Investing Stocks and Bonds
Investing in Stocks and Bonds Stocks and Bonds are different in many ways. A stock is a
portion or share of the ownership of a corporation. A share will give the owner of the stock the
company s profits or loses over time. The good thing about stocks is they can be sold at almost
any time as long as there is someone willing to buy. A bond, on the other hand, is a fixed interest
financial asset issued by governments, companies, banks, and other large entities. Bonds also are
called funds. Bonds pay the owner a fixed amount a specific date, or on specified dates
depending on the type of bond. If the bond is a discount bond, then there is one pay date at the
end. If the bond is a coupon bond, then it pays a fixed amount over a... Show more content on

I tried Chevron Corporation because they seemed reliable compared to other oil and gas
companies (Chevron). Chevron Corporation has been known to strive beyond expectations, and
care for the safety of the workforce and environment (Chevron). Chevron products are recognized
for their quality, performance, and technology around the world (Chevron). I decided to be on the
safe side and only invest 1,000 dollars in Chevron Corporation because of the risk factor that
comes into play with the oil and gas industry. Chevron Corporation actually did well after all. The
share prices were high to start with. Chevron Corporation had one stock split within the ten years.
In September of 2004, the 2:1 split helped my number of shares go from about 48 shares to
around 97 shares total. In the end I owned a total of approximately 180 shares. These shares sold
for a big $105.38 each. This nearly doubled the 10,000 dollars. The total after the ten years in
Chevron Corporation was $18,982.67. The one mutual fund I invested in was with PIMCO. This
global investment authority offers many different bonds such as: absolute return bonds, asset
allocations, convertibles, municipal bonds, core bonds, etc. (PIMCO). The bond I chose was a
core bond. This bond was the PIMCO Total Return Fund. This particular fund focuses on a solid
core fixed income (PIMCO). The fund will typically invest in a diversified portfolio of

Imagery In Shawshank Redemption
In Shawshank Redemption, a lot is revealed about the characters quickly. Through Red s
narration names, occupations and personal details are revealed. In the novel the road it s
completely different they try not to reveal anything to keep it mysterious by only using a brief
description of the setting. So through the dialogue, Daramont is able to describe the characters
well and as it is a film, the visual element is there to further create imagery. In The road,
McCarthy would have to depend purely upon words to get the intended visualisation but due to the
lack of description, the visualisation is very broad and can be different for different people . In
Shawshank Redemption, you can clearly see the characterisation of Andy and Red which

Epidemiological Studies Essay
One of the most useful outcomes of studying epidemiology is learning how to evaluate critically
the scientific literature (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). Critical assessment of this literature is an
important skill for public health professionals because the findings of epidemiologic research
inform so many activities (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). Munnoch et al. (2008) done epidemiological
studies on S.Saintpaul infection occurred in Australia during October 2006 and found that
cantaloupe production and processing practices pose a potential public health threat requiring
regulatory and community education interventions. Based on main journal article written upon this
subject, this article will analyse how epidemiological research has helped us... Show more content

According to Munnoch et al.2008 the objective of study was cleared that consumption of
cantaloupe was directly linked to the infection and hypothesis study done was relevant because it
states that cantaloupe was consumed more frequently by cases than expected when compared with
the food consumption data for controls from an Australian Campylobacter case control study. So
study identified a strong epidemiological association between S.Saintapaul infection and
consumption of cantaloupe, with cases being 23 times more likely to have consumed cantaloupe
in the 4 days prior to onset of illness than controls. As there were so many people involved in the
research so study done was observational study, as no action was taken to change the health
outcome people were simply observed (Webb Bain, 2011). The study design used to measure in
terms of hypothesis generation method and observational study was useful.
STUDY PARAMETERS
Research exposure
Observational study design examined on the basis of exposure and health outcome. The exposure
of interest is the factor that either causes, Prevents, or treats the outcome. It is important to consider
whether the exposure was accurately defined and measured because exposure misclassification
stems from broad definitions and inaccurate measurements. (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). According
to Munnoch et al. (2008), study conducted to investigate the S.Saintapaul infection

Orcs And The Hobbit Analysis
Not only was how the Ents reacted to the Orcs and the Hobbits important for how international
relations should deal with problems, but Merry and Pippin altered a normal conception within
this scene, which is to treat your elders with respect. The Ents within this scene are portrayed as
a wise elder that you obey and respect. Merry confronts the Ents decision on not to fight and then
still manipulates them into destroying Isengard. Why is it engraved in our heads to follow
tradition and listen to the wise? Just because they may be more experience, or think they are more
experienced does not mean to follow how they solved their situations. Over time, the world
changes. In the 1940 s, World War II was going on and how our grandparents lived is

Gender Conformity And Expectations Through Time
Orlando by Virginia Woolf addresses the issues of gender conformity and expectations through
time; in this case, three centuries during the Elizabethan Era in the area around Europe. The main
character, Orlando, experiences a gender change during his lifetime to become a female and that
drastically modifies the way that she lives. Through the motif of Orlando s genderchange and
androgyny, Orlando experiences both life and love, which is not common for men and women
regardless of the time period. Orlando began life as a young boy, living in a house in the country
before being taken into the city by the Queen. As a child, he encourages himself to chase
masculine pursuits in life, as his father and other ancestors do before him. Despite the
encouragement of masculine activities as his family is known for, during his isolation, he
decides instead as an adult that they and their deeds [are] dust and ashes (Woolf, 81) and that he
would like to live life the way that he wants to, as a poet searching for love. Even as a man,
Orlando has the power and authority to live his life how he wishes, but he always craves love. A
poet at heart, Orlando has many loves, such as the girls in his sonnets, and he always writes about
them in the way he finds best. He claims Love [has] meant nothing to him but sawdust and cinders
(40) and he cannot find the love he is always searching for. Without love in his life, Orlando reaches
out to experience new things and thus... this Nobleman [has]...

What Is The History Of Classical Music During The Baroque...
The Baroque Period lasted from 1600 to 1750. This period is where studies of classical music
began. During this time period, artists would make their music as intricate as possible to make
it sound as elegant as possible. This was a great time for royalty and nobility. The wealthiest
households would hire musicians, but depending on the household they might would have an
entire orchestra. The households would hire composers to compose songs for parties, balls, and
ceremonies. The church would also hire musicians, because of the general public s love for
music. (Craig) Oratorios were started in the Baroque Period. Oratorios are sung, much like
operas, except for they were about biblical stories. The only main difference is that oratorios are
unstaged performances. Oratorios were usually long performances, lasting for several hours.
Churches would normally have them for the public. Churches would also have Cantatas. Cantatas
were basically the same thing as operas, but they were much shorter. They were usually as long as
a church service. (Craig) Instrumental music was still well loved during the Baroque Period.
Instrumental music was used for formal dances, like balls and parties. Suites were also played;
suites were made of different dance movements. The dance types are allemande, bourree, courante,
gavotte, gigue, minuet, sarabande, and waltz. The music would normally have a constant beat and
was often quite repetitive. (Craig) Vivaldi was a Baroque composer, often known

Free will vs. Determinism
Free will vs. determinism is an argument as complex, intertwined, and co dependent as nature vs.
nurture or the age old question of whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first.
Philosophers have contemplated the question for ages, and arrived at no satisfactory answer.
While considering which topic to address for this assignment, I posed the question of free will vs.
determinism to a philosopher friend, whose response was I don t care. He feels that the question is
not worth asking because it will not impact our actions anyway. Which ultimately makes him
somewhat of a determinist I suppose, though I m sure he would disapprove of being classified as
such.
In the end, I settled on the topic of free will vs. determinism ... Show more content on

Perhaps this is true, but it seems quite unsatisfying.
Determinism, on the other hand, does offer consolation in times of disappointment. You didn t get
the job you wanted? Unrequited love? Disfigured for life by a random act of violence? Something
better will come along. The Universe has a different plan for you. It was God s will. In the end
though, these platitudes are no more satisfying than the idea that we are completely free.
If everything we do is predetermined, then where is the incentive to reflect on ones actions,
learn from mistakes, or take initiative? What difference will it make if we prepare well for the
interview if we are the right fit for the organization, we ll get the job. Our soul mate, if it is our
destiny to have one, will find us. It is in God s plan that Dr. Phil s sister in law is disfigured for
life, and it is not our place to question His will.
If our behavior is determined by a compilation of preexisting circumstances beginning with birth, as
Skinner (text, pg. 153) and Freud (text, pg. 158) argue, then nothing we do can change the outcome
of a situation, and our behavior in any given situation is a product of every situation we have found
ourselves in previously.
Determinism is certainly comforting, especially when one does not want to take responsibility

