Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Essay
Social Psychological Theories of Aggression
Social learning theorists propose that behaviour, such as aggression is learnt through observation,
imitation and behaviour shaping. This behaviour is learnt automatically through observation of
male and female role models, for example parents, peers and media characters. Whether or not this
behaviour is imitated depends on the type of reinforcement that the role model receives.
Vicarious reinforcement involves the outcome of a role models behaviour, for example if a child
observes a parent acting aggressively and receiving positive rewards for they are more like to be
imitate this behaviour in the future, than they would be if the role model ... Show more content on

This supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression as the children learnt through observation
of the role model, imitation of their behaviour and behaviour shaping. Also they received sweets
and praise as a form of positive vicarious reinforcement thus meaning that there was a chance of
repetition of the aggressive behaviour outside the laboratory setting. The vicarious reinforcement is
also a direct consequence that will have an effect on the chances of the child repeating the
behaviour. As if the child was punished they would have been less likely to act aggressively again.
On the other hand, it is possible to say that the children were manipulated into responding
aggressively towards the BoBo Doll as they were teased and may have become frustrated
because they could not touch the toys even though they had to watch the role models playing
however it is not actually stated how long the children remained aggressive for. The experiment
can be said to be unethical and morally wrong because the children were trained to be aggressive,
as they were probably not used to watching adults behave some immaturely. Also as the
experiment was preformed in a laboratory it therefore lacks eco logical validity, as it may not have
real life consequences.
Another study that supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression is Patterson et al (1989).

Similarities Between Samurai And American Knights
European Knights and Japanese Samurai Warriors The medieval time era, was one of many
wars, across almost every continent. From this two skilled and famous breeds of men formed.
They are known as the medieval knights of Europe and the feudal Samurai warriors of Japan.
Both groups of warriors had many similarities, but also their unique qualities. The following will
examine some of this common and not so common aspects. To begin, the classes of the two
warriors are very similar. Both existed in a society that followed a feudal system. In Europe the
King would grant lords land in exchange for loyalty. The lords would then grant knights land or
safe haven in exchange for their loyalty in battle. When war loomed on the horizon the knights
were expected to answer the call and defend the lord s property. Like wise in Japan the Shogun
would grant lords land and the lords would give the land to Samuraiin exchange for loyalty. The
Samurai also fought to protect their lord s holdings. The class of samurai and knightwas very
respected title. It brought honor to those warriormen.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both began their serious training at around age thirteen. The samurai would go to a special
training center. There they trained almost nonstop in martial arts, with a sword, and in the
demeanor. The goal was to become so that every move was second nature and natural. At age
thirteen knights started their training by becoming a squire to a lord. They would learn from the
lord and train in the arts of horseback riding, swordsmanship, and chivalry. At the age twenty they
would be granted the title of knight. The title of knight could also be passed from a father to his

Coach Thad Matta Research Paper
The Ohio State men s basketball team has had back to back disappointing seasons and most
people believe that head Coach Thad Matta should be fired from his job. Ohio State is a program
that over the last ten years has been accustomed to winning games and being at the top of the Big
Ten standings, and the last two years under coach Matta were not up to most fans standards. I
believe that Thad Matta should not be fired and that he will turn the program around if given more
time.
Thad Matta has been one of the most successful coaches in the country at his time at The Ohio
State University. Comparing him to Michigan State s head coach Tom Izzo, Thad Matta has a
higher winning percentage, more regular season conference championships, and more conference
tournament championships in his coaching career, which is also five years shorter than Izzo s,
according to sports refernces.com. Then if you compare Matta to the past Ohio State coaches he
easily surfaces into the top pair. Coach Matta is the winningest coach in Ohio State history
(Brown). When he was hired in 2004 the buckeyes basketball program was in the bottom of the Big
Ten conference. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ohio State was not a national powerhouse before Thad Matta got their, and he turned them into one
in less than three years. He has taken a school that is known for their great football teams and turned
them into a respectable basketball program in the Big Ten. Ohio State under Matta has had some
good runs into the NCAA tournament running the same offensive system they do now. The
problem with Ohio State is not their offense, it s on the defensive side of the court. When they were
making tournament runs into the final four they had great defensive players like guards Aaron

Menlo Park Research Paper
What if Menlo Park was never created? A park in Edison Township, located in northern central
Jersey, had land that was an unsuccessful estate development. This park was named after Menlo
Park in California, which later became the site that Thomas Edison would reside in. Thomas Edison
built not only his home, but his laboratory there too. This is the site that the phonograph and the
incandescent light bulbwere invented. If Menlo park estate development did not fail, then we could
have been without these inventions and technologies for many years after his time. Society would
most likely have been more delayed in our technology department throughout the years. What if

What Does August Wilson Symbolize In Fences
Many individuals have found themselves putting up fences in their lives metaphorically and
physically throughout their time being. In the play titled fences by August Wilson , some of its
key characters put up fences within their lives figuratively speaking. August wilson uses the
symbol of a fence in various occasions within the play. Characters lives mentioned change around
the fence building project which serves as both a figurative symbol, representing the relationships
that bond and break in the backyard. The fact that the character Rose Maxson wants the fence
built adds significance to her character because she views the fence as something necessary and
rather positive since she wants to keep her loved ones in. To her a fence is a symbol of her love
and furthermore her motive for a fence signifies that she represents concepts such as nurturing and
love within a safe environment. For troy the fence has a more symbolic definition since he keeps

when Troy confesses everything to Rose and this conflict takes place in the backyard, this is
where Rose never feels the same way about Troy after he delivered to her the disturbing news.
Throughtout this play readers see how fences are used to protect the characters mentioned.
Previously Rose protects herself by singing a song rose sings ВЁ Jesus, be a fence all around me

