Egypt Vs. Egypt s Way Of Life
Egypt is very different from India s way of life. I worked around the priests and nobles and you
could tell right away that they were not very courteous to those under them. Each day I go down
to get the queen s dates and wine, I would pass Ramses the Magnificent (Only he calls himself
that) who is the queen s most dependable merchant because of his ability to get the necessary
items for the palace in a day. Everywhere I went there were about ten guards posted, I even had
my personal guard courtesy of her highness. If I could be queen I would let everyone be free of
judgement and marry whomever they please and do whatever job they would please. My job as
Cleopatra s lady in waiting became very interesting today. I had just come from helping

Burnout Is A Predominant Matter Within The World
Burnout is a very predominant matter within the world, especially among pastors. There are many
attributing factors to pastoral burnout, such as; working too many hours, inadequate time spent
refilling spiritually, lacking friends and support systems (Chandler 2), and the need to please
everyone (Olsen and Grosch 300). Research has shown that burnout is composed of three aspects:
emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment (Maslach and
Jackson). In David Olsen and William Grosch s article they write; it is easier to attempt to deal
with a situation early, than to attempt to put the pieces back together (300). It is possible to live a
healthy pastoral life without suffering burnout and I intend to prevent this in my own personal life
and ministry.
One of the most important things I can do to prevent burnout is to continue to develop my prayer
life. When pastors have a healthy prayer life and are confident in God hearing their prayers, it
causes them to be both pastorally healthy and physically healthy (Francis, Robbins, and Wulff 322).
On the contrary, those who do not have confidence in their prayer life are more susceptible to
suffering pastoral burnout (Francis, Robbins, and Wulff 322). These statistics are unmistakable
proof that I must place my relationship with God above ministry, relationships, and any other tasks
required of me. In order to maintain consistency in my prayer life, I am committing to spend the
first waking minutes of

Analysis of Engineering Student Motivation using the Expectancy Value Theory
Eric Gauck

Colorado State University
JTC 300 R27 eric.gauck@gmail.com Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine the initial preconceptions that engineering freshmen
believe when they first arrive at Colorado State University. Specifically, it will examine the
dichotomies between student perception and reality; hopefully revealing the perceptions and values
which lead students to leave or persevere in engineering. The focus of analysis on student
motivation utilizes the Expectancy ValueTheory. Three aspects of the Expectancy Value Theory,
expectation, utility, and perseverance, are significant factors which contribute to the completion of
challenges. These factors are integrated into a questionnaire designed to evaluate the expectations
of freshman engineering students. The implementation of a numerically scaled questionnaire
developed from components of the Expectancy Value Theory allows the abstract concept of
motivation to be quantified. The analysis of 86 freshman engineering students found that students
will need to develop a value in what they are learning or a drive for future goals to persist in
completing their declared degrees. Further data collection is recommended to improve sample
quality.
Introduction
This empirical report tests a sample population to better understand the motivations and
expectations for freshman engineering students. The intent

Hip Hop Fashion Research Paper
The majority of styles seen in Hip Hop today originated from cities in the United States which
have a major Hip Hop influence such as Chicago, Detroit,~New York and Los Angeles Early Hip
Hop fashion was mainly about flamboyance and presence. Brightly colored tracksuits and
bomber jackets were extremely popular in the 1970 s. www.thepeoplehistory.com Trends come
and go, and nowhere is that more evident than in the world of hip hop style. From its early days
of tracksuits, bucket hats, and dookie chains to the 90s heyday of gangsta leans, baggy jeans,
and Timberlands, it s evident that today s crystal mask clad, skirt wearing rappers are a far cry
from what was considered dope when Tupac and Biggie ruled the airwaves. Moving into the 1980
s, Urban Fashion became a lot more varied. Trends started to emerge, based on the style of rappers
at the time such as the trend of wearing clothes backwards (Kriss Kross), and polka dots (Kwame).
African nationalism or Afrocentrism was a key component of fashion at the time and many fans of
the culture and fashion sported hairstyles and clothing that reflected their national heritage. Popular

Hypnosis In Psychology Essay
Hypnosis in Psychology
Throughout the history of this country, hypnosis has been dismissed as a form of gimmickry.
Contrary to this, for centuries numerous cultures have used hypnosis as a means of mental and
spiritual healing. Hypnosis is defined as an induced trance like state in which one is highly
susceptible to suggestions, or commands. There are three commonly known methods of hypnosis.
Two of which, the authoritarian and standardized approaches, are generally considered non
beneficial towards the subject. Meanwhile the utilization approach, primarily developed by Dr.
Milton H. Erickson, is the most widely used amongst psychologists today. The authoritarian
approach focuses primarily on the power of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The utilization approach assumes that each person is unique in terms of strategies used to create
his/her trance and, consequently the hypnotist s effectiveness depends upon how well he/she is
able to adapt his/her basic strategies to those of a given subject. Thus standardized methods are not
used. The approach further assumes that unconscious processes can operate in an intelligent and
creative fashion and that people have stored in their unconscious all the resources necessary to
attain this quot;trance quot;.
The question thus becomes: How does the hypnotist bring the subject under trance? Instead of
standardized techniques, he/she has to use general principles to guide his/her efforts. There are
three defined parts of the utilization approach: 1) accept and utilize the clients reality, 2) pace and
lead the subject s behavior and 3) interpret quot;resistance quot; as lack of pacing.
The first principle accept and utilize was stressed again and again by Erickson and is the essential
theme of Erickson and Rossi sHypnotherapy
(1979). Briefly stated, accepting means assuming and communicating to the subject that quot;what
you re doing at this point in time is exactly what I d like you to be doing. It s fine; it s perfect.
quot; Utilizing means assuming and communicating the attitude that quot;what you re doing right
now is exactly that which will allow you to do X. quot; The process of accepting and utilizing is one

I Am Post A Review Today Of A Board Game
I thought I d post a review today of a board game that I bought for my kids this last Christmas.
Yes, I m aware that was 5 months ago, but it s honestly taken me this long to decide whether I love
or hate it. My family, including my 8yo and my 7yo, really enjoys playing Settlers of Catan, so
when I found out there was a version based on the building of the transcontinental railroad in the
United States, my little homeschooling heart just about burst. The game, Catan Histories: Trails to
Rails, is around the $50 mark, so I hesitated... a lot. I finally caved over the holidays because...
learning and Catan and awesomeness awaited us if I could just fork over the cash. SPECS:
The box says this game is for ages 12+, 3 4 players, and that the game takes about 2 hours. In
comparison, the original Settlers of Catan game says it s for players ages 10+, 3 4 players (but you
can buy expansions for more players), and that the game takes about an hour. REALITY:
We ve played the original game with my younger kids without issue. The concepts are not too
hard for them to understand, but I ve never met a Catan game that only lasted an hour. Ever. It
usually takes us 2 3 hours, even when it s all adults playing and no kids. Basically, I don t believe a
word on the box. Trails to Rails is actually more accurate on the box, but I still don t think a game
could be completed in 2 hours. The 12+ age range is probably a good suggestion, but you know
your own kids. It could be fun for a child

