I Am At Manzanar Internment Camp
Barbed wired barracks, portable potties, and partition less showers. My grandfather reminisces his
time spend at Manzanar Internment Camp. While my grandfather stood in the giant shadow of a
30 foot armed tower, 500 acres of Californian dessert enclosed nearly 12,000 Japanese Americans.
In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing the removal
and detainment of anyone in military territory. When armed police went door to door rounding up
Japanese Americans and ordering them straight to the camps as my grandfather asserted, America s
national fear was exploited. My grandfather at the age of sixteen, lost his home, his family, and
notably continued to face several obstacles postwar. Thousands of Japanese Americans during the
1940 s, including Ichiro in John Okada s No No Boy, have had their lives reshaped by new
territories, boundaries and inner conflicts. The lost of family and friends was prevalent as racial
prejudices intensified throughout the nation. While thousands of innocent families were victimized
in the Japanese interment camps and imprisonments during WWII, the overwhelming distress led to
corrupt relationships and inner turmoil. After abandoning everything in our home, everything my
parents had worked for, I was met by assault rifles, searchlights and quarters too small for the
amount of people it accommodated my grandfather assured. The property, belongings, jobs and
businesses were all left behind in the rash fear

Robotic Surgery Pros And Cons
Since its inception, Americans have tried to improve the nation by creating legislature, waging
wars, or inventing new things. Most of the developments in the twenty first century were
detrimental, because of this the American nation is on a negative course towards a collapse
Despite the detrimental use of mankind s creative ability, many advances and positive innovations
were produced. One field especially impacted in the 2000 s was new technology in the medical
care. New technology helps improve lives and in the medical field can even help save lives. An
example of a lifesaving technology is robotic surgery. Robot assisted minimally invasive surgery

In 2014 the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC decided to lower the oil

the oil industry of the United States. This low price would force the oil businesses to lower their
prices to compete and therefore income would be reduced. The OPEC nations would have a
majority of control over the oil market if the US oil industry fades or is driven out of business.

Essay On Deborah Blau
Deborah Blau is a girl troubled with a mental disorder, from which she attempted to commit
suicide at the beginning of the story. Her parents brought her to a psychiatric facility from which
her doctor, Dr. Fried, tries to break down the barriers Deborah places in front of her illness so that
she may not be abandoned, which is her fear. When misunderstand, she escapes to her imaginary
world of Yr; it once was a beautiful place of mythical Gods, but they bring her pain with tyranny,
controlling her in some cases. Deboraheventually opens up to Dr. Fried about this world, in which
she accepts it, rather than denying it, ensuring her patients trust . This gives Deborah a choice
between it and reality after they finish with treatment, but during treatment she wishes for Dr. Fried
to look into a deeper meaning to which Yr demands her. Throughout her stay, Deborah begins to
form friends with the other patients, from which, her doctor leaves in the summer, as Deborah
places the thought in her mind that she is dead. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She relates the pain of her mind to other pains of her body, looking as hypochondria, where no
one believed her, making it hard to trust others. Although as Dr. Fried recognized her pains and
her world as real with large amounts of empathy, it gave Deborah the recognition she has been so
desperately fighting for. The mutilation she gave to herself was over the fear of abandonment she
combated, alongside that of social engagement, both leading to mistrust. Though her doctor s
emotional sympathy she was engaged with led her to choose reality over fantasy over the three
year period this book ruminates over. Although, as schizophrenia, now, is known as a
psychological brain disorder and would be usually treated with drugs, this book, outdated, only

Mini Ice Age Research Paper
According to a study performed by the University of Northumbria (https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/)
of the United Kingdom, Earth s northern hemisphere should be experiencing a mini ice age in the
next 15 years. However, new research shows that this may not be the case after all. This could just
be a case of confusing causation with correlation, but that doesn t forgive the phenomenal news
being released without confirmation and having the claim be refuted mere days later.
The Original Claim
The claim of the new mini ice age first came about after the UK s National Astronomy Meeting
(https://www.ras.org.uk/component/gem/?id=338) suggested that the sun may have a period of
significantly lowered output. This is not a new claim. Solar activity fluctuations ... Show more

On the other hand, even basic science classes teach us that correlation does not equal causation.
Why This is Wrong
The lowered amount of solar activity in the 1600 s is referred to as the Maunder Minimum (https:
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunder_Minimum). The Maunder Minimum was a period of time
where the sunspots were at their lowest in number, appearing as only around 50 as opposed to
their current average of 40,000 to 50,000 over a course of 30 years. This decrease in sunspots
happened approximately the same time as the Little Ice Age, however, the ice age started nearly a
century before the Maunder Minimum occurred and lasted long after it ended.
Solar Change and the Effects on Earth
That s not to say that links between solar activity and Earth s climate don t exist, however; they
clearly do. There are just other factors that may be more influential. For example, the amount of
power the sun produces, or solar irradiance, is reduced by only 0.1% during this time of less
frequent sunspots. However, the amount of ultraviolet output over a solar cycle can deposit energy
in our stratosphere that is a direct causation of colder winters in Europe at

