really fragile on the inside but put off a rough look and was tough on the outside but sort of had

The Importance Of Censorship Content On The Internet
With the rise of the Internet, it has given everyone opportunities to stay better connected in the
world today and to be entertained. This has led to the creation of sites like Facebook, Youtube,
Twitter, Reddit, Google, and so many more. A lot of big companies have implemented the internet,
making them more successful and giving them a wider reach for business. With all this freedom,
however, this leads to inappropriate content being on the internet as well. There is an abundance of
violent and sexual content on the internet just like with older media, like movies and music. The
difference is that this unsuitable content is more accessible than before the invention of the
internet. This has caused discussion about whether or not the internet should be censored, and if so,
to what extent. While it is understandable why people do not want inappropriate content around
them in a more accessible way, allowing the bad content lets the good content be just as accessible
as well. The Internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content because this silences
voices that have the right to be heard and slows creativity and originality in art and entertainment.
Additionally, silencing freedom of speechtakes voices away from the people and gives it to the
richest and powerful.
Censoring the Internet would be taking away freedom of speech for the average internet user. The
largest internet censorship system is in China, which censors anything harmless to the Chinese

Similarities Between Lost Of Motion And Lost In Motion
When it comes to speaking or performing in front of an audience, everyone has their own ways
of handling the situation, even if they don t have a fear of a big audience. Some people imagine
their audience naked and some imagine themselves somewhere else. This trick to performing is
expressed in both Lost in Motion and Lost in Motion 2 These short films depict two professional
dancers performing breath taking moves, all while in perfect elegance. These two short films have
both similarities and differences. The comparison of these films can be best categorized by its
setting, its mood, and its music
As stated in the introduction, both people in the Lost in Motion videos are both professional
dancers. When the two dance, they seem to be alone in their thoughts. In Lost in Motion , the male
dancer is performing his routine backstage behind the curtain, he is alone both in his mind and
outside of it as well. The area where he is dancing is pitch black with blue lines complementing
each strong movement. After he finishes his routine, he proceeds to enter onto the stage in front
of the audience. In Lost in Motion 2 , the female dancer is performing in front of a live audience,
however in her mind she is alone. In her mind, she is dancing on a giant floating rock structure in
an ominous place filled with storms. While in this place, she dances on the edge, fearlessly. After
her performance, she then proceeds to enter backstage.
The settings of both short films contribute

Religious Hypocrisy In Tartuffe And Candide
Religious Hypocrisy in Tartuffe and Candide Religion in society has often been a tough pill to
swallow for everyone. Dating back to the 17th and 18th century authors, like Moliere and
Voltaire, often express their views on social issues with an outstanding play. Tartuffe, Moliere s
play, and Candide, Voltaire s play, both deal with the issue of religion in society. Tartuffe is
written as a comedy in which satirizes religious hypocrisy. It was wrote it about the views of the
bourgeois class towards religion in France. Almost a century later, Voltaire writes Candide a
satirical tale which condemns the clergy s hypocrisy in 18th century Europe. Moliere creates the
character Tartuffe to show the readers the hypocrisy hidden within christian standards. In Act 3,
Tartuffe explains to Dorine how unladylike she is being and tells her to cover that bosom and...

He is used to introduce the idea of fanaticism. Orgon cannot believe anyone who says that
Tartuffe is betraying him. He can only see the good works that he has has said and done.
Moliere uses the character Cleante to express his raw feelings about religious hypocrisy. Cleante
is considered to be the voice of reason in Tartuffe. Voltaire criticizes religious hypocrisy
differently than Moliere. Moliere used one single person to be hypocritical religion. Voltaire
chastises the entire religious assembly. Voltaire had the idea that the entire the clergy of the was
completely hypocritical. The clergy instructs the people of the catholic church to follow a set of
rules and regulations. If any one broke any one of the rules there were serious consequences.
However, Clergy members chose not to follow their own rules. Voltaire express this hypocrisy by
the hanging Dr. Pangloss, a philosopher. Pangloss offends an Inquisitor by expressing his
philosophical views. Dr. Pangloss was hanged by the clergy, however, the clergy is not punished for

A Framework For The Data Collection And Its Analysis Essay
. A framework for the data collection and its analysis has been recognised in order to answer the
research questions, as well as to achieve the targeted objectives by validating certain methods of
sourcing, collecting and analysing the data (Saunders Thornhill, 2012).
The study on the basis of the literature has shown that the research goals would be achieved more
efficiently with the quantitative method. Whereas, the literature reviewed has revealed an objective
need for numeric data that is necessary in a greater extent due to its absence, rather than non
numeric data. The quantitative method allows to assess the influence of the identified factors by
the end user, which haspermitted to build a consumer behaviour model. Ultimately, the variables
were identified on the basis of the literature studied.
3.2 Research philosophy and approach
The aims and objectives were fulfilled in order to develop a research philosophy. We may define it
as an over arching term relating to the development of knowledge and the nature of that knowledge
(Saunders Thornhill, 2012).
A deductive approach has been used for the research. This was done due to the fact that the
theoretical framework has been defined in advanced, which was followed by testing the previously
outlined theories.(Saunders Thornhill, 2012)Additionally, Positivism has been selected as a
Philosophy for the following study, as it allowed the author to research and assess the situation on

US Consumer Culture
While the US consumer culture has many different goods that encapsulate its uniqueness, nothing
quite represents the US than its trash. You are probably asking yourself at this point how a country
s waste can have any importance at all in its consumer culture. Waste is one output every company,
no matter its size, must be concerned with. With the ever present climate problems our society
faces, proper disposal of wasteis a necessity. Luckily for companies in the US, they have found a
way to capitalize through strategic marketing and planned obsolescence. Yet, unfortunately for
consumers, they are often taken advantage of without knowledge of the occurrence. The true

