The Downward Spiral Analysis
In 1994, Nine Inch Nails released a dark, desolate album called The Downward Spiral. The songs
are known to alternate violently between too low volumes with sweet melody (along with that
soft ragged voice characteristic of grunge) and too high volumes with many layers of white
noise, screaming, and distortion layered over hard rock instrumentals (Gold). The message of the
album is as disturbing as the audio: It tracks the narrator s path of self destruction through
attempting to find satisfaction in religion, sex, and drug abuse ( Interview ). The album, while
rife with emotional significance on its own, acts as both a prophecy and a cry for help. It
followed a junkie s painful lifestyle, the addiction and abuse functioning solely as a metaphor for
Reznor s internal strife ( Interview ). But soon after releasing The Downward Spiral, Reznor would
turn to drugs and alcohol, later surviving a heroin overdose in the... Show more content on

The first lyric sets the tone for the whole song: I hurt myself today/To see if I still feel . That first
verse later goes on to describe the narrator s usage of drugs (likely heroin): The needle tears a
hole/The old familiar sting . The verse as a whole describes a sense of hopelessness: the man
hurt himself (either indirectly through drugs or by actually inflicting pain), uses the pain and
high to try to forget his situation, but apparently still remembers everything. The narrator is
disgusted with how everything has turned out, and asks in a refrain, What have I become? He
is miserable, and considers his life and accomplishments (his empire of dirt ) worthless. To mark the
very end of this sorrowful soliloquy, Reznor softly adds If I could start again/ A million miles away
/ I would keep myself/ I would find a way . If he could start his life over, he wouldn t have done it

The Pros And Cons Of Fairtrade
Imagine your a coffee farmer from Columbia, you love your plants and fields. You have spent
virtually your whole life tilling and caring for everything encompassed by your farm. However
when you go to sell your beans, that love you put into your work doesn t translate to good pay. In
fact your paid so low for your product that you have to choose between taking care of your
family or taking care of your crop for next year. Now implant FairTrade into the mix and you will
see a happy farmer getting paid higher prices. Over the course of this paper we will be
discussing FairTrade. What it is and how it works while also covering negatives and positives to
the FairTrade experience, starting with. So what is FairTrade and how does it work? FairTrade
started out as the Alternative Trade Organization back in the 1950s. Essentially they worked to cut
out the middle man which meant more money to the farmer. (Lamb, 2016) The problem is farmers
sell their product to one buyer who then sells it to another, this process loops numerous times until
our coffeebean is ground and poured into a mug. This means the farmer is forced to pay by taking a
very small sales price.
Now over the course of time the Alternative Trade Organization began to morph and change first
adapting a label to identify FairTrade products. But also requiring an entity to certify and ... Show

Another major issue has been the certifying process, since many of these farmers live in rural
areas that are hard to reach. Some have said that the certifying process has missed farms that were
using child labor and unauthorized farming techniques.(Lamb, 2016) This could lead to products
being listed as organic and not really being so, child labor would go against everything FairTrade

The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States
Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect stakeholders.
Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially
accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal
individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering
the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is
utilitarianism. If the benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior
is considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism and is
embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,... Show more content on

A company incorporating structures to guide executives that considers all the variables began with
Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson Johnson. In 1934, he wrote a credo which became a structure for
other organizations to consider. The statement described that their responsibility was to all users of
their products, and that the stockholders should realize a fair return without doing harm to a
consumer (Johnson Johnson, 1943). These principles established ethical guidelines for Johnson
Johnson and a model for other industries. В¬The United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S.
Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 helped
companies to become socially responsible (De George, 2015). Ethics and social responsibilities are
evident with British Petroleum s handling of the Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010, and Toyota
Motor Corporation s attempt to create an eco friendly vehicle. Utilitarianism was exhibited by BP
and moral idealism was Toyota s motive to produce environmentally green vehicles. British
Petroleum redesigned their name to make it more environmentally friendly, it was changed to
Beyond Petroleum, which professed their focus on renewable energy not just hydrocarbons, and
promoted a pro social marketing plan (Balmer et al., 2011). In 2008, they defined their sustainable

diminished the coreviewers expectation. But more often what usually follows are extremely
memorable moments that wrapped the remaining season in comedic gold. Even when the internet

The Key Concepts Within Modern File Systems
2Abstract
This essay will discuss the key concepts within modern file systems, ranging from simply defining
what a filesystem is, to detailing what exactly a file consists of. Historical developments within file
systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be
described.
3Introduction
Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and
either stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. Finally Procrustes was forced
onto his own bed by Thesius.
A similar Procrustean technique was applied to filesystems and data storage for many years.

By separating the data into identifiable blocks, the information can be easily located. (1) Each
grouping of data, which takes its name from the method of organising paper based information, is
referred to as a file . The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a
directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3)
Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a
network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2)
A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a
disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to
store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say
this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three
filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an
incredibly important difference between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains.
Some programs will operate directly on sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or
seriously corrupt any current filesystem. However, most programs operate at the filesystem level,
and subsequently will not operate correctly on a disk or partition that either does not contain a

Characteristics Of New England Colonies
When established, the British colonies had three divisions which are New England, Middle, and the
Southern. Each of these geographic regions had some developments which were unique and
different from other sectors. Some of the stark differences were because of geopolitical, religious,
economic, and social factors. Although all regions were marked by tremendous growth, they
experienced differences in their management style and trading pact. The New England Colonies
included the colonies of Connecticut, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations,
Massachusetts, and Province of New Hampshire. The colonies were where the Englishmen settled
and lived. Their economy, religion, and politics grew gradually due to various factors which include
the community setting where lands were separated into small portions. The settlers of the New
England traded sugar and molasses with other parts of the world. Also, this colony practiced
subsistence farming where they produced enough food for their family need. Before farming, these
colonies had small scale factories and built ships to improve their economy. They were Puritans.
They formed this religion after freeing from the Church of England. The colony also had
communities that lived close to each other and watched out on their fellows. As a result, the
Puritans lived longer and able to maintain their traditions. Politically, the colonies had the concept
of self government through the elections and the appointments. The Middle

