Genetic Mutation
In biology, term mutation has been described as changes to the base pair sequence of the genetic
material of an organism. Mutations can be caused by: copying errors in the genetic material during
cell division, by exposure to ultraviolet or ionizing radiation, chemical mutagens, or viruses, or can
occur deliberately under cellular control during processes such as hypermutation. In multicellular
organisms, mutations can be subdivided into germ line mutations, which can be passed on to
descendants, and somatic mutations, which cannot be transmitted to descendants in animals. Plants
sometimes can transmit somatic mutations to their descendants asexually or sexually (in case
when flower buds develop in somatically mutated part of plant). A... Show more content on

Instead there is an abnormal type of hemoglobin S that is inherited as an autosomal inherited
trait. This disease produces chronic anemia, which may become life threatening when hemolytic
crises (the breakdown of redblood cells) or aplastic crises (bone marrow fails to produce blood
cells) occur. The incidence of this disorder is 1/400 African Americans and 8/100,000 people.
The manifestations of this disease are a result of the fragility and inflexibility of the sickle red
bloodcells. When exposed to a lack of water, infection, and low oxygen supply, these delicate red
blood cells take the shape of a crescent. This then causes blood cell devastation and thickening of
the blood. Sickle cell anemia has the potential to be life threatening and can affect other body
systems and parts of the body. Those included are the nervous system, bones, the kidneys and the
liver. Maternal PKU is a genetic disorder that stems from point mutation. 1/15,000 people fall
victim to this disorder. Phenylketonuria (PKU) has been shown as a cause of retardation in infant
fetuses. Children in the fetus begin with a normal amount of phenylalanine hydroxylase but are
affected by the mother s elevated phenylalanine level due to the imbalance of prenatal amino acid.
Mental deficiency is clearly evident in disorder and usually consists of I.Q.s of 50.

Victims Of The Revolutionary Era Essay
Victims of the Revolutionary Era Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been, written by
Joyce Carol Oates, portrays the fast cultural transition that heavily impacted teenager s behavior
in the 1960 s. The new style of music is an example of how the rapidly cultural transition highly
influenced adolescent s behavior from that generation, initiating a revolutionary era. It was a
time when culture was rapidly changing. A sexual revolution was taking place, leading people,
especially teenagers, to question the traditional and religious beliefs of previous generations. In
addition, it was a phase which peace and love was emphasized by the ongoing Vietnam war,
driving people to promote peace and love amongst themselves for the whole decade, especially
through rock and roll music. Even as the peace and love movement arose, a series of murders
occurred in Tucson, AZ. Charles Howard Schmid Jr., a 23 year old man, brutally murdered
numerous girls and made national headlines. A creepy predator was Oates s inspiration to create
the unscrupulous character: Arnold Friend. Oates creates the perfect picture of a 1960 s typical
teenager that gets caught in the middle of the revolutionary era; and eventually becomes a victim
of Arnold Friend. Connie is a 15 year old girl who lives an ordinary life; confused about the girl
she is, and the woman she is becoming. Being a teenager is not an easy thing overall, for any girl,
in any era. Furthermore, she lives in a fast paced, transitional

A Tourist Guide of Vienna
A Tourist Guide of Vienna
Vienna is the capital and biggest city of Austria. It is among the nine states of Austria. Vienna is
Austria s essential city, with approximately 1.757 million population, and its social, monetary, and
political focus. Until the start of the 20th century, it was the biggest city of German spoken people
in the world. Separated from being viewed as the City of Music as a result of its musical legacy,
Vienna is likewise said to be The City of Dreams since it was home to the world s first
psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
History
Close ties with other Celtic group of people proceeded through the ages. The Irish minister Saint
Colman is covered in Melk Abbey and Saint Fergil was Bishop of Salzburg for forty years, and Irish
Benedictines established twelfth century devout settlements. Confirmation of these ties is still
apparent in Vienna s extraordinary Schottenstift religious community. It was once the home of
numerous Irish ministers. In the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds of years, the Ottoman armed
forces were halted twice outside Vienna. A maladie plague attacked Vienna in 1679, murdering
about a third of its populace.

Company Culture And Employee Motivation
According to consultant and entrepreneur Dave Gray Connected companies have the advantage in
today s connected world, because they learn and move faster than their competitors . Watch the
presentation on key principles and critically discuss the challenges and benefits for company culture
and employee motivationto accommodate this type of structure. Refer to examples of existing
companies using this structure and relevant theory.
There has been a change in company culture since the 1930 s due to the rise of service industries
and the steady decline of manufacturing. Management style affects both company culture and
employee motivation.
Connected companies focus on the individual worker and each employee is given a responsibility.

There is a hierarchy of authority and leadership as well as a strong chain of command. The
leadership style is therefore very authoritative and task oriented. The communication runs from the
top down and the workers at the operational level have no power in comparison to top level
management and CEO s. This works well in manufacturing companies because it is a relatively
stable industry and is suited to this rational and task oriented approach. The aim of the rational goal
model is to maximize output and key writers on this include Smith, Frederick and Ford.
The philosophy of Adam Smith revolved around managers finding the optimal use of resources
within organisations, with no regard for the well being of the worker. He advocated the division
of labour to increase productivity and wrote about this in his 1776 book The Wealth of Nations
where he used a Pin Factory as a model to illustrate the benefits of labour division. He proved that
when manufacturing is divided into a series of small tasks, such that each individual performs the
same task over and over again, the production line moves much quicker. This promotes efficiency in
the use of resources. However, he also discovered through this example that this type of repetitive
work has negative effect of workers intellect, happiness and motivation.
The development of scientific management by Frederick Taylor also played a role in defining

3 Day Diet Analysis
Three Day Diet Analysis
For this three day diet analysis project I wanted to eat as I normally would and be honest about
all that I ate, to analyze not only what and how much I was eating, but also to see how healthy
my diet really is. By doing so I can see if any of my diet choices are putting me at risk for certain
health diseases, and what changes can be made to make my diet healthier. After analyzing my
diet, I would say I am fairly healthy, though I am out of the target range in a few areas. My
profile calculated from my weight and height indicates that I have a BMI of 20.5. This is
considered to be healthy; the healthy range is anywhere between 18.5 25. This was reassuring to

Protein is responsible 18% of my calories, where fats make up 35% and carbohydrates are 47%. To
better evenly distribute my calories, I can lower my fat intake by about 10% to be in the range of
20 25%. By doing so I would decrease the amount of fat I eat by about 25 26 grams which make
about 25% of my calories from fat. With the decrease of those calories, I could increase my
carbohydrate intake by about 57 58 grams, this would leave me at the same caloric intake. By
increasing the amount of carbohydrates consumed by 57 grams this would raise the percentage
that carbohydrates are adding to my calories by 10% putting my total percent to 57%. This
would be more in the middle of the AMDR, which is 45 65% of my total calories. While looking
at the break down of my fat intake, it shows that my percent of unsaturated to saturated fats is
almost equal with saturated fats being 40%, and a combination of all the unsaturated fats equalling
to 37%. From the bar chart I already recognized that my saturated fat intake is higher than it
should be, and evidence from this report only backs up this fact. Optimally I would like to have
my unsaturated fats be higher than my saturated fats. However, within unsaturated fats, I would like
to change the ratio of mono and poly unsaturated fats. The change I would like to see would be a
lowering the amount of mono and increasing the amounts of poly unsaturated that I consume. From