Anne Tyler s classic novel, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant
In Anne Tyler s classic novel, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, the reader experiences a
variety of conflicts between parent and child, one of the most apparent being that between Pearl
Tull and her eldest son, Cody. These two characters never seem to see eye to eye, as Pearl
prefers to see only the negative aspects of her children. Cody never truly relates to Pearl and her
manic ways. As the conflict unfolds between Pearl and Cody, the deeper meaning of the story is
revealed; there is never a perfect family, but nonetheless, theirs is a family.
As the first child, Cody is expected to excel and be the ideal son. He establishes a rebellious

The reader wonders why Ezra, the second child, is superior to Cody.
Pearl s unabashed affection for Ezra results in Cody s delinquency and self imposed removal from
his family.
Cody never liked going home to visit his mother, even though she seemed to encourage him to
do so. In this aspect, the title carries heavy significance, homesick is actually translated to being
sick of home. Simply, this is how Cody feels, he can t stand to be at home, or near his mother. In
addition to physical and emotional pain, the reader can sense apathy from Cody towards his
mother whenever he has to encounter her. It s nothing to me what she thinks. ... You don t know
what she s like. You don t know what it was like growing up with her. Here, Cody expresses the
emotional scars the continuing conflict with his mother has left in him. The one time Cody tries
to reach out to his mother and be kind to her by buying her tickets to visit her old time friend,
Pearl completely disregards his effort because she didn t want to miss Ezra s birthday. This has a
lasting impact on
Cody s attitude, both towards his brother, who he already had envy of, and his mother. At that time,
he began to dislike her more than ever.
This conflict displayed the permanent emotional damage created in

5 Places Research Paper
When I was younger I started to really look into traveling. I started watching videos of amazing
places all over the world. I watched videos of places like Madrid, Spain, Switzerland, The
Netherlands, Bangkok, Thailand, and Rome, Italy. I started to voice my opinions to my family
and they really supported me. Now, I have a Bucket List of the places I would list to go, and I
can t wait to travel to those 5 places. I once watched a video of a restaurant in Switzerland and I
started to become interested. The video was about how they put cheese on everything. It looked
absolutely amazing and I just wanted to learn more. I then saw another video of the view of a
city in Switzerland and I was hooked. It was one of the most beautiful sceneries I have ever seen.

want to walk down the streets of Amsterdam and take touristy pictures and just live up the

my attention when I saw a video of the street food in their markets. The video showed how busy
the market was, and how long the lines for some of the vendors were. The foods varied from
fried squid, to different types of ice cream. I also saw some pictures overlooking the city and it

Patience In Disney World
It takes great patience and love in order to make the kind of progress that benefits everyone.
(Mashos) Patience is a needed characteristic in today s society. An example of patience would be
my trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that
we would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month
and a half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally
the day came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, Everyone wake up! It s Disney day, it s Disney
day! We packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not,
and then we drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport
we proceeded to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready
to board. On the plane we flew for 3 hours and landed in Orlando, Florida, which is a relatively
short drive from Disney World itself. My family and I were... Show more content on

sights and the hundreds if not thousands of people we saw. We had no idea what patience was
until we actually attempted to ride some of those rides. There was a jungle safari ride in which
we could go on a boat on a man made river and hear a story and see some wildlife. We were
weaving back and forth through rope barriers listening to the conversations of people around us as
we dutifully awaited our turn, like soldiers preparing for battle. Meanwhile the actual ride was
maybe ten to fifteen minutes long. The wait was excruciating, but after we got on the ride, we saw

Elements Of Romantic Literature
The main aspects of Romantic literature focus on emotions and the narrator s inner world,
celebrating nature, beauty and most importantly imagination. This literary era rejects everything
that has to do with rationalism, religion or industrialization, which were very important in the
1800s, however, not liked much by literary figures. Many poems which were written after the late
1700s reflect on the elements of romanticism. The experimental language and the interest in nature,
spiritual elements and free mind shows through. Romanticism was not only a style in literature, but
a genre and a movement which was a foundation of our modern world.
The word romantic means something different in nowadays than it used to mean in the Romantic
era. It comes from the word Roman and it could be traced back to latin which later on was the base
of Italian, French and Spanish, thus the Romantic languages. The writers of the Romantic period
reflected on the Classical periods and were characterized by emotions and intense imagines. The
new era which brought the industrial revolution and a new, modern society was not what people
had hoped for. This confusing, complicated time made authors and artists think about how could
they create something extraordinary. However, not all authors from this period considered to be
romantic. Susan Wolfson s and Peter Manning s introductory essay The Romantics and their
Contemporaries not only focuses on the poets and authors who have indulged in

Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization...
Zachary Golden
Final Paper Outline
Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program
within an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four
key areas that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing
career development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well
planned job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also
increases the overall job satisfaction of employees.
Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person
is developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the
entire operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a
company s processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying
work to provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is
closely linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal
is to provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume
a higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management
in a business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job
rotation involves the

Diels Alder Reaction
The Diels Alder Reaction is an addition reaction between a 1,3 diene and a dienophile. In this
reaction, furan, the diene, reacted with maleic anhydride, the dienophile, to form exo 7

the melting point, 1H NMR and 12C NMR Spectroscopywas obtained. This Diels Alder Reaction

In more detail, the Diels Alder reaction is the reaction in which the dienophile adds to the

The Unification of Germany Essay
The Unification of Germany
Bismarck
Otto von Bismarck achieved the unification of the disjointed German states through the skillful
understanding of realpolitikand the Machiavellian use of war as a political tool to eliminate
Germany s rival nations, gain the support of the German people and gain territory. This ultimately
created a German legacy of strong militaristic tendencies, scheming national relations, and economic
clout challenging the European heavyweights like England and France. Bismarck s plan for
unification began with his instigation of war with the small German states of Schleswig and
Holstein over an insignificant dispute concerning the governing of the states. Bismarck s ... Show

Using the tools of realpolitik, Bismarck negotiated a settlement of uneasy peace with the division,
which would help to provoke the next war in his course towards unification. Bismarck had also
expanded the influence of the German Confederation with this move as well as gained an important
access to the sea. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn
t be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to
his militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his
militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war.
Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was
more involved. With the two states defeated, Bismarck fought to see them divided between Prussia
and Austria ensuring tensions between the two. The final arrangement was as abrasive as possible,
and the Seven Weeks War, between Prussia and Austria soon followed because of this outcome.
Bismarck entered this war with a unique goal for its conclusion as his main goal was not to
instigate a conflict to defeat an enemy, but to merely assert the sovereignty of the German states.
He kept this goal in mind when conducting the war, and he avoided creating a humiliating defeat

Persuasive Speech To Join The Military
Specific purpose: to persuade my audience (females) to join the military
Thesis Statement: A few females are joining the military, and those taking leadership roles is even
small, caused by existence of limited information about the Army and less combat roles, and this
can be addressed by lifting ban on women on combat and creating more combat support jobs.
1.Introduction
a). Major General Marcia Anderson is a celebrated woman for having beat the odds to claim a top
leadership position in the Army. She joined the army since she needed a science credit while
studying at Creighton University.
b) Joining the Army was not her dream. Anderson took on the militaryas a career because she
wanted to change the misconceptions about women taking up leadership roles (McGregor).

a). I will discuss some of the reasons why less women join the Army. Currently, females make up
15.7 percent of the U.S. Army. Approximately 16% of the officer corps and 7% of top generals
and admirals in the Armed forces are women (McGregor). The statistics show women still make
up a small percentage out of the total number of military officers in the Army. Few females thus
join the Army. Many females decide to enter the Army mostly for personal reasons ranging from
to avoid economic difficulties. Some join because the Army is the only viable job and that they
have looked for jobs but have not found any. Others join out of a sense of honor, duty and even
patriotism. They want to serve their country in the various capacities. While another group enters,
the Army to receive education benefits, to gain job skills and to see more of the world among

they join the Army, they work towards protecting the country and its citizens. No one cares what
their reasons were as long as they prove their

Marriage and Weddings
When you are a little girl, you are bought baby dolls, a Barbie dressed in white, a Ken in a

As a child, nearly every little girl is told You are going to grow up, graduate high school, have a
great big wedding and have babies. It is something we that are taught to look forward to and to
aspire for from age five, but does it really make us happy? The average wedding in the United

Waiting to get married also has a lot of personal benefits. When you get married, you have
another person, and possible people, tied to you. You can t just up and move to benefit your
career if you have a spouse, kids, and a large extended family that expects to see you every
Christmas. People who marry later in life tend to be more successful in their line of work, as
they can make more sacrifices for their job. Being more successful in your career usually means
more money as well, which is a benefit. The money that you earn only needs to feed and clothe
one person, and the rest can go into savings and investments, which will without doubt be helpful
at a later date. Of course, I m not saying Don t get married! I am trying to say that traditional
marriage is not always the way to go. There are many different options and there is surely one for
every person and couple.
A couple with little money shouldn t feel the need to spend thirty thousand dollars on an
extravagant wedding when they would be equally as happy, and better off financially, with a small
group of close friends and family at a courthouse. Just as a couple who has been together thirty
years should not feel the need to sign official documents if that s not what they want, either. Maybe

in the book truly shines light on one of the most important drinks since the beginning of humanity.
Beer was one of the first drinks that was made in such a way that it was always safe to drink and
not only that but it also gave the mesopotamians their true identity and culture. Along with
providing a safe method for consuming liquid beergave way to the early migrations, farming, and
the development of river valley societies.

