Abraham Lincoln Research Paper Outline
Undoubtedly, Abraham Lincoln is among the most celebrated figures in American history. Lincoln
reshaped the United States for the lasting benefit of all Americans. Lincoln fought for and
defended the rights of the people as a lawyer, as a member of the Illinois and United States House
of Representatives, and as the President of the United Statesof America. I respect Abraham Lincoln,
the sixteenth President of the United States, for his dedication, courage, and leadership. Abraham
Lincoln s beginning was poor and hard. Lincoln was born in a small cabin in rural Kentucky. By
working on his father s farm, Lincoln learned determination and dedication. Although receiving a
minor education, Lincoln continued his studies beyond the classroom.

What Is Malcolm X s View Of Religion
The opinions that many people have about religion derive from their association with churches,
mosques, and other places of worship. However, Malcolm X defied the usual curve of religious
doctrine and embraced what he felt was right for him and those who shared his views. In his
autobiography, Malcolm X abandoned atheism to become a follower of the Nation of Islam(NOI)
and later, he ended up following Eastern Islam. In the Autobiography of Malcolm X, Malcolm s
views and his idealism is derived from his practice of Islam and his will to fight for the rights of
African Americans also come from the same base.
The theme of religion is introduced in the autobiography during Malcolm s time in the state
prison of Massachusetts. While in prison, he started to study books in a small library. Later in
1948, Malcolm was moved to Norfolk Prison. There was little violence in this prison and inmates
could debate and study freely. While in prison, Malcolm studied many books such as religion,
history, literature, linguistics, and biology. Malcolm first heard about the Nation of Islam from his
home when Reginald, his brother requested him to do so, and this became his first step into full
conversion to Islam. Reginald told him about a spiritual leader called Elijah Muhammad who
preached against the evils of white people and compared them as the devils. Consequently, he
recalled the way his family was split by social workers and a teacher who always watered down his

The SCERTS Model To Successful ASD Practices
programs borrow too many ASD approaches and strategies, resulting in practices that are
fragmented and unsuccessful.
First, some programs continue to adhere to only 1 or 2 approaches, with little integration of
practices from different perspectives. In contrast, other programs use a patchwork quilt strategy
borrowing from different practices along the continuum even when such practices are not easily
integrated, resulting in a fragmented approach to programming, (SCERTS, 2016, p. 3).
To build an effective educationprogram, including ASD practices and approaches most effective to
each individual, the SCERTS model utilizes information gathered from multiple sources. The
SCERTS model incorporates background information from parents, caregivers,

NATURAL LAKES IN TURKEY
Thesis Statement: Natural lakes can be classified into four types on the basis of their geographical
formation: tectonic, volcanic, landslide and alluvial lakes.
I. The first type of natural lakes are tectonic lakes which are formed from the movement of fault
lines between mountains. A. Formation of tectonic lakes 1. soil movements 2. water collection
in sunk land B. Effects of tectonic lakes water content a. freshwater b. mineralized II. Volcanic
lakes are the second type of natural lakes which are formed from volcanic activity.A. Formation of
volcanic lakes 1. water collection in a volcanic crater 2. natural dam formed by lava 3. explosion of
volcanic gas B. Effects of volcanic lakes increasingly mineralized III. Landslide lakes are the third
type of natural lakes which are formed from collapse of a valley on a river.

Volcanic lakes can be created in three ways. Water collection in a crater formed by vulcanism is
the first way. Nemrut crater is a good example for that kind of lakes. The lava can create a natural
dam which means its a good opportunity to collect water and form into a volcanic lake such as Lake
Van. The other way is the explosion of gas which creates a hole on the surface. And water filling
the hole helps becoming a lake. This kind of volcanic lakes are called maar such as Lake Abant.
Generally, volcanic lakes have not an outlet, and they are increasingly mineralized because the
mineralized water flows from mountains fills the hole and then it evaporates. (Yusuf T.

Advertising has become one of the most powerful and effective tools that business uses to launch

We know moms struggle to get their kids to eat well, and we believe our message provides a
reminder that the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch has the power to encourage kids to eat their
vegetables ( New Hidden Valley Ad ). A recent study at the University of California shows that
kids ate 23 percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing (
New Hidden Valley Ad ). This visual advertisement published in multiple target advertising
markets such as the June 2008 volume of Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents,
especially moms, who worry about their children s diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to
eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley uses a common photography strategy in
the advertisement known as encapsulation. Encapsulation is a classic technique used to hijack
your visitor s eyes and create a tunnel vision effect, preventing your eye from wondering
somewhere else in the photo (Gardner). Hidden Valley creates the picture in a way that makes you
look at the ranch being used on the broccoli, almost as if making your eyes focus in on that
particular spot. The ad uses association to connect the viewer to the message of the ad. When
advertisers use association, they attempt to associate their product with the people, values and
lifestyles depicted in the ads. Associations are positive and

