is a young boy that is very adventurous. The story is told through his perspective. As a young
boy he does not have responsibilities as a man yet and therefore his daily life is adventure and

Essay Paul of Tarsus
By: Stephanie Cairns SOR
The Second Most Important Man Towards Christianity
Question:
Analyse the contribution that Paul of Tarsus had on the development and expression of Christianity.
Paul of Tarsus or Saint Paul is considered by many Christians today to be the most important
disciple of Jesus, and beside this the second important found in the development of Christianity.
Saint Paul had a major impact on the spread of Christianity, contributing to the underlying unity of
the religious tradition by helping expand Jesus original teachings into a developed integrated belief
system.
The reason why Paul of Tarsus was one of the most significant persons in Christianity is because of
his contributions of the development of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity.
Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and
follow the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the
synagogue but did not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class
citizens in the synagogue. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity)
As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian
Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church
fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief,
(Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision
by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of
Nazareth and to call themselves Christians.
Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more
freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. (Christianity vs. Judaism
worksheet).
Paul s writings on social issues were just as influential on the life and beliefs of the Christian
culture, and are still considered part and parcel of the broader Christian doctrine by the more
conservative Christians.
Paul condemned sexual immorality; homosexuality in

The Most Influential Battles of the American Revolution Essay
During the Revolutionary War, there were many battles that were fought, but there were a few that
changed the result of the war. The battles of Trenton and Princeton were fought strategically. During
both of the battles, Washington made bold moves that later impacted the army s success. Another
battle that was fought was the Battle of Saratoga, and before this battle, the Continental Armydid
not have a strong chance of winning because they were facing the powerful and well equipped
British army. The Battle of Saratoga was the battle that completely changed the tide of the war. The
Battle of Yorktown was the last land battle fought of the Revolutionary War. It was also the battle
where the British surrendered to the Americans and won... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the march to Trenton, there was a storm, so the Hessians did not send out an early morning
patrol to look out for enemies. The storm also helped to hide Washington s army, so the Hessians
did not know they were coming.
Major General Nathanael Greene and Major General John Sullivan were two men serving under
General Washington. They were both marching with Washington on December 26, 1776.
Washington s plan of attack was to split his army into two groups in order to surround the Hessians.
He and Major General Nathanael Greene would enter from the north, while Major General John
Sullivan would enter Trenton from the south. Greene and Sullivan followed the plan, and the
Hessians were completely taken by surprise. Both Generals moved into a position to surround the
Hessians. Many soldiers started to abandon their artillery, so the Americans captured the abandoned
artillery and used it to their advantage.
Some of the Hessian and British soldiers tried to escape over Assunpink Bridge, but General
Sullivan led troops to the bridge and guarded it to prevent more escapes. The Hessians and British
were now trapped. The Hessians who tried to escape through the apple orchards and over
Assunpink Bridge were all forced to surrender. The Americans had won the battle of Trenton in less
than two hours.
More than 400 British and Hessian soldiers escaped, and 106 had

Benjamin Franklin And Helen Keller Research Paper
Compare/Contrast Essay Even though Helen Keller and Benjamin Franklin were very different,
they shared many traits, such as: curiosity, mischief, and a desire to learn. Helen Keller and
Benjamin Franklin were both very curious about the world. Helen Keller enjoyed feeling all the
plants in her garden. In her autobiography she said that she would creep along the stonewall of
her house into the garden and feel the different plants, like Honeysuckle and Jessamine. Helen
Keller would go there to calm down after a temper fit , as she referred to it. Helen Keller also liked
to climb trees. In her first tree climbing experience she was really scared because she was in a tree

Helen Keller locked her mother in the pantry for three hours! During this time she sat and
laughed on her front porch. When Mrs. Sullivan came, she to locked her away, but this time in
the bedroom. She hid the key to the room under the wardrobe in the hall. It stayed there for three
months until Helen produced it to her parents. Helen s father had to get a ladder to rescue her.
Helen was very naughty when she tipped her baby sister out of her cradle. Helen wanted to use
the cradle for her doll and was surprised to see her baby sister in it. She then grew very angry and
tipped her sister out of the cradle. The little baby would have been killed if Helens mom hadn t
caught her. Helen Keller also stole food from the kitchen. She once stole a cake that was freshly
frosted by the cook! Ben Franklin was also very troublesome. Ben stole giant rocks from builders
to make a wharf. The rocks were going to be used to build a house, and when the builders
discovered that the rocks were missing they were very mad and searched for the thieves. Benjamin
also wrote articles for his brother s paper anonymously. Benjamin wanted to publish something in
his brother s paper, but he knew it would never be accepted. He decided to write them
anonymously and slip them under the door of the printing shop. His brother liked it and published

Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Throughout the centuries, the gift of a blanket has been associated with feelings of warmth,
respect and kindness from those giving a blanket towards those receiving it. Our article below
covers just a few of the aspects that come to mind when we give a blanket as a gift or even when
we dream about blankets in a dream or see one in a vision of sorts.
Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Depending on the particular first nation identity, such as Dakota, or even down to specific tribes
within a first nation, the blanket may mean something different from one national identity to
another. Moreover, they may be given during different times for various reasons.
For instance, a respected Teton Sioux elder may choose to wrap a wool blanket around ... Show

In other words, the spirit of the father transfers to the younger who then passes it on to perhaps a
misunderstood child later on in life. Essentially, with the mere laying on of a blanket on their
shoulders or on their backs, an adoption process takes place; moreover, the family and tribe grows
with subsequent members who then become part of the community.
Blanket Giving In Other Cultures
Once again, depending on the culture in which blankets are given, blankets become talismans and
take on a spiritual dimension especially when worn in some dance ritual. Blankets can symbolize
transitions in life such as weddings, graduations or new additions to a family. They can also mean
legendary events, stories and the culture s heritage.
As such, they express a form of craftsmanship, artistry, history and the represented culture itself.
Blankets can even facilitate travel by transferring the spirits of those who gave them as companions
on a distance journey.
In some South African and Lesotho cultures, blankets mark rites of passage. In certain parts of
China, blankets are among the most cherished gifts that are commonly given. For the Australian
and New Zealand Aboriginals, they believe that the giving of blankets initiates a stream of good
dreams and

