Cognitive Development And Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive...
The third operation within the Pre operational stage is Class Inclusion . This is when children begin to
understand classification, for example, Dalmatians, Greyhounds and Spaniels would be ably classed as
dogs. Children who had not reached this stage would struggle with the concept that categories may be
divided into subsets, for example, a dog is also an Animal. However, a study by Sugier and Svetner
(2006) found children as young as 5 to have an understanding of class inclusion, when presented with
a class inclusion test, whereas Piaget believed this wouldn t happen until the child is 7 years old.
(younger children, within this stage or before? Or that they still do struggle within this stage?)
The third stage of Piaget s theory of cognitive development is the Stage of concrete operations. Within
this stage, children still struggle with abstract ideas and concepts, as well as imagining objects or
situations they cannot see. In addition, Piaget claimed for his theory to be universal, however research
suggests that not everyone reaches the stage of concrete operations. Research by Maclean (2001)
found that the concrete stage has more to do with culture and school rather than brain maturation.
Therefore, if cognitive development was purely biological, theoretically, late school starters, and those
in poverty with a lack of education (which is important in rational thinking) should have the same
level of logical thinking. (?)
The final stage in Piaget s theory is the

Copyright In Graphic Design Essay
The Importance of Copyright in Graphic Design
Copyrights are necessary for protecting the ideas of people. Protecting ideas mean that other people
are not given the right to make money off of one s ideas. Most of the time graphic designers, artist,
photographers, etc. go to school to be better at what they do and people stealing their ideas is
something that needs to stop. They pay to make more money in their future careers and people are just
taking that money away from them. It also causes people to lose their jobs.
For example, Kerry Gorgone states in the {grow} Contributing Columnist article, Despite rising
demand, there is an expectation of free, leaving musicians, artists, and writers to scramble for a living.

Even though a copyright holder has rights in a work, those rights, with limited exception, cannot be
enforced through the courts unless the work is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. Without
registration, a copyright holder cannot bring a lawsuit for copyright infringement. (22)
If your company owns a copyright on any work that s registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, it can
seek a court injunction that commands the infringing party to immediately cease and desist publication
or performance of the work in question. This action is immediate. It moves much more quickly than
criminal or civil proceedings against an infringing party, and it can at least stop additional losses due
to copyright infringement. (20) Wilhelm Schnotz writes in his article Pros Cons of Copyright Laws.
If a copyright has been infringed, the owner may sue the infringer in federal court, seeking an
injunction against future violations of the copyrights. The owner may recover actual damages, which
are losses plus the infringer s profits from use of the copyrighted work. Or, any time before a court
issues a final judgment, the owner can elect to receive a set amount in damages as defined in the
copyright statute, in lieu of actual

Reflection Paper On Travel Pack
Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to create
possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that aims to bring
travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this reflective essay, I will
be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how groupware relates to Travel Pack and
how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust. Throughout this essay I will report, relate and
reason, and reflect on my experiences on the project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters
found that there was a struggle when travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or
people to meet. Many backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with
knowing what is happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we
wanted to create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around
the globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that
allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area.
The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They are
then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi , Popular
Attraction and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able

Damning Of The Masses Essay
Damning of the Masses
That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved.
Romans 10: 9
From the time we are small children sitting in Sunday school not able to fully grasp the love of God
that we sing simple songs about, we are taught that Jesus was sent to earth to love us no matter what.

love God as he loves us.
Edwards also fails to emphasize a major thematic concept of the Bible love. The word love is used in
539 verses of the Bible. In this sermon it is used only four times. Only two of those times directly
refer to Christ s love for us. Edwards seems to have shaded this crucial aspect of salvation.
In the very small section of Edwards sermon that he gives his listeners a way out of being dropped like
a spider into the fiery lake, he fails to give their terror release, still making his message into a threat.
Jesus never threatened. God never finds pleasure in the damning of men s souls. The Lord wishes only
for us to be with him.
I agree with Edwards that if we do not come to Christ and obey His commands that we will spend
eternity in hell, but I also believe that our God is a god of infinite grace and love. This is something
Edwards seems not to have felt or appears to have interpreted in a way that makes God into a spiteful,
jealous god waiting to crush us at any moment. If only Edwards would have realized how crucial
Christ s message of love was to the salvation of his congregation. His powerful invitation of
deliverance would have given people hope and a more