There are the manufacturers and corporations whose main concern largely is to profit. there are the
environmentalists who want to preserve the community and promote recycling to help diminish the
landfills. Then there are the consumers: some who buy what is cheap, and often created with
planned obsolescence in mind, some who buy with the environment in mind, but do little research
to ensure it is a wholesome company, and then there are those who to extensive research to make
sure they are hurting the environment as little as possible. Consumers have the opportunity to make
conscious decisions to help our environment, but the reality behind products is well hidden and
needs to be brought to higher attention. Waste epitomizes the American consumer culture to
continuously buy new products, and not think about the harm it is causing the environment.
Recycling has evolved over time into a ploy to make consumers spend more money, and is causing
more harm to the environment by increasing the amount of packaging used over product. The
growing consumerist culture can be attributed to the increased greenwashing scheme. Is it morally
right for companies to increase their waste in order to make more

Comparing Inequality In Eve And Samson Agonist By...
Inequality is a struggle that women have felt since the beginning of time, and an issue that still
plagues women today. Women are consistently reduced to their looks or the tasks they are able to
complete, and often their intellect and talents are ignored. Milton grapples the topic in both of his
works, Paradise Lost with Adam and Eve, and Samson Agonists with Samson and Dalila. Both Eve
and Dalila are presented as unequal characters when compared to Adam and Samson, making them
both more susceptible to the advances of evil forces. Each womanindividually faces temptation and
fails to supersede it, causing not only the fall for themselves, but the fall for their husbands as well.
For Eve, her fall fates not only Adam but the entire humanity... Show more content on

If Milton situated the woman as equal to their husbands and as helpmates instead of companions
then the likelihood of them falling would have decreased greatly. However, because of their
inequality it opened sin up to being a viable temptation. Milton had to present them as unequal
beings to be able to justify their fall and in return ultimately place the blame on God as a whole.
Milton s central theme seems to suggest that if God would have just created men and women
equal to begin with then they would not have fallen. This is easily seen in Paradise Lost, but when
examining Samson Agonists, it is evident there as well, since Dalila is part of the Philistinians, a
race that God sent Samson to destroy, making them unequal. Therefore, it can be assumed that
Milton presents Eve and Dalila the way he does in order to justify the fall and attempt to make
sense of why humanity had to fall even though it was created by an omnipotent

Money Is Not The Answer

Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of
working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of
life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the
purchase of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in
contemporary society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more
they want to obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point
where there is complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through
wealth. Dickens saw this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great
Expectations, such as Joe and Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a
person, but rather, true inner wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others.
Dickens uses the character of Joe to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that
Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe
embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions and relationships to others. This occurs before
Pip has received his expectations, where Joe sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. For
instance, when Mrs. Joe s dinner guests start to criticise Pip, Joe always aided and comforted me

Franklin D Roosevelt Traits
Franklin D. Roosevelt
All we have to fear is fear itself... These were the words of our 32nd President of the United
States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, also known as FDR. FDR was a democrat, and served as
president from March of 1933 to April of 1945 which is the longest tenure in our history. He did
more to change American society and politics than any other President in history. In doing this
research I found his ethics were often called into question, and feel he was not an ethical leader.
However, I feel he undisputedly was a visionary leader with multiple traits I would like to emulate.
Visionary Leader
President Roosevelt was a visionary leader based on his ability to rally the American people during
our darkest time in history, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1937 the economy was on the incline. Additionally he started a first of its kind, Fireside Chat
with the American people. This is similar to the Presidential Address that we have today. It was a
way for him to connect with the people, informing them of his vision and what he and Congress
had been doing for them, as well as what the American people could do to help themselves.
According to William J. Vanden Heuvel He defined the challenge and invited listeners to share in
resolving it. It wasn t us against the government. This fostered an inclusive environment, and
showed his implementation of The Five Cs as outlined in our Emergent Leadership lesson
(LM09SG 7), Care, Commit, Connect, Communicate and Celebrate. All of these traits are led me
to qualify FDR as a visionary leader, but I learned a leader can be visionary, and not be ethical.
Ethical Leader
Though visionary, FDR exhibited qualities which demonstrated he was not always an ethical leader
and this impacted his decision making processes. One way he

4 Situations Where You Could Not Collect Workers Comp
The purpose of workers comp is to give financial protection to employees that become injured
while working for their employer. Unfortunately, not all employees are eligible to receive workers
comp. Be aware of these situations where you would not receive benefits.
When An Employer Does Not Have Workers Comp Insurance
Some employers are not required to purchase workers comp insurance. This is because each state
has their own laws concerning which businesses must purchase the insurance.
For instance, in the state of New York, a small partnership owned by one or two people doesn t
need to purchase workers comp insurance. In North Carolina, a business is only required to have
workers comp insurance if there are at least 3 employees, and at least 10 employees if it is an

They have their own compensation act that will give an injured employee benefits, no matter
where the injury occurred, as long as they were performing a function of their job while receiving a
federal government paycheck. The compensation act also covers any occupational diseases that are
sustained over multiple days or shifts.
When You Are Employed As A Harbor or Longshore Worker
There are some occupations that also have their own compensation acts, such as those that are
employed as a longshore or harbor worker. This covers employees that are responsible for
loading, offloading, and securing ships, as well as ship builders. If injured on the job, the
compensation act has their own process for receiving benefits that would make you ineligible for
workers comp.
Keep in mind that you may work in that job field, but still qualify for workers comp benefits. This
includes office workers that are not doing the manual labor.
If you have questions about a workers comp case, speak with a lawyer in your area for a

outsourcing engineering and design positions as well. One of Boeing s executives really