Comparison Between Indian Philosopher Bhart And Western...
Introduction: Here I want to show the comparison between Indian philosopher Bhartб№›hari and
Western philosopher Wittgenstein they deal with language and reality. According to them that
language and reality depend on individual, a person can conceive two types of relationships
internal and external. Actually what we think about it, language and reality are internally related is
to conceive language as necessary means of cognizing any reality. The world can be different than
what we perceive or describe and hence our language and reality are contingently related. One of
the greatest creations of Bhartrihar is about the relationship between wordand sentence. The word is
not arrived at by putting together the meaning of each word that constitutes it. Not does the
sentence as a whole have a meaning which can explain by the real meaning of words. On the other
hand, the meaning of sentence is invisible but may be explained by meaning of the real words that
constitute it. 20th century s most famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein famous for his two
treatises namely, Tractatus and Logico Philosopicus and other is Philosophical Investigations. His
Tractatus is best explained as a synthesis of the theory of truth functions and the idea of language is
a picture of reality. For Wittgenstein also, the meaningful unit is not a word but a sentence.
Bhartrihari and wettgenstain say that there is a public component in the meaning of a word; they
speak differently about the presence and the

Introduction As we advanced through week 4 of Principles of Accounting II, so far, we have
absorbed ourselves with a litany of accountancy material. Week 4 continued with variety of content
that contained: identifying kinds of shares issued by companies, computing shares, dividends, and
stock splits, and documenting treasury stock deals. Also discussed in text and throughout
discussion questions was the use of cash flows and types. We also covered both vertical and
horizontal analysis.

The majority of share divisions are mostly two for one split. This implies the stockholders get
two stocks and shares for the price of one share. In case the share cost $10, the stockholder will get

Analysis and Investors The money statements is used by both external and internal users including
investors, creditors, managers, and executives staff. There are several analysis that are used in
many ways of Horizontal Analysis and Vertical Analysis. Horizontal Vertical compares in specific
items over number of accounting period that many people uses to balance their information. There
are compared in different ways of in Absolute Dollars and by percentage ratios that helps with
calculations. Then the Vertical Analysis which compares each separate figure that shows in
Financial statements. The explanation of the analysis through income statements and using the
balance sheet The analyze information helps many businesses and owners to make good business
decisions so understanding the analysis will be great importance to how people compares the
analysis. If a firm issues and reacquires its own share from investors it is known as treasury stock.
To document the buying of treasury stock the organization uses the cost technique. The debit would

Compare And Contrast Watching Tv Vs Stadium
The review topic I will be doing is about the difference between watching a game live vs.
watching it on T.V. As any sports fan would say, there really is no better place to experience a big
game than at the stadium. Although, there really is no worse place to watch a big game than at the
stadium. Both good and bad, there really is nothing like being at the game. Fans believe they have
to watcha game on TV because they miss too much by actually being there. As crazy as that
sounds, they might be right. Without the cameras that zoom in things that would never have been
seen is a bis aspect to this. Money is starting to be a bigger affect to going to the game or not. Not
to mention the food prices at these games are insane. Also if you watch the game at home you can
change the channel during a commercial and watch another game. Plus whats better than watching
the game while laying on your favorite couch? Each option has ups and downs, they could each be
wanted or not by one person or the other. (Dan Levy)
Many people can agree with everything said in this. They love to go to a game at a stadium. Just
being in the environment and seeing it with their own eyes. On the other hand they would not want

Some sports are definitely better seen in person. Television does not do justice for hockey. Other
sports are better seen on TV. The person lying on his couch watching golf or cycling on TV has
an extremely better idea of what s going on with the overall event than the schlub following one
group of golfers or standing at some lonely stretch of road waiting for that exciting 15 seconds
when the cyclists pass them. Also being at an event is almost always a more satisfying experience
than sitting at home watching it on TV. Longer sports like golf and cycling are two sports that are
much better on TV. They are two of the most time consuming sports that have a larger playing

The liver is involved in many functions of the body which are important for survival. It is the
main filtering organ of the body and is involved in processes such a synthesis of plasma proteins,
storage of glycogen for energy use as well as excretion, secretion and detoxification of products
such as bilirubin, alcohol, cholesterol and drugs. Since the liver is the only organ to rid
hemoglobin from the body, one of the most important functions it carries out is bilirubin
metabolism. The heme component of hemoglobin is first converted to bilirubin by set of enzymes.
It is then bound to albumin and transported to the liver hepatocytes where the enzyme uridyl
diphosphate glucoronyl transferase converts bilirubin into water soluble conjugated form so it can
be excreted into the intestines. If the hepatocytes within the liver are damage due to invasion of
HCV, bilirubin will not be able to be excreted thus resulting in the buildup of bile. When bile builds
up, the skin turn to a yellowish color called jaundice. This usually happens during the later stages of
hepatitis (Sunheimer Graves, 2011).
There are two phases of hepatitis C; acute and chronic. After exposure of HCV, 85 90% of both
types of hepatitis are usually asymptomatic but symptoms can occur during the acute phase
following a 2 12 week incubation period. In cases of acute hepatitis, symptoms consist of fatigue,

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
Savannah Dye
Short Essay #3

Invasion of the Marriage Police
Invasion of the Body Snatchers is widely dubbed an anti Communist film by those who have seen
it. The plot of the movie is that unfamiliar, extraterrestrial body snatchers are taking over the
bodies of people in a small town in California while they sleep, and replacing them with clones
that lack emotion. For the most part, a general consensus has been reached that the mass hysteria
about the pod people in the film is reflective of the red scare consumed society of the 1950 s.
However, the article that I read that was written in response to this film suggests that it is instead a
cynical representation of post WWII, traditional American domesticity.
The article that I read that was pertaining to Don Siegel s 1956 adaptation of Invasion of the Body
Snatchers is called Lovelier the Second Time Around: Divorce, Desire, and Gothic Domesticity in
Invasion of the Body Snatchers , written by Jennifer L. Jenkins. Jenkins suggests that rather than
being a science fiction film that has an anti Communism message, Invasion of the Body Snatchers
is actually a Gothic narrative that presents domesticity and marriage in general as a crippling
institution. The 20 page article offers up many examples throughout the film that reinforce the idea
that the transformed pod people represent the traditional, domesticated individuals while those who
remain in their authentic state represent non conforming