The Social Sciences Essay
The Hawthorne Studies is one of the most well known series of experiments of the social sciences
in industrial history. The objective of the experiments were to establish how an individual is
influenced not only by their own abilities, but by their working environment and the people they
work with, both fellow workers and supervisors. To gain a better understanding of what the
Hawthorne studies were, why they were conducted, and how they have impacted management
practices, one must first understand the history behind the key contributors of this study and the
location where the studies took place, the Western Electric Company. However, the studies did
receive criticism, some of which was considered fairly harsh, such as from Alex Carey The
Hawthorne studies were conducted by Harvard s Business School Industrial Research Group,
George Elton Mayo, and Fritz J. Roethlisberger. These two men were major contributors to what we
know as the Hawthorne Effect, and their contributions to this experiment has set forth
unprecedented changes in the way organizations run.
Fritz Roethlisberger was born in NYC in 1898 and earned a BA in engineering from Columbia
University, BS in engineering administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a
MA in philosophy from Harvard University. Roethlisberger started work on his PhD in philosophy
at Harvard University but never finished. His studies were put on hold after meeting Harvard
professor George Elton Mayo. Roethlisberger

Physics Of A Non Linear Pdes
This work presents a system of a non linear PDEs, which governing the MHD flow of a Homann
nanofluid with heat and mass transfer through a porous medium. The problem is solved
numerically by making use of the finite difference method. The formulas of the velocity
components, temperature and concentration are obtained as functions of the problem physical
parameters. The effects of these parameters on the solutions are illustrated numerically and
graphically through a set of figures to reinforce the parametric study of the fluidflow.
Fig.(2) depicts the Variation of the velocity fields f(О·) f (О·) , the temperatureОё(О·) and the
nanoparticles concentration П•(О·) for different values of the suction parameter S. The velocities
f(О·) and f (О·) increase; while, the temperature Оё(О·) and the nanoparticles concentration
П•(О·) decrease as S increases. Moreover, increasing the Hartmann number Ha increases f(О·), f
(О·)), Оё(О·) and the ambient nanoparticles concentration far from the wall; otherwise, П•(О·)
decreases near the wall as Ha increases as illustrated in Fig.(3).
The results included in Fig.(4) clarify that increasing the permeability parameter ОІ has a marked
effect on decreasing the velocity fields and increasing the temperature values; as a consequence of
the increase in the resistive force on the velocity due to the porosity of the medium. Whereas, the
nanoparticles concentration near the wall decreases and the ambient nanoparticles concentration far

unfortunately the research that exists is inadequate. Very little data is available that shows the
impact of blogger s outreach in the fashion industry, but still there are successful fashion bloggers,
who have been successful in establishing effective relationships with fashion consumers. Consumer
motivations are of great importance to advertisers or marketers, they use different tools and tactics
in attaining these motivations among the consumers, one of those tools is blogging that is

Hadrian s Influence On The Roman Empire
When he was young, Hadrian was classically taught in his hometown of Italica Hispania (modern
day Seville, Spain) and went to Rome at around 14 years old. His first military service was as
Tribune under Emperor Nerva. When Nerva died, Trajan rose and took the throne. Emperor Trajan
was the first Roman emperor who was born in a province, not Romeit self. Later biographers would
attempt to place the birth of Trajanand Hadrian in the city of Rome but because both had Hispanic
ethnicity this has been assumed by some to be the reason that Trajan adopted Hadrian as his
successor (though scholars dispute this). Trajan died on campaign in Cilicia in 117 CE, while

His affection for Greece and Greek writing was to such an extent that he was known as

to Greece two times (most likely more) and took an interest in the Eleusinian Mysteries, of which

and the young fellow s demise so incredibly influenced Hadrian that he had him revered as a god. In
Egypt he established the city of Antinopolis in his memory. In Rome he revamped the Pantheon

Difference Between Contract And Contract
Contract and agreement are comparable, but there are some decision have to be a compromise

The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Youth Essay
Over the past 20 years, the entertainment industry has become one of the most successful
industries around the world and changed the way we entertain ourselves from different aspects
including watching TV and video gaming. However, the people who control the media have
started implementing materials that show violence into all sources of digital entertainment,
unaware of its serious psychological effects on youth. Youngsters are presently effortlessly
presented to violence as diversions and consequently now have weapons and explosives
comfortable fingertips, and this has prompted to some horrible results. It is likewise said that
youngsters who are presented to violent video games might be at more grave danger. Nowadays,
young teenagers spend more time playing video games and watching movies that show violence,
and research on exposure to this type of entertainment shows that it is linked to positive and
negative effects on psychological health. In despite of the high quality entertainment of violent
media, it has many negative consequences that oppose youth natural behavior from different
aspects. In other words, teenagers who see many violent acts are more likely to assume that it is
an acceptable behavior even though they come from different backgrounds. As Amialchuk says,

How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture
In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is
important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek
culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The
Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the
language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened
the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B.
The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared
most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery,
as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the
Minoans do not display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from
enemies. The weapons used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the
Mycenaeans, as well as the Minoans. The noted difference is the metal, the Minoans and the
Mycenaeans crafted their weapons with bronze the later Greeks used iron (Matthews et. al., 2014).

