Designing A Framework For Diagnosing Industry Structure
MACOM is headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, they sell and distribute products globally for
networking. They use semiconductor technologies for optical, wireless, and satellite networks.
Their products power infrastructure to increase speed and coverage of the mobile internet.
MACOM as sixty years of hands on experience, designing and building technologies from radio
frequency to light spectrum (MACOM, 2016). Michael Porter formed a basis that consists of five
forces of competition. These five forces are meant to be a framework for diagnosing industry
structure. Essentially, the idea is to explain the sustainability of profits against bargaining, and
direct and indirect competition. The five forces that shape the strategy are,... Show more content on

Rivalry among competitors relates to the threat of other like businesses. The more competitors that
have like products will determines the power of the company. Buyers are likely to shop around to
rival competitors if they cannot receive the deal they are looking for, and likewise suppliers look
for the company that will pay them the most for their products or services (Investopedia, 2016).
MACOM has three major competitors, Ciao Wireless, Satellink Inc., and Digi Key Corporation.
Ciao Wireless designs and manufactures radio frequency (RF) and Microwave Amplifiers for
Defense and Commercial Industries (MediaBrains, 2016). Their experience outnumbers MACOM
by more than 400 years (creating a better brand identity), and they offer custom designs with
delivery options. Satellink Inc supports manufacturing of electronics for aerospace,
telecommunications, and radar industries (MediaBrains, 2016). MACOM also supports the
aerospace industry along with other telecommunications to delivery information globally, but
Satellite keeps an inventory of essential parts for rapid turnaround. This feature can help with fixed
costs adding value to the customer. Digi Key Corporation is a billion dollar company that provides
electronic components for delivery worldwide. They stock more than 500,000 products, and they

How Do Volcanoes Affect People
As you read these words, twenty volcanoes are erupting. Twenty of these petite, or mammoth like
beast that unearth magma are going off as you read these words! How are these erupting
volcanoes affecting the people and environment around it? Well to begin, volcanoes have provided
us with rich soils that allow the people of the area to grow crops, also allowing other plants to
naturally grow nice and vigorous. Another stirring question is How do volcanoes affect people?
Going into more detail, volcanoes have provided us with rich soil! When a volcano erupts, in the
process it gargles out rock and ash. This rock and ash the volcano spits out is filled with rich
minerals, but right away these minerals are not useful for plants. Depending on

Using Alternative Fuels For Cars
There are many different types of alternate fuels for cars at our disposal, such as Ethanol, Natural
Gas, Electricity, and Hydrogen Fuels. We can use these fuels instead of normal gasoline fuels
that pollute our air and contribute to destroying our environment. Many of these alternative fuels
may be less convenient to use, because they are less accessible. However, if people decide to use
these fuels then they can make our world a green friendly world. There this a ton of upside to
using alternative fuels, according to Larry West s article on the top eight alternative fuels, as they
can help nations become more energy independent. In addition, there are several downsides or
challenges associated with alternative fuels for cars, such as... Show more content on

At its low price it s much more affordable then most fuels making it a good option. There a lot of
positive sides to using ethanol but there an also a few negative things it can produce when used or
even made.
Ethanol is a good alternative fuel but there is negative things that come with it. Ethanol requires a
bunch of corn, barley, and wheat to make (Meyers, 2014). Which in turn could be used to feed
starving people all over the world. Using corn, barley, and wheat hinders food availability and
even the prices of the food. The new York times has stated that using ethanol actually decreases gas
mileage. Ethanol gives you 2 3 miles less than normal gasoline (West, 2014). Ethanol can also
break down faster than normal gasoline. Meaning that ethanol can cause rust of the car engine.
Making ethanol can actually pollute the air a bunch because of all the gasoline it requires to power
the tractors and machines that gather the required material to make it. Ethanol has negative impacts
on our environment but overall it has more positives then negatives and makes a good alternative
fuel.
Natural Gas is another alternative fuel option that has a bunch of positive sides to it. Using natural
gas produces lower negative emissions that pollute the air. Natural gas produces less smog then
your normal gasoline that everyone uses. Natural gas is helping America as a nation to use clean
environmental friendly energy sources. Using natural gas can reduce the probability of

The Creature Of The Beast
In France in the late 1760 s, there was an atrocity that involved around one hundred animal attack
deaths caused by one creature, the infamous Beast of Gevaudan. Per Jaime Hill, the beast was
the size of a horse and looked like a bear, hyena, wolf, and panther hybrid. It had a long wolf or pig
like snout. Many researchers believed there were at least two, or more than two, beasts roaming
the area. The color of the beast changed every time the beast was spotted; it would go from red to
red with grey and white patches to red with stripes. Sometimes there would even be no red, it may
just be black or white. Locals believed it to be a werewolf, or a sorcerer who shapeshifted into a
monstrous predator to feed on human flesh. The beast was also... Show more content on

June of 1767, a man said the beast could be killed, that he had found a way. He said he needed a
holy bullet made of silver, blessed by a holy man. He takes the ammunition into the forest and
arrives back to the village with a wolf. Villagers agree it is the beast and no beast is spotted
afterwards. In 2000, historians notice things do not add up; a wolf cannot remove someone s
clothes. In 2011, researchers concluded that Jean trained the wolf, killed the people, and then
killed the wolf to make it look like a beast. Still to this day, no one knows for sure what happened (
Mysteries at the Museum n.p.).
Per World of Mythology, the attacks of the beast started in 1764. People all around hunted every
wolf they could find, hoping it would be the beast, but the attacks continued. In 1765, Francois
Antoine killed a large grey wolf, but the attacks continued Also in 1765, a doctor came across a
man in a wolf suit assaulting a woman and killed him but the attacks still went on. Finally, a man
by the name Jean Chastel discovered that if a silver bullet is blessed by a church, it could kill the
beast. Chastel got three silver bullets blessed by the local church and went into the woods,
returning with a dead wolf. This was the final attack on a wolf by the time the attacks stopped.
Chastel said he went into the woods and found the giant wolf. He was the size of a horse and

Evil s Impact Throughout British Literature

Evil s Impact throughout British Literature British literature has had many influences throughout its
evolution, none more than the theme of evil. As far British literature traces, there has always been
tales good versus bad. Tales of hero s tragically fighting ungodly creatures, or monstrous humans all
have a common theme associated with them, evil. The three theories of evil that coincide with the
literature more than any other belong to Friedrich Nietzche, Jean Jaques Rousseau, and C Fred
Alford. Perspective, influence, and spreading plague are the three unique philosophies that present
themselves as evil throughout British Literature. The beginnings of the literature predates the
above mentioned philosophers. However, the all made assumptions the follow the literary works.

unspeakable acts against his king. It is after this that Macbeth, turns to the dark side. The rest of

of good fighting evil. Each of those times, evil plays into one of the theories listed above.

