Mapp Vs. Ohio State
Mapp vs. Ohio State(1961) Background: In the Mapp vs Ohio state court case, the issue
disputed was when the appellant Dollree Mapp was convicted of possessing obscene materials
after an illegal police search of her home for a fugitive. During the year of 1961, Ohio police
were looking for a criminal accused of a bombing and had been told that he was hiding in
Dollree Mapp s house. Police acted quickly and came to her house but when she didn t answer
the door, police officers forced themselves inside. Dollree demanded to see the police s search
warrant once having spoken to her attorney but police didn t have one so they held a piece of
paper to disguise that it was a warrant when it really wasn t. Dollree grabbed the paper and when
trying to read it, she was then handcuffed on the ground and police continued to search her house
(Landmark cases). During the search, officers found pornography and other materials that were
against Ohio State law in her basement. As a result, Dollree was arrested, found guilty, and
sentenced to 1 to 7 years in the Ohio Women s Reformatory. Dollree felt that justice was unfair so
she consulted with her attorney. She appealed her conviction on the basis of freedom of
expression (Oyez). Dollree s lawyers argued to the Supreme Court of Ohio that she should never
have been brought to trial because the material evidence resulted from an illegal (warrantless)
search and how it was illegally obtained. In its ruling, the Supreme Court of Ohio

Carter s The Bloody Chamber
The idea of the female only existing in relation to the male can also be evidenced in Carter s The
Bloody Chamber for example when the narrator recollects My satin nightdress had just been
shaken from its wrappings; it had slipped over my young girl s pointed breasts and shoulders,
supple as a garment of heavy water, and now teasingly caressed me, egregious, insinuating, nudging
between my thighs as I shifted restlessly in my narrow berth (2), this echoes Berger s claim that
The surveyor of womanin herself is male; the surveyed femaleas this quote shows the narrator is

Clegg s reactions such as blushing when he is asked by Miranda if he wants to kiss her or if he
is homosexual indicate that because his idealisation of her is that extreme he cannot touch her.
To touch Miranda would ruin his imaginary persona of her, he contents himself in taking
photographs of Miranda in different poses. The male gaze is prominent in the taking of the
photos, Clegg states, It was my chance I had been waiting for. I got the old camera and took
some photos, I would have taken more only she started to move a bit, so I had to pack up and
get out quick. (95). Mulvey s theory of the male gaze occurs when the audience is put into the
perspective of a man, when a scene focuses on such aspects as the curves of a female s body,
therefore putting the viewer in the eyes of a male. This is similar to what is happening when
Clegg is taking the photographs as he earlier states I took of her dress and her stockings and left
on certain articles, just the brassieres and the other so as not to go the whole hog. She looked a
real picture lying there (95), by doing this the reader is allowed insight to Clegg s perspective, it
is clear by his language that he is manipulating her, he changes her clothing and places her down in
a position that enables him to focus on her body in order to achieve the desired photographs.

The New World Of Death
I lie against the decrepit, rickety floorboards of our ship. I lie barely awake. The profuse
thoughts that previously encircled me brought a weariness upon me. Bound by a profusion of
apprehension and pity, all my comrades and I set out on this day for our homeland. I do not
perceive Ithaca as being far away physically, albeit the mental endeavour seems as if it will carry
into eternity, or until the end of the world. As if it cannot exist anymore, and reality becomes
only a speck in a vast world of death. As if a whirlpool of thought, emotion, and sound are
suddenly whisked away into a small funnel and absorbed elsewhere. A concept I can imagine, yes,
but I cannot describe simply. It is a thing of imagination after all. Perhaps these... Show more

As I forged on to exit the ship, I felt a warm presence behind me. Hermes swiftly. Hermes wore a
glistening white cloak and held a shimmering, golden staff. My crew mates left the ship and trudged
through the remaining, shallow sea, which was not a substantial amount.
Odysseus, son of Laertes, o Master Mariner, almighty warrior and expert captain, I come to
inform thee of this island you are about to ponder upon. On this island of Agapios lies a truly
petrifying beast, one known as Karibrion. Winged and a flying master, it can also stand on the
earth we stand on. Though it may seem friendly upon your first encounter, do not befriend it.
You will only meet one, and there is a catch associated with this: the one you meet will give you
food but eat seven of your men, or you can leave the island and search elsewhere in hopes of
survival. Be careful, because they move so quickly, you may not notice at first that your men are
missing. Their trickery is nothing to be tested. If it were me, I would stay here. It is the lesser of
two evils.
I did not have the time to thank the delicate, yet tricky soul of Hermes as he vanished away into
the air. I could only imagine that one, likely the one recommended for me, was the lesser of two
evils. Nevertheless, my crew, in front of me, waded through the little amount of water we had yet
to maneuver about and washed up ashore. I followed ponderously in travail.
The island was much more vast than I had imagined, and as I got closer

Route 66 Thesis
The narrative of the decline of the most famous paved highway in American history reads like a
tragic love affair. Fabled , notorious , and inspiring are words that can easily be woven into the
dialogue. Adam Payne and Douglas Hurt point out insightfully, Route 66 is a symbol of
American identity, a pilgrimage site for personal voyages of self discovery (283). It was
established in 1926. Stretching nearly 2500 miles, Route 66 captured America s sense of freedom,
adventure and opportunity (Blitz, par. 1). Although Route 66 is no longer an important
thoroughfare for cars travelling from Chicago to Los Angeles, it continues to be a road trip many
people long to experience. As Payne and Hurt put it, Route 66 is a destination in itself the... Show