Recidivism In Juveniles Essay
Juveniles offenders demonstrate higher rates of substance abuse indifference to non offending
juveniles. Recidivism increases more often with substance abuse and mirrors a deeper involvement
in the juvenile justice system. The likelihood that a youthful offender will have extensive
interaction with the system is in part due to drugs and alcohol use. Substance abuse has also
produced rebellious behavior in juveniles. More serious offenses are linked with severe substance
abuse and increase the rates of offending. Moreover, the younger the child is at the beginning of
substance use usually reflects greater chances for severe and continuing offending. Potential
prognostication includes gender, personality, early troublesomeness, parental... Show more content

I believe that the geographic environment of where these juveniles live is also a factor when the
involvement of substance abuse is present when dealing with recidivism, meaning how easy it is to
access drugs and alcohol. The root of the problem starts either two places at home or within the
juvenile s peer relationships. There are currently 15 juvenile drug courts here in Michigan. There is
a specialized docket within the juvenile or family court system, which selects delinquency cases. In
some cases, status offenders are designated a certain Judge. Because the juveniles have problems
with drugs and/ or alcohol the youths are referred to this docket. The juvenile drug treatment court
judge maintains close oversight of each case through regular status hearings with the parties and
their guardians. There is a team of representatives from treatment, juvenile justice, social and mental
health services, school, vocational training programs, law enforcement, probation, the prosecution,
and the defense and this is all coordinated by the judge that oversees the whole thing. Over the
course of a year or more, the team meets frequently (often weekly), determining how best to address
the substance abuse and related problems of the youth and his or her family that have brought the
youth into contact with the

La Llorona Loc The Other Side Essay
At the start of La Llorona Loca: The Other Side, Palacios describes growing up when her mother
would tell her scary stories about Llorona Loca. In the first paragraph we see a common theme or
image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s
retelling follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman,
traditionally a mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would
choose to further develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining
demonstrates opposing views to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these
societal expectations of women. As the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender
roles and expectations demonstrated through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona
retelling: The story also states that, as she wailed, she wore a long white gown. (49). The primary
reason that this particular line is so important is that it is the first demonstration of a change of
tone from our author. In the beginning lines, the author appears to be reflective, whereas in this
line she demonstrates sarcasm. There is also particular imagery of the white dress, which has a lot
of cultural/ideological symbolism. The color the dress, particularly its whiteness, symbolisms
virginity/purity, both common attributes placed upon the Latinx body. A critical eye could view
the color of the dress in the La Llorona retelling as a

Hammond s View Of Sexuality As A Social Construction
I think that analyzing sexuality as a social construction, and importantly as one that is fluid
evolving with and responding to the social terrain it is operating within is necessary because it
allows for reflection and revision. I agree with Hammond s sentiment that through erasure black
women have lost the ability to articulate any conception of their sexuality (133, Hammonds),
however I believe it goes beyond a loss of ability. Hammonds claims that not only are people of
color often excluded from spaces that discuss the politics of sexuality, but that when they are
granted space to speak, a queer writer of color may find that defining himself gay is not of the
utmost importance (129). That is to say that the intersection of race and

Origin of the Evergreen Thousands of years ago the town of Maple was full of beautiful maple
trees. These trees were humongous and full of life. Tourists from all around would come to visit
Maple during the summer and fall months to see these trees. In the summer all the maple trees
were a bright green and provided plenty of shade for the people out in the hot sun. In the fall the
maple trees leaves would slowly transition into lovely shades of red, orange, and yellow. Sadly
these colorful leaves would fall off the trees and turn brown the cooler it got outside. Eventually
all the leaves would fall off and all the maple trees were bare branches. Tourists always stopped
visiting during this time. The people of Maple became bitter in

When Veda suffers a loss or encounters tragedy in her life, she doesn t, usually, ask for help. The
way Veda copes with loss is either by crying, solitude, or going with Thomas J. Throughout the
movie, when Veda is upset, she rushes to Thomas J s house to see if he wanted to hang out ot id

movie made me cry because of personal reasons, as well. My mother s mom died when she was 13

In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play is an intimate, personal, and impactful show. It is set in
the 1880 s just as electricity is starting to play a role in people s everyday lives. It takes place in
the home of Dr. and Mrs. Catherine Givings, which also serves as the home of Dr. Givings

Clim Climbing Mount Everest Research Paper
Climbing Mount Everest is more technical than grabbing a big coat and some rope and trudging
to the top. There are weeks of training before hand to acclimate to the absurd altitudes. There is a
base camp and then 4 camps along the route to the top. Each camp allows the climbers to acclimate
and allow themselves to rest. Even then, at such high altitudes, acclimating may only help so much.
High levels of altitude can have effects on a person s body that can range from what would seem
like a cold, to death. Altitude has numerous effects on the body that can cause not only severe harm,
but death. Altitude sickness is very common in climbing Mount Everest. The higher altitude you

Social Medi The Truth
Social Media The Truth Social Media is a hotly debated topic in modern times. On one side,
people say that it can help spread information quickly, or help catch criminals, but on the other,
people often claim that they can be dangerous and that they lack privacy. The truth of the matter
is, Social Networks should be banned, especially for children. Social Media destroys the basic
human ability to interact with others. This is supported by the quote, Communication is
constantly evolving. Some people are as used to seeing their friends online avatar as they are their

