Dulce Et Decorum Est Propaganda
Dulce Et Decorum Est is an anti war poem, written by a soldier in the british army during World
War 1, who ended up being one of the leading poets of the first world war. In his poem, Dulce Et
Decorum Est , Wilfred Owen uses diction to evoke grotesque imagery that portrays the true horrors
of the WWI battlefield in contrast to the blind patriotism promoted by propaganda.
There is a great presence of juxtaposition used throughout the poem as a way to emphasise contrasts
between war and propaganda and to touch on a greater idea of the contradicting issues presented by
the battlefield. For instance, there is a significant contrast between the title, Dulce Et Decorum Est,
meaning it is sweet and honorable to die for one s country, and the

Online Reservation System of Dagupan Garden Village Hotel
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background of the Study A hotel is an establishment that
provides paid lodging on a short term basis. The provision of basic accommodation, in times
past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely
been replaced by rooms with modern facilities. As internet technology has improved, so have
reservation systems. Today, it is possible through online, to make a reservation for a hotel
anywhere in the world. Hotels can create Web site and post new content on it every day. Dagupan
Garden and Dagupan Village Hotels are twin hotels nestled in a calm suburban area of Dagupan
City away from the hustle and activity of the city s main commercial and business center. The...

At that stage the proponents determine the specifications of the management s real needs.
1.Identifying basic requirements The proponents will determine the basic requirements including
the needed resources for the proposed system such as the computer, internet connection, the
existing web site of the hotel and books for research activities. 2.Developing initial prototype
The initial prototype is developed and the proponents will design the user interface of the
proposed system. 3.Review The proponents will examine the prototype and will make some
additions or changes to the proposed system. 4.Revising and enhancing the prototype The
proponents will make some corrections and will formulate more concepts to be applied in
enhancing the prototype. CHAPTER 2 THE EXISTING SYSTEM 2.1 Overview of the Existing
System In this chapter the proponents will discuss about the existing system, the traditional way of
reserving a room and event on a hotel. In able to reserve, the guest will make reservations through
a phone call. This traditional way of making reservations does not provide convenience for the
guest. Through phone calls occasionally the guest and the reserving clerk don t understand each
other and no clear conversations. The information from the guest will not be accurately recorded in
the registry form. Another way of reserving a room and event is through

Osteoporosis In Japanese Americans
Osteoporosis
Although there are many diseases that Japanese Americans suffer more from than mainland or
Hawaiian Japanese, Osteoporosis is a disease that Japanese Americans suffer more from than other
ethnic groups. Osteoporosis is a disease where the body looses too much bone proteins or doesn t
make enough which causes the bones to become weak which can be considered also as low bone
mineral density (BMD)(https://www.nof.org/patients/what is osteoporosis). This result can cause
things like hip fractures and shortened height, which are common occurrences in Japanese
Americans as they age. Japanese Americans in addition also experience the lowest BMD which is
one of the reasons they probably have the highest rate of Osteoporosis. In particular, ... Show more

Japanese Americans tend to be more work oriented and lead less of a physical lifestyle, resulting
in less movement and strain on the spine and hips. Japanese Americans also tend to be more
lactose intolerant, resulting in calcium deficiency and a lower bone density. Lactose Intolerance
also creates a issue among women, who rely on healthy fats throughout menopause in order to
produce efficient estrogen and conserve bone density. In a study an increase of surgically induced
menopause has been seen in Japanese American women, with a mean age of the menopause seen
being now seen at the age of 51.5 compared to the 55.5 of native Japanese women. (Fujiwara S. et
al) which means that their estrogen levels are depleting faster compared to other ethnicities and
subjecting them to a higher risk of lower bone density and osteoporosis.

Janie As A Woman
The novel presents a story of an African American woman, Janie Crawford. It shows her struggle in
which she fights for acceptance and a sense of security. Throughout the novel, her growth into
womanhood is presented. At the beginning, Janie is depicted as a shy and withdrawn woman who
is not inclined to speak about her emotions and feelings. Her voice is often stifled, and, as a result,
she remains unheard and unnoticed. She feels that her community ignores her. She could not define
herself as a woman, and, in turn her inner self is not integral (Fard Zarrinjooee, 2014). Miller
writes that Janie`s character can be considered as a canonical figure from the feminism`s point of
view because of the fact that she wants to free herself from men`s... Show more content on

Only in this way can she manage to gain her self actualization (Miller, 2004).
In the course of time, Janie becomes a self confident woman. Importantly, because of her
experiences, she learns that, in order to fight for her own happiness; she has to make her voice
heard. In their article, Fard and Zarrinjooee state that in the course of time, the protagonist begins to
accept her blackness (2014: 94). This argument coincides with the following passage in the novel in
which Janie refers to her skin color and her identity: Where is me? Ah Don`t see me and Ah`m
colored (Their Eyes Were Watching God, 1990: 9).
In the novel, this transition is symbolized by means of a recurrent symbol the mule which refers to
the moments of speech and silence. Whenever Janie remains silent, the image of the mule appears,
while in the moments in which she takes action the mule disappears (Haurykiewicz, 1997:46).
Before the close analysis, it is worth focusing here on the symbolism in the novel. As a matter of
fact, the mule does not appear in Their Eyes Were Watching God for the first time. There are two
short stories published by Hurston before the novel in which the mule functions as a symbol: The

Workplace Conflict Resolution – a Case Study
Workplace Conflict Resolution A Case Study
Posted on October 13, 2009
Leaders frequently face situations where conflict arises in the workplace and they re called upon
to resolve the situation. Although conflict is not generally regarded as a positive experience it
actually can be a key opportunity to create change that will reduce friction in the workplace. We
can begin to defuse conflict by understanding what it is and implementing some practical strategies
to manage it.
Conflict is a natural part of the workplace experience; people do not see eye to eye on everything
and often dig in and defend their positions. Conflict arises when individuals do not see the world in
the same way. The trap we fall into is assuming that conflict... Show more content on

Tom has tried everything he knows to smooth things out but the two still spar frequently. This
chronic pattern has led to disciplinary action by Tom and complaints to human resources by
Tina. Both parties are productive employees who love the company and their jobs but do not
know how to move beyond all this conflict. Tom realizes that in order to build an effective team
he has to have Tina on board but he doesn t know how to do it. He knows that by using Tina s
skills and energy he will look better and the company will benefit. But how to do it?
Following our common sense approach Tom asks Tina to sit down and talk. It s important to
mention first that managers benefit greatly by putting in place some key elements that lead to
successful conversations such as meeting at a mutually convenient time, no distractions or
interruptions allowed, no agendas, a calm environment and unrestricted time to talk. When we set
up an environment conducive to relaxed conversation we create a greater likelihood of success. A
small investment in time up front to talk in depth can more than make up for the countless lost
hours and cost devoted to ongoing conflict.
They begin the conversation and together they discover that one issue at hand is that Tina prefers
to work with less supervision. They agree that they will talk about that one issue and name it, Tina
working with less supervision. The next thing they do is that each talks about what he or she thinks
about Tina working

Film Adaptation Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s frightening tale of Count Dracula has struck horror into the hearts of many since it
was originally penned. In 1987, Bram Stoker wrote the revolutionary tale Dracula that played off
the fears of the people of the era. The plot and characters that make the novel great also translate
nearly perfectly to cinematic adaptations. Starting in the early 1900 s, directors have done their
best to portray the terror that the original novel inspired. Francis Ford Coppolas Bram Stoker s
Draculawas released in 1992 and follows the book s storyline very closely. However, to appeal to
his generations ideals on relationships and sex, Coppola made some changes to the plot; however,
many of the characters and themes are kept intact. He also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is much different form the novel version of the Count, who Harker describes as a monster
will wants to satiate his lust for blood, and create a new and ever widening circle of semi demons
to batten on the helpless (Stoker 53) Another difference that is different in Dracula s film version is
how he is killed. In the book, Harker slits his throat after a climatic chase and battle, and
immediately turns to dust (Stoker 325). This battle still occurs in Coppola s version; however,
he is eventually killed by Mina and the act is seen as one of compassion and kindness. Stoker
does not explore this idea in his novel. Stoker does not explore this idea in the novel, as doing so
would have taken away from the frightening, undead character that he was trying to create. This is
not to say that Coppola was wrong to go this route, however, only that the perception of vampires
had shifted and he needed something to fit along with this shift. On top of this, Coppola also
decided to make his movie much more erotic portrayal of many characters in the film. This starts
with the brides, who have a much more sexual way of approaching Jonathan than in the book. The
sexual tone continues into how Lucy is depicted in the film. Lucy originally had more of a sexual
undertone than the other characters in the book. For example, she

