Baring Brothers Co.) was the oldest merchant banking company in England. Barings collapsed
on February 26, 1995 as the result of the activities of one of its traders, Nick Leeson, who lost
$1.4 billion by investing in the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX) with
primarily derivative securities. This was actually the second time the bank had been faced with
bankruptcy. 5 Following the collapse, Barings was purchased by the Dutch bank/insurance

Analyzing Shawshank Redemption
The film that will be analyzed and discussed is the Shawshank Redemption, which was Director
by Frank Darabont and is a Story by Stephen King. It is based in 1946, a man named Andy
Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of killing his wife and her lover, and him going to prison
and dealing with the struggles of prison life as a truly innocent man. . He s sentenced to a life term
at the Shawshank State Prison in Maine, where another lifer, Ellis Red Redding (Morgan Freeman),
picks him as the new recruit most likely to crack under the pressure. The ugly realities of prison
life are quickly introduced to Andy: a corrupt warden (Bob Gunton), ... Show more content on

The film s opening scene shows him being given two life sentences for the murder of his wife
and her lover, and then we move, permanently, to a point of view representing the prison
population and particularly the lifer Ellis Red Redding. It is his voice remembering the first
time he saw Andy ( looked like a stiff breeze would blow him over ), and predicting, wrongly, that
he wouldn t make it in prison. (Ebert, 1999). The story takes place in a prison in Ohio back in
1946. The category of irony used in this film is situational irony which Situational irony occurs
when we expect one thing to happen and something else does. (Goodykoontz, amp; Jacobs, 2011
Ch. 2.4). The Shawshank is about Andy, but it is but the story isn t through his own eyes, had
this film been through the eyes of Andy it would have turned out completely different, this plays
a large part in the situational irony because Red is our surrogate. He s the one we identify with,
and the redemption, when it comes, is Red s. We ve been shown by Andy s example that you
have to keep true to yourself, not lose hope, bide your time, set a quiet example and look for your
chance. I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really, he tells Red. Get busy livin or get busy
dyin . . (Ebert, 1999).
Acting
Darabont constructs the film to observe the story, not to punch it up or upstage it. Upstaging, in

UK Conference and banqueting is normally organizing an event, complete with main courses
and desserts. It usually serves a purpose, such as a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a
celebration, small meetings, corporate gatherings, seminars, family occasions or weddings As of
now, conferences are considered as one of the most essential and significant aspects in

His simplification of the menu and emphasis on wines were major elements in the development of
a style of banqueting that prevailed over the next 165 years of White House functions. During the
presidency of John Kennedy, banquets were enhanced by the contributions of Jacqueline
Kennedy. Like Jefferson, Mrs Kennedy preferred menus of simple elegance that concentrated on a
high quality of food and service. The records tracing the development of the banquet menu
throughout the centuries provide a rich and exciting chronicle of food items, recipes, and
traditions. Many of these food items and recipes endure in our contemporary food customs. Today
in the UK, banquets serve many purposes from training sessions, to formal business dinners.
Business banquets are a popular way to strengthen bonds between businessmen and their partners.
It is common that a banquet is organized at the end of an academic conference. A luau is one
variety of banquets originally used in Hawaii. The Nei Mongol provincial government in China

Self Portrait with Monkey: By Frida Kahlo
Self Portrait with Monkey made in the year of 1938 by Frida kahlo a Mexican artist who was
influence by the traumatizing events that occurred during her early life. Which were physically
and psychologically tragic. Frida Kahlo used her personal tragedies to create art. She painted
herself because it was what she knew best. Kahlo s Self Portrait with Monkey, was made to show a
living and soulful being holding her by having his arm around her neck as a form of protection.
She described the pet as the child she couldn t have. The portrait is in the Buffalo Art Gallery in
New York, and has been stationed there since 1966 by collector Anson Conger Goodyear.

My Experience With The End Game
As I sat looking at the final, Dr. Van Tassell gave, I tried to decide what he was up to with this
assignment. What is the benefit, the end game? He always had something up his sleeve. So, I
thought: Is what we answer going to be our real final grade or is this for his own gain? Maybe
both? I still haven t figured it out. Therefore, I must press onward to the actual assignment. Here
it is: I believe I earned an A in INTS 2630; although, in the estimation of my class grades, I earned
a B. I believe I earned an A, because of my mastery and understanding of the course material. The
evidence can be found in the content of my course work and the ability to move forward in my
major with the concepts and ideas attained in the class. Throughout the semester, I found myself
drowning in my daily to do list and unsure of what the bigger picture could be. I had assignments
in each one of classes every single day we met, alongside a full time job, pledging a sorority
(another full time job) and an almost twice daily commute. All of the work forced me to utilize
every second I could spare. I did school work at work and, really, wherever else possible.
Honestly, some days, the class work had been finished on time and other days, it had not. In
INTS 2630, the updated copies of my essays did not always make it on the commute with me.
Sometimes, they were simply not updated or worked on. As for the readings, they had always
been completed in time for class. I found a way to use my

The Sun God And Hercules Masculinity In Hamlet
Due to the death of his father and the remarriage of his mother, Hamlet must now be subservient
to his Uncle Claudius, for whom he has no respect. In his soliloquy, Hamlet contrasts his late
father with his uncle like a Hyperion to a satyr, [...] My father s brother, but no more like my father
than I to Hercules (1.2.140 153). To Hamlet, both Hyperion (the Sun God) and Hercules (a
demigod) represent the epitome of strength. In the case of Hercules, he embodies the patriarchal
ideal of masculinity violent, dominant, and immortal. He promotes the image that men should be
unfeeling, undoubting, and all action and no words. This is the unattainable standard of
masculinity that men in Hamlet s society is subject to, since in order to be a Real Man , that

Instead of being bold and brash, he is thoughtful, sensitive, and emotional, which are typically
traits reserved for women. As a result, the way that others perceive his mental instability is
derived from how much he falls short of male social expectations. His exhibition of emotions
deemed unfit for men, such as pain and vulnerability, identifies him as a social outlier. This
vulnerability is triggered by the sudden death of his father, which he vocalizes at his uncle s
coronation. Hamlet complains that he wished the Everlasting had not fixed/ His canon gainst self
slaughter! (1.2.131 132). In this scenario, death equates inaction, since Hamlet cannot do anything
if he kills himself. This contrasts the male social expectations placed upon him, since he is
expected to act on his father s behalf by taking revenge on his enemies and inflicting outward
damage. However, Hamlet chooses to direct his frustrations inward, reflecting on his actions in long
soliloquies and thinking about self harm and

To think that slavery days are over and people from minority communities in America don t face
racial discrimination at the hands of public authorities would be self delusional. Slavery still exists
in the US but in a different form and with new mechanisms. Private prison system is one such
mechanism through which racialized America is still maintained holding people of African
American and Hispanic origin in confinement for years irrespective of the fact whether there are
actual crimes reported or not. High incarceration rate, nexus between the corporate companies and
government agencies, racial prejudice against people of black underclass, dehumanization of

