Essay on Kiwi Series
Kiwi Series #1
My choice of artwork for this essay is titled Kiwi Series # 1. This painting is made by Dennis
Wojtkiewicz in 2005. The size of this painting is 36 by 66 inches. The medium used in this
painting is the oil on canvas. I chose this painting because it appeals to my sense of aesthetics and
also it has the most interesting use of texture. This painting is an excellent example of our sight
being able to activate other senses. The presentation of the translucent fruit and fuzzy skin is so
convincing that we have a visual and a tactile reaction and for some, a sensation of taste. The
painter has used actual texture in this painting. In this essay, I will talk about the subject matter and
then the content. I will also be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chiaroscuro is also evident due to the illusion of light and shadow as the light source is coming
from the top. Casting shadow on the table. There are areas of strong contrast such as the light color
of fruit against the dark background. Sfumato is also evident in this painting. The dark colors of
the seeds also create contrast against the light color of the fruit. Also there is contrast of the
seeds against the bright area near it. The color is a local color as it replicates the appearance of
the real world. The colors are natural. The fruit is green and light green in color. The seeds are
black. A slight brown color is also used near the edge of the fruit. The texture is simulated. If
someone would touch this painting, they would feel slight bumps of the paint. For the most part,
the artist has simulated the texture of the fruit. The background of the painting appears to be
smooth. There is not much space in the painting. The figure is right at the forefront of the painting
so the painting has shallow space. The background is dark and we could not see anything except
the fruit. Principles:
The balance in this painting is symmetrical. The right side is very similar to the left side. If I were
to draw a line in the middle of this painting, the visual weight on both sides of the painting would
be the same. The painting is populated almost the same on both sides. The dominant part in this
painting is the half cut kiwi fruit. It occupies almost 85% of

European Influence On Native Americans
Although Native Americans would have grown and prospered after ejecting European colonists
from the New World, it would be foolish to assume that European nations would never breach the
Americas. While it is true that Europeans would be unable to overpower a fully intact Native
American presence, eventually, Europeans would seize the Americasthe same way they conquered
not only Africa, but Asia as well. As time passed, technology boomed, and the Industrial Revolution
mechanized the European world. With their newly invigorated might, the chasm separating
European technology and that of the rest of the world split wider. With innovations including
railroads, telegraphs, advanced firearms such as the Gatling gun, steam engines, and sophisticated...

These systems required labor in order to operate. Originally, European colonists utilized native
labor, but seeing as Native Americans quickly perished as a result of disease, colonists resorted
to importing laborers from Africa. The necessity of African slavery in the American colonies
became the reason for the largest forced migration in history, as at least 12 million Africans were
carried across the Atlantic between the years 1500 and 1860, when the Atlantic slave trade was
ended. The Middle Passage, the journey from Africa to the New World across the Atlantic, was
responsible for the deaths of nearly 2 million African slaves since slave carrying boats were often
filthy and overcrowded, unscrupulously jampacked with human cargo in an effort to utilize the
boat s capacity and to increase the efficiency and profit of each trip (Gates). Had Native Americans
been immune to European pathogens, they would have prevented any large scale European
settlements from occurring in the Americas; therefore, plantations, mines, and other labor intensive
projects would be impractical for European explorers, and the necessitation of slave labor would be
nonexistent. As a result, the largest forced migration in world history would be avoided. Even after
Europe underwent the Industrial

Bipolar I Disorder ( Bd )
This paper focuses on bipolar I disorder, previously known as manic depressive illness. It
includes the definition and characteristics, neurobiology and pathophysiology, psychological and
environmental factors about the disorder. There is also a brief description about nursing
interventions. Next, two evidence based research papers will be presented. Additionally, there
will be a summary on two audiovisual films that focused on bipolar I disorder. Lastly, there is a
brief discussion about personal thoughts and feelings about bipolar I disorder. Introduction
When people are asked what bipolar I disorder (BD) is, they often describe someone as being
psychotic, having drastic mood changes, being depressed then super happy, and the list is
endless. Often, individuals who suffer with BD are stigmatized and discriminated. The
following piece is part of a poem called You and Me written by Debbie Sesula, ...If you get angry
/ You re considered upset/ If I get angry/ I m considered dangerous. / If you over react to
something/ You re sensitive/ If I over react to something/ I m out of control... BD is not well
understood by society and it is unfortunate that individuals who have this disorder often isolate
themselves and feel ashamed. Definition and Characteristics The essential feature of a manic
episode is a distinct period during which there is an abnormally, persistently elevated, expansive
irritable mood and persistently increased activity or

Differences Between Culture, Race, And Class
This paper will focus on the similarities and differences in cultures and how it relates to schooling,
family, religion, education and language. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the effects that
culture, race, and class have on human s behaviors, resilience, struggles and faith. . The cross culture
countries of analysis will be Guyana and Portugal which are situated at two opposite ends of the
world. Which makes this comparison even more compelling? With worlds so distant, one might
expect to have fewer similarities. But as I began to categorize the similarities and differenceon chart

According to the text Understanding Human Differences by Koppelman stated For every talent
that poverty has stimulated it has blighted a hundred (p. 264). Secondly, the difference that was
recognizable was the religious aspect. Even though Claudio was raised a Roman Catholic and I
an Anglican, we both believe in the same God. Our views on heaven and hell totally differ
relating to religious beliefs. From my perspective I, believe in heaven and a hell. Coupled with,
being accountable to someone when you depart this world. As the saying goes, everyone was
put on this earth for a reason and we as individuals should achieve and accomplished the purpose
we were meant to achieve. If for some reason, we did not achieve our purpose while we were on
earth, then there should be consequences for our actions or missteps when our souls depart this
earth. Claudio on the other hand, whose early years were deeply engrossed in becoming a priest,
has drawn a connection from his own life experience. For instance, he seems to come to the
conclusion that there is a heaven, but not a hell. He also elaborated that the persecution that
humans endure during their lifetime on earth is the hell we sometimes describes when

Arrowhead Hospital runs three family health clinic and forty specialty clinics. The outpatient
services department has whole heartedly accepted the Population Health Management program due
to the type of patients Arrowhead hospital covers. The DSRIP 2.0 provides enough economic
incentive in order to keep the public safety net hospitals interested. The outpatient services
department has set up a care team for each family health clinics. The chronically ill patients are
handled by RNs that are called care managers. The care managers filter the chronically ill patients