Future generations, this one included, will only spend more and more time on sites like these.
Some people would say that Social Media helps catch and prosecute criminals, but the few times
in which this does happen is heavily outweighed by the amount of privacy of which they lack,
and the fact that they often expose users to government and corporate intrusions. A 2012 survey
found that 13 million Facebook users said that they had not set or known about the site s privacy
settings, and another 28% shared all, or nearly all, of their posts publicly. Facebook is infamous
for its lack of security, how it forces users to stay on and use their site and secretly tracks them.
They often make privacy settings hard to find. Most, if not all, of their users would rather keep
their info private, but Facebook and other Social Networking sites often make that a hard thing to
do. Another report declared that the US Justice Department intercepted 1,661 pieces of
information from social networking sites and emails in 2011. With many social media sites being
money focused, they often sell their user s information to shady organizations. These sites expose
their users too much and too often. This is further supported by the fact that the 2009 IRS training
manual teaches agents to scan Facebook pages for information that might assist in resolving a
taxpayer case. Organizations such as this one now even promote social media stalking . It s
immensely difficult to stay and feel safe on

What I Save Money While Doing Laundry Essay
With three kids under 10 in the house, and a husband who works two jobs, laundry is an never
ending, on going chore. Every time I turn around I think the laundry has doubled. This is
especially true in the summertime when the kids go out to the pool a few hundred times a day.
While laundry can be a daunting task, it can also be a costly task. Here are a few ways I save
money while doing laundry: 1. I buy name brand detergent that is on sale and I have a coupon for
it. It is my personal opinion from my own observation that the cheaper stuff just doesn t do as
good of a job as the name brand stuff. By checking the sales ads I can usually find Wisk, Gain, or
even Tide on sale. CVS usually runs Buy One Get One Free sales on these items. I use two
coupons and get a great deal. I try to never spend more than $2.50 per bottle or box for name
brand detergent. 2. Use the cap or the scoop that comes with the detergent appropriately. Notice
that there are littles lines or notches on the cup or scoop with a number. These lines indicate the
load size of the laundry you are doing. For many, many people they just assume that 1 load= 1
full cup of detergent. Use the appropriate amount of soap per load, don t just dump a full cup in
there blindly. 3. I actually use 1/2 of the recommended amount from the detergent cup. If I have a
small load, I fill up the cup 1/2 of the way to line 1. If I have a medium load, I fill up to the 1 line. I
never, ever use more than 1/2 of the cup for even

Intelligence Sharing And The Capabilities Of The Homeland...
Intelligence Sharing and the Capability of the Homeland Security Enterprise What are the
capabilities and limitations of intelligence in supporting homeland security efforts? Since the
deadly terror attacks of 9/11, intelligence gathering for homeland security has improved
immensely. One of the most important developments in our law enforcement structure that has
enhanced our intelligence is the creation of fusion centers. Fusion centers are state and major
urban area focal points for the receipt, analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat related
information between federal; state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT); and private sector partners
(Department of Homeland Security, 2016). These fusion centers are owned and operated by state
and local entities and are supported by federal partners in its many aspects which include
personnel deployment, capacity building, and important and crucial connectivity to federal
systems (Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), 2012, para. 3). For example, the DHS provides
over 70 fusion centers access to the Homeland Secure Data Network or HSDN which allows these
fusion centers to receive federally generated classified threat information. By creating fusion
centers, intelligence gathering and analysis is not contained in the federal level governments from
the SLTT level as well as other entities relevant to this initiatives are involved. This then devolves
and shares homeland security roles to practically all law enforcers from all levels

Early Catholics didn?t believe that the soul entered the fetus until later, 40 days for boys and 90
days for girls. Only in 1869 did the Catholic Church declare that the soul entered the fetus at
conception, therefore rendering abortion murder. Until the second half of the nineteenth century,
the English Common Law was that abortions were permitted until the quickening, that is until the
baby started moving. After that, with the new advances in the medicine field we came to
understand more what happens to a woman?s body during pregnancy and abortions. The abortion
laws were made to protect the women from uncertified abortionists. There is one remarkable legal
battle that changed the American abortion laws to what they are now, Roe v. Wade. It took place in
1973 in Texas. Roe, Norma McCorvey, was an anonymous plaintiff against the State. The ruling,
abortion is legal. It gives the mother the right of whether or not to terminated her pregnancy.
However, that does not give the woman the right to terminate her pregnancy for any reason during

at which it first becomes realistically possible for a fetus to live outside the woman?s body. At that

Need for the IEEE 802 standard
While connecting computers through networks, we need to have set of rules or standards for
the data to travel from one computer to other computers. A very good example of this would be
the rules of the road when driving a car. It is understood why we need traffic rules while driving;
in same sense for data packets to travel from one computer terminal to other terminals, they should
also follow set of rules and regulations. The standards of IEEE 802 help the industry provide
advantages such as, interoperability, low product cost, and easy to manage standards. (EEHerald,

Britain s Policy Of Appeasement
Britain in the 1930s followed a policy of appeasement to retain peace between countries and stop the
fascist powers of Italy and Germany causing disruption. There is a subsequent amount of evidence
to suggest the policy of appeasement was a failure due to events including the Abyssinian Crisis, the
Reoccupation of the Rhineland, The Anglo German Naval Agreement, the Spanish Civil War and
the Anschluss. Although it can also be argued that Britain had some success with preventing the
fascist powers making appeasement successful.
After the First World War, Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versaillesin 1919 outlining
terms and conditions Germans had to accept and abide by. This angered many Germans as it was
felt the terms were too harsh. In the 1930s, the British foreign policy of appeasement aimed to
preserve the peace between nations and prevent war breaking out by negotiating with any issues
that may arise. Britain also aimed to protect the empire as it was under threat as well as working
with the League of Nations although it was weakened after The Great War. These specific aims
were successful to an extent as there was no instant war however, war did break out in 1939 and
it can be argued that appeasement only caused Hitler and Mussolini to gain confidence within their
fascist ideas. The first trial for the British foreign policy in the 1930s was the Abyssinian Crisis of
1935. The country was rich in natural, raw materials and Mussolini sent Italian troops to