Politics Of Location
In Adrienne Rich s Notes Towards a Politics of Location (1984), Rich discusses the importance
of one s awareness of location and the role it plays in being able to empathize with people of
different ethnicities, social backgrounds, and sexual orientations. The idea of location applies not
just to women who part of the transnational feminist movement in the United States are, is but
also for people all over the globe to change their ways of thinking about their location and how
they can relate to others from differing locations by asking specific questions. In Notes Towards
a Politics of Location, Rich successfully encourages readers to reflect on their centeredness and
offers solutions to overcome the barriers that centeredness may construct. Rich s essay can also be
related to Adichie s TedTalk from 2009 titled The Danger of a Single Story, where Adichie gives a
compelling account of how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reality is that there are overlaps in our circles, the Universe does not just revolve around one
location or ethnicity. Our perspective has its limitations, to combat this, we must raise issues from
more than one perspective and location instead of just our own. Rich offers a solution to
overcome centeredness by learning to ask the right questions or at least care enough to ask
questions to minority groups instead of using overarching assumptions and broad categories to fit
people into (Notes 15). If we have learned anything in these years of late twentieth century
feminism, it s that always blots out what we really need to know: When, where, and under what
conditions had the statement been true (214). Asking these questions will help ease the tension
between individual centeredness and a collective movement, by allowing people to come to the
realization that all of us are made up in different kinds of ways and are shaped by different

Mythology Short Answers Essay
1). How is the word myth used popularly? For example, what does the statement, It s a myth mean?
In contrast, how is the word myth used in the academic context? After considering the definition in
your textbooks and course materials, write a definition in your own words.
The academic definition of a myth is discovering a way of making meaning that has been part of
every human society. I believe myths are stories that are told from generation to generation.
Depending on our culture, religion, beliefs and so on would determine the moral meaning behind
the story. Some myths are legends. For example, the cross of Jesus is determined to be a legend
and a myth. Depending on how the story is interpreted by the person listening to it. Myth ... Show

Religion is what people believe in, their faith, like a since of hope. In today s society some
religions have become myths so the start of newer religions may form. The very basic aspects of
the world around us that myths explains are the course of day and night or seasons, the
mysteries of life and death, and the creation of the world. In the African American culture we
believe when a loved one has passed on we should celebrate their life. Celebrating their life
means they are no longer in pain or suffering they are going home to the Almighty and we should
be happy for them. Dealing with change, suffering, and loss is really about the same we pray to
the man above and hope we can get through it. In our culture we rely a lot on hope.
4). How would you defend mythology s relevance in contemporary culture? Think about familial
and cultural traditions. Also, consider how mythology is used in the arts and in advertising to
typify human experience.
Mythology has to put forth a comprehensive compelling force on the culture, the arts and the
literature of African American culture remains part of the African heritage and language. Poets and
artists from segregation times to the present have to obtain inspiration from African Mythology and
African Folktales have discovered contemporary significance and connected to the matter at hand in

Employees maintain a display that showcases a picture and small biography of each fellow worker
on active duty (Reed, 2008). There have been cases documented for unfair treatment. For instance,
United Airlines provided mobilized reservists with retirement pension contributions that were too
small, calculating the amount based on a minimum wage for union employees rather than the
employees actual salaries preceding deployment, according to a lawsuit filed by the employees

A Historical Day For The American Nation
November 5th 2008 was a historical day for the American nation. On this day President Barack
Obama gave his victory speech. In the speech Obama addressed multiple things that he wants to
accomplish. He uses many ways to connect with the audience and gives them hope to change
America. He remains humble and shows character by giving all the credit to the people. He uses
a lot of ethos, pathos and logos to persuade the audience that he will do good and honest work in
the office. Ethos is the author s credibility, character, honesty and accomplishment. The author
attempts to appear honest and knowledgeable. An example of ethos can be found when he refers
to himself at the unlikeliest candidate, I was never the unlikeliest candidate for this office.
Being the unlikeliest candidate and winning the elections shows that Obama is hardworking and
will not give up. On top of that he does not brag about winning but give all the credit to the
people. These are good qualities that people want the president to have and this shows that he
going to work hard in the office. Another example can be found when he is talking about how his
campaign started and the support he was getting at the start of the campaign. He says, It began in
the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.
This shows how his journey to the white house began and how hard he had to work to get there.
Unlike many other candidates who got large funds from private

At present there is a growing volume of students who migrate from one Culture to another, which
represents a phenomenon that requires understanding the process Of adaptation or acculturation to

How Far Do You Agree With Buckley s
I strongly agree with Buckely s essay because it stresses the author s theory that we wait and

Blackfeet Indians Argumentative Essay
Generally when one thinks of the American west their mind jumps to an image of untouched,
unspoiled land, such as the land that is represented by America s national parks. These tourist
destinations in the West showcase the history of our nation s land in a way that many people
assume is and has always been the reality, but although the natural beauty of these lands is
represented perhaps the beauty of the cultures that used to inhabit them is not. The Blackfeet
Indians once occupied a large portion of what is now Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana, but as the
Whiteman moved west and began to modernize, this sacred land was invaded. As a result of this
modernization the Blackfeet Indians were forced to assimilate into the modern white society. This

Willy Loman In Willy Of A Salesman
Willy Loman is trapped in his life, often being suffocated by the things around him, but what is
really trapping him in these bricks and windows, bricks and windows is himself. Willy is
trapping himself from achieving success. In his head, success is thought as the same by everyone
else in the society, to be rich, have kids, and a house. The reason why Willy himself can t achieve
it, is because of the things in his life happening around him that makes his mindthink differently.
For example, his two sons. Willy had thoughthighly of them back when they were younger,
especially Biff because they were both hotshots at their high school. Even Biff admits that his
dad pressured him to much to do well in school, which led him to getting nowhere in life saying
Biff: I stole myself out of every good job since high school! Willy: And whose fault is that? Biff:
And I never got anywhere because you blew me so full of hot air I could never stand taking
orders from anybody! That s whose fault it is! Willy: I hear that! Linda: Don t, Biff! (131). This
conversation Willy had with Biff had changed his mindset on how he raised his child, he once
thought he was motivating his sons but it ended up making his sons so pressured to not end up
doing anything with their life. When Willy had come home from a business trip to see his sons
broke and jobless not even achieving success themselves, it had ruin Willy s success as well,
wanting his children to exceed in life.