Hair Straightener Research Paper
There are so many hair straighteners on the market today that it can become very confusing to know
which straightener to buy. There are straighteners with different plate materials (ceramic, tourmaline,
aluminum)and different sizes of plates, some are labelled ionic and some digital. How do you know
which is best? These tips should help you decide what you need and which is the best straightener for
you.
The first thing we will look at is the material of the plates. The most popular types of plates are made
of ceramic although some are made of tourmaline. These materials when heated create negative ions.
This is good for your hair because they counteract the positive charges in your hair that get there by
brushing and everyday activities and which make styling it difficult. The name ionic only ... Show

digital hair straightener that has a microprocessor built in.
Wet to Dry Straighteners. You can use a straightener that is specifically made to style your hair while
it is wet if you are in a hurry, even though it is best to straighten you hair when it is completely dry.
The moisture is allowed to escape your hair through stream in specially made channels.
Having decided on a hair straightener, the next step is to learn how to use it properly. Here are some
tips to help;
You will want to make sure that you hair is dry and clean before you start to straighten it. Your hair
can be damaged if you try to style it when it is wet. For the best results do not use any products that
can cause build up on your hair because it will cause your hair to clump. To make sure that you hair is
in the best condition for hair straightening you will want to wash your hair with moisturising shampoo

Thin Layer Chromatography Of Amino Acid
Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of Amino Acids
Introduction:
Thin layer chromatography (TLC) separates compounds, through migration, from a mixed solution
with the assistance of a solvent and an absorbent strip of cellulose. The purpose of this lab is to allow
students to determine an unknown amino acid by comparing results to six known amino acids (slowest
to fastest: lysine, glycine, alanine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, and leucine) and properly separate a
combined solution of amino acids using the TLC method. But to fully understand the lab, two terms
must be understood: amino acid and protein. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins linked by
peptide bonds that contain both carboxyl and amino functional groups.
The six amino acids used in this experiment: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rf values for known and unknown amino acids. Lanes 2 and 4 were used to identify the unknown
(Unknown T) amino acid with the slight assistance of Lane 1.
Discussion:
Based on my results from Lanes 2 and 4, I predict Unknown T to contain both lysine and glycine
based on the slow reaction/movement the unknown experienced once the solvent was introduced and
the shortest distance it underwent. My prediction was supported with the development of Lane 2. As I
analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the
lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown
was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to
corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely
match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane
4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my
theory as

John Adams Essay
John Adams
John Adams was born on October 30, 1735, in Massachusetts Bay. He was born in a well to do family
of five. He is the eldest son and was named after his father, John Adams. Young Adams was able to
receive a proper childhood education, as his father was a deacon of the Congregational church, as well
as a lieutenant of the local militia. Despite his busy schedule, his main interest and occupation was
farming.
At 1761, Adams father passed away due to the flu epidemic. His mother remarried at 1766, but young
john did not get along with his stepfather. Young Adams was not very bright at his studies, but through
his tutor, Joseph Marsh, guidance, he was able to go to Harvard College at the age of 16. At the age of

Another case that made Adams famous was the Boston Massacre at 1770. It was the act of British
soldiers who fired at mob of Boston citizen. As a result, five civilians were killed, including Cripus
Attucks. Upon the event, many political groups and citizens were unhappy. It was the starting of an
anti British fever. Paul Revere made an engraving that depicted captain Thomas Preston gave the order
to start firing at the defenseless crowd. To calm the situation down, Governor Hutchinson, promised
the people to imprison the captain and soldiers, and they would also be trial upon their action. In the
afternoon, the Sons of Liberty held a meeting at the Faneuil Hall, demanding that all British should be
driven out of Boston. No lawyer was brave enough to take the case except John Adams and another
young lawyer Josiah Quincy. Preston and his man should be trial on September, but his men made a
petition to the court that they wanted to be trial together at one time. The petition was denied and on
October 24, 1770, Preston was the first to be trialed. This was the first case that was held longer than
one day in Massachusetts. Adams, leading the defense, had called for at least twenty two witnesses in
one day and none of them had heard Preston ordered his troops to start firing. On October 30, 1770,
the juries had dropped the charge on Preston. Soon, it was the soldiers trials. Witnesses said that the
troops acted on self defense, as the crowd was throwing