Stop Body Dissatisfaction Is Not A New Discovery
Stop Body Dissatisfaction Body dissatisfaction is not a new discovery. Yet, nothing is done to
counteract the emotional damages done to people, Approximately 91% of women are unhappy
with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5%
of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media (11 Facts
1). The media will continue to keep the same body style in their magazines and movie. This
poses a very important problem, how can people who deal with kids teach them that appearances
are not as important as what is in their brains? Educators and parents need to know how to help
kids cope with their emotional issues and teach them what is really important. Parents should
teach kids strong morals and help them avoid overexposure to the media while educators should
teach kids how to live a healthy lifestyle. The best way to solve a problem is to know exactly what
the issue is. So what is body image? Body image is, How individuals feel about their physical
appearances (Brown University 1). Body image can be affected by more than one media outlet.
These outlets include the traditional media like magazines and TV shows. However, new outlets
have been introduced like social media, this media can be so damaging because it is easily

The Construction Of The Twin Towers
The Construction of the Twin Towers Foundation system In the beginning of the project, the
surveying team discovered a steep limestone cliff beneath the surface of the original site for the
Petronas Twin Towers. This would cause failure to the foundation resulting on a higher cost and the
need for exceptional experts to build the foundation as planned. It alarmed the whole construction
team to come up with a whole new strategy to overcome the problem which ended up with the

But each tower would exert 1,140 kilopascals of pressure, more than twice the weight bearing
capacity of Kenny Hill soil [ Gala Abada, 2004] As a result of the soil conditions, friction
barrettes (a rectangular friction piles with heavily textured sides varying from 40 meters to 105
meters in depth) were needed in order for the foundation to be completed. Grout tubes were
lowered into each hole to force concrete from the edge of the pile into the surrounding to maximize
the efficiency of the friction piles[ Spiro Pollalis,2002].A concrete mat cast was then installed on
top of the barrettes which then completed each foundation of the twin towers.

transgression by males is broad; it can include failing to perform one or more aspects of
masculinity or, as is more common in modern settings, failing to identify oneself with masculinity
at all, even identifying as a woman or some other gender identity. Gender deviance was taboo in
ancient Greece and Rome, with certain actions, e.g., consenting to being penetrated, resulting in the
loss of the man s citizenship and exile from the community. Not surprisingly, this phenomenon
continues to be met with strong negative reactions by many individuals in modern society,
including sardonic comments, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, modern society is in many ways reflected through the writings of the Greeks and
Romans. Studying how the writings of Aristophanes, Catullus, and Euripides approach and
describe male gender deviance yields knowledge about Greek and Roman attitudes toward gender
and the ways in which these attitudes have shaped how modern Western society views male gender
deviance. Aristophanes, the most reactionary of the three ancient authors, critiques, in various
ways, men who transgress gender boundaries, ultimately advocating for strict gender boundaries
and masculinity as a way to defend against effeminacy and other forms of moral decay in Frogs.
Catullus describes masculinity and gender deviance in a way that directly challenges gender norms,
but also defends many harmful aspects of masculinity. Lastly, Euripides explores the performance
of masculinity, the insecurities associated with those actions, and the effect of

Extraction of Chlorophyll from Spinach Leaves
2 15 11
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was to take spinach leaves and extract the chlorophyll and
carotenoid pigments by using acetone as the solvent. The chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments were
extracted by using column chromography and alumina was used as the solvent. Solvents of
different polarities were used, starting with the least polar, to extract the certain components from
the leaves. They were then analyzed by using thin layer chromatography.
Procedure:
The first part of the experiment dealt with breaking down the spinach leaves in a mortar and
pestle. Acetone was added to this to help with the breakdown of the spinach leaves. Once the
spinach leaves were broke down enough that you could see the particles ... Show more content on

The Fractal Geometry Method of English Teaching in Kazakhstan
(Inspired by Mandelbrot s Chaos Theory) Almost all the second language learners in Kazakhstan
have the same schedule every day. They go to schools or universities where lessons are held in
Russian or in Kazakh, they attend additional classes to prepare for the exams also in Russian or
may be in Kazakh sometimes, they are on the job working mainly in Russian, they go to their
English classes, may be they start speaking English a little bit, but then they go home and revert
back to their native tongue again. May be they are making slow improvements in speaking English,
but still it is not enough to be fluent in English. The biggest problem for Kazakhstan students is
that they almost never speak English in their everyday lives. They can do it only attending English
classes and only if their teacher creates such opportunity, so that students can practice oral speech.
Passive listening is okay, but interacting is even better. It is of vital importance for the teachers to
have students speak in the target languageas much as they can, stick to English. That is why
teachers of the English in Kazakhstan need practical, easy to implement, effective methods to
increase the use of the English in the classroom. One of the most effective methods for improving
speaking skills is Fractal Geometry method. The teacher provides students with How to questions
and students need to write instructions on how to perform everyday activities (How to cook

Xie states that women with children have a much smaller chance to pursue a career in
engineering. These women are less likely to receive a promotion. Gender roles in society demand
more of women in raising children. Differences in marriage and social life can be held responsible
for most of the difficulty that is placed on women in engineering. Interest in science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is thinning for women as they progress into higher levels.
Women in grades 7 12 were surveyed to see if their interest in STEM fields were diminishing.
According to Van Leuvan, this survey showed that there was a decline in interest as these girls

Evil Can Never Overcome Goodness- Illustrated in Boethius ...
In the Consolation of Philosophy, Boethius confronts his unjust imprisonment with reason to
illustrate how virtue always overcomes evil and how God as the supreme good can neither cause
nor condone wickedness.
Boethius places an increased emphasis on God s eternal goodness to prove He can neither causes
nor condone wickedness, intending to provide comfort for the virtuous affected by injustice.
Boethius s belief concerning the interaction of evil and justice in the Consolation of Philosophy
intends to comfort the virtuous from the seemingly wicked world. Lady Philosophy, representing
reason, soothes Boethius s initial concerns by explaining how evil, the absence of good, can never
defeat justice, and that the wicked will receive their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boethius also emphasizes God s eternal goodness, as Since nothing can be conceived better than
God, everyone agrees that that which has no superior is good. (pg 99) As the supreme being of
the universe, God is eternally good. His omnipresent status places him above humanity, and
beyond evil. Boethius s argument is valid because the idea of God as the ultimate good present in
a different dimension of time explains how God can see the future without interfering with free
will. Boethius s argument is interesting because it directly depends on Plato s Gorgias, illustrating
the Consolation of Philosophy s purely philosophical background. The use of reason is nuanced
because of Boethius s lack of theological leanings in the book, instead relying on its own
statements. Although Boethius may depend on Plato and Aristotle s theories, his continuation use
of reason to create the idea of Providence allows the reader greater understanding and satisfaction
than faith alone. However, because God does not interfere for the benefit of man, God seems to be
out of reach for a suffering individual. Boethius the author combats this heresy with reason, stating
that not only does the full scope of god s plans, Providence, remains incomprehensible by humans,
but that suffering can lead to renewal and actually benefits men who would have otherwise grown

