Speech On King Henry Viii
Henry VIII of England On June 28, 1491 King Henry VIII was born at Greenwich Palace in
England. He was the third child of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. ( Henry VIII
Biography.com. ) The first child of Henry VII and Elizabeth was a boy named Arthur. The
second child was a girl named Margaret. The fourth child was a little girl named Mary. He also
had three other siblings, but sadly they did not survive their early childhood. When Henry was
young, his parents encouraged him in his studies. Since Henry studied so much, he became a
very clever boy. He also loved writing poems. In 1502, Henry s older brother dies of an illness at
age 15. Due to Arthur s death, Henry became the heir apparent to the English throne. Many
people believed he was going to be a great king because he had received a great amount of
schooling and he spoke many languages. Henry was also very athletic. He was very experienced
in jousting, hunting, tennis, and archery. As Henry grew older, he proved that he would rule
tyrannically due to his thirst for blood and power. He was not only selfish, but also handsome.
Other people even stated he had a hearty personality. ( Henry VIII Biography.com. ) Bloodshed
seemed to be the typical method to solve Henry s problems. Henry made his mark as king who
would not let anybody in his way. He soon charged his father s two ministers, Orman 2 Sir Richard
Empson and Edmund Dudley with treason. In 1510, the two ministers were executed. Another

Track And Football Similarities
Many people don t understand every aspect of what goes, or what is happening in every sport.
Yet, when it comes down to each sports there are many aspects that strike as similar, but there are
also many differences. The sports of football and track are both sports that I have experience with
and understand every aspect of the sport. There are many similarities and differences between the
two sports of football and track which define them and make them understandable.
These sports may seem like polar opposites but the similarities between the two are endless. The
similarities include the individual battle to the team aspect of the sport. The event of throwing in
track is very individualized since its only you that steps into the ring. ... Show more content on

Starting with the simplest of differences; in track you throw a sixteen pound ball while in football
the ball is about one pound. The implement that is used in track is a sphere that has is a little bit
larger than your palm. While in football the ball is an inflated, elongated oval that has points at
each end of the ball. Also in football, with the position that I play, I can t legally carry the ball while
in track I have to throw the implement. With one of the similarities between track and football
being the team aspect, but the difference is that track is all individual events while football is one
big event. Track is a sport that has individuals fill roles in a single event, but football has a team of
eleven players working together all at once. Another difference between the two sports is how
points are acquired. In football you are able to acquire points at any time throughout the event.
You can score point such as one point, two points, three points, or six points depending on how
your team decides to score. On the other hand, in track it s only after each event is over, and the
points are awarded to which place you get in your event. First place gets ten points and the point
decrease the worse you place in your event. Also you score points as a team working together in
football, and on the other hand in track you score points individually which add up to a team s score.
Between football and track the lists of similarities and differences are endless. The comparison
between the sports doesn t make one better than the next, it just helps understand it. Finding and
understanding the differences between the two sport help many realize what is happening and how

Wuthering Heights Victim vs. Victimizer
Victim vs. Victimizer Readers often pity literary characters who play the role of a victim. In
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Heathcliff: an outsider brought into the wealthy Earnshaw
family, Hindley: the eldest Earnshaw child with a strong dislike for Heathcliff, and Hareton: the
orphaned child Heathcliff takes in to raise, are victims, yet they evolve to perpetuate the abuse they
suffered. Being able to be or become a victim or victimizer show the complexity of these characters.
Emily Bronte manipulates readers to pity Heathcliff, Hindley, and Hareton, in spite of the hideous
pain they inflict on others. John Hagan states, Wuthering Heightsis such a remarkable work partly
because it persuades us to forcibly pity victims and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heathcliff a man? If so, is he mad? And if not, is he a devil? (Bronte 106). Isabella questions
Heathcliff s humanity, revealing that Heathcliff uses his pain to fuel the harm he inflicts on
others. Hareton Earnshaw, a victim of Hindley, Heathcliff, and Cathy, stands up for himself,
shocking the reader s perception of his character. Hareton is a victim of his father s alcohol
abuse and gambling addiction. These addictions are a result of Frances death and the reader
becomes sympathetic towards Hindley; however, Hareton is the innocent victim affected by the
lack of care from his father. Hareton is a toddler when Hindley holds him over the railing of a
staircase, threatening his life. Once Hindley dies, Heathcliff takes on the responsibility to care
for young Hareton. He does not know that he is being used as part of Heathcliff s plan to get
revenge on Hindley for abusing him as a child. Heathcliff wishes to keep Hareton ignorant and
uneducated in an effort to degrade him. When describing Hareton, Nelly, the house servant,
says, He appeared to have bent his malevolence on making him a brute: he was never taught to
read or write; never rebuked for any bad habit which did not annoy his keeper; never led a single
step towards virtue, or guarded by a single precept against vice (Bronte 152). Hareton is a victim
to society because he is kept an uncivilized and ignorant young man. The reader feels sympathetic
towards him because he is made to be an inferior

Human Dive Response; Changes in Heart Rate While Resting...
The Changes of Heart Rate of Students during Human Dive Response when Resting and
Submerged Abstract The dive response is known more popularly as a mammalian dive reflex. It is
a survival mechanism built into mammal s bodies, essentially. Over the years, scientists have been
determined to find what triggers mammals to have a decreased heart rate when submerged under
water allowing them to stay under the water longer when they do not typically live under water. In
this experiment, we tested three different conditions in the dive response to see whether heart rate
decreased with each treatment. To characterize the dive response, we measured subjects heart rates
at rest and with their face submerged under a tub full of room... Show more content on

They had the same body posture but the only difference was not actually being submerged. The
first part of this experiment was used as a control for the second and third experiment done. The
second and third experiments had different treatments and were compared to the first experiment.
The purpose of our latter portion of the experiment was to t test the prediction that movement
when submerged and breathing while on land can cause the heart rate to decrease in the dive
response. Material and Methods Each student got a white tub and filled it up with tap water from
the sink. Students were paired with two or three other people and formed their groups. Each
group got 1 stopwatch, 1 thermometer, and also learned how to each other s pulse. The
temperature of the water used from the sink were adjusted beforehand to about 23В°C; room
temperature. Water temperature was not re adjusted to be hotter or colder. All tests were
conducted in the same posture; leaning over the lab table with elbows resting on the table and the
head down. Students worked in groups of three to four, and each one took turn being the
experimental subject, taking the pulse and handling the stopwatch. To measure the radial pulse
manually, the subject s palm was facing upward. The index and middle fingers were used to locate
the pulse between the radial bone, which is on the same side as the thumb, and with a slight
pressure, the pulse could be found.

Comparing Hammurapi s Laws And The Book Of Exodus
Goring Ox Law Many people do not realize how many laws people had to follow in the ancient
east. The Hammurapi s Laws and the readings from Exodus 21 23 have many similar qualities.
But just like everything else they can be analyzed differently when they are being compared.
While throughout both readings they talk about the goring ox law. And seeing how that one
specific law can be viewed differently it shows how unlike the two places were. In one place they
were realizing how much God does for them, and how he provides to them if they follow his laws or
commandments. Whereas in the other (around Hammurapi) location Hammurapi just talks about
they are following the laws, and them getting nothing in return. In the book of Exodus, it shows how
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in The New Interpreter s Study Bible it shows just that If the ox has been
accustomed to gore in the past and its owner has been warned but has not restrained it, and it
kills a man or a woman, the ox should be stoned, and its owner shall be put to death. And that is
the same in Hammurapi s Laws as well. But what also is noticed is that if you have money you
can pay off your death. As it is stated in Exodus 20 40, the owner of that ox can pay for
redemption If ransom is laid upon him (the owner of the ox), he must pay whatever is laid upon
him to redeem his life. The NRSV rendering ... the owner shall pay whatever is imposed for the
redemption of the victim s life. It does not seem right because the victim is dead so the money
should not count for it. But it goes into explaining that the victims life is an interpretative
addition. And throughout those two examples, you can see that the owner of the ox is only
penalized if he knows his ox is killing people. If he does not know that his ox is killing people he
does not get penalized or in other words put to death. Also, the ox is only killed if the owner
knows about it. If the authorities do not contact the owner then the ox lives. In the bible the slave s
lives are more valued then when they were killed

Nationalism in a Multicultural Society
Nationalism is exclusionary by definition. In a well argued essay, compare the positive and negative
effects of nationalism within a multicultural or multiethnic society. In your answer, discuss the
problems that a multicultural society poses to the formation of national identity and why you do or
do not believe that nationalism is compatible with the liberal state s emphasis upon individual rights
and freedoms.
The Age of liberal democracy is also the Age of nationalism (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Throughout
history, the relationship between nationalism and the emergence and proliferation of the liberal
democratic state has been closely intertwined. Examples of democratic states that rose in tandem
with nationalism are the French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He carried out genocide on the German Jews in order to create the perfect Aryan race. Hitler
successfully turned the Germans against each other based on anti Semitic ideals. From this point of
view, nationalism and the politics of ethnic cleansing represent the dark side of democracy (Bernard
Yack, 2003) . National identity becomes horribly wrong, especially in multinational societies, when
people sometimes rank identities hierarchically, leading to the rejection of another nation as inferior.
The modernist theories imply that until the beginning of the 19th century, almost no one had more
than local loyalties. National identity and unity were originally imposed from above, by European
states, because they were necessary to modernize the economy and society. In this theory,
nationalist conflicts are an unintended side effect. For state theorists, pervasive loyalty or devotion
to the polity is purposefully encouraged through the allocation of services and privileges, with the
state adjudicating disputes to bolster unity (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Ernest Gellner, a philosopher and
social anthropologist, argued that nations are a by product of industrialization. Modernization
theorists regard the printing press and capitalism as necessary conditions for nationalism. The
greater the group nationalism, the greater the group homogeneity of attitudes, beliefs, language
spoken and ways of behaving, the greater is the group cohesiveness. Partly as a result of