The GI Joe doll portrays the image of a man in the military. He dresses in camouflage and carries

looks and countless perfect accessories, the GI Joe doll can relate to her. He has defined
muscles, a smooth tan, and all of his accessories fit him perfectly. These two dolls display sexist
attitudes in many ways. Barbie only moves in five different places, her neck, shoulders, and top
of her legs, whereas, GI Joe can move in twenty one different places. This shows that the male
doll can be more active and mobile but the female doll is restricted to a perfect posture and
cannot do much outside. Because dolls and action figures are emotionally close to children s lives,
they can become the source for discovering and analyzing how popular everyday objects help
construct students sense of identity, politics and culture (Wagner Ott, 252). Children are beginning

Correlation Between Police And Crime Rates
Even if perceptions of police are not directly related to crime rates, Roberts also states that
communities that are polarized on a subject, furthering community instability (and disorganization),
will create a disregard for the institution that failed to regulate public opinion (Roberts, 2005). What
this really means is that although public opinion about policemay not directly impact crimerates,
police relations are a hot topic and the extreme divide that has been created between police
supporters and non supports could, in turn, contribute to increased crime as people are fighting to
take the authority away from the institution that centers at their argument. In reality, trying to make
a linear correlation between public opinion and

Examples Of Isolation In The Ocean At The End Of The Lane
What if I told you, everything you do this very moment is driven by your unconscious desires,
and you had no idea about it? It hides deep in the abyss of your mind, influencing your actions
and thoughts. When a situation pops up, people deal with them according to their comfortability,
but they usually fall under a category defense mechanisms . This can be seen very clearly in Neil
Gaiman s The Ocean at the End of the Lane , as the conflicted characters are seen to have
problems of their own, one of them being loneliness. After much reading, it is observed that the
characters have used defense mechanisms of their own to react to loneliness. The characters of The

Integrated Management Of Projects And Systems
1. Abstract
Software Development has progressed far in recent years, with Agile software development
methodologies contributing to the success of projects and customer satisfaction. This feasibility
study will examine the potential implications involved with implementing the Integrated
Management of Projects and Systems (IMPS) system using an Agile method. The system will assist
Software Engineers in Communications, Requirements Gathering, Quality Control, and project
management. The IMPS system aims to solve remote communications issues and technical
complexity barriers faced by non technical stakeholders involved in software projects, resulting in
decreased operating costs and increased productivity. The system will be introduced to the
organization gradually as it is development, with a minimum of disruption.
2. Study introduction
Information Technology (IT) has become a significant part of any work conducted in a technical
capacity, whether this is via job assistance, or enablement. Communications, record keeping, and
employee management all rely heavily upon IT systems to operate. Engineering jobs rely on IT
systems to augment and assist to a greater degree than other areas due to the technical nature of the
work. Nowhere is this more true than in Software Engineering, where technical details and their
representation is key to the success of any project. It has been found that face to face meetings are
still unmatched in effective communication.

Tapir Facts
Interesting Facts about Tapir
Tapir is an animal that is closely related to a rhino horse. Because of its short prehensile trunk it
resembles a pig. The nose of a tapir is shaped like a short trunk which it uses to grip fruits and
leaves on the tree branches. It most likely grips the tree limb with its trunk and pluck off fruits.
They are the most primitive large animals in the world. Even while been around for 20 million
years, they changed very little. The remains of tapir ancestors have been found on every continent
except Antartica. According to San Diego.org, the name tapir is derived from the Tupi Indian
word tapya (language spoken until 17th century in Brazil) the name Tapirus later came to be by
Brisson. April 27 each year has been set aside and marked as World Tapir Day.

Barn Burning Foreshadowing
In the short story Barn Burning, the narrator, William Faulkner, uses many different types of
descriptions and ways to make the reader think about the whole story. He puts so many conflicts
in the story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way
men put their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols,
conflict, and motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the
expensive rug he soils. Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this
eventually leads to the destruction of the rug. Snopes intentionally messes up this rug that is very
expensive, just to make a point. The rug is a symbol of everything Snopes had pride for and his
occasional opportunities. By him messing it up he shows that anything can be taken away from
you; thus, meaning all his opportunities and pride... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of conflict in this story with fire. Fire is mentioned many times in this short story,
from the burning barn or the roadside fires. Fire is used to represent the honor and the way that
Snopes believes. He uses the fire to burn a barn, which sends Confederate troops go searching for
the Horse thief. He tries to use this fire to give him just one second of fame. All he wants is to be
in the spotlights for one second and he uses fire to do that. The last example is by using motif.
Faulkner uses the motif to show how darkness can take over one person s life. For example,
Snopes beats Sartoris at the roadside camp because he was mad Sartoris was planning to reveal his
guilt at the courthouse. This shows that Snopes doesn t care about the truth, all he cares about is
how his situation is. Snopes plans on burning another barn; however, Sartoris stands up for his own
morality during this whole episode. Snopes significantly cares about the way that he looks in
everyone else s eyes instead of the truth and the