The Second Estate Formed A Chaotic State
France in 1793, was in a chaotic state. The masses of people that went against the aristocrats had
enough of the old policies. The civilians expressed their laws and policies during the early days of
Republicanism . Thus, the Third Estate embodied the enlightened principles of equality, liberty, and
fraternity . The Third Estate formed a National Conventionand prevailed with radical ideologies.
The Third Estate wanted these laws so desperately that they relied on the corrupt Committee of
Public Safetyto generate terror upon the opposing forces in France, in order to establish the new
laws and policies. France was suffocating. The country didn t have enough funds or food to
sustain the population. So the elites stayed wealthy and fed; only by shunning the rest of France.
The people had grown tired of the mistreatment placed upon them. Simultaneously, the radical

named Jaques Roux expressed his frustrations, The Republic is but an empty illusion when the
counterrevolution takes place daily because three quarters of the citizenry cannot afford the price

necessities consumed because of the revolution. The Republic need the people in order for them to

would they have to worry about if they made their conversion correctly, or what system they

that Americans are lazy and arrogant. When looking at the reasons why SI is not in effect in the

At first glance, one may think Haemon s initial decision is based on his love for his father,
however, it becomes apparent that his decision was based on his need to honor his father by
showing his loyalty to Creon s decision. Haemon illustrates this necessity to honor his father
when he says, No marriage will ever be more important to me than justly carrying out your

The Arrival Of The Future
The Arrival of the Future
Is the beginning the end? This is how Denis Villeneuve, director of Arrival, decided to begin the
Oscar nominated film. With nonlinear timeline at the focus of the film, this controversial style
illustrates violence between characters, specifically Louise, shows the tool given to humanity by
the Heptapods, and the relationship of the characters.
Erik Bork, an Emmy and Golden Globe winning author for HBO, states that Jumping around in time
with flashbacks can be confusing in a script, and can make it hard for a reader to get oriented and
settle into one particular story, in a specific time frame (Bork, par. 1). He continues to explain, It s
usually better to just have one, at most, and have the rest of the movie take place in what seems like
continuous present time (Bork, par. 9). Many critics would agree with Bork, siding with his belief
in the confusing nature of flashbacks.
However, Arrival s use of a nonlinear timeline is vital to the story of the film. the Heptapods give
Louise the ability to see time in a nonlinear fashion. There is no other way the writers of Arrival
could have conveyed her newfound ability. Her ability to perceive future events is evident while
Louise is talking to the Prime Minister of China, a militant character, by saying to him in the
present what she sees herself being reminded of in her flashforward at a peace gathering. This
climatic moment is relieved by Louise s ability. This scene is difficult to show in word,

GENERAL PURPOSE: To inform
SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To inform my audience about what it means to be a vegan
THESIS: To inform my audience that veganism cannot be simply distinguished through one single
characterization, it is a dietary choice, a belief, a compassion that is a catalyst for one s self,

I.INTRODUCTION
i.A vegan in the U.S. saves 198 animals per year from cruelty, however, that is a very small
number compared to the 7, 353, 336, 300 animals slaughtered in the U.S. in one year alone.

B.Vegans are not relative to one belief, many people around the world and many people around

C.The history of veganism is one of ancient philosophies, there have always been some people

Hypothyroidism And Thyroid Similarities
The thyroid gland is located in the lower front part of your neck. In this gland, hormones are
release that travel through the bloodstream which affect almost every part of the body all the way
from the heart, brain and muscles to the skin. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are two
diseases associated with the thyroid. These two diseases are both related to the thyroid but affect the
body in different ways.
Hypothyroidism, is when your thyroid isn t making enough thyroid hormone. This is also called
underactive thyroid disease. A low level of thyroid hormones can affect the entire body. This
butterfly shaped gland called the thyroid is located in the front of your neck. Did you know that the
thyroid makes hormones that control the way your

The Pros And Cons Of Inclusion
Inclusion has become the primary service delivery model for students with disabilities.
Politicians, law makers and education lobbyists continue to put academic pressures on schools
and teachers while the topic of inclusion continues to be one of the most debated topics in
education (Cooper Tompkins, 1993). The Education for All handicapped Children Act (EAHCA)
in 1975 (P.L. 94 142), No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 (2002), the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) of 2004 (P.L. 108 446) have thoroughly laid out
the rules and regulations for education (Mackey, 2012). The main objective of the EAHCA was to
guarantee educational equity and remove the segregated classrooms many children with disabilities

Ralph Ellison Invisible Man
Ralph Ellison s short excerpt from Invisible Man, is about an unnamed high school graduate, who
is haunted by his grandfather s last words, Live with your head in the lion s mouth, I want you to
overcome em with yesses, undermine em with grins, agree em to death and destruction, let em
swoller you till they vomit or bust wide open (Ellison). The unnamed graduate realizing he is an
invisible mandue to his skin color. Even though he has achieved a high schooleducation and slavery
was no longer a problem, he felt as though people still looked right through him. So, when his
grandfather was on his deathbed, those last few words kept haunting the young manleaving him
confused on how to make life decisions. He still remained an intelligent, brave young man despite
being naГЇve and weak. The unnamed teen shows his confusion right when his grandfather had
died. He did not know how to comprehend what he heard and how to live by it. He did not like
how it remained an unanswered puzzle in the back of his mind (Ellison). The unnamed teen was
living as he should, abiding why the white folks and listening to what they had to say, yet at the
same time, he felt as though he was going against his grandfather s wishes. This is why he is left
confused throughout his life. He also mentions, And whenever things went well for me, I
remembered my grandfather and felt guilty and uncomfortable (Ellison). A reason why he seemed
to be in distraught over his grandfather s words was because

