Analysis Of Exelon ( Rivastigmine Tartrate )
Exelon (Rivastigmine Tartrate) is a hydrogen tartrate salt of Rivastigmine that acts as a reversible
cholinesterase inhibitor. As a cholinesterase, it is administered in an increasing amount over a set
period of time. Through the inactivation of butyrlcholinesterase and acetylcholinesterase, Exelon
prevents the breakdown of the chemical acetylcholine which is thought to be important in
memory, thinking, and reasoning. Due to these capabilities, it is frequently employed to combat
the effects of dementia due to Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases where patients tend to have a
lower concentration of acetylcholine. Rivastigmine is also under evaluation in clinical trials as a
treatment for cocaine dependence. It can be employed both orally and as a transdermal patch. The
patch is more popular due to fewer side effects. In addition, Exelon has a size of about 250Da per
moleculeНѕ this is small relative to the benchmark of 500Da for transdermal transfer. Its small
size combined with its lipophillic and hydrophilic nature makes it ideal for topical administration.
Rivastigmine has a halflife of about 1.5 hours and when taken in a transdermal patch, it has a lag
phase of between 0.5 and 1 hour. When taken orally, it has a bioavailability that is linear until
about 3mg at 40%. It then follows a nonlinear pharmacokinetic model, as its bioavailability will
increase with an increase in dosageНѕ when administered via transdermal patch, approximately
50% of the active ingredient is

Dualism In Val Plumwood s Paths Beyond Human-Centeredness
Val Plumwood in her essay Paths Beyond Human Centeredness, illustrates the impact that humans
have on nature and non animals when it comes to preserving environments. Understanding that
nature has it s living properties that let it thrive among its resources allows for people to grasp the
complexities that come about when construction companies destroy the environment in which they
work. Plumwood uses the term dualism to refer to the sharp distinction between two classes of
individuals. There is the high class, which is considered as the One. In contrast, the other side of the
division consists of individuals that are classified as lower and are subordinates to the One as
Others. This account on dualism allows the reader to understand how humans can significantly alter
the environment because of the way they perceive its resources and inhabitants. Plumwood defines
five characteristics that illustrate the oppressive actions that change the connection between human
relations and the relationship between humans and nature. In any case, individuals within society
become oppressed as higher ranked groups control their lower class counterparts. The five
characteristics that pertain to human oppression become defined in Plumwood s essay as: radical
exclusion, homogenization, denial, incorporation, and instrumentalism. Radical exclusion refers to
the separating of men as the One and women as the Other. Furthermore, this term means that the
qualities of women become

The Glenarm Company Case Report
The Glenarm Company Case Report Executive Summary The Glenarm Company case study is
based on Peter Sherman, CFA holder, and the ethical implications involved with his move from
Pearl Investment Management to the Glenarm Company for a new position. This is Sherman s
last week working at Pearl for 5 years as a junior research analyst before he moves to his new
employer Glenarm as a portfolio manager. The past history of the Glenarm Company regarding
ethical problems has set the circumstances (which can be viewed as ethically dubious) to allow the
opportunity for Sherman to switch firms. This switch has then also given Sherman the opportunity

As a result he has also violated Standard VI Conflict of Interest (A): Disclosure of Conflicts,
which states Sherman should have provided full disclosure on these matters that have created a
conflict of interest. Sherman s objectivity was compromised which resulted in him taking
unethical actions and violating Standard IV Duties to Employers (B) and most importantly
Standard I Professionalism (B): Independence and Objectivity. Clients are not the only thing
Sherman is wrongfully taking from Pearl. Research on companies, marketing presentations,
financial models and similar work he has worked on at Pearl is being taken to be used at
Glenarm. Research and models developed while employed by a firm are the property of the firm.

Correction and Prevention Not all unethical actions committed in this situation can be corrected, but
policies could have been implemented by the firms to prevent them from happening. As a CFA
holder, Sherman should have not solicited Pearl s clients while he was employed at the firm. To
correct this, he should first state the nature of the situation without bias to himself or either firm. He

Silk Road Ethnography
The media s skewed outlook and reports on the deep web has affected the way the majority of
people view this resource that is inherently not a bad tool. The media also misrepresents the deep
web by confusing it with the darknet and giving false information about the two. It is easy to get
caught in the wave of horror stories that appear in magazines and online content about the deep web
and the darknet, but more often than not the deep web is doing more good than is portrayed by the
media. The advances in cryptography that is being used within the deep web and the darknet are
creating a safer environment for reporters and political activists; even the simple internet user needs

The Silk Road was one of the most popular darknet sites that dealt mostly with drugs. In an
interview with Alex Winter, the director of Deep Web a documentary about the deep web and
the Silk Road. he said that the community needed a substance to draw people in, but they seemed
to stick around for the ideals the website set up (4). During the documentary there was an
interview with Dread Pirate Roberts, the supposed leader of Silk Road, where he explained,
What we re doing isn t about scoring drugs or sticking it to the man, it s about standing up for
our right as human beings and refusing to submit when we ve done no wrong. Silk Road is a
vehicle for that message. All else is secondary, (5). In the same documentary many anonymous
interviews were done with people associated with Silk Road. One interviewee states that the site
had threads with, great political and philosophical discussions, (5). He also points out that
although illegal things were happening, the site itself was a community for like minded people to
come and discuss things that maybe they would not be allowed to, or they would not want to, if
others knew their true identity. The Dread Pirate Roberts wrote on one of the posts, Silk Road was
founded on libertarian principles. This user even created a book club where they would have in

dedicates his whole time and effort into his favorite sport which is boxing. Boxing to rocky was
wasn t only fun loving sport to him it was also hard working and risks. After all his matches he
was fully prepared for his all time big match in his hometown in Philadelphia against the world wide

During the year of 1776 there was a man named Rocky Balboa who lived in Philadelphia in a tough
neighborhood. While boxing to make a living he didn t make enough, so he became a hustler for a

big of anger on how Micky changed with this news but I was also happy.
The message of this film was to show the audience not to give up during tough times in life and to

Impact of Mental Health Literacy on HelpSeeking Intentions: Results of a Pilot Study with First
Year Psychology Students Key words: mental health literacy; help seeking; young adults
Introduction The mental health of young adults is an area of public health concern. It is important
for those with mental health issues to receive the appropriate support and treatment, and their own
help seeking behaviours are central to this outcome (Rickwood etal, 2005). However, help seeking
rates amongst young adults are less than optimal (Biddle etal, 2007). A factor that may facilitate
help seeking and that has been discussed in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While suggesting a link between knowledge about mental illness symptoms and awareness of
appropriate help sources, it does not provide information about the young person s own help
seeking intentions should they develop a similar problem. Studies investigating barriers to help
seeking can provide this information, with many identified barriers reflecting deficits in mental
health literacy. A barrier to help seeking identified by several studies was the belief that
psychological problems will improve by themselves and/or can be selfmanaged (Cigularov etal,
2008; Eisenberg etal, 2007; Vanheusden etal, 2008). A related barrier identified by Eisenberg etal
(2007) is normalising the problem. These barriers suggest a lack of knowledge about the
importance of help seeking for symptoms of mental illness, and may also indicate negative beliefs
about mental illness. A further barrier related to such negative beliefs is the view that requiring
help is a sign of mental weakness (Vanheusden etal, 2008). The belief that treatment might make
things worse or that treatment would not help (Vanheusden etal, 2008) may indicate lack of
knowledge about the helpfulness of interventions that are available for many mental illnesses.
Knowledge deficits in a range of practical areas have also been identified as barriers

The Contributions Of The Han And Roman Attitudes Towards...

Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Technology
During the Han and Roman civilizations many new developments of useful technology took place,
at the hands of thousands of people. The Romans built brilliant new technologies such as their
aqueducts and the creation of concrete which helped build better, stronger structures. The Han also
had technologies they developed to help their society, such as their agricultural advancements with
farming tools and the using the ox. Attitudes towards the technology at the time for each
civilization caused pride and encompassed order to accumulate success, but the Han viewed
workers more equally than the Romans did in the making of these magnificent advances.
Both the Han and Roman empires exhibited the need for control and order in the development of
new technologies. They strived for their new creations to be the best, and aimed for perfection. In
the creation of Roman aqueduct, there was an extremely structured pattern to follow in building
the structures. The elevations reached a specific height, the volume was measured on scales, and
they made sure water lead to many different areas (Doc 8). Another example of the Romans
attempts to strive for perfection is present in the building of the roads. They had to be precise and
straight for travel, equal and parallel in their measurements, and even had road markers (Doc 6).
They also had to packed one with numerous layers of sand and

Use of Language and Imagery in act One Scene Two of...
Use of Language and Imagery in act One Scene Two of Shakespeare s Henry V The French
ambassadors are shown into Henry s court. They were sent from the Dauphin, son of the French
King. The Dauphin s message is an insulting rejection of Henry s claim to the French dukedoms
and refers to his reputation as a trivial pleasure seeker. The message is accompanied by a
mocking gift of tennis balls, suggesting that he should go and play games. Dramatically this is a
tense moment. The Dauphin has under estimated Henry. The childhood imagery of Henry has
departed and now arose a new King. Henry is a reformed character. He admits that he did not value

King Henry then comes back to the theme of the tennis in his reply to the Dauphin and warns
that a more deadly game will follow. There is much confident in Henry s speech. He is
contrasting the image of the tennis game to the game of war as he says we will in France, by
God s Grace, play a set. There is a tone change, when he states God, but there is also reference to
Henry s religious side. God permits Henry s anger. When Henry says play a set , he declares that
they will play a game of war. There is a pun when Henry says courts. That all the courts of France
will be disturbed. The word court is used in two different terms in Henry s speech. Firstly the
term court could mean tennis courts and secondly it could mean the courts of France, where the
battle will commence. Henry replies to the Dauphin that the tennis balls will be turned into gun
stones, Hath turned his balls to gun stones, at the battle and this is an extended metaphor. Henry
again refers to God, his soul. God is mentioned a few times by Henry and this establishes an
image that God is on Henry s side. The word mock is used four times in Henry s lecture meaning
he shows anger at the Dauphin s mockery of the tennis balls. Just as tennis is a mock game and the
game they are going to play in France will make mockery of Dauphin judgement and the

The Essex Fire And Rescue
By breaking down the quadrants it gives a clear vision on how and why the approaches are needed
in correspondence to the different situations. Quadrant One is associated with the situations in
relation to the cultural environment surrounding the organisation in which may not be appropriate
any longer. For changelike this, it needs to be made on a wide scale, either for the complete
organisation, or the majority of it, the Emergent approach; such as (Kanter Et Al s 1992 Long
March) which focuses on both the collaborative and political ideas of change that are more
appropriate then current states. The Essex Fire And Rescue Review (2015) support the idea of
change in culturethat may not be appropriate any longer in that environment. An independent
review of claims of intimidation at a fire service has found evidence of dangerous and pervasive
bullying . The cultural review was commissioned by Essex Fire Authority last year after bullying
was reported and two serving fire fighters took their own lives (Guardian 2015). This idea is
supported by the (Independent Cultural Review Of County Essex Fire and Rescue Service 2015)
who claim If culture is to change then senior leadership is absolutely critical, in terms of both
modelling behaviour and giving permissions to subordinate staff to innovate and appropriately
challenge poor performance including that of management. Taking an emergent approach to change
management really highlights the ways in which nature is

Age Related Dysphonia Case Study
The aging process impacts the vocal mechanism as it does any other system of the body. In one
of the few studies that reviewed vocal disorders in the geriatric population, the incidence of
vocal disorders in people 65 years or older was between 12% and 35%. (Davids, Klein, Johns,
2012). Of that population, 25% had vocal fold atrophy as the cause of their disorder. (Davids, et

that the impact of this disorder had a percieved negative impact on quality of life in 13% of the test

The Issue Of Affirmative Action Essay
Martin Luther King, in his I Have a Dream Speech, states I look to a day when people will not be
judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character for this reason affirmative
action in higher education admission should be altered for it creates a perpetually racial preference
in admission.
Affirmative action is controversial due it s issue of whether the generation of today should pay for
the past injustices done to certain ethnicities. It questions the constitutionality of its existence and
whether it perpetuates racial discrimination. Although affirmative action is a great start in
promoting diversity and exposing diverse perspectives in an educational field, it s time to realize
its modern predicaments and visualize how to better progress in terms of admission for the future
of the diversified generations of America. Thus it is vital to address reasons why it should not be
prolonged in order to create better opportunities to those who are at a disadvantaged.
The dilemma of affirmative action is defining equal opportunities especially to those ethnicity who
were historically wronged. The famous U.S landmark case Regents of the University of California
v. Bakke (1978), in which Allan Bakke, a white man, was twice rejected to University of California
Medical School at Davis, ruled that racial quotas violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th

The Differences Between The And Of The Christian Realist...
The different Christian views struggle with the brokenness of human nature. The difference in
views lies in how this brokenness is interpreted. How does one balance the human being who is
born in the image and likeness of God, yet, has fallen from grace? The two distinct views will
revolve around seeking answers to this question, and what is the best way to act on these answers in
dealing with the broken human. It becomes a question of mercy and grace in this world versus a
constant searching by the human, which only ends in the presence of God. The latter reflects the
view of the Christian Realist.
The philosopher and father of the Christian Realist position, Reinhold Niebuhr, argues that
Augustine s City of God lays the foundation for the Christian realist thought. It is in this work that
Augustine presents a realistic view of humankind that was in contrast with the classical view of the
human being. The latter s view idealized human s unlimited potential because of their ability to
reason. Niebuhr argues that this difference in the viewpoints of Augustine and the classical
philosophers lies in Augustine s biblical, rather than rationalistic, conception of human selfhood
with the ancillary conception of the seat of evil being in the self (Niebuhr, Christian Realism and
Political Problems 123 124). It is from this concept that Niebuhr argues that human nature is evil as
a result of sin. This sinful nature of the human has forever shaped his movements. It drives his

Southcentral Alaska is a diverse land of moderate rainfall and pleasant climate. The long days of
summer make the Matanuska Valley the breadbasket of Alaska, and oversized fruits and
vegetables are routinely produced there. Intermittent rain squalls are the rule along the coast,
while the broad valleys farther inland typically enjoy sunnier weather. Craggy ranges line the
valleys, with peaks that rise well above the timberline. Dense brush is prevalent at lower
elevations, and a limited system of trails provides the best option for accessing the high country.
Deep winter snows provide the moisture needed to maintain the region s lush vegetation.
Because of its inland location, Missouri frequently experiences changes in temperature. Winters
are cold and summers are hot, prolonged periods of very cold or very hot weather are unusual.
Occasional periods of mild, above freezing temperatures are noted almost every winter.
Conversely, during the peak of the summer season, occasional periods of dry cool weather break
up stretches of hot, humid weather. Temperatures below zero are infrequent, but have occurred in

Invisible Workers In The Simpsons
America has had large expanses in technology: from the invention of the iPhone, which
revolutionized how the cell phone was viewed and used, to websites like eBay and Amazon that
are able to give quick easy access to whatever item that person so desires on that given day. But
when an individual is purchasing an iPhone5 or using one of these shopping websites, they rarely
think about the person who work to build those iPhones or ship out those items. These Invisible
Workers , those who work behind the scenes, rarely get the credit or the respect they deserve and
are often mistreated and abused because of it. Because of society s natural desire to consume,
businesses have the ability to treat any of their workers unfairly and allows for the... Show more

Because of the fear to unionize or the fear of fighting back at all, the continued cycle of abuse
does tend to continue due to inaction. But does this solely lie on the backs of the workers? In
the case of overseas workers, they work hours on end in horrid conditions, their children
sometimes working alongside them in order to even come close to making ends meet and it
comes short even then. Anything they do can risk their job and any tiny mistake ruining the rest of
their lives in this oppressed environment. So yes, out of fear workers do not tend to fight back but
this out of necessity to protect their families from losing what in most cases is their only source of
income. In the case of American society, the workers are hidden behind technologywhere
consumers automatically assume everything is done by computers . Though American workers
are treated better, they still have to contend with being replaced by machines and worry about
companies taking their jobs away. While it can be said that this is due to the advancement of
technology, there is no compensation whatsoever for the worker when he or she is inevitably
replaced. They are forced out, without any regard for their families or their