This came to pass through a research group from MIT who over five years analysed the automotive
industry in fourteen countries. It was called lean manufacturing rather than the Toyota production
system to make it easier for competitors and organizations to adopt this type of system.
The concept of lean production in a manufacturing organization basically means to try and

* Policy deployment Focuses on having good communications through the whole structure of the

Through this concept of lean to reduce waste and the many tools of lean production there are plenty
of advantages to observe such as:
* It can reduce overhead fixed cost to 30%
* It reduces the operational cost within an organization
* It can also raise the competiveness of a manufacturing organization
* It is also believed that the implementation of lean can reduce the manufacturing time
* It can also increase profit especially at the start and then helps maintain these earnings
* Plus as we know it can cut nearly all types of waste
* Since the manufacturing lead time is reduced it has a knock on effect that reduces energy costs
* Implementing lean has a keen view of making the workspace as efficient as possible which is a
primary factor in keeping the organization running effectively
* The required workspace is also reduced
* Productivity in a manufacturing organization can be increased as much as 80%
* Customer relations improvements means again reduced waste

Ancient Greece And Modern Medieval Europe
Many historians and scientists regard Europe as completely devoid of interest in the history of
science. Contemptuously, medieval Europe is most often referred to as the Dark Ages, the
epithet clearly illustrating the struggles of the time period and disdain for this part of history. The
modern perception of medieval society is overwhelmingly dominated by a skewed interpretation
of a barbaric, war torn civilization barely surviving through suffrage of plague and poverty that
stifled nearly every aspect of development. Spanning from 500 to 1400 AD medieval Europe
stands as a pale, superstitious shadow of the Greek and Roman ages of reason and high philosophy.
Undoubtedly, the golden era of prosperity that preceded this time is much of the reason why Europe
struggled for many years after its collapse, and additionally, why many historians view it as such an
unimpressive time period. Possibly one of the most popularly known time periods in all of history,
the Roman Empire established itself with a long list of progressive accomplishments in just about
every aspect of its society. A culmination of Ancient Greece and the Hellenistic period, the Roman
Empire s innovatory nature fostered continuously advancing developments, especially in the
sciences. Scientific achievements range from major architectural developments to progress in
astronomy, mathematics and medicine. However, despite the number of scientific advances, it is
hard to argue against almost completely irrefutable

Character Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck
Charles le Chien; a bleu gentleman poodle who prefers a negotiation over any conflict. Born in
Paris, France, Charley was trained and eventually brought into Steinbeck s life. These companions
later travel around America while trying to answer the question What are Americans like today?
With only his necessities and Charley, Steinbeck began his long, overwhelming journey across
America. In Travels with Charley, Steinbeck is greatly influenced by Charley and his actions. As
Steinbeck traveled to Long Island, his relationship with Charley was slowly introduced as they
headed for Niagara Falls. Charley caught it from me, but he is a gallant dog. He came into the
bathroom and that old fool played with the plastic bath mat like a puppy. What strength of
character, what a friend! (Steinbeck 47). From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck
sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character,
as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important
throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey
will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that
Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley
helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with
strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better.
(Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do
for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador,
making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples
in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he
interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees
America as a whole. On page 85, Steinbeck writes I would have to retrace my way at least twenty
miles, find a vet, have Charley vaccinated, and then return. While reading this section, the reader

fulfilling relationship. Love is portrayed differently in various texts and media. Love can be

viewed differently by various people. Lovewill always have a heavy emotional impact whether it is
good or bad. Many people think of love differently depending on their feelings and experiences.
People who experienced love in different ways express their emotions differently. In the text, To

viewed as worth overcoming physical boundaries more than any worldly riches. The narrator
discusses how much her husband means to her. She states that even the world s richest and the

taught. It must be experienced. This method of learning would revolutionize how business and
management is taught in universities, creating social change and bettering society (Mars, Matthew
M. and Gary Rhoades, 435 459).

Taking a Look at Francis AlГїs
Francis AlГїs Francis AlГїs has startled and dumbfounded our contemporary art world time and
again. As a Belgian architect turned artist, now residing in Mexico city, AlГїs is able to offer a
multi cultural approach to the problems and fallacies of today. Although AlГїs is clearly interested
in themes of informal manual labor and homelessness in Mexico, failed promises to assist in the
modernizing of Latin America, and society constructed limits in immigration and movement, his
work tends to lend itself more towards poetic attitudes and moods of ephemera, instead of
adopting a loud and violent feel. His projects rotate around ideas of magical absurdity, which
leaves them open to interpretation and moves political and economic crises into landscapes of
lyric, where they can be re examined. The most significant question he poses is whether such
poetic acts, while underlining the senselessness of particular real situations, can also create a space
for new ways of thinking (1). The way that AlГїs works reflects the fluidity of his ideas, he begins
with a concept. He has spoken about being influenced by everything from fairy tales and children s
book to Belgian Surrealism and early Italian Renaissance painting, and AlГїs has even begun
projects based entirely on an anecdote he has happened upon. Then come the projects themselves,
which are mostly actions and events. Some of these actions require months of developing and
financing, and others are modest and abrupt. Francis will