Perfect Octave-Personal Narrative
So I am not going lie. I have never been to a concert but I will be talking about a life changing event I
had with music in this essay. I would have to say life as a whole can be perfect and will have it ups
and downs no matter where you see you it. But for this paper I would have to start in school. Like any
other day I would have to say, it s like a Tuesday or maybe a Wednesday, but we as a class were going
into the studio. As we enter you talk about having a deeper relationship with the song and not just
saying oh that so good or oh god that was perfect . There s other ways of saying that and even a deeper
way of saying of that was a perfect Octave. But after each song play there will be some kind of feeling
being left.
Music is the one thing in this world that we all share if we like it or not. We won t all ways have the
same taste but there enough to be shared and show. Music is a vocal or instrumental sounds (or both)
combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. And if

Demolition Man Dystopian Elements
Intro: The main dystopian element used in the book the host and the movie demolition man is citizens

outcomes of their societies might still be in perish. Explain how the dystopian element is present in the

The dystopian element is similar to source #1 the host because they both have citizens who want to
take their world back. Within the movie Demolition Man the main character John Spartan choses to
lead a rebellion against the new government leader because of his unjust ways of living. John goes
down into the under living areas where people don t follow the rules up above and have their own way
of living. The sewer people consider John to be a blessing in disguise causing them to get riled up and
deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau. Demolition Man shows how citizens conform to uniform
expectations and rebel by the sewer people deciding to kill Dr. Raymond Cocteau the leader of the
normal world. This is also demonstrated in The Host when Melanie beings to take back her own body
and rebels against Wanda. The Sewer people in Demolition Man effect the society up above because
they take their food also show them their way of living by wearing whatever they want and doing
whatever they want. Inside the dystopian society another main character Simon Phoenix breaks many
laws also getting a small amount of people to follow him into battle against the above world. Simone
leads with John Spartan in order to get their city back to the way it was originally and towards the end
of the movie they succeed. After Simone kills Dr. Cocteau John leads the sewer people up from under
the world and shows them their new world they then begin to ignore all of the old laws and the
citizens from up above follow the new rules and many continue to join making their new world. This
finale act of rebellion shows how even small acts can lead to big changes. The dystopian element of
citizens conform to uniform expectations and rebel act as a bonding path of Demolition man and the
host as both main characters cause a rebellion so big that they end up

Page, Clare and Nutbrown (2013) suggest that skills, knowledge, understanding, and capabilities are
central to the quality of provision in early childcare settings. Research has established the connection
between staff qualifications and the quality of the early years provision, alongside the differences in
quality between maintained and private, voluntary and independent (PVI) settings (Robert Holmes,
2012). It is understood that maintained nursery education was originally staffed by early years
teachers, supported by nursery nurses with a level two qualification, and have since been replaced by
graduates with qualified teacher status (QTS). Meanwhile, in the PVI sector, nursery nurses holding a

It intended to employ an EYP within every children s centre by 2010, full day care settings by 2015
and have all settings move towards an NVQ level three as the minimum required qualification (Jones,
2014). However, it is apparent that this incentive failed as institutions offering EYPS courses are
getting rid of them in favour of the QTS. In addition, the new and revised EYFS published in the 2017
states in each room there need only be one member of staff with a level three qualification whilst half
of all other staff hold a level two (DfE, 2017). The statutory framework s requirements for the
qualifications of staff are identical to that of 2008 (DfE, 2008), allowing half of remaining staff to be
unqualified and level three to be an acceptable level for leadership; suggesting no progress has been
made in the PVI sector for nine years.
Eisenstadt, Sylva, Mathers and Taggart (2013) suggest that EYPS is not comparable to the QTS and
therefore practitioners with the status will not be eligible for teacher pay and conditions (p. 2). As a
practitioner this is demoralising and demotivating as it is suggested that qualified teachers directing
early years practice, with excellent pedagogical leadership, will not only improve quality but raise the
status of the sector and increase professionalism (Nutbrown, 2012), but there is no incentives or