Tea was such an immense resource in Europe that even mere peasants were able to afford at least
two glasses of the decadent drink. In the long run, the empire was able to use its enormous
economic power that it gained from the British East India Company to take control of the global
tea market. And in conjunction with the West Indies the British were able to buy tea and sugar
from both ends of the world and still have a cheaper drink than beer.
The quote above refers to the great power of the British region and its great might to achieve
anything that it wishes from new technology to the complete takeover of countries such as India
and America. The British global superpower considered tea as part of its culture as it was
considered the favorite drink by many Britain s including soldiers who were also given tea when

C. S. Lewis On Politics
When I wandered over to the Wade Center on October 24th, I had very little idea of what I was

During the plagues, Christians were the ones to stay back and help the sick, putting aside their

fundamental difference between us and the world is that we don t ask the question, Is it safe?

Baldassare Castiglione, And Giovanni Pico Delia Mirandola
The Renaissance and Literature During the Italian Renaissance, many people began a new way of
thinking and with this new way of thinking, came literature. With these passages or books
characteristics of humanism, individualism, feudalism, and the interest in antiquity became clear.
The writings of Francesco Petrarch, Baldassare Castiglione , and Giovanni Pico delia Mirandola
all give insight to the beginnings of these ideas. Francesco Petrarch is a perfect example of a new
found fascination of antiquity through humanist teachings. In a passage from one of his literary
pieces, Petrarch scorns educators stating, There has arisen of late a set of dialecticians, who are not

weapon well on foot and on horse...and especially to be familiar with those weapons that are
ordinarily used among gentlemen... In this quote Castiglione is explaining how strong a man
should be if he were the ideal Courtier, completely focusing on the importance of a human. As
the book progresses, Castiglione mentions that a Courtier, ...be also a musician and unless,
besides understanding and being able to read notes, he can play upon diverse instruments, as
well as knowing how to play tennis extraordinarily well and, ...that he does not seek or expect
praise for it, nor let him seem to devote much care or time to it, although he may do it admirably...

Strong Feelings in Macbeth and the Old Nurse s Story Essay
By examining The Old Nurse s Story and Macbeth , in detail, compare and contrast how Elizabeth
Gaskell and Shakespeare explore strong feelings in these two texts.
Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and
it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I.
Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this
was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth
s most powerful emotions. The play also reflects a widespread fascination with witchcraft and
Shakespeare exploits this interest for dramatic effect. In 1597, James I published his own book ...

Grace (later Miss. Furnivall). She was a beauty with a proud, set look, and such scorn looking
out of her handsome eyes as well as eyebrows that were just a little raised and a curled lip. Miss.
Grace is wearing posh clothes in the portrait, which shows that she is upper class, but even this
artificial beauty doesn t mask her malevolence. This shows that appearances are deceptive, but a
person s true colours are always revealed, no matter how hard they try to hide them.
The impression that we are given in the opening scene of Macbeth is that the actions of only a
few people will deal with the fate of the whole kingdom. This is hinted at when the witches speak
of a battle being lost and won , as the word battle usually refers to a conflict on a large scale, which
suggests that numerous people in the kingdom could be affected. This battle could tie in to the
strong feelings of guilt, ambition and determination on many levels. The battle could be a spiritual
one between the good (the Thanes) and the evil (the supernatural), or a mental battle in Macbeth s
conscience; all of which could cause the characters to explore their innermost thoughts. Both of
these openings anticipate the release of strong emotions from the protagonists, which are caused by

Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Essay example
Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Tina Modotti was from a very poor working
class society. She was brought up in the northeast part of Italy, in Udine, Friuli. She was born at
the tail end of the industrial revolution, in 1896. However, you could say, by all means, that her
village hadn t changed the slightest since the seventh century. She lived vigorously throughout her
childhood, working endless hours in a silk textile factory to earn a cash flow and to support the
family through starvation. After their father had abandoned them when Tina was twelve and fled

Finally, the texture and even the tone had a great deal of contrast in the photograph. Again, there
is evidence of a extremely rough background and very rugged working class hands. The rough
puppeteer hands represent the government, you could say she uses the rough hands to symbolise
masculinity, power and even toughness. Moreover, the other hand is similar, however, there are
differences. It represents the citizens; it is feeble, strangled in wire and being controlled by the
other hand, the government . To conclude, the textures play a key role in the development of the
idea of power, as well as the contrast in lighting. Tina Modotti grew up in an extremely
marginalised and poor environment. The way the government didn t help her family during their
rough periods and suffocating them in to labour would have been one of the several reasons that
influenced her. Equally important, her personal experiences of constant labour and hunger would
have made her come to the conclusion of disliking the government. In my opinion, the way the
government had no control over her dropping out of school and letting her go into child labour
would have influenced her to produce works that comments on marginalisation in society, the
depression and the repression of working class

Classical Music Comparison
What is classical? Serious or conventional music following long established principles rather than
a folk, jazz, or popular tradition. This is the universally accepted definition of what classical music
is. But what is classical music defined as in my opinion? Well, classical music for myself falls
within the serious category, same as the first definition. A serious composition of musicwithout
vocals. Classicl was also a time period, and that is what I will focus primarily on for the subject
and question at hand, what is classical? Classical musichas had different periods which includes
romantic (1804 1910), but classical itself as a period (1750 1820) was a clear un textured form of
music in comparison to the others. One well known artist that fell under the classical period was

The Financial Crisis Of 2007-08
Several factors lead to the 2008 financial crisis. The 1999 repeal of the Glass Steagall Act
effectively removed the separation between investment banks and depository banks in the United
States. Credit rating agencies failed to price the risk involved with mortgage related financial
products accurately. The Government, concerned with not performing economically as well as the
Clinton administration believed increasing home ownership was the answer and reduced obstacles
(like loan income/debt documentation). The world s insurance companies began insuring mortgage
instruments. Excessive investment leverage, especially in the Banks and venture capitalist
communities. And the Government did not adjust their regulatory practices to address 21st century
financial markets especially in credit default swaps (CDS). These factors set the stage for disaster
and greedy speculators wanting to short the housing market triggered it by systematically exposing
the mortgage risks to the world.
The financial crisis of 2007 08, also known as the Global Financial Crisis, is considered by many
economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Mr.
Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve at the time, believed it was equally problematic in
many ways; although unemployment only reached half the level due to the Fed s actions combined
with a $700B stimulus. It collapsed large financial institutions, and stock markets dropped to half

Solar Energy Advantages And Disadvantages
Solar energy can be use today in a variety of ways. Probably because today, more and more
people are understanding the advantages of solar energy as our solar technology increases and
the cost of fossil fuels rises. Solar energy systems today can now used to power homes, cars,
appliances in a ways of like Photovoltaic panels, Heating water, Lighting etc. Solar Photovoltaic
panels The most common form of solar energy used today are photovoltaic solar panels, which
absorb the sun s light to create electricity. These solar panels can be attached to homes as a
primary or secondary source of electric power. They can also be used for small appliances and
machines which only need small amounts of electricity for use. Large scale photovoltaic panel
plants have also been constructed to provide power to many homes. Solar cels convert sunlight
directly into electricity. Solar cells are often used to power calculators and watches. They are
made of semiconducting materials similar to those used in computer chips. When sunlight is
absorbed by these materials, the solar energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, allows
the electrons to flow through the material to produce electricity. This process of converting light
(photons) to electricity (voltage) is called the photovoltaic(PV)effect. Solar cells are typically
combined into modules that hold about 40 cells; a number of these modules are mounted in PV
arrays that can measure up to several meters on a side. These flat plate PV arrays can be
mounted at a fixed angle facing south, or they can be mounted on a tracking device that follows
the sun, allowing them to capture the most sunlight over the course of a day. Several connected
PV arrays can provide enough power for a household; for large electric utility or industrial
applications, hundreds of arrays can be interconnected to form a single, large PV system. Solar
lighting One of the easiest way to improve home efficiency is to add outdoor solar lighting to your
property. Unlike traditional exterior lights, solar lighting requires no complicated setup as the lights
are wireless and harness sunlight during the day to circumvent the need for grid supplied electricity
at night. Though solar lights are not yet as