Racism Today in the United States
Racism Today in the United States After living in a place like Bend Oregon for 18 years I haven
t ever noticed a difference between blacks and whites. Bend has been said to be one of the
whitest places to live , yet I never viewed a city by its race. Being racist to me meant that it was
the whites who had a problem with the blacks and whites didn t want anything to do with blacks. I
hadn t actually seen racismin action from anyone here. Now, after watching the film Crash and
reading the essays Blinded by the White: Crime, Raceand Denial at Columbine High written by Tim
Wise and White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack written by McIntosh, my
understanding of race, diversity, and communications have changed.
Racism, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s almost as if racism is becoming a huge excuse for problems that are happening in this world.
Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a
particular race is superior to others (Dictionary). I never viewed racism as blaming things on skin
color but that s what it is. Racism is based on a skin color and culture, not on school shootings and
world events. To say that two African Americanteens organized a school shooting because all the
people in his school were being racist towards him and everyone noticed those racist acts that
would make sense. To say that when two white teens started acting differently and everyone still
saw them as normal would have been caught if they were black, doesn t make sense. Those teens,
whether their skin color was black or white, still would have been viewed as teens just going
through a phase .
With the stereotype that teenagers fall into no matter what their skin color, people will jump to
conclusions and suspect them of something. When it comes to that particular age group they are in
the process of trying to find who they really are, all teens start acting differently. They go through
these phases trying to find which phase or lifestyle fits who they feel they truly

Intersection Literature Review
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
2.1Unsignalized Intersection
Types According to Control
Uncontrolled. Uncontrolled intersection is an intersection that is not controlled by any regulatory
sign or traffic signal from any direction. However, this type of intersection requires the drivers to
yield to any vehicle or pedestrian that is already passing or crossing the road. This type of
unsignalized intersection is created for low volume roads, usually in rural or residential areas (ITE,
2005).
Figure 2 1. Uncontrolled Intersection.
Source: ITE, 2005.
YIELD sign controlled. YIELD sign controlled are intersections controlled only by YIELD signs.
YIELD signs are placed at the entrance of the intersection, usually on minor roads, and are installed
on ramp intersections or Y intersections. YIELD signs require the drivers to reduce the speed of
their vehicles as they pass the intersection (ITE, 2005).

STOP sign controlled. STOP sign controlled intersections are controlled by STOP signs from one
or more directions. STOP signs require full stop of vehicles upon reaching the entrance of the
intersection and they can proceed only if no vehicles are passing from the other directions. This
type of unsignalized intersection can be further categorized into minor road only stop control and
multi way stop control. Minor road only control intersections require at least one direction
controlled by a STOP sign and

Du Dubois Legacy
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was one of the most influential figures in civil rights history,
but even outside of civil rights he was a loving and caring man, He started the activist Niagara
Movement in 1905 and then cofounded the NAACP in 1909. A powerful intellect, Du Bois would
become the first person who was African Americanto earn a PhD from Harvard and was a professor
of history, sociology, and economics at Atlanta University. Du Bois made significant contributions
to the world and opened minds throughout the world, later changing the world forever.
Du Bois decided to move away from religion during his college years and described himself as a
freethinker throughout his life. He was a smart man who used science and education ... Show more

from Fisk in 1888, Du Bois enrolled at Harvard University, where he used his full potential as a
student. He became acquainted with some of the leading intellectuals of the day, including
William James, George Palmer, George Santayana, and Albert Bushnell Hart, and was encouraged
to direct his studies toward history and the social sciences. At his Harvard commencement in
1890, he was one of five students selected to deliver an address. Du Bois s speech on Confederate
president Jefferson Davis and the issue of slavery in the United States gained him national
attention, including a prominent review in the Nation. Graduating with a major in philosophy,
Du Bois was accepted into graduate school in political science as Harvard s Henry Bromfield
Rogers Fellow and began work on Civil Rights for African Americans.. After being awarded his
master s degree in 1891, he received a Slater Fund grant, which allowed him to study and travel
overseas from 1892 to 1894. Du Bois studied history, economics, politics, and political economy at
the University of Berlin and completed a thesis on agricultural economics in the American South.
Though DuBois achieved many things through out his long lived life some would argue that he
wasn t successful enough or a good leader because asue he was a man of color. Many believed
that Dubois couldn t possibly be an effective leader because he was black but he actually proved
that wrong through his achievements of graduating from Harvard and Founding the NAACP.
Dubois was a smart man who didn t let these words get to

Personal Biases Essay
Personal Bias and How It Can Impact the Therapeutic Relationship When I started thinking
critically about this assignment, I realized that I was stuck. I couldn t think of a single bias that I
could possibly have against someone but then it donned on me that I would have to go deeper
and understand that biases can come in many different forms. And since I am not a professional
therefore have never provided therapy to someone on a professional level, I am virtually unaware
of what my potential biases are. So to solve this problem, I decided to think about my personal
experiences and document the ones that caused me to have any sort of negative emotions about.
The main bias I thought about was alcohol abuse. I have dealt personally with this... Show more