Sufferation In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl
There are some events in human history that are so devastating that they will be remembered forever.
The Holocaust is one of those events. The brutal genocide during World War II is still being talked
about and analyzed to this day. There are books, movies, and documentaries that attempt to describe
the horrors that took place in the concentration camps. Cynthia Ozick wrote a two part book, entitled
The Shawl, which includes the short story The Shawl and the novella, Rosa. The book as a whole
takes a look at the Holocaust in a different light because it focuses on the story of one person, Rosa,
and how she is affected by the trauma years later. The Shawl describes an experience in a
concentration camp that is both devastating and emotional. Ozick s short story uses vivid imagery to
explore the theme of suffering that victims of the Holocaust endured and how they were able to
survive. In The Shawl, Ozick uses elaborate imagery to describe the suffering that Rosa in particular
experiences. It is common knowledge that victims of the Holocaust faced cruelty and devastation
during World War II. It is interesting how Ozick does not directly say that the setting is a
concentration camp or that this event takes place during the war. Instead, the author uses vivid
imagery to contextualize the situation. For example, Ozick uses imagery to describe the cruel nature of
the living conditions that Rosa and the others had to endure. The very first sentence, Stella, cold, cold,

My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone
My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many Christian
hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work in 2000 and
completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur,
strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ
alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal
impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith
Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon
became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep
the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their most famous hymn by far is
In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express the theme of the life, death and
resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once released, In Christ Alone did just
that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian music purists as well as fans of more
contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary Christian group, The Newsboys, released a
version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The Worship Album that topped the Christian
Music charts in the United States. Christian groups Phillips, Craig, and Dean, and Avalon

For some unknown reason, my all time favorite painting is Van Gogh s self portrait. I m not sure why I

1. Why do you think marketing is an area that is involved with so many ethical issues? Provide atleast
2 reasons to support your answer.
Marketing is an area that affects the companies greatly. Marketing can change how people see a brand,
it can create a positive or negative perspective of the brand that is why marketers need to be careful
how they launch new advertisements and promotions. Many thinks that marketing has a big deal with
ethical issues which most of the companies try to get rid of these problems because they would like to
be more transparent and more appealing to the customers, but this is not the case for all the companies
because as we can see when we check the internet we get bombarded with a lot of advertisements that
we do not even have an interest on them. However, many researchers found ethical issues with
marketing, one area that researches found the greatest problem is when marketers survey people to
find if they are interested with the brand or their products. Akaah and colleagues state on their
research, In an effort to meet the client s need for accurate and reliable data, a researcher might be less
than candid with respondents about the intent of a research study in order to avoid biasing their
responses.
Furthermore, I believe that marketing is an area involved in many ethical issues because marketers
must satisfy customers, and they also need to find a way to approach the people that they are
surveying with care if they want to get the right

Analysis Of Once More To The Lake By Billy Collins
What is remembered now might not be the same as what is remembered in 10 or 20 years, since
memories are bound to change and even slip away as time continues. The poem Forgetfulness by Billy
Collins and the essay Once More to the Lake by E.B. White both use diction and devices in order to
help present how memories change and get lost as time moves on. The poem Forgetfulness explains
how memories will slip away as one ages, and the sadness of not knowing simple facts and skills
anymore. The text Once More to the Lake by E.B. White explains the story of a father taking his son
to the lake for a week, wanting to relive and share his childhood memories. As their vacation

Additionally, the essay Once More to the Lake written by E.B. White also uses diction in order to
describe a theme of how memories change as people age. The diction choice included in the text
includes the author saying that everything about the lake was the same as before, but providing tiny
alterations between his past and present experience. The slight changes noticed by White display how
memories are changed as time continues. Paragraph 11 of Once More to the Lake says, Inside, all was
just as it had always been, except there was more Coca Cola and not so much Moxie and root beer and
birch beer and sarsaparilla. This quote explains how the lake store had changed slightly over time to
include more of the beverages currently popular. Although White says, all was just as it had always
been, this isn t completely true when he also uses the word except which describes the change that has
occurred. Noticing and describing the slight changes that have taken place over the years at the lake
presents the idea that memories are changed over time. The poem Forgetfulness by Billy Collins and
the essay Once More to the Lake by E.B. White both use strong diction to promote a theme of
memories changing as time moves on.