Dendrite Vs Neuron
In our human brains, there are about one billion nerve cells, called neurons. They transport
information from one part of the brain to the other part of the brain. Which mean neurons are
passing signals to other neurons. Because of this system, we are able to have thoughts, memories
and moods. Neurons have numerous branches, called dendrite. There are branching like fibers
helps to receive information and pass it to other cells. Then on to the axon. Comparing to dendrite,
axon is a lot longer and it takes the information away from the cell body. Each neuronhas only one
axon but like dendrite, it has a lot of branches. At the end of the axon, there are small outgrowths,
called terminal buttons. They store neurotransmitters and release it during... Show more content on

The synaptic gap or the synaptic cleft is where the axon is sending chemical substances to dendrite.
Pre synaptic neuron is transmitting neurotransmitter and post synaptic neuron receives
neurotransmitter. Neurotransmitter can affect or mental abilities and there are different types of
them. Like; Acetylcholine (ACh), Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine, Gamma aminobutyric
acid (GABA), Glutamate. Acetylcholine helps work the muscles. And also, learning and memory.
When the brain not producing ACh the way they should be; this is how Alzheimer s disease
develop. Dopamine plays the role of moods, motivation, learning, and movement. Malfunctions of
this neurotransmitter is Parkinson s disease and schizophrenia. Parkinson s happens when the brain
is undersupplying of dopamine and schizophrenia is overproducing. Serotonin have an impact on
mood, appetite, regulate sleep, and arousal. When the brain is undersupply of serotonin, mental
disease like, depression are developed. This is why in antidepressant, it helps raise the levels of
serotonin. Norepinephine have the ability to regulate alertness and arousal. Similar to serotonin,
depression occur when there is a low amount levels of norepinephine. GABA is a very major
neurotransmitter, it controls and regulate sleep, relaxation and anxiety. Seizures, tremors, and
insomnia involves when the brain is low with GABA. Glutamate have similar ability to the

Protest Methods Of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a human rights activist who fought for the independence of
India from British Rule. His revolutionary protest methods inspired the likes of Martin Luther King
Jr. and others. However, many despised Gandhi s methods. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the
city of Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three
point blank shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because
he employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting
religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great
things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives.
To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the
injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt
exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi
set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on
the Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt
from seawater (paragraph 3). This action was literally illegal. Similarly in 1920, America banned
the production and distribution of alcohol. However, many individuals decided to make and
distribute alcohol or have it imported. They were called bootleggers. Gandhi s actions were

Negative Effects Of Technology On Sleep
One night you go to bed late and when you wake up the next morning you realize just how bad
you feel. You might want to think about what and how you used technology as you were trying
to get to sleep or staying up until all hours of the night harmed your sleep. One reason teens
might have problems getting enough sleep is that teens have habits that negatively affect their
sleep. Some examples of bad habits are the use of technology and not going to sleep at a
reasonable time. However, the use of technology isn t always bad. One positive effect of using
technology while trying to sleep can be seen when listening to low aroused music, for example. It
is when teens use technology for other things that they hurt themselves. While some bad habits of
teens can harm your sleep, some behaviors can make your sleep better. Teens are negatively
affected by their use of technology at night. When you use your electronic devices at night you are
risking your sleep. When teens use their electronics at night the stay up because of, the blue light
emitted by screens on cell phones, computers, tablets, and televisions restrain the production of
melatonin, the hormone that controls your sleep/wake cycle or circadian rhythm. Reducing

Global Position Sparks the Space Race
Ever since man has been observing their surroundings, there has been a desire to go to the far
reaches of our earth and out of our earth. Global Positioning Systems, or GPS, has allowed an
easier way for people to know where the user is on our earth and to know that we put something
into space.
The space race sparked the knowledge that we could put a human object into space. The Russians
were the first to do so in 1957 with their satellite, Sputnik. The Navy followed suit when they used
a navigation system in 1960, which was called the TRANSIT system that consisted of five
satellites, telling you your position once every hour. The Cold War sprung the military interest to
fund the multi billion dollar research of GPS to create a faster, more accurate global positioning
system. Since the two pieces of data that GPS satellites send are time and location, it was very
important for them to have a very accurate sense of time. In 1967, an atomic clock was entered
into space to help satellites track time accurately. In 1972, a receiver was created to use satellite
navigation systems. With this, all other global positioning system devices are based upon. A
year later, the US military got together and focused on a strong plan to create a very accurate and
robust global positioning system. The first GPS satellite type was identified as a Block I. It was
successfully launched in 1978 and was designed to last five years. In 1983 a Korean airliner flight

The Final Episode Of Breaking Bad Known As Face Off
The case study I have chosen is the final episode of season 4 of Breaking Bad Known as Face
Off. The name is in reference to what happens later in the episode. Through this essay I will
attempt to analyse the episode using theories that have been developed by Propp, Todorov and Levi
Strauss.
I will attempt a full break down of the show later, but for now I will do a quick summary of the
show just to bring everyone up to speed before hand. A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed
with inoperable cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine, with his former
student, in order to secure his family s financial future (IMBb, 2008:Online). The Genre for this
particular series is Crime Drama but it has aspects of a thriller series thrown in as well. This helps
with view ability of the series as it keeps viewers on edge. We mobilise our genre knowledge
routinely to order our media experiences, and in doing so we come to recognise a wide of genres.

Character roles
The first aspect that I will analyse is Character roles. This concept came about when Vladimir
Propp, a scholar and folklorist analysed hundreds of different Russian folklore stories and was able
to pin point certain traits that belongs to certain types of characters. There are 8 character roles in
Propp s theory and they have been given names, which might not reflect accurately in certain cases.