the ring critique Essay
The movie The Ring was a horror film that I found to be a major disappointment. The opening
scene is probably one of the best in the whole movie, which in my opinion is pathetic. When the
young girl in the beginning was killed seven days after watching the tape because her heart stopped
after seeing Samara, I thoughtto myself Wow, this may turn out to be an interesting movie, but
they ruined it as soon as they showed the girl dead in the closet looking green and disfigured. I
don t know where the directors are from, but in the real world, people don t turn green and look
disfigured when their hearts stop. The movie continues with the girl s crazy aunt trying to solve the

She became horrified and realized she, too, only now had seven days to discover the truth about
the tape before being killed herself. Rachel and her son Aidan get caught right in the middle of this
twisted plot when Samara comes after them, and it s up to Rachel and her ex husband Noah to save
them all.
I didn t like how this tape was the reason people were dying because it is so unrealistic, which
made it hard for me to be scared or entertained by the plot at all. I also think that the movie went
way to far in depth on such a narrow topic. This movie could have easily been shortened, which
could have made it much more interesting and exhilarating. The opening scene where the girl
slowly went towards the bathroom as the water slowly trickled out towards her foot and grabbed
for the door handle was very suspenseful, but this was ruined because at this point your imagination
was running wild wondering what was going to happen, then BAM! you see pretty much nothing
and you are left wondering.
There were a few highlights with this movie though; it wasn t a complete waste of eight dollars.
The special effects during the movie were really good, especially when Samara came out of the
television at the end of the movie. I also thought the little boy, Aidan, was a good actor, which

The Giver Research Paper
Have you ever wanted to live in a world that is just perfect ? A world where you can have diverse
families, a world where nobody can t control the way how you feel about a person, and able to
keep your best memories to yourself. Well, in the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, an eleven male
named Jonas(the protagonist) lived in a utopian community where rules must be obeyed. Rules like
having no bad memories, can t feel attraction or love for someone, which is controlled by elders.
Living with a family that has one daughter, one brother, one mom, and one dad. The three main
differences between Jonass society and reality are family, feelings, and memories.

In Jonas s society, members of the community aren t allowed to feel feelings of attraction or love.
According to the novel, it states, Jonas nodded. I liked the feeling of love, he confessed. He
glanced nervously at the speaker on the wall reassuring himself that no one was listening, I wish
we still had that, he whispered (Lowry 126). This quote shows how in Jonas s world, people
weren t allowed to feel the attraction of love. In Jonas s society, they call these type of feelings,
the stirrings , which they described it as the feeling of wanting. These stirrings have to be cured
by taking a pill every day, to get rid of it. According to the novel, it states, Do I have to report it?
he asked his mother... No, no, she said. It s just the pills. You re ready for the pills, that s all.
That s the treatment for Stirrings (Lowry 37 38). This quote shows how the rule in Jonas s
society is to take a pill if you had the feeling for someone. Unlike Jonas s society, in today s
society, we are not controlled by feeling a certain type of way towards a man/women. Feelings in
our society do not have to be cured every day, it runs through our body every single day, which is
normal for people in society today. How would a person feel something for someone, if they don t

George Orwell s A Hanging Essay
In any account written by an author, real or fake, there is always a deeper goal whether it is to
persuade, inform, or just simply entertain. There is always some meaning at its heart. Sometimes,
however, messages become swayed and it becomes difficult to recognize the author s intentions in
writing. Sometimes his or her stance is unclear, however though one side could be strongly argued.
A Hangingby George Orwell is a prime example of this type of work, as the 1931 essay provokes
thought on the issue of capital punishment. The story details an experience Orwell had during his
work in Burma in which he was present for one prisoner s execution. There is certainly conflict
within Orwell for taking part in this event, and for being in relation to the functionaries
responsible for carrying out the sentence. While Orwell does not make his belief on capital
punishment clear, there is fair reason to argue that he is, in fact, an abolitionist. This is due to his
possible usage of the prisoner to represent the inhumanity of the death sentence, an excitable dog
portraying the event through the eyes of an innocent creature, and the irony of the workers
humorous words in contrast to the stark sobriety of the day however, Orwell s supposed objective,
though strong, also comes under scrutiny in its effectiveness. In order to address this piece and
analyze its methods of intention, it is preferable to first provide a summary of its events so that a
fluent discussion is allowed. The

Objectives And Objectives Of An Organization
As I ve explained in my previous article, the stakeholders in an organisation are its customers,
employers, employees, government, owners and suppliers amongst others. The stakeholder can
be a person, group or even an organisation that has an influence in a company. Stakeholders are
different from others as they can have a different type of influence on a business. Every business
has aims and objectives. An aim is a more broad term and is what the business would like to
achieve in the long term, where as an objective is more of a short term thorough approach on
how to achieve the long term aim. Detailed objectives are known as SMART objectives, this is a
mnemonic acronym, providing criteria to guide when setting objectives. These objectives go as
follows: * Specific Means that the objective the business would like to achieve is precise and
clearly stated. * Measurable The outcome the firm would like to achieve is a numeric value that
can be measured. * Achievable The objective should be possible by the organisation. * Realistic
The target is what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources. * Time The
objective will be met within a given period of time. Most businesses have general aims which
they can break down into detailed objectives. By arranging aims and objectives; firms give
themselves a sense of direction and purpose. With a general plan in place, a business can set
precise objectives and observe its progress towards achieving