There is no doubt that his crossing over has definitely provided him with a middle class
perspective on the world around where he can see his progression from the stagnant world of the
underclass into a middle class world which is full of opportunities and prospects. However, we
need to be alert to the fact that his perception of the underclass world is not prejudiced or
unnecessarily biased as one can see in the case of Bill Cosby. Bill Cosby can be seen
representing the lot of those who have crossed over; those who have risen up the socio
economic ladder with a typical black middle class mentality which is apathetic and indifferent to
the people hanging at the lower rung of the society. His is an attitude which Michael Eric Dyson
calls Afristocracy where the black elite blame the black poor for all the things that go wrong in
the black world, and curse them for not doing enough for a better life. Whereas John Edgar
Wideman despite his earlier flight from the ghetto life and the demons his brother Robby
personified can be seen reconciling the two contraries and abstaining from a view which is
characteristic of Afristocracy. His is a self that is very much

Reporting and Disclosure
Chapter 5
Reporting and Disclosure
Discussion Questions
1. Transparent financial reporting means that timely and accurate disclosures are made on all
important matters affecting a company s financial position and performance. It implies openness,
communication, and accountability. Transparent financial reporting protects investors because
nothing is hidden from them. Investors can better assess the risks of owning securities when
information is truthful and complete. Transparent financial reporting also improves market quality.
It enhances investor confidence. Open communication creates markets that are fair, orderly,
efficient, and free from abuse and misconduct.
2.Four reasons why multinational corporations are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5.Triple bottom line reporting refers to reporting on a company s economic, social, and
environmental performance. It is a form of social responsibility reporting designed to demonstrate
good corporate citizenship. So called sustainability reports are an increasingly popular means of
triple bottom line reporting. There is substantial variation in social reporting today. More regulation
would improve comparability, but it might also stifle reporting innovations. The usefulness of
social reporting to outside parties, particularly investors, needs to be demonstrated before
implementing more regulation for it.
6. Often we expect to observe less voluntary disclosure by companies in emerging market countries
than by those in developed countries: a. Equity markets are relatively less developed in many
emerging market countries, resulting in lower total demand for company information by investors
and analysts. b. In many emerging market countries, most financing is supplied by banks and
insiders such as family groups. This also leads to less demand for timely, credible public disclosure,
and in these markets enhanced disclosure may have limited benefits.
In general, we expect to

Remember The Titans Equality
Remembering The Struggle The movie Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin is great
depiction of civil rights and the struggle for political equality that African Americans have dealt
with over the past centuries. Although this movie is a representation of the later years of the
twentieth century, the racism and challenges African Americans face are still present in todays
society. The movie takes place just about 7 years after the Civil Right Act of 1964 and the Voting
Rights Act of 1965 was passed, so American were still fairly new to the whole idea of equality. The
movie is based in 1971 in Alexandria, Virginiaat T.C Williams High School, which was a school for

Danielle Agoglia s Study Of Jealousy
Something Mr. Naji brought up was that jealousy and paranoia about what your partner is doing.
Those same temptations you may feel are also pressures for them afterall. But miss Danielle
Agoglia, from Elite Daily, offers another perspective: you need to trust your partner. Letting go of
all those fears and concerns and simply realizing that your partner, just like you, is in loveand wants
to make this work. Just like the participants in Meitzner and Li wen s study, Agoglia found she
began to trustherself a lot more as she trusted her partner. While these are all anecdotal evidence, I
do think it can lend itself to making one think at the very least. Essentially, as you trust your partner

Regardless, trusting your partner not only to do right by you and your relationship but also to help
you when you need it can take a lot of stress off of your shoulders. Learning to really and truly trust
your partner, while easier said than done is essential to a functioning long distance relationship.
There is a difference between trusting support and dependency, however. It is a very important
difference too. As an individual, each partner must come to terms with the distance and be able to
fend for themselves. This may seem at odds with the previous two maintenance methods as it
advocates for more independence from the relationship, but it is important. Unlike a lot of couples
you can t live together and have separate lives and finances. This makes practical support incredibly
difficult, so instead couples emotionally support each other. This is good, and should definitely be
encouraged behavior. Unfortunately, some couples will become emotionally dependent. What this
means is that one partner relies on the other as the source for his or her happiness. In her article on
The Huffington Post, Margaret Paul discusses this issue. I often see couples where one partner is
emotionally dependent

Unit 37 Assignment 3
Social implications of business ethics
Introduction
In this assignment I have been asked to describe the social implications of business ethics facing a
selected business in its different areas of activity. I have then been asked to assess these social
implications of business ethics.
The business organisation I have chosen for this assignment is Boots .
Social implications (P3)
Social implication is a term used to describe the actions of a business that will have an impact on
society as a whole. These could be ethical practises or unethical practises.
There are many different social implications a business might have, these social implications are
highlighted by the way a business will chose to operate. The different social implications a business
might have are related to different areas or departments of activity within a business.
These different areas of activity are:
Ethics in finance
Ethics in production
Ethics in human resources management
Ethics in sales and marketing
Ethics in finance
Ethics in finance is a very important factor to consider when dealing with social implications. There
are lots of unethical behaviour within finance. The main aim for most business organisations is to
generate profit, if something stands in the way of this, a business may chose to use unethical
practises to get around the issue.
Ethics in finance can be broken down into different factors such as, bribery, payday loans, insider

According to the large scale study, when compared with the control groups those with the
combined ADHD symptoms of Inattentiveness and Hyperactive Impulsivity had extreme rates of
circadian rhythm problems, sleep talking and often nightmares. The data in regard to children
on the psycho stimulants, have difficulty pinning whether the medication helps or not. In some
cases, it makes the children s sleep patterns worse. In others it tends to improve or perhaps
normalize in those children with ADHD. It seems that even though medications can have
undesired effects on sleep, it still is unclear one way or the other. In some cases the sleep related
problems may even make the severity of ADHD worse or even produce ADHD like symptoms.
It is important to monitor the sleep pattern in a child diagnosed with ADHD. That way they can
manage the amount of sleep disturbances, and aid in bettering the quality of life for not just the
child, but the parents as well. The aim of the current study is to compare sleep, as reported by
parents, in children diagnosed with HKD versus children with no diagnosis. These children were
matched in their age, sex and school year, with and without medication. They were divided into
two groups elementary aged grades 1 6. The clinical group was of 30 children; 25 boys and 5 girls.