Essay On Women In The Great Gatsby
Throughout literature women are often displayed as idealized characters. Women in the eyes of
society are plagued with the stereotype of being kind, nurturing, and tender individuals while men
are established as ambitious, assertive, and tough. However, when the time comes for women to
possess the qualities of men and men of women, a turnaround of events can occur. Women were the
individuals that then shape the males into their ending personna. Shakespeare s Macbeth, George
Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four, and F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby demonstrated the
reversal of gender roles through portraying women as the instigator of the male character s ultimate
demise. In particular, Macbeth s women are some of the most famous females... Show more content

Throughout the novel, the reader is constantly wondering who exactly Gatsby is and the
mystery as to how he made his riches. It is later learned that he gained his money dishonestly.
Gatsby did this with the purpose of gaining the woman he loved since she wanted to live a
wealthy life. Daisy s greed drove Gatsby into having the ambition of becoming rich. Daisy had
even chosen Tom Buchanan to marry to live a wealthy life regardless of how poorly treated she
was by him. She picked him over Gatsby since Gatsby was not rich at the time they met. She
even exaggerates her greed by killing Myrtle and uses Tom to blame Gatsby to keep her life of
wealth. Nick says They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and
creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was
that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made, (Fitzgerald 136

My Favorite Point Ms. Mcintosh
My favorite point Ms. McIntosh makes is I can choose blemish cover or bandages in flesh color
and have them more or less match my skin. Holy cow, this is so incredibly true, and I never
realized it until I read this article. Most drugstores don t carry make up dark enough for African
Americans. I have seen white women use, powder foundation made for black women to
highlight their face to make it look tan. It is so ignorant by the make up companies, to not cater
to women of all shades. You can walk down the make up aisle and find ten different shades for
white women and two maybe three dark ones. Black skin comes in just as many tints as white skin
does. Same with bandages, black peopleget scrapes and cuts too, why don t you make a skin
colored bandage for them? For crying out loud, we make neon pink, orange, green, and purple
but we cant have a brown color? Most grown adults don t want to wear neon or character
bandages, but putting an ivory Band Aid on their finger looks quite peculiar. Isn t the purpose of a
Band Aid to make the skin look normal to divert attention from the wound? I never realized it but
when I babysat for my cousins, the mother and son were African American, the daughter was
biracial, and my cousin was white. They always had character Band Aids, I never thought twice
about it because their kids were young, however it makes complete sense to me. They don t have

Relationship Between Tom And Summer
The film (500) Days of Summer is a story about the relationship between Tom Hansen and Summer
Finn. Tom and Summer met each other when they were both working at a greeting card company
and their relationship began and ended within two years. Tom is best considered to be a hopeless
romantic, whereas Summer does not believe in the fantasy of love. Summer s aversion to love
stems from her parent s divorce, but it is the opposite for Tom even though his parents were
divorced also. With Tom and Summer being two polar opposites from each other, it is easy to
see how their relationship will already have conflict embedded within it. Although their story is
not a conventional love story, Tom and Summer s relationship that they never put a label on can
be applied to various concepts of male/female communication. Tom and Summer s relationship
can be best analyzed by using John Lee s types of love, with a focus on eros, ludus, and mania;
and their relationship can also be analyzed by using dependence power theory. Tom s primary
love type is best described as eros. Eros love, according to John Lee, is the type of love that
correlates with the notion love at first sight . Eros love is intense with a strong attraction from the
very start. When Tom first sees Summer when she begins working as the new assistant, he
immediately stops to stare at her and in his mind he thinks that from the moment he saw Summer,
he knew she was the girl for him. As a hopeless romantic and eros

Where Would We Be Without Technology Essay
Where would we be without technology? Technology is one of the most important tools that drives
society. Technology is defined as a tool, discovery or invention that makes day to day tasks easier.
An example of this is one of humanity s first and instrumental discoveries: the discovery of fire.
Equally important is the invention of farming. Yet perhaps the most important invention of all is
the invention of steam power. Each of these inventions or discoveries impacted society in a positive
and important way. These three innovations throughout humanhistory are prime examples of how
the evolution of technology can benefit society in many ways.
The discovery of fire had a colossal effect on society in the stone ages and throughout all of human
history, including modern day. The discovery of fire, through random chance or by possibly
knowing the potential benefits that fire provided, was the starting point which helped humans
evolve alongside this new technology. The technological advantages that fire provided was an
invaluable aid to human lives. It helped man stay warm, keep away dangerous animals, and most
importantly cook food.
The ability to stay warm in harsh environments provided a clear advantage for the human race that
it never would have had without the discovery of how to make fire. Staying warm helped to
detour colds, viruses and other cold related illnesses, including what is now known as snow
blindness and frost bite. Fire provided humans with one of the

Essay on Star of the Sea, what kind of man is Lord Kingscourt
Assignment 1
Star of the Sea by Joseph o Connor is a text set during the Irish Potato Famine, in 1847. The Irish
Potato famine of the 1840s was the greatest social catastrophe of 19th century Europe, yet
inspired surprisingly little imaginative writing. (Eagleton, 2002) However this book has been
described by the Sunday Times as having compelling characters and a dizzying narrative
(Heaney, 2007) This compelling story is set around a wealthy, turned bankrupt, land owner and
his family who flee to America, the promised land, in search of a new life. They are joined on
this journey by a range of other passengers whose previous lives are in entwined together in a past

7) He is a kind, considerate man who does not have normal upper class tendnacies towards other
people. Lord Kingscourt finds the behaviour of the irish upper class hard to stomach (Ibid, Page
8), he doesn t like the way the prosperous Irish were never done lampooning their rural
countrymen (Ibid, Page 8). The upper class usually find it acceptable to make fun of the lower
classes, it is a form of humour to them. However Lord Kingscourt does not hold this view, he
cares about the people around him, regardless of where they have came from or how much
money they have. Lord Kingscourt has in fact often envied them, (Ibid, Page 10). The previous
night Lord Kingscourt had observed a member of steerage, either drunk or half mad in chains. The

Defining Psychological Disorders
Defining psychological disorders. Psychological disorders are behavior patterns that lead to
inability to function properly in life. There are quite a number of mental disorders but I will only
focus on attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder because it is the most studied mental disorder
and the most frequently diagnosed disorder especially in children. This disorder causes inability
to pay attention, difficulty in controlling one s behaviors or causes one to be excessively active.
A lot of misleading information about this disorder is everywhere in the communities and even
the society. Some do not even believe it is real and therefore it is important to understand what
this disorder is. Patients with these disorders will mostly act without thinking and therefore
impacting on their families and loved ones. The actual cause of attention deficit/hyperactivity
disorders is not known but other factors may be a trigger. These factors may include genetics, the
society and the environment (Joel 2006). Some medical conditions and previous brain infections
or cases of trauma. It normally runs in families, with factors such as exposure to alcohol, toxic
chemicals or at times premature birth may lead to the disorder. Diagnosis is done by a set of
criteria but begins by assessing the behaviors of a person in childhood, and their mental
development.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They are free to exploit you, to lie to you, to cheat you and to take away from you what is
rightfully yours your health, a decent wage, a fit place to work (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). In the
movie Norma Rae, union organizer Reuben Warshovsky, delivered this powerful speech to
workers at the O.P. Henley textile mill. He warned them that without union representation they
would continue to be taken advantage of by management. The movie, set in 1978, showed textile
workers in a small, southern town who were forced to work long hours for a measly wage in
deplorable and unsafe conditions. These workers were characteristically poorly educated and
largely unskilled (Leiter, 1986, p. 951). The management was neglectful of and apathetic to... Show