Guns Germs And Steel
In Jared Diamonds book, Guns, Germs, and Steel, he outlines the major factors that have
contributed to both European colonization, and subsequent Indigenous defeats, as well as to
globalization. Specifically, I will be expanding on the factors that contributed to Fernando Pizarro
s miraculous, and somewhat unlikely defeat of the Incan emperor Atahualpa at the battle of
Cajamarca. Francisco Pizarro s defeat of the Incan Emperor Atahualpa with only 168 Spaniards
compared to an Incan army 500 times more numerous is seen historically as being a success by
Diamond. This success can be seen as being a conglomerate of different attributes rather than one
single reason. To begin, the Spanish s far superior technological advancements gave them a... Show

In his book, Technology, Disease, and Colonial Conquests, Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries:
Essays Reappraising the Guns and Germs Theories, he argues that Cajamarca itself could be
considered more of a coup d etat than an actual battle. As Raudzens explains, according to the
Spanish chronicler, Garcilo de la Vega, the battle was a diplomatic conference, where the guest
negotiators happened to turn on their hosts, when they were themselves most vulnerable. To
Raudzens, this battle seems to have proven nothing about the military power of the Spanish, but
rather of their nastiness over the Incas. Another point expanded on by Rautzens is the Guns and
Germs theory propagated by Diamond. To Rautzen, the technological implications of the battle
were a greater factor than that of disease, as disease did not directly impede on the battle itself.
As Garcilo de la Vega described about the battle, the Spanish s battle tactics consisted of cannon
and Gun fire, followed by a charge of 62 cavalry, and lastly completed with armored men on foot.
To Raudzen, many of these points are over dramatized in many accounts. Both the horses, and the
guns of the Spanish inhibited a large shock effect among the Inca, but their guns could only fire
once and were few. As for the horses, the majority of the fighting was taking place in an urban
setting, which limited their maneuvering ability. Also the Incas did possess body armor, though it
was not up to par with that of the Spanish s steel. He also agrees with most scholars, (e.g.
Diamond, Ibid, Hyman and Orish) in that the majority of the fighting took place with swords. He
ends by suggesting that rather than Pizarro s victory being one of a technological sort, it was one in
which was more marginal than

Total Quality Management Essay
Total Quality Management The emergence of the global marketplace demands that a company act
on a global scale to be competitive. Competing on this level requires that a company provide a

ISO 9001 encompass all of the elements listed in ISO 9002 and ISO 9003. This standard contains
twenty clauses that address issues such as management responsibility, process control, and

such as design, production, and servicing by striving towards the goal of total quality management.
ISO 9000 1 addresses quality management and quality assurance standards. This document defines
the primary concept of the series such as principal objectives and responsibilities, the process of an
organization, and the roles of documentation. This document also provides a definition of
terminology and provides guidance needed for all ISO 9000 series issues.
ISO 9004 1 addresses internal procedures such as organizational goals, management responsibilities,
training, and servicing. As in the ISO 9001 series, this series also contains twenty clauses. This is
also the standard, which provides for the most misunderstandings. It is important that companies
completing the certification process understand the relationship of this standard to the other ISO

Leadership Skills During The Nazi Party Essay
In this essay I will base leadership skills on how effective the pair were with what they did within
the Nazi Party as well as partially on the qualities that made them both respectively good leaders.
The German Workers Party was formed on the 5th January 1919. It was set up by Anton Drexler,
Karl Harrer, Dietrich Eckart and Gottfried Feder. It later became the National Socialist German
Workers Party in 1920 and was called the Nazi Partyas a nickname. Drexler was the Chairman of
the Party from 1920 1921 and was succeed by Adolf Hitlerfrom 1921 1945. Within the Party there
were other organisations: the Sturmabteilung(SA) and the Schutzstaffel (SS). The SA were also
known as Stormtroopers and they were the military for the party. The SS started out as private
bodyguards for Hitler but then became the parties military force. Hitler became Chancellor,
appointed by President Paul von Hindenburg, in 1933. In the 1933 General Election, the
Communist Party were banned and the Nazi Party got a majority so had power (1). Hindenburg
died in 1934. After this Hitler then made a combined role of Chancellor and President which was
called Fuhrer (2). On the 1st September 1939, the Nazi s invaded Poland and two days later France
and Britain declared war on Germany. This was the beginning of World War Two (1). Heinrich
Himmler was the Nazi Propaganda Leader from 1926 1930. He became the head of the SS in 1929
and in 1936 he was the head of the new national police (3).

World Church Review
Theology in the Majority World Church
Book Review of Theology in the Context of World Christianity
Theology in the context of World Christianity by Timothy Tennent is a great book about theology
development in the post west Christianity. I am amazed by the fact that theology in Africa, Latin
America and Asia has been expanding by the grace of God. At the same time, I feel the pain of the
traditional western theology being dated quickly. This book refreshed my mindset of theology by
integrating systematic theology with missiology (158/8686).
Coming from a culture where Christianity is new, it is exciting for me to read a book focusing on
theology in the majority world church. This book is very encouraging to me. It brings a new

Tennent carefully reviewed the history of Chinese Christianity. It is quite amazing to realize that
the Nestorians reached out and gained ground in China as early as AD 635. That s even before the
Europe was Christianized. Although I doubt the outcome of the BTJM movement, I am encouraged
by the message of evangelize the Islam, Judaism by the Chinese missionaries.
Tennent also discussed the importance of culture and church with the category of ecclesiology. As
the majority world church is facing the non Christian world and culture, it is pivotal to develop a
more engaged theology in the midst of a social and cultural landscape that is always changing
(7581/8686).
The shortcomings of this book is his assumption of the readers knowing the traditional western
theology well. He used big paragraphs to discuss the difference between the rising majority church
theology and the traditional western theology. Another area will be lacking the discussion on
theological education for the majority world church. The churches emerged quickly in Africa,
Latin American and Asia need time to raise scholars and teachers who can develop and teach
theology. The centers of theology scholarship is still in the west. It will be great if the western
seminaries can prepare well for the training of next generation theologians with global