Composites as engineering materials normally refer to the material with the following characteristics:
1. These are artificially made (thus, excluding natural material such as wood). 2. These consist of at
least two different species with a well defined interface. 3. Their properties are influenced by the
volume percentage of ingredients. 4. These have at least one property not possessed by the individual
constituents.
Performance of Composite depends on:
1. Properties of matrix and reinforcement, 2. Size and distribution of constituents, 3. Shape of
constituents, 4. Nature of interface between constituents.

Essay Of Prenatal Screening In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In her novel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelley warns of the boundaries of scientific exploration. Victor
Frankenstein, a brilliant scientist, attempts to play God in resurrecting a corpse and creating new life.
This has disastrous effects which include the death of many characters throughout the novel. All told,
the story provides a cautionary tale of the attempts to play God in regards to scientific advancement.
This raises the question of how far is too far in terms of scientific exploration. With the increasing
popularity of eugenics in regards to prenatal screening, one can t help but wonder, is this the
dangerous idea of playing God that Shelley warned us about? One of the most common forms of
eugenics nowadays is prenatal sex selection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During IVF, the egg is typically fertilized in a lab before being implanted into the uterus. Before
transferring the embryo into the uterus, some fertility clinics offer patients the option of choosing what

rather than for the sole purpose of sex selection, sex selection is still an option. This seems both
futuristic and controversial but Codington Lacerte argues that prenatal sex selection methods allow
parents to make informed choices about the makeup of their families (Codington Lacerte, Point: Sex
Selection ). This type of eugenics is seemingly harmless because in choosing a sex for their child,
parents aren t really damaging society. However, by giving parents the ability to choose whether they
want a male or female child, the possibility of a skewed sex ratio greatens. In countries where sex
selection is common, gender biases are already skewing the sex. According to Codington Lacerte,
Americans also exhibit a son preference (Codington Lacerte, Counterpoint: Sex Selection ). By 2009,

Opportunities: Large growing segment of gourmet coffee drinkers. Canada is a large market segment

Threats: There are many threats in the current market place for KFF. The biggest threat is market
saturation. With large market segment at stake there are many competitors currently in the market
place. Big name discount retailers continue to be the largest retail supplier of coffee. This brief SWOT
analysis serves to show that although there are obstacles to entering the market, that KFF also has
many strengths and opportunities to profit from its new line of coffee to the Canadian consumer.
Competition One of the big reasons Ms. Kudler is so interested in adding gourmet coffee in her stores
is because of the massive boom in coffee over the past twenty years. Coffee has gone from a cheap
product sold in Styrofoam for twenty five cents to a coffee and espresso mixed in different
combinations with sugar and cream sold in fancy cups for over three dollars a cup. So as Ms. Kudler

Now franchising study is one of the top issues of the Kazakhstan economy.

Good Night Poem
Fighting for Life The loss of a loved one is difficult to endure, but it is more difficult to watch that
loved one suffer through his or her illness. This is what late poet Dylan Thomas faced when he found
out his father was battling with blindness and certain illnesses. To express his feelings about the
situation, the poet wrote: Do not go gentle into that good night . In this poem, Thomas tells his father
to keep fighting for his life because there is much more to life than he knows. Using the structure,
diction, symbolism, and anaphora of the poem, Thomas emphasizes a universal message in Do not go
gentle into that good night : Never easily submit one s life to death because life is worth fighting
for.Notably, the structure of the poem is significant to the message the poem portrays. The poem is
divided up into six stanzas where the first five stanzas consist of three lines and the last stanza consists
of four lines. The first five stanzas tell the reader that the speaker wants someone to keep living and
fight against death. However, in the last stanza, the speaker reveals to the readers that the he is
referring to his father. The last stanza, being comprised of four lines rather than three, further
emphasizes the speaker s desire to have his father fight death and live life.In addition to this structure
of the poem, rhyme also plays an important role in emphasizing the author s message. This poem has a
specific rhyme scheme for the first five stanzas: aba, aba, aba,