In the later Greek culture, following the Dark Ages, trade was again the main focus for the
prosperity of the civilization (Matthews et. al., 2014). In both cultures there is a religious belief
in gods and goddesses, moreover, both shared in the worship of Zeus. There are various statues
depicting the gods, goddesses, as well as the heroes of both the Minoans and the Mycenaeans. The
Minoan culture worshipped Zeus in the form of a child who died as an adult, conversely, the
Mycenaeans worship Zeus as an immortal god who created and ruled both mortals as well as

Counter fit ?
Cosmetics are seen everywhere in the market nowadays. Those who care a lot about how they
present themselves to other people would definitely buy them out of need. These products are often
sold at a high price and this is a problem to those who cannot afford them.
However, recently, products of the same name but different price have been popping up in the
market. Consumers all around the world would notice that these products are priced lower than the
usual. These cheaper products would most probably be counterfeited beauty products.
Counterfeited products are imitations of the real thing but usually sold in a reduced price. The
reason why people still buy counterfeited products is because who would want to resist a bargain?
Bargain prices are something good to us but considering what would happen if we buy and use
these counterfeits, it would not be worth it. Even though they look the same, these counterfeits are
far from the original. Therefore, it is only right that people should take proper measures to avoid
buying counterfeit make up and beauty products because they are harmful to our health, impacts the
economy negatively and are linked with other illegal
Activities.
Firstly, counterfeited beauty products should be avoided because they have been found to be
associated with bringing harm to the consumers well being. The reason for this is mainly because
these fake products do not go along with the

Examples Of Suspense In The Sniper
The story the sniper is a suspenseful short story written by Liam O Flaherty. The story is about a
republican sniper that has the face of a scholar that is involved in the Irish civil war. The story
the sniper uses suspenseful phrases such as hurriedly, immediately, suddenly, and slowly to
describe the pace of the story. The thesis of The Sniper is that the story uses timing to create
suspense. The story the sniper uses back to back action to create suspense. One example of this
in the story the sniper is when an armoured car appeared along with an informant, which the
sniper kills. Right after this the sniper gets shot by an enemy sniper across the road. This makes
the story suspenseful because the events are happening rapidly which shows how often danger
was evident. The sniper raised his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. The
woman darted toward the side street. The sniper fired again. The women whirled round and fell
with a shriek into the gutter ( Liam O Flaherty 1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is when the sniper kills his opponent, right after this event the story spends three
paragraphs talking about his remorse and his curiosity of who the enemy sniper was. This is
suspenseful because it stops the action of a long chain of events. Another example of the sniper
using slow pace for suspense is right after the sniper gets shot. This is suspenseful because the
story is running at a fast pace until he gets shot and hides behind the roof. This makes the story
suspenseful because it makes the reader wonder when the next event will

Hero In The Messenger
Task 1
Question 3: To what extent do you deem Ed to be a typical hero?
The Messenger by Markus Zusak is full of unconventional ideas and theories, one of which being a
challenge to the typical hero we see in most texts while still staying conventional. Zusak attempted
to differentiate from other novels through the main character, Ed Kennedy, using a slightly atypical
attitude and personality to the classic hero we are accustomed to without becoming overly
eccentric. There is a distinct similarity between Ed and the typical hero while still managing to
create a unique character. Some ideas and qualities that Ed has that adheres to the classic hero
stereo type is his perseverance, his quest, how he puts others before himself and his growth ... Show

Each task that Ed is to complete is there to assist another person in one way or another. Each time
he does this he risks something of his and, even though he is aware of this, he continues to do
so. This is a customary trait of the stereotypical hero to put another before one s self and this is
exactly what Ed does, be it a complete stranger or one of his closest friends. He puts his life on
the line, gives up his money, time and attention all for the sake of others. He isn t required to do
this, he chooses to he thinks of others wellbeing s before his own. For example, on the
assignment with Milla he gives his time to be with her and comfort her, with the Tatupu family
and Father O Reilly he spends his own money to give them something to make them joyous and
with the Rose boys and the man on Edgar Street he risks his life in order to help people he s never

Teachers Options Essay
Teachers Options
There are many options open to teachers of deaf children in a variety of situations. In teaching
deaf and hard of hearing children there is such a wide range of children, each with their own
abilities. Each child also has a different family situation to take into account. Some children come
from deaf families, some they are the only deaf family member, and some have no support from
their families because they are deaf. There are also students that have family members that make an
effort to learn how to best communicate with them, while some do only what they must to
communicate the needed information. Along with this is the severity of each child s hearing loss.
Some suffer from only slight amount of hearing loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teaching with Sign Language
The most common educational teaching method for the deaf is to use a combination of both
American Sign Language (ASL) and English in the classroom. The signing of the English
language is called Pidgen Sign Language (PSL) or Signed Exact English (SEE). ASL is the
accepted language of the deaf in America and the preferred method of communication for the
majority of the deaf culture. It is a language of concepts instead of actual forming of sentences
and has no relation to English. ASL has a topic comment syntax, while English uses subject
object verb (Nakamura, 2002). In this format, they are able to understand each other best, but
this can also cause problems for education. The downside to ASL is that there is no use of
sentence structure, so this is where a combination of ASL with English comes in the education
picture. This system of bilingual teaching (Mason, 1995) with ASL and SEE teaches the children
English, the language of the United States, but by using many of the signs of ASL. The students
are taught with the signs and concepts of ASL but in areas like reading and writing, SEE and the
grammar rules of English are learned and applied. Some teachers, when in a classroom like this,
also use some aspect of voice along with ASL and SEE because many students have hearing aids or
cochlear implants, surgically implanted forms of hearing assistance, and teachings of