Intolerance in the Chrysalids by John Wyndham Essay
Intolerance in the Chrysalids by John Wyndham
The Chrysalids was by John Wyndham. It Involves Children that have ESP (Extra Sensory
Perception) living in a community that does not tolerate differences. They are eventually found
out and escape to Sealand (New Zealand). All societies in this novel practice intolerance in one
way or another, even though Wyndham doesn t approve of it. We see it with the Norms, the
Fringes, the Sealanders and even people of today. I feel this was a great way of depicting
intolerance.
Intolerance is most visible in this novel with the Waknuk civilization. You could also say that the
Strorm family is one of the most intolerable families there. David didn t have a lot of ... Show more

The most horrible example was when someone who was different was banished from there
community to the fringes. You would think they would have toned it down a little bit after David s
aunt committed suicide; she committed suicide because she gave birth to
mutant baby, and did not want to be found out. This is horrible example of the intolerant nature of
the Norms.
Intolerance, surprisingly enough, was also practiced in the fringes. The people who lived in the
fringes were intolerant towards the people of Waknuk. They felt anyone without a type of
mutation or difference was inferior to them. An example of this is when Rosalind is fleeing the
town with all the ESP children. Rosalind still had a cross on her dress from Waknuk, which was
a sign that she was a true human , and was only worn by the norms. Because she had ESP she
wasn t considered a true human . W hen they were running away Sophie told Rosalind that if
anyone from the Fringes saw that cross they would reject her; this is because they reject the norms.
This is an example of intolerance on the people of the Fringes part.
The people from Sealand or New Zealand were also guilty of intolerance. All the people who lived
there had ESP; they could read each others mind to a certain degree. Because of this they have a
sense of arrogance about there

As insignificant as 4% may seem, it has a very large impact on forensics and the entire criminal
justice system. When DNA tests become invalidated, the test can no longer be relied on to be
accurate. Forensics relies on the total accuracy of their test. When a test s accuracy cannot be
verified, it cannot be used as evidence. With all of the data that laboratories have to process, how
can the accuracy of the data be checked? In 2009, there were an estimated 26 million Child ID Kits
distributed by the National Child Identification Program alone. For the safety of their children,
more and more parents are turning to forensic analysis to protect their families. In each of the

Percent Copper In Brass
Percent Copper in Brass
I. Introduction Have you ever been to any orchestra show or home improvement store before? If
you have, I m sure you have seen those fancy gold colored instruments or fancy door knobs or
faucets from the home improvement store. Have you ever wondered what they are made up of?
They are made up with the binary alloy called brass. Brass is a binary alloy made up of copper and
zinc with an additional amount of lead and tin(Brass in Focus, Angela Vessey,2004). Its density
is known as 8.3 to 8.7 g/cm3, and melting point is 1652 to 1724 В°F(Bell,2017). The
characteristics of the brass are varied on the amount of zinc and copper. The higher amount of
zinc seems to be cast easier while the lower amount of zinc can be cold worked easier; high
amounts of copper allow the brass to form a patina, coating of the thin oxide ... Show more content

In real world, we use Beer s law to find out the amount of copper or zinc in the brass. The most
accurate way to find the amount of copper is by drawing a calibration curve. When a calibration
curve is a straight line, we represent it using y=ОІ0+ОІ1x where y is the signal, Sstd, and x is the
analyte concentration, Cstd. The constants ОІ0 and ОІ1 are, respectively, the calibration curve s
expected y intercept and its expected slope. Because of uncertainty in our measurements, the best
we can do is to estimate values for ОІ0 and ОІ1, which we represent as b0 and b1. The goal of a
linear regression analysis is to determine the best estimates for b0 and b1. How we do this
depends on the uncertainty in our measurements(Harvey,2016). Meanwhile, all the brasses share
same characteristics of malleability and ductility. All the brasses are capable of being shaped and
can be drawn into a wire(Brass in focus, Angela Vessey,2004). In the real world, brass is used for
decoration, mechanical applications, as well as for musical instruments. Depends on the copper
percentage in brass,

Kill Bill Volume 1 Aesthetics
Each person will make for himself the kind of nude he wants, with the nude that I will have made
for him. He ll put everything where it belongs, with his own eyes (Picasso, 2009). This is what the
term aesthetic is; an individual s set of ideas about style and taste, along with its expression.
Aesthetics has the role to enhance any visual object, appliance, theme and concept, inducing the
trust and relationship of form and content within a viewer or audience of a film or production. To
fully understand how the role of aestheticsfurthers a theme or concept of a narrative we must look
at the medium of film and its scenographic elements. These elements contribute to establishing an
atmosphere and mood for a film or theatrical presentation (Eagan,... Show more content on

The quality, intensity and direction of lighting can influence an audience s understanding of a films
characters, actions, themes and mood. The colour of the lighting can also hold thematic relevance
like in the film Kill Bill Volume 1 where one of the crazy 88 members run through a red hallway.
This red is used throughout the entire film and represents danger (Kill Bill Volume 1, 2003). This
explanation is supported by the fact that the antagonists of the scene all emerge from this red
hallway proving the danger. Highlighted lighting in a film, for example, call attention to shapes and
textures, while shadows often conceal things, creating a sense of mystery or fear. For this reason,
lighting must be thoroughly planned in advance to ensure its desired effect on an audience.
Lighting can make a scene feel happy, sad, mysterious or even dangerous hence furthering the
concept portrayed in a film without even needing dialogue from the actors. Lighting in its entirety
plays a huge role in the aesthetic of a film as it creates the context furthering the concept in which
the entire film happens (G., 2000). It has an impact on acting, production design, costuming,
editing, makeup, visual effects, the plot and

One such example can be found in Lorraine Hansberry s play A Raisin in the Sun when Walter
Younger demeaned Beneatha s doctoral career choice. Walter had other views on what a womanhis
sister s age should do with her life: Who the hell told you you had to be a doctor? If you so crazy
bout messing round with sick people then go be a nurse like other women or just get married
and be quiet (Hansberry 1.1). Walter stands as an emblem of society during the 1950s, the time
period of the play, because in his perspective, a woman is not capable of doing a man s job;
therefore, if Beneatha were to become a doctor generally an occupation dominated by males for
many years she would defy gender stereotypes and act as a detriment against one of civilization s
strongest social constructs: gender. Walter, and many others, would much rather have Beneatha
remain silent and undereducated merely because she is a woman. He would prefer Beneatha take
a job that is for women, a nurse, because it is a position subordinate to a doctor s.
Not surprisingly, gender inequality also existed before A Raisin in the Sun. Harper Lee s thought
provoking novel To Kill a Mockingbird is known for its harsh, yet very accurate, portrayal of life
for people plagued by oppression during the 1930s. Through the eyes of a young, innocent girl

