American Education Essay
American Education
Today s schools have standardized promotion requirements in the hopes that all students will be
promoted in fairness. Like most states, Ohio s criteria for promotion in grade school include a
passing grade in English composition, mathematics, science and reading. There are state mandated
benchmarks that must be met in all of these areas. The four levels of grading are: Advanced student
performs at a superior level; Proficient student has a solid performance; Deficient student s
performance is lacking; Failing student s performance is unsatisfactory. A student must be
proficient or better in all areas to qualify for promotion. Also, if a student is not performing in the C
range or better in a majority of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the state of Ohio uses these proficiency tests to evaluate the schools themselves. The
schools must pass all areas to retain accreditation. Approximately 93% of schools evaluated are
failing in at least one area (1998 99 1). This creates problems, as teachers, under pressure to perform
well, tend to teach toward the tests. Instead of having fun with their students and exploring areas
related to the topic, the teacher focuses on the areas the students will be tested over. That is, their
curriculum loses its wide range and tunnels towards the information covered on the tests. This
tunneling tends to narrow our children s education.
The percentages of failures indicate change is needed. A new form of educating our children,
which is really a return to the schoolhouse type of education, is Mixed Age Education. MAE is
an educational program built on the premise that different children learn different things at
different rates. This program allows children to be organized not by age, but by skill level. The
groups are generally divided into K 2 and 3 5. A child may be in Kindergarten level math and first
level reading or fourth grade science and fifth grade English. The child s progress is frequently
assessed for trouble areas and to determine when he or she is ready to advance to the next level in
each individual area of teaching. A child s progress is

Relational Database Management Systems ( Rdbmss ) Essay
At the U.S. Census Bureau, hundreds, perhaps more than a thousand heterogeneous databases are
currently operating. Some divisions have standardized the database technology on Oracle, while
others are using a combination of Sybase, MySQL, SQL Server, etc. These Relational Database
Management Systems (RDBMSs), supporting many databases and applications and each hosted on
dedicated servers, are often under utilizing the server resources available to them. Such a database
infrastructure, therefore, is not cost , or resource effective from a maintenance or administrative
standpoint. Consequently, the best solution to mitigate these issues involves the implementation of
database consolidation technology. Database consolidation is the process of centralizing database
resources, so that they are shareable among several databases and instances. In other words, it is the
process of consolidating databases from multiple servers onto one or fewer servers. For example,
Multitenant Architecture of Oracle 12c moves the database management principle to a completely
new level with database consolidation. Consequently, for the U.S. Census Bureau, consolidation
initiatives such as the following are beneficial:
Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) fewer licenses and fewer administrative personnel
Improved availability improved service level agreements (SLAs)
Improved security security on a consolidated server is easier to administer than on several
individual servers

Advantages Of Ryanair
Ryanair s Competitive Advantage
Ryanair will be always known as a revolutionist of the Airline industry in Europe. Ryanair became
Europe s first low cost airline in the late 1990 s. It has continued to develop and has cemented its
place as Europe s most profitable. It has achieved this by develop new strategies that has given
them a competitive advantage over their rivals. Competitive advantage can be defined as strategies,
skills, knowledge, resources and competencies that differentiate a business from its rivals (Wang,
2009).
Porter s Generic Strategy
Porter s main argument was that a company s strength is usually divided into one of two factors:
Differentiation and cost advantage. In recent years Ryanair have made the strengthening of their ...

Inbound Logistics
Due to a uniform fleet, Ryanair have benefitted from low training costs of crew and pilots. The
internet ticket sales boom and online check in has improved efficiency. The Boeing discount when
buying new planes has meant further cost savings
Operations
Ryanair have remained committed to their low cost no frills service for European passengers.
They have limited crew on all flights and the development of technology means that access to
information is much easier. Ryanair is the biggest low cost carrier in Europe presently.
Outbound Logistics
Ryanair have outsourced some of its outbound logistics like baggage handling to smaller
companies. This helps in the efficacy of flights and gets flights turned around a lot faster. In 2014,
Ryanair delivered the best punctuality performance of all European airlines with 91% of flights
arriving on time .

The Treatment Of Immigrant Women Essay
Although immigrant women play a big role in America s society and economy, they have been
constantly mistreated and looked down upon throughout history. Not only do they face the burden
of the stratifications that their gender entails but they also struggle to adopt the American culture
and norms. America was viewed as the land of opportunities and economic prosperity, a perspective
that draws in many immigrant women who were willing to leave their families and possessions to
come to this foreign country in hopes of a better life. In America, they faced many challenges as
they not only had to work long hours but also took care of their families and do housework as well.
They struggled to make a standard living out of low wage jobs and assimilating into America s
society. Today, the treatment of immigrant women has improved greatly as they have stood
together and fought for their rights. Immigrant women have built communities and held strikes for
better pay and treatment. Although America has made great strides in improving treatment of
immigrant women, there is still social injustice. Immigrant women have come a long way from the
first time they entered America until now, but their stories are often left untold and omitted from
American history. Immigrant women cover many ethnic groups from around the world such as
Chinese, Japanese, Jews, Irish and Mexicans. Upon their first arrival in America, these groups of
immigrant women have all been through similar yet different

Design Of The Games For Primary School Children
CHAPTER 3: DESIGN
In this chapter, we describe the design of the games for the project which covers the interfaces and
structures of the game, the components and the technical details of the game using flowcharts to
describe the various processes of the game. Also, the purpose of the game and how the purpose
can be achieved are discussed here. These are presented under the following sub headings:
1.How are the games structured?
2.How are the games built?
3.What are the purposes of the games?
4.How can the purposes of the games be achieved?
5.How can the games be tested?
These questions tend to address how the games are built towards achieving its purposes. The
questions are addressed as follows:

The benefits of starting again cannot be overemphasised as the player tends to master the game

thing as required and moving on to the next level till the game is completed. 3.1.1 The Main Menu
Each game begins with a Graphical User Interface that shows the Main Menu of the game which
ensures that the players do not just start playing the game as soon as the program is loaded. This
acts as the control panel for the game allowing the player to access all the features of the game like
choosing the game to play, getting instructions on how to play the game or closing the entire
program. The Main Menu contains buttons that leads the player to either choose a game which
links the user to the Game Menu showing the game and links to playing the game. The Main Menu

Construction Essay
Is the construction project ruining the green areas or pathways? Does it require any roads to be
narrowed disturbing the smooth flow of the traffic? Does the project jeopardize any park,
playground or any such place of socializing and entertainment? These are some of the questions
which must be there in minds of the managers who are given the responsibility of constructing the
project. how much the contractors compromise on their initial design and plan for the project, and
how much they are going to be careful about not resulting in environmental pollution as well as not

On demolition of this farm house, the birds will become homeless and the oxygen production
will be decreased (Plant, 2004). This is a direct impact of this construction project on the
environment. It must be kept in mind that we are only considering the environmental factor and
impacts here and we do not have to mention the property rights of the owner of the farm house,
has he been adequately compensated and dealt with before the start of this project. We just
assume that the owner of the farm house has been dealt with considering all his rights and he is
agreed to give away the rights and authority of this farm house to the contractors of the new
project. The demolition will not only cause damage to the greenery of the neighborhood but also
will enhance the pollution in the form of dust and noise. This will impact the neighbors of the
housing complex which is only one thousand feet away from this project s site. The first activity
which is to be expected to be done first is the clearance of vegetation which is a direct damage to
the environment. The agricultural value and output of this land will be multiplied with zero once
the vegetations will be cleared of the surface. 200 acre of the farm land which this project has
bought for the current project is a vast land and clear vegetation from it will damage not only the
view from the site but also will be a decrease in economy. The environmental plan must have