Modern Dance Pioneers
When it comes to dance there are many styles such as ballet, jazz, and lyrical, but the one that
stands out is modern. When it comes to modern dance, there are many pioneers such as Alvin Ailey,
Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Isadora Duncan. The two that interest me the most are Isadora
Duncan and Alvin Ailey. Isadora Duncan was born on May 26, 1877 as Angela Duncan in San
Francisco, California. Her mother was Dora, and her father was Joseph Duncan, who left the
family when Isadora was still young. Her family then moved to Oakland where Isadora and her
sister taught dance classes to help earn money for the family. Isadora was the youngest of four
children and as a child and her siblings were Augustin, Raymond, and Elizabeth Duncan. She took

Similarities Between Stalin And Hitler
Stalin and Hitler: Similarities and Difference Stalin and Hitler emerged when political and
economic instability had crippled the USSR and Germany in the 1920s. They began making
improvements which encouraged their people to believe that a prosperity awaited them. This
notion would unfortunately turn out as an illusion. Both figures would eventually rule by decree.
Despite treading on different paths of dictatorship, both figures still find some commonalities. Two
prominent differences would certainly come to mind when distinguishing Stalin and Hitler. The
first notable difference lies in the fact that both men had reigned over different territories. Stalin

Hitler and Stalin had created the Gestapo and NKVD respectively (Waugh, 2001). Both
organizations consisted of thugs whose sole duty was to purge those deemed disloyal by their
respective totalitarians (Feeney, 2014). Such ruthlessness would result in people becoming too
intimidated to voice their dissatisfaction against the state (Feeney, 2014). They also utilized
propaganda to strengthen their influence over their peoples lives (Feeney, 2014). This became
evident when Stalin and Hitler used propaganda to glorify themselves and to criticize Western
ideals (Waugh, 2001). This enabled them to rule with an iron fist (Feeney, 2014). With this
achieved, both men would then their sights on world domination (McAleavy, 2002). In conclusion,
Stalin and Hitler are separated by their ideologies and geographical boundaries. In addition, they
uniquely vary from each other in terms of how they consolidated power in their respective nations.
However, the resemblance shared by their ability to subdue their people cannot be downplayed.
Both figures were ultimately reckoned as tyrants responsible for mass atrocities which still haunts

and the models overall efficiency. Our class measured the cranes on a scale of one to five.
Obviously the engineering process was to be applied via the construction of the crane and to which

figuring out what build held the best ratio of material to weight held.

Lincoln Electrics Essay
1.Should Lincoln Electric expand into India by investing in a major production facility there?
I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its
growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner
in order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy,
labor, culture and so on.
LE is known for its high quality products and its technical innovations. On its 60 years of
international experience, the company gained valuable knowledge on what to do and what to avoid
when moving abroad, and that is why they refocused their expansion strategy into joint ventures,
instead of acquisitions avoiding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That could jeopardize LE position of finding a partner in India, because the company would be
exposed to share some of its secrets with them, and as the case states, they wouldn t mind coping it
in the future. Another difficulty the company will face is the two main competitors that are already
doing business in India, Ador welding Ltd and ESAD India.
Finally, we have to wonder how the Liability of Foreigners would affect the company. Even though
we do not have any direct reference on the culture and political situation, we can assume that they
are a lot different to what the company is used in its own country. Therefore, and even though the
recommendation is to enter India finding a partner that can help them understanding the culture,
distribution channels and help them dealing with the Indian bureaucracy, the LOF variables should
be taking into account to help the company minimize the failure risk of succeeding in India.
2.Irrespective of your answer to the first question, suppose Lincoln Electric does expand into the
Indian market by investing in a production facility: Should they enter through acquisition,
Greenfield, or joint venture? What factors inform your decision among these entry modes?
Analyzing the pros and cons of each entry mode, I would say that a Joint Venture(JV) is the best
option for LE to enter the country. On the one hand, local partners can help LE to reduce the LOF.

always believed that only males can be the leaders and kept ignoring Paikea s attempts to be a
part of the class. Sometimes Koro even got very upset with Paikea, saying, You don t mess around

she took action to prove herself. One of these times the boys had to swim after a whale s tooth

The audience sees some characters believing that destiny will determine their fate whereas
others are searching for power in the form of influence or money. A two colour structure is used
to highlight these aspects where yellow represents hope and blue represents power. The film
opens in a golden light, which symbolises money but also the hope of becoming a millionaire.
Generally, Jamal s childhood memories are visualised in warm and bright colours that become
colder and muted as his life adverse experiences approach the present. Latika wears bright yellow
to symbolise happier times. However, when she is separated from Jamal or is being exploited
and forced into prostitution by Maman or the crime boss, Javed, she wears less yellow and the
colour is muted. In contrast, the protagonists are portrayed in dark or washed out colours in
scenes that include blue hues that signify power. The blue god Rama also symbolises the Hindu
vigilantes attacking the Muslim residents. The interrogation scenes use unusual camera angles
and lighting to further emphasise power, such as when Jamal is depicted in a dim light, but light
is shone on the top of the interrogator at the rear of the shot. Overall, India s polar society is

SOCIAL WHEELS AND SPACE RACES
When we talk about recent innovation, social change, industrial change, what pops into most of

our civilization to expand out tech beyond the sky. The answer to that starts with politics. To be
more exact, a nazi v2 rocket project late in WW2. Although it wasn t a very effective weapon, it

with a couple more Russians waving the red flag in outer space. The US barely catching up,

other countries, it would make much more sense if both superpowers worked together, instead of