The on site mill doctor insensitively diagnosed the mother s problem as an expected side effect
of working at the mill. To this Norma Rae angrily declared to her mother, They don t care
anything about you (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). Furthermore, Norma Rae s overworked father,
who was paid only $1.33 per hour, keeled over and died after being denied a break by his
supervisor when he was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack. Textile workers were oppressed
and dissatisfied, but had no voice in the mill. When workers become increasingly dissatisfied with
their present employment, they may seek to improve their workplace by forming a union instead of
leaving the position (Fossum, 2012, p. 7). Fossum (2012) suggests that dissatisfaction alone does
not mean that unionization will occur. Employees must also feel that they are unable to influence
change on their own and believe that collective bargaining would enhance workplace conditions
(Fossum, 2012). In the textile workers case, the mill was their livelihood. Unionization would be
their only chance to improve their quality of life. By gaining union representation, workers hope to
present a unified voice to management to negotiate acceptable workplace provisions. Unions give
workers a voice in decisions that affect them (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2007, p. 467). In

transit systems in college and universities (TRB, 2008). The most of the survey respondents were
from four year universities. All of the universities indicated that they have either self operated
transit system or a public transportation office operated transit system to serve the campus
communities. The most of the respondents agreed that the headway was less than 10 minutes for
these transit stations in the college. The report showed that 29 transit systems charged no busfare for
students and 26 transit systems charged $1.00 to $1.50 per local bus ride. However, majority of
shuttle services for on campus circulation were offered free to ride. Another interesting fact
mentioned in the report was that around 60% of the universities utilized remote park and ride
services. The report revealed the fact that many institutions were found to be charging low parking
prices to their staffs and faculties. Nine institutions reported to have annual parking fee less than
$100. The report also mentioned that this reduced parking price was not supporting the concept of
reducing the number of single occupant vehicle (SOV). The report recommended for conducting
more research on the safety system, including late night safety and emergencies regarding the

Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music
Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society
celebrates classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling
Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their
music and image they projected because some members of society feared they were too
suggestive, or just completely inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music
being censored in the best ways for their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of
the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that
some could consider it indecent (Rutledge Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by
many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark controversy, especially during live performances.
Producers and planners of live performances were more conservative and cautious of keeping
television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to great lengths to make sure that all was
kept modest. That is exactly what happened on The Ed Sullivan Showon September 11, 1967. The
Rolling Stones were allowed to perform on the show as long as they agreed that they would
change the let s spend the night together lyrics to a more appropriate let s spend some time together

Endocrine Disruptors Essay
Endocrine Disruptors
During recent years, numerous newspaper and magazine articles have suggested that humans may
be at risk because small amounts of well known environmental contaminants, such as dioxin, PCBs
and DDT, can affect hormone levels. Hormones are produced by the endocrine system as regulators
of biological function in target organs. Because hormones play a critical role in early development,
toxicological effects on the endocrine system often have an impact on the reproductive system. The
term endocrine disruptor is used to describe chemicals that can mimic hormones and may either
enhance or counteract their effects. It has been suggested that these hormone changes can, in turn,
lead to a variety of health problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Males exposed as embryos to estrogenic pesticides showed decreased to no sexual behaviour. (Fry

vestigial penis, follicle like testis and elevated estrogens/testosterone ratios and the female hatching

colleagues did a similar injection study with DDT and DDE, they produced results similar to those
found in the field. The reduction in penis length and the abnormal gonads made the hatchlings
reproductively incapable. Both the bird and alligator studies were prompted by the contamination
of large water bodies by organochlorins and the low breeding success of the animals living and
feeding in these areas.
Of particular interest are those chemicals, which mimic the female hormone of estrogen, which is

Under this Act, states are awarded for increasing the number of children below 200 percent of
poverty who reside in married couple families (Nathan Gais, 1999). This measure is based on the
theory that children in single parent homes are at greater risk than those in two parent families and
the best solution is marriage. In short, the federal government is rewarding states for encouraging
marriage, a very personal decision. How do states measure the results of having more couples
getting married?
Over the past five years, the federal government has also found it difficult to measure improvement
in states. Currently, success is based in terms of job entry rate or increases over time in job entry
rate, retention rate, and earnings gain. States may use quarterly unemployment insurance wage
records, surveys, administrative records, or a combination of those data sources. States are given
wide latitude in the sources of information they report. Also, to further distort the findings, there is
no baseline data with which to make comparisons (Danziger, 2000).
Whose interests are best served by the current welfare requirements? TANF encourages states to
provide assistance to those welfare recipients who are most likely to succeed at employment,
ignoring individuals who are harder to place. In order to show increases in employment and wage
rates, the most attention is

The Difference Between Egenarianism And Egalitarianism
Due to this topic s controversy in the evangelical church, I am very grateful to learn about these two
different views. The variation of the views even within the egalitarian and complementarian
perspectives was interesting. It reminded me that in ourselves alone unity cannot be found. Only in
Christ can we obtain unity displaying a countercultural attribute that reflects His light and hope for
this world. I am praying for our Great God s faithful help in this.
Egalitarian Perspective In learning about the egalitarian perspective from Linda L. Belleville and
Craig S. Keener, the bottom line difference between egalitarians and complementarians seems to be
the extent of which women can lead men. The egalitarian believes scripture supports mutual
ministry opportunity for both genders. Belleville states Egalitarian is to believe in the mutual
gifting of women and men . (35) Keener s four options of viewing women in ministry is also very
helpful. The fourth option is The Bible permits women s ministry under normal circumstances but
prohibits it in exceptional cases, in which case we should allow it under most circumstances today
(Gundry, Beck 206). The egalitarian view is not about who has authority over a congregation, but
by grace is given to believers through Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit, empowerment is given
both genders to minister to the congregation and equip the saints for ministry. Authority is given to
Jesus Christ. The command scripture gives to

PROBLEM STATEMENT
The problem is that XYZ hospital has identified the need for telemedicine and electronic health
record management capabilities but hasn t been able to convey the costs and risks associated with
implementing an information system and network infrastructure upgrade. This is a problem
because the current and projected budget will possibly limit funding for equipment and

PURPOSE STATEMENT
The purpose of this feasibility study was to examine the risks associated with the network and
information system and compared it to upgrading the current infrastructure. The information
produced from this research helped XYZ hospital convey the strengths, weaknesses, and impacts on
choosing a new networking and information system infrastructure. This is important because it will

Oedipus the ideal Tragic Hero

Abstract
In the play Oedipus Rex, Sophocles portrays Oedipus who is also the main character, as a good
natured, beautiful, noble yet narcissistic person who has a lapse of judgment and fall from power.
Throughout the play Oedipus makes a few profound decisions for which he is condemned to
plentiful suffering; thus making Oedipus fit the mold of a tragic hero if we agree with Aristotle
that Oedipus misfortune happens strictly because of his tragic flaw. Oedipus judgment alongside

Aristotle, Using Oedipus as an ideal model, says that a tragic hero must be an important or
influential man who has a lapse in judgment. Who then must suffer the consequences of his actions.
The audience must learn a lesson from the tragic hero; a lesson of what happens when great men
fall from their social or political positions. The tragic hero needs his errors in judgment for a
phenomenal effect of audience realization to occur.
Oedipus tries to prevent his terrible fate from occurring after it is prophesized to Laius, his
father, early on; he leaves the city of his foster parents as a preventative measure. Oedipus is
being punished for his parents actions. His birth parents once set out to seek the advice of the
Delphi Oracle but the advice was gloom. They were told never to have children, but in spite of the
warning Oedipus was born. Therefore from the beginning Oedipus is a tragic hero, his birth
presents his destiny to result in tragedy. As with most tragedies Oedipus birth was noble which
made his fall more intriguing to the audience. What use are my eyes to me, who could never See
anything pleasant again? (Sophocles 1293) This statement is the realization of wrongdoing; it is not
until now that Oedipus sees his own actions as wrong.
There is a significant point of the play where the Herdsman tells Oedipus who his mother is and
Oedipus replies Oh, oh, then everything has come out true. Light, I shall not look on

freedom (although, it is not absolutely possible) of the ants, the colony made a wake up call that
their forces combined can abolish the slavery system posed by the grasshoppers. In addition, these

that is all. There is only one reason people argue that gaming cannot be a sport. But there may be a
way to change that. When you think of a sport, what do you think? Just take basketball, for
example. Does it not take skill and practice? Well, video games you need those skills as well.

Recruiting and Retaining Qualified Personnel Essay
Recruiting and Retaining Qualified Personnel
INTRODUCTION
One of the most critical challenges facing public administration is the recruitment and retention of
qualified personnel. While the problem of attracting talent into public service is not new, the
introduction and rapid expansion of the high technology and Internet industry, the problem has
reached crisis proportions. Both the public and private sector have embraced the Information Age
with increasing dependence on a skilled and versatile workforce. Private industry responded by
developing greater versatility in expanding and contracting their workforce to compliment the
strategic requirements and goals of the organization. Public administration did not adequately ...