When I was a sophomore my mother was diagnosed with cancer and as a result, I have spent
most of my college career dealing emotional with the result. She is free of disease as of right
now but it was a long and tumultuous journey to get there. I practically spent 2 years without a
mother because she was so sick and I had to take her role. I organized family events, cooked
them meals when I could, did their shopping all while going to school three hours away and
having constant fear that my mother and the love of my life was going to die. That is only my
personal struggle with it, not even taking into account her trauma or my fathers or brothers. It
almost seems selfish to reflect on this because it was nothing compared to what she was going
through. I went through stages where I was horrified and so scared and then I was angry and
selfish. I wanted my mother back, I wanted her to make me dinner when I came home from
college and send me care packages again. I wanted her to go shopping every weekend like she used
to and spend money on things that weren t hospital bills. I wanted to call her and hear
something other than how she couldn t get chemotherapy that week because she was so weak and
was rushed to the hospital for a blood transfusion. I was tired of talking to people about it and
people asking if I was okay. I felt like a broken record, Yes, I m okay. Yes, school is

Life is briefFall in love, maidens

Fades from your lips Racing the marathon of life, have you ever taken a moment s break and
looked back, asking yourself Have I ever been living my life? The middle aged Watanabe realizes
that he had not been living at all, when he is diagnosed with gastric cancer. For the past thirty
years, he lived as dead as the rubber stamps in his monotonous bureaucratic office, which he
stamped and stamped on the thousand immobile piles of files.
He tries to share his pain with his son and daughter in law but sooner realizes they are more
interested in his insurance and pensions. Later in a bar, he tears his tales apart afore a stranger
and spreads a chunk of his years earnings on the table. The stranger, an eccentric writer takes
Watanabe to the intoxicated nightlife of Tokyo, to bars, cabarets, red lit areas, games. Watanabe

The old man s movie inspires to live young unlike any other work of art timelessly. Ikiru
deconstructs the prejudice of Youth being happy v/s middle age being doomed. Takashi Shimura
stars as Kanji Watanabe and its inevitable to mention, the eternal expression of gravity he wears
throughout the story. The plot is portrayed non linear and doesn t end with Watanabe s death as
an usual audience may expect to, in lieu Kurosawa tells us that what signifies is the souvenirs of
life left on earth and not the tail of the tale. Ikiru adds a new meaning to finding meaning in life as
Watanabe is uninterested in praise and fame, but tranquility of one s own. He gladdens in being
loved by the least significant lay persons around and singing an old melody of love. Thus Ikiru

Transforming Species Into Molecular Biology
Transforming Species into Molecular Biology Between 1850 and 1950, the definition of what
science was and what it could become radically changed through means of breakthrough theories,
ideas and experimentations from scientists exploring the realms outside of the traditional religious
views. The method of how science was conducted drastically altered as well. The development of
new technologies allowed scientists to step away from simple observation, towards more
sophisticated and complex research. Through those influential hundred years, one question
remained, what is life? And how do we appropriately characterize it? Because of this, three of
sciences revolutionary icons approached their respective inquiries in different manners. All three
men used outside correspondences with their peers to help them develop their own assumptions and
eventually revolutionizing the concept of science. Watson and Crick s work, along with Darwin s
represent some of the greatest alterations of scientific thought and development of current common
beliefs. In this disquisition, I will provide a brief biography of these men as well as their respective
influences and the types of methods they used to create their deep seated ideas. For example,
Darwin found inspiration from previous scientists such as Linnaeus, Buffon, Malthus, Cuvier, and
Lyell. men. These helped shape how Darwin thoughtfully and deeply observed the environment.
Watson and Crick also compounded data from vying peers, such