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Obama s Inauguration Speech
The Inauguration address is made by the newly sworn in President of the United States every four
years. This custom started, by our nation s first President George Washington, in 1789 (President).
Every President since Washington has given this speech. Presidents utilize this to bestow their plan
in the forthcoming years of the United Statesand ambitions for America. This is utmost one of the
most important days in the History of America as it signaled the birth of a new nation. In today s
context it signals a peaceful exchange of power in the most disruptive of times. The speech is
primarily given out to the citizens of the United States, who need to know what the future holds
for them; Now in a world of globalization and foreign policy this speech is paid attention to
throughout the world. All Inaugural addresses are similar. First they start with their greeting, then
examine the state of the nation, the newly elected President presents the issues of the country and
the plan to solve them. After the President draws upon powerful lessons and rhetoric to bring
inspiration to the American people and finally closes off to end the address. President Obama was
no stranger to that as he has done that, like every President before him, not once but twice, in 2009
and 2013. Using rhetoric, President Obama grasps the attention and impacts audiences listening and
watching all over the world in 2013. The three rhetorical devices President Obama uses are:

The Death Of The Black Death
Fear. Uncertainty. Survival. These three words became synonymous with life in Western Europe
during the period of the Black Death. This grim period represents a dark era in European history
when a devastating outbreak resulted in a significant amount of instability, decline in population,
and economic, political and cultural upheaval. In the face of this terrifying calamity, human
judgement was put to the test as fear and uncertainty made people react to the plague in extreme
ways. Socially, the lack of understanding of the real cause of the plague and its widespread reach
made people adopt drastic measures to combat it. Religious beliefs and superstitions also played
a major role in the way people reacted to the plague as many believed that the plague was a
punishment for their sins. The outbreak also brought to the surface human weaknesses such as
greed and indulgence as people tried to take advantage of the situation for their personal gain.
Even today, society faces turmoil as a result of disease, as in the case of Ebola, which caused
significant amount of mayhem and fear in the beginning when it could not be contained. The Black
Deathresulted in an extraordinary amount of fear and uncertainty in society as hundreds were dying
each day from a disease that people could neither understand nor control. Due to this lack of
understanding people began to isolate themselves and treat the infected with cruelty and
indifference. This is evident from the account of Giovan

Signs Of The Deaf Community Sign Language
American Sign Language There are thousands of languages spoken all over the world and
hundreds spoken across the United States of America, but what about the language that isn t
technically spoken? The ability to speak in order to communicate is a privilege that most forget
they have. Imagine the struggle of the injustice a person was served losing their ability to hear or
speak normally. It s heartbreaking because communication is so vital to a person s life. However,
imagine a system that allows these people to communicate without much problem. This system is
actually classified as its own languageand it s called Sign Language. Sign Language a language that
helps many with disabilities, and those who don t have disabilities, communicate with each other.
However, despite its huge impact on the deaf community Sign Language still has some room for
improvement. Just like other languages though, there isn t just one form of sign language. There
are many types and variations of sign language based on environment and location. But the most
commonly used and most commonly heard of would be American Sign Languageor ASL for short.
For the purpose of this essay, we ll be discussing American Sign Language. Sign Language dates
all the way back to 1620 when a man named Juan Pablo Bonet wrote a series of essays on what
he believed be the appropriate manner of communication with the deaf. His essays showed his own
system of language for the deaf including an alphabet and a series of

Seniors Housing Case Report
Follow the Curve: Why national trends in Seniors Housing occupancy data should matter to
Independent Owners If you even occasionally read any Seniors Housing publication, you would
be hard pressed to avoid the topic of the declining industry occupancy statistics published by the
National Investment Center for Seniors Housing Care, Inc (NIC), the preeminent healthcare real
estate database and industry advocate. NIC recently released second quarter 2017 data that
displayed several interesting points: The largest inventory growth for Seniors Housing in a single
quarter since NIC MAP began its reporting in fourth quarter 2005. Seniors Housing occupancy fell
to 88.8%, down 50 basis points from the first quarter 2017 and 140 basis points below... Show more

These changes will find their way into every market how will independent owners be prepared
to react? Absorption and the question of market penetration Much of the decline in occupancy
has been attributed to the massive influx of new units brought to the market. Over the previous
year, more than 22,000 units were added to the Seniors Housing stock. Of those 22,000 units,
only 15,000 have been absorbed to date. The second quarter of 2017 alone brought online
approximately 6,000 units the largest quarterly increase in new units since NIC began collecting
data. While stabilized communities (facilities older than two years or if less have already
reached 95%+ occupancy levels) continue to show strong occupancy levels (90.4% nationally),
the influx of inventory will eventually work its way into affecting occupancy at older stock as
newer Seniors Housing residents will have a choice between providers. Capital Listens While
acquisition and development capital will always analyze deals on a local level, troubling national
headlines relating to low occupancy could cause capital s purse strings to tighten. Seniors Housing
has few publicly available data points, occupancy statistics being one of them. Many investors
speculate that we are in the later innings of the investment cycle and all eyes are scanning the
horizon for any signs of trouble. Might the recent low occupancy figures be those dark clouds?

Disadvantages Of Value Engineering
Value engineering is not just about reducing costs. The concept of value analysis came into
being during World War II at General Electrical crop. people were struggling to produce badly
needed products when faced with shortfalls of everything like, raw materials, skilled labor and all
kinds. A team of engineers, led by Larry Miles, was forced to find authoritative substitutes. While
substitutes to reduce costs, they found that in many cases, the product is also improved. Since then,
the incident became a party to a structured process. Value Engineering aims to ensure that the client
gets full value for every money spent on the project. This value is only what can be changed or

is we pick a day to wrap presents. This happened yesterday my mom agreed to lock her bedroom
door as we wrapped her presents on the kitchen table. Every year we always find some good deal

Manufacturing Output Rises in the Us
An economic revival is here according to an article in The Atlantic titled America s Coming
Manufacturing Revolution . In the author s own words, The combination of lower energy prices,
innovative information technologies, and advances in robotics and materials science are powering
a manufacturing revolution that will reinvigorate the U.S. economy, (NaГm, Apr. 21, 2014). Bold
words considering the recent financial crisis and drama in the geopolitical arena, but is there
enough evidence to back his claims of this so called manufacturing revolution ? Several news

The Federal Reserve Bank assessed potential being used at factories, mines and utilities in the U.S.
reached 79.2 percent in March . Comparatively, the national average from 1980 until now is 79.4
percent (Chandra, Apr. 20, 2014). According to an article in Reuters, this is the highest capacity
utilization since June 2008. (Nawaguna, Apr. 16, 2014) Incidentally, as resources are used more
efficiently, manufacturing output will increase. Higher labor costs and allocation of factory space
are excellent indications that manufacturing output has indeed gone up within the United States.
However, I would not consider it a revolution by any means because most of the data suggests this
is only a gradual upward trend and hasn t changed any aspects of business. Although, if this
upward trend continues, we can expect more job openings, greater use of factory space, and more
made in the US products floating up around the markets of the world. Luckily, accountants aren t
paid to forecast so my essay ends here.