San Clemente Island Essay
The study was carried out in San Clemente Island (SCI; 118В° 30 W, 33В° 00 N), the
southernmost of the California Channel Islands, located approximately 109 km west of San
Diego, California (Fig. XX). The SCI is under the administration and management of U.S. Navy
and is not open to civilians, except by the permission of the naval authorities. The island covers
14,764 ha (147.64 km2) area extending 34 km north south and ranges in width from 2.5 6.5 km.
The diverse topography of the island (a steeply sloping eastern side and gently sloping marine
terraces of western side), is the result of tectonic and climatic dynamics (Raab and Yatsko 2009),
which produce a greater spatial variability in temperature, wind, rainfall, and fog (Moody 2000).
The island experiences an arid Mediterranean type climate characterised by cool, wet winters and
hot, dry summers. It receives an average of 130 mm of rainfall annually (U.S. Dept. of the Navy
2002) with most precipitation (95%) between November and April, the wet season (Yoho et al.
1999). Temperatures are relatively moderate throughout the year with average mean summer and
winter temperatures of 18В°C and 14В°C, respectively. Soil are predominantly clayey and fine
loamy with Vertisols morphology (Muhs et al. 2007). The Island vegetation was comprised
primarily of maritime desert scrub dominated by spiny and succulent plants (Cylindropuntia

Aileen s Legacy
The British invasion of Australia has unfortunately had multiple negative impacts on all Indigenous
Australians, and additionally has created historic legacies that frequently effect the way in which
people perceive, and work with Indigenous peoples. One of the historic legacies evident throughout
Aileen s case is the horrific occurrence of the stolen generation. One of the most profound
consequences of colonisation, involving the removal of Aboriginal children from their families into
missions, reserves or other institutions (Dudgeon, Wright, Paradies, Garvey Walker, n.d.). This
historic legacy can be identified in Aileen s case, which has potential to impact on the processes
taking place, and the decisions being made by the stakeholders.... Show more content on

This policy has many principles that social workers are obliged to, in order to inform and guide
ethical practice. One principle specifically that relates to Aileen s case is section 3.2 stating that,
social justice is a core obligation which societies should be called upon to uphold. Societies
should strive to afford protection and provide maximum benefit for all their members (AAWS,
2010). In addition, the AAWS Code of Ethics elaborates on the principle of social justice
requiring all social work professionals to; promote social fairness by reducing barriers with
special regard for those who are vulnerable or oppressed, advocate for and fight against
inequalities and injustice, and work to eliminate all violations of human rights (AAWS, 2010).
Relating back to Aileen s case, if these principles within the policy of the AAWS Code of ethics
were to be implemented and operated on all levels including the micro, messo and macro levels,
will create a platform and equal opportunity for equitable and socially just outcomes to be achieved

The Pros And Cons Of Stadium Subsidy
Sports subsidies have become the main way to finance a lot of the stadiums being built all
around the United States. A stadium subsidy is a sort of government subsidy provided for a
professional sports team to help invest in the building or improvement of sports stadiums. Even
though these subsidies are occurring that does not mean that they are good. As a matter of fact
they do more harm than good to the economy of the area the stadium is built in. This situation
brings in taxes, business collapse, and really no solid evidence after research has been done on
the economic boost of these stadium subsides. The government should be shut down from giving
out subsidies to sports franchises for the construction of the new stadiums because of all the
harm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the area by the stadium may flourish other parts of
the city could be kicked out of business. Also no matter if the sports franchise is a winning
franchise, the more distance the sports stadium is from the main part of town, there is more of a
chance of economic collapse (Jacobson 25). It is very hard to have a flourishing city all around if
one side of town is getting the majority of business. If a city plans to have a better economy,
building a new sports stadium is not the way to go. Most of the time the stadiums do not work
out economically. That does not mean that stadiums can not work out in a city but just that the
fact that the city will not become rich off of this introduction of a stadium (Jacobson 23). There
are a lot of sports cities that struggle because of new stadiums coming into their community and
a lot of businesses that have gone out of business because of this. The government should stop
giving out this free money to big money franchises.

Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams
One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world
we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the
entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain
changes in the schooltake place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure
the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the
once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC
meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there
are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel
the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC
meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved
down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an
organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My
district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year,
the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all
minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I
thought this was

Civility Vs. Savagery In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
In the novel Lord of the Flies written by William Golding the novels main theme was civility
versus savagery. The novel is about school boys who get stranded in an island because the
airplane the boys were in was shot down. The only adult who was the pilot died so the boys had
to learn how to survive without any adults. The schoolboys were aged ranged from 6 to 12 and
since there is no adult supervision the boys vote for a leader which causes conflict with two boys.
Things begin to get out of hand because they are free from any rules resulting in them acting like
savages and forgetting about civilization. The conflict between the two boys named Ralph and

Jack is not the leader but still manages to break and change Ralph s rules. The conch shell was
supposed to represent power and order all over the island but Jack establishes that the conch
shell does not work in a specific place. The boys had no rules since there was not any adults in
the island. If the boys did not want to do something they would not do it. All the boys did not
care about their appearance they were not those civilized boys anymore. As the days passed and
the boys were still stranded in the island they would become less civilized. In chapter 7 all the
boy s appearance is not civilized they begin to look like animals: Not one of them was an
obvious subject for a shower, and yet hair, much too long, tangled here and there, knotted round a
dead leaf or a twig (Golding). What this means in terms of civilization is that the appearances the
boys present is symbolizing that they have no hope and that the boys do not care. They are hiding
their feelings inside but are showing them in the outside by acting like animals and dressing
uncivilized. Ralph and Jack disagree with hunting or being rescued being the main goal. Jack and
Ralph have different point of views on hunting but hunting for pigs becomes the main topic on the
island. Most of the boy s do not care of getting rescued all they care about is surviving and eating
meat. Jack and his hunters become obsessed with hunting that there is even a chant that is said

The movie Excalibur not only explained the story of Arthur and how he came to rule the Britains, it
also showed scenes of courage and chivalry. However, three scenes stuck out more than the others.
The scene when Perceval is knighted to defend the queen, when Mordred and King Arthur fight it
out in the end, and when Bedivere finally throws Excaliburinto the water. The first best scene in
Excalibur is when Guinevere is accused of adultery and Perceval is knighted to fight for her. It is
an act of immense courage for Perceval to step into that position because of his circumstance. He

Use Of Light In Blanche Dubois
Blanche DuBois manipulates lighting and shadows in a room to hide her true identity. She is
constantly concealed by shadows, avoiding direct light which may reveal her mysterious secret
past that is metaphorically hidden in her face. In the play, Blanche is regularly mentioning light,
and the significance of it. Although this is a film with no colour, the use of light is very visually
prominent. The use of light appears as a deceiving disguise that Blanche uses to shape her image.
She aspires to be an elegant, youthful person when in fact, her beauty is fading, and she has lost all
sense of reality. The film has a major emphasis on the use of light in scene nine, where Mitch rushes

The Effects Of Video Marketing And Social Media On The Ski...
The effect of Video Marketing and Social Media on the Ski Industry
The ski industry has historically been creative in its marketing ventures, which include glossy, full
page magazine ads and full length films that are released at the beginning of each season. The
films and ads display the best pro skiers in the best new gear, and serve as effective marketing
tools. In recent years, a new form of advertising has helped the industry reach a large demographic
almost instantly; social media. The ability to use social media allows companies to share their
online advertising content with everyone who is on that social media network, allowing access to
millions of people with just a few clicks. As a result, video marketing is becoming an increasingly
popular method of advertising for everyone in the ski industry, from small start up companies to the
worlds largest and most popular ski resorts. Also, the invention of the GoPro, the most popular and
advanced handheld camera out, has enhanced the online marketing aspect of the industry. This
camera is waterproof and impact proof, can fit in the palm of hand and can be mounted or fixed to
almost anything. Stemming from technological advancements in the film industry, and social media,
video marketing and its promotions have become a successful asset to the ski industry.
The ski industry needs to keep up with the times to stay competitive with its marketing strategies,
which now includes delivering high quality online content

Conflict Between The Conflict And Supporting Evidence
Have you ever been a part of a conflict? Perhaps the conflict existed in your home because you
want your children to do chores, but your spouse disagrees, or perhaps you have had a conflict in
the workplace where a co worker, no matter what you said was always in disagreement with you.
Whether at home or work, it is best to resolve conflictas both instances, the conflict could create
an uneasy situation at home or in the workplace and could result in people being hurt, work not
be accomplished or even a physical altercation. Therefore, it is recommended that instead of
allowing conflict to remain, that instead the conflict is resolved For that reason I will describe a
conflict within an organization or team which I am familiar with, identify and describe the
source(s) and level of the conflict and supporting evidence, describe the steps taken to resolve
the conflict, describe a minimum of three conflict outcomes that could reasonably occur as a
result of the resolution and the support for my reasoning for each possible outcome. First I will
begin with a basic description of conflict. Conflict, in my opinion, is when a disagreement occurs
between two or more people, someone having an opposing view or even an internal conflict such
as should I eat the entire box of cookies , just to name a few. In fact, according to Baack (2012),
conflict is circumstances in which one party negatively affects or seeks to negatively affect another
party (Sec. 7.3). What this means

Essay on Zara Fast Fashion Case Study Solution

economics? Its relative capital efficiency?
Even though H amp;M follows a strategy which differs significantly from Inditex s approach it is
the closest competitor from the financial point of view. H amp;M differs from Zara because it
outsources all of the production, it is more price oriented and spends more money on advertising.