The Importance Of Copper Abuse In Australia
Copper was the first metal used by man in 7000 BC. They used copper a lot in the bronze ages
for swords. They use copper now in TV wirings, charges and mobile phones. Copper ore is mined
both underground and on the surface. They dig large excavations formed called open pit mines.
There are about .5 oz. of copperin your mobile phone. That s more than all the other metals in your
phone and weighs 15% of your phone.
The biggest mine in Australia is the Olympic dam. It produces 55000 tonnes of copper. The
Olympic dam is in the centre of South Australia, and 550 kilometres in Adelaide.
Australia first discovered copper at Kapunda, South Australia in 1842. Copper is mined in Qld,
Nsw, SA, WA and Tasmania. Copper is only not mined in Vic and Nt. Nsw has the most mines in
Australia but Qld produce more copper because their mines are bigger .Copper is found mainly in
the earth s crust. Australia is one of the world s top 6 producers of copper, Australian mines about
6 billion dollars worth of copper. Copper is often found in other metals like zinc, lead, gold and

readings that I will be using are Development as Freedom by Amartya Sen, Three Economic

In this article she wrote about three different ways to view a given situation. Her three economic
paradigms are conservative/ free market, liberal/ imperfectionist, and radical/ exploitation. Free
market economics states that individuals are free, independent, rational choosers who are
motivated by self interest. They believe in a free market and that the government should have no
control over it, and that this will lead to competitive markets and economic growth. Liberals also
use a market system; however, they believe that government intervention is necessary. They
think that some people don t have the resources at their disposal to achieve upward mobility.
Liberals believe that they it is necessary for governments to provide an education to all people so
that they have a chance to improve their living conditions. Gertrude s son is an example of the
government not successfully accomplishing this. In the slums, children are not given the
education that they need in order to succeed later in life. This is one example of how the
government in South Africa is not doing what an imperfectionist would recommend they do. The
last of the three economic paradigms is the radical perspective. Radicals have very firm theories
of how workers are exploited by their employers. They explain minority have low income and
status because they have a history of being exploited. They believe

Ku Klux Klan, Arkansas
Ku Klux Klan Harrison, Arkansas
Over the years racism has been a problem with the United States, but more specifically, a group,
referred to as the Ku Klux Klan. This group was formed by people across the United States, whom
viewed themselves as the superior class of citizens. I am researching the Ku Klux Klan in Harrison,
Aransas . I will discuss what the group is, how they made their second phase in Harrison, Arkansas,
the Reconstruction, and their involvement in Harrison, Arkansas today. I hope the audience can
better grasp the history of Arkansas and the racism that took place, using groups, such as the Ku
Klux Klan. The group known as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was first founded in 1866. The KKK
was organized by white supremacist to go against the Republicans Reconstruction era policies. The
members of the group formed in the southern states. They met secretly and formed a campaign to
intimidate and use violent acts of discrimination towards both white and black Republican leaders.
The Ku Klux Klan had laws passed against them, to stop there acts of injustice, which was
considered terrorism. The Ku Klux Klan was a group that formed three times, and had different
phases. The reformatted in the early 20th century, and came back stronger than the were before.
They held rallies, burned homes and people, burnt crosses, and held marches against immigrants
and other religions. Another phase was after the Civil Rights movement in the 1960 s the activity

Reformation Affect German Society In The 16th And 17th...
How did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th centuries?
Part A: Identification and Evaluation of Sources
This report will explore how did the Reformation affect German society in the 16th and 17th
centuries. The Reformation took place mainly during the 16th century and many things resulted
from that. It was a big turning point for society when everything was changing with the politics,
education received, and religion people had. This started when the power of the church was
beginning to break and the Church had an enormous amount of power over people before the
Reformation. The research done for this essay was based off primary and secondary sources that
discuss the effects the reformation had on German society. Dr. Jack L. Arnold s writes The Cause
and Results of the Reformation , which described several general effects the Reformation had on
society. Karen E. Spierling is the author of an encyclopedia and she analyzes several effects the
Reformation had on several areas around Europe including Germany.

The International Accounting Standards Board
Introduction
Over the past few decades there has been a significant transformation in the global financial
structure. These remarkable changes are a result of increasing global competition, changes in
business and political climate, increasing technological advancements etc. Globalization in
particular has given the corporations and individual borrowers to look beyond the borders for
finance and investment opportunities. In order to protect these investors and to maintain the market
integrity a financial reporting framework was developed. This framework ensures high quality of
financial reporting and true and fair representation of general information for the users of financial

The framework serves as a guide for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the moment nearly more than 100 countries comply with the IASB standards. Moreover the
board is also responsible for the International Financial Reporting standards (Ready ratios, 2010).
The process for setting these standards comprises of certain stages such as: setting the agenda,
planning, developing the discussion paper and exposure draft and finally setting the standard. After
issuing the standards the board members hold meetings to discuss and review whether there are any
issues regarding its implementation (Foley,2004).
IASB was founded in April 2001, as a replacement for the IASC. It consists of 15 board members
from different countries, with a diverse financial reporting background appointed by a board of
Trustees (Members of the IASB, 2007). It is the main standard setter for the countries that use IASs
for their financial reporting. USA on the other hand has its own set of standards (GAAP) issued by
the Financial Accounting Standards Board. But IASB and FASB since 2002 have been working
together focusing on making a converged set of high quality global standards. This will have a huge

Examples Of Envy In Beowulf
Unferth s Unprecedented Utopia
Robert Kraft once said, Envy and jealousy are incurable diseases. In the novel or epic poem,
Beowulf: A New Telling, Robert Nye sets the themes of this novel as envy and revenge and reveals
that jealousy often leads to self destruction and that people who are vengeant sometimes end up
only avenging the very people that they admire. Beowulf, a Geat warrior offers help to the Danes
when a monster attacks the Danish settlers repeatedly. When Unferth attempts to criticize Beowulf,
his envy takes over and he starts to quest revenge on Beowulf. Unferth s rude and flaw finding
qualities are fueled by his jealousy, which in turn makes him revengeful.
In this epic, Unferth represents the theme of envy and never sways from protecting his esteem. For
instance, when Unferth, full of mead insults Beowulf when introduced to the Danes, Unferth jeers,