Having no reason to hope for the fruitfulness of any long term goals or aspirations, Octavio s
immediate environment has shunt him off into a fixation upon what is immediately attainable
pursuing his brother s wife and chasing the money and increased social standing that comes with
fighting his dog. It comes as no surprise to the viewer, then, that these constraints placed upon
him by the particular urban environment in which he lives lead to his downfall. After
succeeding wildly through a number of dogfights, Octavio has earned enough money to
convince Susana that they can run away together, but he gets greedy and agrees to only last,
high stakes fight against a dog owned by the local gang leader, who has been Octavio s constant
nemesis and antagonist. Octavio descends to his lowest point, though, when at the same meeting
where he agrees to this final fight, he contracts with the ringleader of the dogfights to assault his
brother, who, as a result, is nearly beaten to death. This choice backfires on Octavio, as Susana is
now compelled to flee with her husband, taking with her all the money Octavio and Cofi had won.
This shows that working class life in Mexico City often produces in people aims which will only
exacerbate their situation. Learning of the betrayal, Octavio is outraged and is forced to scramble
together his remaining money to fund the bet of the final fight. At the fight, Cofi once again takes
the upper hand

Good afternoon teachers and fellow students. Today I will be speaking about how J.C. Burke
represents transitions in The Story of Tom Brennan that challenges characters values and attitudes.
The story of Tom Brennan is about rugby, mates and family until a night of celebration changes his
life forever. Tom Brennan s world is turned upside down when his older brother Daniel is sent to
jail and the familyare forced to leave the small town that they have lived in their whole life, which
makes it hard for Tom as he has lived in the town with his close mates in rugby forever. I have

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bileaflet Valve
Assignment 1
Part 1: Medical Device related to Human Biofluid Mechanics
St. Jude Medical Bileaflet valve
Defects in the valves of a heart can lead to regurgitation, and stenosis. Common symptoms include
angina, shortness of breaths and heart failure. These defects affect the heart functionality. As a
result, artificial heart valves are used to replace these defective valves. One artificial heart valve is
the St. Jude Bileaflet valve.
Long term studies have indicated that the St. Jude Medical mechanical heart valves demonstrates
consistent hemodynamic (flow of blood through the heart valve) performance over time. The valves
were made from silicon alloyed pyrolytic carbon due to its superior biocompatible, thromboresistant
and wear resistant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen from the image where red blood cells and platelets are seen leaking back from the
aorta into the left ventricle. These cells are subjected to non physiological flows, leading to
activation or rupture, the first step towards initiation of the coagulation response when they flow
through the valve. Major disadvantages of mechanical heart valves include their thromboembolic
tendencies (thrombus formation), risks of blood cell damage (haemolysis), stenosis (tissue on the
valve pannus) and the life reliance of anticoagulants with the risk of haemorrhage.
Part 2: Shortcomings, and Improvements to the Device
The ideal artificial heart valve should possess qualities like good hemodynamic performance and
durability, freedom from thromboembolism, and ease of insertion.
Improvement: Thicker cuff
A thicker cuff with more intricate threads can allow a more secured grasp, positioning and
alignment of the prosthetic valve with the vessel walls as compared to a thinner cuff. The thicker
cuff will also be able to support a taller carbon orifice (mentioned later) as well as the high pressure

me, all in all we have the same classic zombie enemy is mostly in the Leon campaign with some
in the other campaigns, with the zombie dogs other then that, all the enemies you will fight
against is freaking weird, especially the boss fights, that ranges from a man that turns into a giant
beast dog and then finally into a giant T Rex, not to forget about the giant shark like thing in a
sewer like area, the only boss fight that feels fitting on this tittle is the one in the campaign of Jake

Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
In the poem Song of Myself by Walt Whitman persona is all about individualism and
transcendentalism. In the poem, he explains how much he loves the world, especially nature and
how everything fits together just as it should. Whitman thinks everything is good to him and
nothing is bad that doesn t contribute to some larger idea. He believes that people should learn
from experiences and not books. Whitman identifies everyone and everything, including death.
His soul takes him on a journey around the world and all over America. This can be seen when
the author says For me those that have been boys, and that love women, For me the man that is
proud and feels how it stings to be slighted, For me the sweet heart and the old maid, for me mothers

Fetching it to me with full hands; How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any
more than he (1331). Whitman is delivering the notion that we see in the world as a reflection of
our own dispositions, our own hopes. It can also be seen metaphorically that the grass grows
alike in the zones of rich and poor people, among black folks as among white, and we as human
beings ought to live the same way. We should take lessons from the democracy of the grass, and
treat all people equally. I interpret it in this sense because Whitman lived through the Civil war,
and seen a lot of violence. Dickinson s approach to death is crucial in some of her poems. Emily
Dickinson s philosophy on death was much more traditional, yet she too constantly questioned
the Calvinistic beliefs she had grown up with. Most of her poems cover religion although she
didn t write about religion without mentioning death. Dickinson s poetry can seem confusing or
strange to even the most careful reader. Being brought up in a secular community makes her
want to write about death. In her poem, My life had stood a loaded gun she means Anger can
carry us away whether we d like it to or not. While it can be strangely rewarding to get angry,
giving you a sort of high. Feelings of invincibility may suggest something deeper to cover her

For over one hundred years General Motors has been a vital function in the automobile industry,
beginning with the horseless Buick carriage in 1903. Heavy competition arose when Ford

Families On The Home Front During Wwii
Families on the Home Front during WWII by Ewa Bieciuk
HIST 2200 U.S. History Since 1877
Summer 2015
Prof. Hardin September 1st, 1939 is a day that changed the course of history. Lives were lost,
families ripped apart, towns destroyed, and jobs were created. World War II had just begun with
the majority of the main countries in our world participating in the war that would ultimately kill
millions of soldiers and civilians. Two years later, on December 8th, 1941 after the Japanese
surprisingly attacked Pearl Harbor, the United States entered the war fully. During this time, the
U.S. enlisted the help of the entire nation; soldiers, factory workers, nurses, and doctors were
required both overseas and on the home front. While many men were sent to fight over seas or
prepare at combat training on bases in the U.S., factories and other business were left with a
shortage of workers. World War II encouraged, or more accurately, forced, women and wives to
leave their homes to begin working. A familiar image that many Americans are familiar with is of
the women flexing announcing We Can Do It! , which is greatly recognized as a symbol of the
female presence in the workforce. Young adults dropped out of school to help out in numerous
ways. The amount of children working also increased greatly. Desperate measures to save money
and help in the wartime effort lead to many drastic changes in roles and lifestyles of American
families on the home front.

JetBlue chose a perfect time to implement its upgrade.

Imperialism In Avatar Analysis
Imperialism: the process of a strong country taking control of what they believe to be an inferior
territory or region. The similarities between the film, Avatar, and real life imperialism is very
apparent, and James Cameron, director, conveys the ideas of imperialism through this. In Avatar,
humans invade the planet, Pandora, to study the wildlife, and plants for scientific research.
However, this made no money for business moguls like Parker Selfridge. Thus, he came to

City of God Review
October 10, 2010 St. Augustine s work, The City of God, portrays the Roman virtue and describes it
s affect on the manners of the Romans. Though the people did not worship God, St. Augustine
points out that God still blessed them by increasing their dominion. In this text, Augustine finds
many aspects of the ethos Roman Empireboth admirable and problematic. He does this in a way
that gives the reader a better understanding on his views of how to live a life dedicated to God.
He also shows the problems of living for other men rather than living for the righteousness of God.
Augustine speaks of the manners of the ancient Romans, and shows in what sense it was due to the
virtue of the Romans themselves, and in how far to the counsel of... Show more content on