21 Day Challenge Research Paper
The 21 day challenge was a great experience for me, and I think it overall made me a happier
person. It was easiest for me to just set apart a time each night to journal about a positive
experience, write down three things I am grateful for, and pray. For me writing three things I
was grateful for each day was the aspect of this challenge that increased my happiness the most.
It is easy for me to just think about all the negative aspects of my life and not really think about
all the positives, so by writing them down each day it made me realize how much I have to be
grateful for. I realized that most of the day I would focus on the bad things that happened, so it
was nice to focus on all the good parts of my life. When I started the challenge,... Show more

Most of the time there are million things going on, so a few minutes to not think about things like
work and school was very relaxing or me. Overall I don t think praying made me much happier,
but it did help me because it was a time to just be alone with my thoughts. Completing a random act
of kindness each day was somewhat challenging at first because I would forget about doing it,
and I would remember later at night and have to do something before going to bed. However
later in the challenge I found it much easier to remember to complete these random acts of
kindness. After completing these acts of kindness, I felt much happier because it is a good
feeling knowing you have helped someone. I felt good knowing that I helped someone or made
their day a little better. Overall, I think this challenge increased my level of happiness because it
made me realize I have a lot to be thankful for, and there are many more positives in my life than
what I realized. When I looked through my notebook consisting of the positive experiences and the
3 things I was grateful for it was very nice that instead of just remembering the bad things that
happened those days I now can remember the good things. I have a lot more to be happy about than
I thought I did going into this challenge. I now find myself realizing things that I am grateful for

Essay about Report on We Were Soldiers
I will Leave No One Behind
Extended Essay of We Were Soldiers
The Vietnam War was a nightmare for many soldiers. It re defined the meaning of war to an
entire generation. As the conflict grew it became known around the world that this was a war that
could not be won. After this was realized by America the main focus became to get out instead of
getting a victory . In the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, directed by Randall Wallace, a true account
of the first major battle in Vietnam is given. At the beginning of the film he introduces to us many
of the soldiers and their families. This is a very smart technique, because it ensures that the
audience not only will care about each one, but also tell them apart. Wallace exemplifies... Show

Another interesting aspect about this film is that Hal Moore took the leading role in being a
father like figure to all his troops when they went into battle, but also Julie Moore became a
leader whenever there was grieving and sadness upon the wives that had lost their husbands. She
was always there to support the wives and help them through the tough times. The year is 1965
and Lt. Col. Hal Moore is the leader of the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry. Moore is assigned to
lead his men into battle in the Ia Drang Valley, commonly known as The Valley of Death . This
would be the first major battle between American and North Vietnamese soldiers(a.k.a
Vietcong). Four hundred of Moore s men were drawn into an ambush, trapped for many days,
and bombastically outnumbered by the Vietcong. Instead of giving up and retreating, they
stayed and fought to the end. Moore s commanding officer Sgt. Major Plumer(played by Sam
Elliot) is a cocky drill sergeant who is by Moore s side most of the battle. Plumer is remembered
for his audacious and insane one liners through out the movie and his un hindered willingness to
kill the enemy. Although early on he seems to be incapable of any outward sign of emotion,
Plumer did show some grief and sadness in one of the last scenes of the movie when

The Leadership Challenge Of General George S. Patton...
There are a number of qualities that quantify good leaderships and good leaders. According to
Kouzes and Posner in their book The Leadership Challenge, all successful leaders have (5)
practices in common. They Model the Way , Inspire a shared vision , Challenge the process ,
enable others to act and encourage the heart (15). Never is there a more important time to have
exemplary leadership, than in a time of war. Both the American Civil War and World War II
showed what was possible through good leadership. From abolishing slavery and preserving the
Union, to fighting tyranny and oppression abroad, both events in American history had a
profound impact on all those involved. The impact would most certainly be different if not for
the leadership of Colonel Lawrence Chamberlain of the Union Army during the Civil War and
General George S. Patton during World War II. Both leaders possessed the 5 practices essential
for god leadership, yet both leaders to different approaches to accomplish their goals. The
leadership of General George S. Patton can be viewed as an example of transactional leadership.
This type of leadership makes followers of an organization achieve objectives through rewards
and punishment . This can be shown in the scene in Patton where he is meeting his new soldiers
for the first time. As he is driving through the streets of North Africa, he sees his fellow soldiers
are poorly dressed and not all in uniform. Soldiers had just finished a

A Sieve By Kamala Markandaya
Imperialism is when a nation dominates the politics, economy, and society of a weaker, foreign
nation. The motives behind this are for economic benefits, spreading of a religion, nationalism,
and racism. While this benefits the imperialists, it can do damage to the imperialized country. For
example, it can change the social structure, education system, ideology, distribution of wealth or
economy in favor of the dominating nation. This is the case when the British exploited India for
their resources, calling India the Jewel of the Crown for producing a huge profit India s .state
during British rule can be seen in the novel Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, which
follows the lifetime of an Indian woman named Rukmani who had faced many changes and painful
experiences due British imperialization. Throughout the course of her life, Rukmani can be seen
interacting with a white man named Kenny, who was a doctor that once treated her so she may
bear a boy. Kenny is a complicated character, helping the Indian people yet viewing them as inferior
and treats them coldly. Rukmani and Kenny s relationship with each other is a microcosm of the
social, economic, and political dynamics between Britain and India around the mid twentieth
century. In the relationship between Rukmani and Kenny, Kenny establishes dominance over
Rukmani, looking down on her and viewing her as a fool for suffering in silence. This relationship
reflects the social dynamics

The Pros And Cons Of Belgian Federalism
Dr. Wilfried Swenden, a professor at Edinborough University in his research paper called Belgian
Federalism: Basic Institutional Features and Potential as a Model for the European Union , argues
that there are positive as well as negative aspects as Belgium as a federal state. The good things
about it is that it managed to lower the amount of tension between the different language speaking
groups. He supports it by stating that the amount of demonstrations has gone down since
federalization of the country and that that can be linked to the success of the government. One of
the critiques that is often raised that it is very costly. Certainly, the process itself costs money,
however, it could lower the expenses by stopping some of the costly proto federal practices aimed
at concealing disputes between the two Communitiesin a unitary context (Swenden, 2003). He also
argues that the state of public finance is better nowadays than in was before the reforms. One of his
strongest arguments is that people have actually started identifying more with Belgiumthan before
when they allowed to identify with their region too. Swenden calls it the Moreno question the share
of citizens who have been willing to shift their identity to the Belgian end of the continuum has
increased, rather than decreased over time (Swenden, 2003).
However, there are some disadvantages. Like that Belgium while having three regions and
communities is actually bipolar in character. The German speaking

The White Shark, Nekton Project
The White Shark, Nekton Project
The White Shark, also known as the Great White Shark, is one of the most furious predators in the
oceans worldwide. Same as every species, the White Shark is classified into major groups. This is
called taxonomy. The taxonomy for this species is
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Sub Phylum: Vertebrata
Class: Chrondrichthyes
Sub Class: Elasmobranchii
Order: Lamniformes
Family: Lamnidae
Genus: Carcharodon
Species: C. carcharias
The kingdom Animalia means animal. The phylum Chordata includes animals with vertebrates.
The class Chrondrichthyes includes cartilaginous fish, which are fish that has a skeleton made of
cartilage rather than bones. The family Lamnidae includes sharks as the white shark and mackerel
sharks. These sharks are usually very large and can swim really fast. The genus is the group before
the species which includes other sharks that are very similar to the white shark. The species is the
last group, which contains the Latin name of the specific organism. Through taxonomy, scientists
are easily able to identify and classify species.
White sharks are usually found in oceans worldwide. They tend to appear more in cool temperate
and tropical waters. Also, some are usually found near islands with high populations of seals. They
spread throughout the world. Some of the places they are found in are along the coastline of South
Africa, Australia, New Zealand, California to Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean Sea and many

Increasing Price Discrimination In The Workplace
Individuals encounter price discriminations on an almost daily basis, whether realizing it or not.
Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the
regular price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be
described as identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider
(Sexton, 2013). Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a
reduced costproviding stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to
meet the qualification of pricediscrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization
must provide a good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly.
Secondly, the elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be
enforced in order to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit.
Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be
established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking.
Parking garages often provide a menu of price differences for different frames of time, such as two
hours, four hours, eight hours, or even overnight (Lin Wang, 2015). ... Show more content on

The Threat Of Liberty Equality Based Societies By Alexis...
Threat to Liberty in Equality Based Societies While traveling across the United States, Alexis de
Tocqueville recorded how democracy operates and the roles of its participants in, Democracy in
America. Tocqueville demonstrates his admiration of the American democratic system and
Americans dedication to freedom, equality, and supporting one another. Despite these praises, there
is also a looming danger against liberty in not only America, but in all societies based on equality.
The most imminent threat to liberty in these societies is despotism as it prevents individuals from
exercising their natural freedoms and rights. Tocqueville proposes resolutions to this threat, such as,
governmentdecentralization and civil associations. Despotism flourishes in equal societies due to
individuals isolating themselves and forming a centralized governing institution. As stated by
Tocqueville, Equality places men beside one another without a common bond to hold them.
Equality disposes them not to think of those like themselves... (485). With aristocracies, a society
not concerned with equality, there is a ligature between individuals within each socioeconomic
class. For instance, the noblemen associate with noblemen, while the poor associate with the poor.
However, with societies based on equality, mankind is no longer divided by their means. The
wealthy are equal to the poor in rights and freedoms, but not in monetary wealth. Lacking this