Ford Model T Essay
The ford Model T was the first car mass produced in the U.S during the early 1900 s. The Model
T had a 4 cylinder 20 horsepower engine that could reach speeds of about 40 miles an hour. They
come in different colors, but they were mostly produced in black. They were relativley simple, and
reliable cars. It changed the factor of automobiles and transportation because people went from
horse and buggy to full out automobiles. Henry fordwas the first person in the U.S to use what s
called the assembly lineand it worked well to his advantage. The ford model t production line and
other competing motor companies are different as ford had a different way of of building cars
using assembly lines, while other companies did not use this method. The inventor of the Ford
Model T, Henry ford, Produced the first ever model t on October 1st, 1908. On this date, henry
did not realize how well business was going to be for him. From this date, until May 26, 1927
Henry ford produced over 15,000,000 model Ts, which was unheard of at the time. Because of
the method of creating these vehicles, called the assembly line that you see today, he was able to
ramp up production and sucess. The assembly line didn t start until 1913, when Henry soon

them at a faster rate. The starting price of the model T was 850$, about 21,000$ today. The
demand for this vehicle went incredibly high, and Ford was able to lower the price of his car
because they were in such high demand to around 300$. Ford s Motive was that he wanted to build

babies, shouldn t eat jelly beans for choking hazard reasons. And I learned that at five years old

Nursing Succession Planning Essay
Setting
Lack of succession planning among the nursing workforce is expected to have a rippling affect
across all care settings and worldwide in the years to come. Research supports that nurse manager s
actions have the potential to influence outcomes in all care settings (Titzer, Phillips, Tooley, Hall,
Shirley, 2013). Presently, the nursing workforce is experiencing higher levels of turnover among
first line managers than among senior leadership positions (Titzer et al., 2013). Organizations are
encouraged to conduct gap analyses to project vacancies in key positions related to retirement and
advancement (Titzer et al., 2013). Organizations are also encouraged to employ strategies to
identify and grow internal human capital to facilitate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these suggestions, as many as 70% of hospitals still actively lack succession planning
initiatives and over a third of existing nurse succession plans primarily focus on top level
management positions (Titzer, Shirley Hauck, 2014). With more than 44% of nurses in
management positions reported to be over the age of 55 and the cost of replacing nurse managers
climbing to 75 125% of typical annual salaries, organization s need to turn increasing attention to
proactive succession planning in order to remain viable in the healthcare industry (Sverdlik, 2012;
Titzer et al., 2013). Increasing pressures to fill vacancies is resulting in clinically skilled but often
underprepared nurses being selected for nursing leadership positions (Titzer Shirley, 2013). Lack of
formal preparation renders many aspiring nurse managers ineffective which has been associated
with negative implications such as role transition stress, poor work environment, and increased
turnover (Titzer Shirley, 2013). This is further complicated by a lack of interest among younger
novice nurses in leadership and management roles (Titzer et al., 2013). As such, the proposed
succession planning program will utilize a multilayered approach to encompass all

Philosophy Statement
When I finished junior high school I enrolled in a training program to teach elementary students
in some of the most remote regions of Mexico. I was excited about the prospect of teaching
reading, writing, and mathematics to underprivileged students in areas of my country that needed
education more than anything else to bring them into the modern era. I had seen the difference a
few good teachers had made in my life. It was one of my earliest ideas to help the youth in my
country rise above the limitations of their past and see the possibilities available to them with hard
work in school.
My father did not think it was such a good idea to allow his 16 year old daughter to travel without
family or familiar chaperones to strange and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though I would have preferred to dabble in other courses and learn more of the liberal arts, I
felt an obligation to find, and finish a program that would yield the greatest monetary rewards for
my effort. I put my nose to the grindstone and worked to become the best accountant I could be.
However, as much as I wanted to become an accountant, I knew I would prefer teaching accounting
more than actually being an accountant.
Over time the subjects I want to teach have changed, but my enthusiasm is still the same. I keep
thinking that there is no better place to change the world than in a classroom. In the beginning I
wanted to become an elementary school teacher, and later I wanted to become an accounting
teacher. Now I want to become a Spanish teacher at the postsecondary level.
So why do I want to become a Spanish teacher? I love the idea of teaching something once and
knowing my students will be able to apply or share their information many times. For instance, if I
teach my students how to casually greet native Spanish speakers instead of using formal addresses
that are found in textbooks; the next time they go to a Mexican restaurant, they can speak to their
server in a friendlier manner. Even if this seems insignificant, the Mexican waiter will appreciate the
effort and the American will be better off than if they only established a monolingual conversation.

The Pros and Cons of the Death Penalty Essay examples
In the world we as people live in violence. Violence has gotten so out of control that it has
affected everyone. The one thing about violence is that it also leads to crimes. And crimes leads
to some people being imprisoned, while others are put on death row. But if crimes are crimes,
what makes them minor or major? Who decides if they are minor or major? Nowadays minor
and major crimes are being pushed together. For example, someone gets shot and the shooter gets
5 years in prison. But if someone is raped it cannot be proven and the victim is left suicidal while
the rapist goes about their day. Both are major crimes but one has a sentence and the other one
does not. With this happening in the world it makes me wonder if we as the people... Show more

30). The community as a whole should already have what crime gets the death penalty. If it takes
a lot of money to make sure that this particular crime was committed by the right person then so be
it. It should not matter whether it takes another month or so to be accurate with the crime
committed. Also Robinson adds Some experts believe deciding to limit the death penalty will no
longer make it a potential deterrent to criminals (Robinson par. 24). If the death penalty is
restricted then there is no hope of it having an effect on the population a little as time passes.
Robinsons also wrote about how the death penalty should be used:
More discriminate use of the death penalty reserving its use for only highly aggravated crimes, the
worst of the worst will lessen the risk of flawed convictions and sentences and ensure that those
who really deserve to be on death row will be executed. [There shouldn t be restriction to the death
penalty because] ... the capital punishment system will remain flawed and it is more likely that
less deserving or innocent prisoners will be convicted and put on death row. (Robinson par. 7)
In life there is always going to be something that is flawed with the death penalty. The reason being
is because of human error. Human error happens a lot and sometimes it

The Lion s Body
Introduction: The Panthera Leo, also known as the lion, is a member of the cat family, and
shares many common traits of this family. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass
than other animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its
forepaws heavy enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements
quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade
walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. As a layer wears, the layers shed, and a
new sharp pointed claw is then exposed. The lions body is covered with a brown coat, but
sometimes, a white variant that shows up. A mature male lion has a mane that covers... Show more

When a lion kills/threatens a farmer or a rancher s livelihood, that individual is likely to poach or
poison the lion in retaliation. Farmers and Ranchers are more likely to kill the lion to make sure
they won t their crops or livestock don t get threatened. Moreover, conservation groups work with
people living in lion territories, educating them about the lion s ecological importance, and
developing cheap ways to protect their subsistence.
Evidence of Evolution:
The lion s most common and recent ancestor lived around 124,000 years ago. Learning about the
lion s history has been difficult since animals living in tropical areas tend to leave fewer fossilized
remains behind. Around the time of the earliest lion s ancestor (124,000 years ago), tropical
rainforests expanded across equatorial Africa, and the Sahara region started turning into the
savannah. Lions living in the south and east of the continent became separated from, and had began
to diverge from, those who were living in the west and north. Then 73,000 years later, the continent
dried and the Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north.
At the same time, lions on the west expanded their range into Central Africa, which became more
inhabitable. At the end of the Pleistocene period, lions left North Africa, eventually reaching as far
as India. This meant that southern and