Greek Gods and Theogony
The Theogony of Hesoid
A dactylic hexameter poem of slightly over 1,000 lines, Theogony traces the genealogy and
history of the Greek gods. The poet Hesiod begins his song with a description of the activities of
the nine Muses in their mountain home on Mt. Helicon. He tells how they sing and celebrate the
gods of the Olympian pantheon; the Titans who came before them; and the oldest of the gods
Chaos, Chronos, Gaia, Uranus, Oceanus, Night, and others (Theogony, 2004). The Muses, Hesiod
tells us, spoke to him as he tended his flocks on the slopes of Mt. Helicon near his home. Into the
shepherd they breathed a poetic voice with the power to sing about the future and the past. They
instructed the poet that, when he sang, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Nanjing Massacre Of Nanjing
November 11th, 1937, was the date that the Japanese obtained secure control over Shanghai,
meaning that this was the date that the Japanese troops began their march to Nanjing. However,
the cruel actions that lead up to the massacre in Nanjing started on August 15, where the
Japanese Navy send planes that flew over Nanjing and released bombs. From that day, all the
way until December 13 (when Nanjing fell), it was estimated that more than 50 missions flew
over Nanjing, using more than 800 planes and around 160 tons of bombs. An attack that was
reported on August 27 said that within a time period of two hours, 400 500 houses were
destroyed and over one hundred people were killed, with several hundred people injured. These
actions planted the seed of fear in the Chinese civilians, which grew stronger daily with the
bombing attacks. Soon people begin to evacuate, and the population of Nanjing dropped from more
than a million to half a million. The Japanese troops entered Nanjing on December 7, and launched
a massive attack on Nanjing, which caused the Chinese troops to retreat to the opposite side of the
Yangtze River on December 12. On following day of the retreat, the Japanese s 6th and 16th
division entered Nanjing, with an addition of two more Japanese Fleets. With this, the Nanjing
Massacre begun. Within the next seven weeks, the Japanese destroyed everything that was in sight,
looting and burning property. It was estimated that more than 300,000 Chinese died during the

A Research Study On Gm Crops
GM crops are created by inserting a gene externally from an foreign source into unrelated species.
This has granted an ability to overcome many physiological barriers and to exchange genetic
information among all living organisms. The purpose of genetic modification is to create a faster,
efficient, and much more precise way to achieve the same results from artificial selection.
Additionally, it can be used in order to introduce a new trait to the crop that would not be usually
naturally occurring.
These GM crops can have many beneficial traits that improves the overall profile of the plant this
includes: extended shelf life, drought tolerance, pesticidal/herbicidal resistance, and increased
nutritional yield, etc. Many GM crop examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in order for geneticists to identify a gene of interest, they start by looking at other potential
organisms. The geneticist has to identify the trait they desire the organism to have and must find any
other organisms that already contain that gene. Finding a novel gene of interest requires intensive
research into that gene as well as luck. As an example, if a scientist wanted a gene that improved the
nutrient composition of a plant, they would look through many organisms that they believed that
produces that specific nutrient, additionally if a scientist wanted a crop to have a gene that allows it
to survive in drought conditions, they would most likely look for an organism living in those
persistently hotter conditions. Additionally, this also involves testing in order to find the organism
with the most ideal and worthy trait.
Secondly, in order to isolate a gene of interest, comparative gene analysis must be done in order to
locate and decode the specific organisms gene of interest. Whole genome alignment is done with
plants that have and do not have the gene to pinpoint the regions of difference, and if there are no
pre sequenced genomes available to perform comparison tests, scientists will use gene knockouts on
the plant genome till the characteristic of interest is gone, thus identifying the gene that generates the

Benefits Of Live And Virtual Domains Enhances Training
Air Force units and personnel need to train in a complex tactical, operational, and strategic level
environment, under all likely threat and weather conditions, emulating potential contingency
locations world wide, while integrating with composite, joint, and coalition partners. XX
Combining the unique benefits of live and virtual domains enhances training by increasing
opportunities to train with joint and multinational partners, enabling realistic combat scenarios, and
ensuring interoperability of systems. While live training exercises are limited by the number of
players available, through distributed LVC OT more players can be brought into training
scenarios. This expanded access to training events allows for a realistic blue forcelaydown for
readiness training that supports specific theater campaign plans and named operations. Rather
than relying on costly just in time live mission rehearsals, joint and combined forces tied together
in a continuously available virtual battle space can regularly rehearse and hone TTPs prior to

capability and numbers, to challenge blue force training objectives and modern weapon systems
capabilities. [INSERT EXAMPLE RF or VF] This capability is critical as the Air Force prepares

Improving Patient Throughput Essay
Improving the Patient Throughput of Cooper Hospital In 1986, the Congress enacted the
Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act
(EMTALA). This ensures the public that they will be able to receive emergency medical treatment
despite their inability to pay. If it is found, during a patient s medical screening examination that a
patient has an emergency medical condition, the hospital is then required to provide treatment. If a
hospital is unable to stabilize a patient with in it s capacity, an appropriate transfer should be
implemented (Emergency, 2012). The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act effects
Cooper Hospital and overcrowding of it s emergency department. Cooper is an inner city hospital
where most of its residents and patients fall into the low income population. Individuals are
unable to pay for or can t afford health care. Therefore, they do not have primary physicians to
refer to. This causes people to utilize the emergency department as their doctors office. Ultimately,
this arises a concern for overcrowding of Cooper s emergency department. Overcrowding of
emergency departments across the United States has the potential to become a debilitating
situation. Overcrowding arose as a phenomenon in the 80s and has now reemerged as a nation wide