Wilfred Life Of Wilfred Owen
Wilfred Owen Poetry
Wilfred Edward Salter Owen was an English poet and soldier, whose renowned compositions were
distinguished in their delivery of a tenacious condemnation of the First World War. Born, 18 March
1893 in Oswestry, Shropshire, Owen commenced his poetic endeavours through his adolescence,
and after having completed his schooling, soon became a teaching assistant and aspired for
vocational pursuits. However, these were soon disparaged with the eminence of the Fist World
War, and in 1915, he eventually returned to England, where he enlisted in the Artists Rifles Officers
Training Corps. On January 1917, Wilfred Owenleft for the Western Front, where his imaginative
existence was drastically changed after involvement within numerous traumatic experiences. Soon
afterwards, Owen was diagnosed as suffering from neurasthenia, and he was subsequently evacuated
to England and arrived at Craiglockhart War Hospital, where he became acquainted with the poet
Siegfried Sassoon, who shared many of his views and revolutionised Owen s style and conception
of poetry. He returned to France in August 1918 and in October was awarded the Military Cross
for bravery, yet, shortly after; on 4 November 1918 Wilfred Owen was killed upon crossing the

A Study On The Weaken The Colon s Normal Function
It is strictly advised to follow the procedure as detailed in the Gerson basics workshop to avoid
misuse of coffee enemas which could potentially weaken the colon s normal function, for they tend
to extract large amount of potassium from the body. Minimal consumption of protein, fat foods,
and ample amount of fresh fruit and vegetables can be adverse to the system; however, Charlotte
Gerson makes a comparison of humans to elephants who are much larger mammals and survive on
a plant based organic diet, for they make up for the missing nutrients with other plant supplements.
It is believed that the glasses of fresh, raw carrot/apple, green leaf juices, organic fruits, vegetables
and whole grains can compensate for the missing elements and when taken together in the right
balance as instructed by the Gerson practitioners. Consequently, it is strongly advised not to mix
the Gerson diet with other diets as the balance could potentially be thrown off. In addition, the
majority of fruits and vegetables on the Gerson diet are mainly positive on the alkalinity chart
which adds to their effectiveness as cancerthrives in an acidic environment. The liquid form is
preferred for the diet as it is a more efficient method to get the most nutrients into the system in
comparison to a solid diet.
Congruently, the Gerson Therapy requires that a diet that is lacking of pesticides, herbicides and
preservatives to prevent the effects of a poisoned soil on a poised body, and maximize the

Perception And Perception Of Color
Perception of Color
What if I told you that my red was different from your red? The first thing you might wonder is
how I could possibly know this or you may even want to see evidence to support my claim.
However, experts have shown several different ways to convey that we do, in fact, perceive colors
differently. Few things have been proven in distinguishing perception, but there are copious
amounts of evidence suggesting that we perceive color differently because of our brains, past
experiences, and our genetics.
Perception is the state of being or process of becoming aware of something through the senses. In
addition to the five senses, perception also includes proprioception, which allows people to detect
the position of one s body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The brain starts to determine a color once the signal reaches the retina. The signal is then
analyzed by nerve cells and compared by neighboring cones and they calculate whether the light
is more blue yellow or red green. After that, the colors are divided into several pathways in the
brain where they are processed and identified. Recent evidence has come to show that the
processing systems in our brains are also perceptual systems, and that color is processed before
motion. This means that you are able to identify the color of a movement, before the movement
itself (webexhibits.org). For visual processing to grow and develop, you need to have several
visual experiences during critical periods after birth. This makes it exceptionally difficult for
people who are born blind who later have their vision restored to perform basic functions.
In an experiment that was conducted with monkeys, it was suggested that color perceptions comes
from some of the experiences we ve had in the world. The scientists who conducted the experiment
found male squirrel monkeys to be the best independent variable because they have a form of red
green color blindness, which is the most common form of color blindness in humans. The
blindness primarily afflicts males because the genes encoding red and green receptors are located
on the X chromosome, of which men only have one. Women have two X chromosomes, and a

A Christian Perspective On Authority
to be a Christian. Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure
because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He represents
traditional practices and both the elect and sponsors both believe in the power and authority the
priest wield because of his authority. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through
seminary school and has contractually established his legitimacythrough completion of the program
which gives rise to rational legal authority. Sociologist, Durkheim has an alternative perspective on
authority. He defines authority as, the bedrock of society. Without authority, man has no sense of
duty, only when traditions, codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining
man s impulses can it be said that society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is
Authority). In other words, authority is essential in order to have a functioning society. Inside of
the church, social integration is high and there are high forms of regulation. The people of the
church are thoroughly involved during service and responds back in unison in response to the
priest commands. Everyone has a role, whether the individual is an usher, altar server, or a
parishioner. In mass, the main authority is the priest, however everyone in the group holds high

Ford Edsel Biography Essay
First produced in 1958, The Edsel was produced by inspiration of Henry Ford s Son, Edsel Ford,
who passed away on May 26th, 1943. The Edsel was only on production for 3 years. Only about
160,000 Edsels were produced in that time period due to the lack of sales (Skinner). This model of
car was discontinued in 1960 and the failure cost Ford Motor Companymillions of dollars. There
are still a few thousand Edsels in existence and there are clubs around the world founded
exclusively for owners of the Ford Edsel.
Edsel Bryant Ford was born on November 6th, 1893. This was around the time that cars started
rolling out onto the dirt roads. (Ford Corporate) Edsel did not like horse drawn carriages because
the lack of style and comfort. This is why he helped his dad draw and design cars for the Ford
Motor Company. The Ford Motor Company was started on the 16th of June in 1903 with only
$28,000 from a few investors (Bak 1). He and his dad, Henry Ford worked on cars all the time
together. It was their favorite pass time. Edsel built 2 cars from scratch of his very own with his
dad Henry Ford. The two cars were called the speedsters. He based the cars off of the Ford Model
T. He made two of those cars.
In 1912. Edsel decided not to go to college and go straight into the automotive industry. In the first
3 years of his career, Edsel did basic office work at the Ford Motor Company which included,
Writing papers, sales, and helping consumers with their paperwork. Eventually in 1915, he

Information And Governance Of Haiti
Naturally, the capital of any country, state, or territory is the nucleus of information and
governance; it is the source for relief for most tension points experienced by a unified body of
people. Haiti s nucleus, its capital, Port au Prince, suffered a catastrophic 7.0 level earthquake on
12 January 2010 damaging countless buildings and taking over 230,000 lives. For a small country
like Haiti, this impact caused the entire country to be inoperable and paralyzed with no source of
self relief. Immediately assisting Haiti became over 140 nations and 1,000 non governmental
organizations (NGOs), charities, and private organizations (US Joint Forces Command, 2010)
priority. In that moment the country of Haiti and its people needed the detailed coordination of
many people and groups to provide facilities and supplies. Haiti needed logistics.
Due to the location of Haiti and the nature of United States Southern Command s
(USSOUTHCOM) mission; support interagency efforts that promote regional security cooperation,
they lead the Department of Defense s (DOD) efforts of providing assistance and standing up Joint
Task Force Haiti (JTF H). Ultimately, USSOUTHCOM s execution of Operation Unified Response
resulted in immeasurable successes however; it did not come without challenges.
At the core of any Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HADR) operation is the need for
responsive and flexible logistics. Logistics is only possible through coordination, collaboration,

Soccer Descriptive Speech
The crowd is stomping their feet chanting USA! USA! , trying to make as much noise as they
can despite their gloved hands and frozen feet. The entire stadium is shaking as the fans show
their support for our goalie who just laid out for a stunning save. As we settle back into our
seats, wrapping blankets back around our shoulders, I hear from behind me, God is helping out
between those poles tonight. Yeah, he must be a U.S. Women s fan too cuz Lord knows the men
s team is terrible. This come from two middle aged women decked out in U.S. Soccer gear sitting
a row behind me. The group of people around them chuckle after hearing this exchange. It s just a
fact around here: the women play better. Just three months later I walk into Jordan Field, home
of the Boston Breakers, a professional women s soccer team and as we walk towards the stands
one of my friends jokes that even our high school has a better stadium than this. The sun is
beating down on me, I squint up at the stands noticing how empty they are despite the small
number of seats. Once the game starts it s clear that the fans here are just as enthusiastic as U.S.
Women s National Team (USWNT) fans, there just happens to be a lot less of them. I began to
wonder how is it that 26,500 people are willing to stand in the freezing cold to support the
USWNT, but a professional women s soccer league that runs in the middle of the summer only
averages about 6,610 fans per game ( U.S. WNT vs. England 1, 2017 NWSL

The Crooked Line Essay
Ismat Chughtai s The Crooked Line reads like a classic Bildungsroman in many ways. It is the
story of a child born in an environment which is fairly hostile who grows up and is able to move
away from this hostile environment on a journey of self discovery. This basic structure is, however,
where the similarity ends. A Bildungsroman is a novelof development of the central protagonist
from birth to a position of stability within the social sphere. This normative form functions as a
basis for Ismat Chughtais novel The Crooked Line but instead of being the pattern followed, it is
the path not taken. The normative Bildungsroman is that against which this novel rebels and tells
the story of a protagonist who follows a trajectory which is individualistic... Show more content on