Imperialism And Modernization In Japan
By the nineteenth century Western nations had developed superior military technology than other
countries. Western countries were able to control other nations by coercing them into unfair trading
treaties which would leave the country economically dependent on them. The countries rarely
resisted successfully due to their insufficient military power. This occured often Asia with only
Japan and Thailand remaining independent. Only Japan thrived however and became an imperial
power. Japan was an isolated country until the United States forcibly opened it to trade. Japan
experienced a regime change following a tumultuous time in which western nations coerced Japan
into trade treaties. The new government favored capitalismand industry which lead to Japan
industrializing impressively fast through top down government mandated modernization. Western
imperialism forced Japan to modernize in order to remain a sovereign and successful state.
Modernization in this case was synonymous with becoming more like the West. Imperialism
drastically changed Japanese economic interaction as well as Japanese culture and class system
because modernization included becoming more like the West in most aspects but their treatment
of women remained the same because the West did not treat women very differently.
Before an American naval commander opened Japan, the country was extremely isolated.
Interaction with other nations was limited. Trade was discouraged in society due to Neo Confucian

opinions over war or the side a family member takes can cause a disturbance in a family. War
also tore the Meeker s apart by having death occur within their family. War can obviously get
someone killed and they cannot be brought back to life. Death can easily hurt a family and affect
the remaining family members. For instance, after Mr.Meeker s death, Susannah, Tim and Sam s
mother, becomes an alcoholic and Tim becomes more mature and responsible. This changed the
Meeker s way of how they act and the way they process information. It makes them take sides

Analysis of the Music Industry
Music may be defined romantically as `the food of love (Shakespeare) or more prosaically as
`sound with particular characteristics (Wikipedia), but it is undeniably a `vibrant artform (Arts
Council England) and one which touches more people, in more ways, than any other art form.
In commercial terms, music certainly generates a higher market value than the other arts, although
a comprehensive market size for music in all its manifestations is impossible to calculate. Key
Note has put a value of ВЈ3.03bn on consumer spending on music in 2005, derived from three
sectors: recorded music (which accounts for the bulk of the market), live music and musical
instruments. However, data for other related markets are included, such as ... Show more content on

For coverage of recorded music, Key Note is grateful to the statistics and commentary provided by
the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), detailed later in this chapter under Key Trade
Associations. For other sectors, an important component of the report is the field research into the
attitudes and buying habits of UK consumers with regard to music, conducted for Key Note by
NEMS Market Research specifically for this report.
Report Background
This is the first edition of a Market Review of the Music Industry published by Key Note.
Although coverage is targeted mainly at the UK market, the global aspects of the music industry
are given full acknowledgment. In particular, it is recorded music by far the largest market by
value that has evolved a global structure. Since 2004, it has featured just four `majors owning
dozens of famous labels and holding recording contracts (or back catalogues) for the vast majority
of the world s top selling recording artists.
The `big four major groups, including the UK s own `home grown giant, EMI Group PLC, also own
rights to publish and to license the majority of successful songs, theme music, etc. These rights are
increasingly important as the market moves towards a more fluid, ICT (information and

Robert De Niro s Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro s terrifyingly realistic portrayal of Travis Bickle, a lonely Vietnam war veteran
in the film Taxi Driver, is a performance that has captivated audiences for more than thirty years
and that will never be forgotten. De Niro s masterful performance sees him use complete control
over his body and voice to allow his characterization of Travis to reflect a certain atmosphere.
With only minimal speaking throughout, he manages to use subtle facial, body, and eye
movements to expose the film s themes of loneliness, alienation, anger, and redemption. In fact,
the opening scene itself is a perfect example of how subtle gestures can effectively convey a film
s mood. The very first scene exposes a pair of fatigued eyes, moving slowly from one side of the
screen to the other with an anxious expression. De Niro, with the use of only a pair of eyes,
catapults the viewer into the dark, surreal world of New York City, the space in which his severely

Off the screen, he has a reputation for being rather illusive and hard to get a hold of. These
qualities just happen to be things that accurately describe Travis character in the film. De Niro

Australian And Indonesian Relations Essay
Introduction Australian Indonesian relations are the foreign relations between the two countries,
whether economically, politically, legally or socially. Australian Indonesian relations involve an
interaction in foreign policies between the two nations (Wolfsohn, 1951, p. 68). As long as
Indonesia is Australia s closest and largest neighbor, they are bound to have great international
relations. These relations began as early as the 17th century and had only become enhanced with
time (Daly, 2003, p. 397). The relationship has been defined by a conjoint growth trade of up to
$14 between the years 2011 2012 which reports an increase from the previous economic year
(Mark, 2012, p.402). These countries are members of various trade deals such as the ASEAN
Regional Forum in addition to having close ties with education, defense, and leadership. Australia s
relationship with Indonesia is crucial, and lack of such could severely bruise the economy, and
hence they need to keep united by ensuring the use of widespread media with beneficial input.
Australia interacts with Indonesia in a way such as sporting activity, tourism, education, economic
policies, youth exchange programs, cultures and above all their diplomacy (Okamoto, 2010, p.241).
Internal Scene in Indonesia Indonesia is the largest country in South East Asia and the third most
populous in the world. Indonesia s geographic proximity to Australia makes its bilateral relationship
with Australia an important one for both

How Do New Technologies Face the Rapid Expansion of the...
The term data can be defined as numbers, characters, images or other method of recording, in a
form which can be assessed by a human or input into a computer (FOLDOC, 2007). It can be
processed or stored for posterior use. The stored data are called historical data which are collected
and amassed for potential future verification of events or as resources for further research. Two
types of data storage are presented: paper and electronic. The former way is very costly, difficult to
manage and even inefficient, especially when handling massive amounts of data, because it requires
a constant human resource personnel training and a long time to organize and audit the data. The
solution resides in using the electronic, or digital, data... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the hosting companies provide backup and recovery systems to guarantee a high
availability of the stored data. For instance, hosting companies keep redundant data files at different
data centers in diverse regions to secure the stored data even after large scale natural catastrophe
(Wisegeek, 2014). Moreover, the resources, physically, may be extended over multiple servers in
different sites, to which the customer has an easy remote access from any location or system
having an Internet connection. On this account, the online data storage is of benefit to the hosting
companies as well to the costumers. Actually, these companies can establish the data centers in
offshore locations and take advantage of lower installation costs.
In addition to the cost, storage technologies can be distinguished by evaluating some main
characteristics as well as performance, which is the time and the rate at which a piece of data can
be read from or written to the storage medium, and capacity, which denotes how much disk space
one or more storage devices provides (Techterms, 2009). To boost these fundamental characteristics,
other technologies emerged, such as Holographic Data Storage and DNA based Data Storage. The
Holographic Data Storage is a new emerging technology that helps considerably in high capacity
data storage by enhancing the process performance. Using this technology, the data writing and

Nationalism And Foreign Policy Making Essay
Research Proposal
Nationalism and Foreign Policy Making
Introduction
The general subject of this proposed study is Chinese nationalism and how it affects China s
foreign policy. More specifically, I will examine if, and how, domestic nationalist feelings impact
Chinese foreign policy. When analyzing the outcome I will focus on whether or not emergent
territorial concerns and traditional security issues will be put higher on the agenda after the level of
nationalism has increased.
Contribution to the State of Knowledge in the Field
My study will contribute to research focused specifically on the correlation between international
relations, nationalism and policymaking towards foreign countries in China. In her book Powerful
Patriots: Nationalist Protest in China s foreign relations Jessica Chen Weiss provided an analysis
of China s management of nationalist and anti foreign protests and their diplomatic consequences.
She focuses on the protest aspect of nationalism in China, and how protests are used as a tool by
Chinese officials in favor of their own agendas. This study will try to provide a comprehensive
frame of the impact of Chinese nationalism on two specific issues in Chinese foreign policy, that is
emergent territorial concerns (e.g. South China Sea) and traditional security issues (e.g. Taiwan).