In this essay I am going to be describing how the character of Sheila develops throughout An
Inspector Calls by J.B Priestley. Priestley was an English writer, who was born in Bradford. He
served in the infantry during world war one, then afterwards attended Cambridge University. As a
newspaper essayist and journalist, he wrote on a variety of subjects, then the publication of The
Good Companions in 1929 led to his establishment as a writer. At the beginning of the play, Sheila
seems to be fairly naive and acts like a younger girl. We see this when she talks to Gerald about the
previous summer and his dissappearance. When Gerald explains... Show more content on

Mr Birling then becomes annoyed and asks Are you listening Sheila? I think Sheila has a
somewhat missinformed outlook on the world, having lived in such a priviliged familiy all her
life. When Sheila first meets the inspector, she isn t sure what is going on, but appears worried
when she asks What Business? Whats Happening? When Sheila does find out what business the
inspector has at the house, she shows genuine concern exclaiming Oh how horrible! Sheila then
proceeds to find out all she can about the girl. Sheila s attitude towards her father changes to a
disgusted one when she finds out that Mr Birling had sacked Eva Smith. She says its a rotten
shame and says how girls like this are people and not just cheap labour. PUF0VZ from PUF0VZ

Sheila appears to feel guilty and says that while she felt bad at the time for complaining, she now

Daniel Boone
Your words will tell others what you think. Your actions will tell them what you believe. This
quote said by T.D Jakes shows that your real actions and real words will reveal your true self.
The character Daniel Boone learns this after he sees his friend Wolf s true ego. The two boys
shouted and laughed as they ran through this crooked path. They kept it up until Wolf s father
came (57). In the beginning of the story, Daniel Boone meets an Indian Quaker named Wolf.
Daniel and Wolf played for hours until Wolf s father came. In this part of the story, Wolf is
portrayed as a nice character. After meeting Wolf s tribe, Daniel began to see that Wolf wasn t
what he imagined he would be. There wasn t a friendly smile anywhere, even from Wolf.

The world record small mouth weighed 11 pounds and 15 ounces. Was 27 inches long and 21 2

Smallmouths have both external fertilization and external development. Feeding for smallmouth
tops when the temperature is around 78 degrees and starts to slow down once the temperature
goes below 40 degrees. The male always guards the eggs and the babies which are known as fry.
The spawning usually occurs in April or May unless the temperature stays cold than it can be
delayed. The first person to describe a smallmouth bass was Lacepede is 1802. The fry hatch out
of their eggs in about a week and then continue to develop for another week. Young smallmouths
are fed upon by yellow perch, Northern pike or muskellunge. Bigger bass are only eaten by
northern pike, musky but the main predators of smallmouth bass are humans. The lifespan in the
wild is normally about seven years, but some will live up to 20 years. In captivity the average
age is ten years. When the young hatch out of their eggs they are about 0.2 inches long, very
easy prey for a variety of animals. Multiple females will spawn in the nest of one male and an
individual female will spawn in more than one. Smallmouth dance and bite each other, this is their
mating ritual. In New York the record smallmouth was 8 pounds, 4 ounces caught out of Lake Erie

Dualism And Personalism
Dualism is a philosophy that hypothesizes our mind is more then just our body. Dualists all deny
that the mind is the same as the brain. In contrast Personalism is a philosophy that says our mind
and body are one and the same. Personalists regard personhood as the fundamental notion that
which gives meaning to all reality. We will explore their differences through their impact on
abortion, death and politics.
Dualism is a philosophy that in its most basic form holds that the mind is comprised of a
nonphysical substance, while the body is composed of the physical substance called matter. This
type of dualism is called substance dualism, or Cartesian Dualism. This type of dualism was
formulated by Rene Descartes, who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the mind truly was a different substance then while the body dies the brain would still show
some signs of life, because the mind would still be causally affecting it.
Dualism and abortion. Because a dualism at its core it the belief that something is composed of
two different parts, body and mind, a dualists could look at abortion two ways. The first way is
that because the mind and body a different and only causally interact, then abortion does not end
the life and so should not be considered murder. The second way is that because the mind and
body ARE causally affecting one another then because you hurt one half it affects the other and a
harmful way and should be considered and harmful act and outlawed. Because body and mind are
one and the same both these views are wrong just on principle, but if we delve deeper the view
that abortion end the life and thus shouldn t be considered murder is obviously the more harmful
of the two. But it is especially harmful because this view separates the mind from the body and
thus supports the pro abortionists view that the baby is just a bunch of cells and isn t sentient. And
the second view is harmful, but not quite as harmful as the first. The second view marginalizes
what happens during abortion, by saying that because the mind is causally affected by what
happens to the body that the act is harmful is different then saying the act

My Favorite Character In The Taming Of The Shrew
Taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you assignment.
Who is your favourite character?
My favourite character in the taming of the shrew is tranio because although he is not a antagonist
like petruchio, lucentio or the sisters he is the character that the play relies on. The plot of the
taming of the shrew consists of a man named petruchio marrying a woman named Katherine so
that another man named lucentio can marry Katherines younger sister Bianca. Tranio is a great
help to this play by convincing lucentio to go and find some girls in the first place and he also
convinces the sisters father babtista that he is lucentio so that lucentio can follow his love
Bianca. Tranio does not marry by the end of the play although he is a great help to lucentio
giving him great ideas during his peruse of love like convincing him to pretend to be a teacher
named Cambio to get closer to Bianca. The reason I like tranio best is because he is very selfless
and devoted to lucentio and his plans.
2. Write a love poem or sonnet from the perspective of Petruchio. (100 words)
Katherine my dearest,
You are to me as fish are to the sea, swimming and wading let our love never start fading. We will
live together as we age, we will never break after any rage, we will only grow stronger like a steel
cage. I am sorry for any damage that will be done, I knew our love would sprout after our
relationship had begun, I just hope we never stop having fun. Katherine my feelings for you are
unexplainable, if my feelings for you were words they would be unattainable, Katherine let our love
never be detainable for I will never hold you down. I will only let you have what you need and if
you need me then I will let you roam free, free in our free love as we are prisoners being let free
leaving our chain, embracing our pain and joining each other in forevermore.
Sincerely petruchio.
3. Is Taming of the shrew a sexist play? (200 words)
I believe that the taming of the shrew was an early adaption of a feminists story. There are
sometimes subtle and hidden hints in the taming of the shrew that point out to feminists and sexist
topics. Some of these topics are that Katherine before she is made more normal and how a woman