The Effect Of Acid Concentration On Plant Plants And...
Introduction
Gibberellic Acid is a naturally occurring plant growth hormone that belongs to the gibberellin
group (Gupta and Chakrabarty, 2013). Gibberellins are responsible for stem growth in plants and
regulate the synthesis of proteins. Gibberellic acid is a by product of the Gibberella Fujikuroi
fungi which has the effect of causing developing rice plants stems to grow in such an expeditious
manner that the plant collapses (John M. Riley, 1987).
The experiment s variables include the independent variable, which is the concentration of
gibberellic acid that is used to soak the seeds, and the time period of germination, as well as the
dependant variable, which is the number of seeds that germinate. The control used to compare seed
germination and in this situation is the sample with a gibberellic acid concentration of 0 ppm.
Constants in the experiment include factors affecting seed germination such as constant
temperatures where each sample receives the same temperature and in the case of variation the
same amount of variation, quantity of moisture where the same amount of gibberellic acid is added
to each bag corresponding to the concentration, the samples should also receive the same conditions
of light, have the same sowing density, and number of seeds per square centimetre.
The aim of this practical is to investigate the effects of gibberellic acid on the germination rates of
two plant species. It was hypothesised from the above information that higher

The Is An Individual Feel Expressed
Overgeneralizing is thinking that there is a pattern happening after only one event and/or being
overly broad in conclusions. Overgeneralizing can make an individual feel stressed. Feeling stressed
can cause negative thoughts, which will cause negative performances. With overgeneralizing comes
neurotic perfectionism. Since the athlete is not getting the results they want right away, they start
to believe that they will not get the outcome they would like to see. For example, if an athlete does
not perform as well as they thoughtthey could in one practice, when they usually perform very well,
they may come to a conclusion that nothing is going right and nothing will go right. They will
begin to determine that they are not going to play in their upcoming gamejust because they
practiced poorly once. This can begin to cause stress on the person, which will mentally weaken
their performance.
Although I am not involved in a sport here at Drake, I found overgeneralizing in myself when it
came to academics. I did poorly on one of my first tests this semester, and I started to
overgeneralize and begin to think that I am going to perform poorly on all the professors exams
because I did poorly on one. This caused my body a great deal of stress and caused me to do just
about the same on the second test. Once I started to look at the whole picture, I began to stress less
and perform better on their exams. If an athlete is feeling the same way about their sport as I did

Differences Between The North And The South In The 1800s
During the early 19th century, especially before the American Revolution and after the War of
1812, American society has changed greatly. The North and the South followed different paths,
gradually developing into two distinct and very different regions. And in the 1800s, the
disparities between the two regions because of the difference in economic, social and political
structure, continued to widen leading up to the Civil War that raged across the nation from
1861 to 1865 which concluded the decades of diverse ideas and culture between the two regions.

The Soldier By Wupert Brooke Poem Analysis
World War 1 was known at the time as the Great war, the war to end all wars. The war fought
between July 28, 1914, and November 11, 1918, during this period of time the perception of war
and the casualties of war changed immensely. This changed of perception can be established
through the poets of Wilfred Owen and Rupert Brooke. In the poems, The Soldier (1914), by
Rupert Brooke, and Dulce et Decorum Est (October 1917), by Wilfred Owen, both poets use
language features to help the reader to comprehend each text. The Soldier is a portrayal of
Rupert Brooke s eternal love for his country as he goes to war. Brooke uses personification and
structures his poem in the form of a sonnet to portray the patriotic love the soldier has for his
country. Wilfred Owen describes the grim reality of war in his poem, Dulce et Decorum Est.
Through the effective use of metaphors and through the use of the full rhymescheme, Owen s poem
leaves a lasting image on the mind s of the audience.
Between the poems Dulce et Decorum Est and The Soldier, there are a number of similarities. The
use of Titling, is established to mislead the audience, in the sense that the terms are used to
contradict the content and theme of the poem. The Soldier evokes melancholy, but in reality the
poem reveals that fighting in war is for the sole purpose of defending one s country, and showcasing
your nationalism. Hence encouraging the act think this heart, all evil shed away , to then state his
true extreme nationalism through the passage no less gives somewhere back the thoughts by
England given . While contrastingly the title Dulce et Decorum Est, reflects jingoism, that is sweet
and seemly to die for there country. While the poem itself exposes the cold truth about war through
the tone of resentment, thus disheartening glory. When considering the structure of each poem,
they are very similar in the way that they are both written as an iambic pentameter. Within addition
they both share a notable structure rhyme pattern. With Dulce et Decorum Est, portraying a rhyme
that is disrupted at one main point GAS!, quick boys An ecstasy of fumbling this break, can be

The Media Causes Eating Disorders Essay
According to the National Eating Disorder Association the media has a major influence on what
a woman s body should look like. Every print and television advertisement suggests that the ideal
body is extremely thin. However, most women cannot achieve having a super thin body that the
media favors. The resulting failure leads to negative feelings about one s self and can begin a
downward spiral toward an eating disorder (National Eating Disorders Association). A particularly
disturbing fact is that research has demonstrated that children as young as five years of age are
experiencing body imagerelated anxiety. At the same time there has been a major increase in