This shows the greatness with being pure in all ways and waiting for the good things in life and
not being greedy. I really think this is Augustine way to show respect towards the pure and
admire what they have done for God. In To What Profit the Romans Carried on Wars, and How
Much They Contributed to the Well Being of Those Whom They Conquered, Augustine wrote
that humans, because mortal and are only on earth for so long, shouldn t be concerned over
whose government a dying man lives, if they who govern do not force him to impiety and
iniquity? The Romans tried to impose laws and regulations on nations they took over but they
themselves did not live by these. If everyone was under the Roman Empire, than everyone in that
empire should have the same privileges and rights. It does no good, according to Augustine, to do
this. Take away outward show, and what are all men after all but men? But even though the
perversity of the age should permit that all the better men should be more highly honored than
others, neither thus should human honor be held at a great price, for it is smoke which has no

Advantages Of The Gilded Age
Ever look at all the railroads and big manufacturing companies and think where could something
so big be started? Well the gilded age is highly responsible for these manufactures and creation of
railroads. The Gilded Age took place 1869 1901 in the United States giving a whole new
perspective, in 1877 to 1893 the economy nearly doubled. The Gilded Age took place in between
Civil War and the World War 1 where the US economy grew drastically resulting in lots of
political corruption. The Progressive Movement went along with the Gilded Age becoming popular
among the well educated and environmental friendly peers. Not everything was perfect during this
time due to many factors including unfair workers rights preventing many from obtaining a higher
power then one deserves. Fair workers rights was not only extinct during this time but many except

Emily Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest
Written in the British colonies of North America during the Civil War era, Success is Counted
Sweetest features the speaker, presumably the author, Emily Dickinson, as they discuss
experiencing failures and successes. In order to truly comprehend success and defeat, Dickinson
uses encounters of the Union Army and Confederate Army who fought in the American Civil War.
Dickinson includes metaphors within the poem, with nectar representing something precious and
purple Host representing the Union Army of the North. With an ABCB rhyme scheme, the rhythm
is interrupted during the death of a soldier in order to emphasize the moment in which success is
most needed by an individual. The soldier fought vigorously for their belief and for that

Strict Driving Age
One of the most commonly discussed topics is teens and the way they drive. The question that
has been going around is should the driving age be raised or stay the same or should stricter laws
be created and enforced. One reason it may also seem as though many accidents are caused by
teens, they are caused by adults. The drivingage should remain at 16 years old, because it gives
teenagers a sense of responsibility and it would cause conflict with parents/guardian work and
activities.
Teenagers at the age of 16 should be able to drive with an addition of enforcing strict laws for
teenagers under 18. Holding them two more restrictions and keep them more responsibility as
suggested by Andrea Summers, coordinator of the teen driving program ... Show more content on

In conclusion, the age for driving should remain the same. It teaches responsibility if more

Alice In New Germany
Das Neue Kino cannot be characterized by a single ideology or style because the efforts of the
filmmakers of this movement were singular, yet the movement in its own respect expressed a wide
sense of dislocation induced by post war tendencies of German culture to repress its past. The New
German Cinema movement derives from the Young German Cinema movement, which attempted
to create a new cinema; however, resulted in a failed Germanyfilm that lacked a German audience.
It was the combined efforts of the Oberhausen group and the younger filmmakers of the Authors

In Italy, directors focused on the moral and economic conditions that came with the postwar
generation quickly after the war and addressed the war instead of not acknowledging as German
cinema did for so long. Unlike Alice in the Cities and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, films
such as Bicycle Thieves depicted dislocation during the postwar period in the Neorealist style,
made in 1948, this film differs greatly from the two former films discussed. In Bicycle Thieves,
Vittorio De Sica delivers a political message regarding the difficulty of survival in postwar Italy,
but also conveys a sense of psychological dislocation through the character development of
Antonio Ricci. In many ways, Italy s economy is much to blame for Ricci s two year
unemployment in which the film begins, however, Ricci has as many internal struggles as he
does externally. Neorealism lies heavily on the depiction of real life problems depicting
common people and often used people from the street as actors, in this film the man who played

authenticity. Towards the end of Bicycle Thieves, Ricci s efforts to retrieve his stolen bicycle fail

The fog hangs low. It s 7:00A.M., time for work. Exhausted, I climb into my car, careful not to

My question for Inquiry is:
How can I differentiate Mathematics in order to support and extend students?
By differentiating the numeracy program, all students needs will be targeted by exposing students
to outcomes and activities, which are achievable and challenging for students. The focus learning
area for each lesson and group of learners will be tailored to suit the individual learning needs of the
students as will the set tasks associated with the learning focus. Students will be supported by the
class teacher and the strategies put in place within each lesson. The purpose of differentiating is to

It was valuable to see an experienced and leading teacher at the school using a concise learning
intention for the students. They understood what the framework for their success would be defined

What impact has this project had on teaching and learning?
The main impact this lesson had on my project was seeing tasks set that catered for each student.
For example one expectation was for the students to choose their own question to answer from a
range of different questions that all varied in complexity and difficulty, and to answer them in four
different ways. I will attempt to use this style of challenging my students into future lessons.

Similarities Between Orangutans And The Great Apes
Within the world of primates, the family Hominidae includes the primates known as the great apes.
These primates, are then broken down into two subfamilies. One subfamily contains the primates
chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and humans, while the other subfamily, Ponginae, only contains the
species Pongo, commonly known as the orangutan. Orangutans, although closely related to the
other great apes, represent a lot of extremes in biological parameters (Campbell, C. J., 2011). One
of the most drastic extremes is that orangutans are the largest primary arboreal mammal in the
world. This is a result of special evolutionary adaptations that allow these primates to mechanically

This book included a large section of information on orangutans with observations about basic traits
as well as mechanical and social behaviors. It is interesting to note that the section also notes the
various methods these orangutans were being hunted, killed or used by its enemies. It concludes
describing an old misconception of how an orangutan s great strength and ferocity render them
dangerous. We now know that these animals are actually very rarely aggressive, but rather solitary
social creatures. The common theme of primates being dangerous and monsters can be across
various historical writings. Orangutans, endemic now only in the southeast rainforests of Asia,
were once found throughout Asia (Campbell, C. J., 2011). Since 2001, there have only been two
species of orangutan identified, the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abeli) and the Bornean Orangutan
(Pongo pygmaeus) (Nater, A., et al. 2017). However, recent research, to be published later this
month, has identified a new third species of orangutan, Pongo tapanuliensis. This species of
orangutans, found south of Lake Toba, was once grouped with the Sumatran Orangutans, however,
recent genetic testing has identified them as a completely different species from those orangutans
found north of Lake Toba. Orangutans all face major issues in terms of numbers with all species

In the last two decades the impact of TV advertisements on children s memory and behaviour is the
major topic of debates in many countries, (EU Journal 2011). Aggressive advertising of cruel
amusement to children and teens (Media Awareness Network, 2005); The impact of advertisement
on food and obesity within teens and youth (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2010,
Atlanta); Impact of Advertising on Children s Health and Irrational Behaviour (HRD Ministry

assess the paradigmatic shift and impact of advertising in consumer behaviour pattern and
behaviour in life of a child from aged 7 15 from the capital city of Delhi, India. Though advertising
is a vital tool to generate consumption and drive the economic growth in India but excess
exploitation of underage children through advertisements can bear serious repercussions. Although
there are always two sides of the coin in some ways advertisements always enhance children s

Analysis Of Herod The Great ( Antipas And Philip )
In due course, Herod the Great (Antipas and Philip) transforms the Jewish territory into a thriving
Roman Judea; from a rough, largely agricultural land, to one boasting with modern cities, roads,
aqueducts and harbors. Particularly, the city of Caesarea Philippi became an eventful center for
the Greek Roman culture; known for its prestigious status as the capital city of Herod Philip and
its substantial gentile population. Hence, these facts demonstrate how commonplace pagan beliefs
were among the society that lives there. Along with this dominating, progressive side of Roman
life, their sexual influence befalls the area with its pagan presence. Besides the Jewish people, and
other religious sects, society s perspective towards sex becomes that of the pagan Roman Empire s
practices; essentially, allowing lust to flourish everywhere in its culture. As a result, the goat gods
popularity became significant, to the point of pagan s attempt at monotheism, (belief in one god);
which, escalates during this time and allegedly Pan, meaning all, became a good candidate for the
position. Although, the goat god never acquires full authorization, off the record, he gradually
transforms into an unofficial religion; one could say Pan became the leading enduring god of the
religion of lust.