Political Elements In A Christmas Carol And Rip Van Carolol
It s All Political (Ch. 13)
1.Why does nearly all writing contain political elements?
Nearly all writing contains political elements, because an author usually includes the world around
them when writing. Authors will embrace society in their writing by showing the political
injustices, such as civil rights, power structures, different classes in the society, and many more.
When authors bring in what s going on around them into their writing, they are most likely bringing
in political elements as well.
2.What is the political background that can be seen examples such as A Christmas Carol and Rip
Van Winkle ?
The political background in A Christmas Carol is focused on the belief by a British social
thinker, Thomas Malthus, who believes that giving the poor food and basic essential for life will
only lead to the creation of more poor people in the society. Scrooge along with the rest of the
population at the time thought this way, and that s why after the Christmas spirits took Scrooge on
a journey through his past, present, and future, he became a more giving person that wanted to
help the poor instead of looking the other way. Rip Van Winkle had a political statement
considering the monarchy and how like America, a democracy is what is best for the people,
because instead of one, ultimate ruler, the people were allowed to govern themselves.
3.Are individualism and self determination against the needs of society for conformity and stability?
Individualism and self determination are against the needs of society for conformity and stability,
because a society needs people that help out for it to function as a constant, strong society. People
acting on their own will only bring down a society, because a society runs on its people contributing
to it.
Yes, She s a Christ Figure Too (Ch. 14)
1.Why are there Christ figures?
Christ figures in literature can be used for a number of reasons, such as the author wanting to make
a specific point, about the characters sacrifice, their redemption, their hope, and their miracles. The
author may also want to use the Christ figure ironically to make the character and their sacrifice
look smaller, while making the great sacrifice by Jesus Christ much bigger.

Oscula Study of a Sponge Essay
All the sponge parameters measured in our study in between the two discrete depth zones

except from the sponge surface area (Median shallow, deep = 85, 152 cm2, respectively) and
oscular number per sponge area (Median shallow, deep = 0.04, 024 cm2 respectively). Similar to
our study of turbidity in the previous section the parameters given above for the deeper zone was

The most efficient sponge patch at the deep site processed 0.166 cm3 cm 2 s 1 amount of
seawater with 23 oscula collectively pumping. These numbers clearly show that C. reniformis
specimens possessing few numbered large sized osculas, pump more efficiently than sponges
with many small sized oscula. This raises a question in mind; is it better to have single
enormous sized oscule or many smaller sized osculas? Our analysis marks out a discrete large
sized oscule provides a clear advantage on pumping efficiency to the sponges living in the wave
zone, but in the meantime at a cost of maintaining a smaller sized body and perhaps less growth.
The sponge specimens living in the deeper zones compensates this disadvantage by spreading
through a larger surface and forming many oscular openings.
The shallow pristine site, Meteor Bay is generally protected from wave action, but there are
regular storm events throughout the year. Absence of oceanic water currents leaves wave action
as the major source of mixing and water movement. A possible advantage for C. reniformis
specimens to acquire larger sized oscules might be described with the need of catching desired
food particles in a water movement zone affected by wave action. Continuous oscillation of
particles in a wave action could make it harder to catch desired particles for a

For architecture, we will compare the ball courts of Hohokam and that of Mesoamerica.
Significance of ball courts and how it got introduced into the American southwest from
Mesoamerica will be discussed as well. Religion will be analyzed by focusing on the cosmological
beliefs of both groups and the similarities and differences between Mesoamerican cosmology and

The Law Of Comparative Advantage
RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have
the comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory
called the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a
days MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with
countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage
. In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative
advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC.
Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on
comparative advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would
then be the decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would
be traded. The MNC can for example tradeits technology for the accesses to natural resource that
the countries government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became
obvious that the previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the
bargain is operated at a countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow
and favors international trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the
actual trade would be conducted by MNC. As an example

Good Vs Evil By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Throughout the history of literature, there have been several different time periods and each has
a specific aspect that is focused on in works from that era. Usually, they all share this feature and
it can be identified in each, even if the works are written by different authors. They still will have
some kind of similar theme, and the era to be focused on is the age of romanticism. Where there
were several themes that were encompassed in these works, but the main theme was that of good

good vs. evil is extremely prevalent within works from the Romanticism period such as The Scarlet
Letter, Young Goodman Brown, and even in modern day. Good vs Evil is one of the main themes
of the Scarlet Letter which was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, another esteemed author of the
time. This theme is very broad and can be specified, like for example the idea of society as a group
of sinners. In the scarlet letter, when the meteor shoots across the sky whilst Dimmesdale and
Hester, and Pearl are on the platform, the light from the meteor acts as a sort of focus light and
reveals the truth, the fact that they sinned. The scaffold lights up due to Dimmesdale, but
something else happens that is important. The wooden houses, with their jutting stories and quaint
gable peaks; the doorsteps and thresholds, with the early grass springing up about them; the garden

Large Urban Cities In America
Problem Statement
Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we
expand our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning,
water, and lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely
on the combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the
atmosphere which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as
their main aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot
summer days, conventional rooftops can be 27 50В°C hotter than the surrounding air
temperature. This happens because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows
for the sun s energy to be absorbed instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to
urban heat islands (). Increasing higher albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of
solar energy away from the urban areas (). Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green
Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last decade. These rooftops are covered in natural
greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc. Green roofs are cost effective way to solve

The Birds is a short story about birds turning overnight on the humans and killing them or trying

The Substantially Likely Factor
The government has failed to demonstrate that the forced medication of Mr. Whitman against his

defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged

defendant who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting
clear and convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick
defendant well enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123 S. Ct.(2003).