Old Barn Research Paper
The history of a barn can tell someone a lot about a place and the values of that place. Restoring
a barn takes time and effort, just like anything good in life. Barns are used for much more than
just a storage place, and they can describe a location or be part of a place s history. An old barn
could just be a pile of rotting wood, but by the same token, the Mona Lisa could simply be
described as a piece of canvas with some pigments attached. As one can see, when looking at barns
through different perspectives, one might gain a new appreciation. Barnpreservation is an important
way for the values of a society to be preserved just as certainly as art preservation helps society to
celebrate and remember its heritage. The decreasing number of farmers in the US is one reason
why people are losing knowledge of where food actually comes from. Agriculture gets lost with

Rhetorical Devices In Ted Talk Speech
With over one million views, Dan Gross TED Talk capitalizes on the issue of gun control. The
viewer gains a deep insight on an individual s views who left their dream career to become a gun
control activist. Dan Gross uses rhetorical speech and persuasion in order to educate his audience
on why gun violence can t be our new normal. Dan Gross, the head of the Brady Campaign to
Prevent GunViolence, entices the audience by using the following rhetorical, persuasive, and visual
elements throughout his speech:
в—ЏDressed professionally in a suit.
в—ЏBegan speaking about his passion, then tied it into a personal tragedy.
в—ЏFound a common ground with the audience.
в—ЏUsed statistics to gain credibility.
в—ЏRevealed how media allow people to look past gun issues. (Gross)
If the viewer takes a deeper look at these six key persuasive elements listed above, it is shown
how Gross speech is precisely outlined to ultimately create a persuasive monologue. Dan very
naturally uses a few of the rhetorical strategies discussed in class to create impactful persuasion.
Before Dan even speaks, a viewer will see him as credible simply due to his appearance. Dan is
dressed in a well fitted suit, has a clean shave, and his hair gelled back. Dan then begins his
speech with a personal narrative. He speaks about his passion for advertising that came to an end
when his own brother was shot in the head at the Empire State Building. Gross uses an emotional

Leisure and Lifestyle
At the beginning of this course leisure was a topic I did not give much thought to and I felt like I
did not have the time to spare to put much thought into. To me, all leisure meant was having free
time to do whatever it is that I wanted to do. But after analyzing my life I noticed that I had
surrounded my life with solely work and school and my free time was anytime I spent watching
television and anytime I slept. However, after taking this course I learned that leisuremeant more
much than that. Now leisure to me means, as Richard Kraus states, leisure is time which is not
devoted to work or work connected responsibilities or to other forms of discretionary or
unobligated time, (Olson et al., 2003, 12). The time in which Kraus... Show more content on

Unfortunately, the same situation most likely applies for many people. Yes, many do spend most
of their time at work but assuredly if they were to reevaluate their time spent, they most definitely
may find some of their extra time that could be spent on leisure.
Without having or developing good time management skills, one may find it easier to stress out
or find it easy to not make time for leisure. The results for a study conducted on 249 college
students showed that the combination of anxiety reduction and effective time management
affiliated with participating in leisure activities can be an effective technique for reducing
academic stress (Misra McKean, 2000, 41). The same study also states that, campus recreation
practitioners may plan leisure activities and social recreational pursuits that increase the
educational benefit from leisure pursuits to help students handle their academic stress, (Misra
McKean, 2000, 49). So therefore, there is time for leisure as long as we learn how to manage
our time. Once we find time to participate in those activities we desired for so long, it will help
cope with nerve racking situations that surround our lives. Besides keeping us from stressing,
leisure also keeps us entertained and it helps stirs us away from being bored. Many of us can
easily admit (I know I can) that when we finally do have time for leisure activities we end up
sitting on the couch in

Multi Touch Screen Essay
Multi Touch Screens vs. Mouse Driven Screens As the use of computers and other electronic
devices is growing by day, new and better technologies in the way that these devices are made are
finding their way into the computer world. The result of this has been an increase in computer
related applications, better electronics and more complex systems being developed for use
(Norman, 2007). As such, this has prompted different electronic designers to come up with the most
appropriate technologies that make it easier for different users to interact with the availed
technologies. The result of this has been the product of both the Multi Touch Screen and the Mouse
Driven Screens interfaces. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply to multi
touch screens and applications running on them Generally, there are two key forms of monitor
interfaces that should be highly considered in the process of designing different computer
applications namely the multi touch screen interface and the mouse driven interface. The
controlling actions that are carried out by different computer users tend to have different
preferences when it comes to the use of different computer applications uses (Dearden, 2008). As
such, the application of the multi touch screen gives computer users an opportunity to interact with
the computer applications via a touch screen that will give them a chance to tap, swipe, long tap,

Macbeth s State Of Mind
Throughout Shakespeare s tragedy of Macbeth, the motif of time plays a significant role as
Macbeth s state of mind progresses throughout the play. Time serves as a vital role in a tragedy, for
as time progresses, a character s inevitable and ill fated end draws closer and closer. In Shakespeare
s play, Macbethbecomes completely consumed by time as he is fixated on an illusory future and
becomes haunted by his inescapable, bloodstained past. Essentially, throughout the play, Macbeth
continually fights for his royal future, yet realizes too late that, due to the unavoidable passing of
time and mortality of life, his position as King of Scotland will be transient and momentary.
Nevertheless, throughout the course of the play, Macbeth s state... Show more content on

Yet, he also recognizes that if he were to disturb the natural time and progression of events in
this bank and shoal of time (I.vii.6), he would be jeopardizing his future, for he would still have
judgment here (I.vii.8). As Macbeth ponders whether or not to kill his king in order to try to
become king himself, his main hesitations arise from the fact that, if he does kill Duncan, he will
be consumed by guilt and will suffer judgment and consequences in both this world and in the
afterlife. Paralleling Hamlet s to be or not to be speech, Macbeth s uncertainty about the afterlife
and what will arise from his mortal actions cause him to desire to proceed no further in this
business (31). Thus, Macbeth s attention on the afterlife reveals his state of mind relative to time at
this point in the play as he focuses on the future while debating whether to essentially overleap time
and make himself King of Scotland, or wait and see if the witches prophecy will come true.
However, in regards to the prophecies, the witches never mention when anything will take place.
Thus, Macbeth is left with an internal struggle as he ponders whether to let nature run its course
and hopefully become king naturally, or whether to disturb the normal order of the world and
overrun the natural progression of time to ensure his crowning. Although Macbeth concludes at the

Management Information System
Crowdsourcing at AOL Case Analysis
1. A brief analysis of the case study
AOL engaged in what is called micro tasking , and is believed to revolutionize the virtual
workforce. Micro tasking is what Daniel Maloney, an AOL executive, applied when he was faced
with inventorying a vast video library. He broke the large job into small pieces and utilized a
crowdsourcing IT platform, Mechanical Turk, in order to describe each task that he required to
be done. Each worker was asked to find web pages containing a video and identify the video s
source and location. The project started within a week and completed in a couple of months. The