chemical fertilizers. Soil is the most important element for agricultural ecosystems. Healthy soil
comes with beneficial microbes and insects. Unfortunately, these are often killed off by the abuse of
pesticides. Healthy soil can produce strong crops that are less vulnerable to pests. Damaged soils often
need strong fertilizers application to produce a high amount of crops. Soil quality can be amplified in
many ways, including leaving crop remainders in the field after harvest and adding composted plant

Case Study Of Birla Sun Life Insurance
Insurance is the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another in exchange for
money. It is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent,

the person or entity buying the insurance policy. The amount of money to be charged for a certain
amount of insurance coverage is called the premium. Risk management, the practice of appraising and

Compare And Contrast The Human Body In Ancient Egypt Art
Human Body Depiction in Ancient Egypt Ancient Greece
Throughout the years humans have had the tendency to record their daily lives and events. In other
words, the art of each era reflects the society and mentality of the civilians. This is why each era has a
different way of depicting the human body and how the story they tell is narrated. This research paper
will compare between the depiction of the human body in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. Ancient
Egypt art was at the start of art history, which was between 3000 BC and 400 AD. The Egyptians

wanted everything to be clear and show what was happening in their daily lives rather than show the

The sport of hockey is an intense test of power and will, and as a result of the injuries in sport are
common realities that players and coaches are faced with. Among these injuries are concussions,
arguably the worst injury of all. A significant blow to the head that causes the brain to shake in the
skull and sometime even swell causes a concussion. These serious and sometimes life threatening
injuries have always been a part of hockey, and up until a few years ago, little was being done to
combat the cause. Although great strides have been made to help athletes recover from a concussion,

Like all sports, the ability to think the game and mentally prepare is arguably the most important
aspect. After suffering a concussion, players often explain to doctors and trainers feelings of
cloudiness and the inability to think without distraction. As a result this can lead to a decrease in major
areas that directly correlate to player performance.
The NHL implemented a new policy for in game concussion testing. During a game, a player that is
suspected of having a concussion will be removed from the game and sent to a quiet place free from
distraction so the on site team physician can examine them. The physician will then apply the SCAT
(Sports Concussion Assessment Tool) test to evaluate the player, and determine whether or not he has
been concussed. In the past, players were simply assessed on the bench by the team s trainer. If it is
determined that the hockey player has indeed suffered a concussion, the player is immediately sent for
observation and testing at a hospital or private clinic. Rest is recommended and athletes are not
allowed to return to game play until they are symptom free. There are however, certain steps to be
followed upon a player return to practice and game play. The following is a mandatory 6 step process
used by trainers, physicians and coaches to determine the readiness of a player who has suffered a

immense amounts of criticism from military historians, journalists, and veterans, as they felt that it

the Supreme Court s 7 2 decision in the Roe V. Wade case that found the procedure a fundamental
right on January 22nd 1973. Furthermore, groups that identify as pro choice contend that deciding to
have an abortion is a women s given right, despite the

Essay on Xenotransplantation
Xenotransplantation
Introduction
According to Webster s Dictionary, a doctor is one skilled or specializing in healing arts. However,
what is entailed in these healing arts has expanded time and time again over the course of history. At
one point in time, to be a doctor was as simple as administering the right dose of a certain elixir, and
then as time went on advances were made in the areas of antibiotics and other medicines, as well as in
surgical arenas. Now we have come to a new age where doctors are pushing the boundaries of their
capability far beyond anyone imagined they could. Since the first kidney transplant less than 40 years
ago, a lot of innovations have been made in the world of organ transplantation and various ... Show