The Roles Of Emma s Emma And Her Father
Emma and her father
Mr. Woodhouse is a sickly person whose main concern is his ill health a nervous man, easily
depressed (5). While we are told that Emma dearly loved her father, he also was no companion for
her. He could not meet her in conversation, rational or playful (24). Mr. Woodhouse demonstrates
excessive hypochondria and a constant demand for attention that are provided unflaggingly by
Emma; In a striking reversal, she functions as his parent, caring for his needs and guiding him with
her superior understanding and emotional strength. Though much older than his daughter, Mr.
Woodhouse cannot provide her with the figure of authority, wisdom, and strength. Instead, he looks
to her for leadership and comfort. Consequently, Emma infantilizes the old man, she forever shields
her father against critique and thereby sustains his dependence. In return, Mr. Woodhouse heralds

Mr. Knightley says to Mrs. Weston: ever since she was twelve, Emma has been mistress of the
house and of you all. In her mother she lost the only person able to cope with her. She inherits her
mother s talents, and must have been under subjection to her (48). Emma then is linked to her
mother as similar in temperament and talent and, presumably, in her capacity to control Mr.
Woodhouse. With the mother gone, a force of subjection, and with very little evidence to suggest
this absence as in any way traumatic to Emma. Emma s intellect and sagaciousness allow her
control of the estate, free of any rivals from within the family, and now embodies the location of
phallic signification. This authority extends beyond the household, however, because Hartfield
itself is already acknowledged by the community as the first in consequence (25). Emma s situation
allows for the Oedipal dynamic to be symbolically gratified while simultaneously giving her
preeminent status in the community.

My Papa Knultz Analysis
Battered Knuckles While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred
passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax,
and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz
to reflect back to his sentimental memories with his father. In brief, Roethke leaves the audience
with an unclear understanding of what the meaning of the poem is. In discussions of My Papa s
Waltz, one controversial issue is the father casually plays with the son. On the other hand, some
readers argue that the father is abusing his son straightforwardly. However, after contemplating
the context of the poem and gathering information from the text, it has become undeniably clear
that the poem is about the father abusing his son. Ultimately, Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to
illustrate a picture of his nostalgic remembrance for the readers. The authors controversial poem
becomes clear when one carefully examines the context of the poem. In stanza one, line one,
Roethke describes the papa in the poem as having whiskey on [his] breath. This line illuminates
the idea of the father being intoxicated; hence, can lead to a change in behavior. Further, the
change in behavior can be the cause of violence towards the child in the poem. Coincidentally,
Roethke s father dies in 1923 at the age of 52; thirty eight years later Roethke writes My Papa s
Waltz, roughly at 52 years of age. The

Romeo And Juliet s Death Essay
Romeo and Juliet is a story that takes place in a small town in Italy named Verona. In this story,
Romeo and Juliet s families constantly fight with each other. Romeo accidentally gets invited to
a Capulet party and attends it in hopes of seeing his love, Rosaline. Instead, Romeo goes and
spots Juliet and forgets about Rosaline and falls in love with how beautiful Juliet was. I believe
fate is what caused Romeo and Juliet s death. I believe this because it was fate the way Romeo
was drawn to Juliet, it was fate how they fell in love on rival sides of the family, and it was fate
that Romeo got invited to that party. First, I think it was fate that caused Romeo and Juliet s
death because of the way Romeo was drawn to Juliet the first time he saw her. I think this because

told that his father had a Chrysanthemum tattooed on his arm. Muna sets out to find his father
after only knowing this little information about him. Muna was also told that his father was a

The novel portrays the feudal system of Japan by giving details of how the feudal structure is
formed during this time and gives a lot of information on people that ruled during that time. The
novel goes into detail about how lords rule Japan and how owning land is how people had power
in Japan back then. The novel also accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the
lords of the lands and the clans that are loyal to them. The novel goes into detail about Lord
Kiyomori fighting off the invasion of the Genji with Yoshitomo as their leader. The Sign Of The
Chrysanthemum also manages to accurately depict the events of this battle between Lord Kiyomori
and the Taira against the Yoshitomoand the Genji. This battle was a bloody one, which put Taria in
control of the country, but actually does not resolve the conflict between the clans. In this novel
Paterson writes about a boy that grows up into a man through his experiences in the city, but still
manages to take the time period in Japan and imply these situations into his life. The use of the
feudal structure and military historical context is the reason why this novel accurately portrays this

on the history of the United Statesand Mexico. Looking deeper into this topic one is able to
discover Michael C. White s testimony as a Mexican citizen of Anglo descent fighting for the
United States. An important document that changed the course of history was the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo. This document was an agreement between Mexico and the United States
and whose certain provisions were then violated by the latter country. According to the Pio Pico
official website, he was a victim of such practices as he went from being a prominent figure in
society to dying a poor man. A few years after these events, according to the article Crime and

19th century proved to be a timeframe of big change for Los Angeles. It saw the rise and fall of

Theme Of Imagination In Peter Pan
The Magic of Neverland Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world (Albert Einstein). Imagination is one of the varieties of themes that
are introduced in Peter Pan. It is demonstrated in the novel in an assortment of ways from the
children s actions to Neverlanditself. When you are a child imagination encircles the world like
Albert Einstein said, and when you are young your imagination is more vibrant. It also configures
as you start to matriculate and start realizing reality. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the theme of
Imagination is illustrated by characters, events, and symbols.
First off, Tinkerbell is one character that represents the theme of Imagination. For example,
when Tink is poisoned it is all up to the children to clap and save her. If you believe , he shouted
to them, clap your hands; don t let Tink die. Many clapped. Some didn t (Barrie 122). When you
are young it is natural to imagine and believe in things that don t always exist in reality. Tinkerbell
represents this because if the children still believed in fairies they would clap their hands.
Tinkerbell is one of the multifarious mythical creatures that children believe in when they are in the
younger stages of child development. Imagination is so vibrant in the younger stages of child
development because they are so eager to learn, figure out new ideas and ways of doing things.
Imagination not only cultivates social and cognitive

Head and Neck Essay
Common head and neck surgery includes the removal of the voice box: largyngectomy and
tracheostomy: making an incision on the anterior aspect of the neck and opening an airway through
an incision in the trachea. The removal of the larynx occurs in cases of laryngeal cancer and in this
case the airway is separated from the mouth, nose and oesophagus meaning that the patient will
breathe through a stoma in the neck. In tracheostomy cases the resulting stoma can act as an airway
and a tracheotomytube is inserted, enabling the individual to breathe without the use of their nose
and mouth.