The Existence of a God Essay
The Existence of a God
Throughout history, the worship of gods has been a part of daily life even amidst those cultures that
have been considered savage . The reactions, movement, existence, comparisons, purposes, and
common beliefs of the world show that there must be a god. The existence of a god is an irrefutable
fact. Sir Isaac Newton stated that every action has a reaction. Therefore every reaction is formed
from an action which #8364;in and of itself is a reaction to a previous action. If this theory is
followed far enough back, there must be an original action, something that starts all actions, and
causes all reactions. Since nothing can cause its own action, because to do so would mean that it

Once again, by following this path to its origin one will find that something must always have
existed in order for anything further to exist because for something to exist, it will one day
cease to exist and in order for it to cease to exist it must at one point not have existed. Thus it
must have been created since that which does not exist comes into being by something that
exists (Knowledge, 134). And, as we saw in relation to movers and to causes, so we cannot but
postulate the existence of some being having of itself its own existence and not receiving it from
another, but rather causing in others their existence. Thus, one may observe evidence of the
existence of god . Comparisons between things using more or less show that there must be
something to which the thing is being compared. To say that something is better than something
else which is good is to show that one has the extreme resemblance of the most . Thus, there must
be a being that is the most good, something to which everything is compared. As the ultimate
good would likely be found in a perfect being, and it is said that god is perfect , than this
ultimate good must be the supreme being which is known as god . Thus for the comparisons to be
used and found to be truthful, there must be a god. The purposes for which things exist also
provide proof of the existence of god . Everything acts with a purpose

The Lakeside Health Plan
Overview The first 6 months of the Lakeside Health Plan s costs have run above both the prior
year s spend and expected budget. An increase in unforeseen large claimant activity from
dependents is contributing to this overestimated spend. Although this year s plan spend through
the first 6 months is higher than anticipated, the past several years for the Lakeside plan saw
reduced cost and surpluses to budget. For the 2014/2015 plan year, the Lakeside Health Plan
budgeted an $11,879 PEPY cost. The year finished at $11,236 PEPY or $132,236 below budget.
Medical claims were 3.1% below the prior year, and RX spend was a 14.1% increase; changes
were made to the 2015/2016 plan year to counter the increased drug spend. The plan saw large
reductions in large claimant spend due to both stop loss negotiations resulting in the removal of
lasers and DialysisPPO. During the 2013/2014 plan year, the health plan total cost ended almost
25% below the expected budget. Net paid claims were down 7.4% or $447,827 over the budget.
On a PEPY basis, Lakeside had budgeted a $14,995 net cost per employee. The plan year ended
at an $11,301 PEPY cost or $676,350 below the expected total cost. This was largely due to a
large claimant with $250,000 exposure in the form of a laser coming off the plan with only $46k
in claims. Stop loss reimbursements dropped 35%, which helped to secure a 3% total renewal.
Lakeside also heavily invested in the plan, implementing both Healics coaching, increased

King Alfred the Great was born at Wantage, in 849, on a royal manor of his father s holding, a
family estate which long afterward he himself would leave in legacy to his wife. Alfred was the
youngest of five children, four sons and a daughter, born to Ethelwulf by his wife Osburh. When
Alfred was four years old, his father, the king, who by now had long despaired of getting to
Rome in the present state of things, decided to send Alfred there, to at least receive the blessing
of the Holy Father. The pope at the time, Leo the IV, gave Alfred the blessing to become king.

However, Alfred was not content with being on the defensive. He also attacked the Danish held
City of London in an attempt to diminish the lands ruled under Dane law (Bruce 4). No Anglo
Saxon king was ever strong enough to coerce a recalcitrant peasantry. Except Alfred who
decided to allow half the men liable for service to remain at home while the other half was out
against the Danes (Stenton 261). In order for Alfred to keep peace and defeat the Danes, he had to
win many major battles. On Easter Sunday 878, when King Alfred withdrew into the Isle of
Athelney, there was every likelihood that before the end of the year Wessexwould have been
divided out among the members of the Danish army. King Alfred made sure that Wessex would
escape that fate. Although Alfred did lose a major battle against the Danes only four years ago,
he overcame them in 878 when he won the Battle of Edington. Alfred showed strong resistance
by constantly engaging Danish raiding parties from his base in Athelney. After nearly seven
weeks of strong battles, Alfred was able to begin defeating the Danes (Stenton 253). Along with
Alfred s idea of coercing a recalcitrant peasantry, he had other ways of defeating the Danes as
well. Alfred began building warships in order to develop a navy. The ships in which Alfred built
were twice as long as those which they were intended to meet (Stenton 253). These

SPA Essay
Ajax can be used to develop SPA, but it has some issues with it: 1.Complexity: Execution in any
SPA requires DOM structure to be modified again and again asynchronously in an HTML view.
Controller is responsible for performing such asynchronous operations and as the application
grows large, controller itself becomes complex. The complexity is also increased as developers
tries to add more features to existing application. So, for any changes in the view would also
require changes in controller as well which increases complexity. 2.Debugging: Any DOM
manipulations in the controller are also dependent on events in any HTML view. There is tight

It can also capture parameters passed in URI to be assigned to controller in use. The controller
can thus read the information from URI and make routing decisions accordingly. 4.Directives
Directives have the ability to add new functionalities to the existing DOM. AngularJS has many
built in directives such as ngApp, ngController, ngBind etc. These directives have their own
functionalities in the AngularJS application. Developers can also create their own directives to
add new reusable components. Benefits of SPA: 1.Better User Experience: As Single Page
Applications (SPA) has single page only and part of the web page is refreshed dynamically with
minimum response time, SPA offers better user experience to users. Unlike In traditional
applications whole web page is reloaded completely which is sometimes unnecessary and may even
not feasible on slow network connections. 2.Compatibility: SPA can be easily deployed on other
platforms such as mobile, Tablet or Desktop. Developer can reuse the same piece of code for web
version and mobile application also. 3.Easy deployment and version control: Deployment in
production server is very easy in case of SPA as there are separate client and server logic. One can
easily deploy at client part as only 3 files are typically needed: a single page(.html), a CSS bundle,
and a JavaScript bundle. Rollback to previous version is also very easy in case of

Chloroplast Research Paper
INTRODUCTION
Eukaryotic organelles are very crucial to the function of living organism. Organelles such as the
nucleus, mitochondria and chloroplast are named to the most important and valuable. The cell
nucleus is a double membrane‐bound organelle that contains the hereditary data of the cell
bundled as chromatin. The nucleus is a trademark highlight of most eukaryotic cells. (Wiley,2017)
Eukaryotic cells are unique and important as it consists of a variety of different organelles. These
organelles are: mitochondria, chloroplasts, the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi apparatus, and
lysosomes. The specific organelles that have been mentioned are significant as they have their own
job to function a cell. (Eukaryotic Cells | Learn Science at Scitable, 2017)

A Summary Of Operant Conditioning ABA
ABA is built on B.F. Skinner s theory of operant conditioning: the idea that behavior can be taught
by controlling the consequences to actions. The primary way that the teaching is performed is
through the use of reinforcements and the methods of Imitation, shaping, and chaining to acquire
new behavior and either increase or decrease the likelihood of a certain behaviors. Modeling and
imitation are two learning methods that goes together, you can not have one without the other.
These methods refers to mimicking through observation and later enacting the observed behavior
or actions of others. Modeling can be defined as an antecedent stimulus that evokes the imitative
behavior. The model must serve as a controlling variable for the imitative behavior (Cooper et al.
2007, p.421). If you ever observed a group of children actively engaging in dramatic play, you will

Videogames A Sport
Is the art of playing video games a sport? Video games are indisputably a sport. The biggest
argument over the past years has been that video games should not be considered a sport due to
the lack of physical exertion. People claim that a sport is an activity that has to do with your body
physically moving like basketball, football, etc. but take for instance chess. Chess is considered a
sport in Asia, Europe, and in America; in fact, there is even an Olympiad for chess, in which no
physical movement is involved. Just like any other sport, the art of playing video games include
intensive training, elaborate strategy, and elite competitions which are exactly what constitutes a
sport. Gaming takes an immense amount of practice and dedication.

