2,000 places (DOCB). Tikal has an estimated population of
75,000 and has packed buildings covering two miles (DOCB). All these buildings took a long
period of time to build and with the resources they had with no transportation it would take even
more effort. This achievement takes a lot of all four of the things on the

Allopathy
1.Allopathic medicine is an expression commonly used by homeopaths and proponents of other
forms of alternative medicine to refer to mainstream medical use of pharmacologically active
agents or physical interventions to treat or suppress symptoms or pathophysiologic processes of
diseases or conditions. The expression was coined in 1810 by the creator of homeopathy, Samuel
Hahnemann (1755 1843). In such circles, the expression allopathic medicine is still used to refer to
the broad category of medical practice that is sometimes called Western medicine, biomedicine,
evidence based medicine, or modern medicine (see the article on scientific medicine).

Airbus operates in this industry by building airplanes with seating capacities ranging from 100 to
350 seats. Over the past few years, Airbus has been extremely successful developing airplanes in
this size range, increasing its industry market share to approximately 33%. However, quantifying
Airbus past financial success is difficult because prior to its 1999 1.6 billion euro IPO, Airbus was
a private partnership. As a result, very little past financial information is available.
The following analysis identifies the major strategic issues of Airbus and its industry, provides
alternatives and a recommendation of the most optimal solution, and details a plan of
implementation for the company.
Industry Analysis
The following analysis discusses the suppliers, buyers, industry competition, threats to entry, and
substitutes that exist within the large commercial aircraft industry. Additionally, the analysis
identifies the pressure that each of these groups applies on the industry and estimates the impact
this pressure has on potential industry profits. Each group is identified using a high, medium, or
low pressure classification. A high pressure classification indicates the group reduces industry
profit potential and vice versa. Given the high tech nature of the airplane industry, there are
relatively few suppliers capable of providing parts to Airbus and Boeing. In contrast to Boeing, who
relies heavily on suppliers, Airbus has tried to manufacture the

Recent Developments in the Professionalisation of Teaching...
Recent developments in the professionalisation of teaching have emphasised the importance of
values. In the light of your own experience examine the extent to which personal values support or
conflict with professional objectives.
In this paper it will be necessary to look at what professionalisation and values are, what they mean,
and if they have any relevance within teaching in todays Further Education system. To fully
understand the above statement and explore it further, it is necessary to dissect the title and
investigate exactly what is professionalisation and and how its development came about. The

In this respect the qualification is set out to verify the contents and matching objectives for external

fits into the ideology of instrumentalism, where, Armitage, Bryant, Dunhill, al, (2003) tells us a
highly educated workforce with high levels of numeracy and literacy are essential to compete with
aspirational, developing countries in the fields of science and technology.
Whilst striving to incorporate new technologies into Further Education is this ideology as effective
in preparing students for their work role as it is in meeting socio political aims of our society? To
try and answer these questions it will be necessary to look at ethics, morals and values imparted
whilst teaching the curriculum in this area of Further of Education.
Philosophy is a method of reflective thinking regarding values and ideas, why and what is realistic
to believe about them. It can also be defined as a study of the meaning of life, knowledge and
thought (Collins pocket dictionary, 2008).
People have their own philosophies so we cannot say that everyone has the same ideas, especially
when it comes to educational philosophies. All Philosophies are not the same but have some
comparabilities. Educational philosophers merely are stating their own thoughts on education, and

Water Reuse As A Water Management Initiative
Water reuse is a crucial concept in our society, water is a scarce resource and it is needed to
operate many things. Water is used in stream and in off stream (Botkin, 2014). Water has been used
extensively for irrigation and for energy production in industrial settings. Water reuse is a water
management initiative that is aimed at conserving our water resources and to allow the continual
use of this precious resource repeatedly. Reused water also known as Reclaimed wateris a type of
water has been used by households, Industries ect, and is collected on a treatment site where it is
cleared of various solids, organic and inorganic pollutants, and can be released into receiving
streams or be used again. Water can be recycled after it has been used vigorously to perform
various functions i.e water can be treated and then reused, there are numerous ways in which water

The above reaction scheme shows that one mole of sugar will react with one mole of 3,5
dinitrosalicylic acid. However, it is suspected that there are many side reactions, and the actual
reaction stoichiometry is more complicated than that previously described. The type of side
reaction depends on the exact nature of the reducing sugars.
Different reducing sugars generally yield different color intensities; thus, it is necessary to calibrate
for each sugar. In addition to the oxidation of the carbonyl groups in the sugar, other side reactions
such as the decomposition of sugar also compete for the availability of 3,5 dinitrosalicylic acid(http:
//www.ehow.com/about_5244996_general use dinitrosalicylic acid.html). As a consequence,
carboxymethyl cellulose can affect the calibration curve by enhancing the intensity of the
developed color. Although this is a convenient and relatively inexpensive method, due to the

Accidental Tourist Essay
Muriel Pritchett vs. Sarah Leary: Macon s Choice
Compared to other novels that deal with love affairs and romances, The Accidental Tourist by
Anne Tyler is different because it takes the reader on a trip through the character s minds. Macon
Leary s wife separates herself from him. Their problems begin with the death of their son, Ethan
Leary. That is not to say that they agree on raising him, because they didn t. When Ethan was born,
he only brought out more of their differences (16). They choose to raise Ethan differently. Sarah
wants to let him be happy and free, while Macon wants him to be more scheduled and structured.
The already struggling relationship is now even more troubled. Macon is not an ... Show more