He assembles and controls the entire project.
2 3. What factors should be considered when deciding whether or not to crowdsource a particular
part of a business?
I think the following three points implies factors to decide. 1) Any tasks that require advanced
knowledge in a certain area should not be crowd sourced. Because managers controls a large
number of workers and review the quality of services, critical functions related to company s
brand should not be crowd sourced. 2)Even if each company has its strategic capability,
crowdsourcing vital areas that sustain company s capabilities might lead a company to lose its
advantage. 3) Crowd sourcing is more suitable for non creative, simple works to be break into
micro tasks.
2 4. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of crowdsourcing.
I consider that the advantages of crowdsourcing not only reduce cost, but also provide working
opportunities with a large number of general people. For example, 1) Total labor cost can be
reduced. 2) It s generally faster than hiring temp staff or traditional outsourcing firms 3)Mothers,
who quit working even if they have working experiences, can utilize working opportunities in order
to work as a part time job. 4) Crowdsourcing provide NEET (Not in Education, Employed and
Trained) people with opportunities to join something social activities. On the other hand,
disadvantage implies that 1) Dishonest companies maliciously utilize people without caring for

I traveled to Barcelona, Spain last July to help a family teach their daughter English and to
discover a whole new world I d never experienced before. The trip was a whirlwind of tapas and
teaching, with several bike rides to the beach dispersed throughout. Three weeks after my
arrival, I was conversing in fluent Spanish to a cheerful stranger after being tumbled by a rogue
Mediterranean wave. Strands of seaweed and pearly white grains of sand adorned my hair. My
nose and cheeks were burned a deep pink. My left knee sluggishly bled crimson, and I had never

Chemical Compounds And The Compounds
The unknown compound was solid at room temperature and was white. It was soluble in water, as
indicated by Table 1. Of the list of possible known compounds, the unknown could not be CaCO3 or
MgCO3 because neither one of those compounds are soluble in water, but it could have been any
salt as the compound is ionic. From there, a conductivity test proved that the unknown compound
conducted 1.1 volts of electricity, meaning the compound contained both positively and negatively
charged ions that move around to conduct the electricity.
Potassium Sulfate has a solubility of 1 g in 8.3 mL of water, which matches with the results of the
unknown being soluble in water (The Merck Index). Ionic compounds, a form of polar compounds,

The potassium ion has an emission spectrum that is mainly blue and purple, with some red and
yellow lines (Petty). Combined, they form or lilac, sometimes pinky lilac color. This is consistent
with the results of the experiment.
Some possible discrepancies did occur in the initial identification of the cation in the unknown. At
first the flame burned slightly orange, indicating the cation could have been sodium. But, with
further testing and the use of a filter, the flame burned light pinky purple multiple times after. This
indicates that the burner was not fully clean and trace amounts of sodium could have existed in the
range of the flame. With more thorough testing and comparison, the identification of the cation as
potassium stands true.
To test the anion present in the compound, the investigators mixed the unknown with other known
compounds and observed the resulting reactions. The first anion test was performed by mixing the
unknown solution and silver nitrate and then adding in ammonium. No precipitate was formed
from that reaction so the unknown compound could not be bromide or iodide. The second anion
test was performed by mixing the unknown solution with barium chloride. A milky white
precipitate formed from that mixture so the anion present in the unknown compound was sulfate.
When two ionic compounds are mixed, a double displacement reaction occurs. In this case,
potassium sulfate was mixed with barium chloride. The

Determinism in Slaughterhouse-Five by Billy Pilgrim Essay
Determinism, particularly pre determinism, states that the origin of creation controls when and why
all events of the past, present, and future occur, which decisively contradicts the belief in free will
of the majority of humans in today s society. Slaughterhouse Five follows the life of Billy Pilgrim,
a young man who has become unstuck in time. The novel traces Billy s experiences during the
bombing of Dresden in World War II, an encounter with extraterrestrials, called Tralfamadorians,
and throughout his domestic life as a father, husband, and optometrist. In particular, Kurt Vonnegut
explores the bombing of Dresden and the effects thereof on Billy Pilgrim, forming Billy into an

While never a defeatist, Billy merely flows through his disjointed life without much heed to the
event at hand. Billy realizes that he holds the power to create his own happiness and satisfaction out
of life through appreciation of the present moment rather than contemplate the occurrence of past
and future. Vonnegut develops Billy Pilgrim as a unique protagonist as a means of forcing the
reader to question the application of free will upon society and gain a new perspective on the
beauty of the present. Once Billy becomes capable of time travel and comes into contact with the
Tralfamadorians, he simply goes through the motions of life but avoids falling into a defeatist
attitude. Under the tutelage of the Tralfamadorians, Billy fashions a brand new perspective towards
society and enhances his natural persona, When Billy accepts the Tralfamadorian philosophy, the
passivity that he has displayed his entire life from wanting to drift quietly at the bottom of the
YMCA pool after his father throws him in, to begging Roland Weary to leave him behind is
justified. If the future cannot be changed anyway, why even try? (Farrell 9). Though the interaction
with the Tralfamadorians seems to allow Billy an outlet to construct his own ideals upon the
universe, he nonetheless continues along the same path as before. Billy becomes an extremist
towards passivity in life rather than utilizing the experience to impart a strong impression

Essay about Life Changing Trip
In the summer of 2006 I was inspired to do something that inherently would never have even
crossed my mind. I was born and bred to be risk averse. My parents, the resolute material
providers that they are, taught me not to fend for myself, but rather to avoid confrontation
altogether. Their eastern culture centric and old fashioned way of child rearing has had a profound
effect on the way I lived my life. However, their penchant for negative reinforcement and their
inability to show physical affection never impeded me on having a fulfilling and moderately
successful life. One great void, or what I perceived as such, was my lack of worldly experience. I

I often wonder what type of person I would have been had I stayed in Taiwan and grew up
without the rigors and challenges that come with blending into a new culture. Only in hindsight
do I realize that having spent most of my formative years trying to be like everyone else around
me, I never allowed my inner self to grow. I was never encouraged by my parents to be
inquisitive, to explore the unknown, and to dare to be different. I have no doubt they were all
of those things themselves, because they are both extraordinary persons, having achieved
measurable success by capturing the American Dream. When I sat down with them over
Thanksgiving break, I interviewed them and confirmed that what they wanted was the best for
me The path of least resistance (1) and they felt obliged to provide that path by shielding and
guiding me away from the unknown, even though they endured and prospered from their

led me to a chain of decisions that literally brings me here today. First, my employer

aversive nature, but not in 2006. With little consultation and input from my parents I took that leap
of faith. Coinciding with this major decision was a dear friend s wedding in London in the

Information Age, All Share A Common Underlying Purpose
While there are a great variety of maps available in the information age, all share a common
underlying purpose. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s
objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed
instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the
interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic
definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can
be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map
of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R.
Crone s assentation that the purpose of a map is to graphically express the relations of points
and features on the Earth s surface to each other, determined by distance and direction (1953).
Yet, the clichГ©s do form a map. Indeed, a representation of things in their spatial relationship to

are invaluable in a number of different ways. The second edition of Map Use describes seven key
roles of a map: to record and store information, serve as computational aids, serve as mobility aids,
summarize complex representations and voluminous data, help us explore data, help us visualize