Film Analysis Of The Movie Life Is Beautiful
When I watched Life is Beautiful I thought the movie was very interesting. I love how Guido is
very hopeful and making sure his son doesn t feel unhappy or know where and what they are

a waiter named Guido that is trying to win over this teacher, which is Dora with his is charm
and sense of humor. They eventually get married and they have a son named Giosue. They are

what s happening so he tells Giosue that it is a game where they are and there is a prize at the
end if they come in first place with the right amount of points. The actors and actresses in Life is
Beautiful were all pretty good in my opinion. My favorite actorin the movie would probably be
Roberto Benigni. I just love how sweet and caring he is to Giosue. He just wants to protect his son
from getting hurt and helping him stay away from any harm or danger. Nicoletta Braschithat plays

Modern Day Society And Creative Industries
Scriptwriters and Their Role in Modern Day Society
What would Hollywood and its producers do without scriptwriters? A person with a camera can
only do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from.
Essentially, an excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting
has been an interest of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was
first exposed to drama. I was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the
writing aspect of the class. I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having
to look them directly in the eyes, and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I
would make a decent scriptwriter. Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of
the scriptwriter in modern day society and creative industries. According to the National Careers

Causes Of Alexander The Great
The Empire of Alexander lived on past the death of its founder, but soon fragmented into
numerous smaller kingdoms ruled by his generals. The Macedonian homeland came under the
control of the line of Antigonus I Monophthalmus, a general and satrap under Alexander. The
line of Antigonus would rule Macedon into the middle of the second century BC, when the
kingdom was overcome by a myriad of problems, both internal and external. The reasons for the
decline and eventual annexation of the Kingdom of Macedon include the weakening of the
Macedonian army, the chaotic political order in Macedonia, and the rising might of Rome. The
downfall of the Kingdom took nearly 40 years to achieve, and thus no single reason may be
looked to as the cause of Macedon s annihilation as an independent country. However, the
combination, primarily, of those three things as they will each in turn be highlighted, brought
about the undoing of homeland of history s greatest general. In the annals of history, few leaders
are as well remembered, as celebrated, as Alexander the Great. Indeed, his epithet suggests much
both about him as a leader and about popular opinion of him. He among all other generals and
kings in history forged a lasting reputation as the greatest of generals. He held together a veteran
army, and huge empire through force of personality. The loyalty of his generals, the Diadochi, was
his greatest strength as a general, and his greatest weakness as a king. When Alexander died

started off with trivial car issues. My car broke down and I have been renting a car since last
Saturday. Sunday the Men s Choir at the Church celebrated their 18th Anniversary. I was asked
by one of the members if I could stay until the program. I had already planned to go home, take a
nap, and then return, but when he asked I felt compelled to stay. I stayed at the Church form 9:00
7:00 pm. They had over 12 guest choirs to come and each choir sang two selections. I thoughtI
would take advantage of this opportunity to mingle with the people and Mrs. Walls was one of
the first I encountered. As she sat down next to me I could tell immediately by her star glasses
and wrap on her head that she was flamboyant outwardly as well as inwardly. I told her I liked
her glasses and how unique they were and she responded, I know, if anyone else wore these they
would look stupid. They only look good on me. I smiled trying to contain my laughter. She then
went on to talk and throughout the course of the conversation, I heard many words of anger,
frustration, and hurt projected towards the members of the church. I looked at this as the perfect
opportunity inject myself as preacher/teacher. Taking from Willimon; you have to set the message
of a gospel of love. (205) extracting from

CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS OF DISABILITY The contemporary conception of disability
proposed in the WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF)
views disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation
restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with a health condition (e.g. cerebral
palsy, Down syndrome or depression) and personal and environmental factors (e.g. negative
attitudes, inaccessible transportation, or limited social supports). Long ago there was great
confusion over the meaning of terms such as impairment, handicap, or disability. Then, in 1980,
the WHO provided great service by offering a clear way of thinking about it all in a little book...

Measurements of quality of life extend the disability focus beyond the ability to perform
activities of daily living to include a broad range of functioning (work, home, play) and also the
person s feelings of satisfaction and well being. This is necessarily a qualitative and subjective
concept, judged by the patient in terms of the extent to which they are able to do the things they
wish to do. In this medical context, quality of life is distinct from wealth or possessions, and to
amke this clear you may see the term health related quality of life. Reflecting these evolving ideas,
the WHO revised its Impairment, Disability and Handicap triad in 2001, re naming it the
International Classification of Function (ICF). This classification system provides codes for the
complete range of functional states; codes cover body structures and functions, impairments,
activities and participation in society. The ICF also considers contextual factors that may influence
activity levels, so function is viewed as an interaction between health conditions (a disease or
injury) and the context in which the person lives (both physical environment and cultural norms
relevant to the disease). It establishes a common language for describing functional states that can
be used in comparing across diseases and countries. The ICF therefore uses positive language, so
that activity and participation