One Year Change in MarketValue
Inditex: 47%H amp;M: 8%
Another factor which is interesting to examine is the One Year Change in Market Value. Inditex
is on top position compared to all competitors with an impressive growth rate of 47%. H amp;M
has the closest result and is the only company besides Inditex whose market value has been
growing in 2001.
Inditex s efficiency is the result of a more profitable investment strategy. By owning all the stores
and manufacturing sites it is able to achieve control over all production processes and costs. The
high number of stores may be also traced back to the increasing value of the property because Zara
only buys stores in strategic areas (shopping malls, shopping arcades, pedestrian districts etc.)

Plants are the major source of vitamin B6 for animals, yet the biosynthesis pathway and the
function of vitamin B6 in plants are not well elucidated. In this study, an Arabidopsis pyridoxine
synthase gene PDX1 was characterized and its in vivo functions were investigated. The PDX1 gene
was expressed in all plant parts examined and its expression level was not significantly regulated
by abiotic stress or the phytohormone abscisic acid. In roots, PDX1 was highly expressed in a
defined region behind the root tips that undergoes rapid cell division. The PDX1 protein was mainly
associated with the plasma membrane and endomembranes, implying a potential involvement of
vitamin B6 in membrane function. To reveal the in vivo role of PDX1, Arabidopsis insertional
mutants were isolated. Strikingly, the pdx1 knockout mutants were impaired in root growth and
early seedling development. The stunted roots resulted from both reduced cell division and
elongation. Supplementation of the growth media with pyridoxine or reintroduction of the wild
type PDX1 gene into the mutants completely restored the mutant growth, demonstrating that PDX1
is required for pyridoxine biosynthesis in planta. In addition to the developmental defects, pdx1
mutants are hypersensitive to osmotic stress and oxidative stress. These mutant seedlings had
increased peroxidation of membrane lipids following UV treatment. Our study establishes a

when their mother was so depressed and wouldn t come out of her room. The boys would go to
check on her everyday and try to get her to come down stairs even to join the family for dinner but
she wouldn t get out of bed. But the reason Ella, their mother, wouldn t leave her room because
she was in such a state of depression and felt as if she was all alone. Eventually she realized there
was nothing her boys could do to make her feel any better so she decided that moving out of the
house would be best for all of them. But when she did this they boys felt as if they no longer had
a mother, and Tom was left to raising their children all by himself. This sense of loneliness put a
strain on everyone in the family; Ike and Bobby continuously asked Tom if their mother was every

Jedediah Strong Smith Research Paper
History furnishes few examples of daring and adventure comparable to those of the fur trappers
and hunters of the Great West. Jedediah Strong Smith was a was a clerk, frontiersman, hunter,
trapper, author, cartographer, and explorer. Known for his great contributions for travel, he and
his fellow trappers were the forerunners of advancing civilization in the West. They explored the
regions west of the Mississippi, from the confines of the Arctic ocean in the North to the borders
of Mexico in the South. All without government protection, they traversed through perilous
mountain ranges filled with savage foes. Canoed over uncharted waters, and only narrowly
escaped. Jedediah s adventures were often never recorded, and credit was given to those men

Unnatural In Macbeth
Because of natural/unnatural thoughts colliding together. Macbeth s mixed emotions, alludes to
a development of abuse of power. Early in the play, Lady Macbeth convinced Macbeth to kill

Narrative Essay Strength
Once I failed, but now I am showing my strengths. There was this high school I played played for
named Central Dauphin. They were called the Rams. Before I go on, I am going to fast forward
to the end of Junior year and to the beginning of my Senior year. It was a game against Carlisle
Thundering Herd. The gamewas cold and it was the first game of playoffs. I did not start at the
time but our starting tackle got hurt so I had been thrown in there. Now take in mind my body is

Analysis Of The Play Oedipus Tyrannous By Sophocles

August 19, 2016
Dear Dr. Kwa,
I chose to write about the play Oedipus Tyrannous by Sophocles, I found this play to be very
encapsulating to the very end. I really enjoyed the suspense, as well as the turn of direction that
the play took in the end as the plot thickened. In this essay, I will describe why I personally
believe that this play was not just a tragic event and the many reasons why I believe that Oedipus
can be viewed as a tragic hero by his actions throughout the play. I believe that some of my
strengths in this essay will show that I have written a well developed and explanatory essay that
will prove to be true of my analysis of Oedipus s heroism in his words to support my opinions. I
know that some of the verses that I quoted form the play can be interpreted differently so I would
definitely like to get your take on those quotes that I cited that you feel may have a deeper
meaning or interpretation altogether. I also view this as my weakness because of the way that
some of the verses are worded or the choice of words used, it was hard for me to understand as it
sounded a bit off. I also know that I used a few large sections of quotes which I made up for in my
in my word count.

An Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
A Cynics Enlightenment
Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral is outwardly about a pessimistic man, whose wife s blind
visitor named Robert changes the narrators predisposing perception of the world and awakes a new
view on life in the process. But inwardly, the story is about the desperate need for connection
between these three characters, which isn t feasible do to the emotional detachment by the narrator.
In the beginning, the narrator is hindered by his prejudices which doesn t allow him connect to
anything greater than himself. But with the help of the blind man who is able to see the greater
truth, since he s incapable of having his perception distorted based on outer appearance; allows
him to teach the narrator the difference between looking and seeing. Carver is proclaiming that
when we open ourselves to new ways of connecting with others, and new ways of viewing at the
world, we can have hugely rewarding experiences.
The Cathedral defines what it really means to be blind . First, being the blind man who literally
cannot see because he is disabled. And then what it means to be emotionally blind like the narrator.
The narrator possesses very shallow, ignorant, and careless qualities which then makes him form
harsh prejudices upon people. And that s the root to his blinders. And him having these prejudices
denies him of connecting with anyone or anything, then distancing him from the world. He
generalizes all of his opinions, making him believe if you ve seen

Environmentalism In Princess Mononoke
Hayao Miyazaki is an ingenious Japanese animator and film director, and has created many
beloved masterpieces that are both visually enchanting and rich in meaning. Also known as the
Japanese Walt Disney , Miyazaki has won numerous awards, for films including Spirited Away,
Laputa: Castle In The Sky and My Neighbour Totoro. Each of his movies have messages integrated
into the storyline that delve into deeper issues relating to the current world and society. Princess
Mononokeis no exception and the intentions, choices and influences of Miyazaki are instrumental
to understanding his creation.
Unlike Miyazaki s usual entertainment first, lessons second approach, Princess Mononoke was
produced to inspire people to think about the issues within the film. In Princess Mononoke,
Miyazaki explores themes such as the environment and the conflict between humans and nature,
and pacifism.
Environmentalism is often depicted in Miyazaki s films, due to his belief that people are intended
to live amongst nature. The basis of Princess Mononoke is centered around the forest, which is
alive and thriving despite the growing threat of industrilisation. Throughout the movie, beautiful
and enchanting Japanese landscapes are shown, with clear signs of life (such as the Kodama
spirits) in the forest. Kodama spirits are known in Japanese folklore to inhabit the trees, and if one

Anthropometric Factors: Are fast bowlers born or made?

Decades have passed and the debate continues. This discussion is not limited to fast bowling but
applies to general skill acquisition as a whole.
Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back injury
prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to bowling speeds. This
limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which provide a synthesis of arguments from
different papers rather than using a dataset to deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated
with conducting experiments with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small
number of observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in
this area.
A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman or any other
type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of great significance to
generating high bowling speeds. This research will attempt to identify the most important
anthropometric factors and how well those possibly explain the difference(s) in bowling speeds. To
date, little or no attempt has been made to classify anthropometric factors vis Г vis fast bowlers as
either genetic or environmental. Furthermore, research has drawn a line between genetic and
environmental factors and has not considered the two as interdependent.