My Reflection Of My Leadership And Ethic Class
The leadership and ethic class was the first class of the semester and I did not know what to
expect. During my first class, I was greeted by many different persons all with different
personalities. From the second class onwards, each person made the class interesting and
contributed valid points to every discussion. Through discussions, each of us developed our own
philosophies about who we are and where we would like to go in life. 1. Describe what you have
learnt about yourself during the semester in relation to your capacity to demonstrate leadership.
I learnt that not all leaders are born but they are made. Some persons are born with the traits to
be a leader but through experience, they would blossom into a true leader. This class showed me
that I can become a leader and it showed me the possible traits a good leader should possess such
as, being inclusive, honest and respectful. All these attributes was a part of me so as of this class I

Describe the leadership philosophy you have developed throughout this class. My Leadership
Philosophy is based on the principals that I have learned throughout this leadership and ethics
class. Leadership is about creating an environment that brings out the best in people,
accomplishing goals, and making each individual and the team successful. The following is my
leadership philosophy: The foundation of my leadership philosophy is built on trust, respect and
integrity. I plan to earn your trust and respect by being of good character, working hard, listening
attentively, being decisive, honest and true to my word, and never asking you to do something
that I would not do myself. You can earn my trust and respect by being honest and of good
character, making sound and timely decisions and owning up to your mistakes. Finally, I welcome
diverse perspectives, differences of opinion and I do not necessarily view disagreement as a sign
of disloyalty. 4. How has it changed from the beginning of the

Chaucer s Code Of Chivalry
The foremost aspect of chivalry that should be understood is what this code of conduct actually
implied for the nobles of the Medieval Ages. When it comes to the concept of chivalry developed
during the time of the Crusades in the middle Ages, it began as a code of conduct for the knights.
For them, their actions were not solely occasional, but rather a way of life. The key ideals behind
chivalry were not intelligible acts that could be performed. Yet, they were about attitudes and
virtues that should be owned. The standard of chivalry, nonetheless, had considerably deeper roots.
An author of Bloody Constraint, Theodor Meron said, War and Chivalry in Shakespeare, states that
the practitioners of chivalry, the knights, were expected to be cultivated... Show more content on

But Politeness should be the expression of a benevolent regard for the feelings of others; it s a
poor virtue if it s motivated only by a fear of offending good taste. In its highest form Politeness
approaches love. Modesty and complaisance, actuated by respect for others‟ feelings, are at the
root of politeness 13. Politeness is yet another typical Japanese virtue; however, Nitobe makes
sure that it is not a superficial display of adulation but a sincere expression of care and concern
for others: Politeness is a poor virtue, if it is actuated only by a fear of offending good taste,
whereas it should be the outward manifestation of a sympathetic regard for the feelings of others.
It also implies a due regard for the fitness of things, therefore due respect to social positions 14. He
also gives an excellent explanation for the seemingly different practice of gift giving between the
Japanese and Western customs. That is, whereas Westerners present their gifts as wonderful and
excellent items, Japanese give theirs saying they are poor and useless ones. Nitobe expounds that
these two contrasting practices actually convey the same feeling and thought; they are just two
ways of saying the same thing. In other words,

Why School Should Be Searched
firstly, I think that school should be searched because it would make the school safe. It will
make the school safer because it will get rid of drug and weapon in the school. BY searching the
school for drugs it will send the drugs to jail and or to drug abuse place to help them. Also by
arrested the kid that have drugon them it will teaches them a lesson to not do drug and not to
bring them to school. Also you can find there deal and send him to jail for traffic . Over all it
would make the city and the school s better as there is one more drug dealer off the street to sell
to kids. with one of the effect of most drug is that impact your learning, so if there were no
people that do drug in the school the school avenge will go up and less of a chance of doing
stupid thing like starting a fight or bring a weapon to school. Also by getting rid of weapon at
school it will make them safe. there have been many shooting in Canada and around the world.
Most notably in the USA. But Canada still has it fair share of shooting such as 2013: Les

Furthermore, root causes of conflict on the continent are often associated with internal issues or an
African problem . Alison Ayers discusses the false perception of civil war and failed states that
have been created and implemented by the West (Ayers 2012). She disputes that civil war is
internally instigated and only portrayed this way due to western representations of Africathrough

politically convenient (Ayers 2012, 261). Her implications here suggest that these ideological
subjugations render African regions vulnerable for the use of exploitation and continuous
dependency on external powers. This becomes the norm of African perception

And Did Those Feet In Ancient Time
Language, Usage, and Style in And Did Those Feet in Ancient Time In And Did Those Feet in
Ancient Time, William Blake expertly combines language, usage, and style to create this short
poem that would later become the preface to his epic Milton: a Poem. Blake puts emphasis on
the narrator s diction, syntax, and tone to delineate the narrator s thoughts and feelings that
complement his purpose in this poem. The diction in this poem is largely neutral, if not
informal. Blake uses common vocabulary; however, he refrains from slang and colloquial
diction. The narrator s language is strong, yet it is also lyrical as it was fit to be adapted into an
anthem called Jerusalem by Sir Hubert Parry in 1916 (Dibble). The poem is written in first person,
and there is no alternate dialogue. The narrator s diction is in a language that can be understood by
the common Englishman. This is pertinent as the major themes of the poem are of biblical
allusions, and the Bible has been translated for the common man.... Show more content on

Diagnosis And Treatment Of The Thoracic Spine
The thoracic spine is considered the least vulnerable to a disc herniation due to anatomic stability.
Although they are rare, physically demanding jobs, trauma, and extreme sports can lead to a
thoracic disc herniation (TDH). In order to be effectively treated, a TDH needs to be successfully
diagnosed. Successful diagnosis relies on a good differential diagnosis and magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI), the gold standard for visualizing a disc herniation. Once diagnosed, there are many
treatment options, which range from conservative care to invasive surgery. Rehabilitative therapy
can be an effective and safe way to manage a TDH. Surgery can also be effective, but there are
serious complications and risks associated. Considering patients with... Show more content on

Over the course of 15 treatments, the patient s symptoms improved and eventually disappeared.
Five months later, an MRI study of the patient displayed significant regression of the TDH. This
case is a good example regarding the positive impact of conservative care on the management of a
TDH. Although a disc herniation may naturally regress overtime, rehabilitation can support the
process and help restore function.
Rehabilitation can be an effective short term therapy, but the long term effects are questionable. As
discussed earlier, the soccer player studied by Baranto et al. (2) was promptly diagnosed and
treated conservatively for a TDH. This athlete went through a physical therapy trial and eventually
was symptom free. When the symptoms resolved, the soccer player continued to train while
gradually increasing the intensity. By the following soccer season, the player suffered a similar
episode and was diagnosed with a recurrent TDH. Once again, the patient was symptom free after
conservative treatment and playing soccer. About a year passed when he experienced another onset
of symptoms during training, and was then advised to stop playing. This patient was prone to
reoccurrence, which questions the long term effects of treatment. Timely and compliant treatment
got this athlete back on the field, but the intensity of the sport hindered the healing process.
Although not all TDH s are promptly diagnosed, they can still be managed effectively once
discovered. This