in those with reduced consciousness or to maintain an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that air does not pass through the vocal cords and so speech is not possible.
Sometimes patients can have a tracheostomy tube that allows some air to go through the vocal
chords and out of the mouth. Patients can have this type of tube if they are able to swallow without
difficulty and if they do not need a tracheostomy tube with an inflated cuff in order to get air into
the lungs.
The last option is surgical voice restoration which was introduced by Singer amp; Blom in
1980(Blom,1995) Not all patients are suitable for this however, It involves a tracheoesophageal
speaking valve, a small fistula is surgically created through the tracheal wall into the oesophagus.
A small, one way valve is inserted into the fistula and it allows air to be shunted from the trachea
to the oesophagus and up through the pharyngo oesophageal segment creating an acoustic wave
form and voice. A longer flow of voice can be achieved as pulmonary air is used as the initiator for
voice.
Another problem that arises in head and neck patients is that of malnutrition and weight loss. They
are particularly at risk of developing nutritional problems. Many patients with head and neck cancer
have histories of high alcohol intake, tobacco use and poor dietary habits. Malnutrition often when
alcohol is involved. Patients nutritional needs should be assessed and patients at high risk of

topics. Although assisted suicide is not among the topics, however I do understand the difficulties
of addressing sensitive topics. The following assignment is a reflection on Helping a Suicide
When the End Isn t Near. First, I ll introduce the debaters as well as their background and position
on this controversial topic. Next, I will address my view and rationale pertaining to the topic.
An opinionated article, Helping a Suicide When the End Isn t Near, published by the New York
Times includes segments from both Mark Kleiman and Ira Byock who share their opinions on
whether or not assisted suicide should be legal in the United States. Kleiman, who insist that laws
prohibiting assisted suicide must be erased, is a professor of public policy at New York University
s Marron Institute of Urban Management, whereas Byock, who is completely opposed to any law
change, is a professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. Kleiman
and Byock have compelling, but opposing viewpoints on this controversial subject, and each rule

support or oppose the legalization of assisted suicide. With that being said, I see both sides of

I believe if the patient is competent as well as the one who has requested to take this course of
action, it certainly can be justified. In addition, I personally believe in quality of life, not longevity.

To do so, children assist in digging and maintaining the soil, providing the proper amounts of

The two sides of this case were the plaintiffs, who were five abortion clinics and doctors who
provided abortion services, and the defendant, which was the state of Pennsylvania. The plaintiffs
filed suit to have the state declare the five provisions unconstitutional. During the appeal in the
Third Circuit Court, the court upheld all but the husband notification requirement.
Casey is a divided judgement because none of the Justices opinions were joined by a majority of
Justices. However, the plurality decision, which was written by Justices Souter, O Connor, and
Kennedy, is accepted a the lead opinion because each of its parts were agreed with by at least two
other Justices , although different ones for each part. The plurality opinion overturned the strict
trimester formula previously used in Roe vs. Wade which then made it a shorter time period before
the State s interest in the fetus outweighed the woman s interest to abort. The plurality opinion also
got rid of the husband notification requirement, saying that it would worsen situations of spousal
abuse because it would give husbands too much power over their wives.
William Rehnquist, Byron White, Harry Blackmun, John Paul Stevens, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence
Thomas those who were not included in the plurality decision wrote or joined opinions in which
they partially concurred and partially dissented from the decision.

mother as an infant. However, Poe was adopted at the age of three by John and Frances Allan who
raised him into his adult years. Poe became a writer during the romantic era, but his creations were
considered gothic romantic. Some of his pieces of works included: Lenore, The Haunted Palace,
The City in the Sea, A Dream Within a Dream, The Raven, and much more.
The Raven was written in 1845 and is a poem of darkness, sorrow, heartache, and fear. The poem

If I were the narrator of the poem I would not mind the raven being perched over my chamber
door and I would merely ignore it. Once the raven enters my chambers, I would marvel at the
small creature that was so brave as to venture into the house. However, like the narrator I would
be questionable while it perched on the bust of Pallas. Obviously the narrator was spooked
because of the tapping he had heard earlier, though it should not have caused him to act so
harshly towards the raven. The raven could have been the symbol of death or the raven could
not have been a symbol at all. Overall Poe wrote a poem many could possibly relate to, changing
your perspective and putting yourself into the author or narrator s mind is very difficult to do.
The troubling thought of having lost a love is relatable, however, I personally do not understand
the sudden change of mood the narrator seemed to have. Possibly if it were me I would have
ignored the tapping and fell right into a dreamless

How Is The Concer Differ In The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales: The Franklin vs. The Merchant
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, a set of pilgrims have a story telling competition
while travelling to Canterbury to visit the the shrine of Saint Thomas a Becket. The Merchant
and the Franklin both participate in this competition. The Merchant s Tale is a response to a
previous tale (The Clerk s) and inspired by a personal experience. The Franklin s Tale is a
retelling of an older tale. The Merchant is the last person to tell a vulgar tale, dealing with a
theme such as lust. The Franklin, who tells his tale after the Merchant, tells a tale that lives up to
the chivalric code . Prior to The Merchant s Tale, the Clerk tells a tale about a wife that is put
through a series of tests by her husband. Even with the unnecessary and extremely difficult trials,
the wife remains faithful and loyal to her husband. In his prologue, the Merchant says he can relate
to the sadness that marriage can bring although he has only been married for two months. The
Merchant says that marriage is a trap and is asked to further explain his theory. The Merchant s
Tale is about a knight named January, who had lived for sixty years without a wife. He gets
married and his squire goes behind his back to have an affair with his new wife. As the tale ends,
the Host prays aloud that God will keep him from such a deceitful wife. But he stops himself
from telling more stories about his own wife, fearing that one of the pilgrims will tell on him.
The Franklin s Tale is about a knight named Arveragus desires a wife. He marries a young maiden
named Dorigen. While her husband is away on a crusade, Dorigen is stressing in his absence. Then
Arveragus returns and finds Dorigen extremely distraught. Dorigen then explains everything to him
and he says she must keep her promise, even though it hurts him. Dorigen presents herself to
Aurelius. However, when Aurelius learns of Arveragus actions and how he lives up the chivalric
code, he cuts off the deal and sends Dorigen back to him. The two tales have similar character
structures, a female and two males. The two tales deal with the topic of medieval love, faithfulness
and commitment in marriage. It can be argued that Chaucer doesn t