As it avows to depict reality and change is a fundamental feature of reality, it is imperative that the
realist novel changes constantly as well. This implies that the structural foundation of a
Bildungsroman would also have to be modified in order to make it contemporary and also realist.
The nature of this change, especially in the European context is obvious in terms of the
transformation of the novel from depicting stability into a genre which hinges on the inherent
instability of a society. In his essay on this topic, Franco Moretti in his introduction to The Way of
the World argues that the new novel is the transformative novel. In this, he uses the model of the
novel of adultery in which the growth of a character is located in the sphere of adultery and
thereby is essentially an unstable stability. This instability forms the foundation of the novel form
in one more significant aspect; one which is critical for Chughtai s Shaman as well. Youth is
important for the central protagonist because it is the site of potential which is hitherto untapped.
This potential encapsulates the heroic potential of the protagonist and manifests itself in the
larger system of causality in the text. The trajectory which the central protagonist will choose to
follow is begun in a young age. The decisions of the character work as milestones against which
one may measure the success or the degree of closure provided by the ending. However, as
Moretti further elaborates, this Bildungsroman encapsulates within it another paradox; the
individual s growth cannot be parallel to societal growth as the social sphere exists in order to
suppress the individual. This implies that any authentic Bildungsroman hinges on the discovery of
a stable and viable alternative. That the protagonist will in some way find a balance between the
self and the world and therefore s/he will be able to develop personally as well as socially. This

The use of community corrections would be beneficial to the United States. Because it will help,
reduce the overcrowding in jails and prisons. With community corrections, offenders will be able to
remain as a productive member off society while still serving their sentence. The majority of
incarcerated people have committed nonviolent offenses (drugs, burglary, and other). By taking
them out of Jail and place those in community correction programs it will help cut the prison
population.
One of major problems that affect the ability of corrections to function as a system is the
overcrowding of jails and prisons in the United States. Leading to increase inmate disobedience and

In September, Hitler announces and starts the planning for a major counteroffensive on the
Allied Forces along the Western Front through the Ardennes region, which was lightly defended
due to the rapid advance of forces and the long logistical routes needed to keep the forward units
supplied and operational. Attempting to launch a counteroffensive on the Allies would be a
risky decision and move. On October 8, Generaloberst Alfred Jodl presented Hitler with 5 initial
plans for approval, all were rejected. Jodl then submitted 2 additional plans on October 11, with a
combination of the two plans being approved. It was from this combination that the Ardennes
plan, named Operation Watch on the Rhein, was initiated. A couple of days later the Ardennes
plan was briefed to the senior ranking officers in the German army. The primary units assigned to

1. Define American Call/Put option10 pts
Answer
Options allow investors to hedge against risk. If one expects stock prices to rise, then he/she may
like to invest in stocks. However, buying stocks also entails risk because of price fluctuation. The
risk will be potentially large in case price falls to zero. In order to avoid risk one may like to buy a
call option.
An American call option gives one the right, but not an obligation, to buy a specified number of
shares of a stock for a specified price called exercise or strike price before the maturity date or on ...

Write An Argumentative Essay On Flibanserin
Female Viagra May Get Approved by FDA This Week Flibanserin, a drug designed to increase
libido in women also known as female Viagra , could be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration this week. FDA approval of the female Viagra would be unprecedented, as no
such drug has ever been approved before. WHAT IS FLIBANSERIN? Unlike Viagra, flibanserin
aims to raise libido by targeting the female brain s pleasure center instead of the genitals.
Proponents of the cite the lack of a female equivalent to Viagra. Unlike men, there is no drug on
the market to combat persistent low sexual desire in women, a condition also known as
hypoactive sexual disorder (HSDD). But critics of flibanserin say that the negative side effects

And aside from these side effects, opponents of the drug say that the cause of HSDD can be

receive FDA approval this week. The drug was passed in June (with the condition that the

Interstitial Migration Of Lymphocytes.
3. Interstitial migration of lymphocytes in non lymphoid organs. 3.1. T cells Targeting infected or
transformed cells in an inflammatory milieu is a complex and multifactorial process. To mediate
their effector functions, primed CD8+ and CD4+ T cells need to migrate into the inflamed organs
and initiate adaptive immune responses. After homing into the inflamed tissue, T cells require
presentation of the cognate antigen MHC complex on the surface of the target cells before effector
functions can be initiated. In case of T cells, the identification and neutralisation of these target cells
can be challenging, as the number of target cells in most cases is much lower than the tissue
resident and/or inflammatory immune cells within the milieu. Moreover, successful initiation of
effector T cell function results in lower abundance of target cells therefore T cells need to scan
larger regions within the tissue for increasingly rare target cells. Similarly, the complex
inflammatory environment presents several other challenges that may impede successful
navigation of effector T cells like the presence of various chemotactic cues, pathogen associated
molecular patterns (PAMPs), damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and alterations in the
extracellular matrix (ECM). To successfully navigate through such a complex inflammatory milieu,
T cells have devised novel migratory strategies. Extravasating T cells in the tissue polarise and
migrate at high velocities within the inflamed

Pros And Cons Of Circumcision
PRO OF CIRCUMSICION Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis. This
practice of male circumcision was started century ago by Jewish people as part of religious ritual
(Pillitteri, 2014). Today there is controversy with this practice. For this week s discussion, we are
going to concentrate on proponents of the practice. Male circumcision has been a practice in
various social groups in many countries around the world including Jewish people, Muslim, and
even citizens of the United Stated of America (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau, 2017). Culture and
religion have had a great impact on decision making regarding male circumcision. Many believe that
circumcision offers some medical health benefits, such as, the reduction of the risk of urinary tract
infection, protects against penile and cervical cancer, and decreases the incidence of sexual
transmitted disease. Patients report that circumcision improves sexual function and gives creativity
during intercourse. Some believe circumcision reduces the risk of paraphimosis which is when the
skin gets stuck behind the head of the penis. If paraphimosis is left... Show more content on

, Here in America this helps because patients do not have to endure the surgical removal of the
foreskin when they get older, and they run the risk of the most considerable complications (Pillitteri,

the desire to be traditional in countries where the majority of boys are circumcised. Circumcision
has health benefits, and it would be helpful for circumcision to be accessible to parents. This can be
attained with health provider education. Today awareness of improved hygiene and lower risk of
infections through male circumcision have motivated the spread of circumcision practices in the
developing countries (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau,

In order to be infested with Neisseria meningitidis, close prolonged contact from one person to the
other must be present from anywhere between a two and ten day incubation period. (World Health
Organisation, 2015.) Most of the consistently occurring symptoms of the disease include sensitivity
to light, heavy breathing, cold chills and shivers, confusion, blood rashes, headaches, vomiting, high
fevers and a stiff neck. (SEE APPENDIX 2.0) Initial diagnosis of Meningococcal meningitis is
made by a clinical examination, and can be confirmed by growing the bacteria in specimens of
spinal fluid or blood by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Although in most cases the disease is
recognised during early stages, adequate treatment leads to the death of 5 10% of patients
typically after twenty four to forty eight hours of experiencing symptoms. (World Health
Organisation, 2015.) In serious cases, this bacterial meningitis can result in learning disabilities,
hearing loss or severe damage to the blood stream, brain and spinal cord. Severe brain damage
and blood poisoning can lead to a traumatic death, whilst serious spinal cord injuries leave victims
paralysed. This affects approximately 10 20% of all survivors. (Disease Control,

favorite drummers drum in.
Popular types of drums. One of the most used types of drums is the Snare Drum. If you ve ever

is a Snare Drum. The second most talked about/used drum is the Bass Drum or Kick Drum. There
is a little bit of difference between the kick drum and the bass drum. The guys that play in the
Marching Bands with the drum strapped to their chest are wearing a bass drum. If you have ever
seen a drum kit and you have noticed a hole in the big drum on the floor, then that is a kick drum.
A normal drum set is comprised of 1 snare drum, 1 kick drum, 1 floor tom, 2 hanging toms, 1

Effects Of Exponential Population Growth
1) What is exponential population growth? I found this a bit confusing the more I researched it.
My understanding of Exponential is when something grows at a rate that doubles 2, 4, 8, 16, 32,
etc. However, it has a little different context when applied to population. The explanation I found
that seems the clearest is as a populations per capita (individual) growth rate stays the same
regardless of population size, the population grows faster and faster as it gets larger (Khan,
2017). 2) Is the global population growing exponentially and why? This answer (to me) can be
yes and no. According to Roser and Ortiz Ospina (2017), actual growth is declining, but the
population is rising. In the 20th century, the world s population quadrupled; but will not double
in the 21st. The fastest doubling period was 1950 1987 (37 years) when the population grew
from 2.5 billion to 5 billion. Since 1962 when the growth rate was 2.1%, the growth rate has
slowed along with the doubling rate. It is also estimated that the world s population will reach
11 billion by 2088, but will have taken nearly 100 years to get there. As resources begin to taper
off, so will growth this is known as Logistic Growth. I do not believe we are there yet, however,
we are heading there. I do not know if this is an indicator or not, but Japan is experiencing a
population shift where the elderly outnumber the younger and is expected to increase in the coming
decades and the population is shrinking

The Bodily Resurrection Of Jesus
The bodily resurrection of Jesus was the turning point of history and is central to the sermons
throughout the book of Acts. To the apostles, the bodily resurrection was not an isolated event.
Instead, it could be considered as a crowning seal to the whole unified revelation of God s
redemptive plan, Acts begins with a statement that Jesusappeared to the apostles from time to time,
and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive (Acts 1:3 NLT). Peter states that
being a witness of the resurrection was a fundamental qualification for apostleship (Acts 1:21 22),
so the resurrection assumes a vital place in the apostolic preaching. In Peter s sermon at Pentecost,
he says, Godraised him from the dead freeing him from the agony of death because it was
impossible for death to keep its hold on him (Acts 2:24 NIV). Similarly, Peter refers to our Lord as
this Jesus whom God raised up (Acts 2:32). In later sermons Peter refers to Jesus as God s servant
whom he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, biblical teachings emphasize the fact that God is eternal. Since Christ s bodily
resurrection serves as a foundational aspect of the Christian faith, it means that it represents the
abundance and eternity of life as prophesied. The bodily resurrection of Christ looks forward to
the future resurrection of every individual that believe in God (1 Corinthians 15:13 18). Last
year I held my dad s hand as he passed from this life. It was a sad moment, because I will miss my
dad. And at the same time, because of the resurrection of Jesus, I have hope. Death no longer is the
end. The resurrection of Jesus changed everything. The resurrection demonstrates that Jesus is the
Christ who fulfills Jewish prophecies (Psalm 16). The Psalm wasn t used to prove the resurrection,
but rather the messianic status of Jesus, which would have been crucial in delivering messages to the