Analysis Of Chickamagua By Ambrose Bierce
In the short story Chickamagua written by Ambrose Bierce, the author follows a young six year
old boy with no name and a hearing and speech impediment s journey throughout the mist of an
ongoing dreadful war. Ambrose describes and narrates the story in an omniscient third person
view, which is important to note because he is partially influenced by his own experiences of
war; specially the Civil War. The central idea and theme being portrayed in this story is how the
destruction and chaos of war destroys this young adolescence s innocence by being introduced
to war first hand. To characterize and depict this, Ambrose uses literary elements such as
imagery and symbolism to further his points. He really wants to drive home how this boy s
romanticism for war can be turned upside down, especially when directly affected by war.
Ambrose puts the boy s disconnection with reality into perspective by initially describing him as
a child [who] strayed away from its rude home in a small field and entered a forest unobserved
and as someone who in bodies his ancestors thirst for discovery and conquest , alluding to the
fact that he is carelessly determined to explore (405). This irresponsible and carefree attitude sets
the tone for how the boy responds to war first hand. As the story progresses further, the boy ends
up falling asleep in the woods and later wakes up too an army marching forward towards battle.
The boy naively sees this as a game and joins in, only to experience the

What Does It Mean To Say That God Is All Evil
I strongly believe that these three statements are true. God is all powerful. God is all good. Evil
exists in the world. To many these three statements appear contradictory. How can God be all
powerful, all good, and still allow evil to be present in the lives of people?
Many would argue that God can be all powerful and allow evil to occur because he is not entirely
good. Others would say God is all good, but he is not powerful or involved enough to stop all evil
from happening. It almost seems as if logically God cannot be all powerful and all good and allow
the existence of evil.
Revelation 4:10 discusses people sitting before the throne of God worshipping God and laying
their crowns and treasures at his feet. In verse eleven they say for you created all things, and by
your will they were created and have their being. I draw my beliefs on the presence of evil from
this passage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would read that statement and cry heresy, and maybe it is. I believe in a God that created
everything. As the creator of all God is not bound by the same concepts and laws that people are.
He exists outside of time and possesses omniscience to know everything that has or will happen.
God is completely good. For a multitude of people, this idea is a major hang up. Why would a
God that is completely good command one of his followers to sacrifice his only son? That
sounds like a really bad God who doesn t love people. Why would a God that is supposedly all
good command his people to wipe out men, women, and children of other nations and then punish
them for showing mercy? Again, this is a lousy God. There are several biblical examples of God
that don t fit into our nice little box of what we want him to be. Yet, I still firmly believe that he is

By the time he was 14 he was already snorting cocaine. He lies all the time, steals money from his
mother s purse and take items from the house. He does all of this to feed his addiction to cocaine.
His family doesn t want to give up on him but they are divided about what to do to help him
overcome this addiction. His addiction has split the family down the middle some wanting to
continue enabling him and others wanting to let him go completely. The one thing they do agree
on is if Chad continues down this path of destruction his actions would result in his death. A
person s cocaine addiction creates disorder and chaos for the entire family. When a person
succumbs to the addiction of cocaine family responsibilities are pushed to the back burner. The
addiction then becomes priority over everything that was once important. Children are neglected,
abandoned, and in some cases mentally and physically abused (Nazario, 1997). Cocaine addition
causes a person who once enjoyed spending time with family to become isolated and withdrawn
because they would rather be doing drugs with other addicts. Drug use is very harmful because it
will eventually take over a person s life. When a person becomes desperate to use drugs he or she,
will do anything to get them. They will steal money or items to sell to get their hands on drugs

qualities that make them much more than that. They also make great friends. Two of the most
popular dog breeds are German Shepherds and Rottweilers. German Shepherds and Rottweilers both
have qualities that make them great for families.
German Shepherds are amongst the most popular dog breeds sold today. They are very popular in

sequential gearboxes Essay
Running Head: SEQUENTIAL GEARBOXES
Abstract
This paper will discuss the technology of sequential gearboxes. Relatively new technology, the
sequential gearbox has been applied mostly in ATV s, motorcycles, and the automobile racing
industry. Recently this technology has begun to reach passenger cars. There are three main points of
discussion; the workings of a manual transmission, how a sequential gearbox works and the
advantages of them, and the applications of it today. The sequential gearbox is extremely
revolutionary and is only used in high end passenger cars, but maybe one day it will be a luxury
the majority of the population will be able to experience.

How Sequential Gearboxes Work
In a regular manual transmission there are three forks controlled by three rods that are engaged
by the shift lever by the driver. The normal H pattern that the driver sees on top of the shifter
enables him or her to move the shift lever between the control rods for the three forks and thus
moving the rods back and forth. When all of these aspects are combined a successful shift is
accomplished.
Transmissions on ATV s or motorcyclesusing sequential gearboxes have a set of gear selection
forks that move collars, which engage the gears just like on regular manual transmissions. The
gearshift lever is moved up and down by the foot and the transmission is moved from gear to
gear. When the gearshift lever is moved by the foot, a ratcheting drum is rotated. This ratcheting
drum has grooves cut into the side of it. The grooves on the ratcheting drum will direct the
control rods when the drum is away from the transmission s gears. Moving the gear selector fork
is the most common use of the grooves. With this in mind, whenever the lever is moved up or
down, the drum is rotated one increment. The rotation of the drum allows for movement of the
rods or forks as set by the grooves in the drum and the gears are then changed (Brain, n.d.). The
gear shifting sequence can only be done in order; this means that no gears can be

A Cinderella Story Essay
A Cinderella Story
When examining adaptations of fairytales you must look at the original source. This can be a
very difficult task because with fairytales we never really know where the original came from. I

version of Ashputtle. In comparison we will examine two movies. First there is the Disney version
Cinderella. Secondly we will look at the movie Ever After .