Telemedicine Ethical Dilemmas
The use of various forms of technology by people from all areas of the world expands seemingly
everyday. The prominence of technology has allowed for people to virtually connect from
different sides of the globe. As technology has grown, however, there has been increasing ethical
concerns as to whether the intent of various connection platforms (such as, Skype , FaceTime ,
etc.) have overreached personal boundaries. Platforms as simple as chat rooms that allow people to
connect via text, and as advanced as global news/email servers have been intercepted by hackers
with intent to invade privacy and steal confidential information. For example, in 2016 the United
States formally indicted two Russian hackers, with dozens of cyber security offenses, that were
behind the theft of over 500 million Yahoo accounts in 2014 (Volz). These charges, which came
during possible speculation that these hackers influenced the election of United States... Show more

According to a government study, bringing telemedicine to places in sub Saharan Africa, made
up of 33 of the 48 globally poorest countries, would be vital to the two main branches of
healthcare: preventive and emergency, where countries that lack proper infrastructure leave
people and communities disease ridden (Wamala). In some countries, such as Ethiopia and
South Africa, there is significant progress in Telemedicine, while in countries such as Burkina
Faso and Nigeria the progress is slow because of lack of political support. The study noted that
while it is not always practical to have doctors deployed to certain regions where medical need is
required, telemedicine and empowering people through video and cellular communication is
critical in areas to prevent disease from occurring in the first place, especially in places like the
rural poor, where delivering medicine is a

Explain The Role Of Complementary Therapies
Explain the role of complementary therapies in relation to orthodox treatments. P4
Compare the role of two complementary therapies with those of more orthodox treatments M2
Evaluate the role of two complementary therapies in contemporary society. D1
The term complementary medicine is used by conventional medical practitioners to refer to nom
invasive, non pharmaceutical techniques which are used in conjunction with allopathic medical
treatments such as drugs and surgery. The term implies that sometimes conventional medicine is
used as a primary tool and also a non invasive, non pharmaceutical complementary technique is used

Although, these complementary therapies may not be able to cure the individuals cancer but it
would be able to support the individual with the treatments they may have. The role of the
complementary therapy reflexology would be to massage the individuals feet which would make
them feel at ease and although they might be unaware of the different areas of their body being
affected, through the reflexology they will be able to identify any areas that might have been
affected due to the disorder. For example, if an individual describes that they might feel a sharp
feeling this would suggest that the individual s body might be out of balance.
Cancer (online) states: Therapists think that you become ill when energy pathways are blocked, and
unblocking them can restore energy and balance.
This can indicate that the orthodox treatment that the individual may undergo may not be as useful
for them as the therapy as the therapist may be aware of why the individual can be ill due to the
blocked pathways. However, relating this to cancer, the orthodox treatment can still be beneficial
for the individual due to the radiotherapy killing the cancer cells. Although, the complementary
therapy may not be as useful for the individual, it could still make them feel at ease once the energy
is being resorted and is balance. The complementary therapies could support the

Literary Devices In Catcher In The Rye
The world of adults is full of phonies and the only way to combat it is to be as innocent as a
child. Today, people have become so self interested that they fail to listen to everyone even
themselves. These are the points J.D. Salinger brings up in his novel The Catcher in the Rye.
Throughout the novel, J.D. Salinger s uses of voice, conflict, aposiopesis, irony, and metaphor
emphasize these points. The Catcher in the Rye is a story of a battle to preserve innocence.
The Catcher in the Rye follows the adventures of a teenage boy named Holden Caulfield. Holden
has changed schools several times over the past years because he either failed all his classes or
harbored strong feelings of hate and disgust towards his school. Holden, during the book s events,
is 16 years old, quite tall, and already has some gray hair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Holden coins this phrase for himself based on a poem that he heard during events that that
occurred before the events of the book. This poem is called Coming thro the Rye by Robert
Burns. The irony between the poem and the novel begins with the two different interpretations of
a catcher in the rye . Holden says that he sees himself catch[ing] everybody [children] if they
start to go over the cliff. . . I d just be the catcher in the rye and all (Salinger ). Holden believes
that being a catcher in the rye involves protecting and preserving the innocence of the children
around him. However, the poem Holden gets this interpretation from is interpreted by most to not
be about innocence, but rather casual sex. Holden now seems to understand how disgusting and
phony sexuality and adulthood is. Holden wants to save children from the horrors that come with
growing up, but the irony lies in Holden basing his own beliefs on a poem about sex. Salinger s
deviation from the traditional meaning of Robert Burns poem gives interesting irony that both
shows how mature and naГЇve Holden really

What Similarities and Differences Are There Between...
It is in our human nature to explain everything. Naturally, there are many ways of knowing.
Application of these, often defined by certain methodology, are frequently classified into areas of
knowledge. Therefore it is natural for one to see similarities and differences within the process of
attaining knowledge in different areas of knowledge. When the method forming scientific and
historical models for human understanding of the world are examined, many similarities can be
seen. These differences and similarities can also be seen when products of explanations are
assessed. When scientific and historical explanations are compared one can see many similarities.

The thesis comes from my own beliefs. For example, such thesis is claiming that differing
ideologies played a major role in the development of the Cold War. Most scholars like J. L. Gaddis
and
Sewell agree that ideology played only a minor role in the development of the Cold War in the late
1940s. However, I can claim that ideology played a very important role in the development of the
Cold
War and present my evidence to support the argument. Unlike most sciencemy explanation of
ideologies in the Cold War does no need to be accepted by the community. In history two or more
different explanations may exist and both would be valid. In science, most explanations are not
regarded as valid unless the majority of the scientific community accept the explanation. One salient
example of this is the discovery and explanation of cold fusion. In March of 1989 Martin
Fleischmann, one of the world s leading electro chemists, and Stanley Pons announced cold fusion3.
Nuclear energy, like that which power the sun produced at room temperature, giving off more
energy than what was originally put in. This promised to produce energy that is clean and efficient;

labs such as Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) and California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) rushed to
reproduce the experiments of Fleischmann and Pons.5 However, MIT and CALTECH did not

Matthew Paul Miller Similarities
When comparing two different people, you first must understand where they each came from.
Matisyahu s real name is Matthew Paul Miller and he was born June 30th, 1979. He was
originally born in Pennsylvania, but was raised in New York. His stage name is translated to Gift
of God and is known mostly for his blend of Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae, rock and hip
hop. In regards to his Jewish identity, he was brought up a Reconstructionist Jew. With the help of a
little research on the subject of Reconstructionist Judaism, I found out that this sect of Judaism is a

There are known to be four big movements in North American Judaism; Orthodox,

the largest among the Jewish community in North America but it is well recognized. Just like
many teenagers, Matthew rebelled against his upbringing and started to take drugs and dropped
out of high school. At that age he was a self proclaimed Phish head . After this phase, Miller took
part in a first hand exploration of Jewish heritage. In return, this program was used in a way that
helped solidify his Jewish identity. From his strict upbringing to a drug infused teenager,
Matisyahu was able to find himself along with his voice. Miller seems to be a coming of age
story about a boy who was able to do something different when it came to his Jewish identity. He
isn t a rabbi, teacher or scholar. He is an artist. Matisyahu has a modern style when it comes to
Judaism. Being a younger guy he is able to reach the young side of Judaism, especially

Nt1310 Unit 3 Project Part 2 Types Of Equipment
Project Part 2: Types of Equipment There are various types of equipment that the company should
look for when considering this network. The first item to look at when considering equipment is
the Operating system and software that we would need. Next, the group took into consideration
the type of server the company needs to make this network a reality. Another thing that we looked
at is the possibility of having ThinClients over regular desktops for all workstations. Of course, it
was taken into consideration that some employees would not want ThinClients. So, we show the
type of tower we plan to place into those spaces, along with any peripheral device for both. Then,
we will look at the networkdevices that will go into each building that include switches, routers,
repeaters, hubs, and wireless access points. Finally, the group will note guidelines for choosing a
local ISP at each site. Each Item outlined helps to build a network based on the specifications given
by the company.
The Operating System
The best operating system for this company running on thin clients would be Linux. Some of the
advantages Linux are the cost. There is zero cost to download and maintain the Linux system. Not