Similarities Between Han Feiizi And Confucianism
Confucius vs. Han Feizi Philosophy Paper
Confucius philosophy is a lot better than Han Feizi s. This is because it allows Chinese to live a
great life but still follow the law. Confucius was able to break down the problems that people were
facing and that helped a lot. The Chinese were ready for change after the Zhou Dynasty fell and
Confucius was able to come up with a solution that solved that major problem and it worked out
perfectly. Confucianism was not the only philosophy introduced at the time though, Han Feizi
established a philosophy too called Legalism. Confucianism is better than Legalism because it
allows Chinese to live a good life and still be happy people.
Confucianism is based off of five main concepts. The first concept is JEN: The virtue of virtues .
This concept states the goodness of the human spirit. The idea that mankind is bonded together
as brother and sister, the ideal relationship between human beings. There are people like us all
around the world that have some type of disorder and are not treated right and are made fun of. It

History of Biblical Angels
History of Biblical Angels Throughout history, you will find many religions discuss angels. But
what is an angel? Is it a mythical creature with wings sent to protect you? Some may think so;
others have different thoughts on the matter. But when did talk of angels first occur? Have they
always been around? In this paper, I will attempt to define what an angel is and what they do. I
will also discuss how angels differ between religions, as well as try to pinpoint the origin of
angels. I will explain the similarities and differences between these religions and their ideas of
angels. The term angel is derived from the Greek word angelos , meaning messenger. This word
represents an earlier Hebrew word, mal akh that is also interpreted as the role of messenger or
minister. It is safe to say that many people will regard angels as messengers between Heaven and
earth. In many biblical stories, angels are sending messages. Some messages are announcements of
birth like the ones that were sent to Abraham and to Samson s father. Other messages encourage
actions as the ones did to Elijah and David. In these cases, angels were bringing messages from the
divine world, or Heaven, to men and women in the earthly humanworld. It is believed that the
messages with angels also work in the reversed sense as well; meaning from human being to angel
to God. It is said that the soul speaks to the angel, the angel to the cherub, the cherub to God. This
type of communication would explain the

I Was A Skinny Tomboy Kid
According to the poem, I Was a Skinny Tomboy Kid by Alma Luz Villanueva, in order to truly
find freedom, one must believe in their own myth , transform their reality , and create a
legendary self . The persona believes that the only way to liberty is to portray masculinity and to
avoid being weak, like her mother was. As the poem shifts from the past to the present, she
realizes that there is much more to identity than pretending to be something she is not. Villanueva
s uses literary devices, the expression of freedom, and the transition of verb tenses to prove the
power of accepting one s identity. Throughout the poem, the author uses assonance and similes to
show how her self appreciation was eluding her grasp. The vowel sound i is heavily repeated, as

At first, the character says with my fists clenched into tight balls (3 4) to describe what she used

This suggests that she has finally figured out that a motherly or female figure still has great
strength. Instead of protecting herself by pretending to be masculine and tough, she understands
how much power a female figure holds. This portrays the internal growth she has made as time
progressed. At the beginning, she was angry at the world and was indignant at the fact that she
was a weak girl. With experience, she was able to embrace her true identity and view the hidden

Difference Between Daoism And Confucianism
Confucianism and Daoism Confucianism originated from Confucius and The Five Classics. The
Five Classics provided both the ideology and framework that informed government policy. They
includes the descriptions of deities, ghosts, and spirits, and the rites. Similarly, the primary source
of explanations, the Book of Rites, also explains how the rites serve the ultimate goal of
Confucianism, which is the creation of a harmonious society through careful self cultivation not
for the sake of the self, but for the sake of the society . The Classics make it clear that a peaceful
and harmonious society cannot be achieved without harmony in the family. The section on
Principles of Sacrifice in the Records of Rites explains that a ruler must have a wife to assist in
both state and familial duties. Furthermore, the king and queen were together responsible for
making offerings at the ancestral temple representing the imperial family. Interestingly, there is a
balance of yin and yang, which is reinforced by the first two trigrams in the Classic of Changes.

is capable of influencing lesser persons. In sum, I believe that Confucianism is much more practical
for the average practitioner due to its focus on family. In addition, two key aspects of Confucianism

characteristics. These characteristics are loyalty and empathetic understanding or

The Problem Of Homelessness And Its Effect On The Community
Homelessness does not only have effect on the communities through money, but also on their
general living. In a community people tend to struggle with security and trust issues, that is why
we lock our doors or have security systems, however that doesn t make us completely safe.
Studies show that there is a 77% chance that a resident will have rough sleep when they know a
homeless person is nearby. In big cities, homeless are often involved in street drinking and it can
be a problem. They could be loud or sometimes even violent while under the influence, there is a
53% chance that a person could be involved in this situation. Beggingis often a problem and is also
disturbing the peace. While walking or driving through a city there is a 325 chance that you can
be begged for money or food. Research found that while in the city there is a 32% that you will be
begged by a homeless individual. Last but surely not least is prostitution. Prostitution is a major
problem in the homeless community. It is a job that does not require a physical, drug test, or any
prior experience and could still possibly pay. A woman that has an issue with chronic homelessness
has a 10% chance of becoming involved with prostitution. All these problems take a toll on the
community around them, including the residents and the homeless people. There are many
solutions being proposed to solve homelessness, it starts with getting the entire community together
to provide the help, housing, and programs

8:22 The Castle
Lighting and all of the various camera angles combine with color and costume and music to
create an atmosphere that is compelling to the viewers and convey the history of a created man.
The scenes I selected on YouTube begin as he lies in Kim s bed in town and dissolve as he
remembers how life was in his early past. You see his inventor deciding to build a man, you see
him teaching Edward, you see his final gift to Edward before dying and leaving him alone, and you
see Edward with Kim. The time involved is 6.10 minutes. Throughout the film there is use of
lighting and mise en scene to build the audience reaction to what they see.
Tim Burton uses lighting, differing camera angles and music to contrast fantasy with reality and
show the strength of the characters. Burton uses lighting to show fantasy and reality in all of his
movies.
In the film high key lighting represents regular humans. The lighting in town such as in Kim s
room has vibrant colors and uses high key lighting. The color is used to show the contrast of
humanity and normality of the town, even though true emotion is faked by some. It is also used to
convey closeness between Edward and Kim.
The scenes I chose are mainly filmed using low key lighting and they were those of Edward and
his inventor. In the castle, where Edward lived, it was always