Pros and Cons of the Equal Rights Amendment Essay
Pros and Cons of the Equal Rights Amendment
The Equal Rights Amendment began its earliest discussions in 1920. These discussions took place
immediately after two thirds of the states approved women s suffrage. The nineteenth century was
intertwined with several feminist movements such as abortion, temperance, birth control and
equality. Many lobbyists and political education groups formed in these times. One such
organization is the Eagle Forum, who claims to lead the pro family movement. On the opposite side
of the coin is The National Organization for Women, or NOW, which takes action to better the
position of women in society. Feminism is the most powerful force for change in our time. The

discrimination is not a thing of the past, and the progress of the last forty years is not irreversible
without the protection of an amendment (Francis 1).Feminist claim that The ERA s most valuable

Favorite Characters In The Hiding Place By Corrie Ten Boom
While reading The Hiding Place, I was frequently inspired by the power and insight behind
Corrie ten Boom s words. However, two of her statements particularly stood out to me. The first
was when she had said Some knowledge is too heavy... you cannot bear it...your father will carry
it until you are able. (ten Boom 175) This phrase is so meaningful because it was a lesson she
had learned from her own father when she was young, but now she uses it in her own teaching
and relates it to her heavenly father as well. The second quote that stood out to me was when she
had said His will is our hiding place. Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will. (ten Boom 234) This
statement refers to Corrie s realization of how everything had happened for a reason. This was
her protection or hiding place through the horrors of the concentration camp and her personal
losses. I found these two quotes to be the most perceptive phrases of Corrie s that spoke to me the
most. My favorite character in The Hiding Place would undeniably be Corrie s older sister, Betsie
ten Boom. Betsie ten Boom was portrayed with an incredible sense of optimism and faith that
could shine a light at the darkest of times. Another quality I admired was her merciful heart that
managed to feel sorrow for enemies and be quick to forgive. Betsie s positivity, forgiveness and
faithfulness all contributed to create a remarkable personality and character in this particular novel.