Tony Kushner s Angels
In Angels in America, Tony Kushner s characters suffer through loss of health, life, and love.
Colossal suffering and grief eventually lead to discovery and growth. The main quartet of
characters Louis Ironson, Prior Walter, Joe and Harper Pitt have many differences, but, aside
from their grief, a common characteristic allows for their conjoined relevancy. Each is a member
of a group that is somehow marginalized in their society, whether it stems from their sexuality,

I refer to Louis, Prior, Joe, and Harper as the quartet characters because of the intertwining and
simultaneous similarities and dissimilarities of their stories. These elements create a melodic
rhythm in the plays narrative and dialogue, which resembles the improvisatory style , that is
necessary of musical fantasias. Written in conversational language, none of the dialogue sounds
rehearsed, but rather like the characters are real people whose conversations were recorded by an
eavesdropper. The pages of the play read like an imitation of life, much like fantasias are
imitations of melodies. Each character has a different rhythm and style when they speak that
creates quick paced communication, much like the harmonies in a musical piece. If music appears
to mimic some of the features of language and to convey some of the same emotions that vocal
communication does, then, transitively, language mimics features of music. Louis is the rambler
of the symphony. Using high level vocabulary, he is often discussing profound ideas that other
characters are not interested in hearing. For example, after leaving Prior in the hospital room,
Louis and Belize sit conversing in a coffee shop. Louis tackles issues of race and democracy in
America and England, until Belize finally admits that he was

Stronger Kanye West Analysis
In his Grammy award winning song Stronger, voice of our generation Kanye West eloquently
raps I know I got to be right now, cause I can t get much wronger. Though his statement in
context refers to his longing for love, it can be interpreted in a way that emphasizes a blind
assumption of correctness. In his words, West speaks in a contradictory fashion, in that he, as a
person, cannot get much wronger, so he must be right. In doing this, West blurs the line between
socially constructed definitions of right and wrong, raising the question, are humans truly capable
of being able to differ between these two concepts? Related to the ideas posed by Stronger, Don

Acting on Murray s idea that killing could be a solution to alleviate the fear of death, Gladney
decides to kill Willie Mink, distributor of Babette s Dylar, thinking to himself while on the way,
transient pleasures, drastic measures (290). Acting on his fear of death, Gladney seems to be
cognizant of his plans, able to discern the drastic moral implications of them; he consciously
chooses to go with them, also seeing them as a transient pleasure, something that can temporarily
alleviate his fear. The order of the phrase itself reflects Gladney s internal moral conflict, as it
quickly switches from a tone of brief happiness to one of desperation, emphasizing how even he
is unsure about how he truly feels. In portraying Gladney in this situation as paradoxically
introspective, DeLillo criticizes the obsession with the concept of death, emphasizing the fact
that Gladney is willing to breach moral extremes in order to satisfy his own perceived fear. This
willingness to do literally anything in order to satisfy an obsession with the abstract is an
inherently ridiculous concept, primarily because of the irrationality of doing so. After shooting
Mink and being shot back at, Gladney looks at him in a new light, with the restoration of the
normal order... I felt I was seeing him for the first time as a person (299). Even though he had shot
Mink just moments before, Gladney suddenly assumes an uncharacteristically benevolent
personality. Unable to even keep in check his feelings and emotions, Gladney is under the
assumption that everything is back to normal, where he believes he can finally see Mink as a
person. This extremely sudden shift in character represents nothing more than the extent of
Gladney s fear of death, as he is willing to accept simply

Musical Theatre History
The collaboration of musical theatre combines the drama aspect and plots of stage plays while
adding musical components. The plot and a variety of emotions including love, passion, anger,

This, and other British ballad operas, ballets and pantomimes, formed the majority of musicals
offered on American stages in the beginning of the 1800 s. The roots of the music we know
today can be dated back to the French and Viennese operettas. Operettes are light musical
comedies that would often provide broad satire and wit to the stage, combined with bright
melodies and high energy. These would be the blueprint for all musical theatre to come. The
Black Crook was the first piece to fit modern musicals. The play premiered in 1866 in New York
City and was a staggering success. Once the modern musical was developed there was more
opportunity for theoretical advances. Broadway saw its fair share of musicals during the 1890 s
and the number continued to grow during the 20th century. The theatre experienced a boom in
business with the start of World War I; given the devastation of the battlefield audiences flocked to
the stages in order to get some escapism. As the 20th century continued musical theatre began to
grow in popularity and quality. The public ruled heavily in favor of musicals, so the 1980s brought
a succession of long running Brit hits to Broadway, such as Cats, Les Miserables, Phantom of the
Opera and Miss Saigon.

ice had all melted and absorbed into the paper towel I could see that the ice cube had either broke
through the paper towel, absorbed fully into the paper towel or leaked though in some spots. When
I was finished looking over what had happened, I wrote down the results and everything all of my
observations.
The first brand that I decided to start with was Scott. Scott brand claims to have fast absorbing
ridges. I bought a package of ninety six one ply sheets for a $1.69. I figured out that each sheet
costs around 0.018 cents. The paper towel sheets individually are 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. The
Scott brand held up pretty well with the ice cube. The ice cube did not break through or rip the
paper towel. The paper towel was fully wet and absorbed the entire red ice cube. None of the red
water leaked through. I feel that the Scott brand has passed the test.
The second brand that I tested was Giant Eagles Clean n Tuff . This brand claims to be strong and
absorbent. I paid eighty nine cents for a ninety six 2 ply sheet roll. The sheets had the dimensions
of 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. Each sheet costs around 0.0092 cents. After the ice cube finished
melting I observed what happened and found that the paper towel absorbed the water with no

When students feel excluded or not part of, academic achievement decreases (Brown, 2007). The
importance of a positive student to teacher relationship is critical in order for students to succeed
and find themselves fit in the world of academia (Anderson, Nelson, Richardson, Web, Young,
2011). Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on
barriers to student achievement. Anderson et al., (2011) goes on to suggest that there is a direct
correlation between student behavior, positive or negative, and the teacher s relationship with a
student. When considering this, it must be understood that the relationship between the student and
teacher, whether positive or negative, contribute to students academic outcomes and sense of
belonging.

The Effects Of Water On The Water Of Water Essay
Water is a very important resource, every life depends on fresh water to survive. There are three per
cent of fresh water of the world s water and all life on earth can only depends on half of it. Water
has become a very fragile resources because, people have damaged the water bodies badly from the
use of chemicals, irrigationto household. Consequently, these reasons have severely affected the
water, the environment and many lives on earth.
Industrial wastes link to a significant cause of damaging waterbodies. It associates with the
building of the dams and the chemicals waste from the industries. Dams have built to generate
electricity for cities, but it also blocks the water flow of the rivers. For example, the dam that was
built in West Africa in the Volta Riverblocked the river s annual flows of up to 4 times (Middleton,
2012). Additionally, Industries sometimes do not store their chemical substances carefully and it
might drip into the river, whereas some industries directly eject the used chemical straight into the
waterbodies. For example, the Taiwanese government suggest that many big industries have
expelled 100 tons of untreated liquid chemical substance by pouring it into one of the island s
longest rivers, the Kaoping (Agoramoorthy Hsu, 2000). The chemicals substances that damage
waterbodies are not just comes from the industrial wastes, however it also related to the chemicals
use in agriculture and from household.