Magazines that are targeted toward adolescent girls focus on the importance of being viewed as
sexy by men and focusing on the way your body looks. Studies have shown that adolescents who
frequently read fashion magazines are two to three times more likely to diet based on the
articles in the magazine. Pipher states that research shows that women are ashamed of their
bodies. Young girls starting at age ten are embarrassed of their bodies. It used to be only older
women ha body image issues. Beauty, according to American society is an image of a woman just
short of starvation (Mary Pipher, People Magazine, 6/3/96). Strasburger supports her argument
that the media is to blame by using a study that was done in Fiji. A natural field experiment in Fiji
revealed that the eating disorder rate increased dramatically after American television shows, which
show excessively thin female lead characters, were introduced. There are also now over 100 pro
anorexia Web sites on the Internet that not only encourage disordered eating but also offer specific
advice on purging, severely restricting caloric intake, and exercising excessively (Strasburger).
Recent studies have shown that adolescent girls describe the ideal girl as being 5 7 , 100 pounds,

Analysis Of The Globe And Mail Written By Antonia Maioni
It should come as no surprise that Quebec s history is distinct and as a result, has transformed the
province into a distinct region within Canada. Canada s fГЄte without Quebec, an article in The
Globe and Mail written by Antonia Maioni, illustrates the division between Quebec and the rest of
Canada especially on CanadaDay. Maioni discusses the importance of July 1st for Quebeckers as
the fГЄte de dГ©mГ©nagement, when rental leases often change hands in the province, and not
the celebration of Canada. She notes that for francophone Quebeckers, Canada Day is nothing
short of the ordinary since their lives do not revolve around being patriotic flag wavers (Maioni).
This deep seated resentment remains over Confederation and what is seen as a less then perfect
deal stuck in order to unite what Canadians know today to be Canada. With 2014 being historically
significant in marking the 150th anniversary of both the Charlottetown and Quebecconferences, the
gathering in Quebec has been largely omitted. Maioni argues that it is the Quebec conference that
should merit some reflection since that is where the constitutional framework was established.
Unlike in Charlottetown, which become a commemorative cottage industry as a result of central
Canadians intervening on what was once supposed to be a Maritime union (Maioni). This paper
will discuss how Quebec s relationship to Canada is framed in the media and how it affects
regional experience as a result.

Race, Class, And Identity
I attended the panel on Friday, October 23rd. Discussion at the event centered around race, class,
and identity. The introduction mentioned the tragic event in Charleston and that they decided to do
the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to
happen like Charleston s incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we
can start changing how raceand class is identified and judged in our community. One suggested
way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for
genuine dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the
outside, but they contain ill will on the inside. To fix that, panel members recommended truly
talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to
others as well as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions,
vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step out of their comfort zones. These
talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities.
While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I m not sure how
that would work well. It s easy for us, at a Christian university with a very privileged majority, to
openly talk about our opinions and struggles. Spreading out into a community and trying to get
honest thoughts on any issue is like pulling teeth. Even if we

Human History Literacy Rates Have Continued Essay
Human history literacy rates have continued to hike. Children now attend school than at any other
point in history. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching
the universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough.
As famous scholars had noted in human history, educationis the precondition for success and
unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic
and social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank,
currently there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school.
Even the rest of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life
after school. Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one
cannot fail to see how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the
importance of having a government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education,
however is not an easy task bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage
of teachers, resources and use of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and
act consequently before they expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101).
This paper shall carefully examine early childhoodeducation and the effectiveness of the universal
interventions made globally.

predict and if you go wrong, your money will never look back at you.
2. The market is not regulated. If you look at the stock market, you will see that the market is

Analysis Of Video Game Consoles And The Two Companies
1) What are your group s chosen IT market sector and TWO competing public companies that your
group will base its ITMSA research? Why did you choose these two public companies? Please
explain.
My groups chosen IT market sector is video game consoles and the two companies we have chosen
are Microsoft and Sony. We chose these two public companies because they are the largest ones
when it comes to the creation of video games and video game consoles. Microsoft represents the
Xbox series which is one of the largest game consoles in the world while Sony represents
PlayStation which is also one of the largest game consoles in the world. We picked these
companies because I knew we would be able to find a lot of information on them and they are
heavy competitors with each other.
2) What are 3 key findings (facts, information) from your IT Market Sector research (not company
research) you found using the IBISWorld business database that correspond to one or more of the
topics in Section 2: Market Sector Analysis in your Google Doc? Cite your sources following APA.
The first key finding I had on IBISWorld was the fact that annual growth in the video game market
has grown by 4.0% (IBISWorld, 1). I also found that the video game publishing software employs
over 103,000 individuals (IBISWorld, Software Publishing). The last key finding I had was that the
social network game department has advanced heavily since its introduction to the systems
(IBISWorld, Social Network).

Currently, the Unite States (U.S.) health care is focusing on delivering a cost effective health

Relationship Between Child Development And Early Child Care
Abstract
Over the past several years, researches have study the relationship between child development, early
child care, and the importance of early children s experiences. Although researchers have found that
most children in day care don t suffer from the experience, recent research suggest that child care
hours is related with externalized behaviors. Child care has demonstrated to be a predictor in a
child s academic success later in life. High quality child care predicts higher vocabulary scores
and advanced cognitive outcomes, but also exposure to child care centers reported externalizing
problems such a behavioral problems and conflicts. However, another research indicates that
children exposed to non maternal child care become identical from their peers with little or no
history of non maternal care from a social emotional perspective. In addition, a research shows that
low quality care is related to poor performance; however, the amount of time children spend in non
maternal care outside the home does not appear to be related to child development. Even though
child care does not appear to be related with child development, researchers discuss the potential
positive and negative long term effects in their behavior later in life in the following areas:
academically, emotionally, and socially.
Long Term Effects of Child Care
The 20th century marks a period in which families increasingly relied on child care as more
mothers of children work outside the home.