World War Two And Its Effect On The World
World War Two
World War Two began in 1939 and it when for six year, World War Two lasted until both the
Germans and the Japanese had surrendered in 1945, which was six years after it began. It began
in September 1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany after Germany had invaded
Poland. January 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany and he immediately he secretly
built up Germany s army and weapons. In 1934 he made the size of the army bigger and he
began to build warships and he created a German air force. Britain and France were aware of
Germany preparing for war but they were concerned about the rise of Communism and they
thought that if Germany was stronger, it might prevent the spread of Communism. In 1936
German troops entered Rhineland, they weren t very strong at this point and they couldn t of
been defeated easily by France or England but neither of them were prepared for war. Germany s
next step was to take back the land that was originally theirs and in March 1938 German troops
moved into Austria, the Austrian leader was forced to hold a vote to see if Austria wanted to be
apart of Germany. The voting results shows that were fixed and 99% of people wanted to be in
union with Germany. Austria looked for help from France and Britain and hitter promised that it

Essay about The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements
After reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz I realized I ve been living dreams of
other people in my life and not my own. It was decided early on what I should do, what s
possible and what s not. Starting at birth we are told what to think by our parents, schools, and
church. Subconsciously, we have made agreements with them to live our life according to their
rules. Don Miguel believes that these agreements are self limiting and shares four agreements that
if we adapt into our lives we will reach true peace and happiness. The book made so much sense to
me, but the hard part is to actually commit to living out the four agreements. In short, the four
agreements are listed below: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I finally realized that people will talk about you whether you re doing good or bad.
Don t Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.
Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstanding, sadness and drama.
With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
We make assumptions because we need explanations (to our questions) to address what s going on
in our own minds. The mind is a powerful thing and our minds have different voices and
personality that can create a lot of confusion. When I make assumptions there is always conflict
that follows. I know now that through communication we can arrive to resolution. This agreement
rings true for me and has caused disappointment and sadness in my life to be at a point in my life
that I can ask for what I want.
Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different
when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you
will avoid self judgment, self abuse and regret.
I don t always feel as if I did my best I never have, too. In this agreement I know it mentions that
your best is going to change from moment to moment. I would like to experience my best more
often. To truly give my best I have to be moved in some kind of spiritual way. That is the only
time I feel as if I m doing something I want versus something I have to do. The more my life is

Evil Characters In Macbeth And Julius Caesar By William...
Evil characters are people that do things to benefit themselves by hurting others. These characters
don t care about what would happen to their countries or communities they just do what they think
is right for them. In Shakespeare s writing, most of Shakespeare s plays have at least one evil
character and it s usually in a kingdom, which always affects the king and queen. Shakespeare has
expressed the evil character in Macbethand Julius Caesar by showing greed, ambition, and hubris in
these characters.
Macbeth and Cassius are expressed as greedy people. In both ways, Macbeth and Cassius use
weapons and other people to get to their goals. In Macbeth, Macbeth does whatever is in his mind

Macbeth is the type of person that only cares about himself and doesn t really acknowledge what
happens in his surroundings. So, after some time, Macbeth murdered the king of Scotland so that

Emotional Intelligence ( Eq )
Professional success is an innate goal of all individuals in their employment. Much success in the
workplace can be contributed to one s emotional intelligence (EQ) or their understanding of
emotions in themselves and co workers which can use to form positive collegial relationships
(Cherniss Exetin, 2006). The book Emotional Intelligence2.0 by Bradberry and Greaves (2009),
effectively explains what Emotional Intelligence and provides useful strategies to improve one

glorified self help book as it does not contain much of any scientific support. This, however, is
the authors intention as they state that the single purpose of the book is to increase the reader s

their EQ appraisal. This critique will also examine the most effectual aspects of the book which

The Issue Of Sex Education
2 out of 10 girls in the U.S. will get pregnant by the age of 20 (Tsai). Teen pregnancies and STI s
in teens are very common. Teenagers in schools across the US are at risk of getting pregnant. They
may even have a sexually transmitted disease and not know it. Many teenagers and even some
adults do not know a lot about sexual health. That is because schools are not giving out some of the
most important information to their students in sex educationclasses. All public schools should
require that sex education teaches more than only about abstinence and STI s. First, schools need
to make sure that the information being taught in sex education is medically correct. Many
teenagers will go through sex education, but it is a different experience for all of them because of
lack of standardized curricula at the federal, state, and sometimes district level (Hamilton). As of
right now, sex education is mostly based on the importance of abstinence and the types of sexually
transmitted infections. Although schools are trying to promote no sex in teens, that does not mean
that teens are not in sexual relationships. Teens who are engaging in sexual actions need to know
about safe sex because that exists although people say it does not. According to the National
Conference of State Legislature, 38 States do not require mandated sex education and another 41
do not require sex education to be medically correct (Marinelli). Most sex education programs do

Essay on Logic and Moral Dilemmas
Logic and Moral Dilemmas
ABSTRACT: Logic is of great importance for the philosophy of education. In particular, logic
provides a rational and critical approach in ethics, helping us understand the nature of moral
dilemmas. Some suggest that all moral dilemmas result from some kind of inconsistency in the
moral rules. Unsolvable moral situations simply reflect implicit inconsistencies in our existing
moral code. If we are to remain moral as well as logical, then we must restore consistency to our
code. This is accomplished by adding exception clauses to current principles, and giving priorities
to some principles over others, or by some other device. I argue that we must accept moral dilemmas
as an essential part of real life reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this point of view dilemmas are so to say merely apparent rather than real.
However it seems that a complete and consistent system of moral rules is impossible not as a
matter of fact but also as a matter of principle. Indeed, at least some moral statements are the
statements concerning values. Further, according to the Moore s axiological thesis , whether
these statements are true depends on two factors: the set of alternatives which we are
evaluating, and the scale of values which we rate them. And from the theory of social choice we
know that it is possible that each of some compared alternatives (in our case, ways of action) be
no better than others in some respect, and also that there be no respect in which they are equally
good or equally bad, and so on, and so forth ( the Condorcet s effect ).
Thus we ought to accept moral dilemmas as an essential part of real life reality.
In order to philosophize, the philosopher of education can seldom turn to just one branch of
philosophy. For he needs theory of knowledge, ethics, social philosophy, philosophical
anthropology, philosophy of language, philosophy of history, philosophy of science and technology,
etc. And among them logic is of great significance. For example we reveal relations between
different spheres of educational