You know I drive according to a system (4). She can come off as being over dramatic at times,
and somewhat annoying, but that could possibly be because we are used to Macon s mundane
personality. Macon still feels that he might in some way be responsible for his son s death. Sarah
tries to convince him that he is not. She does not support his career, which to her seems boring
and pointless. Sarah is comforting for Macon. They have been together for a long time and have a
history together. She, at times, can be just what Macon needs to feel comfortable. Even though he
preaches that you don t need to be home to feel home, he contradicts himself in that aspect.
Although Macon himself feels that he has trouble showing emotion, he doesn t see anything wrong
with the way he acts. He may disagree with Sarah on many fundamental levels such as this, but he
feels that if he were to leave Sarah, he would in some ways be leaving his son s legacy behind. But
when he meets Muriel Pritchett, things change.
Muriel has a son named Alexander who is about the age Macon s son was when he died. This
automatically makes Macon more drawn toward Muriel. He hadn t known she had a little boy.
He felt some inner click of adjustment; she was a slightly different person from the one he d
imagined (111). We do see Macon s soft side emerge somewhat when he is dealing with
Alexander. He may in ways feel that he might be able to pick up where

Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito...
Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his
infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters
once in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he
disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he
needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major
power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies
were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the
Grain. The aim of this policy was to create national self sufficiency in grain by encouraging farmers

policies in the most part were not a success. Firstly, the Battle for the Grain was aimed to create
self sufficiency in grain so that when war came Italy would not be dependent on foreign imports of
cereals and bread. This was achieved by encouraging farmers to grow grain by providing

Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools
Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years.
Schools are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives
once and for all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that
is worth it. Junk foodshould not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot
guarantee restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases
school revenue, and the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories.
When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of
school. As Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have
much bearing on how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons.
Outside of school, junk food is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student
would have access to them because of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they
conveniently placed, they are also served in large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned,
these outside locations could then serve as escapes for students from the policies that have been
placed. There will also be students who would be exempt from the policies once they are set in
stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick and Cass 17). These students still have the
chance to pack the unhealthiest foods from home, giving

Essay A. Marcello Oboe Concerto in D Minor
Charles Pridgen
CONS 422a
From the journal of Antonio Vivaldi
December 12, 1717
As noted in a previous journal entry, I had made a trip to Cöthen where the great composer,
Johann Sebastian Bach, is under the service of Prince Leopold. There I heard a recent keyboard
transcription of Bach s. The transcription was of a piece called Concerto in D minor for Oboe,
Strings and Basso Continuo. Bach listed the composer as the well known Venetian composer
Benedetto Marcello. As I listened to the piece, I was captured by the simple yet eloquent melodies
that were presented but I also was curious as I had not known of Benedetto to write for oboe. I
also know that Marcello stated, Oboes, flutes, trumpets, bassoons, etc., will always be out of ...

There are three Marcello brothers, Alessandro, Benedetto and Girolamo, who were born of
nobility here in Venice. Benedetto is well known for his music. Alessandro composes also but his
interests actually lie more with philosophy, mathematics, history, chemistry, painting and poetry.
Alessandro has a small body of work in music. This is probably due to him being much more of a
figure head in the Venetian government since his father passed away in 1707. Benedetto has a
much larger body of work composing of many instrumental and sacred vocal pieces. I recalled that
considering the academic pursuits of the Marcellos, that it was possible that they were members of
the Arcadian colony. The Arcadians were a new movement of intellectuals that emphasized the
respect of artistic achievement and a return to the Greek ideals that music and poetry worked
together. They also wished to avoid lavish displays and encouraged simplicity. The Arcadians
would also use pseudonyms and I discovered that the pseudonym of Eterio Stinfalico belonged to
Alessandro Marcello.
Now that I learned who the true author was, I went to seek out Alessandro. It is typical of nobles
such as the Marcello to conduct concerts in their home. I went to the Palazzo Marcello and
discovered a concert was being performed that had the concerto on its program. The oboist was
unknown to me. The audience contained mostly nobles and government

Therefore, I take the time to read memos, speak with management, and ask questions to better
understand the changes. I process changes by first understanding what is changing and what that
means for the company. For me understanding the overall benefit is important so I can have a
positive perception of the company s goals and vision. Next I evaluate if the changes will affect
my job role or me personally. If I am going to be affected, then I need to ensure I can meet the
new expectations and see if there is growth potential still. I believe change should be productive
for all employees whether directly or indirectly (Lussier, 2015). Changes happen at all levels of the
company s pyramid and some changes may take time where other may happen faster, either way
change is essential for company growth and competitive advantage in the market (Lussier, 2015).
With change comes challenges and those challenges usually scared people and make them resistant
to change. Change is uncomfortable to many people because it makes them feel vulnerable
regarding being in control and uncertain about their future (Lussier, 2015). Change can interfere
with people s autonomy and lead people wondering and assuming the worst. The challenges change
brings is not only for the employees but for management. Management has the challenge of trying