Instead the benefits of this procedure reach to include those with diabetes, Alzheimer s, Parkinsons,
and those who have suffered a stroke. As with any new technological advance, there is a bevy of
issues and points to discuss before one can form an educated conclusion about what is best for society.
Professional Issues
The professional issues involved in xenotransplantation are especially significant due to the nature of
the medical profession. It is crucial that the primary motivation for doctors always center on doing all
they can, in the best way they can, for their patients. In a portion of the Hippocratic oath taken by
doctors entering the medical profession, they swear that into whatsoever house you shall enter, it shall
be for the good of the sick to the utmost of your power... The question is, what exactly is meant by the
utmost of your power ? Ideally whatever form of organ transplantation helps the most people would
be the best, but unfortunately it is not that simple, there are other issues to be considered.
First of all, the process of xenotransplantation is nowhere near being perfected enough to use on
humans. However, some experts do believe the first clinical trials with pig organs could take place in
as soon as two years. Before this happens, more research needs to be done to figure out how to work
past the current obstacles facing this procedure, one of which is the

Saussure s System For Evaluating Linguistics Essay
In Course in General Linguistics , Saussure does two things to develop his system for evaluating
linguistics: he chooses language as his linguistic object and he only incorporates factors into his model
that can be said to be true of all languages over all time. The net result is a very high level and flexible
classification structure, which is more intent on making a developmental framework for evaluating
linguistics than necessarily providing tremendous insight into it s more concrete aspects: rudiments
like structure, meaning, morphology, syntax, or phonology.
Others, including Levi Strauss in Structural Anthropology , have used
Saussure s methodology to develop their own models for study in different aspects of human society.
But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I feel he still needed to explicitly say it: that despite all the differences between languages, I have
identified these invariants to be true over all time, and I believe this is because of certain specific
commonalities between all humans, particularly the human desire to create and maintain an effective
and convenient system for communicating ideas with one another. Levi Strauss additional step
provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the why and
what while Saussure s method provides the how .
Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and design.
Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to provide people
with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as life versus death or
love, etc. Then Levi
Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself, and
then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is the
use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are common
across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw conclusions about the
myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth.