The World On A Turtle s Back Analysis
DC American Literature Semester Final
American literature has evolved greatly from the Native Americans to 1870 s. American literature
has changed, it teaches us how we have become more independent ourselves. The World on a Turtle
s Back, a myth, The Scarlet Letter, a book in a puritan setting, and A Rose for Emily is a southern
gothic story. American literature would not be the same today without these forms of writing. The
teachings from these are passed down generation to generation.
The World on a Turtle s Back is a Iroquois myth about the creation of earth. This belief is related
to the biblical belief about creation. Both portray a story of a woman wanting to enjoy the
forbidden fruit. After they eat of this forbidden fruit, good and evil is created. According to the
myth good prevails over the day and bad rules over the night. The days of creation are represented
by the woman planting roots and plants while riding the back of the turtle, the night is created by
the right handed twin cutting off the grandmother s head and tossing it into the sky, and the seas

A Look Into Inner City Poverty
Inner city distress in the American economy is not the only pressing issue facing the nation. Lack
of businesses and jobs in most inner cities fuels a crushing cycle of poverty and crippling social
problems like crime and drug abuse. As the condition of inner cities continue to worsen, debate on
how to improve them through such measures as education, financial and technical assistance has
continued to grow. The sad reality is that efforts from the past decades to address the causes of
inner cities poverty have failed. Attempts to establish a sustainable economy through the creation of
employment opportunities, wealth creation, and improved infrastructure (Kasarda, 4) have not

Private investment is based on self interest and a genuine competitive advantage, and as such will
then be sustaining in the long term, and is not dependent upon federal funding programs. There is
need to develop an economic model that will begin on the premise that inner city businesses must
be profitable and in a good position to compete on regional, national and international scale.
Several issues have led to social problems in the inner city. Sub standard educational opportunities,
high rates of unemployment, high crime rates, broken families, and inadequate housing
characterize most inner city neighborhoods. In the 19th century, the inner city was the central
point for industrial activities, among which neighborhoods were established with rows of
terraced houses for the industrial based, low paid workers (Wilson, 14). In the latter half of the
20th century, factories in the inner city were closed and relocated to suburban locations causing
decay and economic decline in the cities they left behind. This economic trend created many
social problems including poverty through lack of employment. As this trend progressed those
able to move and follow the suburban jobs left the inner city, creating pools of disadvantaged
minorities in their wake subject to growing social problem. These social problems will be
examined in this research as to how they contributed to the high rate of poverty in the inner city.
There is high rate of poverty in the inner

Persuasive Speech On Whaling
Known for being the main attraction at SeaWorld, whales are often admired by tourists and locals.
Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that
they breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and
porpoises and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial
whalingbecause it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the
solution to this problem may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different
species, but the biggest of them all is the Blue Whaleweighing in at about 150 tons and growing up
to 110 feet long. The earliest record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 ,
these aquatic mammals have been hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they
often hunted whales for their blubber, oil and wax, most of which were important ingredients for
many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A list of endangered species includes whales such as,
Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales, Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga
whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not only has whaling, the act of killing whales for
their resources, affected the list of endangered species, but so has the loss of their territory. Certain
species like the Beluga have become endangered due to the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted
their territory.
Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards
the whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and
impale the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away,
dragging it back and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today
s society, the weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically
propelled meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now
subjects to kill. The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling
since it was created in the 1940s. If commercial whaling were to go unchecked, unregulated hunting
of whales would ve

Energy Consumption In Iraq
Iraq emerged as the second largest producer of crude oil within the Organization of the

The commonly employed insulation materials are fiberglass, cotton, and foams. In this standpoint,
TES systems are attractive due to their energy economy in buildings. Currently, the major concern
involving the modern buildings environment is related to the necessity of energy efficient
sustainable structures together with intuitive design and architecture. Management of energy
supply and demand equilibrium requires their constant preservation. 2.2Buildings Management
with Phase Change Materials Based on heat storage capability TES media are classified in to
sensible heat storage (SHS) and latent heat storage (LHS). In SHS during phase change, the heat is
stored or released in the storage media together with temperature alteration. Conversely, in the LHS
materials heat is stored or released during phase change processes in the form of fusion
/solidification. PCM undergoes a phase change from a solid to liquid state or vice versa when the
temperature increases or decreases respectively. It is the phenomena of phase transformation that
enables the PCM to store and release significant amounts of latent heat during the phase changes.
LHTES systems are created by impregnating organic, inorganic, or eutectic compounds into
construction elements including wallboard and concrete. They are promising due to their prevalent
acceptance and subsequent adaptation as building materials in the entire buildings environment.

Transcontinental Railroad
Transcontinental is going across a continent, and transcontinental railroads are the means that are
used to go across continents from Eastern to the Western part of United States. The Union Pacific
railroad offered railroad transport from New York on the Atlantic Coast, all the way to California,
on the Pacific Coast of United States. The project of the railroad terminated in 1869, which was
pioneered by two companies, which were Union Pacific and Central Pacific, built the railroad from
east and west, and they met at Utah. Central Pacific laborers mainly consisted of the Chinese, while
those in Union Pacific were mainly Irish. Both companies gave their workers harsh working
conditions. The railroad made a major impact on transcontinental transportation but was faced by
some dangers and difficulties.
Overland route, which was previously referred to as Pacific railroad is 3500 miles long. The main
funder of the railroad was the US government through the offering of higher loans and bonds
(Healey 460). Also, the government offered land grants for usage in the construction. 1830 was the
first time that a locomotive set off in the railroads, and that sparked the development of the rail
network in the country.
A bill was set, which was supposed to guide the construction of the railroad. Central Pacific
Railroad was supposed to start the construction in Sacramento and push towards the

The Irony Of Differing Perspectives
The Irony of Differing Perspectives
Till 1827, the idea of sobriety was practically non existent in North America . Taverns were open
at all times of day and were a place of encounter for everyone regardless of class, race and gender.
Moreover, they facilitated political negotiations, economic exchanges and interracial sociability .
So, where did the idea of reducing alcohol consumption come from amid the booming socio
economic stability that taverns seemed to provide?
Except for Peter DeLottinville who recounts the honest events that occurred in Joe Beef s Canteen,
the other authors claim that the temperance movement was used for ulterior motives than it
appeared to be on the surface. For instance, in Glenn J. Lockwood s Temperance in ... Show more

During the period of time that the temperance movement was gaining momentum, the Catholic
church hopped on board to speed up the process and gain as many converts as they could using their
up until then secret weapon: Chiniquy. However, the hidden intention/objective was to regain the
Catholic church s popularity and confidence after Catholics were becoming outnumbered by the
influx of Irish famine immigrants and wanted to become more industrious and progressive (cite).
Unlike all of the previously mentioned authors, DeLottinville does not imply that Joe Beef tried
his best to alleviate problems of housing, job hunting, healthcare and labor unrest with any kind of
hidden agenda. Beef genuinely cared for the welfare of the working class of Montreal and took it
upon himself to represent/assume the voice of the casual laborers . In this case, the Middle Class
was the one benefiting from the temperance movement as they were afraid Beef would succeed
and have laborers demands adhered to. In the same way that Beef s canteen was a place where
every grade in the social scale was represented (CHANGE), many other taverns were also used for
both political and economic interracial exchanges and relationships.
In other words, whereas taverns were used as tools to strengthen a sense of belonging and security,
and often attempted to prove the worthiness of the lower classes, temperance was

Understanding Early Childhood Educational Programs
Understanding Early Childhood Educational Programs: Young Children Education and
development plays an important role in young children s lives and children that participate in an
early educational program set the foundation to achieve more success for post secondary