How Has The English Language Changed Over The Years
Think of things that morph over time. What comes to mind? People may think about a music
artist s change from YouTube videos recorded on iPhones to sold out concerts. Or, they may
think about the changes an athlete makes from childhood to becoming a professional athlete.
However, did you think about how much a language changes over a couple of years? Every year
words are added to and taken from the dictionary. Words are formed and forgotten. Language
changes because of a person s vocabulary and location, but what happens to a language, like the
English language, that is spread across the whole world?
The English language belongs to the West Germanic branch of the Indo European family of
languages, according to M Boyanova. The Indo European family started in Europe and South Asia,
later spreading to other parts of the world. The West Germanic branch of the Indo European
language family includes the Afrikaans (spoken in South Africa), Dutch (spoken in Holland),
English (spoken in the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, and Canada), German (spoken
in Germany), and Yiddish (spoken in Germany and Israel) languages (Thompson). Even though
Scottish belongs to the Celtic branch (Thompson), it is one of the English language s closest
living relative, along with Frisian. Frisian is located in the Dutch province of Friesland, in nearby
areas of Germany, and on a few islands in the North Sea. It is only spoken by approximately half a
million people (Boyanova).

Summary Of The Ghost
Chapter 1 Introduction About Ghost writing
The Ghost, Robert Harris s first sat nav (blend of satellite and navigation) novel was published on
26th September, 2007. It is a contemporary political thriller containing power, politics, corruption
and murder. It also highlights the problem which are involved in the art of ghost writing .
Ghostwriting is the act of writing books or other pieces such as a speech, book , article ,
autobiography and various other literary work in which another author s recieves full credit. Often
these authors are celebrity, politicians or other popular figures who can sell books but cannot write.
Autobiographical writing is the written account of one s life which is written by the same person.
On the other hand, Ghostwriting consists of written accounts of another person s life; mostly
famous personalities, whose autobiographies, memoirs or written speeches are written by the
ghostwriter.
As the name suggest, the ghostwriters name is never mentioned in his or her literary work therefore
they are always away from limelight. Though many miss the attention, the recognition and the
authority of having their own name on the writing but most of the ghostwriters have fierce level of
pride. Its either the income or the independence, its hard to decide. The thin line between these two
literature writing is very fine.

Creating Art Analysis
The feel of the brush and the smoothness of the stroke when paint meets the canvas. This feeling
is what I strive for. Art to me is an escape and simply to put it in terms is my way of life. It s not
just my hobby, interest, or talent it is so much more to me. When I decide to create something it
comes from an inspiration that overcomes me. I have many ranges of art that I do such as,
painting in oil, acrylic, or watercolor. Several of my pieces of art is from graphite pencil. Most
of my topics are of people or well at least the faces of the people. I mainly draw what I like to but
sometimes I will take request from people and draw them what they want. The reason that I tend
to draw faces more than anything else is because I like to express my feelings through the facial
expressions of the ones I draw. Creating art gives me a fulfillment, one that makes me feel like I
ve done something good. I don t just do it because it makes me feel good but because I enjoy it.

be passionate about, something to love. Not only that but something to look forward to when my
day becomes not so happy. It has created me a future a happy future of doing what I want and not
stuck wishing I did something that I enjoy greatly. Through art I ve learned what appeals to the
eye of the average human. When helping someone pick the colors to paint their room and what
colors the furniture should be. I know what colors go together to express moods, feelings, and what

The Prestige Film Analysis
Intro to Cinema Midterm The film The Prestige is one of many masterful Nolan films that walks
the line between being a meta film about the film industry, and being focused on immersing the
audience in the actual content of the film. At a close inspection, comparisons to the film
industry can be seen, but they are not so obvious to distract the audience from the central
conflicts that are at the forefront of the film. The subject of the film could most easily be
defined as surrounding the topics of obsession or fame. More specifically, the obsession of fame,
and the illusion of happiness that fame projects. The main characters of the movie both urn for
the fame of being the world s most successful entertainer, even if for different reasons. The
editing of the movie allows for the audience to have a unique perspective of how the events
transpire. The non chronological order of the film allows the audience to see the effects before
the causes, and to see the deception through a non linear lens. The events are lined up in a manner
that is more like the recollection of memories, than the linear nature of recorded film. By using the
two journals as a form of narrative we can see what we think is the inner monologue of the
different characters, or rather what about themselves they want to reveal to each other. It is this
nature of editing that allows us to slowly understand the secretes of the film in a unique way. The
film shows the answers to questions before they are asked

So what exactly is a tavern wench ?
Well, it s basically a period costume but has many modern variations on the theme. A tavern wench
is a woman or girl that serves in a tavern, Inn or Pub. She is basically the focal point of many of
the patrons attentions because she either serves them a frosty brew , dispenses advice or is simply
pleasing on the eye.
A tavern wench from olden times might wear a peasant top with a bustier or corset on top. She
will wear an ankle length skirt. She may wear a cloth cap or bonnet. Her costume accentuates her
figure which she uses to charm the patrons of the tavern.
There are all sorts of tavern wench costumes that are more modern. These include Oktoberfest
serving wench costumes which are fairly accurate representations of the real servers at the annual
Munich beer festival. A derivation on this theme is the Lederhosen serving wench, who wears the
knickerboker pants and braces instead of a skirt. These costumes can be really sexy and ideal if you