Summary And Background Of Stryker Corporation
Summary and Background Currently, Stryker Corporation is in a law suit centered on patent
infringement with their competitor, Zimmer Corporation. The case which will be analyzed and
explored is currently pending hearing by the Supreme Court. The current questions that the
petitioners, Stryker, are asking of the Supreme Court are as follows: 1. Has the Federal Circuit
improperly abrogated the plain meaning of 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 by forbidding any award of
enhanced damages unless there is a finding of willfulness under a rigid, two part test, when this
Court recently rejected an analogous framework imposed on 35 U.S.C. В§ 285, the statute
providing for attorneys fee awards in exceptional cases? 2. Does a district court have discretion
under 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 to award enhanced damages where an infringer intentionally copied a
direct competitor s patented invention, knew the invention was covered by multiple patents, and
made no attempt to avoid infringing the patents on that invention? (SCOTUS Blog, 2015) Stryker
is petitioning the Supreme Court to explore these questions, because prior to Supreme Court
filing, there had been a series of lawsuits and appeals between the plaintiff, Stryker, and
defendants, Zimmer. The preliminary suit was focused on infringement of pulse lavage medical
devices. Stryker and Zimmer are the two main developers and manufacturers of this medical

Florence Nightingale Contribution
Florence Nightingale has long been considered the mother of modern nursing. Despite the social
barriers placed before women during the 1800s, something in Florence s character allowed her to
rise that few could have foreseen. Many influential figures in the past have pondered on the idea of
greatness. As Thomas Carlyle once stated, The history of the world is but the biography of great
men. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale
shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Connecting
some of the pivotal points in the life of this great woman will lend a fuller picture to our own
history, as well as our own formation.
Florence Nightingales father imbued a progressive and philanthropic ideology within Florence from
a young age. Fortunately for Florence, her father was very much in support of education for
women, as well as their advancement within society. Her father taught her, as well as her sister,
music; grammar; composition; modern languages; classical Greek and Latin; constitutional history

Additionally, her father seemed to place great emphasis on critical and experimental thinking.
Florence s penchant for independence in this regard is exemplified in the sketch drawn by her aunt,
Julia Smith, which depicts Florence with her sister, Parthenope, as well as her father walking down
the street. Whereas

The Impact Of Alexander I On Russia
Alexander I was the Tsar at the time Napoleon marched his Grand Army of more than 600,000 men
into Russia during June of 1812. The Russians called this war the Patriotic War due to the strong
resistance and outstanding endurance that ensued by the entirety of the population. The Russians
retreated for much of the war and the French advanced at a quick and efficient pace, conquering
much of Russiaon the way to Moscow. Napoleon was under the impression that once Moscow had
been captured and occupied, the Tsar would capitulate. However, this was not the case.
On September 14, 1812, what is now known as the Fire of Moscow broke out. The majority of
historians attribute the initial fired to the Russian army as a form of sabotage. Вѕ of the

Worldcom Essay
Business Environment and the Industry Industry Specific Challenges WorldCom was a supplier
for long distance phone services to many businesses and residents. It started out as a minor
business knows as Long Distance Discount Services (LDDS) that developed into the third
biggest telecommunications business in the United States dues to the managing of CEO Bernie
Ebbers. There were 85,000 workers at its highest with an existence in more than 65 countries.
The loss of MCI/WorldCom was the direct result of the behavior of WorldCom s senior
managers. The telecommunications industry merged further as Verizon acquired MCI
/WorldCom and SBC Communications acquired AT T Corporation. (Eichenwald, 2002) The
wrinkle effect of WorldCom s end goes far beyond one specific company and several senior
managers. It had an intense effect on the entire industry. In 2002 WorldCom confirmed their
bankruptcy, and in April 2004, WorldCom came out of bankruptcy and was known as MCI.
Everyone worked hard to fix the financials and to reorganize the company. The new CEO
(Michael Capellas) and CFO (Robert Blakely) had to deal with the overwhelming task of
resolving the company s outstanding debt of $35 billion. Using over 500 WorldCom employees,
over 200 employees of the company were outside auditors, KPMG, and 600 people from Deloitte
Touch. From careless and fake accounting, auditors found two significant new details of data that
only aided to the fraud at WorldCom. One, WorldCom

The Breath Of Other People Killed Them
Throughout the eighteenth century great strides were being made in the medical field regarding
the understanding of disease, biology, and public health. With the contributions of scientists,
doctors, and researchers the overall health of the ever growing population in the eighteenth century
began to improve dramatically. By the early nineteen hundreds, life expectancy had risen to about
55 years. The introduction and understanding of antiseptics, sterilization, and etiology and
discoveries of Pasteur, Lister, and Koch invoked a rise against disease which lead to a rise in life
expectancy. All throughout history humans have had to face disease in all of its many different
forms. This forced them to develop many different ways of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of
Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from
place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to
develop pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to
kill bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way
to weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of
Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an
operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with
heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question
would have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the
surgical field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical
procedures, decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just
reduce postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth
a less risky process for both women and their children.
Another scientist that lead to great reform in the medical community, science, and public health

Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay
Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation
The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations
considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners
with lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the
birth process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005:
McInnes et al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding
breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations
with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with
breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed.
In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers
found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with
breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009;
Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at
all levels of intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. (2013) noted, even in a population study that
was based on respondents who wanted to breastfeed, and sought professional help for problems
while breastfeeding.
Intention is also linked to the expected success of breastfeeding, as indicated by Attanasio et al.

A Hairstylist s Day Essay
I see my weekly client come in and sit on my chair. The usual , he tells me casually. I nod my head
and begin to pick up my clippers. Before I know it I see a line of eager people anxiously waiting to
hear the words Who s next? Yeah, it s a tough job but somebody has to keep the clients looking
their best. That is why I decided to become a hairstylist. The idea of cutting hair has always been a
dream for me ever since I was a small child growing up. I would take my Barbie dolls and pretend I
was a hairstylist and created all sorts of peculiar and weird hairstyles. I mean lets face it; my motive
for cutting hair is to revamp people so they can feel confident about themselves on the outside as
well as in the inside.

I can expect a crowd of people around the time of noon to 3 P.M. This is when red tickets are
issued with numbers on them and customers are waiting to be called. The public can be
described as raunchy, vulgar, and rude at times. Strangely, I seem to enjoy what I do. In my
eyes, I see myself as an artist and each individual that takes a seat in my chair is a piece of work
ready to be turned into a masterpiece. I create a visual before cutting the hair. I look at the anatomy
of the head and decide what type of haircut will fit with the head. This makes a major difference
because the aftermath of the haircut determines whether or not the haircut fits the person. I like to
see satisfied faces at the end of each cut, trim, style or shave. Fortunately there are days that can be
better than others.
For instance, when a customer comes into my shop and asks me to create an impossible hairstyle
such as a French twist up do with drop curls, I try my best to make this happen. Although in my
eyes I see this as almost impossible, my motive is to give the customers what they want so they
will be happy and satisfied. This will also encourage them to come back for another haircut
knowing they left with a positive experience from my salon. Sometimes trying to be too perfect
can have its downfalls. I remember a day when a young lady came into my shop and asked me for
a pretty funky cut and style. Being the honest person that I am, I simply told her that particular
hairstyle

Write An Essay On Coqui Frog
Invasive and Dangerous: The Coqui Frog Recently, an invasive and lilliputian frog has had a
detrimental effect on the Hawaiian environment. Originally from Puerto Rico, the amphibian
arrived in Hawaii and spread like a plague. Such a small frog cannot have that big of an impact,
right? Wrong. The Coqui frogis a damaging invasive speciesof the Hawaiian islands due to its lack
of natural predators and adaptability, dangerous eating habits, and its easy distribution among the
state. One reason the Coqui Frog is especially harmful to Hawaiis many ecosystems is because they
are adaptable and have no natural predators. For example, the Hawaii Invasive Species Council
states the frog has No natural predators to keep populations in check (and no natural competitors),

According to the Hawaii Invasive Species Council, Coqui frogs do not travel very far on their
own, but when given the chance to hop on a nursery plant, flowers, or vehicle, they can quickly
spread. Most coqui arrive on new islands through infested nursery plants and flowers. Intra island,
coqui travel by the movement of plants by humans and may hitch a ride on vehicles (Coqui). In
other words, the frog will latch on to a variety of human transportations and expand their
boundaries. Furthermore, Coquis are nocturnal, so the dissemination of the frogs is partially
affiliated with the motion and relocation of various house plants (Plant). Residents of Hawaii are
evidently a large reason the frog has the ability to grow in numbers and located across the state.
Some people when coming across the frog relocate and release it, spreading the frog an even
farther distance (which it is illegal to provide transportation to the amphibians) (Plant).
Consequently, the frog populations are growing and will continue, unless residents of Hawaii are
cooperative in reducing the spread of the

My Dad s Sneeze
Throughout my essay I used metaphors and comparisons to expand on certain ideas. When
attempting to give the reader a better understanding of my dad s sneeze I described the
beginning as a wind up to the main event and continued to call it a firework exploding. The
purpose of these comparisons was to allow the reader a better understanding of the power behind
something as simple as a sneeze. Also, by using these comparisons I was able to vary my word
choice, thus making my essaymore appealing to the reader.
Imagery was used in my essay to evoke thought and emotion from the reader. To better describe my
dad s sneeze I stated that it seconds a herd of elephants tumbling through the African desert . Most