Understanding: Montessori Methodology In the Montessori methodology, all curriculum areas
arranged into five areas: practical life, sensorial, language, math, and cultural. Each activity is
carefully sequenced that is has a methodical, engaging logic the purpose is to help children
develop problem solving skills in real practical ways, (Johnson, 2006). While engaged in
discovering autonomy children displayed a joyous and happy nature when taking the initiative to
explore new things. In the practical life setting is the heartbeat, so to speak of the Montessori,
(Johnson, 2006), because respecting a child s desire to exercise independency, and build s the child
s confidence elevates pride in themselves. Understanding: HighScope Approach The HighScope
approach teaches children how to use words to express emotions. Children learn that words have
meaning (HighScope Preschool, 2014), and have as much impact as touching. As the teacher
acknowledges the child is frustrated, but remains calm and sensitive to the child. The child learns
to self regulate their behavior, even if the anger is warranted, but how

Sop Statement Of Purpose For Electrical Engineering
ACADEMIC STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Fall 2016 In 1965, Gordon Moore, the co founder of Intel,
predicted that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit will double every two years. Today
the electronics industry is at a critical junction where Moore s law may be slowing down due to
scaling limitations. Engineering innovation is required to fuel the next generation of computing
from smart watches to virtual reality headsets. It is this engineering challenge that compels me to
apply for University of Michigan s Master s program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My
journey in the field of electronics began when I joined Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT,
Delhi University) as an undergraduate in the Electronics Communication Engineering (ECE)
division. Keen to have a strong engineering base, I focused on foundational courses such as

The Tragedy Of A Disaster
Disaster is seen by most as a circumstance or occasion that outcomes in misfortune and mishap. In
cutting edge society, it isn t uncommon to hear people name something as inconsequential as
breaking their telephone screen a disaster. Be that as it may, disaster is more intricate. Aristotle
rethinks catastrophe through the lense of dramatization as the impersonation of an activity that is

in a sensational as opposed to account shape; with occurrences exciting compassion and dread,
wherewith to achieve a purge of these feelings. Through the eyes of Aristotle, a catastrophe
incorporates occasions in a play that would bring about pathetic emotions towards the primary
character, or shocking saint, to emerge inside the group of onlookers individuals. Not just ought to
the gathering of people feel a feeling of pity, yet they ought to feel a feeling of dread amid the
movement of the play for the deplorable saint since they can suspect the sad legend s destruction
before the anagnorisis. There is a typical conviction that legends come in capes, can accomplish the
unachievable, and are faultless. Aristotle challenges that conviction with the terrible legend. To
him, a lamentable saint is thought to be a person whose difficulty emerges, not through bad habit or
evil but rather by some mistake of judgment. The heartbreaking legend is portrayed as moral and

The Call Os Guinness
In my reflection of The Call this week, if I were to sum it up in one word it would be
responsibility . If a call is to have any legitimacy it has to be saturated in integrity; integrity cannot
exist unless we are diligent in the responsibilities of that call.
Once your journey begins you become more and more visible to those around you; family, work
mates, church members, and neighbors. If we are to have any influence in the lives of those we
live among and mission, we MUST be responsible ministers.
We cannot live in fear of messing up but we should live as though it matters if we do. If mistakes

The first was the story of Arthur F Burns when asked to pray at the informal White house prayer
group, it was a classic. In this chapter, as he dealt with the responsibly we have to be Christians
out loud and on purpose, I loved the mention of the t shirt that said, Jesus, save me from your
followers . I have prayed that prayer a few times myself.
Courage and Calling Gordon T. Smith
As I read the first two chapters I could see a pattern of learning. The things discussed about life
long learning is a soap box I speak from myself. The way things change so fast; if you want to be
effective in many areas of ministry today you have to constantly learn. What we are doing in the
class in a testament to the desire we have to be equipped for the task set before us.
The following chapter shared how life teaches lessons as well. Sometimes these have a much great
price and toll on us, but ever experience is a lesson to teach and a testimony to share.
As Smith closes out his book he shares some sound information concerning we we flourish in our
ministry. A calling is sacred, the preparation for that calling in ministry is essential, but if I cannot
find a place to exercise my calling in the body of Christ I am likened to the unfaithful servant who

Life Changing Experience In My Family
When I was around the age of seven years old, I had experienced one of the biggest life changing
events in my entire family. What started as a small stomach ache in school had grown into a rock
hard abdomen and immense pain in the course of two weeks. My parents finally noticed
something was wrong when I refused to go to the bathroom or even eat and my face was turning
very pale. A short visit to the emergency showed that I had developed a lymphangioma tumor in my
abdomen. This occurred, according to the doctors, mainly in my small intestinebut quickly grew out
of control. At this point my parents and I were mortified as I was still a young child at the time.
I was told by the emergency specialists that the only hospital with the equipment to treat me was
located in Coral Terrace and it went by the name of Miami Children s Hospital. This posed quite
a perplexing problem because I lived in Port Saint Lucie at the time of this incident. One option
that was brought up to my parents was an air lift from the rescue chopper but it was quickly
dismissed as it was in need of repairs. I had passed out around this point still in the emergency
room and the next thing I knew I had awoken inside of an ambulance with my mother sobbing and
a paramedictending to some machinery. The only thing that I could focus on was the unbearable
pain that was in my abdomen and I was informed that I already had too much morphinein my
system and I couldn t have more or else it would have disastrous