Evaluation Of The New Edition Includes Supervision
Glickman, Gordon and Ross Gordan (2014) wrote, Like schools, supervision can be conventional,
congenial, or collegial. Throughout most of its history supervision has operated from within a
conventional paradigm (world view), attempting to control teachers instructional behaviors. Based
on what we know about successful schools, the time has come to move from conventional schools
(still dominant in the United States) and congenial schools (less prevalent throughout the nation)
toward collegial schools (growing in number and success). (p. 7). In order supervision in schools
to move towards a collegial style, there has to be a shift of thinking and focus to working with
teachers, not teachers working for them.
According to Glickman, Gordon and Ross Gordan (2014), the title of the new edition includes
SuperVision, a term that denotes teaching and learning should developed collaboratively amongst
teachers and supervisors. This term also implies that this same group of individuals should work
together to build a democratic community where they make the school vision a reality (p. 8). In
order to make this paradigm shift, supervisors have to understand the different types of supervision
and understand when they are appropriate to use. The four models include directive control
behaviors, directive informational behaviors, collaborative behaviors, and nondirective behaviors.
Supervisors using the first type of supervision, direct control behaviors, are assertive and

The First Three Words Of Our Constitution
We the people... the first three words of our constitution have changed in meaning and who the
people represent also has changed over time. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the
future government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as
U.S citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day
country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the
establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the
constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had
one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny
Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of
England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the
document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing
that allows our government to function. The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go
out and fight for things to get done then nothing will ever get done. This is why we have
representatives in each state to listen to what the people have to say on issues and laws. Another
point referring to both the government of Britain and the articles of confederation is that by saying
we the people it shows that the constitution

Creating An Edible Gingerbread House
For many years, gingerbread houses have been made by families during Christmas season, as
part of Christmas festivities. Families gather around the table go bake and decorate gingerbread
houses and eat gingerbread cookies (Avey 2013). Some even participate in very competitive
gingerbread house making competitions. While these houses are very elaborate and take hours
and hours of very hard work, basic gingerbread houses are very easy to make and decorate (Bauer).
When creating an edible gingerbread house, the first step that needs to be completed is to gather
all of the materials needed to build and decorate the house. The materials needed are: half a cup (1
stick) of room temperature butter, half a cup of dark brown sugar, one fourth of a cup of light
molasses or dark corn syrup, one tablespoon of cinnamon, one tablespoon of ground ginger, one and
a half teaspoons of ground cloves, one teaspoon of baking soda, two cups of white all purpose
flour, two tablespoons of water, white chocolate, one pound of powdered sugar, two large white
eggs, one teaspoon of vanilla, assorted candies, rimless cookie sheet, pastry bag (for icing),
straight edged knife, thick paper, pencil, ruler, and scissors. Candies are going to be used to
decorate the house and should be chosen wisely (Food Network).
Now the gingerbread for the gingerbread house can be started on. First, the butter should be
creamed in a large mixing bowl. After the butter is creamed, the brown sugar, molasses, cinnamon,

not only the veterans and their families, but the American society as a whole. Three ways war
impacts lives are through the enhancement of racism, separation of family, and trauma.
In Snow Falling on Cedars, the San Piedro community had been passively racist towards the
Japanese citizens throughout the entirety of the novel. While the community was not overtly racist
to the Japanese citizens, they did not stand up for the injustices put upon the Japanese. ... Show

Before the bombings, the war, and the chaos, Ishmael and Hatsue were teenagers in love. The
two rebellious teens would sit inside a cedar tree for hours and talk about the world. There had
already been pre existing complications in their relationship such as Hatsue s mother, who
discouraged Hatsue from talking to white boys such as Ishmael. However, after the draft began
and the bombings occurred, the chance of Hatsue and Ishmael carrying out a wholesome
relationship went from somewhat likely to almost nonexistent. Because the war resulted in Hatsue
being shipped off to an internment camp, she and Ishmael would be unable to meet each other in
their secret cedar tree on the beachside. Instead, the two lovers would separate further and have to
write to each other, leaving room for the possibility of someone discovering their letters and
intervening. That exact scenario happened when a letter from Ishmael reached the internment camp
which Hatsue was being held captive in. Her mother read Ishmael Chamber s letter standing in the
middle of the tar paper hut with one hand on her forehead. While she read her lips moved rapidly.
Her eyes blinked severely and often (223). Hatsue s mother became furious with the letter and
demanded that Hatsue write a letter to Ishmael immediately breaking up with him. Hatsue felt
mixture of guilt for betraying her mother, and

The Apartheid Of Apartheid And Apartheid
Colonial inheritance has had a serious effect on all Africans lives and has irreversibly changed the
continent and its people forever. The impact of apartheid is evident when analyzing Mxolisi and
Nelson Mandela s lives. Both men were exposed to similar oppressive environments as they lived
in South Africaduring apartheid, though their stories show generational differences. Mandela was
an activist early in the apartheid regime and then spent a significant period of his life in jail until
the end of the regime as he took part in reassessment of apartheid and negotiations. Mxolisi was
born and raised during Apartheid and much of his experiences growing up took place while
Mandela was in jail. These two men were both victims of colonial inheritance and apartheid, which
lead them to extreme measures as they acted in protest of an oppressive government with the hope
that they might gain back power, rights, and freedom for themselves and the South African people.
Decolonization was sweeping across the African continent during the 1950 s and during this time in
South Africa, apartheid was being solidified by a white minority government. Early anti apartheid
struggles were predominantly non violent until the 1960 Sharpeville incident when police opened
fire on an unarmed group of demonstrators (Reid 292). Activists and groups such as the African
National Congress(ANC) became more violent because the government in charge was using violent
means to control them and their