Wife Of Bath Feminism Essay
Feminism in the Wife of Bath Prologue In her prologue from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey
Chaucer, the Wife of Bath portrays a different take on the typical medieval woman. By doing so
she is confirming negative stereotypes about women from this time and demonstrating that they
are in fact deceitful and manipulative. Although at first her actions may seem revolutionary, she
is just a tool used by Chaucer to mock women during this time period rather than empower them.
Even just based solely on the way she is introduced in her prologue, she appears as if she uses her
sexual attributes for personal gain instead of trying to show her equal status. Overall this female
character is supposed to be seen as a parody since she embodies numerous negative female
stereotypes such as, deceitfulness, stupidity, and arrogance. Even though she is retaliating back at

In other words, she is conforming to the patriarchy rather than working outside of it and so she
only ends up confirming the negative stereotypes of women, especially since most of the
insights she offers are misunderstood, twisted, or just simply incorrect. For example, at one
point she refers to the Bible again, saying, Where can ye saye in any manere age / That hye God
defended marriage / By expres word? I praye you, telleth me / Or where he commanded virginitee?
(lines 65 68). She is justifying her bad behavior with the Bible and her misinterpretations of it and
this makes her appear dumb rather than educated. It confirms the stereotype of medieval women
that they are not as capable at understanding the mysteries and deep meanings of the Bible and that
if they are given education on the matter they would only use it to justify their sinful

Nicholas Romanov II Research Paper
Nicholas Romanov II was born on the 18 May 1868 and came into reign in 1894 becoming Tsar
of Russia, continuing the Romanov rule since 1613. His coronation celebrations saw huge

Swan Lake Essay
This performance is usually presented in 4 Acts (this one 3). The acts are separated by a brief pause
and a change of setting. Swan Lake tells a vivid story capturing the audience s attention through the
elaborate use of choreographic design and style. The subtle transitions from intense high tempo to
moderate help to map out the story that is being told in an exciting fashion. The first act consists of
9 dances total, starting at a moderato assai style then subsequently ending in a mandate. The slight
accent throughout the beginning helps to build the suspense and keep the viewer intrigued. This is
followed by strategic grand movement with jumps then consistent but large movements all over the
stage. The young black shirted man is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of cliffhangers between acts kept me intrigued the whole time wondering what was
next. There wasn t many times during the production where I was distracted into doing
something else or not paying attention. Out of all the intense moments during the dances, the
one that evoked the most emotion out of me was in the final act when the white man finally
faced the man in black. The story had seemed to build up to that most of the time and it seemed
inevitable. I was interested to see the color of the swans slowly shifting darker and darker as the
final act played out. I remember specifically wondering if the swans wanted to be turned into the
black swans, or if they were siding with the man in white. The fast paced ending and body
language of the dancers suggested the swans were happy with being saved from the man in
black, and that was evident as the production came to a close. This part of the story reminds me
of any general scenario when someone is being peer pressured. No one seems to speak up and the
consequences of everyone else drive the actions of the single person. None of the swans really had
control of being changed, but they certainly didn t fight it either. I believe this draws a valuable
picture for anyone witnessing and highlights the major theme as

Emergency Medical Technician Research Paper
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured in

Emergency medical technicians play a big role in early stages of emergency situations. Without

There are many responsibilities that go along with the day to day work of an EMT. Some
include determining the right course of action after evaluating the patient s condition, and
providing medical aid to stabilize the patient s condition, like using the AED, performing CPR,
preventing spinal damage, ventilation, control severe bleeding, prevent shock, and bandage
wounds. EMTs also have to administer activated charcoal, oral glucose, narcan and oxygen.
They also have to make sure they transport the patient carefully and safely. They also have to
prepare a patient care reports and calm and assure the patient s family. If you are an Advanced
EMT or Paramedic, you must also know how to use an EKG, and know how to give medication
orally, and Paramedics must know how to give medication through the skin. The conditions and
environment that EMTs work in are all different so they can become injured or sick, if safety
procedures are not followed. They may also become sick or injured because the patient is
diseased, because of heavy lifting, or because you have to endanger themselves to get to the

Who Is The Protagonist In Othello
The fiery openness of Othello, magnanimous, artless, and credulous, boundless in his confidence,
ardent in his affection, inflexible in his resolution, and obdurate in his revenge3 (Johnson, 1795)
Indeed, the above statement is sufficient to synopses the character of Othello but It also plays the
vital role in observing the gradual drastic change in the personality of protagonist.
It has been observed that the personality of the protagonist Othello depicted in the first two acts of

Later on, the exceptional and boundless love and affection of Othello for his beloved Desdemona
is variedly scattered in the play, which become one of the major trait of Othello s personality. The
power and the strength of their love totally cultivated an armed man into a passionate lover.
Othello does not only love the physical appearance of Desdemona but he fall in love with the

Antibiotics In The 1940 s
Antibiotics have played an essential role in the fight against diseases and infections since the 1940
s. Antibiotics are a leading cause for the rise of global average life expectancy in the 20th and 21st

antibiotics in the 1940 s, like penicillininto clinical practice, formally deadly illnesses became

Little research has been done on human superbugs but even less on antibiotic resistance in animals
and whether the bacteria can be passed on to humans (Press Release 1998). The problem with the
growing number of bacteria that are resistance to available antibiotics, is that there are very few
new antibiotics in development. The financial costs of creating newer and stronger antibiotics are
exceedingly high. Pharmaceutical manufactures either don t have the money or refuse to because
of the small amount of profit they will make from these one off drugs. Research institutes are
another option for new antibiotics but also don t have the sufficient financial support (Kesselheim

complete isolation. The cost of this intensive care for long periods of time is phenomenal. With
growing rates of resistance cases more isolation units are going to be in need which will cost
governments hundreds, even thousands of dollars to provide (Lansing 2011). The economic
factors of antibiotic resistance for developing world countries are worrying. Some counties health
systems have no where near enough financial support or staff members to help the number of