Theoretical Assumptions
This study will rely upon a couple of theoretical assumptions made by other scholars. I want to

What Is Mardi Gras Parade
1.What is this parade called, and where is it located? What is this parade about? What are they
celebrating in this parade? Few parades are more iconic than the Mardi Gras parades of New
Orleans. Many may view Mardi Gras as simply a giant parade of debauchery centering around
revelry, alcohol, bead throwing and an excuse to bare skin. However, there are also those who do
not know that there are many parades rather than one Mardi Gras Parade. These parades are
deeply rooted in the history and society of New Orleans and its residents. These Parades are
celebrations leading up to Mardi Gras (translated to Fat Tuesday from the French) which marks the
beginning of the Christian Lent period. Lent involves fasting (with much of the focus on the
abstinence of meat consumption,) but Mardi Gras parade roots herald back to ancient Rome.
Roman men would disguise themselves during the winter solstice reveling in the streets to celebrate

Transcendentalism In Young Goodman Brown
In Young Goodman Brown , Hawthorne demonstrates common inter turmoil, especially in regard to
spiritual state. In an attempt to discover himself and satisfy his innermost being, Young Goodman
Brown becomes a shattered, shell of a man. The question at hand is not religion, nor is it purely
spiritual, Hawthorne simply encourages his reader to search themselves with the understanding and
realization that once searched, the readers may not like what they find. Hawthorne himself seems to
struggle with this reality as he straddled his Puritan upbringing and transcendentalist revelations, as
expressed through Young Goodman Browns realization of the hypocrisy of the Puritan with whom
he resides. Hawthorne shows the potential horror of man to his readers as hidden evil inside of
man. As Hawthorne develops his story, the reader is challenged by the nature of man, and what the
reader wants the nature of man to be, which Hawthorne understands to be sinful. The traveling
companion, the third character introduced to the reader, is a symbol of the inner demon residing
within Young GoodmanBrown. The companion was waiting for Young Goodman Brown, and
apparently in the same rank of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to
him, though perhaps more in expression than features (2). The readers see that the traveling
companion is a reflection of Goodman Brown because he looks like Goodman Brown, but the air
of the former reflects a tantalizing knowledge to

Murder Mystery Persuasive Essay
Getting revenge on a person for something they did previously because feeling as though they
did not get proper repercussions is often a recurring reason someone uses to try to justify actions
they do. In Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie, Samuel Ratchett, whose name is
actually Cassetti, is murdered in the middle of the night by twelve fellow passengers because of a
particular kidnapping he does years earlier, Daisy Armstrong. Hercule Poirot sets out to find out
who kills Ratchett. He originally suspects that it is just one person, but soon figures out that twelve
people were apart of the vicious attack. Vengeance is described as Punishment inflicted or
retribution exacted for an injury or wrong , while justice is described... Show more content on

For example, the murderers begin warning Ratchett of his approaching death with ominous letters.
The group constantly sends threatening letters, and notes about the Armstrong case to Ratchett that
eventually starts to make him seem paranoid and crazy. People around him just believe he is
losing his mind, so they ignore him until he is actually dead. Furthermore, the assassins attempt to
mislead the detectives when they purposely leave belongings of the murderer in Ratchett s room
to make it seem as though they are trying to incriminate that person. Colonel Arbuthnot is the only
person on the train who admits to smoking using a pipe, so the pipe cleaner found in Ratchett s
room makes it seem as though someone is trying to frame him. This makes the detectives feel as
though Colonel is innocent, which is another example of the processed thinking the murderers do.
Finally, Ratchett is stabbed twelve time, which is both a metaphor, and part of the revenge. The
group feels as though proper justice is not served in the Armstrong, so they stab Ratchett twelve
time symbolizing twelve jury members, as well as a stab for each other as revenge. Poirot realizes
the connection when he says, And then, Messieurs, I saw light. They were all in it. . . . A jury is
composed of twelve people there were twelve passengers Ratchett was stabbed twelve times (306).
The metaphor and emotion behind the stabbing makes it clear that the murder of Ratchett is an act
of pure vengeance. In conclusion, the most meticulous manner the murder is conducted is the
manner in which the murder is

The Effect Of The Reformation On The Roman Catholic Church
The Effect of the Reformation on the Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church grew
from an outlawed and persecuted religion to a well organized and powerful ruling body in the
western world. After the death of Jesus of Nazareth his disciples begin to spread his teachings of
love and salvation through a single God. However, early Christians quickly became seen as a
threat to the most powerful Empire at the time; Rome. Being monotheistic they refused to offer
sacrifice to state ran cults and as pacifist they refused to join the army. The Roman Empires power
laid in both the military and taxation so early Christians became the targets of persecution. In 64
CE Rome declares Christianityillegal and it remained so for almost three hundred years. However,
Christianity doesn t die and when Emperor Constantine made Christianity legal with the Edict of
Milan 313 the church grew quickly. Later Emperor Theodosius declares Catholic Christianity the
official religion of Rome and bans paganism. From here the Catholic Churchgrew in power and
influence becoming the single most powerful institution the western world. Socially it controlled
the everyday lives of people and played a major role in the governing of those same people.
Institutionally the church was well organized and based on hierarchy operating like an empire
similar to the one that tried to destroy it early in its history. Thanks to this the church also wielded
tremendous governing power. However, this all changed

The Husband Loathes His Wife s Birthmark
I found the husband interesting because of the way he completely loathes his wife s birthmark. His
hatred seems to be a symbol of people who are not content in their wonderful situation. The husband
says that the wife s face would be flawless and beautiful if it were without the crimson birthmark.
He loathes this birthmark so much that he says it reminds him of sin and earthliness, opposed to
perfection and heavenliness. I find interest in the husbands character because of his hate towards a
little thing that can be covered with two fingers. This obsession makes me think that the husband
character is a representation of people who complain about a small imperfection, inconvenience, or
issue in their life. Near the beginning of the story,

Hydrogen Atoms And Hydrogen Molecules
Water is a molecule which is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Water can
appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral
water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more
than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and
oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of
the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the
water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other
atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively
charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively
charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. Water has a high
specific heat capacity of 4181 J/Kg degrees which is higher than oxygen which has 918 J/Kg
degrees. If water is clean then the pH will be 7.Water has a neutral pH in its uncontaminated form
(pH 7).The intermolecular forces which are found in water are hydrogen bonding. Due to
hydrogen bonding the boiling point of water is high because hydrogen bonding is very powerful.

molecule. It is not as powerful as covalent bonds but it is more powerful

The Secret Intelligence Branch Of The Shin Bet
If there is one thing true about this documentary is the depressing, and pessimistic nature of it.
The Shin Bet, Israel s equivalent of the FBI act as the secret intelligence branch that serves to
protect Israel from behind the scenes, and Unseen Shield, if you will. The six ex leaders of the
Shin Bet all portray the recent decades of Israels undercover militaristic organisation by retelling
some of their past actions and experiences. All six tell of their actions, that would shock us
uninitiated civilians, with surprising bluntness. One man seems like the typical gentle grandpa
wearing suspenders, who is subsequently called a bully and a monster, another younger man is very
collected yet obviously troubled by the job. And then there is also Ami the bald gaunt man who
likes to quote intellectuals. All speak about the political history of Israel and how they re work has
fundamentally changed them. One of the most important change they face is their entire strategy
involving the Palestinian issue. Their tactics need to change from simply removing extremists to
diplomatic solutions. At the very beginning of the film the man Yuval Diskin introduces the most
thought provoking theme of the documentary, it s unnatural to have the power to give the word and
end a man s life in an instant. In these moments when a person has to decide between taking the
shot and killing a known terrorist and potentially innocent lives around him, or decline and let the