  • 2. Mapp Vs. Ohio State Mapp vs. Ohio State(1961) Background: In the Mapp vs Ohio state court case, the issue disputed was when the appellant Dollree Mapp was convicted of possessing obscene materials after an illegal police search of her home for a fugitive. During the year of 1961, Ohio police were looking for a criminal accused of a bombing and had been told that he was hiding in Dollree Mapp s house. Police acted quickly and came to her house but when she didn t answer the door, police officers forced themselves inside. Dollree demanded to see the police s search warrant once having spoken to her attorney but police didn t have one so they held a piece of paper to disguise that it was a warrant when it really wasn t. Dollree grabbed the paper and when trying to read it, she was then handcuffed on the ground and police continued to search her house (Landmark cases). During the search, officers found pornography and other materials that were against Ohio State law in her basement. As a result, Dollree was arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to 1 to 7 years in the Ohio Women s Reformatory. Dollree felt that justice was unfair so she consulted with her attorney. She appealed her conviction on the basis of freedom of expression (Oyez). Dollree s lawyers argued to the Supreme Court of Ohio that she should never have been brought to trial because the material evidence resulted from an illegal (warrantless) search and how it was illegally obtained. In its ruling, the Supreme Court of Ohio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Carter s The Bloody Chamber The idea of the female only existing in relation to the male can also be evidenced in Carter s The Bloody Chamber for example when the narrator recollects My satin nightdress had just been shaken from its wrappings; it had slipped over my young girl s pointed breasts and shoulders, supple as a garment of heavy water, and now teasingly caressed me, egregious, insinuating, nudging between my thighs as I shifted restlessly in my narrow berth (2), this echoes Berger s claim that The surveyor of womanin herself is male; the surveyed femaleas this quote shows the narrator is describing herself as if to please a man, the fact that the night dress was given to her by the Marquis shows how she is willing to see herself through his eyes as if... Clegg s reactions such as blushing when he is asked by Miranda if he wants to kiss her or if he is homosexual indicate that because his idealisation of her is that extreme he cannot touch her. To touch Miranda would ruin his imaginary persona of her, he contents himself in taking photographs of Miranda in different poses. The male gaze is prominent in the taking of the photos, Clegg states, It was my chance I had been waiting for. I got the old camera and took some photos, I would have taken more only she started to move a bit, so I had to pack up and get out quick. (95). Mulvey s theory of the male gaze occurs when the audience is put into the perspective of a man, when a scene focuses on such aspects as the curves of a female s body, therefore putting the viewer in the eyes of a male. This is similar to what is happening when Clegg is taking the photographs as he earlier states I took of her dress and her stockings and left on certain articles, just the brassieres and the other so as not to go the whole hog. She looked a real picture lying there (95), by doing this the reader is allowed insight to Clegg s perspective, it is clear by his language that he is manipulating her, he changes her clothing and places her down in a position that enables him to focus on her body in order to achieve the desired photographs. ... • 4. The New World Of Death I lie against the decrepit, rickety floorboards of our ship. I lie barely awake. The profuse thoughts that previously encircled me brought a weariness upon me. Bound by a profusion of apprehension and pity, all my comrades and I set out on this day for our homeland. I do not perceive Ithaca as being far away physically, albeit the mental endeavour seems as if it will carry into eternity, or until the end of the world. As if it cannot exist anymore, and reality becomes only a speck in a vast world of death. As if a whirlpool of thought, emotion, and sound are suddenly whisked away into a small funnel and absorbed elsewhere. A concept I can imagine, yes, but I cannot describe simply. It is a thing of imagination after all. Perhaps these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I forged on to exit the ship, I felt a warm presence behind me. Hermes swiftly. Hermes wore a glistening white cloak and held a shimmering, golden staff. My crew mates left the ship and trudged through the remaining, shallow sea, which was not a substantial amount. Odysseus, son of Laertes, o Master Mariner, almighty warrior and expert captain, I come to inform thee of this island you are about to ponder upon. On this island of Agapios lies a truly petrifying beast, one known as Karibrion. Winged and a flying master, it can also stand on the earth we stand on. Though it may seem friendly upon your first encounter, do not befriend it. You will only meet one, and there is a catch associated with this: the one you meet will give you food but eat seven of your men, or you can leave the island and search elsewhere in hopes of survival. Fabled , notorious , and inspiring are words that can easily be woven into the dialogue. Adam Payne and Douglas Hurt point out insightfully, Route 66 is a symbol of American identity, a pilgrimage site for personal voyages of self discovery (283). It was established in 1926. Stretching nearly 2500 miles, Route 66 captured America s sense of freedom, adventure and opportunity (Blitz, par. 1). If we have learned anything in these years of late twentieth century feminism, it s that always blots out what we really need to know: When, where, and under what conditions had the statement been true (214). There is always some meaning at its heart. Sometimes, however, messages become swayed and it becomes difficult to recognize the author s intentions in writing. Sometimes his or her stance is unclear, however though one side could be strongly argued. A Hangingby George Orwell is a prime example of this type of work, as the 1931 essay provokes thought on the issue of capital punishment. The story details an experience Orwell had during his work in Burma in which he was present for one prisoner s execution. There is certainly conflict within Orwell for taking part in this event, and for being in relation to the functionaries responsible for carrying out the sentence. While Orwell does not make his belief on capital punishment clear, there is fair reason to argue that he is, in fact, an abolitionist. This is due to his possible usage of the prisoner to represent the inhumanity of the death sentence, an excitable dog portraying the event through the eyes of an innocent creature, and the irony of the workers humorous words in contrast to the stark sobriety of the day however, Orwell s supposed objective, though strong, also comes under scrutiny in its effectiveness. Objectives And Objectives Of An Organization As I ve explained in my previous article, the stakeholders in an organisation are its customers, employers, employees, government, owners and suppliers amongst others. The stakeholder can be a person, group or even an organisation that has an influence in a company. Stakeholders are different from others as they can have a different type of influence on a business. Every business has aims and objectives. An aim is a more broad term and is what the business would like to achieve in the long term, where as an objective is more of a short term thorough approach on how to achieve the long term aim. Francisco Pizarro s defeat of the Incan Emperor Atahualpa with only 168 Spaniards compared to an Incan army 500 times more numerous is seen historically as being a success by Diamond. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his book, Technology, Disease, and Colonial Conquests, Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries: Essays Reappraising the Guns and Germs Theories, he argues that Cajamarca itself could be considered more of a coup d etat than an actual battle. As Raudzens explains, according to the Spanish chronicler, Garcilo de la Vega, the battle was a diplomatic conference, where the guest negotiators happened to turn on their hosts, when they were themselves most vulnerable. To Raudzens, this battle seems to have proven nothing about the military power of the Spanish, but rather of their nastiness over the Incas. Another point expanded on by Rautzens is the Guns and Germs theory propagated by Diamond. To Rautzen, the technological implications of the battle were a greater factor than that of disease, as disease did not directly impede on the battle itself. As Garcilo de la Vega described about the battle, the Spanish s battle tactics consisted of cannon and Gun fire, followed by a charge of 62 cavalry, and lastly completed with armored men on foot. To Raudzen, many of these points are over dramatized in many accounts. Both the horses, and the guns of the Spanish inhibited a large shock effect among the Inca, but their guns could only fire once and were few. As for the horses, the majority of the fighting was taking place in an urban setting, which limited their maneuvering ability. Also the Incas did possess body armor, though it was not up to par with that of the Spanish s steel. He also agrees with most scholars, (e.g. Diamond, Ibid, Hyman and Orish) in that the majority of the fighting took place with swords. I am amazed by the fact that theology in Africa, Latin America and Asia has been expanding by the grace of God. At the same time, I feel the pain of the traditional western theology being dated quickly. This book refreshed my mindset of theology by integrating systematic theology with missiology (158/8686). It is quite amazing to realize that the Nestorians reached out and gained ground in China as early as AD 635. That s even before the Europe was Christianized. Tennent also discussed the importance of culture and church with the category of ecclesiology. As the majority world church is facing the non Christian world and culture, it is pivotal to develop a more engaged theology in the midst of a social and cultural landscape that is always changing (7581/8686). The shortcomings of this book is his assumption of the readers knowing the traditional western theology well. He used big paragraphs to discuss the difference between the rising majority church theology and the traditional western theology. Another area will be lacking the discussion on theological education for the majority world church. The churches emerged quickly in Africa, Latin American and Asia need time to raise scholars and teachers who can develop and teach theology. The centers of theology scholarship is still in the west. When it comes to modern dance, there are many pioneers such as Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Isadora Duncan. The two that interest me the most are Isadora Duncan and Alvin Ailey. Isadora Duncan was born on May 26, 1877 as Angela Duncan in San Francisco, California. Her mother was Dora, and her father was Joseph Duncan, who left the family when Isadora was still young. Her family then moved to Oakland where Isadora and her sister taught dance classes to help earn money for the family. Similarities Between Stalin And Hitler Stalin and Hitler: Similarities and Difference Stalin and Hitler emerged when political and economic instability had crippled the USSR and Germany in the 1920s. They began making improvements which encouraged their people to believe that a prosperity awaited them. This notion would unfortunately turn out as an illusion. Both figures would eventually rule by decree. Despite treading on different paths of dictatorship, both figures still find some commonalities. They also utilized propaganda to strengthen their influence over their peoples lives (Feeney, 2014). This became evident when Stalin and Hitler used propaganda to glorify themselves and to criticize Western ideals (Waugh, 2001). This enabled them to rule with an iron fist (Feeney, 2014). I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner in order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy, labor, culture and so on. There is a waiter named Guido that is trying to win over this teacher, which is Dora with his is charm and sense of humor. They eventually get married and they have a son named Giosue. They are all very happy until their happiness is interrupted Guido and Giosue are taken away from Dora and are taken to a concentration camp. Guido simply doesn t want Giosue to know about where he is and what s happening so he tells Giosue that it is a game where they are and there is a prize at the end if they come in first place with the right amount of points. A person with a camera can only do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from. Essentially, an excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. I was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing aspect of the class. I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having to look them directly in the eyes, and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter. Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society and creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search website based in the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create screenplays (2015). Constructing characters, shaping dialogue, and writing an engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession (AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015). • 39. Causes Of Alexander The Great The Empire of Alexander lived on past the death of its founder, but soon fragmented into numerous smaller kingdoms ruled by his generals. The Macedonian homeland came under the control of the line of Antigonus I Monophthalmus, a general and satrap under Alexander. The line of Antigonus would rule Macedon into the middle of the second century BC, when the kingdom was overcome by a myriad of problems, both internal and external. The reasons for the decline and eventual annexation of the Kingdom of Macedon include the weakening of the Macedonian army, the chaotic political order in Macedonia, and the rising might of Rome. The downfall of the Kingdom took nearly 40 years to achieve, and thus no single reason may be looked to as the cause of Macedon s annihilation as an independent country. Essay special education CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS OF DISABILITY The contemporary conception of disability proposed in the WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) views disability as an umbrella term for impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Disability is the interaction between individuals with a health condition (e.g. cerebral palsy, Down syndrome or depression) and personal and environmental factors (e.g. negative attitudes, inaccessible transportation, or limited social supports). Long ago there was great confusion over the meaning of terms such as impairment, handicap, or disability. Then, in 1980, the WHO provided great service by offering a clear way of thinking about it all in a little book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Measurements of quality of life extend the disability focus beyond the ability to perform activities of daily living to include a broad range of functioning (work, home, play) and also the person s feelings of satisfaction and well being. This is necessarily a qualitative and subjective concept, judged by the patient in terms of the extent to which they are able to do the things they wish to do. In this medical context, quality of life is distinct from wealth or possessions, and to amke this clear you may see the term health related quality of life. Reflecting these evolving ideas, the WHO revised its Impairment, Disability and Handicap triad in 2001, re naming it the International Classification of Function (ICF). This classification system provides codes for the complete range of functional states; codes cover body structures and functions, impairments, activities and participation in society. The ICF also considers contextual factors that may influence activity levels, so function is viewed as an interaction between health conditions (a disease or injury) and the context in which the person lives (both physical environment and cultural norms relevant to the disease). It establishes a common language for describing functional states that can be used in comparing across diseases and countries.