Cinderella in this film is portrayed as a sweet and innocent child who years to be loved after her
father passes on leaving her in the care of a very evil stepmother. The character of the prince was
very different then in the first film. In the other film we find that the prince has feelings and
emotions, whereas in this film, he is portrayed as a very dedicated man who falls in love and
becomes obsessed. The odd thing about his character is that he is not seen very much in the film,
it focuses more on Cinderella, and her family and her attempts to go to the ball . Also it focuses on
the fact that the king is forcing his son to marry.
Viewpoint affects many different aspects of a story and film. When we look at the story we
read it from the viewpoint of ?Ashputtle?. This viewpoint in the story is Omniscient Narrator =
which is an objective, non participating all seeing mind . In the story version the author plays
the role of narrator, as he is the one telling the story. In the first film Ever After the point of view
is told from the first person point of view. First person = describes a character who participates in

the film, because when the characters that portray the Grimm Brothers come to the palace and then

Causes Of Water Scarcity
The Global Water Institute stated that approximately 700 million people in 43 countries are
currently suffering from water stress and scarcity in 2013 , by 2025 2.8 billion people will face
water stress and scarcity (Hameeteman, 2013, p.3). The global water supply is approximately
2.5% freshwater and 97.5% is saltwater (Hameeteman, 2013, p.4). Hence, it is crucial that the
Earth s population tries to manage the water stress and scarcity. There are many causes of water
stress and scarcity, for instance: overuse of water due to economic reasons, pollution of water,
drought, governmental access and policies, and many more. In Africa, many children and women
are responsible in collecting water, thus, traveling large distances to collect clean or unclean water.
In addition, sanitationfacilities are inadequate causing half the population to suffer from
waterborne diseases (Hameeteman, 2013, p.6). As a result, unclean water and poor sanitation are
a leading cause of illness and death in this region. There are a few approaches to providing clean
water to the African population, for example: piped water, stand posts and wells. Moreover, poor
sanitation can be alleviated with pit latrines, urine diversion dry toilets and pour flush toilets
(Septien, 2015). However, such methods can be expensive. Hence, it is important to understand the
household s income and the economic situation of the country. Contrary, different strategies are

The Concept Of Self Care
Concept analysis is a combination of seven steps that work together to clarify concepts in our
nursing practice (McEwen Wills, 2014). The term self care is a concept from Orem s self care
deficit theory. The purpose of this concept analysis is to clarify the concept and determine how
it is used in the nursing practice, particularly with rehabilitation patients. We will further explore
this concept with literature reviews, the possible uses of this concept, its attributes, model and
alternative cases, antecedents and consequences, and finally empirical referents. Aim of
Analysis The aim of this concept analysis is to clearly define the concept of self care in relation
to rehabilitation patients. The characteristics of self care will be further explored and explained,
as well as its importance to nursing practice. By understanding the concept better, nurses will be
able to be more involved in the patient s care and increase the rate of their recovery (Arman
Hok, 2015). Literature Review According to Hashemi et al. (2013), promoting self care with
patients gives them more control over their lives leading to an improved quality of life. The article
emphasized the importance of empowering patients to perform activities independently. Orem s
self care model was used as a clinical guideline for the self care programs they developed for the
patients. There were three different care models they focused on depending on the patient s needs
and conditions. If the patient

In the renaissance period of history, there was a feud that came about that dominated Europe.
Cousins, Queen Mary Stuart of Scotland and Queen Elizabeth I of England, formed an unpleasant

Queen Elizabeth I had a profound effect on the politics of their time. Queen Elizabeth I was much
more regal than her cousin, MaryStuart of Scotland, and ruled her kingdom with poise and

Queen Elizabeth spent great amounts to build up the weak and unprepared English navy so the
soldiers could fight (Smith). Family members heavily influenced the decisions and actions in
which either queen took as it was important to account for their family s opinion, and they used
family members to get at each other. The queens themselves were cousins as Henry VIII was
their uncle, so Mary Stuart had Tudor blood in her (Sharnette 1). After Mary came back to
Scotland, there were many conspiracies surrounding her as well as Elizabeth. Mary was
convicted for being involved in the murder of her first husband, Lord Darnley ( Was Elizabeth I
Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland Executed? ). When Elizabeth heard
of the plan for Howard to marry the Queen of Scots she was suspicious, and summoned Howard to
appear at court. Guilty and fearing the queen s anger, Howard repeatedly claimed illness as the
reason for staying away from court (Benson). Queen Elizabeth had many valid reasons for her
decision to order the execution of her cousin Mary. Many English Catholics held Mary to be the
legitimate heir to the throne of England ( Was Elizabeth I Justified in Having Her Cousin Mary

was imprisoned before escaping to England, where she thought her cousin Elizabeth would help her

Flowers In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The significance of flowers in Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold
By: Sargun Bhatia
Total words: 1445
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s 1981 novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, is an investigation into the
murder of Santiago Nasar through the lens of a Columbian community. It acts as a broader
commentary on the obligations to virtue, duty and honour at the expense of meaningful
relationships and rational decision making. This essay will explore how Marquez uses flowers to
represent the high standards expected of them that simultaneously result in justification for their
objectification. Flowers are also used to mask and disguise the hollow and often onerous
expectations to uphold flawed beliefs on virtue, religion and duty. ... Show more content on

This dehumanisation while firstly seems justifiable to lessen the emotional burden, is alarming
when considering that women are also given the names of flowers and treated as much. The
euphoric imagery and naming associated with these women while seem flattering, in fact
objectify them. Such is symptomatic of the role they play within society, where their aesthetics
and frailty are commodities that are circumvented by wayward behaviour. The very positioning
in the Vicario household of the flowerpots next to the pigsty, with its sacrificial stone and
disembowelling table , encourages comparison between the aesthetic, resplendent women and
the pigs. The alliteration draws attention to the role of the women and pigs as sacrifices to
honour duty and appetite (not limited to the pigs), which pre empt the grotesque imagery and
reality enforced by the disembowelling table where the victims are literally torn apart yet are a
good source of domestic income . In this way, Marquez uses flowers to compare defenceless pigs
ready for the slaughter to women ready to be married. Pigs and women are used as currency to
service society, where flowers symbolise the expectations of women to be virtuous and delicate

Socratic Ching For Real True Knowledge

The Socratic Method is the oldest named term for an engagement in intellectual dialect amongst
two or more parties, this is properly the foremost and truest method of insightful interaction
because at its foundation as a style of engagement it is defined to be a discussion in which people
who have the capacity to think; as defined by Socrates as being to rationally perceive and sort
through sensations and perceptions, through reason, and endless questioning of that of which is