Essay about The Existence of God
We go through life drifting from one superficial disagreement to another without truly ever taking
the time to ponder about the meaning of life. Such a question will not be easily resolved but by
trying to answer it we stop daydreaming and extend our conception of ourselves while gaining
knowledge of the external world (Solomon 10). Unfortunately anyone who attempts to answer that
question quickly realizes that it isn t just one broad question but rather it s the slogan to an
overwhelming amount of enquiries. Out of all possible question the one that has had the most
influence on humanity is the notion of whether or not Godexists. Philosophers and non philosophers

Let s start with the fact that God is powerful enough to control human thought and action to such a
point that if he truly desired it we would not doubt his existence. Nevertheless such a doubt does
exist so it can be established that humanity has the capacity to choose a course of action from
among various other alternatives (Free Will) . Having that ability in conjunction to what many
philosophers claim to be a naturally selfish human nature results in a combination were the
prevailing outcome is human suffering. However not all suffering is a result of human action or
inaction which brings us to the following point.
Natural disasters and diseases that claim the lives of tens of thousands cannot be easily explained
with a concept such as free will. Not having an obvious explanation doesn t signify that there exists
no solution but rather that there are limitations to human knowledge. Take for example the vast
uncertainty surrounding certain scientific and mathematical matters of fact when many, if not all
philosophers, can agree that is attainable knowledge. If that restraint exists for such topics than the
likelihood that we will know or understand what God is like is considerably higher. For example
we cannot begin to understand the scope of divine love since the best indication that we have is
human love which oscillates over time or is easily broken.
God as already defined transcends our experience so how exactly can his existence be proven when

The Paradox Of Avatar
Movies create realities. As life tells the stories of each, each moulds the reality which he/she
believes in. Movies are like these stories of life, but recorded within the bandwidth of camera to
capture a perspective. Also, movies are applied to reality, are the reflection of the world, or are the
doorsteps of escaping reality fantasy. As of what James Camerons Avatar, this movie reflected the

dollars after dollars of sales and revenue. The question remains, what is the story of this movie?
As for these statements about Avatar, this blog would try to answer some key aspects of the film

The Superstitious And Mythical Figure Of The Vampire
The superstitious and mythical figure of the vampire has been seen throughout all era s off
history. It is a figure of mythology that is transcendent in an abundance of cultures and regions.
The most significant aspect of the vampire is its ability to redefine itself throughout history and
continued to stay relevant to society. The most modern and commonly known definition of
vampires is a preternatural being know to be a corpse that resurrects from the dead and lives of
the living, by draining humans of their blood, until a it is impaled by a wooden stick or burned. In
ancient history we see the myth of the vampireappearing in burial traditions, showing vast
similarities to the modern day definition of the vampire. We see this appear in various cultures and
regions like the Tibetans, ancient Babylonia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome (Wotherspoon, 6 8).
In The Tibetan Book of the Dead, it is explained by Lama Kazi Dawa that, they believe if a spirit
sees its corpse, it will try to reclaim its body resulting in vampirism. For this reason, it was
common for Tibetans to opt out of an earth burial and chose a fire burial or in modern terms
cremation (Dawa Samdup, 26). In ancient Babylonia, a tablet was found with an inscription that
explains their burial traditions. In this inscription, it states the Babylonians belief that if specific
burial traditions where not followed an evil force will come from their grave (Summers, 220). This
belief could very well be a parallel to the

Genetic And Non Genetic Mechanisms Of Inheritance Essay
Regina Noel
10/19/2016
Epigenetics: Genetic and Non Genetic Mechanisms of Inheritance When discussing the topic of
genetics, it is typically viewed from the perspective of Mendelian inheritance in which genes are
transmitted from parent to offspring solely through the use of genetic alleles, which are the
alternative form of genes that have varying DNA sequences and chromosomes that affect the
phenotype, visual gene trait (Toth. 2015). If and how a genetic trait is expressed is whether the
alleles for that trait are dominant or recessive. Dominant alleles are genes that have a higher
probability of being expressed in the offspring than a recessive allele. In the case of dominate
alleles; there are two possible combinations that its gene can still be expressed with, homozygous
(which contains two dominant alleles) and heterozygous (which contains a dominant and recessive
allele). On the other hand, recessive alleles can only be expressive if it is homozygous (which
contains two recessive alleles) (Reece et al. 2013). Since Gregor Mendel s discovery of alleles and
genetic inheritance, there has been research shows that there are more mechanisms of inheriting
traits which do not include changing the nucleotide sequence of DNA. This form of non genetic
inheritance is called epigenetic modification. One example of epigenetic modification is DNA
methylation. DNA methylation is when methyl groups, which are chemical groups that contain one
carbon bound to three hydrogen atoms,

Suffering In Tolstoy s The Death Of Ivan Ilych
In the Death of Ivan Ilych you learn a lot about people. Ivan Ilych was an ordinary person; he had
a family, bridge set and plenty of friends. Yet when he becomes stricken with a terminal illness
everything seems to disappear. The only person that he finds comfort in toward the end of his life is
his butler. I believe that there are three themes that are more prevalent than the others. The first of
those themes is suffering, the second is modernization and the final theme is isolation. In Tolstoys
novella suffering is a major influence on the way that the novella ends. The one constant in The
Deathof Ivan Ilych, is suffering. When Ilych gets a strange disease, his body slowly starts going
to pieces and physical pain replaces his pleasant life. The author uses Ivan s death to show how
much suffering has gone beyond the physical. Ivan suffers from fear, hopelessness, and a sense of...

Throughout the novella the doctors appear as arrogant and useless. By the end of the story s, it
s pretty clear that they have not given the dying Ivan Ilych any medical help. If anything, they ve
only made his situation worse. Through the experience of Ivan Ilych with his doctors, Tolstoy
suggests that modern medicine is a bad thing and is showing society s refusal to come to terms
with death. Ivan Ilych s experience of death in the Death of Ivan Ilych is progressed by a
growing sense of isolation. His suffering and fear of death have the effect of completely cutting
him off from the world around him. For his friends, colleagues, and family members, life goes on
just as before. Ivan is dissapointed when he discovers that none of them seem to understand or
care about what he s experiencing. He has to face his fears and agonies alone, without comfort
from anyone except a servant, the one person who pities him. Ivan Ilych finds solace from the
person he never thought he would have, a butler of

Steel City Research Paper
Pittsburgh the Steel City , City of Bridges , and the City of Champions was once considered to be
disturbingly polluted. It is now more environmentally friendly. Green buildings, less water
pollution, and all the other things that make Pittsburgh better. The thesis statement goes here.
Pittsburgh geography created a strange city layout. George Woods and Thomas Vickroy created
the layout of the Golden Triangle 1784. The design was called the Woods Vickroy double grid
plan. The Great of 1854 destroyed roughly 1,000 buildings and one third of the Golden Triangle.
Pittsburghis called the City of Bridges because it has 446 of them. The Smithfield Street Bridge is
the oldest extant bridges. It was built from 1881 to 1883. It was not the first bridge to built in
that spot. The first bridge to built there was Pittsburgh first bridge, a wooden bridge designed by
Lewis Wernwag. That bridge was destroyed in the Great Fire. John Roebling s suspension bridge
was built next. The bridge was destroyed a year later due to stability. Then there are the Three
Sisters bridges. Vernon Covell and his group of engineers plus an architect by the name Stanley