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Persecution Quotes
The Boy in The Striped Pajamas Essay In the novel The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas by John
Boyne, there are a lot of consequences for persecution. Such as, persecution tears families apart
and breaks down healthy marriages, it ends up with people getting tortured and murdered while
leaving many mental tolls, and citizens will fear persecution. When society persecutes certain
people it risks tearing apart families by killing off key members and dividing their views.
Families lose members and end up grief stricken, with Shmuel s family as a perfect example. He
loses his Grandfather and Father as well as having his Mother taken away, this leaves Shmuel
without anyone to guide him or protect him evidently leading to leading to his cruel demise.
Also, it divides views and breaks apart healthy relationships. This comes in the fact that Mother
starts to resent Father and his views, even going as far as to have an implied affair, evidently
playing a part in Kotler s transfer as implied when Bruno says, his departure had come about very
suddenly and there had been a lot of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Goals And Dedication Of Dedication
When people hear dedication, they may think about relationships or a job. Dedication means
something different to all of us. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal
relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in
me when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major
achievement. Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized
it was shaping my life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state
wrestling, both in February of 2016. I looked back to all the times where dedication is all that
kept me on the track of achieving my goals and where dedication paid off. I didn t choose to
value dedication; external factors grew it up inside of me. Every youth soccer league practice
and game, every wrestling practice and tournament, and every class I had were factors in the
development of dedication. It s clear what made me become so dedicated. The question to ask
myself is why these experiences instilled dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It s
a sport that can build or destroy character. Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or
shrink depending on the outcome of competition. Some people become overconfident and others
settle into the perfect amount of confidence. I believe I fall into the latter group. Practice can grow
humility and dedication by fighting through

Control In A Midsummer s Night Dream
During the late 15th century by William Shakespeare, or more commonly known as
Shakespeare wrote the play A Midsummer s Night Dream. Shakespeare was both a playwright
and a poet, producing many famous pieces such as Hamlet, Julius Caesar, and the infamous
Romeo and Juliet, along with over a hundred sonnets to name a few. In the play A Midsummer s
Night Dream, he writes of four young lovers who wander into the woods, and the trials they
endure along the way. Within this story, Shakespeare also shows that it is not possible to control
another person s actions because the two characters keep trying and failing to do so. By using
Egeus, Shakespeare shows that it is insoluble to control others. In act 1 scene 2 lines 41 44 it says

The most hardest one to work on has to be peer resistance skills. I usually sometimes give up
very easily, for example when I can t get a problem right and I keep trying, I would give up and
guess. I have been working on it about a couple weeks, and it had improved by doing problems
until I know it is right.. I still believe peer resistance skills is my weakness since I usually keep
going back in forth about giving up and not giving up over simple things. Usually when
something very upsetting comes up, I usually get upset a long period of time. Coping skills is
difficult to deal with too but easy to make a solution for. For example, you can knit, read, listen
to music, talk to friends, and etc. These skills are really hard to handle but I think I could make
them into my strengths if I work hard and believe in myself. Strengths and weaknesses can be a
struggle at a period of time. If you only focus on one point of a subject, you might not realize
your other subjects will be weak. Weaknesses can be easily handle but people don t know how to
react. This is where the term, goals can solve for both strengths and weaknesses. For an example,
you could set a goal to work on your communication skills by talking to your classmates or close
friends. It doesn t matter if it s a long term goal or a short term since, you would work hard for one

Fenella Character Analysis
Efie and Colina are half sisters. The girls were born to Fenella, a strikingly beautiful woman.
Fenella was married to Wallace, Laird of Inverness and the father of Efie. He fell ill one day and
withered in a week due to a mysterious disease. The Lair was soon succeeded by Derek, Wallace
s younger brother. Love blossomed between Fenella and Derek, something which did not come as
a surprise to the members of the clan. Soon their union bore Fenella another daughter whom she
named Colina. But 3 years after Colina s birth, Derek was plagued with the same illness Wallace
suffered from and passed away.
Efie and Colina could pass up for twins although some differences are quite apparent. Efie was
vibrant and cheerful. Her hair flows down to her shoulders and shimmers like gold under the sun.
Her brown eyes speak of the naughty secrets she keeps but would not think twice about divulging
them to anyone who cares enough to know. Colina, on the other hand, was always quiet, unsure
and shy. But what she lacks for in self expression is more than made up for by her astounding
beauty. Colina s hair was dark red, almost mahogany and her eyes were gentle green. She was
younger than Efie by 5 years, and as it is with younger sisters, Colina tries extra hard to emulate
Efie.
The sibling rivalry which now exists between the sisters was mainly due to how Fenella has
treated them. Anyone could see how Fenella favors Efie over Colina. Fenella feels that Efie has

Pros And Cons Of Imunizing Children
Immunizing Children One of the most controversial choices today is the choice to choose
whether or not to immunize children. Things to take into consideration when making this
decision are the risks involved in not immunizing children and some of the reasons against
immunizing. The risks involved in not immunizing children is that the child will not be
protected against serious illnesses and diseases. One of the reasons people choose not to
immunize is that they are afraid it will traumatize or hurt their child, but it s one or two injection
pricks, opposed to a life time of multiple blood draws and lumbar punctures (spinal taps) every
time their child gets a rash or fever. If a child is not immunized they would need to be tested
every time for the diseases every time they got sick. Another reason people choose against
immunizations is a lack of health care. Though this is not so much choosing against the
immunizations, it is more they do not have the resources to choose immunizations. But here in
the United States children especially do not go without at least the basic health care. The United
States is behind many countries on health care but we are also not a third world country. We do
have access to great health care and we make it available to those in need. We have Medicaid,
WIC (Womens, Infants, Childrens), we have free clinics and many more resources to make sure
children are protected. The most common reason right now for people to choose