Analysis Of A Draughtsman Drawing A Portrait By Albrecht...
In the 1968 art exhibition Cybernetic Serendipity L. D. Harmon and K. C. Knowlton take a simple
picture of two birds flying in the sky and computer generated the photography by converting
electrical signals into numerical representations on magnetic tape, this then provides a digital
version of the photo to be used in computer processing. The photo is divided into fragments where
its generated by numbers. The photo is given a density that s shown by different shades of dots that
creates the computer generated photograph. In close range, you can see each separate shaded dot
which makes up the photo. At 20 30 feet, away from the overall computer generated photograph
you are able to conduct the figure that once was an original photograph.
The modernist work I chose was A draughtsman drawinga portrait by Albrecht Durer. Albrecht
Durer was one of the many modernist yet abstract. I chose this Modernist work because Durer is
abstract and he uses perception is a great deal of his art works. Albrecht Durer s artworks were
very diverse and vibrant, they also included modern ways of creativity and originality. Durer was
a huge example of originality which made his drawing A draughtsman drawing a portrait so
spectacular because it had never been seen before. This drawing represented a way to draw
people exactly as they are seen in real life, as three dimensional. The artist as shown in the drawing
using Durer s drawing machine, would draw specific lines that were accurate

The Court For Hear Death Penalty Cases
Court cases are heard on the first Monday of October all the way to late June or early July unless
otherwise decided by the court. In any court system, state or federal, certain requirements must
be met before a case can be brought before a court. (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes 274) Two of which
are jurisdiction; the authority of the court to hear and decide a case, and standing to sue; an actual
reason to bring to court. Surprisingly the Supreme Court cases have no right of appeal. The court
tends to choose which cases it will decide and there never really is a full explanation on why one
was chosen over another.
In the article, Supreme Court to Hear Death Penalty Cases, in The New York Times; Adam Liptak
talks about two different death penalty cases to be heard in October 2016. Case number 15 8049,
Buck v. Stephens, is to be heard over whether or not race should one of the factors associated with
future dangerousness. Buck, an African Americanmale, was convicted for killing his former
girlfriend and her friend, in front of her children. Buck is being sentenced for the death penalty
because Texas law allows that if prosecutors can show that you pose a future danger to society you
may be sentenced to death. Dr. Walter Quijanos testimony in the trials sentencing phase said It s a
sad commentary that minorities, Hispanics and black people, are overrepresented in the criminal
justice system. (Liptak, NYT) In the petition for the Supreme Court to review, Bucks new lawyer

What is corporate strategy? Corporate strategy is a complete plan of action encompassing all the
activities and functions performed by business firms. The plan covers all the objectives of the
company related to the allocation of resources and coordination among different levels. Corporate
Strategy as a framework began to be developed in the 60 s and the 70 s where for the first time
companies had to think in a systematic and integrated way about their costs, competitors and their
customers. In the mid 80 s and beginning of 90 s, corporate strategy started to focus on process
engineering, re engineering, thinking more systematically about world wide expansion and
therefore globalisation but at the same time it also focused on a more granular aspect and migrated
down to the industry by industry. Nowadays, corporate strategy is about participating in different
business units and is defined as a process of diversification across structurally different industries. It
is about participating in multiple businesses grouped under a corporate parent and creating common

Rubiks Cube
How many of you have ever tried to solve this? I wouldn t be wrong if I say all of you, once in your
lives have tried to solve it, and I do know that you all tried to answer questions you didn t know.
What if I said the secret of the future is in a Rubiks Cube? Since the beginning of humanity
people ask themselves Where did I came from? , What am I doing where? and Where am I going?
and after all of these years we still did not know, or we only thingwe don`t know. Somethings are
just so complex that we stop trying to achieve when they actually could be easier than you think.
Trying something new or unknown to us is always a difficult task. The oldest and strongest
emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
People need to label things, and who doesn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not being in control means not being in charge of the outcome of whatever it is inside that box,
and this is why we are so scared about facing the unknown. Now, try to imagine this cube as the
Unknown. You don t know how to solve it, you don`t know how it works, but someway, if you
view it from a different angle, you can find its pattern and give it a meaning. Put it in a box .
When dealing with faceless things, always imagine them as things you already know and try to fit
them in a box you already have. Keep in mind that things usually are much easier than they seem
and giving up should always be the last circumstance. Replace the fear of the unknown with
curiosity. It is part of the process of evolution facing the faceless, and if you don t take risks you
will never find yourself, or find meanings for your life. I am not saying that it is easy, but it is
necessary. Get out of the box and try new things. The unknown is a door for something different,
and maybe if you open it, you will find a whole new world of experiences. The future is the
unknown, and the only secret to achieve it is to take risks and never stop trying.