Examples Of Supreme Court Cases
Disclosures, Lies and Liabilities: A Case to Tell the Truth
Integrity is one thing that must remain unscathed throughout the career of a law enforcement
officer. It means being morally upright and having the quality of being honest (integrity, 2016).
Trustworthiness, virtue, righteousness, honor, and honesty describe what it is to be a law
enforcement officer. These are the attributes communities expect of the men and women who take
an oath to protect them. Three United States Supreme Court cases deal with lying and the
liability it presents for law enforcement agencies. These cases are Brady v. Maryland, 373 U.S. 83
(1963), Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 150 (1972), and United States v. Agurs, 427 U.S. 97
(1976). The decisions in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All three cases presented here deal with the disclosure of evidence by the prosecution. A court trial
is the pursuit of truth that results in a verdict of guilt or innocence depending on the evidence the
prosecution and defense present to the Court. When the prosecution fails to disclose evidence that
is exculpatory, then where is the whole truth? Revealing all evidence is necessary to see the whole
picture of what really happened. In Brady v. Maryland, the prosecution purposely omitted
evidence. In Giglio v. United States, the prosecution failed to disclose an arrangement where there
were concerns about the reliability of the witness. In United States v. Agurs, the prosecution again
failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. The Court held that all three cases resulted in the violation
of the Due Process Clause from the failure of such disclosures. Law enforcement officers are part
of the prosecutorial process. They submit the evidence they gather to the prosecuting attorneys for
presentation at a trial. If a law enforcement officer fails to submit all evidence, destroys evidence, or
lies about evidence, then he or she is lying about the case they investigate. Defense attorneys will
question the credibility and intent of the officer and prosecution if the intentionally exclude
evidence or lie about the evidence that gathered. If any court finds an officer untruthful in the
presentation of evidence, then their credibility and integrity is lost. Cases following

Memory is a rudimentary cognitive process, which plays a critical role in nearly all other important
cognitive functions, such as language, reasoning, perception and attention. In particularly,
autobiographical memory (AM) is one of the most important ways by which we develop a
coherent representation of self, an understanding of who we are, and our ability to make sense of
the past (James, 1890; Bluck and Habermas, 2001, Conway, 2005). The complex phenomenon is
dependent on the refined interaction of semantic memory (for factual, and conceptual knowledge,

Akhilleauss Pride Essay
Akhilleus s Pride
The Iliad is a classic story of a Greek warrior, named Akhilleus, whose anger causes many soldiers
to die during the Trojan War. When Akhilleus becomes angry, there seems to be nothing that can
stop him from totally destroying his enemy. While many consider anger to be the primary factor in
motivating Akhilleus, the main reason Akhilleus acts the way he does is because he is extremely
self centered.
Initially, Akhilleus lets his pride control him when King Agamemnon takes his prize possession,
Briseis, away from him. Akhilleus begins to sulk and declares he will take his army and go home.
Feeling dishonored, Akhilleus goes to his mother, Thetis, and requests her to go to Zeus and

All the troops may savior what their king has won for them, and he may know his madness, what
he lost when he dishonored me, peerless among Akhaians (1, pp 25). The actions Akhilleus takes to
get back at Agamemnon shows Akhilleus is only thinking of his own self interest. His actions not
only hurt Agamemnon but also put the lives of many of his fellow soldiers in danger.
Akhilleus continues to let his ego control his actions even after his best friend Patroklos urges him
to forget his hurt and rejoin the fight against the advancing Trojan forces. After Akhilleus refuses
this request, Patroklos offers to put on Akhilleus armor to reenergize the Akhaian forces and
hopefully trick the Trojans into believing that Akhilleus has reentered the fight. Akhilleus agrees to
let Patroklos wear his armor and pretend to be him. Akhilleus proves he really is only thinking of
himself when he tells Patroklos before he goes to fight on his behalf, you ll win great honor for
me, and glory among Danaans; then they ll send me back my lovely girl, with bright new gifts as
well (xvi, pg 380).
After Patroklos is killed by the Trojan leader, Hektor, Akhilleus transfers his attention from
Agamemnon to Hector and returns to the battle to avenge his friend s death. Akhilleus tracks down
Hektor and mortally wounds him. As Hektor lies dying he pleads to Akhilleus to not let the dogs

Essay On To Kill A Mockingbird Coming Of Age
In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout grows up in a small town where nothing normally
happens. When her dad is given a case to defend a black man, she gets thrown into a world where
racism has been the norm. She hasn t been exposed to something like this, so she is confused, but
she grows more mature in that time. She and Jem both come of age in different ways in the story
and get a taste of the real world. Scout and Jem both show maturation throughout the book. Their
father s decision to defend a black man opens them up to the harsh world of racism and
prejudice, meanwhile he shows them how to be compassionate to people and not to follow the
norm. The reason To Kill A Mockingbird is a great coming of age story is that it lifts Scout and
Jem out of the racist society norms and asks them to be more and model their father s behavior.
Even though racism is a big problem of our world today, it was a bigger problem when Jem and
Scout were children.

Elisabeth Hibbett ENG102 03 21 March 2017 The events leading to Michael Flynn s resignation

Ancestral Lines Chapter 3
Chapter three of Ancestral Lines begins with Barker being taught how to paint a Tapa (a
personally designed cloth) by two elder women, as the process is explained Barker compares the
Tapa cloth to society composed of basic elements that fit together to produce a whole. (Barker
2017:75) Barker also breaks down the three key facets of contemporary social organization: The
socialization of children into gendered adults, the formation of kin based groups and categories, and
the formation of alliance between groups through marriageexchanges and life crisis ceremonies.
(Barker 2017:75 76) Things to note about children in general and as socialized gendered adults:
when a child is born, they are not considered socially human and are believed to be vulnerable to
attacks from spirits because their souls are not yet attached to their bodies. Mothers are the main
source of care. Girls are often put to work first, assisting their mothers with cooking, cleaning, and
caring for infants. Boys contrastingly help their fathers with hunting, building, and protecting.
While inequality is prevalent, women are not without power and enjoy high levels of security and
influence. They also believe that men... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Disintegration That the US Government Policies Had on the American Indian Families The US
government adopted a number of policies towards the American Indians. These policies had some
bad impacts on them. Some of the policies were a form of war against their culture, traditions, and
way of life. Some of the policies were meant to alienate them. The policy of Assimilation, which is
to make the American Indians act and live the way the whites live, was there, immediately after the

On top of that, each missionary school was trying to do its best to maintain the funding it was

The US government adopted forced assimilation policy since the missionary schools were not able
to assimilate the Indians from their culture. The assimilation policy, that the US government
adopted, involved the establishment of boarding schools where the American Indian child would be
forcefully removed from his or her home and taken to the boarding school. In the boarding school
the child was not allowed to use his or her language and to practice his or her culture. One may ask
him/herself that why the policy was targeting young kids. Its known that, to change people one
should begin with their children. The other question one may ask him/herself could be why not
change children mind while they were staying with their parents. The parents would be there to
help their kids maintain their cultural practices and beliefs. Having this facts in mind the US
government adopted the policy of establishing boarding schools to assimilate the American Indian
children to the mainstream of American people .

boarding schools for long periods. A period that was sometimes estimated to several years created