Media And The Vietnam War Essay
[Add thesis] The Vietnam War was the first war to be televised and as a result all government
restrictions were obliterated. During the first world war boundaries were set making sure that no
graphic imagery was released, but by the time the Vietnam war ended the world would have a new
cache of violent and bloody combat photography in their living rooms. In 1965, at the beginning of
the US s involvement in the VietnamWar no one paid it much mind, including the media. But as
soon as reporters began to take interest restrictions came down, not unlike any other war the U.S
has participated in. Barry Zorthian, with his experience with the media, got thing done pretty

Analysis: Using the data from Table 1, calculations were performed to determine how much CO2

more CO2 was expelled after exercising. While exercising, more oxygen is needed in the body for
energy. Since more oxygenis inhaled, it makes sense that more CO2 is exhaled.
Discussion: The control flask was used to establish a baseline so that the other flasks could be

American Family Dynamics
American Family Dynamics
The make up and concept of what was once considered a traditional nuclear family is quickly
disappearing (Timmerman, 2013). According to Jojic, Raj, Wilkins, Treadwell, Caussade
Rodriguez, Blum (2012), Traditional family roles have changed, and the conception of what
Americans consider a family has likewise shifted with differing societal views regarding gender,
gender roles, race, and ethnicity (p. 128). To accompany the changes being made to the customary
view of family dynamics, the family environment has become an influential psychological aspect of
this change (Kwiatkowski, 2010). As evidence continues to expand regarding all of the changes that
have occurred, exact reasons regarding the changes are as abundant as the explanations described in
the data.
As the proof increases concerning the reasons for the downfall and declination of the traditional
family structure within the United States of America; new indications arise as to the reason for the
fall of the nuclear family. Various studies indicate various reasons for the changes. Social,
economical, and moral changes have taken place within the United States of America over the past
few decades. These changes have altered the traditional family concept and have historicalized the
nuclear family.

The Walt Disney Company Understanding Monopolies
The Walt Disney Company Understanding Monopolies Overview and History The Walt Disney
Company is a major media and entertainment enterprise that is based in Burbank, California and
operates in more than forty countries with a worldwide appeal. After going bankrupt with his first
cartoon company Laugh O Gram in 1922 Walt Disney moved to Hollywood, California to start
over (Campbell, Martin, Fabos 456). Walt and his brother Roy created the Disney Brothers
Cartoon studio in 1923 and they signed a contract with M.J. Winkler to produce a series of
animated comedies which became known as the Alice Comedies (Walt Disney). In 1928 they
debuted Steamboat Willie, an animated film with synchronized sound that features the character
Mickey Mouse who would go on to become the world known icon for the Walt Disney Corporation
(Walt Disney). The following year the brothers replaced their partnership with the creation of four
companies: Walt Disney Production, Ltd.; Walt Disney Enterprises; Liled Realty and Investment
Company; and the Disney Film Recording Company (Walt Disney). From a struggling cartoon
studio the company grew and expanded to include motion pictures, documentaries, and television
programs. The continued successes enabled Walt Disney Productions to make an initial public
stock offering in 1940 (Walt Disney). The Disney Empire continued to grow with the opening of its
first theme park, Disneyland in 1955. Additional theme parks including Walt Disney World, Epcot,

years old when he took the Russian throne because of his father s unfortunate death. When he
was seven his own nobles poisoned and killed his mother. While he was a young child he had a
very hard life, he had nobody to look after him or take care of him. He was often molested as a
child and neglected, this having some effect on his rule as he grew older. To get food he would
have to walk around begging others for scraps, keep in mind this was his own empire.

Describe Las Vegas Places
If you were a tourist walking through the neighborhoods in Las Vegas, it would all just seem like
a bunch of neutral colored buildings, a lot of dirt, people in hurry to go nowhere, and more palm
trees than skin cells in your body. It would all appear mediocre to the ambitious image that
people paint with their many words. The fact of the matter is, if you were a tourist, you will only
ever remember Las Vegas for the strip. I don t know how many people I ve held a conversation with
and in my response to the question of where I m from , I always receive the repetitious puzzled
look, followed by the ever ingenious reply of, people actually live in Vegas? It seems to slip their

their hearts desire in downtown Las Vegas, or operating in one of the many hospitals around
town. It s a hustle and bustle finding the person that you want to be, but it s what Vegas is best
at pushing you to unearth what makes you remarkable. My fifth grade G.A.T.E teacher did just
that. I already had a background love for the medical field, my mother always said that I was
born with a scalpel in my hand, but it was Mrs.Tipton that gave me the push that I needed. She