A Report On Mergers And Acquisitions
Mergers and Acquisitions have always been considered as a .......................... and ever since the
first merger in Nigeria in 1980, Merger and Acquisitions have occurred in most sectors of
Nigerias economy. In 2004, the Central Bank of Nigeria in fulfillment of its mandate to Promote
and maintain of monetary stability and a sound and efficient financial system in Nigeria rolled
out a 13 point rolled out a 13 point reform agenda aimed at consolidating the banking sector and
preventing the occurrence of systemic distress. The most important points of this reform package
were first that, the minimum capitalization of banks be increased from 2 billion naira to 25 billion
naira before the 31st of December 2005 and second, that this aim was to be achieved... Show more

For this reason, many countries are moving towards consolidating their banking system and
Nigeria cannot be an exception. (pg 10) The CBN however noted that there would be some
challenges to this programme and they are enumerated below: o Ensuring that provision of
adequate safety nets and compensation packages are made by the merging banks to meliorate for
potential job losses arising from mergers; o Appropriate mechanisms for protecting possible
disenfranchisement of small depositors who may not be elcomed by the emerging mega banks; o
The regulatory authorities, especially SEC, would need to be empowered to be active in the market
to prevent hreat to competitive market and monopolistic tendencies of mega banks from
consolidation. Also, the NDIC and CBN would need to constantly monitor the activities and
performance of the emerging mega banks to prevent bank distress and failures. (pg 14)
To address some of the issues highlighted by the CBN above, the Investment and Securities Act
2007 was enacted to replace the Investment and Securities Act 1999 and the some of the sections of
the Companies and Allied Matters Act applicable to Mergers and Acquisitions. The Investment and
Securities Act has however been criticized for being very

The Origins and Development of Electronic Dance Music and...
The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife
Musical Culture
The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of
the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of
sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of
computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST
s). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The
development of this new technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic
Dance Music being one of these.
The Moog Synthesizer was the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both
looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough.
Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and
Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant
that artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for
sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for
each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a
bunch of other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40).
It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to
look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic
instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed
duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an
aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the
parameters of the synthesized sound with sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like
Sequential Circuits and Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing
polyphony to be introduced to the electronic music scene. One

Determining Your Writing Style
It may come as a surprise to many, but writing is no longer about the writer and is solely about the
reader. When writing anything, whether it be a press release, a newspaper article, or even an
informative essay, the only person that should be considered is the one that is going to read and
draw conclusions from the writing. The ultimate point of one s writing is to benefit one s reader
through understanding them, writing clearly and concisely, refusing to use methods that mislead
them, and refusing to present information that has no basis of truth.
There are many ways to strengthen one s writing. The best way for writers to optimize their writing
is through understanding their audience. In the essay Determining Your Writing Style (n.d.),...

Methods of propaganda and doublespeak mislead the reader so they can no longer form educated
opinions about the topic. Audiences are expected to be critical and to know how to challenge and
to question, how to make distinctions between propaganda and reasonable argument (Cross, 1977,
p. 150). This expectation is unreasonable because it is the writer s responsibility to not use
misleading methods and to voice his or her opinion without using subtle techniques of persuasion.
Writers should, therefore, avoid using any techniques of propaganda, such as name calling,
glittering generalities, argumentum ad populum, transfer, card stacking, or any of the other
numerous ways to persuade people without their consent. Doublespeak is another technique that
should be avoided by all writers. Doublespeak, as defined in the essay The World of Doublespeak
by William Lutz (1989), is language which pretends to communicate but doesn t, language which
makes the unpleasant attractive, or at least tolerable , and through doing this, it conceals and
prevents one s actual thoughts (p. 178). Doublespeak shrouds and averts thought and should be
avoided by all writers. Not only is a writer who uses doublespeak concerned with distracting the
reader for his or her personal gain, but it also does not consider