  • 2. American Education Essay American Education Today s schools have standardized promotion requirements in the hopes that all students will be promoted in fairness. Like most states, Ohio s criteria for promotion in grade school include a passing grade in English composition, mathematics, science and reading. There are state mandated benchmarks that must be met in all of these areas. The four levels of grading are: Advanced student performs at a superior level; Proficient student has a solid performance; Deficient student s performance is lacking; Failing student s performance is unsatisfactory. A student must be proficient or better in all areas to qualify for promotion. Also, if a student is not performing in the C range or better in a majority of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the state of Ohio uses these proficiency tests to evaluate the schools themselves. The schools must pass all areas to retain accreditation. Approximately 93% of schools evaluated are failing in at least one area (1998 99 1). This creates problems, as teachers, under pressure to perform well, tend to teach toward the tests. Instead of having fun with their students and exploring areas related to the topic, the teacher focuses on the areas the students will be tested over. That is, their curriculum loses its wide range and tunnels towards the information covered on the tests. This tunneling tends to narrow our children s education. The percentages of failures indicate change is needed. A new form of educating our children, which is really a return to the schoolhouse type of education, is Mixed Age Education. MAE is an educational program built on the premise that different children learn different things at different rates. This program allows children to be organized not by age, but by skill level. The groups are generally divided into K 2 and 3 5. A child may be in Kindergarten level math and first level reading or fourth grade science and fifth grade English. The child s progress is frequently assessed for trouble areas and to determine when he or she is ready to advance to the next level in each individual area of teaching. A child s progress is ... • 3. Relational Database Management Systems ( Rdbmss ) Essay At the U.S. Census Bureau, hundreds, perhaps more than a thousand heterogeneous databases are currently operating. Some divisions have standardized the database technology on Oracle, while others are using a combination of Sybase, MySQL, SQL Server, etc. These Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMSs), supporting many databases and applications and each hosted on dedicated servers, are often under utilizing the server resources available to them. Such a database infrastructure, therefore, is not cost , or resource effective from a maintenance or administrative standpoint. Consequently, the best solution to mitigate these issues involves the implementation of database consolidation technology. Database consolidation is the process of centralizing database resources, so that they are shareable among several databases and instances. In other words, it is the process of consolidating databases from multiple servers onto one or fewer servers. For example, Multitenant Architecture of Oracle 12c moves the database management principle to a completely new level with database consolidation. Consequently, for the U.S. Census Bureau, consolidation initiatives such as the following are beneficial: Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) fewer licenses and fewer administrative personnel Improved availability improved service level agreements (SLAs) Improved security security on a consolidated server is easier to administer than on several individual servers Improved ... • 5. The Treatment Of Immigrant Women Essay Although immigrant women play a big role in America s society and economy, they have been constantly mistreated and looked down upon throughout history. Not only do they face the burden of the stratifications that their gender entails but they also struggle to adopt the American culture and norms. America was viewed as the land of opportunities and economic prosperity, a perspective that draws in many immigrant women who were willing to leave their families and possessions to come to this foreign country in hopes of a better life. In America, they faced many challenges as they not only had to work long hours but also took care of their families and do housework as well. They struggled to make a standard living out of low wage jobs and assimilating into America s society. Today, the treatment of immigrant women has improved greatly as they have stood together and fought for their rights. Immigrant women have built communities and held strikes for better pay and treatment. Although America has made great strides in improving treatment of immigrant women, there is still social injustice. Immigrant women have come a long way from the first time they entered America until now, but their stories are often left untold and omitted from American history. Immigrant women cover many ethnic groups from around the world such as Chinese, Japanese, Jews, Irish and Mexicans. Upon their first arrival in America, these groups of immigrant women have all been through similar yet different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On demolition of this farm house, the birds will become homeless and the oxygen production will be decreased (Plant, 2004). This is a direct impact of this construction project on the environment. It must be kept in mind that we are only considering the environmental factor and impacts here and we do not have to mention the property rights of the owner of the farm house, has he been adequately compensated and dealt with before the start of this project. We just assume that the owner of the farm house has been dealt with considering all his rights and he is agreed to give away the rights and authority of this farm house to the contractors of the new project. The demolition will not only cause damage to the greenery of the neighborhood but also will enhance the pollution in the form of dust and noise. This will impact the neighbors of the housing complex which is only one thousand feet away from this project s site. The first activity which is to be expected to be done first is the clearance of vegetation which is a direct damage to the environment. The agricultural value and output of this land will be multiplied with zero once the vegetations will be cleared of the surface. 200 acre of the farm land which this project has bought for the current project is a vast land and clear vegetation from it will damage not only the view from the site but also will be a decrease in economy. Barns are used for much more than just a storage place, and they can describe a location or be part of a place s history. An old barn could just be a pile of rotting wood, but by the same token, the Mona Lisa could simply be described as a piece of canvas with some pigments attached. As one can see, when looking at barns through different perspectives, one might gain a new appreciation. Barnpreservation is an important way for the values of a society to be preserved just as certainly as art preservation helps society to celebrate and remember its heritage. • 10. Leisure and Lifestyle At the beginning of this course leisure was a topic I did not give much thought to and I felt like I did not have the time to spare to put much thought into. To me, all leisure meant was having free time to do whatever it is that I wanted to do. But after analyzing my life I noticed that I had surrounded my life with solely work and school and my free time was anytime I spent watching television and anytime I slept. However, after taking this course I learned that leisuremeant more much than that. Now leisure to me means, as Richard Kraus states, leisure is time which is not devoted to work or work connected responsibilities or to other forms of discretionary or unobligated time, (Olson et al., 2003, 12). The time in which Kraus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, the same situation most likely applies for many people. Yes, many do spend most of their time at work but assuredly if they were to reevaluate their time spent, they most definitely may find some of their extra time that could be spent on leisure. Without having or developing good time management skills, one may find it easier to stress out or find it easy to not make time for leisure. The results for a study conducted on 249 college students showed that the combination of anxiety reduction and effective time management affiliated with participating in leisure activities can be an effective technique for reducing academic stress (Misra McKean, 2000, 41). The same study also states that, campus recreation practitioners may plan leisure activities and social recreational pursuits that increase the educational benefit from leisure pursuits to help students handle their academic stress, (Misra McKean, 2000, 49). So therefore, there is time for leisure as long as we learn how to manage our time. Once we find time to participate in those activities we desired for so long, it will help cope with nerve racking situations that surround our lives. Besides keeping us from stressing, leisure also keeps us entertained and it helps stirs us away from being bored. Many of us can easily admit (I know I can) that when we finally do have time for leisure activities we end up sitting on the couch in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Multi Touch Screen Essay Multi Touch Screens vs. Mouse Driven Screens As the use of computers and other electronic devices is growing by day, new and better technologies in the way that these devices are made are finding their way into the computer world. The result of this has been an increase in computer related applications, better electronics and more complex systems being developed for use (Norman, 2007). As such, this has prompted different electronic designers to come up with the most appropriate technologies that make it easier for different users to interact with the availed technologies. The result of this has been the product of both the Multi Touch Screen and the Mouse Driven Screens interfaces. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply to multi touch screens and applications running on them Generally, there are two key forms of monitor interfaces that should be highly considered in the process of designing different computer applications namely the multi touch screen interface and the mouse driven interface. The controlling actions that are carried out by different computer users tend to have different preferences when it comes to the use of different computer applications uses (Dearden, 2008). Time serves as a vital role in a tragedy, for as time progresses, a character s inevitable and ill fated end draws closer and closer. In Shakespeare s play, Macbethbecomes completely consumed by time as he is fixated on an illusory future and becomes haunted by his inescapable, bloodstained past. Yet, he also recognizes that if he were to disturb the natural time and progression of events in this bank and shoal of time (I.vii.6), he would be jeopardizing his future, for he would still have judgment here (I.vii.8). As Macbeth ponders whether or not to kill his king in order to try to become king himself, his main hesitations arise from the fact that, if he does kill Duncan, he will be consumed by guilt and will suffer judgment and consequences in both this world and in the afterlife. Paralleling Hamlet s to be or not to be speech, Macbeth s uncertainty about the afterlife and what will arise from his mortal actions cause him to desire to proceed no further in this business (31). Thus, Macbeth s attention on the afterlife reveals his state of mind relative to time at this point in the play as he focuses on the future while debating whether to essentially overleap time and make himself King of Scotland, or wait and see if the witches prophecy will come true. However, in regards to the prophecies, the witches never mention when anything will take place. Thus, Macbeth is left with an internal struggle as he ponders whether to let nature run its course and hopefully become king naturally, or whether to disturb the normal order of the world and overrun the natural progression of time to ensure his crowning. A brief analysis of the case study AOL engaged in what is called micro tasking , and is believed to revolutionize the virtual workforce. Micro tasking is what Daniel Maloney, an AOL executive, applied when he was faced with inventorying a vast video library. He broke the large job into small pieces and utilized a crowdsourcing IT platform, Mechanical Turk, in order to describe each task that he required to be done. What factors should be considered when deciding whether or not to crowdsource a particular part of a business? I think the following three points implies factors to decide. 1) Any tasks that require advanced knowledge in a certain area should not be crowd sourced. Because managers controls a large number of workers and review the quality of services, critical functions related to company s brand should not be crowd sourced. 2)Even if each company has its strategic capability, crowdsourcing vital areas that sustain company s capabilities might lead a company to lose its advantage. 3) Crowd sourcing is more suitable for non creative, simple works to be break into micro tasks. 2 4. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of crowdsourcing. I consider that the advantages of crowdsourcing not only reduce cost, but also provide working opportunities with a large number of general people. For example, 1) Total labor cost can be reduced. 2) It s generally faster than hiring temp staff or traditional outsourcing firms 3)Mothers, who quit working even if they have working experiences, can utilize working opportunities in order to work as a part time job. 4) Crowdsourcing provide NEET (Not in Education, Employed and Trained) people with opportunities to join something social activities. Example Of Personal Narrative Essay In Spanish When I first stepped onto the tarmac, I was apprehensive and excited, gazing at the indigo mountains of the Montserrat in amazement, and as I turned to follow the rest of the passengers to the terminal, I promptly tripped on my suitcase and went sprawling. I traveled to Barcelona, Spain last July to help a family teach their daughter English and to discover a whole new world I d never experienced before. The trip was a whirlwind of tapas and teaching, with several bike rides to the beach dispersed throughout. Three weeks after my arrival, I was conversing in fluent Spanish to a cheerful stranger after being tumbled by a rogue Mediterranean wave. Strands of seaweed and pearly white grains of sand adorned my hair. My nose and cheeks were burned a deep pink. My left knee sluggishly bled crimson, and I had never felt more beautiful. Of the list of possible known compounds, the unknown could not be CaCO3 or MgCO3 because neither one of those compounds are soluble in water, but it could have been any salt as the compound is ionic. From there, a conductivity test proved that the unknown compound conducted 1.1 volts of electricity, meaning the compound contained both positively and negatively charged ions that move around to conduct the electricity. The potassium ion has an emission spectrum that is mainly blue and purple, with some red and yellow lines (Petty). Combined, they form or lilac, sometimes pinky lilac color. This is consistent with the results of the experiment. Some possible discrepancies did occur in the initial identification of the cation in the unknown. At first the flame burned slightly orange, indicating the cation could have been sodium. But, with further testing and the use of a filter, the flame burned light pinky purple multiple times after. This indicates that the burner was not fully clean and trace amounts of sodium could have existed in the range of the flame. With more thorough testing and comparison, the identification of the cation as potassium stands true. To test the anion present in the compound, the investigators mixed the unknown with other known compounds and observed the resulting reactions. The first anion test was performed by mixing the unknown solution and silver nitrate and then adding in ammonium. No precipitate was formed from that reaction so the unknown compound could not be bromide or iodide. The second anion test was performed by mixing the unknown solution with barium chloride. A milky white precipitate formed from that mixture so the anion present in the unknown compound was sulfate. When two ionic compounds are mixed, a double displacement reaction occurs. In this case, potassium sulfate was mixed with barium chloride. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Determinism in Slaughterhouse-Five by Billy Pilgrim Essay Determinism, particularly pre determinism, states that the origin of creation controls when and why all events of the past, present, and future occur, which decisively contradicts the belief in free will of the majority of humans in today s society. Slaughterhouse Five follows the life of Billy Pilgrim, a young man who has become unstuck in time. The novel traces Billy s experiences during the bombing of Dresden in World War II, an encounter with extraterrestrials, called Tralfamadorians, and throughout his domestic life as a father, husband, and optometrist. Once Billy becomes capable of time travel and comes into contact with the Tralfamadorians, he simply goes through the motions of life but avoids falling into a defeatist attitude. The fourth edition of Elements of Cartography concisely defines a map s objective as to add to the geological understanding of the viewer; it is a carefully designed instrument for recording, calculating, displaying, analyzing and, in general, understanding the interrelation of things in their spatial relationship (Robinson et al. 1978). This is a truly holistic definition of a map, addressing not only geographical features but quite literally anything that can be displayed spatially on Earth. An excellent example that fits this definition is the clichГ© map of Canada distributed to the class. This map would not fit a more archaic definition, like G. R. Crone s assentation that the purpose of a map is to graphically express the relations of points and features on the Earth s surface to each other, determined by distance and direction (1953). Yet, the clichГ©s do form a map. Indeed, a representation of things in their spatial relationship to add to the geological understanding of the viewer is truly what a map is. These representations are invaluable in a number of different ways. The second edition of Map Use describes seven key roles of a map: to record and store information, serve as computational aids, serve as mobility aids, summarize complex representations and voluminous data, help us explore data, help us visualize what would be otherwise obscure, and ... Lack of businesses and jobs in most inner cities fuels a crushing cycle of poverty and crippling social problems like crime and drug abuse. As the condition of inner cities continue to worsen, debate on how to improve them through such measures as education, financial and technical assistance has continued to grow. The sad reality is that efforts from the past decades to address the causes of inner cities poverty have failed. Several issues have led to social problems in the inner city. Sub standard educational opportunities, high rates of unemployment, high crime rates, broken families, and inadequate housing characterize most inner city neighborhoods. In the 19th century, the inner city was the central point for industrial activities, among which neighborhoods were established with rows of terraced houses for the industrial based, low paid workers (Wilson, 14). In the latter half of the 20th century, factories in the inner city were closed and relocated to suburban locations causing decay and economic decline in the cities they left behind. This economic trend created many social problems including poverty through lack of employment. As this trend progressed those able to move and follow the suburban jobs left the inner city, creating pools of disadvantaged minorities in their wake subject to growing social problem. These social problems will be examined in this research as to how they contributed to the high rate of poverty in the inner city. There is high rate of poverty in the inner ... Some may call whales fish, but they aren t, whales are considered mammals due to the fact that they breathe air. They re apart of the group called Cetaceans which also includes dolphins and porpoises and they can be found throughout many oceans. We hardly shed light on commercial whalingbecause it doesn t seem to affect us as humans; however, knowing that we could be the solution to this problem may change many views on this horrid topic. Whales have many different species, but the biggest of them all is the Blue Whaleweighing in at about 150 tons and growing up to 110 feet long. The earliest record of whaling as an organized business is dated about 875 , these aquatic mammals have been hunted for thousands of years now. In the 20th century, they often hunted whales for their blubber, oil and wax, most of which were important ingredients for many things like soap, lamps and lipstick. A list of endangered species includes whales such as, Bowhead whales, Gray whales, Blue whales, Humpback whales, Right whales, Sei whales, Beluga whales, Finback whales, Sperm whales, etc. Not only has whaling, the act of killing whales for their resources, affected the list of endangered species, but so has the loss of their territory. Certain species like the Beluga have become endangered due to the loss of habitat as mankind has corrupted their territory. Whaling started off with the crewman on a ship rowing themselves in a separate boat towards the whale. Once they were close enough, they would throw a harpoon attached to a long rope and impale the whale. The long rope was necessary to tire out the whale as it tried to swim away, dragging it back and killing it with lances. But times have changed and so has technology, in today s society, the weapons they used before have improved drastically. The harpoons are mechanically propelled meaning, they explode on impact. Whales that were too fast for the hunters are now subjects to kill. The International Whaling Commission (IWC), has changed commercial whaling since it was created in the 1940s. The Union Pacific railroad offered railroad transport from New York on the Atlantic Coast, all the way to California, on the Pacific Coast of United States. The project of the railroad terminated in 1869, which was pioneered by two companies, which were Union Pacific and Central Pacific, built the railroad from east and west, and they met at Utah.