The need to incorporate similar flexibility in public administration has been recognized and
addressed by congressional committees, public agencies, human resources professionals, and public
administration academicians. This research paper focuses on the issues, recommendations and
recent initiatives to address competitive recruitment and retention in contemporary public
administration.
Understanding the Shortfalls
The crisis in recruiting and retaining talented personnel has multiple fronts. Public service has
become increasingly less attractive to college graduates, more and more long term employees are
seeking early retirement, and retaining mid level employees from enticing positions in the private
sector are major reasons the government has severe shortages in qualified and talented
management. In his testimony before the House Committee on Government Reform, Steven
Kellman, a professor of Public Management at Harvard University s Kennedy School of
Government, points out disturbing trends in the hiring rate of college graduates from institutions
specializing in public management and administration. Twenty years ago, about three quarters of
the graduates from our two year master s program took their first job with government. Now that
figure is down to about one third. These figures are similar to those of other major graduate
programs in public policy around the

The Omo Site Of Ethiopia, Africa
In this research paper we will be discussing the Omo site in Ethiopia, Africa. Some key points
that will be discussed will be its original discovery in 1967, it s addition research that was
completed in 2005, Omo I and II s updated age (McDougall et al., 2005), and the scientific
importance of the discoveries from this site and what it means for idea of the first appearance of the
modern human(Fleagle et al., 2008).
In 1967 in the Lower Omo Valley near Kibish, Ethiopia along the Omo river, a team from the
Kenya National Museums, led by Richard Leakey an anthropologist and conservationist, did an
initial exploration which led to the discovery of several stone tools, hominin fossils, and various
other skull fossils of mammals. In this expedition the team found parts of what would be known
as Omo I and Omo II. The finds for Omo I comprised of the mandible, dentition, several parts of
the cranium, and a considerable portion of the post cranial skeleton. Omo I s finds has been
described as being a modern skeleton of Homo sapiens. Omo II comprised of an almost intact
neurocranium, which has been described as primitive remains most closely resembling Homo
erectus (Fleagle et al. 2008). At that time in 1967, researches faced a difficult time establishing an
accurate age of these remains due in part to the confines of technology. The team at this time
decided to use a rather controversial method that looked at radiometric dates on shells from a Nile
oyster (Etheria elliptica) bank

How Did Mother Teresa Influence The Missionaries Of Charity
When I think of great people who have helped others worldwide, many people come into my
thoughts. However, one person stands out from the rest for me: Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was
a very influential person who went above her call of duty by helping people and forming the
Missionaries of Charity.
The Catholic Church has helped many people who are in need that would have died if they did
not help. In general, millions of Christians and Catholics all around the world help many people
who need help in many things. Catholic communities worldwide help people almost everywhere,
making the Catholic Church s influence in people s lives very large. The Catholic Church, in
general, will always go outside the normal boundaries to help those in need. Catholic saints, such as
St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent de Paul, and most recently, St. Mother Teresaof Calcutta, are great
examples of this. Mother Teresa s love for the poor and those in need makes her one of the best...

On September 10, 1946, Mother Teresa received what she termed the call within a call . It said to
start the Missionaries of Charity. The Missionaries of Charity was founded on October 7, 1950. It
was a new congregation that she founded and that started in India but eventually spread across the
globe, mostly in Europe and Africa. People everywhere sent donations to the Missionaries of
Charity, therefore allowing them to expand and most importantly, build schools, homes, charity
centers, and clinics. Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity are also a proud defender of
unborn children s rights. She worked to stop abortion by sending a clear message that abortion is
an evil act and should be condemned in multiple ways. She died on September 5, 1997, in Calcutta,
due to her poor state of health. The Missionaries of Charity eventually became an international
organization and still continues to spread hope today, even after Mother Teresa s

Stereotypical Fairytale And Relative Peace
When a child does something wrong, an older, wiser adult is always there to scold them for the
wrongdoing. Inevitably, they are then forced to accept the punishment and guilt that it bears.
However, when they transform into an adult, they are the old, wise adult, and no one is there to
scold them. It must be found within themselves to discern the sin committed and hold the guilt
within their own hearts, but then also forgive themselves for it, of which it is much easier to do as
a child. If unforgiven, the guilt manifests itself within their being, slowly monopolizing on their
lives until they become a mere shell of their prior beings, scarcely able to survive daily life with
the blanket of guilt weighing down so heavily upon them. In... Show more content on

Barely under this facade of composure and innocence, unbeknownst to him, was his rapidly
expanding feeling of dishonor. Not only had he committed an act so unspeakable for the time,
but he had also failed to admit this fault to those who held his holiness above all else. In this way,
he felt he had betrayed the townspeople, of whom he knew their countless sins, and the only
person who could ever truly forgive him: God. As a result of these unforgivable crimes,
Dimmesdale subjected himself to a torture brought about by his own inability to forgive himself
for the crimes committed. Only a short while into his self flagellation, the decaying of his
physical well being became apparent to any and all onlookers, as the text states, he was often
observed, on any slight alarm or other sudden accident, to put his hand over his heart, with first a
flush and then a paleness, indicative of pain, (Hawthorne 108). This quotation exemplifies the
obvious change in Dimmesdale s demeanor, while also creating a connection between mind and
body. With such a guilt fueling his need to gain redemption, he turned to pain as a way to relieve
the unshakeable ailment he invariably felt. However, this did not achieve anything as his mental
state further deteriorated and his physical conditions followed suit, to the point that he was scarcely

Economic Inequality Within The Global Economy
Economic inequality can be defined by the unequal access to economic resources, in the form of
opportunities, wealth, capital, land, etc., which determine the individual s or the group s level of
power. Generally speaking, individuals and groups with high access to resources have high levels of
vertical and horizontal power, which in it turn generate more access to resources and power. The
unequal access to economic resources is institutionalized within a society. Thus, economic
inequality has far reaching effects and manifestations in other social and political institutions. In
addition, with increasing role of global economyon national economies, and the increasing
inequality in the global market, which is reflecting on increasing inequality in it turn increases
inequality within nations. Thus, the interest among political economists has increased in an effort
to understand stratification and to create policies which aim to elevate economic inequality
globally and nationally.
I will argue that the capitalist economic system is inherently unequal. Farther more, it thrives on
creating highly level of economic inequality, where resources and capital is concentrated in the
hands of the economic elite, while the rest of the population service to provide cheap labor
(specialized on non specialized) which increase economic, social, and political inequality in a
society. For that reason, I don t believe that economic policies can end inequality globally or

Analysis Of The Book The Hobbit
The Hobbit, a novel by J.R.R Tolkien, was a prequel to The Lord of the Rings series. The Hobbit
is also an adventure story that follows the classic, hero s journey. The protagonist of the novel,
Bilbo, is much like the European explorers in the Age of Exploration during the 15th Century.
For example, Christopher Columbus was widely regarded as a hero during his time. Columbus
was a Spanish explorer that is known for discovering the Americas. In 1492, Columbus set sail
west in hopes of discovering a new route to the Indies, instead he found America. Like Bilbo,
Columbus was an ordinary person who went on an adventure, faced challenges, and in the end,
became a hero. Previously, a hero s journey was mentioned. The pattern that heroes go through in
their journey was discovered by writer Joseph Campbell. Campbell studied many adventure stories
and noticed a pattern that all of the heroes went through. He said that the journey they take
happens in seven phases. These stages take the hero out of the environment they are in, give them
conflicts, make them face a big challenge, sends them home, and finally the hero shares their gift
to their society. This cycle is demonstrated in many adventure stories and movies. In fact, many
authors study Campbell s work when they are writing stories. Bilbo goes through this hero s
journey and this is shown when he goes through stage one and two, four, and five. First, Bilbo goes
through stage one and two of the hero s journey. Stage one and

Marion, By Hunter Korhumel
Marion by Hunter Korhumel Whenever faced with life s hardest moments, we instinctively fear.
There is no avoiding this; as humans we are emotional creatures, and we fear for ourselves and
others. These kind of moments can prove to be transformative in our characters. When I say this
I mean that these times can bring about some of our greatest qualities like strength, fortitude, and
perseverance. When you are the only person there to comfort someone who is looking at a life
threatening illness; your first reaction is to be scared and feel overwhelmed. You find yourself
asking: Am I the right person for this? Do I really have what it takes to be strong for this person? I
found myself in this situation once, and I had to approach these kind questions. When faced with
these questions I made an important transition in my life. I had to put aside my own interests to be