Canadian Confederation
This historical study will examine the complex provincial affiliations related to Canadian
Confederation that demanded complex political maneuvers to unify the Anti Confederate party and
the Confederate Party to support the Quebec Resolutions of 1865. The Anti Confederate vantage
point of George Etienne Cartier s Parti Bleus was a primarily French region, which sought its own
sovereign country. More so, the Atlantic/Maritime colonies of New Brunswickand Nova Scotia
rejected the idea of a Canadian federal government, which was based on the political leadership of
William Annand of Nova Scotia and Albert J. Smith of New Brunswick. In contrast, the
Confederate leadership of James A. MacDonald in Ontario sought to unify Canadadue to the rising

The lack of political representation under the Union Act of 1840 provided very few rights for
local government, which was perceived as a danger if the new confederate policies were to be
instituted in 1864. In this case, William Annand s leadership in the Anti Confederacy Party in
Nova Scotia provided more seats in the provincial legislature, which resulted in a rejection of the
Quebec resolution (Beck 56). More so, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were often marginalized
in these discussions, since they were not as economically powerful as Quebec or Ontario. In this
case, the Confederacy Party of Nova Scotia, under the leadership of Charles Tupper, had
temporarily failed to win over the people to federalization. The distrust between the Nova Scotia
parliament and the mainland provinces was a major barrier to Confederacy due to a lack of
representational government under the Union Act:
In Nova Scotia, William Annand contended: It was a matter of very serious import to the people of
this province when they learned from such an authority that their rights and privileges were to be
swept away without their being consulted (Ajzenstat

President Bush was open to progressing minority groups but he made few attempts to change the
conservative direction of the past civil rights policies. Actual change did not come about until
Clinton s presidency when he gave several apologies to minority groups who had been
discriminated against and mistreated by American society and government throughout history. He
publicly honored 9 black students who led the effort for segregation in the public schools in 1957.
Clinton s main goals during his presidency was to create a unified and integrated society that
allowed harmony between races. His reformist outlook allowed great improvements to be made in
the decade; however, unity had not been achieved yet.
Despite hip hops popularity in our culture during the 1980 s many people disagreed with its

African American youths. Money and fame got the best of most artists but the popularity of
gangster life portrayed in hip hop was frowned upon. There was no turning back though for their

How Stock Market Operates It is easy to understand why many people lose a lot of money when
they invest in stock market, because the process of choosing the stock and investing is confusing.
Fortunately, the market itself is not as complicated or confusing as people think. To completely
understand the stock market and how it operates, will potentially help an investor to make good
investment decision. The basic definition of the stock market is the place where anyone can sell
and buy shares of the company. The trading begins when the company decides to make shares
available for public and what you get when you purchase a stock is a percentage ... Show more

For example, if expected earnings is good, the stock price will be driven up and then sold after
earnings announcement because the stock value is believed to have already achieved the
maximum point. Investors usually do not receive any of the company s profit even if they are
the shareholders of that company. In some cases, an investor on the big company will be able to
receive some of the company s profits called dividend. However, this does not apply to all
companies because they want to obtain their high profits in order to be able to pay for future
growth; this is called keeping cash in hand. Some investors have preference over another, some are
more interested in receiving dividends than in growth of the company. So the choice of investment
will entirely depend on your goals.
Science and Technology as Predictors of Stock Performance In this second paragraph, our main
focus is on how science, technology and stock performance related are and how science is used as a
stock performance s indicator. To begin, one of the most important objects that I found about
technology analysis is to completely understand how investing in stock market or technological
change can create economic benefits. However, the research study form Zhen Deng, shows that the
relationship between investing in economic performance country and are comparatively

Cyril Of Alexandria
St. Cyril of Alexandria: Defense of the TheotГіkos Jobin Thomas Introduction to Church History
September 12, 2015 St. Cyril of Alexandria, the Bishop of Alexandria (which is a Mediterranean
port city in Egypt) is one of the most renowned Fathers and Doctor of the Church. He was conferred
the title Doctor of the Church by Pope Leo XIII in 1882. At the beginning of the 5th century,
theological controversies on the understanding of the mystery of the incarnation and the title of
TheotГіkos bestowed on Mary erupted. One St. Cyril s most prominent teachings is his defense of
Mary as the TheotГіkos against Nestorius who preferred the term Chistotokos. Nestorius denial of
the title of TheotГіkos implies that Mary was not the Mother of God, and therefore God had not
taken human form in the person of Jesus Christ. Mary was simply the mother of an exemplary
man. However, through a careful examination of St. Cyril s defense of Mary as the TheotГіkos, we
will come to see why Nestorius position cannot be held and was condemned at the Council of
Ephesus in 431. Biography of St. Cyril of Alexandria Why St. Cyril of Alexandria was chosen for

All Quiet Chapter Summary
The Book Quiet challenges cultural Biases for and against extroversion and Introversion. The
book focuses on the different personality types, and how each type has its positive and negative
effects. Introverts are generally people who are often more reserved, contemplative and passive. In
the U.S, The extrovert personality is dominant. Assertiveness, charisma, social dominance reflects
a superior type of person. In this book Susan Cain argues against this bias. The first chapter begins
with the summary of the life of David Carnegie, One of the first nationally recognized promoters
of the extrovert Ideal. His class, lectures and the book he wrote focused on the extrovert personality

This chapter tells us that regardless of our temperament or preferences, we can all appreciate the
importance of being flexible and adaptive, particularly in social situations. It focuses on when
introverts should act more extroverted. A theory called the free trait theory is discussed in this
chapter, according to this model individuals can take on different personality types for short
spurts at a time, but doing this also has its effects. It leads to fatigue and exhaustion. An important
question which follows leads to an important concept, the question is not whether you can fake it,
but rather if you should fake it? The concept explains that you can take on different personality
types for short spurts of time but taking on traits that are otherwise outside your normal comfort
zone is taxing even under the best of circumstances. When you find yourself doing things for a
cause you don t really believe in ,it can cause distress with real implications on your physical and
mental health. So it is important for each of us to know our limits and know we are true to our
convictions when we decide to take on charecteristics outside our normal

I would set up new policies to reduce the homelessness worldwide. However, first I would identify
each category based on one s situation. It is certain that many homeless people are judged as
mentally ill or addicts, as this is true for the majority of the homeless people. Surely, not all are
necessarily mentally ill or addicts. For this reason, all situations have to be classified by one s
mental state, drug addiction, financial hardship or abuse. Based on theses classification I would
create a policy for each category as following; all the homeless will have health benefits to obtain
the proper care and treatment based on their current condition, food will be a part of the benefits
to maintain their health intact, and a home will be provided as a limited once in a lifetime benefit
for those that are not disabled. With this being said, I am setting a time frame for all individuals
that have been helped to seek employment within the first year. In addition, counseling and drug
testing will be mandatory for some individuals, at the start of the application as well as any random
day within the year. Definitely, policies are very important to understand the rules and regulations

Postcolonial Writing In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart is a modern example of postcolonial literature and is one of the
most influential pieces of its genre. Postcolonial writing presents important themes and lessons of
justice, equality, and freedom that can be applied to present times. It reminds us of how important
our freedoms are and why we need to protect them. The colonized write about their exploitation and
show how there is persecution in their colonized society. Postcolonial authors use specific methods
to undermine their colonizers and reveal their backward logic. Things Fall Aparthas various
examples of meta narrative, decolonization struggles, and colonial discourse worked in throughout
the novel. Chinua Achebes writing styles showcase these techniques to subvert his European
colonizers.
Meta narrative is an important method that postcolonial authors use to show the colonizer s
intolerance in the way they structure their stories. These authors point out these strategic ways that
colonizers write so you can more easily see their bias and prejudice when addressing the colonized.
Things Fall Apart has many instances of meta narrative, both big and small.
One clear meta narrative example that Chinua Achebe writes: The story of this man who had
killed a messenger and hanged himself would make interesting reading. One could almost write a
whole chapter on him. Perhaps not a whole chapter but a reasonable paragraph, at any rate. There
was so much else to include, and one must be firm in

that it thrives in cold low light situations and it kills off local vegetation. The Ivy plants thrived on

An issue in the healthcare field when discussing drug dependence in the patient population is the
stigma that follows these individuals. These patients are struggling with an addiction process that
most nurses and other healthcare workers do not completely understand. As a result of this
disconnect between patient and nurse there is often a lack of truthful communication from the
patient for fear of having this stigma affect the treatment they receive. In this article a real situation
was discussed in which a patient was not properly medicated for pain after a cholecystectomy

Alcohol and Drug Services program. This individual was stigmatized and put through intense pain
based on the decisions made by staff that who took it upon themselves to make choices for her

Bowen Family s System Theory And Structural Family Theory...
Introduction
According to Bowen, we have less autonomy in our emotional lives than we like to think. Most of
us are more reactive to one another than we realize. Bowen s theory describes how family, as a
multigenerational network of relationships, shapes the interplay of individuality and togetherness,
using five interlocking concepts differentiation of self, multigenerational emotional processes,
emotional cutoff, and societal emotional processes (Nichols Davis, 2017). It is the nature of a family
that its members are intensely connected emotionally. Often people feel separate or disengaged

She was so preoccupied with spending time with me she hardly ever made time for herself nor