A Mine Of Coal
In a mine of coal, it seemed for a while that I was the speck of gold, The bright one, the
entertaining one, the one who offered others a glimmer of hope after anguish and despair. I was
the class clown who would suavely state something incredibly witty, resulting in a chuckle from
people of all personality types. I walked with people of all kinds be it the jocks at the top of the
food chain, or Pokemon warriors. Whoever I believed had good intentions, I would allow to
walk on my side. Yes, I was kicked out of class on a daily basis. Yes, I had more saturday schools
than days in the year. Yes, I was absolutely, undeniably annoying at points, and although,
ultimately I m glad I ve changed, to be quite honest I do miss that aspect of my personality a bit,
as it was such a pleasant period in my life. A period where I had no inhibitions, and stopped at
nothing to experience my God given free will. Some felt as if I was over the top, and completely
annoying, which absolutely had no effect on me. Anxiety was to me as sadness is to sunshine
completely out of my capability. I loved my spunk, and knew that it was my defining trait. That
is....... until I hit my ninth grade year. Long story short, I had a scandal, which spread like a
wildfire, and caused me to lose my reputation I had worked so diligently on to perfect. People who
I considered friends completely turned on me, let alone those who didn t know my name. Even

As the message arrives at the end of the nerves, the message is transmitted to the muscles. Before
the message is transmitted to the muscles it has to pass the space between the end of the nerve and
the muscle, and that space is called neuromuscular junction. The message is transmitted from the
brain to the end of the nerve and from the nerve to the neuromuscular junction, and when the
message arrives the chemical called neurotransmitters are released.
When acetylcholine reaches the muscles side of neuromuscular junction, it attaches and locks into
receptors. If anything interferes with these steps, the nerve will not be able to control muscle
contraction. When there is an interruption of normal communication between the nerves and the
muscles at the neuromuscular junction, myasthenia gravis occur. This interruption is caused by
antibodies that prevent acetylcholine from reaching muscle by destroying or blocking the receptors.
Figure 3: Symptoms
Myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscles. They may affect muscles that control the
eyelid movement, facial expression and swallowing. The most symptoms of myasthenia gravis that
can be noticed are the weakness of the eye muscle that causes double vision. Some symptoms of
myasthenia gravis may include unstable walk, arm weakness, weakness in hands, fingers, legs and
neck, change in facial expression, having a hard time swallowing, shortness of breath, and having

The Ram Psychoanalysis
A psychoanalytical model of media analysis focuses on the conscious and unconscious processes
of social interactions (Berger 69). An individual s mind can be compared to an iceberg. The
visible part of the iceberg, the tip, is what a person is conscious of, while the larger part of the
iceberg, which is hidden under the water, is what a person is unconscious of. Sigmund Freudonce
stated that what is in your mindis not identical with what you are conscious of, whether something
is going on in your mind and whether you hear of it, are two different things (Berger 70). Freud is
saying that we are not always in complete control of our actions. We often do things without

Three Pillars
According to the Grand Canyon University College of Business their mission statement is, To

in any personal venture one must be committed to their cause and posses certain qualities that help
support their end goal. Entering into the GCU College of Business it is important to understand the

An article entitled, Leading Innovation in a Risk Averse Healthcare Environment, by Michael O
Brien describes how decisions in healthcare innovation are being decided by hospital CFOs
because budget plays such a large role in the ability to make health care advancements. Innovation
is present on all levels, practitioners are creating new innovative medications and techniques that
can boost research funding, CFOs are looking at innovative ways to restructure budgets to meet
the rising cost demands and nurses and/or therapists are looking for innovative therapy
applications to improve patient outcome and support successful healing once discharged from the
hospital. Disruptive innovation is constantly present in medicine since this science is only a
practice and is constantly evolving in the presence of new research. As a healthcare leader I
encourage my peers to constantly be trying to find innovations in their practice. When a practice
becomes stagnant there is limited chance for growth and an individual s motivation can be stunted.
Innovation requires that organizations let go of old work and take on new (O Brien, p.113)
Whether it be an innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit or acting as a servant leader the college of
business is establishing our foundation to be breakthrough resources in our industries. The lesson
of a servant leadership style reminds us to be humble in our approach when leading others and to

the quote i chose was by margaret thatcher and it states ВЁyou may have to fight a battle more
than once to win itВЁ. i believe in some ways this quote is true because a person can not succeed
if they just give up. to me this quote tells me to keep trying and to not give up the first sign of
trouble. no one can succeed the first time it takes time and effort. because to be good at anything
you need to work hard.then after your hard work and dedication you could reach your goals set

Most Memorable Childhood Event
My Most Memorable Event
My most memorable childhood event was when I was 13 years old; it was the Fourth of July. A
big family vacation a barbeque, overnight stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast
the night before me, my mom, sisters and brothers packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin
house in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion;
five bedrooms two and half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It
was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income
apartment on the East side of Nashville.
Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of
town. We greeted each other and we went on about our business. As my grandmother, mom, and
aunts prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table s
playing cards, dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me
my siblings and cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek
anything that you could think of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered
together and said prey and feast. After dinner was served everyone went to movie room for family
time. We watched a movie called Madea s Family Reunion by Tyler Perry. The Movie reminded me
so much of my family. It let me know that family is everything and no family is perfect. We just
have to learn to stick

beginning of this is the kids menus in order to include those demographics, all the way to the

the more gourmet items in order to bring in the more sophisticated demographics. Burgers and
fries and salads and kids meals seemed to incorporate all the above. The fast food sandwich industry
is extremely competitive and demand ever changing therefore it is very important that all chains
keep alert and willing to make changes.
Economic Characteristics
Most of the economic trends in the sandwich industry have evolved around value, convenience and
quality. Although customers are concerned about the trends mentioned, one lawsuit quickly
brought about sudden change. Teenagers were suing the fast food industry around the idea that fast
food was making them obese. Thus, the industry needed to reposition their focus and offer a
healthier menu to meet customer demand. Therefore, the industry focused on salads, turkey
burgers and fire grilled burgers rather than those cooked in their fat.
At the same time, the industry was beginning to focus on kid s menus. While parents were

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Currency Union In Mexico
Precious Dyer
Professor Takeshi Yagihashi
ECON 305
December 2, 2014
Currency Union Mexico
Modern day Mexico has gone though many economic difficulties from government corruption and
mass immigration from the country, to inflation in currency. A country that relies heavily on the
service and textile industry. As of today economic standing is very good and the country continues
to grow, as of right now Mexico is the 14th largest in the world in nominal terms and the 10th
largest by purchasing power. The country has sustained macroeconomics stability and moved
forward in reducing inflation and interest rates and has increased per capita income in household.
The forming of a currency union also known as a monetary union is usually when two or more
states or sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way the union takes away is the independence of the country since membership of the eurozone
establishes a single monetary policy, individual member states can no longer act autonomously,
preventing them from printing money in order to pay back creditors and ease their risk of failure
to pay. By printing money a country s currency is devalued relative to its (eurozone) trading
partners, making its exports cheaper, in principle leading to an improved balance of trade, increased
GDP and higher tax revenues in nominal terms.
There are many advantages to establishing a monetary union especially for Mexico a new growing
economic country. One advantage of creating a currency union would be an end to currency
instability in the country and untimely fix the exchange rate. If Mexico was to join a union with
the likes of The United States and Canada, Mexico would become more stable against any
speculation than just as an individual country. Also the union would result in lower interest rates in
the long run just like seen in Europe with the EU.
A North American Union like this will also force