Analysis Of The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
The Faceless Man Throughout Junot Diaz s novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, the
Man Without a Face is a recurring character with no evident features. All of his scenes include an
event in which he is either a mysterious spectator watching the distress around himself or joins in
on the torture. His appearances throughout the story are suggestive of evil or violent incidents that
are about to occur. More times than not, the acts are performed by Trujillo s men. Almost
consistently, he emerges whenever one of the main characters is in great discord. The faceless man
symbolizes the foreshadowing of malicious occurrences caused by FukГє. FukГє is a prevalent
theme throughout the novel and is portrayed through the faceless man. The Washington Post

FukГє is shown through the many horrific events that are shown throughout. Trujillo is believed to
be able to put the curse on whoever he chooses for many generations to follow. In the news article

Many different countries such as France, Germany and the United States, were trying to make
improvements to their empires by expanding their territory. This was a form of expansionism.
There was an industrial boom in this period. Many railroads were created, steam power was used
and ways to communicate faster, pushed Britain to expand their empire. Countries like Russia
and Germany were traveling through eastern Europe to see what land was out there. Russia was
looking for new territory so they would not have to be dependent on imports. The lack of land
and bread forced Russia to search for new territory. As Germany expanded their arsenal other
counties were looking for ways to keep up with the arms race. New technology such as machine
guns and trench warfare made other countries aware of the fulled race for empire expansionisms.
After napoleon s reign through western europe Germany, Russia and the U.S had to come up with
the system of alliances in order to protect their land and political interest. This paticaular

This is to reflect the opaque idea of the EP, which is not knowing who you are. But For each

Dbq Militarism During World War 1
Militarism is a philosophy in which grants the military a large amount of power. Militarism had
held a heavy influence in Europe before World War One, making it a main cause. During the

was the arms race that had begun, it was a ferocious battle of who could build the more deadly,

There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive Order 13769 has

mind is actively engaged with the work, making connections and associations in an effort to bring
together separate elements. Films work like this because they... Show more content on

In this paper, I will be discussing how various stylistic elements such as mise en scene,
cinematography, editing and sound in The Wizard of Ozand Psycho enable the audience to better
enjoy watching both films which support Smith s claim a richer kind of pleasure .
The Wizard of Oz has revealed to be an exceptionally well thought out film when analysed. The
film has made use of stylistic elements such as colour, light, sound and mise en scene which
coincide with the various twists and turns of the plot as Dorothy moves from Kansas, to Oz, and
back again. In The Wizard of Oz, the director, Victor Fleming, has employed the use of different
unique editing techniques despite being an early film. It is obvious that the audience is able to
notice the absence of colour in the beginning and ending of the film. The audience identifies the
mood and overall feeling for Dorothy when she is in her family farm in Kansas. The lack of
colour shows the audience how boring and normal her life is in Kansas

Romare Bearden s The Train
Romare Bearden, an African American artist, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1911. As
a child he moved to New York City where his parents were both very involved in the African
American community and the Harlem Renaissance. Bearden attended Lincoln University and
then later transferred to Boston University. He then proceeded with school and began attending
New York University, where he focused more on his art. Later on, Bearden joined the Art
Students League where he studied under George Grosz. Grosz was a German artist who was
famous for his paintings and drawings. However, Grosz also did collage work that later inspired
Bearden to begin creating collage pieces. Although Bearden worked with many different medias,
including oils and water color, he was most known for his collages. In his collages, Bearden would
depict African Americanlife. Bearden would use different pieces from magazines and combine
them together with other media to create a piece that demonstrated a scene of daily African
American life. Through his collages, Bearden became a very well known artist in the... Show more

There are many things going on and multiple pieces overlapping each other in an unusual way.
There really isn t a place for your eye to rest or focus on. Based off the the title, one can assume
that these are African American people on a train. When speaking about his collage, Bearden said
that trains could take you away and could also bring you to where you were. And in the little towns
it s the black people who live near the trains . Bearden uses this piece to express how he saw
segregation and how it influenced his life. Living during the Harlem Renaissance and the Great
Migration, Bearden experienced what it is like being in a place that was continuously being
populate by more and more African Americans. African Americans were migrating to the North
and West by train and Bearden s collage is his way of depicting

The Stigma of Mental Illness
Corrigan argues that clinical diagnosis might exacerbate the stigma of mental illness. In Corrigan s
study clinical diagnosis adds groupness for the collection of people with mental illness which
worsens the level of prejudice (Corrigan 34). Corrigan states that this ultimately leads to
overgeneralization, as there is an assumption that all individuals diagnosed with the same mental
disorders behave the same way (Corrigan 34). According to Corrigan the stereotypic description of
mental illnessperceives to the public that, people with diagnosis are not likely to recover from those
disorders, which can lead to pessimistic attitudes from the public (Corrigan 35). Corrigan suggests
that one of the solutions is to understand the diagnosis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Theriot, students who have attended more seminars regarding about mental illness
have shown deeper understanding of schizophrenia and showed reduction in stigma of mental
illness (Theriot 122). According to the Council of Ontario Universities, Ontario universities have
many initiatives to educate the public and the patients to reduce the stigma of mental illness
(COUO 8). For example according to the council, Queen s University hosts a program called
Overcoming Stigma in Mood and Anxiety Disorders that is promoted by the Bell Mental Health and
Anti Stigma Research Chair Dr. Stuart. This program s ultimate goal is to change the way people
think about mental illness change the fears and prejudices of mental illness (Queen s University 2).
Other universities such as the University of Ottawa, Brock University and the University of
Waterloo have similar initiatives to educate (COUO 6). Other strategy that universities use to
counter stigma of mental illness is by contact as it challenges attitudes about mental illness through
a direct connection (Corrigan et al. 31). There are two different contacts that could be made to
reduce the stigma: contact between the public and an individual with mental illness (Corrigan et al.
31) and contact between mental health professional and a recovered individual (Corrigan 36).
According to Corrigan and other authors, felicitating interactions between citizens and a