The Importance Of Extracurricular Activities
Many students at all levels of education are involved in extracurricular activities they are a core part
of the educational experience. But,are they helpful or harmful to students education. To further look
at this issue my group and I decided to reasearch this topic to find out if there was a correlation
between extracurricular activites and student success. Going into this topic our hypothesis was.If a
student participates in extracurricular activities then the student is more likely to succeed in school.
To gather data we created a survey. This survey included five questions, three strongly agree to
strongly disagree, one yes/no question, and one multiple choice question. We surveyed 44 students
both male and female students grades ninth to eleventh as we felt that in these grades students
would be most involved in extracurricular activities.
The first question on the survey was. Do you participate in extracurricular activities? Which from
the people surveyed was a unanimous yes. This was expected due to the sheer number of people
who participate in extracurricular activities as well as the variety of extracurricular activities.
Question two. How much time a day do you speand participating in extracurricular activites? For
this question in general both males and females from all the grades on average said three to four
hours which was fairly expected as three to four hours is a long amount of time but not long as the
other choice five to six hours or as short as one to two

When Harry Potter was gaining attention from all over the globe, a select amount of Catholics

Curley and Slim in Of Mice and Men
Of Mice and Men , written by John Steinbeck, is a novel set in 1930s California and tells the
story of two migrant workers, George Milton and Lennie Small, who move from ranch to ranch
looking for work during the Great Depression. This novel is set while George and Lennie are in
a small working ranch in the Salinas Valley of northern California, and over a period of 3 days
we are introduced to a variety of characters that also live on the ranch. This essay will show how
Steinbeck develops and presents two of the minor characters; Curley, the boss son, and Slim, the

Steinbeck says that Slim is the prince of the ranch and that he moved with a majesty only
achieved by royalty. Steinbeck s deliberate use of the word prince instantly shows us that Slim is
the usurper of Curley s position: Curley, as the son of the king of the ranch should, technically,
be known as the prince , yet Slim has been accepted as this. Steinbeck uses the Stetson hat to
show Slim s status, as the hat symbolises a crown. We begin to get an understanding of why
Curley is jealous of Slim; Slim is everything Curley wishes to be. Steinbeck always talks of Slim
with dignity, majesty and respect, and manages to show how talented he is by using an
ascending tri colon to talk about Slims difficult job as a jerkline skinner. He was capable of
driving ten, sixteen, even twenty mules with a single line to the leaders. This heightens the
impressiveness of Slims skilled work, and could be interpreted as Slim was a hard worker, who
had achieved his authoritative position by being skilled at the hardest job on the farm. However,
Steinbeck could also be saying that the mules represent the ranchers, and that Slim is able to
control and lead all the ranchers using the littlest force possible, as opposed to Curleys harsh and
more physical attempts at controlling them. Steinbeck also says there was gravity in his [Slims]
manner. The use of the word gravity is interesting because it could be perceived as saying that his
manner was serious and solemn, but on the

work the other way as well the specimen with the fur coat may not be able to defend its self from

for the preparation stages. Psychological Preparation begins when a prisoner crosses a

Pikeminnow Recovery Case Study
Each policy has issues or points that are not agreed upon by everyone entirely. Although there
were several issues with Section 7, the specific issue was the uncertainty that came with gauging
the goals of the recovery program along with the issue that the goals of the program were not
specific with location or amount. Criteria for gauging the progress of the goals were not clear.
For example, Brunner et al. stated that a recovery goal for the Colorado pikeminnow was to
maintain and protect self sustaining populations and natural habitat. The issue with this is that
there was no concrete way to measure if the pikeminnow populations were actually self

attempting to cover was so larger that it was difficult to determine who would be responsible for
fish recovery or inadequate progress in the recovery. Several agencies and groups were

users failed to provide 10,850 acre feet/year, split between the east and west slope, follow up of the

Government Highline Canal, which was turned into a new Palisade pipeline. It was decided that
the best way to maximize the efficiency of the Canal was to construct several check dams along
the canal. This helps maintain water levels in order to make deliveries to high headgates on a rotated

Wisconsin Fast Plants Grow Experiment
In this experiment we are testing the effect of fertilizer on the speed of plant growth. We
prepared a 4 quad cell, 1 control group and 3 experimental groups. So, we had one with no
fertilizer, one with three seeds of fertilizer, one with six seeds of fertilizer, and lastly, one with
nine seeds of fertilizer. The plants that we grew were called Wisconsin Fast Plants, members of
the crucifer family. These plants are small and easy to grow, but for optimal growth they require
continuous fertilizer, water, fluorescent light, and temperature between 18 degrees Celsius and 26
degrees Celsius 24 hours a day. Fertilizers are substances that are put into soils to increase the
growth of the plant. There are two different types of fertilizers, synthetic... Show more content on

Beforehand, I believed that, if fertilizer speeds the growth of plants, then the 9 pellets of
fertilizer were going to make the biggest plant the fastest. I thought this because it would have
the most fertilizer and if fertilizer speeds up the growth of plants then 9 must speed it up the
most. However, I was not completely right with my initial prediction. My personal data came to
the conclusion that the 3 pellets made the plant grow the fastest but in the class data by the end
the average data showed that 9 pellets showed the most growth. This experiment was set up as
four different plant seeds in four different quadrants. Each of the four quadrants had a different
amount of fertilizer. We watered them and planted them in soil then every week we checked in on
our plants. We measured the size if the plants and then recorded it and put them back under the
fluorescent light. Then everyone recorded their data and we watched the class data on average,
then the last day we measured the mass of the plants and found the class data. So although my
prediction of 9 pellets of fertilizer creating the most growth was true in the class data, it was not
true in my individual

Research Methodology Used For Research
Research Methodology Introduction
This chapter discusses the methodology used for this research. Describing type of methodology in
research study and define the chosen method and approach for this research. Then, the outline of
research strategy used, framework this research conducted and data sources collected to obtain
valid and reliable research as the objective determined. Review of Research of Methodology
Broadly speaking, there are several purpose of research. It depends on the objective of the research
itself. First, research is conducted to get review from existing knowledge. Second, to investigate the
problem and existing situation. Third, to provide solutions to problems. Fourth, to explore and
analyse more general issues. Next, to construct or create new procedures or systems. After that, to
explain new phenomenon. Then, to generate new knowledge. Otherwise, combination of any
previous purposes. The purpose of research will determine the suitable method used to get the
objective.
Type of research
In general, research works commonly classified into four categories, namely: exploratory,
descriptive, analytical and predictive research (libguides, 2015) . Exploratory research. This type
conducted for a problem that has not been clearly defined. It looks for pattern, hypotheses or ideas
that can be tested. Can help determine the best research design, data collection method, and
selection of the subjects. Used when few or no previous studies exist. Will often