My Learner s Academic Development On Their Past Work And...
I am basing my descriptions of my Average Learner s academic development on their past work
and observations. They can read and understand simple texts. In fact, the history textbook for
this class is within their reading level and so they can read and understood information therein.
In addition, they can listen and follow verbal instructions. For them, I do not have to repeat nor
display my instruction on the whiteboard nor through PowerPoint slides, but I do sometimes
have to speak slower to assure they can hear what I say. They can write simple and complex
sentences, with a high degree of clarity. (I will provide further information about this when I
describe their language development later in this paper). Collectively, they can collaborate in
groups, preferably of no more than three students in a group, because anything more is not

being in the same classes last year and the on the same sport team this class has many baseball
players. Insofar, this has proven to be advantageous, by having them in groups, and I could not be

them is, comprehending primary sources. They are still learning to comprehend primary document

Briefly outline the features of big science . What is the...
This essay will explore the varied criteria attached to the definition of Big Science. With such a
vast array of opinions on the subject, an attempt will be made to simplify and rationalise a specific
definition. Examples of The Manhattan Project and the research conducted at CERN will be
investigated to this end, and the former will be examined for its perceived effect on Big Science.
It will be argued that Big Science is simply the industrialisation of Little Science, and that the
differences between the two are a matter of scale and resources rather than a complete change of
paradigm.

Others have argued that the scale of science has been growing steadily for centuries, and that it
is impossible to pinpoint a definite start for Big Science. Derek J. de Solla Price explained that
the scale of science had been increasing over the 300 years up to the start of the Second World
War, and suggested that Big Science signified the near end of this scientific era. (Capshew Rader,
1992, p. 7) He also postulated that an entirely different style of conducting science would soon
emerge.
Some think that Big Science is the culmination of the industrialisation and commercialisation of
scientific processes and knowledge. (Capshew Rader, 1992, p. 9) This would imply that Big
Science must have an end in a technological application for use by the investor.
It could also be argued that Big Science is simply the proliferation of new methods of working to
the discipline, as found in large corporations at the time. Hughes points out the car manufacturer
Ford and the technology company General Electric as examples of innovative production
companies which required new ways of working due to their expanding workforces. (T. P. Hughes,
2004, p. 383)
Another important argument is that it is not only the centralisation of research facilities that
denotes Big Science, but also the centralisation of decisions. This practice came about as a result of
larger workforces that

Hawthorne Essay
Nathaniel Hawthorne is considered to be one of the most substantial writers of his time. His most
famous novel, The Scarlet Letter truly originated Hawthorn amp;#8217;s version of romantic
writing. It was this novel that also originated Hawthorne amp;#8217;s fame. Most of his works
deal with or have some relation to Puritan times. The reason for the familiarity in his works is due
to the fact that it seems to be influenced by his own Puritan ancestry. It was not until late in
Hawthorne amp;#8217;s life that he received recognition. To do this Hawthorne had to change his
name and found his own stlye of writing that pertained to his life experiances. His romantic style
might have been too modern for the times, but eventually he was... Show more content on

In these stories, the character goes through a series of psychological issues dealing with his
infatuation. An example of the psychological issues pertaining to infatuation is portrayed in
Rappaccini amp;#8217;s Daughter. This work deals with a young man named Giovanni who is so
blind by love that he becomes susceptible to deception. He is instantly mystified and enchanted
by the beauty of Beatrice. She was a girl from the Italian village called Padua. Her father had
once been a professor at the University of Padua, where Giovanni attended. Giovanni meets a
professor named Baglioni who is very jealous of Rappaccini. Giovanni is so love stricken that he
is tricked by Baglioni and, poisons his love Beatrice. It is this style of writing that makes the stories
seem romantic. The intensely, moral and psychological issues are the ingredients in a recipe that
culminates romantic work.
In another work by Hawthorne called, The Birthmark Aylmers devotion to science and his love
for perfection, is a result of his downfall. His wife Georgiana was born with a large birthmark on
her face. This birthmark seemed to be her only flaw but it was enough to drive Aylmer insane.
Aylmer is so in love with the idea of perfection that he winds up killing his wife. He kills her by
trying to move her imperfection (the birthmark) from her face. The reason for her death is
explained in a critical way. This birthmark was

Persephone Hades Research Paper
Persephone Demeter Hades
Hades, Persephone, and Demeter are all mythological characters referenced for evil, the beauty of
the earth, and fruitfulness of our planet. Hades strong lust for Persephone drove him to capture her,
while Demeter, her mother, sought to protect her. Considering what they symbolise, people today
continue to reference their story because of its strong relation to our society and ever changing
nature.
According to the Greek mythology Hades, the unseen Greek god of the underworld, intrigued by
the beautiful daughter of Demeter and Zeus, Persephone, created a dilemma (Cotterell 49). Struck
by her beauty, Hades pulled Persephone into the underworld forcefully.