Faith And Faith In The Novel Night By Elie Wiesel
Faith is like a little seed, if you think about the positive aspects of the situation, then it will grow
like how a seed grows when you water it. But if the seed does not receive water anymore, it will
die like how the horrors and negativity of the concentration camps killed Elie s faith. After the
analyzation of the novel Night by Elie Wieselthe reader can visualize the horrors and slaughtering of
millions of innocent people that occurred in concentration camps. Throughout the book, Elie
explains how his faith in Godwas tested, as he was forced to leave his home, separated from his
family, observe how much was being killed all around him, and witness children being thrown
into huge ditches of fire, alive! Elie felt abandoned, betrayed, and deceived, the God that he knew
was a loving and giving God, it was then he started to doubt his existence. Elie tries to hold on to
his faith but the childhood innocence has disappeared from within him and he loses his faith
completely in God, whom he thought would rescue him from his suffering.
In the beginning of the book, Elie s faith in God is so strong that he never questioned the
existence of God. He wanted to get closer to God by studying the Jewish texts more. One day I
asked my father to find me a master who could guide me in my studies of Kabbalah (4). Elie s
father rejects this idea and says he is too young, but even after his father said no, Elie goes to

How Steel Helped Civilizations
Steel helped civilizations like the Fertile Crescent, Eurasia, and Spain develop and improve
farming and battle skills, allowing them to appropriate resources and develop massively.
Four things were needed to make steel: time, specialists, the ability to burn hot fires, and iron.
Semi arid places with four seasons, like the Fertile Crescent, Eurasia, and Spain were able to grow
wheat and sustain domestic animals like horses, pigs, cows, sheep, and goats. Enough food for a
civilization allowed specialists to develop. Perfecting the process of metallurgy was difficult,
tedious work, specialists/ironmongers and extra time were necessary to developing steel
technologies. The Fertile Crescent, Eurasia, and Spain s dry climate allowed them to burn

Ophelia Laertes Character Analysis
Sometimes for an individual the most important thing for them is their values. However those
values can sometimes restrict what actions a person can do. Values like loyalty, family, and
power can result in people having to meet certain requirements to uphold those values. When I
was in elementary school, being loyal to my friends meant that I could not do things like play
with other students, sit with different people during lunch, and it was expected of me to keep their
secrets. There was a moment in which a friend told me that he had broken the rules by playing on
the side of the playground that was hidden from the view of the teachers. A teacher noticed some

There also seems to be a focus on the honor of Ophelia. This means that Laertes has a sense of
importance for the honor of his family. Laertes also states that with too credent ear you list his
songs. His concerns are focused on Ophelia and the damage that might come about from her
interaction with Hamlet. This concern comes with the many warnings that Laertes gives to
Ophelia. Among these warnings include her heart and chaste treasure open . This concern that
Laertes has for Ophelia goes beyond the norm by also going into the sexual life of Ophelia.
There seems to be a strong relationship and a sense of connection between Laertes and Ophelia
in order to openly talk about this topic with her. He also tries to give this information before
leaving for France. This means that protecting Ophelia is one of his priorities. This sense of
loyalty towards his family, especially his sister is what drives him to discuss and try to warn her.
The devotion towards his family can be seen by the way Laertes tries his best to warn Ophelia
before leaving and even though it might be the hard truth. There is a sense of responsibility for
Laertes to warn Ophelia about the dangers that her actions can have to her honor. Laertes concern
for honor results from his loyalty to his family and it actually strengthens that sense of
responsibility that Laertes feels he has to protect the honor of his family. This unconditional love
for his family results in Laertes revealing the strong senses of devotion that he has towards his

Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman
Linda Loman is the heart and soul of the Loman household. She loves her family, even though she
is all too aware of husband s faults and her sons characters. She provides a sharp contrast to the
seamy underbelly of the world of sex, symbolized by the Woman and the prostitutes. They operate
in the real world as part of the impersonal forces that corrupt. Happy equates his unhealthy
relationships with women to taking manufacturer s bribes, and Willy s Boston whore can put him
right through to the buyers. In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Linda Loman holds the family
together through purity and love she keeps the accounts, encourages her husband, and tries to ...

They are thus in an objective rather than subjective category. In any case what feel is always
more real to us than what we know, and we feel the family relationship while we only know the
social one. (Florio 35 36)
If Willy is not totally unsympathetic (and he is not), much of the goodness in him is demonstrated
in his devotion to his wife, according to his lights. Though he is often masterful and curt, he is
still deeply concerned about her: I was fired, and I m looking for a little good news to tell your
mother, because the woman has waited and the woman has suffered. Biff is attached to his mother,
and Happy s hopelessness is most graphic in his failure to be honest with, or concerned about, his
family. The family s devotion to one another, even though misguided, represents a recognizable
American ideal.
Linda, for all her warmth and goodness, goes along with her husband and sons in the best
success manual tradition. She tries to protect them from the forces outside and fails. The
memory of her suffering and her fidelity does not keep Willy and Happy from sex or Biff from
wandering. Miller s irony goes still deeper. While Linda is a mirror of goodness and the source of
the family s sense of identity, she is not protection by her silence and her support, she unwittingly
cooperates

Strict Gun Laws
Guns can take out somebody s life in an instant, now think for a minute. What if you just lost one
of your closest family members to a gun? Gun control laws need to be a lot more strict because the
U.S. alone loses over 30,000 people a year due to gun related deaths. That s over 87 people going
down every day (Watkins). People are against strict gunlaws, all they want is a weaponto protect
themselves from other people with guns. If the laws are more strict though, you wouldn t needthe
gun because there would be no guns allowed (Harrison). Gun laws need to be more strict so less
gun related crimes happen, people are safe, and it makes it a lot harder for people to get guns.
The United States of America needs a lot tougher gun laws because we have the most weapons in
the whole world and that shows that people could be doing the wrong things for the wrong reason
(Everitt and Pratt). Studies have shown that when people purchase weapons only 60% of the
licensed suppliers do a background check (Everitt and Pratt). According to multiple sources, ВЁGun

The main way people get these guns illegally are that somebody with a gun permit buys them
and sells them illegally to people without licenses (Leftwich). Also terrorist groups and others
like that are buying bigger weapons like a .50 caliber rifle which is very powerful, and they are
getting these by smuggling them over the border. A recent poll was released and it was debating
whether or not they should do background checks at the places they are going to buy them at.
92% of people say they should and 8% of them say that we should just get rid of guns all together
besides the law enforcement (Leftwich). So the lethal weapons are taking so many innocent lives
away that it needs to be stopped

Flight Of The Amazon Queen takes place in the 1940 s and is the story about Joe King, pilot for

phantom primates, 6ft tall pygmies, Amazon woman, dinosaurs and a whole lot more
weirdness. As you can see in the tradition of the best B movies this game doesn t take itself too

like Monkey Island and Indiana Jones had a big influence on it. Even the interface is reminiscent
of early SCUMM engine games with your selection of actions and inventory along the bottom of