Fresh Film Analysis
Fresh The United States has become one of the largest empires in the world for the production of
agricultural products. In order to keep the rapidly increasing demands of the consumer met over the
past sixty years technology has had to revolutionize itself from the inside out. According to the
United States Department of Agriculture, the Averaged annual U.S. retail Choice beef price ($/lb)
has doubled since the early 2000 s. History has shown that there is a wide obsession around the
idea of cheap and easily produced food. It is also suggested that the techniques and practices used
for this intention are making substantially negative impacts in our societies. Fresh is an important

Abolishment Of Slavery During The American Revolution
Lasting six years, the American Revolution resulted in a significant amount of lives being lost,
not only to war but to disease and infection as well (Schultz, 2013). Division among the colonists
was felt between those loyal to the cause and the rebels, as well as, the ones that were indifferent
to either (Schultz, 2013). Disruptions of daily life resulted because soldiers were away from their
homes and families for extended amounts of time and women managed the households, families,
and civic life (Schultz, 2013). Additionally, slaves were unsure of their futures because there were
no signs of them obtaining freedom (Schultz, 2013). From the Enlightenment period, the promise
of life, liberty, and property ownership was now a possibility for all colonists (Schultz, 2013).
Results of the Revolution also allowed a democracy rather than the rule of a few people and the
separation of church and state (Schultz, 2013). Although this democracy and voting still depended
on owning property, which excluded women and African Americans, the door was now open for
future... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the war slaves often joined the British army because they were offered freedom for doing
so (Schultz, 2013). However, the war brought the abolishment of slavery in the North and slaves
often fought alongside the colonists (Schultz, 2013). Following the war, formal abolishment was
slow; however, progress was made even in the Southern colonies where the majority of slaves lived
(Schultz, 2013). In some colonies, laws were established to allow individuals to free their slaves
much easier and by 1810, three fourths of slaves in the North were free (Schultz, 2013). Northern
African Americans, once free, began establishing churches, social institutions, and fraternal
organizations (Schultz, 2013). Outlawing the importation of slaves was outlawed by 1790 except in
the state of Georgia and South Carolina (Schultz,

How To Reduce Gun Violence In The United States
In the United States, there is a mass shooting that kills four or more people every twenty three
hours. Gun violence has risen to epidemic proportions. The United States has allowed guns to
become so easily accessible that in four out of five states anyone, even someone without a gun
license, can buy an unregistered firearmfrom a private vendor. It has also become incredibly easy to
be approved for a gunin most states. Currently it is more difficult to get a driver s license, even
with extensive testing, than it is to own a firearm. We, as a nation, cannot expect to progress far if
we don t even moderately control the flow of firearmsthat is flooding into the streets. We have the
capacity to fix this and create a safer country for everyone.
In order to improve the yearly death tolls from gun violence, we have to limit how one can even get
a gun in the first place. Currently, the country only has ten states that prohibit the sale of guns at
gun shows and through private vendors, who don t have proper licensing. Another ten states only
prohibit handgun sales, and the other thirty states have nothing. This means one can walk into a
gun show with cash and walk out the same day with a gun. If we prohibit ... Show more content on

There should be extended time required for background checks to be completed, will limit the law
that one may be allowed to purchase a gun because the background check did not come quickly

given a psychological evaluation. This can limit the number of violent or depressed citizens from
receiving firearms and hopefully encourage them to find the medical help they may require.
Ultimately, whoever has purchased a gun may be inconvenienced through the process, but the
reward is that guns only go to those who have demonstrated that they have the responsibility

Reasons For Investing Hedge Funds Essay
A hedge fund is a loosely regulated investment company that charges incentive fees and usually
seeks to generate returns that are not highly correlated to returns on stocks and bonds.
REASONS TO INVEST IN HEDGE FUNDS Main reasons to invest in hedge funds are
(1)Increased Return, (2)Reduction of risk, and (3) Diversification. Types of Hedge Funds
Following are the different categories of Hedge funds Equity Hedge Funds Equity hedge funds
include those categories that invest primarily in common stocks. Equity Long Biased It is the
most popular one. Managers increase the return by following a market timing strategy.
Fundamental analysis or technical analysis can be employed for stock selection. Leverage ratio
for portfolios in this group is generally low ( 2 to 1 or less) Equity Market Neutral These hedge
funds are much less riskier than a portfolio of common stocks. These use a number of strategies. It
includes trading between futures and underlying common stocks, buying and selling related classes
of common stock or certain options strategies. Equity Arbitrage The arbitrage group is of higher
risk but also provides higher returns. This is also adopted in Equity market neutral category. These
funds have higher leverage. As higher leverage is present, it results in higher returns and in turn
higher risk compared to other strategies. Long/Short Equity Mostly its performance depends on the
selection of stock and market timing. These hedge funds include long or short. The

Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare
Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William
Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author
of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy.
De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in
Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writingstructure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that
William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did.
De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to
Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer .
Since a multitude of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar
with the law system, which de Vere was. According to Britannica, de Vere studied with Arthur
Golding (who translated Metamorphoses by Ovid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Britannica, [de Vere s] poems apparently ceased just before Shakespeare s work
began to appear (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). De Vere started writing through
poetry, but soon after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed
that de Vere stopped writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social
stigma that was associated with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name,
Shakespeare. This theory is also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to
Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De
Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is significant because this type of poetry was not used very
commonly among poets of Shakespeare s time. The similarities between de Vere and Shakespeare s
poems shows the potential authorship de Vere could have

The Pros And Cons Of Charter Schools
Going through school and especially high school, I would hear things having to do with what
regular public school teachers think of charter schools, both good and bad. The majority of what
I heard was along the lines of charter schools being proper education or if they even constituted as
proper education. Do they have the same or at least some of the same standards, educationally or
not, to give students a well rounded learning experience? Being a future teacher, I just want to
know more about them and how they work in depth. I am genuinely interested in this topic because
I could possibly be an employee at a charter schoolone day. Even if I am not an employee of a
charter school, I can still benefit from knowing more about the topic. The topic of charter... Show

Many studies address this issue. For example, Bruce Fuller from the University of California,
Berkley states, Three national studies have shown that the average charter student is not out
performing the average regular public school student... ( Charter School Proponents Focus on
Accountability in Word if Not in Deed ). According to this article, charter school students are in fact
taking in less than regular public schools. Another study by the National Center for Education
Statistics shows that math scores are higher in public schools because charter schools spend more
time on english (Chudowsky et al. 6). Obviously, if English is the main focus, then math scores
will not be as high. Bottom line, regular public schools are still out performing charter schools,
but why? Another NCES study suggests that larger class sizes in charter schools are one of what
could be may causes. With larger class sizes, students are not given as much one on one time. This
could be the difference in public school children outperforming or not (Chudowsky et al.