Homer s The Odyssey, Plato s Meno, Algernon Charles Swinburne s The Garden of Proserpine,
and Ovid s Fasti were one of the many literatures that explained the idea of Persephone, Hades, and
Demeter. The quote by Plato in Meno that says
They say that the soul of man is immortal, and at one time comes to an end, which is called dying,
and at another is born again, but never perishes. Consequently one ought to live all one s life in the
utmost holiness. For from whomsoever Persephone shall accept requital for ancient wrong, the
souls of these she restores in the ninth year to the upper sun again. focuses on the idea of
Persephone being stolen and how it causes the change in human nature. Not only does it represent
cycles created in the nature and season, but in the human lifespan as well.
In the following text we see this symbolism of circles in Milton s Paradise Lost, when he talks

Physical punishment was very common. In the past corporal punishment was by not only applied to
children. It was used on adults as well. In England from the Middle Ages whipping was a common

in the British army and navy. This type of punishment was abolished in England in 1881. (Lambert

(Section 43 46 Modern History Soucebook) Locke believed in maintaining a firm control of the
child. He was not an advocate for overly admonishing or beating a child. Locke believed that
corporal punishment and negative punishments would hinder a child s capacity to learn and be
educated. He also believed that children s educational material should directly relate to their
station in life. In other word s full education spectrum would be reserved for the higher class of
gentlemen where as the poor would be served in learning a trade.

Growing Up In The Catholic Church
Growing up in San Francisco, religion wasn t a part of my life, or majority of people s lives.
Only one of my friends grew up religious and even then it never defined her. Moving across the
country and into a southern college town, I ve discovered what it really means to be religious and
how devoted people are to their beliefs. I ve always been interested in religions that seem foreign
to me like Buddhism or Hinduism. However, I decided to devote my time in learning about
Catholicism. Catholicism began when Jesus lived, died, and resurrected. The Catholic Churchwas
established and built by the twelve apostles. In the first three hundred years of Christianity,
Christians were extremely persecuted in the Roman Empire. They were one of the... Show more

Thomas More. It was a very peaceful morning and the church had a very stress free environment.
The priest spoke with a very soothing and calm voice. In Christians in the American Empire,
Vincent D. Rougeau stated that Catholicism sees the human person as formed in the image and
likeness of God the imago Dei and at the same time views the person as inherently social, create
to live in community with others, and flourishing only in that context . One of the most important
ideals of the Catholic Church is social teaching. Their goal is to create a more just and holy
society even among modern issues. Something that really fascinated me was the way the priest
was able to relate social problems of modern world to the readings from the Old and New
Testaments. The Church proclaimed, Any kind of social or cultural discrimination in basic personal
rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and
eradicated as incompatible with God s design . Just from going to one Catholic service my
preconceived mindset of Catholics and their beliefs was changed. Being able to pray for everyone

Once again from the daily telegraph, a hero is not always someone who is wearing a cape,
nevertheless someone who makes a difference in somebody s lives. Above all heroes are not
people who expect reward for actions and become a hero by chance, but determination to help
others.
All around the world there are heroes, everywhere you see there is someone who has helped
someone in need and has done the right thing. According to Art Green s post in November,
specifically one important hero is Master Sergeant Roy P. Benavidez. He did something very
extraordinary. He went on a very dangerous rescue mission to save his military buddies; he was
the only one to go. Additionally went off with just a knife and a medic bag, he had to many with
gunshot wounds all around. He waited for a chopper, when it arrived the pilot got shot. He
actually had too fight off the Vietnamese army for six hours with the help of the army until the
other chopper arrived. When he got on the plane he collapsed, they all thought he was dead until
the doctor said he was still barely alive. In addition, he was went through surgery and received

Corrupt Politics, President s Escape And More For New...
Corrupt politics, president s escape and more to New Ukraine.
Introduction
Ukraine made the news a lot in the past year, but for anything Ukraine discovered or made. In the
past year the country has been in crisis due to the events that started off as a riot for Ukraine
becoming a part of EU and leading to annexation of Crimea and war in east part of the country.
Ukraine has been ruled by corrupt politicians and oligarchs and has been strongly influenced by
Russia. These two countries always had close ties, because of their past as Soviets countries, they
share a common language and are currently in pre war status right now (McMahon, 2014). This
past year has been rough with crisis and has affected areas like: social, cultural and economic.
Ukrainian government has failed its purpose to protect and make improvements in the best interest
of the country, and now thousands of people lost their homes and thousands have died, with
hundreds being killed directly at the request of former President Victor Yanukovych, who now has
escaped and currently staying in Russia with a political support from their side (Babich, 2014). The
question now is; with everything that s happening inside the country, should Russia be allowed to
invade and destroy cities and squares, while the peace agreement and sanctions are attempting to
stop this chaos? No, but the aid from countries like Germany and United States of America is not
significant and influential enough to stop Russia from military

from last season.
It was so different from training. At training the basketball games that we played weren t this hard

I had never been good at playing in front of people since I had started playing which was four years

I had seen the basket ball games on T.V and some of my friends played. After a month of begging

Henry Fleming The Youth Quotes
Henry Fleming, also known as The Youth in the book, was a young soldier heading out for war
with excitement and pride. Little does Henry know what awaits him in a war in which brothers
fought against brothers and fathers against their sons. How the cruelty of war may take his
innocent mind and transform it into something gruesome and horrid in which he may have never
expected, yet mold him into a man who can say that he s seen it all. In the first page, the author
reflects on the setting which is in a valley near a river and how the Yankees can see the Reds
army camping across the plain. The tall soldier comes into play by telling his regiment that he
heard rumors from a good friend that their regiment will be hitting the reds on their flanks.... Show