  • 2. Speech On King Henry Viii Henry VIII of England On June 28, 1491 King Henry VIII was born at Greenwich Palace in England. He was the third child of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. ( Henry VIII Biography.com. ) The first child of Henry VII and Elizabeth was a boy named Arthur. The second child was a girl named Margaret. The fourth child was a little girl named Mary. He also had three other siblings, but sadly they did not survive their early childhood. When Henry was young, his parents encouraged him in his studies. Since Henry studied so much, he became a very clever boy. He also loved writing poems. In 1502, Henry s older brother dies of an illness at age 15. Due to Arthur s death, Henry became the heir apparent to the English throne. Many people believed he was going to be a great king because he had received a great amount of schooling and he spoke many languages. Henry was also very athletic. He was very experienced in jousting, hunting, tennis, and archery. As Henry grew older, he proved that he would rule tyrannically due to his thirst for blood and power. He was not only selfish, but also handsome. Other people even stated he had a hearty personality. ( Henry VIII Biography.com. ) Bloodshed seemed to be the typical method to solve Henry s problems. Henry made his mark as king who would not let anybody in his way. He soon charged his father s two ministers, Orman 2 Sir Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley with treason. In 1510, the two ministers were executed. Another completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Track And Football Similarities Many people don t understand every aspect of what goes, or what is happening in every sport. Yet, when it comes down to each sports there are many aspects that strike as similar, but there are also many differences. The sports of football and track are both sports that I have experience with and understand every aspect of the sport. There are many similarities and differences between the two sports of football and track which define them and make them understandable. These sports may seem like polar opposites but the similarities between the two are endless. The similarities include the individual battle to the team aspect of the sport. The event of throwing in track is very individualized since its only you that steps into the ring. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting with the simplest of differences; in track you throw a sixteen pound ball while in football the ball is about one pound. The implement that is used in track is a sphere that has is a little bit larger than your palm. While in football the ball is an inflated, elongated oval that has points at each end of the ball. Also in football, with the position that I play, I can t legally carry the ball while in track I have to throw the implement. With one of the similarities between track and football being the team aspect, but the difference is that track is all individual events while football is one big event. Track is a sport that has individuals fill roles in a single event, but football has a team of eleven players working together all at once. Another difference between the two sports is how points are acquired. In football you are able to acquire points at any time throughout the event. You can score point such as one point, two points, three points, or six points depending on how your team decides to score. On the other hand, in track it s only after each event is over, and the points are awarded to which place you get in your event. First place gets ten points and the point decrease the worse you place in your event. Also you score points as a team working together in football, and on the other hand in track you score points individually which add up to a team s score. Between football and track the lists of similarities and differences are endless. The comparison between the sports doesn t make one better than the next, it just helps understand it. Finding and understanding the differences between the two sport help many realize what is happening and how each sport is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Wuthering Heights Victim vs. Victimizer Victim vs. Victimizer Readers often pity literary characters who play the role of a victim. In Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Heathcliff: an outsider brought into the wealthy Earnshaw family, Hindley: the eldest Earnshaw child with a strong dislike for Heathcliff, and Hareton: the orphaned child Heathcliff takes in to raise, are victims, yet they evolve to perpetuate the abuse they suffered. Being able to be or become a victim or victimizer show the complexity of these characters. Emily Bronte manipulates readers to pity Heathcliff, Hindley, and Hareton, in spite of the hideous pain they inflict on others. John Hagan states, Wuthering Heightsis such a remarkable work partly because it persuades us to forcibly pity victims and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heathcliff a man? If so, is he mad? And if not, is he a devil? (Bronte 106). Isabella questions Heathcliff s humanity, revealing that Heathcliff uses his pain to fuel the harm he inflicts on others. Hareton Earnshaw, a victim of Hindley, Heathcliff, and Cathy, stands up for himself, shocking the reader s perception of his character. Hareton is a victim of his father s alcohol abuse and gambling addiction. These addictions are a result of Frances death and the reader becomes sympathetic towards Hindley; however, Hareton is the innocent victim affected by the lack of care from his father. Hareton is a toddler when Hindley holds him over the railing of a staircase, threatening his life. Once Hindley dies, Heathcliff takes on the responsibility to care for young Hareton. He does not know that he is being used as part of Heathcliff s plan to get revenge on Hindley for abusing him as a child. Heathcliff wishes to keep Hareton ignorant and uneducated in an effort to degrade him. When describing Hareton, Nelly, the house servant, says, He appeared to have bent his malevolence on making him a brute: he was never taught to read or write; never rebuked for any bad habit which did not annoy his keeper; never led a single step towards virtue, or guarded by a single precept against vice (Bronte 152). Hareton is a victim to society because he is kept an uncivilized and ignorant young man. The reader feels sympathetic towards him because he is made to be an inferior ... • 5. Human Dive Response; Changes in Heart Rate While Resting... The Changes of Heart Rate of Students during Human Dive Response when Resting and Submerged Abstract The dive response is known more popularly as a mammalian dive reflex. It is a survival mechanism built into mammal s bodies, essentially. Over the years, scientists have been determined to find what triggers mammals to have a decreased heart rate when submerged under water allowing them to stay under the water longer when they do not typically live under water. In this experiment, we tested three different conditions in the dive response to see whether heart rate decreased with each treatment. To characterize the dive response, we measured subjects heart rates at rest and with their face submerged under a tub full of room... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had the same body posture but the only difference was not actually being submerged. The first part of this experiment was used as a control for the second and third experiment done. The second and third experiments had different treatments and were compared to the first experiment. The purpose of our latter portion of the experiment was to t test the prediction that movement when submerged and breathing while on land can cause the heart rate to decrease in the dive response. Material and Methods Each student got a white tub and filled it up with tap water from the sink. Students were paired with two or three other people and formed their groups. Each group got 1 stopwatch, 1 thermometer, and also learned how to each other s pulse. The temperature of the water used from the sink were adjusted beforehand to about 23В°C; room temperature. Water temperature was not re adjusted to be hotter or colder. All tests were conducted in the same posture; leaning over the lab table with elbows resting on the table and the head down. Students worked in groups of three to four, and each one took turn being the experimental subject, taking the pulse and handling the stopwatch. To measure the radial pulse manually, the subject s palm was facing upward. The index and middle fingers were used to locate the pulse between the radial bone, which is on the same side as the thumb, and with a slight pressure, the pulse could be found. ... • 6. Comparing Hammurapi s Laws And The Book Of Exodus Goring Ox Law Many people do not realize how many laws people had to follow in the ancient east. The Hammurapi s Laws and the readings from Exodus 21 23 have many similar qualities. But just like everything else they can be analyzed differently when they are being compared. While throughout both readings they talk about the goring ox law. And seeing how that one specific law can be viewed differently it shows how unlike the two places were. In one place they were realizing how much God does for them, and how he provides to them if they follow his laws or commandments. Whereas in the other (around Hammurapi) location Hammurapi just talks about they are following the laws, and them getting nothing in return. In the book of Exodus, it shows how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in The New Interpreter s Study Bible it shows just that If the ox has been accustomed to gore in the past and its owner has been warned but has not restrained it, and it kills a man or a woman, the ox should be stoned, and its owner shall be put to death. And that is the same in Hammurapi s Laws as well. But what also is noticed is that if you have money you can pay off your death. As it is stated in Exodus 20 40, the owner of that ox can pay for redemption If ransom is laid upon him (the owner of the ox), he must pay whatever is laid upon him to redeem his life. The NRSV rendering ... the owner shall pay whatever is imposed for the redemption of the victim s life. It does not seem right because the victim is dead so the money should not count for it. But it goes into explaining that the victims life is an interpretative addition. And throughout those two examples, you can see that the owner of the ox is only penalized if he knows his ox is killing people. If he does not know that his ox is killing people he does not get penalized or in other words put to death. Also, the ox is only killed if the owner knows about it. If the authorities do not contact the owner then the ox lives. In the bible the slave s lives are more valued then when they were killed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Nationalism in a Multicultural Society Nationalism is exclusionary by definition. In a well argued essay, compare the positive and negative effects of nationalism within a multicultural or multiethnic society. In your answer, discuss the problems that a multicultural society poses to the formation of national identity and why you do or do not believe that nationalism is compatible with the liberal state s emphasis upon individual rights and freedoms. The Age of liberal democracy is also the Age of nationalism (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Throughout history, the relationship between nationalism and the emergence and proliferation of the liberal democratic state has been closely intertwined. Examples of democratic states that rose in tandem with nationalism are the French ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He carried out genocide on the German Jews in order to create the perfect Aryan race. Hitler successfully turned the Germans against each other based on anti Semitic ideals. From this point of view, nationalism and the politics of ethnic cleansing represent the dark side of democracy (Bernard Yack, 2003) . National identity becomes horribly wrong, especially in multinational societies, when people sometimes rank identities hierarchically, leading to the rejection of another nation as inferior. The modernist theories imply that until the beginning of the 19th century, almost no one had more than local loyalties. National identity and unity were originally imposed from above, by European states, because they were necessary to modernize the economy and society. In this theory, nationalist conflicts are an unintended side effect. For state theorists, pervasive loyalty or devotion to the polity is purposefully encouraged through the allocation of services and privileges, with the state adjudicating disputes to bolster unity (Bernard Yack, 2003) . Ernest Gellner, a philosopher and social anthropologist, argued that nations are a by product of industrialization. Modernization theorists regard the printing press and capitalism as necessary conditions for nationalism. The greater the group nationalism, the greater the group homogeneity of attitudes, beliefs, language spoken and ways of behaving, the greater is the group cohesiveness. Partly as a result of ... • 8. 