Negative And Negative Effects Of Marijuana
Negatives of Marijuana Marijuana is a dangerous drug and should not be legalized. Marijuana
can damage lungs, it can affect cardiovascular shape and it puts you at higher risk for heart
attack or stroke, raises blood pressure and many other harmful effects. You can also end up
getting addicted to marijuana (Watson4). It s a very dangerous drug especially if driving. There
are many DUI s and deadly accidents that are marijuana related each year (gray1). That s why
marijuana is illegal in almost every state. Nevertheless, the number of teenagers partaking in
marijuana does appear to be on the rise, at least partially due to a reduced perception of risk
among teens who have been following the various legal debates around the country around
legalization of medicinal and recreational marijuana. Noelle swan (Christian Science Monitor2).
Although Marijuana is dangerous it doesn t seem to stop any one from using it. Marijuana is the
most common used drug in the United States and polls show that Americans are in favor of
marijuana (congressional digest1). It has various slang names such as; weed, pot, grass, ganja,
bud, herb, and many more. In two states recreational marijuana is legal and twenty eight states
medical marijuana and legal in two states for recreation use marijuana (Gray1). Marijuana
cultivation has been traced back up to six thousand years ago. Some strains of marijuana are found
to be up to seven times stronger than decades ago (Harvard Heart1). There is even

Parent Child Relationships in Before You Were Mine, Kid,...
Parent Child Relationships in Before You Were Mine, Kid, On My First Sonne, and The Song Of
The Old Mother
All of the poems are about emotions and parent child relationships. In
Before You Were Mine, the girl idolises and loves her mother. Whereas the man in Kid feels
angry towards his father, and resents him too. In the poem On My First Sonne, the father loves
his son a lot and feels grief for his dead son. Which is different from The Song Of The Old
Mother as in this the mother is angry and annoyed at her children. I shall look for similarities and
differences in the parent child relationships that are in all four of the poems.
The use of structure in Kid shows the past and present in a chronological way, it s like a ... Show

For instance, ...the fire flicker and glow this shows the start of her day. Then the middle shows
she works hard ...I must scrub and bake and sweep. Finally, the end of her day ...fire gets feeble
and cold. This is effective because it shows that she is a hard working mother.
This is also similar to On My First Sonne as it is also one long verse. Lines one to four show the
meaning to loss of his son Farwell, thou child of my right hand, and joy. Then the middle lines
show the father asking questions full of grief For why will man lament the state he should envie?
Finally, he accepts his loss ...all his vows be such. The themes in Before You Were Mine are about
growing up and looking back with memories and thinking of all the positive things which
happened. For example, Cha cha cha! You d teach me the steps... This gives the impression that
there was a strong bonding between the mother and child because there was a lot of parent love.
This is similar to On My First Sonne because the parent child relationship is full of love. For
instance it says, Farewell, thou child of my right hand, and joy. This shows that there is a lot of
love and care from the parent towards his son. His son was his pride. I think that these two poems
have a strong parent child relationship, because both of the parents show a lot of love and
affection towards there children. This makes me as a reader feel

The Raton-Clayton Volcano
The Raton Clayton Volcanic Field and Capulin Volcano
The Raton Clayton volcanic field is about 20 000 km2 in size, and has been active periodically for
the past 9 million years. The area is filled with peaks, cones, and lava capped mesas. The mesas
developed as lava flowed into valleys and depressions, cooled off and formed a resistant top layer
over sedimentary rocks. As the surrounding rock eroded, the lava protected the underlying
stratigraphy from erosion. This caused todays topography, where that which was once the lowest
point, is now the highest. There is some disagreement over why the volcanic field is here, one
possible cause is that it is near the end of the Jemez Lineament, which has numerous volcanic
centers along its reach, possibly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second series flowed to the south and southwest, the third to the south and west, and the fourth
northward and the eastward between Capulin Volcano and Mud Hill. After these series, the Capulin
Volcano eruption ceased. The last stage of the Capulin phase is the Baby Capulin lava flow series,
which formed a cinder cone around its vent, northeast of the main cone. This is the third youngest
eruption the the Raton Clayton volcanic field, erupting around 36,000 4,000 years ago.
Currently, the field is not active, but it is unknown if that is only temporary. If the Capulin volcano
was to erupt, the current cinder cone would most likely be destroyed and a new one would be

Christian Worldview Analysis
Statistics and the Christian Worldview In the world of statistics, it can be argued that there are
some questions in how ethical statistics can be. Whether or not it is always truthful and what can
be done to make it more trustworthy to even those with a Christian worldview. This essay will go
through some of the underlying issues of statistics and how it can be incorporated into a Christian
worldview. Descriptive Statistics Nineteenth century British statesman Benjamin Disraeli once said,
there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics . When he made this statement, he was
speaking on the fact that statistics can come out skewed or if not properly analyzed can be slightly
falsified without anyone truly knowing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Christian faith, it is important to have good morals, give 110% in all that you do and be
honest and truthful in all that you do and say. In the Bible, one of the 10 commandments say
that Thou shalt not lie . Well when you are doing the things listed above, that is what is
happening. So, in as sense statistics goes against the Christian Worldview because it is not
100% honest in the results and can be easily altered to look truthful when it is not. Statistics are
hardly ever straight forward and can be deceitful when not properly managed and processed.
When confronted with an ethical issue, statisticians should address the issue directly and
honestly without giving the customer the false hope that the problem will resolve itself or
simply go away. Philosophers, since the dawn of civilization, have developed approaches to
ethical analysis. Instead of a detailed systems history and analysis, the following general
questions may be useful for statisticians to consider as a basis for ethical inquiry:1) Is there a
duty to act in a certain way that is recognized and followed by others? [(Ross 1930], 2) What are
the consequences of the proposed action and will it benefit the most people? [Mill 1971], 3)
Would my decision toward someone else, if it were made concerning me, also be acceptable to
me? [Shaw 1991] 4) Would the decision be the same if it were published on the front page of The