Often what people articulate and what they have in their heads rarely perfectly coincides, so by
asking questions and allowing them to further elaborate on what they are conveying is a great
way to figure out what thought they want you to understand. Another one of my favorite
Socratic moments is set in the Apology, where Socrates is before the entire court and so clearly
explains his thinking, to everyone except those prosecuting him. The oracle at Delphi, a highly
regarded, highly sought after being who was believed to be a prophet of the gods declared
Socrates to be the wisest of all men. Socrates concludes this must be because he knows nothing,
meaning he is not certain of everything of which he is told and questions all things relentlessly.
This display of intellectual humility particularly stands out in the Socrates philosophic mission, as
he is not arrogant nor does he always have to be right. In his pursuit of truth he realizes often ones
ego gets in the way of true knowledge, for when you are always right you hardly learn anything
new, it is by error and questioning that comes the clarification that is knowledge. Socrates never

Absolute Film Is Fine Art
Absolute Film Is Fine Art Although literature existing on the subject of abstract cinema s origins
is not lacking, seldom does it appear in a purely art historical context. In mentioning visual
artists, particularly focusing on Hans Richter and Viking Eggeling s collaborations, scholarship
rarely questions the aesthetic motives or innate desire for each of these artists to transcend
pencil and paper, oil and canvas primarily; so what are these films connections to previous
endeavors for these pioneers of abstract film? What drove these established artists to strive for a
universal language and rhythm in the medium of moving image that couldn t be achieved on
canvas or paper? These particular questions will be focused specifically on and answered through
an understanding of the advent of absolute cinema, between 1918 and 1925, before Richter would
move beyond and arguably surpass a non objective approach to film. Absolute cinema
aesthetically conjoins film to the immobile fine arts, bridging the gap and acting as the logical
baby step between painting on canvas and working with celluloid. Not only does absolute cinema
provide such a bridge but it also allows the expression of abstract and geometrical forms to exceed
staticity. What could only exist as an impression of temporality through painting, drawing, and
sculpture, such as within a Boccioni States of Mind paintings or Duchamp s Nude Descending The
Staircase No.2, would now create a more mimetic kinetic movement,

On Epistemology and Skepticism Essay
Epistemology is purposed with discovering and studying what knowledge is and how we can
classify what we know, how we know it, and provide some type of framework for how we arrived
at this conclusion. In the journey to identify what knowledge is the certainty principle was one of
the first concepts that I learned that explained how we, as humans, consider ourselves to know
something. The certainty concept suggests that knowledge requires evidence that is sufficient to
rule out the possibility of error. This concept is exemplified in cases like The Gettier problem in
the instance that we suppose (S) someone to know (P) a particular proposition. As Gettier
established the Justified True Belief as a conceptual formula for knowledge, certainty... Show more

Skepticism in general says that we do not know many propositions about the external world that
we naturally take ourselves to know. Descartes affirms skepticism by analyzing beliefs as
knowledge. Meditations seeks to find a solution to the notion of if one doubts a belief, can it be
considered knowledge?
Descartes first submits that it is not necessary to show all beliefs are false to satisfy the
knowledge condition. He adds that if in each belief there is doubt that we can conclude that all
things that we believe can be considered false knowledge. He seeks to prove this by setting a
precondition that we cannot critique all beliefs, just the ones that govern our life or that serve
as a broad component of belief. Descartes then provides context to where beliefs come from and
states that beliefs are created from senses or through senses. He then states that senses are false
because they are deceptive and shouldn t be trusted which is the first cause of being able to
doubt a belief. This idea in my opinion is the argument of Reality vs. Virtually, which is what we
encounter through our experiences vs. what we dream about. The question posed is that we doubt
our beliefs because we do not know if what we perceive from our senses is true. The example
provided in the Meditations text dealt with imagination and the Dream world concept. If I perceive
something in the

nature of his experience in the war, he needed to describe the essence of what it was truly like. I

The psychological effects, the mentality of fighting and killing another human, and the sheer
decimation of human values is what makes war atrocious. War is not only fought on the
battlefield though. This book also describes the feelings of a soldier fighting his own demons
that war has brought on. The battle that the soldier has with himself, is almost if not more
damaging than the physical battle of war. He will never forget his experience with battle, no
matter how hard he tries the memories of artillery, blood, and death cannot be erased. I prayed
like you to survive, but look at me now. It is over for us who are dead, but you must struggle,
and will carry the memories all your life. People back home will wonder why you can t forget.
(Sledge). This struggle still happens to soldiers today. Sledge s words of the struggles still
captures the effects of warfare that lingers today. The other effects that war has on the men is the
instability that surrounds them at every hour of the day. They are either engaged in battle having
bullets and artillery fired at them, or waiting for battle just so they can be deposited back in the
pressure cooker of survival. Lying in a foxhole sweating out an enemy artillery or mortar barrage
or waiting to dash across open ground under machine gun or artillery fire defied any concept of

Laboratory Techniques and Measurements Lab 1
The purpose of this lab was for the student to get involved with his or hers new lab kit as well as
being able to know, identify and use each other tools provided in the kit. Another key learning
aspect of this lab is to teach the student how to measure properly the many units in the SI system. I
will be using laboratory dilutions, measurements, and weights to then calculate using algebraic
formula.
Throughout lab one we were introduced to many different forms of measurement, whether its using
a ruler too measure length, a digital scale to measure weight, and also many different sized and
shaped flasks to measure different volumes. Another key measurement of this lab was to teach the

This lab is all about measurements and recording them properly. The lab first introduces to use the
measurement of centimeters, millimeters, and meters to measure different household objects in
our everyday life. We were given the task to use the provided ruler and measure a CD, key, spoon,
and a fork in centimeters and then convert our findings to give us the appropriate units of
millimeters and meters for each object required in the exercise.
Data Table 1: Length measurements.| Object| Length (cm)| Length (mm)| Length (m)| CD or DVD|
12cm| 120mm| . .12m| Key| 5.5cm| 55mm| 0.055m| Spoon| 15cm | 150mm| .15m| Fork| 18cm|
180mm| .18m|
Lab 1 also teaches us the importance of molecular weight of a substance and how to use that to
find the amount of moles of that substance in a solution. For example; in exercise 3 we were
asked to weigh 8 grams of sugar and then calculate how many moles of sugar it really was. Using
the molecular weight of sugar (C = 12.01 grams/mol, H = 1.008 grams/mole, O = 15.00 grams
/mole). We were then able to use this molecular mass of the sugar that we then had to use to
calculate and determine the molarity of the sugar