Character Analysis Of The Secret Life Of Bees
Every person on the face of the earth makes mistakes, Lily. Every last one. We re all so human.
Your mother made a terrible mistake, but she tried to fix it. The quote just before came from the
character August Boatwright, an African American woman who lives in Tiburon, South Carolina
with her sisters May and June Boatwright. There are many characters in the book of The Secret Life
of Bees that have this unique personality which brings many life to the story but August mainly
struck my eye compared to the rest of them. She has this personality that shows her intelligence and
warmhearted person that brought me to admire her. The intelligence in August Boatwright brought
me to the conclusion of her being so admirable. Sue Monk Kiddbrought August into the story that
would be helpful in the storyline. August is seen as this surrogate mother to her sisters as well as
to Lily. She has this knowledge that has helped everyone in the story figure out their problem. The
moment Lily walked through the door, she noticed something but kept it to herself. Viewing every
little thing about Lily as she stayed with them, helping her with daily needs and the business she
ran at the house. This moment stuck with August because she knew she was Deborah s child. In
the end of the story, Lily reveals to AUgust she is daughter of Deborah and clearly August knew
from the start because that is what she noticed about Lily. She was able to tell that since it was a
miniature version of Deborah. But

Essay On Ancient South America Religion
Religions of Ancient South America emerged from expressions of internal engagements with
external factors. In ancient South America it was seen how the environment and landscapes aided
in the shaping of the cosmology of ancient religions. A wide known religion that arose from this
matter was the Inka religionbut this traces further back to the cultural ancestors of the Inka, the
Chavin. The Chavin and preceding religions were ongoing developments and continuities that were
inherited and built upon earlier expressions. The Chavin is known as the Early Horizon because it
was a religion that was the first Pan Andean religion that would pass on its practices and
cosmologies to preceding civilizations. As mentioned earlier these religions were... Show more

In the Preceramic we find evidence of religious traditions that are later on seen again in the
Chavin and preceding Andean religions but each. For example in Chinchorro from the
Preceramic we see the mortuary practice of mummification. Michael E. Moseley author of The
Incas and Their Ancestors: The Archaeology of Peru explains, ...artificial mummification of
corpses was a social distinction conferred upon important people who were generally born to
privileged status... (Moseley, 100). The mummies of Chinchorro were conserved in an unusual
way: wooden shafts would be added as support for certain body parts; the body cavities would be
filled; coats of clay were applied to the exterior. The mummies were made accessible to the living
for a reasonable amount of time before disposing of them by interment. Moseley explains that this
mortuary practice reflects the Andean belief that the bodies needed to be physically intact in order
to enter the afterlife and join their ancestors. Similarly, the Chavin adapted this practice, but
executed it in a different manner. During the Chavin corpses were ...placed in a flexed seated
position and bound with cords to maintain the pose... (Moseley, 161). The body was