While my grandfather stood in the giant shadow of a 30 foot armed tower, 500 acres of Californian dessert enclosed nearly 12,000 Japanese Americans. In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing the removal and detainment of anyone in military territory. When armed police went door to door rounding up Japanese Americans and ordering them straight to the camps as my grandfather asserted, America s national fear was exploited. My grandfather at the age of sixteen, lost his home, his family, and notably continued to face several obstacles postwar. Thousands of Japanese Americans during the 1940 s, including Ichiro in John Okada s No No Boy, have had their lives reshaped by new territories, boundaries and inner conflicts. The lost of family and friends was prevalent as racial prejudices intensified throughout the nation. While thousands of innocent families were victimized in the Japanese interment camps and imprisonments during WWII, the overwhelming distress led to corrupt relationships and inner turmoil. • 5. Mini Ice Age Research Paper According to a study performed by the University of Northumbria (https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/) of the United Kingdom, Earth s northern hemisphere should be experiencing a mini ice age in the next 15 years. However, new research shows that this may not be the case after all. This could just be a case of confusing causation with correlation, but that doesn t forgive the phenomenal news being released without confirmation and having the claim be refuted mere days later. The Original Claim The claim of the new mini ice age first came about after the UK s National Astronomy Meeting (https://www.ras.org.uk/component/gem/?id=338) suggested that the sun may have a period of significantly lowered output. This is not a new claim. Solar activity fluctuations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, even basic science classes teach us that correlation does not equal causation. Why This is Wrong The lowered amount of solar activity in the 1600 s is referred to as the Maunder Minimum (https: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunder_Minimum). The Maunder Minimum was a period of time where the sunspots were at their lowest in number, appearing as only around 50 as opposed to their current average of 40,000 to 50,000 over a course of 30 years. This decrease in sunspots happened approximately the same time as the Little Ice Age, however, the ice age started nearly a century before the Maunder Minimum occurred and lasted long after it ended. Solar Change and the Effects on Earth That s not to say that links between solar activity and Earth s climate don t exist, however; they clearly do. There are just other factors that may be more influential. For example, the amount of power the sun produces, or solar irradiance, is reduced by only 0.1% during this time of less frequent sunspots. However, the amount of ultraviolet output over a solar cycle can deposit energy in our stratosphere that is a direct causation of colder winters in Europe at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recidivism increases more often with substance abuse and mirrors a deeper involvement in the juvenile justice system. The likelihood that a youthful offender will have extensive interaction with the system is in part due to drugs and alcohol use. Substance abuse has also produced rebellious behavior in juveniles. In the first paragraph we see a common theme or image found in the Latinx cannon: the image of motherhood and tradition. Palacios mother s retelling follows the traditional narrative of La Llorona Loca retelling in which a woman, traditionally a mother, drowns her children and then feels remorse. Although many authors would choose to further develop on this image, Palacios through her reflection on her up brining demonstrates opposing views to the dominant ideology, in the way in which she critiques these societal expectations of women. As the story continues, Palacios articulates a critique of gender roles and expectations demonstrated through the following lines of her mothers La Llorona retelling: The story also states that, as she wailed, she wore a long white gown. (49). The primary reason that this particular line is so important is that it is the first demonstration of a change of tone from our author. In the beginning lines, the author appears to be reflective, whereas in this line she demonstrates sarcasm. There is also particular imagery of the white dress, which has a lot of cultural/ideological symbolism. Hammonds claims that not only are people of color often excluded from spaces that discuss the politics of sexuality, but that when they are granted space to speak, a queer writer of color may find that defining himself gay is not of the utmost importance (129). Some people would say that Social Media helps catch and prosecute criminals, but the few times in which this does happen is heavily outweighed by the amount of privacy of which they lack, and the fact that they often expose users to government and corporate intrusions. A 2012 survey found that 13 million Facebook users said that they had not set or known about the site s privacy settings, and another 28% shared all, or nearly all, of their posts publicly. Facebook is infamous for its lack of security, how it forces users to stay on and use their site and secretly tracks them. They often make privacy settings hard to find. Since the deadly terror attacks of 9/11, intelligence gathering for homeland security has improved immensely. Fusion centers are state and major urban area focal points for the receipt, analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat related information between federal; state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT); and private sector partners (Department of Homeland Security, 2016). These fusion centers are owned and operated by state and local entities and are supported by federal partners in its many aspects which include personnel deployment, capacity building, and important and crucial connectivity to federal systems (Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), 2012, para. 3). For example, the DHS provides over 70 fusion centers access to the Homeland Secure Data Network or HSDN which allows these fusion centers to receive federally generated classified threat information. There is a subsequent amount of evidence to suggest the policy of appeasement was a failure due to events including the Abyssinian Crisis, the Reoccupation of the Rhineland, The Anglo German Naval Agreement, the Spanish Civil War and the Anschluss. Although it can also be argued that Britain had some success with preventing the fascist powers making appeasement successful. After the First World War, Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versaillesin 1919 outlining terms and conditions Germans had to accept and abide by. This angered many Germans as it was felt the terms were too harsh. In the 1930s, the British foreign policy of appeasement aimed to preserve the peace between nations and prevent war breaking out by negotiating with any issues that may arise. Britain also aimed to protect the empire as it was under threat as well as working with the League of Nations although it was weakened after The Great War. These specific aims were successful to an extent as there was no instant war however, war did break out in 1939 and it can be argued that appeasement only caused Hitler and Mussolini to gain confidence within their fascist ideas. It hides deep in the abyss of your mind, influencing your actions and thoughts. When a situation pops up, people deal with them according to their comfortability, but they usually fall under a category defense mechanisms . This can be seen very clearly in Neil Gaiman s The Ocean at the End of the Lane , as the conflicted characters are seen to have problems of their own, one of them being loneliness. Abstract Software Development has progressed far in recent years, with Agile software development methodologies contributing to the success of projects and customer satisfaction. This feasibility study will examine the potential implications involved with implementing the Integrated Management of Projects and Systems (IMPS) system using an Agile method. The system will assist Software Engineers in Communications, Requirements Gathering, Quality Control, and project management. The IMPS system aims to solve remote communications issues and technical complexity barriers faced by non technical stakeholders involved in software projects, resulting in decreased operating costs and increased productivity. The system will be introduced to the organization gradually as it is development, with a minimum of disruption. 