Analysis Of In Bruges And The Crying Game
In Martin McDonagh s In Bruges and Neil Jordan s The Crying Game, the concept of guilt and
flight are explored. The purpose of this essay is to explore these concepts and the life choices each
of the main characters make that ultimately lead to moral dilemmas. This essay will also explore
supplementary themes such as conflict, redemption and forgiveness.
In Bruges follows two Irish hitmen, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken Daley (Brendan Gleeson). After a
completely botched job they performed in London, they are ordered by their boss, Harry Waters
(Ralph Fiennes) to hide out in Bruges and wait for further instructions. Although Ken is fascinated
by the city s architecture and history, Ray has nothing but disdain for it and wishes to return to
London. Could this be his punishment for a job gone awry? MC
Throughout the film In Bruges, we follow Ray and his emotional journey of guilt and conflict. He
chooses the career of a professional hitman and as a result, there should be no emotional
attachments associated in that decision. It s simply business. Or is it? His profession eventually
leads him to an unforeseen and unfortunate incident. But is it realistic for Ray to feel remorse?
After all, it was his choice to become a hitman to begin with.
While in London, Ray was ordered to kill a priest. For Ray, this never seemed to be an issue and
he never really questions the reason why. He assumes if he was ordered to kill a priest, he must
have done something depraved. As a result of carrying out his orders, he accidentally kills a
young boy. MC It is evident that Ray is overwhelmed by his actions and all of this plays out in the
film when he flees to Bruges.
As the story progresses, we discover that Ray is more than just a cold hearted hitman. He is a
man who is suffering. This is displayed throughout the film as he exhibits some strange and at
times, irrational behavior. He doesn t attempt to justify his actions, instead he plunges into a state
of depression and conflict. He s dead because of me. And I m trying to... been trying to get me
head around it, but I can t. I will have always have killed that little boy. That ain t ever going away.
Ever. Unless... maybe I go away. MC
Ray is left with a choice. He can continue to

Nobody Never Gets To Heaven And Nobody Gets No Land Analysis
The quote from the book, Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land (74), subtlety
explains an underlying detail to the grand theme regarding the American Dream in the story Of
Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The statement mentioned by Crooks, one of the characters that
had once sought for the dream, sums up the theme that humanity keeps chasing the same objective
of living a successful life, yet it remains unachievable. The plot of the story revolves around
George and Lennie, a pair of migrant farmers that work towards their personal dream of owning
personal land for by working on a ranch where they must attempt to cooperate with the multiple
personalities of the other workers to gain enough money to leave the ranch for their dream.
Throughout the story, multiple characters strive for the American Dream, seeking fulfillment in
their lives, but achievement of the dream proved to be insurmountable by the experience of Curley

Curley s wife relied on the possibility that her dream would come true, though the opportunity

as Crooks sought equality, he knew there was no real leniency for change because his position in
life would always be definite. Overall, an analytical reader of this story can reveal the darker,

