My Happy Day
Surpriesed things usually make you happy but sometimes it also makes you sad.
Surprise makes you become full of emotion. You can feel sad and happy at the
same time. I felt that once. It was a goodbye party for me. I was going to go study
abroad so my friends hold a party for me. Only my best friend and me were there.
On that day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing. I had thought that it would
be a happy day. However, it wasn t. The party was on 3 July. At 3.00 pm, my friends
came to my house and then we went to the supermarket to buy food. When we came

I found this very unfair. I know those countries may have terrorist and dangerous
people, but minority is like them, they are still people, like us. In the future, I believe,
I would like to support everyone from refugee countries. I would like to take action
helping the innocent people, who had nothing to do with the bombing and terrorist

I examine how rising or falling tide can affect the water level of Corte Madera Salt
Marsh in this report. The data is from Wednesday (June 19th) and Thursday (June
20th). My hypothesis is that tide and water level have positive relationship. From the
result, I learn that the water level and tide have positive relationship. However, when
tide changes its direction, the water level is likely to stay or little change.

The result of T 1 and T 2 is different. T 1 does not have any significant change in
water level the greatest change was 5cm/h at 4A. Half of locations do not have
any change. On the other hand, only 1 location does not have change in the other
group s table. Most of velocities from T 2 are negative. Therefore, the water level
is decreasing. No matter the experiment time is almost same (None of data has
difference more than 10 minute For example, in T 1, the time in for 1A is 14:39
pm and in T 2, the time in for 1A is 14:33 pm), the result from each table has large
difference. I assume the difference cause by having different tide cycle on both days.
Discussion
To confirm my assumption, which is each day has different tide cycle, I compare
our data to Corte Madera tide table. On Wednesday 19th, Corte Madera Creek has
first low tide at 3:37 AM and second low tide at 2:57 pm. The first high tide was at
10:05 am and the next high tide was at 9:22 pm. The tidal coefficient was 67
(middle). The maximum high tide recorded in the tide tables for Corte Madera
Creek which is of 7.2 ft and a minimum height of 2.0 ft.
Therefore, during experiment (2:39 pm first in and 4:01 pm last out), we had second
low tide after we put meter stick on 2B but before 3A. Then, the graph shows that the

In April 2004, the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre opened to commemorate the
tenth anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. Peacefully overlooking the city of
Kigali, the Centre seeks to be a place of remembrance and honor for survivors as well
as a step towards creating Rwanda s post genocide identity. Rwanda has sought to
find its place politically, socially, and in memory through this westernized
approach to remembrance. The museum is comprised of the display of a
permanent exhibition, a memorial garden, a small library and documentation
center, and a mass grave holding over 250,000 genocide victims who were killed in
and around the city of Kigali during the 1994 genocide. Although the Kigali
Genocide Memorial Centre is poised to be an impactful space and place for
remembrance and education, I will argue that it has become a place for revisionist
history and political agendas to be promoted.
Before the genocide of 1994, Rwanda had been a country of great political and
social turmoil. Deep seeded ethnic tensions which had plagued Rwanda since its
colonization, first by Germany and then Belgium, came to a devastating and bloody

1. What motivated Jing mei s mother to create the Joy Luck Club in China and again
in America?
Suyuan Woo originally created the Joy Luck Club in Kweilin, China during the
time when the Japanese were bombing Chinese cities. The Joy Luck Club was a
club where a group of four women could enjoy themselves in the middle of a
sorrowful time by playing mahjong with each other. They would host a party every
week and make dyansyin food, which was supposed to bring luck. They would bet
their money and play mahjong and the winner took all of the money. The purpose of
the club was to distract the women from the threat of the Japanese, who could strike
the city at any given time. Suyuan explains that to despair was to wish back for
something already lost, (Tan 24) so they would put their attention towards enjoying
their time together. She started the Joy Luck Club in America to ensure that her
heritage was continued. It was a time when she and her friends could meet and talk
about their heritage and Chinese culture. This was very important for Suyuan Woo,
and even more important that she is able to show her daughter her heritage.