Brown V Board Of Education (Brown) (1954) Marked A Historic
Brown v Board of Education (Brown) (1954) marked a historic victory for civil rights in the
United States. Chief Justice Warren declared the Separate but Equal doctrine unconstitutional,
thereby moving the nation one step closer to a more integrated society. However, despite Brown s
monumental win for racial equality, it is undoubtedly obvious that the Court overstepped its
boundaries in trying to push for progress. In Brown, the Court was unjustified in its actions to
overrule Plessy v Ferguson (Plessy) (1896) and violated its constitutional limit in order to promote
racial integration in public education. In order to fully examine the background and context in
which Brown rose, we must examine Plessy. Plessy was heard in the Supreme... Show more content

Discussing the ambiguities of determining one s race proved irrelevant to this case for Plessy s
race wasn t explicitly stated on the record (Urofsky, 186). Also, the altercation between the
conductor and Plessy had nothing to do with the Conductor s ability to determine Plessy s race
because it was Plessy who self identified as being colored (Urofsky, 186). Lastly, regarding the
constitutionality of the Separate but Equal doctrine, Justice Brown believed racial separation to
be different from racial subordination (Urofsky, 187). He explained that the feeling of inferiority
solely derives from how Black Americans perceive the doctrine, and not from the actual doctrine
itself (Urofsky 187). This decision in Plessy legitimized racial segregation and upheld the
constitutionality of Louisiana s doctrine. By the time Brown rolled around, America was in dire
need of a remedy caused by the aftermath of Plessy. Brown was a compilation of four similar cares,
all dealing with the question of whether primary and secondary public school should be racially
integrated. Segregation kept Black students from attending schools closer to home, sometimes
forcing young kids to travel miles away from home to receive an education. Segregation was getting
ridiculous to the point where White Southerners would build a completely new institutions, just to
stop Black students from entering their schools (Urofsky, 279). With Brown, plaintiffs sought to
prove that

Definition Essay On Good Character
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, character is defined as, one of the attribute or
features that make up and distinguish an individual or a feature used to separate distinguishable
things into categories. With these two definitions it becomes easy to apply them to human context.
In the first definition it defines characteras something that distinguishes an individual. Many things
can distinguish you from someone else, this can include but not be limited to, work ethic, grades,
respect, responsibility, and honesty. All these things are also life skills, things that will help you in
the future. And you can learn them at any time. In this report i will discus what good character is,

Good character means showing up on time, giving an effort, and so much more. It is the
pinnacle of being successful. And keeping up with the world. Good character is that one thing
that sets you apart from your opponent., that separates the good guys and the bad guys. Many
people will entirely disregard you when no good character is shown, doors will close,
opportunities will be wasted, and rejections will be made. But if the opposite is applied the
opposite will happen. Doors will open, opportunities will be made, and people will respect you.
All this can happen, but it is up to you what will happen. Will you have people respect you, will
you create opportunities, or will you have people ignore you, and reject you. This may sound like
an easy decision to make, but for many people who don t have the drive to put forth the effort it