(Sandra Cisneros, About Sandra Cisneros) Although Cisneros had grown up mainly in Chicago, her family often visited her relatives in Mexico. As one reads on they realize that the subject got put in prison for his actions and began to realize who he wanted to be. He began to imagine his life differently as a cloud. And his imagination began to take control of him and all those condemned to death and those condemned to life watched how smooth and sweet a white cloud glides. (Cisneros, 72). • 4. The Importance Of Censorship Content On The Internet With the rise of the Internet, it has given everyone opportunities to stay better connected in the world today and to be entertained. This has led to the creation of sites like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, Google, and so many more. A lot of big companies have implemented the internet, making them more successful and giving them a wider reach for business. With all this freedom, however, this leads to inappropriate content being on the internet as well. There is an abundance of violent and sexual content on the internet just like with older media, like movies and music. The difference is that this unsuitable content is more accessible than before the invention of the internet. This has caused discussion about whether or not the internet should be censored, and if so, to what extent. While it is understandable why people do not want inappropriate content around them in a more accessible way, allowing the bad content lets the good content be just as accessible as well. The Internet should not be censored for violent and sexual content because this silences voices that have the right to be heard and slows creativity and originality in art and entertainment. Additionally, silencing freedom of speechtakes voices away from the people and gives it to the richest and powerful. Censoring the Internet would be taking away freedom of speech for the average internet user. The largest internet censorship system is in China, which censors anything harmless to the Chinese Communist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Lost Of Motion And Lost In Motion When it comes to speaking or performing in front of an audience, everyone has their own ways of handling the situation, even if they don t have a fear of a big audience. Some people imagine their audience naked and some imagine themselves somewhere else. This trick to performing is expressed in both Lost in Motion and Lost in Motion 2 These short films depict two professional dancers performing breath taking moves, all while in perfect elegance. These two short films have both similarities and differences. The comparison of these films can be best categorized by its setting, its mood, and its music As stated in the introduction, both people in the Lost in Motion videos are both professional dancers. When the two dance, they seem to be alone in their thoughts. In Lost in Motion , the male dancer is performing his routine backstage behind the curtain, he is alone both in his mind and outside of it as well. The area where he is dancing is pitch black with blue lines complementing each strong movement. After he finishes his routine, he proceeds to enter onto the stage in front of the audience. In Lost in Motion 2 , the female dancer is performing in front of a live audience, however in her mind she is alone. In her mind, she is dancing on a giant floating rock structure in an ominous place filled with storms. While in this place, she dances on the edge, fearlessly. After her performance, she then proceeds to enter backstage. The settings of both short films contribute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dating back to the 17th and 18th century authors, like Moliere and Voltaire, often express their views on social issues with an outstanding play. Tartuffe, Moliere s play, and Candide, Voltaire s play, both deal with the issue of religion in society. Tartuffe is written as a comedy in which satirizes religious hypocrisy. It was wrote it about the views of the bourgeois class towards religion in France. Almost a century later, Voltaire writes Candide a satirical tale which condemns the clergy s hypocrisy in 18th century Europe. • 7. A Framework For The Data Collection And Its Analysis Essay . A framework for the data collection and its analysis has been recognised in order to answer the research questions, as well as to achieve the targeted objectives by validating certain methods of sourcing, collecting and analysing the data (Saunders Thornhill, 2012). The study on the basis of the literature has shown that the research goals would be achieved more efficiently with the quantitative method. Whereas, the literature reviewed has revealed an objective need for numeric data that is necessary in a greater extent due to its absence, rather than non numeric data. The quantitative method allows to assess the influence of the identified factors by the end user, which haspermitted to build a consumer behaviour model. Ultimately, the variables were identified on the basis of the literature studied. 3.2 Research philosophy and approach The aims and objectives were fulfilled in order to develop a research philosophy. We may define it as an over arching term relating to the development of knowledge and the nature of that knowledge (Saunders Thornhill, 2012). A deductive approach has been used for the research. This was done due to the fact that the theoretical framework has been defined in advanced, which was followed by testing the previously outlined theories.(Saunders Thornhill, 2012)Additionally, Positivism has been selected as a Philosophy for the following study, as it allowed the author to research and assess the situation on the basis of objective data ... You are probably asking yourself at this point how a country s waste can have any importance at all in its consumer culture. Waste is one output every company, no matter its size, must be concerned with. With the ever present climate problems our society faces, proper disposal of wasteis a necessity. Luckily for companies in the US, they have found a way to capitalize through strategic marketing and planned obsolescence. Yet, unfortunately for consumers, they are often taken advantage of without knowledge of the occurrence. The true American view on consumerism, where products are bought with a short term... Consumers have the opportunity to make conscious decisions to help our environment, but the reality behind products is well hidden and needs to be brought to higher attention. Waste epitomizes the American consumer culture to continuously buy new products, and not think about the harm it is causing the environment. Recycling has evolved over time into a ploy to make consumers spend more money, and is causing more harm to the environment by increasing the amount of packaging used over product. • 9. Comparing Inequality In Eve And Samson Agonist By... Inequality is a struggle that women have felt since the beginning of time, and an issue that still plagues women today. Women are consistently reduced to their looks or the tasks they are able to complete, and often their intellect and talents are ignored. Milton grapples the topic in both of his works, Paradise Lost with Adam and Eve, and Samson Agonists with Samson and Dalila. Both Eve and Dalila are presented as unequal characters when compared to Adam and Samson, making them both more susceptible to the advances of evil forces. Each womanindividually faces temptation and fails to supersede it, causing not only the fall for themselves, but the fall for their husbands as well. For Eve, her fall fates not only Adam but the entire humanity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Milton situated the woman as equal to their husbands and as helpmates instead of companions then the likelihood of them falling would have decreased greatly. However, because of their inequality it opened sin up to being a viable temptation. Milton had to present them as unequal beings to be able to justify their fall and in return ultimately place the blame on God as a whole. Milton s central theme seems to suggest that if God would have just created men and women equal to begin with then they would not have fallen. This is easily seen in Paradise Lost, but when examining Samson Agonists, it is evident there as well, since Dalila is part of the Philistinians, a race that God sent Samson to destroy, making them unequal. Therefore, it can be assumed that Milton presents Eve and Dalila the way he does in order to justify the fall and attempt to make sense of why humanity had to fall even though it was created by an omnipotent ... • 10. Money Is Not The Answer Evan Zhang Trachtman Honors English 9 2 March 2016 Money Is Not the Answer Today, the world constantly revolves around money. The endless cycle of working for money, saving money, and spending money has become an almost mandatory aspect of life. One can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing an advertisement endorsing the purchase of a particular item. These are signs that greed has become more and more present in contemporary society. It is commonly observed that the more money someone possesses, the more they want to obtain. They tend to become greedier and greedier, until they reach an ultimate point where there is complete disregard for others in their pursuit a solution to their problems through wealth. Dickens saw this trend very clearly, and manipulated different characters in Great Expectations, such as Joe and Miss Havisham, to show the theme that money is not what defines a person, but rather, true inner wealth is calculated by a person s actions and relationship to others. Dickens uses the character of Joe to express the theme of true worth. It is seen repeatedly that Joe has a hugely caring attitude