Pros And Cons Of Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility
The Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility received its first detainees in 2002.. Guantanamo has been
a topic of debate since the first 20 detainees arrived; should the facility close or remain open?
Guantanamo detention facility should remain open because it does not entice terrorist to strike, the
prison is not used enough, detainees who were sent back to their home countries have returned to
terrorism, and the prisoners were not treated poorly at the facility. Critics of Guantanamo say it
serves as a potent propaganda tool for the Islamic State, which makes the prisoners it captures wear
orange jumpsuits, nearly identical to those worn by Guantanamo inmates. What they fail to realize
is that several other detention facilities, prisons, and jails in the United Stateshave... Show more

Of those sent to other countries, 214 are known or suspected to have returned to terrorist or
insurgent activities. Critics of Congress, however, worry that some of the transferees have returned
to the fight and killed Americans. News outlets reported in June that at least 12 transferred
detainees had been involved in attacks against allied forces in Afghanistan that resulted in the
deaths of about six Americans. According to American officials who spoke to a Washington Post
reporter on condition of anonymity, a former Guantanamo detainee who was transferred to Libya in
2007 only to be released the following year was likely involved in the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the
American embassy compound in Benghazi that killed U.S. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and
three other Americans. The administration is releasing dangerous terrorist to countries that can t
control them said Royce, the House Foreign Affairs chairmen. Royce suggests that many countries
are not qualified to detain or keep tabs on ex Guantanamo

The Juggler Richard Wilbur Analysis
In the poem Juggler , by Richard Wilbur, the speaker describes the juggler as someone able to lift
the spirits of his audience through his spectacular performance. Through the use of literary
elements such as imagery, tone, and figurative language, the speaker creates the image of the
juggler as a gravity defying being, who not only lifts objects but also the heart of those that watch,
and how the speakerhimself is among those entertained.
Imagery is first used by the speaker to describe the soft, weightlessness of the ball in motion, as
seen by the audience. Because of the juggler s expertise, he is able to control the balls as if the laws
of physics did not apply to it. The balls roll around, wheel on his wheeling hands, Learning the ways