Philadelphia Eagles Case Study
Throughout this season, the Philadelphia Eagles have been the proverbial underdogs as many
analysts did not believe that they were a good football team. Despite losing second year
quarterback Carson Wentz in Week 14 the Eagles proved their doubters wrong and clinched the
NFC s number one seed behind veteran backup Nick Foles. However, when the playoffs began,
the doubters and oddsmakers came out and full force once again. Las Vegas pegged the Eagles as
underdogs against the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round and in the NFC championship game
versus the Minnesota Vikings. But just like they did all season, the Eagles proved everybody
wrong outside of the city of Brotherly Love, defeating both Atlanta and Minnesota to make it all the

Digital Signal Processing
With the advent of digitization in every field from communication to media, the need for methods
to process digital signals is more important than ever. Now that I am on the threshold of
embarking on a career that will encompass a major part of my adult life, I think it is natural that I
veer towards Signal processing. As I look back, I feel that my natural inclination and excellence in
mathematics from childhood has led me along this path. Digital Signal processingincorporates the
use of mathematics to manipulate an information signal to modify or improve it in some way,
fitting naturally into my area of strength and interest.
I graduated from high school with 97% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths as a result of which I was
admitted in SSN, ranked amongst the top engineering colleges in India. During my undergraduate
study in Electronics and Communications Engineering I developed a liking for subjects like Digital
Communication, Digital Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing.etc which provided me with a
fundamental knowledge about digital signals and a thirst to explore more.
My actual venture into DSP, started during fifth semester holidays when I attend a course on DSP
Applications conducted by IIT Madras and Analog Devices. This gave me a great opportunity to
work with several professors in IIT on projects like Noise Cancellation, Image Restoration using
Kalman filter.etc. Intrigued by this experience, I devoted more time towards studying various fields

Immigration
I was born in 2002 in Kampala, Uganda, a small landlocked country in East Africa, dubbed the
nickname ВґPearl of AfricaВґ. In 2006, leaving behind the faces of family members my family of
7 packed and moved to the United States. My family is one of the lucky ones, we did not move
because of conflict or a terrible dictator. We moved simply because we had the resources that others
around the world donВґt have.
In Syria, 2,500 people have died on boats due to the current war. They have sought for refuge in the
United States only to be turned around. On January 27, 2017 the current president of the United
States, Donald J. Trump, signed a travel ban to six predominantly Muslim countries: Iraq, Syria,

Mental Health Couseling Programs
Mental health counseling programs are designed to prepare individuals/students to help clients
with conflicts, personal problems, or emotional predicaments. Mental Health counseling has
become a wide area of study that is highly recommended to those who are unbalanced and in need
of support. Effective clinical mental health counselors acknowledge the differences amongst
people and seek to improve their ability to work with diverse people (Gladding el at., 2010). This
is very important, especially for counselors to be culturally diverse and to develop multicultural
counseling competencies to be effective. The License Professional Counselor role is to provide an
environment of self examination by assisting clients with therapy and therapeutic alliance to
support the process of healing. They analyze problems from different angles to provide solutions,
by using method to set the stage for change. They must provide a non judgmental environment so
that the client feel respected, and of value to openly discuss life events, behaviors, feeling, and
thoughts. The Professional Counselor s role is to create this climate for the clients to examine their
emotions to arrive at solutions that is best for the clients. The professional s assignment is to assist
the individuals in finding solutions that are most corresponding with their own values, not to
persuade the clients by imposing their values on the client. According to Gladding and Newsome