21 Day Challenge Research Paper The 21 day challenge was a great experience for me, and I think it overall made me a happier person. It was easiest for me to just set apart a time each night to journal about a positive experience, write down three things I am grateful for, and pray. For me writing three things I was grateful for each day was the aspect of this challenge that increased my happiness the most. It is easy for me to just think about all the negative aspects of my life and not really think about all the positives, so by writing them down each day it made me realize how much I have to be grateful for. I realized that most of the day I would focus on the bad things that happened, so it was nice to focus on all the good parts of my life. When I started the challenge,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the time there are million things going on, so a few minutes to not think about things like work and school was very relaxing or me. Overall I don t think praying made me much happier, but it did help me because it was a time to just be alone with my thoughts. Completing a random act of kindness each day was somewhat challenging at first because I would forget about doing it, and I would remember later at night and have to do something before going to bed. However later in the challenge I found it much easier to remember to complete these random acts of kindness. After completing these acts of kindness, I felt much happier because it is a good feeling knowing you have helped someone. I felt good knowing that I helped someone or made their day a little better. Overall, I think this challenge increased my level of happiness because it made me realize I have a lot to be thankful for, and there are many more positives in my life than what I realized. When I looked through my notebook consisting of the positive experiences and the 3 things I was grateful for it was very nice that instead of just remembering the bad things that happened those days I now can remember the good things. I have a lot more to be happy about than I thought I did going into this challenge. I now find myself realizing things that I am grateful for more often and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Essay about Report on We Were Soldiers I will Leave No One Behind Extended Essay of We Were Soldiers The Vietnam War was a nightmare for many soldiers. It re defined the meaning of war to an entire generation. As the conflict grew it became known around the world that this was a war that could not be won. After this was realized by America the main focus became to get out instead of getting a victory . In the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, directed by Randall Wallace, a true account of the first major battle in Vietnam is given. At the beginning of the film he introduces to us many of the soldiers and their families. This is a very smart technique, because it ensures that the audience not only will care about each one, but also tell them apart. Wallace exemplifies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another interesting aspect about this film is that Hal Moore took the leading role in being a father like figure to all his troops when they went into battle, but also Julie Moore became a leader whenever there was grieving and sadness upon the wives that had lost their husbands. She was always there to support the wives and help them through the tough times. The year is 1965 and Lt. Col. Hal Moore is the leader of the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry. Moore is assigned to lead his men into battle in the Ia Drang Valley, commonly known as The Valley of Death . This would be the first major battle between American and North Vietnamese soldiers(a.k.a Vietcong). Four hundred of Moore s men were drawn into an ambush, trapped for many days, and bombastically outnumbered by the Vietcong. Instead of giving up and retreating, they stayed and fought to the end. Moore s commanding officer Sgt. Major Plumer(played by Sam Elliot) is a cocky drill sergeant who is by Moore s side most of the battle. Plumer is remembered for his audacious and insane one liners through out the movie and his un hindered willingness to kill the enemy. Although early on he seems to be incapable of any outward sign of emotion, Plumer did show some grief and sadness in one of the last scenes of the movie when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Leadership Challenge Of General George S. Patton... There are a number of qualities that quantify good leaderships and good leaders. According to Kouzes and Posner in their book The Leadership Challenge, all successful leaders have (5) practices in common. They Model the Way , Inspire a shared vision , Challenge the process , enable others to act and encourage the heart (15). Never is there a more important time to have exemplary leadership, than in a time of war. Both the American Civil War and World War II showed what was possible through good leadership. From abolishing slavery and preserving the Union, to fighting tyranny and oppression abroad, both events in American history had a profound impact on all those involved. The impact would most certainly be different if not for the leadership of Colonel Lawrence Chamberlain of the Union Army during the Civil War and General George S. Patton during World War II. Both leaders possessed the 5 practices essential for god leadership, yet both leaders to different approaches to accomplish their goals. The leadership of General George S. Patton can be viewed as an example of transactional leadership. This type of leadership makes followers of an organization achieve objectives through rewards and punishment . This can be shown in the scene in Patton where he is meeting his new soldiers for the first time. As he is driving through the streets of North Africa, he sees his fellow soldiers are poorly dressed and not all in uniform. Soldiers had just finished a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. A Sieve By Kamala Markandaya Imperialism is when a nation dominates the politics, economy, and society of a weaker, foreign nation. The motives behind this are for economic benefits, spreading of a religion, nationalism, and racism. While this benefits the imperialists, it can do damage to the imperialized country. For example, it can change the social structure, education system, ideology, distribution of wealth or economy in favor of the dominating nation. This is the case when the British exploited India for their resources, calling India the Jewel of the Crown for producing a huge profit India s .state during British rule can be seen in the novel Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, which follows the lifetime of an Indian woman named Rukmani who had faced many changes and painful experiences due British imperialization. Throughout the course of her life, Rukmani can be seen interacting with a white man named Kenny, who was a doctor that once treated her so she may bear a boy. Kenny is a complicated character, helping the Indian people yet viewing them as inferior and treats them coldly. Rukmani and Kenny s relationship with each other is a microcosm of the social, economic, and political dynamics between Britain and India around the mid twentieth century. In the relationship between Rukmani and Kenny, Kenny establishes dominance over Rukmani, looking down on her and viewing her as a fool for suffering in silence. • 12. The Pros And Cons Of Belgian Federalism Dr. Wilfried Swenden, a professor at Edinborough University in his research paper called Belgian Federalism: Basic Institutional Features and Potential as a Model for the European Union , argues that there are positive as well as negative aspects as Belgium as a federal state. The good things about it is that it managed to lower the amount of tension between the different language speaking groups. He supports it by stating that the amount of demonstrations has gone down since federalization of the country and that that can be linked to the success of the government. One of the critiques that is often raised that it is very costly. Certainly, the process itself costs money, however, it could lower the expenses by stopping some of the costly proto federal practices aimed at concealing disputes between the two Communitiesin a unitary context (Swenden, 2003). He also argues that the state of public finance is better nowadays than in was before the reforms. One of his strongest arguments is that people have actually started identifying more with Belgiumthan before when they allowed to identify with their region too. Swenden calls it the Moreno question the share of citizens who have been willing to shift their identity to the Belgian end of the continuum has increased, rather than decreased over time (Swenden, 2003). Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013). Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced costproviding stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the qualification of pricediscrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit. Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking. • 16. The Threat Of Liberty Equality Based Societies By Alexis... Threat to Liberty in Equality Based Societies While traveling across the United States, Alexis de Tocqueville recorded how democracy operates and the roles of its participants in, Democracy in America. Tocqueville demonstrates his admiration of the American democratic system and Americans dedication to freedom, equality, and supporting one another. Despite these praises, there is also a looming danger against liberty in not only America, but in all societies based on equality. The most imminent threat to liberty in these societies is despotism as it prevents individuals from exercising their natural freedoms and rights. Tocqueville proposes resolutions to this threat, such as, governmentdecentralization and civil associations. Despotism flourishes in equal societies due to individuals isolating themselves and forming a centralized governing institution. As stated by Tocqueville, Equality places men beside one another without a common bond to hold them. Equality disposes them not to think of those like themselves... (485). With aristocracies, a society not concerned with equality, there is a ligature between individuals within each socioeconomic class. For instance, the noblemen associate with noblemen, while the poor associate with the poor. However, with societies based on equality, mankind is no longer divided by their means. A Study On The Weaken The Colon s Normal Function It is strictly advised to follow the procedure as detailed in the Gerson basics workshop to avoid misuse of coffee enemas which could potentially weaken the colon s normal function, for they tend to extract large amount of potassium from the body. Minimal consumption of protein, fat foods, and ample amount of fresh fruit and vegetables can be adverse to the system; however, Charlotte Gerson makes a comparison of humans to elephants who are much larger mammals and survive on a plant based organic diet, for they make up for the missing nutrients with other plant supplements. It is believed that the glasses of fresh, raw carrot/apple, green leaf juices, organic fruits, vegetables and whole grains can compensate for the missing elements and when taken together in the right balance as instructed by the Gerson practitioners. Consequently, it is strongly advised not to mix the Gerson diet with other diets as the balance could potentially be thrown off. In addition, the majority of fruits and vegetables on the Gerson diet are mainly positive on the alkalinity chart which adds to their effectiveness as cancerthrives in an acidic environment. The liquid form is preferred for the diet as it is a more efficient method to get the most nutrients into the system in comparison to a solid diet. The first thing you might wonder is how I could possibly know this or you may even want to see evidence to support my claim. However, experts have shown several different ways to convey that we do, in fact, perceive colors differently. Few things have been proven in distinguishing perception, but there are copious amounts of evidence suggesting that we perceive color differently because of our brains, past experiences, and our genetics. Perception is the state of being or process of becoming aware of something through the senses. In addition to the five senses, perception also includes proprioception, which allows people to detect the position of one s body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The brain starts to determine a color once the signal reaches the retina. The signal is then analyzed by nerve cells and compared by neighboring cones and they calculate whether the light is more blue yellow or red green. After that, the colors are divided into several pathways in the brain where they are processed and identified. Recent evidence has come to show that the processing systems in our brains are also perceptual systems, and that color is processed before motion. This means that you are able to identify the color of a movement, before the movement itself (webexhibits.org). For visual processing to grow and develop, you need to have several visual experiences during critical periods after birth. This makes it exceptionally difficult for people who are born blind who later have their vision restored to perform basic functions. In an experiment that was conducted with monkeys, it was suggested that color perceptions comes from some of the experiences we ve had in the world. The scientists who conducted the experiment found male squirrel monkeys to be the best independent variable because they have a form of red green color blindness, which is the most common form of color blindness in humans. The blindness primarily afflicts males because the genes encoding red and green receptors are located on the X chromosome, of which men only have one. • 20. A Christian Perspective On Authority to be a Christian. Weber would consider the priest in this situation