The Importance Of Engagement In Social Work
Engagement
Engagement is a vital component to the therapeutic process and the framework to which a social
worker establishes trust with the individual receiving services (Berg Weger, 2013). This interaction
is suggested as paramount to achieving a collaborative therapeutic relationship (Easter, Pollock,
Pope, Wisdom, Smith, 2016). Methods of engagement are considered as continuing throughout
mental health services beginning with the initial contact.
Practice Skills
In an inpatient setting, patients admit with a mental health crisis and are especially sensitive to
interactions with others. Often the first levels of engagement are challenging due to medications
that are first given to stabilize each patient. During the engagement with Mark, it was important to
encourage the sense of wellbeing towards recovery and placing a focus on his strengths. Engaging
a client with their challenges and goals are suggested to be of focus instead of an individual s
mental health status or symptoms (NovotnГЎ, Urbanoski, Rush, 2011).
Active listening
Due to Marks very depressed state, the initial interaction required a great deal of empathy and high
degrees of compassion. When first engaging a client, it is important to be compassionate and
empathetic and listen without interrupting, prompting or advising (Berg Weger, 2013). Reflecting
and summarizing content delivered in the session is a valuable way to let the client know that you
are actively listening to what they are saying

Diversity Management System Essay
Diversity is a term that we can all relate to in some way or another. The term diversity represents
the multitude of individual differences that make people different from and similar to each other,
(Kinicki Kreitner, 2009). Although some people view diversity as an issue of age, race, gender,
religion, or sexual preference, it is actually much more than that. It actually pertains to the
differences that make each individual special or unique and this is why it becomes important to
learn how to interact and grow with one another. In order for this to take place in the workplace,
establishing a strong diversity managementprogram is essential to the success of any organization.

Northern Italy was divided between the duchy of Milan and the republic of Venice. After the death
of the last Visconti ruler of Milan in 1447, Francesco Sforza, one of the leading condottieri of the
time, turned on his Milanese employers, conquered the city, and became its new duke. Both the
Visconti and the Sforza rulers worked to create a highly centralized territorial state. They were
especially successful in devising systems of taxation that generated enormous revenues for the
government. The maritime republic of Venice remained an extremely stable political entity
governed by a small oligarchy of merchant aristocrats. Its commercial empire brought in enormous
revenues and gave it the status of an international power. At the end of the fourteenth century,
Venice embarked on the conquest of a territorial state in northern Italy to protect its food supply and
its overland trade routes. Although expansion on the mainland made sense to the Venetians, it
frightened Milan and Florence, which worked to curb what they perceived as the expansionary
designs of the Venetians. Besides the five major states, there were a number of independent city

has become interwoven with technology, as nearly all aspects of one s life, whether it being at

notion leads one to see that the participation with technologies can be an essential aspect of one s

Information Communication Technology (ICT) in this digitally mediated world has led to the need
for digital education in schools, which in turn can bring both potentials and challenges in divergent

what I need. Choosing the right career takes a lot of careful timing, and it takes a lot of careful
and precise plans in order to create a suitable job prospect. I think that a career in computer
manufacturing and hardware is probably the best choice for me. Since computer hardware is
constantly evolving, it s something that you can count on to stay busy.... Show more content on

In 10 years I hope that I am able to sustain a job and keep up with the greatly advanced hardware
that s going to be around, and in 15 years I m just hoping that I ve settle for what I am doing, and
that I am still making a decent salary. The global market is high for hardware engineers.
Everything has computer operating systems now including phones, and cars. Everything is
getting smaller, and the world is always going to be accepting of new technological advances in
hardware. In a competing global market it s a sure fire way to know that I would have some
semblance of job security in the future because I would always be in on the creation and design
of new hardware for more compact machines. Industry is going to be technology in 20 years.
Everything that s struggling to conform now is going to be defunct because hardware is
advancing at such a rapid pace. Governments are going to be reliant on technology for means of
communicating with each other and assert global dominance. Every company is going to have
to have a division that includes a hardware engineer because technology is advancing so rapidly,
that even the simplest things are going to include microchips. Hardware engineering is a very good
career choice for me because It s a field that I can most assuredly be safe in. It s not going to die.
The field will be forever be evolving, and changing, and all of the

Classroom Observation Paper
For years I passed up a billboard on a busy highway in my town that read Want to teach?.... When
can you start? I never thought anything of it, and it didn t really register that the billboard was
speaking to me until one day it did. I had what I have come to know as a come to the carpet
moment with myself. I realized that in my current job I could help a few, but in becoming an
educator I could pour kindness into others that I would like to see more of in our current trying
times. Of course there is a lot to be done, and it is my deepest desire that I join the forces of
dedicated individuals who become masters of educationsuch as the teacher I will write to you

Guy stopped to show what made a quadrilateral a parallelogram. She began by drawing a
rhombus and a rectangle. She asked the class what a set of parallel lines are. She then asked the
students to identify if the shapes she had drawn had any sets of parallel lines. When she asked
this most of the students appeared to be a little confused, however she quickly refreshed the
definition of what parallel lines are and was able to help the students to better identify which
lines in the shapes were parallel thus making a certain shape a parallelogram. This piece of the
lesson also included a mini quiz which the class also took as a united group further allowing Mrs.
Guy to see where if anywhere in the lesson she needed to refresh the class

Hula Hoop Analysis
First you will have 2 line of people standing next to each other. Both lines will have one hula
hoop. However line A. will be holding hands, with their arms out at the side. While line B. will
not be holding hands, but they will have an arms length distance from each other. Then you will
have a shuffled deck of cards per line lying at the end of both lines, and then you will have a bell
at the other end of the line, with a player not in a line. So the game will begin when the player not
in a line rings the bell. This will indicate the players in both lines to start. Line A. will have to have
the first person in line pick up there hula hoop without letting go of eachothers hand and pase it
down the line. They would do this by putting ether

Bennelong History
Ok so has anybody heard of Bennelong before? Yes? No? Ok good because I am now going to
tell you every piece of information I found and any information I could extrapolate from the
World wide web. Bennelong was born in 1764. He was a senior man of the Eora Community, an
Aboriginal community from around the Port Jackson area, at the time of the first British settlement
in Australia, in 1788. Bennelong served as a speaker between the Eora and the British, both in
Sydney and in the United Kingdom. Bennelong was a member of the Wangal Clan, connected with
the south side of Parramatta River, having close ties with the Wallumedegal clan, on the west side
of the river, and the Burra mattagal clan near what we know as Parramatta. He had several... Show