  • 2. Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Essay Social Psychological Theories of Aggression Social learning theorists propose that behaviour, such as aggression is learnt through observation, imitation and behaviour shaping. This behaviour is learnt automatically through observation of male and female role models, for example parents, peers and media characters. Whether or not this behaviour is imitated depends on the type of reinforcement that the role model receives. Vicarious reinforcement involves the outcome of a role models behaviour, for example if a child observes a parent acting aggressively and receiving positive rewards for they are more like to be imitate this behaviour in the future, than they would be if the role model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression as the children learnt through observation of the role model, imitation of their behaviour and behaviour shaping. Also they received sweets and praise as a form of positive vicarious reinforcement thus meaning that there was a chance of repetition of the aggressive behaviour outside the laboratory setting. The vicarious reinforcement is also a direct consequence that will have an effect on the chances of the child repeating the behaviour. As if the child was punished they would have been less likely to act aggressively again. On the other hand, it is possible to say that the children were manipulated into responding aggressively towards the BoBo Doll as they were teased and may have become frustrated because they could not touch the toys even though they had to watch the role models playing however it is not actually stated how long the children remained aggressive for. The experiment can be said to be unethical and morally wrong because the children were trained to be aggressive, as they were probably not used to watching adults behave some immaturely. Also as the experiment was preformed in a laboratory it therefore lacks eco logical validity, as it may not have real life consequences. Another study that supports the Social Learning Theories of aggression is Patterson et al (1989). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities Between Samurai And American Knights European Knights and Japanese Samurai Warriors The medieval time era, was one of many wars, across almost every continent. From this two skilled and famous breeds of men formed. They are known as the medieval knights of Europe and the feudal Samurai warriors of Japan. Both groups of warriors had many similarities, but also their unique qualities. The following will examine some of this common and not so common aspects. To begin, the classes of the two warriors are very similar. Both existed in a society that followed a feudal system. In Europe the King would grant lords land in exchange for loyalty. The lords would then grant knights land or safe haven in exchange for their loyalty in battle. When war loomed on the horizon the knights were expected to answer the call and defend the lord s property. Like wise in Japan the Shogun would grant lords land and the lords would give the land to Samuraiin exchange for loyalty. The Samurai also fought to protect their lord s holdings. Ohio State is a program that over the last ten years has been accustomed to winning games and being at the top of the Big Ten standings, and the last two years under coach Matta were not up to most fans standards. I believe that Thad Matta should not be fired and that he will turn the program around if given more time. Thad Matta has been one of the most successful coaches in the country at his time at The Ohio State University. Comparing him to Michigan State s head coach Tom Izzo, Thad Matta has a higher winning percentage, more regular season conference championships, and more conference tournament championships in his coaching career, which is also five years shorter than Izzo s, according to sports refernces.com. Then if you compare Matta to the past Ohio State coaches he easily surfaces into the top pair. Coach Matta is the winningest coach in Ohio State history (Brown). Free market economics states that individuals are free, independent, rational choosers who are motivated by self interest. They believe in a free market and that the government should have no control over it, and that this will lead to competitive markets and economic growth. Liberals also use a market system; however, they believe that government intervention is necessary. They think that some people don t have the resources at their disposal to achieve upward mobility. Liberals believe that they it is necessary for governments to provide an education to all people so that they have a chance to improve their living conditions. Gertrude s son is an example of the government not successfully accomplishing this. In the slums, children are not given the education that they need in order to succeed later in life. This is one example of how the government in South Africa is not doing what an imperfectionist would recommend they do. The last of the three economic paradigms is the radical perspective. Introduction Gibberellic Acid is a naturally occurring plant growth hormone that belongs to the gibberellin group (Gupta and Chakrabarty, 2013). Gibberellins are responsible for stem growth in plants and regulate the synthesis of proteins. Gibberellic acid is a by product of the Gibberella Fujikuroi fungi which has the effect of causing developing rice plants stems to grow in such an expeditious manner that the plant collapses (John M. Riley, 1987). The experiment s variables include the independent variable, which is the concentration of gibberellic acid that is used to soak the seeds, and the time period of germination, as well as the dependant variable, which is the number of seeds that germinate. The control used to compare seed germination and in this situation is the sample with a gibberellic acid concentration of 0 ppm. Constants in the experiment include factors affecting seed germination such as constant temperatures where each sample receives the same temperature and in the case of variation the same amount of variation, quantity of moisture where the same amount of gibberellic acid is added to each bag corresponding to the concentration, the samples should also receive the same conditions of light, have the same sowing density, and number of seeds per square centimetre. • 18. The Is An Individual Feel Expressed Overgeneralizing is thinking that there is a pattern happening after only one event and/or being overly broad in conclusions. Overgeneralizing can make an individual feel stressed. Feeling stressed can cause negative thoughts, which will cause negative performances. With overgeneralizing comes neurotic perfectionism. Since the athlete is not getting the results they want right away, they start to believe that they will not get the outcome they would like to see. For example, if an athlete does not perform as well as they thoughtthey could in one practice, when they usually perform very well, they may come to a conclusion that nothing is going right and nothing will go right. They will begin to determine that they are not going to play in their upcoming gamejust because they practiced poorly once. This can begin to cause stress on the person, which will mentally weaken their performance. Although I am not involved in a sport here at Drake, I found overgeneralizing in myself when it came to academics. I did poorly on one of my first tests this semester, and I started to overgeneralize and begin to think that I am going to perform poorly on all the professors exams because I did poorly on one. This caused my body a great deal of stress and caused me to do just about the same on the second test. • 22. The Soldier By Wupert Brooke Poem Analysis World War 1 was known at the time as the Great war, the war to end all wars. The war fought between July 28, 1914, and November 11, 1918, during this period of time the perception of war and the casualties of war changed immensely. This changed of perception can be established through the poets of Wilfred Owen and Rupert Brooke. In the poems, The Soldier (1914), by Rupert Brooke, and Dulce et Decorum Est (October 1917), by Wilfred Owen, both poets use language features to help the reader to comprehend each text. The Soldier is a portrayal of Rupert Brooke s eternal love for his country as he goes to war. Brooke uses personification and structures his poem in the form of a sonnet to portray the patriotic love the soldier has for his country. Wilfred Owen describes the grim reality of war in his poem, Dulce et Decorum Est. Through the effective use of metaphors and through the use of the full rhymescheme, Owen s poem leaves a lasting image on the mind s of the audience. Between the poems Dulce et Decorum Est and The Soldier, there are a number of similarities. The use of Titling, is established to mislead the audience, in the sense that the terms are used to contradict the content and theme of the poem. • 23. The Media Causes Eating Disorders Essay According to the National Eating Disorder Association the media has a major influence on what a woman s body should look like. Every print and television advertisement suggests that the ideal body is extremely thin. However, most women cannot achieve having a super thin body that the media favors. The resulting failure leads to negative feelings about one s self and can begin a downward spiral toward an eating disorder (National Eating Disorders Association). A particularly disturbing fact is that research has demonstrated that children as young as five years of age are experiencing body imagerelated anxiety. • 24. Analysis Of The Globe And Mail Written By Antonia Maioni It should come as no surprise that Quebec s history is distinct and as a result, has transformed the province into a