  • 2. The Downward Spiral Analysis In 1994, Nine Inch Nails released a dark, desolate album called The Downward Spiral. The songs are known to alternate violently between too low volumes with sweet melody (along with that soft ragged voice characteristic of grunge) and too high volumes with many layers of white noise, screaming, and distortion layered over hard rock instrumentals (Gold). The message of the album is as disturbing as the audio: It tracks the narrator s path of self destruction through attempting to find satisfaction in religion, sex, and drug abuse ( Interview ). The album, while rife with emotional significance on its own, acts as both a prophecy and a cry for help. It followed a junkie s painful lifestyle, the addiction and abuse functioning solely as a metaphor for Reznor s internal strife ( Interview ). But soon after releasing The Downward Spiral, Reznor would turn to drugs and alcohol, later surviving a heroin overdose in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first lyric sets the tone for the whole song: I hurt myself today/To see if I still feel . That first verse later goes on to describe the narrator s usage of drugs (likely heroin): The needle tears a hole/The old familiar sting . The verse as a whole describes a sense of hopelessness: the man hurt himself (either indirectly through drugs or by actually inflicting pain), uses the pain and high to try to forget his situation, but apparently still remembers everything. The narrator is disgusted with how everything has turned out, and asks in a refrain, What have I become? He is miserable, and considers his life and accomplishments (his empire of dirt ) worthless. To mark the very end of this sorrowful soliloquy, Reznor softly adds If I could start again/ A million miles away / I would keep myself/ I would find a way . • 6. The Pros And Cons Of Fairtrade Imagine your a coffee farmer from Columbia, you love your plants and fields. You have spent virtually your whole life tilling and caring for everything encompassed by your farm. However when you go to sell your beans, that love you put into your work doesn t translate to good pay. In fact your paid so low for your product that you have to choose between taking care of your family or taking care of your crop for next year. Now implant FairTrade into the mix and you will see a happy farmer getting paid higher prices. Over the course of this paper we will be discussing FairTrade. What it is and how it works while also covering negatives and positives to the FairTrade experience, starting with. So what is FairTrade and how does it work? FairTrade started out as the Alternative Trade Organization back in the 1950s. Essentially they worked to cut out the middle man which meant more money to the farmer. (Lamb, 2016) The problem is farmers sell their product to one buyer who then sells it to another, this process loops numerous times until our coffeebean is ground and poured into a mug. This means the farmer is forced to pay by taking a very small sales price. Now over the course of time the Alternative Trade Organization began to morph and change first adapting a label to identify FairTrade products. But also requiring an entity to certify and ... • 7. The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect stakeholders. Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is utilitarianism. If the benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior is considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism and is embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A company incorporating structures to guide executives that considers all the variables began with Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson Johnson. In 1934, he wrote a credo which became a structure for other organizations to consider. The statement described that their responsibility was to all users of their products, and that the stockholders should realize a fair return without doing harm to a consumer (Johnson Johnson, 1943). These principles established ethical guidelines for Johnson Johnson and a model for other industries. В¬The United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 helped companies to become socially responsible (De George, 2015). Ethics and social responsibilities are evident with British Petroleum s handling of the Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010, and Toyota Motor Corporation s attempt to create an eco friendly vehicle. Utilitarianism was exhibited by BP and moral idealism was Toyota s motive to produce environmentally green vehicles. British Petroleum redesigned their name to make it more environmentally friendly, it was changed to Beyond Petroleum, which professed their focus on renewable energy not just hydrocarbons, and promoted a pro social marketing plan (Balmer et al., 2011). Historical developments within file systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be described. 3Introduction Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and either stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. By separating the data into identifiable blocks, the information can be easily located. (1) Each grouping of data, which takes its name from the method of organising paper based information, is referred to as a file . The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3) Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2) A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an incredibly important difference between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains. Some programs will operate directly on sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or seriously corrupt any current filesystem. However, most programs operate at the filesystem level, and subsequently will not operate correctly on a disk or partition that either does not contain a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Characteristics Of New England Colonies When established, the British colonies had three divisions which are New England, Middle, and the Southern. Each of these geographic regions had some developments which were unique and different from other sectors. Some of the stark differences were because of geopolitical, religious, economic, and social factors. Although all regions were marked by tremendous growth, they experienced differences in their management style and trading pact. The New England Colonies included the colonies of Connecticut, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Massachusetts, and Province of New Hampshire. The colonies were where the Englishmen settled and lived. Their economy, religion, and politics grew gradually due to various factors which include the community setting where lands were separated into small portions. The settlers of the New England traded sugar and molasses with other parts of the world. Also, this colony practiced subsistence farming where they produced enough food for their family need. Before farming, these colonies had small scale factories and built ships to improve their economy. They were Puritans. They formed this religion after freeing from the Church of England. The colony also had communities that lived close to each other and watched out on their fellows. As a result, the Puritans lived longer and able to maintain their traditions. Politically, the colonies had the concept of self government through the elections and the appointments. The Middle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All societies in this novel practice intolerance in one way or another, even though Wyndham doesn t approve of it. We see it with the Norms, the Fringes, the Sealanders and even people of today. The most horrible example was when someone who was different was banished from there community to the fringes. You would think they would have toned it down a little bit after David s aunt committed suicide; she committed suicide because she gave birth to mutant baby, and did not want to be found out. This is horrible example of the intolerant nature of the Norms. Intolerance, surprisingly enough, was also practiced in the fringes. The people who lived in the fringes were intolerant towards the people of Waknuk. They felt anyone without a type of mutation or difference was inferior to them. An example of this is when Rosalind is fleeing the town with all the ESP children. Rosalind still had a cross on her dress from Waknuk, which was a sign that she was a true human , and was only worn by the norms. Because she had ESP she wasn t considered a true human . W hen they were running away Sophie told Rosalind that if anyone from the Fringes saw that cross they would reject her; this is because they reject the norms. Solution And Solution Selection Process Solution and Solution Selection Process As insignificant as 4% may seem, it has a very large impact on forensics and the entire criminal justice system. When DNA tests become invalidated, the test can no longer be relied on to be accurate. Forensics relies on the total accuracy of their test. When a test s accuracy cannot be verified, it cannot be used as evidence. With all of the data that laboratories have to process, how can the accuracy of the data be checked? In 2009, there were an estimated 26 million Child ID Kits distributed by the National Child Identification Program alone. For the safety of their children, more and more parents are turning to forensic analysis to protect their families. In each of the identification kits, there are supplies to collect a hair sample, saliva sample, and take fingerprints. In the event that something happens to the child, parents can present the information from these kits to police to use them to find the child. The Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) is a database owned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that is shared with all law enforcement in the United States. • 14. Percent Copper In Brass Percent Copper in Brass I. Introduction Have you ever been to any orchestra show or home improvement store before? If you have, I m sure you have seen those fancy gold colored instruments or fancy door knobs or faucets from the home improvement store. Have you ever wondered what they are made up of? They are made up with the binary alloy called brass. Brass is a binary alloy made up of copper and zinc with an additional amount of lead and tin(Brass in Focus, Angela Vessey,2004). Its density is known as 8.3 to 8.7 g/cm3, and melting point is 1652 to 1724 В°F(Bell,2017). The characteristics of the brass are varied on the amount of zinc and copper. The higher amount of zinc seems to be cast easier while the lower amount of zinc can be cold worked easier; high amounts of copper allow the brass to form a patina, coating of the thin oxide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In real world, we use Beer s law to find out the amount of copper or zinc in the brass. The most accurate way to find the amount of copper is by drawing a calibration curve. When a calibration curve is a straight line, we represent it using y=ОІ0+ОІ1x where y is the signal, Sstd, and x is the analyte concentration, Cstd. The constants ОІ0 and ОІ1 are, respectively, the calibration