  • 2. Dulce Et Decorum Est Propaganda Dulce Et Decorum Est is an anti war poem, written by a soldier in the british army during World War 1, who ended up being one of the leading poets of the first world war. In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est , Wilfred Owen uses diction to evoke grotesque imagery that portrays the true horrors of the WWI battlefield in contrast to the blind patriotism promoted by propaganda. There is a great presence of juxtaposition used throughout the poem as a way to emphasise contrasts between war and propaganda and to touch on a greater idea of the contradicting issues presented by the battlefield. For instance, there is a significant contrast between the title, Dulce Et Decorum Est, meaning it is sweet and honorable to die for one s country, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The provision of basic accommodation, in times past, consisting only of a room with a bed, a cupboard, a small table and a washstand has largely been replaced by rooms with modern facilities. As internet technology has improved, so have reservation systems. Today, it is possible through online, to make a reservation for a hotel anywhere in the world. Hotels can create Web site and post new content on it every day. Dagupan Garden and Dagupan Village Hotels are twin hotels nestled in a calm suburban area of Dagupan City away from the hustle and activity of the city s main commercial and business center. The... CHAPTER 2 THE EXISTING SYSTEM 2.1 Overview of the Existing System In this chapter the proponents will discuss about the existing system, the traditional way of reserving a room and event on a hotel. In able to reserve, the guest will make reservations through a phone call. This traditional way of making reservations does not provide convenience for the guest. Through phone calls occasionally the guest and the reserving clerk don t understand each other and no clear conversations. The information from the guest will not be accurately recorded in the registry form. Another way of reserving a room and event is through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Osteoporosis In Japanese Americans Osteoporosis Although there are many diseases that Japanese Americans suffer more from than mainland or Hawaiian Japanese, Osteoporosis is a disease that Japanese Americans suffer more from than other ethnic groups. Osteoporosis is a disease where the body looses too much bone proteins or doesn t make enough which causes the bones to become weak which can be considered also as low bone mineral density (BMD)(https://www.nof.org/patients/what is osteoporosis). This result can cause things like hip fractures and shortened height, which are common occurrences in Japanese Americans as they age. Japanese Americans in addition also experience the lowest BMD which is one of the reasons they probably have the highest rate of Osteoporosis. In particular, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Japanese Americans tend to be more work oriented and lead less of a physical lifestyle, resulting in less movement and strain on the spine and hips. Japanese Americans also tend to be more lactose intolerant, resulting in calcium deficiency and a lower bone density. Lactose Intolerance also creates a issue among women, who rely on healthy fats throughout menopause in order to produce efficient estrogen and conserve bone density. In a study an increase of surgically induced menopause has been seen in Japanese American women, with a mean age of the menopause seen being now seen at the age of 51.5 compared to the 55.5 of native Japanese women. • 5. Janie As A Woman The novel presents a story of an African American woman, Janie Crawford. It shows her struggle in which she fights for acceptance and a sense of security. Throughout the novel, her growth into womanhood is presented. At the beginning, Janie is depicted as a shy and withdrawn woman who is not inclined to speak about her emotions and feelings. Her voice is often stifled, and, as a result, she remains unheard and unnoticed. She feels that her community ignores her. She could not define herself as a woman, and, in turn her inner self is not integral (Fard Zarrinjooee, 2014). Miller writes that Janie`s character can be considered as a canonical figure from the feminism`s point of view because of the fact that she wants to free herself from men`s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only in this way can she manage to gain her self actualization (Miller, 2004). In the course of time, Janie becomes a self confident woman. Importantly, because of her experiences, she learns that, in order to fight for her own happiness; she has to make her voice heard. In their article, Fard and Zarrinjooee state that in the course of time, the protagonist begins to accept her blackness (2014: 94). This argument coincides with the following passage in the novel in which Janie refers to her skin color and her identity: Where is me? Ah Don`t see me and Ah`m colored (Their Eyes Were Watching God, 1990: 9). In the novel, this transition is symbolized by means of a recurrent symbol the mule which refers to the moments of speech and silence. Whenever Janie remains silent, the image of the mule appears, while in the moments in which she takes action the mule disappears (Haurykiewicz, 1997:46). Before the close analysis, it is worth focusing here on the symbolism in the novel. As a matter of fact, the mule does not appear in Their Eyes Were Watching God for the first time. There are two short stories published by Hurston before the novel in which the mule functions as a symbol: The Bone of Contention and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Workplace Conflict Resolution – a Case Study Workplace Conflict Resolution A Case Study Posted on October 13, 2009 Leaders frequently face situations where conflict arises in the workplace and they re called upon to resolve the situation. Although conflict is not generally regarded as a positive experience it actually can be a key opportunity to create change that will reduce friction in the workplace. We can begin to defuse conflict by understanding what it is and implementing some practical strategies to manage it. Conflict is a natural part of the workplace experience; people do not see eye to eye on everything and often dig in and defend their positions. Conflict arises when individuals do not see the world in the same way. The trap we fall into is assuming that conflict... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom has tried everything he knows to smooth things out but the two still spar frequently. This chronic pattern has led to disciplinary action by Tom and complaints to human resources by Tina. Both parties are productive employees who love the company and their jobs but do not know how to move beyond all this conflict. Tom realizes that in order to build an effective team he has to have Tina on board but he doesn t know how to do it. He knows that by using Tina s skills and energy he will look better and the company will benefit. But how to do it? Following our common sense approach Tom asks Tina to sit down and talk. It s important to mention first that managers benefit greatly by putting in place some key elements that lead to successful conversations such as meeting at a mutually convenient time, no distractions or interruptions allowed, no agendas, a calm environment and unrestricted time to talk. When we set up an environment conducive to relaxed conversation we create a greater likelihood of success. A small investment in time up front to talk in depth can more than make up for the countless lost hours and cost devoted to ongoing conflict. They begin the conversation and together they discover that one issue at hand is that Tina prefers to work with less supervision. • 7. Film Adaptation Of Bram Stoker s Dracula Bram Stoker s frightening tale of Count Dracula has struck horror into the hearts of many since it was originally penned. In 1987, Bram Stoker wrote the revolutionary tale Dracula that played off the fears of the people of the era. The plot and characters that make the novel great also translate nearly perfectly to cinematic adaptations. Starting in the early 1900 s, directors have done their best to portray the terror that the original novel inspired. Francis Ford Coppolas Bram Stoker s Draculawas released in 1992 and follows the book s storyline very closely. However, to appeal to his generations ideals on relationships and sex, Coppola made some changes to the plot; however, many of the characters and themes are kept intact. He also... This is much different form the novel version of the Count, who Harker describes as a monster will wants to satiate his lust for blood, and create a new and ever widening circle of semi demons to batten on the helpless (Stoker 53) Another difference that is different in Dracula s film version is how he is killed. In the book, Harker slits his throat after a climatic chase and battle, and immediately turns to dust (Stoker 325). This battle still occurs in Coppola s version; however, he is eventually killed by Mina and the act is seen as one of compassion and kindness. Stoker does not explore this idea in his novel. Stoker does not explore this idea in the novel, as doing so would have taken away from the frightening, undead character that he was trying to create. This is not to say that Coppola was wrong to go this route, however, only that the perception of vampires had shifted and he needed something to fit along with this shift. On top of this, Coppola also decided to make his movie much more erotic portrayal of many characters in the film. This starts with the brides, who have a much more sexual way of approaching Jonathan than in the book. The sexual tone continues into how Lucy is depicted in the film. San Clemente Island Essay The study was carried out in San Clemente Island (SCI; 118В° 30 W, 33В° 00 N), the southernmost of the California Channel Islands, located approximately 109 km west of San Diego, California (Fig. XX). The SCI is under the administration and management of U.S. Navy and is not open to civilians, except by the permission of the naval authorities. The island covers 14,764 ha (147.64 km2) area extending 34 km north south and ranges in width from 2.5 6.5 km. The diverse topography of the island (a steeply sloping eastern side and gently sloping marine terraces of western side), is the result of tectonic and climatic dynamics (Raab and Yatsko 2009), which produce a greater spatial variability in temperature, wind, rainfall, and fog (Moody 2000). The island experiences an arid Mediterranean type climate characterised by cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers. It receives an average of 130 mm of rainfall annually (U.S. Dept. of the Navy 2002) with most precipitation (95%) between November and April, the wet season (Yoho et al. 1999). Temperatures are relatively moderate throughout the year with average mean summer and winter temperatures of 18В°C and 14В°C, respectively. Soil are predominantly clayey and fine loamy with Vertisols morphology (Muhs et al. 2007). Aileen s Legacy The British invasion of Australia has unfortunately had multiple negative impacts on all Indigenous Australians, and additionally has created historic legacies that frequently effect the way in which people perceive, and work with Indigenous peoples. One of the historic legacies evident throughout Aileen s case is the horrific occurrence of the stolen generation. One of the most profound consequences of colonisation, involving the removal of Aboriginal children from their families into missions, reserves or other institutions (Dudgeon, Wright, Paradies, Garvey Walker, n.d.). A stadium subsidy is a sort of government subsidy provided for a professional sports team to help invest in the building or improvement of sports stadiums. Even though these subsidies are occurring that does not mean that they are good. As a matter of fact they do more harm than good to the economy of the area the stadium is built in. This situation brings in taxes, business collapse, and really no solid evidence after research has been done on the economic boost of these stadium subsides. As the area by the stadium may flourish other parts of the city could be kicked out of business. Also no matter if the sports franchise is a winning franchise, the more distance the sports stadium is from the main part of town, there is more of a chance of economic collapse (Jacobson 25). It is very hard to have a flourishing city all around if one side of town is getting the majority of business. If a city plans to have a better economy, building a new sports stadium is not the way to go. Most of the time the stadiums do not work out economically. That does not mean that stadiums can not work out in a city but just that the fact that the city will not become rich off of this introduction of a stadium (Jacobson 23). There are a lot of sports cities that struggle because of new stadiums coming into their community and a lot of businesses that have gone out of business because of this. The government should stop giving out this free money to big money franchises. Lastly there have been studies all over to test and see the value or nonvalue of

  • 12. Implementing Mandatory Council Meeting Of All Plc Teams One thing that is a for certain in education is changes will take place. Education mirrors the world we live in, and that is, change is inevitable. However, this process is not always accepted by the entire staff of a school and may be found burdensome to others. As a teacher leader, when certain changes in the schooltake place regarding a rule, the entire staff needs to come together to ensure the rule is being implemented and enforced. One such change that is happening at my school is the once a week mandatory meeting of all PLC teams. The decision to implement mandatory PLC meetings did not go over well with all teachers. When a school makes a rule or policy change, there are parts of the organization, such as the political, human resource, and cultural perspective that feel the effect. I am part of a vast school district in Texas. I understand that this rule change about PLC meetings came from school leaders that are higher up in the organizational structure, and moved down the chain of command from the principals to the teachers. Understanding the structure of an organization is critical for the organization to move forward (Laureate Education, Inc., 2007). My district believes and supports the different PLC teams in the school district. At the start of this year, the entire staff was told by the principal that all PLC teams need to meet once a week, and all minutes of the meeting need to be documented and emailed to administration. In my opinion, I thought this was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the play, Blanche is regularly mentioning light, and the significance of it. Although this is a film with no colour, the use of light is very visually prominent. The use of light appears as a deceiving disguise that Blanche uses to shape her image. She aspires to be an elegant, youthful person when in fact, her beauty is fading, and she has lost all sense of reality. The film has a major emphasis on the use of light in scene nine, where Mitch rushes into Blanches apartment with the intent of an interrogation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Conflict Between The Conflict And Supporting Evidence Have you ever been a part of a conflict? Perhaps the conflict existed in your home because you want your children to do chores, but your spouse disagrees, or perhaps you have had a conflict in the workplace where a co worker, no matter what you said was always in disagreement with you. Whether at home or work, it is best to resolve conflictas both instances, the conflict could create an uneasy situation at home or in the workplace and could result in people being hurt, work not be accomplished or even a physical altercation. Therefore, it is recommended that instead of allowing conflict to remain, that instead the conflict is resolved For that reason I will describe a conflict within an organization or team which I am familiar with, identify and describe the source(s) and level of the conflict and supporting evidence, describe the steps taken to resolve the conflict, describe a minimum of three conflict outcomes that could reasonably occur as a result of the resolution and the support for my reasoning for each possible outcome. First I will begin with a basic description of conflict. Conflict, in my opinion, is when a disagreement occurs between two or more people, someone having an opposing view or even an internal conflict such as should I eat the entire box of cookies , just to name a few. In fact, according to Baack (2012), conflict is circumstances in which one party negatively affects or seeks to negatively affect another party (Sec. 7.3). What this means ... H amp;M differs from Zara because it outsources all of the production, it is more price oriented and spends more money on advertising. By owning all the stores and manufacturing sites it is able to achieve control over all production processes and costs. The high number of stores may be also traced back to the increasing value of the property because Zara only buys stores in strategic areas (shopping malls, shopping arcades, pedestrian districts etc.) where competition boosts rents. Therefore total assets of Zara increase as well. To sum up from the given information Inditex is more efficient in managing its finances. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plants are the major source of vitamin B6 for animals, yet the biosynthesis pathway and the function of vitamin B6 in plants are not well elucidated. In this study, an Arabidopsis pyridoxine synthase gene PDX1 was characterized and its in vivo functions were investigated. The PDX1 gene was expressed in all plant parts examined and its expression level was not significantly regulated by abiotic stress or the phytohormone abscisic acid. In roots, PDX1 was highly expressed in a defined region behind the root tips that undergoes rapid cell division. The PDX1 protein was mainly associated with the plasma membrane and endomembranes, implying a potential involvement of vitamin B6 in membrane function. To reveal the in vivo role of PDX1, Arabidopsis insertional mutants were isolated. Strikingly, the pdx1 knockout mutants were impaired in root growth and early seedling development. The stunted roots resulted from both reduced cell division and elongation. Supplementation of the growth media with pyridoxine or reintroduction of the wild type PDX1 gene into the mutants completely restored the mutant growth, demonstrating that PDX1 is required for pyridoxine biosynthesis in planta. In addition to the developmental defects, pdx1 mutants are hypersensitive to osmotic stress and oxidative stress. These mutant seedlings had increased peroxidation of membrane lipids following UV treatment. Our study establishes a