distinct region within Canada. Canada s fГЄte without Quebec, an article in The Globe and Mail written by Antonia Maioni, illustrates the division between Quebec and the rest of Canada especially on CanadaDay. Maioni discusses the importance of July 1st for Quebeckers as the fГЄte de dГ©mГ©nagement, when rental leases often change hands in the province, and not the celebration of Canada. She notes that for francophone Quebeckers, Canada Day is nothing short of the ordinary since their lives do not revolve around being patriotic flag wavers (Maioni). This deep seated resentment remains over Confederation and what is seen as a less then perfect deal stuck in order to unite what Canadians know today to be Canada. With 2014 being historically significant in marking the 150th anniversary of both the Charlottetown and Quebecconferences, the gathering in Quebec has been largely omitted. Maioni argues that it is the Quebec conference that should merit some reflection since that is where the constitutional framework was established. Unlike in Charlottetown, which become a commemorative cottage industry as a result of central Canadians intervening on what was once supposed to be a Maritime union (Maioni). This paper will discuss how Quebec s relationship to Canada is framed in the media and how it affects regional experience as a result. Much like Canada, Quebec often ... The introduction mentioned the tragic event in Charleston and that they decided to do the seminars that weekend in order to talk about these issues now rather than wait for something to happen like Charleston s incident. The whole purpose of this discussion was to determine how we can start changing how raceand class is identified and judged in our community. One suggested way to start encouraging more acceptance and understanding is through creating spaces for genuine dialogue. There are facades of these safe spaces; these places are politically correct on the outside, but they contain ill will on the inside. To fix that, panel members recommended truly talking and truly listening. Having honest discussions is key to making people more sympathetic to others as well as important to opening up the floor to differing opinions. To have these discussions, vulnerability must be present; everyone must be willing to step out of their comfort zones. These talks will help stop the fear and aggression in communities. While all of that sounds lovely and very productive to shedding light on issues, I m not sure how that would work well. It s easy for us, at a Christian university with a very privileged majority, to openly talk about our opinions and struggles. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching the universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough. As famous scholars had noted in human history, educationis the precondition for success and unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic and social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank, currently there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school. Even the rest of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life after school. Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one cannot fail to see how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the importance of having a government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education, however is not an easy task bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage of teachers, resources and use of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and act consequently before they expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101). • 32. Relationship Between Child Development And Early Child Care Abstract Over the past several years, researches have study the relationship between child development, early child care, and the importance of early children s experiences. Although researchers have found that most children in day care don t suffer from the experience, recent research suggest that child care hours is related with externalized behaviors. Child care has demonstrated to be a predictor in a child s academic success later in life. High quality child care predicts higher vocabulary scores and advanced cognitive outcomes, but also exposure to child care centers reported externalizing problems such a behavioral problems and conflicts. However, another research indicates that children exposed to non maternal child care become identical from their peers with little or no history of non maternal care from a social emotional perspective. In addition, a research shows that low quality care is related to poor performance; however, the amount of time children spend in non maternal care outside the home does not appear to be related to child development. Even though child care does not appear to be related with child development, researchers discuss the potential positive and negative long term effects in their behavior later in life in the following areas: academically, emotionally, and socially. Long Term Effects of Child Care The 20th century marks a period in which families increasingly relied on child care as more mothers of children work outside the home. ... • 45. The Stigma of Mental Illness Corrigan argues that clinical diagnosis might exacerbate the stigma of mental illness. In Corrigan s study clinical diagnosis adds groupness for the collection of people with mental illness which worsens the level of prejudice (Corrigan 34). Corrigan states that this ultimately leads to overgeneralization, as there is an assumption that all individuals diagnosed with the same mental disorders behave the same way (Corrigan 34). According to Corrigan the stereotypic description of mental illnessperceives to the public that, people with diagnosis are not likely to recover from those disorders, which can lead to pessimistic attitudes from the public (Corrigan 35). Corrigan suggests that one of the solutions is to understand the diagnosis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Theriot, students who have attended more seminars regarding about mental illness have shown deeper understanding of schizophrenia and showed reduction in stigma of mental illness (Theriot 122). According to the Council of Ontario Universities, Ontario universities have many initiatives to educate the public and the patients to reduce the stigma of mental illness (COUO 8). For example according to the council, Queen s University hosts a program called Overcoming Stigma in Mood and Anxiety Disorders that is promoted by the Bell Mental Health and Anti Stigma Research Chair Dr. Stuart. This program s ultimate goal is to change the way people think about mental illness change the fears and prejudices of mental illness (Queen s University 2). Other universities such as the University of Ottawa, Brock University and the University of Waterloo have similar initiatives to educate (COUO 6). Other strategy that universities use to counter stigma of mental illness is by contact as it challenges attitudes about mental illness through a direct connection (Corrigan et al. 31). There are two different contacts that could be made to reduce the stigma: contact between the public and an individual with mental illness (Corrigan et al. 31) and contact between mental health professional and a recovered individual (Corrigan 36). According to Corrigan and other authors, felicitating interactions between citizens and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Philadelphia Eagles Case Study Throughout this season, the Philadelphia Eagles have been the proverbial underdogs as many analysts did not believe that they were a good football team. Despite losing second year quarterback Carson Wentz in Week 14 the Eagles proved their doubters wrong and clinched the NFC s number one seed behind veteran backup Nick Foles. However, when the playoffs began, the doubters and oddsmakers came out and full force once again. Las Vegas pegged the Eagles as underdogs against the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round and in the NFC championship game versus the Minnesota Vikings. But just like they did all season, the Eagles proved everybody wrong outside of the city of Brotherly Love, defeating both Atlanta and Minnesota to make it all the way ... • 48. Digital Signal Processing With the advent of digitization in every field from communication to media, the need for methods to process digital signals is more important than ever. Now that I am on the threshold of embarking on a career that will encompass a major part of my adult life, I think it is natural that I veer towards Signal processing. As I look back, I feel that my natural inclination and excellence in mathematics from childhood has led me along this path. Digital Signal processingincorporates the use of mathematics to manipulate an information signal to modify or improve it in some way, fitting naturally into my area of strength and interest. I graduated from high school with 97% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths as a result of which I was admitted in SSN, ranked amongst the top engineering colleges in India. During my undergraduate study in Electronics and Communications Engineering I developed a liking for subjects like Digital Communication, Digital Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing.etc which provided me with a fundamental knowledge about digital signals and a thirst to explore more. My actual venture into DSP, started during fifth semester holidays when I attend a course on DSP Applications conducted by IIT Madras and Analog Devices. This gave me a great opportunity to work with several professors in IIT on projects like Noise Cancellation, Image Restoration using Kalman filter.etc. Intrigued by this experience, I devoted more time towards studying various fields in ...