  • 2. Egypt Vs. Egypt s Way Of Life Egypt is very different from India s way of life. I worked around the priests and nobles and you could tell right away that they were not very courteous to those under them. Each day I go down to get the queen s dates and wine, I would pass Ramses the Magnificent (Only he calls himself that) who is the queen s most dependable merchant because of his ability to get the necessary items for the palace in a day. Everywhere I went there were about ten guards posted, I even had my personal guard courtesy of her highness. If I could be queen I would let everyone be free of judgement and marry whomever they please and do whatever job they would please. My job as Cleopatra s lady in waiting became very interesting today. I had just come from helping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Burnout Is A Predominant Matter Within The World Burnout is a very predominant matter within the world, especially among pastors. There are many attributing factors to pastoral burnout, such as; working too many hours, inadequate time spent refilling spiritually, lacking friends and support systems (Chandler 2), and the need to please everyone (Olsen and Grosch 300). Research has shown that burnout is composed of three aspects: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment (Maslach and Jackson). In David Olsen and William Grosch s article they write; it is easier to attempt to deal with a situation early, than to attempt to put the pieces back together (300). It is possible to live a healthy pastoral life without suffering burnout and I intend to prevent this in my own personal life and ministry. One of the most important things I can do to prevent burnout is to continue to develop my prayer life. When pastors have a healthy prayer life and are confident in God hearing their prayers, it causes them to be both pastorally healthy and physically healthy (Francis, Robbins, and Wulff 322). On the contrary, those who do not have confidence in their prayer life are more susceptible to suffering pastoral burnout (Francis, Robbins, and Wulff 322). These statistics are unmistakable proof that I must place my relationship with God above ministry, relationships, and any other tasks required of me. In order to maintain consistency in my prayer life, I am committing to spend the first waking minutes of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Engineering Student Motivation Using The... Analysis of Engineering Student Motivation using the Expectancy Value Theory Eric Gauck December 5th, 2014 Colorado State University JTC 300 R27 eric.gauck@gmail.com Abstract The purpose of this research is to examine the initial preconceptions that engineering freshmen believe when they first arrive at Colorado State University. Specifically, it will examine the dichotomies between student perception and reality; hopefully revealing the perceptions and values which lead students to leave or persevere in engineering. The focus of analysis on student motivation utilizes the Expectancy ValueTheory. Three aspects of the Expectancy Value Theory, expectation, utility, and perseverance, are significant factors which contribute to the completion of challenges. These factors are integrated into a questionnaire designed to evaluate the expectations of freshman engineering students. The implementation of a numerically scaled questionnaire developed from components of the Expectancy Value Theory allows the abstract concept of motivation to be quantified. The analysis of 86 freshman engineering students found that students will need to develop a value in what they are learning or a drive for future goals to persist in completing their declared degrees. Further data collection is recommended to improve sample quality. Introduction This empirical report tests a sample population to better understand the motivations and expectations for freshman engineering students. The intent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Hip Hop Fashion Research Paper The majority of styles seen in Hip Hop today originated from cities in the United States which have a major Hip Hop influence such as Chicago, Detroit,~New York and Los Angeles Early Hip Hop fashion was mainly about flamboyance and presence. Brightly colored tracksuits and bomber jackets were extremely popular in the 1970 s. www.thepeoplehistory.com Trends come and go, and nowhere is that more evident than in the world of hip hop style. From its early days of tracksuits, bucket hats, and dookie chains to the 90s heyday of gangsta leans, baggy jeans, and Timberlands, it s evident that today s crystal mask clad, skirt wearing rappers are a far cry from what was considered dope when Tupac and Biggie ruled the airwaves. Moving into the 1980 s, Urban Fashion became a lot more varied. Trends started to emerge, based on the style of rappers at the time such as the trend of wearing clothes backwards (Kriss Kross), and polka dots (Kwame). African nationalism or Afrocentrism was a key component of fashion at the time and many fans of the culture and fashion sported hairstyles and clothing that reflected their national heritage. • 6. Hypnosis In Psychology Essay Hypnosis in Psychology Throughout the history of this country, hypnosis has been dismissed as a form of gimmickry. Contrary to this, for centuries numerous cultures have used hypnosis as a means of mental and spiritual healing. Hypnosis is defined as an induced trance like state in which one is highly susceptible to suggestions, or commands. There are three commonly known methods of hypnosis. Two of which, the authoritarian and standardized approaches, are generally considered non beneficial towards the subject. Meanwhile the utilization approach, primarily developed by Dr. Milton H. Erickson, is the most widely used amongst psychologists today. The authoritarian approach focuses primarily on the power of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The utilization approach assumes that each person is unique in terms of strategies used to create his/her trance and, consequently the hypnotist s effectiveness depends upon how well he/she is able to adapt his/her basic strategies to those of a given subject. Thus standardized methods are not used. The approach further assumes that unconscious processes can operate in an intelligent and creative fashion and that people have stored in their unconscious all the resources necessary to attain this quot;trance quot;. The question thus becomes: How does the hypnotist bring the subject under trance? Instead of standardized techniques, he/she has to use general principles to guide his/her efforts. There are three defined parts of the utilization approach: 1) accept and utilize the clients reality, 2) pace and lead the subject s behavior and 3) interpret quot;resistance quot; as lack of pacing. The first principle accept and utilize was stressed again and again by Erickson and is the essential theme of Erickson and Rossi sHypnotherapy (1979). Briefly stated, accepting means assuming and communicating to the subject that quot;what you re doing at this point in time is exactly what I d like you to be doing. It s fine; it s perfect. quot; Utilizing means assuming and communicating the attitude that quot;what you re doing right now is exactly that which will allow you to do X. quot; The process of accepting and utilizing is one ... • 7. I Am Post A Review Today Of A Board Game I thought I d post a review today of a board game that I bought for my kids this last Christmas. Yes, I m aware that was 5 months ago, but it s honestly taken me this long to decide whether I love or hate it. My family, including my 8yo and my 7yo, really enjoys playing Settlers of Catan, so when I found out there was a version based on the building of the transcontinental railroad in the United States, my little homeschooling heart just about burst. The game, Catan Histories: Trails to Rails, is around the $50 mark, so I hesitated... a lot. I finally caved over the holidays because... learning and Catan and awesomeness awaited us if I could just fork over the cash. SPECS: The box says this game is for ages 12+, 3 4 players, and that the game takes about 2 hours. In comparison, the original Settlers of Catan game says it s for players ages 10+, 3 4 players (but you can buy expansions for more players), and that the game takes about an hour. REALITY: We ve played the original game with my younger kids without issue. The concepts are not too hard for them to understand, but I ve never met a Catan game that only lasted an hour. Ever. It usually takes us 2 3 hours, even when it s all adults playing and no kids. Basically, I don t believe a word on the box. Trails to Rails is actually more accurate on the box, but I still don t think a game could be completed in 2 hours. The 12+ age range is probably a good suggestion, but you know your own kids. It could be fun for a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis of Amores Perros Essay Analysis of Amores Perros The Urban Environment of Mexico City, As Presented in Amores Perros Amores Perros represents the feature film directorial debut of Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu and was written by Guillermo Arriaga, the craftsman behind such acclained Hollywood successes as 21 Grams and Babel. It is perhaps no surprise then that this pairing, of inspired passion and experienced creativity, resulted in a film that won 52 of the 69 total awards for which it was nominated world wide, including the Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of Film and the Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Having no reason to hope for the fruitfulness of any long term goals or aspirations, Octavio s immediate environment has shunt him off into a fixation upon what is immediately attainable pursuing his brother s wife and chasing the money and increased social standing that comes with fighting his dog. It comes as no surprise to the viewer, then, that these constraints placed upon him by the particular urban environment in which he lives lead to his downfall. After succeeding wildly through a number of dogfights, Octavio has earned enough money to convince Susana that they can run away together, but he gets greedy and agrees to only last, high stakes fight against a dog owned by the local gang leader, who has been Octavio s constant nemesis and antagonist. Octavio descends to his lowest point, though, when at the same meeting where he agrees to this final fight, he contracts with the ringleader of the dogfights to assault his brother, who, as a result, is nearly beaten to death. This choice backfires on Octavio, as Susana is now compelled to flee with her husband, taking with her all the money Octavio and Cofi had won. This shows that working class life in Mexico City often produces in people aims which will only exacerbate their situation. Learning of the betrayal, Octavio is outraged and is forced to scramble together his remaining money to fund the bet of the final fight. At the fight, Cofi once again takes the upper hand ... Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bileaflet Valve Assignment 1 Part 1: Medical Device related to Human Biofluid Mechanics St. Jude Medical Bileaflet valve Defects in the valves of a heart can lead to regurgitation, and stenosis. Common symptoms include angina, shortness of breaths and heart failure. These defects affect the heart functionality. As a result, artificial heart valves are used to replace these defective valves. One artificial heart valve is the St. Jude Bileaflet valve. In the poem, he explains how much he loves the world, especially nature and how everything fits together just as it should. Whitman thinks everything is good to him and nothing is bad that doesn t contribute to some larger idea. He believes that people should learn from experiences and not books. Whitman identifies everyone and everything, including death. His soul takes him on a journey around the world and all over America. It can also be seen metaphorically that the grass grows alike in the zones of rich and poor people, among black folks as among white, and we as human beings ought to live the same way. We should take lessons from the democracy of the grass, and treat all people equally. I interpret it in this sense because Whitman lived through the Civil war, and seen a lot of violence. Dickinson s approach to death is crucial in some of her poems. Emily Dickinson s philosophy on death was much more traditional, yet she too constantly questioned the Calvinistic beliefs she had grown up with. Most of her poems cover religion although she didn t write about religion without mentioning death. Dickinson s poetry can seem confusing or strange to even the most careful reader. The similarities between the film, Avatar, and real life imperialism is very apparent, and James Cameron, director, conveys the ideas of imperialism through this. In Avatar, humans invade the planet, Pandora, to study the wildlife, and plants for scientific research. However, this made no money for business moguls like Parker Selfridge. • 32. Analysis Of Herod The Great ( Antipas And Philip ) In due course, Herod the Great (Antipas and Philip) transforms the Jewish territory into a thriving Roman Judea; from a rough, largely agricultural land, to one boasting with modern cities, roads, aqueducts and harbors. Particularly, the city of Caesarea Philippi became an eventful center for the Greek Roman culture; known for its prestigious status as the capital city of Herod Philip and its substantial gentile population. Hence, these facts demonstrate how commonplace pagan beliefs were among the society that lives there. Along with this dominating, progressive side of Roman life, their sexual influence befalls the area with its pagan presence. Besides the Jewish people, and other religious sects, society s perspective towards sex becomes that of the pagan Roman Empire s practices; essentially, allowing lust to flourish everywhere in its culture. As a result, the goat gods popularity became significant, to the point of pagan s attempt at monotheism, (belief in one god); which, escalates during this time and allegedly Pan, meaning all, became a good candidate for the position. Although, the goat god never acquires full authorization, off the record, he gradually transforms into an unofficial religion; one could say Pan became the leading enduring god of the religion of lust. The Chicago Convention proposed the formation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which later became a part of the UN in 1947. This negative attitude of the USSR was perhaps a sign of the cold war mistrust and isolation and that the secretive USSR was not ready to open its air space to international cooperation. The official reason given for the non participation though was that among the nations taking part in the conference, there were some countries like Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal which for a number of years have carried on a hostile policy towards the Soviet Union. 