2. Study introduction Information Technology (IT) has become a significant part of any work conducted in a technical capacity, whether this is via job assistance, or enablement. Communications, record keeping, and employee management all rely heavily upon IT systems to operate. Engineering jobs rely on IT systems to augment and assist to a greater degree than other areas due to the technical nature of the work. Nowhere is this more true than in Software Engineering, where technical details and their representation is key to the success of any project. It has been found that face to face meetings are still unmatched in effective communication. This feasibility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He puts so many conflicts in the story that all comes back to one huge problem. The theme of this story is to show the way men put their own pride before the law. The way Faulkner shows this theme is by using symbols, conflict, and motifs. This first example of Faulkner using symbolism is by him using the expensive rug he soils. Snopes soils the rug by stepping on it with manure on his shoes; this eventually leads to the destruction of the rug. Snopes intentionally messes up this rug that is very expensive, just to make a point. The rug is a symbol of everything Snopes had pride for and his occasional opportunities. • 37. Ancient Greece And Modern Medieval Europe Many historians and scientists regard Europe as completely devoid of interest in the history of science. Contemptuously, medieval Europe is most often referred to as the Dark Ages, the epithet clearly illustrating the struggles of the time period and disdain for this part of history. The modern perception of medieval society is overwhelmingly dominated by a skewed interpretation of a barbaric, war torn civilization barely surviving through suffrage of plague and poverty that stifled nearly every aspect of development. Spanning from 500 to 1400 AD medieval Europe stands as a pale, superstitious shadow of the Greek and Roman ages of reason and high philosophy. Undoubtedly, the golden era of prosperity that preceded this time is much of the reason why Europe struggled for many years after its collapse, and additionally, why many historians view it as such an unimpressive time period. Possibly one of the most popularly known time periods in all of history, the Roman Empire established itself with a long list of progressive accomplishments in just about every aspect of its society. A culmination of Ancient Greece and the Hellenistic period, the Roman Empire s innovatory nature fostered continuously advancing developments, especially in the sciences. Born in Paris, France, Charley was trained and eventually brought into Steinbeck s life. These companions later travel around America while trying to answer the question What are Americans like today? With only his necessities and Charley, Steinbeck began his long, overwhelming journey across America. In Travels with Charley, Steinbeck is greatly influenced by Charley and his actions. As Steinbeck traveled to Long Island, his relationship with Charley was slowly introduced as they headed for Niagara Falls. Charley caught it from me, but he is a gallant dog. He came into the bathroom and that old fool played with the plastic bath mat like a puppy. What strength of character, what a friend! (Steinbeck 47). From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character, as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better. (Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador, making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees America as a whole. • 43. Taking a Look at Francis AlГїs Francis AlГїs Francis AlГїs has startled and dumbfounded our contemporary art world time and again. As a Belgian architect turned artist, now residing in Mexico city, AlГїs is able to offer a multi cultural approach to the problems and fallacies of today. Although AlГїs is clearly interested in themes of informal manual labor and homelessness in Mexico, failed promises to assist in the modernizing of Latin America, and society constructed limits in immigration and movement, his work tends to lend itself more towards poetic attitudes and moods of ephemera, instead of adopting a loud and violent feel. His projects rotate around ideas of magical absurdity, which leaves them open to interpretation and moves political and economic crises into landscapes of lyric, where they can be re examined. The most significant question he poses is whether such poetic acts, while underlining the senselessness of particular real situations, can also create a space for new ways of thinking (1). The way that AlГїs works reflects the fluidity of his ideas, he begins with a concept. He has spoken about being influenced by everything from fairy tales and children s book to Belgian Surrealism and early Italian Renaissance painting, and AlГїs has even begun projects based entirely on an anecdote he has happened upon. Then come the projects themselves, which are mostly actions and events. Some of these actions require months of developing and financing, and others are modest and abrupt. Francis will ... • 46. The Origins and Development of Electronic Dance Music and... The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife Musical Culture The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST s). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The development of this new technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic Dance Music being one of these. The Moog Synthesizer was the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough. Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a bunch of other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40). It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized sound with sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the electronic music scene. One ... • 47. Determining Your Writing Style It may come as a surprise to many, but writing is no longer about the writer and is solely about the reader. When writing anything, whether it be a press release, a newspaper article, or even an informative essay, the only person that should be considered is the one that is going to read and draw conclusions from the writing. The ultimate point of one s writing is to benefit one s reader through understanding them, writing clearly and concisely, refusing to use methods that mislead them, and refusing to present information that has no basis of truth. There are many ways to strengthen one s writing. The best way for writers to optimize their writing is through understanding their audience. In the essay Determining Your Writing Style (n.d.),... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Methods of propaganda and doublespeak mislead the reader so they can no longer form educated opinions about the topic. Audiences are expected to be critical and to know how to challenge and to question, how to make distinctions between propaganda and reasonable argument (Cross, 1977, p. 150). This expectation is unreasonable because it is the writer s responsibility to not use misleading methods and to voice his or her opinion without using subtle techniques of persuasion. Writers should, therefore, avoid using any techniques of propaganda, such as name calling, glittering generalities, argumentum ad populum, transfer, card stacking, or any of the other numerous ways to persuade people without their consent. Doublespeak is another technique that should be avoided by all writers. Doublespeak, as defined in the essay The World of Doublespeak by William Lutz (1989), is language which pretends to communicate but doesn t, language which makes the unpleasant attractive, or at least tolerable , and through doing this, it conceals and prevents one s actual thoughts (p. 178). Doublespeak shrouds and averts thought and should be avoided by all writers. Not only is a writer who uses doublespeak concerned with distracting the reader for his or her personal gain, but it also does not consider ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