Thesis Statement For The Feed
How would your point of view be affected by the society you live in? Many different characters
have different point of views of the society that the story The Feed takes place in. The society
Violet lives in affects her point of view because after Violet had the malfunction in which she lost
her memories she begins to panic about her idea of life without her feed . I have made three
inferences which support my thesis statement. Have you ever just wanted to live life to the fullest?
In the first inference that I have made, Violet expresses her need to live life to the fullest. In
paragraph 35 in the chapter 87.1% Violet states I want to do things that show you re alive. This
inference states that Violet wants to live life to the fullest.

How does it affect the properties of a textile? Crimp is the bends and twists along the length of a fiber. It increases resiliency, bulk, warmth, elongation, absorbency, and skin comfort. Makes the hand harsher and luster is reduced as crimp increase. Allows the fiber to stand off the skin so fabric will not cling to the wearer s skin. Also helps make the fiber able to withstand being bent back on itself many times without breaking. 6. How does fiber absorbency affect the properties of a textile? Absorbency affects: skin comfort, static build up, dimensional stability in water, stain removal, water repellency, and wrinkle recovery. 7. What is pilling? Why is it more apparent on some fibers than on others? Pilling is the formation of groups of short or broken fibers on the surface of a fabric that are tangled together into tiny balls (pills). More apparent on hydrophobic fibers because their fibers have greater electrical static attraction for each other ran do not fall off the fabric surface. Wool also pills because it has a scaly surface. 8. Which fiber would be more suitable for athletic wear one that wicks or one that absorbs moisture? Why? • 4. Reducing Toxic Emissions with a Catalytic Converter Figure 1 shows an image of a three way catalytic converter block diagram that is comprised of two types of catalysts. Whereby these catalysts don t take place in any reactions happening but only triggers them. The diagram shows how less harmful gases are produced to the atmosphere by the reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst. The three way catalytic converter uses two stages to accomplish the process of reducing toxic emissions, the first stage takes place on the reduction catalyst. The second stage of the process happens on the oxidation catalyst. Platinum and rhodium are the metals used for the reduction catalyst and oxidation catalyst uses platinum and palladium. The use of rhodium is very important because it enhances the purification of the gases to be emitted since palladium does not perform well in the purification process. Automobile converters reheat the gases (Nitrogen gas, Carbon Dioxide, Hydro carbons, Water vapor, Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon monoxide) that are already heated by the vehicle s exhaust at about 350В°C and 650В°C. A ceramic honey comb structure is used for both catalysts; this can be seen in Figure 2. The main reason for specifically using ceramic honey combs is because it increases the surface area, so that when a thin coating of the platinum group metals is used it can spread on a large area. Another reason is to make sure that pressure gradients are reduced and therefore the area of the honey comb be compacted. The first stage of Figure 1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Play Oedipus Tyrannous By Sophocles Tamara McDowney Dr. Kwa LITR201 August 19, 2016 Dear Dr. Kwa, I chose to write about the play Oedipus Tyrannous by Sophocles, I found this play to be very encapsulating to the very end. I really enjoyed the suspense, as well as the turn of direction that the play took in the end as the plot thickened. In this essay, I will describe why I personally believe that this play was not just a tragic event and the many reasons why I believe that Oedipus can be viewed as a tragic hero by his actions throughout the play. I believe that some of my strengths in this essay will show that I have written a well developed and explanatory essay that will prove to be true of my analysis of Oedipus s heroism in his words to support my opinions. I know that some of the verses that I quoted form the play can be interpreted differently so I would definitely like to get your take on those quotes that I cited that you feel may have a deeper meaning or interpretation altogether. I also view this as my weakness because of the way that some of the verses are worded or the choice of words used, it was hard for me to understand as it sounded a bit off. I also know that I used a few large sections of quotes which I made up for in my in my word count. Tamara McDowney In the play Oedipus Tyrannous by Sophocles; I viewed Oedipus as a Tragic Hero. Secrecy is defined as an exclusion of reciprocal knowledge by members of associations and the concealment is premeditated. As having full knowledge of any information is trusting, the complete absence means distrust. It is very natural for us to understand that what is forbidden is permitted and for what is not permitted is forbidden. The Maya developed the calendar further than anyone else (DOCD). The Maya priest astronomer s took a lot of time to collect information and so they could predict what would happen with the systems and develop them (DOC D). Accidental Tourist Essay Muriel Pritchett vs. Sarah Leary: Macon s Choice Compared to other novels that deal with love affairs and romances, The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler is different because it takes the reader on a trip through the character s minds. Sarah is comforting for Macon. They have been together for a long time and have a history together. She, at times, can be just what Macon needs to feel comfortable. Even though he preaches that you don t need to be home to feel home, he contradicts himself in that aspect. Although Macon himself feels that he has trouble showing emotion, he doesn t see anything wrong with the way he acts. He may disagree with Sarah on many fundamental levels such as this, but he feels that if he were to leave Sarah, he would in some ways be leaving his son s legacy behind. But when he meets Muriel Pritchett, things change. Muriel has a son named Alexander who is about the age Macon s son was when he died. This automatically makes Macon more drawn toward Muriel. He hadn t known she had a little boy. He felt some inner click of adjustment; she was a slightly different person from the one he d imagined (111). • 23. Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito... Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters once in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the Grain. • 26. Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years. Schools are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives once and for all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that is worth it. Junk foodshould not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot guarantee restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases school revenue, and the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories. When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of school. As Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have much bearing on how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons. Outside of school, junk food is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student would have access to them because of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they conveniently placed, they are also served in large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned, these outside locations could then serve as escapes for students from the policies that have been placed. There will also be students who would be exempt from the policies once they are set in stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick and Cass 17). There I heard a recent keyboard transcription of Bach s. The transcription was of a piece called Concerto in D minor for Oboe, Strings and Basso Continuo. There are three Marcello brothers, Alessandro, Benedetto and Girolamo, who were born of nobility here in Venice. Benedetto is well known for his music. Alessandro composes also but his interests actually lie more with philosophy, mathematics, history, chemistry, painting and poetry. Alessandro has a small body of work in music. This is probably due to him being much more of a figure head in the Venetian government since his father passed away in 1707. Benedetto has a much larger body of work composing of many instrumental and sacred vocal pieces. I recalled that considering the academic pursuits of the Marcellos, that it was possible that they were members of the Arcadian colony. The Arcadians were a new movement of intellectuals that emphasized the respect of artistic achievement and a return to the Greek ideals that music and poetry worked together. They also wished to avoid lavish displays and encouraged simplicity. The Arcadians would also use pseudonyms and I discovered that the pseudonym of Eterio Stinfalico belonged to Alessandro Marcello. Now that I learned who the true author was, I went to seek out Alessandro. It is typical of nobles such as the Marcello to conduct concerts in their home. I went to the Palazzo Marcello and discovered a concert was being performed that had the concerto on its program. The oboist was unknown to me. The audience contained mostly nobles and government ... The Prestige Film Analysis Intro to Cinema Midterm The film The Prestige is one of many masterful Nolan films that walks the line between being a meta film about the film industry, and being focused on immersing the audience in the actual content of the film. At a close inspection, comparisons to the film industry can be seen, but they are not so obvious to distract the audience from the central conflicts that are at the forefront of the film. The subject of the film could most easily be defined as surrounding the topics of obsession or fame. More specifically, the obsession of fame, and the illusion of happiness that fame projects. The main characters of the movie both urn for the fame of being the world s most successful entertainer, even if for different reasons. The editing of the movie allows for the audience to have a unique perspective of how the events transpire. The non chronological order of the film allows the audience to see the effects before the causes, and to see the deception through a non linear lens. The events are lined up in a manner that is more like the recollection of memories, than the linear nature of recorded film. By using the two journals as a form of narrative we can see what we think is the inner monologue of the different characters, or rather what about themselves they want to reveal to each other. • 36. Evaluation Of The New Edition Includes Supervision Glickman, Gordon and Ross Gordan (2014) wrote, Like schools, supervision can be conventional, congenial, or collegial. Throughout most of its history supervision has operated from within a conventional paradigm (world view), attempting to control teachers instructional behaviors. Based on what we know about successful schools, the time has come to move from conventional schools (still dominant in the United States) and congenial schools (less prevalent throughout the nation) toward collegial schools (growing in number and success). (p. 7). In order supervision in schools to move towards a collegial style, there has to be a shift of thinking and focus to working with teachers, not teachers working for them. According to Glickman, Gordon and Ross Gordan (2014), the title of the new edition includes SuperVision, a term that denotes teaching and learning should developed collaboratively amongst teachers and supervisors. This term also implies that this same group of individuals should work together to build a democratic community where they make the school vision a reality (p. 8). In order to make this paradigm shift, supervisors have to understand the different types of supervision and understand when they are appropriate to use. The four models include directive control behaviors, directive informational behaviors, collaborative behaviors, and nondirective behaviors. The U.S constitution laid out the framework for the future government of our country, everything from the branches of our government to our rights as U.S citizens. As our country has evolved from the institution of the constitution to our modern day country, the representation of the the people has expanded and changed in the years since the establishment of the U.S constitution. To begin, why did the framers choose to start the constitution with we the people? During the creation process of the constitution the framers had one thing in mind and that was to create a system of government that was anything but the tyranny Britain had. Perhaps the biggest flaw Great Britain had been the lack of voice the citizens of England had. Not even the Articles of Confederation began or even mentioned the people in the document. It only made sense for the foundation of our country s future to revolve around the thing that allows our government to function. The citizens run the government, if the citizens don t go out and fight for things to get done then nothing will ever get done. That exact scenario happened when a letter from Ishmael reached the internment camp which Hatsue was being held captive in. Her mother read Ishmael Chamber s letter standing in the middle of the tar paper hut with one hand on her forehead. While she read her lips moved rapidly. Her eyes blinked severely and often (223). Hatsue s mother became furious with the letter and demanded that Hatsue