curve s expected y intercept and its expected slope. Because of uncertainty in our measurements, the best we can do is to estimate values for ОІ0 and ОІ1, which we represent as b0 and b1. The goal of a linear regression analysis is to determine the best estimates for b0 and b1. How we do this depends on the uncertainty in our measurements(Harvey,2016). Meanwhile, all the brasses share same characteristics of malleability and ductility. All the brasses are capable of being shaped and can be drawn into a wire(Brass in focus, Angela Vessey,2004). In the real world, brass is used for decoration, mechanical applications, as well as for musical instruments. Depends on the copper percentage in brass, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Kill Bill Volume 1 Aesthetics Each person will make for himself the kind of nude he wants, with the nude that I will have made for him. He ll put everything where it belongs, with his own eyes (Picasso, 2009). This is what the term aesthetic is; an individual s set of ideas about style and taste, along with its expression. Aesthetics has the role to enhance any visual object, appliance, theme and concept, inducing the trust and relationship of form and content within a viewer or audience of a film or production. To fully understand how the role of aestheticsfurthers a theme or concept of a narrative we must look at the medium of film and its scenographic elements. These elements contribute to establishing an atmosphere and mood for a film or theatrical presentation (Eagan,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quality, intensity and direction of lighting can influence an audience s understanding of a films characters, actions, themes and mood. The colour of the lighting can also hold thematic relevance like in the film Kill Bill Volume 1 where one of the crazy 88 members run through a red hallway. This red is used throughout the entire film and represents danger (Kill Bill Volume 1, 2003). This explanation is supported by the fact that the antagonists of the scene all emerge from this red hallway proving the danger. Highlighted lighting in a film, for example, call attention to shapes and textures, while shadows often conceal things, creating a sense of mystery or fear. For this reason, lighting must be thoroughly planned in advance to ensure its desired effect on an audience. Lighting can make a scene feel happy, sad, mysterious or even dangerous hence furthering the concept portrayed in a film without even needing dialogue from the actors. Lighting in its entirety plays a huge role in the aesthetic of a film as it creates the context furthering the concept in which the entire film happens (G., 2000). Even in America s gender focused society, labels and expectations are imposed upon people that can determine the direction and limits of their lives. One such example can be found in Lorraine Hansberry s play A Raisin in the Sun when Walter Younger demeaned Beneatha s doctoral career choice. If you so crazy bout messing round with sick people then go be a nurse like other women or just get married and be quiet (Hansberry 1.1). Walter stands as an emblem of society during the 1950s, the time period of the play, because in his perspective, a woman is not capable of doing a man s job; therefore, if Beneatha were to become a doctor generally an occupation dominated by males for many years she would defy gender stereotypes and act as a detriment against one of civilization s strongest social constructs: gender. Walter, and many others, would much rather have Beneatha remain silent and undereducated merely because she is a woman. He would prefer Beneatha take a job that is for women, a nurse, because it is a position subordinate to a doctor s. Not surprisingly, gender inequality also existed before A Raisin in the Sun. Although at first her actions may seem revolutionary, she is just a tool used by Chaucer to mock women during this time period rather than empower them. The fast paced ending and body language of the dancers suggested the swans were happy with being saved from the man in black, and that was evident as the production came to a close. This heightens the impressiveness of Slims skilled work, and could be interpreted as Slim was a hard worker, who had achieved his authoritative position by being skilled at the hardest job on the farm. For the jail that was studied in this book the inmates would be woken up early in the morning blowing a whistle telling them to rise. They then go eat breakfast and return to their cells which would stay open for a few hours until the next count, the process is repeated in the evening as well. • 41. Pikeminnow Recovery Case Study Each policy has issues or points that are not agreed upon by everyone entirely. Although there were several issues with Section 7, the specific issue was the uncertainty that came with gauging the goals of the recovery program along with the issue that the goals of the program were not specific with location or amount. Criteria for gauging the progress of the goals were not clear. For example, Brunner et al. stated that a recovery goal for the Colorado pikeminnow was to maintain and protect self sustaining populations and natural habitat. The issue with this is that there was no concrete way to measure if the pikeminnow populations were actually self sustaining. Another addition to the uncertainty issue was that the area the program was attempting to cover was so larger that it was difficult to determine who would be responsible for fish recovery or inadequate progress in the recovery. Several agencies and groups were represented during the negotiations of the recovery program. The most relevant was the Fish and Wildlife Service, who essentially guided the entire process. Corporate water users also played a big role when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first being a way to increase water flow during the late summer. We prepared a 4 quad cell, 1 control group and 3 experimental groups. So, we had one with no fertilizer, one with three seeds of fertilizer, one with six seeds of fertilizer, and lastly, one with nine seeds of fertilizer. The plants that we grew were called Wisconsin Fast Plants, members of the crucifer family. These plants are small and easy to grow, but for optimal growth they require continuous fertilizer, water, fluorescent light, and temperature between 18 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius 24 hours a day. Fertilizers are substances that are put into soils to increase the growth of the plant. There are two different types of fertilizers, synthetic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beforehand, I believed that, if fertilizer speeds the growth of plants, then the 9 pellets of fertilizer were going to make the biggest plant the fastest. I thought this because it would have the most fertilizer and if fertilizer speeds up the growth of plants then 9 must speed it up the most. However, I was not completely right with my initial prediction. My personal data came to the conclusion that the 3 pellets made the plant grow the fastest but in the class data by the end the average data showed that 9 pellets showed the most growth. This experiment was set up as four different plant seeds in four different quadrants. Each of the four quadrants had a different amount of fertilizer. We watered them and planted them in soil then every week we checked in on our plants. We measured the size if the plants and then recorded it and put them back under the fluorescent light. Then everyone recorded their data and we watched the class data on average, then the last day we measured the mass of the plants and found the class data. So although my prediction of 9 pellets of fertilizer creating the most growth was true in the class data, it was not true in my individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abolishment Of Slavery During The American Revolution Lasting six years, the American Revolution resulted in a significant amount of lives being lost, not only to war but to disease and infection as well (Schultz, 2013). Division among the colonists was felt between those loyal to the cause and the rebels, as well as, the ones that were indifferent to either (Schultz, 2013). Disruptions of daily life resulted because soldiers were away from their homes and families for extended amounts of time and women managed the households, families, and civic life (Schultz, 2013). Additionally, slaves were unsure of their futures because there were no signs of them obtaining freedom (Schultz, 2013). From the Enlightenment period, the promise of life, liberty, and property ownership was now a possibility for all colonists (Schultz, 2013). Results of the Revolution also allowed a democracy rather than the rule of a few people and the separation of church and state (Schultz, 2013). • 46. How To Reduce Gun Violence In The United States In the United States, there is a mass shooting that kills four or more people every twenty three hours. Gun violence has risen to epidemic proportions. The United States has allowed guns to become so easily accessible that in four out of five states anyone, even someone without a gun license, can buy an unregistered firearmfrom a private vendor. It has also become incredibly easy to be approved for a gunin most states. Currently it is more difficult to get a driver s license, even with extensive testing, than it is to own a firearm. We, as a nation, cannot expect to progress far if we don t even moderately control the flow of firearmsthat is flooding into the streets. We have the capacity to fix this and create a safer country for everyone. In order to improve the yearly death tolls from gun violence, we have to limit how one can even get a gun in the first place. Currently, the country only has ten states that prohibit the sale of guns at gun shows and through private vendors, who don t have proper licensing. Another ten states only prohibit handgun sales, and the other thirty states have nothing. This means one can walk into a gun show with cash and walk out the same day with a gun. If we prohibit ... • 48. Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writingstructure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did. De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . Since a multitude of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar with the law system, which de Vere was. It is believed that de Vere stopped writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social stigma that was associated with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name, Shakespeare. This theory is also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is significant because this type of poetry was not used very commonly among poets of Shakespeare s time. The Pros And Cons Of Charter Schools Going through school and especially high school, I would hear things having to do with what regular public school teachers think of charter schools, both good and bad. Obviously, if English is the main focus, then math scores will not be as high. Bottom line, regular public schools are still out performing charter schools, but why?