The dramatic rise of information technology has resulted in business managers requiring their
employees to not only be skilled in numeracy, reading, writing, speaking and listening but also
I.C.T, which in itself requires a certain level of numeracy, reading and writing skills in order for
them to be used in a way that meets the departmental or wider organisational goals and objectives.
In a much wider context, literacy is important in order for a country as a whole to remain
competitive in an increasing global market and to retain economic stability. It is extremely
important, therefore, to ensure that mechanisms and tools are in place to help children and
adults improve their literacy skills and that in particular children are better prepared for college
and University education or their entry into the job market. The problem of literacy skills
deficiency is not just UK exclusive: it is a global problem as the ACCI report indicates. Literacy
skills have proved to be very important especially in the modern age where businesses and world
economies are driven by the use of technologies for communication and commercial transactions
across the globe. It is the responsibility of the respective Government of each country to realise the
importance of literacy; to invest adequate research funding into how literacy can be improved in
children and adults; develop possible proposals for changes to Primary, Secondary

Webb Garrison Research Paper
In Webb Garrison s book he wrote about how during the late 1800 s many people were taken as
hostages. Some of these hostages were held for safety. 15 members of the confederate navy were
being charged of piracy instead of putting them as prisoners. Many of public functionaries and
prominent citizens were taken as hostages. Some of these hostages were part of the 250 union men.
In addition, many families were also taken as hostages. 150 facilities, North and South, had
prisoners during the war. With the possibility that many privateers would be executed, the
Confederates made a decision of using union prisoners of war as hostages in many prisons. There
were many things that happened during this time. For example, Lincoln had a big position during

As a result of this, they were put in prisons. One of the events that took place during this time was
the evacuation of Fort Sumter by the federal Major Robert Anderson. This happened on Sunday,
April 15, 1861. In addition, it was also stated that due to the United States refusing to sign the
Treaty of Paris, which out lawed the practice of privateering on the high seas, now becomes
something big because privateers men are now being executed.
Moreover, during an extensive struggle on the Morris island, a lot of numbers of torpedoes were
being used by the rebels in defense of Fort Wagner. In one of the huge explosions, a corporal of

The thesis Webb Garrison is trying to display is that about a century before the privateers had been

under international law to license privateers. The possibility that privateers could be captured and

Organizational Environment And Behavior Method
Abstract
Deutsche Lufthansa AG, also known as Lufthansa (sometimes also as Lufthansa German Airlines),
is the largest German airline and, when combined with its subsidiaries, also the largest airline in
Europe, both in terms of passengers carried and fleet size. In this paper, I will initially examine
Lufthansa organizational environment and behavior method. I will start of by analyzing the
collaborative work environment, specifically discussing collaboration techniques, interaction
between leaders and followers, and supportive communication. Therefore, covering the decision
making environment, risk management, and how the organization resolves conflict through the
strategic negotiation process. Secondly, I will examine its approach to accomplish team building
and drive innovation.
Introduction
Today, 90 years ago, the merging of Junkers Luftverkehr AG and German Aero Lloyd AG on
January 6, 1926 in Berlin, was the birth of the German national airline German air Hansa known
today as Deutsche Lufthansa. An amazing foundation of historical events that took place after
World War I, the airline has a story of pioneering spirit, expansionism, visions, and is marked by
continuous improvements and innovations. Lufthansa is one of the largest and best known airlines
in the world. The cooperate headquarters sits in Cologne with major airport hubs located in
Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, and Brussels. The well known charaterisics of the company are

Shaun Of The Dead Movie Analysis
So this week we have the release of Bloodsucking Bastards a horror comedy that Shaun of the
Dead fans might adore(...or maybe not!) Except with pothead s fighting Zombies we have a mix
of The Office battling Vampires! We have Fran Kranz (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, The
Cabin in the Woods, Before I Disappear) playing Evan a likable guy who works for a sales
company. Even though he s surrounded by co workers who d rather, search for porn, play video
games or nap in their cubicles he continues on as the top sales employee who is just oh so close
to that brand new promotion! But when the company President Ted, played by Joel Murray (Mad

It s what I first thought when I saw the trailer and what I was seriously looking forward to but
alas it just wasn t meant to be. Though office jokes fly and we get plenty of the clichГ©d dumb
slacker employees to amuse us throughout the film it just doesn t hit quite hit home. Granted
there were a few chuckles here and there but for the most part I found myself cringing at just
how un funny it was. Like someone is trying to tell a funny joke, and he s not doing so good and
even though he s sinking with his stupidly unfunny joke he still continues to try to tell the joke
in the hopes that it will at some part become funny. Where as I can rattle off a few choice scenes
from Shaun of the Dead that can still make me laugh to this day! There was nothing even
remotely memorable in this film. I will say this: The movie never slows its pace. I was never
bored I wanted to know what Evan and his friends were going to do to stop Max and hopefully
save some of the co workers. And towards the end the battle between the office Vamps and Evan
and his team was pretty cool. As of right now Bloodsucking Bastards is listed as Unrated
however there s lots of swearing, implied sex scenes and blood galore! So don t take the little
ones, even the mildly big ones should wait this one out. Right now Rotten Tomatoes has this horror
comedy at a 53% fresh...? Fresh, yes I believe that s right.

Evolution Of A Large Mammal s Life Cycles
Fossils are considered to be evolutionary markers that records a lineages of creatures across time
providing a distinct way to compare different species. When Darwin set forth on a journey to the
Galapagos Islands, he discovered many aspects of evolution. During his expedition, he discovered
the fossils of creatures which closely resembled the modern armadillos. At that time, Darwin did
not possess any tools or resources to predict the phylogenetic lineages and the evolutionary history
of the armadillos. However, using modern day science and techniques like DNAand protein
sequencing, it is now possible to better understand the relationships between different organisms.
Furthermore, by observing the early developmental (embryonic) stages of a large mammals life
cycles it is possible to indicate the relationship of the mammals with other mammals6. The
combination of these methods may lead us to determine the phylogenetic position of armadillos
Dasypodidae and other related organisms, such as anteaters and sloths.
Armadillos evolutionary history has been a subject of many controversies and has been revised
multiple times. Nevertheless, new developments in sequencing have allowed us to better
understand the evolutionary relations using the DNA and proteins found in the fossils. By the use
of these techniques, we are able to see the points of similarities among different species of
armadillos. Furthermore, we can produce a phylogenetic tree to see the divergence of

Militarized Policing
Military/Police: The Rise of Militarized Policing
Military/Police: The Rise of Militarized Policing
Introduction
The United States has long regarded with great suspicion efforts to use the military as a tool of
civilian law enforcement. In significant part, this attitude grew out of the colonists experiences
with the abuses of the British Army. These abuses included the Boston Massacre of 1770, in which
the British Army opened fire on colonists protesting the use of the army to enforce civilian laws
(Doherty, 2016). These attitudes led to an effort during the early post Revolution period to separate
military and police powers (Doherty, 2016), as well as the Third Amendment with its specific
limitations on the military s authority over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can provide benefits in the form of encouragement tacitly or explicitly towards
professionalism on the part of all police personnel, not just those associated with the PPU.
Although the term police professionalism has fallen into some disfavor due to its association
with a concept of the police as a cold and distant force imposed against crime, the reality is that
militarization does serve to increase consistency of behavior across police forces as well as the
imposition of expectations of professional behavior (Hall Coyne, 2013). Additionally, PPUs may
serve an important morale boosting purpose for police forces, setting a high standard for
competence and ability and creating a goal to which line officers may aspire (Breede, 2008).
Finally, when it comes to civilian law enforcement, it is far more desirable to layer a degree of
military training, tactics, and equipment onto a preexisting police mindset than to try to retrain a
military mindset for civilian law enforcement work (Breede,