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki /Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity) As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves Christians. Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. Introduction: Here I want to show the comparison between Indian philosopher Bhartб№›hari and Western philosopher Wittgenstein they deal with language and reality. According to them that language and reality depend on individual, a person can conceive two types of relationships internal and external. Actually what we think about it, language and reality are internally related is to conceive language as necessary means of cognizing any reality. The world can be different than what we perceive or describe and hence our language and reality are contingently related. One of the greatest creations of Bhartrihar is about the relationship between wordand sentence. The word is not arrived at by putting together the meaning of each word that constitutes it. Not does the sentence as a whole have a meaning which can explain by the real meaning of words. On the other hand, the meaning of sentence is invisible but may be explained by meaning of the real words that constitute it. 20th century s most famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein famous for his two treatises namely, Tractatus and Logico Philosopicus and other is Philosophical Investigations. His Tractatus is best explained as a synthesis of the theory of truth functions and the idea of language is a picture of reality. For Wittgenstein also, the meaningful unit is not a word but a sentence. It is the main filtering organ of the body and is involved in processes such a synthesis of plasma proteins, storage of glycogen for energy use as well as excretion, secretion and detoxification of products such as bilirubin, alcohol, cholesterol and drugs. Since the liver is the only organ to rid hemoglobin from the body, one of the most important functions it carries out is bilirubin metabolism. The heme component of hemoglobin is first converted to bilirubin by set of enzymes. It is then bound to albumin and transported to the liver hepatocytes where the enzyme uridyl diphosphate glucoronyl transferase converts bilirubin into water soluble conjugated form so it can be excreted into the intestines. If the hepatocytes within the liver are damage due to invasion of HCV, bilirubin will not be able to be excreted thus resulting in the buildup of bile. One night, Gandhi, after shaming the city of Delhi, was heading to a prayer meeting and it was there that Nathuram Godse fired three point blank shots at Gandhi, killing him on the spot. Gandhi s assassination was justified because he employed controversial protest methods, he defied British Rule, and he combined conflicting religions which caused confusion in his community. Many may say that Gandhi did many great things, but those positives are outweighed by the negatives. To begin with, Gandhi continuously employed controversial and illegal methods to protest the injustices that his people faced. For example, Gandhi led a satyagraha due to the prohibition of salt exportation to India from countries other than Britain. According to This Day in History, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241 mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea. Global Positioning Systems, or GPS, has allowed an easier way for people to know where the user is on our earth and to know that we put something into space. The space race sparked the knowledge that we could put a human object into space. The Russians were the first to do so in 1957 with their satellite, Sputnik. The Navy followed suit when they used a navigation system in 1960, which was called the TRANSIT system that consisted of five satellites, telling you your position once every hour. The Cold War sprung the military interest to fund the multi billion dollar research of GPS to create a faster, more accurate global positioning system. Since the two pieces of data that GPS satellites send are time and location, it was very important for them to have a very accurate sense of time. In 1967, an atomic clock was entered into space to help satellites track time accurately. In 1972, a receiver was created to use satellite navigation systems. With this, all other global positioning system devices are based upon. A year later, the US military got together and focused on a strong plan to create a very accurate and robust global positioning system. The first GPS satellite type was identified as a Block I. Analysis Of Chickamagua By Ambrose Bierce In the short story Chickamagua written by Ambrose Bierce, the author follows a young six year old boy with no name and a hearing and speech impediment s journey throughout the mist of an ongoing dreadful war. Ambrose describes and narrates the story in an omniscient third person view, which is important to note because he is partially influenced by his own experiences of war; specially the Civil War. The central idea and theme being portrayed in this story is how the destruction and chaos of war destroys this young adolescence s innocence by being introduced to war first hand. To characterize and depict this, Ambrose uses literary elements such as imagery and symbolism to further his points. He really wants to drive home how this boy s romanticism for war can be turned upside down, especially when directly affected by war. Ambrose puts the boy s disconnection with reality into perspective by initially describing him as a child [who] strayed away from its rude home in a small field and entered a forest unobserved and as someone who in bodies his ancestors thirst for discovery and conquest , alluding to the fact that he is carelessly determined to explore (405). This irresponsible and carefree attitude sets the tone for how the boy responds to war first hand. Many would argue that God can be all powerful and allow evil to occur because he is not entirely good. Others would say God is all good, but he is not powerful or involved enough to stop all evil from happening. It almost seems as if logically God cannot be all powerful and all good and allow the existence of evil. Revelation 4:10 discusses people sitting before the throne of God worshipping God and laying their crowns and treasures at his feet. That sounds like a really bad God who doesn t love people. Why would a God that is supposedly all good command his people to wipe out men, women, and children of other nations and then punish them for showing mercy? Again, this is a lousy God. When a person succumbs to the addiction of cocaine family responsibilities are pushed to the back burner. The addiction then becomes priority over everything that was once important. Children are neglected, abandoned, and in some cases mentally and physically abused (Nazario, 1997). Cocaine addition causes a person who once enjoyed spending time with family to become isolated and withdrawn because they would rather be doing drugs with other addicts. Relatively new technology, the sequential gearbox has been applied mostly in ATV s, motorcycles, and the automobile racing industry. Recently this technology has begun to reach passenger cars. There are three main points of discussion; the workings of a manual transmission, how a sequential gearbox works and the advantages of them, and the applications of it today. The sequential gearbox is extremely revolutionary and is only used in high end passenger cars, but maybe one day it will be a luxury the majority of the population will be able to experience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How Sequential Gearboxes Work In a regular manual transmission there are three forks controlled by three rods that are engaged by the shift lever by the driver. The normal H pattern that the driver sees on top of the shifter enables him or her to move the shift lever between the control rods for the three forks and thus moving the rods back and forth. When all of these aspects are combined a successful shift is accomplished. Transmissions on ATV s or motorcyclesusing sequential gearboxes have a set of gear selection forks that move collars, which engage the gears just like on regular manual transmissions. The gearshift lever is moved up and down by the foot and the transmission is moved from gear to gear. When the gearshift lever is moved by the foot, a ratcheting drum is rotated. This ratcheting drum has grooves cut into the side of it. The grooves on the ratcheting drum will direct the control rods when the drum is away from the transmission s gears. Moving the gear selector fork is the most common use of the grooves. With this in mind, whenever the lever is moved up or down, the drum is rotated one increment. The rotation of the drum allows for movement of the rods or forks as set by the grooves in the drum and the gears are then changed (Brain, n.d.). The gear shifting sequence can only be done in order; this means that no gears can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The odd thing about his character is that he is not seen very much in the film, it focuses more on Cinderella, and her family and her attempts to go to the ball . Also it focuses on the fact that the king is forcing his son to marry. Viewpoint affects many different aspects of a story and film. The term self care is a concept from Orem s self care deficit theory. The purpose of this concept analysis is to clarify the concept and determine how it is used in the nursing practice, particularly with rehabilitation patients. We will further explore this concept with literature reviews, the possible uses of this concept, its attributes, model and alternative cases, antecedents and consequences, and finally empirical referents. Aim of Analysis The aim of this concept analysis is to clearly define the concept of self care in relation to rehabilitation patients. The characteristics of self care will be further explored and explained, as well as its importance to nursing practice. By understanding the concept better, nurses will be able to be more involved in the patient s care and increase the rate of their recovery (Arman Hok, 2015). It acts as a broader commentary on the obligations to virtue, duty and honour at the expense of meaningful relationships and rational decision making. This dehumanisation while firstly seems justifiable to lessen the emotional burden, is alarming when considering that women are also given the names of flowers and treated as much. The euphoric imagery and naming associated with these women while seem flattering, in fact objectify them. Such is symptomatic of the role they play within society, where their aesthetics and frailty are commodities that are circumvented by wayward behaviour. The very positioning in the Vicario household of the flowerpots next to the pigsty, with its sacrificial stone and disembowelling table , encourages comparison between the aesthetic, resplendent women and the pigs. The alliteration draws attention to the role of the women and pigs as sacrifices to honour duty and appetite (not limited to the pigs), which pre empt the grotesque imagery and reality enforced by the disembowelling table where the victims are literally torn apart yet are a good source of domestic income . • 35. Absolute Film Is Fine Art Absolute Film Is Fine Art Although literature existing on the subject of abstract cinema s origins is not lacking, seldom does it appear in a purely art historical context. In mentioning visual artists, particularly focusing on Hans Richter and Viking Eggeling s collaborations, scholarship rarely questions the aesthetic motives or innate desire for each of these artists to transcend pencil and paper, oil and canvas primarily; so what are these films connections to previous endeavors for these pioneers of abstract film? What drove these established artists to strive for a universal language and rhythm in the medium of moving image that couldn t be achieved on canvas or paper? These particular questions will be focused specifically on and answered through an understanding of the advent of absolute cinema, between 1918 and 1925, before Richter would move beyond and arguably surpass a non objective approach to film. Absolute cinema aesthetically conjoins film to the immobile fine arts, bridging the gap and acting as the logical baby step between painting on canvas and working with celluloid. Not only does absolute cinema provide such a bridge but it also allows the expression of abstract and geometrical forms to exceed staticity. In the journey to identify what knowledge is the certainty principle was one of the first concepts that I learned that explained how we, as humans, consider ourselves to know something. The certainty concept suggests that knowledge requires evidence that is sufficient to rule out the possibility of error. Skepticism in general says that we do not know many propositions about the external world that we naturally take ourselves to know. Descartes affirms skepticism by analyzing beliefs as knowledge. Meditations seeks to find a solution to the notion of if one doubts a belief, can it be considered knowledge? Descartes first submits that it is not necessary to show all beliefs are false to satisfy the knowledge condition. He adds that if in each belief there is doubt that we can conclude that all things that we believe can be considered false knowledge. He seeks to prove this by setting a precondition that we cannot critique all beliefs, just the ones that govern our life or that serve as a broad component of belief. Descartes then provides context to where beliefs come from and states that beliefs are created from senses or through senses. He then states that senses are false because they are deceptive and shouldn t be trusted which is the first cause of being able to doubt a belief. This idea in my opinion is the argument of Reality vs. Virtually, which is what we encounter through our experiences vs. what we dream about. The question posed is that we doubt our beliefs because we do not know if what we perceive from our senses is true.