  • 2. Essay on Kiwi Series Kiwi Series #1 My choice of artwork for this essay is titled Kiwi Series # 1. This painting is made by Dennis Wojtkiewicz in 2005. The size of this painting is 36 by 66 inches. The medium used in this painting is the oil on canvas. I chose this painting because it appeals to my sense of aesthetics and also it has the most interesting use of texture. This painting is an excellent example of our sight being able to activate other senses. The presentation of the translucent fruit and fuzzy skin is so convincing that we have a visual and a tactile reaction and for some, a sensation of taste. The painter has used actual texture in this painting. In this essay, I will talk about the subject matter and then the content. I will also be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chiaroscuro is also evident due to the illusion of light and shadow as the light source is coming from the top. Casting shadow on the table. There are areas of strong contrast such as the light color of fruit against the dark background. Sfumato is also evident in this painting. The dark colors of the seeds also create contrast against the light color of the fruit. Also there is contrast of the seeds against the bright area near it. The color is a local color as it replicates the appearance of the real world. The colors are natural. The fruit is green and light green in color. The seeds are black. A slight brown color is also used near the edge of the fruit. The texture is simulated. If someone would touch this painting, they would feel slight bumps of the paint. For the most part, the artist has simulated the texture of the fruit. The background of the painting appears to be smooth. There is not much space in the painting. The figure is right at the forefront of the painting so the painting has shallow space. The background is dark and we could not see anything except the fruit. Principles: The balance in this painting is symmetrical. The right side is very similar to the left side. If I were to draw a line in the middle of this painting, the visual weight on both sides of the painting would be the same. The painting is populated almost the same on both sides. The dominant part in this painting is the half cut kiwi fruit. It occupies almost 85% of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. European Influence On Native Americans Although Native Americans would have grown and prospered after ejecting European colonists from the New World, it would be foolish to assume that European nations would never breach the Americas. While it is true that Europeans would be unable to overpower a fully intact Native American presence, eventually, Europeans would seize the Americasthe same way they conquered not only Africa, but Asia as well. As time passed, technology boomed, and the Industrial Revolution mechanized the European world. With their newly invigorated might, the chasm separating European technology and that of the rest of the world split wider. With innovations including railroads, telegraphs, advanced firearms such as the Gatling gun, steam engines, and sophisticated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These systems required labor in order to operate. Originally, European colonists utilized native labor, but seeing as Native Americans quickly perished as a result of disease, colonists resorted to importing laborers from Africa. The necessity of African slavery in the American colonies became the reason for the largest forced migration in history, as at least 12 million Africans were carried across the Atlantic between the years 1500 and 1860, when the Atlantic slave trade was ended. The Middle Passage, the journey from Africa to the New World across the Atlantic, was responsible for the deaths of nearly 2 million African slaves since slave carrying boats were often filthy and overcrowded, unscrupulously jampacked with human cargo in an effort to utilize the boat s capacity and to increase the efficiency and profit of each trip (Gates). Had Native Americans been immune to European pathogens, they would have prevented any large scale European settlements from occurring in the Americas; therefore, plantations, mines, and other labor intensive projects would be impractical for European explorers, and the necessitation of slave labor would be nonexistent. As a result, the largest forced migration in world history would be avoided. Even after Europe underwent the Industrial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is also a brief description about nursing interventions. Next, two evidence based research papers will be presented. Additionally, there will be a summary on two audiovisual films that focused on bipolar I disorder. Lastly, there is a brief discussion about personal thoughts and feelings about bipolar I disorder. Introduction When people are asked what bipolar I disorder (BD) is, they often describe someone as being psychotic, having drastic mood changes, being depressed then super happy, and the list is endless. Often, individuals who suffer with BD are stigmatized and discriminated. The following piece is part of a poem called You and Me written by Debbie Sesula, ...If you get angry / You re considered upset/ If I get angry/ I m considered dangerous. / If you over react to something/ You re sensitive/ If I over react to something/ I m out of control... BD is not well understood by society and it is unfortunate that individuals who have this disorder often isolate themselves and feel ashamed. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the effects that culture, race, and class have on human s behaviors, resilience, struggles and faith. . The cross culture countries of analysis will be Guyana and Portugal which are situated at two opposite ends of the world. Which makes this comparison even more compelling? According to the text Understanding Human Differences by Koppelman stated For every talent that poverty has stimulated it has blighted a hundred (p. 264). Secondly, the difference that was recognizable was the religious aspect. Even though Claudio was raised a Roman Catholic and I an Anglican, we both believe in the same God. Our views on heaven and hell totally differ relating to religious beliefs. From my perspective I, believe in heaven and a hell. Coupled with, being accountable to someone when you depart this world. As the saying goes, everyone was put on this earth for a reason and we as individuals should achieve and accomplished the purpose we were meant to achieve. If for some reason, we did not achieve our purpose while we were on earth, then there should be consequences for our actions or missteps when our souls depart this earth. Claudio on the other hand, whose early years were deeply engrossed in becoming a priest, has drawn a connection from his own life experience. For instance, he seems to come to the conclusion that there is a heaven, but not a hell. He also elaborated that the persecution that humans endure during their lifetime on earth is the hell we sometimes describes when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is utmost one of the most important days in the History of America as it signaled the birth of a new nation. In today s context it signals a peaceful exchange of power in the most disruptive of times. The speech is primarily given out to the citizens of the United States, who need to know what the future holds for them; Now in a world of globalization and foreign policy this speech is paid attention to throughout the world. All Inaugural addresses are similar. First they start with their greeting, then examine the state of the nation, the newly elected President presents the issues of the country and the plan to solve them. After the President draws upon powerful lessons and rhetoric to bring inspiration to the American people and finally closes off to end the address. President Obama was no stranger to that as he has done that, like every President before him, not once but twice, in 2009 and 2013. • 8. The Death Of The Black Death Fear. Uncertainty. Survival. These three words became synonymous with life in Western Europe during the period of the Black Death. This grim period represents a dark era in European history when a devastating outbreak resulted in a significant amount of instability, decline in population, and economic, political and cultural upheaval. In the face of this terrifying calamity, human judgement was put to the test as fear and uncertainty made people react to the plague in extreme ways. Socially, the lack of understanding of the real cause of the plague and its widespread reach made people adopt drastic measures to combat it. Religious beliefs and superstitions also played a major role in the way people reacted to the plague as many believed that the plague was a punishment for their sins. The outbreak also brought to the surface human weaknesses such as greed and indulgence as people tried to take advantage of the situation for their personal gain. Even today, society faces turmoil as a result of disease, as in the case of Ebola, which caused significant amount of mayhem and fear in the beginning when it could not be contained. The Black Deathresulted in an extraordinary amount of fear and uncertainty in society as hundreds were dying each day from a disease that people could neither understand nor control. Due to this lack of understanding people began to isolate themselves and treat the infected with cruelty and indifference. This is evident from the account of Giovan ... NIC recently released second quarter 2017 data that displayed several interesting points: The largest inventory growth for Seniors Housing in a single quarter since NIC MAP began its reporting in fourth quarter 2005. These changes will find their way into every market how will independent owners be prepared to react? Absorption and the question of market penetration Much of the decline in occupancy has been attributed to the massive influx of new units brought to the market. Over the previous year, more than 22,000 units were added to the Seniors Housing stock. Of those 22,000 units, only 15,000 have been absorbed to date. The second quarter of 2017 alone brought online approximately 6,000 units the largest quarterly increase in new units since NIC began collecting data. While stabilized communities (facilities older than two years or if less have already reached 95%+ occupancy levels) continue to show strong occupancy levels (90.4% nationally), the influx of inventory will eventually work its way into affecting occupancy at older stock as newer Seniors Housing residents will have a choice between providers. Capital Listens While acquisition and development capital will always analyze deals on a local level, troubling national headlines relating to low occupancy could cause capital s purse strings to tighten. Because body and mind are one and the same both these views are wrong just on principle, but if we delve deeper the view that abortion end the life and thus shouldn t be considered murder is obviously the more harmful of the two. But it is especially harmful because this view separates the mind from the body and thus supports the pro abortionists view that the baby is just a bunch of cells and isn t sentient. And the second view is harmful, but not quite as harmful as the first. The second view marginalizes what happens during abortion, by saying that because the mind is causally affected by what happens to the body that the act is harmful is different then saying the act ... • 28. My Favorite Character In The Taming Of The Shrew Taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you assignment. Who is your favourite character? My favourite character in the taming of the shrew is tranio because although he is not a antagonist like petruchio, lucentio or the sisters he is the character that the play relies on. The plot of the taming of the shrew consists of a man named petruchio marrying a woman named Katherine so that another man named lucentio can marry Katherines younger sister Bianca. Tranio is a great help to this play by convincing lucentio to go and find some girls in the first place and he also convinces the sisters father babtista that he is lucentio so that lucentio can follow his love Bianca. Tranio does not marry by the end of the play although he is a great help to lucentio giving him great ideas during his peruse of love like convincing him to pretend to be a teacher named Cambio to get closer to Bianca. The reason I like tranio best is because he is very selfless and devoted to lucentio and his plans. 