Revlon V. Mcandrews And Forbes
Revlon v. McAndrews Forbes: Less than a year later, the Delaware Supreme Court circumscribed
directors freedom of action by holding in this case that, once a sale is in progress, the director s
duty switches from protection or maintenance of the corporate enterprise to obtaining the highest
price for the benefit of the shareholders. In other words, once directors understand that the takeover
will be successful, their duty is simply to obtain the best price for the shareholders.
The first precedents of the Delaware Supreme Court show that the standards were reluctant to the
permissiveness in adopting defensive measures. Rather, the courts preferred the passivity of the
board. However, 4 years later the standards changed when the Court relaxed the reins that had been
tightened in Unocal and Revlon.
Paramount Inc. v. Time Inc.: The court gave more leeway to directors in deciding on defensive
measures, even after it was inevitable that the target would be sold. The court held that directors of
target could consider factors other than money values of the offers, including the amount of
information available to shareholders, the conditions attached to the offers, and the timing. These
factors might justify defensive measures. These defenses were called just say no defenses . They
refer to the ability of directors to simply reject takeovers for the purpose of protecting the
constituencies of the company.

Jit Production System And Quality Control

Variously labelled world class manufacturing , lean production , new production system , JIT/TQC ,
time based competition has become a mainstream approach to production ideology by the major

In design, control and improvement of production systems, both aspects have to be considered.
Herein lies the issue: traditionally managerial philosophies have only considered conversions, either
that or else all activity has been considered as adding value. The general disregard of flow processes
have led to a complex, confused and uncertain understanding of their operation as well an expansion
of non value adding activities and hence a reduction of general output value. Nonetheless a range of
flow process principles have evolved and there is good evidence that these principles have produced
an efficiency of flow processes and also one which may be considerably improved. These can be
summarized thus: 1.Reduce the share of non value adding activities. 2.Increase output value
through systematic consideration of customer requirements. 3.Reduce variability. 4.Reduce cycle
times. 5.Simplify by minimizing the number of steps, parts and linkages. 6.Increase output
flexibility. 7.Increase process transparency. 8.Focus control on the complete process. 9.Build
continuous improvement into the process. 10.Balance flow improvement with conversion
improvement. 11.Benchmark. Various forms of analysis has demonstrated that, as with the
manufacturing sector, the conceptual basis of construction

Analysis Of Fences By August Wilson
The Future is in Your Hands.
Children grow up naturally emulating the adults around them, for most it is their mother and
father, this is natural and typically a positive thing. There are times, however, when the people
that children emulate are not the best examples society has to offer. In the play Fences Cory
looks up to his dad when it comes to sports. However, by the end of the play the reader starts to
notice that Troy is not the man to look up to. The plot in Fences by August Wilsonis centered
around an African Americanfamily that looks at the world a little differently by that I mean when
Troy was young people believed blacks shouldn t be able to do the things whites can. People
were rude and outspoken about how they felt when it came to sharing public things with blacks.
Now Troy s sons are living in a world that has evolved and is not as racist, the boys can go out
and achieve their dreams, even if they are African American it may be difficult but is still
achievable. Because of the change in the way of life there has been a conflict between the two
boys and their father. Troy may realize that things are different now, but that doesn t change the
fact that it is hard for him to let go of the past. Because Troy was unable to play baseball based on
his race, he believes Cory shouldn t be able to go on and play college football. This raises a big
question, is Troy being unfair or is he trying to look out for his son? The main theme throughout the

Charlie Chaplin Characteristics
Charlie Chaplin produced over 35 keystone comedies in the silent era of film, and numerous
talkies, or films with sound, afterwards (Barson). Many consider most of his works masterpieces,
(especially his later ones,) and consider Chaplin a genius of the theater who s had a greater
impact on the film industry than any other man of the era. Chaplin s greatness has a root, as most
things do, within his personal history. Due to disadvantaged childhood and his mother and father
who s occupation s involved performing often, Charlie Chaplin had the ability to relate to his

Anglo Saxon And Germanic Culture In Beowulf
Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture has a very deep culture, in which they are known in history. As
this epic poem is told, Beowulf embodies this culture in his heroic instances during this epic poem.
With the Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture being the backbone of this poem s culture, Beowulf
exemplifies what this culture is and what they stand for. As the story is told and develops with
Beowulf, he himself shows through his heroic instances what it means to be a heroic figure from
this ancient culture having qualities of honor, loyalty, and strength. Beowulf s first showing of
his loyalty was when he heard about Grendel and decided to go defeat this monster. When he
heard about Grendel, Hygelac s thane was on home ground, over in Geatland. There was no one
else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, high born and powerful. He
ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and
search out that king, the famous prince who needed defenders (Beowulf, Line 195). His
decision to go and help the Danes was one of debt, for he knew of Hrothgar and had helped his
father during exile. As Beowulf and his men arrived to Hrothgar s kingdom, his guards didn t
know about this man coming, but when they saw him they were just excited knowing he could be

The infamous Richard Burton comes from a similar cultural background to the aforementioned
Edward Lane, but his translation of A Thousand and One Arabian Nights is perhaps the most
explicit English translation to date. This is not because of radically different cultural values, but
simply based upon the intent of the translators. Burton s intent is also visible in his means of
publication. British conservatism was at its height during the time in which Burton was publishing
his translation, making it so he had to publish said translation privately in order to avoid violating
laws such as the Obscene Publications Act. As one can see via his blatant violation of the law, as
well as Burton s general demeanor, cultural values played an extraordinarily small role in the
maturity level of his

Early Medieval Architecture
Early Medieval structures are typically built from a combination of stone and timber called half
timbered buildings (anything built earlier than the 11th century) and later built with just stone.
They were built with a secure base, easily defended because of the thick high walls, and secure
entry gates to protect from frontal attacks. Some even included keeps, turrets with small, high
windows (which provided protection for archers), and a moat or trench of water to deter
invaders. These buildings were also strategically placed next to bodies of water or mountains to
monitor and control access and resources in case of a siege. This building style was mostly
militaristic and less extravagant because the people in this period from 500 to 1000... Show more

Both forts were placed upon a hill type structure to raise it up and protect it from siege except the
Castillo s was called a glacis. They both had a form of structure to help protect soldiers within it
crenelations in the Windor castle and ravelins in the Castillo. The only differences between the
two were the shapes of the structures the Castillo being made into the shape of a star and the
Windsor castle made into more of a circular type structure around the town, what type of stone
they were made with regular stone vs. Coquina, and how they were built, the Bastion system vs.
motte and bailey castle building, due to varying locations and advances in militaristic building
technology. There were more weapons on the Castillo and they were less about protecting the
people and more about protecting the gold. And ultimately the building of the Castillo was more
advanced because they had the time and greater wealth to develop something of a greater stature
than the fort and it wasn t just made for protection of the people but more so for the protection of
their assets. But without the engineering feats of the Windsor Castle the Castillo may never have
been built because it was a result of years and years of militaristic advances in building technology.