Bennelong travelled with Phillip on the Atlantic to England in 1792. Many historians have
claimed that he was presented to King George III, but there is no direct evidence that this
occurred. Soon after their arrival in England he was made clothes that would have been suitable
for his presentation to the King. While in England, he also went sightseeing. After a while in
England, Bennelong s health deteriorated. He returned to Sydney in February 1795 on HMS
Reliance, the ship that took surgeon George Bass to the colony for the first time. He taught
Bass some of his language on the voyage. Bennelong arrived back in Sydney on 7 September
1795. He returned to a respected position in the colony, advising Governor Hunter as he had
advised and educated Phillip, and also returned to a prominent position in Eora political and
cultural life. He frequently participated in payback battles, and officiated at ceremonies, including
the last recorded initiation ceremony in Port Jackson in 1797. By the early 19th century, he was
the leader of a 100 strong clan living on the north side of the river to the west of Kissing Point in

Community Planning And Community Planning
Economic Development refers to economic growth, while economic growth refers to increase in
GDP (Nafziger, 2012). Economic development requires the government s dedications, incentives,
vision, and leadership (Morgan, 2011). Smart economic development, on the other hand, leverages
technology to increase efficiency, and reduce cost. It requires the government s dedications,
incentives, vision, and leadership. Public Wi Fi, for example, can be used as a tool to connect
business and citizens by supporting business transactions. Private investments and businesses play
key roles in ensuring a strong economy (McConnell, Brue Flynn, 2009). The goal of economic
developmentis to reduce unemployment, create jobs, lower poverty, lower crime rate, and increase
income, which may lead to a strong economy, better quality of life, and prosperity. Figure 2
illustrates the economic development process map. Community Planning, on the other hand, is a
strategic process of creating innovative solutions to solve the community challenges, protect, and
preserve the community s assets (infrastructure, attractions, business, utilities, libraries, schools,
personal properties, and the people). The goals of community planning are building a community
based sustainable food system, manage water resources and develop conservation strategies,
provide decent housing for the resident, foster and expand economic opportunities, create laws,
policies, zoning, and regulations, and design and build

By 1909, blacks and whites together had formed the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People (NAACP) which became a leading organization in the cause of civil rights for
African Americans. From its beginning, the NAACP and its attorneys challenged many
discriminatory laws in court, but it was not until after World War II that a widespread movement
for civil rights gathered force. The war itself contributed to the origins of the movement. When
African Americans who had fought for their country returned home, they more openly resisted
being treated as second class citizens. The movement s first major legal victory came in 1954,
when the NAACP won Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, in which the Supreme
Court struck down laws segregating white and black children into different public elementary
schools. With Brown, it became apparent that African Americans had important allies in the highest

Lucky Luciano Research Paper
Lucky Luciano In the late 1800s and early 1900s, immigration to the United States was rapid.
Many of these immigrants faced discrimination and unfair hiring practices. Due to the shortage of
jobs and earning barely enough to survive, these immigrants started gangs to carry out lucrative
business. This was the birth of the mob in America. The mob started out as loosely held together
gangs and sometimes an overboss was in charge. It later evolved into organized crimeas we know
today. New immigrants joined the already existing gangs and one of those immigrants was
Salvatore Lucania, later known as Lucky Luciano. Luciano turned the mob into a business that
made millions off of America. Salvatore Lucania was born in 1897 in the Sicily. He grew... Show

It was not near as comfortable as his normal living conditions but he still lived better than most
outside of prison. He had all of the guards paid off and no one dared to touch him. He was just as
invincible in prison as he was outside. Luciano had a big copper tub in his cell, a comfortable
bed, and all the booze and drugs he could want. He ran everything from the prison, no one would
do anything without his say so (Sullivan 50). World War II began with the sinking of the SS
Normandie. During the war, the United States Government was paranoid of german and italian
dock workers. They believed that they were smuggling in contraband and signaling enemy
submarines off the coast. Neither did the military nor the police had any control in the docks.
Albert Anastasia, who was the leader of Murder, Inc., saw an opportunity in the government s
situation. The mob had influence in the docks and that gave them leverage. The government
reached out to the mob and they assured them that Luciano was the only one with the power to
keep it clear. The agreed to let Luciano out early if he used his influence.(Dorigo

Comprehensive Immigration Reform And The United States
Comprehensive immigration reform has been a pressing issue in the United States (U.S.) for
decades. Immigration reform was one of the major platforms the President used to campaign and
draw an unprecedented amount of Latino support. Six years after those promises were made,
Congress and the President continue to disagree about the methodology and necessary framework
for such reform. Each has proposed different approaches to solving immigration. Conservatives
have pushed for stricter enforcement of current immigration laws as well increased deportations
without exceptions. The President and his fellow Democrats have aimed for an immigration theory
that can appeal to humanitarian and economic perspectives.
Within the last decade, the focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To fully understand why immigration reform is such a highly contested measure, it bears
analyzing current laws and previous reform attempts. Part of the reason why immigration reform
has been so difficult to achieve is due to the vast number of current laws and regulations. Currently
the U.S. has many different classifications for incoming immigrants and varying quotas. Incoming
documented immigrants are classified in four ways: family based immigration, economic
immigration, refugees and asylum seekers, and diversity immigrants. There is an annual limit of
675,000 permanent immigrants worldwide, with Congress and the President setting limits for
refugee seekers (Immigration Policy Center). Family sponsored visas are limited to 226,000
visas per year. Family immigration allows citizens and permanent residents to sponsor family
members, spouses, unmarried minor children and parents, for visas, under qualifying conditions.
There is also preference given to the adult children and siblings of citizens and the spouses and
unmarried children of permanent residents (Immigration Policy Center). In the search for
workers, the U.S. allows workers to immigrate for a temporary or permanent basis. Workers are
divided into categories and the majority are for highly skilled workers, who are sponsored by an
employer.
Refugees are allowed to immigrate to the U.S. based

Political Stereotypes In Scandal
The political thriller Scandal which began airing in 2012 has become an immensely popular
television show. The protagonist Olivia Pope is portrayed by the actress Kerry Washington. Olivia
Pope is a crisis manager who runs her own firm, Pope Associates, which specializes in managing
political situations and making the problems of the elite go away. Scandal, challenges the
mainstream blueprint used to construct most televisionshows in Western society. Primarily, Scandal
breaks down stereotypes of African Americans and females in general in society. There are many
ways in which Scandal achieves these goals. Scandal has a diverse cast of characters normally not
portraited on television. The characters do not conform to the stereotypes that have made other
similar characters successful. Scandals also uses on screen and off screen choices that contrast
choices typically made by the television industry. Through these different choices Scandal portrays
African Americans and women on television in a way which is far from common in the industry.
Television is widely considered a more racial and gender friendly medium of popular culture.
However, prime time television is not nearly as progressive as people believe, and is still a male
dominated industry. In a report done by the Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg,
11,306 speaking characters were evaluated and 66.5% were male, while 33.5% were female [1].
Moreover, 41.6% of females in television took leading or