  • 3. Analysis Of Exelon ( Rivastigmine Tartrate ) Exelon (Rivastigmine Tartrate) is a hydrogen tartrate salt of Rivastigmine that acts as a reversible cholinesterase inhibitor. As a cholinesterase, it is administered in an increasing amount over a set period of time. Through the inactivation of butyrlcholinesterase and acetylcholinesterase, Exelon prevents the breakdown of the chemical acetylcholine which is thought to be important in memory, thinking, and reasoning. Due to these capabilities, it is frequently employed to combat the effects of dementia due to Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases where patients tend to have a lower concentration of acetylcholine. Rivastigmine is also under evaluation in clinical trials as a treatment for cocaine dependence. It can be employed both orally and as a transdermal patch. The patch is more popular due to fewer side effects. In addition, Exelon has a size of about 250Da per moleculeНѕ this is small relative to the benchmark of 500Da for transdermal transfer. Its small size combined with its lipophillic and hydrophilic nature makes it ideal for topical administration. Rivastigmine has a halflife of about 1.5 hours and when taken in a transdermal patch, it has a lag phase of between 0.5 and 1 hour. When taken orally, it has a bioavailability that is linear until about 3mg at 40%. It then follows a nonlinear pharmacokinetic model, as its bioavailability will increase with an increase in dosageНѕ when administered via transdermal patch, approximately 50% of the active ingredient is ... • 4. Dualism In Val Plumwood s Paths Beyond Human-Centeredness Val Plumwood in her essay Paths Beyond Human Centeredness, illustrates the impact that humans have on nature and non animals when it comes to preserving environments. Understanding that nature has it s living properties that let it thrive among its resources allows for people to grasp the complexities that come about when construction companies destroy the environment in which they work. Plumwood uses the term dualism to refer to the sharp distinction between two classes of individuals. There is the high class, which is considered as the One. In contrast, the other side of the division consists of individuals that are classified as lower and are subordinates to the One as Others. This account on dualism allows the reader to understand how humans can significantly alter the environment because of the way they perceive its resources and inhabitants. Plumwood defines five characteristics that illustrate the oppressive actions that change the connection between human relations and the relationship between humans and nature. In any case, individuals within society become oppressed as higher ranked groups control their lower class counterparts. The five characteristics that pertain to human oppression become defined in Plumwood s essay as: radical exclusion, homogenization, denial, incorporation, and instrumentalism. Radical exclusion refers to the separating of men as the One and women as the Other. Furthermore, this term means that the qualities of women become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Glenarm Company Case Report The Glenarm Company Case Report Executive Summary The Glenarm Company case study is based on Peter Sherman, CFA holder, and the ethical implications involved with his move from Pearl Investment Management to the Glenarm Company for a new position. This is Sherman s last week working at Pearl for 5 years as a junior research analyst before he moves to his new employer Glenarm as a portfolio manager. The past history of the Glenarm Company regarding ethical problems has set the circumstances (which can be viewed as ethically dubious) to allow the opportunity for Sherman to switch firms. This switch has then also given Sherman the opportunity and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result he has also violated Standard VI Conflict of Interest (A): Disclosure of Conflicts, which states Sherman should have provided full disclosure on these matters that have created a conflict of interest. Sherman s objectivity was compromised which resulted in him taking unethical actions and violating Standard IV Duties to Employers (B) and most importantly Standard I Professionalism (B): Independence and Objectivity. Clients are not the only thing Sherman is wrongfully taking from Pearl. Research on companies, marketing presentations, financial models and similar work he has worked on at Pearl is being taken to be used at Glenarm. Research and models developed while employed by a firm are the property of the firm. (CFA Institute, 2011, p. 40) as stated under Standard I Professionalism . Unless Pearl had explicitly given Sherman a written consent to take his research with him to Glenarm, he is not allowed to take Pearl s property as stated under Standard IV (A) Duties to Employers. Recommendations for Correction and Prevention Not all unethical actions committed in this situation can be corrected, but policies could have been implemented by the firms to prevent them from happening. As a CFA holder, Sherman should have not solicited Pearl s clients while he was employed at the firm. To correct this, he should first state the nature of the situation without bias to himself or either firm. He should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Silk Road Ethnography The media s skewed outlook and reports on the deep web has affected the way the majority of people view this resource that is inherently not a bad tool. The media also misrepresents the deep web by confusing it with the darknet and giving false information about the two. It is easy to get caught in the wave of horror stories that appear in magazines and online content about the deep web and the darknet, but more often than not the deep web is doing more good than is portrayed by the media. The advances in cryptography that is being used within the deep web and the darknet are creating a safer environment for reporters and political activists; even the simple internet user needs cryptography to protect their information stored in the deep web.... Silk Road is a vehicle for that message. All else is secondary, (5). In the same documentary many anonymous interviews were done with people associated with Silk Road. One interviewee states that the site had threads with, great political and philosophical discussions, (5). He also points out that although illegal things were happening, the site itself was a community for like minded people to come and discuss things that maybe they would not be allowed to, or they would not want to, if others knew their true identity. F E A T U R E Coral L Smith Ian M Shochet QueenslandUniversityofTechnology,Australia The Impact of Mental Health Literacy on HelpSeeking Intentions: Results of a Pilot Study with First Year Psychology Students Key words: mental health literacy; help seeking; young adults Introduction The mental health of young adults is an area of public health concern. It is important for those with mental health issues to receive the appropriate support and treatment, and their own help seeking behaviours are central to this outcome (Rickwood etal, 2005). However, help seeking rates amongst young adults are less than optimal (Biddle etal, 2007). A factor that may facilitate help seeking and that has been discussed in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While suggesting a link between knowledge about mental illness symptoms and awareness of appropriate help sources, it does not provide information about the young person s own help seeking intentions should they develop a similar problem. Studies investigating barriers to help seeking can provide this information, with many identified barriers reflecting deficits in mental health literacy. A barrier to help seeking identified by several studies was the belief that psychological problems will improve by themselves and/or can be selfmanaged (Cigularov etal, 2008; Eisenberg etal, 2007; Vanheusden etal, 2008). A related barrier identified by Eisenberg etal (2007) is normalising the problem. These barriers suggest a lack of knowledge about the importance of help seeking for symptoms of mental illness, and may also indicate negative beliefs about mental illness. A further barrier related to such negative beliefs is the view that requiring help is a sign of mental weakness (Vanheusden etal, 2008). The belief that treatment might make things worse or that treatment would not help (Vanheusden etal, 2008) may indicate lack of knowledge about the helpfulness of interventions that are available for many mental illnesses. Knowledge deficits in a range of practical areas have also been identified as barriers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Contributions Of The Han And Roman Attitudes Towards... Caitlin Ginther AP World History Mr. Faught 10 March, 2017 Han and Roman Attitudes Towards Technology During the Han and Roman civilizations many new developments of useful technology took place, at the hands of thousands of people. The Romans built brilliant new technologies such as their aqueducts and the creation of concrete which helped build better, stronger structures. The Han also had technologies they developed to help their society, such as their agricultural advancements with farming tools and the using the ox. Attitudes towards the technology at the time for each civilization caused pride and encompassed order to accumulate success, but the Han viewed workers more equally than the Romans did in the making of these magnificent advances. Both the Han and Roman empires exhibited the need for control and order in the development of new technologies. They strived for their new creations to be the best, and aimed for perfection. In the creation of Roman aqueduct, there was an extremely structured pattern to follow in building the structures. The elevations reached a specific height, the volume was measured on scales, and they made sure water lead to many different areas (Doc 8). Another example of the Romans attempts to strive for perfection is present in the building of the roads. They had to be precise and straight for travel, equal and parallel in their measurements, and even had road markers (Doc 6). They also had to packed one with numerous layers of sand and ... They were sent from the Dauphin, son of the French King. The Dauphin s message is an insulting rejection of Henry s claim to the French dukedoms and refers to his reputation as a trivial pleasure seeker. The message is accompanied by a mocking gift of tennis balls, suggesting that he should go and play games. Dramatically this is a tense moment. The Dauphin has under estimated Henry. The childhood imagery of Henry has departed and now arose a new King. Henry is a reformed character. He admits that he did not value his position and responsibility when he was in his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King Henry then comes back to the theme of the tennis in his reply to the Dauphin and warns that a more deadly game will follow. There is much confident in Henry s speech. He is contrasting the image of the tennis game to the game of war as he says we will in France, by God s Grace, play a set. There is a tone change, when he states God, but there is also reference to Henry s religious side. God permits Henry s anger. When Henry says play a set , he declares that they will play a game of war. There is a pun when Henry says courts. That all the courts of France will be disturbed. The word court is used in two different terms in Henry s speech. Firstly the term court could mean tennis courts and secondly it could mean the courts of France, where the battle will commence. Henry replies to the Dauphin that the tennis balls will be turned into gun stones, Hath turned his balls to gun stones, at the battle and this is an extended metaphor. Henry again refers to God, his soul. God is mentioned a few times by Henry and this establishes an image that God is on Henry s side. The word mock is used four times in Henry s lecture meaning he shows anger at the Dauphin s mockery of the tennis balls. Just as tennis is a mock game and the game they are going to play in France will make mockery of Dauphin judgement and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quadrant One is associated with the situations in relation to the cultural environment surrounding the organisation in which may not be appropriate any longer. For changelike this, it needs to be made on a wide scale, either for the complete organisation, or the majority of it, the Emergent approach; such as (Kanter Et Al s 1992 Long March) which focuses on both the collaborative and political ideas of change that are more appropriate then current states. The Essex Fire And Rescue Review (2015) support the idea of change in culturethat may not be appropriate any longer in that environment. An independent review of claims of intimidation at a fire service has found evidence of dangerous and pervasive bullying . The cultural review was commissioned by Essex Fire Authority last year after bullying was reported and two serving fire fighters took their own lives (Guardian 2015). This idea is supported by the (Independent Cultural Review Of County Essex Fire and Rescue Service 2015) who claim If culture is to change then senior leadership is absolutely critical, in terms of both modelling behaviour and giving permissions to subordinate staff to innovate and appropriately challenge poor performance including that of management. Affirmative action is controversial due it s issue of whether the generation of today should pay for the past injustices done to certain ethnicities. It questions the constitutionality of its existence and whether it perpetuates racial discrimination. Although affirmative action is a great start in promoting diversity and exposing diverse perspectives in an educational field, it s time to realize its modern predicaments and visualize how to better progress in terms of admission for the future of the diversified generations of America. Thus it is vital to address reasons why it should not be prolonged in order to create better opportunities to those who are at a disadvantaged. • 19. The Differences Between The And Of The Christian Realist... The different Christian views struggle with the brokenness of human nature. The difference in views lies in how this brokenness is interpreted. How does one balance the human being who is born in the image and likeness of God, yet, has fallen from grace? The two distinct views will revolve around seeking answers to this question, and what is the best way to act on these answers in dealing with the broken human. It becomes a question of mercy and grace in this world versus a constant searching by the human, which only ends in the presence of God. The latter reflects the view of the Christian Realist. The philosopher and father of