Dealing with the Death of a Family Member
The death of a family member can greatly affect the family system as it creates a void that is
difficult to adjust to. The family experiences a terrible sense of loss, as well as a fear that they
have to carry on with their lives without their loved one (Rotter, 2000). They have a hard time
picturing there knew life and moving on without them. With the familysystem changing it may
destroy the relationships that already exists in the family (Bowlby West, 1983). After the death of
a family member the most difficult time for the family would be the anniversaries. These
anniversaries include the anniversary of the day that the family member died, their birthday as
well as special holidays. These dates are stressful for the family and will be a reminder of the death
(Bowlby West, 1983). The griefprocess that the family system will go through after the death of a
family member may last a long time, especially as they go through the different anniversary s.
Non normative events, such as a child s death by suicide, and accidental death may also make
the grief process more difficult (Rotter, 2000). According to Bowlby (1979) and Parkes (1972)
there are four stages of grief that people will go through during the grief period after the death of
a family member (Bowlby West, 1983). The first phase is a phase of numbness that lasts from a
few hours to a week. They may experience anger and distress as well. They would find it difficult
to cope with tasks because they are preoccupied

Distribution Channels and Their Impact on Marketing Strategies
Name:
Institution:
DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS
Abstract
This paper discusses the importance of choosing appropriate channel members and also identifies
and discusses criteria that should be used by the car compact disc player manufacturer when
evaluating potential intermediaries for the firm s distribution channel. This is important for this
firm since it s only through these marketing channels that their product is going to reach the
consumer. The customer in this case is the auto makers who are intended to buy the newly
developed compact disc player to fix them in the automobiles. The method for marketing this
product is therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bert (1998) explains that the best channel that any manufacturer should prioritize on is one that
makes the end product user happiest, so that they are always willing to buy again the same product
from the same channel member. So it s up to the manufacturer to select a marketing channel that
best serves the interests of the customer.
There are various criteria that are used by the manufacturers to evaluate potential intermediaries for
firm s distribution channel. Among this criteria include
1.Lot size
2.Waiting time
DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL
3.Spatial convenience
4.Product variety
5.Service backup
I will discuss each of the above criteria which should be used by the compact disc manufacturer to
evaluate for an appropriate distribution member
Lot size: this refers to the number of units a typical customer is allowed to buy by a marketing
channel in a particular buying occasion. When the lot number is small, then grater output service
should be provided by the channel (Kotler, 2000). In our case above, if the compact disc player
manufacturer selects a channel member that offers small number of CD players to buying
customers, this means increased costs for the manufacturer, and an alternative channel member
should be sought.
Waiting time and delivery time: this refers to the length of time that the customer waits, for the
receipt of goods. Customers always prefer delivery

Arab Americans Essay
Like other ethnic minority groups in America, Arab Americans face daily challenges in their
overall development and well being. These challenges take the form of discrimination,
stereotyping, and general negative reactions to them as an ethnic group. Arabs, Arab Americans,
and Muslims are often stereotyped in movies as sheiks, barbarians, or terrorist. As many Muslim
Americans are visibly culturally distinct, it would be of value to explore whether attitudes of non
Muslims toward Muslim Americans resemble attitudes expressed by European non Muslims
toward members of these minority groups. Biases The cultural bias in reporting is prevalent in
major US media outlets. For example, on 1 October US news station, NBC reported that three US
soldiers and several Afghans were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan. Viewers were

American counselors often do not have an understanding of Arab culture which goes beyond the
stereotyping in the popular media. There may be more acceptances to holistic approaches that
incorporate family and religious or social community. The counselor needs to be open exploring
spiritual beliefs, and the use of prayer, or fasting to reduce stress. Cognitive behavioral strategies
might be productive. Intervention needs to be sensitive and culturally relevant such as generation
in the USA, social class, the environment the client lives/grew up in. Because of the role of fate in
the teachings of Islam, Arab Americans are thought to be survival oriented rather than insight
oriented. Some authors suggest that therapies focused on insight tend to be ineffective and
counterproductive with this population and can be highly anxiety provoking because of the
conflicts between individual versus collective forces (Al Abdul Jabbar Al Issa, 2000). Arab
Americans should be given the opportunity to meet with a same sex counselor (Eric,

Columbine Shooting Theories
On April 20, 1999, there was a school shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
The Columbine shooting was once known as the largest high school massacre in US history. This
unfortunate event affected the way American schools now take precautions and impacted society.
The columbine shooters were two students, Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17. There are
many theories as to why they did their actions, but none of them have been proven correct. One
theory is that both Dylan and Eric were influenced by bullies. They believed that since they only
chose jocks, christians, and minorities, it meant something. Another theory is that they were apart
of a group called the Trenchcoat Mafia. Lastly, many believed that Eric and Dylan

The Importance Of A Building In The House
The Court will most likely find that the parking lot the Defendant entered is a structure that is
attached to the building and therefore guilty of first degree burglary because the word building
includes any appurtenant or connected structure. Whoever enters a building without consent . . .
and commits a crimewhile in the building, . . . commits burglary in the first degree . . .. Minn. Stat.
В§ 609.582, (2007). A building means a structure suitable for affording shelter for human beings,
including any appurtenant or connected structure. Minn. Stat. В§ 609.581, (2007).A building is
anything intentionally built from component parts that is suitable for affording shelter to humans.