3.Outcomes of the Convention The atmosphere of the conference was one of uncertainty and some anxiety, which was felt by all delegations towards the attempts of the US to impose its ... This is because it allows Chinese to live a great life but still follow the law. Confucius was able to break down the problems that people were facing and that helped a lot. The Chinese were ready for change after the Zhou Dynasty fell and Confucius was able to come up with a solution that solved that major problem and it worked out perfectly. Confucianism was not the only philosophy introduced at the time though, Han Feizi established a philosophy too called Legalism. Confucianism is better than Legalism because it allows Chinese to live a good life and still be happy people. Confucianism is based off of five main concepts. The first concept is JEN: The virtue of virtues . This concept states the goodness of the human spirit. The idea that mankind is bonded together as brother and sister, the ideal relationship between human beings. There are people like us all around the world that have some type of disorder and are not treated right and are made fun of. • 36. History of Biblical Angels History of Biblical Angels Throughout history, you will find many religions discuss angels. But what is an angel? Is it a mythical creature with wings sent to protect you? Some may think so; others have different thoughts on the matter. But when did talk of angels first occur? Have they always been around? In this paper, I will attempt to define what an angel is and what they do. I will also discuss how angels differ between religions, as well as try to pinpoint the origin of angels. I will explain the similarities and differences between these religions and their ideas of angels. The term angel is derived from the Greek word angelos , meaning messenger. This word represents an earlier Hebrew word, mal akh that is also interpreted as the role of messenger or minister. It is safe to say that many people will regard angels as messengers between Heaven and earth. In many biblical stories, angels are sending messages. Some messages are announcements of birth like the ones that were sent to Abraham and to Samson s father. Other messages encourage actions as the ones did to Elijah and David. In these cases, angels were bringing messages from the divine world, or Heaven, to men and women in the earthly humanworld. It is believed that the messages with angels also work in the reversed sense as well; meaning from human being to angel to God. It is said that the soul speaks to the angel, the angel to the cherub, the cherub to God. This type of communication would explain the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Was A Skinny Tomboy Kid According to the poem, I Was a Skinny Tomboy Kid by Alma Luz Villanueva, in order to truly find freedom, one must believe in their own myth , transform their reality , and create a legendary self . The persona believes that the only way to liberty is to portray masculinity and to avoid being weak, like her mother was. As the poem shifts from the past to the present, she realizes that there is much more to identity than pretending to be something she is not. Villanueva s uses literary devices, the expression of freedom, and the transition of verb tenses to prove the power of accepting one s identity. When the author transitions into present tense, she writes, I coil up in a self/mothering fashion and tell myself it s o.k (84 87). This suggests that she has finally figured out that a motherly or female figure still has great strength. Instead of protecting herself by pretending to be masculine and tough, she understands how much power a female figure holds. This portrays the internal growth she has made as time progressed. At the beginning, she was angry at the world and was indignant at the fact that she was a weak girl. The Five Classics provided both the ideology and framework that informed government policy. They includes the descriptions of deities, ghosts, and spirits, and the rites. Similarly, the primary source of explanations, the Book of Rites, also explains how the rites serve the ultimate goal of Confucianism, which is the creation of a harmonious society through careful self cultivation not for the sake of the self, but for the sake of the society . The Classics make it clear that a peaceful and harmonious society cannot be achieved without harmony in the family. The section on Principles of Sacrifice in the Records of Rites explains that a ruler must have a wife to assist in both state and familial duties. Furthermore, the king and queen were together responsible for making offerings at the ancestral temple representing the imperial family. All three cases presented here deal with the disclosure of evidence by the prosecution. A court trial is the pursuit of truth that results in a verdict of guilt or innocence depending on the evidence the prosecution and defense present to the Court. When the prosecution fails to disclose evidence that is exculpatory, then where is the whole truth? Revealing all evidence is necessary to see the whole picture of what really happened. In Brady v. Maryland, the prosecution purposely omitted evidence. In Giglio v. United States, the prosecution failed to disclose an arrangement where there were concerns about the reliability of the witness. In United States v. Agurs, the prosecution again failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. The Court held that all three cases resulted in the violation of the Due Process Clause from the failure of such disclosures. Law enforcement officers are part of the prosecutorial process. They submit the evidence they gather to the prosecuting attorneys for presentation at a trial. If a law enforcement officer fails to submit all evidence, destroys evidence, or lies about evidence, then he or she is lying about the case they investigate. • 52. Power In The House Of The Scorpion Power corrupts other aspects of human life as well, as outlined in The House of the Scorpion. One could state that the power associated with the will of the people corrupted Aztlan in a way. The boys of the plankton factory had little power, and if they obeyed the Keepers demands, they would gain power for themselves. Therefore, the boys gave up freedom and opinions in order to please the Keepers, so that they could become more powerful. Once such example of this is Ton Ton. The story states, Ton Ton had shown himself eager to obey. He humbled himself whenever the Keepers asked (Farmer 301). Chacho describes Ton Ton as extremely eager to please the Keepers and as one who does exactly as they say, even if it means being very cruel to Matt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In On the Doctrine of the Feeling of Power, Nietzsche states, We benefit and show benevolence toward those who already depend on us in some way (that is, who are used to thinking of us as their causes); we want to increase their power because we thus increase our own (Nietzsche 1). Matt may have been kind to Fidelito and Chacho because subconsciously, he felt that both Fidelito and Chacho depended on him, and indeed Matt seemed to be the sort of alpha male in that friendship. In addition, Matt may have been kind to the boys in order to increase their power, or self confidence in this instance. If he made them feel better, then they would raise his morale. In addition, if he was able to make Chacho, Fidelito, and Ton Ton more powerful, he would be able to escape to San Luis, where he would be able to see his beloved Maria once more. • 54. Analysis Of In Bruges And The Crying Game In Martin McDonagh s In Bruges and Neil Jordan s The Crying Game, the concept of guilt and flight are explored. The purpose of this essay is to explore these concepts and the life choices each of the main characters make that ultimately lead to moral dilemmas. This essay will also explore supplementary themes such as conflict, redemption and forgiveness. In Bruges follows two Irish hitmen, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken Daley (Brendan Gleeson). After a completely botched job they performed in London, they are ordered by their boss, Harry Waters (Ralph Fiennes) to hide out in Bruges and wait for further instructions. Although Ken is fascinated by the city s architecture and history, Ray has nothing but disdain for it and wishes to return to London. Could this be his punishment for a job gone awry? MC Throughout the film In Bruges, we follow Ray and his emotional journey of guilt and conflict. He chooses the career of a professional hitman and as a result, there should be no emotional attachments associated in that decision. It s simply business. Or is it? His profession eventually leads him to an unforeseen and unfortunate incident. But is it realistic for Ray to feel remorse? After all, it was his choice to become a hitman to begin with. While in London, Ray was ordered to kill a priest. For Ray, this never seemed to be an issue and he never really questions the reason why. He assumes if he was ordered to kill a priest, he must have done something depraved. As a result of carrying out his orders, he accidentally kills a young boy. MC It is evident that Ray is overwhelmed by his actions and all of this plays out in the film when he flees to Bruges. As the story progresses, we discover that Ray is more than just a cold hearted hitman. He is a man who is suffering. This is displayed throughout the film as he exhibits some strange and at times, irrational behavior. He doesn t attempt to justify his actions, instead he plunges into a state of depression and conflict. He s dead because of me. And I m trying to... been trying to get me head around it, but I can t. I will have always have killed that little boy. That ain t ever going away. Ever. Unless... maybe I go away. MC Ray is left with a choice. He can continue to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nobody Never Gets To Heaven And Nobody Gets No Land Analysis The quote from the book, Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land (74), subtlety explains an underlying detail to the grand theme regarding the American Dream in the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. The statement mentioned by Crooks, one of the characters that had once sought for the dream, sums up the theme that humanity keeps chasing the same objective of living a successful life, yet it remains unachievable. The plot of the story revolves around George and Lennie, a pair of migrant farmers that work towards their personal dream of owning personal land for by working on a ranch where they must attempt to cooperate with the multiple personalities of the other workers to gain enough money to leave the ranch for their dream. Curley s wife relied on the possibility that her dream would come true, though the opportunity had clearly passed while also living a life without any genuine friends. Likewise, George always subconsciously felt that he could never own his own land with Lennie because there wasn t a sufficient margin for error to accommodate for Lennie s inevitable mistakes. Finally, as strongly as Crooks sought equality, he knew there was no real leniency for change because his position in life would always be definite. Overall, an analytical reader of this story can reveal the darker, depressing side to not only the book, but the American Dream as a whole.