towards others, no matter who they are or what they do. Joe embodies the idea of true inner value in his actions and relationships to others. This occurs before Pip has received his expectations, where Joe sympathises with Pip when others abuse him. Yet, nothing is done to counteract the emotional damages done to people, Approximately 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies and resort to dieting to achieve their ideal body shape. Unfortunately, only 5% of women naturally possess the body type often portrayed by Americans in the media (11 Facts 1). The media will continue to keep the same body style in their magazines and movie. This poses a very important problem, how can people who deal with kids teach them that appearances are not as important as what is in their brains? Educators and parents need to know how to help kids cope with their emotional issues and teach them what is really important. Parents should teach kids strong morals and help them avoid overexposure to the media while educators should teach kids how to live a healthy lifestyle. The Bill of Rights and Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen are based on the same principles of natural rights; therefore each document is similar in protecting the people s natural rights. However, despite their similarities, their differences are apparent due to the social situations in which they were adopted. The Bill of Rights stood to protect the freedoms of each individual by establishing a democratic government. The French Revolution eliminated the hierarchy of class and established equality among men with the Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen. The Declarations of Rights of Man and Citizen differ to the Bill of Rights because of the different social and economic institutions. The Bills Of Rights protect citizens through the security of the government. The ten amendments don t directly address the rights of individuals, instead allow the government to enforce them, such as; congress will make no law inflicting rights of speech, press, and religion. These are objectives of the government to keep in tact, not necessary a right upon an individual. However, in the Rights of Man and Citizen it addresses the individual and their equality before the law. In article four it announces that liberty is based on the individual not to harm another. Thus, has no limits but the law will determine the limits. In article one it states, Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. 4 The diction in the Declaration gives the impression of the equality among individuals first, than law will follow. It contrasts to the Bill of Rights; which established a government for law, to protect the rights of individuals. Megan s Law Case Study Jennifer, I enjoyed reading your post, especially when you mention employers hiring sex offenders taking opposing employment action against that employee based on the sex offender status. He was kicked out of his house; therefore, he filed a lawsuit regarding his right to live in the duplex and have his own children visit. Nashville Criminal Court Judge Seth Norman ruled in 2013 that the law s ban on residing with a minor did not include the duplex living arrangement nor overnight visits. (Barchenger, 2016) However, the lawsuit challenges the retroactive application of the sex offender registry laws, including those restrictions on contact with children, work, and residency. • 21. Gender Deviance In Aristophanes, Catullus, And Euripides How Aristophanes, Catullus, and Euripides Viewed Male Gender Deviance and Their Parallels in Modern Society One modern issue related to gender and sexuality that has roots in ancient cultures is the transgression of gender boundaries, specifically by male individuals. The idea of gender transgression by males is broad; it can include failing to perform one or more aspects of masculinity or, as is more common in modern settings, failing to identify oneself with masculinity at all, even identifying as a woman or some other gender identity. Gender deviance was taboo in ancient Greece and Rome, with certain actions, e.g., consenting to being penetrated, resulting in the loss of the man s citizenship and exile from the community. Studying how the writings of Aristophanes, Catullus, and Euripides approach and describe male gender deviance yields knowledge about Greek and Roman attitudes toward gender and the ways in which these attitudes have shaped how modern Western society views male gender deviance. Aristophanes, the most reactionary of the three ancient authors, critiques, in various ways, men who transgress gender boundaries, ultimately advocating for strict gender boundaries and masculinity as a way to defend against effeminacy and other forms of moral decay in Frogs. Catullus describes masculinity and gender deviance in a way that directly challenges gender norms, but also defends many harmful aspects of masculinity. (pg 99) As the supreme being of the universe, God is eternally good. His omnipresent status places him above humanity, and beyond evil. Boethius s argument is valid because the idea of God as the ultimate good present in a different dimension of time explains how God can see the future without interfering with free will. Boethius s argument is interesting because it directly depends on Plato s Gorgias, illustrating the Consolation of Philosophy s purely philosophical background. The use of reason is nuanced because of Boethius s lack of theological leanings in the book, instead relying on its own statements. Although Boethius may depend on Plato and Aristotle s theories, his continuation use of reason to create the idea of Providence allows the reader greater understanding and satisfaction than faith alone. However, because God does not interfere for the benefit of man, God seems to be out of reach for a suffering individual. • 38. The Arrival Of The Future The Arrival of the Future Is the beginning the end? This is how Denis Villeneuve, director of Arrival, decided to begin the Oscar nominated film. With nonlinear timeline at the focus of the film, this controversial style illustrates violence between characters, specifically Louise, shows the tool given to humanity by the Heptapods, and the relationship of the characters. Erik Bork, an Emmy and Golden Globe winning author for HBO, states that Jumping around in time with flashbacks can be confusing in a script, and can make it hard for a reader to get oriented and settle into one particular story, in a specific time frame (Bork, par. 1). He continues to explain, It s usually better to just have one, at most, and have the rest of the movie take place in what seems like continuous present time (Bork, par. 9). Many critics would agree with Bork, siding with his belief in the confusing nature of flashbacks. However, Arrival s use of a nonlinear timeline is vital to the story of the film. the Heptapods give Louise the ability to see time in a nonlinear fashion. There is no other way the writers of Arrival could have conveyed her newfound ability. Her ability to perceive future events is evident while Louise is talking to the Prime Minister of China, a militant character, by saying to him in the present what she sees herself being reminded of in her flashforward at a peace gathering. This climatic moment is relieved by Louise s ability. This scene is difficult to show in word, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bend has been said to be one of the whitest places to live , yet I never viewed a city by its race. Being racist to me meant that it was the whites who had a problem with the blacks and whites didn t want anything to do with blacks. I hadn t actually seen racismin action from anyone here. Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others (Dictionary). I never viewed racism as blaming things on skin color but that s what it is. Racism is based on a skin color and culture, not on school shootings and world events. To say that two African Americanteens organized a school shooting because all the people in his school were being racist towards him and everyone noticed those racist acts that would make sense. To say that when two white teens started acting differently and everyone still saw them as normal would have been caught if they were black, doesn t make sense. Those teens, whether their skin color was black or white, still would have been viewed as teens just going through a phase . With the stereotype that teenagers fall into no matter what their skin color, people will jump to conclusions and suspect them of something. When it comes to that particular age group they are in the process of trying to find who they really are, all teens start acting differently. They go through these phases trying to find which phase or lifestyle fits who they feel they truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Transforming Species Into Molecular Biology Transforming Species into Molecular Biology Between 1850 and 1950, the definition of what science was and what it could become radically changed through means of breakthrough theories, ideas and experimentations from scientists exploring the realms outside of the traditional religious views. The method of how science was conducted drastically altered as well. The development of new technologies allowed scientists to step away from simple observation, towards more sophisticated and complex research. Through those influential hundred years, one question remained, what is life? And how do we appropriately characterize it? Because of this, three of sciences revolutionary icons approached their respective inquiries in different manners. All three men used outside correspondences with their peers to help them develop their own assumptions and eventually revolutionizing the concept of science.