  • 2. Investing Stocks and Bonds Investing in Stocks and Bonds Stocks and Bonds are different in many ways. A stock is a portion or share of the ownership of a corporation. A share will give the owner of the stock the company s profits or loses over time. The good thing about stocks is they can be sold at almost any time as long as there is someone willing to buy. A bond, on the other hand, is a fixed interest financial asset issued by governments, companies, banks, and other large entities. Bonds also are called funds. Bonds pay the owner a fixed amount a specific date, or on specified dates depending on the type of bond. If the bond is a discount bond, then there is one pay date at the end. If the bond is a coupon bond, then it pays a fixed amount over a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I tried Chevron Corporation because they seemed reliable compared to other oil and gas companies (Chevron). Chevron Corporation has been known to strive beyond expectations, and care for the safety of the workforce and environment (Chevron). Chevron products are recognized for their quality, performance, and technology around the world (Chevron). I decided to be on the safe side and only invest 1,000 dollars in Chevron Corporation because of the risk factor that comes into play with the oil and gas industry. Chevron Corporation actually did well after all. The share prices were high to start with. Chevron Corporation had one stock split within the ten years. In September of 2004, the 2:1 split helped my number of shares go from about 48 shares to around 97 shares total. In the end I owned a total of approximately 180 shares. These shares sold for a big $105.38 each. This nearly doubled the 10,000 dollars. The total after the ten years in Chevron Corporation was $18,982.67. The one mutual fund I invested in was with PIMCO. This global investment authority offers many different bonds such as: absolute return bonds, asset allocations, convertibles, municipal bonds, core bonds, etc. (PIMCO). The bond I chose was a core bond. This bond was the PIMCO Total Return Fund. This particular fund focuses on a solid core fixed income (PIMCO). The fund will typically invest in a diversified portfolio of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Imagery In Shawshank Redemption In Shawshank Redemption, a lot is revealed about the characters quickly. Through Red s narration names, occupations and personal details are revealed. In the novel the road it s completely different they try not to reveal anything to keep it mysterious by only using a brief description of the setting. So through the dialogue, Daramont is able to describe the characters well and as it is a film, the visual element is there to further create imagery. In The road, McCarthy would have to depend purely upon words to get the intended visualisation but due to the lack of description, the visualisation is very broad and can be different for different people . In Shawshank Redemption, you can clearly see the characterisation of Andy and Red which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Epidemiological Studies Essay One of the most useful outcomes of studying epidemiology is learning how to evaluate critically the scientific literature (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). Critical assessment of this literature is an important skill for public health professionals because the findings of epidemiologic research inform so many activities (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). Munnoch et al. (2008) done epidemiological studies on S.Saintpaul infection occurred in Australia during October 2006 and found that cantaloupe production and processing practices pose a potential public health threat requiring regulatory and community education interventions. Based on main journal article written upon this subject, this article will analyse how epidemiological research has helped us... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Munnoch et al.2008 the objective of study was cleared that consumption of cantaloupe was directly linked to the infection and hypothesis study done was relevant because it states that cantaloupe was consumed more frequently by cases than expected when compared with the food consumption data for controls from an Australian Campylobacter case control study. So study identified a strong epidemiological association between S.Saintapaul infection and consumption of cantaloupe, with cases being 23 times more likely to have consumed cantaloupe in the 4 days prior to onset of illness than controls. As there were so many people involved in the research so study done was observational study, as no action was taken to change the health outcome people were simply observed (Webb Bain, 2011). The study design used to measure in terms of hypothesis generation method and observational study was useful. STUDY PARAMETERS Research exposure Observational study design examined on the basis of exposure and health outcome. The exposure of interest is the factor that either causes, Prevents, or treats the outcome. It is important to consider whether the exposure was accurately defined and measured because exposure misclassification stems from broad definitions and inaccurate measurements. (Aschengrau Seage, 2008). According to Munnoch et al. (2008), study conducted to investigate the S.Saintapaul infection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Orcs And The Hobbit Analysis Not only was how the Ents reacted to the Orcs and the Hobbits important for how international relations should deal with problems, but Merry and Pippin altered a normal conception within this scene, which is to treat your elders with respect. The Ents within this scene are portrayed as a wise elder that you obey and respect. Merry confronts the Ents decision on not to fight and then still manipulates them into destroying Isengard. Why is it engraved in our heads to follow tradition and listen to the wise? Just because they may be more experience, or think they are more experienced does not mean to follow how they solved their situations. Over time, the world changes. In the 1940 s, World War II was going on and how our grandparents lived is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Gender Conformity And Expectations Through Time Orlando by Virginia Woolf addresses the issues of gender conformity and expectations through time; in this case, three centuries during the Elizabethan Era in the area around Europe. The main character, Orlando, experiences a gender change during his lifetime to become a female and that drastically modifies the way that she lives. Through the motif of Orlando s genderchange and androgyny, Orlando experiences both life and love, which is not common for men and women regardless of the time period. Orlando began life as a young boy, living in a house in the country before being taken into the city by the Queen. As a child, he encourages himself to chase masculine pursuits in life, as his father and other ancestors do before him. Despite the encouragement of masculine activities as his family is known for, during his isolation, he decides instead as an adult that they and their deeds [are] dust and ashes (Woolf, 81) and that he would like to live life the way that he wants to, as a poet searching for love. Even as a man, Orlando has the power and authority to live his life how he wishes, but he always craves love. A poet at heart, Orlando has many loves, such as the girls in his sonnets, and he always writes about them in the way he finds best. He claims Love [has] meant nothing to him but sawdust and cinders (40) and he cannot find the love he is always searching for. Without love in his life, Orlando reaches out to experience new things and thus... this Nobleman [has]... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. What Is The History Of Classical Music During The Baroque... The Baroque Period lasted from 1600 to 1750. This period is where studies of classical music began. During this time period, artists would make their music as intricate as possible to make it sound as elegant as possible. This was a great time for royalty and nobility. The wealthiest households would hire musicians, but depending on the household they might would have an entire orchestra. The households would hire composers to compose songs for parties, balls, and ceremonies. The church would also hire musicians, because of the general public s love for music. (Craig) Oratorios were started in the Baroque Period. Oratorios are sung, much like operas, except for they were about biblical stories. The only main difference is that oratorios are unstaged performances. Oratorios were usually long performances, lasting for several hours. Churches would normally have them for the public. Churches would also have Cantatas. Cantatas were basically the same thing as operas, but they were much shorter. They were usually as long as a church service. (Craig) Instrumental music was still well loved during the Baroque Period. Instrumental music was used for formal dances, like balls and parties. Suites were also played; suites were made of different dance movements. The dance types are allemande, bourree, courante, gavotte, gigue, minuet, sarabande, and waltz. The music would normally have a constant beat and was often quite repetitive. (Craig) Vivaldi was a Baroque composer, often known ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Free will vs. Determinism Free will vs. determinism is an argument as complex, intertwined, and co dependent as nature vs. nurture or the age old question of whether it was the chicken or the egg that came first. Philosophers have contemplated the question for ages, and arrived at no satisfactory answer. While considering which topic to address for this assignment, I posed the question of free will vs. determinism to a philosopher friend, whose response was I don t care. He feels that the question is not worth asking because it will not impact our actions anyway. Which ultimately makes him somewhat of a determinist I suppose, though I m sure he would disapprove of being classified as such. In the end, I settled on the topic of free will vs. determinism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps this is true, but it seems quite unsatisfying. Determinism, on the other hand, does offer consolation in times of disappointment. You didn t get the job you wanted? Unrequited love? Disfigured for life by a random act of violence? Something better will come along. The Universe has a different plan for you. It was God s will. In the end though, these platitudes are no more satisfying than the idea that we are completely free. If everything we do is predetermined, then where is the incentive to reflect on ones actions, learn from mistakes, or take initiative? What difference will it make if we prepare well for the interview if we are the right fit for the organization, we ll get the job. Our soul mate, if it is our destiny to have one, will find us. It is in God s plan that Dr. Phil s sister in law is disfigured for life, and it is not our place to question His will. If our behavior is determined by a compilation of preexisting circumstances beginning with birth, as Skinner (text, pg. 153) and Freud (text, pg. 158) argue, then nothing we do can change the outcome of a situation, and our behavior in any given situation is a product of every situation we have found ourselves in previously. Determinism is certainly comforting, especially when one does not want to take responsibility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne Tyler s classic novel, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant In Anne Tyler s classic novel, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, the reader experiences a variety of conflicts between parent and child, one of the most apparent being that between Pearl Tull and her eldest son, Cody. These two characters never seem to see eye to eye, as Pearl prefers to see only the negative aspects of her children. Cody never truly relates to Pearl and her manic ways. As the conflict unfolds between Pearl and Cody, the deeper meaning of the story is revealed; there is never a perfect family, but nonetheless, theirs is a family. The reader wonders why Ezra, the second child, is superior to Cody. Pearl s unabashed affection for Ezra results in Cody s delinquency and self imposed removal from his family. Cody never liked going home to visit his mother, even though she seemed to encourage him to do so. In this aspect, the title carries heavy significance, homesick is actually translated to being sick of home. Simply, this is how Cody feels, he can t stand to be at home, or near his mother. In addition to physical and emotional pain, the reader can sense apathy from Cody towards his mother whenever he has to encounter her. It s nothing to me what she thinks. ... You don t know what she s like. You don t know what it was like growing up with her. Here, Cody expresses the emotional scars the continuing conflict with his mother has left in him. The one time Cody tries to reach out to his mother and be kind to her by buying her tickets to visit her old time friend, Pearl completely disregards his effort because she didn t want to miss Ezra s birthday. I watched videos of places like Madrid, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Bangkok, Thailand, and Rome, Italy. I started to voice my opinions to my family and they really supported me. Now, I have a Bucket List of the places I would list to go, and I can t wait to travel to those 5 places. I once watched a video of a restaurant in Switzerland and I started to become interested. The video was about how they put cheese on everything. It looked absolutely amazing and I just wanted to learn more. I then saw another video of the view of a city in Switzerland and I was hooked. In the movie/book, the couple goes to Amsterdam to visit. I was very intrigued after watching and started looking into it. The city is quite beautiful and the director of the movie did a great job of showing off the city. When I go there I want to go to the Anne Frank house and explore. I want to walk down the streets of Amsterdam and take touristy pictures and just live up the experience. It definitely a place everyone should want to visit. Bangkok, Thailand really caught my attention when I saw a video of the street food in their markets. The video showed how busy the market was, and how long the lines for some of the vendors were. The foods varied from fried squid, to different types of ice cream. I also saw some pictures overlooking the city and it looked beautiful. I would love to go and take all kinds of pictures of the market, so I could show everyone how different their culture is. An example of patience would be my trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that we would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month and a half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally the day came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, Everyone wake up! It s Disney day, it s Disney day! We packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not, and then we drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport we proceeded to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready to board. This literary era rejects everything that has to do with rationalism, religion or industrialization, which were very important in the 1800s, however, not liked much by literary figures. Many poems which were written after the late 1700s reflect on the elements of romanticism. The experimental language and the interest in nature, spiritual elements and free mind shows through. Romanticism was not only a style in literature, but a genre and a movement which was a foundation of our modern world. The word romantic means something different in nowadays than it used to mean in the Romantic era. It comes from the word Roman and it could be traced back to latin which later on was the base of Italian, French and Spanish, thus the Romantic languages. The writers of the Romantic period reflected on the Classical periods and were characterized by emotions and intense imagines. The new era which brought the industrial revolution and a new, modern society was not what people had hoped for. • 16. Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization... Zachary Golden Final Paper Outline Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program within an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four key areas that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing career development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well planned job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also increases the overall job satisfaction of employees. Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person is developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the entire operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a company s processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying work to provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is closely linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal is to provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume a higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management in a business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job rotation involves the ... This ultimately created a German legacy of strong militaristic tendencies, scheming national relations, and economic clout challenging the European heavyweights like England and France. This was the first instance of Prussia asserting itself internationally, and it wouldn t be the last before unification was complete. To get the support of his king, Bismarck appealed to his militaristic side, as the king originally was disinclined to start a war, but after appealing to his militaristic and nationalistic sentiments, Bismarck effectively convinced his king to go to war. Conducting the war in Schleswig Holstein was a simple task for Prussia, but the aftermath was more involved. With the two states defeated, Bismarck fought to see them divided between Prussia and Austria ensuring tensions between the two. The final arrangement was as abrasive as possible, and the Seven Weeks War, between Prussia and Austria soon followed because of this outcome. Bismarck entered this war with a unique goal for its conclusion as his main goal was not to instigate a conflict to defeat an enemy, but to merely assert the sovereignty of the German states. Macbeth was most likely written before the Gunpowder Plot in 1605 during the Jacobean era and it is thought that Shakespeare wrote the play in order to compliment the current King, James I. Shakespeare adapted his source material from Holinshed s Chronicles ; and one way he did this was by giving the audience full access to Macbeth s tortured mind, so they could witness Macbeth s most powerful emotions. Moreover, the other hand is similar, however, there are differences. It represents the citizens; it is feeble, strangled in wire and being controlled by the other hand, the government . To conclude, the textures play a key role in the development of the idea of power, as well as the contrast in lighting. Tina Modotti grew up in an extremely marginalised and poor environment. The 1999 repeal of the Glass Steagall Act effectively removed the separation between investment banks and depository banks in the United States. Credit rating agencies failed to price the risk involved with mortgage related financial products accurately. The Government, concerned with not performing economically as well as the Clinton administration believed increasing home ownership was the answer and reduced obstacles (like loan income/debt documentation). The world s insurance companies began insuring mortgage instruments. Excessive investment leverage, especially in the Banks and venture capitalist communities. And the Government did not adjust their regulatory practices to address 21st century financial markets especially in credit default swaps (CDS). These factors set the stage for disaster and greedy speculators wanting to short the housing market triggered it by systematically exposing the mortgage risks to the world. • 29. Solar Energy Advantages And Disadvantages Solar energy can be use today in a variety of ways. Probably because today, more and more people are understanding the advantages of solar energy as our solar technology increases and the cost of fossil fuels rises. Solar energy systems today can now used to power homes, cars, appliances in a ways of like Photovoltaic panels, Heating water, Lighting etc. Solar Photovoltaic panels The most common form of solar energy used today are photovoltaic solar panels, which absorb the sun s light to create electricity. These solar panels can be attached to homes as a primary or secondary source of electric power. They can also be used for small appliances and machines which only need small amounts of electricity for use. Large scale photovoltaic panel plants have also been constructed to provide power to many homes. Solar cels convert sunlight directly into electricity. Solar cells are often used to power calculators and watches. They are made of semiconducting materials similar to those used in computer chips. When sunlight is absorbed by these materials, the solar energy knocks electrons loose from their atoms, allows the electrons to flow through the material to produce electricity. This process of converting light (photons) to electricity (voltage) is called the photovoltaic(PV)effect. Solar cells are typically combined into modules that hold about 40 cells; a number of these modules are mounted in PV arrays that can measure up to several meters on a side. These flat plate PV arrays can be mounted at a fixed angle facing south, or they can be mounted on a tracking device that follows the sun, allowing them to capture the most sunlight over the course of a day. Several connected PV arrays can provide enough power for a household; for large electric utility or industrial applications, hundreds of arrays can be interconnected to form a single, large PV system. Solar lighting One of the easiest way to improve home efficiency is to add outdoor solar lighting to your property. Unlike traditional exterior lights, solar lighting requires no complicated setup as the lights are wireless and harness sunlight during the day to circumvent the need for grid supplied electricity at night. The reactions, movement, existence, comparisons, purposes, and common beliefs of the world show that there must be a god. The existence of a god is an irrefutable fact. Sir Isaac Newton stated that every action has a reaction. Therefore every reaction is formed from an action which #8364;in and of itself is a reaction to a previous action. If this theory is followed far enough back, there must be an original action, something that starts all actions, and causes all reactions. Since nothing can cause its own action, because to do so would mean that it would have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once again, by following this path to its origin one will find that something must always have existed in order for anything further to exist because for something to exist, it will one day cease to exist and in order for it to cease to exist it must at one point not have existed. Thus it must have been created since that which does not exist comes into being by something that exists (Knowledge, 134). And, as we saw in relation to movers and to causes, so we cannot but postulate the existence of some being having of itself its own existence and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their existence. Thus, one may observe evidence of the existence of god . Comparisons between things using more or less show that there must be something to which the thing is being compared. To say that something is better than something else which is good is to show that one has the extreme resemblance of the most . Thus, there must be a being that is the most good, something to which everything is compared. As the ultimate good would likely be found in a perfect being, and it is said that god is perfect , than this ultimate good must be the supreme being which is known as god . Thus for the comparisons to be used and found to be truthful, there must be a god. The purposes for which things exist also provide proof of the existence of god . Everything acts with a purpose ... An increase in unforeseen large claimant activity from dependents is contributing to this overestimated spend. Although this year s plan spend through the first 6 months is higher than anticipated, the past several years for the Lakeside plan saw reduced cost and surpluses to budget. For the 2014/2015 plan year, the Lakeside Health Plan budgeted an $11,879 PEPY cost. The year finished at $11,236 PEPY or $132,236 below budget. Medical claims were 3.1% below the prior year, and RX spend was a 14.1% increase; changes were made to the 2015/2016 plan year to counter the increased drug spend. The plan saw large reductions in large claimant spend due to both stop loss negotiations resulting in the removal of lasers and DialysisPPO. During the 2013/2014 plan year, the health plan total cost ended almost 25% below the expected budget. Net paid claims were down 7.4% or $447,827 over the budget. On a PEPY basis, Lakeside had budgeted a $14,995 net cost per employee. The plan year ended at an $11,301 PEPY cost or $676,350 below the expected total cost. This was largely due to a large claimant with $250,000 exposure in the form of a laser coming off the plan with only $46k in claims. King Alfred the Great Essay King Alfred the Great King Alfred the Great was born at Wantage, in 849, on a royal manor of his father s holding, a family estate which long afterward he himself would leave in legacy to his wife. Alfred was the youngest of five children, four sons and a daughter, born to Ethelwulf by his wife Osburh. When Alfred was four years old, his father, the king, who by now had long despaired of getting to Rome in the present state of things, decided to send Alfred there, to at least receive the blessing of the Holy Father. Except Alfred who decided to allow half the men liable for service to remain at home while the other half was out against the Danes (Stenton 261). In order for Alfred to keep peace and defeat the Danes, he had to win many major battles. On Easter Sunday 878, when King Alfred withdrew into the Isle of Athelney, there was every likelihood that before the end of the year Wessexwould have been divided out among the members of the Danish army. King Alfred made sure that Wessex would escape that fate. Although Alfred did lose a major battle against the Danes only four years ago, he overcame them in 878 when he won the Battle of Edington. Alfred showed strong resistance by constantly engaging Danish raiding parties from his base in Athelney. After nearly seven weeks of strong battles, Alfred was able to begin defeating the Danes (Stenton 253). Along with Alfred s idea of coercing a recalcitrant peasantry, he had other ways of defeating the Danes as well. Alfred began building warships in order to develop a navy. • 34. SPA Essay Ajax can be used to develop SPA, but it has some issues with it: 1.Complexity: Execution in any SPA requires DOM structure to be modified again and again asynchronously in an HTML view. Controller is responsible for performing such asynchronous operations and as the application grows large, controller itself becomes complex. The complexity is also increased as developers tries to add more features to existing application. So, for any changes in the view would also require changes in controller as well which increases complexity. 2.Debugging: Any DOM manipulations in the controller are also dependent on events in any HTML view. AngularJS has many built in directives such as ngApp, ngController, ngBind etc. These directives have their own functionalities in the AngularJS application. Developers can also create their own directives to add new reusable components. Benefits of SPA: 1.Better User Experience: As Single Page Applications (SPA) has single page only and part of the web page is refreshed dynamically with minimum response time, SPA offers better user experience to users. Unlike In traditional applications whole web page is reloaded completely which is sometimes unnecessary and may even not feasible on slow network connections. 2.Compatibility: SPA can be easily deployed on other platforms such as mobile, Tablet or Desktop. Developer can reuse the same piece of code for web version and mobile application also. 3.Easy deployment and version control: Deployment in production server is very easy in case of SPA as there are separate client and server logic. One can easily deploy at client part as only 3 files are typically needed: a single page(.html), a CSS bundle, and a JavaScript bundle. Rollback to previous version is also very easy in case of ... The primary way that the teaching is performed is through the use of reinforcements and the methods of Imitation, shaping, and chaining to acquire new behavior and either increase or decrease the likelihood of a certain behaviors. Modeling and imitation are two learning methods that goes together, you can not have one without the other. These methods refers to mimicking through observation and later enacting the observed behavior or actions of others.