write a letter to Ishmael immediately breaking up with him. Hatsue felt mixture of guilt for betraying her mother, and ... • 43. The Apartheid Of Apartheid And Apartheid Colonial inheritance has had a serious effect on all Africans lives and has irreversibly changed the continent and its people forever. The impact of apartheid is evident when analyzing Mxolisi and Nelson Mandela s lives. Both men were exposed to similar oppressive environments as they lived in South Africaduring apartheid, though their stories show generational differences. Mandela was an activist early in the apartheid regime and then spent a significant period of his life in jail until the end of the regime as he took part in reassessment of apartheid and negotiations. Mxolisi was born and raised during Apartheid and much of his experiences growing up took place while Mandela was in jail. These two men were both victims of colonial inheritance and apartheid, which lead them to extreme measures as they acted in protest of an oppressive government with the hope that they might gain back power, rights, and freedom for themselves and the South African people. Decolonization was sweeping across the African continent during the 1950 s and during this time in South Africa, apartheid was being solidified by a white minority government. Early anti apartheid struggles were predominantly non violent until the 1960 Sharpeville incident when police opened fire on an unarmed group of demonstrators (Reid 292). Activists and groups such as the African National Congress(ANC) became more violent because the government in charge was using violent means to control them and their ... • 46. Parent Child Relationships in Before You Were Mine, Kid,... Parent Child Relationships in Before You Were Mine, Kid, On My First Sonne, and The Song Of The Old Mother All of the poems are about emotions and parent child relationships. In Before You Were Mine, the girl idolises and loves her mother. Whereas the man in Kid feels angry towards his father, and resents him too. In the poem On My First Sonne, the father loves his son a lot and feels grief for his dead son. Which is different from The Song Of The Old Mother as in this the mother is angry and annoyed at her children. I shall look for similarities and differences in the parent child relationships that are in all four of the poems. The use of structure in Kid shows the past and present in a chronological way, it s like a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, ...the fire flicker and glow this shows the start of her day. Then the middle shows she works hard ...I must scrub and bake and sweep. Finally, the end of her day ...fire gets feeble and cold. This is effective because it shows that she is a hard working mother. This is also similar to On My First Sonne as it is also one long verse. Lines one to four show the meaning to loss of his son Farwell, thou child of my right hand, and joy. Then the middle lines show the father asking questions full of grief For why will man lament the state he should envie? Finally, he accepts his loss ...all his vows be such. The themes in Before You Were Mine are about growing up and looking back with memories and thinking of all the positive things which happened. For example, Cha cha cha! You d teach me the steps... This gives the impression that there was a strong bonding between the mother and child because there was a lot of parent love. This is similar to On My First Sonne because the parent child relationship is full of love. For instance it says, Farewell, thou child of my right hand, and joy. This shows that there is a lot of love and care from the parent towards his son. His son was his pride. I think that these two poems have a strong parent child relationship, because both of the parents show a lot of love and affection towards there children. This makes me as a reader feel ... • 47. The Raton-Clayton Volcano The Raton Clayton Volcanic Field and Capulin Volcano The Raton Clayton volcanic field is about 20 000 km2 in size, and has been active periodically for the past 9 million years. The area is filled with peaks, cones, and lava capped mesas. The mesas developed as lava flowed into valleys and depressions, cooled off and formed a resistant top layer over sedimentary rocks. As the surrounding rock eroded, the lava protected the underlying stratigraphy from erosion. This caused todays topography, where that which was once the lowest point, is now the highest. There is some disagreement over why the volcanic field is here, one possible cause is that it is near the end of the Jemez Lineament, which has numerous volcanic centers along its reach, possibly ... • 48. Christian Worldview Analysis Statistics and the Christian Worldview In the world of statistics, it can be argued that there are some questions in how ethical statistics can be. Whether or not it is always truthful and what can be done to make it more trustworthy to even those with a Christian worldview. This essay will go through some of the underlying issues of statistics and how it can be incorporated into a Christian worldview. Descriptive Statistics Nineteenth century British statesman Benjamin Disraeli once said, there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics . When he made this statement, he was speaking on the fact that statistics can come out skewed or if not properly analyzed can be slightly falsified without anyone truly knowing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Christian faith, it is important to have good morals, give 110% in all that you do and be honest and truthful in all that you do and say. In the Bible, one of the 10 commandments say that Thou shalt not lie . Well when you are doing the things listed above, that is what is happening. So, in as sense statistics goes against the Christian Worldview because it is not 100% honest in the results and can be easily altered to look truthful when it is not. Statistics are hardly ever straight forward and can be deceitful when not properly managed and processed. When confronted with an ethical issue, statisticians should address the issue directly and honestly without giving the customer the false hope that the problem will resolve itself or simply go away. Philosophers, since the dawn of civilization, have developed approaches to ethical analysis. Instead of a detailed systems history and analysis, the following general questions may be useful for statisticians to consider as a basis for ethical inquiry:1) Is there a duty to act in a certain way that is recognized and followed by others? [(Ross 1930], 2) What are the consequences of the proposed action and will it benefit the most people? [Mill 1971], 3) Would my decision toward someone else, if it were made concerning me, also be acceptable to me? [Shaw 1991] 4) Would the decision be the same if it were published on the front page of The Wall Street ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