a traditional authority figure because he is respected because of the people s belief in the catholic religion. He represents traditional practices and both the elect and sponsors both believe in the power and authority the priest wield because of his authority. He is also legitimate because the priest has been through seminary school and has contractually established his legitimacythrough completion of the program which gives rise to rational legal authority. Sociologist, Durkheim has an alternative perspective on authority. He defines authority as, the bedrock of society. Without authority, man has no sense of duty, only when traditions, codes, and roles have the effect of coercing, directing, or restraining man s impulses can it be said that society is genuinely in existence (Smith, PowerPoint What is Authority). In other words, authority is essential in order to have a functioning society. Inside of the church, social integration is high and there are high forms of regulation. The people of the church are thoroughly involved during service and responds back in unison in response to the priest commands. Everyone has a role, whether the individual is an usher, altar server, or a parishioner. It is the story of a child born in an environment which is fairly hostile who grows up and is able to move away from this hostile environment on a journey of self discovery. This basic structure is, however, where the similarity ends. A Bildungsroman is a novelof development of the central protagonist from birth to a position of stability within the social sphere. This normative form functions as a basis for Ismat Chughtais novel The Crooked Line but instead of being the pattern followed, it is the path not taken. As it avows to depict reality and change is a fundamental feature of reality, it is imperative that the realist novel changes constantly as well. This implies that the structural foundation of a Bildungsroman would also have to be modified in order to make it contemporary and also realist. The nature of this change, especially in the European context is obvious in terms of the transformation of the novel from depicting stability into a genre which hinges on the inherent instability of a society. In his essay on this topic, Franco Moretti in his introduction to The Way of the World argues that the new novel is the transformative novel. In this, he uses the model of the novel of adultery in which the growth of a character is located in the sphere of adultery and thereby is essentially an unstable stability. This instability forms the foundation of the novel form in one more significant aspect; one which is critical for Chughtai s Shaman as well. Youth is important for the central protagonist because it is the site of potential which is hitherto untapped. This potential encapsulates the heroic potential of the protagonist and manifests itself in the larger system of causality in the text. The trajectory which the central protagonist will choose to follow is begun in a young age. The decisions of the character work as milestones against which one may measure the success or the degree of closure provided by the ending. However, as Moretti further elaborates, this Bildungsroman encapsulates within it another paradox; the individual s growth cannot be parallel to societal growth as the social sphere exists in order to suppress the individual. This implies that any authentic Bildungsroman hinges on the discovery of a stable and viable alternative. That the protagonist will in some way find a balance between the self and the world and therefore s/he will be able to develop personally as well as socially. This developmental ... • 32. Interstitial Migration Of Lymphocytes. 3. Interstitial migration of lymphocytes in non lymphoid organs. 3.1. T cells Targeting infected or transformed cells in an inflammatory milieu is a complex and multifactorial process. To mediate their effector functions, primed CD8+ and CD4+ T cells need to migrate into the inflamed organs and initiate adaptive immune responses. After homing into the inflamed tissue, T cells require presentation of the cognate antigen MHC complex on the surface of the target cells before effector functions can be initiated. In case of T cells, the identification and neutralisation of these target cells can be challenging, as the number of target cells in most cases is much lower than the tissue resident and/or inflammatory immune cells within the milieu. Moreover, successful initiation of effector T cell function results in lower abundance of target cells therefore T cells need to scan larger regions within the tissue for increasingly rare target cells. Similarly, the complex inflammatory environment presents several other challenges that may impede successful navigation of effector T cells like the presence of various chemotactic cues, pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and alterations in the extracellular matrix (ECM). To successfully navigate through such a complex inflammatory milieu, T cells have devised novel migratory strategies. Culture and religion have had a great impact on decision making regarding male circumcision. Many believe that circumcision offers some medical health benefits, such as, the reduction of the risk of urinary tract infection, protects against penile and cervical cancer, and decreases the incidence of sexual transmitted disease. • 39. Effects Of Exponential Population Growth 1) What is exponential population growth? I found this a bit confusing the more I researched it. My understanding of Exponential is when something grows at a rate that doubles 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc. However, it has a little different context when applied to population. The explanation I found that seems the clearest is as a populations per capita (individual) growth rate stays the same regardless of population size, the population grows faster and faster as it gets larger (Khan, 2017). 2) Is the global population growing exponentially and why? This answer (to me) can be yes and no. According to Roser and Ortiz Ospina (2017), actual growth is declining, but the population is rising. In the 20th century, the world s population quadrupled; but will not double in the 21st. The fastest doubling period was 1950 1987 (37 years) when the population grew from 2.5 billion to 5 billion. Since 1962 when the growth rate was 2.1%, the growth rate has slowed along with the doubling rate. It is also estimated that the world s population will reach 11 billion by 2088, but will have taken nearly 100 years to get there. As resources begin to taper off, so will growth this is known as Logistic Growth. I do not believe we are there yet, however, we are heading there. To the apostles, the bodily resurrection was not an isolated event. Instead, it could be considered as a crowning seal to the whole unified revelation of God s redemptive plan, Acts begins with a statement that Jesusappeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive (Acts 1:3 NLT). Peter states that being a witness of the resurrection was a fundamental qualification for apostleship (Acts 1:21 22), so the resurrection assumes a vital place in the apostolic preaching. In Peter s sermon at Pentecost, he says, Godraised him from the dead freeing him from the agony of death because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him (Acts 2:24 NIV). • 53. Catholic Church Visit This weekend, I went down to Boulder to visit my brother and his girlfriend. While I was in Boulder, I was able to go to a Roman Catholic church called the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center. This was a special visit, because it was on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, our sister school! It was sort of like a small town, most of the buildings were separated by the trees. Naturally, the denominational affiliation is Roman Catholicism, from which they uphold beliefs and values of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church is overseen and led by the bishop of Rome and the pope. The congregation was fairly large and by the beginning of the service, every seat was filled. Like my past Site Visit, instead of just individual chairs, there were rows of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before walking to the altar, the priest in the green bowed slightly and then walked behind the altar where the priest in the white had placed down the bible and they both bowed in front of it. After that, they say a type of prayer it seemed, that the whole congregation confesses to sinning and they ask for forgiveness. Afterwards, the choir sang a few more songs and then the priest prayed. After that, the priest then goes on to read some scriptures from the bible and sometime near the end of the service, everyone says the Lord s Prayer , and afterwards, there was some announcements and then, everyone was dismissed. In regards to significant religious symbols, behind the altar was a small black cross with a small jesus nailed to the front of it. In addition, there was an image of the Virgin Mary holding Baby Jesus behind the altar. I went with my brother s girlfriend, Briana, who was a student at CU Boulder. I didn t meet anyone after the service unfortunately, mainly because, I didn t feel very welcome. The mass was an open service, but, I felt very much like an outsider. No one was rude to me at all, but then again, no one was very inviting at the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Heroin Intervention Paper Introduction The research discussed in this paper explores the impact of heroin on the population as well as its impact on the methods healthcare workers use to treat the individuals who are struggling with this addiction. Three articles were analyzed to determine the influence of this issue on society as well as how nurse led rehabilitation can be utilized to improve client outcomes and reduce relapse. This epidemic is quickly becoming one of the leading causes of death in the United States as well as the rest of the world, and as a result new interventions and ideas must be taken into consideration to help improve the outcomes of treatment. Heroinuse in the general population has increased from 373,000 in 2007 to 914,000 in 2014 and drug... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An issue in the healthcare field when discussing drug dependence in the patient population is the stigma that follows these individuals. These patients are struggling with an addiction process that most nurses and other healthcare workers do not completely understand. As a result of this disconnect between patient and nurse there is often a lack of truthful communication from the patient for fear of having this stigma affect the treatment they receive. In this article a real situation was discussed in which a patient was not properly medicated for pain after a cholecystectomy based on the knowledge of the healthcare staff pertaining to her utilization of the Community Alcohol and Drug Services program. This individual was stigmatized and put through intense pain based on the decisions made by staff that who took it upon themselves to make choices for her because of her past opiate use (Hughes and McKay, 2012). This example notes the poor ethical treatment of a patient pain based on discriminatory judgment by the health care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Bowen Family s System Theory And Structural Family Theory... Introduction According to Bowen, we have less autonomy in our emotional lives than we like to think. Most of us are more reactive to one another than we realize. Bowen s theory describes how family, as a multigenerational network of relationships, shapes the interplay of individuality and togetherness, using five interlocking concepts differentiation of self, multigenerational emotional processes, emotional cutoff, and societal emotional processes (Nichols Davis, 2017). It is the nature of a family that its members are intensely connected emotionally. Often people feel separate or disengaged from their family, but this is more feeling than fact. Families so profoundly affect their members thoughts, feelings, and actions that it often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The change in my family s dynamic created significant emotional problems for the entire family, however, I was especially affected as she turned her emotional needs from my father towards me as I was the oldest child. My mother became extremely needy and overly dependent. She excessively relied on my emotional support which precipitated an enormous amount of anxiety. She was so preoccupied with spending time with me she hardly ever made time for herself nor time for her marriage that was on the rock. Essentially, her emotional reaction as a result of my father s absence created significant changes in her parenting style. My mother was often demanding, critical, and resentful about anything I wanted to do outside the family which impeded my need for self autonomy and independence as a developing adolescent. I hardly ever hung out with friends and she repeatedly made excuses why it was not feasible. I often felt trapped as well as lethargic in view of my limited outside socialization and limited participation in outside of the family activities. Most of the time, I was compelled to discard my own personal desires and objectives to placate my mother s needs which precipitated a significant amount of anxiety. I tried to convey my feelings, but both of my parents simply minimized them as disrespectful and inconsiderate. They both frequently accused me of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