This is when children begin to understand classification, for example, Dalmatians, Greyhounds and Spaniels would be ably classed as dogs. Children who had not reached this stage would struggle with the concept that categories may be divided into subsets, for example, a dog is also an Animal. However, a study by Sugier and Svetner (2006) found children as young as 5 to have an understanding of class inclusion, when presented with a class inclusion test, whereas Piaget believed this wouldn t happen until the child is 7 years old. (younger children, within this stage or before? Or that they still do struggle within this stage?) The third stage of Piaget s theory of cognitive development is the Stage of concrete operations. Within this stage, children still struggle with abstract ideas and concepts, as well as imagining objects or situations they cannot see. In addition, Piaget claimed for his theory to be universal, however research suggests that not everyone reaches the stage of concrete operations. Research by Maclean (2001) found that the concrete stage has more to do with culture and school rather than brain maturation. Therefore, if cognitive development was purely biological, theoretically, late school starters, and those in poverty with a lack of education (which is important in rational thinking) should have the same level of logical thinking. (?) The final stage in Piaget s theory is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Copyright In Graphic Design Essay The Importance of Copyright in Graphic Design Copyrights are necessary for protecting the ideas of people. Protecting ideas mean that other people are not given the right to make money off of one s ideas. Most of the time graphic designers, artist, photographers, etc. go to school to be better at what they do and people stealing their ideas is something that needs to stop. They pay to make more money in their future careers and people are just taking that money away from them. It also causes people to lose their jobs. For example, Kerry Gorgone states in the {grow} Contributing Columnist article, Despite rising demand, there is an expectation of free, leaving musicians, artists, and writers to scramble for a living. (22) If your company owns a copyright on any work that s registered with the U.S. Copyright Office, it can seek a court injunction that commands the infringing party to immediately cease and desist publication or performance of the work in question. This action is immediate. It moves much more quickly than criminal or civil proceedings against an infringing party, and it can at least stop additional losses due to copyright infringement. (20) Wilhelm Schnotz writes in his article Pros Cons of Copyright Laws. If a copyright has been infringed, the owner may sue the infringer in federal court, seeking an injunction against future violations of the copyrights. The owner may recover actual damages, which are losses plus the infringer s profits from use of the copyrighted work. Or, any time before a court issues a final judgment, the owner can elect to receive a set amount in damages as defined in the copyright statute, in lieu of actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection Paper On Travel Pack Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to create possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that aims to bring travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this reflective essay, I will be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how groupware relates to Travel Pack and how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust. Throughout this essay I will report, relate and reason, and reflect on my experiences on the project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters found that there was a struggle when travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or people to meet. Many backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with knowing what is happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we wanted to create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around the globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area. The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi , Popular Attraction and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able ... Edwards interprets this fear as trepidation and terror, allowing no room for our souls to Hall 2 love God as he loves us. Edwards also fails to emphasize a major thematic concept of the Bible love. The word love is used in 539 verses of the Bible. In this sermon it is used only four times. Only two of those times directly refer to Christ s love for us. Edwards seems to have shaded this crucial aspect of salvation. In the very small section of Edwards sermon that he gives his listeners a way out of being dropped like a spider into the fiery lake, he fails to give their terror release, still making his message into a threat. Jesus never threatened. God never finds pleasure in the damning of men s souls. The Lord wishes only for us to be with him. I agree with Edwards that if we do not come to Christ and obey His commands that we will spend eternity in hell, but I also believe that our God is a god of infinite grace and love. This is something Edwards seems not to have felt or appears to have interpreted in a way that makes God into a spiteful, jealous god waiting to crush us at any moment. The purpose of this lab is to allow students to determine an unknown amino acid by comparing results to six known amino acids (slowest to fastest: lysine, glycine, alanine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, and leucine) and properly separate a combined solution of amino acids using the TLC method. My prediction was supported with the development of Lane 2. As I analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane 4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my theory as ... However, it is apparent that this incentive failed as institutions offering EYPS courses are getting rid of them in favour of the QTS. In addition, the new and revised EYFS published in the 2017 states in each room there need only be one member of staff with a level three qualification whilst half of all other staff hold a level two (DfE, 2017). The statutory framework s requirements for the qualifications of staff are identical to that of 2008 (DfE, 2008), allowing half of remaining staff to be unqualified and level three to be an acceptable level for leadership; suggesting no progress has been made in the PVI sector for nine years. The brutal genocide during World War II is still being talked about and analyzed to this day. There are books, movies, and documentaries that attempt to describe the horrors that took place in the concentration camps. Cynthia Ozick wrote a two part book, entitled The Shawl, which includes the short story The Shawl and the novella, Rosa. The book as a whole takes a look at the Holocaust in a different light because it focuses on the story of one person, Rosa, and how she is affected by the trauma years later. The Shawl describes an experience in a concentration camp that is both devastating and emotional. Ozick s short story uses vivid imagery to explore the theme of suffering that victims of the Holocaust endured and how they were able to survive. In The Shawl, Ozick uses elaborate imagery to describe the suffering that Rosa in particular experiences. It is common knowledge that victims of the Holocaust faced cruelty and devastation during World War II. It is interesting how Ozick does not directly say that the setting is a concentration camp or that this event takes place during the war. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur, strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant scientist, attempts to play God in resurrecting a corpse and creating new life. All told, the story provides a cautionary tale of the attempts to play God in regards to scientific advancement. This raises the question of how far is too far in terms of scientific exploration. During IVF, the egg is typically fertilized in a lab before being implanted into the uterus. Before transferring the embryo into the uterus, some fertility clinics offer patients the option of choosing what sex embryo they want. Although IVF is more commonly used for families struggling with infertility rather than for the sole purpose of sex selection, sex selection is still an option. This seems both futuristic and controversial but Codington Lacerte argues that prenatal sex selection methods allow parents to make informed choices about the makeup of their families (Codington Lacerte, Point: Sex Selection ). This type of eugenics is seemingly harmless because in choosing a sex for their child, parents aren t really damaging society. However, by giving parents the ability to choose whether they want a male or female child, the possibility of a skewed sex ratio greatens. In countries where sex selection is common, gender biases are already skewing the sex. Levi Strauss additional step provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the why and what while Saussure s method provides the how . Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and design. Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to provide people with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as life versus death or love, etc. Then Levi Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself, and then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is the use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are common across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw conclusions about the myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