  • 2. Genetic Mutation In biology, term mutation has been described as changes to the base pair sequence of the genetic material of an organism. Mutations can be caused by: copying errors in the genetic material during cell division, by exposure to ultraviolet or ionizing radiation, chemical mutagens, or viruses, or can occur deliberately under cellular control during processes such as hypermutation. In multicellular organisms, mutations can be subdivided into germ line mutations, which can be passed on to descendants, and somatic mutations, which cannot be transmitted to descendants in animals. Plants sometimes can transmit somatic mutations to their descendants asexually or sexually (in case when flower buds develop in somatically mutated part of plant). A... This disease produces chronic anemia, which may become life threatening when hemolytic crises (the breakdown of redblood cells) or aplastic crises (bone marrow fails to produce blood cells) occur. The incidence of this disorder is 1/400 African Americans and 8/100,000 people. The manifestations of this disease are a result of the fragility and inflexibility of the sickle red bloodcells. When exposed to a lack of water, infection, and low oxygen supply, these delicate red blood cells take the shape of a crescent. This then causes blood cell devastation and thickening of the blood. Sickle cell anemia has the potential to be life threatening and can affect other body systems and parts of the body. Those included are the nervous system, bones, the kidneys and the liver. Maternal PKU is a genetic disorder that stems from point mutation. 1/15,000 people fall victim to this disorder. Phenylketonuria (PKU) has been shown as a cause of retardation in infant fetuses. Children in the fetus begin with a normal amount of phenylalanine hydroxylase but are affected by the mother s elevated phenylalanine level due to the imbalance of prenatal amino acid. Mental deficiency is clearly evident in disorder and usually consists of I.Q.s of 50. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Victims Of The Revolutionary Era Essay Victims of the Revolutionary Era Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been, written by Joyce Carol Oates, portrays the fast cultural transition that heavily impacted teenager s behavior in the 1960 s. The new style of music is an example of how the rapidly cultural transition highly influenced adolescent s behavior from that generation, initiating a revolutionary era. It was a time when culture was rapidly changing. A sexual revolution was taking place, leading people, especially teenagers, to question the traditional and religious beliefs of previous generations. In addition, it was a phase which peace and love was emphasized by the ongoing Vietnam war, driving people to promote peace and love amongst themselves for the whole decade, especially through rock and roll music. Even as the peace and love movement arose, a series of murders occurred in Tucson, AZ. Charles Howard Schmid Jr., a 23 year old man, brutally murdered numerous girls and made national headlines. A creepy predator was Oates s inspiration to create the unscrupulous character: Arnold Friend. Oates creates the perfect picture of a 1960 s typical teenager that gets caught in the middle of the revolutionary era; and eventually becomes a victim of Arnold Friend. Connie is a 15 year old girl who lives an ordinary life; confused about the girl she is, and the woman she is becoming. Being a teenager is not an easy thing overall, for any girl, in any era. Furthermore, she lives in a fast paced, transitional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Company Culture And Employee Motivation According to consultant and entrepreneur Dave Gray Connected companies have the advantage in today s connected world, because they learn and move faster than their competitors . Watch the presentation on key principles and critically discuss the challenges and benefits for company culture and employee motivationto accommodate this type of structure. Refer to examples of existing companies using this structure and relevant theory. There has been a change in company culture since the 1930 s due to the rise of service industries and the steady decline of manufacturing. Management style affects both company culture and employee motivation. Connected companies focus on the individual worker and each employee is given a responsibility. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a hierarchy of authority and leadership as well as a strong chain of command. The leadership style is therefore very authoritative and task oriented. The communication runs from the top down and the workers at the operational level have no power in comparison to top level management and CEO s. This works well in manufacturing companies because it is a relatively stable industry and is suited to this rational and task oriented approach. The aim of the rational goal model is to maximize output and key writers on this include Smith, Frederick and Ford. The philosophy of Adam Smith revolved around managers finding the optimal use of resources within organisations, with no regard for the well being of the worker. He advocated the division of labour to increase productivity and wrote about this in his 1776 book The Wealth of Nations where he used a Pin Factory as a model to illustrate the benefits of labour division. He proved that when manufacturing is divided into a series of small tasks, such that each individual performs the same task over and over again, the production line moves much quicker. This promotes efficiency in the use of resources. However, he also discovered through this example that this type of repetitive work has negative effect of workers intellect, happiness and motivation. The development of scientific management by Frederick Taylor also played a role in defining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By doing so I can see if any of my diet choices are putting me at risk for certain health diseases, and what changes can be made to make my diet healthier. After analyzing my diet, I would say I am fairly healthy, though I am out of the target range in a few areas. My profile calculated from my weight and height indicates that I have a BMI of 20.5. This is considered to be healthy; the healthy range is anywhere between 18.5 25. This was reassuring to hear because I am happy at my current weight, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protein is responsible 18% of my calories, where fats make up 35% and carbohydrates are 47%. To better evenly distribute my calories, I can lower my fat intake by about 10% to be in the range of 20 25%. By doing so I would decrease the amount of fat I eat by about 25 26 grams which make about 25% of my calories from fat. With the decrease of those calories, I could increase my carbohydrate intake by about 57 58 grams, this would leave me at the same caloric intake. By increasing the amount of carbohydrates consumed by 57 grams this would raise the percentage that carbohydrates are adding to my calories by 10% putting my total percent to 57%. This would be more in the middle of the AMDR, which is 45 65% of my total calories. While looking at the break down of my fat intake, it shows that my percent of unsaturated to saturated fats is almost equal with saturated fats being 40%, and a combination of all the unsaturated fats equalling to 37%. From the bar chart I already recognized that my saturated fat intake is higher than it should be, and evidence from this report only backs up this fact. Optimally I would like to have my unsaturated fats be higher than my saturated fats. However, within unsaturated fats, I would like to change the ratio of mono and poly unsaturated fats. The change I would like to see would be a lowering the amount of mono and increasing the amounts of poly unsaturated that I consume. From the bar report as well my results showed ... Increasing pressures to fill vacancies is resulting in clinically skilled but often underprepared nurses being selected for nursing leadership positions (Titzer Shirley, 2013). Lack of formal preparation renders many aspiring nurse managers ineffective which has been associated with negative implications such as role transition stress, poor work environment, and increased turnover (Titzer Shirley, 2013). I was excited about the prospect of teaching reading, writing, and mathematics to underprivileged students in areas of my country that needed education more than anything else to bring them into the modern era. I had seen the difference a few good teachers had made in my life. It was one of my earliest ideas to help the youth in my country rise above the limitations of their past and see the possibilities available to them with hard work in school. However, as much as I wanted to become an accountant, I knew I would prefer teaching accounting more than actually being an accountant. Over time the subjects I want to teach have changed, but my enthusiasm is still the same. I keep thinking that there is no better place to change the world than in a classroom. In the beginning I wanted to become an elementary school teacher, and later I wanted to become an accounting teacher. Now I want to become a Spanish teacher at the postsecondary level. So why do I want to become a Spanish teacher? I love the idea of teaching something once and knowing my students will be able to apply or share their information many times. For instance, if I teach my students how to casually greet native Spanish speakers instead of using formal addresses that are found in textbooks; the next time they go to a Mexican restaurant, they can speak to their server in a friendlier manner. Even if this seems insignificant, the Mexican waiter will appreciate the effort and the American will be better off than if they only established a monolingual conversation. The one thing about violence is that it also leads to crimes. And crimes leads to some people being imprisoned, while others are put on death row. But if crimes are crimes, what makes them minor or major? Who decides if they are minor or major? Nowadays minor and major crimes are being pushed together. Also Robinson adds Some experts believe deciding to limit the death penalty will no longer make it a potential deterrent to criminals (Robinson par. 24). If the death penalty is restricted then there is no hope of it having an effect on the population a little as time passes. Robinsons also wrote about how the death penalty should be used: More discriminate use of the death penalty reserving its use for only highly aggravated crimes, the worst of the worst will lessen the risk of flawed convictions and sentences and ensure that those who really deserve to be on death row will be executed. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass than other animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its forepaws heavy enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. Then 73,000 years later, the continent dried and the Sahara expanded, isolating off the lions in the west from those in the north. Western countries were able to control other nations by coercing them into unfair trading treaties which would leave the country economically dependent on them. The countries rarely resisted successfully due to their insufficient military power. This occured often Asia with only Japan and Thailand remaining independent. Only Japan thrived however and became an imperial power. Japan was an isolated country until the United States forcibly opened it to trade. Japan experienced a regime change following a tumultuous time in which western nations coerced Japan into trade treaties. The new government favored capitalismand industry which lead to Japan industrializing impressively fast through top down government mandated modernization. Western imperialism forced Japan to modernize in order to remain a sovereign and successful state. Modernization in this case was synonymous with becoming more like the West. Imperialism drastically changed Japanese economic interaction as well as Japanese culture and class system because modernization included becoming more like the West in most aspects but their treatment of women remained the same because the West did not treat women very differently. The Effect Of The Reformation On The Roman Catholic Church The Effect of the Reformation on the Roman Catholic Church The Roman Catholic Church grew from an outlawed and persecuted religion to a well organized and powerful ruling body in the western world. Water can appear in forms like gasses (steam/water vapor from a kettle), liquids (drinking water or mineral water), and a solid form (ice is the only example of solidified water). The human body has more than a half of total water content. Water has specialised properties as the hydrogen (2 atoms) and oxygen(1 atom) connect to each other to make a water molecule. The hydrogen atoms join the top of the water molecule when the hydrogen atoms connect with oxygen. This structure means that the water has polarity. Polarity is an electric charge which has the power to get the attention of other atoms. The last part of the water molecule contains two hydrogen bonds which are positively charged however, the hydrogen bondwhich connects the oxygen to the hydrogen s is negatively charged that is why they have each other s attention as opposites attract. All six tell of their actions, that would shock us uninitiated civilians, with surprising bluntness. One man seems like the typical gentle grandpa wearing suspenders, who is subsequently called a bully and a monster, another younger man is very collected yet obviously troubled by the job. And then there is also Ami the bald gaunt man who likes to quote intellectuals. All speak about the political history of Israel and how they re work has fundamentally changed them. One of the most important change they face is their entire strategy involving the Palestinian issue. Their tactics need to change from simply removing extremists to diplomatic solutions. At the very beginning of the film the man Yuval Diskin introduces the most thought provoking theme of the documentary, it s unnatural to have the power to give the word and end a man s life in an instant. In these moments when a person has to decide between taking the shot and killing a known terrorist and potentially innocent lives around him, or decline and let the man go on to do some ... • 32. Essay about The Existence of God We go through life drifting from one superficial disagreement to another without truly ever taking the time to ponder about the meaning of life. Such a question will not be easily resolved but by trying to answer it we stop daydreaming and extend our conception of ourselves while gaining knowledge of the external world (Solomon 10). Unfortunately anyone who attempts to answer that question quickly realizes that it isn t just one broad question but rather it s the slogan to an overwhelming amount of enquiries. Out of all possible question the one that has had the most influence on humanity is the notion of whether or not Godexists. Philosophers and non philosophers alike from ancient civilizations to our modern era have contributed their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s start with the fact that God is powerful enough to control human thought and action to such a point that if he truly desired it we would not doubt his existence. Nevertheless such a doubt does exist so it can be established that humanity has the capacity to choose a course of action from among various other alternatives (Free Will) . Having that ability in conjunction to what many philosophers claim to be a naturally selfish human nature results in a combination were the prevailing outcome is human suffering. However not all suffering is a result of human action or inaction which brings us to the following point. Natural disasters and diseases that claim the lives of tens of thousands cannot be easily explained with a concept such as free will. Not having an obvious explanation doesn t signify that there exists no solution but rather that there are limitations to human knowledge. Take for example the vast uncertainty surrounding certain scientific and mathematical matters of fact when many, if not all philosophers, can agree that is attainable knowledge. If that restraint exists for such topics than the likelihood that we will know or understand what God is like is considerably higher. For example we cannot begin to understand the scope of divine love since the best indication that we have is human love which oscillates over time or is easily broken. God as already defined transcends our experience so how exactly can his existence be proven when all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Superstitious And Mythical Figure Of The Vampire The superstitious and mythical figure of the vampire has been seen throughout all era s off history. It is a figure of mythology that is transcendent in an abundance of cultures and regions. The most significant aspect of the vampire is its ability to redefine itself throughout history and continued to stay relevant to society. The most modern and commonly known definition of vampires is a preternatural being know to be a corpse that resurrects from the dead and lives of the living, by draining humans of their blood, until a it is impaled by a wooden stick or burned. In ancient history we see the myth of the vampireappearing in burial traditions, showing vast similarities to the modern day definition of the vampire. We see this appear in various cultures and regions like the Tibetans, ancient Babylonia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome (Wotherspoon, 6 8). In The Tibetan Book of the Dead, it is explained by Lama Kazi Dawa that, they believe if a spirit sees its corpse, it will try to reclaim its body resulting in vampirism. For this reason, it was common for Tibetans to opt out of an earth burial and chose a fire burial or in modern terms cremation (Dawa Samdup, 26). In ancient Babylonia, a tablet was found with an inscription that explains their burial traditions. In this inscription, it states the Babylonians belief that if specific burial traditions where not followed an evil force will come from their grave (Summers, 220). • 39. Genetic And Non Genetic Mechanisms Of Inheritance Essay Regina Noel 10/19/2016 Epigenetics: Genetic and Non Genetic Mechanisms of Inheritance When discussing the topic of genetics, it is typically viewed from the perspective of Mendelian inheritance in which genes are transmitted from parent to offspring solely through the use of genetic alleles, which are the alternative form of genes that have varying DNA sequences and chromosomes that affect the phenotype, visual gene trait (Toth. 2015). If and how a genetic trait is expressed is whether the alleles for that trait are dominant or recessive. Dominant alleles are genes that have a higher probability of being expressed in the offspring than a recessive allele. In the case of dominate alleles; there are two possible combinations that its gene can still be expressed with, homozygous (which contains two dominant alleles) and heterozygous (which contains a dominant and recessive allele). On the other hand, recessive alleles can only be expressive if it is homozygous (which contains two recessive alleles) (Reece et al. 2013). Since Gregor Mendel s discovery of alleles and genetic inheritance, there has been research shows that there are more mechanisms of inheriting traits which do not include changing the nucleotide sequence of DNA. This form of non genetic inheritance is called epigenetic modification. One example of epigenetic modification is DNA methylation. DNA methylation is when methyl groups, which are chemical groups that contain one carbon bound to three hydrogen atoms, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Most Memorable Childhood Event My Most Memorable Event My most memorable childhood event was when I was 13 years old; it was the Fourth of July. A big family vacation a barbeque, overnight stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the night before me, my mom, sisters and brothers packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin house in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; five bedrooms two and half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the East side of Nashville. Arriving to my cousin house I saw a lot of my family members even the ones that was from out of town. We greeted each other and we went on about our business. As my grandmother, mom, and aunts prepared the food for the barbeque. The other adult gathered around different table s playing cards, dominos, shooting dice, and watching movies or sports on TV. I remember me my siblings and cousins played outside from swimming; sports, danced and hide go seek anything that you could think of for children to do. When the food was ready we gathered together and said prey and feast. After dinner was served everyone went to movie room for family time. We watched a movie called Madea s Family Reunion by Tyler Perry. The Movie reminded me so much of my family. It let me know that family is everything and no family is perfect. We just have to learn to stick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A country that relies heavily on the service and textile industry. As of today economic standing is very good and the country continues to grow, as of right now Mexico is the 14th largest in the world in nominal terms and the 10th largest by purchasing power.