It was a good fight, wasn t it? Yes, said the youth shortly. (Crane, 1957, p.30). In this quote, it
shows Henry sarcasm towards that question since he escaped and didn t see the outcome of the
battle. Where were you hit? repeated the tattered man. Oh, began the youth, I I that is oh
(Crane, 1957, p.31). Bumping into the wounded made Henry s conscious worse since he left the
battle in vain and he doesn t have a scar from the battle showing his cowardice and his
shamefulness for fleeing. Likely, the soldier is generalizing because he is hurt.) Embarrassed,
Fleming does not answer, leaves, and longs for an injury, a red badge of courage (Mayer, 2009).
The Youth bumps into the tall soldier, who was in his regiment, who was wounded during the
battle. The tall soldier keeps talking about his fear of being left on the road to be driven over by
carts and soldiers. He asks Henry to pull his body out of the road but the tall soldier ends up
running to a clear plain and dies there. This must be a dire situation that takes a toll unto Henry,
watching a fellow comrade who he had been with since enlisting die before his mere eyes. Just to
pull me out of the road? I d do it for you, wouldn t I, Henry? (Crane, 1957,

Essay On The Battle Of Midway
1943: The Battle of Midway [1987]
1943: The Battle of Midway is a shoot em up arcade game, or more accurately a vertical scrolling
shooter game, designed and developed by Capcom and published in 1987. The game was the sequel
to Capcom s 1984 game, 1942 which was the first in the 19XX series. In this game analysis of
1943: The Battle of Midway, also referred to as 1943, will be analysed subjectively under the
following headings: story, technology, aesthetics, and mechanics.
Story
We have the ability to project ourselves into just about anything we control. [J.Schell, 2008]
Anyone who grew up in the arcades is very much familiar with 1943: The Battle of Midway. The
game is set in the Pacific theater of World War II, off the coast of the Midway Atoll. In terms of
story, what separates the 1942 from the 1943 is that the latter sets specifically on aerial combat
around Midway.
We filter reality through our sense, and through our minds, and the consciousness we actually
experience is a kind of illusion not really reality at all. [J.Schell, 2008]
As this game is somewhat fictional in its nature, Schell states a very relevant point about reality and
this illusion games create for us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 4. What Is Malcolm X s View Of Religion The opinions that many people have about religion derive from their association with churches, mosques, and other places of worship. However, Malcolm X defied the usual curve of religious doctrine and embraced what he felt was right for him and those who shared his views. In his autobiography, Malcolm X abandoned atheism to become a follower of the Nation of Islam(NOI) and later, he ended up following Eastern Islam. In the Autobiography of Malcolm X, Malcolm s views and his idealism is derived from his practice of Islam and his will to fight for the rights of African Americans also come from the same base. The theme of religion is introduced in the autobiography during Malcolm s time in the state prison of Massachusetts. While in prison, he started to study books in a small library. Later in 1948, Malcolm was moved to Norfolk Prison. There was little violence in this prison and inmates could debate and study freely. While in prison, Malcolm studied many books such as religion, history, literature, linguistics, and biology. Malcolm first heard about the Nation of Islam from his home when Reginald, his brother requested him to do so, and this became his first step into full conversion to Islam. Reginald told him about a spiritual leader called Elijah Muhammad who preached against the evils of white people and compared them as the devils. Consequently, he recalled the way his family was split by social workers and a teacher who always watered down his dream of becoming a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Water collection in a crater formed by vulcanism is the first way. Nemrut crater is a good example for that kind of lakes. The lava can create a natural dam which means its a good opportunity to collect water and form into a volcanic lake such as Lake Van. The other way is the explosion of gas which creates a hole on the surface. And water filling the hole helps becoming a lake. This kind of volcanic lakes are called maar such as Lake Abant. A recent study at the University of California shows that kids ate 23 percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing ( New Hidden Valley Ad ). This visual advertisement published in multiple target advertising markets such as the June 2008 volume of Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents, especially moms, who worry about their children s diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley uses a common photography strategy in the advertisement known as encapsulation. Encapsulation is a classic technique used to hijack your visitor s eyes and create a tunnel vision effect, preventing your eye from wondering somewhere else in the photo (Gardner). The problem is solved numerically by making use of the finite difference method. The formulas of the velocity components, temperature and concentration are obtained as functions of the problem physical parameters. The effects of these parameters on the solutions are illustrated numerically and graphically through a set of figures to reinforce the parametric study of the fluidflow. Fig.(2) depicts the Variation of the velocity fields f(О·) f (О·) , the temperatureОё(О·) and the nanoparticles concentration П•(О·) for different values of the suction parameter S. The velocities f(О·) and f (О·) increase; while, the temperature Оё(О·) and the nanoparticles concentration П•(О·) decrease as S increases. Moreover, increasing the Hartmann number Ha increases f(О·), f (О·)), Оё(О·) and the ambient nanoparticles concentration far from the wall; otherwise, П•(О·) decreases near the wall as Ha increases as illustrated in Fig.(3). The results included in Fig.(4) clarify that increasing the permeability parameter ОІ has a marked effect on decreasing the velocity fields and increasing the temperature values; as a consequence of the increase in the resistive force on the velocity due to the porosity of the medium. Teaching with Sign Language The most common educational teaching method for the deaf is to use a combination of both American Sign Language (ASL) and English in the classroom. The signing of the English language is called Pidgen Sign Language (PSL) or Signed Exact English (SEE). ASL is the accepted language of the deaf in America and the preferred method of communication for the majority of the deaf culture. It is a language of concepts instead of actual forming of sentences and has no relation to English. ASL has a topic comment syntax, while English uses subject object verb (Nakamura, 2002). In this format, they are able to understand each other best, but this can also cause problems for education. The downside to ASL is that there is no use of sentence structure, so this is where a combination of ASL with English comes in the education picture. This system of bilingual teaching (Mason, 1995) with ASL and SEE teaches the children English, the language of the United States, but by using many of the signs of ASL. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in me when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major achievement. Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized it was shaping my life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state wrestling, both in February of 2016. I looked back to all the times where dedication is all that kept me on the track of achieving my goals and where dedication paid off. I didn t choose to value dedication; external factors grew it up inside of me. Every youth soccer league practice and game, every wrestling practice and tournament, and every class I had were factors in the development of dedication. It s clear what made me become so dedicated. The question to ask myself is why these experiences instilled dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It s a sport that can build or destroy character. Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or shrink depending on the outcome of competition. Some people become overconfident and others settle into the perfect amount of confidence. • 38. Pros And Cons Of Imunizing Children Immunizing Children One of the most controversial choices today is the choice to choose whether or not to immunize children. Things to take into consideration when making this decision are the risks involved in not immunizing children and some of the reasons against immunizing. The risks involved in not immunizing children is that the child will not be protected against serious illnesses and diseases. One of the reasons people choose not to immunize is that they are afraid it will traumatize or hurt their child, but it s one or two injection pricks, opposed to a life time of multiple blood draws and lumbar punctures (spinal taps) every time their child gets a rash or fever. If a child is not immunized they would need to be tested every time for the diseases every time they got sick. Another reason people choose against immunizations is a lack of health care. Though this is not so much choosing against the immunizations, it is more they do not have the resources to choose immunizations. But here in the United States children especially do not go without at least the basic health care. The United States is behind many countries on health care but we are also not a third world country. We do have access to great health care and we make it available to those in need. We have Medicaid, WIC (Womens, Infants, Childrens), we have free clinics and many more resources to make sure children are protected. The most common reason right now for people to choose ... They can read and understand simple texts. In fact, the history textbook for this class is within their reading level and so they can read and understood information therein. In addition, they can listen and follow verbal instructions. For them, I do not have to repeat nor display my instruction on the whiteboard nor through PowerPoint slides, but I do sometimes have to speak slower to assure they can hear what I say. They can write simple and complex sentences, with a high degree of clarity. (I will provide further information about this when I describe their language development later in this paper). Collectively, they can collaborate in groups, preferably of no more than three students in a group, because anything more is not conducive to learning. The reason they work well together because most know each other from being in the same classes last year and the on the same sport team this class has many baseball players. Insofar, this has proven to be advantageous, by having them in groups, and I could not be more satisfied with the results. However, they are not perfect students. They have gaps in their speculative developments. One of them is, comprehending primary sources. They are still learning to comprehend primary document texts. With such a vast array of opinions on the subject, an attempt will be made to simplify and rationalise a specific definition. Examples of The Manhattan Project and the research conducted at CERN will be investigated to this end, and the former will be examined for its perceived effect on Big Science. It will be argued that Big Science is simply the industrialisation of Little Science, and that the differences between the two are a matter of scale and resources rather than a complete change of paradigm. Others have argued that the scale of science has been growing steadily for centuries, and that it is impossible to pinpoint a definite start for Big Science. Derek J. de Solla Price explained that the scale of science had been increasing over the 300 years up to the start of the Second World War, and suggested that Big Science signified the near end of this scientific era. (Capshew Rader, 1992, p. 7) He also postulated that an entirely different style of conducting science would soon emerge. Some think that Big Science is the culmination of the industrialisation and commercialisation of scientific processes and knowledge. (Capshew Rader, 1992, p. 9) This would imply that Big Science must have an end in a technological application for use by the investor. It could also be argued that Big Science is simply the proliferation of new methods of working to the discipline, as found in large corporations at the time. Hughes points out the car manufacturer Ford and the technology company General Electric as examples of innovative production companies which required new ways of working due to their expanding workforces. (T. P. Hughes, 2004, p. 383) Another important argument is that it is not only the centralisation of research facilities that denotes Big Science, but also the centralisation of decisions. How the cruelty of war may take his innocent mind and transform it into something gruesome and horrid in which he may have never expected, yet mold him into a man who can say that he s seen it all. In the first page, the author reflects on the setting which is in a valley near a river and how the Yankees can see the Reds army camping across the plain. Essay On The Battle Of Midway 1943: The Battle of Midway [1987] 1943: The Battle of Midway is a shoot em up arcade game, or more accurately a vertical scrolling shooter game, designed and developed by Capcom and published in 1987. The game was the sequel to Capcom s 1984 game, 1942 which was the first in the 19XX series. In this game analysis of 1943: The Battle of Midway, also referred to as 1943, will be analysed subjectively under the following headings: story, technology, aesthetics, and mechanics. Story We have the ability to project ourselves into just about anything we control. [J.Schell, 2008] Anyone who grew up in the arcades is very much familiar with 1943: The Battle of Midway. The game is set in the Pacific theater of World War II, off the coast of the Midway Atoll. In terms of story, what separates the 1942 from the 1943 is that the latter sets specifically on aerial combat around Midway. We filter reality through our sense, and through our minds, and the consciousness we actually experience is a kind of illusion not really reality at all.