2. Write a love poem or sonnet from the perspective of Petruchio. (100 words) Katherine my dearest, You are to me as fish are to the sea, swimming and wading let our love never start fading. We will live together as we age, we will never break after any rage, we will only grow stronger like a steel cage. I am sorry for any damage that will be done, I knew our love would sprout after our relationship had begun, I just hope we never stop having fun. Katherine my feelings for you are unexplainable, if my feelings for you were words they would be unattainable, Katherine let our love never be detainable for I will never hold you down. I will only let you have what you need and if you need me then I will let you roam free, free in our free love as we are prisoners being let free leaving our chain, embracing our pain and joining each other in forevermore. Sincerely petruchio. 3. Is Taming of the shrew a sexist play? (200 words) I believe that the taming of the shrew was an early adaption of a feminists story. There are sometimes subtle and hidden hints in the taming of the shrew that point out to feminists and sexist topics. Some of these topics are that Katherine before she is made more normal and how a woman should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Political Elements In A Christmas Carol And Rip Van Carolol It s All Political (Ch. 13) 1.Why does nearly all writing contain political elements? Nearly all writing contains political elements, because an author usually includes the world around them when writing. Authors will embrace society in their writing by showing the political injustices, such as civil rights, power structures, different classes in the society, and many more. When authors bring in what s going on around them into their writing, they are most likely bringing in political elements as well. 2.What is the political background that can be seen examples such as A Christmas Carol and Rip Van Winkle ? The political background in A Christmas Carol is focused on the belief by a British social thinker, Thomas Malthus, who believes that giving the poor food and basic essential for life will only lead to the creation of more poor people in the society. Scrooge along with the rest of the population at the time thought this way, and that s why after the Christmas spirits took Scrooge on a journey through his past, present, and future, he became a more giving person that wanted to help the poor instead of looking the other way. Rip Van Winkle had a political statement considering the monarchy and how like America, a democracy is what is best for the people, because instead of one, ultimate ruler, the people were allowed to govern themselves. 3.Are individualism and self determination against the needs of society for conformity and stability? Individualism and self determination are against the needs of society for conformity and stability, because a society needs people that help out for it to function as a constant, strong society. People acting on their own will only bring down a society, because a society runs on its people contributing to it. Yes, She s a Christ Figure Too (Ch. 14) 1.Why are there Christ figures? Christ figures in literature can be used for a number of reasons, such as the author wanting to make a specific point, about the characters sacrifice, their redemption, their hope, and their miracles. The author may also want to use the Christ figure ironically to make the character and their sacrifice look smaller, while making the great sacrifice by Jesus Christ much bigger. ... • 30. Oscula Study of a Sponge Essay All the sponge parameters measured in our study in between the two discrete depth zones revealed a clear statistical difference and consistently higher values for the shallow location except from the sponge surface area (Median shallow, deep = 85, 152 cm2, respectively) and oscular number per sponge area (Median shallow, deep = 0.04, 024 cm2 respectively). Similar to our study of turbidity in the previous section the parameters given above for the deeper zone was higher for the sponges with lesser pumping rates, but this difference observed to be eminent for the depth comparison (Table 4). The comparative study of shallow and deep locations at the two pristine sites of southern side of Bodrum Peninsula showed that there is a high chance of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most efficient sponge patch at the deep site processed 0.166 cm3 cm 2 s 1 amount of seawater with 23 oscula collectively pumping. These numbers clearly show that C. reniformis specimens possessing few numbered large sized osculas, pump more efficiently than sponges with many small sized oscula. This raises a question in mind; is it better to have single enormous sized oscule or many smaller sized osculas? Our analysis marks out a discrete large sized oscule provides a clear advantage on pumping efficiency to the sponges living in the wave zone, but in the meantime at a cost of maintaining a smaller sized body and perhaps less growth. The sponge specimens living in the deeper zones compensates this disadvantage by spreading through a larger surface and forming many oscular openings. The shallow pristine site, Meteor Bay is generally protected from wave action, but there are regular storm events throughout the year. Absence of oceanic water currents leaves wave action as the major source of mixing and water movement. A possible advantage for C. reniformis specimens to acquire larger sized oscules might be described with the need of catching desired food particles in a water movement zone affected by wave action. Continuous oscillation of particles in a wave action could make it harder to catch desired particles for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Law Of Comparative Advantage RICARDO proved in 1817 that when every countries specialized in the element where they have the comparative advantage, and then trades those element, all countries are better off. This theory called the law of comparative advantage became the primary reason for international trade. Now a days MNC are the primary actors of international trade, and the bargaining model that they use with countries government can appear as a practical implementation of the law of comparative advantage . In fact Dunning, J. H. (2000) estimate that competitive advantage which is a type of comparative advantage is at the heart of company motivation and ability to operate internationally as an MNC. Besides Ramamurti, R. (2001) suggest that the traditional bargaining model is based on comparative advantage that the MNC and state have respectively. The bargaining process would then be the decision process through which each party express which comparative advantage would be traded. The MNC can for example tradeits technology for the accesses to natural resource that the countries government possess. Ramamurti (2001) also emphasize the point that it became obvious that the previous process is only a part of the actual bargain and that another part of the bargain is operated at a countries level (between host and home country), this step actually allow and favors international trade between those countries, but at the hour of the liberalization the actual trade would be conducted by MNC. • 35. Good Vs Evil By Nathaniel Hawthorne Throughout the history of literature, there have been several different time periods and each has a specific aspect that is focused on in works from that era. Usually, they all share this feature and it can be identified in each, even if the works are written by different authors. They still will have some kind of similar theme, and the era to be focused on is the age of romanticism. Where there were several themes that were encompassed in these works, but the main theme was that of good vs evil. This one theme acts as an umbrella for many others that fall underneath it. The theme of good vs. evil is extremely prevalent within works from the Romanticism period such as The Scarlet Letter, Young Goodman Brown, and even in modern day. Good vs Evil is one of the main themes of the Scarlet Letter which was written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, another esteemed author of the time. This theme is very broad and can be specified, like for example the idea of society as a group of sinners. In the scarlet letter, when the meteor shoots across the sky whilst Dimmesdale and Hester, and Pearl are on the platform, the light from the meteor acts as a sort of focus light and reveals the truth, the fact that they sinned. The scaffold lights up due to Dimmesdale, but something else happens that is important. • 36. Large Urban Cities In America Problem Statement Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days, conventional rooftops can be 27 50В°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas (). Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc. Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas (). To protect the liberty interests of defendants who are initially too ill to stand trial, the Supreme Court implemented the four pronged Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick defendant who has not consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting clear and convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick defendant well enough to stand trial. These discussions took place immediately after two thirds of the states approved women s suffrage. The nineteenth century was intertwined with several feminist movements such as abortion, temperance, birth control and equality. Many lobbyists and political education groups formed in these times. One such organization is the Eagle Forum, who claims to lead the pro family movement. • 42. Favorite Characters In The Hiding Place By Corrie Ten Boom While reading The Hiding Place, I was frequently inspired by the power and insight behind Corrie ten Boom s words. However, two of her statements particularly stood out to me. The first was when she had said Some knowledge is too heavy... you cannot bear it...your father will carry it until you are able. (ten Boom 175) This phrase is so meaningful because it was a lesson she had learned from her own father when she was young, but now she uses it in her own teaching and relates it to her heavenly father as well. The second quote that stood out to me was when she had said His will is our hiding place. Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will. (ten Boom 234) This statement refers to Corrie s realization of how everything had happened for a reason. This was her protection or hiding place through the horrors of the concentration camp and her personal losses. I found these two quotes to be the most perceptive phrases of Corrie s that spoke to me the most. My favorite character in The Hiding Place would undeniably be Corrie s older sister, Betsie ten Boom. Betsie ten Boom was portrayed with an incredible sense of optimism and faith that could shine a light at the darkest of times. Another quality I admired was her merciful heart that managed to feel sorrow for enemies and be quick to forgive. Betsie s positivity, forgiveness and faithfulness all contributed to create a remarkable personality and character in this particular novel. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