  • 4. Using Alternative Fuels For Cars There are many different types of alternate fuels for cars at our disposal, such as Ethanol, Natural Gas, Electricity, and Hydrogen Fuels. We can use these fuels instead of normal gasoline fuels that pollute our air and contribute to destroying our environment. Many of these alternative fuels may be less convenient to use, because they are less accessible. However, if people decide to use these fuels then they can make our world a green friendly world. There this a ton of upside to using alternative fuels, according to Larry West s article on the top eight alternative fuels, as they can help nations become more energy independent. In addition, there are several downsides or challenges associated with alternative fuels for cars, such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At its low price it s much more affordable then most fuels making it a good option. There a lot of positive sides to using ethanol but there an also a few negative things it can produce when used or even made. Ethanol is a good alternative fuel but there is negative things that come with it. Ethanol requires a bunch of corn, barley, and wheat to make (Meyers, 2014). Which in turn could be used to feed starving people all over the world. Using corn, barley, and wheat hinders food availability and even the prices of the food. The new York times has stated that using ethanol actually decreases gas mileage. Ethanol gives you 2 3 miles less than normal gasoline (West, 2014). Ethanol can also break down faster than normal gasoline. Meaning that ethanol can cause rust of the car engine. Making ethanol can actually pollute the air a bunch because of all the gasoline it requires to power the tractors and machines that gather the required material to make it. Ethanol has negative impacts on our environment but overall it has more positives then negatives and makes a good alternative fuel. Natural Gas is another alternative fuel option that has a bunch of positive sides to it. Using natural gas produces lower negative emissions that pollute the air. Natural gas produces less smog then your normal gasoline that everyone uses. Natural gas is helping America as a nation to use clean environmental friendly energy sources. • 5. The Creature Of The Beast In France in the late 1760 s, there was an atrocity that involved around one hundred animal attack deaths caused by one creature, the infamous Beast of Gevaudan. Per Jaime Hill, the beast was the size of a horse and looked like a bear, hyena, wolf, and panther hybrid. It had a long wolf or pig like snout. Many researchers believed there were at least two, or more than two, beasts roaming the area. The color of the beast changed every time the beast was spotted; it would go from red to red with grey and white patches to red with stripes. Sometimes there would even be no red, it may just be black or white. Locals believed it to be a werewolf, or a sorcerer who shapeshifted into a monstrous predator to feed on human flesh. He said he needed a holy bullet made of silver, blessed by a holy man. He takes the ammunition into the forest and arrives back to the village with a wolf. Villagers agree it is the beast and no beast is spotted afterwards. In 2000, historians notice things do not add up; a wolf cannot remove someone s clothes. In 2011, researchers concluded that Jean trained the wolf, killed the people, and then killed the wolf to make it look like a beast. Still to this day, no one knows for sure what happened ( Mysteries at the Museum n.p.). Per World of Mythology, the attacks of the beast started in 1764. People all around hunted every wolf they could find, hoping it would be the beast, but the attacks continued. In 1765, Francois Antoine killed a large grey wolf, but the attacks continued Also in 1765, a doctor came across a man in a wolf suit assaulting a woman and killed him but the attacks still went on. Finally, a man by the name Jean Chastel discovered that if a silver bullet is blessed by a church, it could kill the beast. Chastel got three silver bullets blessed by the local church and went into the woods, returning with a dead wolf. This was the final attack on a wolf by the time the attacks stopped. While we are told that Emma dearly loved her father, he also was no companion for her. He could not meet her in conversation, rational or playful (24). Mr. Woodhouse demonstrates excessive hypochondria and a constant demand for attention that are provided unflaggingly by Emma; In a striking reversal, she functions as his parent, caring for his needs and guiding him with her superior understanding and emotional strength. Though much older than his daughter, Mr. Woodhouse cannot provide her with the figure of authority, wisdom, and strength. Instead, he looks to her for leadership and comfort. Consequently, Emma infantilizes the old man, she forever shields her father against critique and thereby sustains his dependence. In return, Mr. Woodhouse heralds Emma as ... My Papa Knultz Analysis Battered Knuckles While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly supports the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect back to his sentimental memories with his father. In brief, Roethke leaves the audience with an unclear understanding of what the meaning of the poem is. In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one controversial issue is the father casually plays with the son. On the other hand, some readers argue that the father is abusing his son straightforwardly. However, after contemplating the context of the poem and gathering information from the text, it has become undeniably clear that the poem is about the father abusing his son. Ultimately, Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to illustrate a picture of his nostalgic remembrance for the readers. The authors controversial poem becomes clear when one carefully examines the context of the poem. In stanza one, line one, Roethke describes the papa in the poem as having whiskey on [his] breath. This line illuminates the idea of the father being intoxicated; hence, can lead to a change in behavior. Further, the change in behavior can be the cause of violence towards the child in the poem. Coincidentally, Roethke s father dies in 1923 at the age of 52; thirty eight years later Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz, roughly at 52 years of age. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Romeo accidentally gets invited to a Capulet party and attends it in hopes of seeing his love, Rosaline. Instead, Romeo goes and spots Juliet and forgets about Rosaline and falls in love with how beautiful Juliet was. I believe fate is what caused Romeo and Juliet s death. I believe this because it was fate the way Romeo was drawn to Juliet, it was fate how they fell in love on rival sides of the family, and it was fate that Romeo got invited to that party. Imagination is one of the varieties of themes that are introduced in Peter Pan. It is demonstrated in the novel in an assortment of ways from the children s actions to Neverlanditself. When you are a child imagination encircles the world like Albert Einstein said, and when you are young your imagination is more vibrant. It also configures as you start to matriculate and start realizing reality. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the theme of Imagination is illustrated by characters, events, and symbols. First off, Tinkerbell is one character that represents the theme of Imagination. For example, when Tink is poisoned it is all up to the children to clap and save her. If you believe , he shouted to them, clap your hands; don t let Tink die. Many clapped. Some didn t (Barrie 122). When you are young it is natural to imagine and believe in things that don t always exist in reality. Tinkerbell represents this because if the children still believed in fairies they would clap their hands. Tinkerbell is one of the multifarious mythical creatures that children believe in when they are in the younger stages of child development. The last option is surgical voice restoration which was introduced by Singer amp; Blom in 1980(Blom,1995) Not all patients are suitable for this however, It involves a tracheoesophageal speaking valve, a small fistula is surgically created through the tracheal wall into the oesophagus. A small, one way valve is inserted into the fistula and it allows air to be shunted from the trachea to the oesophagus and up through the pharyngo oesophageal segment creating an acoustic wave form and voice. A longer flow of voice can be achieved as pulmonary air is used as the initiator for voice. Another problem that arises in head and neck patients is that of malnutrition and weight loss. They are particularly at risk of developing nutritional problems. Many patients with head and neck cancer have histories of high alcohol intake, tobacco use and poor dietary habits. Next, I will address my view and rationale pertaining to the topic. An opinionated article, Helping a Suicide When the End Isn t Near, published by the New York Times includes segments from both Mark Kleiman and Ira Byock who share their opinions on whether or not assisted suicide should be legal in the United States. Kleiman, who insist that laws prohibiting assisted suicide must be erased, is a professor of public policy at New York University s Marron Institute of Urban Management, whereas Byock, who is completely opposed to any law change, is a professor of medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. Casey is a divided judgement because none of the Justices opinions were joined by a majority of Justices. However, the plurality decision, which was written by Justices Souter, O Connor, and Kennedy, is accepted a the lead opinion because each of its parts were agreed with by at least two other Justices , although different ones for each part. The plurality opinion overturned the strict trimester formula previously used in Roe vs. Wade which then made it a shorter time period before the State s interest in the fetus outweighed the woman s interest to abort. The plurality opinion also got rid of the husband notification requirement, saying that it would worsen situations of spousal abuse because it would give husbands too much power over their wives. How Is The Concer Differ In The Canterbury Tales The Canterbury Tales: The Franklin vs. The Merchant In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, a set of pilgrims have a story telling competition while travelling to Canterbury to visit the the shrine of Saint Thomas a Becket. The Merchant and the Franklin both participate in this competition. The Merchant s Tale is a response to a previous tale (The Clerk s) and inspired by a personal experience. The Franklin s Tale is a retelling of an older tale. The Merchant is the last person to tell a vulgar tale, dealing with a theme such as lust. The Franklin, who tells his tale after the Merchant, tells a tale that lives up to the chivalric code . Prior to The Merchant s Tale, the Clerk tells a tale about a wife that is put through a series of tests by her husband. Even with the unnecessary and extremely difficult trials, the wife remains faithful and loyal to her husband. In his prologue, the Merchant says he can relate to the sadness that marriage can bring although he has only been married for two months. The Merchant says that marriage is a trap and is asked to further explain his theory. The Merchant s Tale is about a knight named January, who had lived for sixty years without a wife. He gets married and his squire goes behind his back to have an affair with his new wife. As the tale ends, the Host prays aloud that God will keep him from such a deceitful wife. But he stops himself from telling more stories about his own wife, fearing that one of the pilgrims will tell on him. The Franklin s Tale is about a knight named Arveragus desires a wife. He marries a young maiden named Dorigen. While her husband is away on a crusade, Dorigen is stressing in his absence. Then Arveragus returns and finds Dorigen extremely distraught. Dorigen then explains everything to him and he says she must keep her promise, even though it hurts him. Dorigen presents herself to Aurelius. However, when Aurelius learns of Arveragus actions and how he lives up the chivalric code, he cuts off the deal and sends Dorigen back to him. Many teenagers and even some adults do not know a lot about sexual health. That is because schools are not giving out some of the most important information to their students in sex educationclasses. All public schools should require that sex education teaches more than only about abstinence and STI s. First, schools need to make sure that the information being taught in sex education is medically correct. Many teenagers will go through sex education, but it is a different experience for all of them because of lack of standardized curricula at the federal, state, and sometimes district level (Hamilton). As of right now, sex education is mostly based on the importance of abstinence and the types of sexually transmitted infections. Although schools are trying to promote no sex in teens, that does not mean that teens are not in sexual relationships. Teens who are engaging in sexual actions need to know about safe sex because that exists although people say it does not. • 31. Essay on Logic and Moral Dilemmas Logic and Moral Dilemmas ABSTRACT: Logic is of great importance for the philosophy of education. In particular, logic provides a rational and critical approach in ethics, helping us understand the nature of moral dilemmas. Some suggest that all moral dilemmas result from some kind of inconsistency in the moral rules. Unsolvable moral situations simply reflect implicit inconsistencies in our existing moral code. If we are to remain moral as well as logical, then we must restore consistency to our code. This is accomplished by adding exception clauses to current principles, and giving priorities to some principles over others, or by some other device. I argue that we must accept moral dilemmas as an essential part of real life reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this point of view dilemmas are so to say merely apparent rather than real. However it seems that a complete and consistent system of moral rules is impossible not as a matter of fact but also as a matter of principle. Indeed, at least some moral statements are the statements concerning values. Further, according to the Moore s axiological thesis , whether these statements are true depends on two factors: the set of alternatives which we are evaluating, and the scale of values which we rate them. And from the theory of social choice we know that it is possible that each of some compared alternatives (in our case, ways of action) be no better than others in some respect, and also that there be no respect in which they are equally good or equally bad, and so on, and so forth ( the Condorcet s effect ). Thus we ought to accept moral dilemmas as an essential part of real life reality. In order to philosophize, the philosopher of education can seldom turn to just one branch of philosophy. For he needs theory of knowledge, ethics, social philosophy, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of language, philosophy of history, philosophy of science and technology, etc. And among them logic is of great significance. The Importance Of Engagement In Social Work Engagement Engagement is a vital component to the therapeutic process and the framework to which a social worker establishes trust with the individual receiving services (Berg Weger, 2013). This interaction is suggested as paramount to achieving a collaborative therapeutic relationship (Easter, Pollock, Pope, Wisdom, Smith, 2016). Methods of engagement are considered as continuing throughout mental health services beginning with the initial contact. Practice Skills In an inpatient setting, patients admit with a mental health crisis and are especially sensitive to interactions with others. Often the first levels of engagement are challenging due to medications that are first given to stabilize each patient. During the engagement with Mark, it was important to encourage the sense of wellbeing towards recovery and placing a focus on his strengths. Engaging a client with their challenges and goals are suggested to be of focus instead of an individual s mental health status or symptoms (NovotnГЎ, Urbanoski, Rush, 2011). Active listening Due to Marks very depressed state, the initial interaction required a great deal of empathy and high degrees of compassion. When first engaging a client, it is important to be compassionate and empathetic and listen without interrupting, prompting or advising (Berg Weger, 2013).