I know that some of the verses that I quoted form the play can be interpreted differently so I would definitely like to get your take on those quotes that I cited that you feel may have a deeper meaning or interpretation altogether. The Cathedral defines what it really means to be blind . First, being the blind man who literally cannot see because he is disabled. And then what it means to be emotionally blind like the narrator. The narrator possesses very shallow, ignorant, and careless qualities which then makes him form harsh prejudices upon people. And that s the root to his blinders. This discussion is not limited to fast bowling but applies to general skill acquisition as a whole. Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back injury prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to bowling speeds. This limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which provide a synthesis of arguments from different papers rather than using a dataset to deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated with conducting experiments with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small number of observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in this area. A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman or any other type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of great significance to generating high bowling speeds. The order of the phrase itself reflects Gladney s internal moral conflict, as it quickly switches from a tone of brief happiness to one of desperation, emphasizing how even he is unsure about how he truly feels. In portraying Gladney in this situation as paradoxically introspective, DeLillo criticizes the obsession with the concept of death, emphasizing the fact that Gladney is willing to breach moral extremes in order to satisfy his own perceived fear. Operettes are light musical comedies that would often provide broad satire and wit to the stage, combined with bright melodies and high energy. These would be the blueprint for all musical theatre to come. The Black Crook was the first piece to fit modern musicals. The play premiered in 1866 in New York City and was a staggering success. Once the modern musical was developed there was more opportunity for theoretical advances. The paper towel sheets individually are 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. The Scott brand held up pretty well with the ice cube. The ice cube did not break through or rip the paper towel. The paper towel was fully wet and absorbed the entire red ice cube. None of the red water leaked through. I feel that the Scott brand has passed the test. The second brand that I tested was Giant Eagles Clean n Tuff . This brand claims to be strong and absorbent. I paid eighty nine cents for a ninety six 2 ply sheet roll. The sheets had the dimensions of 27.9 by 27.9 centimeters. Each sheet costs around 0.0092 cents. After the ice cube finished melting I observed what happened and found that the paper towel absorbed the water with no tearing or dripping through at all. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When students feel excluded or not part of, academic achievement decreases (Brown, 2007). The importance of a positive student to teacher relationship is critical in order for students to succeed and find themselves fit in the world of academia (Anderson, Nelson, Richardson, Web, Young, 2011). Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on barriers to student achievement. Anderson et al., (2011) goes on to suggest that there is a direct correlation between student behavior, positive or negative, and the teacher s relationship with a student. When considering this, it must be understood that the relationship between the student and teacher, whether positive or negative, contribute to students academic outcomes and sense of belonging. The case which will be analyzed and explored is currently pending hearing by the Supreme Court. The current questions that the petitioners, Stryker, are asking of the Supreme Court are as follows: 1. Has the Federal Circuit improperly abrogated the plain meaning of 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 by forbidding any award of enhanced damages unless there is a finding of willfulness under a rigid, two part test, when this Court recently rejected an analogous framework imposed on 35 U.S.C. В§ 285, the statute providing for attorneys fee awards in exceptional cases? 2. Does a district court have discretion under 35 U.S.C. В§ 284 to award enhanced damages where an infringer intentionally copied a direct competitor s patented invention, knew the invention was covered by multiple patents, and made no attempt to avoid infringing the patents on that invention? (SCOTUS Blog, 2015) Stryker is petitioning the Supreme Court to explore these questions, because prior to Supreme Court filing, there had been a series of lawsuits and appeals between the plaintiff, Stryker, and defendants, Zimmer. The preliminary suit was focused on infringement of pulse lavage medical devices. Stryker and Zimmer are the two main developers and manufacturers of this medical device noted in the suit. • 42. Florence Nightingale Contribution Florence Nightingale has long been considered the mother of modern nursing. Despite the social barriers placed before women during the 1800s, something in Florence s character allowed her to rise that few could have foreseen. Many influential figures in the past have pondered on the idea of greatness. As Thomas Carlyle once stated, The history of the world is but the biography of great men. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Connecting some of the pivotal points in the life of this great woman will lend a fuller picture to our own history, as well as our own formation. Florence Nightingales father imbued a progressive and philanthropic ideology within Florence from a young age. Fortunately for Florence, her father was very much in support of education for women, as well as their advancement within society. Her father taught her, as well as her sister, music; grammar; composition; modern languages; classical Greek and Latin; constitutional history and Roman, Italian, German, and Turkish history; and mathematics (page 36). Additionally, her father seemed to place great emphasis on critical and experimental thinking. Florence s penchant for independence in this regard is exemplified in the sketch drawn by her aunt, Julia Smith, which depicts Florence with her sister, Parthenope, as well as her father walking down the street. One of the greatest breakthroughs in medicine occurred in the late eighteenth with the discovery of Louis Pasteur and his experiments regarding the growth of bacteria and their ability to travel from place to place. After countless years of research and analyzation, Pasteur used his findings to develop pasteurization (Haigh). Pasteurization is a process which involves heating certain liquids to kill bacteria and prevent fermentation. Pasteur also developed an anthrax vaccine along with a way to weaken the effects of the rabies virus. Using the work of Pasteur another scientist by the name of Joseph Lister developed antisepsis, a way of killing disease causing germs. In 1865 before an operation, Lister cleaned a leg wound with carbolic acid and performed the surgical procedure with heated instruments, heating the instruments sterilized them (Gieson). The patient in question would have needed an amputation if it was not for Lister sterilizing medical instruments and the surgical field. Eventually, Lister incorporated the use of sterilization in all of his surgical procedures, decreasing the amount of postoperative mortality. The use of antiseptics did not just reduce postoperative mortality it also helped out in the treatment of wounds and making childbirth a less risky process for both women and their children. • 47. Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation And Initiation Essay Breastfeeding Intention, Motivation and Initiation The small amount of breastfeeding intention research that exists focuses heavily on populations considered at risk, referring to those in economically disadvantaged areas or lower wage earners with lower educational backgrounds, often with lower maternal age and worse outcomes in the birth process (Cabieses et al., 2014; Declercq et al., 2014; Holbrook et al., 2013; Li et al., 2005: McInnes et al., 2001; Shaker et al., 2004). These studies show that women s attitudes regarding breastfeeding create strong motivators for the intent to breastfeed. Those with positive associations with breastfeeding are most likely to want to breastfeed and those with negative associations with breastfeeding are most likely to choose not to breastfeed. In studies where women were selected as the result of choosing not to breastfeed, researchers found heightened levels of expressed personal reasons that reflected negative associations with breastfeeding, including a lack of consistent education by hospital staff (Ogbuanu et al., 2009; Shaker et al., 2004; Wirihana Barnard, 2011). Education in mixed method feedings was lacking at all levels of intention to breastfeed, Geraghty et al. In other words, the frog will latch on to a variety of human transportations and expand their boundaries. Furthermore, Coquis are nocturnal, so the dissemination of the frogs is partially affiliated with the motion and relocation of various house plants (Plant). Residents of Hawaii are evidently a large reason the frog has the ability to grow in numbers and located across the state.