the Christian Realist position, Reinhold Niebuhr, argues that Augustine s City of God lays the foundation for the Christian realist thought. It is in this work that Augustine presents a realistic view of humankind that was in contrast with the classical view of the human being. The latter s view idealized human s unlimited potential because of their ability to reason. Niebuhr argues that this difference in the viewpoints of Augustine and the classical philosophers lies in Augustine s biblical, rather than rationalistic, conception of human selfhood with the ancillary conception of the seat of evil being in the self (Niebuhr, Christian Realism and Political Problems 123 124). It is from this concept that Niebuhr argues that human nature is evil as a result of sin. This sinful nature of the human has forever shaped his movements. It drives his ... Tom and Summer met each other when they were both working at a greeting card company and their relationship began and ended within two years. Tom is best considered to be a hopeless romantic, whereas Summer does not believe in the fantasy of love. Summer s aversion to love stems from her parent s divorce, but it is the opposite for Tom even though his parents were divorced also. With Tom and Summer being two polar opposites from each other, it is easy to see how their relationship will already have conflict embedded within it. Although their story is not a conventional love story, Tom and Summer s relationship that they never put a label on can be applied to various concepts of male/female communication. Tom and Summer s relationship can be best analyzed by using John Lee s types of love, with a focus on eros, ludus, and mania; and their relationship can also be analyzed by using dependence power theory. • 28. Where Would We Be Without Technology Essay Where would we be without technology? Technology is one of the most important tools that drives society. Technology is defined as a tool, discovery or invention that makes day to day tasks easier. An example of this is one of humanity s first and instrumental discoveries: the discovery of fire. Equally important is the invention of farming. Yet perhaps the most important invention of all is the invention of steam power. Each of these inventions or discoveries impacted society in a positive and important way. These three innovations throughout humanhistory are prime examples of how the evolution of technology can benefit society in many ways. The discovery of fire had a colossal effect on society in the stone ages and throughout all of human history, including modern day. The discovery of fire, through random chance or by possibly knowing the potential benefits that fire provided, was the starting point which helped humans evolve alongside this new technology. The technological advantages that fire provided was an invaluable aid to human lives. It helped man stay warm, keep away dangerous animals, and most importantly cook food. The ability to stay warm in harsh environments provided a clear advantage for the human race that it never would have had without the discovery of how to make fire. Staying warm helped to detour colds, viruses and other cold related illnesses, including what is now known as snow blindness and frost bite. Fire provided humans with one of the ... There are quite a number of mental disorders but I will only focus on attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder because it is the most studied mental disorder and the most frequently diagnosed disorder especially in children. This disorder causes inability to pay attention, difficulty in controlling one s behaviors or causes one to be excessively active. A lot of misleading information about this disorder is everywhere in the communities and even the society. Some do not even believe it is real and therefore it is important to understand what this disorder is. Patients with these disorders will mostly act without thinking and therefore impacting on their families and loved ones. The actual cause of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders is not known but other factors may be a trigger. These factors may include genetics, the society and the environment (Joel 2006). Some medical conditions and previous brain infections or cases of trauma. Textile workers were oppressed and dissatisfied, but had no voice in the mill. The report showed that 29 transit systems charged no busfare for students and 26 transit systems charged $1.00 to $1.50 per local bus ride. However, majority of shuttle services for on campus circulation were offered free to ride. Another interesting fact mentioned in the report was that around 60% of the universities utilized remote park and ride services. The report revealed the fact that many institutions were found to be charging low parking prices to their staffs and faculties. Nine institutions reported to have annual parking fee less than $100. The report also mentioned that this reduced parking price was not supporting the concept of reducing the number of single occupant vehicle (SOV). The report recommended for conducting more research on the safety system, including late night safety and emergencies regarding the transit system. Similarly, the report on ... • 34. Music And Censorship In Rock And Roll Music Censorship has long been an issue in Rock and Roll music. Although our American society celebrates classic rock that emerged in the 60 s and 70 s, today, artists such as: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, and Bob Dylan were harshly judged for their music and image they projected because some members of society feared they were too suggestive, or just completely inappropriate. These rebellious artists fought against their music being censored in the best ways for their bands. The Rolling Stones was one of the first bands of the 60 s to have their song (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction banned from the radio due to the fact that some could consider it indecent (Rutledge Borger, 2012). The Stones music was enjoyed by many, but the lyrics had the potential to spark controversy, especially during live performances. Producers and planners of live performances were more conservative and cautious of keeping television clean and suitable for all ages, and would go to great lengths to make sure that all was kept modest. That is exactly what happened on The Ed Sullivan Showon September 11, 1967. The Rolling Stones were allowed to perform on the show as long as they agreed that they would change the let s spend the night together lyrics to a more appropriate let s spend some time together (Richin, 2015). • 35. Endocrine Disruptors Essay Endocrine Disruptors During recent years, numerous newspaper and magazine articles have suggested that humans may be at risk because small amounts of well known environmental contaminants, such as dioxin, PCBs and DDT, can affect hormone levels. Hormones are produced by the endocrine system as regulators of biological function in target organs. Because hormones play a critical role in early development, toxicological effects on the endocrine system often have an impact on the reproductive system. The term endocrine disruptor is used to describe chemicals that can mimic hormones and may either enhance or counteract their effects. It has been suggested that these hormone changes can, in turn, lead to a variety of health problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the area where the eggs were collected, there was multiple female female pairing and low hatchability of eggs. Males exposed as embryos to estrogenic pesticides showed decreased to no sexual behaviour. (Fry and Toone, 1981) Louis Guillette noticed that male alligators from Lake Apopka in Florida have vestigial penis, follicle like testis and elevated estrogens/testosterone ratios and the female hatching s ovaries were producing multiple egg follicles and eggs with several nuclei (Luoma, 1995, Guillette et al., 1995) The females also had above normal estrogens levels. When he and his colleagues did a similar injection study with DDT and DDE, they produced results similar to those found in the field. The reduction in penis length and the abnormal gonads made the hatchlings reproductively incapable. Both the bird and alligator studies were prompted by the contamination of large water bodies by organochlorins and the low breeding success of the animals living and feeding in these areas. Welfare Reform Essays Welfare Reform Under the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) replaced AFDC, ending some Federal responsibility to welfare assistance. States operate their own programs; determine eligibility services to be provided to needy families, within Federal guidelines. The Federal government cannot regulate the conduct of states except to a few requirements, and states have a wide latitude in administering the program to provide assistance to needy families so that children can be cared for in their own homes; to reduce dependency by promoting job preparation, work and marriage; to prevent out of wedlock pregnancies; and to encourage the formation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under this Act, states are awarded for increasing the number of children below 200 percent of poverty who reside in married couple families (Nathan Gais, 1999). This measure is based on the theory that children in single parent homes are at greater risk than those in two parent families and the best solution is marriage. In short, the federal government is rewarding states for encouraging marriage, a very personal decision. How do states measure the results of having more couples getting married? Over the past five years, the federal government has also found it difficult to measure improvement in states. Currently, success is based in terms of job entry rate or increases over time in job entry rate, retention rate, and earnings gain. States may use quarterly unemployment insurance wage records, surveys, administrative records, or a combination of those data sources. States are given wide latitude in the sources of information they report. Also, to further distort the findings, there is no baseline data with which to make comparisons (Danziger, 2000). Whose interests are best served by the current welfare requirements? TANF encourages states to provide assistance to those welfare recipients who are most likely to succeed at employment, ignoring individuals who are harder to place. • 37. The Difference Between Egenarianism And Egalitarianism Due to this topic s controversy in the evangelical church, I am very grateful to learn about these two different views. The variation of the views even within the egalitarian and complementarian perspectives was interesting. It reminded me that in ourselves alone unity cannot be found. Only in Christ can we obtain unity displaying a countercultural attribute that reflects His light and hope for this world. I am praying for our Great God s faithful help in this. Egalitarian Perspective In learning about the egalitarian perspective from Linda L. Belleville and Craig S. Keener, the bottom line difference between egalitarians and complementarians seems to be the extent of which women can lead men. The egalitarian believes scripture supports mutual ministry opportunity for both genders. Belleville states Egalitarian is to believe in the mutual gifting of women and men . (35) Keener s four options of viewing women in ministry is also very helpful. The fourth option is The Bible permits women s ministry under normal circumstances but prohibits it in exceptional cases, in which case we should allow it under most circumstances today (Gundry, Beck 206). The egalitarian view is not about who has authority over a congregation, but by grace is given to believers through Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit, empowerment is given both genders to minister to the congregation and equip the saints for ministry. Authority is given to Jesus Christ. The command scripture gives to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aristotle, Using Oedipus as an ideal model, says that a tragic hero must be an important or influential man who has a lapse in judgment. Who then must suffer the consequences of his actions. The audience must learn a lesson from the tragic hero; a lesson of what happens when great men fall from their social or political positions. The tragic hero needs his errors in judgment for a phenomenal effect of audience realization to occur. Oedipus tries to prevent his terrible fate from occurring after it is prophesized to Laius, his father, early on; he leaves the city of his foster parents as a preventative measure. Oedipus is being punished for his parents actions. His birth parents once set out to seek the advice of the Delphi Oracle but the advice was gloom. They were told never to have children, but in spite of the warning Oedipus was born. Therefore from the beginning Oedipus is a tragic hero, his birth presents his destiny to result in tragedy. As with most tragedies Oedipus birth was noble which made his fall more intriguing to the audience. What use are my eyes to me, who could never See anything pleasant again? The Hobbit is also an adventure story that follows the classic, hero s journey. The protagonist of the novel, Bilbo, is much like the European explorers in the Age of Exploration during the 15th Century. For example, Christopher Columbus was widely regarded as a hero during his time. Columbus was a Spanish explorer that is known for discovering the Americas. In 1492, Columbus set sail west in hopes of discovering a new route to the Indies, instead he found America. Like Bilbo, Columbus was an ordinary person who went on an adventure, faced challenges, and in the end, became a hero. Previously, a hero s journey was mentioned. The pattern that heroes go through in their journey was discovered by writer Joseph Campbell. Campbell studied many adventure stories and noticed a pattern that all of the heroes went through. He said that the journey they take happens in seven phases. These stages take the hero out of the environment they are in, give them conflicts, make them face a big challenge, sends them home, and finally the hero shares their gift to their society. This cycle is demonstrated in many adventure stories and movies. In fact, many authors study Campbell s work when they are writing stories. Brown was a compilation of four similar cares, all dealing with the question of whether primary and secondary public school should be racially integrated. Segregation kept Black students from attending schools closer to home, sometimes forcing young kids to travel miles away from home to receive an education. Segregation was getting ridiculous to the point where White Southerners would build a completely new institutions, just to stop Black students from entering their schools (Urofsky, 279).