Id. at 2. In Dawson, the defendant entered a common hallway, elevator, and parking garage
before breaking into several cars and stealing the property therein. Id. at 1. The court reasoned
that the entry of any part of the apartment was sufficient to establish entry into the building
because the hallway, elevator, and parking garage are appurtenant structures of the apartments.
Id. at 2. In Lopez, the defendant entered a hotel room that was found to be a building because the
room was intentionally comprised from walls, ceilings, and a door that provided suitable shelter.
The case at bar is similar to Lopez, because here, the Defendant entered a parking lot that was
intentionally constructed from component parts of a covered walkway, a fence, and entry doors.
Each component contributes to the overall building because the closure from the parking lot
fence was designed to wall out trespassers; the covered walkways provide an overhead shelter
from the elements in the same manner as a ceiling; and entry doors allow access for apartment
residents. All of which, comprise component parts of a building for the express purpose of
affording suitable shelter to humans. In Walker, a dairy farmer built an attached structure to his
barn that was somewhat exposed to the elements. The structure was considered a building because
it was a structure connected to the barn that was suitable for sheltering the farmer from the
elements while he did his daily chores. The case at

Essay on Personal Narrative- My Love of Reading and Writing
Personal Narrative My Love of Reading and Writing
Reading and writing has always played a vital part in my life. From toddler to adult, pre elementary
to college, I ve managed to sharpen both skills to my liking. However, even though it significantly
helped, schooling was not what influenced me to continue developing those skills into talent. Many
different things shaped and influenced my learning, and now reading and writing have become
the safety net of my life. I know that even if I have nothing else in the future, I ll still have my
talent and knowledge. To ensure my success, I hope to further develop those skills so that I may
fulfill my wishes. I was always a creative child; it was something I just ... Show more content on

Reading was the new outlet for my imagination and the stories I read fascinated me. They weren
t too unlike the scripts of computer games or the own stories I came up with on my own, but
books actually had the action and emotional aspects written out. And again, while my peers were
reading things about growing up, things that had morals and would teach valuable lessons (I
remember one book about a shoplifter who had to do community service at an animal shelter), I
read real fiction: Jurassic Park, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings... Stuff of fantasy and
science fiction that let my mind stray from reality. Stuff that kept my imagination alive while I
was being forced to learn multiplication and the names of countries. Of course, my teachers
encouraged me to keep reading, as long as I wasn t doing the reading in the middle of their
lectures. But it wasn t because of their influence, however, that kept me interested in books. It
was because I loved it. It put pictures into my head and made me think. So I kept reading. But
even then I knew reading wasn t enough... Yes, the stories were fascinating, but they weren t what
I wanted. Back then I wasn t sure what I wanted, but as middle school came to a close, I found it.
All eighth graders had to take a career class to determine what we wanted to be when we grew up.
I remember telling my teacher that I wanted to be an archaeologist and the strange look she

This concern comes with the many warnings that Laertes gives to Ophelia. Among these warnings include her heart and chaste treasure open . This concern that Laertes has for Ophelia goes beyond the norm by also going into the sexual life of Ophelia. There seems to be a strong relationship and a sense of connection between Laertes and Ophelia in order to openly talk about this topic with her. He also tries to give this information before leaving for France. This means that protecting Ophelia is one of his priorities. This sense of loyalty towards his family, especially his sister is what drives him to discuss and try to warn her. The devotion towards his family can be seen by the way Laertes tries his best to warn Ophelia before leaving and even though it might be the hard truth. There is a sense of responsibility for Laertes to warn Ophelia about the dangers that her actions can have to her honor. Laertes concern for honor results from his loyalty to his family and it actually strengthens that sense of responsibility that Laertes feels he has to protect the honor of his family. This unconditional love for his family results in Laertes revealing the strong senses of devotion that he has towards his family. The strength of the unconditional love is so big, that his valueof family can be used against Laertes. She loves her family, even though she is all too aware of husband s faults and her sons characters. She provides a sharp contrast to the seamy underbelly of the world of sex, symbolized by the Woman and the prostitutes. They operate in the real world as part of the impersonal forces that corrupt. (Florio 35 36) If Willy is not totally unsympathetic (and he is not), much of the goodness in him is demonstrated in his devotion to his wife, according to his lights. Though he is often masterful and curt, he is still deeply concerned about her: I was fired, and I m looking for a little good news to tell your mother, because the woman has waited and the woman has suffered. Biff is attached to his mother, and Happy s hopelessness is most graphic in his failure to be honest with, or concerned about, his family. The family s devotion to one another, even though misguided, represents a recognizable American ideal. Linda, for all her warmth and goodness, goes along with her husband and sons in the best success manual tradition. She tries to protect them from the forces outside and fails. The memory of her suffering and her fidelity does not keep Willy and Happy from sex or Biff from wandering. Miller s irony goes still deeper. Gun control laws need to be a lot more strict because the U.S. alone loses over 30,000 people a year due to gun related deaths. That s over 87 people going down every day (Watkins). People are against strict gunlaws, all they want is a weaponto protect themselves from other people with guns. If the laws are more strict though, you wouldn t needthe gun because there would be no guns allowed (Harrison). Gun laws need to be more strict so less gun related crimes happen, people are safe, and it makes it a lot harder for people to get guns. The United States of America needs a lot tougher gun laws because we have the most weapons in the whole world and that shows that people could be doing the wrong things for the wrong reason (Everitt and Pratt). Evolution Of A Large Mammal s Life Cycles Fossils are considered to be evolutionary markers that records a lineages of creatures across time providing a distinct way to compare different species. When Darwin set forth on a journey to the Galapagos Islands, he discovered many aspects of evolution. During his expedition, he discovered the fossils of creatures which closely resembled the modern armadillos. At that time, Darwin did not possess any tools or resources to predict the phylogenetic lineages and the evolutionary history of the armadillos. However, using modern day science and techniques like DNAand protein sequencing, it is now possible to better understand the relationships between different organisms. Furthermore, by observing the early developmental (embryonic) stages of a large mammals life cycles it is possible to indicate the relationship of the mammals with other mammals6. The combination of these methods may lead us to determine the phylogenetic position of armadillos Dasypodidae and other related organisms, such as anteaters and sloths. Armadillos evolutionary history has been a subject of many controversies and has been revised multiple times. Nevertheless, new developments in sequencing have allowed us to better understand the evolutionary relations using the DNA and proteins found in the fossils. These abuses included the Boston Massacre of 1770, in which the British Army opened fire on colonists protesting the use of the army to enforce civilian laws (Doherty, 2016). Additionally, PPUs may serve an important morale boosting purpose for police forces, setting a high standard for competence and ability and creating a goal to which line officers may aspire (Breede, 2008). McAndrews Forbes: Less than a year later, the Delaware Supreme Court circumscribed directors freedom of action by holding in this case that, once a sale is in progress, the director s duty switches from protection or maintenance of the corporate enterprise to obtaining the highest price for the benefit of the shareholders. In other words, once directors understand that the takeover will be successful, their duty is simply to obtain the best price for the shareholders. The infamous Richard Burton comes from a similar cultural background to the aforementioned Edward Lane, but his translation of A Thousand and One Arabian Nights is perhaps the most explicit English translation to date. This is not because of radically different cultural values, but simply based upon the intent of the translators. Burton s intent is also visible in his means of publication. British conservatism was at its height during the time in which Burton was publishing his translation, making it so he had to publish said translation privately in order to avoid violating laws such as the Obscene Publications Act. As one can see via his blatant violation of the law, as well as Burton s general demeanor, cultural values played an extraordinarily small role in the maturity level of his ... • 43. Early Medieval Architecture Early Medieval structures are typically built from a combination of stone and timber called half timbered buildings (anything built earlier than the 11th century) and later built with just stone. They were built with a secure base, easily defended because of the thick high walls, and secure entry gates to protect from frontal attacks. Some even included keeps, turrets with small, high windows (which provided protection for archers), and a moat or trench of water to deter invaders. These buildings were also strategically placed next to bodies of water or mountains to monitor and control access and resources in case of a siege. This building style was mostly militaristic and less extravagant because the people in this period from 500 to 1000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both forts were placed upon a hill type structure to raise it up and protect it from siege except the Castillo s was called a glacis. They both had a form of structure to help protect soldiers within it crenelations in the Windor castle and ravelins in the Castillo. The only differences between the two were the shapes of the structures the Castillo being made into the shape of a star and the Windsor castle made into more of a circular type structure around the town, what type of stone they were made with regular stone vs. Coquina, and how they were built, the Bastion system vs. motte and bailey castle building, due to varying locations and advances in militaristic building technology. There were more weapons on the Castillo and they were less about protecting the people and more about protecting the gold. And ultimately the building of the Castillo was more advanced because they had the time and greater wealth to develop something of a greater stature than the fort and it wasn t just made for protection of the people but more so for the protection of their assets. But without the engineering feats of the Windsor Castle the Castillo may never have been built because it was a result of years and years of militaristic advances in building technology. • 44. Dealing with the Death of a Family Member The death of a family member can greatly affect the family system as it creates a void that is difficult to adjust to. The family experiences a terrible sense of loss, as well as a fear that they have to carry on with their lives without their loved one (Rotter, 2000). They have a hard time picturing there knew life and moving on without them. With the familysystem changing it may destroy the relationships that already exists in the family (Bowlby West, 1983). After the death of a family member the most difficult time for the family would be the anniversaries. These anniversaries include the anniversary of the day that the family member died, their birthday as well as special holidays. These dates are stressful for the family and will be a reminder of the death (Bowlby West, 1983). The griefprocess that the family system will go through after the death of a family member may last a long time, especially as they go through the different anniversary s. Non normative events, such as a child s death by suicide, and accidental death may also make the grief process more difficult (Rotter, 2000). According to Bowlby (1979) and Parkes (1972) there are four stages of grief that people will go through during the grief period after the death of a family member (Bowlby West, 1983). The first phase is a phase of numbness that lasts from a few hours to a week. They may experience anger and distress as well. They would find it difficult to cope with tasks because they are preoccupied ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marketing Channels Running head: DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS Distribution Channels and Their Impact on Marketing Strategies Name: Institution: DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS Abstract This paper discusses the importance of choosing appropriate channel members and also identifies and discusses criteria that should be used by the car compact disc player manufacturer when evaluating potential intermediaries for the firm s distribution channel. This is important for this firm since it s only through these marketing channels that their product is going to reach the consumer. The customer in this case is the auto makers who are intended to buy the newly developed compact disc player to fix them in the automobiles. The method for marketing this product is therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bert (1998) explains that the best channel that any manufacturer should prioritize on is one that makes the end product user happiest, so that they are always willing to buy again the same product from the same channel member. So it s up to the manufacturer to select a marketing channel that best serves the interests of the customer. There are various criteria that are used by the manufacturers to evaluate potential intermediaries for firm s distribution channel. Among this criteria include 1.Lot size 2.Waiting time DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL 3.Spatial convenience 4.Product variety 5.Service backup I will discuss each of the above criteria which should be used by the compact disc manufacturer to evaluate for an appropriate distribution member Lot size: this refers to the number of units a typical customer is allowed to buy by a marketing channel in a particular buying occasion. When the lot number is small, then grater output service should be provided by the channel (Kotler, 2000). In our case above, if the compact disc player manufacturer selects a channel member that offers small number of CD players to buying customers, this means increased costs for the manufacturer, and an alternative channel member should be sought. Waiting time and delivery time: this refers to the length of time that the customer waits, for the receipt of goods. Customers always prefer delivery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Arab Americans Essay Like other ethnic minority groups in America, Arab Americans face daily challenges in their overall development and well being. These challenges take the form of discrimination, stereotyping, and general negative reactions to them as an ethnic group. Arabs, Arab Americans, and Muslims are often stereotyped in movies as sheiks, barbarians, or terrorist. As many Muslim Americans are visibly culturally distinct, it would be of value to explore whether attitudes of non Muslims toward Muslim Americans resemble attitudes expressed by European non Muslims toward members of these minority groups. Biases The cultural bias in reporting is prevalent in major US media outlets. For example, on 1 October US news station, NBC reported that three US soldiers and several Afghans were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan. Viewers were ... There may be more acceptances to holistic approaches that incorporate family and religious or social community. The counselor needs to be open exploring spiritual beliefs, and the use of prayer, or fasting to reduce stress. Cognitive behavioral strategies might be productive. Intervention needs to be sensitive and culturally relevant such as generation in the USA, social class, the environment the client lives/grew up in. Because of the role of fate in the teachings of Islam, Arab Americans are thought to be survival oriented rather than insight oriented. Some authors suggest that therapies focused on insight tend to be ineffective and counterproductive with this population and can be highly anxiety provoking because of the conflicts between individual versus collective forces (Al Abdul Jabbar Al Issa, 2000). Arab Americans should be given the opportunity to meet with a same sex counselor (Eric, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Columbine Shooting Theories On April 20, 1999, there was a school shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. The Columbine shooting was once known as the largest high school massacre in US history. This unfortunate event affected the way American schools now take precautions and impacted society. The columbine shooters were two students, Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17. There are many theories as to why they did their actions, but none of them have been proven correct. One theory is that both Dylan and Eric were influenced by bullies. They believed that since they only chose jocks, christians, and minorities, it meant something. Another theory is that they were apart of a group called the Trenchcoat Mafia. Lastly, many believed that Eric and Dylan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Id. at 2. In Lopez, the defendant entered a hotel room that was found to be a building because the room was intentionally comprised from walls, ceilings, and a door that provided suitable shelter. The case at bar is similar to Lopez, because here, the Defendant entered a parking lot that was intentionally constructed from component parts of a covered walkway, a fence, and entry doors. Each component contributes to the overall building because the closure from the parking lot fence was designed to wall out trespassers; the covered walkways provide an overhead shelter from the elements in the same manner as a ceiling; and entry doors allow access for apartment residents. All of which, comprise component parts of a building for the express purpose of affording suitable shelter to humans. In Walker, a dairy farmer built an attached structure to his barn that was somewhat exposed to the elements. The structure was considered a building because it was a structure connected to the barn that was suitable for sheltering the farmer from the elements while he did his daily chores. The case at ... They weren t too unlike the scripts of computer games or the own stories I came up with on my own, but books actually had the action and emotional aspects written out.
